2.Danger
Usage of line powered device could be dangerous. As leakage of AC current (i.e. 60 hertz) in the
body if it is of sufficient amplitude and duration it can cause motor nerves depolarization thus
induce involuntary tetanic like muscle contraction. As in most of the humans muscle contraction
frequencies are 40 and 60 hertz.
3.Battery powered devices
Leaking of current from a battery powered device is not dangerous. They are safe because there is
continuous 0 hertz DC current regardless of its amplitude and duration. This low voltage current
cannot be able to cause nerve depolarization and thus couldn t induce titanic muscle contraction.
D.Physiological damage
When a 60 hertz AC current of 5 mA passes through a body it may cause unwanted physiological
changes such as tissue burn and tetanic muscle contraction which may cause severe body injuries
including death.
1.Tetanic muscle contraction
The victom may showed minor to vigrous tetanic muscle contractions which may cause respiratory
arrest or cardiac arrest and it leads to death by electric shock.
2.Tissue burn
When 60 hertz AC current passed through a body it cause burn injuries primarily at skin surface
and secondarily in deeper tissues because skin tissues offer more resistance to current than the
deeper tissues. Deeper tissue burn injuries are stronger if the skin is in

100 Life Expectancy Calculator
I was surprised at how much education level, marital status, weight, blood pressure, and stress
can affect a life expectance. According to the Living to 100 Life Expectancy Calculator, I am
predicted to live to 93 years old. A 2015 National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and
Medicine report said men born in 1930 could expect to reach about age 82 if their income put them
in the top 20 percent of earners and they survived to age 50. And high earners born in 1960 are
projected to live to 89 a sizable seven year gain in three decades (Henricks, 2018, para 9). Marital
status can also play a part in determining longevity. Getting married is a good way to live longer at
least that s what research says (Bushak, 2015, para 12). Having... Show more content on

In general they suggest a lifestyle of moderation. However, a factor that they do mention that
some cannot control is their genetics. Several people that are centenarians also had members of
their families that lived long lives. Even though it is not certain a person will live to be a
centenarian, maintaining a healthy body weight, exercising regularly, not smoking, and eating a
healthy diet can all be contributing factors. Experts also agree that where a person lives, good
diet, active lifestyle, and supportive family structure play a role in a person s longevity. I m sure
these are all important factors, but there are no guarantees because life is unpredictable. Buskak,

Herbal Essences Advertisement Analysis
Semiotics is a critical approach that studies the symbols as elements of communicative behaviour
(Dictionary.com). One would analyze the image influence, language influence, and the intention of
the advertisement. Image influence includes colours, pictures, and the action (if necessary).
Language influence contains the text size, type of font, and phrases. The intention of the ad
includes the purpose and the intended audience (age, gender, culture (etc.)). I will be focusing on
the utilization of semiotics through a Herbal Essences advertisement. The ad motivates its
customers by its image, language, and purpose.
Firstly, the image presented by Herbal Essences catches the viewers attention. Initially, if one were
to look at the advertisement, the first picture he or she would notice is the woman Nicole
Scherzinger. It is the largest image on the poster making her the central attraction. She is a
celebrity which could influence her fans to purchase the product. Nicole looks happy with her
smooth, shiny hair. This can lead others to think that the product gives customer satisfaction. Her
face has a glow, which makes her look radiant. Also, one would notice that she is touching her
shiny, wavy, black hair, which makes her look attractive and gives it a sexual appeal. In the online
article How can Advertising Affect Consumers? the author states,
...By associating your product with the most basic human desires of your audience, you may
motivate them to act. This

A Comparison Of The Pantheon And The Parthenon
Introduction
With just a quick glance at pictures taken from a distance of the front of the Pantheon and the
Parthenon, one might conclude that they are the same building or the same design. Both have eight
Greek inspired columns topped with metopes and a triangular pediment at the entry portico (front).
However, any other view and a closer look would reveal substantial differences. Even the condition
of the present buildings would indicate that the buildings are from very different times and, of
course, very different locations.
The Parthenon
The Parthenon is a Greek temple constructed in 447 BC. It was designed by the architect/artist
Phidias and commissioned by Perikles after the Peliponnesian War to worship the Greek goddess,
Athena. Reed (2005) The building is a classical Greek structure in the Doric order known as a
peripteral
THE PANTHEON AND THE PARTHENON 2 octastyle Doric temple with Ionic columns.
Wikipedia (2017a) The octastyle designation refers to the eight columns at each end of the
structure. The building ends also have a second row of six columns at the interior of the outer
columns. The interior is divided into two rooms by masonry walls with interior columns in each
room. The building was and is famous for its ornate sculpture on the surface of the temple along the
frieze and pediments as well as sculptures on the interior of the building, namely the
chryselephantine statue of Athena sculpted by Phidias. The building is also said to have been built in

Incident Background On September 24, 2010, a laptop was stolen from an unlocked Urology
office at the Henry Ford Health Systems hospital. The laptop did contain password protection
software; however, it may not have been enough to permit access if the thief had advanced
knowledge in computers. Additionally, the information stored on the laptop did not include social
security or health insurance information, but instead held patient names, medical record numbers,
dates of birth, telephone numbers, e mail addresses, and treatment and doctor visits (Moscaritolo,
2010, p. 1). It is unknown how many records were contained on the laptop, but all records were
related to prostate services that were provided during an eleven year span.
Reaction to Incident Once it was revealed that the laptop was missing, Meredith Phillips, the
chief privacy officer for the hospital, notified all involved patients by letter and offered each of
them a free one year credit monitoring service (Henry Ford Health System, 2010). The hospital
also established a telephone help line that addressed patient concerns (toll free), as well as initiated
an internal investigation to determine if appropriate security measures were followed. Furthermore,
all employees were re trained in security procedures and

Essay on Jack Kevorkian
Jack Kevorkian
Jack Kevorkian was born in 1928 in Pontiac, Michigan, to Armenian immigrants. He grew up in
Pontiac and went on to college and medical school at the University of Michigan, where he
received his medical degree in 1952. Dr Kevorkian chose pathology as his specialty, which
involves trying to determine causes of disease and death. He served in Korea as an Army medical
officer, then came back to Michigan and began residency.
It was apparent that Dr. Kevorkian had an obsession with death even in his residency, where he
often requested to work the night shift because more patients died at night. It was during his
residency where he first acquired the nickname Dr. Death. He experimented with photographing the

He wrote many articles on euthanasia, and he again proposed research on prisoners being
executed. Most publishers rejected his works, but he was published in a few obscure journals
(Betzold, 1993).
In 1986 Kevorkian moved back to Michigan but was unable to find a job because of his
controversial writings. He made a trip to Amsterdam, where he observed widely tolerated (but
illegal at the time) assisted suicide. Inspired, he began placing ads in local newspapers classified
sections for death counseling, but no terminally ill patients responded.
In 1989 Kevorkian heard the story of David Rivlin, a 38 year old Michigan man who had
become a quadriplegic at 19, and had been reduced to needing a respirator after a failed spinal
surgery. Rivlin wanted to be taken off life support, and when Kevorkian heard of his story, he
worked on helping him commit suicide (Betzold, 1993). Kevorkian designed and built his
Thanatron (Greek for death machine ), which he built for $30 using parts that he found at garage
sales (Garsten, 1999). However, Rivlin refused Kevorkian s help and used another doctor to
remove life support.
Kevorkian then tried to put an ad in a county medical society s bulletin, asking for terminally ill
patients who wanted help in committing suicide. The medical society rejected him, but a local TV
station reported on his assisted death

The Strengths Of The Prince In Machiavelli s The Prince
Machiavelli s The Prince can be utilized as a guidebook to answer: How best can a ruler
maintain control of his state? Therefore, if any employer reads it as a how to book rather than
just a work of political theory, they can be seen as the ruler while the state would be the rest of
the employees. If this is followed like an agenda, the sole purpose of government is not the good
of the people but the stability of the state and the perpetuation of the established ruler s control. It
would define the city as an entity existing to serve its ruler rather than its populace. Obtaining the
support of the people is not a goal in itself, but rather a means for ensuring that the city remains
fortified.

