Room Vision Board Analysis
I have come up with quite a few money saving options to transform your nursery, playroom, child s
bedroom or ever you teenagers lair into a wonderful, custom space that they ll never want to leave! To
get started you must know what your budget is; with some of these tips no budget it too small. Next,
have a feel for what your child likes or what kind of space you want to create ; have an idea going into
it. If you don t, then start digging for new fresh ideas. Pick a theme if you want. Themes can be
anything, a print( Chevron, paisley, Moroccan) , one or more of your favorite colors, a Disney
character, the sea, dinosaurs, construction... The ideas are endless. You just have to choose something
that fits your child s likes needs! I recommend starting a room vision board; your child can help! Go
through old magazines, paint swatches, images on the internet looking for things they like. Cut them
out or print out the images glue them done on a paper This could be anything a specific color , storage
ideas, a theme, a pattern... anything that stands out to the person whom the room is for. Then, cut them
out or print out the images glue them down on a paper or pin it to a board. This creation of a visual
idea collage will become the blueprint that the room is based on. Once this is done decide what things
to can repurpose or make yourself. Even if it s a few things, making it yourself from the heart is
ALWAYS better than buying. If you do need to buys some item always shop around! If you find
something you like somewhere, there s usually a good chance that ... Show more content on

Clean out the room, declutter, look at the room for what it could be, not what it was and to do that, it
will be easier if it s empty. A fresh start goes a long way! This is also a great time to throw out the old.
Only keep what is needed or can be used, downsize the unnecessary and you can create more room in

Humanitarian Intervention In The Holocaust
What does 200,000, 800,000 and 11 million mean to you? Anyone seeing these numbers simply just
sees them as a random group of figures; however, to the victims of former Yugoslavia, Rwanda, and
the Holocausts, these are the number of civilian casualties as a result of genocide, or the methodical
massacre of a sizeable group of individuals. Throughout history, there have been several examples of
genocide. In some instances, those affected received aid or a form of intervention, while others did
not. I believe humanitarian intervention is permissible, especially in the cases of Yugoslavia, Rwanda,
and victims of the Holocausts. When it comes to saving innocent lives, protecting human rights, and
preserving the state, humanitarian intervention ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After Josip Broz Tito, the communist president of Yugoslavia, died in 1980, citizens of Yugoslavia
took advantage of attempting to declare their independence (History of Bosnian Genocide). A man by
the name of Slobodan Milosevic soon came into power and further fueled the tension within
Yugoslavia. In 1992, Bosnia, following the footsteps of Croatia and Slovenia for independence, was
home for different ethnic Muslim groups; with in the same year, Serbia declared war on Bosnia in
hopes to claim the land as their own (History of Bosnian Genocide). By using military force and
concentration camps, Serbia was attempting to eradicate this ethnic group using genocide. Just like the
Holocausts, individual rights were being violated and they were being dehumanized. As a result and
stated in our class text, the International Criminal Court (1998) was formed to holding state leaders
accountable for human rights violations. Humanitarian intervention would have been permissible in
this instance because, again, it would save people s lives. The violent dismemberment of Yugoslavia
has added the term ethnic cleansing to the global vocabulary (Denich). Serbia was trying to
completely erase the Bosnian ethnic

Tapeworm Essay
A parasite is an organism that lives in another organism, called the host, and often harms it. It is
dependent on its host for survival and it has to be in the host to live, grow and multiply. A parasite
cannot live independently. Although a parasite rarely kills the host, in some cases it can happen. To a
certain extent, if a parasite does kill its host it has failed as this means it will need to find a new home.
The parasite benefits at the expense of the host, the parasite uses the host to gain strength, and the host
loses some strength as a result. And one of these parasites is the tapeworm, also called cestodes, are a
class of parasitic worms that have a flat, ribbon like body and live in the digestive system of their
hosts. Tapeworms ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Traveling to developing countries, infection occurs more frequently in areas with poor sanitation
practices. Eating raw or undercooked meats, improper cooking may fail to kill tapeworm eggs and
larvae contained in contaminated pork or beef. Living in endemic areas, in certain parts of the world,
exposure to tapeworm eggs is more likely. For instance, your risk of coming into contact with eggs of
the pork tapeworm (Taenia solium) is greater in areas of Latin America, China, sub Saharan Africa or
Southeast Asia where free range pigs are common. It is transmitted to pigs through human faeces or
contaminated fodder, and to humans through uncooked or undercooked pork. Pigs ingest embryonated
eggs, morula, which develop into larvae, the oncospheres, and ultimately into infective larvae,
cysticerci. A cysticercus grows into an adult worm in human small intestines. Infection is generally
harmless and asymptomatic. However, accidental infection in humans by the larval stage causes
cysticercosis. The most severe form is neurocysticercosis, which affects the brain and is a major cause

Stars of the Alaskan bush People may need to seek refuge in the Alaskan bush after admitting that they
stole money from everyone in the state. Billy Brown and his son Joshua Bam Bam Brown pled guilty
to second degree unsworn falsification about where they lived. When the reality TV stars filed out

year they lived in the state through a program called, Permanent Fund dividend. However, according

The Road is a novel written by Cormac McCarthy set in a dystopian society. The text follows a boy
and his father through the lawless world. The boy and his father take the reader through a journey
through the post apocalyptic world. The author Cormac McCarthy entertains his readership of The
Road through using multiple core techniques. Cormac McCarthy expands on each technique as a form
of entertainment for the reader and to draw the reader further in. The core techniques used by Cormac

Each theme addressed in the text plays a part in the development of the plot and in the building of the
relationship or connection between the reader and the text. An example is paternal love. This theme is
demonstrated in the relationship between father and son. The relationship between the father and son
adds a heart warming touch to the plot making the reader feel more passionate about their journeys
and travels through the post apocalyptic world. Another theme highlighted throughout the text is the
battle between good and evil, where the father and son are good, and the cannibals seen in many
scenes of the text, the evil. This theme makes the reader pick a side and think what they would be,
good or evil? The multiple themes addressed in the by Cormac McCarthy are used as tools of

Essay about Analysis of Brazil, Directed by Terry Gilliam
Analysis of Brazil, Directed by Terry Gilliam
As a child develops into an adult there are critical developmental steps that are necessary for a
complete and successful transition. The physical transition is the most obvious change, but underneath
the thick skin and amongst the complex systems, exists another layer of transitions. Ideas, rationales,
ideologies and beliefs all dwell within this layer of each being. It could be said that a nation can also
fit this transitional framework. A nation grows in both size (wealth, population, power), and in
ideological maturity (emancipation of slaves, civil rights, women s rights...etc). This constant
evolution of ideas and size is the foundation of a successful government. Without change and ... Show

