The Federal Reserve House The Board Of Governors
The Federal System The Federal Reserve house the Board of Governors, The Federal Reserve Banks,
The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), and Advisory Committees. The Federal Reserve Bank
is directed by the Board of Governors or Federal Reserve Board, which is located in Washington D.C.
The Board of governors is the national aspect of the Federal Reserve System and consists of nine
board of directors which are appointed by the President serve a fourteen year term. The Chairman and
Vice Chairman are appointed to four year terms which can be renewed (Federal Reserve, 2009). The
Federal Reserve Banks are a network of 12 banks with 25 branches. Each banks serves a region of the
country and the 12 locations are Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Richmond, Atlanta,
Chicago, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Kansas City, Dallas, and San Francisco (Federal Reserve System,
2001). These Federal Reserve Banks serve other banks, the U.S. Treasury and inadvertently, the
public. The FOMC is made up of twelve members, seven from the Board of governors and five
Federal Reserve Bank presidents (Federal Reserve System, 2001). The Advisory committee advises on
the Federal Reserve System and provides information on the effect of system policies. The advisory
committee includes the Federal Advisory Council, the Consumer Advisory Council, and the Thrift
Institutions Advisory Council, which work together to advise individual Federal Reserve Banks on
these interests (Federal Reserve System,

An Investigation of Chemical Vapour Deposition of Graphene...
Graphene exhibits numerous unique properties, which have caused large scale research of the
material. For example, its charge carriers have zero effective mass (called Dirac fermions) and exhibit
ultra relativistic effects , therefore possess mobility s of up to 200,000 cm2V 1s 1; the material shows
the half integer quantum Hall effect and shows absorption of 2.3% of the visible spectrum of light .
Graphene of the highest quality and best structural integrity is acquired by mechanical exfoliation of
highly oriented graphite . As graphene produced in this method is structurally superior, it is used as a
reference and new methods are compared relative to it. However, although mechanically exfoliated
graphene exhibits low amounts of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This phenomenon is a result of the separation of carbon from the metal carbide, which occurs at a high
rate upon cooling, in Ni grains and occurs heterogeneously at the various grain boundaries. Thus,
carbon can precipitate out of the grain boundaries, resulting in greater thickness of graphene at the
edges of a layer. However, extremely high quality uniform monolayers of graphene have been
deposited using polycrystalline copper foils, on diameters of up to 76 cm2,10. Raman analysis shows
that copper foils treated at atmospheric pressure, show up to 95% monolayer coverage, with 5% bi
layer or tri layer graphene10. These values are not related to the growth time or the rate of heating and
cooling. In addition, copper foils are relatively cost efficient and are etched simply with solvents that
are readily available. Chemically etching the transition metal is the best method to transfer graphene
deposited on the substrate, resulting in free floating graphene membranes.
Copper is used as it has the lowest affinity and solubility of carbon, as it does not form a carbide
phase, relative to Ni and Co . This is attributed to copper s filled 3d electron shell, possessing an
electron configuration of [Ar] 3d104s1, which due to its symmetrical electronic configuration reduces
reciprocal electronic repulsions. In addition, copper is able to transfer charge from the π electrons of
the sp2 carbons to the empty 4s orbital of

The Tax Falls On The Survivors
The estate tax is unique in that it is payable one time and only after the grantor is gone. The effect of
the tax falls on the survivors and is not a burden while the grantor is alive. The IRS Code prevision
allows a federal estate tax marital deduction, which is when a person transfers property at death to his
or her surviving spouse free of federal estate tax. The deduction is available when property passes to
the surviving spouse either as an outright gift in the Will or when property is left in a marital trust as a
benefit for the surviving spouse. It is considered by many to be the most important estate tax saving
device available. The following provides a depiction of the history of the estate tax in the US as well

The War Revenue Act of 1898 was repealed in 1903, one year after the end of the Spanish American
War, but in that short amount of time the tax raised about $14.1 million (Jacobson, Raub, Johnson,
2007).
In the early 20th century, after worldwide conflict cut into trade tariffs, Congress turned to another
revenue source: The Revenue Act of 1916. This Act introduced the income tax system used today and
also included an estate tax with similar features of today s system. Residents received an exemption of
$50,000 with tax rates starting at one percent and climbing to 10 percent on estates over $5 million
(Jacobson, Raub, Johnson, 2007). As the US entered World War I in 1917, estate taxes were increased.
Unlike the previous Acts, the Act of 1916 was not repealed after the war ended, but instead the laws
surrounding the estate tax framework shifted immensely over the next century.
History of the Unlimited Marital Deduction
At this point in history no provision for a marital deduction had been made and as a result, residents of
community property states were at an advantage over residents of common law states. In community
property states, marital estates were split in half to create a low overall tax burden. It was not until
1948 that the estate tax code was amended to reduce these tax

Persuasive Essay On Into Thin Air
Lens: Climbing Enthusiasts
In this essay there will be talks from climbing enthusiasts about how people should be able to climb
Mount Everest on their own will. There are many reasons for people to climb Mount Everest.
Including for the adventure and the sense of achievement. But there are many people that don t think
climbing enthusiasts should climb Mount Everest because of medical reasons.
One reason climbing enthusiasts should climb Mount Everest is for the sense of achievement. In the
article http://www.everest1953.co.uk/5 reasons to climb everest I read that they will achieve the sense
of achievement by climbing Mount Everest. They say There is so much hard work involved in an
Everest expedition, and the sense of accomplishment that you feel is something that will stay with you

