The Current State Of International Politics
In this paper I will argue that the current state of international politics is characterized more by
cooperation then conflict, and the international politics today is more cooperative then it was in
previous eras of international relations. The change in behavior is a result of increased participation
in formal international institutions, and the growing interconnectedness of societies as a result of
globalization. The shift in international relationsfrom conflictual to cooperative behavior can be
seen in international security, monetary relations, and the environment, as states, combined with
new non state actors have begun to utilize formal institutions to generate solutions to international
tribulations.
INTERNATIONAL SECURITY
The anarchic nature of international politics creates insecurity for states at the international level,
forcing states to develop institutions to create their own security. Throughout history, actors have
developed various approaches to mitigate the anarchy of international politics, such as arms build
up, alliances, and hegemonic balances of power. While these systems may offer some cooperation,
given the multipolar nature of the world today and the increase in security threats from non state,
transnational actors, our current system of collective security institutions has created a new era
cooperation in international security.
Security Previous Eras
In previous eras of international relations, states have attempted to gain security

Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of Print Media And Printed...
Introduction The term media is already familiar to our ears, and every almost every timewe are
dealing with something that s called media. But, what exactly is the media? Understanding media
can refer to at least two things : communication and computing. Media are all forms and channels
used to convey information ora message. According to Saiful Bahri Djamarah : Media is a tool
that can be used as a channel to reach the target message. While Miarso said that media is anything
that can be used to transmit message that can stimulate the mind, feelings, concern and willingness
of students to learn. There are two types of media that people often use which is printed media and
electronic media. Definition of Printed Media Printed media... Show more content on

centuries ago, the printed media was the only form of mass communication. Then came electronic
medium. Though both print and electronic media deal with mass communication, there arecertain
basic comparison. Literacy is basic requirements for printed media, only a literate person can read
it. While, electronic media even illiterate person can watch news and understand the content

reader friendly but language used in electronic media is spoken and more viewer friendly. In
printedmedia readers have choice to go back, recheck and repeatable what they have read, different
for electronic media that viewers cannot go back and recheck what they seen. Frequent update of

An Inverse Of A Relational Model
with range queries and bitmaps.
2.4 Column Store Model
In this model, data is stored in sections of columns instead of rows. This is almost an inverse of a
relational model. The names of the column need not be predefined, i.e. the structure isn t fixed,
which helps in great scalability and performance. Columns in a row are stored in order according to
their keys. A super column also might be used which is nothing but a column containing nested sub
columns.
2.4.1 Cassandra:
Apache Cassandra is open source NoSQL database and it was found in Facebook. Cassandra s data
model offers the convenience of column indexes with the performance of log structured updates. It

Instead of using tables connected by keys, this model stores each record and its related data in
the same document thereby eliminating the need of JOIN queries as in a relational model.

and thus there are wide rows. Cassandra consists of keyspaces similar to databases to relational
databases and column family that is similar to tables in relational databases.
Key value store is a concept of storing the data value inside a key and Redis uses this concept. A
particular benefit of key value stores is their simplicity and It supports such as data structures
such as strings, hashes, lists, sets, sorted sets with range queries and bitmaps. Whereas in Neo4j,
the application data is stored in the form graphs, nodes and relationships. Neo4j Graph database

bidirectional. Properties are key value pairs.

Police Accountability Essay
This essay will describe the mechanisms by which the British Police are held to account, and
will touch upon the paradox of police governance, the balance of unwanted coercion of police,
financial stewardship and police legitimacy. This essay will also divulge into a discussion on the
topic; is policing political? There will be an argument for and against, and the advantages and
disadvantages to both sides will be conversed to achieve an accurate conclusion. In addition this
essay will start by portraying the significance of PoliceAccountability.
Police Accountability in both England and Wales, became a national political issue throughout
the 1980 s, the issues mainly alarmed those who had power over the police, who ought to
manage them and whether they were beyond democratic control. However, in recent years these
issues have lost some of their debate and accountability now focus on police effectiveness and
police performance. The police are to follow the rule of law and legislation (legislation is where
powers of police are derived) and are subordinated to the law. Police also have allegiance to the
crown, which serves as an alternative to the state, as a central organizing principle of government.
The model known as the tripartite system (shown below) conveys police accountability and is the
essential basis of police governance. It is established under the 1964 Police Act.
The tripartite system evenly distributes responsibilities between the following:

The Breakfast Club Essay
The Breakfast Club, released in 1985 by director John Hughes, is a film about five high school
students, from different social groups, and their bond over shared worries and issues in Saturday
morning detention. These students show the two main issues of high school students: peer pressure
and family issues. The film examines the effects of these issues on student s everyday life and view
on the world. Some of these effects include bullying, contemplation of suicide, drugs, and
depression. In each of the characters, The Breakfast Club shows these negative effects on teenagers
and examines the concept of adulthood and fitting in from an adolescent perspective. But not only
that, The Breakfast Club condemns the existence of these problems... Show more content on

Brian is insulted by this notion because he is aware that everyone has issues, regardless of who
they are. Claire is pressured by her friends to act cool . Brian is pressured by his friends to be
smart. Although Bender believes that he is outside of social norms, he conforms to them just like
everyone and is pressured to be above it all and lax. John Hughes wanted all teens to know that
although everyone has problems, and in moving past our apparent differences, we can bond.
Each character is a representative of the various social hierarchies in a high school setting and
although each of their problems are specific to their individual lifestyle, they all overarch and
connect with the others. A famous scene of The Breakfast Club is the floor sharing scene, when
all of the pretense is stripped away and all that is left are five scared high schoolers wanting to
be better in life. In this scene, the effects of peer pressure are shown. When asked on why he was
in detention, the athlete Andrew stated that he had taped a guy s buns together. He explained that
he did it as a prank, under the direction of his friends, but the joke soon took a dark turn. When
stripping off the tape, hair and skin was removed as well. His friends and even his father did not

Tom Brennan Social Justice Quotes
The concept of social justice is based of human rights and equality, this is the way people are
treated in everyday life. The text I am currently studying is The story of Tom Brennan and I am
seeing how this has some aspects of social justice like alcohol abuse and property vandalism.
The story of Tom Brennan is a book about a nineteen year old boy named Tom Brennan who has
his life turned upside down because of a car crash that resulted in two deaths and one paralyzed.
One example of social justice in this book is the fact that Daniel was under the influence of
alcohol whilst driving, thus causing the car crash which affected the whole town and making the
town angry against the Brennan family, my second example is the fact that there was alcohol at
the rugby after party, but I personally believe it is one hundred percent ok with alcohol at the
party, it just has to be their responsibility that they have designated drivers to get others home
safely. There is also alcohol itself, that is the main cause of the car accident itself and that too just

also used connotative metaphor on page 165 by describing toms grans house and Tom s room as
the cave . I believe that a lot of aspects of social justice confirm my views on social justice, as it
was only Daniels fault for the whole thing and Daniel wasn t being responsible as he should have,
unlike Tom, who decided to walk home

