The Tragedy Of The Titanic Disaster
On the night of April 14, 1912 the world was struck with disaster as the RMS Titanic collided with an
iceberg and sunk into the sea. Only 31.6% survived the disaster. In order to understand what factors
lead to the highest chances of survival, this project uses a Titanic passenger database and decision
trees in order to classify survivors into two groups, survived and perished. Then using this
information, rank the most important factors regarding the likelihood of survival. From our
experiments we found that the most important factor in surviving the Titanic disaster was title and that
a decision tree that created around that variable as its highest level decision had a correct classification
rate of 79.425%

Additionally, the database also provides the class that the passenger was in, their ticket number, their
cabin number, ticket price, and where they embarked. From this information, we hope to understand
what factors played and role in survival and which were the most important.
The rest of this paper proceeds as follows: In section 2, this paper discusses the creation of a decision
tree. Section 3 describes to experimentation on the Titanic dataset. Section 4 gives the results of the
comparison and the conclusions from the project.
2 Creating a Decision Tree
We decided that the best to answer these questions would be to create a decision tree in order to
classify which passengers into two categories survived and perished. By creating a decision tree that
was able to classify most of the passengers statuses correctly, we know which of the factors were the
most important due to the fact that the most important factors would be located at the top of the tree.
The factors located on lower levels of the tree are less important, due to the fact that they are the
deciding factor for survival for a smaller group of people.
To create a decision tree, we begin by cleaning the data that we receive from the database. First, we
remove the names of the passengers, due to the fact that we can more easily refer to them by their
passenger ids. We also remove the information connected to cabin number, due

Analysis of Mozart s K. 515 Mvt. 1
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Quintet No. 3 in C major, K. 515
Andrew McGuire
Dr. Burkart
MUSHIS 200
11/19/2012
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a prodigy of his time, and arguable the greatest of all time. This paper
will discuss an analysis of his third string quintet in C major, K. 515. Through this piece in Sonata
Form we will dissect the exposition, the development, the recapitulation, and the coda; along with an
analysis of the quintet we will briefly discuss parts of Mozart s life, as well as look at the background
of the Viola Quintet No. 3 in C Major, K. 515. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born into a musical
family after his sister Nannerl, by his father and mother Leopold and Anna Maria. His beginnings
would originate in Salzburg, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As with codas we find our final theme in the piece the part proceeding the measure of rest (see Figure
5). Delving deeper into the coda we find theme two reoccurring in the tonic key, this time not
segregated by instrument parts. For the first time in the movement we see the two viola parts
obviously playing what is the theme (see Figure 6), right before we see the second viola briefly mingle
with the cello.
Figure [ 6 ]
After the brief return of theme two between the cello and violas we end happily on the tonic of the
piece. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this piece. Not only this piece but also this assignment. It is one
thing to sit in class and read about and take notes over sonata allegro form. It is completely another to
be expected to dive deeper into a piece and try to figure out its inner most workings. As a violist I also
appreciate the fact that Mozart went against the normality of the cello quintet and wrote a viola
quintet. The fact he was willing to go against what was expected of him by society makes me respect
him as a composer even more. After a glimpse into the life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, we have
discussed his Quintet No. 3 in C major. Discussed its themes and their placement, as well as briefly
the variations of these themes. We also saw a brief glimpse into history around the time that the K.

Comparing Two Movie Genres
How we choose the movie genres that we would like to watch. One could simply choose a genre to
watch just by what they love to watch or by how they are feeling on that particular day. Some people
have a preference towards the actors that may be performing in a particular movie genre. Others prefer
more than one genre, were not subjected to just choose one genre, but some may just stick to one
genre.
We all have preference when it comes to movies. Some may love horror and then some may prefer an
action movie or even a comedy. Some may be prejudiced to a movie just because of the genre the
movie has been placed. Genre is a classification of artistic composition based upon their style, form,
or subject matter. Genre is an important part ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the end, they both get their family back and the bad people are defeated. The reason one might choose
action to watch over another genre is the thrill and excitement that an action movie gives

Narrative Essay About Fishing
My cousins always push me into things I don t want to do. In the past they have pushed me or
convinced me to do something that I don t want to do. They love to go boating and so do I, but when it
comes to one of them driving the boat while we are tubing. I want to stay as far away from the water
as possible. Or else they will jump from tube to tube, or go 50 miles an hour and give me a huge
migraine from yelling at them to slow the boat down. I m like them in many ways but at the same time
not so much. I don t go hike up the side of a mountain for fun, or jump off a cliff without a life jacket..
A lot of the older ones are crazier than us young ones. Especially when they are trying something new
that can be dangerous sometimes. Especially when they tried to push me into some dangerous stunts a
couple vacations ago. It was like a gust of exhilaration as I started my descent off the cliff. It was like
a gust of adrenaline as I fell almost 50 feet in the air only to reach a dangerous deep whirlpool of
murky lake water at the bottom. I felt as If I was floating on top of a still pool and the nice refreshing
feel of water giving me chills from the tip of my toes ,through my spine, and to the outside of my

Total Rewards Essay
Introduction Total rewards is an effective tool utilized by employers or leaders to reward their
employees based upon their job productivity, proficiency, and accomplishments. The ability to
understand established processes and procedures must be exercised by leaders in the conduction of
meetings in order to reach a desired end state. Ted s professionalism and resilience were put to the test,
following verbal comments pertaining to Rebecca s job performance from two of the organization s
executives, Peter Strong and Margo Arms. Every job within an organization must have a salary cap

Ted, one of the most popular managers within the company exercised resilience at its finest when the
two executives interrupted him while he was greeting the committee at the onset of the job evaluation
meeting. The meeting was held to discuss job rating reviews, but as Ted was outlining the purpose of
the meeting, the two executives wanted to bypass Ted s plans for the meeting and discuss Rebecca s
job rating in an effort to enhance total compensation within the power of the organization. In the U. S.
Army, most master resilience trainers defines what the two executives were trying to do, as effective
praise. I highly recommend employers and leaders to understand everything within their ability to
enhance total compensation to their employees or individuals because valued, selfless, and courageous
efforts should be recognized and rewarded. I remember countless occasions when my Soldiers SGT
Ni, SSG Stevens, and SGT Tippens would motivate their Soldiers to score high on the Army Physical
Fitness Test (APFT). A few Soldiers would maximize the standards set forth by the Army during every
administered company level APFT. In return these three Sergeants would come to me to have the
Soldiers stand in front of a formation of other Soldiers and reward them with a three or four day
weekend pass, do physical training on their own for thirty days, and even get a certificate of
achievement for their accomplishments. There are strengths and weaknesses found in every

