Emerald Coast Research Paper
The name Emerald Coast sounds like a place from a fairytale, but the truth is, it is far better than any
storyteller s fantasy land. Emerald Coast exists in reality as a place with stunning beachside cities,
including, Destin, Fort Walton Beach and Okaloosa Island, breathtaking, sugar white beaches,
enchanting emerald green waters, protected bays and bayous, quaint historic districts, military
heritage, and hidden state parks. Located along the Northwest Florida Panhandle, between Pensacola
and Panama City, on the east side of the St. Andrews Bay this 100 miles stretch of shoreline is said to
have been given it name, Emerald Coast in 1983, by a local junior high school student.
Early inhabitants in the region included several different Native American cultures around 500 B.C.,
and remnants of their civilization exist in the temple mounds and prehistoric middens surviving in
Choctawhatchee Bay and Santa Rosa Sound. Indian hostilities made settlement in the region difficult

Assessment Of The Database Architecture And Design Of...
1 INTRODUCTION The aim of this report is to present information about assessment of the database
architecture and design of various clinical information systems like administrative system, clinical
decision making system, electronic health record and computer based health record system, nursing
system, ancillary service system, patient numbering systems at master and enterprise level. The
assessment will be based on the health and hospital system that includes around 1800 bed hospital and
30 community based clinics across the metroplex. The vice president and the interdisciplinary team is
responsible for the assessment process. 2 ADMINISTRATIVE SYSTEM Hospital Administration
System is a robust and flexible information system that covers operations for both in patients and out
patients. Some typical functions of the administration system will be registration for the patients,
scheduling physicians, consultation, transaction management, drug dispensing, imaging and diagnosis
and management of pharmacy inventory. The database architecture for the hospital administration
system will be distributed and at least 3 tier architecture. There will be presentation, application and
database tiers. The presentation tier will have multiple views based on different types of users like
staffs of the hospitals, patients, third parties like drug suppliers, pharmacy suppliers, diagnosis staffs
and so on (Beaver, 2012). There will be multiple applications in application tier. These

Human Nature Of Curiosity
Curiosity within
Curiosity is human nature that people are born with. From the moment someone is born they becomes
curious of all their surroundings and what they can do. Curiosity also leads to instability because every
one becomes curious sooner, and or later someone will break the rules or do something they aren t
supposed to. Also, if one realizes they aren t really happy then they will become curious and try to find
something that will make them happy. This will lead to instability in society where a small amount of
people like a certain thing and others don t. It will all lead to people arguing and destroying the so
called perfection that they have reached. Therefore, stability will never be reached because of people s
curiosity, and because of society s will of trying to be perfect which makes it imperfect.
In the World State everyone has a certain job to do and the people are separated according to their
caste system, there are Alphas, Betas, Gammas, Deltas, and Epsilons. They are ordered from higher
class to lower class but this doesn t stop curiosity between all of them. There are some people in the
World State that experience curiosity. Bernard Marx is one of the few that are really experiencing
curiosity and want something different. A great example is when he begins to feel something for
Lenina and when they are on a date he asks Don t you wish you were free Lenina (91). He is not the
only one though Lenina is also experiencing different emotions and she is

Who Is Fantine
Grace is a gift. It is something good you do not deserve. Les Misérables is an allegory of grace against
law. There s a lesson behind the stories of the miserable ones . A label stamped whom they should ve
been, believing they were unchangeable. The law perceived them as someone different. True faces
were hard to be shown because of prejudice, but the miserables wanted to push past that barricade
One of the miserable ones is Fantine, a young woman betrayed by many. Her life was full of
tribulations: the father of her daughter abandoned them, she was oppressed by her coworkers, thrown
into the streets by her boss, cheated by the caretakers of her child, and stripped of her dignity. Fantine
dreamed that she would have a better life. She imagined how life would be different if her dreams had
not been torn apart. She sacrificed herself to keep her daughter, Cosette, alive. Even though her
daughter was born out of wedlock, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though she had not been able to see Cosette for a while, Fantine put Cosette before everything
and endured extreme torture for her. Fantine was trampled by the darkness of society, she was forced
to become someone she didn t want to be, then she got blamed for it. Her situation shows how the law
can be hypocrites. Grace was never given to Fantine. Because of her new lifestyle, she was considered
the scum of the earth, according to high society. Jean Valjean eventually discovered Fantine weak and
tired and gave her grace out of the kindness of his heart. He understood Fantine s pain as he had been
on her road before; his on thievery and hers on prostitution. Jean Valjean was a former prisoner but he
was given grace by a Bishop from whom he stole from. He went through a human metamorphosis and
changed his life for the better. Now his goal is to love others despite the interference of the law. He
didn t redeem Fantine from her misery but he brightened her

Enzymes play a remarkably important role in biological systems. Nearly all reactions in living
organisms are catalyzed by enzymes, a large majority of which have been found to be proteins. The
mechanisms by which enzymes function are varied, but all mechanisms lower the transition state free
energy where the free energy barrier of a reaction is the highest. Thus, an enzymatically catalyzed
reaction proceeds at a significantly increased rate than that of an unanalyzed reaction. Even though the
mechanism of enzymes can be reduced to such a basic idea, it is important to note that enzymes are
incredibly versatile and achieve catalysis through several mechanisms. The mechanisms are identical
to those of chemical catalysts, and thus comes forth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Michaelis Menten model, two important kinetic properties of enzymes are related. These
properties are the Vmax, or maximum rate that can be achieved by the enzyme, and the Michaelis
constant, KM. The KM can be defined as the concentration of substrate that leads to of the reaction.
While the Michaelis Menten model is very useful in determining the kinetics of enzymes, but there are
certain limitations to this method of investigating enzyme kinetics. The full analysis of the Michaelis
Menten model and steady state rate is beyond this report. However, it is important to note that the
enzyme substrate complex concentration is assumed to be constant, even though is continuously being
formed and broken. Thus, the product is continuously and steadily being made through the enzyme

The Role Of The Underdog
From my birth, I assumed the role of the underdog. Born to a mother who was only fifteen years old,
and later raised by my mother and grandmother along with six other siblings in an impoverished inner
city neighborhood without the benefit of a father or any other familial male influence in my life, I
have always been cognizant of what the statistics predicted would be the likely outcome of my life.
Yet somehow, at an early age, I relished the role of the underdog and used it as a means for motivating
myself, my siblings, and even my own mother, to pursue those things that appeared to be beyond our
reach from a social and economic perspective. Chief among the motivating factors in my life was the
idea of obtaining an education. For as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite playing the role of protector, there was no role that I enjoyed more than being able to help my
siblings further their education, ensuring that their homework and mine was completed, accurate and
ready for my mother s review upon her return home from work. I was determined to transfer my
passion for learning, and education in general, to my siblings and anyone in my household who would
listen, which might have contributed to the fact that all but one of my siblings went on to attend and
graduate from college. For me, getting an education wasn t an option, it was the only option, a
sentiment that I relentlessly stressed to my siblings, and my mother, who though a high school dropout
at one point, went on to pursue and receive several college degrees later in life. At the age of 12, I took
on my first job, which was essentially an entrepreneurial endeavor. My brothers and I spent the spring,
summer and fall canvassing our neighborhood, seeking out residents who would allow us to mow their
lawns or rake their leaves in exchange for a reasonable fee. While the earnings of that first job were
meager, the intangible benefits and life lessons that I derived from it were tremendous. I learned a lot
about earning and managing money, responsibility, and most significantly, what I did not want do with
my life. The

Political Science Of Political Sabotage Or Dirty Plans Essay
Ratf**ked is a term used in political science to describe political sabotage or dirty plans. David Daley,
in his book of the same name, describes Republicans incentives in 2010 to take control of state
legislatures and control congressional redistricting processes. Republicans were then able to take
redistrict in favor of a republican controlled congress being elected. This plan was entitled The
Redistricting Majority Project or REDMAP (Daley 2016). After the 2008 election, the future of the
Republican Party looked grim. Obama took Republican strongholds like Virginia and North Carolina
and Democrats took control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate during the election.
Chris Jankowski, a member of the Republican State Leadership Committee, came up with a plan to
help the Republicans gain control of the state legislatures. He realized the importance of the 2010 mid
term elections with the upcoming census, whichever party controlled the state legislatures got to
control the redistricting process for congressional districts in 42 of 50 states (Daley 2016). Jankowski
had $30 million dollars to invest in states that Republicans could control both governors office and the
legislature. His REDMAP team would create priority lists of swing states, to state houses, and finally
to state senates that they had to win. Republicans focused their time and energy on areas that they
believed that they could swing red or keep red by calling, sending mail, billboards,

