How To Write A Synthesis Essay
Crafting an essay on the intricacies of composing a synthesis essay is no simple task. The
challenge lies not only in explaining the technical aspects of synthesis essay writing but also in
presenting the information in a coherent and engaging manner. It requires a comprehensive
understanding of the synthesis process, from selecting relevant sources to weaving them together
into a cohesive narrative.
One of the difficulties in writing such an essay is striking the right balance between theory and
practical application. Too much theoretical information without practical examples can leave the
reader bewildered, while an excess of examples without a clear theoretical foundation can
undermine the essay's credibility. Achieving the right equilibrium demands careful consideration
and thoughtful organization of the material.
Furthermore, addressing the diverse nature of synthesis essays poses another hurdle. The essay
must cater to a broad audience, including those who are new to the concept and those seeking a
deeper understanding. Striking a tone that is informative yet accessible requires skillful
navigation through complex concepts while maintaining clarity.
The process of drafting a synthesis essay essay itself becomes a miniature synthesis endeavor.
Researching and collecting information, analyzing sources, and ultimately fusing them into a
coherent piece mirrors the very essence of synthesis writing. It’s a meta-experience that adds
an extra layer of complexity to the task.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "How To Write A Synthesis Essay" involves not only
explaining the intricacies of synthesis but also embodying the principles of synthesis in the essay
itself. It is a challenging endeavor that demands a delicate balance between theory and practice,
catering to a diverse audience, and embodying the synthesis process within the essay. For those
seeking assistance with such essays or similar academic tasks, resources likeHelpWriting.net

Batman Analysis
Writing essays have never been easy for me. Describing my thoughts and feelings
just don t seem to turn into the right words I want to say. Coming up with a theme
and an argument is hard to convey, making the reader see what I m truly trying to
say. The hardest parts of writing essays for me is coming up with the right things to
say that correlate to my argument and doing so under a short period of time. For
starters, Im a slow worker. It takes me longer than the average student to come up
with the perfect essay. Its not that I don t understand, I just have trouble keeping up
with time. Which is another major problem I have, I never seem to have enough time
to complete all of my work so I have to pick which ones the most important. Along...

They contained elements to the story that broke cliche because they went for the
opposite of what feels right. The first one, Fear and Loathing, was about a mans drug
addiction and how his brain worked while on them. The other was about Batman s
death, from the point of view of his ghost. Both comics were engaging because
they weren t like other stories you expect to read. Their openings both had a
special effect that made you want to keep reading. In order to have a successful
story you must achieve the proper hook. This way when your reader starts the
story they want to finish it and find out what happens. When I first started reading
the comic about drugs, I was confused as to where this story was going to lead.
Drugs are something that is highly looked down upon and because this author
chose to write about it and poetry it as this mans passion, was confusing yet
engaging. His strength however was the curiosity as to how and why this person
was driving while on drugs and what role the partner was playing. His weakness in
the story however was the concept of using drugs and where the story was going. It
showed that he was about to become dangerous if necessary while on drugs stating
he would cut the head off of a man. While entertaining to see whether or not he
would, it made me feel that this man was stupid and I didn t have any attachment to
him nor
Reed Supermarket Case Study
JOHN A. QUELCH CAROLE CARLSON
Reed Supermarkets:
A New Wave of Competitors
At 4:30 p.m. on December 6, 2010, Meredith Collins, VP of Marketing for Reed
Supermarkets, walked down the sidewalk of the 10 store strip mall that housed
Reed s Westgate Plaza branch in Columbus, Ohio. Collins didn t shop; instead she
took mental notes about store traffic, first at the Reed store and then at an indirect
but increasingly worrisome kind of competitor a dollar store. The Reed was
predictably well lit and inviting, and Collins could see three registers open and two
or three customers in line at each. Not too bad she thought, but not what I would
hope for at this time of day, this close to the holidays. She d felt the same way at two

While Reed had started as a lower end retailer 80 years ago, it had continually
expanded and upgraded its stores, adding new departments and expanding higher
margin offerings like prepared foods and flowers. For two decades, Reed stores had
been considered high end in the supermarket business. In addition to a full
assortment of standard groceries, baked goods, meats, seafood, paper goods, and
health and beauty items and a pharmacy, a typical Reed s featured a vast case of
mostly fresh seafood, including live lobsters and crabs; imported packaged goods
ranging from 27 kinds of mustard to three different brands of snails; and an array
of 20 different prepared entrees available for takeaway. The chain was well known
for the quality of its produce and its emphasis on organic produce. Reed also
differentiated itself by offering attractive stores, long hours, elegant (and often
creative) serving case displays, and exceptionally attentive customer service. The
checkout clerks wore distinctive red aprons, greeters offered free cookies to
customers on the weekend, high staffing levels ensured short checkout times, and
runners shuttled bags to customers cars no tipping, please.
The Columbus Market
The Columbus, Ohio, market was relatively stable, but Reed had experienced
modest share declines in the past which was why Collins had taken a week away
from the home office to eyeball shopping centers there. The Columbus metropolitan
area, where 25 Reed stores were located, was
Daisy Buchanan Character
Defended as one of the most sympathetic female characters in classic literature and
simultaneously argued to be selfish and conniving, The Great Gatsby s Daisy
Buchanan is a controversial woman, to say the least. From the moment that she is
found in the view of the book s narrator, Nick Carraway, she s described as an
otherworldly beauty of ethereal quality. This suits the character, who can often be
equally airheaded and helpless in the way that she speaks, as if she s performing
for an audience only she can see. At the same time, she is a self proclaimed cynic,
possessing a deep understanding of the world around her and her place in society as
a woman, going so far as to wish that her daughter would grow up to be a beautiful,
little fool because that is all that she can be in... Show more content on

The character s behavior can be confusing to a reader having high and low points
that can be hard to keep up with. It is a plausible, however, that Daisy Buchanan
exhibits symptoms of bipolar disorder. Also, known as manic depressive illness,
patients that are diagnosed with this are shown to have unusual shifts in mood,
energy, activity levels, and the ability to carry out day to day tasks (National
Institute of Mental Health, 2016). Shifts in mood are divided into two types of
episodes. High points, or manic episodes, are characterized by feelings of elation,
talking about many different things at once, and performing risky activities. Low
points, or depressive episodes, are characterized by feelings of sadness and/or
emptiness, a lack of enjoyment, and having trouble concentrating (National Institute
of Mental Health, 2016). Daisy Buchanan exhibits these

analysis, financial analysis, and portfolio (SBU analysis). The purpose of the analysis
is to picture Tesla s current strategies.
Secondly, Porter s 5 forces, customer behavior (7 o framework), PESTLE, market
structure and size, competitors analysis will be used to describe the electric car
industry. The purpose of
Nt1310 Unit 8 Blocks
Blocks are the logical records which breaks the area used by a partition; clusters are
physical bodies of a hard disk. Hard disk is usually broken in to cylinders and
cylinders are broken down in to clusters. Most HDD arrive from the factory with a
low level pattern where, block size = 512 bytes. The NTFS file systemcan produce
cluster sizes of a multiple of 512 having a default of 8 blocks for every cluster. Size
of a block is multiple of size of cluster, such that a logical block will fit a definite
number of physical clusters one file one cluster . That is, in every cluster will be
installed information belonging at most to a single file. As an aftermath, when
scripting a file in a hard disk, some cluster remains incompletely filled or fully
unused. As the operating system can only write an entire block, it pursues that the
idle space should be fit with some strings of bytes that can be used by others. It
should be remembered that these data are saved in a disk because of the operating
system curbs to write only on an entire block, they could be detected by locating...