Cassini Solstice Essay
Cassini finished its introductory four year mission to investigate the Saturn Framework in June 2008
and the initially expanded mission, called the Cassini Equinox Mission, in September 2010. Presently,
the sound shuttle is trying to make energizing new disclosures in a second amplified mission called
the Cassini Solstice Mission. The mission s expansion, which experiences September 2017, is named
for the Saturnian summer solstice happening in May 2017. The northern summer solstice denote the
start of summer in the northern side of the equator and winter in the southern half of the globe. Since
Cassini landed at Saturn just after the planet s northern winter solstice, the augmentation will take into
consideration the first investigation of a complete regular period. Cassini propelled in October 1997

study Titan, Saturn s biggest moon. It arrived on Titan s surface on Jan. 14, 2005, and returned
dynamite results.
In the interim, Cassini s 12 instruments have given back a day by day stream of information from
Saturn s framework since touching base at Saturn in 2004. Among the most vital focuses of the
mission are the moons Titan and Enceladus, and some of Saturn s other cold moons. Towards the end

Dinosaurs In Juvenile Persuasive Speech
Vicious Reptile terrorises school
As unusual as it seems, dinosaurs are back, and are back for good. Disaster has struck Brisbane once
again. Investigated by Maya Cumming.
Dinosaurs are reoccurring in Brisbane
Have you ever wondered how the world would be like if dinosaurs came back to life? Or how people
would react? Well, early Monday morning on May 31st 2017, a Tyrannosaurs Rex changed people s
lives by killing 33 innocent people including young school children.
The police claimed responsibility after the dreadful incident at Blossom Hill High School (BHHS).
This is by far the worst terrorist attack Brisbane has experienced.
There were 50 taken to hospital and 55 others treated at the scene.
The traumatised witnesses have stated that the vicious reptile has torn down the entire school, leaving
over millions of pieces scattered across school grounds.
Classrooms left ripped apart and school buses been squashed to the ground.
Some school students at the incident ran for their lives, while others were shocked and whipped out
their phones to record the outrageous event. Tyrannosaurs Rex large, vicious reptile hovered over the
school for over one hour, taking down everything in its sight.
The school yard, which was usually bursting out with happiness and laughter, was now as still as the
night sky.
The unforgettable incident occurred at 10:23 am, when all you could hear were the sounds of
buildings crashing down and screaming
A few minutes later everything was wiped out completely. After the dinosaur roamed around the
school, the police captured the dinosaur for further examination.
Surprisingly, some survived after the awful episode. Andrew Smith, was a survivor who captured this
image of the dinosaur. He and 3 other staff members of (BHHS) survived and witnessed the whole
attack.
(Tyrannosaurs Rex wandering around Blossom Hill High School.)
Andrew 29 said, I heard lots of screaming from across the hall. The next thing I saw is something I
will never forget. It was a dinosaur peering over me. He started to stomp and crush all the buildings
surrounding us
I was honestly so petrified. I yelled at the remanding students to run.
I immediately dialled 000 on my phone. Shortly after they

What Is Active Assisted Range Of Motion
Active Assisted Range of Motion is utilized under certain conditions. It is most often used when a
client has a weakness due to pathology or injury. The therapist would help assist the client as the client
actively moves the joint through a pain free range of motion, indicating pain when it arises. The use of
light pressure touch over the joint capsule can add palpation of tissue for analysis during active
assisted ROM.
Active ROM testing is conducted first or Active Assisted ROM testing, when called for, followed by
passive ROM testing. Passive testing allows the therapist to ascertain any adhesions or excessive
mobility within the joint s range. During this passive motion the individual being tested should remain
as passive as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A hard or bone to bone end feel, occurring when the therapist would not expect to feel such hard
resistance, can indicate changes in the osseous tissue, joint capsule or misalignment after a fracture.
On the other end of the spectrum, an unrestricted end feel yielding a high level of pain, may indicate
bursitis and inflammation of the joint capsule.
A very common experience among manual therapists, is a bouncy end feel, which may include the
sensation of a contractile spasm. This is a sudden and the hard cessation of movement, including pain,
followed closely by a bouncy sensation that may include spasms in specific muscles involved with the
range of motion. This type of end feel may indicate a responsive muscle guarding intended to prevent
further injury.
A restricted, yet springy end feel near the end of range of motion of a joint, with or without pain, can
indicate changes to inert tissues. Such as, cartilage or the meniscus of the tibiofemoral joint. Where
the individual would not be able to fully extend the joint.
A soft, yet soggy end feel can indicate edema within the joint or joint capsule. This soggy feel may
indicate an acute ligament injury, usually accompanied by moderate to severe pain. A sprain, for
example, of an ankle may also include a strain to one or more muscle tendons.
In conclusion, there are a few ROM testing patterns that occur

Supervisor Communication Skills
Good communication skills are important for supervisors. When supervisors become confident,
comfortable, and consistent in communicating with staff, turnover is reduced. Also, the staff is more
engaged and therefore become a profitable staff. It is also important for supervisors to communicate

professional and personal development are created. Most of all when supervisors have good

Genetic Modification Of Designer Babies
I support that the danger of the misuse of genetic engineering is too great and development and use of
technology should be halted. The first reason I don t support the creation of designer babies is that
some important historic figures had sickness. Another reason why I don t support the genetic
modification of babies is that the scientists can make mistakes. Finally, the last reason I do not support
the genetic engineering is so that people don t enter a bad emotional state. The first reason I do not
support the creation of designer babies is that some important historical figure had mental sickness.
For example, Albert Einstein had Asperger s syndrome. According to the website Webmd.com is The

this process this can make the baby look deformed. For the most part, geneticists are not perfect.
Finally, my last reason why I do not support genetic engineering is because it will make some people

The Department Of Homeland Security Act
When one thinks of security, they tend to think of being protected, free from harm or danger. There are
various security threats that the world faces today. Threats could range from a series of cyber threats to
terrorist attacks. We are incessantly encountered with catastrophic man made and natural diseases. The
Department of Homeland Security measures the nation s vulnerabilities, meaning it takes initiative in
leading and evaluating vulnerabilities and coordinating with other federal, state, local, and private
entities to safeguard the most effective response. The creation of the country s 15th Cabinet
Department marked the largest reorganization of government since the Truman administration.
The Department of Homeland Security Act was created a year after September 11th, 2001 to ensure
the protection of the American border and the people; also to measure and monitor counterterrorism.
Since 2002, there have been six Secretaries of Homeland Security. The Secretary of Homeland
Security has the ability to impact and shape the agenda of how the United States of America executes
and defends the various players that try to attack us. Secretary Michael Chertoff, when compared to
the other five secretaries can be viewed as someone who had some gray areas, but successfully