Political Science 101, M/W
In our school system we are forced to learn history such as the Civil Rights Movement. We are taught
that racism is no longer alive with in our society. This discrimination is evident with in our community
which has started some movements to battle the issue of racism and the discrimination. Some
movements are Black Lives Matter and the kneeling during the singing of the national anthem which
was started by Colin Kaepernick back in 2016. The Black Lives Matter movement was started because
of all the police brutality that we have seen in the media. The kneeling in the national anthem started
with Kaepernick because he felt that he had to protest what he deems as wrongdoings against African
Americans and minorities in the United States. During interviews he says, I am not going to stand up
to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color, Kaepernick told
NFL Media. It is easy to say that we are all equal and that our system sees no color. We can easily see
that the rights of racial minorities are under attack in vital areas such as immigration, affordable
healthcare and housing.
A lot has happened from during the time of 1900 to 1964, California grew rapidly and soon became an
agricultural and industrial power. Within the 1900 to 1939 the Segregation Era happened, racial
oppression escalated across the United Sates. This Created a lot of problems along the way. From

Education In Japanese Internment Camps
Education for Japanese at the time was not very effective, so you can only imagine how education for
children in the internment camps was at the time. Out of the nearly 120,000 inhabitants of the camps
about 30,000 of those people were children, and these children needed to be educated in some way.
Most of these classrooms were taught in Japanese and was the exact opposite of what these children
needed. The fact that not all the education was in English was detrimental to the kids who were mostly
all citizens. The teachers never had the appropriate material to teach their students, these crowded
schools were just a way of making it seem like the government cares about the children. The materials
that the teachers did have were not knowledgeable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The push for reparations did not come up until nearly forty years later when President Jimmy Carter
investigated the issue in 1980. It was determined that the internment was unethical and the citizens
remaining today should receive some sort of reparations. The main reasons it was decided upon on
why these individuals were interned was because of racial prejudice and hysteria. Finally, in 1988 the
Civil Liberties Act was passed by President Ronald Regan, and this act gave reparations to individuals
who were at some point relocated or interned. The reparations and apology was given out starting in
1990 to all the individuals who were still alive, Beginning in 1990, each surviving internee was given
a $20,000 cash payment, along with a letter of apology from the government (DeWitt). Many were
overjoyed that they had some time of reparation for what they went through. However, many
organizations such as the American Legion, and many World War II veterans showed clear resistance
to the reparations. They completely disagreed with the reparations because in their eyes the Japanese
were evil in their eyes, and it was difficult for them to look upon the Japanese in any other way. These
men are more obviously more biased because they were on the front line fighting the Japanese
enemies. So much resistance was shown towards these reparations and comments

Maintaining Agricultural Farmlands for the World s Growing...
As the world population continues to rise, there are growing concerns for maintaining agricultural
farmlands, especially in developing countries with drought and famine. This has also led to many
shortages of food, due to high demand because of the increasing population. Demographists worry
that if this growing issue continues to hurt food consumption of povertized countries, than there will
be more deaths because the population is increasing, but the food levels are staying the same, or even
decreasing. Some of these demographists believe that this is occurring, because the developed
countries are intaking too much food. Others believe that this is because of the overpopulated
countries, and the fact that they are in higher need for food because of their population. Another
problem that arises within this is deforestation. Deforestation is a part of this growing problem
because when massive woodlands are cut down, the lands become dry and bodies of water in or
around the land dry up, making crops unsuitable for crop growth and crop rotation, leading to the
lands to turn into non arable lands. This is also known as desertification. This correlates with
population growth because if lands become non arable, then crops won t grow there, leading to
starvation in developing countries with higher population needs and demands. Although some people
are taking action for the problems that this issue has given us, we re still nowhere near solving the
problem. This issue is very

Changes Of Pregnancy During Pregnancy
The changes in the hematologic system and in haemostasis during pregnancy are important for
maternal and foetal homoeostasis. The dramatic changes of pregnancy increase the demands of
nutrient intake to support the mother and foetus. Iron is an essential nutrient required during
pregnancy because it is required to create new red blood cells during pregnancy that is essential to
synthesise haemoglobin so that oxygen can be transported between the mother and foetus. During
pregnancy, the volumes of both blood and plasma increase to tolerate the demands of the uterus
enlarging. Also, the hypertrophied vascular system increases to maintain systemic blood pressure.
Furthermore, during delivery, a mother can be expected to lose large volumes of blood and adequate
iron stores help the mother to tolerate blood loss. Moreover, red blood cell volume needs to increase to
allow adequate availability of oxygen to the foetus. Increased RBC volume has to occur to support the
expanding uteroplacental circulation, which ensures the foetus receives the essential amounts of
nutrients during gestation. Iron stores in nonpregnant women are commonly low because of the loss of
menstrual blood which 1 mL blood loss is equal to the loss of the element iron 0.5mg. In total, the
typical Fe loss during menses loss is between 12 to 15mg. The typical values for Iron intake by
women is between 12 to 18mg/day. However, in the UK, the Reference Nutrient intake for women
between the ages of 19 50 years is

The Reality Of Real World
With an increasing amount of technology invested in virtual reality, real life is now merging with a
fictional world that can be created and manipulated. Another manner in which the real world is
capable of joining a manufactured world is through the usage of comic books. Real world events have
been and are continuously mixed up with the lives of superheroes such as when heroes were depicted
fighting against Hitler and the Nazi s in World War II. There are two main types of representations of
real world events and that is through indirect representation using allegories and metaphors and
directly representing them by simply showing the incidents within the comics. Comics represent real
events more efficiently through allegories as opposed to directly having those situations intertwined
within the stories because of several reasons including that it gives readers an opportunity to reflect on
certain events if they see the connection between the comic and the event. However, they are not
forced to see the reference such as when the event is clearly illustrated within the story because this
would retract a reader s ability to escape from the real world to a fictional world. One comic that has
an indirect representation of current events is Marvel s Civil War. The story starts off with a group of
rookie superheroes that are attempting to capture some villains. Resulting from the clash, there is a
large explosion that causes large amounts of casualties including civilian

Blitzkrieg Fail German Germany On Nazi Germany
When Blitzkrieg Fails Nazi Germany on the Eastern Front
Throughout of the duration of World War Two, Germany s offensive tactic of Blitzkrieg served her
well; vital in the invasions of France, Poland, Belgium, and numerous other attacks. Yet, when
Germany faced trouble in the Battle of Britain and turned to the Eastern front instead, this tank,
infantry, and Luftwaffe method proved unsuccessful. Operation Barbarossa first began with little
resistance, as Germany swept quickly into the Soviet Union. It is not until winter set in that Blitzkrieg
began to fail, and the weak remainder of fighting on the Eastern front following the rough winter
finally showed Germany s weakness as their iconic tactic proved to be beatable.
Operation Barbarossa began on the morning of June 22nd 1941, when Germany attacked on the front
stretching from the Baltic to the Black Sea, first breaking the Nazi Soviet Non Aggression Pact.
Experts at their Blitzkrieg tactic by then, Germany pushed 50 miles into the Soviet Union in the first
day. Stalin, left with a weakened Red Army after purging past generals who would have proved
critical in this attack, enforced the scorched earth policy, in which his people burnt everything left
behind when they retreated; leaving nothing for the Germans. At that time, Hitler anticipated only an 8
week war. This seemed to be a reasonable idea initially, as they took Kiev, laid siege to Leningrad and
key cities on the way to Crimea all before winter. They had taken

