PICC Line Analysis
When hearing the term PICC line it maybe rather confusing; that is unless you re in the medical
profession or have a family member that has one. First, the name that groups all of them together is
called; a central venous catheter. A PICC line is just one of many. It is described as a peripherally
inserted central catheter; otherwise called PICC line. It is a long, thin, flexible tube that is inserted
under the skin into a vein in the arm rather than a vein in the neck or chest. ( WebMD ). The purpose
of the PICC is to give medicines, fluids and blood products over an extended period of time. Those
with cancer, kidney disease, diabetes, Lyme disease and total parenteral nutrition or (TPN) are
common reason that a PICC line could be used for. PICC lines are thought to be a safer and simpler
way to distribute needed treatments. Fewer than 10% of patients have trouble or generate a venous
injury. ( Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters and Other Intravascular Devices , 2014). ... Show

Tuckman And Lorge s Journal Of Educational Psychology
Tuckman, J., Lorge, I. (1952). The influence of a course on the psychology of the adult on attitudes
toward old people and older workers. Journal of Educational Psychology, 43(7), 400 407.
doi:10.1037/h0062469
In a study by Tuckman and Lorge, two questionnaires were given to a 147 graduate students at the
beginning and end of a course, in order to assess their attitudes towards older workers. A shorter
questionnaire was given to students at the end of the course, bearing only one difference; a statement
telling subjects that their answers would have no effect on their final grade in the course. The age
range of students consisted of 20 to 51 years of age. The first questionnaire pertained to old people in

Measures used include; the Fraboni Scale on Ageism (FSA), Palmore s Facts on Aging Quiz (FAQ),
and the Aging Anxiety Scale (AAS). Older participants were found to be less ageist, while participants
with increased knowledge about aging tended to be less anxious towards aging and less ageist.
Regarding gender; men were significantly more ageist than women (p=.002). This article brings into
light many theories which correlate with attitudes towards the elderly, such as; working with older
adults, living with older adults, and knowledge about aging. It seems that not only stereotypes of aging
influence attitudes towards older adults. This study brings into light importance of time spent with

Compare And Contrast Don Juan Movie And Play
Although both in the movie and the play the characters Don Juan have similar abilities seducing
woman, there is a great deal of difference between movie Don Juan and play Don Juan. Don Juan
character description in play is more of a feisty character. He is one of those characters that if you tell
them they can t do something, they go out or their way to prove you wrong or if you challenge them
they go above and beyond, crossing all limits to win the bet. It seems dignity and pride are all they
live for and nothing else matters. Don Juan lived for the present and winning the bet was the most
important thing to him. Finally, when he did find someone he loved (he claimed he loved her) his

Essay on Net-a-Porter Handbag Swot Anaysis
SS12 Handbag Buy S.W.O.T Analysis Strengths One of Net a porters biggest strengths is that,
because there is no physical limit to the amount of designers stocked, a very wide range can be offered
in comparison to a department store. This in turn means that there can be a large variety of choice at
different price points, catering for both the bridge and high fashion customers. The Net a Porter
handbag buy includes a considerable choice of prices and quality from which to choose from. From
entry price DVF bags at £265 to the seasons must have bags at £2000 upwards, customers from all
ends of the luxury spectrum are catered for. The Spring / Summer edit has a great colour mix and
covers all of the main SS12 handbag trends. With ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As China is the fastest growing luxury fashion customer base, it in imperative that they are catered for
in the Net a Porter handbag buy. Lack of exclusivity in the handbag offering. While exclusivity is
strong across Net a porter as a whole, the handbag edit does not have many exclusive styles. Almost
all everything can be found on the Harvey Nichols, Selfridges, Harrods or My Wardrobe websites. In
particular the Selfridges website has over 45 exclusive handbag styles online, from a variety of brands
which include Mulberry, Alexander Wang and Anya Hindmarch. To combat this Net a porter should
negotiate world exclusivity on a number of it bags for next season, either by having early delivery to
ensure a week or two of exclusivity or by commissioning an exclusive colour option in the most
popular styles. At present Net a porter has no representation for Celine handbags, which has become
the most covetable handbag brand across the high fashion world and accounts for a considerable
percentage of handbag sales in London department stores. As they grow from strength to strength it
would be advisable for Net a porter to try and include Celine in their edit. Opportunities As Net a
Porter only operates online, it has not been possible to buy some brands such as Louis Vuitton, Chanel
or Celine. Luxury brands like these have been wary of the digital realm due to fears that it might dilute
its exclusivity, but many are now moving more and more into digital and

The Influence Of Resveratrol Supplementation On Various...
Cardiovascular disease has become one of the leading causes of death worldwide (1). In their
textbook, Smolin and colleagues state that resveratrol [...] may help to prevent cardiovascular disease
(2, p.479). Indeed, observational studies have provided evidence that populations that regularly
consume substantial amount of the compound resveratrol also have a lower incidence of
cardiovascular disease (CVD) (3,4). One meta analysis calculated that drinking 150 mL of red wine
(containing resveratrol) per day provided the optimal protection from cardiovascular disease (5).
However, no experimental evidence exists to directly link resveratrol supplementation with incidence
of cardiovascular disease. A growing body of experimental evidence ... Show more content on

Twenty healthy, age matched (36 years of age, on average) subjects were randomized to either receive
200 mg of Polygonum cuspidatum extract (PCE) (containing 40 mg of resveratrol) or a placebo daily
for 6 weeks. Blood samples were collected at baseline and at 1, 3 and 6 weeks. Oxidative stress was
determined by analyzing blood for reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation. Inflammatory state was
determined by assessing nuclear NFKB DNA binding activity (via gel shift assay) and TNFα mRNA
expression (via PCR testing). Resveratrol supplementation was found to significantly reduce ROS
generation, NFKB DNA binding activity, and TNFα mRNA expression compared to both baseline and
the placebo group at 3 and 6 weeks. (see figure 1). The authors therefore concluded that 6 weeks of a
resveratrol containing supplement could reduce both oxidative stress and inflammation. A major
weakness of the study is that the authors failed to report the sex of the subjects making it challenging
to compare these findings with other studies. Furthermore, this study used a PCE supplement, which
contains several other antioxidants in addition to resveratrol. The possibility therefore remains that
these other compounds or an interaction effect could have been responsible for some of changes that
were observed.

Crime Scene Investigation Process
Crime Scene Investigation Process
What do you know about crime scene investigations other than what you see on TV? Crime scenes
vary with the amount of physical evidence which is ordinarily expected to be recovered. The only
thing consistent about crimes scenes is their inconsistency. A crime scene investigation can described
as the application of what has become known as Locard Exchange Principle . The Locard Exchange
Principle is mainly a theory that was established by Dr. Edmond Locard . Crime scene investigator
document crime scenes in detail and collect physical evidence. Crime scene investigators include
recorder to record the data, sketch artists to sketch the scene, photographers to take photos of the
crime scene and evidence collectors.
The proper steps of crime scene investigation are: Secure the crime scene, thoroughly examine the
crime scene, photograph the crime scene, bag and tag evidence, construct a detailed search of the
crime scene, analyze and collect data, discharge the crime scene, videotaping, sketching. And in the
process of investigating a crime there are two types of crime scenes you have primary, secondary.
A primary crime scene is where the crime actually occurred. A secondary crime scene is basically a
subsequent crime. What is The Locard Exchange Principle ? The Locard Exchange Principle is a
theory that states once you come into communication with another person, place or thing you are
exchanging physical material. Dr. Edmond says

The Most Memorable Events
I live in a world where I determine greatness by the number of memories that remain with me as I
grow older. It s almost a sport, trying as much as possible to create all these memorable events.
Everything I did, I ensured it would be something that stood out to me if I had to recall it, and
eventually, I reached a point where every event in my mind was just a jumble of stand out moments.
This, however, never stopped me from adding on to the endless list I had created. There is a fixed
pattern; if you want to make something memorable, do something out of the blue. I planned out every
last detail in my mind and ran through the series of events over and over till it sounded perfect to me.
Executing it was the least of my worries because once you ve got your mind set on something, it never
fails to go the way you want it to. One of the more memorable events was the proposal to my wife. I
remember it clearly in my mind, how I got down on one knee, how I waited while she took off the
blindfold and the tears of joy that followed after. That moment led to a cascade of events soon after,
creating a novel in my head. You see, it was not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Memories can be unforgettable, traumatic experiences that shake you to the very core of your
existence. However, as I have learned to plan everything out, I have only ever experienced one
negative incident. Those metal bars that were stronger than my living flesh, locked me away from the
glistening sun. The death threats, the nasty looks, the unforgiving guards, all because I wanted a pair
of shoes. My life saw its end then, and I just hoped for eyes to shut and never open again. I cried and
raged and bruised my body while slamming into those metal rods, and my mind lost all sense of
clearness. Not until three months later did I see my wife s blue eyes, holding our little baby in her
arms. I will never ever forget this, was my only thought, angry that my own game had got the better of