The film is riddled with disturbing parallels to current governments close to home. In Sam Lowry s
peculiar world, he works as an employee of the Ministry of Information s Department of Records. The
Ministry is the umbrella corporation/government that runs everything from utilities and credit ratings
to enforcing the confusing laws that they themselves have created. The working environment is
presented to the viewer as efficiency at its finest. His office shows every person engaged dutifully in
their quest for filing the right papers into the right files. Not a paper is discarded on the floor; every
paper is clearly accounted for. The man who is in charge of the operation, Mr. Kurtzmann, is seen
standing next to his office door holding a militant stance, watch in hand, suspiciously supervising his
lively mechanism. The whole environment exudes subtle nobility in working for a greater good. This
is quite typical of what would be considered a utopia for government offices. The employees
participating in the great American Dream, chasing the promotion, the bigger house down the block.
Yet before long Gilliam shows that the efficiency is purely superficial. Once Mr. Kurtzmann steps
inside of his office the televisions are flicked to life and the whole machine stops. The workers show
no difficulty in ignoring their duties. The truth behind this once seemingly perfect workspace shows
itself only moments later, as

Quantum Neural Network Essay
Chapter 1
Quantum Neural Network
1.1 Introduction and Background
The eld of arti cial neural networks (ANNs) draws its inspiration from the working of human brain
and the way brain processes information. An ANN is a directed graph with highly interconnected
nodes called neurons. Each edge of the graph has a weight associated with it to model the synaptic
eciency. The training process involves updating the weights of the network in such a way that the
network learns to solve the problem.
The neurons in the network work together to solve speci c problems.
The network can be trained to do various tasks like pattern recognition, data classi cation, function
approximation etc. ANNs are widely used in the elds of computer vision ... Show more content on

1.2.1 The parallel universe interpretation
The parallel universe interpretation or the many world interpretation of quantum mechanics was
proposed by Hugh Everett in the year 1957 [3].
4 CHAPTER 1. QUANTUM NEURAL NETWORK
It says that there exists an in nite number of coexisting universes and each possible outcome of an
event occurs in a parallel universe. According to the theory superposition states of a wavefunction lies
in di erent universes and the quantum system interacts with itself in di erent universes. Any act of
measurement sees the state only in one universe.
This interpretation can help in better understanding of the eld of quan tum information.

Decolonization
Why was process of decolonization peaceful in some countries and violent in others? (Before
Independence)
Brief historical background of colonization? (Historical Context) * What ignited calls for
independence from colonial rule in __________ (your country)?
A: Elections were held in rural areas(small cities) for reform and democratization of local government.
1958 was a year of vigorous political discussion at issues of society in Belgian Congo. The whole
turning point of their advocacy for independence was during January 4 6 in 1959. In January 4, a riot
broke out in Leopoldville due to the fact that an Abako meeting had been banned. This abrupt disorder

Huge riots were caused by the hunger for independence by the people of Congo. The Belgian
authorities prohibited a political/cultural party named ABAKO which was slowly gaining power in the
lower part of Congo. This led to riots for a span of three days and the Belgian government announced
that they would put more Congolese into the government (for moderate nationalists) at a small scale in
hopes of satisfying the demands. (Made a promise of eventual independence to extreme nationalists).
But suddenly there was a surge of political activity. The nationalist s demand soon grew as fifty
political parties were registered competing and Belgian Congo was beyond control of the Belgian
administration.
* When did _________ (your country) achieve independence? Who ended up in power? (Transition)
A: The Republic of Congo achieved independence on June 30, 1960. From January 18 27, 1960, an
event known as the The Roundtable Conference was held in Brussels. Different Congolese parties
attended the meeting to discuss the transition into independence. There were two pivotal leaders,
Joseph Kasa Vubu as President and Patrice Lumumba as Prime Minister.
To what extent were problems facing newly independent countries a legacy of colonial rule? * What
was the condition of the country upon independence? (Identify problems)
A: Coming from colonial rule, the Congolese had minimal knowledge to manage a huge country.

Tennyson s Themes In The Story Of The Lady Of Shalott
How does Tennyson use the story of the Lady of Shalott to reflect on the situation of the artist in
modern times? Lord Tennyson perfectly describes the situation of the artist, in the sense that an artist
should find himself in solitude, perfect silence and isolation. This seems to be the perfect environment
for a poet, as if the whole world disappears and he is alone with his thoughts. But we can also admit
that it is not the poet s volition to be isolated in order to create and to be imaginative. The poet tries to
gather all of his thoughts, sentiments and passions and the result is a piece of art. It is widely known
that artists prefer to live all by themselves and their imagination is augmented because they prefer to

of their fail. The Lady of Shalott is imprisoned in a passive state, and her desire to change her future is
not accomplished. Tennyson suggests that the female struggle of finding her place in the society is not
easy to be achieved. In the final stanza, Lancelot admires her only for her beauty, without knowing
that she dedicated years of her life closed in a tower, weaving a web with colorful images from the
exterior, as if she was a painter. This lack of gratitude was probably the major issue for the artists,

Analysis Of The Poem Acquainted With The Night By...
The poem Acquainted with the Night by Robert Frost is not simply about a walk being taken on a
rainy night, as one would assume on their first reading. Instead a closer reading of the poem will
reveal to the reader a much darker journey. As the speaker describes his trudge through the city streets,
the reader begins to see that this is far more than a walk through a gloomy night; it is a man s journey
through depression. While Frost s dark poem is written much like a sonnet, having fourteen lines, it is
not a sonnet in the traditional sense, as it follows the terza rima rhyming scheme which is an
interlocking three line rhyme scheme: aba, bcb, cdc, ded, and so on (Meyer, 2012, p. 1673). Terza
rima is made up of tercets woven into a rhyme scheme that requires the end word of the second line in
one tercet to supply the rhyme for the first and third lines in the next tercet, continuing the pattern
until the final stanza or line. Borrowing this rhyme scheme from Dante Alighieri and by utilizing a
few lines a mere fourteen Frost is able to paint a convincing picture to the reader of the true feeling of
depression by using the literary elements of metaphor, imagery, and theme.
Frost uses metaphors in Acquainted with the Night to express the darkness and loneliness that are
familiar feelings for those that suffer with depression. Though the entire poem can be interpreted as a
metaphor for depression, Frost uses individual words and phrases as metaphors as well. In the

