Interracial Marriage Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of interracial marriage presents a multifaceted challenge. Firstly,
delving into the intricacies of interracial relationships demands a nuanced understanding of
cultural, historical, and societal contexts. One must navigate through complex issues such as
racial prejudice, cultural identity, and societal acceptance with sensitivity and empathy.
Researching the topic involves sifting through a plethora of academic studies, sociological
analyses, and personal narratives to grasp the various perspectives and experiences surrounding
interracial unions. Analyzing statistical data, historical trends, and legal frameworks adds layers
of complexity to the research process.
Moreover, composing an interracial marriage essay requires careful consideration of language and
tone to avoid inadvertently perpetuating stereotypes or marginalizing certain viewpoints.
Balancing objectivity with empathy is essential when discussing sensitive topics like race and
relationships.
Furthermore, crafting a compelling argument or thesis necessitates synthesizing diverse
perspectives while maintaining coherence and clarity. Addressing counterarguments and
acknowledging the complexity of the issue enhances the essay's depth and credibility.
In conclusion, writing an essay on interracial marriage demands intellectual rigor, cultural
sensitivity, and ethical discernment. It involves navigating through layers of historical, social,
and personal complexities to offer insights that are both insightful and respectful of diverse
experiences and viewpoints.

Why Did Napoleon Die In Animal Farm
Two years later Napoleon conquered Pilkington and Fredrick s farm. The humans on
the farms were treated like the animals and starving to death. The animals that were
working on the farm have left because they no longer wanted to live under Napoleon
s rule, or died from starvation and cruelty. Napoleon is mad because the animalsare
gone, the humans are dying and no work is getting done on the farm. Since no one
was working and Napoleon was starving he ordered the dogs to kill Squealer for
food. Napoleon had turned to cannibalism.
The word of Napoleon killing Squealer spread quickly and the animals that escaped
were terrified that Napoleon was coming after them. Napoleon eventually ran out
of food and is down to his last bottle of whiskey. He decided to venture out and find
the animals. He walked around on what was Pilkington s farm. It was destroyed
and over grown with weeds. Napoleon and his dogs searched Pilkington s farm all
day and were not able find a trace of the animals that ran away. Napoleon was
becoming frustrated at the dogs for not being able to catch the animals scent.

They couldn t believe it. They never thought the day would come. The animals
could finally live in peace. They could finally fix the farm the way Old Major and
the other farm animals wanted it to be. They went back to the farm they once lived
at and saw how bad it had gotten. The windows on the house were all shattered and
all of the doors were gone. The barn was discolored and pieces of the roof were gone.
The walls of the barn needed to be replaced. Everything was dead and rotting. The
animals knew it was going to be hard to fix the farm and grow food. They knew
they were going to have to work long and hard to fix the damage that was done to the
Cindy Sherman Research Paper
The two portrait photographers, Cindy Sherman and JR have different approaches to
photography. Cindy Sherman is a historical portrait photographer, while JR is a
contemporary portrait photographer and active as of now. These artists have unique
aesthetics and techniques used to capture images and distinguish themselves. Not
only that but, their methods and interpretation on photographyare complete foils of
one another.
Each individual photographer has their own visions of art, and this stands true for
Cindy Sherman and JR. Growing up, JR had a passion for graffiti but who would

In her most famous photograph Untitled Film Still #21 she produced an

There is very little negative space, in addition, the subject is placed near the lower

Playstation 4 Vs The X Box
The release of the next generation gaming consoles has left the gaming industry is
in frenzy. With so much demand for the consoles it feels as though people are
ready to give away their legs to get either the PlayStation 4 or the X Box One. With
two of these monstrous gaming devices available, the decision to just choose just
one console seems to be, for some, a life and death decision. Many people, as a
result of not conducting the proper research, fail to realize how easy of a decision
this is. In this much anticipated console race, the PlayStation 4 has a clear advantage
over the X box One and as a result, it is the console that consumers should look to
buy.
Firstly, one must look at the hardware specification for both these consoles. Although
both the X Box One and the PS4 include intricate graphic processing units, the
PlayStation 4 has a GPU that is 50% more powerful than the Xbox One (Anthony).
This will allow gamers to experience a more stunning and realistic gaming
experience and will permit the game developers to produce games that are superior
in quality. In addition, the PS4 and the X Box One have similar random access
memory or RAM, speeds but the distinction is in complexity, and this allows
PlayStation 4 s RAM to run a memory bandwidth of roughly 176GB per second,
while the Xbox One gets by with bandwidth of around 68.26GB per second
(Cunningham). With the colossal advantage in RAM the PlayStation 4 is able to run
heavier programs and games more

Assignment #7
Short Answer
1.Describe the governor s military and police powers. Pg 872
1. The governor has several military and police powers. Firstly, the governor is the
commander in chief of the state s National Guard units when they are not under
presidential orders. On top of that, the governor s military power allows them to
declare martial law, which suspends most civil authority and imposes military rule
over an area. The police powers of the governor allow them to appoint a three
member Public Safety Commission that directs the work of the Department of Public
Safety with Senate approval. Adding to that, the last police power that the governor

Time Is Essential Everyday Life
Today people make schedules to help organize their time and complete each task
they must accomplish. For me, time is essential in everyday life. It provides a
natural schedule that tells me when to wake up, go to sleep, eat, or any other plan for
the day. Social interactions and institutions carve out certain parts of my timethat I
learn to adjust to. School, church, clubs, and friends are a few things that are
responsible for molding my schedule each day. Over the years, people have
transformed from becoming occupied to being in a rush. Every day is basically a
clock to see how many things can possibly be done before it ends. Dr. William G.
Roy, now a professor of Sociology at the University of California, Los Angeles
after earning his PhD at the University of Michigan, writes in his book, Making
Societies, We party because it is Saturday; they would have called the day Saturday
whenever they were partying . (Roy, p. 31) Roy is contrasts today and earlier times
by showing how today we use the same sequences of markers of hours and days
rather than activities. Now people make time for activities instead of knowing
what activity is each day. I know that I have a schedule that has certain tasks and
each task must be completed by which ever activity it is for. For example, rush is at a
precise time and I make sure each day I complete my homework during a period of
time before rush. When it s Sunday I know that I have church at the same time I
always do and if I have a
The And Current State Of The Law Governing Workplace...
Critically assess the applicability of this statement as an analysis of the
development and current state of the law governing workplace relationships in
Australia including the decision of the Full Court of the Federal Court of
Australia in Commonwealth Bank of Australia v Barker [2013] FCAFC 83. To
what extent should this statement represent the object of labour law going
forward? The objective of labour law, in our common understanding of the subject,
is grounded in securing justice for employees (or workers) in their formal working
lives. The assumption that there is an imbalance of power in regards to the
relationship between employers and their employee has been established over a
significant period of time. With companies acquiring large amounts of funds and
expanding themselves on a global scale, those who hold managerial positions are
becoming more and more inclined to use their new found power in a way which
houses the potential to exploit the employees who are seen to have less of an
influence (in comparison with large profit maximising enterprises). It is for this
reason that regulation of the employment relationship between these two parties
ought to be properly regulated, as a means to ensure that companies do not take
advantage of their employees, a position which has been emphasised by law scholar
Sir Otto Kahn Freund, who has articulated that the main object of labour law has
always been, and I venture to say will always be, to be a countervailing
Investigating The Effect Of Ph On The Reaction Of A...
Introduction
I am going to examine how hydrogen peroxide (acidic fluid) will modify the outcome
of a poultry (enzyme) reaction.
Goal
Observe and record what happens when enzymes (chicken) are added to different
amounts of acid (hydrogen peroxide) mixed with water. The activity level of these
enzymes will differ and be dependent upon several factors, such as consistency, size
and shape of the molecule. Specific factor will be the concentration enzyme and
substrate. I will conduct a controlled experiment to determine the influence of pH on
the enzyme catalase and the release of oxygen.
Hypothesis
Acidic fluid on an enzymatic would react in different ways based on the strength of
the acid solution. The stronger the acid solution, there will be more of a reaction and
the stronger the base solution, there will be less of the reaction.
Pre lab Hypothesis
1.What do you expect to happen when an enzyme is added to an acid?
a.The acid will cause the enzyme to release oxygen in the form of bubbles and will
eventually dissolve the enzyme if given a long enough time frame.
2.Is Hydrogen Peroxide an acid or a base? Why?
a.Hydrogen Peroxide is a weak acid with PH level of 6.2, but it is still an acid.
3.What would happen if a stronger base ratio compared to a stronger acid ratio was
used?
a.There would not be much of a reaction at all because the base does not have a
strong enough PH level to break down the enzymes.
4.Which solution between the acid and the base do I
Gas Utilization Of Oil And Gas Technologies
Although the difficulty in storing processing, transporting and distributing gas makes
it difficult to utilise (Cost of transporting per unit energy is about 10 times higher
than that of oil) (Thomas et al, 2000), the evolution in oil and gas technologies has
presented many new ways for the commercialisation of APG, Technological options
for the monetisation of APG categorised into the methods available for getting gas
from production sites to consumers where it can consumed. In this chapter the
various methods would be briefly described, highlighting obtainable products and
benefits, challenges and limitations and viability conditions. These methods are
summarised as shown in figure 10. Figure 10: Paths to gas monetisation 4.1.1
Pipelines This is the oldest and simplest form of gas utilization. It involves
transporting treated gas from producers directly to its consumers (Speight, 2007;
Kidnay et al., 2006) 4.1.1.1 Products and Benefits The product is pipeline quality gas
for domestic, commercial and industrial use or for further processing. Utilized mainly
for power and heat generation. Once in place, this system aids the utilization of
massive amounts of APG a well planned out pipeline network could supply numerous
consumers from numerous producers 4.1.1.2 Challenges and Limitations The
Pipeline system is inflexible. Once built, routes cannot be changed and additional
connections are complex and uneconomical. Once piping diameters are decided,