The Found Boat Summary
From the time we were young we had friends. Making friendship was always an instinctive concept
but we never knew where it would lead .In Alice Munro s story The Found boat , Eva, Carol, Frank,
Bud and Clayton are a group of children that live in a small town and goes to the same school. In this
story, the boat initiates a new stage in the relationships between the boys and the girls and how does
the boat have an influence on their sexual awareness.
Firstly , the boat has an important influence in this story because it takes the kids on some sort of
adventure and change there relationship . For example, at the beginning of the story they largely
remain separated from on another and they only converse with one another occasionally, and that
communication usually takes the form of hurling insults at one another. Look at the fat assed ducks in
wading , and Fat assed fucks (Munro 366). This stage of their relationship begins to change after the
girls find the boat and share that finding with the boys. We can observe that the characters are very
childish at the beginning of the story and that sooner or later their growth was about to begin.
Therefore it is at this moment that we can come to conclusion that the boat , which is the main symbol
of this story , is about to begin.
Secondly, working on the boat allows them to explore new roles and aspects of their identity. They all
had a different task to do; like that the boat would be ready to go on some unknown

Obesity Is An Epidemic Of Growing Proportions
Obesity in the United States is an epidemic of growing proportions. According to the Center for
Disease Control more than one third (34.9% or 78.6 million) of U.S. adults are obese. ( Adult Obesity
Facts , 2014). Obesity is defined as a body mass index or BMI, over 30. A person s height and weight
are used to determine BMI but does not measure how much body fat a person has. There are several
factors that play into the lifestyle of obese patients. The Center for Disease Control have outlined

Obesity has many different effect on several body systems. The most affected body system is the
cardiovascular system. High blood pressure or hypertension is a cardiovascular disease that many
obese patients suffer. Blood pressure is the measurement of the force of blood against arterial walls as
the heart pumps. The World Health Organization has recently reported One in three adults worldwide,
according to the report, has raised blood pressure a condition that causes around half of all deaths
from stroke and heart disease. ( New data highlight increases in hypertension, diabetes incidence ,
2012) Additionally, Dr. Aram Chobanian, a professor at Boston University has noted About 40 percent
of those who are obese have high blood pressure (Chobanian, 2008) Hypertension can increase the
risk of heart disease which is the leading cause of death in the United States.
Obesity also increases the risk for Type 2 Diabetes. Type 2 diabetes occurs when the pancreas is not
making enough insulin or the body is not adequately using insulin as it should. When insulin is not
used the body appropriately, glucose cannot get to cells and may not function properly.
Obesity also has significant effect on the musculoskeletal system. As with other body systems, obesity

Figurative Language In Prophetic Literature
1)
The figurative language in prophetic literature, wisdom literature, and Lamentations all depict
feminine figures and characteristics. The prophetic literature consists of Amos, Hosea, Isiah, Jeremiah,
and Ezekiel. In these scriptures, the people of Israel are depicted as pitiless and loveless by naming the
Children of Hosea and Gomer Lo ruhamah and Lo ammi explaining them as children of whoredom .
This imagery is seen as Israel (Gomer) as a woman who has betrayed God (Hosea) through infidelity,
worshiping other Gods and procreating with other people in those religions. We see Israel as an
exposed woman for her iniquity (Hosea 2:3 9) a shaming for her transgressions as a bride. God casts

Two metanarratives are seen in the Chronicles; the importance and redemption of repentance, and the
reoccurring theme throughout the old testament, exile and return. David is the model for repentance
but there is a new story of repentance not seen in the book of Kings, Manasseh. In 2 Chronicles 33:10
13 Manasseh repents for his foreign worship and more, by building an outer wall to protect the city of
David and removed false idols to restore the altars of YHWH. The repentance of Manasseh is

although kings may have repented (David, Solomon, and Manasseh) it is not implied that the people
of Israel have also (2 Chronicles 34:23 24) and therefore God lets His people return to exile. The holy

A New Strategy for Loblaw Companies: Will it Work?
In 2009 and forward, Loblaw Companies were up against aggressive competitive markets while still

and Loblaw s was in desperate need to change their store strategies. By 2011, Loblaw s had come up

Operant Conditioning by B. F Skinner
Introduction People do on a day to day basis, many actions without realizing it, and most of the time,
they don t know why they do them. Certain reinforcements, some positive, and some negative have
conditioned their actions and thoughts. In this essay, I chose Burrhus Frederic Skinner who came up
with the theory of operant conditioning. B. F. skinner,(March 20, 1904 August 18, 1990) is an
American psychologist who believed that we do have such a thing as a mind, but that it is simply more
productive to study observable behavior rather than internal mental events. As Skinner s theory was
based on the earlier work of Thorndike, he also believed that the best way to understand a behavior is
to look at the causes of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example he studies the behavior of rats under carefully controlled laboratory conditions.
Skinner Box Skinner illustrated positive reinforcement by placing a hungry rat in his Skinner box
(Appendix 2). The box contained a lever in the side and as the rat moved about the box it would
accidentally knock the lever. As the lever move, a food pellet would drop into a container next to the
lever. The rats quickly learned to go straight to the lever after a few times of being put in the box. The
consequence of receiving food if they pressed the lever ensured that they would repeat the action
again and again. Skinner illustrated negative reinforcement by placing a rat in his Skinner box and
then subjecting it to an unpleasant electric current which caused it some discomfort. As the rat moved
about the box it would accidentally knock into the lever. Immediately as it did so, the electric current
would be switched off. The rats quickly learned to go straight to the lever after a few times of being
put in the box. The consequence of escaping the electric current ensured that they would repeat the
action again and again.
Human and animals are not alike Based on the Skinner box, we are able to conclude that Skinner
actually conducts and derived his theories from rats and other animals such as pigeon. The experiment
on pigeon was referred to as the Superstition in Pigeon in which a pigeon was kept in a cage and at