Motherhood And Citizenship At Love Canal Analysis
This document, Recipe for Disaster: Motherhood and Citizenship at Love Canal, holds focus to the
decades between 1960 1980 s in which the residents of Niagara Falls, New York faced a large problem
of toxic waste surrounding their homes. Its author, Amy M. Hay, reveals specific characteristics about
the area such as homes being built on the toxic land in addition to the toxins taking a toll on the
environment. In the Love Canal as it is nicknamed, children are constantly falling to illnesses ,
mothers seem to keep falling victim to miscarriages, and residents are faced with the dilemma of

death, they were unable to convince the government to compensate them for new homes and pay for
relocation, however they were successful in getting the government and health departments attention
which made for a very influential change that would affect not only them, but all of American cities

The Impact Of Immigration On The United States And Canada...
Chapter One: Introduction to Investigation
Immigration to North American nations has been a staple process for countries like the United States
and Canada. Without immigrants, these two nations would not have become as large and successful as
they are today. However, easy and encouraged immigration has not always been a constant for these
two countries. Throughout the centuries, there have been issues and disputes over immigration for
particular ethnicities and groups of people which continue even to this day. One example being the
current dispute on Mexican immigrants residing or entering the United States and whether it requires
heavier government intervention. A similar problem beginning almost two centuries ago has already
occurred in both the US and Canada, and was resolved in extreme manners similar to some of those
proposed American politicians. As following a popular quote by George Santayana, Those who do not
learn history are doomed to repeat it, by examining past events similar to those seen today, those
involved in the issue can make better judgements based on what has and has not worked in the past.
The aforementioned problem was one of the largest past uproars concerning American and Canadian
immigration, which was with the sudden flow of Chinese immigrants to North America in the 1800s to
the 1920s. Most of whom hailed from Southern China, poor Chinese immigrants that journeyed to the
United States to secure their share in the American Dream, often

Mother Son Conflict In The Odyssey
There is a common theme in Greek Mythology of children fighting with, overthrowing, and often
killing their parents. Zeus kills his father Cronus to rise to power as the king of the Olympian gods.
Prior to this, Cronus had killed his own father, Uranus, which lead to the rise of the Titans.
Perhaps you re confused. No one kills their parents in the books we read in class, you re probably
thinking. In this, you are correct. However, Telemachus relationship with his mother Penelope still fits
some aspects of this trope of struggling in the assumption of power from his parents. His murder of
the maids at his father s command is influenced by his attempting to prevail in this mother son
conflict.
In order to present this concept in my media project, I created a comic detailing Telemachus
hypothetical thought process, the people and statements I d imagine were passing through his mind the
moment before he murdered the maids. In doing so, I can justify my thesis. Sections from the comic
and the quotations that go along with them will appear on the screen behind me as I provide literary
analysis, and at the end I ll show the comic in full.
To begin, in order to prove the murders were influenced by the conflict, it must first be proven that
there is a conflict. Shortly after the introductory section of the Odyssey, we see Telemachus telling his
mother to go back to her quarters and tend to her distaff and loom . Then, he reminds her he holds the
reins of power in their house.

In order to file a small claims lawsuit, you must do a variety of other requirements prior to filing the
claim. Before even going through the process of filing a small court claim, you must notify the
defendant clearly stating why you think they owe you money, and how much money they actually owe
you. This is to show you at least put an effort out to resolve the issue instead of going straight to the
small claims court. It should include a summary of the situation, a date for them to respond by, proof
of what they did wrong, and to warn them that you will take legal action if the matter is not solved.
You may do this verbally, or you may write a letter to the defendant. If you chose to write a letter, you
must make sure you keep record of the letter, and also print an extra copy for the court. If they do not
pay back the money they owe to you or find a solution, then you should proceed with taking legal
action.
Although it may sound extremely simple, it is very important that you receive the name, address, and
phone number of the person or business you are suing so you can correctly add them into the claim. If
you have trouble finding more details on the defendant, than you can use a California Secretary of
State website to access the information if you are searching for a corporation,

First Transcontinental Railroad
Lasting less than a generation the old west still had a colossal impact on America. While the civil war
between the south and the north was coming to an end a new one was beginning; the East and the
West against the wilderness. Everything started when Lincoln wanted to build a railroad from the
Atlantic to the Pacific ocean. Two teams were formed the Central Pacific and the Union Pacific
moving towards each other to create the first transcontinental railroad. Each team fighting through
dangers to build the Railroad that will pave the way towards westward expansion and development of
the old west. Four men, Charles Crocker, Leland Stanford, Collis Huntington and Mark Hopkins; four

Comparing Byzantine And Western Culture
The two halves shared some similarities and one of them was the form of entertainment that occurred
in their culture. The Roman Empire and Byzantine cherished watching gladiator fights as well as
chariot races at the big stadiums. In Rome they watched at the coliseum while in Byzantine the
watching was done at Circus Maximus.
Both the Western and the Eastern halves considered themselves Roman s even though Eastern Rome
was greatly influenced by Greek Culture. However, the Eastern half has its headquarters in
Constantinople city and not Rome. The end of the late antiquity marked the split of the Roman Empire

The Budget Of The NASA Budget
In the 2017 fiscal year (Oct. 2016 Sept. 2017), the budget for NASA was 19 billion US dollars [1].
However, the total budget for the United States in 2017 is 3,650 billion US dollars [2] making the
NASA budget only .52% of the United States budget for the 2017 fiscal year. Even though 19 billion
US dollars seem like a large amount of money, in comparison to 1966, the height of the Apollo
mission, the budget for NASA was 5.9 billion United States dollars [3] which was .83% of the
National budget of 708 billion dollars [4]. Also, with the 122 million citizens [5] reported to pay
federal taxes in the United States, each taxpayer only contributes about $12.98 a month to NASA, so

Only 10% of the budget is going to go to space technology because even though there is still a need to
continue developing technologies for space, it does not need the same funds as other sections, and
without any large space missions in the near future it is not as pressing as other categories like science,
exploration, and space operations.
The third category is exploration which will receive 27% of the budget. The exploration budget will
go to projects like space transportation systems and human missions to the moon and mars. Projects
such as these require a large portion of the budget due to their expensive nature, but despite the cost,
these missions gain public support. Without such missions, the public would not have supported the
United States spending billions of dollars on scientific research. Additionally, these missions help gain
an understanding of the universe. The fourth category is Aeronautics which will receive 7% of the
budget. Aeronautic projects would include new aircraft and new air traffic control systems. This
category is similar to space technology where there still needs to be research in the field but it does not
require as much money as other parts of NASA. Also, there are more companies in the private sector
of aeronautic that will be researching similar topics. Therefore to save money for different products
aeronautics received the lowest part of the budget. Lastly, space operations will receive 26% of the