The Film American History X
The film American History X begins with an average American middle class
family; four well behaved children and two all American parents living in Long
Beach, California. The father is killed in a shooting, leaving his eldest son, Derek,
the head of the household. Derek becomes enveloped in Neo Nazi culture from the
end of his adolescent years into early adulthood, and he becomes the leader of a gang.
At this point, his younger brother, Danny, is an adolescent and begins mimicking
his older brother s behavior. But the turning point of the movie is when Derek is
convicted for murdering a black man and serves three years in prison. This film is
primarily an example of moral growth, ontological shock, and choosing what kind of
influence one wants to project onto others. Derek realizes that he is going to be held
accountable for all of the viewpoints he has endorsed to others, that with drastic
actions come drastic consequences, and that autonomy is a powerful force when
fueled with willpower. The importance of social influence is a strong theme to
American History X, which is why I think Lev Vygostky s socio cultural theories
surrounding cognitive development can explain the film s meaning well. According
to Vygotsky, the interactions a person has between the environment and other human
beings determines the learning that takes place. The type of environment that a child
grows up in also greatly affects a person throughout life, as well. Vygostky also
believed that tutors
The Importance Of Lead In Drinking Water
Lead is a toxic metal that can accumulate in the body over time and is damaging to
health even at low exposure levels, especially for children. According to the EPA,
low levels of lead in the blood of children have been linked to central and peripheral
nervous system damage, learning disabilities, slowed growth, hearing problems and
anemia. The EPA estimates that drinking water can make up 20% or more of a
person s total exposure to lead. Recent random testing conducted by Utah state
officials found lead in the drinking water of 90% of the sampled schools. 10 of
such schools were found to have lead levels exceeding the EPA s safety guideline of
0.15 ppm. Lead may enter drinking water when lead containing plumbing corrodes,
which happens at

H2O will provide each employee the best package they can offer so that their stay in
the United States is as comfortable as possible. This company must first seek to look
for a decent Human Resource Information System (HRIS) that is better than the one
they have since they are looking to expand. They need to make sure whatever
software they purchase is able to meet the needs of their Germany and United States
locations. Next step is recruiting. H2O needs to make sure that they take into
consideration when sending experts to the United States or hiring employees from
within the United States. Human Resources should have a budget for employees in
areas of payroll, benefits, workers compensation, compliance, exit processes, legal
and taxes. All of these things have to be considered. The reason for having an
established budget is to ensure new hires are not laid off if H2O has cut costs
somewhere else to compensate their employees. Third step H2O needs to consider
is training and development. They should ask themselves how they want to train
their employees in the United States. Will they do on the job training or will H2O
require the employees to have the knowledge and skills by giving them a proficiency
and performance test. Establishing a staffing plan from the start is beneficial. All
companies should have this. The benefit of a staffing plan is so that you can
Education And Its Importance Of Education

Education and Its Importance Education is an important part of US society and all its
issues should be recognized and addressed. Unfortunately this is not the case.
Education has many issues and the three most important are the day one problem,
bullying, and high dropout rates. These issues are often a big problem and can lead to
an education that does not do the United States justice.
The first issue is the day one problem. This problem states the beginning of a child
s life is extremely important for a good education. (Strauss) For example, John has
parents who have minimal education, never went to college, and are poor.
Therefore, John has a definite disadvantage against other students, who have well
educated parents with a higher degree. Because of his disadvantage, he may not
perform as well in his classes, as there is no one easily accessible to help. This
issue worsens if the child is in a family where both parents work. He must work
harder to achieve academic success. (Strauss) His parents cannot help him, so this
child is less likely to learn basic concepts in school. How can he? He lacks an
adequate support system. (Strauss) This can lead to bad behavior due to frustrations
produced by his difficulties. A situation compounded by his parents living
conditions, who barely have the money to eat and pay rent. They cannot get books
for their child, and libraries while common, may not be as easily accessible
Analysis Of We Wear The Mask
The title of Dunbar s We Wear the Mask (1896) emphasizes the essential idea of the
poem, which is deception and illusion. The title is repeated in all three stanzas. This
tells the reader to keep the title in mind while reading the poem. The persona of
Dunbar is conveyed to the reader in first person, which has a strong contributed to the
message of the poem along with the rhythm and word choice. It shows the repulsive
worldDunbar lives in and the masking of his own true emotions throughout the poem.
Dunbar s emotional appeal enhances every mood in the poem from the need to hide
the true self, to the deep sorrow behind the mask, and to connecting the mask to how
humans must lie.
In the first stanza, Dunbar uses irony to express what the mask symbolizes. The
mask can represent several things from someone hiding behind a false expression
to the things people say and do that aren t honest. The main point of the poem
which describes the mask as a grin, but can lie . It hides our cheeks and shades our
eyes (Line 2) gives the reader a mental picture with the use of imagery. As well, the
extra spacing at the beginning of line two emphasizes the word hiding . This mask
hides its own existence, of agonizing misery and hardship. Many people put it on to
fit into society. When Dunbar says, With torn and bleeding hearts we smile , (Line
4) it explains the worldly power of the mask. The debt we pay to human guile, (Line
3) means the unhappiness they feel is related to them deceiving others. Both lines are
hyperboles that emphasize the struggle behind the mask. The figurative language not
only shows the theme of discernment, but shows its impact. In addition, applying the
words, we and our gives the poem an all inclusive feel which creates an auxiliary
meaning.
In the second stanza, Dunbar asks a rhetorical question to prove a point. One should
not let others make them suffer by hiding all feelings and emotions from society.
When he says, Why should the world be overwise, / In counting all our tears and
sighs? (Line 6 7), it contradicts the idea that this poem is universal with the phrase the
world . Throughout the poem, the time frame of the publication does not shift the
poem at all. But one would

In order to incite suspenseful feelings and include elements of Sci Fi,
cinematography and sound design were used. The fact that there isn t sound or
dialogue in the sequence and that the monster is never shown greatly increases the
scene s suspense. Sound design was utilized to create suspense because the monster is
solely heard with over exaggerated growling. Cinematography created suspense by
using shots that have low key lighting from eye level angle, and sometimes dramatic
high angles, tilting the camera for an upside down POV (Figure 3a). Since the
scientist can see what s chasing him, but we can t a mysterious suspense of the
unknown is created. The directors and cinematographers intended to make shots
suspenseful by focusing solely on distinct parts of the scientist s body, such as his
face (Figure 3a), and then pulling into a long shot to show his lower torso being lifted
up (Figure 3b). Immediately after that long, suspenseful sequence, the sequence
transitions to a serene, rural neighborhood sprinkler. This demonstrates a purposeful
discontinuity, in true thriller fashion, with many fluctuations in
The Hiding Place vs. Night
Many outsiders strive but fail to truly comprehend the haunting incident of World
War II s Holocaust. None but survivors and witnesses succeed to sense and live the
timeless pain of the event which repossesses the core of human psyche. Elie Wiesel
and Corrie Ten Boom are two of these survivors who, through their personal accounts,
allow the reader to glimpse empathy within the soul and the heart. Elie Wiesel(1928 ),
a journalist and Professor of Humanities at Boston University, is an author of 21
books. The first of his collection, entitled Night, is a terrifying account of Wiesel s
boyhood experience as a WWII Jewish prisoner of Hitler s dominant and secretive
Nazi party. At age 16 he was taken from his home in Sighet, Romania and... Show

The most important theme portrayed in Night is defined later by Wiesel himself:
The executioner killed for nothing, the victim died for nothing...During the Middle
Ages, the Jews, when they chose death, were convinced that by their sacrifice they
were glorifying and sanctifying God s name. At Auschwitz, the sacrifices were
without point, without faith, without divine inspiration... (Douglas) Wiesel feels
that the genocide of WWII came and went and proves no point to the world, gives
neither strength nor hope to the individual, and is basically pointless. After the
inhumane persecution, his God is not praised by a greater audience, Hitler and his
Nazi party does not gain more power, Jews are not respected by others, and the
world as a whole is not given reassurance of a better future. To Wiesel, the Holocaust
represents nothing but evil, guilt, and the decay of human morality. (Popular World
Fiction, II 35) As does Wiesel, Ten Boom preaches of the importance of learning
from past mistakes and not recycling a detrimental experience. However, the
evangelist in Ten Boom preaches beyond historical remembrance into the depths of
spiritual growth. She strongly believes that the world and its creatures are fated by
God and that every experience witnessed by an individual is predestined with the
purpose of teaching a life lesson. She survives with the hope and
George s, The And The Axis During World War II
General S. Patton once said, Never tell people how to do things. Tell them what to
do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity. Some may argue that his life was
cut short while others may say it was too long. Being a man who fought in World
War I and World War II, George S. Patton, Jr. certainly contained a wealth of
experience in warfare. Looking at the written history, there were those who seemed to
undervalue Patton, as well as those who may have held him much too high.
Researchers have many different opinions on Patton s leadership, but the research
here will encompass both the positive and the negative aspects of his leadership and
surrounding issues while addressing the following questions:
1.How was Patton as a leader?
2.Patton versus Politics Did this hold back his true potential?
3.How was Patton viewed by the Allies and the Axis during World WarII?
The research put forth will focus on these three questions.
George Smith Patton, Jr. was born November 11, 1885, well over one hundred
years ago. He is famously known for somewhat outrageous personality and his
conduct as a general during World War II. The family he was born into was wealthy
and one with a very extensive military background, with family members having
participated in the Revolutionary War, Mexican War, as well as the Civil War. This
may explain a little about Patton s almost obsessive study of military history ranging
from the Romans to the Napoleonic Wars (CMG Worldwide, Inc., n.d.).