This act, when described, seems to have a positive impact yet there are many issues concerning this
act. The affordable care act illustrates the idea of public policy in that it took various representatives of
the Obama administration to draw up a plan for this act. For an idea to become a possibility of passing
and being implemented, it needs countless hours of crafting and reviewing by the men and women in
Congress so that it can be a success. The New York Times summarized the overall impact of the
Affordable Care Act on a variety of dimensions. The number of uninsured people have reduced
significantly, as a result of this act. Yet, about 7.3 million people remain enrolled in their own private
insurance coverage through the online marketplaces but this act still has insured more than enough
people and has become a great success story. Additionally, 85% of those who qualified for federal
subsidies were aided in paying their premiums. (Tavenner) Moreover, for those who qualified for
subsidies through the federal exchange, the subsidies lowered their insurance premium by 76% on
average. Yet, the challenge is for middle income persons who don t qualify for subsidies and are more
likely to have a hard time accepting premium costs of this act.(Tavenner) New York Times also states
that it is too early to tell whether the act has affected health outcomes. Even though healthcare costs

Theories Of Growth And Growth Models
2.2.3 Growth Theories
Under the growth theories some theories of growth and growth models will be reviewed;
i) The Harrod Domar Growth Model
In economic literature, this model is called capital only model. Harrod and Domar (1948) took over
from Rostow, because Rostow had some unanswered questions. The model stated that saving is a
certain proportion of national income and net investment is defined as the change in capital stock (K).
The model further assumes that there is some direct relationship between the size of the capital stock,
(K), and total GNP, (Y). This follows that any addition to the capital stock in the form of new
investment will bring about corresponding increase in the flow of national output, GNP. This
relationship is known in economics as the capital output ratio. If the capital output ratio is defined as k
and assume further that the national savings ratio, s, is a fixed proportion of national output (e.g. 6%)
and that total new investment is determined by the level of total savings, we can construct the
following simple model of economic growth Balami (2006).
Savings (S) is some proportion, S, of national income (Y) such that we have the simple equation
S = SY ....................................................................................... (2.1)
Net investment (I) is defined as the change in the capital stock, K, and can be represented by ΔK such
that
I = ΔK ...................................................................................... (2.2)
But because the total capital stock, K, bears a direct relationship to total national income or output, Y,

The Eradication Of Beta Cells And Production Of Type 1...
The purpose of this assignment is to review the available information on diabetes type I, directing
attention to the participation of the immune system in the eradication of beta cells and the production
of type 1 diabetes. The eradication of beta cells will be explored with regards to the administration of
insulin within the blood stream. The second question to be reviewed is the severe influence of blood
glucose administration. The correlation of diabetes with regards to mood alterations, hyperglycaemia
and unsubstantiated weight loss will be explored. Furthermore, the patient´s enhanced appetite,
increased urge to urinate and severe thirst detailed. Moreover, the potential outcomes on the six weeks
foetus within the first trimester of Carol´s pregnancy will be detailed.
1. Pathophysiology of Type 1 Diabetes.
Type 1 diabetes (insulin dependent), often develops in childhood or early adulthood and is the
outcome of the reaction of the autoimmune system which is produced as a result of the destruction of
beta cells from the pancreas, when the body does not produce insulin. This usually happens because
the insulin secreting cells of the pancreas do not function, or they are simply not there, have been
destroyed or they are in small quantities that they cannot produce any insulin to properly control blood
sugar levels. Since insulin is necessary to sustain life, the missing insulin has to be replaced and it is
managed with regular insulin injections, the dose which is

Inhumanity In The Book Thief
The Book Thief is a historical novel written by Markus Zusak. It provides the readers a deeper
understanding of the lives of Jews and Germans in Germany during the brutal Nazi regime and how
they manage to survive. This includes not only the physical survival of the fittest, but also the survival
of their moral beliefs. In addition to the author s theme of inhumanity and humanity of man, he
provides a background story for the characters in the book and how they are similar and different by
their moral beliefs, their goals, their guilt, and their relationship with words. Two of the characters that
are mentioned throughout the book to remind the readers of their struggles to survive in the Third
Reich are Liesel and Max. Liesel is the foster daughter of Hans and Rosa Hubermann and the book
thief who realizes the power of words in the Nazi community while Max is a fist fighter and German
Jew who hides in Hans s basement to escape from Nazi incarceration and eventually survives the

Why Shouldn T The Gold Standard Be Legalized
The one item that people obsess about day in and day out is money. Our currency runs the world and
the choices we make. However, before the standard federal reserve notes, gold was used in exchange
for goods. The gold standard was created, but then it was abandoned; it is still debated today whether
or not the gold standard will ever return. The gold standard was created to standardize transactions in
the trade market. According to econlib.org, The United States...switched to gold de facto [a gold
standard adopted by England] in 1834...when Congress passed the Gold Standard Act. This new
money method, which guaranteed that the government would redeem any amount of paper money for
its value in gold, allowed for people to purchase items without carrying around loads of gold coins.
The Federal Reserve was created by Congress in 1913 to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the Federal Reserve did not have much time to begin its work because World War I
commenced, suspending the gold standard. Countries printed more money to pay for military
necessities, and this excessive printing caused hyperinflation. After the war, most countries returned to
the gold standard in order to maintain the value of gold. And then the unthinkable happened: the stock
market crashed. Countries abandoned the gold standard once again. According to thebalance.com, The
Federal Reserve kept raising interest rates. It was trying to make dollars more valuable and dissuade
people from further depleting the U.S. gold reserves. These higher rates worsened the Depression by
making the cost of doing business more expensive. Many companies went bankrupt, creating record
levels of unemployment. Luckily, in 1933, newly elected President Roosevelt resolved

Uniform Child Custody Purification Case
In 1997 the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws (NCCUSL) created the
Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (UCCJEA) to replace the Uniform Child
Custody Jurisdiction Act (UCCJA), which was created in 1968. Like the UCCJA, the new and
improved UCCJEA served the purpose of deter[ing] the removal or kidnapping of children,
eliminat[ing] interstate jurisdictional competition, and prevent[ing] states from relitigating custody
decisions from other states. (Ehrlich, p. 411) Since its creation, the UCCJEA has been a major go to
reference for Courts in all states except Massachusetts and Vermont, who have not yet adopted said
act, when considering the technicalities of jurisdiction for child custody cases. By means of applying
the UCCJEA to a particular child custody case, one can look at the family of John and Suzy Johnson,

Water Deprivation Of The People Living
Water deprivation of the people living in rural communities is a widely documented occurrence all
over the world. It is estimated that over a billion people across the world do not have access to safe,
clean drinking water (WHO/UNICEF, 2006), even though as a basic human need it is an essential
component of the right to life. Contaminated water endangers both the physical and social health of all
people and it is a disregard to human dignity. In this context, decreasing this number by half by 2015
was one of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.
Water supply does not possess the merits of a pure public good, as it is usually rivalrous and often
excludable, subject to the nature of supply, in that water can be both private and public good, as well
as somewhere in between. Because of such characteristics, water is not a customary marketable good
and markets can result in its poor allocations, if designed badly. Also, there are robust enticements to
freeride on water infrastructure as it is hard to make the provision of water fully excludable. The
economic characteristics of water both being rival and also provide collective benefit to all makes it an
important good, but complicate how to best provide it (Furlong 2013). Such market and state failures
in water delivery lead to social exclusion and inequity. While markets can be used to allocate water
distribution, strong policy structure and legislation are needed to ensure that the provision is both
equitable

Cause And Effect Of Smartphone Technology
Imagine; it is 1989 and the only kind of portable phone in existence is a flip phone, which only the
wealthy can afford. Flash Forward twenty eight years and there are four different brands of
smartphones, with over forty versions all together. There are endless options to transfer information
from one person to another, and millions of applications that can be downloaded. Since the early
2000s, smartphone technology has been rapidly changing at a rate that can not be slowed down. The
successful advance in this technology has done more harm than good. The cause of smartphone
technology become better has had many effects such as; creating antisocial people, more bullying,
people not using natural intelligence, and overall they are taking over people s lives. Smartphones do
not only distract us from interacting with those who are physically with us. They also give people the

Importance Of The Temple Of Heaven
Architecture is something we are observing, living and being in relation every day. However, it seems
that we may only consider the modern architectures constructed nowadays but forget the importance
to appreciate those ancient architectures, especially those ancient Chinese architectures we should be
proud of. In this essay, Temple of Heaven in Beijing is going to be discussed and evaluated.
According to Your Beijing China Travel Guide, a famous website introducing different tourist spots in
Beijing to foreigners, the Temple of Heaven is now located in the Chongwen District, Beijing. It was
where emperors of the Ming Dynasty (1368 1644) and Qing Dynasty (1644 1911) held the Heaven

It is actually the Temple of Heaven in the practical sense. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the
emperors would offer sacrifice here to the Heaven on the day of the Winter Solstice in every year.
Imperial Vault of Heaven was constructed along the middle axis, locating at the north of the Altar to
Heaven. It is the place housing the Gods tablets to be used at the Heaven Worship Ceremony. It is
famous for the surrounding Echo Wall, and also the Three Echo Stones and the Dialogue Stone, which
are all utilizing the theory of sound wave, showing the intelligence of constructions. Crossing the
Danbi Bridge from the Imperial Vault of Heaven, the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests is presented. It
is a big palace with round roof and three layers of eaves, where the emperor held the worship
ceremonies to pray for good weather and abundant harvests. It is the earliest building of the Temple of

How Does Ray Bradbury Use Descriptive Language In All...
In all summer in a day by Ray Bradbury, He shows how he uses descriptive language and metaphors
to tell the story more in depth and in more detail. The story is about how a girl (Margot) is on a new
planet and the sun only comes every 7 years for just one hour. And her classmates are being mean
because she remembers the sun and they don t believe her because last time the sun came they were
only 2 or 3 years old.
They only know the sun by blushing the Author says. This shows a way of metaphor, because this is
the only way they see or feel the sun, when it is not there. The other day they red a book, about the
sun. They said it was like a lemon it was big and yellow. Also one classmate says I think the sun is a

Analysis Of The Book East Of Eden
Title: East of Eden
Significance of the title: The novel is intended to be an allegory for or a retelling of the first few

Cain and Abel, which is an important aspect of this story.

