Positive Aspects Of Voluntourism
Vacationers choosing to spend their limited holiday time and vacation budget journeying across the
world to perform volunteer service are a very recent concept. Over the past 15 years, it has grown with
such momentum that both non profit organizations and for profit advisory services and tour operators
are scrambling to match many different agendas. I believe voluntourism is a great way to make you
feel good, and make others happy. For the person who chooses to do this, it is a vacation length
commitment of time, personal energy, possibly a special skill, and money. Motivation of volunteer
vacationers is rarely to accumulate career building credentials or academic credits and kudos. In fact,
many voluntourists deliberately select a project about which they are unapologetically without skill so
they can learn something new. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though some advocates would prefer to ignore the tourism part of the word, it is key to the definition
because it helps to define the scope and the expectations of what is offered and what is received. With
rare exception, voluntourists pay their own expenses including a built in contribution to the project for
which they sign up. If the experience is positive, they also tend to donate more to the project once they
have made a connection and sometimes even raise funds for it once they get back

Vapor Pressure Lab Report
Part A: Vapor Pressure of a Pure Liquid
For experiment 2, I worked with Amiel Angelo.
First, I began by calibrating the LabQuest2, while Amiel set up the glassware. Basically, I connected
my email to the LabQuest2 and proceeded by plugging in the temperature probe to CH:1 and the
pressure sensor into CH:2. Then, I went to the Screen shot 2014 01 15 at 10 page, where I changed the
x axis to Temperature and unselected CH1 Temperature from graph 2. Once that was completed, I
began by going to the Screen shot 2014 01 14 at 6 page, and changing the Mode to Selected Events . I
then changed the units of the pressure to mmHg by tapping on the CH2:Pressure and selecting Change
Units . Once that was done, I calibrated the pressure by tapping ... Show more content on

Then, I used the syringe to obtain approximately 3.0 mL of the Ethanol and followed up by placing the
syringe into the two way valve.
Before adding the ethanol into the Erlenmeyer Flask, I first recorded the pressure within the flask
without the presence of the ethanol. After that, I began by recording the temperature within the room.
Once that was done, I recorded these values into my ELN.
Once that was completed, I began by injecting the Ethanol into the flask by opening the 2 way valve
until it was vertical. Once the Ethanol was added into the flask, we immediately closed the 2 way
valve until it was horizontal. Once the valve was closed, we removed the syringed carefully from the 2
way valve, as removing the syringed without care may potentially result in gas leaks.
Now that the syringed was removed, we began our data collection by pressing Screen shot 2014 01 14
at 6in the Screen shot 2014 01 15 at 10 page. Once the pressure and temperature stabilized, we
selected keep and recorded our data in our ELN table. Once the data was collected, we calculated the

Tv Primary Sources
The ITV is a British broadcasting company that Creates and distributes its own content to the public.
The ITV was founded on the 22nd of September 1955. The ITV can be considered commercial
television this is because ITV get funding through advertising. The ITV was set up to compete with
the BBC after (1954 television act).
This act sparked the idea for the ITV or The Independent Television Authority. This is because the
creators of the ITV wanted to create an alternative option of broadcasting for the general public and
wanted a change from the BBC owning multiple Tv channels and controlling a lot of the media. So
They created the ITV to give viewers a different option to the BBC.
Originally governed by The Independent Broadcasting Authority now known as Ofcom. The ITV is
governed by Ofcom with a ten year public service broadcasting licence. Ofcom regulates Tv, radio and
On Demand, plus many other services. This is to protect the public from harmful or offensive content.
Ofcom uses a number of acts from parliament, acts like the communication act 2003. The ITV is also
vertically integrated because like the BBC the ITV produces its own content a distributes it to the

Correlation Between Wood And Aluminum Surfaces And Their...
This experiment examined the relation between wood and aluminum surfaces and their friction. The
coefficient of static and kinetic friction can be derived from the experiments with the use of a
horizontal Atwood s machine and a Super Pulley. The static friction was tested by setting up an
equilibrium with the hanging mass and the frictional force. Three tests were conducted with increasing
additional mass on the friction block. An unbalanced force was required to test for the coefficient of
kinetic friction. This is possible through solving for the acceleration of the unbalanced force. The total
mass of the system is constant through all four of the tests, but different masses were added to the
hanging mass so that the acceleration would have a variety of different accelerations to accurately
solve for the kinetic friction. As a result, our coefficient of static and kinetic friction are μs = 0.26 ±
0.02 and μk = 0.30 ± 0.01 respectively.
Introduction
According to Collin College, the coefficient of static and kinetic friction are μs = 0.30 and μk = 0.20
respectively. However, the lab material has worn out over time, so their coefficient of frictions may be
different from the regular coefficient of friction. The purpose of this experiment is to determine the
coefficient of kinetic and static friction between aluminum and wood in the lab. These were
determined with the use of a horizontal Atwood s machine
The test conducted on a horizontal Atwood s machine was accomplished by