Essay about Campaign Finance Reform
Campaign finance reform has a broad history in America. In particular, campaign finance has
developed extensively in the past forty years, as the courts have attempted to create federal elections
that best sustain the ideals of a representative democracy. In the most recent Supreme Court decision
concerning campaign finance, Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, the Court essentially
decided to treat corporations like individuals by allowing corporations to spend money on federal
elections through unlimited independent expenditures. In order to understand how the Supreme Court
justified this decision, however, the history of campaign finance in regards to individuals must be
examined. At the crux of these campaign finance laws ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, these laws are particularly important because they deal with discussion of public issues
and debate on the qualifications of candidates. This sort of speech allows citizens to make an informed
decision about which candidate they will elect. This is crucial to the operation of the government, for
those who are elected will shape the nation in a profound way. As legal scholar Alexander Meiklejohn
argued when explaining the necessity of protecting political speech, self governance can only exist
insofar as the voters acquire the intelligence, integrity, sensitivity, and generous devotion to the
general welfare that, in theory, casting a ballot is assumed to express. For these reasons, the ability to
spend money on elections is essential to the First Amendment, as it allows for the communication of
ideas and opinions that are crucial to democracy. The need to protect this first amendment right,
however, is balanced against the need to avoid corruption in federal elections. The Federal Election
Campaign Act of 1971 (FECA) attempted to revamp the structure of campaign finance, particularly
dealing with eliminate corrupt uses of campaign contributions. Money in the form of a contribution
can easily be seen as a bribe, or an attempt to influence a candidate in the contributor s favor. FECA

Aquarium and Conservatory
The first time a person looks upon the visual piece on the outside of the Belle Isle Aquarium, even if
that person does not speak English, they can easily deduce what is hidden within the interesting
building. The outside shows koi fish, shells (a sign of welcome), Roman God of the sea (Neptune) as
the keystone on the arch, and a cartouche displaying the seal of the city of Detroit. This is all done in
Terra Cotta, interestingly enough. With this being the entrance, upon entering the building any person
would know that they would soon meet aquatic creatures. The Conservatory is very architecturally
different from the Aquarium, which is slightly humorous considering the two buildings were once
connected. This building has a large ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The floor was once a lovely marble, but has since regrettably been replaced with bath tile in that 1954
renovation (Mayell). A long time ago, spittoons were everywhere, dating the old building quite a bit.
The cross shaped floor plan allows the maximum amount of tanks while providing a sense of mystery
to discover exhibits behind the hidden corners (Boardman). At the end of the aquarium was once a
home to otters, however, they started to create too much of an odor so they had to be removed. There
was once also a large shrunken pool under the dome that was home to an alligator and turtles.
At the time of its opening, the Aquarium was among the sixth largest in the world (Austin). High tech
equipment, for this time, was installed and permitted for the keeping of both seawater and fresh water
marine life and the observance of the correct water temperatures in the correct tanks. The water was
recycled through the tanks because, according to marine preservationists, fish survive better in water
they have already lived in (Austin). Originally, an 8,531 gallon center tank with a railing around it
occupied the center of the building and was topped off with filtered water that snaked through 5 miles
of piping. The Conservatory is not only a Greenhouse, but also a Botanical garden, and has a dome of
its own. At 85 feet high, its dome provides 100,600 cubic feet for large palm trees (Baross). Other
plants include banana trees,

Philosophy Of Continuous Improvement
Continuous improvement is basically a philosophy which is considered to be one consisting of
Improvement initiatives that increase successes and decreases failures (Juergensen, 2000). This
technique is widely used in many corporations and companies to find the cause of the losses and deal
with it. I work in a hospital, so every worker should be as proficient as it is possible because people s
lives depend on that. We have a lot of quality and continuous improvements. They include different
doctors, nurses, and interns in order to increase the overall professionalism of all of them. Besides
that, everyone also has to work on his or her mistakes and ask a piece of advice in more experienced
workers. During this course, I want to find out

Identity In Romeo And Juliet
William Shakespeare wrote many plays, including Romeo and Juliet. The real title of the play is The
Extraordinary and Lamentable Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet takes place Verona in
the mid 1300 s. The idea of identity heavily impacts the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. By the end of
the play, family affiliation, gender, social class, and age all contribute to the tragedy of the play. Today
s idea of identity is drastically different than the 1300 s, but at the same time, they are very much
fraternal. In Romeo and Juliet, Romeo and Juliet s families were enemies, this caused them to have
forbidden love for one another. At the masquerade ball, Romeo and Juliet danced together, when

Revitalization Movement In Ghost Dance
Deculturalization System
Esteemed author Brewton Berry wrote in 1968 that those involved in the education of natives
presumed that the purpose of educating native students was to assimilate them. They presumed that
natives would function better in society if they adopted the ways of the white man including his skills,
knowledge, language, values, religion, customs and attitudes (including those attitudes towards
slavery) (Dehyle Swisher 1997). This is because the white man s way of life set the standard for all
others to follow and for that education seemed the best process by which to effectively assimilate the
natives.

During the time of the native boarding schools, some native children did not return to their homes but
instead remained in the white communities. Some married other deculturalized natives while some
went to marry and procreate with white peoples. Some even went on to own slaves and run their own
plantations. In the southern states the whites felt that black and native mixing would present a
significant threat. SC in 1725 passed a law that stipulated a fine of 200 pounds for persons bringing a
slave to the frontier regions. In 1751 South Carolina passed a law against holding Africans in close
proximity to Native Americans, which was deemed problematic. Some people took less legal routes in
killing women native and black for carrying mixed race babies. Today natives and blacks coexist in

Childhood Abuse In Eveline
James Joyce s short story Eveline is set in Dublin, Ireland during the turn of the 20th century. The
suffering was of the Irish was immense during this time in history, due to the struggle of against the
English occupation of Ireland. An observation made about Dublin during the early 1900 s was that the
Irish capital is paralysed by Catholicism, by the English imperialism, by grave poverty and social
injustice (Boyson). Ireland was still reeling from the famine the occurred fifty years earlier. The great
potato famine as it s called, led to mass migration, starvation, and disease. Joyce incorporates this
heavy darkness, weariness, and resignation into his story about Eveline. In his short story Joyce

Osmosis in Potatoes
AT1 Osmosis In Potatoes
Aim: Investigate the movement of osmosis through a selectively permeable membrane, in this case
potato.
Introduction: Osmosis is the movement of water through a semi permeable membrane, separating
solutions of different concentrations. The water passes from a region of high concentration to a region
of low concentration, until the two concentrations are equal in concentrations of water.
Many cell membranes behave as semi permeable membranes, and osmosis is a vital mechanism in the
transport of fluids in living organisms, for example, in the transport of water from the soil to the roots
in plants.