The Power Of Louisa May Alcott
As stated by intellectual Joseph Wong, influence is our inner ability to lift people up to our
perspectives (Young Ch. 6). Throughout history, numerous writers have utilized their ability to
impact their readers to encourage their audience to follow the author s principles and beliefs.
Louisa May Alcott, born in Pennsylvania in 1832, was the type of writer to use her power to
influence her lectors views on the topics and issues that she was passionate about. Alcott s
father, Amos Bronson Alcott, was a writer, lecturer, and educator, and her mother, Abba May,
was a strong willed and independent woman and bright educator. Her brilliant parents helped
Alcott grow to be an intellectual, an independent female, and, as mentioned by Clark Moreland
in one of his lectures, ...a dark headed, volatile, and energetic child ( Lecture 3.4... ). After her
parents fell into deep debt, Alcott began to work to support her family. She served as a
seamstress, teacher, and, of course, a writer. As an open minded individual, Alcott was an
advocate of many causes and policies, and, through her compositions, she shared her beliefs to
guide her readers towards integrating her ideals into their lives. For instance, in 1863, Alcott
released her work My Contraband, first titled The Brothers. The piece featured a Civil War nurse,
Faith Dane, in the Union side who was in charge of caring for a captured, dying Confederate
captain and had a mulatto contraband, a slave who escaped to the Union side,

In 1950, an average worker used to work more than 11hour per week to produce as much as one
working 40 hours per week. A 15hours work used to cover household bills. Today most of the
people use to complain about working too much and that they are overworked. However, if we
look back in time or look at the picture on the side we can clearly see that the workers in 1950s
had it awful when it comes to the work time and their incomes. In 1952, the people worked for
48hours work in weeks, compared to today where people with a full time job only work for

Benefits Of A Paid Time Off Essay
Introduction
Paid time off (PTO) is the system employer use to accumulate all kind of leaves as sick days,

mostly in the USA as such no legal obligation for a minimum number of paid vacation days. the
PTO works best in the culture and accountable employee s environment existing. US company s

common in human resources management. unlike traditional more plans leave, PTO doesn t
distinguish employee s absences from personal days or vacation days or sick days. Studies show
that majority of the companies start using PTO system prior to the year 2000.
PTO system allowed employees to take time off without any restriction imposed through traditional
time off policies. the tactic provides employees with countable days that assign individually in the
system, upon usage of the leaves, the system automatically reduces the remaining balance day.

Essay The Abortion Arguments of Cider House Rules
The Abortion Arguments of Cider House Rules
I am writing this essay on a Saturday evening, not with any real contemplation, or even planning. I
am writing this because I was just minutes ago watching the movie Cider House Rules. I won t go
into the plot of the movie, but, to explain my motivation for writing this, I will simply describe one
portion of the movie.
The scene at issue in my mind right now is one where a fourteen year old girl comes to the
orphanage which is the setting for part of the movie. This girl came to the orphanage because it
was known in the region as a place that performed abortions. She had had a crude abortion
performed in such a way that she had been severely injured (her uterus was punctured by a crochet

In the movie, Homer is an orphan, and this may provide an interesting perspective in regards to the
status of the fetus. As an unwanted child himself, he empathizes with the unborn children that he
refuses to destroy.
So far, all we have talked about really is the emotion of the question of abortion. The purpose of
this essay (which will not be very long), is to examine these lines of reasoning, and to come to
some conclusion about the differing philosophies of these two characters.
The doctor s argument is, as I mentioned, very much a utilitarian one, and as you know, this sort
of argument doesn t sit well with me (see my Truth essays). Regardless of my perspective,
though, the doctor s first argument is one which many people (including some that I greatly
respect) accept as a good reason for legalized abortion. The doctor is making the very simple
assessment that one death is preferable to two. If the mother dies along with the baby, this is a
waste and a shame, therefore he feels as though he is obligated to perform an abortion that will not
likely harm the young woman at issue. Homer, on the other hand, takes a deontological stance he
believes that his performing an abortion is wrong, and that is as far as his reasoning has to go.
So far, the choice between philosophies is simple deontology or utilitarianism. In order to make the
choice a bit more relevant, allow me to

The Bluest Eye is a novel written by Toni Morrison that reveals many lessons and conflicts

Ohio. The dominant speaker of this book is a nine year old girl named Claudia MacTeer who gets
to know many of her neighbors. As a result of this, Claudia learns numerous lessons from her
experience with the citizens of Lorain. Besides Claudia, The Bluest Eye is also told through many

As he grew older, he learned how to direct his hatred to the cat and spent some happy moments

Junior. Because he is angry and hurt by this, he abuses his mother s cat who receives all the

Pauline in ways that also drift her away from her family. Mrs. Breedlove is a black woman who

Quebec Should Not Separate from Canada
Quebec should not separate from Canada
Quebec was founded by French settlers during the 16th century. It was then conquered by the
British (known as the conquest of New France in 1760). The Philosophy of the Enlightment allowed
Britain s victory to treat the French people with dignity as both nations were civilized societies

of textiles, furniture and dairy farms are reliant on the rest of Canada, would be adversely affected.
For example, dairy products from Quebec, which provide half of the industrial milk for the rest
country, would be subjected to higher prices and would decrease its demand. Quebec would lose
a stable supply of oil and gasoline from Canada (source). Resources of this nature in any industry

International trade agreements would spread to both Canada and Quebec in negotiations with
foreign countries. The negotiation processes are time consuming with high expenses and

more than two years with over a hundred of employees (source?). The aggregate costs of the
negotiations were estimated to be 30 million dollars (source?). Quebec does not only need to

Due to the high intervention of Quebec government in the economy, it is unlikely Quebec would

Persuasive Essay On The Sea
Come on little crabby, come into my pot. Ill slather you in butter, I ll eat you up a lot... , I sang
to my mother as she slowly pulled the crab pot up with her thick, black rubber gloves to protect
against the deep red jellyfish that strike with their long tentacles without notice. She pulled the
line gently, making sure not to disrupt the structure of the pot and release the delicious bottom
feeders we captured that morning. As the pot neared the surface, my siblings and I reached our
little heads over the side of the canoe. The wooden canoe rocked back and forth from our
weight, making us all scream in sync because we were scared of the dark, cold water of the
sound that sweeps children away with ease. The water is an abyss to us; full of deep sea
creatures that we have never encountered. We quivered at the thought of the sharks that slowly
make their way through the water, searching for the leftover seals that the orcas left behind
when they migrated through these waters. We fear these waters, but we respect them like the
generations before us. We never take more than we need, and we always give back. Even as
young children, we are careful to take care of this delicate system and learn from it. My mother
has always told me that crabbing is like marriage; a big, unescapable trap that lures with a
beautiful chunk of meat, to ultimately trap its prey forever. I always disregard that remark, and
look forward to chucking the little ladies back into the water. I reach in

British neuroscientist Adrian Raine was the first to scan the heads of murders to observe their
brain activity in California. The reason Professor Raine was drawn to California was because of
the homicides and murders there were in the whole state of California. Throughout a couple
years, professor Raine kept scanning the brains of murders and noticed something that appeared
in similarly in most of the murders. There was reduced activity in the frontal cortex of the brain.
The frontal cortex is the area of the brain where our emotional instincts are controlled. Professor
Raine also discovered that the amygdala, is where our emotions and motivations come from, is
over activated. This proves that serial killers and murderers have trouble controlling themselves
due to the their emotional state from the frontal cortex. What causes the brain to behave this
way? Well, Raine s studies suggest that childhood abuse and childhood trauma is the cause for
the emotions of a person to be overwritten. One of the patients Professor Raine scanned was

Total Quality Management Theory
Introduction
Most organizational management theories descend either from Frederick Taylor s scientific
management theory or from Elton Mayo s human relations model. Total Quality Management
(TQM) theory grew out of existing organizational management theories, in part, as a response to the
problems in those theories. Edwards Deming and Joseph Juran are most responsible for the
development of TQM. Deming and Juran began work on TQM in the 1930s and continued shaping
the management model into the 1990s. During the 1930s, Deming and Juran studied with Walter
Shewhart who developed Statistical Quality Control (SQC) theory. SQC argued that as quality

this experiment. The experiment prove that pH is a very crucial agent in cleaning of a pool. A
pound for pound efficiency is almost guaranteed for chlorine administered in any form if proper pH
management is considered. Looking at the dissociation of hypochlorous acid under different pH

