David Robert Mitchell s It Follows
In It Follows, director David Robert Mitchell combines the tale of ordinary adolescents coming to age
with a shapeshifting antagonist, as he masterfully blends the paradoxical topics of youthful, romantic
realism and paranormal horror. While more subtle than the stereotypical slasher horror film, exploring
loftier themes such as existentialism, sexual socialization, mortality, and sexual morality, it never
strays from its main purpose: bringing fear and terror to the audience. Mitchell uses a number of
ambitious and creative techniques to navigate this movie of contrast, none more prevalent or important
than his use of diegetic and non diegetic sound. The natural sound, sound effects, and music set the
tone and mood of It Follows from beginning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only is there a conflicting dissonance between the diegetic and non diegetic sound as discussed
previously, this element is equally present within the incidental music itself. Quite frequently a single
beat or rhythm is introduced and subsequently grouped with differing, often incongruent beats, sound
effects, noises, and tones. Combining a huge assortment of audio techniques, varying greatly in style,
tone, and tempo, the background score is erratic and unpredictable and it injects the film with a
volatile, unrelenting feel. Futuristic melodies, distorted and muffled noise, screeching static sounds,
pulsating beats, siren like music, pounding, banging, grating, and soft, echoing tunes are all combined
and jumbled together at different times, never letting the audience get comfortable with anything it
hears. This effect is amplified by suddenly starting and stopping, changing speeds, and alternating
levels of volume to the already perplexing and unnerving soundtrack. These strategies, much like the
foreboding antagonist, constantly remind the audience of the looming, impending doom the characters
face, even in the safest of settings and in the most mundane

The Relationship between Customer Satisfaction and Brand Loyalty
Abstract
This study attempts to examine the impact of customer service (retail service quality and product
quality) on brand loyalty. It focuses on the particular aspects of customer service: personal interaction,
policy, reliability, and problem solving. Data will be collected through an in person survey and an on
line survey immediately following the purchase or visit to the store or website. Another survey will be
administered shortly after the customer obtains the product and has a chance to experience it. By
contributing to the overall knowledge of customer service and brand loyalty, this research adds
significant, valuable information on marketing to customers in ... Show more content on

Scientific Research Design
The two types of investigation that would be needed is a field study interviewing customers
immediately after their visit to a retail establishment and an on line survey after the computer user
visited the website. In both surveys, questions regarding customer service will be asked. They would
inquire as to the details that pertained to their specific opinion of that day s retail service quality. The
service quality could be questioned immediately after the persons shopping experience; whether in
person as they exited the store or on line, which should help with their ease of recall. Questions would
pertain to reliability, problem solving, and their personal interaction, as well as the store policies.
Personal interaction would be determined by using a graded scale of the customer s perception of their
attitude, problem solving, and overall care by the sales professional.
For the on line shopper, the questionnaire would differ. It would ask the customer to grade the ease of
the transaction and the ability to maneuver throughout the website. The software would be graded
instead of a sales person. Policy would be determined by inquiring about attitudes of the consumer of
in store or on line payment methods, order timing and shipping methods, and the handling of special
orders. In both types of surveys, questions would be asked pertaining to their brand loyalty in the past.
The same graded scale would be used in

The article Controversial Blackness: The Historical Development Future Trajectory of African
American Studies, was written by Martha Biondi, a European Associate Professor of African
American Studies and History at Northwestern University.
Martha Biondi (2011), discusses the trajectory, development, growth, training, history, of African
American studies, and the expansion of doctoral programs of African American studies necessary for
the future trajectory in that field. The article further examines the fields in black colleges, as well as
predominantly European institutions and challenge these institutions for the incorporation of African
American studies.

Alexander s question: But has the mission of African American studies changed in other ways? (p
227)
The group agrees that post racial discourse is not recognized and that it is very important to have the
skills and abilities to address such issues, whether social, economic, cultural, and political.
Biondi states that, Arguably the most exciting development for African studies in the twenty first
century is the expansion of doctoral programs. The opportunity to train young scholars can only add to
the growth, rigor and institutional stature of the field, (p 235).
Darwin . Turner, dean of the graduate school at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State
University, argued that the academic turn away from blackness merged from the optimism spawned by
early legal decisions supporting desegregation, the defeat of Fascism, and postwar affluence, (p 228).
Although the article has good points, the article did not mention solutions for the struggles,
challenges, and dilemmas of African American students on campus and the future trajectory for
African American studies. I know that it is very difficult to predict what changes will be in the future
for the trajectory of the African American Studies program. However, the article did bring insight for
other researchers as an opportunity to cultivate solidarity and sharpen and update its analysis of racism
in the United States (p 235).

our fractions on paper with crayons, labeling them with number fractions and written words (1/4 or
one quarter, five twentieths or 5/20) as we figure out each fraction.
We then eat our fractions!
12. As a final formative assessment or reflection, the kids are each given a sticky note and asked to

I have grouped the children into both mixed ability and ability groups for this activity. At step 11

Identity in E.L. Doctorow s Ragtime Essay example
Identity in E.L. Doctorow s Ragtime
Written almost thirty years ago, describing an age far removed from its own, E.L. Doctorow s novel
Ragtime nevertheless explores issues of identity and ethnicity that still face America in spite of its
lofty ideals of individualism and diversity. It displays for the reader a rich and hypnotic portrayal of
the soul of immigrant America, yet still fails to avoid ethnic bias in certain subtle ways. Whether the
lapses into feelings of cultural superiority originate from the purposeful portrayal of the characters
Doctorow created or without the author s conscious prior awareness, a careful reading of the text will
reveal them. In this way, these same assumptions and prejudices test our ... Show more content on