Method After having done our preliminary work, we knew exactly which measurements we needed to

we intended on doing repeats at the same time as the original experiments were going on.
For organisation s sake, we set up all of the test tubes at once, and labelled them individually to avoid
confusion later on. Into each test tube, we poured 15mls of Glucose solution, and added one of the
potato chips, each weighing around 1 gram, and measuring 33mm by 5mm. In order to make it as
much of a fair test as possible, we added the potato chips very quickly, to make sure one chip didn t
have a longer amount of time in the solution than another. We then left each one for 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, we emptied each test tube, leaving only the potato chips inside. Before we measured
and weighed each chip, we dabbed them with paper towel. If we had of left excess water on the chips,
the weights would not be accurate. We then measured the chips in mms because they are a more

The rise of crude oil has also effected the sales of trucks. With comapnays no buying or spending as

prices have been going up people are blaming the federal govenerment. They believe the president has
influence of derterming the outcomes of tensions betwwen Israel and Iran. Some people blame
incrased prices based on fears around the world. It all comes down to one thing to blame, capitalism.
Calitalism can be great to an economic system because of its emphasis on efficienc and inbradible
success rate at allowing those who control the means of production and resources to meet the demands
of those with purchasing power. Capitalism is constantly evolveing and will impact the gap between

Space Flight Research Paper
Before launching a rocket into the unknown, there are a number of factors that need to be considered
before taking flight. Over the past 200,000 years, humans have adapted well to life on earth, through
many generations. Manned missions to space have only been occurring for 55 years and humans
haven t had the chance to adapt to its harsh environment and this can take a toll on the human body.
The more serious effects of long term space flight include weightlessness (muscle atrophy and

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Multilevel Inverters
3.1 CLASSIFICATION OF MODULATION STRATEGIES The modulation methods used in
multilevel inverters can be classified according to the switching frequency was discussed in Rodriguez
et al (2002), Celanovic and Boroyevic (2001) and Rodriguez et al (2001). Modulation techniques that
work with high switching frequencies have many commutations for the power semiconductors in a
cycle of the fundamental output voltage. Multilevel inverters generate sinusoidal voltages from
discrete voltage levels, and Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) strategies accomplish this task of
generating sinusoids of variable voltages and frequencies. Several techniques for the implementation
of PWM for multilevel inverters have been developed. The well known high switching ... Show more

This result has been obtained for the multi cell inverter in a seven level configuration, which uses
three series connected cells in each phase. The smallest distortion is obtained when the carriers are
shifted by an angle of 120°.
A very common practice in industrial applications for the multilevel inverter is the injection of a third
harmonic in each cell to increase the output voltage was discussed in Hammond (1997) and Hill and
Harbourt (1999). Another advantageous feature of multilevel SPWM is that the effective switching
frequency of the load voltage is much higher than the switching frequency of each cell, as determined
by its carrier signal. This property allows a reduction in the switching frequency of each cell, thus
reducing the switching losses.
The advantage of the method is that it is very simple. But it has two disadvantages. The first method
cannot completely eliminate the low order harmonics. Therefore the low order harmonics cause loss
and high filter requirements. The second method is the high switching frequency which causes high
switching loss and low efficiency

Unisa Building Construction
The UniSA s School of Law is a heritage building with important historical value. It was built in 1940
41 for the administrative headquarters of the South Australian Brewing Company. In 1956, extensions
were added to the original building. The Georgian style of the building, was designed by the architect
F Kenneth Milne, who chose clay brick masonry as the material for the structure (Adelaide City
Heritage 2015). Through the years, the building has been exposed to an earthquake in 1954
(Sinadinovski, Greenhalgh Love 2006), wind loads, humidity, temperature variations, internal loads
and other forces. All these factors have an impact on the structure and it has led the building to several
small structural damages. The aim of this paper is to research and study the structural behavior of clay
brick masonry and analyse the damages on the UniSA Law building. This will lead to an
understanding of what factors led to the failures and propose an approach of how it can be fixed. 2.

Wind, rain and small quakes that Adelaide has experienced since being built has had an effect on the
building. The wind and rain has caused wear and tear over long periods of time with rain seeping into
the brickwork. Earthquakes have also affected the Law building even though they have rarely
occurred in Adelaide. These effects on the building depend on the magnitude of the earthquake. The
biggest earthquake that the building has experienced happened in 1954 which was recorded to be 5.6
on the Richter scale. This had an effect on all parts of the building, both internal and external. These
were from the foundations of the building to the roof, damaging the materials used in the construction

The Birth Of The Periodic Table
In September 1860 the birth of the Periodic table began. A group of the world s best chemists
assembled in Germany to discuss the issues of atomic mass. At this meeting an Italian chemist,
Stanislao Cannizzaro, introduced the right way to accurately measure the relative mass of an atom.
After the new method was introduced chemists started to recognize similarities in the properties of
various elements and placed them into families. In this earlier stages of the periodic table there were
four main chemists; Dobereiner, Newlands, Lothar Meyer, and Dmitri Mendeleev that played a
substantial role in the development of the periodic table. Dobereiner started with a few family groups
each containing three elements. Newlands put the elements of those families in repeating groups
called octaves. Meyer noted additional repeating properties. Mendeleev put it all together into what
has become the periodic table of the elements. The German chemist, named Dobereiner, in 1829 noted
some of the first elemental similarities. His observations began with bromine, which had just been
discovered. He noticed that the properties of bromine were similar to chlorine and iodine. Not only
were they related but also various properties of bromine, including the atomic weight, fell midway
between the properties of chlorine and iodine, but also there was a pattern within the group of
regularly increasing atomic weights. As he did his research he noticed a couple other groups of
elements with patterns

Definition Essay Family
The Dictionary definition of family is A group consisting of parents and children living together in a
household. My definition of family is people with an unconditional love for each other. My family and
I have always been very close. For example, we share all of our secrets with each other. Since I can
remember, my family and I have always went on a family beach trip to Panama City Beach. We stay at
the Shores of Panama, a very nice resort, and the people who own it expect us every year. We always
take our beach trip in early September. The reason they decided on September is because it is the
beginning of fall which means it will be warm instead of hot. I look forward to going to the beach with

Military Diet Research Paper
The Military Diet is a popular fad diet that purports to help people lose up to 10 pounds in three days.
Though the diet is not endorsed or written by the actual military, it is believed to have originated from
a military officer who used it to lose weight quickly while training. The diet is based on the idea that
certain foods burn more calories when eaten in a specific combination with one another. The foods
must be eaten exactly as described in the diet plan in order for rapid weight loss to occur. The strict
eating plan is followed for 3 days, with a four to five day rest afterward. During the rest period, users

Human Organs Should Be Banned
Why wait your life in anticipation for a human organ when you could purchase the right match and
start living your life? Day in and day out people around the world pass away before they can even
have the chance to live. Usually the waiting list exceeds the amount of organs available. Nevertheless,
the sales of human organs should be legalized in the hopes that people have a chance to live.
Organ sale for example, allowing or encouraging consenting adults to become living kidney donors in
return for money has been proposed as a possible solution to the seemingly chronic shortage of organs
for transplantation. Many people however regard this idea as abhorrent and argue both that the
practice would be unethical and that it should be banned. This entry outlines some of the different
possible kinds of organ sale, briefly states the case in favor, and then examines the main arguments
against.
The expression organ sale covers a wide range of different practices. People most readily associate it
with the case in which one individual (who needs or wants money) sells his or her kidney to another
(who needs a kidney). But there are other possibilities too. One (in countries where the prior consent
of the deceased is required for cadaveric organ donation) is to pay people living now for rights over
their body after death. Another (in countries where the consent of relatives is required for cadaveric
organ donation) is to pay relatives for transplant rights over their recently