inspires his subjects during rough times. However, in order to do so, he must convince the people
that the hardships are only temporary. More importantly, he should create feelings of patriotism and

Analysis Of Culpepper And Koester s Writing I ve Learned...
Reflection Paper
In Culpepper and Koester s writing I ve learned a great deal about the Gospel of John from all
perspectives. I ve learned everything from what makes John unique, the Gospel of John as
literature, and some theological insight on the Gospel of John. In this particular paper though I
want to focus on three key questions asked and deliver well thought out ideas and answers. Also
in this paper the reader will learn what the similarities and differences John has from the Synoptic
Gospels, what difference would it make to Christian belief today if the Gospel of John was never
written, and what my favorite gospel is and why?
First the question is asked, How is John similar to and different from the synoptic gospels? Is there
evidence that John is aware of the existence of the synoptic gospels ? First we have to understand
that although John s Gospel has much in common with the other New Testament gospels, it is
largely independent from the others as well (Koester 4). Some similarities that John and the
synoptic Gospels have is they all link Jesus to the town of Nazareth. They all say that Jesus had a
group of disciples, he taught others, he healed those in need of healing, and they all recorded the
scene of feeding the five thousand. Now John is different from the other gospels in a few different
ways. The first way John is different from the others is the journeys talked about throughout the
gospels, for instance only Matthew and Luke contains accounts of Jesus

Automobiles are More Than Just Transportation Essay

Today, automobiles have gained a reputation of refined high tech product rather than just a means
of transport. It has become a moving living quarters, defining the social status of what people
aspire to have when it comes to the type of life those people want. In today s automobile business
operations, companies should pay more attention to developing the customer s experience. The
experience is an important part of customer value; great customer service is the advantage needed
to measure the worth of goods or services. Therefore, only those great idea and marketing strategies

Price
While Koreans have always maintained a very aggressive pricing strategy, Hyundai KIA has put
itself at a prime place in the global market by offering competitive prices compared to the
competition. It is obvious from the global automotive sales data that South Korea s Hyundai KIA
Automotive Group ranked from tenth in nineteen ninety nine to a global rise to fourth in the
world in the years to come that they have thought a lot about pricing competitiveness (Freeman
2008). With the company jumping six seats in the past years and leaving behind the Honda,
Toyota, Fiat, and Chrysler; KIA s President Mr.Lee says KIA will keep vehicle prices at current
levels in the U.S. as part of its brand strategy.
Place
Place is based on the type of the product, market and customer studies, where they take in
distribution channels, storage facilities, transport facilities and inventory controlling. Looking at
the reality of the falling economy in Korea, the KIA Group still wanted to expand the scale and
scope of business. Hence, KIA is international with their facilities in one hundred and seventy two
countries. This includes KIA Group launching 14 companies in Indonesia to expand the production
of small cars (www.kia.com). Making the company international helps their company expand by
being able to reach different demographics and reach more customers. This helps their company

Hippo Pathway Lab Report
Regulation of the Hippo YAP Pathway by G Protein Coupled Receptor Signaling Review Lee
Stunkard Organ size regulation has continued to remain elusive. Recently, the Hippo pathway has
been proposed to be involved in organ size regulation. The Hippo pathway regulates the size of
organs through controlling cell number. A major downstream effector of the Hippo pathway is the
transcription coactivator Yes associated protein (YAP). YAP is responsible for upregulating genes
that promote cell proliferation and downregulating genes that promote cell apoptosis. Elongated
upregulation of YAP leads to hyperplasia and tumor formation. YAP is inhibited by Lats 1/2
through phosphorylation of serine 127. When serine 127 becomes phosphorylated YAP binds to...

Cell growth, migration, proliferation and mRNA levels of YAP regulated genes were tested
using LPA treated cells that had YAP/TAZ knockdown. Cell growth, migration, proliferation and
mRNA levels of YAP regulated genes were all significantly repressed compared to the controls
suggesting that LPA acts through YAP/TAZ. Similar to YAP, TAZ was shown to localize in the
nuclear fractions of cells in immunofluorescence experiments. MST 1/2 and Lats 1/2 levels were
tested in response to LPA treatment. LPA was shown to inhibit Lats 1/2 but not MST 1/2 in
immunoblot experiments. Then to test how LPA and S1P were modulating YAP/TAZ
immunoblotting experiments were utilized. LPA and S1P were found to modulate YAP/TAZ
through G protein coupled receptor signaling and Rho GTPases. More specifically, G12/13
receptors appeared to be most involved while Gq/11 receptors were only slightly involved in
dephosphorylating YAP/TAZ. On the other hand, Gs receptors had the opposite effect,

Incongruity In Kate Chopin s The Story Of An Hour
A statement from Patrick Rothfuss states We understand how dangerous a mask can be. We all
become what we pretend to be. . Two writers from the 1800s, Paul Laurence Dunbar, and Kate
Chopin created a lot of compositions that really indicated how much individuals, particularly
women, and African Americans needed to shroud themselves, or wear a mask with a specific end
goal to be acknowledged by the overall population among their time. In numerous works of writing,
realist writers shape subjects for a bigger political and social discourse. Kate Chopin, writer of The

In the ballad, We Wear The Mask , by the American writer Paul L. Dunbar, he portrays how life in
the 1800s for individuals, or especially African Americans were genuinely intense circumstances in
America. A lot of changes were happening, and numerous people had a troublesome time grappling
with them. African Americans, specifically, got themselves captured in a culture that showed up
fairly better to anything it had been previously amongst the Civil War. Yet, the truth was that
things were as yet out of line. We Wear The Mask is a poem that portrays all of the pretending
and the truth that hides behind it. We get a feeling that the fact of the matter is a fairly painful one,
so individuals wear masks to shroud the repulsive truth. After the Civil War, numerous African
Americans were left still abused by alternate races regardless of the thirteenth amendment being
passed. With this, they re caught alone with just their thoughts and minds. Dunbar s title We Wear
The Mask is a metaphor in itself since individuals wear masks to conceal their actual personality,
so these individuals were concealing their actual considerations and sentiments behind a
metaphorical mask . In one of the lines of the poem, Dunbar expresses We smile but oh, great
Christ our cries . (Dunbar 654) I think the principle reason Dunbar composed this line the way he

The Serpent In Dante s Inferno
The serpent that is illustrated in Genesis is a creature who represented Satan who then enticed Eve
into eating out of the garden of Eden with the crafty words, You will not certainly die, the serpent
said to the woman (Genesis, 3:4). The serpent in these works symbolizes evil and how the
temptation of it the sinis difficult to escape after being committed. After discussing the serpent
representing the difficulty of escaping it whether it is temptation or the impossible escape of the
devil like serpent after committing the sin. The sin then becomes repetitive. Maybe due to the
fact that it is pleasurable or easy. Dante uses the repetition of the sinner s torment symbolized the
repetition of sin. In line 107, Dante relates the punishment cycle of the sinners to the phoenix
with, The Phoenix dies to be reborn again (24.107). Dante uses a phoenix s life to relate to these
sinners, which also symbolizes sin. Wes Anderson believes the phoenix had a different
symbolism. Deal with life, Anderson said The Phoenix Symbolize new life in myth. In Hell, they
re new death (1). Due to the phoenix s never ending existence and these sinners also rise again
after burning to ashes who are attacked by the serpents. It can symbolize sin in life that... Show

destruction (1 Timothy, 6:9). As we saw with Vanni Fucci, he committed against a sacristy. He may
have failed to resist the temptation of becoming rich with possibly selling the stolen items, but the
sin he had committed cause him the torment that had received from the serpents. With sin being