Sports Leads
For me, the best sports leads are ones that either raise a question or evoke an emotion. Most people are
easily distracted in this era filled with constant distractions and people with the attention spans like
squirrels. I can even attest to having one of these squirrel attention spans, and as such, if I am reading
a story that does not entice me quickly enough, I usually just move on. I have found that the best way
to maintain the attention span of a reader is by posing an irresistible question or by making them so
emotional, that they cannot resist reading. I found three good examples of a sports lead that are able to
raise questions to peak a reader s interest, and one example of a sports lead that is able to move the

There always needs to be a reason for me to care about anything that I read, if I do not care about it,
then why should I spend my time reading it? A prime example I found of invoking emotion in a lead
was in a story about the Marlins game earlier this week. On Sunday, one of the Marlins prized players
tragically passed away after a boating accident. The lead read The Miami Marlins had to take the field
Monday night. They had to in a rather crass view not for themselves, and not to honor their beloved
teammate, Jose Fernandez, who died early Sunday morning in a boating accident in Miami Beach. I
have no connection to the Marlins baseball team at all, but this lead made me want to care, it made me
want to sympathize with the family, team, and fans of Jose Fernandez. The lead demonstrated the pain
that the team was suffering through by the statement had to take the field . They did not have to take
the field because they owed it to Fernandez or to the fans, they had to because it was their job and they
had no other option about it. They were clearly suffering and wanted nothing to do with the game and
had to force themselves through their own pain just to play, that is a powerful

Political Science Essay. Term 2. Considering The Experience
Political science essay. Term 2
Considering the experience of one country with compulsory voting, and one in which voting is
voluntary, does compulsory voting tend to enhance the quality of democracy?
Compulsory voting can be defined as the legal obligation to attend the polls at election time According
to a dictionary definition, democratic state is one where supreme power is vested in the people and
exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system. There are different
democratic countries such as Canada, United States of America, Belgium, Australia and they all have
different electoral processes. Some countries practice either compulsory voting or voluntary A total of
29 countries in contemporary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to make sure everyone is exercising this right to vote, some countries have enforced laws that
prevent people from disregarding this civil duty. As an individual liberty consists in exemption from
legal control, so political liberty consists in participation in legal control. Compulsory voting is in the
interest of everyone in the country, through voting we are given a voice to decide which people
amongst us we would rather have serving and protecting us.
The initial expectation is that a substantial gap exists between the voting rates of the socially
advantaged because the latter are less informed about politics, feel more alienated from the political
system and are not the main target of mobilization efforts by political parties One of the problems with
countries with voluntary voting is that participation is low participation which can also be called low
electoral turnout. one of the problems most democratic states with voluntary voting have, is the
turnout of electoral processes. Everyone has the right to vote but people on the day of election stay
home and turnouts end up low. These states end up having less than 60% turnout. However in states
with Compulsory voting such as Australia, election turnouts have been high. the average level of
turnout under the system of compulsory voting was 91.6% If the turnouts for elections enhances
democracy why do other states

Marriage And Marriage With Cleotilde
In the novel, marriage is more about economic status and opportunity rather than love. Marriage is
supposed to be about abundant mutual love between two people. In this case, marriage is viewed more
as an for opportunity to receive citizenship and a way to improve your of social status. Relationships
and marriage are a common theme throughout the novel.
Obinze s marriage with Cleotilde is one another example in the book of how marriage for men is
viewed as a path to improving your chances of receiving citizenship. Obinzes attempt to marry
Cleotilde was a true fabrication and is not a very good example of what love actually means. When
they first met, Obinze s sense of entitlement, and superiority made in very difficult for him to treat
Cleo as she deserved to be treated. A fake marriage of convenience not for love but for the opportunity
of citizenship is contrary to Obinze s morals. This causes Obinze to have a moral crisis inside and
question the path he has taken in life. Normally marriage happens when two people decide that they
would rather spend time together than apart and would find it difficult to continue without the other. In
a normal relationship couples will from time to time face adversity and together work to overcome
whatever challenges they face, but the adversity faced by the couple in this novel are bigger and more
complex than what other couples would typically face. Obinze is using a woman to gain citizenship
into a country; this is not only

Similarities Between George Washington And Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson. I will be comparing the ways that they dealt with foreign affairs, also domestic
affairs. In addition, I will also be talking about how they viewed the position of President of the
United States. At the end of this essay I hope to show that President and Founding Fathers George
washington and Thomas Jefferson are in ways similar.

president of the united states was the unanimous decision on who should lead the united states after

The Core Capabilities Of Icf
2.2. Architecture Overview
ICF is a multi tiered, service based framework that integrates broad range of technologies covering the
autonomy of a machine to analytical services that are combined with domain specific user interfaces
to form specific battlefield applications [] . This framework can be adapted to other battle command
and robotic control systems to enhance human performance, and can communicate with underlying
control and simulation systems via standard protocols. Underlying ICF provides a generalized
framework that integrates various requisite knowledge bases, knowledge representations, the
applications, machines, to represent a collaborative technology that offers different forms of user
assistance in a holistic manner.
Figure 2: Intelligence and control abstraction layers for ICF
The core capabilities of ICF are designed around three main modules corresponding to the three tiers,
AMM, PES and UI, of human machine collaboration. The adjustable autonomy module (AAM)
contains the reasoning necessary for modeling the human plans and intentions, situation reasoning,
and determining new automation settings. This module covers most of the reasoning requirements
labeled (2a c) in the previous section.
The planning and execution system (PES) contains an abstraction layer for controlling automated
processes, as well as providing the rest of the system access to information generated by the
automated processes, such as sensor readings and asset status

The And The Righteous Sufferer
Job and the Righteous Sufferer The question Why do bad things happen to good people? has most
likely been around for a very long time. It will always stay relevant as long as there are natural
disasters killing so many people and making others suffer, many of them being innocent. There is no
common factor found among all people that suffer great physical and emotional pain. It happens to
people of all religions, ethnicities, and morality. Suffering does not seek out the guilty, it is just a part
of life. Bad things happen to good people, because bad things happen to all people, so even the
righteous can suffer, which is seen in The Poem of the Righteous Sufferer, and The Book of Job.

He simply will never know their reasoning or their intention of allowing earthly events to unfold the
way that they do (RS II:36 37). He says he does not understand the people who praise gods when
things go well, but reject them as soon as things turn for the worse, which he also says can happen
instantly (RS II:44 47). The speaker questions these hypocritical people, and seems to have a better
grasp on the true nature of the gods than the average person. He knows that humans cannot understand
the gods, and never will. Much of the same can be said about Job, the book s eponymous character.
Like Shubshi meshre Shakkan, he is a righteous man. God goes as far as to call him a blameless and
upright man and says he is a one of a kind worshipper (Job 1:8). He also endures great suffering,
which all came as the result of Satan questioning if Job s worshipping was true and pure (Job 1:10 11).
God takes Satan up on this bet and allows him to cause make Job s life miserable (Job 1:12). At first,
Job stays a righteous man, but eventually he breaks down and curses his birth (Job 3). Job becomes
exactly the type of person that Shubshi meshre Shakkan was talking about (someone who questions
God in bad times), and his friend Eliphaz tells him that. He says, Your words have supported those
who were stumbling, and you have made firm the feeble knees. But now it has come to you, and you

Design A Wireless Sensor Nodes Using Fpga For Fire...
The aim of this paper is to design a wireless sensor node using FPGA for fire monitoring and control.
FPGA is used in the wireless sensor node design in order to enhance the processing capabilities of the
system to meet the target applications. The sensor nodes in a wireless sensor network are normally
microcontroller based which are having inadequate computational capacity related to various
applications. This paper describes the selection, specification and comprehension of a wireless sensor
node using the field programmable gate array (FPGA) based architecture for an early detection of
hazards (e.g. smoke and fire). The FPGAs in its place are more proficient for complex computations in
compare to microcontrollers. Another benefit of using FPGA is also due to its reconfigurable
characteristic without changing the hardware itself. The node is implemented using Spartan 3A FPGA
board from Xilinx. A design of simple hardware circuit with different type of fire sensors enables
every user to use this wireless fire security system. The FPGA will constantly supervise all the sensors
and if it senses any security trouble then the FPGA will send the information to the PC central
monitoring station wirelessly using Zigbee technology. The system is based on the Lab VIEW
software.