Fight Club wasn t about how you defined yourself, your job, your house, how much money you
had, your social life, or any other reason. Fight Club is literally fighting for something real,
putting everything about you aside to focus on one central goal. Two men to a fight, one fight at
a time, no shoes, no shirts, fights go on as long as they have to... if this is your first night at fight
club, you have to fight (50). Fight club was a way for everyone regardless if you were a doctor,
lawyer, cashier, or business man to escape your troubles in life, your worries, and do something
real. Fight club has real consequences, and it is a way to offer an escape from who you think
you are to learn who you really are. During Fight Club, you have a new persona, and it makes
you realize that you are unhappy with your life, and gives you a way to change it. Fight Club
does this by abandoning all social aspects, creating guided rules, and giving people a chance to
start living. However, Fight Club never solves any issues or problems, it just gives people a way
to deal with the stress of their regular life. Ever week men got to fight, using their frustrations to
kick the living hell out of each other. It is almost like Fight Club was an out of body experience
for the participants, and turning them into a whole other person for the entirety of the fight. Fight
Club was the start to finding out who you really were, it was a recruitment for the men willing to
escape the consumer culture, and strike back to those who held you down. Fight Clubs were
appearing all across the United States, they were becoming a social movement that would further
evolve into Project Mayhem (a group of elite people willing to abandon normal social life to stick

The Category of Factor X
Malcolm X, an African American Muslim minster and human rights activist, once said We
declare our right on this earth to be a human being, to be respected as a human being, to be given
the rights of a human being in this society, on this earth, in this day, which we intend to bring
into existence by any means necessary. According to Malcolm X, everyone on the earth has a
right to be called a human being and fit into the category of a human being; no matter if they are
young, old, disabled or incompetent. Yet if we were to look back on our past and cannot seem to
count how many times these so called human beings have treated others who share the same
characteristics of human beings as lesser creatures. It becomes as if in order to have... Show more

On the other hand Factor X is saying that if we were to get rid of these secondary factorials, we
would be equal, however would it worth being equal by eliminating what makes us special. As we
begin to understand that Factor X is not perfect, we find that there will always be one group of
people that factor X seems to not include, which leads to the thinking are they not human beings
that have their own human rights. More importantly we then have to figure what is considered
basic human rights and how do we considered who gets them or at least who deserves their rights
more in certain situations. Figure 1. A simplify list of human rights created and accepted as an
international issue after the Second World War And for that simple reason are we going to say
people who are disabled, terminally ill or an unborn fetus does not have the right to be included
in to factor X or the potential to have human rights. The question then becomes how are we going
to amend Factor X to include this group of people without excluding another group by
accidentally using their political/social rights or characteristics in society to say that they are not
competent enough to posses Factor X. Skin color, looks , social class and wealth, gender, cultural
background, and even one s natural talents are all accidents of birth relegated to the class of

Growing Up Narrative
We hesitated, honestly, realizing the shared feelings held made us different... Yet, we still jumped.
Faye was different than others. She insisted on staying icy , with the world seen clearly and head
spins exhilarating. It seemed like a switch in personalities through milliseconds making our
photographic, flowerdness, and stormy lives more interesting than life should ve ever been.
Photography is a passion we shared closer to our hearts then our own safety. Her and I fell in love

There was a tree on the edge of the water that had a branch just high enough to jump off of where it
s safe and still feel the adrenaline pumping through your veins. It took over 5 minutes to swim to
the other side and by then Faye had wanted something that would make her mind icy for longer than
just a couple minutes. Two girls sitting underneath a tree talking about traveling the world
together, dreaming of the perfect twin brothers to come along by the age of 25, and sharing our
feelings of difference from the world was routine. Yet, something was off... I didn t know what but
it definitely wasn t the night for after dark parties or adrenaline rushes. The third fight was our
last. The thought of her starting a fire across her skin before jumping in the ice cold lake left a
feeling I couldn t explain. Jumping from the tree into the lake helped, I knew it did, but I couldn
t let her jump tonight... She d do it alone and I d never let her spark adrenaline dangerously by
herself. Sisters fight, it s a natural instinct. Except you never leave your baby sister behind when
it s dangerous outside, no matter how mad you are. I did. Millions of cars searched the streets

burn marks and cuts across our skin marked our stupidity, everyone knew. There s a reason why

Essay On China s Emergence As A Global Power
China s emergence as a global power has coincided with a somewhat heavy handed foreign policy
towards its neighbors. Internal disputes have included a political crisis in Hong Kong over the right
to vote, minority oppression in Inner Mongolia, and unhealthy air quality. China s rise has changed
the Asian power dynamic. Chinese foreign policy towards North Korea, protective in nature, has
drawn criticism. Worried about instability in Korea driving untrained refugees into China, its
leadership opposes any transformative actions in the region. China s policy towards Japan
increasingly features hostile rhetoric, as the two countries struggle for influence in the region.

International Law does not support China s claims. The principle of effective occupation was
established by the Permanent Court of Arbitration in the Island of Palmas in 1928. Effective
occupation entails an ability and intention to exercise continuous and uninterrupted jurisdiction,
which is distinguished from conquest. China has occupied the Paracel Islands, an archipelago of
thirty islands between China and Vietnam, but it has not occupied the Spratly Islands, an
archipelago off the coasts of the Philippines and Malaysia. It once occupied nine islands between
1988 and 1992, but the islands are now occupied by various other claimants. China s claims are
also disputed by the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. Under UNCLOS, claims to
resources are based on exclusive economic zones and continental shelves. China s claims far surpass
its exclusive economic zones and continental shelves, overlapping with the legal claims of other
ASEAN states. China s claims rely on historical interests, which carries no weight under
international law.
Another problem stems from the natural resource potential of the sea. Estimations of oil in the
region present varied statistics, but everyone agrees that the area has oil. According to the
Ministry of Geological Resources and Mining of the People s Republic of China, the sea may
contain 17.7 billion tons of crude oil. The United States Energy Information Administration

Leadership Is Influencing And Motivating Others Through...
Leadership is influencing and motivating others through inspiration, personal dedication to setting
the example and followership while providing a clear vision for success. I often see true
leadership in the way a person chooses to live his or her life. As a young man my elders raised and
mentored me in many aspects including how to seek further enrichment of my personal leadership
characteristics. During my Coast Guard career, I have appreciated many leaders who inspired me
to reach high and settle for nothing less than exceptional. If I were to name one man who
exemplified leadership, it would be Rear Admiral David Throop. I first met Admiral
Throop during a Standardization (STAN) Team visit in Traverse City, MI. Part of the STAN
Team s assessment was an all AST shop physical test and that morning, Captain Throop was
waiting in the shop ready to participate. It was truly inspiring to see him stand next to his Rescue
Swimmers and perform to the expected standard. Years later while stationed on Cape Cod,
Admiral Throop was my commanding officer. I remember his change of command speech and
the conviction he displayed in every word he spoke. His vivid personality and demeanor drew
people to him and his dedication to our core values was evident daily. He remembered the name of
every member and their family and would walk the hanger decks regularly and speak with those in
his command. His compassion for his people was evident even when accountability was required