What Is The Labyrinth In Looking For Alaska
I have the same view of Looking for Alaska having finished it than when I wrote the first journal.
It s crazy good and John Green is a crazy good author. His writing style and technique show how
experienced he is.
Green portrays a lot of different people in his novels. He does seem to use many stereotypical
characters, but I think he means to do it that way. I definitely like characters in novels that do fit
into society. However, when you have people that you can fit into a certain category, it surprises
you more when they do something you wouldn t expect. You have the Weekday Warriors who are
rich which means most of them are mean, too. A big surprise is that the Colonel s girlfriend is a
Weekday Warrior. Once you get to know her, though,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the story gives you a reason and way out of the labyrinth, you re still left to come up with
what the labyrinth means to you. Everybody in the book has their own meaning of what the
labyrinth is to them. The Colonel thinks it s a path that sucks, but the road you have to take.
After all this time, it seems to me like straight and fast is the only way out but I choose the
labyrinth. The labyrinth blows, but I choose it (Green 216). This quote shows that the Colonel
knows life gives some horrible twists in the original plan, however he seems to take it in stride.
Pudge believes the only way to get through is with forgiveness. He s constantly feeling guilty for
things he did or didn t do. Finally, he realizes that he can t let his past haunt him; he has to
forgive himself for the past and forgive others. Alaska believes it is suffering that you need to
escape. She believes that all life is, is suffering and you can t really escape. She has a pretty
pessimistic view on life in general and thinks the only way out his straight and fast. Her death
could be a true example of that, which brings us to another issue that Green leaves us with at the
end of the book. How did she really die? The readers are never given and answer we just have to
assume for ourselves that maybe the accident was actually a suicide. Maybe it was her straight and
fast way out by crashing her car into

RFSP requires oil refiners to produce a certain quantity of renewable fuel or purchase credit

Eventually they obtained an address where some of the biofuel production was occurring but when
they arrived at the site all they found was a couple of empty containers.
In May 2011 Judge Beth P issued several warrants and seizures warrants for Hailey s home, office,
bank account and other valuable items in possession because of RIN sales. Internal Revenue

Hailey and informed him that a suspicious person had been sighted on his property and if the

Hailey was eventually sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for selling false RIN and pocketing

required to pay $42.2 million in restitution. Hailey was charged with wire fraud, engaging in an

viewed in later centuries, cannot adequately encompass all that she did or how she maintained her
power. In part, her endurance stems from the way in which she learned early in life to fight with
forces that were not physical, those of her mind, her intellect, and her own spirit. She used her
intellect to create an empire. Her education and early training of mind together with her basic
understanding of humanity, both of her own and that of her subjects, kept her at the helm for more
than forty years. Analysis of her writings, which include speeches, poems, letters, and documents to
Parliament, will help readers understand that Elizabeth... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Queen Elizabeth I was actually born Elizabeth Tudor, the daughter of Henry VIII and his second
wife (after England s split from the Catholic Church), Anne Boleyn. She was crowned Queen of
England on January14, 1559 and reined for the next 44 years. She is remembered by such names
as the Virgin Queen and Good Queen Bess.
Her childhood was a rather tumultuous one, with her father paying very little or no attention to
her. Her governess had to write to him saying that Elizabeth needed some clothes because all of
the ones that she had were too small. Her mother was executed when she was 2 years old after
being accused of adultery, incest etc. After her father s death, the throne went to her Catholic half
sister Mary. Mary s policies of burning Protestants at the stake and an unsuccessful war with France,
wherein she lost Callais, the last of England s strongholds on the continent, made her less than
popular.
When Elizabeth was sixteen rumors were spread she had plotted with Thomas Seymour to put him
in line for the throne. In addition, the rumor that she was having a love affair with him and was
pregnant with his child surfaced. These rumors called into question the value of honor and honesty
of the young Lady Elizabeth.
In this situation, Elizabeth shows one of her first examples of building her leadership image
through her writings. Elizabeth wrote a letter

The Epic, Gilphash, And The Epic Of Gilgamesh
In the realm of a mythic story, a myth can possess the ability to reshape a world, because its stories
do not have limitations (Paden 79). Within William Padens argument about myths, he discusses the
benefits of believing in a mythic story, because mythic stories can build the world (Paden 84). With
the help of the epic of Gilgamesh, this myth will help to create a connection between the statement
by William Paden, and the character of Gilgamesh. By creating a connection between these two
texts, the theory of love, unavoidable fate of death, and the imbalance of power are the reoccurring
themes and theories that are the building blocks to the statement by William Paden.
By connecting the epic of Gilgamesh to how it can build a world, there is a certain theme and
theory that can be connected. In the epic of Gilgamesh, the love that Gilgamesh had for Enkidu is
the motivating factor that helps Gilgamesh become a noble king. By 2100 BCE, Gilgamesh was
the king of Uruk, but had terrorized his people and couldn t tame his energy (Dalley 51). When
the people of Uruk had asked the gods to get Gilgamesh a rival, Enkidu was born (Dalley 53).
After Gilgamesh and Enkidu had countless stalemated battles and became best friends, the love that
Gilgamesh had for Enkidu during and after his death had caused Gilgamesh to become a civilized
and moral human being (Dalley 61). Within the constructs of building a better world, Enkidu can be
paralleled to a female parent that helps their

The reading states that the Zebra mussels invation to North American cannot be stopped and that
poses a serious threat to freshwater fish populations in all of North America and provides three
reasons of support. However, the professor states that there are ways to control the Zebra mussel
spreading and doesn t have a serious threat in the environment and refutes each of the authors
reasons. First, the reading states that ships helped spread the Zebra mussel out along new canals
built to connect Europe s waterways. The professor opposes this point by saying that ships could

people can stop the ship from spreading the Zebra mussel s by making the

The Grade Of Grade Inflation
The grade a student receives depicts the knowledge one has on a particular subject. In the United
States, grades are based on; numerous tests, homework s, projects, and participation. This academic
curriculum students grades are based on gives them, a lot of leg room to improve their grades. On
the other hand, students turn in minimal work, hoping to be given an A. Therefore, the average grade
in the United States, has gone up due to the lack of effort students are putting into their work, which
is called a grade inflation. Nonetheless, many assumptions have been created on whether or not, it
is the students fault or the educators fault for grade inflations. The accusation of whether or not

Students who attended colleges and universities around the mid 1900 s, used to study and learn
more than the students in the 21st century. Due to the fact that during that time period, educators
taught their students to learn the subject for the long run rather than to only study for the upcoming
exam. Currently, the institutions curriculum has been dumbed, the reason to that is some educators
are trying to benefit the institution and some students are not putting effort into the course.
According to Minnesota State University The period from 1955 to 1965 has been described as a
period of grade deflation. The average grade and GPA remained static even though the student
body possessed higher and higher SAT and ACT scores. During this period, grading did not rise
to reward the better qualified students . (N.P.) Grades received within 1955 to 1965 decreased
because educators had a higher academic expectation of the students work. This is because of the
knowledge and tools the students were exposed to, which was the educators help because educators
were trying to help the students succeed in the long run. The average of the SAT and ACT scores

Gerald Sandusky Case
After reviewing serval sources related to this case, it is clear that this was an ongoing issue for
many years and the scope may extend into the 1970 s if new allegations are corroborated.
The case officially begins on November 4, 2011 when the Attorney General of the Commonwealth
of Pennsylvania filed charges against Gerald Sandusky (Sandusky) that included multiple counts of
aggravated indecent assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, corruption of minors, unlawful
contact with minors, and endangering the welfare of minors. Several of the charges cover offenses
that occurred between 1998 and 2002 when Sandusky was either the Defensive Coordinator for the

Aside from the allegations of child sexual abuse, the revelation of a cover up and who actually

ER Diagrams and Databases
Since the beginning of the industrial revolution, people have been trying to make their life easier
using machines. This has led to huge technological breakthroughs that brought about computers,
cars, airplanes etc. Nowadays computers are widely used to perform various tasks on users behalf.
Another people s passion since ancient times is to store and preserve information for the
generations to come (libraries, archives). During the 1960 s people s desire to store and retrieve
information was combined with the opportunities that computers offered to create the first
computerized database. This turned out to be a milestone in the way people manage information. It
offered many advantages: Data can be organised easy; it takes up very little physical space; users
can search the data for specific information; The Database can be shared between different users; it
can be accessed remotely etc. Due to these advantages, the new modern way of collecting data
gradually replaced paper Databases. It became a much more cost effective way for organisations
and companies to store their data. Currently, computer databases are being used everywhere:
Facebook, online stores such as Amazon and eBay, airports, hospitals, government institutions etc.
Even the libraries that are considered to be old fashioned have stored their information
electronically.
However, databases have to meet some challenges. Nowadays, the purpose of databases is to serve
the demands of large scale companies. These