Katherine s And Michelle s Case Essay
Katherine s and Michelle s Case Biological/ Neurobiological Components Research verifies that the
trend in families with lesbian couples tends to have an egalitarian foundation where the roles under a
traditional marriage are upheld: finances. decision making, housework, and parenting (Dorman and
Mixon, 2014). Upon the arrival of children, these relationships tend to mirror that of heterosexual
couples, where the biological mother tends to do the entire child bearing/rearing roles. In this vignette
we are introduced to Katherine who is a forty five year old mother to her sixteen year old daughter
Michelle. Both ladies live in New York, where Katherine lost her partner Jane on September 11, 2001.
Katherine harbors guilt because she stayed home on 9/11 due to being sick from her pregnancy.
Katherine reports feelings of depression. Doctors are not sure what causes depression, but studies have
shown that there is a change in brain activity and brain shape with the rapid change in a person s
mood. The brain is reported to shrink, or at least certain parts do, such as the hippocampus, which
function is to store and create a human s memories and the frontal lobes which are involved in motor
function, problem solving, spontaneity, memory, language, initiation, judgment, impulse control, and
social and sexual behavior. This destruction of the brain is linked to Alzheimer s and other forms of
dementia. One may think that it is a good thing that Katherine has a

St. Thomas Aquinas Argument On God
St. Thomas Aquinas is a famous philosopher from the medieval period who believed there was a god.
One of Aquinas significant works in philosophy was his argument that God exists. In Aquinas
argument, or also known as Summa Theologica, he uses five arguments to support the claim that God
exist and four of them are cosmological argument. Cosmological arguments are arguments that try to
reason that god exists because of the universe or cosmos leads to the conclusion that god exists. His
first argument is the Argument From Motion. In the argument of motion Aquinas observed that we live
in a world and universe that things are continuously moving, and he also noticed that to make
something move something has to move or start it moving. To Aquinas this means that everything that
is moving must have been moved by something or someone and there had to be a time when the thing
wasn t moving. The mover for the beginning of everything in Aquinas argument is God. The second
argument is the Argument From Causation which is very similar to the Argument From Motion.
Aquinas thoughts were that everything that is caused had to be caused by something else. Nothing can
cause it s self so there must be an thing that is uncaused and to Aquinas that thing is God because it
can t go back forever. The Third argument is The Argument From Contingency. Contingency is a
future or thing that could have not existed and Aquinas believe that the world can t always be
contingent because then it could have

In the beginning of November, President Donald Trump will be traveling to Asia because of the rising
tensions over North Koreas nuclear and missile programs. During his trip to Asia, he plans on seeing
the President of the Philippines to possibly discuss human rights, rule of law and important
developments. Donald Trump has praised the Philippine leader over the phone in May for doing an
unbelievable job on the drug problem. Although, Duterte s drug crackdown led to thousands of people

Speaking from a liberal point of understanding, the development of international institutions is very
vital. Most powerful states have relied on international institutions and economic interdependence. I
believe this because international institutions are one of the most important efforts for the achievement
of world peace and possibly stop North Koreans leader from making terrorist threats. International
institutions can set standards of behavior and verify compliance and resolve disputes. Also, the
economic interdependence has been a huge key factor in the cooperation and peace of those States.
Many of the states that are considered speaking upon the North Koreas dangerous efforts against them
are States that have been trading goods for decades. They are all relying on each other for something
because each cannot produce efficiently for themselves. We are worried. If anything can go wrong, it
will go wrong, A nuclear war is totally unacceptable to everybody (Duterte). Creating a stronger
international institution to set standards of behavior, disputes and verify compliance would be virtuous
in halting a war. In the long run, I hope we can expect some type of cooperation soon between North

No Country For Old Men Themes
There are several apparent themes throughout the film No Country for Old Men . These themes
express a particular opinion about human nature and life in general. Although this film is complex,
and in my opinion littered with several themes, the three main themes are violence, good vs. evil, and
fate vs. freewill. There are many reasons why these three are the most central themes in this movie, as
well as many scenes that portray this observation. The fact that No Country for Old Men is a violent
movie is apparent almost immediately. The first main character that we are introduced to visually is
Anton Chigruh. Our first insight into his character is that he has a complete disregard for human life,
which contributes to his eerie and unsettling persona; even the manner in which he kills people
furthers this observation. He uses a pressurized cattle gun, as if the life of a cow and life of a human
are one in the same. Furthermore, while watching this film you ... Show more content on

evil. The scene that really propels this story forward is when Llewelyn Moss brings water to the
injured man he had discover earlier that day. In the midst of his good deed, evil in the form of crazed
men with guns, comes driving down the hill. They fire at Moss, who then tumbles down a small hill
and into a river, barely escaping. In this scene, you see a glimpse into the struggle between good vs
evil. This scene, of course, is a small example of the overall good vs. evil theme as a whole. In a larger
more general sense, good vs. evil is shown in the plot of the story. The plot can be captured in these
two questions: Will the sheriff Ed Tom Bell (the good guy) catch Anton Chigruh or Llewelyn Moss
(the bad guys)? And in whose hands will the money fall? Although Moss is not necessarily considered
one of the good guys, he isn t all bad. Each character has varying degrees of both good and evil; this is

Common Law Summary And Analysis
Common Law claims are mostly determined by tort laws. Employees wishing to sue their employer
for workplace privacy may rely on privacy tort theories. Privacy tort is separated into four branches of
action: 1) Intrusion upon seclusion or solitude, or into private affairs, 2) public disclosure of
embarrassing private facts, 3) publicity which places a person in a false light in the public eye and 4)
appropriation of name or likeness. Intrusion of privacy tort is often used in many court cases between
employers and employees in the workplace ( Fazekas,2015).