Piaget And Piaget Similarities
The human brain has always been a subject of great interest to psychologists and researches. Over the
years, many theorists have developed different models and approaches on how the mind works and
what happens behind the scene when learning occurs. Scientifically speaking, learning theorists have
been concerned about areas of psychology of learning which emphasizes human cognition or
intelligence as a special endowment enabling man to form hypotheses and develop intellectually in
other words cognitivism which is also known as cognitive development
(Teachinglearningresources.pbworks.com, 2011). Therefore, cognitive development is concerned
about how learning, problem solving and memory works along with how cultural differences affect
the way we view our own academic achievements, language development, and much more (Feldman,
2010). Two famous influential theorists of cognitivism are Jean Piaget (1896 1980) and Jerome Bruner
(1915 2016). They both consider how cognitive development takes place at different stages but their
theories are also fundamentally different.

Milton Friedman s Philosophy, Consumption Analysis, And...
Milton Friedman was a respected economist that posited numerous new ideologies within the
economic realm during the 20th century. In 1976, Friedman was awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in
Economic Sciences for his examination of monetary history and philosophy, consumption analysis,
and the theory of stabilization policy. Another theme Friedman is generally known for is his position
with respect to the responsibilities of corporations. He had expressed that few trends could so
thoroughly undermine the very foundations of our free society as the acceptance by corporate officials
of a social responsibility other than to make as much money for their stockholders as possible
(Chandler and Werther Jr., 2014, p. xxxii). By this, Friedman is saying that maximization of property
for the sake of shareholder return jeopardizes and subverts the possibility of corporations acting
ethically and socially responsibly. He does not trust that their fundamental center inside their
operations ought to be focused on the part of corporate social obligation. Not at all like individuals,
Friedman trusts that an organization cannot have an obligation. They have one obligation and that is to
make a profit (Friedman, 2013). No we will look at the different balances, counterbalances, and
threats to social corporate responsibility. These elements, based off their motivation, can be ordered
into two or three distinct gatherings, which are revenue driven associations, not for profits, and

Alpha Male Stereotypes
The Stereotype of The Alpha Male
For past years to current times striking fear and rejection of society, has forced men to create a
stereotype that compensates their deep insecurities, low esteem, and incompetence to value women. In
the course of time, the Alpha Male has developed different characteristics which can easily distinguish
him from everybody else. If those characters are analyzed, it can be understood furthermore more
deep the reason behind this behavior. From a scientific definition, the Alpha Male is considered in the
animal kingdom the leader of his social group, although his leadership comes with the benefits he is
not driven by narcissistic purposes but for the well being of his pack. In contrast with the social Alpha
male, the just mentioned attributes are not present.
Media has portrayed this character in different ways, but for most researchers online, Ryan Gosling in
his portrayal of his character Jacob Palmer from the movie Crazy Stupid Love is the perfect example
of the modern Alpha Male. The famous scene that takes place in the bar in which his character is set

Theme Of Rape Of The Lock
Mock epic is a narrative poem which aims at mockery and laughter by using almost all the
characteristic features of an epic but for a trivial subject. In the The Rape of the Lock there is an
invocation to Muses, intention of subject, battles, supernatural machinery, and journey on water,
underworld journey, long speeches, feasts (coffee house), Homeric similes and grand style but all for a
simple family dispute instead of a national struggle. The grand action of a low subject produces
comical laughter and makes the story more absurd. Instead of magnificent passions and great fights
between heroes in which the immortals take part, we see the theme of The Rape of the Lock as a
minor passionate quarrel assisted by the spirits of the air. The ... Show more content on

In the poem Rape of the Lock, Pope has introduced the episodes of the game of Omber which suggests
the powerful battle and the cards involve the soldiers described in great detail. There is also the battle
between lords and ladies just like the battle in epic poem. But in mock epic this battle is fought with
fans and snuff instead of with swords and spears. There are single fight between Belinda and Baron
and between Clarissa and Sir Plume. Another very important element of an epic is the active
participation of supernatural machinery like god and goddesses. In The Rape of the Lock, there are
sylphs and gnomes. These aerial spirits are small and unimportant things and are therefore, exactly in
keeping with the triviality of the theme. These aerial spirits guards the person of the heroine that is
Belinda and when there is fight between the flowers of Belinda and those of the Baron, they take part
in the fight like god and goddesses in war. Pope described the protecting sylph under Ariel. In that the
sylphs are the lampoon of epic deities. A long dangerous journey on water is a must in an epic. Here in

danger. She travels up the Thames in a boat to join Hampton Court to play the game of card Omber

Inaccuracies In The Movie Glory
The most shameful thing in American history was the enslavement of African Americans. African
Americans were brought over from Africa to America in the North Atlantic Slave Trade. This slave
trade brought about 12 million African Americans over to the America s in order to make them slaves.
The North Atlantic Slave Trade ended in 1807 thanks to an act by Congress in America. This by no
means ended slavery in America, and slavery wasn t abolished for about another 58 years. Eventually
slavery would be brought to the forefront of American politics. Especially the election of 1860 which
made the famous Abraham Lincoln President. The South saw Lincoln s election as a threat to their
way of life. This was especially seen in South Carolina which was the first state (unsurprisingly due to
the fact that they have threatened this before) to announce their succession from the union. Other
states soon followed South Carolina to form the Confederate States of America, the states said they are

inaccuracy that Glory had in it was a very minor one. The invasion of Ft. Wagner happened from
South to North in the movie, when in the actual war the 54th regiment attacked from North to South.
In Glory Colonel Shaw accepted the position to lead the 54th infantry right away, however in the
actual Civil War Colonel Shaw hesitated about his decision before he said yes. Another minor

Lack Of Funding For Presidential Elections
With the upcoming presidential election, it has been interesting to learn about things as they are
actually happening in our country today. Among the many issues that surround the race to the office,
financing the presidential election seems to be a major topic that is always in the public eye. There are
many different views on how the election should be financed but it is hard to tell how far government
funding and donations can go before democracy is left behind.

Rather than government providing millions of dollars for the campaign and putting harsh restricts on

candidates themselves. Spending on the campaign has gotten out of control within the last decade.
Millions of taxpayer dollars are being spend on mobile campaigns, advertisements, and media
exposure. This funding could easily go towards other areas of society, benefiting the very people that
the candidates wish to govern. Rather than directing negative attention, I believe that candidates
should reach out to the public to gain support. Campaigning for presidency should not be about
winning or who raises the most money. Presidency should be about protecting and caring for the
American people. The conduct of campaigns should be monitored in order to limit spending and to
prevent negative advertising towards opposite candidates.
Candidates running for office should depend less on government funding and turn towards the public
for their support. Rather then concerning ourselves with prohibiting the use of soft money we should
control the amount of taxpayers dollars that are being spent. How can we claim that the use of soft
money goes against Democracy when we allow our government to fund

President Roosevelt s Cognitive Style
Cognitive style does not deal strictly with how intelligent a president is. Arguably, all presidents
possess a high degree of intelligence. Rather, it concerns how presidents can process information from
different sources and understand political scenarios (Greenstein). This primarily comes from a
president s prior work, background, and IQ. FDR was highly intelligent; he graduated from Harvard
College with a degree in history. During his years at Harvard, FDR was well versed in the subject of
economics. He took more credits in economics than any subject except in history and english
(Schlesinger). Additionally, Roosevelt was not new at all in the field of politics. He was a member of
the New York State Senate, Assistant Secretary of the Navy, and governor of New York prior to
becoming the 32nd president of the United States. These experiences provided Roosevelt with the

Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is a neurosurgical procedure introduced in 1987, involving the
implantation of a medical device called a neurostimulator (sometimes referred to as a brain
pacemaker), which sends electrical impulses, through implanted electrodes, to specific targets in the
brain for the treatment of movement and neuropsychiatric disorders. Deep Brain Stimulation is a brain
surgery performed to improve a patient s quality of life. The procedure is not a cure, but it can
significantly improve otherwise debilitating symptoms caused by certain neurological disorders. Deep

considered only if a patient s illness has not improved after other treatments (such as antidepressant

forehead. The electromagnet painlessly delivers a magnetic pulse that stimulates nerve cells in the
region of your brain involved in mood control and depression. And it may activate regions of the brain
that have decreased activity in people with depression. This is another form of brain stimulation that
helps change many people s lives. As I mentioned before it is to help people that go through
depression. Brain stimulation is a very useful method, but many don t know that there is different