Indigenous People In The 1500s
The indigenous have been mistreated by the Europeans since the 1500 s, from the cod fishing to
the fur trading. The indigenous were kidnapped by the Europeans, forced to change cultures, and
used for the European benefits. The indigenous life was not one of joy, but of sadness, and torture.
In the 1500 s, the Beothuk peoples encountered Europeans for the first time, when they first came to
fish cod, but they didn t establish a trading partnership. It wasn t until the early 1800 s when the
Europeans took action and captured Beothuk peoples, Shawnadithit, her mother, and her sister, and
took them back to Europe. Shawnadithit s mother and sister died in Europe from European
diseases. Later on, the Europeans took Shawnadithit back to her point of capture, she then caught
tuberculosis and died in 1829, she was the last known Beothuk person alive. If the Europeans hadn

There is a reason why blacks are quicker to be arrested then whites, or why white neighborhoods
look nicer then black neighborhoods, or why blacks are accused of crimes more than whites.
Most people will think it is the way of the world. Racial discrimination will always exist in
America. It doesn t need to be this way. Our government does not care enough about the black
people and it clearly shown. There should be a law against police just arresting blacks for no
reason. They should have their neighborhoods fixed up too. It shouldn t be legal to just be able
to accuse a black person of a crime because he happened to be standing there. There are so many
more examples of this and it just shows how are government thinks impartially too and doesn t
believe the black people are important or worth their time. Richard Hughes was very bothered by
this and he did a study with his students to show them how blacks are treated unfairly. They
analyzed crimes and arrests of black people in the past few months. The looked at how much less
money the government puts into black housing then whites. The sources include historical and
recent statistics on race, wealth, and housing; a 1937 photograph by Margaret Bourke White
juxtaposing African Americanflood victims and a billboard proclaiming, There s No Way Like the
American Way (Hughes139). The students after doing this all got the point and all felt the same
way as the teacher. a broader sense of racial discrimination, one student wrote, Even after their
emancipation after the Civil War, African Americans have faced many forces preventing them from
living the „American Dream‟ (139). He felt the importance of his students going into the
world after school, understanding this and maybe trying to get the government to handle this issue.

Many people were very frustrated at the fact that it was not fair for the working class that

Vampire Subcultures
There are many subcultures in the United States that are strange to me that some people think are
completely normal. A subculture is a cultural group within a larger culture that has the same
interests, beliefs, behaviors, or religion. Subcultures varies from things like southern food culture,
to things like bodybuilding. The strangest subcultures to me are the vampires, and the bronies.
There were some more in mind, but these are the two that stood out the most to me.
Strangely enough, vampires are already in people s imagination. Now they have a cultural group
just for their imagination. I m not trying to seem disrespectful to the vampire subculture, but it s
honestly strange that they think they are real vampires. This lifestyle formed in the western culture,
stemming from horror films, and overall styles of Victorian England. The vampire subculture is just
like any other system of beliefs. They commit themselves to this lifestyle and participate in rituals.
Continually, vampires dress themselves in gothic clothing with dark eye shadow, and black nail

Gliomedin
Within a neuron, neurofascin is bound ankyrin G, which is bound to Na+ channels. Somehow, the
binding of neurofascin (expressed by axon) to gliomedin (expressed by the Schwann cell) is
involved in the formation of nodes of Ranvier. Gliomedin is only expressed when the Schwann cell
is in physical contact with the axon. Therefore, for the formation of nodes of Ranvier, three things
must occur. First, the Schwann cellmust make physical contact with the axon. Then, it must express
gliomedin. Finally, gliomedin must form a complex with neurofascin (expressed by the axon). This
was determined through a set of experiments. To determine if sodium channel clustering depended
on glial cells, hippocampal cells were cultured in the absence of glial cells. This experiment showed
that, in the absence of glial cells, Na+ channels were found along the entire length of the axon. They
were not concentrated in clusters. Then, another experiment was conducted to determine if the
node of Ranvier formation was contact dependent. In this experiment, the dorsal root ganglia were
bathed in the extracellular fluid of Schwann cells. Again, nodes of Ranvier did not form. This
showed that the node of Ranvier formation mechanism was contact dependent. Another experiment
was done to determine if node of Ranvier formation depended on molecular signaling between the
Schwann cells and the axon. In this experiment, Schwann cells on a myelinated axon were killed.
The nodes of Ranvier disappeared. This showed that molecular signaling played a role in node of
Ranvier formation. Eventually, an experiment found that ankyrin G was concentrated at nodes of

American retailer Kohl s has become a prevalent fixture for the purchase of discounted clothing

has roots much more modest than present day market dominance would suggest. Dating back to a
Wisconsin supermarket in 1946, founder Max Kohl grew his small business to the most successful
chain of supermarkets in the Milwaukee area (12). By 1962 Kohl opened his first department store

Since its first public offering, Kohl s Corporation has shown steady growth and strong profits and
much of that is a result of exclusive and private brands, ability to embrace technological changes
and carefully adjusting its business model to changing customer expectations.
The launching of Kohls.com in 2001 has resulted in steady sales growth in the e commerce
portion of the company. To support the internet sales, a 940,000 square foot distribution center
was opened in 2001 and a second one was opened in 2010. As internet sales continued to increase
to more than 50% of its previous years sales, a third distribution plant has been acquired in

complete reality to those living under extreme poverty. According to research of the oxford
dictionary , poverty is the state of being extremely poor. My goal here is to inform you about the
main causes of poverty and what we can do here in Australia to help those in need. What are the
causes of poverty? There is no one cause for poverty across the world. However, there are many
components that contribute to poverty.
One of those includes overpopulation, imagine living in the same house with 20 other people.
There wouldn t be much space to do anything, countries such as China and India have such an
incredibly high population density that they don t have the necessities to look after everyone.
Overpopulation has a large impact to poverty, as it gives a rise to unemployment as there are
fewer jobs to support such a large amount of people. This then results in a rise in crime as people
are resorted to steal to simply feed for their family and the basic needs.
Another contribution to poverty is inadequate education and employment. Something we take for
granted in a developed country is the ability to have access to education. Many children in third
world counties have diminutive knowledge about

Oligopoly Essays
Oligopoly is a market structure in which only a few sellers offer similar or identical products. It is
an intermediate form of imperfect competition. OPEC is an epitome of Oligopoly.
Features of Oligopoly:
Non Price Competition
Interdependent decision making
Entry Barriers
If organizations behave in cooperative mode to mitigate the competitions amongst themselves it is
called Collusion. When two or more organizations agree to set their outputs or prices to maintain
monopoly it is called as collusive oligopoly.
OPEC acts as a cartel. If OPEC and other oil exporters did not compete, they could ensure much
higher prices for prices for everyone. Output quotas of its members produced staggering price
increases (from $1.10 to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On one hand domestic consumption was encouraged and production was discouraged resulted in
additional demand for oil from
OPEC and the United states inevitably became more dependent on imported oil during the 1970s.
Perfect Collusion Model:
OPEC recognized their interdependence decided to collaborate in the matter of pricing their
product (Oil). There will be one market demand function (AR MR) and many cost functions (AC
and MC) as the number of competing countries in the OPEC. So various MC curves can then be
summed up horizontally to get the combined MC (CMC). The point where CMC and MR curve
intersect gives the point of maximum profit output. AR curve will give the equilibrium price. The
distribution of industry output among countries would be obtained by equating MR=MC through a
horizontal straight line passing through the point of intersection between CMC and MR curves.
Below is the diagram of Homogeneous oligopoly pricing under perfect collusion:
OPEC output and prices are shown in last part (d) where CMC was obtained by horizontal sum
up of MC1 ,MC2 MC3 i.e. the marginal costs. AR and MR represent demand and corresponding
marginal revenue curves of the OPEC as a whole. OPEC output OQ is divided among the partner
countries as in diagram shown say three as Oq1, Oq2 Oq3. The sum of these outputs equal OPEC
output OQ by construction. Each of the country sells oil at an uniform price equal to OP which is
determined in diagram part (d).