The Americanization Of Edward Bok And The America I Believe
Since the dawn of American colonization in the early 1600s, the notion of immigrating to America has
long been instilled upon various people as a stimulating opportunity to begin a fresh chapter in their
lives. Even now, this possibility has brought many variations of people to America, culminating a
society that brims with dreams and aspirations to form the diversified nation of today. When speaking
of the current state of immigration, it is easy to conclude that immigration is heavily discussed from
political standpoints. Though this current condition is composed of highly controversial perspectives,
many of the early century viewpoints found in literature genuinely embrace reality, for these writers
were indeed immigrants themselves, thus adding an authoritative standpoint over immigration. The
Americanization of Edward Bok (1921) by Edward Bok and The America I Believe In by Colin
Powell, display the perspectives of two authors, who have lived as immigrants, through their own
personal anecdotes. Both Edward Bok and Colin Powell convey a sincerely grateful tone and develop
the idea of Americanization and the quest for opportunity through the use of connotative diction in
contrast to the Immigration Chart and Political Cartoon which have a downright concrete and
pessimistic tone and supports the idea that immigration exposes various challenges to incoming
immigrants. Throughout majority of the two passages, Edward Bok and Colin Powell both convey
their perspectives

Essay On Catheterization
The objective of this paper is to explain the procedure for inserting non tunneled central venous
catheters and possible uses and complications. The technique for central venous catheterization was
first described by Sven Ivar Sledinger in 1952 (Watcher 2000) and is still the standard for inserting
catheters today. There are variations, but the general procedure includes the following: 1. clean the
skin with an antiseptic solution and if patient is conscious, give local anesthesia 2. insert the needle
into the desired blood vessel and aspirate to make sure you are in the vein 3. insert a guidewire
through the needle 4. advance the catheter over the guidewire to the appropriate distance 5. remove
the guidewire 6. suture or staple the catheter to the skin and place a sterile dressing over the insertion
site (Jackson 2010) Generally, a chest x ray is done to verify placement and to rule out a ... Show more

contraindicated in patients with coagulation problems because if there are any issues when inserting, it

Analysis Of George Berkeley s Dialogues
Christopher Podlaski In George Berkeley s Dialogues, he presents and subsequently dismantles
several of his predecessors ideas through the use of two characters, Hylas and Philonous. His main
goal in this project is to refute the flawed concept of reality that something unperceived and
unperceiving could exist (Atherton). However, in attempting to argue for this, particularly when
arguing against John Locke s distinction between primary and secondary qualities, he sets his
opposition up as a dummy argument and therefore commits a logical fallacy. Berkeley does not
understand Locke s view and therefore incorrectly bases it on the ordinary experience of large objects
that are perceivable to the naked eye. In his attempt to show that the perception of primary qualities
are also subject to relativity like secondary qualities, Berkeley misinterprets Locke s arguments to
have a different foundation than they do. He is therefore inaccurate in his method of refuting Locke s
distinction (Atherton). One might claim that disproving Locke s primary secondary quality distinction
is not necessary to Berkeley s goal, which is refuting previous philosophies of reality. However, he
spends a considerable amount of time on the concern that Locke s primary qualities are also subject to
the relativity of experience and the inconsistencies of perception, as secondary qualities are. This, in
its self, refutes such a claim. In Locke s work, he submits that the physical world is made up of

Essay on Relationships between Asthma and Air Pollution
Relationships between Asthma and Air Pollution
Professor s comment: This student s research paper synthesizes the results of a well selected group of
articles that explore relationships between asthma and air pollution. That laboratory science is at base
a social enterprise is nicely exemplified by the focus of the studies she reviews. In drawing from the
articles she reviews and in organizing her paper, the student maintains a good balance between
discussing air borne pollutants themselves and their physical effects, between analysis and
implication. The result is a readable and interesting explanation of current work on this increasingly
important subject.

In order to reset EPA air quality standards and to determine which therapeutic actions can be applied
to patients to prevent deterioration of their asthma conditions (Neukirch et al., 1998), researchers have
found it increasingly necessary to discover the relationships between asthma symptoms and episodes
of air pollution and to identify the pollutants that are responsible for the rise in the number of people
seeking respiratory medical treatment.
Pollutants of Concern
Epidemiologic studies have determined that the following are the major air pollutants contributing to
respiratory diseases: sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), ozone (O3), and particulate matter
(PM) less than 10 mm and less than 2. 5 mm in diameter (PM10 and PM2.5, respectively) (Baldi et
al., 1999; Chew et al., 1999; McConnell et al., 1999; McDonnell et al., 1999; Neukirch et al., 1998;
Ostro et al., 1998; Sheppard et al., 1999; Taggart et al., 1996). Particulate matter is the product of solid
and liquid particles being directly emitted into the air from such things as diesel engine soot, road and
agricultural dust, and manufacturing processes, while SO2, NO2, and O3, are predominately
byproducts of fuel combustion.
In controlled studies of the inhalation of either SO2 or O3, subjects with asthma have been shown to
be especially sensitive to these pollutants, with decrements in pulmonary function, increases in
asthmatic bronchial hyperresponsiveness,

important? It s a ritual for me because I had just spent a few minutes about a week before calculating
which players had the highest percentage of making it to the on pitch eleven. The common
misconception is that club managers simply pick the the best eleven players to take their best positions
to make the best formation. However, there s many more dimensions to building a winning eleven
than that.

Monuments Men Summary and Strong Response Essay Personally, history intrigues me. I love
learning about things that helped shape our country and others. There s only one catch, listening to a
teacher lecture about history kills me. It is, in my opinion, the most boring thing in the world ever to
sit through. It s not the teachers fault by any means, they re just doing their job. It s just that I can t
stand listening to lecture after lecture. So when I can do research on my own, or learn about it in my
own way, it makes it so much more enjoyable. While reading this book, Edsel brought things to my
attention that I never would ve have thought were of importance back then. For example, the whole
book is about art preservation and the importance of art to societies around the world, something that I
never really cared about until after I read this book. Edsel shows the importance of art in history
through this book, which is that art connects everyone because it is a representation or reminder of our
heritage and culture. From this viewpoint, Edsel broadens his audience immensely, and understand
and appreciate art like he does. The story begins in the city of Karlsruhe, Germany. Karlsruhe was a
city that the Jews had lived in peacefully for a great number of years. ... Show more content on