Pinkley Northcraft (1994) emphasized that it is important to get a win win result between parties in
conflict management, maximizing benefits for every party. It is true that positive conflict promotes
understanding and leads to successful goals.
Based on the outcomes, conflict is usually divided into two types: functional conflict and
dysfunctional conflict (Balabanis, 1998).
2.2.1 Functional conflict
Functional or constructive conflict is described as a process which can facilitate the attainment of the
group s goals and to improve performance (Mckenna, 2006). It is helpful for individuals or groups to
create innovative thoughts and approaches to solve problems, and to performance better in the long
run. Perlow (2003) also argues that constructive decisions will be finally made by reasonable people
even they hold different opinions in uncertain conditions. This means functional conflict focuses on
finding a resolution to the problem.
One premise of the functional conflict is that people involved in the negotiation should be willing to
listen to one another and be interested in getting a solution that suits both sides. With this premise,
conflict can provide an important opportunity for growth. If the people is paranoid and selfish who
only considers his own profit or interest but cannot tolerant different opinions from one anther, there
won t be any chances for the success of the negotiation between both parties. Destructive

To me, it really seem idiotic taking my life away for just $8,000, but that is just my perception on
viewing things. Everyone has a different perception upon a subject, and George Bailey is frustrated
and he feels like he has no other option. When people are scared, depressed and mad, they have a
tendency of thinking irrational and therefore make careless choices. George Bailey s careless choice is
wanting to take his life away. Emotion also plays a very significant role in the movie. When George
Bailey s guardian angel makes it so that George was never born, he gets to see how the people and the
town are really affected by his nonexistence. Seeing that his wife Mary does not have a happy life and
that his old boss went to prison for putting drugs in those capsules that he could have prevented if he
was alive, is really emotional to him and he feels heartbroken. He notices that the once before Bailey
Park is now Potterville, and all the decent houses that were built there are now old slums and people
are in poverty due to Mr. Potter s lack of emotion and kindness. George witnesses all these
catastrophic changes and it pains him to see so much suffering that he could have prevented. George
Bailey is a kind man, and his emotional feelings tell him that in fact he does not want to die. He
realizes that whatever problems that he is having can be fixed and that the world is not coming to an

Theodore Roosevelt s Shaping of America Essay
Theodor Roosevelt, our 26th president, was a gruff politician who had a huge impact on America. He
is known for his accomplishments in the political, social, and business world during the Progressive

His disgust and shock validated his changing vote. During Roosevelt s third term, he received a

You are listening to WBML 95.5 FM live broadcasting on your radio dial. I am Alice Jordan reporting
your evening news on the Great War of 1914. Woodrow Wilson was the 28th President of the United
States during World War one. The outbreak of the Great War of 1914, also known as World War I,
started with the assassination of Austria Archduke Franz Ferdinand, who was shot to death by Gavrilo
Princip (Columbia Southern University, (CSU), n.d.). The Prime Minister of Great Britain during the
Great War was David George Lloyd (CSU, n.d.). World War1 was the very first modern and trench

War I created political dislodgments socially and economically that assisted in reshaping the
Americans life, even after Armistice Day (Faragher, Buhle, Czitrom, Armitage, 2009). The global
effect of World War I involving the U.S. in regards to other countries in the world remained profound
(Faragher, B, C, A, 2009). However, during the Great War on the home front, mixed reviews surfaced
concerning the war. Several groups feared for their love ones that were miles and miles away fighting
in the war (CSU, n.d.). During the Great, War women were given opportunities that were not available
before World War I, such as being able to be active participants in the war (America s Great War,

What our society has become truly amazes me every day. The things we watch and enjoy as a culture

stereotypes in our society. After watching and studying this movie I can only ask myself one question:
What have we become? The Longest Yard is a movie about a former NFL MVP quarterback (played

Yet the movie depicts the guard s team as thus. They are all of Caucasian descent and act like the
stereotypical white male athlete. They curse, take steroids, and readily look for reasons to attack the
inmates. There is, yet again, another hidden stereotype. Do all Caucasian athletes act that way? Not at
all, for everyone is different and nobody is the same person. The guards in The Longest Yard are also
aggressively racist. They look to attack the black males of the prison at all times and act in any way to
evoke a response from them. Yet this movie still can make anyone laugh. The overly aggressive nature
of the guards is so unrealistic that many audiences found it hysterical. Maybe this is why the inmates
of the movie were even funnier to watch.
The inmates in the prison are very comical to watch and study. They are portrayed heavily as
uneducated idiots. One side character in the movie sees a sign for football try outs and says, What are
football tree outs? this brings a great laughter from the audience as it is a funny portrayal of prison
stupidity. This truth is that no prison s inmates are that uneducated for they have libraries and
education materials in almost all prisons. The inmates, not unlikely the guards, show very aggressive
and vengeful attitudes and play with much anger during the game. You can see this in Crewe s intro in
the prison. He is stared at intensively by everyone in the prison and treated harshly. The most comical

Victorian Era Entertainment Essay
Freaks of Nature: The unique acts of Victorian entertainment.
When imagining the Victorian Age, it s typical to picture a fancy opera house with gold chandeliers,
lush gardens with big fountains, and women dancing around in big beautiful gowns drinking tea. As
common as these were, it is astonishing to find how many unique and unusual forms of entertainment
also took place in this era. From ghost shows and bull baiting, to illusion booths and freak exhibitions,
the Victorian era was a very enticing, and what some might call extreme time period when it came to
what they considered leisure.
Because of the Industrial Revolution, the expanding middle class had gained more time and money,
and the growth of the railways made travel easier and more efficient. Because of the vast social and
cultural changes, there was a boom in Victorian entertainment, making leisure more standard.
Entertainment has always been used as a way to sort of captivate one s attention, but in an era with
limited technology it is difficult to imagine how far people will go in order to attain this fascination.