There were no immigrants (Doctorow 4). What follows quickly after is the voice of truth and reason in
the text, expressed through the fictional re representation of the anarchist Emma Goldman, who shows
white culture that Apparently there were Negroes. There were immigrants (Doctorow 5).
Despite this laudable cultural advancement, the author s meaning of the term immigrant takes place
within a very limited context. Asians and indigenous peoples are not invited in Ragtime; while black
America is given a voice through the stubborn and noble Coalhouse and the eloquent Booker T.
Washington, and the Eastern European immigrant community is given a rich and touching voice
through Tateh and his daughter, Doctorow never ventured far enough along to include Asians in his
spectrum of ethnic narrative. Just like the Oriental silk cushions that made Houdini feel so trapped in
Father s home, they are deprived of a true voice.
Great lengths are taken by Doctorow to empathize with the Eastern European immigrant community.
With great emotion, he describes Father s impression of an immigrant ship, decidedly of a European
identity because of the head shawls that the women wore (Doctorow 14). With an emotion that belies
the author s role as third person omniscient, he argues eloquently against this ethnic group being
wrongly stigmatized as being lost within moral

Female Genital Cutting Effects
Female genital cutting is a practice that removes the external genitalia, often the clitoris, of young
girls for traditional reasons. Today there are more than 100 million women and girls affected by this
practice. Scholars find that female genital cutting is highly concentrated in Africa. Many researchers
have found evidence supporting economic, social and health consequences related to female genital
cutting. As far as health consequences, there have been an abundant amount of research conducted on
sexual difficulties and reproductive issues related to the practice. What researchers have not focused
on is the cognitive development of people affected by female genital cutting. Throughout this
research, the question presented, does female genital ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

towards education, especially with the threat of anxiety and depression and other illnesses

Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder Essay
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common childhood disorders that
develops in children and becomes apparent in the preschool, early school years and continue through
adolescence and adulthood. It is one of the rising public health concerns which is characterized by
inappropriate levels of inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity. The world wide prevalence rate was
estimated as 5.29 %. (Polanczyk 2007). Prevalent rates are higher at 12 years. It also affects school
performance and interpersonal relationship. (Hokenberry 2006).
ADHD affects an estimated 3% to 5% of all school aged children. The ratio of boys to girls ranges
from 3:1 in non clinical settings to 9: 1 in clinical settings. (Gaut and Carlson ... Show more content

The complex etiology of ADHD most likely involves genetic and environmental factors. Studies have
found strong genetic influences and familial transmission. Magnetic Resonance Imaging studies have
identified differences in brain function among ADHD clients. Other factors for ADHD includes family
history of ADHD, Male relatives with antisocial personality disorder or alcoholism, female relatives
with somatisation disorder, lower socioeconomic status, Marital or family discord, including divorce,
neglect, abuse, or parental deprivation, low birth weight and various kinds of brain insult.
ADHD is a common, highly heritable neurodevelopmental disorder. Rare copy number variations,
such as chromosomal deletions or duplications, have been implicated in ADHD and
neurodevelopmental disorder. ( Jarick 2014) This is most likely associated with abnormalities in
catecholamine s and possibly serotonin metabolism. Having first degree relatives with ADHD have
increased the risk for the disorder by 4 to 6 times that of the general population. Some studies revealed
that alterations in specific areas of brain in individuals have more risk of children with ADHD. These
regions include the prefrontal lobes, basal ganglia, caudate nucleus, globus pallidus, and cerebellum.
Brain image of people with ADHD have suggested decreased metabolism in the frontal region of
brain, which is essential for attention, impulse control, organisation, and sustained goal

Speech On Abandoned Children
There are many reasons for the large number of abandoned children in India. The children can be
unwanted (mostly girls), illegitimate or orphans due to diseases. The children have to be taken care of
one way or the other. Orphan children are the deprived and the isolated population deserving special
attention to become healthy and responsible children, physically fit, mentally alert and morally healthy
endowed with the skills and the motivation needed by society. UNICEF and global partners define an
orphan as a child who has lost one or both parents. An estimated 31 million children in India, aged 0
17 years, are orphaned and abandoned according to the most recent statistics from UNICEF.
Proper family environment plays an important role in the life of children. Nobody can deny the
important role of parents in developing balanced and harmonious development of personality. But
unfortunately cruel fortune deprives some children of the sympathetic affectionate parental care.
These children are known as orphaned children. An orphan is a child permanently bereaved of his or
her parents. In common usages, an orphan does not have any surviving parent to care for him or her.
Because of parental deprivation some children are reared in destitute homes and in orphanages. This
group of children is termed as institutionalised orphan children. These ... Show more content on

Mary Barton By Elizabeth Gaskell Analysis
Ever hear the phrase, you have to read in between the lines? Authors commonly include broad
metaphors in their works in order for each reader to have their own interpretations of the topic. In this
passage, Mary Barton, written by Elizabeth Gaskell, George Wilson, a worker, goes to the house of
Mr. Carson, who is the owner of the mill where he is employed. He makes this trip to request help for
another worker who is dying of typhus. Gaskell was able to show a clear depiction of social
differences between a town that is heading toward poverty and a wealthy family living in opulence,
allowing her reader to understand the clear message she was writing. Because of Gaskell s close
selection of detail, shiftment of point of view, and inclusion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the conversation between Thomas and Wilson, one can see that Thomas speaks less properly
compared to the individual he is interacting with. The dialogue reveals that Thomas has an accent with
words such as, mysel instead of myself th instead of the and ha instead of have. A widespread belief is
that the lack of money is equivalent to the lack of an education, which is displayed to be true within
this section of the passage. The stereotypical way to show others one has money is to speak like it,
Thomas obviously demonstrates that he was not taught this manner. Also in this conversation, Wilson
had not said a word. Readers are lead to believe this was in his perspective, but in actuality his silence
shows it was third person. Wilson and Thomas represent those who grew up in poverty, they either are
taught the English language inaccurately or they are taught to be quiet. The difference between social
classes will always stay as a dominant universal theme within novels, stories, and plays. In Mary
Barton, the contrasted is depicted through her implied metaphors and detailed illustrations. Her
characters, the Carson s, exhibit the misguided acceptance that those in poverty are simple to abandon
and easy to replace. Elizabeth Gaskell is able to compare and contrast the groups of people with her
flawless diction,