Culture Is A Way Of Life Shared By People
Culture is a way of life shared by people in a society. Culture is exceptional, although it may have
other things in common with other cultures. According to American Culture, Culture encompasses
religion, food, what we wear, how we wear it, our language, marriage, music, what we believe is right
or wrong, how we sit at the table, how we greet visitors, how we behave with loved ones, and a
million other things, said Cristina De Rossi, an anthropologist at Barnet and Southgate College in
London. The United States is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world. According to
People Culture, within its vast area, Nigeria has over 250 different ethnic groups, all with their own
languages and heritage. Cultures are made and followed according to the society or family one comes
from or was born in.
According to USA Language, Culture, Customs and Etiquette, Americans are extremely informal,
friendly, and call most people by their first name. Most people who come to the United States may
already know a few things about the people through TV. Although this is of course a skewed reality
some of the stereotypes are true, especially American friendliness and informality. People tend to not
wait to be introduced, will begin to speak with strangers as they stand in a queue, sit next to each other
at an event, etc. Americans are very casual in greeting. A handshake, a smile, and a hello are all that is
needed, which I really agree with but in Nigeria, where I came

Charles Absolute Monarchy
King Charles I of England was the first king in England that tried to have an absolute monarchy. An
absolute monarchy is different than the constitutional monarchy of the kings and queens before him
were trying to have. An absolute monarchy is where the monarch has all the power and there are no
nobles or anyone interfering with the king s rule; a constitutional monarchy is where the king or queen
acts as the Head of State, and the Parliament makes the laws, not the monarch. King Charles s strong
will created conflicts with government, which ended up establishing a civil war his execution. In

King Charles was trying to spread a new prayer book in countryside of Scotland, even though
Scotland was heavily neglected in Charles s early rule. The prayer book was met with much
resistance; Charles already claimed all land in Scotland, including the Church s land, was subject to
being taken away. Met with high resistance in Scotland, King Charles tried to resolve the conflict by
swordpoint and had to call Parliament because his side of the conflict was not ready to go to battle,
because he had a small amount of money. Almost at the same time, military rebellion happened in
Ireland in November 1641, and Charles attempted to arrest five Parliament legislators. Civil war
erupted in 1642, and Charles was defeated in 1646. Scottish forces handed the king back to
Parliament, and King Charles was then tried for treason in 1648. King Charles I got a trial and was
executed for treason against England.
An argument for Charles could state that none of this was Charles s fault because the civilians were
simply outrageous. However, it is commonly known that the predecessor of Charles I, Elizabeth I, was
beloved by all her subjects because she treated them fairly and gave Parliament power. Charles,
however, thought it was him and only him who should rule England. This is what caused his downfall:
his inability to listen to other members of the government. His plans to create an absolute monarchy
ultimately backfired because of his unfair treatment of his subjects and inability to manage financial

Violent Video Games Effect On Children
Blast! Head shot! That guy was pulverized! These are only a few samples of the dialog talked between
kids who play games such as like Call of Duty or Halo . In today s age, kids frequently boast about the
quantity of players they figured out how to kill while playing these video games. Two decades ago,
this would not be the typical waste of time of an eleven year old, yet now kids are seeing this kind of
brutal movement as simply one more approach to take a break on a Saturday morning. Since the video
game market is blasting at this moment because of progressive gaming systems like the Wii,
Playstation, and Xbox, this issue is turning out to be more serious; parents should be mindful of and
strongly advised about the reasons why violent video games could hurt their children. Despite the fact
that the violence in these video games is fictional, the essential ideas driving the savagery have been
demonstrated to prompt more aggressive behavior in developing children. Violent video games
instruct youngsters that brutality is acceptable and fun at the same time, have been demonstrated to
prompt forceful practices in kids, furthermore desensitize kids. The brutal demonstrations portrayed in
video games are transforming the psyches of youthful kids, permitting them to imagine that firearm

1692 Salem Witch Trials
Far too often in history, a person s negative or evile views have influenced others to commit terrible
atrocities. In the 1930s, Adolph Hitler hated the Jews and blamed them for the declining economy,
high unemployment rate, and other ills in the world. Because he was a master orator , he easily
convinced the German citizens to agree with his views, including the belief that the Jewish people
should be punished, causung their mass execution during World War II. In recent years, leaders of
various terrorist cells have used similar tactics of vengeance, brotherhood, and patriotism, recruiting
impressionable young adults, promising eternal salvation as a reward for torture, murder, and even
suicide. Closer to home , in Massachusetts during the 17th century, a few people negatively influenced

Under the fourth amendment, Police do not need a warrant for a search if probable cause is there.
(Schmalleger, 2012).The search and seizure are made under the reasonable cause. For instance, For

smells alcohol when he talks with the driver, then the officer has probable cause to search the vehicle
for more illegal things without a warrant (Schmalleger, 2012)
The officers have the right to search in the case of plain view doctrine (Schmalleger, 2012). It can be
understood with an example; if an officer goes to a doctor for assistance or medical help and during
the process, he sees drugs; in this situation, he can legally forfeit him and make an arrest at the

officers have a valid right. All these searchers and reasons are persuasive and influential (Schmalleger,

Needle Exchange Programs, Safe Injection Sites And Address...
Needle exchange programs have long been a controversial subject with both the general population
and government lawmakers. The primary objective for needle exchange programs (NEPs) is to prevent
the spread of blood borne disease and is very successful in doing so. But, issues of morality due to the
perception of drug enablement and the stigma of intravenous drug users (IDUs) and their potential
effects on the decline of society are continually used as arguments for those against NEPs. It has been
proven through many studies that these programs not only reduce harms associated with intravenous
drug use, they are also cost effective and reduce the circulation of used syringes to the general
population. Beyond epidemiological efforts, NEPs also provide a de stigmatized center for gathering
and offers health services such as HIV testing, counselling and referrals to treatment for drug
addiction. This paper aims to highlight the efficacy of needle exchange programs, safe injection sites
and address the social and political issues associated with them.
Intravenous drug users are some of the individuals most susceptible for contracting and transmitting
blood borne diseases such as the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis B and hepatitis C. In
Canada, there was an estimated 71,300 cases of HIV at the end of 2011 with an incidence of
approximately 2,250 to 4,100 cases. IDUs account for 13.7% of Canadians living with HIV.