Framing Research Paper
Did you know without framing every house and buildings wouldn t be where they re standing

strong base for a house if not it will collapse. Framing has been used since the early 1830s, they
still use man power but some technologies evolved. Framing is one of the biggest fields in
construction, so it has work all year round. It also has a good employment rate. This job can be
good for high schoolers when they leave schoolbecause you learn on the job, teens can make good

or more every day. Also being able to work in harsh weather conditions will be a must if workers

skill to have because they have to measure wood and cut an a angle. A great class to learn how to
measure and cut wood is wood shop. This class will show the basics on cutting wood. But overall
going to college isn t required in framing. But unless a skilled worker leaves his company and go

Jeeps-A way of Life Since 1941
The very first Jeep was created in 1941. This Jeep was known as the Military Bantam AKA the
MB Jeep. The United States Department of War needed a new light, cross country, reconnaissance
vehicle. Therefore an American automobile company called Willy s Overland and Motors created
the Army s new vehicle. This vehicle was a 2.2L engine, 4 wheel drive, 2 door, with a 3 speed
manual transmission Jeep. The Willy s Jeep another name for the MB was also a Вј ton vehicle that
was the top of the line military technology. Jeeps were essential to transportation of military
soldiers and equipment to designated spots. With this amazing help of the Jeep, the army was
getting to its peak in World War II. Jeeps grabbed my attention and interest because not only do I
own one, but I believe the iconic history of Jeeps is amazing. It amazes me that this small vehicle
can have such a huge impact on history as becoming the World War II Vehicle . Jeeps have
inspired other similar light utility vehicles and are the oldest off road vehicleever made. Jeeps also
have a huge impact on today s modern society. Jeeps bring society together. Jeep people have a
slang term for themselves called Jeepers . Within today s society there are Jeep Clubs. The
aftermath of the Military Bantam Jeep, the Civilian Jeep, was another start to the legacy of Jeeps.
In 1944 the CJ was brought to life with in the Jeep world. Along with all of its other brothers in

The Father Of Pan, The Greek God Of Nature
Pan is the Greek god of Nature. He was born father Hermes and his mother, who is one of
Dryops daughters. When Pan was born and his mother and nurse saw that he had horns ,ears, tail,
and legs of a goat they both ran away to escape Pan s monstrous appearance. Then Hermes saw his
child. He was over joyed and to Pan to Olympus and proudly introduced his son to the immortals.
After that Pan grow up and went to the forest in Arcadia there he had worshiper.
Pan s main domain was nature, but he mostly stay in Arcadia. Also most of his follower lived
there. Arcadia was a group of mountain dwelling people separated from other Greeks. Also it is
said that if the hunter were disappointed with the chase they would scourge the statue of Pan.
Being a rustic god Pan was never worshiped in temples or any built building. He was worshiped
in Natural sitting like cave or grottos; these are often called the caves of Pan. It is said when Pan
is lonely he lets out a whale that send fear though any mortal that hears it, this is part of the reason
why panic is dedicated to pan. There is another thing with pan he is associated with fertility and
spring, but he is also associated with a mother goddess either Rhea or Cybele.
Unlike some other gods Pan was ugly. Also he lived in the mortal world. He hunted for his food in
the mountain and he pursued quite a wild life himself, but he also spent his time playing with the
woodland nymphs he also talked to them too. He also had another side to him. This

Federal And Local Government Performance
Looking closely to the federal and local governments, some federal departments and city
departments provide quality services to the extent that people trust them more than the critics can
understand. Surprisingly, some Americans trust certain federal departments than the federal
government while at local governmentlevel, some people admire certain city programs than they
like the city administration. According to Goodsell (2015), Ann Arbor based company provided

in some of its departments even though it declined afterward. At local government level. When

But the recent study of 2004 2005 found the opposite. They discovered that bus systems operated by
municipal and county work more efficiently because managers can handle the incompatible
pressures from different stakeholders (Goodsell, 2015). To some extent, government can save
money through contracting out some of it functions to the private companies. Moreover, there is
also an assumption that bureaucracy is growing larger day by day which weakens personal liberty.
The size of growth fluctuates, but the number is increasing at both state and local governments and
decreasing at the federal government.
Strengths of bureaucracy
More trained personnel than contract workers. It has more money to subsidize certain services
when private companies that operated bus systems went out of business. Moreover, most changes
are initiated by the bureaucrats not elected officials (Goodsell, 2015). Most celebrated innovations
were facilitated by bureaucrats. These are signs of their strengths.
Weakness of bureaucracy
Some government programs are poorly designed programs and it takes government some time to
rectify the system like the Office of Disability Adjudication and Review (ODAR) due to processing
time which spiked at some stage.
True or false stories about critics
It is untrue that all bureaucrats are arrogant to their clients and want to control them. This is
dispelled by the interviews that Goodsell

The Last Post And Dolce Et Decorum Est
Wilfred Owen s Dolce et Decorum Est and Carol Ann Duffy s The Last Post are both refusals of
war propaganda and intended to convey an anti war message to populations at war. Both texts
use the point of view of a poet Wilfred Owen s being from a veteran. However, both speaks clearly
convey a message desiring change, and a greater understanding of the horrors of warwithin the
general population. Owen s first stanzais a myriad of techniques, beginning with similes and
metaphors describing the worn out soldiers firstly as beggars then as hags , dehumanizing them
just as the war does. Similarly, Duffy s poem in which she directly quotes from Dulce et Decorum

direct address, alliteration, imagery, asking the reader to personally stop telling the lie that are is

theme in her poem. The final two lines are the same as two earlier lines making the reader dwell
on why she has made this recurrence. In Duffy s poem with focuses heavily on the rewinding of

Doodle In The Scarlet Ibis
Most people would come to believe the fact that an ibis cannot relate to a human being, but that
can be proven wrong. Throughout the story, Doodle and the ibis were persistent, yet active, due
to the fact that they never gave up. In the story, The Scarlet Ibis, by James Hurth, Doodle is a boy
who has physical weaknesses, so it is difficult for him to do things that a normal child would be
able to do. Most ibisare able to fly, however, the scarlet ibisis not capable because it has its own
weaknesses. As Doodle grows up, he gains these negative energies from his surroundings that
makes him feel as if he won t be able to survive as long. Doodle was persistent, since he was
motivated and determined. In the story, it says, Doodle, don t you want to learn to walk? He d
nod his head, and I d say, well if you don t keep trying, you ll never learn (Hurst, 598). Being
persistent and active played a big role in both of their lives. It isn t implied that Doodle never
gave up, but from what the brother said to keep trying instead of giving up, one may see that

The Case Lawsuit, Debra Nathan Nenn Essay
This claim arises out of a lawsuit filed by Plaintiff, Debra Nathan Nenn, on her own behalf, and on
behalf of her minor son, Grey Hoffman. The Amended Complaint alleges in general that Ms.
Nathan Nenn executed a written lease to rent a house from the insureds starting on June 1, 2013.
The plaintiffs further allege that starting on the day the plaintiffs took possession of the house, the
drain in the kitchen sink was not working and the insureds failed to correct this condition. The
complaintcontinues to allege additional deficiencies in the rental property such as mold growth in
one of the bedrooms and in various locations of the house due to excess moisture and failure to
patch exterior openings, insufficient heating, holes in the exterior walls, an unfinished deck,
insufficient weather sealants, vermin in the crawlspace, frozen pipes and lack of running water. The
plaintiffs further allege that the insureds have failed to address and resolve the above issues. The
most serious claim is that the mold present throughout the house caused the plaintiffand her minor
son to become ill.
The insureds, who live in a separate house on the same property, refute all of the plaintiffs
allegations with the exception of their concession that a portion of the siding is missing from one
of the exterior walls. They explained that during the renovation of the house, which was completed