Disadvantages Of Sexual Harassment
Think about having to be forced or coerced to demeaning and misappropriate conduct day in and out
because you fear losing your job or being demoted to a less desirable position. Focus on how many
victims of sexual harassment underwent calling out sick so that they would not have to be manipulated
into doing acts that were degrading and immoral with someone they believed they could trust, like
their supervisor. Moreover, walking into an atmosphere where work is not fun, but stressful and causes
you much anguish and dissatisfaction, only because you are having to undergo much discomfort and
shameful acts. Further, think about the thought of walking into your office everyday in anxiety and
fear because you need your job and want your job. However, but you did not ask for the unwelcome
sexual gestures, inappropriate touching, pressure to perform certain unlawful duties or be given
stipulations such as do as you are told and instructed or be terminated. All the more, this is what many
of the past case victims were accustomed to and subjected to each day while in the workplace.
Consequently, this is what many victims of sexual harassment endure each day because they are too
afraid to stand up and say anything to anyone because of fear of not being believed, afraid of losing
their jobs, or generally because they were not sure what could be done.
Even before sexual harassment and retaliation become widely known terms it was very much present
and prevalent in many organizations.

Canadian Fur Trade Analysis
Canada should be considered a product of two nations
France and Britain s arrival and settlement in Canada had made an economic, political and cultural
contribution to the foundation of the nation at such a level that Canada should be considered a product
of two nations. It all started with the first French settlers that were drawn to Canada because of its
resources. French were the first Europeans to have a vision of the fur trade potential in Canada.
According to the historian Christopher Moore, it was Samuel de Champlain who achieves the
permanent settlement of Europeans in what was called New France and in consequence he becomes a
major figure in Canadian culture heritage (Brune, 2003, p. 94). His relationship with the aboriginal

1763. This conquest resulted in the reinforcement of Roman Catholic Church and old feudal system of

the war men were needed so women took the responsibility to keep working the farms and businesses.
Aboriginal people were alert to the advance of the British because they were concerned about their
lands. As the historian Olive Dickason says, while the defeat of France was a bitter blow to French
Canadians, it was a disaster for the Aboriginal nations of Quebec, of the east coast, of the Great Lakes
region, and of the northwest (Brune, 2003, p. 177). After the war, Aboriginal people started loosing
their land because of the English invasion, which were controlling most of their lands. British wanted

[Fridman contrasts the ideals of the nerd and of American culture by seeing how they stand up at one
of the most prestigious academic institutions: Harvard.] Fridman proclaims that even at Harvard there
is a minority of undergraduates for whom pursuing knowledge is the top priority (lines 15 17). Many
Americans see Harvard as the college attended by the best of the brightest and would expect it to have
a nerdy atmosphere, however this is not the case. It is a shocking revelation for Americans to learn
how the anti intellectual culture has seeped into every part of an American s life: from kindergarten to
college. Therefore, Fridman manipulates these perplexed and shocked emotions to prompt Americans
to agree with him through his statement enough is enough, (line 29). Furthermore, he does this to
demonstrate how Americans do not want to learn for the sake of learning and only desire to attend
college so they can get a better job and make more money than valuing the education they are
receiving. [At the end of the article, Fridman exercises a series of rhetorical questions to draw an extra
emphasis on how nerds keep America a world superpower.] During paragraph eight Fridman proposes

Identify the key factors that help ensure the information required for the project is gathered
successfully.
Information gathering techniques are the core of systems analysis. According to Valacich At the
outset, you must collect information about the information systems that are currently in use. You need
to find out how users would like to improve the current systems and organizational operations with
new or replacement information systems. (p. 126). The first information gathering technique would be
individual interviews. Each interview should be well planned out. It should be scheduled when the
interviewee has time and the intention of the interview should be explained beforehand. An interview
guide or checklist should be created for each interview. During the interview ask both open ended and
close ended questions, listen closely to what the interviewee has to say, and take notes during the
interview. Interview a wide range of personnel from everyday users to management.
Another information gathering technique is directly observetion of the users in the current HR system.
By observing users using the current system different issues with the system can be seen that may
have been missed in an interview. Havelka says these observations will provide a more accurate
depiction of operations, requirements, and procedures within the company (April 25, 2002).
Analyzing business documents is yet another information gathering technique. Documents such as

How To Build A Traffic Jam Essay
When we start talking about traffic, the first thing that comes to our mind is road rage; however, it
would surprise you how people stay cool in this type of chaos. Gridlocks are the nightmare for any
driver. I have been driving for eight years, and I have had the opportunity to see different types of
behaviors in a traffic jam. It is surprisingly amazing how traffic jams can bring out the worst and the
best of you. Throughout my driving life, I had been stuck in heavy traffic that lasted more than four
hours, and light traffic that only lasted less than forty five minutes. However, sitting in traffic gave me
the opportunity to categorize driver s behavior such as the ass of the jungle, the monk drivers, the
snoopies and the hot head ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I totally have seen some drivers acting like a monk in traffic. The monk drivers tend not to feel
desperate, and usually they distract themselves with other activities. For example, my cousin used to
drive from Woodbridge to Alexandria when she studied at NOVA. Sometimes she used to get stuck in
rush hour traffic, and she used to read her lecture in the traffic. To be honest, I totally see that as a
smart way to spend time in traffic. Another example that shows the behavior of a monk driver is
catching up with old friends or relatives. I got stuck in a terrible traffic, and I decided to call my
grandmother. We spent two hours talking which helped me to get distracted. In hindsight it does sound
dangerous to talk on the phone while driving, but this time any car wasn t moving a bit. Also, Monk
drivers prepare a playlist before getting out from home. Listening to your favorite music can give you
a sense of tranquility. In fact, monk drivers practice a lot of equanimity, which is a mental calmness.
Overall, drivers in general should take the traffic jam with a sense of equanimity, so they can find
moments of tranquility in a chaotic traffic jam.
Moreover, we have the snoopy drivers. Being sneaky is a horrible habit that some people tend to
develop in life. As we know sneakiness is really different from curiosity. Being curious is the act to get
harmless information that can actually satisfy our knowledge. However, being sneaky is to be
interested in others

Fruit Ph Experiment
Fruits are very delicious and healthy. In this experiment our problem is How does pH levels vary in
different fruits? The independent variable of this experiment is fruits, units: pounds/Ibs. The
dependent variable is the pH levels. The constant variable is the boiling water. The hypothesis for this
experiment is if we test the pH levels of oranges, cherries, and grapes then, the oranges would have a
higher pH because it s a very acidic fruit which would make it have a higher pH level. We will use
boiled water then, add the varieties of fruit we chose into the pot, then strain the mixture of boiling
water and cut up the fruit. The color would tell us the pH level of that fruit.