Discretionary Accruals Models Audit quality is crucial for financial statements users and efficient
capital markets. However, how to measure audit quality properly has been a controversial issue,
because quality is not observable. With no uniform definition of audit quality, prior researchers
developed various audit quality proxies. Earning quality is one of the most commonly used measure
for audit quality. Client discretionary accruals, meet or beat earnings target, and likelihood of
restatement are all under this category. Among those, discretionary accruals are the most widely used,
because it is positively related to earnings management, which reflects audit quality. The purpose of
this review is to summarize the most commonly used models to measure discretionary accruals by
previous literature, and to help future studies to choose from these models when they are used as audit
quality proxies. Among all the research papers, there are two main methods to calculate discretionary
accruals: change dependent variables to accruals model (e.g., Jones Model, Modified Jones Model,
and McNichols Model) and performance adjustment measure (Kothari, Leone, and Wasley, 2005). The
most frequently cited model of discretionary accruals model is Jones (1991) Model. The estimation of

The Point Of Euthyphro
What is the point of the Euthyphro?
Euthyphro [ca. 399 395 BCE], by Plato, is a written dialogue about the events which occurred before
the trial of Socrates , where Socrates was charged with two crimes impiety against the pantheon of
Athens and corruption of the youth. Socrates was accused of failing to acknowledge the gods that the
city acknowledges and introducing new deities . The consequence for such a crime was death.
Euthyphro was in the court to present manslaughter charges against his father to the court. Socrates
begins his debate with Euthyphro by asking Euthyphro does he have a clear understanding of what is
pious and impious. He asks this because he is face with the crime of impiety; Socrates hopes to learn

Why Is Absolutism Absolute
Introduction
Absolutism could be defined as a form of monarchy that the monarch has absolute power in his
sovereignty. This form based on the divine rights absolute monarch acquired power from God and was
image of God in earth. According to these definitions, absolutism seems to be absolute, however, this
essay will argue that the absolutism was not absolute to a certain extent. The first part of this essay
will theoretically explain absolutism , which was exaggerated by some scholars. There were
limitations of absolute power in theory. This essay will mainly use John Locke s ideas to illustrate it.
In the second part, this essay will demonstrate how absolute power constrained in practice. Different
powerful groups in feudal formation and the power of church were two major limitations on kings
power. In addition, European Enlightenment and the growth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Firstly, the inflexible feudal formation limited the development of absolutism. The majority of
European society based on feudalism and the king gained his power with the support of the nobility.
Therefore, nobility, urban bourgeoisie and other interests group still played roles in political system.
The power of territorial estates has been considered as a determining factor of the extent of absolute
power. In addition, the church, as a strong institution, had prerogative of exempting from regular royal
tax. There was also conflict between the king and the pope, who was also said to be chosen by God as
a leader of Catholic Church. In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, the ideas of Enlightenment
spread across Europe, which led to huge changes of European absolutism. With the decline of religion,
absolute powers came from Divine Right became weaken, and the king was more likely to be first
servant of state. Then, with the development of constitutionalism, absolute monarchy was pushed
towards constitutional

Fixing Animals
A question that plagues pet owners new and old is whether they should fix their animals which is the
process of removing the reproductive organs of an animal. Though in the end it is a tough decision to
make when considering both side to the problem. On the side that is for the spaying and neutering of
their animals, research suggests that it helps keep animals healthy is certain ways that not fixing an
animal does. It also contributes to the control of the animal population in not just in America. But, on
the other side of the issue there are studies showing that even though fixing an animal has many health
and population benefits for animals it can also cause problems for them, as well as brush up against
moral boundaries that many people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, in an article called Spaying and Neutering Pets by the college of Veterinary Medicine
and Biomedical Sciences at Texas A M states that the decision to spay or neuter your pet may be the
best decision for your pet s overall health . The article goes on and speaks about the health benefits of
fixing an animal. Which is also corroborated by other articles by the ASPCA called Spay/Neuter Your
Pet and Peta called Spay and Neuter . All of these articles depict the same information about how
fixing an animal will help stop certain cancers that appear in non fixed animals such as mammary
cancer in females and testicular cancer in males. Another source that is for fixing from The Humane
Society called Why You Should Spay/Neuter Your Pet speaks on the population of the animals in the
United States stating that In the U.S., there are an estimated 6 8 million homeless animals entering
shelters every year. They go on to say that the reason behind this staggering number of homeless
animals is because of pet owners not fixing their animals. While fixing an animal is good for the
health and population of animals there are downside to it two. For instance, in the blog article written
by Rick Bohning called Do NOT Spay or Neuter Your Dog. One Size Does Not Fit All . Bohining is
against the procedures because he says that if the

Gilgamesh As An Epic Hero Essay
An epic hero is a protagonist whose life is a series of well marked adventures which typically change
the hero into a better, more refined person. These heroes are typically characterized by courage,
strength, honor, and the hardships they endure and eventually overcome. An epic hero can even be
known to risk his or her life for the good of others. Gilgamesh and Achilles are perfect examples of
what an epic hero truly is. They are both able to become successful despite their flaws and go on to
become powerful men.
Gilgamesh was two parts god and one part man. Many considered him to have far more power and
strength than he was able to handle. He was a fierce, ruthless warrior and King who loved his country.

They were strong warriors who had extreme potential. Their character flaws however create setbacks.
Each of these heroes had a close friend who died. For Gilgamesh it was Enkidu and for Achilles it was
Patroclus. When these men died, our epic heroes were sent over the edge. Their means of grief were
very different though. Achilles took a more emotional approach. He fasted, smeared himself with ash,
beat the ground with his fists, and was emotionally distraught for days. The epic states that he utters a
terrible, wrenching cry that his own mother hears him and approaches him with the water nymphs to
learn of what is upsetting her son. After recovering from his emotional state, his anger then motivates
him to return to battle. Gilgamesh however, refrained from outward emotions and instead went on a
quest to help determine where exactly his friend went after passing.
After reading the stories of Gilgamesh and Achilles, I was better able to understand what an epic hero
truly was. An epic hero is someone who is strong, courageous, successful in battle, values honor and
glory, faces hardships, fights off those hardships, accepts challenges and achieves his goal. Gilgamesh
and Achilles both display all of the above

Advantages Of Qatari Diamond
Competitive Advantage of Qatari Firms Based on Michael Porter s Diamond
In his book The Competitive Advantage of Nations Michael Porter examines modern global economy
and explains the theory of competitive advantage through a reflection of a diamond which maintains
its growth and prosperity. Porter who is considered the father of modern businesses and promoter of
notions of competitiveness produced a number of books on strategic management in which he bridged
the gap between national and international economics. His latest book is specifically the broadest in
scope because it shifts the focus of attention from the performance of the firm to the performance of
the nation whole. However, the focus of this paper discusses how a developing nation like Qatar is
growing its firms foundations and bettering its environmental conditions ... Show more content on