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day
Introduction The Sonnet 18 Shall I compare thee to a summer s day is around the most admired and
prominent of the 154 poems of William Shakespeare . Most researchers concur that the true recipient
of the lyric, the mate of pleasant toward oneself, whom the artist is composing, is a man, however the
sonnet is generally used to portray a lady. In the piece, the pleasant toward oneself contrasts his
adoration with a June through August, and contends that his affection is superior to summer (Kennedy
Gioia). He additionally states that your beau will live everlastingly through the expressions of the
lyric. Researchers have discovered parallels between this poem and sonnets Tristia and Amores of
Ovid . A few interpretations have uncovered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Girls Are Considered Outcasts
Three hundred girls are considered outcasts every year. They re shipped off into an unknown area to
most people. The girls are only eleven and they re taken away from their families. Their families are
the ones that want them gone. I boarded the cruise ship and I walked in the suite. There were a huge
group of boys walking around. The cruise ship is very warm and it s very cozy. The boarding event
takes about three hours. The girls have to line up and they have to get a baggage check. I can t wait to
go on this journey. I just feel unloved by my parents. The boys are there to help the girls.
They re outcasts too, but they re much older than the girls. They re either sixteen or seventeen. There s
a front desk and the workers used their computers. The workers are boys and they make sure the girls
are ok. It s been two hours since the boarding event started. I reached my room and it was a luxury
suite. I shared the room with another girl. Her name is Bailey Holland. Her dad is rich and I heard she
is very smart. Bailey greeted me and I smiled.
Hi, Bailey. I said. Hi, Sarina. Bailey said. You know my name? I said. Of course, the workers told me
you would be my roommate. They showed me your picture. You are so pretty. Bailey said. Thank you.

Examples Of Indecision In Hamlet
Indecision, by dictionary definition is simply the inability to make decisions quickly. However,
indecision itself is not actually such an intelligible term, but rather an overly complex one that dips
into the intricate nature of the human mindset. This becomes even more accurate when the act of
indecisiveness is paired with compelling circumstances. Oftentimes human beings are required to act
irrationally because their circumstances force them to do so. Our opinions and actions seem
justifiable, yet they may also come across as deceitful and immoral. The overriding internal conflict of
choosing between personal desire and what is morally correct becomes the central aspect of many
human trials. William Shakespeare, the writer of many well known ... Show more content on

Ophelia is Hamlet s love interest throughout the entire play. However, in an attempt to be strategic,
Hamlet feigns insanity in order to be deceiving and in turn breaks Ophelia s heart. His sudden
disinterest towards her coupled with her father Polonius and brother Laertes commands to stay away
from Hamlet composes a dire internal conflict within Ophelia s mind. She is torn between her undying
love for Hamlet versus her desire to be an obedient daughter and sister. In addition, Hamlet
unintentionally murders Polonius rather than Claudius, which also adds to Ophelia s insanity. To make
matter worse, Ophelia has no mother figure within her life. So taken all together, she is stuck in a
constant battle within herself with nobody who is there for her. I hope all will be well. We must be
patient/ but I cannot choose but weep/ to think they would lay him/ i th cold ground (Hamlet v, iv).
This quote from Ophelia demonstrates her deep sorrow towards her father s death, as well as the start
of her path to insanity. Her lack of a maternal figure leaves her with nobody to discuss her feelings
and troubles with. Because of this constant battle within her life, Ophelia finds herself in a
confrontation with her emotions, which ends in her official decision of suicide. Which one could argue
makes her decisive in the end which may be true, but her internal struggle leading to her choice of
suicide is what makes her a great example of a character struggling with uncertainty during times of

Essay about The Chinese Cultural Revolution
The Chinese Cultural Revolution The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, beginning as a campaign
targeted at removing Chairman Mao Zedong s political opponents, was a time when practically every
aspect of Chinese society was in pandemonium. From 1966 through 1969, Mao encouraged
revolutionary committees, including the red guards, to take power from the Chinese Communist party
authorities of the state. The Red Guards, the majority being young adults, rose up against their
teachers, parents, and neighbors. Following Mao and his ideas, The Red Guard s main goal was to
eliminate all remnants of the old culture in China. They were the frontline implementers who

The role of Red Guard was mainly to attack the ?four olds? of society, as well as purging all bourgeois
elements within the government. The following excerpt, from an interview between an ex red guard
father and his daughter, explains what the four olds were: ?We were told to destroy four types of
things: 1 ~ anything of the old feudal culture (relics, statues, monuments); 2 ~ anything connected to
capitalism; 3 ~ anything related to the development of the mind (libraries, old university buildings, art,
classical musical instruments); 4 ~ traditional Confucian customs, symbols, philosophy and
education.? (Interview with Mr. Nie) The Red Guards used the four olds as a basic guideline on what
to attack and not to attack. Another standard, which all revolutionary efforts were to be judged by, was
from Mao?s ideas found in his little red book of quotations. The little red book was a collection of
quotations taken from Mao?s past speeches and publications. The Red Guards? actions were a
reflection of Mao?s policy of revamping passion, and destroying counter revolutionary symbols. ?
They named and renamed street signs and buildings, and ransacked museums and destroyed old books
and works of art. Many famous buildings like temples and shrines and heritages were destroyed. 4,922
out of a total 6,843 were destroyed.?