Again, the manner in which this functionality is served depends from file system
to file system. The operating system utilizes the free space only to save new data,
since if there is no file linked to that block then there will be no information to
manage. Data present in the free space will be translucent to nearly all the
applications. It is essential to observe that operating systems provide capability to
read random blocks from the file system, whether they are termed as free space or
not, so data saved in free space are not translucent to the operating system. A
proficient user could hide meaningful information inside blocks recognized as free
space by the file system; these data are not related with any files, so they cannot be
located by a file searching

What has given the Prius continued growth has been the ever growing trend of
higher gas prices that has led many gas guzzling Americans to take a second look at
the Toyota Prius, this is evident by recent trend in increase in the U.S. Prius sales in
which there were 15,556 in 2001. They increased to 20,119 in 2002, from 2003 to
2004 the Prius saw a 110% increase in sales.
We Got Company: Competition
Toyota has been able to prove that the Hybrid vehicle is not the vehicle equivalent
of the pet rock. Creating this opening for the hybrid market has given Toyota a lot
of competition. The Prius s closest competitor came from Toyota s chief rival
Honda, which a year after the introduction of the Prius saw the arrival of the Honda
Insight in the Asian markets. The Insight provides consumers with a more fuel
economic vehicle at 61 / 70 mpg, which are at about the same price, with a 10 mpg
advantage in city miles over the Prius and a 25 mpg advantage in highway travel.
What the Insight does not have is the Space, the Honda Insight has an overall space
of 155.1 inches while the Prius has an additional twenty inches
Australian Stereotypes
How do you compare to the average Australian?
Australia is a large and diverse country, and every five years, the Census aims to
gather information from every citizen across the country. The census looks at the
characteristics of the typical Australian. However, the fact that no one meets all the
criteria of the average Australian shows the considerable, growing diversity of the
country.
Is the average Australian a man or a woman?
Despite many people s perception of the typical Australian being male, the average
Australian actually a woman: according to the 2011 census, 50.6% of Australia s
population are female.

What is their religion?
The average Australian belongs to a Christian religion. The most common religion is
Catholic at 25.3% of Australia s population. The next most common religious
affiliation is actually no religion at 25.3% of Australia s population.
What do they do for a living?
For both men and women the most common occupation in Australia, according to the
2011 census was a sales assistant. For men, other common occupations were a truck
driver, electrician, and retail manager, for women other common occupations were a
general clerk, primary school teacher, and office manager.
How many hours do they work?
The average employed man worked 41 hours during the week before Census Night
in 2011 and the average employed woman worked 32 hours. However, the situation
became reversed when comparing to the unpaid domestic work. The average man
did less than five hours in the last week while the average woman did five hours or
more.

Compare And Contrast Louis Dumont And The Caste
System
Write a short note on the similarities and differences in the perspectives on caste
adopted by Louis Dumont and B.R. Ambedkar.
Dumont s perspective on caste system
Dumont s perspective on caste system was primarily concerned with the ideology
of the caste system. His understanding of caste lays emphasis on attributes of caste
that is why his approach is called attributional approach to the caste system. For
him caste is set of relationships of economic, political and kinship systems,
sustained by certain values which are mostly religious in nature. Hierarchy in
modern western sense has been replaced by the term social stratification which itself
proves to be hindrance in the understanding of the peculiarities of caste system in
India. Caste is not a form of social stratification, the ideology of caste system is
directly contradicted to egalitarian theory of west . Dumont argues that if caste is a
social stratification than caste and social class are phenomena of same nature,(2) that
hierarchy is incomprehensible, (3) that in the Indian system the separation and the
interdependence of groups are subordinated to this sort of obscure or shamefaced
hierarchy(hierarchy itself is shame faced) caste is a limiting case of social class in
modern sense of the term. Dumont agrees with Bougle s ... Show more content on

Scheduled caste, experience (lived experience) plays an important epistemological
role in production of thoughts. Experience is prior to thinking and knowing. For
him existing society is driven by text like Manu smriti, which has formidable
cognitive influence on conservative social consciousness. This makes it difficult for
Dalits or women to rely on such texts. Whereas for Dumont India was a foreign
Land and he did not have lived experience also that s way unable to produce any

Ohm s law From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia This article is about the law related
to electricity. For other uses, see Ohm s acoustic law. V, I, and R, the parameters of
Ohm s law. Ohm s law states that the current through a conductor between two points
is directlyproportional to the potential difference across the two points. Introducing
the constant of proportionality, the resistance,[1] one arrives at the usual
mathematical equation that describes this relationship:[2] where I is the current
through the conductor in units of amperes, V is the potential difference measured
across the conductor in units of volts, and R is the resistance of the conductor in units
of ohms.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This application of Ohm s law is illustrated with examples in How To Analyze
Resistive Circuits Using Ohm s Law on wikiHow. Other versions Ohm s law, in
the form above, is an extremely useful equation in the field of electrical/electronic
engineering because it describes how voltage, current and resistance are
interrelated on a macroscopic level, that is, commonly, as circuit elements in an
electrical circuit. Physicists who study the electrical properties of matter at the
microscopic level use a closely related and more general vector equation,
sometimes also referred to as Ohm s law, having variables that are closely related
to the V, I, and R scalar variables of Ohm s law, but which are each functions of
position within the conductor. Physicists often use this continuum form of Ohm s
Law:[31] where E is the electric field vector with units of volts per meter
(analogous to V of Ohm s law which has units of volts), J is thecurrent density
vector with units of amperes per unit area (analogous to I of Ohm s law which has
units of amperes), and ПЃ (Greek rho ) is the resistivity with units of ohmВ·meters

sometimes written[32] as J = E where Пѓ (Greek sigma ) is the conductivity which is

Concentration of immigrant populations was highest in four of America s largest
cities; New York, Boston, Pittsburgh, and Chicago. Five out of every six Irish and
Russian immigrants lived in a city. Three out of four Italian and Hungarian
immigrants came to America with very little money to buy farms or farming
equipment. Others settled in cities because farming in America was very different
from that of Europe. Some immigrants, such as the Slavs, simply came to America
too late to acquire land. Jewish and Irish preferred the city because it provided a
chance to worship with other Jewish or Irish without persecution.
Germans America, and what they faced after they landed on our shores. We will
begin with the German immigrants who arrived after 1800. After 1800, Germans still
poured into the United States, but for different reasons than previous generations.
Modernization and population growth forced many Germans from their respective
family businesses. In the United States, most Germans lived in the countryside. Large
numbers could be found in the Midwest and Texas. Most of the West Coast farmers
would sacrifice fertile land for a closer location to other Germans. They would cluster
together to form communities not unlike the Chinatowns.
Strangely Germans are the only immigrant group that tended to against each other.
These divisions were based on geography, ideology and
The Most Famous Guitar Players For Find Success At Fame
One of the more famous guitar players to find success at FAME was Duane
Allman. In September of 1968, Allman went to visit Hall, with the hopes of joining
FAME as a studio musician. Hall remembered that Allman was a huge fan of the
things I was doing Jimmy Hughes, Arthur Alexander, Clarence Carter, Joe Tex. He
knew about all the records I was cutting and was heavy into black music. However,
at the time, Hall did not need another guitar player. This did not scourge Allman
and he stayed in the Shoals, waiting for his chance. When Duane finally did get the
chance to play for Rick Hall, he made a lasting first impression One day we were

The day Johnson and the other section member informed Hall of their plans, Hall
signed a million dollar contract with Capitol Records to produce artists on FAME

year to become FAME s exclusive band, but they earned nearly double that figure
the year before and could not justify signing Hall s offer. Johnson remembers that
Hall had been up all night, but I thought he reacted good under the circumstances.
He did tell us, I would do the same thing, but you ll never make it. Hall immediately
started looking for other local musicians and found Junior Lowe on guitar, Jesse
Boyce on bass, Freeman Brown on drums, and Clayton Ivey on keyboards. They
became known as the Fame Gang. Over the years Hall would bring new musicians
into the Fame Gang. Linda Hall states, There was always a different set of
musicians trying to get started, they weren t as good as the ones Rick used all the
time, but he just called these guys in and developed his new rhythm section. He had
done this at least four or five times. A studio musician has to be very motivated,

127 Hours Film Techniques
With the continuous development of advertising and communication, film trailers are
a key resource used in this industry to persuade audiences to view a film. To allow a
sense of anticipation towards the audience the elements of the storyline, music,
themes, camera angles as well as the characters and actors are all used incorporation
to achieve this. This identified strategy is a significant tool used in effective
communication to efficiently persuade the audience to view the film, based on their
emotional response. This approach is both used in the two 2012 inspiring films
based on true stories. 127 hours directed by Danny Boyle follows a skilled hiker who

In 127 Hours the camera angles chosen not only enhanced the intensity of the scene,
but enhanced the desired emotion portrayed. For example, in the opening scene the
use of a split screen showing different stages of the protagonist life imply to the
audience his being stages of reflection. This feature encourages the audience to
connect with the main character and relate to his overall struggles. The use of a
camera recorder throughout the trailer is a narrating technique used by the director to
imply a more intimate connection between the audiences. The audience members can
easily connect with the emotions, this is a persuasive technique which in turn, is an
effective tool of communication. Hyper sensory is also used as a form of
communication to influence the emotional response from the audience. The music
used throughout the trailer is comfortable and relaxing whilst allowing the audience
to focus on the elements of significance. The Impossible uses serval visual features in
enhancing the impact towards the audience. To exaggerate the intensity of the trailer
the directors use flashes of black scenes to impact the effect of the tsunami. This
visual feature is also used incorporation with the striking music of intensity to again,
influence an emotional connection towards the audience. When these two stylistic
features are applied together a connection is made with the hyper senses of the
viewer. With the strong visual features and corresponding sound it triggers an
emotional connection of sympathy towards the main character. These features are all
efficacious form of communication, which in turn assist the advertising of the film
trailer enhancing the appeal to the