The Leader Of The Anabaptist Movement
For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. This quote
from 1 Corinthians 3:11 appeared in many of his works and points to the Christ centeredness of his
theology (Machiel). This verse reflected on what he believed and the entire movement that he led
during his time. He made huge contributions to the Anabaptist movement and later became their
leader. Menno Simons lived from 1496 1559, during his life of 63 years he was a man of many
different things like being a priest, leader of the Anabaptists, a husband and a father. Very little is
unknown about Simon s childhood except for that he grew up in a very poor peasant environment with
his mother and father. His parents were most likely to have been dairy farmers (Machiel). He married
and had three children after he left the Roman Catholic Church. When he was training to become a
priest he learned Latin and some Greek and he never read the bible before or during his training
because he didn t want it to influence his Catholic beliefs. It is not exactly known where Simons may
have received his training but it was probably in a nearby monastery (Machiel). When he was finished
with his training he was ordained as a Roman Catholic priest in 1524 at Utrecht. For twelve years he
was a Roman Catholic priest and for the first seven years he severed as parish priest in his fathers
village of Pingjum and later for five years in Witmarsum where he was born. Later on in his life he

A Deconstructionist Critique of Chopin’s The Awakening Essay
A Deconstructionist Critique of Chopin s The Awakening
The multiplicity of meanings and (re)interpretations informing critical studies of The Awakening
reveal a novel ripe for deconstructionist critique. Just as Chopin evokes an image of the sea as
symbolic of Edna s shifting consciousness ( never ceasing, whispering, clamoring, murmuring,
inviting the soul to wander in abysses of solitude, 138), likewise the deconstructionist reading of a text
emphasizes fluidity over structure: A text consists of words inscribed in and inextricable from the
myriad discourses that inform it; from the point of view of deconstruction, the boundaries between
any given text and that larger text we call language are always shifting, (297). From this ... Show more

In her attempt to uncover the grain running against the grain in Chopin s novel, Patricia Yaeger
dismantles conventional approaches to The Awakening that regard the work as an emancipatory text
by virtue of its rebellious, adulterous heroine alone. Using Tony Tanner s analysis of Edna s infidelity
as belonging to the tradition of transgressive narratives, highlighted in his work, Adultery in the
Novel, Yaeger conversely emphasizes how Chopin s development of the romance plot between Edna
and Robert supports rather than subverts patriarchy. Although Edna credits Robert with [awakening]
me last summer out of a life long, stupid dream, her love for him interrupts rather than inspires her
awakening, for Edna has simply jumped from the shelter of Leonce s money and the social stability he
affords to the school girl fantasy of romantic love Robert represents. In each relationship, whether
financially or emotionally, Edna remains dependent upon a man, but more significantly, men exist as
the mirror through which Edna perceives herself. Without Robert, Edna forfeits the life she began to
construct for herself, as well as the burgeoning female subjectivity awakened the summer before.
Though Yaeger unveils the social acquiescence underlying the romance plot as distorting what most
scholars identify as Edna s social defiance, she unearths emancipatory strategies within Chopin s text
that prove far more

Ideas In Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Language is fundamental when it comes to building relationships and putting ideas into action. Buffy
the Vampire Slayer features several themes that are difficult to notice immediately because of how

the fictional town of Sunnydale have their voices taken away by demons who are called the

Methodology
I initially wished to conduct the study on the basis of informal interactions of interviews. Prior
experience had taught me that it is rare that participants of the study are extremely comfortable
answering a lengthy questionnaire. Therefore I wanted to do away with the questionnaire. But senior
employees of Akshara made me realise that it might not be such a bad idea to get a basic

It was however, the informal interactions that taught me the most. I was glad that I could meet both

replaced by a hollow wooden tube. Laennec named his invention the stethoscope . In the 1890s, the
hollow wooden tube was replaced by the rubber and now plastic, binaural stethoscope, much like
stethoscopes that are used today. These stethoscopes have two ear pieces and a bell like end that is
placed on the body. Stethoscopes are not only used to listen to the chest but also other parts of the
body such as the bowels and during pregnancy. Electronic stethoscopes that amplify the sounds in the
chest and produce graphs were first produced in the 1970s and continue to be refined. Science

Jean Piaget s Theory Of Education
Psychologists Jean Piaget s and Lev Vygotsky s contributions to our knowledge about cognitive
development and learning, forms the foundations of modern education. Both men s work was
revolutionary for their times, underpinning the transformative shift to a constructivist way of thinking,
which emerged as the most significant influence on education of the 21st Century (James Bader,
2002). Piaget, was the first psychologist to investigate the world from the perspective of the child,
determining that children and adults had different cognitive processes, while Vygotsky, formed the
influential Social cultural Development Theory. As evident in the example of Mr Gina and Miss Van,
despite criticisms, both men s work and the extensive research ... Show more content on

Wood et al (1976) found it to be the most effective method of teaching for children when observing
mother child interaction. Furthermore, Palincsar and Brown (1984,1989) in their adoption and
application of Vygotsky s scaffolding, social interaction and use of language in their reciprocal
teaching approach, provide support for the theory. Analysis Both Piaget and Vygotsky s theories are
evident within the modern classroom. Mr Gina within his high school classroom, has adopted various
practices of Mrs Van primary classroom to engage and improve the learning of his students. These
practices are heavily influenced by Piaget and Vygotsky s theories and their foundations in
constructivism, which emphasises the active role of the learner in development. Piaget s proposed
process of cognitive development adaptation , through equilibrium is evident within the classroom.
Adaptation is the process by which we adjusting our ideas and knowledge to new situations through
the modification of pre existing or new schemas (Duchesne and McMaugh, 2016). Mr Gina uses
groups of 1 4 students and encourages them to talk, engage and share their opinions even if they are
unsure, as well as utilising an independent learning centres on class topics, a reading corner and
knowledge space. Within her classroom Miss Van would be employing a