The Adoption Of Islamic Business Practices
The adoption of Islamic business practices by organizations: Why, How and what are the performance
outcomes
Organizations in most industries face increased competitive pressures from other organizations that
aim to satisfy customer demands. One of the most significant issues that face organizations today is
International competition in rapidly changing environment (Porter, 1986). Competition creates
diverse, new capabilities into an industry and more dynamic and uncertain competitive environment.
In industry the speed of technological developments might have changes due to increased competition
(Wiersema and Bowen, 2008). In most global industry the fast development of products and process
innovations has become very important in order to achieve competitive advantage (Bettis and Hitt,
1995). The expectations of customers are increasing, and to meet the needs of the customer,
organizations are competing with each other. They are looking for ways they can get more profits and
market share. There are many factors to this increased competition, as technology and globalization
have shortened distances and consumers are now aware of more products and services (Frésard and
Valta, 2012). The world is changing rapidly and ways of doing business have also changed.
Globalization and technology have changed the way corporations do work and how they treat their
customers and employees. Globalization has also increased competition. Now standards have
changed, and organizations are

Nfl Influence On Traditional Sports Culture
Traditionally, sports culture has always been thought of as a male arena, a strong, masculine world
ruled by men, pumped up with violence. The National Football League (NFL) and its players embody
this resemblance. Despite the no politics rule, the NFL use flyovers of military aircraft before games,
promoting the American military. Military is also common at MLB games. For example, President
George W. Bush threw out the first pitch while Zirin attended the Washington Nationals game. This
proves that these kinds of displays are political. According to Zirin, this kinds of acts are unnoticed
because of how ideology functions: it naturalizes a set of ideas that deflect attention away from other
realities. In this case, it establishes militaristic

A High-Voltage Compliant Microelectrode Array Driver for...
2.5
High voltage switching
A fundamental component of this microelectrode driver is a high voltage switch and it is necessary to
characterize the implemented switch for different stimulation current levels. An analog CMOS switch
can be an n type or p type MOSFET which is operated either in cut off (OFF state) or ohmic region
(ON state). The switch can be characterized by a fixed linear transconductance, gds , which is strongly
signal dependent and expressed according to Eq. 8 [37] where, μn and μp are electron and hole
mobility respectively in two types of transistors, Cox is the gate oxide capacitance, W n and W p are
the dimensions of transistors, VDD is the power supply
L
L voltage, and Vin is the input signal. The bulk of NMOS and PMOS transistors are connected to the
highest potential, VDD and the lowest potential, VSS respectively. The limitations are that the
maximum voltage an NMOS and the minimum voltage a PMOS can pass are [VDD − Vthn ] and
|Vthp | respectively.
This drawback can be overcome using CMOS transmission gate (TG) which exhibits lower overall
transconductance. Another advantage of using TG based switch is that it passes good 1 (or logic level
high) and good 0 (logic level low) without any threshold voltage drop, or in other words, TG gate
switch allows rail to rail swings. The transconductance of TG gate switch is expressed by the
following equation: The on resistance RsON of the switch is the reciprocal of its transconductance,
gdsON and given by

My Experience At Tuskegee University
My experience began as early as college, when I used to volunteer with school going children in
orphanages, and would advise them on the social problems they faced in school. That is when I
decided that being a school counselor was the perfect job for me. Having started at an early age, I find
that my expertise does in fact lie in helping students deal with social pressure, and helping them cope
with the stress and frustration it brings. I have also been successfully able to help students improve
their self esteem by making them focus on past successes, so that they may be able to garner the
strength for future aspirations. I don t think age has any role to play when it comes to warming up to
students. As long as they can find a mentor, a guide and trust in someone, they are likely to open up to
them.
As I started my college career at Tuskegee University, where I double majored in psychology and
English. I was passionate about creating social awareness and helping people, but I was unsure what
career I was interested in after graduation. I thought about attending graduate school for Counseling
Psychology, but I just was not sure about it. I spoke to a professor in the Counselor Education program
at Georgia State University and discussed my interests with her. She suggested I look for a program
accredited by Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP)