____________________________ TOTAL: Abstract This paper analyzes the interaction
between the crude oil price and real GDP per capita in China. I find that both the crude oil price
and the real GDP per capita in China have overall rising trend from 1980 to 2014. I use granger

At the same time, fluctuation of the crude oil price has put pressure on the price level and
economic growth in China. In this research I ask: What is the interaction between crude oil price
and China s economy? A considerable amount of economic literature have analyzed the impact
of oil price on the GDP in developed countries. Such as Jimenez and Sanchez (2004) have studied
links between oil price and macro economy in several industrial OECD countries. They found
that oil price fluctuations have considerable effects on economic activities. We do not know the
interaction between the crude oil price and economy in China. China is interesting in this content
because it has large population which affects the demand for crude oil. Also, China s GDP is
growing rapidly, and the dependence on imported oil have increased in China, but only a few
studies have focused on China. In Ghalayini s study, by investigating the relationship between oil
price and economic growth, the researcher found that as economic growth increases the demand
for oil increases which pushes up the oil prices. While the increase in GDP growth and economic
activity have led to an increase in the energy demand, a feedback relationship exists which can
mitigate this effect (Ghalayini, 2011). In this research, I will use granger causality test and
regression models to study interaction between the crude oil price and GDP in China. There are
several alternative approaches,

Aristotle Chief Good Essay
In the book Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle, one of the most important figures in the philosophical
world, makes a claim about the chief good (Aristotle 4). In order to inform the reader of what life
the chief good resides in, Aristotle first attempts to describe why the chief good is not found in
certain lives. Throughout chapter five Aristotleclaims that the chief good cannot be attained in the
lives of enjoyment, honor, and wealth. This is evident through the consistent examples of he uses
throughout the text. One the chief good cannot be equal to those lives. Although a virtuous life
does attain the chief good . The first life Aristotle examines is the life of enjoyment. Before Aristotle
thoroughly goes into detail about why... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Again, before going into detail, he presents the reader with his argument that the life of honor
cannot attain the chief good . For example when Aristotle says honor...seems too shallow (6).
Aristotle then goes into more detail about why honor is so shallow. Aristotle argues that, they seem
to honor in order to convince themselves of their goodness (7). When Aristotle says that, he means
that those who are pursuing honor only perform righteous actions for the honor rather than for the
sake of performing the actions. This also goes back to the point Aristotle made when he was
talking about pleasure. Again claiming that the individuals are slaves to the pleasure of being
known as a virtuous individual. The individuals will continually perform acts just for the honor
instead of performing virtuous acts for the benefit of others. For these reasons, one can say that a
life of honor is shallow. Furthermore Aristotle explains his why the life of honor can t attain the
chief good when he says, since honor appears to depend more on those who honor (6). Moreover
Aristotle means that the chief good cannot be attained in a life that is completely reliant on external
factors. Additionally honor is dependent, because the honor should be bestowed to the individual
by those with wisdom. Though this is not easily attained, leading into a cycle of committing acts
without virtuous intent until they

Desecration of the American Dream in Glengarry Glen Ross
Glengarry Glen Ross portrays a harsh view of American business that not only contradicts, but also
befouls the values of the quot;American Dream. quot; The idealistic importance of fairness,
equality, and the idea that hard work brings success included in this quot;dream quot; of American
society is clearly not reality in this play. The values of work ethic, and equal opportunity are
betrayed, and there is a notable presence of racism, sexism, and an savage system of quot;dog eat

reputation as a quot;melting pot quot; for many races from all over the world all coming together.
However, this type of racial hatred makes the description of American society as a quot;salad bowl

generally hard working immigrants are criticized for their conservation in spending money.
The presence of sexism is more subtle, but nonetheless notable. There seems to be an assumed
connection between masculinity and selling ability. Shelly Levine attributes manager John
Williamson s inability to run an office and poor business ability to his lack of masculinity, saying,
quot;you don t have the balls quot; (p. 76). Richard Roma also attacks Williamson, calling him a

Levine also insults Williamson for his incompetence, saying that he quot;isn t man enough quot; to

Slopestyle Snowboarding
Imagine this: you re on the starting line, feet strapped firmly into boots on your snowboard. The

Slopestyle snowboarding has gained popularity as an Olympic sport, even if it is pretty young.
The lack of time the sport has been around doesn t mean it isn t well developed. It has a history,
and many people competing with a set scoring system and rules. Bored Americans who had way too
much time on their hands created snowboarding. In the decade of the 60s, snowboarding was born,

According to the Federation International de Ski (FIS), overall impression is the main scoring
method. Half a dozen judges score adversaries on the tricks they perform. Diversity,
implementation, and complexity of the tricks as well as landing in the sweet spot will all
impact the point total (McMahon). The more technically perfect a run is and the harder the
tricks performed will result in a higher score. Compared to some other Olympic sports,
snowboarding could be referred to as still a fledgling. However, the sport is becoming as trendy
as some of the older winter sports. I also find it slightly ironic that the FIS, a skiing organization,
scores snowboarding when it was skiers who were originally against the sport. People from all
nations score big by landing impressive tricks. The variation of nationalities that snowboarders
come from means that no matter where you come from, there is someone in this event you can
cheer for.

Vulnerability Assessment ( Va )
1.Introduction
Security is a standout amongst the most difficult and complex issue in Information Technology (IT)
today. Security causes millions of dollars loss to the different organizations every year. Even if
99% of all assaults result from known vulnerabilities and flawed misconfigurations, an answer is
most certainly not direct. With a crowd of networks, operating system and application related
vulnerabilities, security specialists are getting the opportunity to be logically aware of the need to
review and direct potential security dangers on their network and systems. This requires a more
effective and insightful way to deal with sustaining the project. Vulnerability Assessment (VA) is
the procedure of identifying, quantifying, measuring and organizing dangers connected with system
and host based network to reduce its risk to the system. Vulnerability Assessment (VA) tools permit
customization of security strategy, computerized examination of vulnerabilities, and formation of
reports that helps to discover security vulnerability.
Network around the world is connected through various hardware and application. Different types
of connections are used to connect network around the world. Many organizations and companies
are using different types of network connected to the internet to flourish their business related
activities. Network is mainly categorized into three forms: LAN, MAN and WAN. All these
network are connected together to make an entire huge network around

Paracetamol For Fight Fever And Pain
Introduction
Although paracetamol was used clinically for the first time by Joseph von Mering in 1883 and it
has been commercialized since 1953, its mechanism has not been discovered yet. However,
paracetamol is the most used drug to fight fever and pain currently due to its antipyretic and
analgesic properties. The aim of the experiment is the production of paracetamol by formation of an
amide bound between the amine group of p aminophenol and the carbonyl group of acetic
anhydride. Furthermore, drugs used in humans must pass Quality Control (QC) and Quality
Assurance (QA) in order to ensure the purity of the substance. In the current experiment, methods
such as melting point range analysis, Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) and NMR spectrometry
will be used in order to assess the purity level of the synthetized paracetamol.
Experimental Procedure
In part 1, around 1.5 g of p aminophenol was weighted and added into 100 mL Erlenmeyer flask
and then placed on a steam bath. While the flask was being heated, 1 mL of water: ethanol (1:1)
was added continuously until p aminophenol was dissolved. The flask was let to cool down at
room temperature until crystals started to form, then the flask was placed into an ice bath. The
compound was filtered using a vacuum filtration apparatus and a Buchner funnel until crystals
were dried. Formed compound was weighted and 10 g was kept for later use. Recrystallised p
aminophenol was placed into a 100 mL Erlenmeyer flask and 9 mL of water