Jazz Music In The 1920 s
Jazz music is a blend of white middle class thoughts and African American
traditions. Jazz originated in New Orleans in the beginning of the 1920 s. The Jazz
Age was from 1920 through 1929. During the 1920 s, the First World War had just
ended in 1918 and the Great Depression was affecting the citizens of the United
States. Jazzmusic and dancing helped people forget about the terrible Great
Depression. It gave the citizens a reason to be happy and love life during the 1920

Armstrongis one of the most important jazz figures. Louis Armstrong is one of the
first great soloists in the 1920 s musicians. His career rose in New Orleans. He
influenced other jazz musicians by his fearless trumpet styles and distinctive vocals.
Louis gave jazz music a purpose. He spread jazz throughout the world. Fletcher

Difference between Data and Information
Data is specific and it is organized for a purpose accurately and timely. Presented
within a context, it gives its meaning and relevance. The uncertainty also gets
minimized.
Information is valuable because it can affect decision or an outcome. For example, if
the manager is told about the company s net profit which has been decreased in the
past month, then this information can lead for a reason to cut financial spending for
the next month.
Information systems makes operations efficient, it processes data from company
inputs and generates the information that is useful for managing the operations. By
adding more data, information can be more accurate and it will increase the
information system s effectiveness. It is also used to support the organization s long
term goals.
Decisions
Information system from the company can help make better decisions by distributing
the required information and modeling the results of the decisions. Decision involves
choosing the particular action from

Lowering The Age Of Drinking Alcohol Essay
Should the Age Limit for Drinking Alcohol be Lowered?
Everyone hears about tragedies because of drunk drivers or the stories of the
people who grew up with alcoholic parents or the choices people who drink
extensively make that hurt and affect so many others. My mother grew up with two
alcoholic parents. They could be mean drunks. There are the different kinds of
drunks everyone knows: mean drunks, funny drunks, loud drunks, clumsy drunks,
emotional drunks, etc. What a lot of people don t realize is that, all drunks and
alcoholics have a few things in common. They all forget it in the morning, always
have a drink, always deny their problem, frequently can t/don t accept help unless
they want to change. There is no talking to an alcoholic.
My mother s father sobered up, but he died just a couple years ago; her mother, on
the other hand. never really sobered up. She is still and alcoholic and not only is it
hard on my mother still but it s hard on all of us. You can t talk to her and have her
temper what we said. She went to the hospital about two years ago for a reaction to a
medicine and the doctors took her BAC (Blood Alcohol Content). Her BAC was
.34. The legal limit is .08. She should have been dead. And during that time she was

Someone might argue that foreign countries have 18 years as the legal age, but
they don t think about how most other countries are more mature by that age and

immature and irresponsible to handle a younger drinking age. And age that can
create addicts and destroy bodies and minds of young people. Twenty one is not an

Speech On How To Get Rid Of A Dead Body
How to dispose of a dead body
First of all, I?m going to set my examples of getting rid of a dead body from a TV
show called ?Dexter.? The Items you need are (Plastic Wrap, Stapler, Black Trash
Bag, a collection of knives or a knife, etorphine which is used drug elephants, a boat,
a needle, and an empty place to make the killing).
I?m only teaching this for a good cause because sometimes there are people who
deserve to get punished but they get away with it. Or they are double faced they do
right stuff in front of people and bad Stuff behind the knowing of people.
I?m going to tell you now how to use these items.
First of all, you will use an isolated empty room to take your victim there while he is
drugged, then use the thick plastic paper to staple it to the roof and the walls ... Show

Then drug them using the etrophine, using etrophine is more guaranteed because it is
to drug elephants so it will affect the victim strongly and he will not wake up.
Next, you take your victim and drag them to your car. Make sure that nobody is
following or watching you.
Take your victim to the Place you had set up earlier which is the Kill room. Place
them on the table and wrap them in the Plastic wrap. You should make sure that you
got enough plastic wrap before you start doing anything, and remember to wrap them
with the enough amount of wrap.
After you covered your victim, you should start covering the room with plastic
wrap. Staple the plastic wrap to the ceiling and the walls not leaving any place for the
blood to leak and also make sure to use the 4 millimeter type of wrap its stronger than
the original one and it won t break or rip apart. Here is a picture of how the Kill
room should look

Comparing Learning Environments Paper
Comparing Learning Environments Molly Millard Walden University Comparing
Learning Environments The purpose of this paper is to discuss the similarities,
differences, pros, and cons between face to face classrooms, distance learning, and
hybrid environments. The role of the instructor and student both change depending on
the learning style chosen. Some are better for some students, and others are best due
to time restrictions or the material being taught. There is not one strategy that will
work for every class, each should be selected specifically for the environment and to
fit the student s needs. Similarities The three different learning environments studied
have a few similarities. Each type has some form of classroom, an instructor
imparting the subject material to the learner, subject material, and expectation of the
student will successfully learn the material. Roles and Responsibilities The roles and
responsibilities of the teacher in each environment change depending on the
environment. In the traditional classroom, the teacher acts as an authoritative figure
that provided the instruction to the learners (Haynes, 2015). The instructor in the face
to face environment controls the resources, the order of learning, and time spent in

The traditional face to face classroom fosters a relationship between the students and
teacher with their direct contact and interactions (Banna, 2014). This setting also
provides for ease of communications, ease in completing group activities, and for the
teacher to observe the student practicing the new skills. The information becomes
richer because, the student feels the entire experience, not just hearing and seeing the
material presented to them (Banna, 2014). The teacher can adapt their teaching style

Changes In Renaissance Culture
The Renaissance was a pivotal time coming out of Medieval Europe that was full of
many changes and advancements. Budding out of Italy, this change of society spread
throughout Europe and caused a drastic change of culture. One huge difference
between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance was the difference of lifestyle and self
value. A huge reason for this change was the rise of humanism. Humanism is a
doctrine, attitude, or way of life centered on human interests or values (Merriam
Webster). The rise of humanism during the Renaissancecaused an increased pursuit of
knowledge, less devout religion, and huge growth in the popularity and purchase of
art. Humanism began in Florence, Italy. It involved bringing back the lifestyles of
Classical Rome and Greece. Because of this, education was highly valued again
which caused many more people to learn how to read and write (Ketchum and
Plumb). The ideal man at this time was a man who was multitalented, a well rounded
man intellectually and artistically. The term Renaissance Man ... Show more content

People began to live much more luxurious lifestyles alongside their religion.
Francesco Petrarch, known to many as the Father of Humanism , had a huge
influence on the religious aspect of humanism. Though he was a devout Catholic,
he argued that one could live a lavish life and reach their full human potential while
still being completely faithful to God. Instead of showing their devotion by
swearing their lives to poverty, people would read, write, and even paint or play
music (Rabil 210 218). The Reformation also went hand in hand with humanism.
People were more focused on being individuals and learning on their own, so
religious views of many changed when Martin Luther and John Calvin were
professing ideas about the bible being the ultimate answer rather than the pope.
Humanism caused people in the Renaissance to be less reverent than their previous

Media Bias Analysis
Journalist Jim Lehrer believes that media bias is not as prevalent as many people
believe when it comes to election coverage, stating that 99% of the political
coverage that I see in the mainstream media is driven by what happens, not by
anybody s bias (Lehrer, 2008). Despite Lehrer s claim of no media bias, both
conservatives and liberals believe media bias against them is real. Studies, however,
show that this more a question of their own bias rather than that of the journalist, and
loss of power in traditional media and changes in public opinion about the press have
made it difficult for the press to assert itself as neutral.
Traditional media, such as newspapers, have been in decline as news consumers
turn to free access on the internet, and advertising dollars have fled along with the
consumers. The newspaper industry has $1.6 billion less a year to spend on news
than ten years ago (Jones, 2017, p. 577). Newer forms of online and digital media
do not have the high financial costs of television and printed media to publish their
content and are better able to cater to specific issues. In reviewing news, studies
show that consumers tend to judge the media source as biased if it differs from their
own opinions (Kaye, 2016, p. 607). Strong liberals regularly turn to media that
support their ideology such as MSNBC, while strong ... Show more content on

580). Perceptions of inaccurate reporting while being unwilling to admit error, as
well as media bias, have turned public opinion from believing the press supports
democracy to belief that it causes harm instead. Studies show that the publics trust of
media mirrors their lack of trust in the government (Kaye, 2016, p.609). Therefore,
belief in media bias increases as Americans lose faith in the political process and

The Louisiana Territory And How It Changed America
Forever
The American landscape has always been that of great majestic glory. But this was
not always so. The westward expansion was not always in the cards for the
Americans. The French had mostly settled from the Mississippi River in the east to
the Rocky Mountains in the west and from the Gulf of Mexico in the south to the
Canadian border in the north. With the Louisiana Purchasethe U.S acquired most of
that land. How did this land help define the United Statesof America as a Nation?
This essay will discuss the actions leading up to the Acquirement of the Louisiana
territory and how it changed America forever.
In 1762 France ceded French Louisiana west of the Mississippi River to Spain. The
French also transferred almost all of its remaining North American holdings to
Britain in 1763. Spain was no longer a dominant country and they did little to
develop Louisiana during the next three decades in which they held it. Spain in 1796
allied itself with France causing Britain in a bold move to use its navy to cut off the
Spanish from reaching America.
The Spanish in 1801 signed in secret, a treaty with France to return Louisiana
Territory to France. This set off a series of concerns for the Americans. Americans
had been moving westward into the Ohio River and Tennessee River valley areas
since the 1780 s and the Port of New Orleans was a strategic port of entry as well as
the Mississippi River which was needed if the U.S was going to be able to ship good
through the Gulf of Mexico.
The Trade Routes And The Spread Of Islam
The Malian Trade Routes and the Impact on West Africa Through the Spread of
Islam Along These Routes The trade routes of Mali are not as well known as others
like the Silk Road, but they were influential in the trade of North Africa and forever
influenced history. These trade routes conveyed gold, salt, and, to a lesser extent,
copper to empires in the Middle East and Mediterranean. However, the most
influential effect of these trade routes was the spread of Islam throughout West and
Central Africa. The empire of Mali rose in the early 13th century and soon
expanded. The empire controlled all of the main trade routes throughout West
Africa, which are collectively referred to as the Malian trade routes. These trade
routes were vital to most of the world. Berber traders from northern Africa came
along these routes to get gold and salt, vital for the flavoring and more importantly
the preservation of food, to trade to the Middle Eastern and Mediterranean
empires. In addition, traders from northwestern Africa brought salt along these
routes to major trading cities in Mali, to trade to the Berber traders and merchants
from Central Africa. Mali had so much gold and the trade of gold was so important
to the rest of the world that maps of the ancient world depicted Mali with a gold
nugget or with a man wearing a gold crown sitting on a gold throne and holding a
gold spear in one hand and a gold coin the size of his head in his other hand. The salt
trade was also very
Why Is China Weak Or Strong
Are Women in China Weak or Strong?
For years, it has been debated on whether or not women in China were weak or
strong. In China, women were regarded as the lesser gender. Yet, does that
necessarily mean that women in China are weak? There are facts supporting both
opinions, but I believe there are more signs pointing towards how resilient and strong
women actually are. Women in China were exceptionally strong despite being
persecuted for their gender; Although these women were required by tradition to
serve their husbands or bind their feet, they still lived and conquered on. The three
main points I believe that show how strong women from China are is that women are
respected, even though their gender is, lesser, women still live their life ... Show more