Q1. Describe Dennis s health as an adult living in London. Use an example to support
your answer.
The physical aspect of Dennis s health is extremely poor, his cardiovascular health
capability is shown to be very weak and this can be seen in numerous scenes but,
particularly the scene where he is a chasing a shoplifter, he is extremely tired and
cannot run for more than 30 seconds without having trouble breathing and sweating

smoking habit, alcohol abuse and bad diet. All these bad habits has lead him to have

Mentally, Dennis is not in health either. He struggles with anxiety and sadness,

Influence Of Money In The Great Gatsby
There are a lot of people in the world who let money rule and change them. The
movie The Great Gatsby is a prime example of how money effect people lives.
Money plays a part in each of their lives. It may cause people to want what the next
person got, be selfish, and be reckless, so it is known for the root of all evil. In The
Great Gatsbymovie, Jey Gatsby was the man who worked to get to where he was in
life. Then you have Mr. and Mrs. Myrtle who were not rich at all. Tom Buchanon
on the other hand, was born with a silver spoon. People like Tom looked down on
people like Gatsby , and Mr. and Mrs. Myrtle because the riches felt like if you
were not born rich, then you are considered poor. So it brings a lot of altercations
to the table. Rich people feel like they have their whole life to do whatever and
whenever, while poor people have to think about their next move. Tom is rich
from old money, so he does what he wants, but Gatsby is rich by new money but he
is also able to do what he wants.Gatsby was able to throw parties just like any other
rich person, but then you have the Myrtle family who is not really able to do much
at all. That just goes to show how people are categorized by their background
instead of what they really have. For instance, in Beverly Hills, that is where rich
people stay, so if someone wants to visit the neighborhood but does not stay there,
then they cannot enter the area because that area is only for the rich people that stay
there. It was

The Pledge Should Be Allowed In The United States
The argument of being made to stand and say the pledge has become a hot topic.
People believe that the portion of Under God is unconstitutional and should be
taken out. However there are also people who believe that everyone should say the
pledge to their country. There is deep and rich history on the pledge itself. The
pledge should still be said in public schools to keep a sense of patriotism in the
country. First off the history of the pledge started about 120 years ago. The pledge
was invented for the 400 year anniversary of Columbus discovering America.
According to Freedom of Religion Foundation, Seeking ideas to commemorate the
400th anniversary of the discovery of America on Columbus Day, 1892, President
Benjamin Harrison had initiated a call for the development of a special patriotic
school program to highlight the event. Bellamy and Upham were able to line up the
National Education Association to support Youth s Companion as a sponsor of the
observance, and arranged for President Harrison and Congress to announce a national
proclamation which centered around an American flag ceremony and (then... Show

The pledge is still said today to instill a sense of nation pride. People who believe
the pledge should still be said and there should not be any controversy at all claim
that if an American citizen is in America they should take pride in their country and

allegiance is said in schools is to instill a sense of patriotism amongst students.
Some believe that it shouldn t be controversial at all because it the process is just
what it is described as: a pledge. It is certainly far from being an oath which can
bind a student against what they are saying. There is no rule saying that you have to
say every word of the pledge, if a certain part is offensive just do not say that

1.Evaluate TMS s system of measuring, evaluating, and rewarding the performances
of the regional general managers. Be sure to identify the key issues related to
managerial authority and financial responsibility.
TMS s system of measuring, evaluating, and rewarding the performances of the
regional general managers was, as they called it, tiered . They started the rewards at
the top, the general managers, and allowed them to allocate the rewards throughout
their salesmen based on sales, and when the sales occurred. With TMS being the
largest seller of import cars and trucks in the United States (with sales over one
million), they were evaluated based on the number of promotional vehicles they

They should start the change in some of their more profitable divisions of the
company. They have proved that they are profitable so they have the human
resources, marketing and finance divisions in line. They would need to have someone
in to teach them about the port of entry division to make them a solid solo division
that is completely decentralized from TMC. From there they would need to monitor
the division to see where any possible issues may occur and iron them out. From
there they could begin implementing them in other more profitable divisions and
slowly turn them all into independent operations.
I suggested starting with the most profitable divisions first due to the fact that they
are financially stable and would be able to handle any issues that may arise during
this transition. They would be the most resilient to change and would be a good
model for all the other division to see what is to come and what changes to expect.
Case Analysis:
Key Issues:
Change was the main issue of this case. TMS was expected to change from a
centralized company to a decentralized company. They wanted their GM s to be
more responsible for what was happening in their divisions, not only their successes,
but their failures to. The GM s were to take over the finance, human resources,
marketing, and port of entry operations. TMC felt that this would make them look at
long term goals,

being at the AA meeting. When questioned about my role, I stated that I am a nursing
student who wanted to experience an AA meeting, to learn more about addictionand
how it impacts individuals lives, and what role I can do, as a nurse, to provide
care for a current and/or recovering alcoholic. This response sparked an interest in
many of the members, as they began to ask about my schooling. I answered
questions, such as where I want to school, what I liked about the program, and how
I viewed those with addiction. I kept it short and sweet, as I did not want to take too
much time out of the meeting to discuss myself. As the topic of discussion moved
from my schooling to the meeting, I quietly observed and actively listened to the
various stories and advice. After the meeting finished, I thanked both the leader and
the members for sharing their personal stories with me and allowing me the

Battered Women s Syndrome As A Legal Defense
Abstract
In this analysis, I will attempt to cover the basis of Battered Women s Syndrome
as a legal defense. This will cover the historical context of Battered Women s
Syndrome as a legal defense, which will of course require a brief review of what
battered women s syndrome is by using experts in the field, usually psychologists.
When reviewing the historical context of such a subversive topic, it is essential to
the structure that we look at actual cases involving battered women such as abuse
being reported and cases that have actually been brought to trial as well as the
ending verdicts as the factors that may have caused the outcome. We must also look
at different cases as to which the defense was used, such as situations where a
battered women s husband was sleeping, or any other relative situation as to which
there was question of the imminence of a threat.
An Empirical Political Analysis of Battered Women s Syndrome as a Legal Defense
Before looking at the use of battered women s syndrome as a legal defense, it
would help to look at the definition of who exactly a battered woman is. In Daniel
Saunders research of rates of husband and wife violence, he uses the term battered
women in the broad sense to mean female recipients of any form of physical force
that is intended to hurt. Therefore, Battered Women s Syndrome is the name given to
the measurable psychological changes that may occur after prolonged terms of abuse
and is considered a subgroup of

The Realist Philosophy in Education
Introduction
The realist philosophy views the learner as a sense mechanism, a cog in the education
machine (Ozmon, 2012). The teachers serve as a demonstrator, an authoritative
guide, who serves as the expert of the applicable subject matter (Ozmon, 2012). The
teacher would share their knowledge of reality to their students as it relates to the
physical world and their reality (Ozmon, 2012). The realist curriculum is the subject
matter of the external world and the realist teaching method as mastering hard facts
and organized systematic information (Ozmon, 2012). According to the realist
philosophy students are taught factual information for mastery in order to survive in
the material world (Ozmon, 2012). The realist philosophy aligns with the purpose of
any academic advising program as both the purpose of education for both realists and
academic adviser is to teach knowledge that will provide students with the skills
necessary to achieve a secure life (Ozmon, 2012). Realist education theory and the
academic advising philosophy promote the meaningful development of academic
plans that align with the student s life goals (Ozmon, 2012). This paper will discuss
the realist education theory as it relates to the purpose of an academic advising
program in higher education by analyzing the aims of education, curriculum, role of
the teacher, and teaching methods in the realism education model and academic
advising model.