Benefit Of Extracurricular Activities
Extracurricular Activities: The True Benefits Despite the belief in extracurricular activities harming
students, they can actually be beneficial. Extracurricular activities benefit students by helping them
learn how to manage their time more efficiently and improve academics. There are social benefits,
benefits outside of school, and benefits after school. They help develop students and make them
became what they will be in the future. Extracurricular activities most definitely benefit the students
and even the school. Extracurricular activities can help students by helping them learn how to
manage their time more efficiently and improve academics. Students learn how to balance their
activities and school work appropriately, this helps the student get their homework done on time
and limit procrastination (Jackson). With less time to do homework, students work more efficiently,
this limits those late night homework sessions, because students will make sure their work is done.
When participating in an extracurricular activity, students might find that they have less time to
work, so to compensate they plan out when they will complete their homework, showing
responsibility, and time management ( Why Extracurricular ). Responsibility and good time
management are beneficial because it shows that students know how to manage their time to
complete things before they are due. According to Nicole Jackson:

Violent Drug Crimes
Peter Wagner, executive director of the Policy Reform Initiative, stated on March 14, 2017, that
nonviolent drug convictions are a defining characteristic of the federal prison systems but play

40,900 in 1980 to 469,545 in 2015. Since it is common knowledge that racism is very much still
prevalent in today s society, I will forgo the argument of racial disparities concerning those

Germany s Depressed Economy Affected The Rise Of Hitler
Almost every country was deeply affected by WWI. During the 1920s, most of these countries
went into an economic depression. Germany was affected more than most due to sanctions and
post war agreements. Adolf Hitler began his rise to power and began making promises to the
citizens that were struggling. The deep crisis in Germany allowed Hitler to seize power in 1933.
This investigation will examine how Germany s depressed economy affected the rise of Hitler in
the early 1930s. Summary of Evidence After WWI ended, there were many changes for the Central
powers, which consisted of Germany, France, the Ottoman Empire, Austria Hungary and Bulgaria.
The victorious countries, United States, Great Britain and France, met up to write treaties to give
the losing countries the punishment they deserved for starting such chaos. Many of the treaties
signed, such as Treaty of Saint Germainen Laye, Treaty of Trianon, Treaty of Sevres and Treaty of
Lausanne hurt the losing powers worse by taking away land that they had acquired earlier. Around
ten months after the end of the Great War, Woodrow Wilson, then president of the United States,
proposed his famous plan Fourteen Points, which focused on preventing war in the future...
proposing a League of Nations to arbitrate further international disputes. When the German leaders
at the time signed this proposed plan, they believed that this was the beginning of a peaceful era.

agenda . (Hartman, 2013) With so much at stake one could wonder why we have not unified the
educational system of this country with the creation of national standards. Public Education, as the
term would apply, is a public entity, as such the members of the public community have an opinion
of what, and how the system should work. Unfortunately, that voice is often muddled by the politics

The Impact Of Ifrs On American Business
In 2014, a study from PricewaterhouseCoopers pointed that American investors are looking over
seas capital market for investment opportunities, and foreign investors are also looking for
investing opportunities in America. According to the research from PricewaterhouseCoopers in
2014, an estimates shows that there are around seven trillion US dollars are invested in foreign
stock markets, and American markets are open to non US firms too. Many of the foreign
companies use IFRS rule without any reconciliation to GAAP.
In the major international market, there are currently only four countries do not require IFRS rules,
and they are China, Japan, India, and the US. Pacter (2015) explained that presently there are one

Instead, in the over seas markets, numerous countries require IFRS for the statutory financial
reporting. As the result, the multinational companies located in the US will need to have the IFRS
reports for their subsidiaries located in over seas countries.
Pologeorgis (2012) stated that the diversity of accounting principle has an essential impact on the
stock markets, corporate management, and financial reporting. He pointed that when people
seeking for international capitals, varies of dissimilar accounting principles create discrepancies
in their financial reporting. If people cannot understand the differences between IFRS and GAAP,
they may have the chance to make the wrong decisions and loss money in the capital markets.
Pologeorgis (2012) also mentioned that international investors have to relearn the new principal in
order to be more familiar with the international standards. Based on above, there is a keen
motivation for people to understand the differences and similarities of GAAP and IFRS. This
research will show business people the main similarities and differences of GAAP and IFRS.
In revenue recognition:
In 2014, Sedki, Sedki, Strickland concluded that GAAP is complicated for people to use. It
provides more than two hundred industry specific rules for different firms to recognize revenue.
Therefor there is no effective regulation for people to use when they need to

The Ieee On Indoor Li Fi Systems
White Paper to the IEEE on Indoor Li Fi Systems
Matthew Fultz
ENGH 302
Due: 12/8/2016
Introduction
In 2011, Herald Haas gave a Ted talk on light fidelity (Li Fi) and demonstrated a functional Li Fi
system and spoke of the future of telecommunications (Haas, Harald). His lecture sparked a wave
of research on bidirectional Li Fi that has given renewed hope for the internet of things (IoT).
Kevin Ashton, an MIT graduate, first introduced the IoT when he gave a presentation on the
goal in 1999 (Davenport, Thomas). Herald Haas, who is now owns a Li Fi company called
pureLiFi, asserts that every luminaire in a trafficked area will serve as an access point (AP) for
user devices (UD)(Haas, Harald). Since 2011, we have done a research on how to best
implement Li Fi, but there is still much research to be done. With the tight congestion in the RF
spectrum, we are forced to look for other wireless solutions. There are a few solutions, such as
WiGig, but Li Fi has emerged as the fastest means of bidirectionally wirelessly transmitting
information. There are many advantages and many drawbacks, but the more research we conduct,
the closer we get to making Li Fi a widespread technology.
The implementation of light fidelity (Li Fi) is the next step towards a world characterized by the
Internet of Things (IoT) because it will enable faster communication, release pressure off of the RF
spectrum, and increase network security. Li Fi, like WiFi,

Algeria After Independence Essay
After independence (1962 1999)
The Evian Accords which were signed in 1962 giving Algeria immediate independence and French
aid to help reconstruct the country. The French Sahara with its oil resources was also handed over
to Algeria. In return the FLN guaranteed protection and civil rights for the French Algerians
choosing to remain in the country, and the option of choosing either French or Algerian nationality
after three years.
Eight years of war had shattered Algeria. There had been more than one million Algerian casualties
and nearly two million Algerians had lost their homes. For over a century the French had deprived
the Algerians of any but the most minimal opportunity to become involved in its infrastructure and
institutions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The country s oil resources were developed and an industrial sector was established. Education and
literacy became a focus of concentration and agricultural land reform continued. In the process the
Boumedienne government developed a socialist political system which was codified in a
constitution in 1976. Under the new constitution Boumedienne was elected president of Algeria and
ruled until his death. However, for all Algeria s accomplishments during this period, imposing
authoritarian one party socialism on a traditional Islamic country was considered a mistake.
When Boumedienne s chosen successor, Colonel Chadli Benjedid, was elected president of
Algeria he began to relax the government s authoritarian practices and made a genuine attempt
to solve some of the country s problems. Benjedid also pardoned Ahmed Ben Bella in 1980 and
released him from house arrest. However, for all his liberal tendencies, Benjedid was a product of
the FLN military elite and was re elected in 1984 because he ran unopposed.
With the fall of oil prices and the resurgence of Islam, the government s credibility fell
dramatically. The manifest failure of world socialism and the government s failure to solve the
country s increasing social and economic problems, encouraged more and more Algerians to