Participant demographics. The class was designed based on having a larger percentage of internally

they were not the majority of the overall class population, due to a couple unexpected non manager

Hinduism View On Nature
Hindus View On Nature Hinduism has always been an environmental philosophy. Throughout the

Hindu view of nature is based upon the vedas and there ritualistic practices. The world of nature has
no separation of divineness work, they are two aspects that come to connect both to the same reality as

A Short Note On Internal And Internal Marketing
Internal Activities (Chapter 1) Internal Marketing means that each employees from different levels

It was in this spot, one of the major routes into the town, that the shot heard round the world became
the wake up call not only those in Massachusetts, but also those throughout the other American
colonies to begin fighting for freedom. At one in the morning, the Minutemen an organization of
young men trained to alert the countryside to an emergency as quickly as possible faced the Red
Coats. However, the fight had only lasted two or three minutes before the British were marching into
Concord. It was after this battle that the Concordians woke up per say and began to fight along with
the other colonists in the American Revolution. They became more aware of the controversy of British
policies and had take a republican philosophy towards the issues. These views allowed the citizens of

Mr. Boddy-Personal Narrative
It was 9:00 at night when the crime happened, but 5:30 a.m. the next day was when we got the case. I
am detective Kilburn and I have been called to solve it. The suspects we have for Mr. Boddy s death
are Colonel Mustard, Mrs. Peacock, Mr. Green, and Mrs. White. Today is January 27, 1957 and I live
in the lovely place of London. I started to read the case file about how Mr. Boddy was found and it
was apparently one of his maids that reported it. There just might be a connection. It s the first day of
interrogation. I first brought in Colonel Mustard since Mr. Boddy and him were never know to get
along. He say still and stiff across from me. Okay Mustard, I m going to ask you some basic questions.
Still no change in his posture or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Quality Monitoring And Coaching By Dr. Jon Anton And Anita...
My mind was racing after a recent #ICMIchat on the subject of contact center quality programs. As
the group exchanged ideas I felt inspired to develop my qualities philosophies into something you
could implement to improve your quality program today!
This might sound familiar a 100+ point quality form that covers everything from how to answer the
phone to the number of times you should use the customer s name. Line by line the agent is told all the
ways they could improve with a final pass/fail score.
As Ladona Stork discusses in her article, Why You Should Stop Nit Picking Your Call Center Rep s
Work, line by line nit picking doesn t work. Specifically, Ladona points out 2 common issues with this
approach:
1. The agent becomes overwhelmed
2. The agent feels unappreciated
Further proving the point, a study titled Best Practices in Quality Monitoring and Coaching by Dr. Jon
Anton and Anita Rockwell (free download from Benchmark Portal) noted the most common negative
feelings expressed by agents regarding their quality evaluation program:
¥ They are only trying to catch me doing something wrong
¥ I am being policed
¥ I feel like big brother is watching me
¥ I do not do as well when I am being watched
¥ I get very nervous when someone is watching me work
This isn t news to you. You have heard/experienced this in your center. So how do we do better? How
can we measure the quality of our service and ensure a positive customer experience without crushing

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to produce succinic acid from glycerol residue through anaerobic
fermentation process. The study of reaction parameters (pH, temperature and mass substrate) was
performed by using expert design software in glycerol recovery process. One factor at one time
(OFAT) method was performed as preliminary studies for selection of parameters range and
subsequently determine its optimum condition using response surface methodology (RSM). The
concentration of glycerol and succinic acid were determined using HPLC analysis. The FTIR
spectrometry was applied to examine the adsorption of organic element. Statistical optimization
(Respond Surface design Methodology) showed that optimal conditions were at pH, 2, temperature 35
0C and substrate 110.36 gram. At this optimum, 159.312 g/L was recovery of glycerol was obtained.
Succinic acid was produced via fermentation process by using Escherichia coli type k 12 under 19.67

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Essay
The quote (sourced from Tiatia Seath, 2016) of all forms of inequality, injustice in health care is the
most shocking Dr Martin Luther King Jr. will be used to illustrate four examples of injustices in
health. Firstly, patient dumping is gaining popularity among hospitals in the United States due to a
lack of funding. This example highlights the ways corporate organisations can readily evade
prosecution from injustices in health by creating an alternative to the traditional way of patient
dumping. Secondly, the example of gender inequality will be used to aid in the understanding the
importance of equality by using the Yentl Syndrome in relation to coronary diseases to demonstrate
injustices. Thirdly, this essay will discuss the social injustice in terms of the differences in health
among high socio economic status (SES) citizens and low SES citizens. The fundamental cause theory
will assist in answering the unknown causes of deaths among low SES citizens. As a final point, the
differences in mortality rates and life expectancy among Maori and Pakeha highlights inequalities
among ethnic groups in New Zealand. These examples effortlessly demonstrate four injustices in
health that are considered shocking. Such examples are merely the surface with an array of
inequalities in health stemming from a historical, social and cultural context.
The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights (2014) details the rise in patient dumping from in the last ten
years. Previously, hospitals were

Summary Of The Documentary FRESH By Ana Sofia Joanes
FRESH is a documentary by Ana Sofia Joanes, she explores the consequences of our current
agricultural system and documents the work of farmers, activists, non profit organizations and
business that advocate for sustainable agricultural practices to address the problem. The film presents
the farmers from Shenandoah Valley that practice traditional farming by raising and keeping their
chickens, pigs, cattle and soil in traditional ways that attempt to imitate the way in which nature
naturally works on nutrient and energy cycling. These practices challenge the industrial agricultural
model that use a high input of resources to produce large amounts of a single crops/species in
designated areas known as monocultures. Monoculture agricultures relies ... Show more content on