Ethical Values And Moral Values
Ethics in a sense is everything we hold dear to us, meaning our moral values. The
development of figuring out what is important to us requires intellectual and critical
evaluation. By not developing ones own moral values, you are simply taking the
route of taking the moral beliefs given to you by your family or society. You re
accepting them because its easier than questioning them. However, this has its
setbacks, by choosing not to do ethics you are essentially undermining your own
personal freedom of choice. By accepting beliefs of your culturewithout question,
then those viewpoints are not truly yours. Another setback to not asking questions
is that your reasons or responses will be lacking understanding. Moral principles
are might be absolute or might not, even so we apply them to situations may be
different and require you to evaluate the situation at hand, which is hard to do if
you ve never taken the time to do so before. The third importance is that without
taking the time to question and make your own moral code, you then in turn lose
intellectual growth. You do not gain new understandings of the ever changing
world around you; you become stuck in a stagnant world, which is not reality. I
think this class will help me look at moral judgments in a more logical and ethical
way. I have already realized from this class that I have based my ethical decisions on
my emotion and the way I feel which is only one form of ethics. This class will go
over various theories to

Centripetal Acceleration Lab Report
Introduction: As objects move in a circular motion or change direction, they are
accelerating, this form of acceleration is known as centripetal acceleration (ac). The
direction of the acceleration is always towards the centre of the circle. Centripetal
acceleration can be represented by the formula ac=V2r=42rT2=42rf2. In these
formulas, v is the velocity, r is the radius of the circle, T is the period, and f is the
frequency. Furthermore, velocity can be represented by the following equations
v=2rT=2rf. In order to calculate frequency, the free body diagram must be taken into
consideration in order to calculate the forceof tension. In this lab, the force of tension
and gravity are assumed to be the only forces. Furthermore, the... Show more content

As a result of this, the stopper will complete the necessary rotations in fewer seconds.
Finally, in turn, this allows the frequency to increase as the radius decreases, proving
they are inversely proportional.
Finally, the frequency and the mass of the spinning object (rubber stopper) are
inversely proportional to one another specifically that as the mass increases, the
frequency decreases. As the spinning mass s weight increases, it would take more
force to rotate it causing it to slow down. These larger time intervals would
drastically decrease the frequency as the growing mass would result in a lower
frequency.
Experimental Design: A hanging mass was connected to a string that passed through
a hollow tube that had a rubber stopper connected to the string on the other side of
the tube. A person held the glass tube and spun the string above their head so the
rubber stopper would spin and raise the hanging mass at a constant radius from the
hollow tube.
Independent Variables: Tension from the hanging mass, the radius, and the mass of
the rubber stopper.
Dependent Variables: Frequency of the rotations
Controlled Variables: Gravity, and the apparatus
Procedure: Please refer to page 152 to 153 of Hirsch, Alan J. Nelson Physics 12.

How Does Andy Warhol Show Signs Of A Death Effect
The main body of this paper compares Andy Warhol s auction data from 1985 to
1996 to Richard Agnello s avant garde and general art market indexes for signs of a
Death Effect. Compared against both the avant garde and general art market, Warhol
shows signs of a slight Death Effect.
This appendix examines Roy Lichtenstein s market for signs of a Death Effect as
well. Lichtenstein was older than Warhol and the usual artist whom the literature
suggests can demonstrate a Death Effect. Heinrich Ursprung and Christian Wiermann

younger artists are not well enough established and the market already anticipates the
death of older artists. To analyze Lichtenstein s... Show more content on

The general art market, as captured in Mei and Moses s index, began to fall in 1995
and continued to fall until 1997 (Figure 9). The art market began to rise in 1998, but

year Lichtenstein and the general market diverged. By 1999 Lichtenstein s market

since total sale prices fell below the general art market.
Lichtenstein s market generally followed the Dow Jones Industrial Averagearound

Analysis Of The Old Man And The Sea By Ernest
Hemingway
Is the achievement of victory an indicator of how valuable a man s life is? This
can be answered by examining several characters and the journey they travel in
different stories. The short novel The Old Man and the Sea is written by Ernest
Hemingway, and is the story of a Cuban fisherman who battles with a giant fish for
many days. The next book, A Lesson Before Dying is written by Ernest J. Gaines,
and tells the story of a man named Grant who is tasked with convincing a young
man sentenced to death that he is not an animal like everyone says he is. Finally,
William Faulkner s Nobel Prize acceptance speech tells writers it is their duty to
encourage people to be courageous in the face of danger. The characters in each of
these stories have different life journeys but similar outcomes through achieving
moral victory. Achieving a moral victory contributes to the overall success of one s
life.
In The Old Man and the Sea, the main character, Santiago, is an unlucky fisherman
who has a tenacious battle with a large marlin while fishing in the Gulf Stream.
Santiago was considered unlucky due to the fact that he had gone eighty four days
without catching a single fish. Although he felt rejected and defeated, he did not
allow the opinions of the other fishermen and even his young friend, Manolin, keep
him from moving forward. He thinks, maybe today. Every day is a new day. It is
better to be lucky. (Hemingway 32) and on the eighty fifth day he was determined to

Kwakiutl Tribe
Across centuries people have asked, what does it mean to live a wholesome life? Is it
found in material objects or by putting faith in the unseen? For native peoples, the
answer is found in time. Time the past, present, and future. A relationship to history
and the future allows for better understanding of personal identity, cultural tradition,
and the ability to change wrongdoing in humanity. Applied ingenious studies
examines dance, music, art, and religion as a means linking these elements together.
Dance and music are important characteristics in indigenous life and celebrates
historical significance with stories. Reflection of the past is associated with dance in
the modern era with groups that keep the traditions alive, like the one in Dances for a

The Political Dangers Of Santa Fe Trails
The political dangers of the Santa Fe Trails are not unique to a time period; they
were however differed in severity only shared across the timeline. Throughout the
nineteenth century, the Southwest faced a range of challenges, including the
Mexican American War (1846 1848), which was fought over the disputed
boundary of Texas after it was annexed in 1845. The Mexicans and the Native
Americans continued to cause problems for political agents in the Southwest.
Challenges in the Southwest such as the relations with the Mexicans and Native
Americans continued through to The American Civil War, 1861 65. James Silas
Calhoun (b.1802) was made Indian Agent in 1851 by President Fillmore. His
political history begins in 1825 working within Georgia Legislature, starting as a
Democratic he became a Whig in the early 1830 s. He died in Independence
Missouri in 1852. James Calhoun s correspondence illustrates a wide range of
circumstances from which the political situation can be deduced. The
correspondence covers the period of his time in office: 1849 52. Alongside other
contemporary accounts the details of the political situation can be concurred across
the timeline, although the situation adapted over the time period of this study.

Simone Ernestine Lucie Marie Bertrand De Beauvoir
Simone Ernestine Lucie Marie Bertrand de Beauvoir was born January 9, 1908 in
Paris, France. She died of a pulmonary edema on April 14, 1986. The seventy eight
years between her birth and death were filled with rigorous academia,
philosophical exploration, rich literary production and fascinating polyamorous
intimate relationships. Although astutely aware of the philosophical ponderings
of God s existence, de Beauvoir struggled with religious ideas until the age of
fourteen, despite her mother Françoise (née) Brasseur s devote Catholic
teachings. De Beauvoir professed her lack of faith for much of her life. It is in this
atheism, that de Beauvoir began to define her now infamous existential truths. First,
that without God to pardon us for our sins we are totally and inexcusably
responsible for our actions (Bergoffen). Second, and perhaps most importantly
through the lens of de Beauvoir s life works, the theme of freedom of and from
others and the ethical responsibility that the individual has to him or herself, other
individuals and to oppressed groups (Mussett) and that if all humans were to adhere
to this social obligation, the derogatory category of the Other would be eradicated.
Neither the aged nor women, nor anyone by virtue of their race, class, ethnicity or
religion would find themselves rendered inessential (Bergoffen). In 1947, de
Beauvoir narrates in Pour une Morale de l AmbiguГЇtГ© (The Ethics of Ambiguity)

The Process of Fred Meyer s Organizational Structure Selection Introduction
According to Bateman and Snell, Two fundamental concepts around which
organizations are structured are differentiation and integration (2011, pg. 227).
Differentiation refers to the different units that work on different kinds of tasks with
the use of different skills and work methods in an organization. These differentiated
units are combinedand coordinated into an overallproduct for the purpose of
achieving the organization s mission as the result of integration. The two
fundamental concepts indicate how the organization ... Show more content on