One example of this is a quote which states Apart from these offerings, human
sacrifices, were performed so Fu Hao would have servants in the afterlife. ; Fu Hao
was also a military leader, a shaman / priestess, and an influential politician who
lived a life that Chinese women only dreamed about. This quote serves to remind
that Fu Hao received not only the same treatment as men in China, but also was
buried the same way that pharaohs in Egypt were buried. It also speaks wonders to
the fact that if her husband did not respect her, she would not be. An additional quote
that speaks volumes about this particular issue is, as mothers and mother in laws, a
good deal of honor . Something that men need/needed to keep in mind about women
was that without a woman, they would not be alive. No matter what society, place,
or time period that someone was or is living in, women do have motherhood
working in their advantage, and motherhood is not something that will or ever can
be taken away from women. The third and last quote is, if a man died and his sons
were not yet old enough to be the head of the family, the women would fill the
place till the sons were old enough ; This quote was chosen because I feel as though
if women were through not respected, then there would have been a different way
or some other person to lead . This shows respect because putting your son or son s

The Stonewall Rebellion or Stonewall Riots was a series of violent riots that took
place between gay and trans activists, drag queens, and other patrons of The
Stonewall Inn against the police after a raid had been carried out by the Sixth
Precinct police. The days and rebellions that followed are monumental moments in
LGBT and World history.
For New York s gay and trans communities the 1960 s marks a turning point in their
history; Sodomy had been reduced to a misdemeanour, with a maximum sentence of
six months in prison, the anti gay accommodation rules of the New York State Liquor

The Stonewall Inn had been registered as a private Bottle Bar which meant patrons
were expected to bring their own liquor. The Genovese Family would often bribe
the Sixth Precinct to turn a blind eye to the activities occurring in inn. However, in
the early hours of June 28th 1969 and readied with a warrant for storing and selling

Gallstones Research Paper
What is Gallstones in Cats?
The cat s gallbladder is a small, balloon shaped organ that is located in the lobes of
the liver. Its primary function is releasing bile into the digestive tract to aid in the
digestion of food. Cholelithiasis is a condition that causes small stones, or choleliths,
to form in the gallbladder. These stones are typically made of calcium carbonate
mixed with other secreted substance and minerals.
Though gallstones are rare in cats, the presence of large stones is a medical
emergency as the stones can block the bile from being released and cause problems
with the liver, digestive system and the kidneys.
Symptoms of Gallstones in Cats

Small gallstones that aren t causing symptoms or digestive problems may not need
any treatment. These stones are typically found during an ultrasound for another

Medication
Antibiotics will be prescribed to the cat to clear infections or bacterial
complications that are causing the gallstones to form. Antibiotics may also be
prescribed before surgery in order to prevent infection from occurring after surgery.
Ursodeoxycholic acid may be prescribed twice a day in order to dissolve small
gallstones that aren t blocking the bile duct. S Adenosylmethionine, or SAMe, may
also be given in order to improve bile production and function of the liver.

Walt Disney s Influence On The Entire World
Walter Elias Walt Disney, sound familiar? Even though he was a very famous
innovator and pioneer, Walt is known for many different things. He and his brother
Roy co founded Walt Disney Productions, which is one of the best known motion
picture production companies in the entire world. Walt Disney was also the founder
of theme parks Disneyland and Walt DisneyWorld.
Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901, In Chicago, Illinois. His father was
Elias Disney and his mother was Flora Call Disney. Disney had 4 other siblings other
than himself. Disney attended McKinley high school. He took drawing and
photography classes and was the cartoonist for the school newspaper. At the end of
the day, he took classes at the Chicago Institute.
When he was 16 years old he dropped out of school. He tried to join the army but
was denied for being underage. He joined the Red Cross instead. Disney went to
Kansas City and continued to seek a career as a newspaper artist. He first worked at
the Pesmen Rubin Art Studio, then at the Kansas City Film and lastly from all of his
experience, he decided to open his own animation business.
Walt and his first employee, Fred Harman, made a deal with a local theater to
screen their cartoons, which they called Laugh O Grams. The cartoons were so
popular; Disney was able to obtain a studio of his own. By 1953 the studio became
burdened with debt, and Disney was forced to declare bankruptcy.

Solitary Confinement, By F. Scott Fitzgerald
The documentary, Solitary Confinement, really brings to light the issues that
surround this old form of punishment. These tactics were used in the past, and then
were eventually regarded as being cruel and inhumane. Somehow, the idea of
solitary confinement has returned and is respected among many people. I believe
that there are some people who do need to be put in solitary confinement and some
who shouldn t have to go through that psychological pain. The movie did shine some
perspective on to me, as i had not nearly any clue as to what really went down behind
those walls.
First of all, at Colorado State Penitentiary, they call it administrative segregation
rather than solitary confinement. This is because their goal is supposedly, just to cut
them off from physical contact until they are determined to be safe around other
people. The feelings projected by the men being interviewed in the documentary tie
in with the feelings that Stanley Tookie Williams expressed in his book, Life in Prison
. All of the inmates, including Stanley, acknowledged that solitary confinement, or
the hole, causes people to go crazy. Stanley complained of the small cells and how it
made many men go stir crazy. In the film, they showed exactly how small the cells are
and the limited room for activity that the inmates have. The images in the
documentary of the men getting strip searched further supported Stanley s statements
regarding the embarrassment of strip searches. It showed one of the men

courts of Britain. As the conception of fin amour became increasingly popular
amongst the literature of the aristocracy, writers such as, Andreas Capellanus wrote
of the stages and rules of courtly love. Inspired by this movement in the culture and
literature of court, the poet Marie de Francecomposed a collection of romantic lays.
In the Breton Lays , Marie presents her narratives as a guide for courtly lovers. For,
each lay exhibits the problems, consequences, and rewards that can occur if a lady
or knight does/or does not follow the three principles of fin amour which, as
explained by the scholars Jeri S. Guthrie (1976) and F.R.P Akehurst (1995), include
mezura (to have self restraint and patience in love, to have discretion within an
affair), joven (to be spontaneous in love, to woo with grand gestures and gifts), and
cortezia (to follow the moral and societal rules of court).
The first standard of courtly love Marie de France presents within The Breton Lays
is mezura. Through the narratives of Lanval and Yonec , Marie reinforces the
importance mezura plays in maintaining a courtly affair; she shows that being open
about a relationship can lead to disaster. In the story of Lanval , Lanval breaks the
principle of mezura by rashly exposing his affair with the amie to Queen Guinevere.
When Guinevere propositions
Night Sky Experiment
Our night sky, always seems to be sparkling at night, due to stars. Stars are
luminous ball of gas, mostly hydrogen and helium, held together by its own
gravity. Our night sky is filled with groupings of stars creating a galaxy, or also
known as The Milky Way. The Milky Way, is one of many galaxies in a Local
Group, containing between 100 400 billion stars. Observing these stars with the
naked eye is sometimes difficult, however technology today has made it much
easier. In the experiment Number the Stars , we used two different types of
telescopes, and a paper towel roll to record different counts of stars in different
brightness s in the sky. Between my partner and I we hypothesized that the larger
focal point on the telescope, would... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When we compared the counts between the bright and dark locations. The bright
locations average around 90% less stars than in the dark regions. However, when
observing the sky with two different eye pieces, the number of stars drastically
increased when viewing through the 40 mm, almost doubling. The viewings/counts
came out to be very diverse in which the tables will show below.

III.Discussion
a.When looking at the data between the two different eyepieces, with different focal
lengths, we can see that our hypothesis was correct. Eyepiece two has a larger focal
point allowing us to see more stars in the dark night. Also, we can conclude that the
darker the viewing/ observing area in the sky, allows the naked eye to see more
visible light.
b.An experiment like this allows us to understand the visibility in light vs dark and
the comparison between telescopes and the
The ChildrenВґs Act of 1989 and 2004
1.1
The Children s Act 1989 and 2004: This act is all about ensuring that the children
are kept safe from harm and are developing healthy. It s important that settings
support children and their families and work together with them to provide the best
for the children. In 2004 the act was revisited because of the Victoria Climbie case
and the every child matters came into place where five main aims were made: be
healthy, stay safe, achieve through learning, achieve economic well being and make a
positive contribution to society.