For example, the film presents the counterproductive result of feeding cows with contained brains of
infected cows that spread a deadly disease through the cattle known as the mad cow disease . This
type of intensive farming is characterized by its use of antibiotics and pesticides that cost higher prices
for farmers. Some farmers turn into the industrial farming not always by choice but for companies that
own or influence those intense farming practices. There is two agribusiness that has a monopoly the
market by selling agricultural technologies to farmers such as pesticides, GMO, and fertilizers that
often influence the public policy and farming practices. This system is unsustainable and produces
cheap food products which cost is not included in the market but people end up paying for due to the
externalities on health, social and environmental problems. As the documentary highly at the start,
Americans hate the most the inconvenience of things and therefore some people take for granted their
food and prefer to consumed processed products that are toxic, other people who live in food deserts
do not have much choice to consumed these toxic products but is the system that limits their
accessibility to affordable fresh

For example, its charge carriers have zero effective mass (called Dirac fermions) and exhibit ultra relativistic effects , therefore possess mobility s of up to 200,000 cm2V 1s 1; the material shows the half integer quantum Hall effect and shows absorption of 2.3% of the visible spectrum of light . Graphene of the highest quality and best structural integrity is acquired by mechanical exfoliation of highly oriented graphite . As graphene produced in this method is structurally superior, it is used as a reference and new methods are compared relative to it. This phenomenon is a result of the separation of carbon from the metal carbide, which occurs at a high rate upon cooling, in Ni grains and occurs heterogeneously at the various grain boundaries. Thus, carbon can precipitate out of the grain boundaries, resulting in greater thickness of graphene at the edges of a layer. However, extremely high quality uniform monolayers of graphene have been deposited using polycrystalline copper foils, on diameters of up to 76 cm2,10. Raman analysis shows that copper foils treated at atmospheric pressure, show up to 95% monolayer coverage, with 5% bi layer or tri layer graphene10. These values are not related to the growth time or the rate of heating and cooling. In addition, copper foils are relatively cost efficient and are etched simply with solvents that are readily available. Chemically etching the transition metal is the best method to transfer graphene deposited on the substrate, resulting in free floating graphene membranes. Copper is used as it has the lowest affinity and solubility of carbon, as it does not form a carbide phase, relative to Ni and Co . This is attributed to copper s filled 3d electron shell, possessing an electron configuration of [Ar] 3d104s1, which due to its symmetrical electronic configuration reduces reciprocal electronic repulsions. In addition, copper is able to transfer charge from the π electrons of the sp2 carbons to the empty 4s orbital of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The War Revenue Act of 1898 was repealed in 1903, one year after the end of the Spanish American War, but in that short amount of time the tax raised about $14.1 million (Jacobson, Raub, Johnson, 2007). In the early 20th century, after worldwide conflict cut into trade tariffs, Congress turned to another revenue source: The Revenue Act of 1916. This Act introduced the income tax system used today and also included an estate tax with similar features of today s system. Residents received an exemption of $50,000 with tax rates starting at one percent and climbing to 10 percent on estates over $5 million (Jacobson, Raub, Johnson, 2007). As the US entered World War I in 1917, estate taxes were increased. Unlike the previous Acts, the Act of 1916 was not repealed after the war ended, but instead the laws surrounding the estate tax framework shifted immensely over the next century. History of the Unlimited Marital Deduction At this point in history no provision for a marital deduction had been made and as a result, residents of community property states were at an advantage over residents of common law states. F. skinner,(March 20, 1904 August 18, 1990) is an American psychologist who believed that we do have such a thing as a mind, but that it is simply more productive to study observable behavior rather than internal mental events. The box contained a lever in the side and as the rat moved about the box it would accidentally knock the lever. As the lever move, a food pellet would drop into a container next to the lever. The rats quickly learned to go straight to the lever after a few times of being put in the box. The consequence of receiving food if they pressed the lever ensured that they would repeat the action again and again. Skinner illustrated negative reinforcement by placing a rat in his Skinner box and then subjecting it to an unpleasant electric current which caused it some discomfort. As the rat moved about the box it would accidentally knock into the lever. Immediately as it did so, the electric current would be switched off. The rats quickly learned to go straight to the lever after a few times of being put in the box. Katherine reports feelings of depression. Doctors are not sure what causes depression, but studies have shown that there is a change in brain activity and brain shape with the rapid change in a person s mood. The brain is reported to shrink, or at least certain parts do, such as the hippocampus, which function is to store and create a human s memories and the frontal lobes which are involved in motor function, problem solving, spontaneity, memory, language, initiation, judgment, impulse control, and social and sexual behavior. • 23. St. Thomas Aquinas Argument On God St. Thomas Aquinas is a famous philosopher from the medieval period who believed there was a god. One of Aquinas significant works in philosophy was his argument that God exists. In Aquinas argument, or also known as Summa Theologica, he uses five arguments to support the claim that God exist and four of them are cosmological argument. Cosmological arguments are arguments that try to reason that god exists because of the universe or cosmos leads to the conclusion that god exists. His first argument is the Argument From Motion. In the argument of motion Aquinas observed that we live in a world and universe that things are continuously moving, and he also noticed that to make something move something has to move or start it moving. To Aquinas this means that everything that is moving must have been moved by something or someone and there had to be a time when the thing wasn t moving. The mover for the beginning of everything in Aquinas argument is God. The second argument is the Argument From Causation which is very similar to the Argument From Motion. Aquinas thoughts were that everything that is caused had to be caused by something else. Nothing can cause it s self so there must be an thing that is uncaused and to Aquinas that thing is God because it can t go back forever. The Third argument is The Argument From Contingency. Contingency is a future or thing that could have not existed and Aquinas believe that the world can t always be contingent because then it could have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