Gender And Cultural Anthropology
It s incredible to discover humanity s evolution overtime. How cultures have developed and
impacted society. Both the social and applied aspects of cultural anthropology seek to discover
humanity s cultural origins and progression, in addition to resolving global issues. Looking at how
sex and gender influences culture, how art provides insight into cultures beliefs, and how global
problems can be improved or possibly resolved with the applied science of anthropologycan perhaps
sustain humanity s future and acceptance of cultural differences.
A social aspect of anthropology is the observation of cultures and how their characteristics are
influenced by the biological and implied roles between genders. Physical differences between
men and women would seem to dictate that men are designed for hard labor and protectors
while women s physicality makes them suitable for child bearing and natural nurturers. It seems
the advancement of cultural societies also plays a role in how gender roles are defined and
interpreted. Ember maintains, Less complex societies, however, seem to approach more equal

Socrates Impiety Analysis
Athenian citizens, I implore you to understand Socrates guilt within the matter of impiety. Impiety
is lacking respect for a god or gods. Actions or words that go against the status quo of religious
activity would certainly fall under the category of impious behavior. This includes the unnamed
divine voice within Socrateshead. Those that accused him may not have done so for the right
reasons, but it does nothing to prove he is innocent of impiety. One relevant argument Socrates
makes quite well is the fact that those bringing charges against him clearly dislike his character and
actions. Socrates openly dissenting with political figureheads such as Meletus and Anytus which
spurred their disdain for him. He uses this as a ploy to help his jury find him innocent. Though he
is correct in asserting the charges against him are brought because his enemies want to see him
dealt with, he is not correct in assuming they are inherently wrong in... Show more content on

Delphi s oracle conveyed to Chaerephon (who passed the words on to his brother) that, ... no one
was wiser [than Socrates] (Plato, The Apology, В§21a). Socrates makes no mention of the oracle
asking him to take action, though he launches his own investigation. Though this is not enough
to call Socrates impious, Socrates then goes on to lie about the god asking him to take action.
Socrates says that, ... in my investigation in the service of the god I found that those who had the
highest reputation were nearly the most deficient, while those who were thought to be inferior
were more knowledgeable (Plato, The Apology, В§22a). This I would argue is an impious action.
Lying about what a god tells you to do, or in this case not to do, is not a pious action. It goes
against showing the respect a god deserves by fabricating what the god wants from its subject
because it fits what the subject

The Catalyst Archetype
With an even shorter arc than The Loyalist, The Catalyst inhibits the protagonist s Two Face
nature before disappearing and requesting something from the protagonist. The Catalyst is almost
always present whenever a Two Face archetype is present in a story, but cannot exist without the
Two Face. In Doki Doki Literature Club, the Catalyst is the protagonist s childhood friend, Sayori,
who eventually hangs herself. In The Picture of Dorian Gray, the Catalyst is Sybil Vane, who
eventually ingests poison and dies. For the plot to progress, The Catalyst must somehow disappear
from the story, though they might disappear in different ways or for different reasons. Both Sayori

A similarity between Sybil and Sayori is, before their death, both characters beg something from
the Two Face. Sybil begs Dorian Gray to give her another chance to act well if he does not leave
her. Sayori asks for the player to care for the other girls in the club and not care for her. The
archetype of The Catalyst slowly loses power over The Two Face, making the archetype appealing
to audiences and a good foundation for writers as a starting point for stories; however, the character
exhibiting the archetype must not remain in the story for too long else risking the piece boring the
audience. For Sayori and Sybil, their demise is their suicide, after believing the reaction from The
Player and Dorian is a punishment. Sybil s punishment is from disappointing Dorian with her bad
acting and Sayori s punishment is from sharing her depression and the player wanting to show
affection towards Sayori. While the circumstances of The Catalyst s punishment changes, the
ending result of the Catalyst s death drives the protagonist to develop their Two Face

Dante was a man with a vision. He lived in a world that was Torn by discord (Limentani,117).
Born in 1265, Dante s Florence was the center of a war ravaged Italy. He became involved in
politics at a young age and before too long became a White Guelph, one who supported the
Papacy in the fight against invading Germanic kings. 1301 was a tragic year because it marked
the beginning of the Black Guelph regime and saw Dante exiled from his home town forever.
These experiences made Dante quickly realize that this world is corrupt to the core. Greed for
material things is the main fault, greed which is allowed to dictate the actions of men. Only a
cessation of strife, the establishment of universal peace can ensure the happiness of mankind and
allow men to pursue the ultimate aim for which God has destined them on earth, that of exercising
constantly and to the full their distinctive quality, the Virtus Intellective (virtuous intellect)
(Limentani,117). He believed that all life on this earth has a purpose and meaning to it. This can
be seen in the Inferno because during the long trek through Hell Dante does almost nothing but
work to arrive a Paradise, the heavenly end to all those lacking wickedness. He traveled far trying
to make his life purposeful by working his way up to Heaven. Chaucer stood in contrast to Dante s
almost dogmatic piety and looked to other things as having

Gun Assault Shootings
More and more often, we are saddened by the news of mass shootings. Whether it takes place in a
school or public area, these shootings are both disastrous and mortifying. Families begin to feel
anger and sadness and demand immediate justice. Although these terrible events continue to
happen, there have been no significant steps taken towards the decrease in the number of
weapons; specifically, assault rifles. This leads one to question do we need to ban the right to own
such weapons? If the possession of these weapons is not made illegal, we run the risk of another
attack. A ban on assault rifles is not the answer because they are not the cause of such events, and it
is a constitutional right to own them.
In 1994, Congress passed the Federal Assault Weapons Banwhich eliminated the manufacturing of
certain assault rifles for private use (Plumer). This bill expired in 2004 and was never redrafted.
Many mass shootings in the last few years, especially ones at Virginia Tech, a movie theater in
Colorado, and Sandy Hook elementary school in Connecticut, Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Harvest
Music Festival in Las Vegas, First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs have stirred up the
pressure to pass a new bill.
Following the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, California Senator, Dianne
Feinstein, drafted a bill to potentially ban the sale, transfer, manufacturing, and importation of
assault rifles. This bill includes a ban on semiautomatic rifles, pistols, shotguns,

