drilling, including wellhead systems, BOPs, risers, and

He was born and raised in Nijmegen in the Neth-
erlands and holds an MSc in Drilling Engineering
from the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen
and has over 39 years of oilfield experience.
He started in the industry back in 1977 ini�ally as
a Mud logger before becoming a wellsite drilling
engineer in 1980 and working mainly in the
Middle East and West Africa. In 1988, he joined
Shell in in the Southern North Sea as Drilling
Opera�ons engineer.
He was drilling adviser with Schlumberger with a
focus on well control, relief well planning and
MPD. During that �me, In 2015, he joined Wild
Well as their well control engineering manager in
Asia and in Feb 2017 became a well engineering
consultant concentra�ng on provision of well
engineering training.
He was an SPE Dis�nguished Lecturer back in
2000 and has authored and presented numerous
papers and authored several chapters in SPE
Advanced Technology books and has been an
ac�ve commi�ee member, co-chair and speaker
on numerous SPE Workshops and forums around
the world.