Analysis Of The Play Hamilton
The play Hamilton by Lin Manuel Miranda brings the founding fathers back to life with a lot of hip
hop. It all started when Miranda, a writer, composer, and performer, was asked to perform at the White
House centered on the American experience. The White House expected him to perform something
based on his own Latin American experience, but Miranda had something else in mind. Few months
prior, Miranda was on vacation with his girlfriend when he started to read a biography on Alexander
Hamilton by Ron Chernow. Miranda was seized by the story of Hamilton. He was instantly inspired to
create a work chronicling Hamilton s life. He started to see Hamilton s relentlessness, ambition,
intelligence, and stubbornness through his own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Monteiro states how she has seen the play, and loved it as a whole, but there were many issues with
how history was conveyed. Monteiro goes on to explain how the play does a lot of a thing called
Founders chic as a representational strategy. She points out that the play tried to represent founders as
relatable, cool guys. For example, the Founders chic strategy downplayed the involvement of the
Founding Fathers in slavery. The play did mention how slavery existed, and how Alexander Hamilton
was in opposition to it, but we had no idea on how his attitude was when he was a boy growing up in
the Caribbean. Alexander Hamilton worked on slave ship, making the chances that he was one
favorable to it a possibility. Miranda s point in contrast to that was to showcase the emotions rather
than substance. He was trying to image Alexander Hamilton s life, and how abolition of slavery was a
big part of shaping his life. In contrast to the idea of the play having inaccurate historical facts,
Miranda tried to make the play relatable to the people to really showcase Alexander Hamilton s life.
Miranda used the bootstraps narrative to help portray that. He talks about how Hamilton reminded him
of his own father, Luis A. Miranda, Jr., who, as a graduated from college before turning eighteen, who
then moved to New York to pursue his studies. In Review: Hamilton, Young Rebels Changing History
and Theater by Ben Brantley, he states how

Values Of American Values
We the people of the United States, value nothing of importance and take a great deal of what they
have for granted. There are many things that Americans value and a few really are positive values, but
definitely not all American values are important. All of these values have something in common
though and that is they all are based off of how other people see each other. These values are money,
possessions, physical features, religion, and how Americans idolize celebrities and view social status.
Something that almost all Americans value the most is money. Money, everyone needs it and everyone
wants more of it, no matter how much they already have. Americans do tend to be greedy and want all
the money they can receive because without money you can t obtain something in this country. This is
negative because it shows that Americans always want more. But there is a little bit of positive in this
because it encourages people to get out and work so they can make more money. Money is something
that all Americans want, and it is negative or something like that

According to the model the IT Monarchy style allows IT executives to hold the right to make
important IT decisions. A more affective mechanism could be put in place by AC in the form of an IT
leadership council that includes corporate and business unit CIOs.
What do questions 1 2 tell us about IT governance at CS? Is it appropriately structured for this kind of
decision?
As mentioned above, AC and Canadian Shield both reflect signs of the IT Monarchy style of IT
governance. It appears that by letting the same IT manager that helped create the existing problematic
information system called ALPHA spearhead the project of finding its replacement was a conflict of
interest.
In an industry that is heavily dependent on gaining a competitive advantage through operational
efficiencies and consistently delivering value added projects to the customer, it is essential for AC and
CS to rethink the current corporate governance model.
Across almost all of the major IT governance categories, it seems that CS and AC are either lacking
elements completely or lagging behind current IT standards significantly. IT principles or high level
statements about how to use technology to create business value is non existent in the Canadian Shield
philosophy statement and hard to identify within the case write up by the authors. Furthermore, the
corporate IT infrastructure and architecture has become so archaic that the

Imagery Of The Negro And Its Powerful Effect On Black...
Destructive images and negative rhetoric became powerful representation of blacks that began to
disseminate across the world as early as the colonial years of settlement of the late 16th century. The
Negro s representation of being destructive and negative was by far the catalyst that fueled whites
with hatred for the African and these representations are considered powerful because it is the images
themselves that further made it possible to allow white people to justify the cruel treatment of the
Negro in America. Throughout history the Negro has also suffered from vagrancy laws, the black
codes, and Jim crow (segregation) but nothing seemed to compare to the black image of inferiority
that proved to be the most successful tool of propaganda within the institution of racism. Images such
as servile, primitive, and simpleminded just to name a few were used to degrade Africans and it is
these images that have influenced the dialog of the black leaders throughout history. My argument will
discuss the psychological effects of such negative imagery of the Negro and its powerful effect on
black leaders such as Dubois, Washington, and Woodson. The psychological effects of negative
imagery were powerful enough that many black activist and civil rights leaders in their responses
discuss the conditions of the black race that addressed such powerful representation that many negroes
conformed to. In the arguments of DuBois, Washington, and Woodson I will show how the negative

Egypt Vs Persia Research Paper
,Long ago there were two great empires: Egypt, and Persia. Both had great power, but lead completely

was a large empire who s society flourished due to its large military. Many people may argue that
Persia s great military made them a better empire to live in, yet there are many facts in favor of Egypt,
such as their lifestyle, treatment of citizens, and values. While Persia may have been strong, the reason
that Egypt was a better society to live in is because Egypt had more respect for women, valued their

The Talented Prokofiev And Beethoven Essay
Samantha Davis MUSIC 1302 Professor Eldridge The Talented Prokofiev and Beethoven Throughout
history, many musicians and composers made a great impact on the musical world as we know it
today. Some of the greats were Sergei Prokofiev and Beethoven. Even though they came in different
time periods, they both made a huge impact on the musical world. Sergei Prokofiev was a 20th
century Russian composer. His father, Sergei Alekseievich Prokofiev, was an agriculturalist and his
mother, Mariya Zitkova, was a self taught pianist. Since his mother was a pianist, he found the love
for music at a young age. Prokofiev composed his first opera at the age of 9, and when he was around
13 years old, Prokofiev attended St. Petersburg Conservatory to study composition. Prokofiev wrote in
many genres including ballets, operas, symphonies, and even film music. He has played and lived in
many countries including Russia, America, and Itlay. Throughout his career, many of Prokofiev s
work brought him great recognition. However, his Piano Concerto No. 3(1921) marked one of the
peaks of his dynamic national style. This concerto was dedicated to his friend Boris Bashkirov.
Prokofiev s Piano Concerto No. 3 was written during the time when he wandered from Russia because
of the Bolshevik Revolution. This piece is the most carefully crafted of his early Concertos. The
structure is one movement, the music is tonal, and it is the shortest of Prokofiev s concertos. It

Bat Guano Research Paper
Bats aren t dangerous creatures by nature, but that doesn t make them everyone s favourite
houseguests. Living with bats brings potentially harmful side effects. Find out more about bat
infestation dangers that could harm your household, and learn what to do if you have bats living in
your home.
1. Bat Guano
Are you wondering how dangerous it is to have bat guano in the attic? It s one of the biggest
consequences of finding bats in the home because their droppings contain several harmful viruses.
A few bats in the home can slowly turn into a full blown colony, which results in a larger pile of guano
in the home and around their exits and entrances. This can increase the chance of the airborne fungus
Histoplasma capsulatum being carried throughout the home. You might end up inadvertently breathing
it in through natural air circulation.