Berger Family Encounters In Awake And Sing
The struggle the Berger family encounters in Awake and Sing is clearly evident by the setting Clifford
Odets sets up for his audience. Throughout the opening pages of the play, particularly in this excerpt,
the dialogue is chalk full with literary elements of mood, tone, and imagery. These three elements each
complement each other as they all provide the play with a dark, depressing, and somber overtone. Not
only does Odets provide the reader with textual and linguistic setting elements, but the physical setting
portrays a gloomy atmosphere as well. The play takes place in an apartment in the Bronx, New York
City during the Great Depression. Already, the time period of the play, in addition to the apartment
being in the poverty stricken neighborhood of the Bronx gives context to how hard it is for the Berger

and becomes less optimistic when he questions life by saying, What s it for? (Odets, 42). The audience
now sees a man struggling with his identity and purpose. Ralph s words set a strong, dark, and
continuous tone for the play that serves to encompass his entire family. Ralph continues to focus on
his working career and how he still cannot seem to provide the little things in life that he desires. The
reader is confronted with imagery that explains the reality of the Berger s situation through the eyes of

It s distinct that nonverbal communication, interpersonal conflict, and deceptive communication are
clear concepts of communication that are depicted in this film. By observing these types of
communication during the film, I ve learned how to pay more attention to nonverbal communication
like facial expressions that do not match the verbal message someone is conveying. I ve noticed the
way groups learn how to work together and come to a good compromise and accommodate with one
another to accomplish a common goal. In addition to these, attempting to spot deception was a little
more difficult to do with this film starting out. Deception is very accurately portrayed in Pitch Perfect,
and by noticing these deceptive tendencies I learned how vocal tone and facial expressions could be
very deceiving to other individuals. In order to see deceptive cues, you have to notice these changes in
tone in the voice, and the expressions one s face makes when they are communicating. This movie has

1. How does Sassoon show the depression of the young soldier?
The depression of the young soldier before he commits suicide is clearly displayed in the poem.
At the start of the poem, the image of a happy, young, and perhaps rather naïve boy is placed before
us;
Simple tells us that he is innocent, perhaps rather naïve, and doesn t understand the concept of war.
Grinned at life in empty joy suggests to us that he was pleased by anything, a happy carefree young
man. He was young and had no worries because he enjoyed life and did as he pleased. He made life
seem easy and happy even when times were bad. It also given us a notion of how immature the boy
turned into a soldier and sent to war must have been.

The structure of the poem also adds to the stark change the boy has suffered throughout the war.
Sassoon uses the same structure that a children s rhyme usually has, and this is perhaps intended to
emphasize that this boy, turned into a soldier and driven to suicide, was still just a boy.
The depression of the young soldier is also shown to be shared by many; the eye catching title Suicide
in the Trenches is evidence of this fact. The word trenches further emphasizes that the depression the
young soldier feels is felt throughout all the trenches, and therefore many others in war.
The juxtaposition between the first two stanzas adds to the effect intended upon the reader by
Siegfried Sassoon. He wants us to feel the harsh reality of war; cold, unjust, harsh and depressing, and
the image of a happy young man driven to suicide by war certainly emphasizes this point. This jarring
contrast makes the boy s death a lot sadder and brings out sympathy in the reader.
2. What is Sassoon s view of the crowds which greet the soldiers on their return from the trenches?
The last stanza is very effective in displaying Sassoon s view of the crowds. Throughout this stanza a
bitter, sarcastic, sneering and rather angry tone is used;
You smug faced crowds The use of you makes the reader feel as if Sassoon is addressing the reader,
naming us all guilty of the smug faced cheering and clapping of the

Character education defines how a child should act morally and is one of the most important lessons to

The Two Main Causes Of World War One
World War one was one of the most devestating wars in the world. Over 8.5 million people died as a
result of the war. There were four major and underlying causes of the war. Those causes were
militarism, alliences, imperialism, and nationalism. Germany, Russia, Austria Hungary, the U.S,
Ottoman Empire, Britain, and France all fought in WWI. Militarism and alliences, were the two main
causes of the war.
Militarism is the first main cause of the war. Every country involved in the war had a standing army,
they were all under the impression that the war would be short. The war was ignited by the
assasination of archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria. Austria was the first to declare war. Then
Germany declared war on Russia on the side of Austria Hungary.