Through the dozens of merchandise sections within these departments, the company
is able to offer customers one stop shopping convenience in addition to the company
operating a dairy, bakery, kitchen, and photo plan. These functional approaches
incorporate the fundamental concept of integration with combining and coordinating
products and services to offer the consumers one stop shopping (Smith amp;Albaum,
2005). This type of marketing and operational strategiesprovides the company an
advantage in multiple areas of business while contributing to the organization s
direction and mission. Fred Meyer s organizational structures are effective in the
company s strategy of seeking competitiveness by enabling each department and each
product division in response to the local competition with marketing and operational
strategies. The position of the company is measuredby concepts of awareness, use,
share, and competitive evaluation in determining the appropriate organizational
structure to achieve the goals of the organization. This position of the company
impacts the organizational functions in accordance to the organizational design and
organizational structure. The operational and marketing functions performed by Fred
Meyer reflect qualities of the organization geared toward the appropriate
organizational design to achieve the direction of the company. Organizational Design

(www.reslitour.com/Historiaeng.htm ) Logrono is a City in Spain that in 1521,
was put under attack by the French. It was left under attack for seventeen days
untill the French were finally defeated on June 11th.On this day each year the feast
of St. Barnabas is held in Logrono City. This is a major Feast each year which
marks the end of the siege. It is an event that many people go to learn about the
history and enjoy some of the traditions in the City. During the time of the siege, the
city was under the rule of Captain Ere Rod. This seemed to be an advantage as to
how the people of Logrono survived the siege (https://www.youtube.com
/watch?v=KcqMKlOHjBg ).
Logrono is referred to as the Wine Capital of the world. People travel here to enjoy
the wine produced and learn about the history. Population
Logrono has a population of about 152107 people. This was last recorded in 2015.
This is a reasonably small number of people compared to the rest of Spain. With this
amount of people living here, it would leave more room for the tourism industry.
As Logrono is extremely popular for its production of wine it increases the visitors
who come to this Region. This ultimately would lead to the boost in the economy
there.
The smaller population leaves more room for the people within the City to build their
industries without other people coming in taking over with building site for
What Are The Four Great Inventions Of Ancient Chinese...
The four great inventions by ancient Chinese people that have had a huge impact on
the entire world are papermaking, gunpowder, printing, and the compass. Paper was a
great contribution to the spread and development of civilization. The first nation to
invent paper was china (www.fmprc.gov). Words were written on numerous natural
materials by ancient people before it was invented (www.fmprc.gov). Mesopotamians
used earthen plates, Egyptians used grass stalks, Europeans used sheepskin, Indians
used sheep skin, and the early Chinese used bamboo, wooden strips, tortoise shells, or
shoulder blades of an ox (www.fmprc.gov). These materials proved themselves
unsuitable as Chinese civilization developed because of their bulk and weight

Risk Factors For Alzheimer s Disease
Abstract
Alzheimer s disease is a medical condition affecting families throughout the United
States. The disease is known for being a form of dementia that affects a person s
memory, behavior, and thinking. A variety of risk factors contribute to a person
becoming more susceptible to the disease, along with several ways a person can
prevent it. Alzheimer s disease is the sixth leading cause for death in the United
States and is the most costly condition nationwide. This disease is becoming a
growing concern for people s health, which is why it is being largely focused on in

Ayatollah Khomeini changed his outlook on nuclear power in 1984. Iran began
seeking international help from states like Pakistan, China and Russia to build its
nuclear program to provide a base for a military usage of nuclear power. The United
States tried to curtail Iran from gaining such help from different international partners
but failed in stopping other states in assisting Iran in becoming closer to nuclear
weapons capabilities. Russia gave key technology to help build the Arak heavy water
reactor, China gave Iran a large quantity of uranium hexafluoride (UF6), or
yellowcake and Pakistan provided Iran with blueprints of a P 1 centrifuge, a nuclear
technology used to enrich uranium. Iran s current nuclear program consists of
complete nuclear fuel capabilities. To include uranium mining, milling, conversion,
and enrichment facilities. Iran has the ability to produce highly enriched uranium for
a nuclear weapon.
Iran s current nuclear program is made up of 20,000 gas centrifuges at 3 major
facilities. There is a large nuclear power reactor operating in Iran, and two more are
planned for construction. The country also has a major program developing uranium
enrichment, which was concealed for many years. Iran is now limiting its enrichment
related activities and ceasing its work on heavy water related projects, under an
internationally agreed Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. Most enriched uranium
has now been removed from the country.

Nursing Identity In Nursing
Nursing Identity: Nursing knowledge gathering process is moving along the
changing society. Initially, Nursings Knowledge were derived from other disciplines,
followed by a self generation phase, realizing that the legitimacy of any profession is
built on its ability to generate and apply theory. And, finally into a transformation
phase, in which nursing knowledge significantly influences its own practice as well
as that of other disciplines (N). These challenges in nursing knowledge development
has helped to learn how to consider nursing phenomena through many lenses and has
enhanced to improve the nursing of people. Although, Nursing has struggled to assert
itself as a profession, while enjoying a cherished status in society, failure to... Show

In order to improve practice, nurses need to search the literature continually and
critically. Nurses should impart research finding, synthesis relevant theoretical
information that can be applied into practice. Theory based nursing is the use of
various models, theories, and principles not only from the nursing science, but also
from the behavioural, medical and socio cultural disciplines to clinical nursing
practice. Beginning from the basic nursing education programme, all nurse should be
encouraged to use the theoretical basis for practice and seek ways to enhance the
knowledge base that support practice. And increase the reciprocal intervention among
theory, research and practice with great effort to bridge the theory practice gap.
Furthermore, nursing care when based on nursing values and knowledge are that is
central to the concept of health, example: caring, consciousness mutual process,

mission. If nursing is practices from these nursing perspective it will continue to its

Female Equality and the Q uran
Liberated or oppressed? The story of the Muslim woman is somewhere in the
middle of the two. This is not an issue of East versus West and, more importantly, it
s not about assigning blame. There is not a freed woman on one side and an
imprisoned on the other. Muslim women: the Western view of these ladies is one of
abuse, terror and oppression. The burka has become a symbol of male control and
domination, warping the truth about Islam, and turning it into a violent regime
focused on terrorism and ruling by fear. For example, if one were to do a Google
search on the words Muslim women, the preponderance of images are of burka clad
women, with the one exclusion, of course, being Miss Egypt in her bikini.
Regardless of where a woman finds herself in the world, she faces different
obstacles to her full emancipation. But is it Islam which in itself presents the
constraint to that full freedom? We regularly hear of women in Islam but not of
men, because they are not deemed oppressed in the same way. Islam is a very male
dominated religion in comparison to the smaller gender disparity of Sikhism, for
example. Some feel as though, within an Islamic paradigm, female emancipation
cannot occur. Yes, many Muslim women live in countries of the world where religion
is used to hide brutal oppression, taking Pakistan as the most current example.
Conversely, most do not see it fit to criticise the state of Europe s governmental
situation, where secularism is

ABSTRACT
The bacterial spirochete Borrelia burgdorferi is the causative agent of the most
commonly reported arthropod borne illness in the United States, Lyme disease. Select
proteins produced by B. burgdorferi contain the von Willebrand Factor A (VWFA)
domain, which is responsible for cell adhesion via interaction with the extracelluar
matrix (ECM), glycoproteins, and metalloproteases. Such interactions are often an
integral part of the infection process and may be especially important for B.
burgdorferi, which relies on environmental changes in both the vector and host to
colonize, transmit, and infect. BB0173, a VWFA domain containing protein, has been
evaluated based on topology and adherence to human ECM proteins and integrins, to
evaluate its role during the infection process. The confirmation of protein localization
was performed by cloning the each of the three BB0173 transmembrane domains
upstream of the luminal P2 domain of the integral membrane protein leader peptidase
found in Escherichia coli. Gene expression was investigated via immunoblot assays
using lysates from B.