External Damage
Interior damage isn t your only concern: Your home s exterior may require mending. If you find milky
white stains on roofing, shingles, and brick, it s bat urine, and it requires a thorough clean up.
One feature of bat anatomy includes a greasy, oily coat trail, which covers their fur in a smooth gloss.
This oily residue leaves a mark around entry points. If you found rub marks around entrances, they
may be slightly sticky, covered in bat hairs, and appear to be a yellow brown or black colour.
Bats find any way possible to enter a home through the roof, the chimney, and even the vents. This can
damage your home s integrity, in addition to creating costly repairs. For a closer look, use a ladder
around the home. You ll likely see piles of guano or urine in one area, and grease stains around
crevices and cracks. This is clear evidence of a bat entry and exit point.
Broken shingles and loose boards make it easy to slip inside, while creating a bigger problem for you
to fix. Regular home maintenance is important for reducing the likelihood of bats entering the home.

What Is Graph Theoretical Analysis
1.3.4. Introduction to graph theoretical analysis. The case of brain perfusion SPECT.
In the field of quantitative neuroimaging, graph theoretical analysis is one of the methods to study
brain connectivity [93 95, 100, 101]. A key concept of this method is the notion of topology. This
concept can be illustrated with a simple idea which is used when we travel in the subway of any large
city. In figure 3 two maps of the London subway appear, the first map shows a precise spatial
description of the railways (or lines) through which trains travel (i.e., the subway topography),
whereas the second one is only concerned with the relative locations of subway stations and
connecting lines (i.e., the subway topology). These two maps do not coincide with regards to the
relative position of the stations, neither in the distances nor in the location of the lines. However, the
topological map simplifies the problem for the traveler. For example, two stations may be physically
(topographically) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By simply inspecting the topological maps, it is not easy to know if one subway is better organized
than the other (e.g., subway efficiency). One way to simplify this problem is to use metrics that
quantify or analyze the subway network using graph theory [94, 101]. Hence the name of graph
theoretical analysis.
A first aspect to measure could be how easy it is to travel between any two stations (e.g. the number of
stations on average, between the start and end of the trip). This aspect is relevant, especially if the
traveler wants to visit different parts of the city on the same day. This example illustrates the concept
of global efficiency of a graph [94, 101]. The metric of global efficiency is a way to quantify the
global connectivity (integration) of the network. In this example, it is assumed that the number of
stations (nodes) and lines (connectors) are the same in the two subways that are

Human Social Perception Of Social Psychology
Human Social Perception in Empirical Literature
Human social perception is area of study within social psychology that involves the complex cognitive
system that is personal to each individual. Since each person has a unique cognitive system,
interpretation of social situations is unique to each individual. The differences in cognition and
perception between different people allows for varied interpretations, accurate perceptions, and
misperceptions. Social perception is an interesting topic that has been largely researched by a
multitude of social psychologists. The goal of this paper is to provide a brief description of social
psychology, a summary of social perception, some of its forms and uses, misperception, and accuracy
in perception.
Brief Description of Social Psychology
Social psychology is the scientific field that focuses on the individual within society. Due to this
individualistic focus, people are often studied experimentally within or in relation to social
environments. Social psychology studies the effects of social processes and cognitive processes on the
way individuals perceive, influence, and relate to others, in a systematic way, using scientific methods
(Smith Mackie, 2007). Due to the complexity of the human body and mind, social psychology is a
vast field that has been explored by many experts. As social creatures, people interact constantly
within an environment that requires complex cognitive and perceptual processes. As a result, the

The Pros And Cons Of Slavery In British New York
Slavery in New York under the English rule, compared to the Dutch, was different in the way that
slaves were tolerated, treated and had the ability to be free. The Dutch had a fairer attitude and were
open to helping the slaves find their freedom. On the other hand, when the English took over New
York, their guidelines for the slaves dehumanized them and put legal restrictions around them. Under
the British rule, slaves were treated harshly and weren t allowed to integrate with the other colonists,
compared to the Dutch who were more tolerant and allowed the slaves to have some legal rights.
The British came up with many laws that restricted and oppressed the slaves for their benefit, some of
these laws included, that slaves couldn t own land, couldn t leave their masters houses, and couldn t
gather in a group of more than 3, and if they did, they would be abused, killed or have their limbs cut
off. However, the most important law that essentially ended freeing enslaved people was this, no
enslaved person could be freed without the master paying a £200 bond and promising to pay the
enslaved person £20 a year for life, (UNIT THREE: NEW YORK Resource 21: Laws Affecting Black
Colonials in British New York). This basically assured that the slave s freedom was determined by the
master, which practically made it impossible. According to, Looking at Slavery in New York, Table 3,

The War Between Mexico And The United States Essay
Following eleven years of struggle, Mexico finally achieved its independence from Spain in
September of 1827. Yet over the next 40 years, Mexico would see nearly half of its lands lost from
circumstances both in its control and those that were not. Fundamental in the structuring of the events
that occurred were the altercations between Mexico and the U.S., chiefly speaking the cessation of
Texas from Mexico, the war between Mexico and the United States, and the Gadsden Purchase. These
proceedings crippled an already weakened nation, and set in motion a tortuous path for the nation that
still exists to this very day. The internal and external strife from these three events left Mexico s ties
with the United States diminished, a long lasting alienation of Mexican Americans within the U.S.
boundaries, its people torn asunder by the continuance of combat, both abroad and on its native soil.
Mexico had many difficulties in beginning its life as a new nation, much the same as the United States
did when it achieved independence from England. Freed from the bondage of colonized society,
Mexico was eager to commerce in the capitalistic idealisms as seen in American societies. As such,
Mexico invited American citizens into its new republic in order to learn how to industrialize, infuse
American spirit into its domain, and open channels of commerce with its north American brethren.
Had the venture succeeded, this would have brought to Mexico the infrastructure it required to

investigate how gender is represented through interaction, and therefore be seen as natural, while it s
being produced as a socially organised achievement . Femininity and masculinity are viewed as
prototypes of essential expression something that can be conveyed in any social situation and yet
something that strikes at the most basic characterisation of the individual (1976, p. 75). These are seen
as meaningful behaviour which are evidence of our essential natures . Goffman (1979, p. 69 70)