Setting: The story begins in Connecticut but is focused in Salinas Valley, CA. The story spans a good
half century, from the Civil War era to World War I.

Adam and Charles Trask. Adam falls in love with her and they move to Salinas Valley. Cathy becomes

Hong Kong With Our Newest Acquisition Yammer
In conclusion I recommend we expand to Hong Kong with our newest acquisition Yammer.
When we look at the financial health of the company and our current ratio is 2.50 meaning for every
dollar the company owes it has $2.50 of assets, and the quick ratio is 2.44. These are huge and strong
ratios and the main reason I know the company can expand its operations overseas with this new
product. The tax situation is Hong Kong is very attractive to all types of companies. The rates here in
the United States the company pays 27.1%, while in Hong Kong the tax rate is only 16%. This tax
saving alone has the ability to increase profits. The company s debt is very low as indicated by the
debt ratio of
.48, so fir every .48 cents the company owns $1.00 worth of assets. The company currently generates
.13cents in profit for every one dollar in profit. These ratios will go up with less of a tax burden. If we
take the 16% tax and apply it to gross profits we show a nice increase in net profit and all the financial
ratios go up respectively. This potential addition profit will benefit current and future shareholders
with elevated dividends and more retained earnings which we can use to finance other operations or
expand the operation that I am proposing.
I feel we can expand this potential operation after only 2 years. I feel that time frame will allow us the
opportunity to fine tune the Yammer product for the Pacific Rim, while still offering the existing
product for transplants in this

Difference Between Shallow And Deep Complexity
Abstract In order to understand fault structure, there is a need to first understand fault complexity.
Images of faults at depth and near surface reveal complexities that characterize properties such as
geometry, composition and stress states of that fault s structure. While this is true for both passive and
induced imaging, a true passive source image is without the changes in fault structure due to any
induced mechanism. This is something to consider when discussing fault complexity at near surface
versus depth, as it is already difficult to distinguish the direction of complexity within a fault already.
Current seismic research has been unable to understand if fault complexity is derived from a point at
depth, or expands from surface complexity into depth. It is critical to understand the relationship
between shallow and deep complexity in order to predict where that origin may have been and what
caused its expansion. Passive source imaging has been able to help describe the factors that attribute to
this complexity by providing a way to visually see subsurface data, but has not yet fully answered the
complexity question.
Introduction
Fault structure is the aftermath of a slipping event in the lithosphere that produces high velocity
compression waves that can be imaged as they travel through and across the surface of the lithosphere.
These waves affect and change, or in other words add complexity to the structure of the lithosphere
within the fault zone. This

Employee Attitude
1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY An attitude is a hypothetical construct that represents an
individual s degree of like or dislike for an item. Attitudes are generally positive or negative views of a
person, place, thing, or event this is often referred to as the attitude object. People can also be
conflicted or ambivalent toward an object, meaning that they simultaneously possess both positive and
negative attitudes toward the item in question.
Attitude: The importance of attitude in understanding psychological phenomenon was given formal
recognition early in the history of social psychology. From the time of the concept s entry in to the
language of psychology until now, interest in attitude has been strong and growing. ... Show more

2. Ego Defensive: The ego defensive functions of attitude acknowledge the importance of
psychological thought. Attitude may be acquired by facing threats in the external world or becoming
aware of his own unacceptable impulses.
3. Value Orientation: The value orientation function takes in to account attitudes that are held because
they express a person s self image, or bycues that engage the person s values and make them salient to
him.
4. Knowledge: The knowledge function of attitude is based on a person s need to maintain a stable,
organized and meaningful structure of the world.
5. Attitude that provides a standard against which a person evaluates the aspects of his world and serve
as the knowledge function too. These functions of attitudes affect the individual s way of interpreting
the information coming to him. Since attitudes intervene between work requirements and work
responses, information about how people feel about their jobs can be quite useful in the predication
about work response. Thus, these types of attitudes can portray areas of investigation for making the
individual and the organization more compatible.
Factors in Attitude Formation: The attitudes are learned. Though there are different approaches as how
learning works and is acquired by an individual, generally it is held that individuals learn things from
the environment in which they interact. Thus, for attitude formation, all these factors must be

Dr. Gregory House Listening Style Analysis
Although I am just being introduced to the television show House M.D., I have seen several different
aspects of interpersonal communication through each of the main characters. The most profound
aspect of communication demonstrated in the episode Three Stories, is listening. McCornack
describes listening as receiving, attending to, understanding, responding to, and recalling sounds and
visual images (147). In specific, Dr. Gregory House, Dr. Allison Cameron and the students all exhibit
key characteristics of the four listening styles with the incorporation of the functions of listening. First
off, the main character of House M.D., Dr. Gregory House, can be described as an action oriented and
time oriented listener. An action oriented listener wants brief, to the point, and accurate messages from
others information they can then use to make decisions or initiate courses of action (McCornack 160).
Similarly, a time oriented listener prefers brief and concise encounters (McCorncack 161). Dr. House
displays both of these type of listening styles in not only the way he listens to information, but also in
the way he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main characters revealed in the episode Three stories have displayed what it takes to be one of
these type of listeners. I have discussed to very different doctors that provide distinctively different
patient care based on their listening style. The students attending Dr. House s lecture also played a key
role in demonstrating a different listening style that many students in any educational career can relate.
Their listening styles have intertwined with the functions of listening they use, because the way you
intend to listen affects the style in which you do. Overall, House M.D. provided excellent examples of
not only the different styles of which one listens, but also the functions in which he/she intends to

The United States has laws that affect the hiring practices of all country based companies. Regulations
of federal agencies such as the U.S. Department of Labor protects employees in the United States
from discrimination to wages. Other Countries may not have the same protection for its citizens as an
example. Although U.S. based organizations would not be bound to the wage laws of other countries,
they are usually morally bound to ethical practices by which they establish core principles that are
filtered down to their employees. Jeopardizing this standard of ethics would have a broad based effect
on the organizations overall effectiveness considering a platform of which to maintain a standard that
all employees can act on behalf of. Compromising ethics and social value could present major public
relation issues. A perfect example of this would be the Hershey Corporation. The Hershey Corporation
of the United States is North America s largest chocolate producer, however at one time most of its
cocoa was purchased from West African Nations. These Nation s had a very poor record of labor

children were employed by the Hershey Corporation and therefore claimed plausible deniability. A
public relations campaign ensued which prompted the corporation

The Sport of Soccer Essay
The Sport of Soccer Not much is known about the origin of soccer. However, the Greeks and Romans
played football and ball kicking games. The London Football Association developed the first sets of
rules in 1863. British sailors and settlers brought the game to India, South America and Europe.
During the late 19th century, soccer was brought to the United States. However, it did not prove
popular until after World War I. In 1908, soccer was made an Olympic event. Since 1952, Hungary
has won the most gold medals with three. Even today, although it is an international game, it has been

In soccer there are many rules that have changed. Back in the 1700 s the playing field was shaped like
a square. There were only four major markings on the field. They were the touchlines, goal lines,
halfway line, and the eighteen yard lines. When the Football Association (FA) was created in 1863, the
first uniform rules were made. FIFA now requires that soccer be played on a rectangular field between
one hundred and one hundred thirty yards long and between fifty and one hundred yards wide. For
international matches the field should be between one hundred ten and one hundred twenty yards long
and between seventy and eighty yards wide. There are two goals, one placed at each end of the field.
They are eight feet tall, eight yards across, and six feet deep. The lines that mark the sides of the field
are called touchlines; those that mark the two ends of the field are called goal lines. Also there are five
other distinctive lines. They are the halfway lines, the goal areas, the penalty areas, the corner marks,
and the center circle. In 1908 soccer was put in every summer Olympic Game. Since 1952 Hungary
has won the most gold medals. By 1930 the interest in soccer was high enough to ensure the success
of the first World Cup. Even though only thirteen Countries entered that was still enough to have the
first World Cup. Soccer didn t come to the United States until 1620. Soccer first became recognized in