Also employers should provide up to date courses on health and safety to ensure
that staff know how to keep themselves and others safe in the workplace and any
outside visitors or customers that come in and to be able to co operate with their
employers. Also make sure they are following safety rules like using equipment
safely, ensuring materials used are properly stored, handled, used and transported,
to provide a safe working environment for employers, to provide a written safety
policy/risk assessment, also staff should know what to do in case of an accident
occurring at work or how to report any safety risks.
1.2 describe the roles of different agencies involved in safeguarding the welfare of
children/young people.
Police Children and young people are among the most vulnerable people in society,
police ensure that investigating child abuse and safeguarding children is just as
important as any other major crimes. It s the police job and role to investigate all
reports of child abuse and neglect and to protect the rights and lives of any young
person or child. It s also their job to try to reduce and prevent as many cases of child
abuse and neglect as possible. They are there to keep young people and children safe
from harm and to take action against offenders who destroy the welfare of
`` We Wants Our Rights And We Don t Care How
The opening line on Marat/Sade posters read, We wants our rights and we don t
care how. We want our revolution NOW . The disturbing picture alongside
portrays a blood soaked arm grasping an equally crimson knife from which blood
drips. Ever since its first English language production, in 1964, Peter Weiss play has
proved a confronting experience for audiences, and Barry French s production at the
New Theatre does not disappoint. A play within a play written by the infamous
Marquis de Sadeduring his imprisonment in an asylum, French sought to represent a
re enactment of the twilight hours of the French Revolutionary ending with Marat s
murder. This links back to the opening line and the partisans willingness to seize a

Immediately afterwards she is seen calling for Simmone, her attendant and lover to
calm her itching skin with cold water. Despite being passionately committed to
collective action for social reform, her physical handicaps serve as a reminder that
her character is merely an extension of Sade s writing and any further personal action
requires his permission . In contrast, Sade often remained silent save for his
occasional polarizing arguments with Marat which solidified his position as a creator
rather than just an another character. Furthermore, his ability to physically pace and
project a louder presence in contrast to Marat within the performance space highlights
an another aspect of power separation between the two central characters.
I believe that such displays of power inequality amongst characters such as Sade and
Marat could be further explored through the cage like setting stated earlier. Upon
entering the intimate yet slightly claustrophobic theatre, the audience and I were
faced with a unique and privileged seating arrangement where three rows of seating
surrounded a central metal cage. The cage is reminiscent of a prison compound with
high iron fences that have wrapped around the stage except for a single entrance/exit
in a far corner. It was much later in the performance did I realize that French usage of
literary place was ingenious. The outer action consist of the Coulmiers and the
Parisian elite (the audience) while the
The Importance Of Media In The Media
Media is everywhere around the world, it surrounds us even when sometimes we
don t even notice it. It can appear from newspapers to news, or as well physically
and throughout electronic devices such as cell phones. We consider it as a tool to
make time fly ahead or to spectate what is going on with other people s lives.
However, we may encounter certain factors that may not appeal to us. We may see
postings or news about tragic events that happen around the world and surprisingly,
sometimes we don t even bother to care, due to the fact that it wasn t us in that
situation. There are a great number of aspects to be resolved for this world to be free
from issues, but a question that comes to mind is, What if it never... Show more

An example that can relate to this song is when 9/11 happened, due to terrorists.
An unexpected tragic event that no one thought would happen that took many
lives from loved ones to close ones. In addition, Billie Joe Armstrong s pathos has
an outstanding true meaning based from the lyrics, A new day dawning, comes
without warning... . One can interpret based on this factor that every day is a new
opportunity for something tragic to happen. This here is the message that Billie
Joe Armstrong is trying to convey to us all. He wants us to realize that all though
we live happy at times, there is always something dark waiting to approach at any
time with unpredictable outcome. A second example based on this observation
can be the terror attack that happened recently on Friday when a bombing occurred
in a London train underground that injured 30 passengers on board. And
furthermore, a second man was arrested a couple days later due to the fact that he
too was also affiliated with the incident as well according to officers. In addition to
the topic, Billie Joe Armstrong states about love and peace and how it s impossible
for such thing like that to occur, What good is love and peace on earth? When it s
exclusive? , as if he were trying to say that it would have to take a miracle for the
world to resolve from this. Many people have experienced moments when others are
made fun of or times when people fight for various reasons such as an argument.
History Of Campaign Finance Reform
Campaign finance reform is a movement in the United States to help change the
involvement of money in American political campaigns (Boundless, 2015).
Throughout the history of campaign finance reform, three main areas have
consistently been the target of regulation: contributions, expenditures, and
advertising. Over the years Congress has instituted limits on how much individuals or
organizations may contribute to federal campaign committees and political groups,
how much campaign committees may spend during the course of an election, and how
much money might be used for advertising expenses during a campaign (Smith,
2010). To help limit contributions, expenditures, and advertising Congress has passed
laws which are known as campaign finance... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Tillman Act of 1907 prohibits money contributions to political campaigns by
partnerships and national banks (Profile: Tillman Act, 2015). The Act was ignored
by loopholes that the citizens and corporations found (Profile: Tillman Act, 2015).
The Federal Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) of 1910 expands on the Tillman Act of
1907 (Profile: Tillman Act, 2015). The FCPA expands on the Tillman Act by
establishing limits on how much campaigns can spend on US House election
campaigns (Profile: Tillman Act, 2015). The Act additionally requires knowledge of
all monies spent and contributed during federal campaigns (Profile: Tillman Act,
Value My Family
I was born in a family that is very connected. My family would help each other in
many ways including help in homework, tests, quizzes, keeping the house in shape
order and so on. The most important thing in my life is my family. The reason why
I value my family so much is because they help me in my everyday life. My brother
helps me with school, my sister helps me in writing my essays, and my motherand
father keep the house clean and stable. If I didn t have such a family, I would not be
the person I am today.
What I value the most in my life is my family. The reason why I value my family is
because they help me go through life, guiding me through life s challenges. For
example, regarding school, my older sister and my brother help teach me things
that I didn t understand. For example, when I began writing important pieces in
ELA including essays, my sister laid out the basic outline for an essay. Then my
brother would check my essay for grammar mistakes, improper tense or sloppy
wording. My brother also helps me out in math and science. He recently began
helping me out in math and science as soon as I began Manhattan Village Academy.
My brother would teach me concepts in math that he is learning in geometry at
school. These concepts would give me a better understanding of the Geometry of
Manhattan Village Academy. In addition, my twin brother is taking Biology, and
would fill me in on the biological components of AP Environmental Science. I also
value my mother and
Memphis International Airport ( Mem )
The following paper explores how Memphis International Airport (MEM), the world s
second busiest
cargo shipping airport, handles its day to day operations involving passenger airlines
in conjunction with
FedEx commercial shipping. By comparing DOT and FAA reports, along with the
airlines and FedEx s
shipping statistics, an airport capacity and congestion problem is disproved. Since
Delta closed down
their MEM hub, passenger air travel has dramatically decreased while cargo shipping
has continued to
steadily climb. Other airlines have started offering services in and out of MEM but
were only able to
increase passenger travel by 1%, in 2014. The different operating schedules of
passenger and cargo
shipping, allow for each of them to conduct their flights without hindering the
operations of the other.

Memphis International Airport and Airspace Case Study
Memphis airport was created in 1927 by then Mayor, Watkins Overton. The airport
continued to grow, and in 1956 an airport planning committee designed and built a
passenger
terminal to keep pace with the emerging Jet Age . The new terminal, completed in
1963,
featured 22 gates and could handle up to seven airliners. In 1969 the airport became
known as
the Memphis International Airport (MEM).
Memphis International Airport received another huge boost in 1973, when what is
now
known as FedEx was founded in Memphis, and the company built a sorting facility

Student Athletes For The University Of Ohio
Secondly, for student athletes who practice a sport and attend classes, it is often
difficult to complete both tasks. Many students begin to show less motivation making
it harder to stay focus and attend their required classes. This is the case of student
athlete Cardale Jones, a quarterback for the Universityof Ohio. After taking his
sociology final exam, he commented that coming to class was pointless when his
only responsibility was to play football for the university (Tracy 1). Studentathletes
start to show poor academic achievement when they consume a lot of time in their
sports and often forget about their role of being a student. For instance, when
students are not able to complete their school assignments during the day they
decide to study late and do not sleep the necessary hours they need in order for their
bodies to function and their brains to focus. In this case, the poor achievement in
students is notable because they do not perform well in school and do not have a
good nutrition. They often do not have time to eat the required three meals a day that
their bodies need. The poor academic achievement is often noticeable when many
coaches begin to tell their athletes that they are not allowed to take classes that
interfere with practice. This puts athletes in a barrier when they have to balance the
two roles of responsibility of attending class and completing homework assignments
and attending the games. Student athletes have a poor mental and physical body
Analysis Of The Wondrous Life Of Oscar Wao
Interpretation of literature
Keenan Walsh
The Importance Of Perspective
In many cultures, especially today s America many people do not believe in curses
or do not take them seriously. However in the Dominican culture, the curse of the
Fuku is life or death. If you are cursed with it you and your family will receive bad
luck for all your lives. The Brief Wondrous Life Of Oscar Wao is a story about a
Dominican family, the Cabrals, who receive this curse and the text follows the
horrors they experience. The story is told from multiple points of view members of
the Cabral family and those close to them. In The Brief Wondrous Life Of Oscar
Wao, Junot Diaz uses Different points of view of characters to explore the thematic
concern of the magical element of the Fuku and how it effects each character. It is
important for Diaz to use these different points of view to show the power and
realism of this curse, especially in the Dominican culture.
Junot Diaz uses the shifting points of view to introduce the reader to how the Fuku
began in the family by showing the effects it had on Aberlard Cabral. It stays
within his bloodline and it immediately destroys his life. Trujillo is described as
either the curses servant or its master. (3) and he possesses the power to use the
curse. When Aberlard Cabral insulted the great Trujillo, he and his family were
cursed. Out of his fear of Trujillo finding out he had been hiding his wife and his
daughter from him, Aberlard writes a book he
USS Maine Explosion Analysis
Not until the Gulf of Tonkin Incident would a trigger to war be so scrutinized and
clouded in mystery as the destruction of the USS Maine. Over one hundred years
later there is still a debate over what caused the explosion on the Maine and
ultimately led the United States to war with Spain. The debate of the USS Maines
destruction is over whether the explosion came from inside the ship, the internal
explosion theory, or came from an outside the ship, the external explosion theory.
Most of these arguments are focused on the cause of the explosion, whether a fire
broke out on board or if a perpetrator, either the Spanish or Cuban rebels caused the
explosion. This paper will mainly focus on warning but also talk about the origin of
the explosion,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On top of this, there was a severe lack of dead fish in the bay area following the
explosion. If an external explosion sunk the Maine, then all the fish within 300
yards of the ship should have been dead. However, the distinct lack of dead fish
gives some, albeit not much, credence to the idea that it was an internal explosion
(Rickover 119). Along with the lack of dead fish, there is a distinct absence of
torpedo casings or mine remnants that can usually be found after these devices have
gone off. Again, like the lack of fish, this is not concrete evidence but more
circumstantial that adds a little bit more weight to the idea of an internal
The Healthsouth Corporation Inc.
INTRODUCTION The HealthSouth Corporation was started in 1984 by Richard
Scrushy with hopes of becoming one of the largest healthcare companies in the
country. It was doing quite well by 1996 with a market value of nearly $12 billion
and was one of the United States largest healthcare firms. This all fell apart in 2003
when it was discovered that Scrushy and his employees had committed fraud in the
estimated range of almost $2.7 billion (Daigle, Louwers and Morris 887). Scrushy,
over the years, had brought on many new faces to the company. Many of these
employees were friends of Scrushy from previous business ventures and business
meetings. These employees and the others involved in the fraud were given the
name family ; highly due to the fact that they all knew what was happening and not
one wanted to go to the authorities to confess. It was after the fraud had gone on for
nearly six years that the former CFO Weston Smith tipped off federal investigators.
Following the actions by Smith, the four other CFO s who ran the company during
the fraud came forward which included: Aaron Beam Jr., Michael Martin, Malcom
McVay, and then current CFO William Owens. Along with the CFO s their staff
members who were also in on the fraud also came forward bringing the total number
of involved to fifteen. Also the Birmingham Alabama office of Ernst Youngcame
under heavy scrutiny for auditing HealthSouth during the fraud and failing to take
action on any evidence they found.