Why People Are Afraid Of Immigrants In Canada
Society in Canada
The reason that people are afraid of immigrants it is because it brings a change in a society. They
don t want to experience the change. It is shown to them explaining why they don t like
immigrants. They argue that it is not the race of the other that they dislike, but that they do not like
what they wear, or the houses they build, or the way they live. This is a backlash racism , or
reactive racism often targets cultural practices and attributes of ethnic (Blundell, 2003, p.56). They
express their anger towards the ethnic minorities in graffiti, verbal abuse, physical attacks, etc.
Immigrants in Canada are accused of being job stealers, inflating the real estate, having a monster
house, taking advantage of welfare, dressing inappropriately, etc. They were called job stealers
because when the Asians come to Canada, they take jobs that the Canadian abandoned or did not
want to take it. Asians were also working on a low wage compared to a Canadian. Which make a
profit for the company by hiring them. They were accused of inflating the real estate and make the
Canadian unable to afford a house. It is not the immigrants who raised the value of the house but it
is the property sellers and the local ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Residents complained about the large houses, which change the traditional character of the
neighborhood and inflate real estate values (Blundell, 2003, p.56). Immigrants home were
named monster house because they lived in a bigger house. It was a shock for Canadian to have
a change in architectural style. Asian people bought a larger house because they have a larger
size of the family. If a white Canadians build a larger house and lives in it, it would seem like a
beautiful house. If an Asian does that, people would call the house as a monster

Cultural Uniformity In The Twentieth Century
In the early twentieth century, the United States was quickly evolving to become a nation of
prestige on the global stage. Yet the young nation lagged in cultural uniformity which its
counterparts in Europe had been developing since the birth of the first European kingdoms. The
progression in cultural philosophy further evolved with significant cultural movements such as
Humanism and the Renaissance, the Enlightenment, Romanticism then Realism, and then the
twentieth century s Modernism. The United Statesdid witness the effects of these movements but
their effects lagged in significance because of the great social divide the nation faced and still faces.
The nation is home to a bountiful population that lacks cultural uniformity because of... Show more

DuBois and Alfred Rosenberg both touch upon the racial issues in the conflicting rural and urban
communities, in their pieces Of Work and Wealth and Myth of the Twentieth Century
respectively. DuBois writes about the East St. Louis Race Riot of 1917 that was a result of black
workers replacing white workers that were unionizing and protesting. DuBois expresses how the
race institutions and disfranchisement promote racial tensions that unilaterally destroy any sense
of cultural unity in the Middle West and throughout the nation. Mr. DuBois encourages the
blacks to not give back because they were guaranteed the same rights after the Civil War and that
the disenfranchisement through local laws such as those of Jim Crow would serve as a lesson to
the nation. He states at the end of his piece about the riots that the American Negroes stand today
as the greatest strategic group in the world. Their services are indispensable, their temper and
character are fine, and their souls have seen a vision more beautiful than any other mass of
workers. They may win back culture to the world if their strength can be used with the forces of
the world that make for justice and not against the hidden hates that fight for barbarism, expressing
that what they stand for may serve as morale for the world and that life in the urban centers during
this period tended to be full of chaos and cultural

Comparison Of 14 HP Vs. 16 HP
14 HP vs. 16 HP
Many families try to find fun things to do in the summer when the kids are on break. Some go on
cruises, while others visit historical sites, some even join sports or associations. Wild Card Pulling
is a fun association to join whether the family members are pulling, or just watching.
Wild Card Pulling is a group of people who host garden tractor pulls all over Minnesota. This
association has three horsepower (HP) classes; 14 HP, 16 HP, and 20HP. Horsepower is a unit of
power used in engines; one horsepower is equal to 550 foot pounds per second ( Horsepower ). A
foot pound is a unit of energy equal to the amount required to move 1 pound a distance of 1 foot (
Foot Pound ). The topics that are going to be contrasted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These tractors frames are left the way they are manufactured because in most cases, modifying
the machines adds weight. When too much weight is added to the machines, classes need to be
dropped. Since there are only two classes for these tractors, dropping classes would be
disadvantageous. These tractors are kept light so the driver can pull in certain classes and so the
tires can be changed in between classes.
The two most common types of tires are turf tires and lug tires. 14 HP tractors are usually pulled
with both turf and lug tires. A turf tirehas surrounding rows of chevron shaped tread blocks; these
provide some traction on the track, without not digging up and damaging the turf (Lawn Tractor
par. 7). Lug tires come in many tread sizes, the grips are different widths and lengths. The lug
design on these tractor tires work to channel mud and other materials away from the tire so the
material does not build up in front of the skid (Lug Tread). Turf tires are able to pull up to 175
feet, lug tires can surpass 250 feet, if the track permits.
The 16 HPs are usually elongated for maximum pulling power; lengthening the frame helps
increase leverage. Doing so puts more weight on the back end, which increases pulling
performance. These tractors are normally pulled with Lug tires. The 16 HP tractor is generally
larger than the 14 HP tractors therefore, the machine is more difficult to move around. Changing
from turf to lug tires

Purpose of the study
The main purpose of this study was to ascertain how lipid transport molecules LDL, HDL, and
triglycerides are linked to neuropsychological function.
Hypothesis (es)
The authors of this study made the hypothesis that elevated levels of triglycerides and LDL
cholesterol would be related to decreased neuropsychological function, with a greater link in the
scopes of memory and executive function.
Participants
A total of 74 females and 46 males participated in this study. All these participants were taken from
two different studies, yet it is to be noted that these studies overlapped one another. The
participants were chosen on the premise of having existing or an absence of cerebrovascular
disease (CVD) risk components, for example, cholesterol, blood pressure, and an atypical regulated
glucose. Out of the one hundred twenty three participants in this study, thirty one of these
participants were chosen from a larger sample taken from the Harvard Cooperative Program on
Aging (HCPA) Clause Pepper Older American Independence Center. The participants that partook in

Experiment: Enzyme Kinetics
Abstract
The aim of the study is two fold: to study the rate of absorbance with increasing concentration of
glucose, and to measure the activity of enzyme yeast invertase on sucrose. In task 1, the product
formation was measured using 3, 5 dinitrosalicyclic acid that reacts with glucose leading to a
change in colour from yellow to reddish brown. In task 2, the enzyme kinetics of yeast invertase
on sucrose was studied. The absorbance values of the corresponding volumes of the solutions were
measured using a spectrophotometer. Michaelis Menten curve and Lineweaver Burk Plot were
made in order to estimate the values of Vmax and Km ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Discussion
Using Michaelis formula Vmax can be obtained as follows: VO=VMax ((substrate concentration)
/(subtrate concentration +km))
Vo=absorbence/min for example, 0.018/5min =0.0036/min.
From Figure 4, the maximum velocity is the highest point on the curve and the constant (km) is ВЅ
the maximum velocity. However, it is difficult to estimate Vmax using Michaelis Menten curve
with precision since the limits of the hyperbolic curve deviate at varying concentrations of the
substrate. The data can be linearized using Lineweaver Burk Plot to obtain Vmax and Km as
follows: Slope=Km/V_max
From Figure 5, Vmax = 0.0172 and Km = 0.3144. At ВЅ Vmax (Figure 4), the rate of reaction
increases steadily with an increase in substrate concentration. At this point, the rate of product
formation is partially limited by substrate availability. As the curve approaches Vmax, the enzyme
catalyzed saturation increases. In effect, the enzyme activity increases the rate of product formation
up to a point whereby the reaction rate remains constant as more substrate is added (saturation).