Saudi Arabia Essays
In the heart of the Middle East is a country known by many Westerners for its oil production and,
often, extremist beliefs of groups within the country. The country is Saudi Arabia, and though it is
thought of by many as a rather backward country, Saudi Arabia has a rich history and culture, and it is
a country that revolves around Islam and the worship of Allah as the one true God.
For about fifteen hundred years, Saudi Arabia s history has centered on one major theme: Islam.
Muhammad, the founder of Islam, was born around 570 A.D. in the city of Mecca. Early in the 7th
century A.D., according to Islamic belief, Muhammad, while meditating in a cave on Mount Hira, was
visited by the angel Gabriel. Gabriel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then, in the mid 1700s, Saudi ruler Muhammad ibn Saud, from the Saud dynasty, forged an alliance
with a religious reformer named Muhammad ibn Abd al Wahhab. Ibn Abd al Wahhab was discontent
with the growing disregard for Islamic teachings in Arabia. He taught that the people should return to
strict observance and practice of Islamic laws. Adherents to this belief, called Wahhabis, were backed
by the armies of the Saud dynasty, and together, these forces began a movement. Areas that converted
to Wahhabi beliefs were taken over by the Saud family, thus increasing the size of the Saudi State.
However, by 1891, most Saudi control of Arabia was taken by tribal chiefs and by the Ottoman
Empire. Then, in 1902, a young Saudi leader named Abd al Aziz ibn Saud began to reclaim land that
his ancestors had lost. He also sought diligently to revive the Wahhabi movement, which heavily
emphasized the Islamic beliefs and strict adherence to them. In 1932, Ibn Saud unified the regions he
conquered into one state an Islamic state that he dubbed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Throughout the next fifty years, under the reign of Ibn Saud and his descendents, Saudi Arabia grew
wealthier as a nation, while striving to keep its Islamic values at the same time. In 1982, King Fahd
came to the throne. He sought to maintain Saudi Arabia traditional Islamic values, while he also

Social Exclusion In The Fever Van
Social workers engage with some of the most vulnerable demographics in the population in order to
facilitate change, development, and empowerment (AASW, 2010). Consequently, themes such as
illness, adversity, grief, and resilience are all topics explored extensively within the domain (Rosen
Zeira, 2000). These themes evident in The Fever Van are encountered, better understood, and
mediated through the use of research based theories. Using such theories, the aforementioned themes
will be explored through the lens of The Fever Van.
When engaging in social work it is of the utmost importance that practitioners enlist the use of
sensitivity and inclusive practice when addressing vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals
(Chenoweth McAuliffe, 2012). Social exclusion and marginalisation are factors that serve to
disempower and isolate people. An individual can suffer social exclusion as a result of several
different factors such as gender, race, or religion. This identified difference fosters power dynamics
which operate against the rights of those who are othered (Chenoweth McAuliffe, 2012). In the case of
The Fever Van, the social exclusion at risk of occurring is due to the illness of the child and the
perceived contamination of the family. The assumptions made about those involved contributes to
ostracization and inequality between groups. It furthermore results in responses such as prejudice and
discrimination (Lum, 2007). Disengagement with the family of a child who was sick was common and
those who earned a living through food were often forced out of business. When engaging with
circumstances such as this, it is integral to employ cultural competency, whereby the practitioner
recognises the value and strengths of the individual in question. Reflective practice is also important
as it allows social workers to analyse their own assumptions and beliefs regarding the issue (Mullaly,
2007). Perceived differences and social exclusion are rampant throughout social work history. Another
example of this can be seen in the former British migrant children (Irizarry Kleanthi, 2004). These
girls were ostracised and discriminated against due to their English roots. However, through the use of
sensitivity,

Team Reflection Paper
Introduction When I was a freshman in high school, I had one of my worst group experiences within
my entire educational career. I was assigned a project in my World History course and was assigned to
a group with one of my best friends and two boys who were known for their lack of goals in school. I
wouldn t call this a team project because, due to the situation, it s obvious that we were not a team. It
was clear to my friend and I that this was going to be a tough process because we knew the history
that these two boys had with contributing to the work needed by each teammate. Both boys were well
known to the teachers as well because they were two of the high school s biggest troublemakers. One
would assume the situation could have been helped, but that is not that case. We began our project and
noticed that the boys preferred to talk about things that did not matter to the assignment and not to
begin working on their half of the project. In an attempt to bring their attention back to the task at
hand, we tried many things over one class period. First, we tried multiple times, just telling the boys
that we needed to get our work done, which failed every time and resulted in arguments. Then, we
decided to tell our teacher that we felt the boys were not willing to participate and were worried that
their disregard for the class and our team s goals would affect our individual grades for the project.
Instead of addressing the boys, our teacher decided that we would need to

Whiteness and Citizenship
Captain Ahab s eulogy of whiteness shows that the word white implies more than a chromatic
description. White is an untenable perfection that has haunted the American psyche since colonial
times. The idea of white spiritual superiority can only be enforce by a terrorist politico legal system,
based on brutalizing the non whites and creating a national fantasy. A national fantasy defined by
Lauren Berlant as the means to designate how national culture becomes local through the images,

Whites were usually better off than the non whites, but some groups outside whiteness were better
than poor whites. At this point it is very important to make clear the psychological association
between white and empowered present in much of the whiteness field, an assumption that Sugrue
argues can be very deceiving.
The concept of whiteness has father a strong flow of academic work to explore whiteness, a problem
to be explained and addressed. Theodore W. Allen argues that the idea of whiteness was born in the
need for social control. In the introduction of the book, Allen claims that whiteness did not exist
before 1705, and he pinpoints the 1705 Virginia Law codifying race as the beginning of whiteness in
America. This same anti racist trend was present in Roediger s Towards the Abolition of Whiteness.
Roediger s focus upon whites and their racial identity and making whiteness, rather than simply white
racism, the focus of study ... [showing] the impact that the dominant racial identity in the US has had

argues how white Irish workers had class conscious stake in whiteness as means of escape from the
worst jobs associated with non white workers. Irish assimilation into American society was facilitated
by their stress upon whiteness, and how they accepted white consciousness and ideology in a process
of becoming white. The process placed greater

Figure 1.
Introduction:
Web Services describe an area of computing which define the method of communication used by
machines to interact with each other over the internet. A web service is a method for applications that
are written in contrasting languages to be able to transfer data between one another without any
problems. Two kinds of Web Services are SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) and REST

SOAP characterizes a communication protocol for XML based message exchange. SOAP utilizes
transport protocols such as HTTP and SMTP. SOAP provides simplified communication methods
through firewalls and proxies. It is both language and platform independent. SOAP uses SOAP
messages in order to transmit messages. The SOAP message is a standard XML document which

Granted this form of contraceptive along with the condom has been one of the earliest inventions that

if their is someone who still manage to get pregnant or infected while using that magical product. Can
easily then sue the inventor for false advertisement, I am sure the company would not risk their
business either. If you notice, even products who claim that a product has a full affect, it would be a

t work for them. No pills, no condoms, no spermicide, and it s far more effective than any birth control
currently on the market. In every test of the product, the only failure rate out of 250 volunteers was
due to an improper injection of the polymer. Barring that one instance of error, the polymer has been

It may not be feasible to generalize HRM practices across multiple countries because of their cultures,

HRM practices are based on the principles of the underlying culture that reflects assumptions and
beliefs of that place. So, maybe effective and meaningful HRM system in one culture is ineffective in

dealt in various ways. People establish organizations based on their values, and societies are
composed of organizations and institutions that reflect the prevalent values within their culture.

differences create differences in governing management practices of the organization.
Human Resource Management practices and policies are in reality varied across countries, but what
we read in literature is a universal approach towards HRM. There is a belief that some best practices
will be successful everywhere and with increased globalization and know how transfer these best
practices will make HRM across countries more similar. However, according to the contextual

Analysis Of The Film There Will Be Blood
The film There Will Be Blood is a drama directed by Paul Anderson in 2007. It s widely known for the
performance of Day Lewis who plays Daniel Plainview, the cinematography, and the screenplay. Set
in the early 1900s the plot follows a wealth driven man whose goal is to take over the oil industry with
his oil drilling company. Daniel Plainview and his company surveys land for oil and once found they
offer the landowners signing bonuses and royalties to build on their property. In the beginning, Daniel
is approached by a man who claims to have a significant amount of oil under his families grounds.
From here on the film, There Will Be Blood, exhibits a story of a road to riches that both creates and
destroys the future. There Will Be Blood displays all the elements of artistic form discussed in class.
First, the plot and characters. The plot is of a man whose mission is wealth while along the way he s
met with religious problems, family issues, and more. The writers also perfectly executed their cast of
characters for the plot. For example, Eli Sunday, played by Paul Dano. Eli gave a sense of hope and
kindness in film through his religious beliefs and goals of helping others. This was a nice contrast to
the violence and greed that Daniel and his company brought along. Another critical character to the
plot was H.W., Daniel s non biological son. H.W., played by Dillon Freasier, was an important
addition to the conflicts that arise for Daniel. Specifically, Daniel is met

Ethos of Feed the Children
Melissa Cannon
Ethos Project
For Business communication class we were given the assignment of choosing two websites that where
we could analyze ethos and provide how each website appealed to the audience. The two web sites
that were chosen for this group project are, UNICEF and Feed the Children . We chose these two
websites since these are charitable websites with good moral, good will and practices which provide
great ethos. There were several differences in design and structure between the two websites which
will be described in the following paragraphs.
On the web site for UNICEF, this organization is for the assistance to aide countries around the world.
They distribute food, supplies, medicine to villages in foreign ... Show more content on

The In the News link sends you to a page full of news articles where the Feed the Children
organization has been involved in the community. Every webpage is informative, whether its statistics,
their presence in the news, or the several ways on how you can be involved. But it does not really
stand out or differ from other charitable organizations. The website also doesn t provide statements
from families whom they ve helped. Donors want to see that they ve made a difference in someone s
life. A thank you video clip or photo of an assisted family or school group would probably have
satisfied this issue and made this organization more desirable to participate in. It provides enough
evidence for credibility from their existence in the news and links to their financial statements. It
seems like a legit charitable organization with a good purpose but they also provide similar ethos as
displayed in other websites, which in effect doesn t necessarily derive an appeal to join this particular
organization.
Although UNICEF and Feed the Children both aim to help underprivileged children with food and
water. UNICEF focuses to help on a global level with other issues such as illnesses like HIV/AIDS,
child protection, education and gender equality. Feed the Children concentrates mainly on providing
food and water. Between both websites, the UNICEF presents itself to be more well known because of
all their assistance programs.