  • 2. Why Did Napoleon Die In Animal Farm Two years later Napoleon conquered Pilkington and Fredrick s farm. The humans on the farms were treated like the animals and starving to death. The animals that were working on the farm have left because they no longer wanted to live under Napoleon s rule, or died from starvation and cruelty. Napoleon is mad because the animalsare gone, the humans are dying and no work is getting done on the farm. Since no one was working and Napoleon was starving he ordered the dogs to kill Squealer for food. Napoleon had turned to cannibalism. The word of Napoleon killing Squealer spread quickly and the animals that escaped were terrified that Napoleon was coming after them. Napoleon eventually ran out of food and is down to his last bottle of whiskey. He decided to venture out and find the animals. He walked around on what was Pilkington s farm. It was destroyed and over grown with weeds. Napoleon and his dogs searched Pilkington s farm all day and were not able find a trace of the animals that ran away. Napoleon was becoming frustrated at the dogs for not being able to catch the animals scent. They could finally fix the farm the way Old Major and the other farm animals wanted it to be. They went back to the farm they once lived at and saw how bad it had gotten. The windows on the house were all shattered and all of the doors were gone. The barn was discolored and pieces of the roof were gone. The walls of the barn needed to be replaced. Everything was dead and rotting. The animals knew it was going to be hard to fix the farm and grow food. They knew they were going to have to work long and hard to fix the damage that was done to the
  • 3. Cindy Sherman Research Paper The two portrait photographers, Cindy Sherman and JR have different approaches to photography. Cindy Sherman is a historical portrait photographer, while JR is a contemporary portrait photographer and active as of now. These artists have unique aesthetics and techniques used to capture images and distinguish themselves. Not only that but, their methods and interpretation on photographyare complete foils of one another. Each individual photographer has their own visions of art, and this stands true for Cindy Sherman and JR. Growing up, JR had a passion for graffiti but who would ever thought he would implement this into photography? JR describes himself as a photogreuffer, yet even though he has built himself such a riveting reputation, he prefers to stay anonymous. In her most famous photograph Untitled Film Still #21 she produced an expressionistic self portrait by portraying as a small town girl, supposedly lost in the Big City . The elements and principles, though lacking in visual colour, she makes it up by having other significant elements such as the lines of the windows and structures with the subject s eyesight directing observers throughout the picture. There is very little negative space, in addition, the subject is placed near the lower right acting as the focal point creating an asymmetrical balance to expose the uncomfortable sense of being misplaced . Furthermore, the camera angle from a downwards view stresses how large the surrounding is and that she is merely lost. In consideration, the background simply highlights the atmosphere that is instilled within the audience helping viewers understand the ambience of the image. It genuinely is a narrow depth of field to clarify the expression of the subject she has chosen to represent, in which is being supported by the scenario of towering skyscrapers and not vice
  • 4. Playstation 4 Vs The X Box The release of the next generation gaming consoles has left the gaming industry is in frenzy. With so much demand for the consoles it feels as though people are ready to give away their legs to get either the PlayStation 4 or the X Box One. With two of these monstrous gaming devices available, the decision to just choose just one console seems to be, for some, a life and death decision. Many people, as a result of not conducting the proper research, fail to realize how easy of a decision this is. In this much anticipated console race, the PlayStation 4 has a clear advantage over the X box One and as a result, it is the console that consumers should look to buy. Firstly, one must look at the hardware specification for both these consoles. Although both the X Box One and the PS4 include intricate graphic processing units, the PlayStation 4 has a GPU that is 50% more powerful than the Xbox One (Anthony). This will allow gamers to experience a more stunning and realistic gaming experience and will permit the game developers to produce games that are superior in quality. In addition, the PS4 and the X Box One have similar random access memory or RAM, speeds but the distinction is in complexity, and this allows PlayStation 4 s RAM to run a memory bandwidth of roughly 176GB per second, while the Xbox One gets by with bandwidth of around 68.26GB per second (Cunningham). With the colossal advantage in RAM the PlayStation 4 is able to run heavier programs and games more

  • 6. Time Is Essential Everyday Life Today people make schedules to help organize their time and complete each task they must accomplish. For me, time is essential in everyday life. It provides a natural schedule that tells me when to wake up, go to sleep, eat, or any other plan for the day. Social interactions and institutions carve out certain parts of my timethat I learn to adjust to. School, church, clubs, and friends are a few things that are responsible for molding my schedule each day. Over the years, people have transformed from becoming occupied to being in a rush. Every day is basically a clock to see how many things can possibly be done before it ends. Dr. William G. Roy, now a professor of Sociology at the University of California, Los Angeles after earning his PhD at the University of Michigan, writes in his book, Making Societies, We party because it is Saturday; they would have called the day Saturday whenever they were partying . (Roy, p. 31) Roy is contrasts today and earlier times by showing how today we use the same sequences of markers of hours and days rather than activities. Now people make time for activities instead of knowing what activity is each day. I know that I have a schedule that has certain tasks and each task must be completed by which ever activity it is for. For example, rush is at a precise time and I make sure each day I complete my homework during a period of time before rush. When it s Sunday I know that I have church at the same time I always do and if I have a
  • 7. The And Current State Of The Law Governing Workplace... Critically assess the applicability of this statement as an analysis of the development and current state of the law governing workplace relationships in Australia including the decision of the Full Court of the Federal Court of Australia in Commonwealth Bank of Australia v Barker [2013] FCAFC 83. To what extent should this statement represent the object of labour law going forward? The objective of labour law, in our common understanding of the subject, is grounded in securing justice for employees (or workers) in their formal working lives. The assumption that there is an imbalance of power in regards to the relationship between employers and their employee has been established over a significant period of time. With companies acquiring large amounts of funds and expanding themselves on a global scale, those who hold managerial positions are becoming more and more inclined to use their new found power in a way which houses the potential to exploit the employees who are seen to have less of an influence (in comparison with large profit maximising enterprises). It is for this reason that regulation of the employment relationship between these two parties ought to be properly regulated, as a means to ensure that companies do not take advantage of their employees, a position which has been emphasised by law scholar Sir Otto Kahn Freund, who has articulated that the main object of labour law has always been, and I venture to say will always be, to be a countervailing
  • 8. Investigating The Effect Of Ph On The Reaction Of A... Introduction I am going to examine how hydrogen peroxide (acidic fluid) will modify the outcome of a poultry (enzyme) reaction. Goal Observe and record what happens when enzymes (chicken) are added to different amounts of acid (hydrogen peroxide) mixed with water. The activity level of these enzymes will differ and be dependent upon several factors, such as consistency, size and shape of the molecule. Specific factor will be the concentration enzyme and substrate. I will conduct a controlled experiment to determine the influence of pH on the enzyme catalase and the release of oxygen. Hypothesis Acidic fluid on an enzymatic would react in different ways based on the strength of the acid solution. The stronger the acid solution, there will be more of a reaction and the stronger the base solution, there will be less of the reaction. Pre lab Hypothesis 1.What do you expect to happen when an enzyme is added to an acid? a.The acid will cause the enzyme to release oxygen in the form of bubbles and will eventually dissolve the enzyme if given a long enough time frame. 2.Is Hydrogen Peroxide an acid or a base? Why? a.Hydrogen Peroxide is a weak acid with PH level of 6.2, but it is still an acid. 3.What would happen if a stronger base ratio compared to a stronger acid ratio was used? a.There would not be much of a reaction at all because the base does not have a strong enough PH level to break down the enzymes. 4.Which solution between the acid and the base do I
  • 9. Gas Utilization Of Oil And Gas Technologies Although the difficulty in storing processing, transporting and distributing gas makes it difficult to utilise (Cost of transporting per unit energy is about 10 times higher than that of oil) (Thomas et al, 2000), the evolution in oil and gas technologies has presented many new ways for the commercialisation of APG, Technological options for the monetisation of APG categorised into the methods available for getting gas from production sites to consumers where it can consumed. In this chapter the various methods would be briefly described, highlighting obtainable products and benefits, challenges and limitations and viability conditions. These methods are summarised as shown in figure 10. Figure 10: Paths to gas monetisation 4.1.1 Pipelines This is the oldest and simplest form of gas utilization. It involves transporting treated gas from producers directly to its consumers (Speight, 2007; Kidnay et al., 2006) 4.1.1.1 Products and Benefits The product is pipeline quality gas for domestic, commercial and industrial use or for further processing. Utilized mainly for power and heat generation. Once in place, this system aids the utilization of massive amounts of APG a well planned out pipeline network could supply numerous consumers from numerous producers 4.1.1.2 Challenges and Limitations The Pipeline system is inflexible. Once built, routes cannot be changed and additional connections are complex and uneconomical. Once piping diameters are decided, quantities that can be
  • 10. The Film American History X The film American History X begins with an average American middle class family; four well behaved children and two all American parents living in Long Beach, California. The father is killed in a shooting, leaving his eldest son, Derek, the head of the household. Derek becomes enveloped in Neo Nazi culture from the end of his adolescent years into early adulthood, and he becomes the leader of a gang. At this point, his younger brother, Danny, is an adolescent and begins mimicking his older brother s behavior. But the turning point of the movie is when Derek is convicted for murdering a black man and serves three years in prison. This film is primarily an example of moral growth, ontological shock, and choosing what kind of influence one wants to project onto others. Derek realizes that he is going to be held accountable for all of the viewpoints he has endorsed to others, that with drastic actions come drastic consequences, and that autonomy is a powerful force when fueled with willpower. The importance of social influence is a strong theme to American History X, which is why I think Lev Vygostky s socio cultural theories surrounding cognitive development can explain the film s meaning well. According to Vygotsky, the interactions a person has between the environment and other human beings determines the learning that takes place. The type of environment that a child grows up in also greatly affects a person throughout life, as well. Vygostky also believed that tutors
  • 11. The Importance Of Lead In Drinking Water Lead is a toxic metal that can accumulate in the body over time and is damaging to health even at low exposure levels, especially for children. According to the EPA, low levels of lead in the blood of children have been linked to central and peripheral nervous system damage, learning disabilities, slowed growth, hearing problems and anemia. The EPA estimates that drinking water can make up 20% or more of a person s total exposure to lead. Recent random testing conducted by Utah state officials found lead in the drinking water of 90% of the sampled schools. 10 of such schools were found to have lead levels exceeding the EPA s safety guideline of 0.15 ppm. Lead may enter drinking water when lead containing plumbing corrodes, which happens at