This paper further discussed Porter s framework at a nation s level, choosing Qatar as its pick of a
developing country that has crossed the borderline to global markets among other internationalized
nations via its massive production of natural gasses, oils and fuels. Through Porter s diamond
framework, the gap was bridged between economic sciences and having insights to the system of a
country like Qatar and understanding the how the 4 determinants work as a well functioning cycle,
despite it being more dynamic and complex than it seems. Finally, Porter s book serves as a portal for
theorists to analyze countries that are not usually written about such as ones in the Arabian region like
Qatar, Oman, etc. However, at the empirical level this paper proved that such complex framework can
be applied to selective countries that has high competitive tendencies and what qualifies it to fit with

The Nazis And The Nazi Past
The Nazis left a lasting legacy that is still felt around the world today. The Nazi past weighs most
heavily on Germany and its citizens who still grapple today with what the Nazis mean to their identity.
This struggle was much different in the years immediately following World War II and the subsequent
creation of divided Germany than today. In the German Democratic Republic (East Germany), the
Nazi past was completely ignored. Instead focused on the West as the enemy. In the Federal Republic
of Germany the government also attempted to ignore the Nazi past, with the government focusing
more on building a democracy rather than emphasizing the brutal past. However, in a free society
issues of identity are much harder to contain . The Nazi past began to come up despite these concerted
efforts to bury it, yet even when questions about the past began to be raised, people in the 1960s were
nearly ignorant about the real atrocities that the Nazis had committed . From 1963 1965, State
Attorney Richard Bauer indicted 22 Nazi officials who had worked at the Auschwitz Birkenau
concentration camp . These trials attempted not only to educate average Germans about what had truly
happened during World War II, but also to eliminate the idea that everyone who had committed these
crimes were abnormal monsters, the concept that allowed the German population of the post war era
to distance themselves from this evil. In the 1960s the concept of Auschwitz Birkenau, and the Nazi
concentration