Co2 Expelled Lab Report
Analysis: Using the data from Table 1, calculations were performed to determine how much CO2 was
expelled. This data is listed in Table 2. According to the data in Table 2, it is confirmed that more CO2
was expelled after exercising. While exercising, more oxygen is needed in the body for energy. Since
more oxygen is inhaled, it makes sense that more CO2 is exhaled.
Discussion: The control flask was used to establish a baseline so that the other flasks could be
compared to it. A control is needed so experimenters can have something to compare their results to.
When breathing into Flask 1, CO2 was released and added to the solution in the flask. Adding CO2
into the flask made the solution become colorless. When the experimenter blew

Essay about On Emotion and Value in David Hume and Max...
On Emotion and Value in David Hume and Max Scheler
ABSTRACT: While some philosophers tend to exclude any significance of emotion for the moral life,
others place them in the center of both the moral life and the theory of value judgment. This paper
presents a confrontation of two classic positions of the second type, namely the position of Hume and
Scheler. The ultimate goal of this confrontation is metatheoretical particularly as it concerns the
analysis of the relations between the idea of emotion and the idea of value in this kind of theory of
value judgment. In conclusion, I point to some important theoretical assumptions which underlie the
positions of both thinkers despite all the other differences between them. In at least ... Show more

Hume on Passion and Value
The relation between passion and value in Hume s philosophy has been repeatedly discussed. (3) In
contrast to some contemporary writers, Hume devoted a lot of effort and space to the theory of passion
before presenting his, based on emotion moral theory, in Book III of the Treatise. (4)
However, as I believe, Hume s philosophy on the whole, contains not one, but two theories of passion.
One of them is a theory of the genesis of passions from pains and pleasures. The second theory, on the
other hand, refers to the group of passions which are after N. Kemp Smith called primary passions;
and I will call it the descriptive theory of passion. The Treatise is dominated almost exclusively by the
theory of genesis but the role of the descriptive theory in Enquiries is more important, and particularly
in those places where Hume argues against hedonism and egoism in his theory of motivation. On the
theory of genesis, passions are produced from pains and pleasures either directly or indirectly which,
as it is well known, leads to Hume s distinction between direct and indirect passions. According to the
descriptive theory, however, the situation is quite different. In their existence, the primary passions do
not depend on pleasures and pains, on the contrary, pains and pleasures are produced by them. There is
an interesting tension between these two theories in Hume s philosophy but this problem cannot be
discussed here.

IRA Bombing
The most common form of terrorism used by the paramilitaries groups was bombings, which in the
case of Irish Republican Army (IRA) was a respond to the presence of the British and British actions
in Northern Ireland. The reason why the nationalist paramilitary groups and the IRA used bombings
was because the extremist nationalists did not what the presence of the British Army in Northern
Ireland and thus resorted to bombings to get the British army withdrawn . The bombings sought to
create a climate of fear over a long period of time especially in places such as London that would not
expect nor prepare for such violence . The bombing campaign committed by the IRA was also

the UFV in 1974 and created speculation that the Royal Ulster Constabulary might have been involved

often retaliated to the shootings by bombing protestant businesses such as the attack on Donnelly s

Ohio Stepping Up Initiative Case Study
COLUMBUS A contingent from Wayne County participated in a conference in Columbus to
demonstrate its commitment to link those from the criminal justice and behavioral health fields to

Director Judy Wortham Wood of the Mental Health Recovery Board; Capt. James Richards of the
Wayne County Sheriff s Office; Michelle Owney, probation officer with the Municipal Court; and
James Green, a consumer who volunteers at NAMI/MOCA House. Wayne County was one of 23

Comparing Christian Liberty, Utopia, and The Prince Essay
Christian Liberty, Utopia, and The Prince
A Christian is a perfectly free lord of all, subject to none...A Christian is a perfectly dutiful servant to
all, subject to none. (Luther Pg. 7) These lines show what Luther is truly about. In Christian Liberty,
Luther believes in the reestablishing of God as the inner authority. In Utopia, Thomas More believes
the power should be in one group and that the rest of the common people in the society should all be
equal like a communist society. In The Prince, Machievelli believes that the power is within the
prince. I choose Christian Liberty as the best form of authority because it is the closest to being an
honest and true way of authority. Although none of the books portray ... Show more content on

Is not such a soul most obedient to God in all things by this faith? ...What more complete fulfillment is
there than obedience in all things? This obedience, however, is not rendered by works but by faith

showing that if you trust and believe in God then he will never steer you wrong but if you don t then,
what greater wickedness, what greater contempt of God is there than not believing his promise...but to
make God a liar or to doubt that he is truthful? That is to ascribe truthfulness to one s self but lying
and vanity in God?
This quote shows the dismal side of not believing in God and his supreme power and authority. If you
were to doubt him whom would you go to for salvation once he gave up on you?
Man has a two fold nature, a spiritual and a bodily one. According to the spiritual nature, which men
refer to as the soul, he is called a spiritual, inner or new man. According to the bodily nature which
men refer to as flesh, he is called a carnal, outward, or old man. (Luther page 7) We have first talked
about the spiritual aspect of a person now we are going to talk about the physical aspect.
Now let us turn to the second part, the outer man. Here we shall answer all those who, offended by the

