There are many subcultures in the United States that are strange to me that some people think are
completely normal. A subculture is a cultural group within a larger culture that has the same
interests, beliefs, behaviors, or religion. Subcultures varies from things like southern food culture,
to things like bodybuilding. The strangest subcultures to me are the vampires, and the bronies.
There were some more in mind, but these are the two that stood out the most to me.

room temperature until crystals started to form, then the flask was placed into an ice bath. The

Zhivago and how his life was constantly changed throughout the Russian revolution. One Day in
the Life of Ivan Denisovich describes the daily routine that Ivan Denisovich Shukhov, an inmate in
a labor camp, goes through for eight years to fulfill his sentence. Doctor Zhivago and One Day in
the Life of Ivan Denisovich are both set in Soviet Russia, an obvious similarity. Though both works
take place in Soviet Russia, they take place at different time periods. Doctor Zhivago takes place
from 1912 to 1923, years that had three very important events occurring; The Russian Revolution,

Her number without a name that was put on a list which then was misplaced, so there was no
record of her ever again. In One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, we see the idea of a labor
camp obviously show up constantly, since the main character and everyone in that case is in one. In
conclusion, both the film and the novel have their similarities and differences. They might be quite
hard to spot immediately if one has not read the novel, or has a bit of information on Soviet
Russia. If you have read the novel, you can tie many things back to the film, but you will notice
how both of them can relate somehow but not fully to the point where you can say that both give
out the same

Gun Assault Shootings
More and more often, we are saddened by the news of mass shootings. Whether it takes place in a
school or public area, these shootings are both disastrous and mortifying. Families begin to feel
anger and sadness and demand immediate justice. Although these terrible events continue to
happen, there have been no significant steps taken towards the decrease in the number of
weapons; specifically, assault rifles. This leads one to question do we need to ban the right to own
such weapons? If the possession of these weapons is not made illegal, we run the risk of another
attack. A ban on assault rifles is not the answer because they are not the cause of such events, and it
is a constitutional right to own them.
In 1994, Congress passed the Federal Assault Weapons Banwhich eliminated the manufacturing of
certain assault rifles for private use (Plumer). This bill expired in 2004 and was never redrafted.
Many mass shootings in the last few years, especially ones at Virginia Tech, a movie theater in
Colorado, and Sandy Hook elementary school in Connecticut, Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Harvest
Music Festival in Las Vegas, First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs have stirred up the
pressure to pass a new bill.
Following the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, California Senator, Dianne
Feinstein, drafted a bill to potentially ban the sale, transfer, manufacturing, and importation of
assault rifles. This bill includes a ban on semiautomatic rifles, pistols, shotguns,