Influence Of Cognitive Development On Gender Identity
Abstract
The influence of cognitive development to a modern comprehension of gender identity is examined.
Cognitive theories in the context of human development are assessed and examples are presented to
provide empirical support. These theories surround early gender development with aspects
concentrated specifically during Middle Childhood to illustrate how gender identity is perceived in
children ages 5 11. The process of normal and abnormal gender identity in Middle Childhood are both
examined. The paper concludes with implications for future research.
Introduction to Gender Identity
The phenomenon of gender identity dates back as early as the 1950 s when Psychologists began
examining gender development in children. In 1958, the UCLA Medical Center created the Gender
Identity Research Project to study intersex and its effects on gender development and identity. John
Hopkins Medical School s Gender Identity Clinic was created in 1965 for elaborative gender research,
suggesting that gender identity is relatively fluid up to a certain age and subject to continuous
negotiation (Haraway, 1991). With countless research and studies conducted on this unique topic in
human development, various cognitive theories have emerged to justify the evolution of gender
identity. In order to further examine gender identity, it is critical to distinguish gender identity from
societal terms that do not properly define its true semantic. Gender Identity is

Food Assistance Program Essay
Introductory Summary
Today the majority of our farm bill is dedicated to food assistance programs. In 2013 through the
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance program (SNAP) the U.S fed 47.6 million citizens at the cost of
76.4 billion. Another food assistance program called WIC has fed 9 million woman, infants, and
children at the price of 7 billion. The American government is doing a tremendous job at feeding the
less fortunate through these programs but like many programs they need to be improved. Through the
SNAP program participants are able to spend taxpayer money on sugar filled soft drinks and candy.
The new bill that is being prepared will limit the purchase of these unnecessary products. This bill will
restrict participants to simple food staples such as bread, beans, fruit, vegetables and rice. The new bill
will also add white potatoes to the WIC program. These changes that need to be made will contribute
in boosting the demand of multiple commodities and help eliminate unneeded aid to unhealthy foods.

The Human Auditory System For Learning New Languages
Young minds adapt to learning new languages more easily than developed minds. When you are
young you don t understand where the language comes from you, you simply imitate the sounds and
words that you hear being spoken. When a baby first realizes they have a voice they making
nonsensical noises constantly. As they begin to feel comfortable they start repeating after words they
hear usually beginning with mommy , daddy and no . While this initial speaking usually happens
around thirteen to fourteen months, a baby can begin learning their language skills before they are
born, The human auditory system is functional from the third trimester on, and the loudest thing an in
utero baby hears is its mother s voice, speaking whatever language or languages she knows. Those
sounds, with their characteristic rhythms and phonemes, are poured straight into the baby s brain and
become comfortingly familiar (Klugger).
You might think that having a child learn two languages at once is too difficult for their young brains
to comprehend. I agree that learning two languages at once is quite difficult. Studies have shown that
is it easier to learn two languages when you are younger compared to when you are older. At Spring
Lane Elementary School in Utah the children take half of their classes in English and the other half of
their classes in Chinese. Their progress has been something to be noted. They made steady progress

The Ethical Ethics Of The Tuskegee Syphilis Study
Over the years human experiments has developed the knowledge of human physiology and

our society. It has become a debatable questions whether it s ethical or not. There has to be a limit to
where certain experiments can be implemented on humans such as trials for drugs and social

This principles is governed by two philosophical theory which is deontology and utilitarianism.
However, they need to balance the risk and benefit for the participant associated with the research.
This paper will not only focus on the breach of ethical conduct of human experimentation but also

Abstract
Energy measurement and management are amongst the major grid challenges and research efforts
have been geared towards addressing them. The emergence of smart meters in consonance with the
smart grid concept is as a result of these efforts. This paper explores the integration of Energy
Management and Control System (EMCS) technologies into smart meters to mitigate energy wastages
and ensure energy accountability. The integrated system presented in this paper leverages on the GSM
technology to provides a tripod communication between the meter, utility and the consumers. Results
from the system prototype show that the system offers the consumer the opportunity to make personal
energy budgets in line with the energy conservation, provides more consumption details than the
traditional meters and provides for the utility a better management platform of the consumer
component of the grid.

The Godfather Conflict
This quote highlights the basis half of the plot and conflicts of the The Godfather, and half of what led
to it becoming the American classic it is. From 1972, this inspirational film explores a highly
romanticized version of the Italian mafioso culture. With most of the plot being split into either family,
business, or the conflicts when they overlap. this drama has to dig deep to hook onto emotions that we
can relate to. Based on Mario Puzo s novel, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, and acted by both
experts and amateurs alike, The Godfather was produced masterfully. While we may not be able to
identify with the overall business side of the story, we are able to do so with the half closer to home.
The exceptional usage of the three hours allows this film to not seem rushed while having us hang
onto every word. Personally, the part of the film that really sold this as one of my top movies was the
dual family/business nature of the most of the plot as well as how Michael compared to Vito in being

Emotional Intelligence And Effective Leadership
Emotional Intelligence and Effective Leadership Emotional intelligence is defined as the ability
necessary to identify, assess and control the emotions of oneself, other people or entire groups (May,

moods and emotions of others with whom one is interacting. As a leader this is invaluable, since it is
important to maximize the potential of one s staff. Getting along with others is a key ability of leaders,

A second example, occurred at work when I had a phone call delivering terrible news of a personal

worked to remain positive and approachable. This enabled the department to work productively for the
rest of the afternoon, rather than have work disrupted due to a poor attitude (mine) and the response to
that attitude.
EQ vs. IQ
Emotional intelligence taps into a fundamental element of human behavior that is distinct from your
intellect. Intelligence is simply your ability to learn, and it s the same at any age (Bradberry, 2014).
However, Emotional intelligence is a flexible set of skills that can be acquired and improved with
practice. One can further develop their level of emotional intelligence over time, and don t necessarily
have to be born with it.
There is no known connection between IQ and emotional intelligence; you simply can t predict
emotional intelligence based on how smart someone is (Bradberry, 2014).
Your emotional intelligence is the foundation for a host of critical skills it impacts most everything
you say and do each day (Bradberry, 2014). Emotional intelligence is the single biggest predictor of
performance in the workplace and the strongest driver of leadership and personal excellence
(Bradberry, 2014).

to twenty years or longer depending on the circumstances and the number of visas available each year
(USCIS).
There are 226,000 family sponsored visas, 140,000 employment based visas available each year.
There is no limit for immediate family members such as spouses and children younger than 21. Due to
the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965, the number of Mexican immigrant visas can only equal
7 percent of the total permanent residents or green cards issued each year. The backlog for permanent
resident applications in pending status is approximately 1.4 million (Smith).
Mexican immigrants are excluded from the Diversity Lottery which grants immigrant visas to 50,000
winners each year. The lottery was designed to help increase the number of immigrations from
underrepresented countries like Nigeria, Iran, and Ukraine. The countries qualified to apply for the
lottery change each year (USCIS).
After having a green card or immigrant visa for 3 5 years, depending on circumstance, one can apply
for citizenship. The main reasons to apply for citizenship would be the right to vote in elections,
bringing family members to the U.S., eligibility for Federal jobs, and becoming an elected official
(USCIS).