This company must first seek to look for a decent Human Resource Information System (HRIS) that is better than the one they have since they are looking to expand. They need to make sure whatever software they purchase is able to meet the needs of their Germany and United States locations. Next step is recruiting. H2O needs to make sure that they take into consideration when sending experts to the United States or hiring employees from within the United States. Human Resources should have a budget for employees in areas of payroll, benefits, workers compensation, compliance, exit processes, legal and taxes. All of these things have to be considered. The reason for having an established budget is to ensure new hires are not laid off if H2O has cut costs somewhere else to compensate their employees. Third step H2O needs to consider is training and development. They should ask themselves how they want to train their employees in the United States. Will they do on the job training or will H2O require the employees to have the knowledge and skills by giving them a proficiency and performance test. Establishing a staffing plan from the start is beneficial. All companies should have this. The benefit of a staffing plan is so that you can
  • 13. Education And Its Importance Of Education Erik Olsen Mrs. O Sullivan English II 3 September 2015 Education and Its Importance Education is an important part of US society and all its issues should be recognized and addressed. Unfortunately this is not the case. Education has many issues and the three most important are the day one problem, bullying, and high dropout rates. These issues are often a big problem and can lead to an education that does not do the United States justice. The first issue is the day one problem. This problem states the beginning of a child s life is extremely important for a good education. (Strauss) For example, John has parents who have minimal education, never went to college, and are poor. Therefore, John has a definite disadvantage against other students, who have well educated parents with a higher degree. Because of his disadvantage, he may not perform as well in his classes, as there is no one easily accessible to help. This issue worsens if the child is in a family where both parents work. He must work harder to achieve academic success. (Strauss) His parents cannot help him, so this child is less likely to learn basic concepts in school. How can he? He lacks an adequate support system. (Strauss) This can lead to bad behavior due to frustrations produced by his difficulties. A situation compounded by his parents living conditions, who barely have the money to eat and pay rent. They cannot get books for their child, and libraries while common, may not be as easily accessible
  • 14. Analysis Of We Wear The Mask The title of Dunbar s We Wear the Mask (1896) emphasizes the essential idea of the poem, which is deception and illusion. The title is repeated in all three stanzas. This tells the reader to keep the title in mind while reading the poem. The persona of Dunbar is conveyed to the reader in first person, which has a strong contributed to the message of the poem along with the rhythm and word choice. It shows the repulsive worldDunbar lives in and the masking of his own true emotions throughout the poem. Dunbar s emotional appeal enhances every mood in the poem from the need to hide the true self, to the deep sorrow behind the mask, and to connecting the mask to how humans must lie. In the first stanza, Dunbar uses irony to express what the mask symbolizes. The mask can represent several things from someone hiding behind a false expression to the things people say and do that aren t honest. The main point of the poem which describes the mask as a grin, but can lie . It hides our cheeks and shades our eyes (Line 2) gives the reader a mental picture with the use of imagery. As well, the extra spacing at the beginning of line two emphasizes the word hiding . This mask hides its own existence, of agonizing misery and hardship. Many people put it on to fit into society. When Dunbar says, With torn and bleeding hearts we smile , (Line 4) it explains the worldly power of the mask. The debt we pay to human guile, (Line 3) means the unhappiness they feel is related to them deceiving others. Both lines are hyperboles that emphasize the struggle behind the mask. The figurative language not only shows the theme of discernment, but shows its impact. In addition, applying the words, we and our gives the poem an all inclusive feel which creates an auxiliary meaning. In the second stanza, Dunbar asks a rhetorical question to prove a point. One should not let others make them suffer by hiding all feelings and emotions from society. When he says, Why should the world be overwise, / In counting all our tears and sighs? (Line 6 7), it contradicts the idea that this poem is universal with the phrase the world . Throughout the poem, the time frame of the publication does not shift the poem at all. But one would

Moderating = Pervasiveness of gender discrimination. The variables in the study helped to differentiate the participant s opinions on the female lawyer. In this case, the researchers are only replicating a small part of the study. There were 4 possible dependent variables that were measured. 1) Anger Toward the Target this was measured through statements like I feel angry at Catherine . The higher the score, the greater the amount of anger was expressed. 2) Evaluation of Target participants evaluated the likeability of Catherine by measuring statements like I admire Catherine, I would like to be friends with Catherine . 3) Evaluation of Target s Response This measure addressed evaluations of the target s response to the decision. Before this extract, there s an introduction to the main characters, in keeping with the suspenseful movie genre, showing them play a gamecalled Dungeons and Dragons (D D). This introduction follows a presumed scientist, the main characters playing D D, and the beginning of Will s disappearance. In order to incite suspenseful feelings and include elements of Sci Fi, cinematography and sound design were used. The fact that there isn t sound or dialogue in the sequence and that the monster is never shown greatly increases the scene s suspense. Sound design was utilized to create suspense because the monster is solely heard with over exaggerated growling. Cinematography created suspense by using shots that have low key lighting from eye level angle, and sometimes dramatic high angles, tilting the camera for an upside down POV (Figure 3a). Since the scientist can see what s chasing him, but we can t a mysterious suspense of the unknown is created. The directors and cinematographers intended to make shots suspenseful by focusing solely on distinct parts of the scientist s body, such as his face (Figure 3a), and then pulling into a long shot to show his lower torso being lifted up (Figure 3b). Immediately after that long, suspenseful sequence, the sequence transitions to a serene, rural neighborhood sprinkler. This demonstrates a purposeful discontinuity, in true thriller fashion, with many fluctuations in

None but survivors and witnesses succeed to sense and live the timeless pain of the event which repossesses the core of human psyche. Elie Wiesel and Corrie Ten Boom are two of these survivors who, through their personal accounts, allow the reader to glimpse empathy within the soul and the heart. Elie Wiesel(1928 ), a journalist and Professor of Humanities at Boston University, is an author of 21 books. The most important theme portrayed in Night is defined later by Wiesel himself: The executioner killed for nothing, the victim died for nothing...During the Middle Ages, the Jews, when they chose death, were convinced that by their sacrifice they were glorifying and sanctifying God s name. At Auschwitz, the sacrifices were without point, without faith, without divine inspiration... (Douglas) Wiesel feels that the genocide of WWII came and went and proves no point to the world, gives neither strength nor hope to the individual, and is basically pointless. After the inhumane persecution, his God is not praised by a greater audience, Hitler and his Nazi party does not gain more power, Jews are not respected by others, and the world as a whole is not given reassurance of a better future. To Wiesel, the Holocaust represents nothing but evil, guilt, and the decay of human morality. (Popular World Fiction, II 35) As does Wiesel, Ten Boom preaches of the importance of learning from past mistakes and not recycling a detrimental experience. However, the evangelist in Ten Boom preaches beyond historical remembrance into the depths of spiritual growth. She strongly believes that the world and its creatures are fated by God and that every experience witnessed by an individual is predestined with the purpose of teaching a life lesson. Some may argue that his life was cut short while others may say it was too long. Being a man who fought in World War I and World War II, George S. Patton, Jr. certainly contained a wealth of experience in warfare. Looking at the written history, there were those who seemed to undervalue Patton, as well as those who may have held him much too high. Researchers have many different opinions on Patton s leadership, but the research here will encompass both the positive and the negative aspects of his leadership and surrounding issues while addressing the following questions: 1.How was Patton as a leader? 2.Patton versus Politics Did this hold back his true potential? 3.How was Patton viewed by the Allies and the Axis during World WarII? The research put forth will focus on these three questions. George Smith Patton, Jr. was born November 11, 1885, well over one hundred years ago. He is famously known for somewhat outrageous personality and his conduct as a general during World War II. The family he was born into was wealthy and one with a very extensive military background, with family members having participated in the Revolutionary War, Mexican War, as well as the Civil War. This may explain a little about Patton s almost obsessive study of military history ranging from the Romans to the Napoleonic Wars (CMG Worldwide, Inc., n.d.). He