What About Bob Movie Analysis
What About Bob is a movie about a man who is diagnosed with numerous mental disorders. Most of
his disorders a centered around disorders that are based in anxiety and fear. First disorder noted is
Agoraphobia F40.00 as listed in the 5th edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental
Disorders [DSM 5} (American Psychiatric Association [APA], 2013). He seems to have anxiety
surrounding germs and fear of diseases and becoming ill. This disorder may fit the Illness Anxiety
Disorder (IAD) F45.21 in the DSM 5 (APA, 2013). This disorder used to fit under the disorder called
hypochondriasis. Additionally, he could have Somatic Symptom Disorder (SSD) F45.1, instead of
IAD because he mentions many physical symptoms (APA, 2013). However, I would need more
information to make an actual diagnosis. The next disorder we see is a fear of elevators which leads
me to believe he may have a fear of confined spaces. This is just one of several fears he has and it
would be diagnosed as specific phobia according to the DSM 5 and corresponds to 300.29 (APA,
2013). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

that a person s ethnic identity is also a form of social identity that develops alongside the formation of
both the ingroup and outgroup mentality. Therefore, individuals who feel strongly connected to their
ethnic group are more likely to identify with and/or behave according to the social norms and
expectations of that group. For example, in studying the differences between the multicultural theory
and the social identity theory, researchers Negy, Shreve, Jensen, Uden (2003) discovered a strong
correlation between individual levels of ethnic identity and levels of ethnocentrism in both European
Americans and Latino/a Americans. However, there was little to no correlation found among those
who identify themselves as African American. Nevertheless, Phinney Ong (2007) conclude that ethnic
identity is multifaceted and research designs and methods should reflect the multidimensional nature
of ethnic identity accordingly.
In addition to evaluating ethnic identity from a variety of psychological or behavioral perspectives, the
article also discusses a number theoretical models for defining ethnic identity. As Phinney Ong (2007)