This is where we got our idea to experiment multiple fruits and find out which has a higher pH level.
Even though in our experiment some fruits maybe more acidic than others, that s fine because our
body needs a balance of acidic and base foods. In the Cabbage Chemistry experiment the cabbage is
the pH indicator meanwhile in our experiment the fruits are the pH indicators. Sometimes we need to
eat more acidic foods because when we play sports for example like basketball or just running we
release a lot of carbon dioxide, which is an acid that lowers the acidity in our bodies. This can lead to
our bodies being imbalanced, so this is why we would need to eat more acidic foods therefore are
bodies can be balanced again. Another similar experiment we found was Candy pH, is like ours except
they re using chocolate candies, sweet candies, and sour candies. We re both testing the acidity but just
different foods. Likewise our procedures are similar because they put the different candies in boiling

Air Purifiers Advantages
Air Purifiers and Their Benefits.
You may wonder, How do I choose the right air purifier? Each air purifier has its own performance
and technical characteristics. Air purifiers are extremely useful for people with respiratory diseases
such as asthma or allergies and also for people who want to fight against pollution or bad odors.
I invite you to consult the many opinions on air purifiers. There are now high performance air purifiers
perfectly suited for size, performance and budget for homes and small spaces. Air purifier efficiency
depends on certain criteria.
Obviously, the level of effectiveness of the purifier and its speed of treatment depend on the state of
pollution of the air and its dimensions. This is to be taken into account in the choice of the device and
its use. Air purifiers will help you breath clean air, year round.
Initially, air purifiers were found only in industries to filter and remove toxic residues. If the quality of
the air is not excellent, the body must fight to eliminate this pollution and the most fragile people often
develop respiratory diseases (allergies, asthma, cancers, etc.) whose source is certainly partly due to
this pollution (although other factors may come into play).
According to the WHO, formaldehyde (the best known reason for indoor pollution) is present in all
homes of the world at levels of concentration harmful to health. The WHO also indicates that
naphthalene, benzene, nitrogen dioxide, formaldehyde, carbon monoxide, trichlorethylene, radon,
tetrachlorethylene and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are present in many homes. Pollution that is
biological in nature is caused by bacteria, molds, viruses, pollen, etc.
Pollution that is biological in nature is frequently made worse because of humidity, heat, poor
housekeeping and hot water and air conditioning installations. These issues promote the proliferation
of biological agents, which increases the risk of diffusion in the environment. This is frequently the
case for indoor pollution because it is particularly difficult to prevent.
Purifiers promise to filter most of these indoor pollutants. Providers of air purifiers believe that their
mission is to provide relief, because air pollution affects

By the 1960s, he had managed to land several large government contracts to build extensions on the
Mecca, Medina and Al Aqsa mosques. He became a highly influential figure in Jeddah; when the city
fell on hard financial times, Mohammed used his wealth to pay all civil servants wages for the entire
kingdom for a six month period. As a result, Mohammed bin Laden became well respected in his
community. As a father, he was very strict, insisting that all his children live under one roof and
observe a rigid religious and moral code. He dealt with his children, especially his sons, as if they
were adults, and demanded they become confident and self sufficient at an early age. Osama, however,
barely came to know his father before his parents divorced. After his family split, Osama s mother
took him to live with her new husband, Muhammad al Attas. The couple had four children together,
and Osama spent most of his childhood living with his step siblings, and attending Al Thagher Model

In this paper we can know about the exploits of Wi Fi Security. And also the commercial and wireless
approach to the wireless networks. The Keywords about which we discuss are War Driving, wireless
security and the security protocols of 802.11. In the rapid development world Wi Fi technology is the
important invention to make people think on it and invent similar models. And they invented similar

The other standards which are used in mobile phones are 1st generation, 2nd generation, 3rd
generation, 4th generation, and LTE. The latest upcoming technology is the 5th generation. We can
use the Wi Fi in many devices like personal laptops, smartphones, computers etc. To obtain a wireless
network computer or any equipment should have wireless network interface controller. These signals
are transferred through a single radio frequency channel. By using multiple overlapping access points
the wireless signals can the transferred to many kilometers. While coming to the security the Wi Fi has
a much less security than wired networks. From the latest technology we have many protocols to get a
secured network. Wi Fi can be used in various modes such as home group, public areas and also in
business group. To access the Wi Fi in various forms we use routers such as digital subscriber router,
cable modem with the help of Wi Fi access point. This technology became such an important
invention for all over the world.
Various Wi Fi access points in the world and there types:

Essay on House of Sand and Fog
I read House of Sand and Fog by Andre Dubus III. This story is one of classic tragedy which also
contains a nearly unbearable amount of suspense. It tells a story of the conflict between people of
different races who have an inability to understand each other. They each want possession of a small
house in the California hills but for very different reasons.
On one side, there is Kathy Nicolo and Sheriff Lester Burdon who want the house from which Kathy
was evicted. It previously belonged to Kathy s father and she is reluctant to relinquish possession of it.
Then there is the Behranis, a Persian family who was forced to flee to America in fear of their lives.
They want the house because it symbolizes their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is a genuinely kind person, but is very arrogant and bull headed sometimes. Mr. Behrani is a
former colonel in the Imperial Air Force of Iran. Behrani served Shahanshah Reza Pahlavi faithfully
and effectively until the Shah s overthrow in 1979, which also destroyed the privilege, power, wealth,
and position of people like Colonel Behrani. He is very wise but has a quick temper that he usually
controls. Mrs. Behrani is a kind woman but not very smart and cannot speak English very well. Esmail
is a very kindhearted person who wants to help Kathy even though it conflicts with his family being
able to keep the house.
This book combines characteristics of a suspense thriller with those of a tragedy and is a very
interesting book to read. I liked the detail that the author went into about the psychological aspects of
the characters in making the decisions that they made. I thought that the characters were well
developed and I liked the detail that the author went into about the settings. A detailed setting can
really increase the intensity and realism of a situation in a book. This book contained some difficult
words that lower level readers might not understand. I would recommend that anyone looking for a
suspense/tragedy oriented book should look to this one. The beginning is a somewhat tedious read, but
that is only because the author takes so much time to develop the

Brazil´s Dictatorship and Military Regimes Essay
In our class we learned a lot about the various military regimes that occurred throughout Latin
America. However out of all the ones we discussed, Brazil s dictatorship was never mentioned. I
decided to write about it, but at the same time also compare it to the other military regimes in Latin
America. Unlike most of the other governments, Brazil s military one was not as brutal. It in no way
measured up to the brutality of the Argentinian dictatorship or the ruthlessness of the dictatorship in
Bolivia. However it was not an easy time either. Many Brazilians were exiled and many lost their lives
because of this oppressive government. To start it all off, the regime did not just occur from one day to
the next. There were years of build ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However to the militaries dismay on January 6, 1963, Joao was able to turn the government back to a
presidential democracy. However the country s economy was in terrible shape, the currency kept
dropping and he tried to stabilize it with financed aid packages but he could not get any foreign
investment in so inflation went up, which set him at odds with the people once more. However Joao
and the military s relationship was fine until the navy revolted. On March 25, 1964, around 1800s
sailors assembled in Rio de Janeiro for the improvements of housing conditions and in favor of Joao s
reforms. (Joao Goulart) The Minister of the Navy, Sílvio Mota, ordered the arrest of the sailors.
However Joao prohibited any invasion of the assembly and fired Mota as Minister of the Navy. On
March 26, the Minister of Labor, Amauri Silva, negotiated a compromise, and the sailors agreed to
leave the assembly building, but they were arrested for mutiny. In protection of the sailors in his favor,
Joao pardoned the sailors, and in turn making the military very angry at him. Then on March 30, 1964,
the day before the coup, Joao gave a speech to a gathering of sergeants, where he asked for the
military s support. Even with his appeal to the military many of those on Joao s side did not trust the
military. In case of any coup, they decided to form a pro Goulart force