  • 2. David Robert Mitchell s It Follows In It Follows, director David Robert Mitchell combines the tale of ordinary adolescents coming to age with a shapeshifting antagonist, as he masterfully blends the paradoxical topics of youthful, romantic realism and paranormal horror. While more subtle than the stereotypical slasher horror film, exploring loftier themes such as existentialism, sexual socialization, mortality, and sexual morality, it never strays from its main purpose: bringing fear and terror to the audience. Mitchell uses a number of ambitious and creative techniques to navigate this movie of contrast, none more prevalent or important than his use of diegetic and non diegetic sound. The natural sound, sound effects, and music set the tone and mood of It Follows from beginning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only is there a conflicting dissonance between the diegetic and non diegetic sound as discussed previously, this element is equally present within the incidental music itself. Quite frequently a single beat or rhythm is introduced and subsequently grouped with differing, often incongruent beats, sound effects, noises, and tones. Combining a huge assortment of audio techniques, varying greatly in style, tone, and tempo, the background score is erratic and unpredictable and it injects the film with a volatile, unrelenting feel. Futuristic melodies, distorted and muffled noise, screeching static sounds, pulsating beats, siren like music, pounding, banging, grating, and soft, echoing tunes are all combined and jumbled together at different times, never letting the audience get comfortable with anything it hears. This effect is amplified by suddenly starting and stopping, changing speeds, and alternating levels of volume to the already perplexing and unnerving soundtrack. These strategies, much like the foreboding antagonist, constantly remind the audience of the looming, impending doom the characters face, even in the safest of settings and in the most mundane ... • 3. The Relationship Between Customer Satisfaction and Brand... The Relationship between Customer Satisfaction and Brand Loyalty Abstract This study attempts to examine the impact of customer service (retail service quality and product quality) on brand loyalty. It focuses on the particular aspects of customer service: personal interaction, policy, reliability, and problem solving. Data will be collected through an in person survey and an on line survey immediately following the purchase or visit to the store or website. Another survey will be administered shortly after the customer obtains the product and has a chance to experience it. By contributing to the overall knowledge of customer service and brand loyalty, this research adds significant, valuable information on marketing to customers in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Scientific Research Design The two types of investigation that would be needed is a field study interviewing customers immediately after their visit to a retail establishment and an on line survey after the computer user visited the website. In both surveys, questions regarding customer service will be asked. They would inquire as to the details that pertained to their specific opinion of that day s retail service quality. The service quality could be questioned immediately after the persons shopping experience; whether in person as they exited the store or on line, which should help with their ease of recall. Questions would pertain to reliability, problem solving, and their personal interaction, as well as the store policies. Personal interaction would be determined by using a graded scale of the customer s perception of their attitude, problem solving, and overall care by the sales professional. For the on line shopper, the questionnaire would differ. It would ask the customer to grade the ease of the transaction and the ability to maneuver throughout the website. The software would be graded instead of a sales person. Policy would be determined by inquiring about attitudes of the consumer of in store or on line payment methods, order timing and shipping methods, and the handling of special orders. In both types of surveys, questions would be asked pertaining to their brand loyalty in the past. The same graded scale would be used in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Martha Biondi (2011), discusses the trajectory, development, growth, training, history, of African American studies, and the expansion of doctoral programs of African American studies necessary for the future trajectory in that field. The article further examines the fields in black colleges, as well as predominantly European institutions and challenge these institutions for the incorporation of African American studies. Alexander s question: But has the mission of African American studies changed in other ways? (p 227) The group agrees that post racial discourse is not recognized and that it is very important to have the skills and abilities to address such issues, whether social, economic, cultural, and political. Biondi states that, Arguably the most exciting development for African studies in the twenty first century is the expansion of doctoral programs. The opportunity to train young scholars can only add to the growth, rigor and institutional stature of the field, (p 235). Darwin . Turner, dean of the graduate school at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, argued that the academic turn away from blackness merged from the optimism spawned by early legal decisions supporting desegregation, the defeat of Fascism, and postwar affluence, (p 228). Although the article has good points, the article did not mention solutions for the struggles, challenges, and dilemmas of African American students on campus and the future trajectory for African American studies. I know that it is very difficult to predict what changes will be in the future for the trajectory of the African American Studies program. However, the article did bring insight for other researchers as an opportunity to cultivate solidarity and sharpen and update its analysis of racism in the United States (p 235). We then eat our fractions! 12. As a final formative assessment or reflection, the kids are each given a sticky note and asked to write down three things that they feel they learned today about fractions. Differentiation Ideas: I have grouped the children into both mixed ability and ability groups for this activity. Doctorow s novel Ragtime nevertheless explores issues of identity and ethnicity that still face America in spite of its lofty ideals of individualism and diversity. It displays for the reader a rich and hypnotic portrayal of the soul of immigrant America, yet still fails to avoid ethnic bias in certain subtle ways. Whether the lapses into feelings of cultural superiority originate from the purposeful portrayal of the characters Doctorow created or without the author s conscious prior awareness, a careful reading of the text will reveal them. Asians and indigenous peoples are not invited in Ragtime; while black America is given a voice through the stubborn and noble Coalhouse and the eloquent Booker T. Washington, and the Eastern European immigrant community is given a rich and touching voice through Tateh and his daughter, Doctorow never ventured far enough along to include Asians in his spectrum of ethnic narrative. Just like the Oriental silk cushions that made Houdini feel so trapped in Father s home, they are deprived of a true voice. Great lengths are taken by Doctorow to empathize with the Eastern European immigrant community. With great emotion, he describes Father s impression of an immigrant ship, decidedly of a European identity because of the head shawls that the women wore (Doctorow 14). With an emotion that belies the author s role as third person omniscient, he argues eloquently against this ethnic group being wrongly stigmatized as being lost within moral ... The dialogue reveals