Comparison of Authority Figures in Romeo and Juliet and Shakespeare in Love
Stoppard s satirical movie, Shakespeare in Love, is a play on Shakespeare s tragic
love story, Romeo and Juliet. Stoppard places Shakespeare himself into a
relationship with Viola De Lesseps, that resembles the relationship between Romeo
and Juliet. Stoppard incorporates countless parallels into the film from
Shakespeare s love story, including the character development of major authority
figures. The prince and the queen, Capulet and Viola s father, and the Friar and the
Priest are all figures of authority and parallel between the two works; Stoppard gave
his cast similarities to Shakespeare s characters, but they also varied in some
aspects. Stoppard s decision to both keep some and change some character
attributes of these authority figures helps contribute and develop the ending of the
movie, just as Shakespeare s character developments contributed to the outcome of
his plays. In Romeo and Juliet, the supreme authority is the Prince; he is the
governing individual in Verona, Italy where the setting takes place, just as Queen
Elizabeth is shown as the highest authority in England in Shakespeare in Love. One
key difference between these leaders in the stories is that the Prince is mostly
concerned with keeping the peace, while the Queen also appreciates and respects
Viola s risk and is excited by Viola and her relationship with Shakespeare. The Queen
is exhilarated by the whole ordeal. She

1.At the beginning of the Tertiary, there is a layer of andesite breccia a fast cooling
extrusive rock that has not traveled far from its original deposition. This indicates a
volcanic depositional environment. This formation was then intruded by intrusive
slower cooling rocks that create a noncomformity between it and the Walker
formation. The tuff breccia in the Walker formation is consistent with the same
depositional environment as the andesite breccia formation as they are both extrusive
rocks. It is possible that there was an eruption from a volcano that deposited the
highly viscous andesite rocks followed by slower falling ash, which was then ... Show

The Freeman Jewett shale formation is a strong indicator of a low energy/quiet
depositional environment. It is likely this layer was originally deposited offshore
in a marine environment. This is further supported by the following Bena Gravel
formation, which is emblematic of a transitional beach type environment with
pebble size sand and gravel. This coarser layer of sand and gravel overlying the
silty and sandy shale could be evidence for a regressive cycle and receding sea
levels. The Bena Gravel formation is eroded by Kern River Gravel which creates a
disconformity in the stratigraphy. The Kern River Gravel has stream like deposits
but since it cuts through the Bena Gravel Formation it is suggestive the Kern River
Gravel formation has a delta depositional environment. The Terrace formation
suggests a stream depositional environment. If terracing is present, it indicates a
decrease in discharge over time. The next formation, Alluvium, is evidence of an
alluvial fan deposition, a glacial deposition that has been reworked by meltwater, or
of a dried lake bed. (Levin p.86). Regardless of which, the Alluvium formation gives
away easily to mass wasting to from the landslide formation.
Most alluvial fan deposits occur near the margins of the depositional basin because
they occur in low areas at the base of the Temblor formation or Sierra Nevada s. The
marine deposits, beach
Baroque Art And The Baroque Era
Baroque Ornamentation
The use of ornamentation in Baroque music was a creative, and sometimes
improvised outlet for period musicians that spurred from human instinct to
manipulate melodic material. This urge to change melodic material by altering the
rhythm, or melody can be seen throughout history. Music including Gregorian chant,
which predates the Baroque era, contains some elements of ornamentation. It can be
seen throughout the Baroque, Classical era, and even in modern music. Although
improvisation has been repressed by modern conventions of performance, it shows
itself in the style of improvised jazz and avant garde free improvisation. Performers
use improvisation as a means of self expression and a way to express composer
intent. During the Baroque era, there were many different styles and methods of
ornamentation depending on location, style, date, and composer of a piece of music.
Understanding the historical developments of the Baroque era and the development
of ornamentation can help modern performers of Baroque music better understand
how to play a more historically accurate performance. The Baroque era lasted from
about 1600 to 1750. The music from the Baroque began to develop contrapuntally and
in harmonic complexity. Composers also relied on the performers ability to add
ornamentation and to complete the harmonies in a basso continue score through
improvisation. These scores consisted of a bass line with numbers and symbols
written above, to indicate the
Sea Otters Decline
The lecture and the article cover the decline in sea otters population in the recent few
years. Two main theories arised to explain that rapid decline. Pollution is suggested as
the main reason behind this decline by the author. However, the lecturer opposes that.
He believes that Predation is the main cause.
Firstly, the author states that pollution sources such as oil rigs near Alaskan beaches
is killing the sea otters. Also, a research held on water samples in the area showed
that it contains high levels of chemicals that may indirectly kill the otters. This
view is objected by the lecturer. He proposes that Orcas use the animals as source of
food, that is why there are no signs of dead otters on shores of Alaska, which would
however be

How To Write A Synthesis Essay. Useful tips for writing a synthesis essay

  • 1. How To Write A Synthesis Essay Crafting an essay on the intricacies of composing a synthesis essay is no simple task. The challenge lies not only in explaining the technical aspects of synthesis essay writing but also in presenting the information in a coherent and engaging manner. It requires a comprehensive understanding of the synthesis process, from selecting relevant sources to weaving them together into a cohesive narrative. One of the difficulties in writing such an essay is striking the right balance between theory and practical application. Too much theoretical information without practical examples can leave the reader bewildered, while an excess of examples without a clear theoretical foundation can undermine the essay's credibility. Achieving the right equilibrium demands careful consideration and thoughtful organization of the material. Furthermore, addressing the diverse nature of synthesis essays poses another hurdle. The essay must cater to a broad audience, including those who are new to the concept and those seeking a deeper understanding. Striking a tone that is informative yet accessible requires skillful navigation through complex concepts while maintaining clarity. The process of drafting a synthesis essay essay itself becomes a miniature synthesis endeavor. Researching and collecting information, analyzing sources, and ultimately fusing them into a coherent piece mirrors the very essence of synthesis writing. It’s a meta-experience that adds an extra layer of complexity to the task. In conclusion, writing an essay on "How To Write A Synthesis Essay" involves not only explaining the intricacies of synthesis but also embodying the principles of synthesis in the essay itself. It is a challenging endeavor that demands a delicate balance between theory and practice, catering to a diverse audience, and embodying the synthesis process within the essay. • 2. Batman Analysis Writing essays have never been easy for me. Describing my thoughts and feelings just don t seem to turn into the right words I want to say. Coming up with a theme and an argument is hard to convey, making the reader see what I m truly trying to say. The hardest parts of writing essays for me is coming up with the right things to say that correlate to my argument and doing so under a short period of time. For starters, Im a slow worker. It takes me longer than the average student to come up with the perfect essay. Its not that I don t understand, I just have trouble keeping up with time. Which is another major problem I have, I never seem to have enough time to complete all of my work so I have to pick which ones the most important. Along... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They contained elements to the story that broke cliche because they went for the opposite of what feels right. The first one, Fear and Loathing, was about a mans drug addiction and how his brain worked while on them. The other was about Batman s death, from the point of view of his ghost. Both comics were engaging because they weren t like other stories you expect to read. Their openings both had a special effect that made you want to keep reading. In order to have a successful story you must achieve the proper hook. This way when your reader starts the story they want to finish it and find out what happens. When I first started reading the comic about drugs, I was confused as to where this story was going to lead. Drugs are something that is highly looked down upon and because this author chose to write about it and poetry it as this mans passion, was confusing yet engaging. His strength however was the curiosity as to how and why this person was driving while on drugs and what role the partner was playing. His weakness in the story however was the concept of using drugs and where the story was going. It showed that he was about to become dangerous if necessary while on drugs stating he would cut the head off of a man. While entertaining to see whether or not he would, it made me feel that this man was stupid and I didn t have any attachment to him nor
  • 3. Reed Supermarket Case Study JOHN A. QUELCH CAROLE CARLSON Reed Supermarkets: A New Wave of Competitors At 4:30 p.m. on December 6, 2010, Meredith Collins, VP of Marketing for Reed Supermarkets, walked down the sidewalk of the 10 store strip mall that housed Reed s Westgate Plaza branch in Columbus, Ohio. Collins didn t shop; instead she took mental notes about store traffic, first at the Reed store and then at an indirect but increasingly worrisome kind of competitor a dollar store. The Reed was predictably well lit and inviting, and Collins could see three registers open and two or three customers in line at each. Not too bad she thought, but not what I would hope for at this time of day, this close to the holidays. She d felt the same way at two other Reeds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While Reed had started as a lower end retailer 80 years ago, it had continually expanded and upgraded its stores, adding new departments and expanding higher margin offerings like prepared foods and flowers. For two decades, Reed stores had been considered high end in the supermarket business. In addition to a full assortment of standard groceries, baked goods, meats, seafood, paper goods, and health and beauty items and a pharmacy, a typical Reed s featured a vast case of mostly fresh seafood, including live lobsters and crabs; imported packaged goods ranging from 27 kinds of mustard to three different brands of snails; and an array of 20 different prepared entrees available for takeaway. The chain was well known for the quality of its produce and its emphasis on organic produce. Reed also differentiated itself by offering attractive stores, long hours, elegant (and often creative) serving case displays, and exceptionally attentive customer service. The checkout clerks wore distinctive red aprons, greeters offered free cookies to customers on the weekend, high staffing levels ensured short checkout times, and runners shuttled bags to customers cars no tipping, please. The Columbus Market The Columbus, Ohio, market was relatively stable, but Reed had experienced modest share declines in the past which was why Collins had taken a week away from the home office to eyeball shopping centers there. The Columbus metropolitan area, where 25 Reed stores were located, was
  • 4. Daisy Buchanan Character Defended as one of the most sympathetic female characters in classic literature and simultaneously argued to be selfish and conniving, The Great Gatsby s Daisy Buchanan is a controversial woman, to say the least. From the moment that she is found in the view of the book s narrator, Nick Carraway, she s described as an otherworldly beauty of ethereal quality. This suits the character, who can often be equally airheaded and helpless in the way that she speaks, as if she s performing for an audience only she can see. At the same time, she is a self proclaimed cynic, possessing a deep understanding of the world around her and her place in society as a woman, going so far as to wish that her daughter would grow up to be a beautiful, little fool because that is all that she can be in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The character s behavior can be confusing to a reader having high and low points that can be hard to keep up with. It is a plausible, however, that Daisy Buchanan exhibits symptoms of bipolar disorder. Also, known as manic depressive illness, patients that are diagnosed with this are shown to have unusual shifts in mood, energy, activity levels, and the ability to carry out day to day tasks (National Institute of Mental Health, 2016). Shifts in mood are divided into two types of episodes. High points, or manic episodes, are characterized by feelings of elation, talking about many different things at once, and performing risky activities. Low points, or depressive episodes, are characterized by feelings of sadness and/or emptiness, a lack of enjoyment, and having trouble concentrating (National Institute of Mental Health, 2016). Daisy Buchanan exhibits these