International institutions can set standards of behavior and verify compliance and resolve disputes. • 26. No Country For Old Men Themes There are several apparent themes throughout the film No Country for Old Men . These themes express a particular opinion about human nature and life in general. Although this film is complex, and in my opinion littered with several themes, the three main themes are violence, good vs. evil, and fate vs. freewill. There are many reasons why these three are the most central themes in this movie, as well as many scenes that portray this observation. The fact that No Country for Old Men is a violent movie is apparent almost immediately. The first main character that we are introduced to visually is Anton Chigruh. Our first insight into his character is that he has a complete disregard for human life, which contributes to his eerie and unsettling persona; even the manner in which he kills people furthers this observation. He uses a pressurized cattle gun, as if the life of a cow and life of a human are one in the same. Furthermore, while watching this film you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... evil. In this scene, you see a glimpse into the struggle between good vs evil. This scene, of course, is a small example of the overall good vs. evil theme as a whole. In a larger more general sense, good vs. evil is shown in the plot of the story. The plot can be captured in these two questions: Will the sheriff Ed Tom Bell (the good guy) catch Anton Chigruh or Llewelyn Moss (the bad guys)? And in whose hands will the money fall? • 43. Mr. Boddy-Personal Narrative It was 9:00 at night when the crime happened, but 5:30 a.m. the next day was when we got the case. I am detective Kilburn and I have been called to solve it. The suspects we have for Mr. Boddy s death are Colonel Mustard, Mrs. Peacock, Mr. Green, and Mrs. White. Today is January 27, 1957 and I live in the lovely place of London. I started to read the case file about how Mr. Boddy was found and it was apparently one of his maids that reported it. There just might be a connection. It s the first day of interrogation. I first brought in Colonel Mustard since Mr. Boddy and him were never know to get along. He say still and stiff across from me. Okay Mustard, I m going to ask you some basic questions. Still no change in his posture or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Eventually, I found out what it was and it was a golden candlestick. With my gloves on, I took that for evidence too. • 44. Quality Monitoring And Coaching By Dr. Jon Anton And Anita... My mind was racing after a recent #ICMIchat on the subject of contact center quality programs. As the group exchanged ideas I felt inspired to develop my qualities philosophies into something you could implement to improve your quality program today! This might sound familiar a 100+ point quality form that covers everything from how to answer the phone to the number of times you should use the customer s name. Line by line the agent is told all the ways they could improve with a final pass/fail score. As Ladona Stork discusses in her article, Why You Should Stop Nit Picking Your Call Center Rep s Work, line by line nit picking doesn t work. Specifically, Ladona points out 2 common issues with this approach: 1. The agent becomes overwhelmed 2. The agent feels unappreciated Further proving the point, a study titled Best Practices in Quality Monitoring and Coaching by Dr. Jon Anton and Anita Rockwell (free download from Benchmark Portal) noted the most common negative feelings expressed by agents regarding their quality evaluation program: ¥ They are only trying to catch me doing something wrong ¥ I am being policed ¥ I feel like big brother is watching me ¥ I do not do as well when I am being watched ¥ I get very nervous when someone is watching me work This isn t news to you. You have heard/experienced this in your center. So how do we do better? How can we measure the quality of our service and ensure a positive customer experience without crushing the ... The study of reaction parameters (pH, temperature and mass substrate) was performed by using expert design software in glycerol recovery process. One factor at one time (OFAT) method was performed as preliminary studies for selection of parameters range and subsequently determine its optimum condition using response surface methodology (RSM). The concentration of glycerol and succinic acid were determined using HPLC analysis. The FTIR spectrometry was applied to examine the adsorption of organic element. Statistical optimization (Respond Surface design Methodology) showed that optimal conditions were at pH, 2, temperature 35 0C and substrate 110.36 gram. At this optimum, 159.312 g/L was recovery of glycerol was obtained. Succinic acid was produced via fermentation process by using Escherichia coli type k 12 under 19.67 g/L initial ... • 46. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Essay The quote (sourced from Tiatia Seath, 2016) of all forms of inequality, injustice in health care is the most shocking Dr Martin Luther King Jr. will be used to illustrate four examples of injustices in health. Firstly, patient dumping is gaining popularity among hospitals in the United States due to a lack of funding. This example highlights the ways corporate organisations can readily evade prosecution from injustices in health by creating an alternative to the traditional way of patient dumping. Secondly, the example of gender inequality will be used to aid in the understanding the importance of equality by using the Yentl Syndrome in relation to coronary diseases to demonstrate injustices. Thirdly, this essay will discuss the social injustice in terms of the differences in health among high socio economic status (SES) citizens and low SES citizens. The fundamental cause theory will assist in answering the unknown causes of deaths among low SES citizens. As a final point, the differences in mortality rates and life expectancy among Maori and Pakeha highlights inequalities among ethnic groups in New Zealand. These examples effortlessly demonstrate four injustices in health that are considered shocking. Such examples are merely the surface with an array of inequalities in health stemming from a historical, social and cultural context. The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights (2014) details the rise in patient dumping from in the last ten years. Previously, hospitals were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The film presents the farmers from Shenandoah Valley that practice traditional farming by raising and keeping their chickens, pigs, cattle and soil in traditional ways that attempt to imitate the way in which nature naturally works on nutrient and energy cycling. These practices challenge the industrial agricultural model that use a high input of resources to produce large amounts of a single crops/species in designated areas known as monocultures. Monoculture agricultures relies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, the film presents the counterproductive result of feeding cows with contained brains of infected cows that spread a deadly disease through the cattle known as the mad cow disease . This type of intensive farming is characterized by its use of antibiotics and pesticides that cost higher prices for farmers. Some farmers turn into the industrial farming not always by choice but for companies that own or influence those intense farming practices. There is two agribusiness that has a monopoly the market by selling agricultural technologies to farmers such as pesticides, GMO, and fertilizers that often influence the public policy and farming practices. This system is unsustainable and produces cheap food products which cost is not included in the market but people end up paying for due to the externalities on health, social and environmental problems. As the documentary highly at the start, Americans hate the most the inconvenience of things and therefore some people take for granted their food and prefer to consumed processed products that are toxic, other people who live in food deserts do not have much choice to consumed these toxic products but is the system that limits their accessibility to affordable fresh ...