that Thomas has an accent with words such as, mysel instead of myself th instead of the and ha instead of have. A widespread belief is that the lack of money is equivalent to the lack of an education, which is displayed to be true within this section of the passage. The stereotypical way to show others one has money is to speak like it, Thomas obviously demonstrates that he was not taught this manner. Also in this conversation, Wilson had not said a word. Readers are lead to believe this was in his perspective, but in actuality his silence shows it was third person. A Deconstructionist Critique of Chopin’s The Awakening Essay A Deconstructionist Critique of Chopin s The Awakening The multiplicity of meanings and (re)interpretations informing critical studies of The Awakening reveal a novel ripe for deconstructionist critique. Just as Chopin evokes an image of the sea as symbolic of Edna s shifting consciousness ( never ceasing, whispering, clamoring, murmuring, inviting the soul to wander in abysses of solitude, 138), likewise the deconstructionist reading of a text emphasizes fluidity over structure: A text consists of words inscribed in and inextricable from the myriad discourses that inform it; from the point of view of deconstruction, the boundaries between any given text and that larger text we call language are always shifting, (297). In her attempt to uncover the grain running against the grain in Chopin s novel, Patricia Yaeger dismantles conventional approaches to The Awakening that regard the work as an emancipatory text by virtue of its rebellious, adulterous heroine alone. Using Tony Tanner s analysis of Edna s infidelity as belonging to the tradition of transgressive narratives, highlighted in his work, Adultery in the Novel, Yaeger conversely emphasizes how Chopin s development of the romance plot between Edna and Robert supports rather than subverts patriarchy. Although Edna credits Robert with [awakening] me last summer out of a life long, stupid dream, her love for him interrupts rather than inspires her awakening, for Edna has simply jumped from the shelter of Leonce s money and the social stability he affords to the school girl fantasy of romantic love Robert represents. In each relationship, whether financially or emotionally, Edna remains dependent upon a man, but more significantly, men exist as the mirror through which Edna perceives herself. Without Robert, Edna forfeits the life she began to construct for herself, as well as the burgeoning female subjectivity awakened the summer before. For example, the Founders chic strategy downplayed the involvement of the Founding Fathers in slavery. The play did mention how slavery existed, and how Alexander Hamilton was in opposition to it, but we had no idea on how his attitude was when he was a boy growing up in the Caribbean. Alexander Hamilton worked on slave ship, making the chances that he was one favorable to it a possibility. Miranda s point in contrast to that was to showcase the emotions rather than substance. He was trying to image Alexander Hamilton s life, and how abolition of slavery was a big part of shaping his life. In contrast to the idea of the play having inaccurate historical facts, Miranda tried to make the play relatable to the people to really showcase Alexander Hamilton s life. Destructive images and negative rhetoric became powerful representation of blacks that began to disseminate across the world as early as the colonial years of settlement of the late 16th century. The Negro s representation of being destructive and negative was by far the catalyst that fueled whites with hatred for the African and these representations are considered powerful because it is the images themselves that further made it possible to allow white people to justify the cruel treatment of the Negro in America. Throughout history the Negro has also suffered from vagrancy laws, the black codes, and Jim crow (segregation) but nothing seemed to compare to the black image of inferiority that proved to be the most successful tool of propaganda within the institution of racism. Images such as servile, primitive, and simpleminded just to name a few were used to degrade Africans and it is these images that have influenced the dialog of the black leaders throughout history. My argument will discuss the psychological effects of such negative imagery of the Negro and its powerful effect on black leaders such as Dubois, Washington, and Woodson. The psychological effects of negative imagery were powerful enough that many black activist and civil rights leaders in their responses discuss the conditions of the black race that addressed such powerful representation that many negroes conformed to. In the arguments of DuBois, Washington, and Woodson I will show how the negative yet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. Egypt Vs Persia Research Paper ,Long ago there were two great empires: Egypt, and Persia. Both had great power, but lead completely different lifestyles. Egypt was a grand society run by a god like ruler called a pharaoh, and the other was a large empire who s society flourished due to its large military. Many people may argue that Persia s great military made them a better empire to live in, yet there are many facts in favor of Egypt, such as their lifestyle, treatment of citizens, and values. While Persia may have been strong, the reason that Egypt was a better society to live in is because Egypt had more respect for women, valued their family, and had more resources. Based on this info, it is obvious that Egypt was a better society to live in that Persia. One reason that Egypt was a better empire to live in was that their treatment of women was far superior that Persia. While as according to source 3, They [women] were equal to men in many ... • 32. The Talented Prokofiev And Beethoven Essay Samantha Davis MUSIC 1302 Professor Eldridge The Talented Prokofiev and Beethoven Throughout history, many musicians and composers made a great impact on the musical world as we know it today. Some of the greats were Sergei Prokofiev and Beethoven. Even though they came in different time periods, they both made a huge impact on the musical world. Sergei Prokofiev was a 20th century Russian composer. His father, Sergei Alekseievich Prokofiev, was an agriculturalist and his mother, Mariya Zitkova, was a self taught pianist. Since his mother was a pianist, he found the love for music at a young age. Prokofiev composed his first opera at the age of 9, and when he was around 13 years old, Prokofiev attended St. Petersburg Conservatory to study composition. Prokofiev wrote in many genres including ballets, operas, symphonies, and even film music. He has played and lived in many countries including Russia, America, and Itlay. Throughout his career, many of Prokofiev s work brought him great recognition. However, his Piano Concerto No. 3(1921) marked one of the peaks of his dynamic national style. This concerto was dedicated to his friend Boris Bashkirov. Prokofiev s Piano Concerto No. 3 was written during the time when he wandered from Russia because of the Bolshevik Revolution. This piece is the most carefully crafted of his early Concertos. The structure is one movement, the music is tonal, and it is the shortest of Prokofiev s concertos. It ... Find out more about bat infestation dangers that could harm your household, and learn what to do if you have bats living in your home. 1. Bat Guano Are you wondering how dangerous it is to have bat guano in the attic? It s one of the biggest consequences of finding bats in the home because their droppings contain several harmful viruses. A few bats in the home can slowly turn into a full blown colony, which results in a larger pile of guano in the home and around their exits and entrances. This can increase the chance of the airborne fungus Histoplasma capsulatum being carried throughout the home. You might end up inadvertently breathing it in through natural air circulation. Homeowners should