Savage Beauty Research Papers
Understanding The Beauty
Adriana Lopez
Walking into the building I couldn?t help but feel fear. I had this strange feeling that something was
going to pop out and scare me, almost like a haunted house. The setting was very mysterious and
creepy I didn?t know what to expect next. And as a horror film enthusiast my mind couldn?t help but
create scenarios in my head. The way the exhibit was set up was like a maze, which made it feel
intriguing and never ending. The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, New York held an exhibit
called ?Savage Beauty? to honor the late designer Alexander McQueen and his contribution to
fashion. The exhibit showcased his first collection from 1992 to his final collection, right before his
death. The exhibit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They tell a story about a book or an author, a chapter in McQueen?s life, or his Scottish and British
background. The first room ?The Romantic Mind? was made of concrete and wood. It was inspired by
his first runway show called ?La Poup?e? meaning doll or puppet in French. The rawness of the
construction of the room had the meaning of the beginning of McQueen?s career, showing some of his
first designs. The designs in this room were very simple and structured the colors were very neutral.
The second room was called ?Romantic Gothic? it was inspired by Edgar Allen Poe?s book ?The fall
of the House of Usher?. McQueen often referred to himself as ?The Edgar Allen Poe of Fashion?. The
pieces in this room were dark and gothic. They were inspired by the 19th century Victorianism. The
room also had a casket that displayed pieces from his ?Angels and Demons? collection. The third
room was called ?Cabinet of Curiosities? refers to the 18th century and 19th century practice of
collecting objects of natural history. These designs were some of his most creative and innovative
designs. They say this room is the heart of the whole exhibit because it holds elements from all the
other rooms. The next room called ?Romantic Nationalism? showed his great pride of Scottish
heritage and love for British history. On the left side of the room there are mannequins lined up
wearing Scottish plaid designs and on the right the mannequins

What Is 6-03 A. Me Essay
6:03 A.M on a Saturday morning in Koshu, Japan. Getting ready to depart; I take my daypack along
with some items. I look at the sky while on the bus. Noticing the cloudy weather. Really glad I
brought my boots. Aokigahara, says a sign in big letters before entering the large spine chilling forest.
I go in, deeper and deeper; mesmerized by the beauty of nature. When I come to my senses, I reach in
my bag to grab my camera so I can begin documenting. I was unable to find it; must ve left it in the
hotel. I was bummed because now I would have to wait for tomorrow. There are many trails in the
forest, however, I know which trail I had taken to get here so I follow it back. After fifteen twenty
minutes of walking I begin to question my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now, if you chose to not bring the matches, survival will be difficult. Starting a fire with wood is
tough. Even the experts have trouble starting a fire with only wood. Now, imagine the weather is
rainy. Trying to find wood that is dry and keeping it dry is not going to be so easy i d imagine.
Bringing a sword to the wild seems like a great idea, however, after carrying it for a couple miles you
might realize it wasn t so. What s the alternative? A mini sword, also known as a knife. Extremely
versatile and not very heavy. This knife will go a long ways in survival. You ll be able to prepare meat
to then cook and eat. It serves you as protection, if you were to get in a position where you have to
defend yourself from a monkey with rabies. When you need to make a shelter, a knife will be super
useful for cutting down branches, leaves, and plants. Also, the knives butt can serve as a hammer. This
ll help for shelter making. From a survival point of view, a small knife is essential. However, maybe
you think a small knife is not good enough for protection against all predators. I agree, if a bear, lion,
tiger, or a puma wanted to attack you; the chances of surviving the attack are much higher with a
sword. Nonetheless, the chances of being attacked by a fierce predator are very low. That would be the
lesser of worries. In this setting, weather is more dangerous. If you wanted to go off road, would you
chose a Jeep or a honda civic? You

Variables of Manufacturer Trade Promotions
Introduction:
Elasticity of demand is measure by the formula: %∆ quantity demand ÷%∆ price.
Price elasticity is affected by substitute s products and available budget from consumers (Chopra
Meindl, 2007). Manufacturers prepared budget demand estimation and mismatches between
estimation and real demand generates excess inventory (IBM, 2011). Trade promotion is the
transaction among manufacturers and retailers for compensating with price reduction inventory
differences reducing inventory at manufacturing level (Chopra Meindl, 2007).

Analysis Of Angela s Ashes By Frank Mccourt Essay
Lacey Ryan
AP Lang
July 6, 2015 Angela s Ashes by Frank McCourt~ Pulitzer Prize winner
This book is a memoir focusing on the hardships of Frank McCourt s childhood and his mother s
(Angela s) difficulty raising children neck deep in poverty. This book would be a good choice for me
because the story gives people another perspective on life for those who are poor. Go Set A Watchman
by Harper Lee~ Pulitzer Prize winner
This book is the sequel of To Kill a Mockingbird, which follows 26 year old Jean Louise Finch
(Scout), home from New York to visit her father, Atticus. While visiting Scout discovers troubling
truths from her past. This book would be a good choice for me because, when I read To Kill A
Mockingbird in eighth grade I fell in love with the story. The Sense of an Ending by Julian Barnes~
Man Booker Prize
This book follows the life of middle aged Tony Webster, who recalls his past in hopes to find answers
on his friend s suicide. This book may be a good choice for me because it is shorter than many of the
other choices, but it seems very confusing from online summaries and reviews. Life of Pi by Yann
Martel~ Man Booker Prize
This book focuses on the survival of a man named Pi after a horrible shipwreck and many months in a
lifeboat with a large Bengal tiger named Richard Parker. This book would be a good choice for me
because it strikes my interests by including survival at sea with a life endangering animal. The
Stranger by Albert Camus~ Nobel Prize

The Conflict Of The Workplace
Conflict and knowing how to resolve the conflict are necessary in today s workforce.
Multigenerational workforces may generate more conflict than most related to the differences in job
performance. Moore (1986) states, conflict is a struggle between two or more people over values,
competition for status, power and scarce resources. (Moore, 1986, p. 64) Conflict can occur within
one individual, between two or more individuals, within one group, or between two or more groups.
(Sullivan, 2013)
Nursing careers involve conflict on almost a daily basis; it can occur as intrapersonal, interpersonal,
intragroup, and intergroup conflicts. Nurses can face doubt related to personal decisions and ethical
choices, nurses can face conflict with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I made the mistake of confronting the nurse in the room and in front of the patient because I was very
upset that they risked a respiratory arrest for transfer ease. I asked the nurse, What made you think that
this mode of oxygenation was acceptable for transfer when in report other oxygen delivery was being
used? The question was not very well received and I was informed that the respiratory lead instructed
her that this mode of transportation was acceptable. The conflict escalated from that point due to the
fact that I had stated in return, obviously you can see that it was not acceptable and it s your job to be
an advocate for this patient, I know that you have access to portable ventilators because we use them
all the time. Matters only deteriorated further when co workers of mine decided to become flippant
with them on their way out as well. Co workers were saying that I grew into my ICU skin that night
and had become a true ICU nurse. The humiliation that the emergency room nurse was now facing
grew exponentially at that point and I felt terrible as well, not realizing that everyone had heard what
had transpired because the unit was so quiet and the patient status had drawn so much attention.
Interpersonal conflict had occurred originally and then escalated into intergroup conflict in a matter of
moments. The conflict was quickly forgotten by me due to