Iris Patterns
Sarah Heimann
Mr. Hickey
PLS 3410 01
14 November 2017
Iris Patterns As time moves along and society becomes more technological, more techniques of
solving crime with advanced technology are practiced. Not only can we solve crime with fingerprints
and behavioral characteristics such as gait, voice, signature and odor, but we can also solve crime with
the use of iris recognition. Iris recognition is a biometric identification method of identifying
individuals based on their iris patterns. It has slowly been emerging, since 1994 into biometric
technology as an alternate means to do the same job as fingerprinting. This paper will go into quite a
bit of detail on the iris recognition system and explain the development of the iris and what the iris s
function is for the eye and answer the questions that follow: are there any changes to the iris between
birth and adulthood or even after death, how does the iris recognition system operate and what
countries, if any, are currently exercising the use of the iris recognition system and how is it working
out for them, is the iris recognition system reliable and do contacts and glasses effect the system in
any way, and finally, can iris recognition be applied to an iris after death?
First, one may be wondering what the function of the iris is in the eye. The iris is the plainly visible
colored ring shaped membrane behind the cornea made entirely of connective tissues, smooth muscle
fibers and pigments. It begins to form in the third month of gestation (development in the womb). The
pigments of the eye are made of melanin (the same pigment that gives skin its color). The amount of
pigment in the eye is what gives the eye its color. Lack of pigment gives one no color at all. These are
the pink eyes of albinisms. Very little pigment gives the eye a blue color and then in increasing
amounts of pigment give one green, hazel, and finally brown. The iris also controls the amount of
light that reaches the retina. It has an adjustable round opening in the center that is called a pupil. It is
responsible for controlling the diameter and size of that pupil. With the help of the pupil, the iris s
function is to regulate the amount of light that gets into the eye. Too much or not

The Cask Of The Amontillado
Excessive Pride God makes some men poets. Some he makes Kings, some he makers beggars.
Richard Connell makes a clear point that not all people are the same. Some people think they re better
than others. This is often seen in literature. There are several short stories that discuss the topic of
excessive pride. Many authors have conveyed the themes that excessive pride is self destructive, can
change your life, and will come back to haunt you. In the short story, The Cask of the Amontillado,
Edgar Allan Poe conveys how excessive pride is self destroying. He shows how being too proud in
something can make you lose your sanity. In the story, Montresor is planning to kill Fortunato because
of how he insulted him. The author states, And the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Connell makes it to where the excessively proud individual gets haunted by his own choices. In the
story, General Zaroff brags about his hunts and how easy it is for him. The author conveys Simply
this: hunting had ceased to be what you call a sporting proposition . It had become too easy. I always
got my quarry. Always. There is no greater bore than perfection(Connell 25). Zaroff states that hunting
has become too easy because he is so perfect at it. He brags about how great of a hunter he is and that
the quarry stands no chance against him. Furthermore, the author shows how sickeningly proud Zaroff
really is. The author illustrates, The weak of the world were put here to give the strong pleasure. I am
strong. I hunt the scum of the Earth sailors from tramp ships lascars, blacks, Chinese, whites, Mongols
a thoroughbred horse or hound is worth more than a score of them ( Connell 27). Zaroff is so
excessively proud in his hunting and who he is that he thinks he s doing the world a favor by taking
out other people. He kills the scum of the Earth because they are weak and he is strong . He is proud
in the fact that he can kill these people. There was many different ways that Connell showed excessive
pride throughout the story but Zaroff showed most and later died because of