In the movie Back to the Future part II, Dock goes to Marty s house and parks his flying car in Marty s
driveway. Just before they leave to head off into the future, Doc rummages through Marty s trash. In
there he finds waded up paper bags, a banana peel, and a partially filled beer can. Doc then inserts the
trash that he finds into the top of the engine component of his flying car. Immediately after doing so,
they hover off into the future. This particular scene in Back to the future basically communicates that a
vehicle such as Docs car, can use organic waste as fuel and that it can do so immediately after placing
trash into its engine component. While it would be extremely convenient and cost effective for society
to be able to walk into their garage, grab some trash and place it into their vehicles as fuel, and be able
to be on the road in real time, the idea is not in fact completely real and is partially science fiction.
There is a scientific process known as gasification a process for converting garbage into fuel and
electricity without incinerating it Bullis (2009). This must take place in order for everything to work.
This process is timely and requires spacious waste management facilities before a usable product is
produced. The first thing to do is to separate the usable organic trash from the non usable waste.
Organic usable trash is considered to be carbon based and will work in converting to fuel. Once all

Nicholas II Research Paper
Nicholas II was born on May 6th, 1868 in Pushkin, Russia. He was born Nikolai Aleksandrovich
Romanov. He was the first born of Alexander Alexandrovich and Maria Feodorovna. Maria gave
Nicholas a nurturing family environment to grow up in. While Alexander had a strong influence on
Nicholas. That is where Nicholas got her conservative, religious values and his strong belief in an
autocratic government. He received his education from private tutors which included high ranking
government officials. He excelled in history, foreign languages, but he struggled with economics and
subtleties of politics. Alexander also failed to give Nicholas training in state affairs. In 1881 Nicholas

Their worry over Alexei and search for a treatment that worked introduced them to Gregory Rasputin.
Rasputin would cause the Russia people to doubt the Tsar and one of the reasons why the royal family
met their end.
The worst thing that happened during Nicholas rule that led to the end of the monarchy was Bloody
Sunday on January 5th, 1905. Bloody Sunday was when peaceful protestors made up of workers in St.
Petersburg protested about the working conditions and for the establishment of a popular assembly.
Those protestors we fired upon and many were killed.
Nicholas was the forced to create an elected legislature. It was called DUMA. Nicholas still resisted
government reform. He felt that he was ordained by god and he was born to rule.
When World War One came around Nicholas took control of the army. Because of this he spent a lot
of time away from his family and duties in St. Petersburg. While Nicholas was gone, Alexandra fell

Tyrod Taylor Biography
It s been a few days since the Buffalo Bills defeated the Cardinals. The Bills were able to get their first
win of the season in convincing fashion at New Era Field last Sunday.
Coming into the game with a 0 2 record and the recent firing of Offensive Coordinator Greg Roman,
prepped my heart for the worst.
Early in the 1st Quarter Tyrod Taylor ran the read option play and was able to gain 49 yards putting
the scoring position, after the play the crowd and vibe was insane.
Being in attendance at the game you could feel the shift in energy.
In addition to the ground game finally working the Bills defense of old was able to get to multiple
stops on a prolific offense of the Arizona Cardinals.
When Carson Palmer wasn t throwing interceptions (4) he was picking ... Show more content on

Tyrod Taylor was held to under 175 of passing and no passing TDs. The run game which had been
stagnant for the 1st 2 games seen LeSean McCoy reached 100 yards with 2 TDs and Tyrod Taylor
reached about 75 on the ground himself.
Taylor completion percentage was poor but missing Watkins as his top receiving threat it was
expected. The Bills aside from Watkins have a pedestrian receiving corp, which doesn t help Taylor at
all. This Bills will have to invest in a WR rather through the draft or free agency this upcoming off
season to maximize Taylor full potential as a passer.
The offense started to show promise and the defense was strong vs the Cardinals which is good as
they ll travel to New England to play the Patriots this week. The Patriots are ailing with QB woes and
the Bills could possibly steal a victory from the Patriots due their injury situation at QB.
After the Patriots the Bills have winnable games vs the Rams, 49ers and Dolphins, this is a stretch in
the schedule the Bills need to take advantage to snap the playoff

Investigating The Three Hormones Involved During The...
Identify and discuss the three hormones involved in the regulation of plasma calcium concentrations.
Explain why it is misleading to state that calcitonin lowers the plasma calcium concentration.
Calcium circulates in the plasma in three different forms: ionized calcium, protein bound calcium and
in complexes formed with anions found in the blood. Although ionized calcium accounts for only half
of the circulating levels of calcium, it is essential for several important cell functions, such as
muscular contraction, cellular signalling, exocytosis and bone composition. Therefore, it is necessary
that the concentration of the ion in the blood stream is kept within a considerably strict range.
Besides the dietary calcium intake, the human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to its hydrophilic nature, the hormone produces its effects by binding to a surface receptor on
target cells, PTH1R, which is coupled to G protein, triggering the cAMP pathway. By doing that, PTH
exerts rapid effects by stimulating calcium reabsorption in the kidneys, elevating resorption of skeletal
hydroxyapatite by osteoclasts and indirectly increasing intestinal calcium uptake by promoting
calcitriol synthesis in the kidneys by upregulating the activity of cytochrome P450 hydroxylases.
Interestingly, it also stimulates osteoblasts to release RANKL molecules, which indirectly results in an
increased osteoclastic bone resorption. Moreover, PTH secretion induces a higher excretion of
phosphate ions in the urine, recruiting part of the calcium that is bound to anions in the blood.
Another hormone involved in the regulation of calcium levels is calcitriol. Differently from the other
two hormones discussed in this text, vitamin D, as it is also known, is a hydrophobic peptide hormone
and thus acts via its nuclear receptor (VDR) in a slower, steroid like mechanism. By activating its
receptor, this hormone regulates gene promotion via nuclear response elements (VDRE). This way,
vitamin D stimulates the upregulation of calcium transporters in the gastrointestinal tract, resulting in
an increase in plasma calcium levels by raising the ion uptake. Moreover, it also induces a higher renal
reabsorption of calcium and promotes bone resorption, increasing

The Effectiveness of William Shakespeare s Use of Supernatural in the Final Act of Richard III
Richard III was written by William Shakespeare and tells the story of how Richard III wants to
become king and does everything in his power to get there by assassinating members of his family to
do so, for example, the Duke of Clarence, Lord Hastings, Lady Anne, Lord Rivers, the Duke of
Buckingham, Henry VI, Prince Edward, Prince Edward V and Prince Richard. The last Act contains
many supernatural elements such as ghosts of the people Richard III has murdered or got killed and
curses, for example, Buckingham remembering Margaret s curse, prophecies and dreams, a message
from the supernatural from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By making the play more theatrical, the audience can see the individual personalities of the characters.
For example Richard seen as a belligerent, vicious, vulgar, hideous person who wants to prove that he
is a villain.
One example of the paranormal in Act V is when Richard refers to how the ghosts make him feel
responsible: O coward conscience, how dost thou afflict me but he is able to see it differently. Also
this recalls Margaret s curse: the worm of conscience still begnaw thy soul, which meant that the
centre of his conscience would incessantly affect his soul forever. This shows that Richard is feeling
guilty, he fears the ghostly vengeance of all the people he had killed and that the curses made by the
ghosts will affect him when he goes to war. Richard is able to calm himself down: What do I fear? this
proves that he has no feeling for anyone, no conscience and is going to prove that he is a villain
despite his earlier attack of remorse.
Here, Shakespeare s use of supernatural is effectual because it reminds us of the members of family
killed by Richard to become king and is more dramatic. It is more dramatic because it shows Richard
deserves to die as his punishment and people will be punished if they commit vile things. This makes
the scene look more theatrical and stimulating, this enables the audience to see what is going on inside
Richard s head and whether we