Hard disk is usually broken in to cylinders and cylinders are broken down in to clusters. Most HDD arrive from the factory with a low level pattern where, block size = 512 bytes. The NTFS file systemcan produce cluster sizes of a multiple of 512 having a default of 8 blocks for every cluster. Size of a block is multiple of size of cluster, such that a logical block will fit a definite number of physical clusters one file one cluster . That is, in every cluster will be installed information belonging at most to a single file. As an aftermath, when scripting a file in a hard disk, some cluster remains incompletely filled or fully unused. As the operating system can only write an entire block, it pursues that the idle space should be fit with some strings of bytes that can be used by others. The operating system utilizes the free space only to save new data, since if there is no file linked to that block then there will be no information to manage. Data present in the free space will be translucent to nearly all the applications. It is essential to observe that operating systems provide capability to read random blocks from the file system, whether they are termed as free space or not, so data saved in free space are not translucent to the operating system. A proficient user could hide meaningful information inside blocks recognized as free space by the file system; these data are not related with any files, so they cannot be located by a file searching

His understanding of caste lays emphasis on attributes of caste that is why his approach is called attributional approach to the caste system. For him caste is set of relationships of economic, political and kinship systems, sustained by certain values which are mostly religious in nature. Hierarchy in modern western sense has been replaced by the term social stratification which itself proves to be hindrance in the understanding of the peculiarities of caste system in India. Caste is not a form of social stratification, the ideology of caste system is directly contradicted to egalitarian theory of west . Dumont argues that if caste is a social stratification than caste and social class are phenomena of same nature,(2) that hierarchy is incomprehensible, (3) that in the Indian system the separation and the interdependence of groups are subordinated to this sort of obscure or shamefaced hierarchy(hierarchy itself is shame faced) caste is a limiting case of social class in modern sense of the term. V, I, and R, the parameters of Ohm s law. Ohm s law states that the current through a conductor between two points is directlyproportional to the potential difference across the two points. Introducing the constant of proportionality, the resistance,[1] one arrives at the usual mathematical equation that describes this relationship:[2] where I is the current through the conductor in units of amperes, V is the potential difference measured across the conductor in units of volts, and R is the resistance of the conductor in units of ohms.... Other versions Ohm s law, in the form above, is an extremely useful equation in the field of electrical/electronic engineering because it describes how voltage, current and resistance are interrelated on a macroscopic level, that is, commonly, as circuit elements in an electrical circuit. Physicists who study the electrical properties of matter at the microscopic level use a closely related and more general vector equation, sometimes also referred to as Ohm s law, having variables that are closely related to the V, I, and R scalar variables of Ohm s law, but which are each functions of position within the conductor. Physicists often use this continuum form of Ohm s Law:[31] where E is the electric field vector with units of volts per meter (analogous to V of Ohm s law which has units of volts), J is thecurrent density vector with units of amperes per unit area (analogous to I of Ohm s law which has units of amperes), and ПЃ (Greek rho ) is the resistivity with units of ohmВ·meters (analogous to R of Ohm s law which has units of ohms). The movie The Great Gatsby is a prime example of how money effect people lives. Money plays a part in each of their lives. It may cause people to want what the next person got, be selfish, and be reckless, so it is known for the root of all evil. In The Great Gatsbymovie, Jey Gatsby was the man who worked to get to where he was in life. Then you have Mr. and Mrs. Myrtle who were not rich at all. Tom Buchanon on the other hand, was born with a silver spoon. People like Tom looked down on people like Gatsby , and Mr. and Mrs. Myrtle because the riches felt like if you were not born rich, then you are considered poor. So it brings a lot of altercations to the table. Rich people feel like they have their whole life to do whatever and whenever, while poor people have to think about their next move. Tom is rich from old money, so he does what he wants, but Gatsby is rich by new money but he is also able to do what he wants.Gatsby was able to throw parties just like any other rich person, but then you have the Myrtle family who is not really able to do much at all. That just goes to show how people are categorized by their background instead of what they really have. This will cover the historical context of Battered Women s Syndrome as a legal defense, which will of course require a brief review of what battered women s syndrome is by using experts in the field, usually psychologists. When reviewing the historical context of such a subversive topic, it is essential to the structure that we look at actual cases involving battered women such as abuse being reported and cases that have actually been brought to trial as well as the ending verdicts as the factors that may have caused the outcome. We must also look at different cases as to which the defense was used, such as situations where a battered women s husband was sleeping, or any other relative situation as to which there was question of the imminence of a threat. The teacher would share their knowledge of reality to their students as it relates to the physical world and their reality (Ozmon, 2012). The realist curriculum is the subject matter of the external world and the realist teaching method as mastering hard facts and organized systematic information (Ozmon, 2012). • 29. Ethical Values And Moral Values Ethics in a sense is everything we hold dear to us, meaning our moral values. The development of figuring out what is important to us requires intellectual and critical evaluation. By not developing ones own moral values, you are simply taking the route of taking the moral beliefs given to you by your family or society. You re accepting them because its easier than questioning them. However, this has its setbacks, by choosing not to do ethics you are essentially undermining your own personal freedom of choice. By accepting beliefs of your culturewithout question, then those viewpoints are not truly yours. Another setback to not asking questions is that your reasons or responses will be lacking understanding. Moral principles are might be absolute or might not, even so we apply them to situations may be different and require you to evaluate the situation at hand, which is hard to do if you ve never taken the time to do so before. The third importance is that without taking the time to question and make your own moral code, you then in turn lose intellectual growth. You do not gain new understandings of the ever changing world around you; you become stuck in a stagnant world, which is not reality. I think this class will help me look at moral judgments in a more logical and ethical way. • 31. Centripetal Acceleration Lab Report Introduction: As objects move in a circular motion or change direction, they are accelerating, this form of acceleration is known as centripetal acceleration (ac). The direction of the acceleration is always towards the centre of the circle. Centripetal acceleration can be represented by the formula ac=V2r=42rT2=42rf2. In these formulas, v is the velocity, r is the radius of the circle, T is the period, and f is the frequency. Furthermore, velocity can be represented by the following equations v=2rT=2rf. In order to calculate frequency, the free body diagram must be taken into consideration in order to calculate the forceof tension. In this lab, the force of tension and gravity are assumed to be the only forces. Furthermore, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a result of this, the stopper will complete the necessary rotations in fewer seconds. Finally, in turn, this allows the frequency to increase as the radius decreases, proving they are inversely proportional. Finally, the frequency and the mass of the spinning object (rubber stopper) are inversely proportional to one another specifically that as the mass increases, the frequency decreases. As the spinning mass s weight increases, it would take more force to rotate it causing it to slow down. These larger time intervals would drastically decrease the frequency as the growing mass would result in a lower frequency. Experimental Design: A hanging mass was connected to a string that passed through a hollow tube that had a rubber stopper connected to the string on the other side of the tube. A person held the glass tube and spun the string above their head so the rubber stopper would spin and raise the hanging mass at a constant radius from the hollow tube. Independent Variables: Tension from the hanging mass, the radius, and the mass of the rubber stopper. Dependent Variables: Frequency of the rotations Controlled Variables: Gravity, and the apparatus Procedure: Please refer to page 152 to 153 of Hirsch, Alan J. Nelson Physics 12. Toronto: Nelson Thomson Learning, 2003. Print. for the full procedure With the following changes: Step 3 4: Use a 50 g mass instead of a 200 g mass Step 4: Use a 60 cm radius instead