  • 2. Positive Aspects Of Voluntourism Vacationers choosing to spend their limited holiday time and vacation budget journeying across the world to perform volunteer service are a very recent concept. Over the past 15 years, it has grown with such momentum that both non profit organizations and for profit advisory services and tour operators are scrambling to match many different agendas. I believe voluntourism is a great way to make you feel good, and make others happy. For the person who chooses to do this, it is a vacation length commitment of time, personal energy, possibly a special skill, and money. Motivation of volunteer vacationers is rarely to accumulate career building credentials or academic credits and kudos. In fact, many voluntourists deliberately select a project about which they are unapologetically without skill so they can learn something new. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though some advocates would prefer to ignore the tourism part of the word, it is key to the definition because it helps to define the scope and the expectations of what is offered and what is received. With rare exception, voluntourists pay their own expenses including a built in contribution to the project for which they sign up. If the experience is positive, they also tend to donate more to the project once they have made a connection and sometimes even raise funds for it once they get back ... • 3. Vapor Pressure Lab Report Part A: Vapor Pressure of a Pure Liquid For experiment 2, I worked with Amiel Angelo. First, I began by calibrating the LabQuest2, while Amiel set up the glassware. Basically, I connected my email to the LabQuest2 and proceeded by plugging in the temperature probe to CH:1 and the pressure sensor into CH:2. Then, I went to the Screen shot 2014 01 15 at 10 page, where I changed the x axis to Temperature and unselected CH1 Temperature from graph 2. Once that was completed, I began by going to the Screen shot 2014 01 14 at 6 page, and changing the Mode to Selected Events . I then changed the units of the pressure to mmHg by tapping on the CH2:Pressure and selecting Change Units . Once that was done, I calibrated the pressure by tapping ... Before adding the ethanol into the Erlenmeyer Flask, I first recorded the pressure within the flask without the presence of the ethanol. After that, I began by recording the temperature within the room. Once that was done, I recorded these values into my ELN. Once that was completed, I began by injecting the Ethanol into the flask by opening the 2 way valve until it was vertical. Once the Ethanol was added into the flask, we immediately closed the 2 way valve until it was horizontal. Once the valve was closed, we removed the syringed carefully from the 2 way valve, as removing the syringed without care may potentially result in gas leaks. Now that the syringed was removed, we began our data collection by pressing Screen shot 2014 01 14 at 6in the Screen shot 2014 01 15 at 10 page. Once the pressure and temperature stabilized, we selected keep and recorded our data in our ELN table. The ITV can be considered commercial television this is because ITV get funding through advertising. The ITV was set up to compete with the BBC after (1954 television act). This act sparked the idea for the ITV or The Independent Television Authority. • 5. Correlation Between Wood And Aluminum Surfaces And Their... This experiment examined the relation between wood and aluminum surfaces and their friction. The coefficient of static and kinetic friction can be derived from the experiments with the use of a horizontal Atwood s machine and a Super Pulley. The static friction was tested by setting up an equilibrium with the hanging mass and the frictional force. Three tests were conducted with increasing additional mass on the friction block. An unbalanced force was required to test for the coefficient of kinetic friction. This is possible through solving for the acceleration of the unbalanced force. The total mass of the system is constant through all four of the tests, but different masses were added to the hanging mass so that the acceleration would have a variety of different accelerations to accurately solve for the kinetic friction. As a result, our coefficient of static and kinetic friction are μs = 0.26 ± 0.02 and μk = 0.30 ± 0.01 respectively. Introduction According to Collin College, the coefficient of static and kinetic friction are μs = 0.30 and μk = 0.20 respectively. However, the lab material has worn out over time, so their coefficient of frictions may be different from the regular coefficient of friction. The purpose of this experiment is to determine the coefficient of kinetic and static friction between aluminum and wood in the lab. These were determined with the use of a horizontal Atwood s machine The test conducted on a horizontal Atwood s machine was accomplished by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most researchers concur that the true recipient of the lyric, the mate of pleasant toward oneself, whom the artist is composing, is a man, however the sonnet is generally used to portray a lady. In the piece, the pleasant toward oneself contrasts his adoration with a June through August, and contends that his affection is superior to summer (Kennedy Gioia). He additionally states that your beau will live everlastingly through the expressions of the lyric. Researchers have discovered parallels between this poem and sonnets Tristia and Amores of Ovid . • 8. Examples Of Indecision In Hamlet Indecision, by dictionary definition is simply the inability to make decisions quickly. However, indecision itself is not actually such an intelligible term, but rather an overly complex one that dips into the intricate nature of the human mindset. This becomes even more accurate when the act of indecisiveness is paired with compelling circumstances. Oftentimes human beings are required to act irrationally because their circumstances force them to do so. Our opinions and actions seem justifiable, yet they may also come across as deceitful and immoral. The overriding internal conflict of choosing between personal desire and what is morally correct becomes the central aspect of many human trials. However, in an attempt to be strategic, Hamlet feigns insanity in order to be deceiving and in turn breaks Ophelia s heart. His sudden disinterest towards her coupled with her father Polonius and brother Laertes commands to stay away from Hamlet composes a dire internal conflict within Ophelia s mind. She is torn between her undying love for Hamlet versus her desire to be an obedient daughter and sister. In addition, Hamlet unintentionally murders Polonius rather than Claudius, which also adds to Ophelia s insanity. To make matter worse, Ophelia has no mother figure within her life. So taken all together, she is stuck in a constant battle within herself with nobody who is there for her. I hope all will be well. We must be patient/ but I cannot choose but weep/ to think they would lay him/ i th cold ground (Hamlet v, iv). This quote from Ophelia demonstrates her deep sorrow towards her father s death, as well as the start of her path to insanity. Her lack of a maternal figure leaves her with nobody to discuss her feelings and troubles with. Because of this constant battle within her life, Ophelia finds herself in a confrontation with her emotions, which ends in her official decision of suicide. Which one could argue makes her decisive in the end which may be true, but her internal struggle leading to her choice of suicide is what makes her a great example of a character struggling with uncertainty during times of ... Essay about The Chinese Cultural Revolution The Chinese Cultural Revolution The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, beginning as a campaign targeted at removing Chairman Mao Zedong s political opponents, was a time when practically every aspect of Chinese society was in pandemonium. From 1966 through 1969, Mao encouraged revolutionary committees, including the red guards, to take power from the