The Process Of Top Down Network Design
Introduction I chose this particular topic considering that it s not easy, and that it will enhance the
skills I already have. The topic selection should not matter that much, since the topic will merely
gauge to see what I will learn, and also challenge my ability to find solutions to various problems that
I will encounter throughout this course. This will begin with week one and ending with week seven,
provided with a business network scenario I will decide based on the assumptions and requirements to
either upgrade or design a network from scratch. My reasoning for this is simple, that if I apply what I
am suppose to learn in this course, I should be able to quickly apply the process of top down network
design, keeping in mind the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As soon as these base elements are identified, it is easier to build these elements as new system. A top
down design is also known as a stepwise design, or as Cisco documentation refers to the Plan Design
Implement Operate Optimize (PDIOO), (Oppenheimer 7) as a set of phases in the life cycle of a
network. What I hope to learn by doing this project is that given business goals and constraints, apply
the top down network design process and design a network based on those business goals and
constraints. From the book, at least from chapter 1, that the top down process brings together
information on goals, but also the importance of using systematic methods for network design. Using
these well defined, systematic methods will benefit in understand the changing technologies and
customer requirements. Once again, from Chapter 2, I hope to learn the importance of analyzing the
customer s business needs, his style, his biases, and his technical expertise. Understanding how to
work with a customer will assist to understand the budget and schedule for the network design project.
The bottom line for me to succeed, I need to understand my client s corporate organizational structure.
Understanding the corporate structure will aid in analyzing data flow and develop a network topology,
which usually parallels the corporate structure. It will aid in