As in most of the humans muscle contraction frequencies are 40 and 60 hertz. 3.Battery powered devices Leaking of current from a battery powered device is not dangerous. They are safe because there is continuous 0 hertz DC current regardless of its amplitude and duration. This low voltage current cannot be able to cause nerve depolarization and thus couldn t induce titanic muscle contraction. • 5. 100 Life Expectancy Calculator I was surprised at how much education level, marital status, weight, blood pressure, and stress can affect a life expectance. According to the Living to 100 Life Expectancy Calculator, I am predicted to live to 93 years old. A 2015 National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine report said men born in 1930 could expect to reach about age 82 if their income put them in the top 20 percent of earners and they survived to age 50. And high earners born in 1960 are projected to live to 89 a sizable seven year gain in three decades (Henricks, 2018, para 9). Marital status can also play a part in determining longevity. Getting married is a good way to live longer at least that s what research says (Bushak, 2015, para 12). Having... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In general they suggest a lifestyle of moderation. However, a factor that they do mention that some cannot control is their genetics. Several people that are centenarians also had members of their families that lived long lives. Even though it is not certain a person will live to be a centenarian, maintaining a healthy body weight, exercising regularly, not smoking, and eating a healthy diet can all be contributing factors. Experts also agree that where a person lives, good diet, active lifestyle, and supportive family structure play a role in a person s longevity. I m sure these are all important factors, but there are no guarantees because life is unpredictable. Buskak, Lecia. Married Vs Single: What Science Says is Better for Your Health. Medical Daily. • 6. Herbal Essences Advertisement Analysis Semiotics is a critical approach that studies the symbols as elements of communicative behaviour (Dictionary.com). One would analyze the image influence, language influence, and the intention of the advertisement. Image influence includes colours, pictures, and the action (if necessary). Language influence contains the text size, type of font, and phrases. The intention of the ad includes the purpose and the intended audience (age, gender, culture (etc.)). I will be focusing on the utilization of semiotics through a Herbal Essences advertisement. The ad motivates its customers by its image, language, and purpose. Firstly, the image presented by Herbal Essences catches the viewers attention. Initially, if one were to look at the advertisement, the first picture he or she would notice is the woman Nicole Scherzinger. It is the largest image on the poster making her the central attraction. She is a celebrity which could influence her fans to purchase the product. Nicole looks happy with her smooth, shiny hair. This can lead others to think that the product gives customer satisfaction. Her face has a glow, which makes her look radiant. Also, one would notice that she is touching her shiny, wavy, black hair, which makes her look attractive and gives it a sexual appeal. In the online article How can Advertising Affect Consumers? the author states, ...By associating your product with the most basic human desires of your audience, you may motivate them to act. • 7. A Comparison Of The Pantheon And The Parthenon Introduction With just a quick glance at pictures taken from a distance of the front of the Pantheon and the Parthenon, one might conclude that they are the same building or the same design. Both have eight Greek inspired columns topped with metopes and a triangular pediment at the entry portico (front). However, any other view and a closer look would reveal substantial differences. Even the condition of the present buildings would indicate that the buildings are from very different times and, of course, very different locations. The Parthenon The Parthenon is a Greek temple constructed in 447 BC. It was designed by the architect/artist Phidias and commissioned by Perikles after the Peliponnesian War to worship the Greek goddess, Athena. Reed (2005) The building is a classical Greek structure in the Doric order known as a peripteral THE PANTHEON AND THE PARTHENON 2 octastyle Doric temple with Ionic columns. Wikipedia (2017a) The octastyle designation refers to the eight columns at each end of the structure. The building ends also have a second row of six columns at the interior of the outer columns. The interior is divided into two rooms by masonry walls with interior columns in each room. The building was and is famous for its ornate sculpture on the surface of the temple along the frieze and pediments as well as sculptures on the interior of the building, namely the chryselephantine statue of Athena sculpted by Phidias. The laptop did contain password protection software; however, it may not have been enough to permit access if the thief had advanced knowledge in computers. Additionally, the information stored on the laptop did not include social security or health insurance information, but instead held patient names, medical record numbers, dates of birth, telephone numbers, e mail addresses, and treatment and doctor visits (Moscaritolo, 2010, p. 1). It is unknown how many records were contained on the laptop, but all records were related to prostate services that were provided during an eleven year span. Reaction to Incident Once it was revealed that the laptop was missing, Meredith Phillips, the chief privacy officer for the hospital, notified all involved patients by letter and offered each of them a free one year credit monitoring service (Henry Ford Health System, 2010). The hospital also established a telephone help line that addressed patient concerns (toll free), as well as initiated an internal investigation to determine if appropriate security measures were followed. In 1989 Kevorkian heard the story of David Rivlin, a 38 year old Michigan man who had become a quadriplegic at 19, and had been reduced to needing a respirator after a failed spinal surgery. Rivlin wanted to be taken off life support, and when Kevorkian heard of his story, he worked on helping him commit suicide (Betzold, 1993). Kevorkian designed and built his Thanatron (Greek for death machine ), which he built for $30 using parts that he found at garage sales (Garsten, 1999). However, Rivlin refused Kevorkian s help and used another doctor to remove life support. Therefore, if any employer reads it as a how to book rather than just a work of political theory, they can be seen as the ruler while the state would be the rest of the employees. If this is followed like an agenda, the sole purpose of government is not the good of the people but the stability of the state and the perpetuation of the established ruler s control. • 12. Analysis Of Culpepper And Koester s Writing I ve Learned... Reflection Paper In Culpepper and Koester s writing I ve learned a great deal about the Gospel of John from all perspectives. I ve learned everything from what makes John unique, the Gospel of John as literature, and some theological insight on the Gospel of John. In this particular paper though I want to focus on three key questions asked and deliver well thought out ideas and answers. Also in this paper the reader will learn what the similarities and differences John has from the Synoptic Gospels, what difference would it make to Christian belief today if the Gospel of John was never written, and what my favorite gospel is and why? First the question is asked, How is John similar to and different from the synoptic gospels? Is there evidence that John is aware of the existence of the synoptic gospels ? First we have to understand that although John s Gospel has much in common with the other New Testament gospels, it is largely independent from the others as well (Koester 4). Some similarities that John and the synoptic Gospels have is they all link Jesus to the town of Nazareth. They all say that Jesus had a group of disciples, he taught others, he healed those in need of healing, and they all recorded the scene of feeding the five thousand. Now John is different from the other gospels in a few different ways. The first way John is different from the others is the journeys talked about throughout the gospels, for instance only Matthew and Luke contains accounts of Jesus ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Hippo Pathway Lab Report Regulation of the Hippo YAP Pathway by G Protein Coupled Receptor Signaling Review Lee Stunkard Organ size regulation has continued to remain elusive. Recently, the Hippo pathway has been proposed to be involved in organ size regulation. The Hippo pathway regulates the size of organs through controlling cell number. A major downstream effector of the Hippo pathway is the transcription coactivator Yes associated protein (YAP). YAP is responsible for upregulating genes that promote cell proliferation and downregulating genes that promote cell apoptosis. Elongated upregulation of YAP leads to hyperplasia and tumor formation. YAP is inhibited by Lats 1/2 through phosphorylation of serine 127. When serine 127 becomes phosphorylated YAP binds to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cell growth, migration, proliferation and mRNA levels of YAP regulated genes were tested using LPA treated cells that had YAP/TAZ knockdown. Cell growth, migration, proliferation and mRNA levels of YAP regulated genes were all significantly repressed compared to the controls suggesting that LPA acts through YAP/TAZ. Similar to YAP, TAZ was shown to localize in the nuclear fractions of cells in immunofluorescence experiments. MST 1/2 and Lats 1/2 levels were tested in response to LPA treatment. LPA was shown to inhibit Lats 1/2 but not MST 1/2 in immunoblot experiments. Then to test how LPA and S1P were modulating YAP/TAZ immunoblotting experiments were utilized. LPA and S1P were found to modulate YAP/TAZ through G protein coupled receptor signaling and Rho GTPases. More specifically, G12/13 receptors appeared to be most involved while Gq/11 receptors were only slightly involved in dephosphorylating YAP/TAZ. On the other hand, Gs receptors had the opposite effect, phosphorylating and inhibiting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Serpent In Dante s Inferno The serpent that is illustrated in Genesis is a creature who represented Satan who then enticed Eve into eating out of the garden of Eden with the crafty words, You will not certainly die, the serpent said to the woman (Genesis, 3:4). The serpent in these works symbolizes evil and how the temptation of it the sinis difficult