  • 2. Emerald Coast Research Paper The name Emerald Coast sounds like a place from a fairytale, but the truth is, it is far better than any storyteller s fantasy land. Emerald Coast exists in reality as a place with stunning beachside cities, including, Destin, Fort Walton Beach and Okaloosa Island, breathtaking, sugar white beaches, enchanting emerald green waters, protected bays and bayous, quaint historic districts, military heritage, and hidden state parks. Located along the Northwest Florida Panhandle, between Pensacola and Panama City, on the east side of the St. Andrews Bay this 100 miles stretch of shoreline is said to have been given it name, Emerald Coast in 1983, by a local junior high school student. Early inhabitants in the region included several different Native American cultures around 500 B.C., and remnants of their civilization exist in the temple mounds and prehistoric middens surviving in Choctawhatchee Bay and Santa Rosa Sound. • 4. Human Nature Of Curiosity Curiosity within Curiosity is human nature that people are born with. From the moment someone is born they becomes curious of all their surroundings and what they can do. Curiosity also leads to instability because every one becomes curious sooner, and or later someone will break the rules or do something they aren t supposed to. Also, if one realizes they aren t really happy then they will become curious and try to find something that will make them happy. This will lead to instability in society where a small amount of people like a certain thing and others don t. It will all lead to people arguing and destroying the so called perfection that they have reached. Therefore, stability will never be reached because of people s curiosity, and because of society s will of trying to be perfect which makes it imperfect. In the World State everyone has a certain job to do and the people are separated according to their caste system, there are Alphas, Betas, Gammas, Deltas, and Epsilons. They are ordered from higher class to lower class but this doesn t stop curiosity between all of them. There are some people in the World State that experience curiosity. Bernard Marx is one of the few that are really experiencing curiosity and want something different. A great example is when he begins to feel something for Lenina and when they are on a date he asks Don t you wish you were free Lenina (91). He is not the only one though Lenina is also experiencing different emotions and she is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Who Is Fantine Grace is a gift. It is something good you do not deserve. Les Misérables is an allegory of grace against law. There s a lesson behind the stories of the miserable ones . A label stamped whom they should ve been, believing they were unchangeable. The law perceived them as someone different. True faces were hard to be shown because of prejudice, but the miserables wanted to push past that barricade One of the miserable ones is Fantine, a young woman betrayed by many. Her life was full of tribulations: the father of her daughter abandoned them, she was oppressed by her coworkers, thrown into the streets by her boss, cheated by the caretakers of her child, and stripped of her dignity. Fantine dreamed that she would have a better life. She imagined how life would be different if her dreams had not been torn apart. She sacrificed herself to keep her daughter, Cosette, alive. Grace was never given to Fantine. Because of her new lifestyle, she was considered the scum of the earth, according to high society. Jean Valjean eventually discovered Fantine weak and tired and gave her grace out of the kindness of his heart. He understood Fantine s pain as he had been on her road before; his on thievery and hers on prostitution. Jean Valjean was a former prisoner but he was given grace by a Bishop from whom he stole from. He went through a human metamorphosis and changed his life for the better. • 6. Β Galactosidase Lab Report Enzymes play a remarkably important role in biological systems. Nearly all reactions in living organisms are catalyzed by enzymes, a large majority of which have been found to be proteins. The mechanisms by which enzymes function are varied, but all mechanisms lower the transition state free energy where the free energy barrier of a reaction is the highest. Thus, an enzymatically catalyzed reaction proceeds at a significantly increased rate than that of an unanalyzed reaction. Even though the mechanism of enzymes can be reduced to such a basic idea, it is important to note that enzymes are incredibly versatile and achieve catalysis through several mechanisms. The mechanisms are identical to those of chemical catalysts, and thus comes forth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Born to a mother who was only fifteen years old, and later raised by my mother and grandmother along with six other siblings in an impoverished inner city neighborhood without the benefit of a father or any other familial male influence in my life, I have always been cognizant of what the statistics predicted would be the likely outcome of my life. Yet somehow, at an early age, I relished the role of the underdog and used it as a means for motivating myself, my siblings, and even my own mother, to pursue those things that appeared to be beyond our reach from a social and economic perspective. Chief among the motivating factors in my life was the idea of obtaining an education. For as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite playing the role of protector, there was no role that I enjoyed more than being able to help my siblings further their education, ensuring that their homework and mine was completed, accurate and ready for my mother s review upon her return home from work. For me, getting an education wasn t an option, it was the only option, a sentiment that I relentlessly stressed to my siblings, and my mother, who though a high school dropout at one point, went on to pursue and receive several college degrees later in life. At the age of 12, I took on my first job, which was essentially an entrepreneurial endeavor. My brothers and I spent the spring, summer and fall canvassing our neighborhood, seeking out residents who would allow us to mow their lawns or rake their leaves in exchange for a reasonable fee. • 8. Political Science Of Political Sabotage Or Dirty Plans Essay Ratf**ked is a term used in political science to describe political sabotage or dirty plans. David Daley, in his book of the same name, describes Republicans incentives in 2010 to take control of state legislatures and control congressional redistricting processes. Republicans were then able to take redistrict in favor of a republican controlled congress being elected. This plan was entitled The Redistricting Majority Project or REDMAP (Daley 2016). After the 2008 election, the future of the Republican Party looked grim. Obama took Republican strongholds like Virginia and North Carolina and Democrats took control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate during the election. Chris Jankowski, a member of the Republican State Leadership Committee, came up with a plan to help the Republicans gain control of the state legislatures. He realized the importance of the 2010 mid term elections with the upcoming census, whichever party controlled the state legislatures got to control the redistricting process for congressional districts in 42 of 50 states (Daley 2016). Jankowski had $30 million dollars to invest in states that Republicans could control both governors office and the legislature. His REDMAP team would create priority lists of swing states, to state houses, and finally to state senates that they had to win. Republicans focused their time and energy on areas that they believed that they could swing red or keep red by calling, sending mail, billboards, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We are taught that racism is no longer alive with in our society. This discrimination is evident with in our community which has started some movements to battle the issue of racism and the discrimination. Some movements are Black Lives Matter and the kneeling during the singing of the national anthem which was started by Colin Kaepernick back in 2016. The Black Lives Matter movement was started because of all the police brutality that we have seen in the media. The kneeling in the national anthem started with Kaepernick because he felt that he had to protest what he deems as wrongdoings against African Americans and minorities in the United States. During interviews he says, I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color, Kaepernick told NFL Media. It is easy to say that we are all equal and that our system sees no color. We can easily see that the rights of racial minorities are under attack in vital areas such as immigration, affordable healthcare and housing. A lot has happened from during the time of 1900 to 1964, California grew rapidly and soon became an agricultural and industrial power. Within the 1900 to 1939 the Segregation Era happened, racial oppression escalated across the United Sates. This Created a lot of problems along the way. From 1900 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Out of the nearly 120,000 inhabitants of the camps about 30,000 of those people were children, and these children needed to be educated in some way. Most of these classrooms were taught in Japanese and was the exact opposite of what these children needed. The fact that not all the education was in English was detrimental to the kids who were mostly all citizens. The teachers never had the appropriate material to teach their students, these crowded schools were just a way of making it seem like the government cares about the children. The push for reparations did not come up until nearly forty years later when President Jimmy Carter investigated the issue in 1980. It was determined that the internment was unethical and the citizens remaining today should receive some sort of reparations. The main reasons it was decided upon on why these individuals were interned was because of racial prejudice and hysteria. Finally, in 1988 the Civil Liberties Act was passed by President Ronald Regan, and this act gave reparations to individuals who were at some point relocated or interned. The reparations and apology was given out starting in 1990 to all the individuals who were still alive, Beginning in 1990, each surviving internee was given a $20,000 cash payment, along with a letter of apology from the government (DeWitt). Many were overjoyed that they had some time of reparation for what they went through. However, many organizations such as the American Legion, and many World War II veterans showed clear resistance to the reparations. They completely disagreed with the reparations because in their eyes the Japanese were evil in their eyes, and it was difficult for them to look upon the Japanese in any other way. • 11. Maintaining Agricultural Farmlands for the World s Growing... As the world population continues to rise, there are growing concerns for maintaining agricultural farmlands, especially in developing countries with drought and famine. This has also led to many shortages of food, due to high demand because of the increasing population. Demographists worry that if this growing issue continues to hurt food consumption of povertized countries, than there will be more deaths because the population is increasing, but the food levels are staying the same, or even decreasing. Some of these demographists believe that this is occurring, because the developed countries are intaking too much food. Others believe that this is because of the overpopulated countries, and the fact that they are in higher need for food because of their population. Another problem that arises within this is deforestation. Deforestation is a part of this growing problem because when massive woodlands are cut down, the lands become dry and bodies of water in or around the land dry up, making crops unsuitable for crop growth and crop rotation, leading to the lands to turn into non arable lands. This is also known as desertification. This correlates with population