  • 2. PICC Line Analysis When hearing the term PICC line it maybe rather confusing; that is unless you re in the medical profession or have a family member that has one. First, the name that groups all of them together is called; a central venous catheter. A PICC line is just one of many. It is described as a peripherally inserted central catheter; otherwise called PICC line. It is a long, thin, flexible tube that is inserted under the skin into a vein in the arm rather than a vein in the neck or chest. ( WebMD ). The purpose of the PICC is to give medicines, fluids and blood products over an extended period of time. Those with cancer, kidney disease, diabetes, Lyme disease and total parenteral nutrition or (TPN) are common reason that a PICC line could be used for. PICC lines are thought to be a safer and simpler way to distribute needed treatments. Fewer than 10% of patients have trouble or generate a venous injury. Journal of Educational Psychology, 43(7), 400 407. doi:10.1037/h0062469 In a study by Tuckman and Lorge, two questionnaires were given to a 147 graduate students at the beginning and end of a course, in order to assess their attitudes towards older workers. A shorter questionnaire was given to students at the end of the course, bearing only one difference; a statement telling subjects that their answers would have no effect on their final grade in the course. The age range of students consisted of 20 to 51 years of age. The first questionnaire pertained to old people in general (i.e. physical, financial, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Regarding gender; men were significantly more ageist than women (p=.002). • 7. Essay on Net-a-Porter Handbag Swot Anaysis SS12 Handbag Buy S.W.O.T Analysis Strengths One of Net a porters biggest strengths is that, because there is no physical limit to the amount of designers stocked, a very wide range can be offered in comparison to a department store. This in turn means that there can be a large variety of choice at different price points, catering for both the bridge and high fashion customers. The Net a Porter handbag buy includes a considerable choice of prices and quality from which to choose from. From entry price DVF bags at £265 to the seasons must have bags at £2000 upwards, customers from all ends of the luxury spectrum are catered for. The Spring / Summer edit has a great colour mix and covers all of the main SS12 handbag trends. With ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As China is the fastest growing luxury fashion customer base, it in imperative that they are catered for in the Net a Porter handbag buy. Lack of exclusivity in the handbag offering. While exclusivity is strong across Net a porter as a whole, the handbag edit does not have many exclusive styles. Almost all everything can be found on the Harvey Nichols, Selfridges, Harrods or My Wardrobe websites. In particular the Selfridges website has over 45 exclusive handbag styles online, from a variety of brands which include Mulberry, Alexander Wang and Anya Hindmarch. To combat this Net a porter should negotiate world exclusivity on a number of it bags for next season, either by having early delivery to ensure a week or two of exclusivity or by commissioning an exclusive colour option in the most popular styles. At present Net a porter has no representation for Celine handbags, which has become the most covetable handbag brand across the high fashion world and accounts for a considerable percentage of handbag sales in London department stores. As they grow from strength to strength it would be advisable for Net a porter to try and include Celine in their edit. Opportunities As Net a Porter only operates online, it has not been possible to buy some brands such as Louis Vuitton, Chanel or Celine. Luxury brands like these have been wary of the digital realm due to fears that it might dilute its exclusivity, but many are now moving more and more into digital and ... In their textbook, Smolin and colleagues state that resveratrol [...] may help to prevent cardiovascular disease (2, p.479). Indeed, observational studies have provided evidence that populations that regularly consume substantial amount of the compound resveratrol also have a lower incidence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) (3,4). One meta analysis calculated that drinking 150 mL of red wine (containing resveratrol) per day provided the optimal protection from cardiovascular disease (5). However, no experimental evidence exists to directly link resveratrol supplementation with incidence of cardiovascular disease. A growing body of experimental evidence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Twenty healthy, age matched (36 years of age, on average) subjects were randomized to either receive 200 mg of Polygonum cuspidatum extract (PCE) (containing 40 mg of resveratrol) or a placebo daily for 6 weeks. Blood samples were collected at baseline and at 1, 3 and 6 weeks. Oxidative stress was determined by analyzing blood for reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation. Inflammatory state was determined by assessing nuclear NFKB DNA binding activity (via gel shift assay) and TNFα mRNA expression (via PCR testing). Resveratrol supplementation was found to significantly reduce ROS generation, NFKB DNA binding activity, and TNFα mRNA expression compared to both baseline and the placebo group at 3 and 6 weeks. (see figure 1). The authors therefore concluded that 6 weeks of a resveratrol containing supplement could reduce both oxidative stress and inflammation. A major weakness of the study is that the authors failed to report the sex of the subjects making it challenging to compare these findings with other studies. Furthermore, this study used a PCE supplement, which contains several other antioxidants in addition to resveratrol. The possibility therefore remains that these other compounds or an interaction effect could have been responsible for some of changes that were observed. Crime scenes vary with the amount of physical evidence which is ordinarily expected to be recovered. The only thing consistent about crimes scenes is their inconsistency. A crime scene investigation can described as the application of what has become known as Locard Exchange Principle . The Locard Exchange Principle is mainly a theory that was established by Dr. Edmond Locard . Crime scene investigator document crime scenes in detail and collect physical evidence. Crime scene investigators include recorder to record the data, sketch artists to sketch the scene, photographers to take photos of the crime scene and evidence collectors. The proper steps of crime scene investigation are: Secure the crime scene, thoroughly examine the crime scene, photograph the crime scene, bag and tag evidence, construct a detailed search of the crime scene, analyze and collect data, discharge the crime scene, videotaping, sketching. And in the process of investigating a crime there are two types of crime scenes you have primary, secondary. A primary crime scene is where the crime actually occurred. A secondary crime scene is basically a subsequent crime. What is The Locard Exchange Principle ? It s almost a sport, trying as much as possible to create all these memorable events. Everything I did, I ensured it would be something that stood out to me if I had to recall it, and eventually, I reached a point where every event in my mind was just a jumble of stand out moments. This, however, never stopped me from adding on to the endless list I had created. There is a fixed pattern; if you want to make something memorable, do something out of the blue. I planned out every last detail in my mind and ran through the series of events over and over till it sounded perfect to me. Executing it was the least of my worries because once you ve got your mind set on something, it never fails to go the way you want it to. One of the more memorable events was the proposal to my wife. The affordable care act illustrates the idea of public policy in that it took various representatives of the Obama administration to draw up a plan for this act. For an idea to become a possibility of passing and being implemented, it needs countless hours of crafting and reviewing by the men and women in Congress so that it can be a success. The New York Times summarized the overall impact of the Affordable Care Act on a variety of dimensions. The number of uninsured people have reduced significantly, as a result of this act. Yet, about 7.3 million people remain enrolled in their own private insurance coverage through the online marketplaces but this act still has insured more than enough people and has become a great success story. Additionally, 85% of those who qualified for federal subsidies were aided in paying their premiums. Yet, the challenge is for middle income persons who don t qualify for subsidies and are more likely to have a hard time accepting premium costs of this act.(Tavenner) New York Times also states that it is too early to tell whether the act has affected health outcomes. • 16. Theories Of Growth And Growth Models 2.2.3 Growth Theories Under the growth theories some theories of growth and growth models will be reviewed; i) The Harrod Domar Growth Model In economic literature, this model is called capital only model. Harrod and Domar (1948) took over from Rostow, because Rostow had some unanswered questions. The model stated that saving is a certain proportion of national income and net investment is defined as the change in capital stock (K). The model further assumes that there is some direct relationship between the size of the capital stock, (K), and total GNP, (Y). This follows that any addition to the capital stock in the form of new investment will bring about corresponding increase in the flow of national output, GNP. This relationship is known in economics as the capital output ratio. If the capital output ratio is defined as k and assume further that the national savings ratio, s, is a fixed proportion of national output (e.g. 6%) and that total new investment is determined by the level of total savings, we can construct the following simple model of economic growth Balami (2006). Savings (S) is some proportion, S, of national income (Y) such that we have the simple equation S = SY ....................................................................................... (2.1) Net investment (I) is defined as the change in the capital stock, K, and can be represented by ΔK such that I = ΔK ...................................................................................... The purpose of this assignment is to review the available information on diabetes type I, directing attention to the participation of the immune system in the eradication of beta cells and the production of type 1 diabetes. The eradication of beta cells will be explored with regards to the administration of insulin within the blood stream. The second question to be reviewed is the severe influence of blood glucose administration. The correlation of diabetes with regards to mood alterations, hyperglycaemia and unsubstantiated weight loss will be explored. Furthermore, the patient´s enhanced appetite, increased urge to urinate and severe thirst detailed. Moreover, the potential outcomes on the six weeks foetus within the first trimester of Carol´s pregnancy will be detailed. 1. Pathophysiology of Type 1 Diabetes. Type 1 diabetes (insulin dependent), often develops in childhood or early adulthood and is the outcome of the reaction of the autoimmune system which is produced as a result of the destruction of beta cells from the pancreas, when the body does not produce insulin. This usually happens because the insulin secreting cells of the pancreas do not function, or they are simply not there, have been destroyed or they are in small quantities that they cannot produce any insulin to properly control blood sugar levels. Since insulin is necessary to sustain life, the missing insulin has to be replaced and it is managed with regular insulin injections, the dose which is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It provides the readers a deeper understanding of the lives of Jews and Germans in Germany during the brutal Nazi regime and how they manage to survive. This includes not only the physical survival of the fittest, but also the survival of their moral beliefs. In addition to the author s theme of inhumanity and humanity of man, he provides a background story for the characters in the book and how they are similar and different by their moral beliefs, their goals, their guilt, and their relationship with words. • 19. Why Shouldn T The Gold Standard Be Legalized The one item that people obsess about day in and day out is money. Our currency runs the world and the choices we make. However, before the standard federal reserve notes, gold was used in exchange for goods. The gold standard was created, but then it was abandoned; it is still debated today whether or not the gold standard will ever return. The gold standard was created to standardize transactions in the trade market. According to econlib.org, The United States...switched to gold de facto [a gold standard adopted by England] in 1834...when Congress passed the Gold Standard Act. This new money method, which guaranteed that the government would redeem any amount of paper money for its value in gold, allowed for people to purchase items without carrying around loads of gold coins. Countries printed more money to pay for military necessities, and this excessive printing caused hyperinflation. Countries abandoned the gold standard once again. According to thebalance.com, The Federal Reserve kept raising interest rates. It was trying to make dollars more valuable and dissuade people from further depleting the U.S. gold reserves. These higher rates worsened the Depression by making the cost of doing business more expensive. Many companies went bankrupt, creating record levels of unemployment. Uniform Child Custody Purification Case In 1997 the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws (NCCUSL) created the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (UCCJEA) to replace the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction Act (UCCJA), which was created in 1968. Like the UCCJA, the new and improved UCCJEA served the purpose of deter[ing] the removal or kidnapping of children, eliminat[ing] interstate jurisdictional competition, and prevent[ing] states from relitigating custody decisions from other states. (Ehrlich, p. 411) Since its creation, the UCCJEA has been a major go to reference for Courts in all states except Massachusetts and Vermont, who have not yet adopted said act, when considering the technicalities of jurisdiction for child custody cases. By means of applying the UCCJEA to a particular child custody case, one can look at the family of John and Suzy Johnson, and their one year old son, Joe. • 21. Water Deprivation Of The People Living Water deprivation of the people living in rural communities is a widely documented occurrence all over the world. It is estimated that over a billion people across the world do not have access to safe, clean drinking water (WHO/UNICEF, 2006), even though as a basic human need it is an essential component of the right to life. Contaminated water endangers both the physical and social health of all people and it is a disregard to human dignity. In this context, decreasing this number by half by 2015 was one of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. Water supply does not possess the merits of a pure public good, as it is usually rivalrous and often excludable, subject to the nature of supply, in that water can be both private and public good, as well as somewhere in between. Because of such characteristics, water is not a customary marketable good and markets can result in its poor allocations, if designed badly. Also, there are robust enticements to freeride on water infrastructure as it is hard to make the provision of water fully excludable. The economic characteristics of water both being rival and also provide collective benefit to all makes it an important good, but complicate how to best provide it (Furlong 2013). Such market and state failures in water delivery lead to social exclusion and inequity. While markets can be used to allocate water distribution, strong policy structure and legislation are needed to ensure that the provision is both equitable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When we look at the financial health of the company and our current ratio is 2.50 meaning for every dollar the company owes it has $2.50 of assets, and the quick ratio is 2.44. These are huge and strong ratios and the main reason I know the company can expand its operations overseas with this new product. The tax situation is Hong Kong is very attractive to all types of companies. The rates here in the United States the company pays 27.1%, while in Hong Kong the tax rate is only 16%. This tax saving alone has the ability to increase profits. The company s debt is very low as indicated by the debt ratio of .48, so fir every .48 cents the company owns $1.00 worth of assets. The company currently generates .13cents in profit for every one dollar in profit. These ratios will go up with less of a tax burden. If we take the 16% tax and apply it to gross profits we show a nice increase in net profit and all the financial ratios go up respectively. This potential addition profit will benefit current and future shareholders with elevated dividends and more retained earnings which we can use to finance other operations or expand the operation that I am proposing. I feel we can expand this potential operation after only 2 years. I feel that time frame will allow us the opportunity to fine tune the Yammer product for the Pacific Rim, while still offering the existing product for transplants in this ... • 27. Difference Between Shallow And Deep Complexity Abstract In order to understand fault structure, there is a need to first understand fault complexity. Images of faults at depth and near surface reveal complexities that characterize properties such as geometry, composition and stress states of that fault s structure. While this is true for both passive and induced imaging, a true passive source image is without the changes in fault structure due to any induced mechanism. This is something to consider when discussing fault complexity at near surface versus depth, as it is already difficult to distinguish the direction of complexity within a fault already. Current seismic research has been unable to understand if fault complexity is derived from a point at depth, or expands from surface complexity into depth. It is critical to understand the relationship between shallow and deep complexity in order to predict where that origin may have been and what caused its expansion. Passive source imaging has been able to help describe the factors that attribute to this complexity by providing a way to visually see subsurface data, but has not yet fully answered the complexity question. Introduction Fault structure is the aftermath of a slipping event in the lithosphere that produces high velocity compression waves that can be imaged as they travel through and across the surface of the lithosphere. These waves affect and change, or in other words add complexity to the structure of the lithosphere within the fault zone. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dr. Gregory House Listening Style Analysis Although I am just being introduced to the television show House M.D., I have seen several different aspects of interpersonal communication through each of the main characters. The most profound aspect of communication demonstrated in the episode Three Stories, is listening. McCornack describes listening as receiving, attending to, understanding, responding to, and recalling sounds and visual images (147). In specific, Dr. Gregory House, Dr. Allison Cameron and the students all exhibit key characteristics of the four listening styles with the incorporation of the functions of listening. First off, the main character of House M.D., Dr. Gregory House, can be described as an action oriented and time oriented listener. An action oriented listener wants brief, to the point, and accurate messages from others information they can then use to make decisions or initiate courses of action (McCornack 160). Similarly, a time oriented listener prefers brief and concise encounters (McCorncack 161). • 35. Social Exclusion In The Fever Van Social workers engage with some of the most vulnerable demographics in the population in order to facilitate change, development, and empowerment (AASW, 2010). Consequently, themes such as illness, adversity, grief, and resilience are all topics explored extensively within the domain (Rosen Zeira, 2000). These themes evident in The Fever Van are encountered, better understood, and mediated through the use of research based theories. Using such theories, the aforementioned themes will be explored through the lens of The Fever Van. When engaging in social work it is of the utmost importance that practitioners enlist the use of sensitivity and inclusive practice when addressing vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals (Chenoweth McAuliffe, 2012). Social exclusion and marginalisation are factors that serve to disempower and isolate people. An individual can suffer social exclusion as a result of several different factors such as gender, race, or religion. This identified difference fosters power dynamics which operate against the rights of those who are othered (Chenoweth McAuliffe, 2012). In the case of The Fever Van, the social exclusion at risk of occurring is due to the illness of the child and the perceived contamination of the family. The assumptions made about those involved contributes to ostracization and inequality between groups. It furthermore results in responses such as prejudice and discrimination (Lum, 2007). Disengagement with the family of a child who was sick was common and those who earned a living through food were often forced out of business. When engaging with circumstances such as this, it is integral to employ cultural competency, whereby the practitioner recognises the value and strengths of the individual in question. Reflective practice is also important as it allows social workers to analyse their own assumptions and beliefs regarding the issue (Mullaly, 2007). Perceived differences and social exclusion are rampant throughout social work history. Another example of this can be seen in the former British migrant children (Irizarry Kleanthi, 2004). These girls were ostracised and discriminated against due to their English roots. However, through the use of sensitivity, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I wouldn t call this a team project because, due to the situation, it s obvious that we were not a team. It was clear to my friend and I that this was going to be a tough process because we knew the history that these two boys had with contributing to the work needed by each teammate. Both boys were well known to the teachers as well because they were two of the high school s biggest troublemakers. One would assume the situation could have been helped, but that is not that case. We began our project and noticed that the boys preferred to talk about things that did not matter to the assignment and not to begin working on their half of the project. In an attempt to bring their attention back to the task at hand, we tried many things over one class period. First, we tried multiple times, just telling the boys that we needed to get our work done, which failed every time and resulted in arguments. Then, we decided to tell our teacher that we felt the boys were not willing to participate and were worried that their disregard for the class and our team s goals would affect our individual grades for the project. A web service is a method for applications that are written in contrasting languages to be able to transfer data between one another without any problems. Two kinds of Web Services are SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) and REST (Representational State Transfer). SOAP characterizes a communication protocol for XML based message exchange. SOAP utilizes transport protocols such as HTTP and SMTP. SOAP provides simplified communication methods through firewalls and proxies. It is both language and platform independent. SOAP uses SOAP messages in order to transmit messages. The SOAP message is a standard XML document which contains the following elements: An envelope element (required), a header ... • 40. Contraceptives Vs. Pills Granted this form of contraceptive along with the condom has been one of the earliest inventions that are still used to this day. Honestly, I don t ever think they would ever have a 100% contraceptive that would prevent a pregnancy or the ability to protect you form an STD. My reasoning for this is due to if their is someone who still manage to get pregnant or infected while using that magical product. Can easily then sue the inventor for false advertisement, I am sure the company would not risk their business either. If you notice, even products who claim that a product has a full affect, it would be a 99.9%. In case if by some reason it does not work for that individual, they have that .1% of why it did t work for them. No pills, no condoms, no spermicide, and it s far more effective than any birth control currently on the market. In every test of the product, the only failure rate out of 250 volunteers was due to an improper injection of the polymer. Barring that one instance of error, the polymer has been 100% effective. No other form of birth control can say that. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From a young age she has only wanted to support herself and her family. As she grows older she begins to aspire to be something . What that something is seems unclear even to Sara. Sara is so unsure of what she hungers for that multiple points can be argued. Some may say she hungers for money because of the way her family has always had to scrape for pennies just to survive. Some may argue she quests for freedom because she runs away from her family. These are decent analysis but they do not dive as deep as they should. When father talks about Bessie he only sees her as an object of his own survival Don t forget when she gets married, who ll carry me the burden from this house? She earns me the biggest wages (45). In the text father hardly mentions Sara because he is so focused on marrying off his other daughters. He does not see Sara because in her current age she is of little use to him. Even though Bessie earned him the biggest wages on her own she still is not seen as having optimal use without a man. When she refuses to marry Zalmon father angrily says, So this is the thanks for all I ve done for you (98). It says a great deal that father believes he has done her a favor by finding her a husband even though she seemed to have brought home a decent amount of money from working in the shop. It says in the Torah: What s a woman without a man? Less than nothing a blotted out existence. No life on earth and no hope in heaven (205). The paper has tried to capture the argument that with the accelerating pace of globalization, human resource practices are designed and implemented based on the requirements of a particular culture. It emphasizes on the need for customization by HR practitioners, multinational corporations and in any other organizational or country context. The thrust has been put forward on several propositions of appropriate HRM practices such as recruitment and selection, job analysis and career management in the global cultural context. It may not be feasible to generalize HRM practices across multiple countries because of their cultures, policies, laws and practices. Conversely, the varied cultures may affect on how HR policies across geographies are implemented. HRM practices are based on the principles of the underlying culture that reflects assumptions and beliefs of that place. So, maybe effective and meaningful HRM system in one culture is ineffective in another. In every culture the facts such as bureaucracy, authority, accountability, creativity etc., are dealt in various ways. People establish organizations based on their values, and societies are composed of organizations and institutions that reflect the prevalent values within their culture. (Hofstede, 1984) Culture has an important impact on policies to managing people. Thus, the cultural differences create differences in governing management practices of the organization. • 43. Analysis Of The Film There Will Be Blood The film There Will Be Blood is a drama directed by Paul Anderson in 2007. It s widely known for the performance of Day Lewis who plays Daniel Plainview, the cinematography, and the screenplay. Set in the early 1900s the plot follows a wealth driven man whose goal is to take over the oil industry with his oil drilling company. Daniel Plainview and his company surveys land for oil and once found they offer the landowners signing bonuses and royalties to build on their property. In the beginning, Daniel is approached by a man who claims to have a significant amount of oil under his families grounds. From here on the film, There Will Be Blood, exhibits a story of a road to riches that both creates and destroys the future. There Will Be Blood displays all the elements of artistic form discussed in class. First, the plot and characters. The plot is of a man whose mission is wealth while along the way he s met with religious problems, family issues, and more. The writers also perfectly executed their cast of characters for the plot. For example, Eli Sunday, played by Paul Dano. Eli gave a sense of hope and kindness in film through his religious beliefs and goals of helping others. This was a nice contrast to the violence and greed that Daniel and his company brought along. Another critical character to the plot was H.W., Daniel s non biological son. H.W., played by Dillon Freasier, was an important addition to the conflicts that arise for Daniel. Specifically, Daniel is met ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Just before they leave to head off into the future, Doc rummages through Marty s trash. In there he finds waded up paper bags, a banana peel, and a partially filled beer can. Doc then inserts the trash that he finds into the top of the engine component of his flying car. Immediately after doing so, they hover off into the future. This particular scene in Back to the future basically communicates that a vehicle such as Docs car, can use organic waste as fuel and that it can do so immediately after placing trash into its engine component. While it would be extremely convenient and cost effective for society to be able to walk into their garage, grab some trash and place it into their vehicles as fuel, and be able to be on the road in real time, the idea is not in fact completely real and is partially science fiction. There is a scientific process known as gasification a process for converting garbage into fuel and electricity without incinerating it Bullis (2009). This must take place in order for everything to work. This process is timely and requires spacious waste management facilities before a usable product is produced. The first thing to do is to separate the usable organic trash from the non usable waste. Organic usable trash is considered to be carbon based and will work in converting to fuel. • 48. Investigating The Three Hormones Involved During The... Identify and discuss the three hormones involved in the regulation of plasma calcium concentrations. Explain why it is misleading to state that calcitonin lowers the plasma calcium concentration. Calcium circulates in the plasma in three different forms: ionized calcium, protein bound calcium and in complexes formed with anions found in the blood. Although ionized calcium accounts for only half of the circulating levels of calcium, it is essential for several important cell functions, such as muscular contraction, cellular signalling, exocytosis and bone composition. Therefore, it is necessary that the concentration of the ion in the blood stream is kept within a considerably strict range. Besides the dietary calcium intake, the human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to its hydrophilic nature, the hormone produces its effects by binding to a surface receptor on target cells, PTH1R, which is coupled to G protein, triggering the cAMP pathway. By doing that, PTH exerts rapid effects by stimulating calcium reabsorption in the kidneys, elevating resorption of skeletal hydroxyapatite by osteoclasts and indirectly increasing intestinal calcium uptake by promoting calcitriol synthesis in the kidneys by upregulating the activity of cytochrome P450 hydroxylases. Interestingly, it also stimulates osteoblasts to release RANKL molecules, which indirectly results in an increased osteoclastic bone resorption. Moreover, PTH secretion induces a higher excretion of phosphate ions in the urine, recruiting part of the calcium that is bound to anions in the blood. Another hormone involved in the regulation of calcium levels is calcitriol. Differently from the other two hormones discussed in this text, vitamin D, as it is also known, is a hydrophobic peptide hormone and thus acts via its nuclear receptor (VDR) in a slower, steroid like mechanism. By activating its receptor, this hormone regulates gene promotion via nuclear response elements (VDRE). This way, vitamin D stimulates the upregulation of calcium transporters in the gastrointestinal tract, resulting in an increase in plasma calcium levels by raising the ion uptake. Moreover, it also induces a higher renal reabsorption of calcium and promotes bone resorption, increasing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By making the play more theatrical, the audience can see the individual personalities of the characters. For example Richard seen as a belligerent, vicious, vulgar, hideous person who wants to prove that he is a villain. One example of the paranormal in Act V is when Richard refers to how the ghosts make him feel responsible: O coward conscience, how dost thou afflict me but he is able to see it differently. Also this recalls Margaret s curse: the worm of conscience still begnaw thy soul, which meant that the centre of his conscience would incessantly affect his soul forever. This shows that Richard is feeling guilty, he fears the ghostly vengeance of all the people he had killed and that the curses made by the ghosts will affect him when he goes to war. Richard is able to calm himself down: What do I fear? this proves that he has no feeling for anyone, no conscience and is going to prove that he is a villain despite his earlier attack of remorse. Here, Shakespeare s use of supernatural is effectual because it reminds us of the members of family killed by Richard to become king and is more dramatic. It is more dramatic because it shows Richard deserves to die as his punishment and people will be punished if they commit vile things. This makes the scene look more theatrical and stimulating, this enables the audience to see what is going on inside Richard s head and whether we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