to escape after being committed. After discussing the serpent representing the difficulty of escaping it whether it is temptation or the impossible escape of the devil like serpent after committing the sin. The sin then becomes repetitive. Maybe due to the fact that it is pleasurable or easy. Dante uses the repetition of the sinner s torment symbolized the repetition of sin. • 19. What Is The Labyrinth In Looking For Alaska I have the same view of Looking for Alaska having finished it than when I wrote the first journal. It s crazy good and John Green is a crazy good author. His writing style and technique show how experienced he is. Green portrays a lot of different people in his novels. He does seem to use many stereotypical characters, but I think he means to do it that way. I definitely like characters in novels that do fit into society. However, when you have people that you can fit into a certain category, it surprises you more when they do something you wouldn t expect. After all this time, it seems to me like straight and fast is the only way out but I choose the labyrinth. The labyrinth blows, but I choose it (Green 216). This quote shows that the Colonel knows life gives some horrible twists in the original plan, however he seems to take it in stride. Pudge believes the only way to get through is with forgiveness. He s constantly feeling guilty for things he did or didn t do. Finally, he realizes that he can t let his past haunt him; he has to forgive himself for the past and forgive others. Alaska believes it is suffering that you need to escape. She believes that all life is, is suffering and you can t really escape. She has a pretty pessimistic view on life in general and thinks the only way out his straight and fast. Her death could be a true example of that, which brings us to another issue that Green leaves us with at the end of the book. How did she really die? Her success in her reign, viewed in later centuries, cannot adequately encompass all that she did or how she maintained her power. She used her intellect to create an empire. Within William Padens argument about myths, he discusses the benefits of believing in a mythic story, because mythic stories can build the world (Paden 84). With the help of the epic of Gilgamesh, this myth will help to create a connection between the statement by William Paden, and the character of Gilgamesh. By creating a connection between these two texts, the theory of love, unavoidable fate of death, and the imbalance of power are the reoccurring themes and theories that are the building blocks to the statement by William Paden. By connecting the epic of Gilgamesh to how it can build a world, there is a certain theme and theory that can be connected. In the epic of Gilgamesh, the love that Gilgamesh had for Enkidu is the motivating factor that helps Gilgamesh become a noble king. By 2100 BCE, Gilgamesh was the king of Uruk, but had terrorized his people and couldn t tame his energy (Dalley 51). When the people of Uruk had asked the gods to get Gilgamesh a rival, Enkidu was born (Dalley 53). Violent Drug Crimes Peter Wagner, executive director of the Policy Reform Initiative, stated on March 14, 2017, that nonviolent drug convictions are a defining characteristic of the federal prison systems but play only a supporting role at the state and local levels. Since the official beginning of the War on Drugs in 1982, the number of people incarcerated for drug offenses in the U.S. skyrocketed from 40,900 in 1980 to 469,545 in 2015. Since it is common knowledge that racism is very much still prevalent in today s society, I will forgo the argument of racial disparities concerning those convicted for drug crimes or any crime, for the statistics speak for themselves. 1 in every 106 white males age 18 or older is incarcerated. 1 in every 36 hispanic or ... Racial profiling in the treatment toward the younger generation is one of the driving causes of the future effects we see happen. For example, these group of young adolescents that are targeted because of their skin color have to face a myriad of unnecessary obstacles in the aftermath such as not being able to complete their education, not being able to find a job much less a career, and not being able to be a part of society. These often hinder their success as individuals and ultimately is detrimental to our society as a whole. Based off of data gathered by the U.S. Department of Justice, if current trends continue, one of every three black males born today will go to prison in his lifetime, as will one of every six Latino males. Germany was affected more than most due to sanctions and post war agreements. Adolf Hitler began his rise to power and began making promises to the citizens that were struggling. The deep crisis in Germany allowed Hitler to seize power in 1933. This investigation will examine how Germany s depressed economy affected the rise of Hitler in the early 1930s. Summary of Evidence After WWI ended, there were many changes for the Central powers, which consisted of Germany, France, the Ottoman Empire, Austria Hungary and Bulgaria. The victorious countries, United States, Great Britain and France, met up to write treaties to give the losing countries the punishment they deserved for starting such chaos. Many of the treaties signed, such as Treaty of Saint Germainen Laye, Treaty of Trianon, Treaty of Sevres and Treaty of Lausanne hurt the losing powers worse by taking away land that they had acquired earlier. Around ten months after the end of the Great War, Woodrow Wilson, then president of the United States, proposed his famous plan Fourteen Points, which focused on preventing war in the future... proposing a League of Nations to arbitrate further international disputes. When the German leaders at the time signed this proposed plan, they believed that this was the beginning of a peaceful era. However, the Entente powers had different plans. The countries known ... The Ieee On Indoor Li Fi Systems White Paper to the IEEE on Indoor Li Fi Systems Matthew Fultz ENGH 302 Due: 12/8/2016 Introduction In 2011, Herald Haas gave a Ted talk on light fidelity (Li Fi) and demonstrated a functional Li Fi system and spoke of the future of telecommunications (Haas, Harald). His lecture sparked a wave of research on bidirectional Li Fi that has given renewed hope for the internet of things (IoT). Kevin Ashton, an MIT graduate, first introduced the IoT when he gave a presentation on the goal in 1999 (Davenport, Thomas). Herald Haas, who is now owns a Li Fi company called pureLiFi, asserts that every luminaire in a trafficked area will serve as an access point (AP) for user devices (UD)(Haas, Harald). Since 2011, we have done a research on how to best implement Li Fi, but there is still much research to be done. With the tight congestion in the RF spectrum, we are forced to look for other wireless solutions. There are a few solutions, such as WiGig, but Li Fi has emerged as the fastest means of bidirectionally wirelessly transmitting information. There are many advantages and many drawbacks, but the more research we conduct, the closer we get to making Li Fi a widespread technology. The implementation of light fidelity (Li Fi) is the next step towards a world characterized by the Internet of Things (IoT) because it will enable faster communication, release pressure off of the RF spectrum, and increase network security. DuBois expresses how the race institutions and disfranchisement promote racial tensions that unilaterally destroy any sense of cultural unity in the Middle West and throughout the nation. Mr. DuBois encourages the blacks to not give back because they were guaranteed the same rights after the Civil War and that the disenfranchisement through local laws such as those of Jim Crow would serve as a lesson to the nation. When too much weight is added to the machines, classes need to be dropped. Since there are only two classes for these tractors, dropping classes would be disadvantageous. These tractors are kept light so the driver can pull in certain classes and so the tires can be changed in between classes. The two most common types of tires are turf tires and lug tires. 14 HP tractors are usually pulled with both turf and lug tires. A turf tirehas surrounding rows of chevron shaped tread blocks; these provide some traction on the track, without not digging up and damaging the turf (Lawn Tractor par. 7). Lug tires come in many tread sizes, the grips are different widths and lengths. The lug design on these tractor tires work to channel mud and other materials away from the tire so the material does not build up in front of the skid (Lug Tread). Turf tires are able to pull up to 175 feet, lug tires can surpass 250 feet, if the track permits. The 16 HPs are usually elongated for maximum pulling power; lengthening the frame helps increase leverage. Doing so puts more weight on the back end, which increases pulling performance. These tractors are normally pulled with Lug tires. The 16 HP tractor is generally larger than the 14 HP tractors therefore, the machine is more difficult to move around. Student s Name Instructor s Name CHEM 202 Date of Submission Biochemistry Laboratory Experiment: Enzyme Kinetics Abstract The aim of the study is two fold: to study the rate of absorbance with increasing concentration of glucose, and to measure the activity of enzyme yeast invertase on sucrose. In task 1, the product formation was measured using 3, 5 dinitrosalicyclic acid that reacts with glucose leading to a change in colour from yellow to reddish brown. In task 2, the enzyme kinetics of yeast invertase on sucrose was studied. The absorbance values of the corresponding volumes of the solutions were measured using a spectrophotometer. Discussion Using Michaelis formula Vmax can be obtained as follows: VO=VMax ((substrate concentration) /(subtrate concentration +km)) Vo=absorbence/min for example, 0.018/5min =0.0036/min. From Figure 4, the maximum velocity is the highest point on the curve and the constant (km) is ВЅ the maximum velocity. However, it is difficult to estimate Vmax using Michaelis Menten curve with precision since the limits of the hyperbolic curve deviate at varying concentrations of the substrate. The data can be linearized using Lineweaver Burk Plot to obtain Vmax and Km as follows: Slope=Km/V_max From Figure 5, Vmax = 0.0172 and Km = 0.3144. At ВЅ Vmax (Figure 4), the rate of reaction increases steadily with an increase in substrate concentration. At this point, the rate of product formation is partially limited by substrate availability. As the curve approaches Vmax, the enzyme catalyzed saturation increases. In effect, the enzyme activity increases the rate of product formation up to a point whereby the reaction rate remains constant as more substrate is added (saturation). ...