  • 2. The Current State Of International Politics In this paper I will argue that the current state of international politics is characterized more by cooperation then conflict, and the international politics today is more cooperative then it was in previous eras of international relations. The change in behavior is a result of increased participation in formal international institutions, and the growing interconnectedness of societies as a result of globalization. The shift in international relationsfrom conflictual to cooperative behavior can be seen in international security, monetary relations, and the environment, as states, combined with new non state actors have begun to utilize formal institutions to generate solutions to international tribulations. INTERNATIONAL SECURITY The anarchic nature of international politics creates insecurity for states at the international level, forcing states to develop institutions to create their own security. Throughout history, actors have developed various approaches to mitigate the anarchy of international politics, such as arms build up, alliances, and hegemonic balances of power. While these systems may offer some cooperation, given the multipolar nature of the world today and the increase in security threats from non state, transnational actors, our current system of collective security institutions has created a new era cooperation in international security. This is almost an inverse of a relational model. The names of the column need not be predefined, i.e. the structure isn t fixed, which helps in great scalability and performance. Police Accountability Essay This essay will describe the mechanisms by which the British Police are held to account, and will touch upon the paradox of police governance, the balance of unwanted coercion of police, financial stewardship and police legitimacy. This essay will also divulge into a discussion on the topic; is policing political? There will be an argument for and against, and the advantages and disadvantages to both sides will be conversed to achieve an accurate conclusion. In addition this essay will start by portraying the significance of PoliceAccountability. Police Accountability in both England and Wales, became a national political issue throughout the 1980 s, the issues mainly alarmed those who had power over the police, who ought to manage them and whether they were beyond democratic control. However, in recent years these issues have lost some of their debate and accountability now focus on police effectiveness and police performance. The police are to follow the rule of law and legislation (legislation is where powers of police are derived) and are subordinated to the law. Police also have allegiance to the crown, which serves as an alternative to the state, as a central organizing principle of government. The Breakfast Club Essay The Breakfast Club, released in 1985 by director John Hughes, is a film about five high school students, from different social groups, and their bond over shared worries and issues in Saturday morning detention. These students show the two main issues of high school students: peer pressure and family issues. The film examines the effects of these issues on student s everyday life and view on the world. Brian is pressured by his friends to be smart. Although Bender believes that he is outside of social norms, he conforms to them just like everyone and is pressured to be above it all and lax. John Hughes wanted all teens to know that although everyone has problems, and in moving past our apparent differences, we can bond. Each character is a representative of the various social hierarchies in a high school setting and although each of their problems are specific to their individual lifestyle, they all overarch and connect with the others. A famous scene of The Breakfast Club is the floor sharing scene, when all of the pretense is stripped away and all that is left are five scared high schoolers wanting to be better in life. • 8. Tom Brennan Social Justice Quotes The concept of social justice is based of human rights and equality, this is the way people are treated in everyday life. The text I am currently studying is The story of Tom Brennan and I am seeing how this has some aspects of social justice like alcohol abuse and property vandalism. The story of Tom Brennan is a book about a nineteen year old boy named Tom Brennan who has his life turned upside down because of a car crash that resulted in two deaths and one paralyzed. One example of social justice in this book is the fact that Daniel was under the influence of alcohol whilst driving, thus causing the car crash which affected the whole town and making the town angry against the Brennan family, my second example is the fact that there was alcohol at the rugby after party, but I personally believe it is one hundred percent ok with alcohol at the party, it just has to be their responsibility that they have designated drivers to get others home safely. There is also alcohol itself, that is the main cause of the car accident itself and that too just needs a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 9. The Power Of Louisa May Alcott As stated by intellectual Joseph Wong, influence is our inner ability to lift people up to our perspectives (Young Ch. 6). Throughout history, numerous writers have utilized their ability to impact their readers to encourage their audience to follow the author s principles and beliefs. Louisa May Alcott, born in Pennsylvania in 1832, was the type of writer to use her power to influence her lectors views on the topics and issues that she was passionate about. Alcott s father, Amos Bronson Alcott, was a writer, lecturer, and educator, and her mother, Abba May, was a strong willed and independent woman and bright educator. Her brilliant parents helped Alcott grow to be an intellectual, an independent female, and, as mentioned by Clark Moreland in one of his lectures, ...a dark headed, volatile, and energetic child ( Lecture 3.4... ). After her parents fell into deep debt, Alcott began to work to support her family. She served as a seamstress, teacher, and, of course, a writer. As an open minded individual, Alcott was an advocate of many causes and policies, and, through her compositions, she shared her beliefs to guide her readers towards integrating her ideals into their lives. For instance, in 1863, Alcott released her work My Contraband, first titled The Brothers. The piece featured a Civil War nurse, Faith Dane, in the Union side who was in charge of caring for a captured, dying Confederate captain and had a mulatto contraband, a slave who escaped to the Union side, ... • 13. Essay The Abortion Arguments of Cider House Rules The Abortion Arguments of Cider House Rules I am writing this essay on a Saturday evening, not with any real contemplation, or even planning. I am writing this because I was just minutes ago watching the movie Cider House Rules. I won t go into the plot of the movie, but, to explain my motivation for writing this, I will simply describe one portion of the movie. The scene at issue in my mind right now is one where a fourteen year old girl comes to the orphanage which is the setting for part of the movie. This girl came to the orphanage because it was known in the region as a place that performed abortions. She had had a crude abortion performed in such a way that she had been severely injured (her uterus was punctured by a crochet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the movie, Homer is an orphan, and this may provide an interesting perspective in regards to the status of the fetus. As an unwanted child himself, he empathizes with the unborn children that he refuses to destroy. So far, all we have talked about really is the emotion of the question of abortion. The purpose of this essay (which will not be very long), is to examine these lines of reasoning, and to come to some conclusion about the differing philosophies of these two characters. The doctor s argument is, as I mentioned, very much a utilitarian one, and as you know, this sort of argument doesn t sit well with me (see my Truth essays). Regardless of my perspective, though, the doctor s first argument is one which many people (including some that I greatly respect) accept as a good reason for legalized abortion. The doctor is making the very simple assessment that one death is preferable to two. If the mother dies along with the baby, this is a waste and a shame, therefore he feels as though he is obligated to perform an abortion that will not likely harm the young woman at issue. Homer, on the other hand, takes a deontological stance he believes that his performing an abortion is wrong, and that is as far as his reasoning has to go. So far, the choice between philosophies is simple deontology or utilitarianism. In order to make the choice a bit more relevant, allow me to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a result of this, Claudia learns numerous lessons from her experience with the citizens of Lorain. Because he is angry and hurt by this, he abuses his mother s cat who receives all the affection he would like to have from Geraldine. Another example of the failure of adults is seen in Pauline Breedlove. Just as Geraldine focuses more on her desires than her child, so does Pauline in ways that also drift her away from her family. Mrs. Breedlove is a black woman who dreams she can somehow make her family appreciate her but after Pauline figures that she could not, she finds meaning in romantic movies and the Fisher Family the white family she works for. Ill slather you in butter, I ll eat you up a lot... , I sang to my mother as she slowly pulled the crab pot up with her thick, black rubber gloves to protect against the deep red jellyfish that strike with their long tentacles without notice. She pulled the line gently, making sure not to disrupt the structure of the pot and release the delicious bottom feeders we captured that morning. As the pot neared the surface, my siblings and I reached our little heads over the side of the canoe. The wooden canoe rocked back and forth from our weight, making us all scream in sync because we were scared of the dark, cold water of the sound that sweeps children away with ease. The water is an abyss to us; full of deep sea creatures that we have never encountered. We quivered at the thought of the sharks that slowly make their way through the water, searching for the leftover seals that the orcas left behind when they migrated through these waters. We fear these waters, but we respect them like the generations before us. We never take more than we need, and we always give back. Even as young children, we are careful to take care of this delicate system and learn from it. Total Quality Management (TQM) theory grew out of existing organizational management theories, in part, as a response to the problems in those theories. • 