Chinese Communist party authorities of the state. The Red Guards, the majority being young adults, rose up against their teachers, parents, and neighbors. (Interview with Mr. Nie) The Red Guards used the four olds as a basic guideline on what to attack and not to attack. Another standard, which all revolutionary efforts were to be judged by, was from Mao?s ideas found in his little red book of quotations. The little red book was a collection of quotations taken from Mao?s past speeches and publications. The Red Guards? actions were a reflection of Mao?s policy of revamping passion, and destroying counter revolutionary symbols. ? The Adoption Of Islamic Business Practices The adoption of Islamic business practices by organizations: Why, How and what are the performance outcomes Organizations in most industries face increased competitive pressures from other organizations that aim to satisfy customer demands. One of the most significant issues that face organizations today is International competition in rapidly changing environment (Porter, 1986). Competition creates diverse, new capabilities into an industry and more dynamic and uncertain competitive environment. In industry the speed of technological developments might have changes due to increased competition (Wiersema and Bowen, 2008). In most global industry the fast development of products and process innovations has become very important in order to achieve competitive advantage (Bettis and Hitt, 1995). The expectations of customers are increasing, and to meet the needs of the customer, organizations are competing with each other. They are looking for ways they can get more profits and market share. There are many factors to this increased competition, as technology and globalization have shortened distances and consumers are now aware of more products and services (Frésard and Valta, 2012). The world is changing rapidly and ways of doing business have also changed. Globalization and technology have changed the way corporations do work and how they treat their customers and employees. The National Football League (NFL) and its players embody this resemblance. Despite the no politics rule, the NFL use flyovers of military aircraft before games, promoting the American military. Military is also common at MLB games. For example, President George W. Bush threw out the first pitch while Zirin attended the Washington Nationals game. A High-Voltage Compliant Microelectrode Array Driver for... 2.5 High voltage switching A fundamental component of this microelectrode driver is a high voltage switch and it is necessary to characterize the implemented switch for different stimulation current levels. An analog CMOS switch can be an n type or p type MOSFET which is operated either in cut off (OFF state) or ohmic region (ON state). The switch can be characterized by a fixed linear transconductance, gds , which is strongly signal dependent and expressed according to Eq. 8 [37] where, μn and μp are electron and hole mobility respectively in two types of transistors, Cox is the gate oxide capacitance, W n and W p are the dimensions of transistors, VDD is the power supply L L voltage, and Vin is the input signal. The bulk of NMOS and PMOS transistors are connected to the highest potential, VDD and the lowest potential, VSS respectively. The limitations are that the maximum voltage an NMOS and the minimum voltage a PMOS can pass are [VDD − Vthn ] and |Vthp | respectively. This drawback can be overcome using CMOS transmission gate (TG) which exhibits lower overall transconductance. Another advantage of using TG based switch is that it passes good 1 (or logic level high) and good 0 (logic level low) without any threshold voltage drop, or in other words, TG gate switch allows rail to rail swings. The transconductance of TG gate switch is expressed by the following equation: The on resistance RsON of the switch is the reciprocal of its transconductance, gdsON and given by ... Grinned at life in empty joy suggests to us that he was pleased by anything, a happy carefree young man. He was young and had no worries because he enjoyed life and did as he pleased. Sassoon uses the same structure that a children s rhyme usually has, and this is perhaps intended to emphasize that this boy, turned into a soldier and driven to suicide, was still just a boy. The depression of the young soldier is also shown to be shared by many; the eye catching title Suicide in the Trenches is evidence of this fact. The word trenches further emphasizes that the depression the young soldier feels is felt throughout all the trenches, and therefore many others in war. The juxtaposition between the first two stanzas adds to the effect intended upon the reader by Siegfried Sassoon. He wants us to feel the harsh reality of war; cold, unjust, harsh and depressing, and the image of a happy young man driven to suicide by war certainly emphasizes this point. This jarring contrast makes the boy s death a lot sadder and brings out sympathy in the reader. 2. What is Sassoon s view of the crowds which greet the soldiers on their return from the trenches? (3) In contrast to some contemporary writers, Hume devoted a lot of effort and space to the theory of passion before presenting his, based on emotion moral theory, in Book III of the Treatise. (4) However, as I believe, Hume s philosophy on the whole, contains not one, but two theories of passion. One of them is a theory of the genesis of passions from pains and pleasures. The second theory, on the other hand, refers to the group of passions which are after N. Kemp Smith called primary passions; and I will call it the descriptive theory of passion. The Treatise is dominated almost exclusively by the theory of genesis but the role of the descriptive theory in Enquiries is more important, and particularly in those places where Hume argues against hedonism and egoism in his theory of motivation. On the theory of genesis, passions are produced from pains and pleasures either directly or indirectly which, as it is well known, leads to Hume s distinction between direct and indirect passions. According to the descriptive theory, however, the situation is quite different. In their existence, the primary passions do not depend on pleasures and pains, on the contrary, pains and pleasures are produced by them. There is an interesting tension between these two theories in Hume s philosophy but this problem cannot be discussed here. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To aid in their discussion, the researchers start by analyzing the available studies whose research effectually laid the groundwork for the development of both theoretical models and applicable assessments concerning individual and group ethnic identification, such as the Multigroup Ethnic Identity Measure (MEIM) and the Multigroup Ethnic Identity Measure Revised (MEIM R). However, Phinney Ong (2007) takes the concept of social identity one step further by suggesting that a person s ethnic identity is also a form of social identity that develops alongside the formation of both the ingroup and outgroup mentality. Therefore, individuals who feel strongly connected to their ethnic group are more likely to identify with and/or behave according to the social norms and expectations of that group. For example, in studying the differences between the multicultural theory and the social identity theory, researchers Negy, Shreve, Jensen, Uden (2003) discovered a strong correlation between individual levels of ethnic identity and levels of ethnocentrism in both European Americans and Latino/a Americans. However, there was little to no correlation found among those who identify themselves as African American. Nevertheless, Phinney Ong (2007) conclude that ethnic identity is multifaceted and research designs and methods should reflect the multidimensional nature of ethnic identity accordingly. In addition to evaluating ethnic identity from a variety of psychological or behavioral perspectives, the article also discusses a number theoretical models for defining ethnic identity.