The role of the instructor and student both change depending on the learning style chosen. Some are better for some students, and others are best due to time restrictions or the material being taught. There is not one strategy that will work for every class, each should be selected specifically for the environment and to fit the student s needs. Similarities The three different learning environments studied have a few similarities. Each type has some form of classroom, an instructor imparting the subject material to the learner, subject material, and expectation of the student will successfully learn the material. Roles and Responsibilities The roles and responsibilities of the teacher in each environment change depending on the environment. Budding out of Italy, this change of society spread throughout Europe and caused a drastic change of culture. One huge difference between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance was the difference of lifestyle and self value. A huge reason for this change was the rise of humanism. The rise of humanism during the Renaissancecaused an increased pursuit of knowledge, less devout religion, and huge growth in the popularity and purchase of art. Humanism began in Florence, Italy. Despite Lehrer s claim of no media bias, both conservatives and liberals believe media bias against them is real. Studies, however, show that this more a question of their own bias rather than that of the journalist, and loss of power in traditional media and changes in public opinion about the press have made it difficult for the press to assert itself as neutral. The westward expansion was not always in the cards for the Americans. The French had mostly settled from the Mississippi River in the east to the Rocky Mountains in the west and from the Gulf of Mexico in the south to the Canadian border in the north. With the Louisiana Purchasethe U.S acquired most of that land. How did this land help define the United Statesof America as a Nation? This essay will discuss the actions leading up to the Acquirement of the Louisiana territory and how it changed America forever. In 1762 France ceded French Louisiana west of the Mississippi River to Spain. The French also transferred almost all of its remaining North American holdings to Britain in 1763. Spain was no longer a dominant country and they did little to develop Louisiana during the next three decades in which they held it. Spain in 1796 allied itself with France causing Britain in a bold move to use its navy to cut off the Spanish from reaching America. The Spanish in 1801 signed in secret, a treaty with France to return Louisiana Territory to France. This set off a series of concerns for the Americans. The Trade Routes And The Spread Of Islam The Malian Trade Routes and the Impact on West Africa Through the Spread of Islam Along These Routes The trade routes of Mali are not as well known as others like the Silk Road, but they were influential in the trade of North Africa and forever influenced history. These trade routes conveyed gold, salt, and, to a lesser extent, copper to empires in the Middle East and Mediterranean. However, the most influential effect of these trade routes was the spread of Islam throughout West and Central Africa. The empire of Mali rose in the early 13th century and soon expanded. The empire controlled all of the main trade routes throughout West Africa, which are collectively referred to as the Malian trade routes. These trade routes were vital to most of the world. Berber traders from northern Africa came along these routes to get gold and salt, vital for the flavoring and more importantly the preservation of food, to trade to the Middle Eastern and Mediterranean empires. In addition, traders from northwestern Africa brought salt along these routes to major trading cities in Mali, to trade to the Berber traders and merchants from Central Africa. Women in China were exceptionally strong despite being persecuted for their gender; Although these women were required by tradition to serve their husbands or bind their feet, they still lived and conquered on. This quote serves to remind that Fu Hao received not only the same treatment as men in China, but also was buried the same way that pharaohs in Egypt were buried. It also speaks wonders to the fact that if her husband did not respect her, she would not be. An additional quote that speaks volumes about this particular issue is, as mothers and mother in laws, a good deal of honor . Something that men need/needed to keep in mind about women was that without a woman, they would not be alive. No matter what society, place, or time period that someone was or is living in, women do have motherhood working in their advantage, and motherhood is not something that will or ever can be taken away from women. Treatment of Gallstones in Cats No Treatment Small gallstones that aren t causing symptoms or digestive problems may not need any treatment. These stones are typically found during an ultrasound for another condition, such as pregnancy. Medication Antibiotics will be prescribed to the cat to clear infections or bacterial complications that are causing the gallstones to form. Antibiotics may also be prescribed before surgery in order to prevent infection from occurring after surgery. Ursodeoxycholic acid may be prescribed twice a day in order to dissolve small gallstones that aren t blocking the bile duct. S Adenosylmethionine, or SAMe, may also be given in order to improve bile production and function of the liver.

After this, Disney and his brother moved to
  • 40. Solitary Confinement, By F. Scott Fitzgerald The documentary, Solitary Confinement, really brings to light the issues that surround this old form of punishment. These tactics were used in the past, and then were eventually regarded as being cruel and inhumane. Somehow, the idea of solitary confinement has returned and is respected among many people. I believe that there are some people who do need to be put in solitary confinement and some who shouldn t have to go through that psychological pain. The movie did shine some perspective on to me, as i had not nearly any clue as to what really went down behind those walls. First of all, at Colorado State Penitentiary, they call it administrative segregation rather than solitary confinement. This is because their goal is supposedly, just to cut them off from physical contact until they are determined to be safe around other people. The feelings projected by the men being interviewed in the documentary tie in with the feelings that Stanley Tookie Williams expressed in his book, Life in Prison . All of the inmates, including Stanley, acknowledged that solitary confinement, or the hole, causes people to go crazy. Stanley complained of the small cells and how it made many men go stir crazy. In the film, they showed exactly how small the cells are and the limited room for activity that the inmates have. The images in the documentary of the men getting strip searched further supported Stanley s statements regarding the embarrassment of strip searches. It showed one of the men

From the works of the French Aquitanian and Champagnian troubadours, the framework/ideals of fin amour grew and spread throughout Europe, reaching the courts of Britain. As the conception of fin amour became increasingly popular amongst the literature of the aristocracy, writers such as, Andreas Capellanus wrote of the stages and rules of courtly love. Inspired by this movement in the culture and literature of court, the poet Marie de Francecomposed a collection of romantic lays. In the Breton Lays , Marie presents her narratives as a guide for courtly lovers. For, each lay exhibits the problems, consequences, and rewards that can occur if a lady or knight does/or does not follow the three principles of fin amour which, as explained by the scholars Jeri S. Guthrie (1976) and F.R.P Akehurst (1995), include mezura (to have self restraint and patience in love, to have discretion within an affair), joven (to be spontaneous in love, to woo with grand gestures and gifts), and cortezia (to follow the moral and societal rules of court). The first standard of courtly love Marie de France presents within The Breton Lays is mezura. Through the narratives of Lanval and Yonec , Marie reinforces the importance mezura plays in maintaining a courtly affair; she shows that being open about a relationship can lead to disaster. In the story of Lanval , Lanval breaks the principle of mezura by rashly exposing his affair with the amie to Queen Guinevere. When Guinevere propositions

In contrast, Sade often remained silent save for his occasional polarizing arguments with Marat which solidified his position as a creator rather than just an another character. Furthermore, his ability to physically pace and project a louder presence in contrast to Marat within the performance space highlights an another aspect of power separation between the two central characters. I believe that such displays of power inequality amongst characters such as Sade and Marat could be further explored through the cage like setting stated earlier. One can interpret based on this factor that every day is a new opportunity for something tragic to happen. This here is the message that Billie Joe Armstrong is trying to convey to us all. He wants us to realize that all though we live happy at times, there is always something dark waiting to approach at any time with unpredictable outcome. A second example based on this observation can be the terror attack that happened recently on Friday when a bombing occurred in a London train underground that injured 30 passengers on board. And furthermore, a second man was arrested a couple days later due to the fact that he too was also affiliated with the incident as well according to officers. In addition to the topic, Billie Joe Armstrong states about love and peace and how it s impossible for such thing like that to occur, What good is love and peace on earth? When it s exclusive? , as if he were trying to say that it would have to take a miracle for the world to resolve from this. Many people have experienced moments when others are made fun of or times when people fight for various reasons such as an argument.

Memphis International Airport ( Mem ) The following paper explores how Memphis International Airport (MEM), the world s second busiest cargo shipping airport, handles its day to day operations involving passenger airlines in conjunction with FedEx commercial shipping. By comparing DOT and FAA reports, along with the airlines and FedEx s shipping statistics, an airport capacity and congestion problem is disproved. Since Delta closed down their MEM hub, passenger air travel has dramatically decreased while cargo shipping has continued to steadily climb. Other airlines have started offering services in and out of MEM but were only able to increase passenger travel by 1%, in 2014. • 51. Student Athletes For The University Of Ohio Secondly, for student athletes who practice a sport and attend classes, it is often difficult to complete both tasks. Many students begin to show less motivation making it harder to stay focus and attend their required classes. This is the case of student athlete Cardale Jones, a quarterback for the Universityof Ohio. After taking his sociology final exam, he commented that coming to class was pointless when his only responsibility was to play football for the university (Tracy 1). Studentathletes start to show poor academic achievement when they consume a lot of time in their sports and often forget about their role of being a student. For instance, when students are not able to complete their school assignments during the day they decide to study late and do not sleep the necessary hours they need in order for their bodies to function and their brains to focus. In this case, the poor achievement in students is notable because they do not perform well in school and do not have a good nutrition. They often do not have time to eat the required three meals a day that their bodies need. The poor academic achievement is often noticeable when many coaches begin to tell their athletes that they are not allowed to take classes that interfere with practice. This puts athletes in a barrier when they have to balance the two roles of responsibility of attending class and completing homework assignments and attending the games. Student athletes have a poor mental and physical body

However in the Dominican culture, the curse of the Fuku is life or death. If you are cursed with it you and your family will receive bad luck for all your lives. The Brief Wondrous Life Of Oscar Wao is a story about a Dominican family, the Cabrals, who receive this curse and the text follows the horrors they experience. Over one hundred years later there is still a debate over what caused the explosion on the Maine and ultimately led the United States to war with Spain. The debate of the USS Maines destruction is over whether the explosion came from inside the ship, the internal explosion theory, or came from an outside the ship, the external explosion theory. Most of these arguments are focused on the cause of the explosion, whether a fire broke out on board or if a perpetrator, either the Spanish or Cuban rebels caused the explosion. • 54. The Healthsouth Corporation Inc. INTRODUCTION The HealthSouth Corporation was started in 1984 by Richard Scrushy with hopes of becoming one of the largest healthcare companies in the country. It was doing quite well by 1996 with a market value of nearly $12 billion and was one of the United States largest healthcare firms. This all fell apart in 2003 when it was discovered that Scrushy and his employees had committed fraud in the estimated range of almost $2.7 billion (Daigle, Louwers and Morris 887). Scrushy, over the years, had brought on many new faces to the company. Many of these employees were friends of Scrushy from previous business ventures and business meetings. These employees and the others involved in the fraud were given the name family ; highly due to the fact that they all knew what was happening and not one wanted to go to the authorities to confess. It was after the fraud had gone on for nearly six years that the former CFO Weston Smith tipped off federal investigators. Following the actions by Smith, the four other CFO s who ran the company during the fraud came forward which included: Aaron Beam Jr., Michael Martin, Malcom McVay, and then current CFO William Owens. Along with the CFO s their staff members who were also in on the fraud also came forward bringing the total number of involved to fifteen. Also the Birmingham Alabama office of Ernst Youngcame under heavy scrutiny for auditing HealthSouth during the fraud and failing to take action on any evidence they found.