  • 2. The Tragedy Of The Titanic Disaster On the night of April 14, 1912 the world was struck with disaster as the RMS Titanic collided with an iceberg and sunk into the sea. Only 31.6% survived the disaster. In order to understand what factors lead to the highest chances of survival, this project uses a Titanic passenger database and decision trees in order to classify survivors into two groups, survived and perished. Then using this information, rank the most important factors regarding the likelihood of survival. From our experiments we found that the most important factor in surviving the Titanic disaster was title and that a decision tree that created around that variable as its highest level decision had a correct classification rate of 79.425% 1 Introduction On the night ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, the database also provides the class that the passenger was in, their ticket number, their cabin number, ticket price, and where they embarked. From this information, we hope to understand what factors played and role in survival and which were the most important. The rest of this paper proceeds as follows: In section 2, this paper discusses the creation of a decision tree. Section 3 describes to experimentation on the Titanic dataset. Section 4 gives the results of the comparison and the conclusions from the project. 2 Creating a Decision Tree We decided that the best to answer these questions would be to create a decision tree in order to classify which passengers into two categories survived and perished. By creating a decision tree that was able to classify most of the passengers statuses correctly, we know which of the factors were the most important due to the fact that the most important factors would be located at the top of the tree. The factors located on lower levels of the tree are less important, due to the fact that they are the deciding factor for survival for a smaller group of people. To create a decision tree, we begin by cleaning the data that we receive from the database. First, we remove the names of the passengers, due to the fact that we can more easily refer to them by their passenger ids. We also remove the information connected to cabin number, due ... Analysis of Mozart s K. 515 Mvt. 1 Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Quintet No. 3 in C major, K. 515 Andrew McGuire Dr. Burkart MUSHIS 200 11/19/2012 Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a prodigy of his time, and arguable the greatest of all time. This paper will discuss an analysis of his third string quintet in C major, K. 515. Through this piece in Sonata Form we will dissect the exposition, the development, the recapitulation, and the coda; along with an analysis of the quintet we will briefly discuss parts of Mozart s life, as well as look at the background of the Viola Quintet No. 3 in C Major, K. 515. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born into a musical family after his sister Nannerl, by his father and mother Leopold and Anna Maria. His beginnings would originate in Salzburg, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As with codas we find our final theme in the piece the part proceeding the measure of rest (see Figure 5). Delving deeper into the coda we find theme two reoccurring in the tonic key, this time not segregated by instrument parts. For the first time in the movement we see the two viola parts obviously playing what is the theme (see Figure 6), right before we see the second viola briefly mingle with the cello. Figure [ 6 ] After the brief return of theme two between the cello and violas we end happily on the tonic of the piece. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this piece. Not only this piece but also this assignment. It is one thing to sit in class and read about and take notes over sonata allegro form. It is completely another to be expected to dive deeper into a piece and try to figure out its inner most workings. As a violist I also appreciate the fact that Mozart went against the normality of the cello quintet and wrote a viola quintet. The fact he was willing to go against what was expected of him by society makes me respect him as a composer even more. After a glimpse into the life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, we have discussed his Quintet No. 3 in C major. Discussed its themes and their placement, as well as briefly the variations of these themes. We also saw a brief glimpse into history around the time that the K. 515 and what could be considered ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Essay about Campaign Finance Reform Campaign finance reform has a broad history in America. In particular, campaign finance has developed extensively in the past forty years, as the courts have attempted to create federal elections that best sustain the ideals of a representative democracy. In the most recent Supreme Court decision concerning campaign finance, Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, the Court essentially decided to treat corporations like individuals by allowing corporations to spend money on federal elections through unlimited independent expenditures. In order to understand how the Supreme Court justified this decision, however, the history of campaign finance in regards to individuals must be examined. At the crux of these campaign finance laws ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, these laws are particularly important because they deal with discussion of public issues and debate on the qualifications of candidates. This sort of speech allows citizens to make an informed decision about which candidate they will elect. This is crucial to the operation of the government, for those who are elected will shape the nation in a profound way. As legal scholar Alexander Meiklejohn argued when explaining the necessity of protecting political speech, self governance can only exist insofar as the voters acquire the intelligence, integrity, sensitivity, and generous devotion to the general welfare that, in theory, casting a ballot is assumed to express. For these reasons, the ability to spend money on elections is essential to the First Amendment, as it allows for the communication of ideas and opinions that are crucial to democracy. The need to protect this first amendment right, however, is balanced against the need to avoid corruption in federal elections. The Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 (FECA) attempted to revamp the structure of campaign finance, particularly dealing with eliminate corrupt uses of campaign contributions. Many cell membranes behave as semi permeable membranes, and osmosis is a vital mechanism in the transport of fluids in living organisms, for example, in the transport of water from the soil to the roots in plants. In order to make it as much of a fair test as possible, we added the potato chips very quickly, to make sure one chip didn t have a longer amount of time in the solution than another. We then left each one for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, we emptied each test tube, leaving only the potato chips inside. Before we measured and weighed each chip, we dabbed them with paper towel. • 17. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Multilevel Inverters 3.1 CLASSIFICATION OF MODULATION STRATEGIES The modulation methods used in multilevel inverters can be classified according to the switching frequency was discussed in Rodriguez et al (2002), Celanovic and Boroyevic (2001) and Rodriguez et al (2001). Modulation techniques that work with high switching frequencies have many commutations for the power semiconductors in a cycle of the fundamental output voltage. Multilevel inverters generate sinusoidal voltages from discrete voltage levels, and Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) strategies accomplish this task of generating sinusoids of variable voltages and frequencies. Several techniques for the implementation of PWM for multilevel inverters have been developed. The well known high switching ... This result has been obtained for the multi cell inverter in a seven level configuration, which uses three series connected cells in each phase. The smallest distortion is obtained when the carriers are shifted by an angle of 120°. A very common practice in industrial applications for the multilevel inverter is the injection of a third harmonic in each cell to increase the output voltage was discussed in Hammond (1997) and Hill and Harbourt (1999). Another advantageous feature of multilevel SPWM is that the effective switching frequency of the load voltage is much higher than the switching frequency of each cell, as determined by its carrier signal. This property allows a reduction in the switching frequency of each cell, thus reducing the switching losses. The advantage of the method is that it is very simple. But it has two disadvantages. The first method cannot completely eliminate the low order harmonics. Therefore the low order harmonics cause loss and high filter requirements. The second method is the high switching frequency which causes high switching loss and low efficiency Fig.3.3.1 Fig. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was built in 1940 41 for the administrative headquarters of the South Australian Brewing Company. In 1956, extensions were added to the original building. The Georgian style of the building, was designed by the architect F Kenneth Milne, who chose clay brick masonry as the material for the structure (Adelaide City Heritage 2015). Through the years, the building has been exposed to an earthquake in 1954 (Sinadinovski, Greenhalgh Love 2006), wind loads, humidity, temperature variations, internal loads and other forces. All these factors have an impact on the structure and it has led the building to several small structural damages. The aim of this paper is to research and study the structural behavior of clay brick masonry and analyse the damages on the UniSA Law building. • 21. The Birth Of The Periodic Table In September 1860 the birth of the Periodic table began. A group of the world s best chemists assembled in Germany to discuss the issues of atomic mass. At this meeting an Italian chemist, Stanislao Cannizzaro, introduced the right way to accurately measure the relative mass of an atom. After the new method was introduced chemists started to recognize similarities in the properties of various elements and placed them into families. In this earlier stages of the periodic table there were four main chemists; Dobereiner, Newlands, Lothar Meyer, and Dmitri Mendeleev that played a substantial role in the development of the periodic table. Dobereiner started with a few family groups each containing three elements. Newlands put the elements of those families in repeating groups called octaves. Meyer noted additional repeating properties. Mendeleev put it all together into what has become the periodic table of the elements. The German chemist, named Dobereiner, in 1829 noted some of the first elemental similarities. His observations began with bromine, which had just been discovered. He noticed that the properties of bromine were similar to chlorine and iodine. Not only were they related but also various properties of bromine, including the atomic weight, fell midway between the properties of chlorine and iodine, but also there was a pattern within the group of regularly increasing atomic weights. As he did his research he noticed a couple other groups of elements with patterns ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Day in and day out people around the world pass away before they can even have the chance to live. Usually the waiting list