37. Gliomedin Within a neuron, neurofascin is bound ankyrin G, which is bound to Na+ channels. Somehow, the binding of neurofascin (expressed by axon) to gliomedin (expressed by the Schwann cell) is involved in the formation of nodes of Ranvier. Gliomedin is only expressed when the Schwann cell is in physical contact with the axon. Therefore, for the formation of nodes of Ranvier, three things must occur. First, the Schwann cellmust make physical contact with the axon. Then, it must express gliomedin. Finally, gliomedin must form a complex with neurofascin (expressed by the axon). This was determined through a set of experiments. To determine if sodium channel clustering depended on glial cells, hippocampal cells were cultured in the absence of glial cells. This experiment showed that, in the absence of glial cells, Na+ channels were found along the entire length of the axon. They were not concentrated in clusters. Then, another experiment was conducted to determine if the node of Ranvier formation was contact dependent. In this experiment, the dorsal root ganglia were bathed in the extracellular fluid of Schwann cells. Again, nodes of Ranvier did not form. This showed that the node of Ranvier formation mechanism was contact dependent. Another experiment was done to determine if node of Ranvier formation depended on molecular signaling between the Schwann cells and the axon. In this experiment, Schwann cells on a myelinated axon were killed. The nodes of Ranvier disappeared. This showed that molecular signaling played a role in node of Ranvier formation. How to Help Australians in Poverty Do any of you wake up one morning and not know if you re going to be able to have a decent meal for the whole day? or not being able to have a shower and brush your teeth? What even being able to drink clean water? These questions may seem extreme or over the top, but it is a complete reality to those living under extreme poverty. According to research of the oxford dictionary , poverty is the state of being extremely poor. My goal here is to inform you about the main causes of poverty and what we can do here in Australia to help those in need. What are the causes of poverty? There is no one cause for poverty across the world. However, there are many components that contribute to poverty. One of those includes overpopulation, imagine living in the same house with 20 other people. There wouldn t be much space to do anything, countries such as China and India have such an incredibly high population density that they don t have the necessities to look after everyone. Overpopulation has a large impact to poverty, as it gives a rise to unemployment as there are fewer jobs to support such a large amount of people. This then results in a rise in crime as people are resorted to steal to simply feed for their family and the basic needs. Another contribution to poverty is inadequate education and employment. Something we take for granted in a developed country is the ability to have access to education. Many children in third world counties have diminutive knowledge about ... At the same time, fluctuation of the crude oil price has put pressure on the price level and economic growth in China. In this research I ask: What is the interaction between crude oil price and China s economy? A considerable amount of economic literature have analyzed the impact of oil price on the GDP in developed countries. Such as Jimenez and Sanchez (2004) have studied links between oil price and macro economy in several industrial OECD countries. They found that oil price fluctuations have considerable effects on economic activities. We do not know the interaction between the crude oil price and economy in China. China is interesting in this content because it has large population which affects the demand for crude oil. Also, China s GDP is growing rapidly, and the dependence on imported oil have increased in China, but only a few studies have focused on China. In Ghalayini s study, by investigating the relationship between oil price and economic growth, the researcher found that as economic growth increases the demand for oil increases which pushes up the oil prices. While the increase in GDP growth and economic activity have led to an increase in the energy demand, a feedback relationship exists which can mitigate this effect (Ghalayini, 2011). In this research, I will use granger causality test and regression models to study interaction between the crude oil price and GDP in China. There are several alternative approaches, ... When Aristotle says that, he means that those who are pursuing honor only perform righteous actions for the honor rather than for the sake of performing the actions. This also goes back to the point Aristotle made when he was talking about pleasure. Again claiming that the individuals are slaves to the pleasure of being known as a virtuous individual. The individuals will continually perform acts just for the honor instead of performing virtuous acts for the benefit of others. For these reasons, one can say that a life of honor is shallow. Furthermore Aristotle explains his why the life of honor can t attain the chief good when he says, since honor appears to depend more on those who honor (6). Moreover Aristotle means that the chief good cannot be attained in a life that is completely reliant on external factors. Additionally honor is dependent, because the honor should be bestowed to the individual by those with wisdom. The archetype of The Catalyst slowly loses power over The Two Face, making the archetype appealing to audiences and a good foundation for writers as a starting point for stories; however, the character exhibiting the archetype must not remain in the story for too long else risking the piece boring the audience. For Sayori and Sybil, their demise is their suicide, after believing the reaction from The Player and Dorian is a punishment. Sybil s punishment is from disappointing Dorian with her bad acting and Sayori s punishment is from sharing her depression and the player wanting to show affection towards Sayori. While the circumstances of The Catalyst s punishment changes, the ending result of the Catalyst s death drives the protagonist to develop their Two Face ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Good and Evil in Dante’s Divine Comedy and Chaucer’s The... Good and evil are concocted differently in every imagination. To some, evil is the most appalling sins, including such heinous acts such as murder, rape, distortion, or betrayal. To others, evil might be something so simple as indecisiveness, extravagance, or vain glory. Goodness is ambiguous to mankind as well because one man might define goodness as the ordinary man living a free life, yet another might conclude that true goodness is obtainable only through a perfect, honorable lifestyle, completely abstaining from worldly endeavors. One s attitude at good and evilwill predetermine their values, actions, and points of interest. Whether life is spent pursuing heavenly goals or the applying oneself to his or her life, their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dante was a man with a vision. He lived in a world that was Torn by discord (Limentani,117). Born in 1265, Dante s Florence was the center of a war ravaged Italy. He became involved in politics at a young age and before too long became a White Guelph, one who supported the Papacy in the fight against invading Germanic kings. 1301 was a tragic year because it marked the beginning of the Black Guelph regime and saw Dante exiled from his home town forever. These experiences made Dante quickly realize that this world is corrupt to the core. Greed for material things is the main fault, greed which is allowed to dictate the actions of men. Only a cessation of strife, the establishment of universal peace can ensure the happiness of mankind and allow men to pursue the ultimate aim for which God has destined them on earth, that of exercising constantly and to the full their distinctive quality, the Virtus Intellective (virtuous intellect) (Limentani,117). He believed that all life on this earth has a purpose and meaning to it. This can be seen in the Inferno because during the long trek through Hell Dante does almost nothing but work to arrive a Paradise, the heavenly end to all those lacking wickedness. He traveled far trying to make his life purposeful by working his way up to Heaven. Chaucer stood in contrast to Dante s almost dogmatic piety and looked to other things as having ... One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich describes the daily routine that Ivan Denisovich Shukhov, an inmate in a labor camp, goes through for eight years to fulfill his sentence. In One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, we see the idea of a labor camp obviously show up constantly, since the main character and everyone in that case is in one. In conclusion, both the film and the novel have their similarities and differences. They might be quite hard to spot immediately if one has not read the novel, or has a bit of information on Soviet Russia. If you have read the novel, you can tie many things back to the film, but you will notice how both of them can relate somehow but not fully to the point where you can say that both give out the same ... • 53. Gun Assault Shootings More and more often, we are saddened by the news of mass shootings. Whether it takes place in a school or public area, these shootings are both disastrous and mortifying. Families begin to feel anger and sadness and demand immediate justice. Although these terrible events continue to happen, there have been no significant steps taken towards the decrease in the number of weapons; specifically, assault rifles. This leads one to question do we need to ban the right to own such weapons? If the possession of these weapons is not made illegal, we run the risk of another attack. A ban on assault rifles is not the answer because they are not the cause of such events, and it is a constitutional right to own them. In 1994, Congress passed the Federal Assault Weapons Banwhich eliminated the manufacturing of certain assault rifles for private use (Plumer). This bill expired in 2004 and was never redrafted. Many mass shootings in the last few years, especially ones at Virginia Tech, a movie theater in Colorado, and Sandy Hook elementary school in Connecticut, Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Harvest Music Festival in Las Vegas, First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs have stirred up the pressure to pass a new bill. Following the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, California Senator, Dianne Feinstein, drafted a bill to potentially ban the sale, transfer, manufacturing, and importation of assault rifles. This bill includes a ban on semiautomatic rifles, pistols, shotguns, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