be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... External Damage Interior damage isn t your only concern: Your home s exterior may require mending. If you find milky white stains on roofing, shingles, and brick, it s bat urine, and it requires a thorough clean up. One feature of bat anatomy includes a greasy, oily coat trail, which covers their fur in a smooth gloss. This oily residue leaves a mark around entry points. If you found rub marks around entrances, they may be slightly sticky, covered in bat hairs, and appear to be a yellow brown or black colour. Bats find any way possible to enter a home through the roof, the chimney, and even the vents. This can damage your home s integrity, in addition to creating costly repairs. For a closer look, use a ladder around the home. You ll likely see piles of guano or urine in one area, and grease stains around crevices and cracks. This is clear evidence of a bat entry and exit point. Broken shingles and loose boards make it easy to slip inside, while creating a bigger problem for you to fix. • 35. What Is Graph Theoretical Analysis 1.3.4. Introduction to graph theoretical analysis. The case of brain perfusion SPECT. In the field of quantitative neuroimaging, graph theoretical analysis is one of the methods to study brain connectivity [93 95, 100, 101]. A key concept of this method is the notion of topology. This concept can be illustrated with a simple idea which is used when we travel in the subway of any large city. In figure 3 two maps of the London subway appear, the first map shows a precise spatial description of the railways (or lines) through which trains travel (i.e., the subway topography), whereas the second one is only concerned with the relative locations of subway stations and connecting lines (i.e., the subway topology). These two maps do not coincide with regards to the relative position of the stations, neither in the distances nor in the location of the lines. However, the topological map simplifies the problem for the traveler. For example, two stations may be physically (topographically) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By simply inspecting the topological maps, it is not easy to know if one subway is better organized than the other (e.g., subway efficiency). One way to simplify this problem is to use metrics that quantify or analyze the subway network using graph theory [94, 101]. Hence the name of graph theoretical analysis. A first aspect to measure could be how easy it is to travel between any two stations (e.g. the number of stations on average, between the start and end of the trip). This aspect is relevant, especially if the traveler wants to visit different parts of the city on the same day. This example illustrates the concept of global efficiency of a graph [94, 101]. The metric of global efficiency is a way to quantify the global connectivity (integration) of the network. In this example, it is assumed that the number of stations (nodes) and lines (connectors) are the same in the two subways that are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Human Social Perception Of Social Psychology Human Social Perception in Empirical Literature Human social perception is area of study within social psychology that involves the complex cognitive system that is personal to each individual. Since each person has a unique cognitive system, interpretation of social situations is unique to each individual. The differences in cognition and perception between different people allows for varied interpretations, accurate perceptions, and misperceptions. Social perception is an interesting topic that has been largely researched by a multitude of social psychologists. The goal of this paper is to provide a brief description of social psychology, a summary of social perception, some of its forms and uses, misperception, and accuracy in perception. Brief Description of Social Psychology Social psychology is the scientific field that focuses on the individual within society. Due to this individualistic focus, people are often studied experimentally within or in relation to social environments. Social psychology studies the effects of social processes and cognitive processes on the way individuals perceive, influence, and relate to others, in a systematic way, using scientific methods (Smith Mackie, 2007). Due to the complexity of the human body and mind, social psychology is a vast field that has been explored by many experts. As social creatures, people interact constantly within an environment that requires complex cognitive and perceptual processes. As a result, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. The Pros And Cons Of Slavery In British New York Slavery in New York under the English rule, compared to the Dutch, was different in the way that slaves were tolerated, treated and had the ability to be free. The Dutch had a fairer attitude and were open to helping the slaves find their freedom. On the other hand, when the English took over New York, their guidelines for the slaves dehumanized them and put legal restrictions around them. Under the British rule, slaves were treated harshly and weren t allowed to integrate with the other colonists, compared to the Dutch who were more tolerant and allowed the slaves to have some legal rights. The British came up with many laws that restricted and oppressed the slaves for their benefit, some of these laws included, that slaves couldn t own land, couldn t leave their masters houses, and couldn t gather in a group of more than 3, and if they did, they would be abused, killed or have their limbs cut off. However, the most important law that essentially ended freeing enslaved people was this, no enslaved person could be freed without the master paying a £200 bond and promising to pay the enslaved person £20 a year for life, (UNIT THREE: NEW YORK Resource 21: Laws Affecting Black Colonials in British New York). This basically assured that the slave s freedom was determined by the master, which practically made it impossible. In this essay, I will discuss Johnson s writings about the necessity of naturalistic sculptures and Marian reliefs part in these rituals. • 40. The War Between Mexico And The United States Essay Following eleven years of struggle, Mexico finally achieved its independence from Spain in September of 1827. Yet over the next 40 years, Mexico would see nearly half of its lands lost from circumstances both in its control and those that were not. Fundamental in the structuring of the events that occurred were the altercations between Mexico and the U.S., chiefly speaking the cessation of Texas from Mexico, the war between Mexico and the United States, and the Gadsden Purchase. These proceedings crippled an already weakened nation, and set in motion a tortuous path for the nation that still exists to this very day. The internal and external strife from these three events left Mexico s ties with the United States diminished, a long lasting alienation of Mexican Americans within the U.S. boundaries, its people torn asunder by the continuance of combat, both abroad and on its native soil. Mexico had many difficulties in beginning its life as a new nation, much the same as the United States did when it achieved independence from England. Freed from the bondage of colonized society, Mexico was eager to commerce in the capitalistic idealisms as seen in American societies. As such, Mexico invited American citizens into its new republic in order to learn how to industrialize, infuse American spirit into its domain, and open channels of commerce with its north American brethren. Had the venture succeeded, this would have brought to Mexico the infrastructure it required to maintain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Femininity and masculinity are viewed as prototypes of essential expression something that can be conveyed in any social situation and yet something that strikes at the most basic characterisation of the individual (1976, p. 75).