Anyone seeing these numbers simply just sees them as a random group of figures; however, to the victims of former Yugoslavia, Rwanda, and the Holocausts, these are the number of civilian casualties as a result of genocide, or the methodical massacre of a sizeable group of individuals. Throughout history, there have been several examples of genocide. In some instances, those affected received aid or a form of intervention, while others did not. This seems to be the perfect environment for a poet, as if the whole world disappears and he is alone with his thoughts. • 12. Analysis Of The Poem Acquainted With The Night By... The poem Acquainted with the Night by Robert Frost is not simply about a walk being taken on a rainy night, as one would assume on their first reading. Instead a closer reading of the poem will reveal to the reader a much darker journey. As the speaker describes his trudge through the city streets, the reader begins to see that this is far more than a walk through a gloomy night; it is a man s journey through depression. While Frost s dark poem is written much like a sonnet, having fourteen lines, it is not a sonnet in the traditional sense, as it follows the terza rima rhyming scheme which is an interlocking three line rhyme scheme: aba, bcb, cdc, ded, and so on (Meyer, 2012, p. 1673). Terza rima is made up of tercets woven into a rhyme scheme that requires the end word of the second line in one tercet to supply the rhyme for the first and third lines in the next tercet, continuing the pattern until the final stanza or line. Borrowing this rhyme scheme from Dante Alighieri and by utilizing a few lines a mere fourteen Frost is able to paint a convincing picture to the reader of the true feeling of depression by using the literary elements of metaphor, imagery, and theme. Frost uses metaphors in Acquainted with the Night to express the darkness and loneliness that are familiar feelings for those that suffer with depression. Though the entire poem can be interpreted as a metaphor for depression, Frost uses individual words and phrases as metaphors as well. In the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Chapter One: Introduction to Investigation Immigration to North American nations has been a staple process for countries like the United States and Canada. Without immigrants, these two nations would not have become as large and successful as they are today. However, easy and encouraged immigration has not always been a constant for these two countries. Throughout the centuries, there have been issues and disputes over immigration for particular ethnicities and groups of people which continue even to this day. One example being the current dispute on Mexican immigrants residing or entering the United States and whether it requires heavier government intervention. A similar problem beginning almost two centuries ago has already occurred in both the US and Canada, and was resolved in extreme manners similar to some of those proposed American politicians. As following a popular quote by George Santayana, Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it, by examining past events similar to those seen today, those involved in the issue can make better judgements based on what has and has not worked in the past. However, the total budget for the United States in 2017 is 3,650 billion US dollars [2] making the NASA budget only .52% of the United States budget for the 2017 fiscal year. Even though 19 billion US dollars seem like a large amount of money, in comparison to 1966, the height of the Apollo mission, the budget for NASA was 5.9 billion United States dollars [3] which was .83% of the National budget of 708 billion dollars [4]. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Only 10% of the budget is going to go to space technology because even though there is still a need to continue developing technologies for space, it does not need the same funds as other sections, and without any large space missions in the near future it is not as pressing as other categories like science, exploration, and space operations. The third category is exploration which will receive 27% of the budget. The exploration budget will go to projects like space transportation systems and human missions to the moon and mars. Projects such as these require a large portion of the budget due to their expensive nature, but despite the cost, these missions gain public support. Without such missions, the public would not have supported the United States spending billions of dollars on scientific research. Additionally, these missions help gain an understanding of the universe. The fourth category is Aeronautics which will receive 7% of the budget. Aeronautic projects would include new aircraft and new air traffic control systems. This category is similar to space technology where there still needs to be research in the field but it does not require as much money as other parts of NASA. Also, there are more companies in the private sector of aeronautic that will be researching similar topics. Therefore to save money for different products aeronautics received the lowest part of the budget. Lastly, space operations will receive 26% of the budget. Space ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. The Americanization Of Edward Bok And The America I Believe Since the dawn of American colonization in the early 1600s, the notion of immigrating to America has long been instilled upon various people as a stimulating opportunity to begin a fresh chapter in their lives. Even now, this possibility has brought many variations of people to America, culminating a society that brims with dreams and aspirations to form the diversified nation of today. When speaking of the current state of immigration, it is easy to conclude that immigration is heavily discussed from political standpoints. Though this current condition is composed of highly controversial perspectives, many of the early century viewpoints found in literature genuinely embrace reality, for these writers were indeed immigrants themselves, thus adding an authoritative standpoint over immigration. The Americanization of Edward Bok (1921) by Edward Bok and The America I Believe In by Colin Powell, display the perspectives of two authors, who have lived as immigrants, through their own personal anecdotes. Both Edward Bok and Colin Powell convey a sincerely grateful tone and develop the idea of Americanization and the quest for opportunity through the use of connotative diction in contrast to the Immigration Chart and Political Cartoon which have a downright concrete and pessimistic tone and supports the idea that immigration exposes various challenges to incoming immigrants. The technique for central venous catheterization was first described by Sven Ivar Sledinger in 1952 (Watcher 2000) and is still the standard for inserting catheters today. There are variations, but the general procedure includes the following: 1. clean the skin with an antiseptic solution and if patient is conscious, give local anesthesia 2. insert the needle into the desired blood vessel and aspirate to make sure you are in the vein 3. insert a guidewire through the needle 4. advance the catheter over the guidewire to the appropriate distance 5. remove the guidewire 6. suture or staple the catheter to the skin and place a sterile dressing over the insertion site (Jackson 2010) Generally, a chest x ray is done to verify placement and to rule out a ... • 26. Analysis Of George Berkeley s Dialogues Christopher Podlaski In George Berkeley s Dialogues, he presents and subsequently dismantles several of his predecessors ideas through the use of two characters, Hylas and Philonous. His main goal in this project is to refute the flawed concept of reality that something unperceived and unperceiving could exist (Atherton). However, in attempting to argue for this, particularly when arguing against John Locke s distinction between primary and secondary qualities, he sets his opposition up as a dummy argument and therefore commits a logical fallacy. Berkeley does not understand Locke s view and therefore incorrectly bases it on the ordinary experience of large objects that are perceivable to the naked eye. In his attempt to show that the perception of primary qualities are also subject to relativity like secondary qualities, Berkeley misinterprets Locke s arguments to have a different foundation than they do. He is therefore inaccurate in his method of refuting Locke s distinction (Atherton). One might claim that disproving Locke s primary secondary quality distinction is not necessary to Berkeley s goal, which is refuting previous philosophies of reality. However, he spends a considerable amount of time on the concern that Locke s primary qualities are also subject to the relativity of experience and the inconsistencies of perception, as secondary qualities are. This, in its self, refutes such a claim. In Locke s work, he submits that the physical world is made up of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In order to reset EPA air quality standards and to determine which therapeutic actions can be applied to patients to prevent deterioration of their asthma conditions (Neukirch et al., 1998), researchers have found it increasingly necessary to discover the relationships between asthma symptoms and episodes of air pollution and to identify the pollutants that are responsible for the rise in the number of people seeking respiratory medical treatment. Pollutants of Concern Epidemiologic studies have determined that the following are the major air pollutants contributing to respiratory diseases: sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), ozone (O3), and particulate matter (PM) less than 10 mm and less than 2. 5 mm in diameter (PM10 and PM2.5, respectively) (Baldi et al., 1999; Chew et al., 1999; McConnell et al., 1999; McDonnell et al., 1999; Neukirch et al., 1998; Ostro et al., 1998; Sheppard et al., 1999; Taggart et al., 1996). Particulate matter is the product of solid and liquid particles being directly emitted into the air from such things as diesel engine soot, road and agricultural dust, and manufacturing processes, while SO2, NO2, and O3, are predominately byproducts of fuel combustion. Met with high resistance in Scotland, King Charles tried to resolve the conflict by swordpoint and had to call Parliament because his side of the conflict was not ready to go to battle, because he had a small amount of money. Almost at the same time, military rebellion happened in Ireland in November 1641, and Charles attempted to arrest five Parliament legislators. The primary objective for needle exchange programs (NEPs) is to prevent the spread of blood borne disease and is very successful in doing so. But, issues of morality due to the perception of drug enablement and the stigma of intravenous drug users (IDUs) and their potential effects on the decline of society are continually used as arguments for those against NEPs. It has been proven through many studies that these programs not only reduce harms associated with intravenous drug use, they are also cost effective and reduce the circulation of used syringes to the general population. Beyond epidemiological efforts, NEPs also provide a de stigmatized center for gathering and offers health services such as HIV testing, counselling and referrals to treatment for drug addiction. However, how to measure audit quality properly has been a controversial issue, because quality is not observable. With no uniform definition of audit quality, prior researchers developed various audit quality proxies. Earning quality is one of the most commonly used measure for audit quality. Client discretionary accruals, meet or beat earnings target, and likelihood of restatement are all under this category. Among those, discretionary accruals are the most widely used, because it is positively related to earnings management, which reflects audit quality. The purpose of this review is to summarize the most commonly used models to measure discretionary accruals by previous literature, and to help future studies to choose from these models when they are used as audit quality proxies. Among all the research papers, there are two main methods to calculate discretionary accruals: change dependent variables to accruals model (e.g., Jones Model, Modified Jones Model, and McNichols Model) and performance adjustment measure (Kothari, Leone, and Wasley, 2005). These heroes are typically characterized by courage, strength, honor, and the hardships they endure and eventually overcome. An epic hero can even be known to risk his or her life for the good of others. Gilgamesh and Achilles are perfect examples of what an epic hero truly is. They are both able to become successful despite their flaws and go on to become powerful men. Gilgamesh was two parts god and one part man. Many considered him to have far more power and strength than he was able to handle. He was a fierce, ruthless warrior and King who loved his country. The people of Uruk become afraid of ... For Gilgamesh it was Enkidu and for Achilles it was Patroclus. When these men died, our epic heroes were sent over the edge. Their means of grief were very different though. Achilles took a more emotional approach. He fasted, smeared himself with ash, beat the ground with his fists, and was emotionally distraught for days. The epic states that he utters a terrible, wrenching cry that his own mother hears him and approaches him with the water nymphs to learn of what is upsetting her son. After recovering from his emotional state, his anger then motivates him to return to battle. Gilgamesh however, refrained from outward emotions and instead went on a quest to help determine where exactly his friend went after passing. The Nazi past weighs most heavily on Germany and its citizens who still grapple today with what the Nazis mean to their identity. This struggle was much different in the years immediately following World War II and the subsequent creation of divided Germany than today. In the German Democratic Republic (East Germany), the Nazi past was completely ignored. Instead focused on the West as the enemy. In the Federal Republic of Germany the government also attempted to ignore the Nazi past, with the government focusing more on building a democracy rather than emphasizing the brutal past. However, in a free society issues of identity are much harder to contain . The Nazi past began to come up despite these concerted efforts to bury it, yet even when questions about the past began to be raised, people in the 1960s were nearly ignorant about the real atrocities that the Nazis had committed . From 1963 1965, State Attorney Richard Bauer indicted 22 Nazi officials who had worked at the Auschwitz Birkenau concentration camp . These trials attempted not only to educate average Germans about what had truly happened during World War II, but also to eliminate the idea that everyone who had committed these crimes were abnormal monsters, the concept that allowed the German population of the post war era to distance themselves from this evil. In the 1960s the concept of Auschwitz Birkenau, and the Nazi concentration ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