growth because if lands become non arable, then crops won t grow there, leading to starvation in developing countries with higher population needs and demands. Although some people are taking action for the problems that this issue has given us, we re still nowhere near solving the problem. This issue is very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Changes Of Pregnancy During Pregnancy The changes in the hematologic system and in haemostasis during pregnancy are important for maternal and foetal homoeostasis. The dramatic changes of pregnancy increase the demands of nutrient intake to support the mother and foetus. Iron is an essential nutrient required during pregnancy because it is required to create new red blood cells during pregnancy that is essential to synthesise haemoglobin so that oxygen can be transported between the mother and foetus. During pregnancy, the volumes of both blood and plasma increase to tolerate the demands of the uterus enlarging. Also, the hypertrophied vascular system increases to maintain systemic blood pressure. Furthermore, during delivery, a mother can be expected to lose large volumes of blood and adequate iron stores help the mother to tolerate blood loss. Moreover, red blood cell volume needs to increase to allow adequate availability of oxygen to the foetus. Increased RBC volume has to occur to support the expanding uteroplacental circulation, which ensures the foetus receives the essential amounts of nutrients during gestation. Iron stores in nonpregnant women are commonly low because of the loss of menstrual blood which 1 mL blood loss is equal to the loss of the element iron 0.5mg. In total, the typical Fe loss during menses loss is between 12 to 15mg. The typical values for Iron intake by women is between 12 to 18mg/day. • 13. The Reality Of Real World With an increasing amount of technology invested in virtual reality, real life is now merging with a fictional world that can be created and manipulated. Another manner in which the real world is capable of joining a manufactured world is through the usage of comic books. Real world events have been and are continuously mixed up with the lives of superheroes such as when heroes were depicted fighting against Hitler and the Nazi s in World War II. There are two main types of representations of real world events and that is through indirect representation using allegories and metaphors and directly representing them by simply showing the incidents within the comics. Comics represent real events more efficiently through allegories as opposed to directly having those situations intertwined within the stories because of several reasons including that it gives readers an opportunity to reflect on certain events if they see the connection between the comic and the event. However, they are not forced to see the reference such as when the event is clearly illustrated within the story because this would retract a reader s ability to escape from the real world to a fictional world. One comic that has an indirect representation of current events is Marvel s Civil War. The story starts off with a group of rookie superheroes that are attempting to capture some villains. Blitzkrieg Fail German Germany On Nazi Germany When Blitzkrieg Fails Nazi Germany on the Eastern Front Throughout of the duration of World War Two, Germany s offensive tactic of Blitzkrieg served her well; vital in the invasions of France, Poland, Belgium, and numerous other attacks. Yet, when Germany faced trouble in the Battle of Britain and turned to the Eastern front instead, this tank, infantry, and Luftwaffe method proved unsuccessful. Operation Barbarossa first began with little resistance, as Germany swept quickly into the Soviet Union. It is not until winter set in that Blitzkrieg began to fail, and the weak remainder of fighting on the Eastern front following the rough winter finally showed Germany s weakness as their iconic tactic proved to be beatable. Operation Barbarossa began on the morning of June 22nd 1941, when Germany attacked on the front stretching from the Baltic to the Black Sea, first breaking the Nazi Soviet Non Aggression Pact. Experts at their Blitzkrieg tactic by then, Germany pushed 50 miles into the Soviet Union in the first day. Stalin, left with a weakened Red Army after purging past generals who would have proved critical in this attack, enforced the scorched earth policy, in which his people burnt everything left behind when they retreated; leaving nothing for the Germans. At that time, Hitler anticipated only an 8 week war. This seemed to be a reasonable idea initially, as they took Kiev, laid siege to Leningrad and key cities on the way to Crimea all before winter. Most people are easily distracted in this era filled with constant distractions and people with the attention spans like squirrels. I can even attest to having one of these squirrel attention spans, and as such, if I am reading a story that does not entice me quickly enough, I usually just move on. I have found that the best way to maintain the attention span of a reader is by posing an irresistible question or by making them so emotional, that they cannot resist reading. The lead demonstrated the pain that the team was suffering through by the statement had to take the field . They did not have to take the field because they owed it to Fernandez or to the fans, they had to because it was their job and they had no other option about it. Term 2 Considering the experience of one country with compulsory voting, and one in which voting is voluntary, does compulsory voting tend to enhance the quality of democracy? Compulsory voting can be defined as the legal obligation to attend the polls at election time According to a dictionary definition, democratic state is one where supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system. In order to make sure everyone is exercising this right to vote, some countries have enforced laws that prevent people from disregarding this civil duty. As an individual liberty consists in exemption from legal control, so political liberty consists in participation in legal control. Compulsory voting is in the interest of everyone in the country, through voting we are given a voice to decide which people amongst us we would rather have serving and protecting us. The initial expectation is that a substantial gap exists between the voting rates of the socially advantaged because the latter are less informed about politics, feel more alienated from the political system and are not the main target of mobilization efforts by political parties One of the problems with countries with voluntary voting is that participation is low participation which can also be called low electoral turnout. one of the problems most democratic states with voluntary voting have, is the turnout of electoral processes. Everyone has the right to vote but people on the day of election stay home and turnouts end up low. These states end up having less than 60% turnout. Marriage is supposed to be about abundant mutual love between two people. In this case, marriage is viewed more as an for opportunity to receive citizenship and a way to improve your of social status. Relationships and marriage are a common theme throughout the novel. Obinze s marriage with Cleotilde is one another example in the book of how marriage for men is viewed as a path to improving your chances of receiving citizenship. Obinzes attempt to marry Cleotilde was a true fabrication and is not a very good example of what love actually means. When they first met, Obinze s sense of entitlement, and superiority made in very difficult for him to treat Cleo as she deserved to be treated. A fake marriage of convenience not for love but for the opportunity of citizenship is contrary to Obinze s morals. This causes Obinze to have a moral crisis inside and question the path he has taken in life. Normally marriage happens when two people decide that they would rather spend time together than apart and would find it difficult to continue without the other. In a normal relationship couples will from time to time face adversity and together work to overcome whatever challenges they face, but the adversity faced by the couple in this novel are bigger and more complex than what other couples would typically face. There is no common factor found among all people that suffer great physical and emotional pain. It happens to people of all religions, ethnicities, and morality. Suffering does not seek out the guilty, it is just a part of life. FPGA is used in the wireless sensor node design in order to enhance the processing capabilities of the system to meet the target applications. The sensor nodes in a wireless sensor network are normally microcontroller based which are having inadequate computational capacity related to various applications. This paper describes the selection, specification and comprehension of a wireless sensor node using the field programmable gate array (FPGA) based architecture for an early detection of hazards (e.g. smoke and fire). The FPGAs in its place are more proficient for complex computations in compare to microcontrollers. Another benefit of using FPGA is also due to its reconfigurable characteristic without changing the hardware itself. The node is implemented using Spartan 3A FPGA board from Xilinx. A design of simple hardware circuit with different type of fire sensors enables every user to use this wireless fire security system. The FPGA will constantly supervise all the sensors and if it senses any security trouble then the FPGA will send the information to the PC central monitoring station wirelessly using Zigbee technology. The system is based on the Lab VIEW software. Keywords FPGA; Wireless Sensor Network (WSN); Temperature sensor; Smoke sensor; Fire sensor; Zigbee; LabVIEW. I. Based on Mario Puzo s novel, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, and acted by both experts and amateurs alike, The Godfather was produced masterfully. While we may not be able to identify with the overall business side of the story, we are able to do so with the half closer to home. The exceptional usage of the three hours allows this film to not seem rushed while having us hang onto every word. Personally, the part of the film that really sold this as one of my top movies was the dual family/business nature of the most of the plot as well as how Michael compared to Vito in being the Godfather.. The Corleones steadily became more violent over the course of The Godfather, but this can be attributed to the fact that the threat against their family is increasing. On the other hand, the moment Vito is out of the picture, Michael offers to murder the family s enemies for revenge. Even when Sonny is brutally peppered by bullets from a dozen Barzini buttonmen, Vito offers a ceasefire opportunity. Michael simply had them all assassinated because it would be easier and more efficient overall. We see here that the father son morality split is why this movie is such an inspiration and a model for power struggles in general. This enabled the department to work productively for the rest of the afternoon, rather than have work disrupted due to a poor attitude (mine) and the response to that attitude. EQ vs. IQ Emotional intelligence taps into a fundamental element of human behavior that is distinct from your intellect. Intelligence is simply your ability to learn, and it s the same at any age (Bradberry, 2014). However, Emotional intelligence is a flexible set of skills that can be acquired and improved with practice. One can further develop their level of emotional intelligence over time, and don t necessarily have to be born with it. There is no known connection between IQ and emotional intelligence; you simply can t predict emotional intelligence based on how smart someone is (Bradberry, 2014). Your emotional intelligence is the foundation for a host of critical skills it impacts most everything you say and do each day (Bradberry, 2014). Emotional intelligence is the single biggest predictor of performance in the workplace and the strongest driver of leadership and personal excellence (Bradberry, 2014). Why Leaders need ...