How Does Andy Warhol Show Signs Of A Death Effect The main body of this paper compares Andy Warhol s auction data from 1985 to 1996 to Richard Agnello s avant garde and general art market indexes for signs of a Death Effect. Compared against both the avant garde and general art market, Warhol shows signs of a slight Death Effect. This appendix examines Roy Lichtenstein s market for signs of a Death Effect as well. Lichtenstein was older than Warhol and the usual artist whom the literature suggests can demonstrate a Death Effect. Heinrich Ursprung and Christian Wiermann (2008) find that the ideal age to exhibit a death effect is between 60 and 70 because younger artists are not well enough established and the market already anticipates the death of older artists. • 33. Analysis Of The Old Man And The Sea By Ernest Hemingway Is the achievement of victory an indicator of how valuable a man s life is? This can be answered by examining several characters and the journey they travel in different stories. The short novel The Old Man and the Sea is written by Ernest Hemingway, and is the story of a Cuban fisherman who battles with a giant fish for many days. The next book, A Lesson Before Dying is written by Ernest J. Gaines, and tells the story of a man named Grant who is tasked with convincing a young man sentenced to death that he is not an animal like everyone says he is. Finally, William Faulkner s Nobel Prize acceptance speech tells writers it is their duty to encourage people to be courageous in the face of danger. The characters in each of these stories have different life journeys but similar outcomes through achieving moral victory. Achieving a moral victory contributes to the overall success of one s life. In The Old Man and the Sea, the main character, Santiago, is an unlucky fisherman who has a tenacious battle with a large marlin while fishing in the Gulf Stream. Santiago was considered unlucky due to the fact that he had gone eighty four days without catching a single fish. Although he felt rejected and defeated, he did not allow the opinions of the other fishermen and even his young friend, Manolin, keep him from moving forward. He thinks, maybe today. Every day is a new day. It is better to be lucky. (Hemingway 32) and on the eighty fifth day he was determined to end his unlucky

This is not an issue of East versus West and, more importantly, it s not about assigning blame. There is not a freed woman on one side and an imprisoned on the other. Muslim women: the Western view of these ladies is one of abuse, terror and oppression. The burka has become a symbol of male control and domination, warping the truth about Islam, and turning it into a violent regime focused on terrorism and ruling by fear. For example, if one were to do a Google search on the words Muslim women, the preponderance of images are of burka clad women, with the one exclusion, of course, being Miss Egypt in her bikini. ABSTRACT The bacterial spirochete Borrelia burgdorferi is the causative agent of the most commonly reported arthropod borne illness in the United States, Lyme disease. Select proteins produced by B. burgdorferi contain the von Willebrand Factor A (VWFA) domain, which is responsible for cell adhesion via interaction with the extracelluar matrix (ECM), glycoproteins, and metalloproteases. Such interactions are often an integral part of the infection process and may be especially important for B. burgdorferi, which relies on environmental changes in both the vector and host to colonize, transmit, and infect. BB0173, a VWFA domain containing protein, has been evaluated based on topology and adherence to human ECM proteins and integrins, to evaluate its role during the infection process. The confirmation of protein localization was performed by cloning the each of the three BB0173 transmembrane domains upstream of the luminal P2 domain of the integral membrane protein leader peptidase found in Escherichia coli. Gene expression was investigated via immunoblot assays using lysates from B.

Comparison of Authority Figures in Romeo and Juliet and Shakespeare in Love Stoppard s satirical movie, Shakespeare in Love, is a play on Shakespeare s tragic love story, Romeo and Juliet. Stoppard places Shakespeare himself into a relationship with Viola De Lesseps, that resembles the relationship between Romeo and Juliet. Stoppard incorporates countless parallels into the film from Shakespeare s love story, including the character development of major authority figures. The prince and the queen, Capulet and Viola s father, and the Friar and the Priest are all figures of authority and parallel between the two works; Stoppard gave his cast similarities to Shakespeare s characters, but they also varied in some aspects. Stoppard s decision to both keep some and change some character attributes of these authority figures helps contribute and develop the ending of the movie, just as Shakespeare s character developments contributed to the outcome of his plays. In Romeo and Juliet, the supreme authority is the Prince; he is the governing individual in Verona, Italy where the setting takes place, just as Queen Elizabeth is shown as the highest authority in England in Shakespeare in Love. One key difference between these leaders in the stories is that the Prince is mostly concerned with keeping the peace, while the Queen also appreciates and respects Viola s risk and is excited by Viola and her relationship with Shakespeare. The Queen is exhilarated by the whole ordeal. She

A Survey On The Creek Geological History Kevin Wright GEOL 204 Dr. Miller June 8th, 2015 Caliente Creek Geological History 1.At the beginning of the Tertiary, there is a layer of andesite breccia a fast cooling extrusive rock that has not traveled far from its original deposition. This indicates a volcanic depositional environment. This formation was then intruded by intrusive slower cooling rocks that create a noncomformity between it and the Walker formation. The tuff breccia in the Walker formation is consistent with the same depositional environment as the andesite breccia formation as they are both extrusive rocks. It is possible that there was an eruption from a volcano that deposited the highly viscous andesite rocks followed by slower falling ash, which was then ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Freeman Jewett shale formation is a strong indicator of a low energy/quiet depositional environment. It is likely this layer was originally deposited offshore in a marine environment. This is further supported by the following Bena Gravel formation, which is emblematic of a transitional beach type environment with pebble size sand and gravel. This coarser layer of sand and gravel overlying the silty and sandy shale could be evidence for a regressive cycle and receding sea levels. The Bena Gravel formation is eroded by Kern River Gravel which creates a disconformity in the stratigraphy. The Kern River Gravel has stream like deposits but since it cuts through the Bena Gravel Formation it is suggestive the Kern River Gravel formation has a delta depositional environment. The Terrace formation suggests a stream depositional environment. If terracing is present, it indicates a decrease in discharge over time. The next formation, Alluvium, is evidence of an alluvial fan deposition, a glacial deposition that has been reworked by meltwater, or of a dried lake bed. (Levin p.86). Regardless of which, the Alluvium formation gives away easily to mass wasting to from the landslide formation. Most alluvial fan deposits occur near the margins of the depositional basin because they occur in low areas at the base of the Temblor formation or Sierra Nevada s. The marine deposits, beach
  • 52. Baroque Art And The Baroque Era Baroque Ornamentation The use of ornamentation in Baroque music was a creative, and sometimes improvised outlet for period musicians that spurred from human instinct to manipulate melodic material. This urge to change melodic material by altering the rhythm, or melody can be seen throughout history. Music including Gregorian chant, which predates the Baroque era, contains some elements of ornamentation. It can be seen throughout the Baroque, Classical era, and even in modern music. Although improvisation has been repressed by modern conventions of performance, it shows itself in the style of improvised jazz and avant garde free improvisation. Performers use improvisation as a means of self expression and a way to express composer intent. During the Baroque era, there were many different styles and methods of ornamentation depending on location, style, date, and composer of a piece of music. Understanding the historical developments of the Baroque era and the development of ornamentation can help modern performers of Baroque music better understand how to play a more historically accurate performance. The Baroque era lasted from about 1600 to 1750. The music from the Baroque began to develop contrapuntally and in harmonic complexity. Composers also relied on the performers ability to add ornamentation and to complete the harmonies in a basso continue score through improvisation. These scores consisted of a bass line with numbers and symbols written above, to indicate the
  • 53. Sea Otters Decline The lecture and the article cover the decline in sea otters population in the recent few years. Two main theories arised to explain that rapid decline. Pollution is suggested as the main reason behind this decline by the author. However, the lecturer opposes that. He believes that Predation is the main cause. Firstly, the author states that pollution sources such as oil rigs near Alaskan beaches is killing the sea otters. Also, a research held on water samples in the area showed that it contains high levels of chemicals that may indirectly kill the otters. This view is objected by the lecturer. He proposes that Orcas use the animals as source of food, that is why there are no signs of dead otters on shores of Alaska, which would however be