exceeds the amount of organs available. Nevertheless, the sales of human organs should be legalized in the hopes that people have a chance to live. Organ sale for example, allowing or encouraging consenting adults to become living kidney donors in return for money has been proposed as a possible solution to the seemingly chronic shortage of organs for transplantation. Many people however regard this idea as abhorrent and argue both that the practice would be unethical and that it should be banned. This entry outlines some of the different possible kinds of organ sale, briefly states the case in favor, and then examines the main arguments against. The expression organ sale covers a wide range of different practices. People most readily associate it with the case in which one individual (who needs or wants money) sells his or her kidney to another (who needs a kidney). But there are other possibilities too. One (in countries where the prior consent of the deceased is required for cadaveric organ donation) is to pay people living now for rights over their body after death. Another example that shows the behavior of a monk driver is catching up with old friends or relatives. I got stuck in a terrible traffic, and I decided to call my grandmother. We performed experiment to find out either recombinant conglutinin increased the cell membrane permeability of the M. bovis BCG and as a result growth inhibited which is shown in figure 4.3. Heat treated M. bovis BCG used as a positive control. While heat treated M. bovis BCG were stained with propidium iodide, they absorb PI stained due to increased cell membrane permeability achieved with heating. It has been confirmed that M. bovis BCG coated with conglutinin does not kill mycobacteria by increasing cell membrane permeability as those bacteria does not shown the propidium iodide absorbance. From this experiment we observed that the direct effect of conglutinin is bacteriostatic rather then bactericidal, as no bacterial cell lysis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 38. Air Purifiers Advantages Air Purifiers and Their Benefits. You may wonder, How do I choose the right air purifier? Each air purifier has its own performance and technical characteristics. Air purifiers are extremely useful for people with respiratory diseases such as asthma or allergies and also for people who want to fight against pollution or bad odors. I invite you to consult the many opinions on air purifiers. There are now high performance air purifiers perfectly suited for size, performance and budget for homes and small spaces. Air purifier efficiency depends on certain criteria. Obviously, the level of effectiveness of the purifier and its speed of treatment depend on the state of pollution of the air and its dimensions. This is to be taken into account in the choice of the device and its use. Air purifiers will help you breath clean air, year round. Initially, air purifiers were found only in industries to filter and remove toxic residues. If the quality of the air is not excellent, the body must fight to eliminate this pollution and the most fragile people often develop respiratory diseases (allergies, asthma, cancers, etc.) whose source is certainly partly due to this pollution (although other factors may come into play). According to the WHO, formaldehyde (the best known reason for indoor pollution) is present in all homes of the world at levels of concentration harmful to health. The WHO also indicates that naphthalene, benzene, nitrogen dioxide, formaldehyde, carbon monoxide, trichlorethylene, radon, tetrachlorethylene and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are present in many homes. Pollution that is biological in nature is caused by bacteria, molds, viruses, pollen, etc. Pollution that is biological in nature is frequently made worse because of humidity, heat, poor housekeeping and hot water and air conditioning installations. These issues promote the proliferation of biological agents, which increases the risk of diffusion in the environment. This is frequently the case for indoor pollution because it is particularly difficult to prevent. Purifiers promise to filter most of these indoor pollutants. Providers of air purifiers believe that their mission is to provide relief, because air pollution affects ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Osama Bin Laden Characteristics Throughout the world there have been many great leaders. Often leaders are made through the oppression they have gone through or for the common goal of his/her beliefs and the common good of the country. Leaders do not necessarily have to be good , rather they have to have certain characteristics that set them apart from the rest of the crowd. These certain characteristics may help these leaders gain support for their common belief or common goal. It does not matter if the leader is fighting for or against a belief, if they have a certain way to approach there followers. They can be great leaders. • 41. Essay on House of Sand and Fog I read House of Sand and Fog by Andre Dubus III. This story is one of classic tragedy which also contains a nearly unbearable amount of suspense. It tells a story of the conflict between people of different races who have an inability to understand each other. They each want possession of a small house in the California hills but for very different reasons. On one side, there is Kathy Nicolo and Sheriff Lester Burdon who want the house from which Kathy was evicted. Mr. Behrani is a former colonel in the Imperial Air Force of Iran. Behrani served Shahanshah Reza Pahlavi faithfully and effectively until the Shah s overthrow in 1979, which also destroyed the privilege, power, wealth, and position of people like Colonel Behrani. He is very wise but has a quick temper that he usually controls. Mrs. Behrani is a kind woman but not very smart and cannot speak English very well. Esmail is a very kindhearted person who wants to help Kathy even though it conflicts with his family being able to keep the house. This book combines characteristics of a suspense thriller with those of a tragedy and is a very interesting book to read. I liked the detail that the author went into about the psychological aspects of the characters in making the decisions that they made. I thought that the characters were well developed and I liked the detail that the author went into about the settings. A detailed setting can really increase the intensity and realism of a situation in a book. This book contained some difficult words that lower level readers might not understand. I would recommend that anyone looking for a suspense/tragedy oriented book should look to this one. The beginning is a somewhat tedious read, but that is only because the author takes so much time to develop the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Brazil´s Dictatorship and Military Regimes Essay In our class we learned a lot about the various military regimes that occurred throughout Latin America. However out of all the ones we discussed, Brazil s dictatorship was never mentioned. I decided to write about it, but at the same time also compare it to the other military regimes in Latin America. Unlike most of the other governments, Brazil s military one was not as brutal. It in no way measured up to the brutality of the Argentinian dictatorship or the ruthlessness of the dictatorship in Bolivia. However it was not an easy time either. Many Brazilians were exiled and many lost their lives because of this oppressive government. To start it all off, the regime did not just occur from one day to the next. There were years of build ... However the country s economy was in terrible shape, the currency kept dropping and he tried to stabilize it with financed aid packages but he could not get any foreign investment in so inflation went up, which set him at odds with the people once more. However Joao and the military s relationship was fine until the navy revolted. On March 25, 1964, around 1800s sailors assembled in Rio de Janeiro for the improvements of housing conditions and in favor of Joao s reforms. (Joao Goulart) The Minister of the Navy, Sílvio Mota, ordered the arrest of the sailors. However Joao prohibited any invasion of the assembly and fired Mota as Minister of the Navy. On March 26, the Minister of Labor, Amauri Silva, negotiated a compromise, and the sailors agreed to leave the assembly building, but they were arrested for mutiny. In protection of the sailors in his favor, Joao pardoned the sailors, and in turn making the military very angry at him. Then on March 30, 1964, the day before the coup, Joao gave a speech to a gathering of sergeants, where he asked for the military s support. Even with his appeal to the military many of those on Joao s side did not trust the military. In case of any coup, they decided to form a pro Goulart force ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Iris Patterns Sarah Heimann Mr. Hickey PLS 3410 01 14 November 2017 Iris Patterns As time moves along and society becomes more technological, more techniques of solving crime with advanced technology are practiced. Not only can we solve crime with fingerprints and behavioral characteristics such as gait, voice, signature and odor, but we can also solve crime with the use of iris recognition. Iris recognition is a biometric identification method of identifying individuals based on their iris patterns. It has slowly been emerging, since 1994 into biometric technology as an alternate means to do the same job as fingerprinting. This paper will go into quite a bit of detail on the iris recognition system and explain the development of the iris and what the iris s function is for the eye and answer the questions that follow: are there any changes to the iris between birth and adulthood or even after death, how does the iris recognition system operate and what countries, if any, are currently exercising the use of the iris recognition system and how is it working out for them, is the iris recognition system reliable and do contacts and glasses effect the system in any way, and finally, can iris recognition be applied to an iris after death? First, one may be wondering what the function of the iris is in the eye. The iris is the plainly visible colored ring shaped membrane behind the cornea made entirely of connective tissues, smooth muscle fibers and pigments. It begins to form in the third month of gestation (development in the womb). The pigments of the eye are made of melanin (the same pigment that gives skin its color). The amount of pigment in the eye is what gives the eye its color. Lack of pigment gives one no color at all. These are the pink eyes of albinisms. Very little pigment gives the eye a blue color and then in increasing amounts of pigment give one green, hazel, and finally brown. The iris also controls the amount of light that reaches the retina. It has an adjustable round opening in the center that is called a pupil. It is responsible for controlling the diameter and size of that pupil. With the help of the pupil, the iris s function is to regulate the amount of light that gets into the eye. Too much or not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some people think they re better than others. This is often seen in literature. There are several short stories that discuss the topic of excessive pride. Many authors have conveyed the themes that excessive pride is self destructive, can change your life, and will come back to haunt you. In the short story, The Cask of the Amontillado, Edgar Allan Poe conveys how excessive pride is self destroying. He shows how being too proud in something can make you lose your sanity.
