Social Anxiety Chemical Imbalances Summary
The article Social Anxiety, Chemical Imbalances, and Brain Neural Pathways and Associations
addresses various mental/ cognitive causes of anxiety. Although this source focuses mainly on social
anxiety, the statements that are addressed are similar to numerous other subtypes of anxiety. This
source states Chemical imbalances exist because the neural pathways systems of the brain sometimes
lead to emotional pain [anxiety] and irrational conclusions (Social Anxiety, Chemical Imbalances, and
Brain Neural Pathways and Associations 1). A simplified definition of a neural pathway is what
connects the brain to our nervous system. This means that anxieties are caused by neural pathway
systems improperly functioning, which leads to chemical imbalances

Advantages Of Representative Democracy
Representative democracy is a modified version of our government now. It is a type of democracy
founded on the principle of elected officials representing a group of people, as opposed to direct
democracy. This is very similar to what goes on now because of the two parties and the election. The
Greeks came up with the representative government as a solution for the direct democracy. The
democratic democracy was a form of government where all eligible citizens had to vote for every
issue. It was very impractical because the minority would have no say in this due to the fact that
everyone is voting. With everyone voting this makes the cost go up and corruption would still occur.
This was a problem because imagine having to vote on every single issue and in a country as big as
the U.S. it certainly wouldn t work. This is why the representative democracy was a better fit than the
direct democracy.
Conservatism is an ideology of representative democracy. They believe in a lot of different things such
as personal responsibility, a limited government, free markets, individual liberty, traditional American
values, and a strong national defense. They also think the government s role should be to provide
people with freedom necessary for them to achieve their own goals. Conservative policies generally
want the individual to solve their own problems. A free market produces more economic growth, more
jobs, and higher standards of living than any other systems and excessive

Face Construct And Criterion-Related Validity Essay
There are differences among face, construct, and criterion related validity. Face validity assesses a task
under evaluation. A group of subjective experts evaluate face validity (Maribo, Pedersen, Jensen,
Nielsen, 2016). Face validity can be utilized to motivate stakeholders within an organization. If
stakeholders are not supportive of the results from face validity they will become disengaged. For
example, when measuring the level of professionalism during the hiring process questions should
relate to different levels of professionalism. If not stakeholders will not be motivated to give their
opinion and the true assessment of the hiring process will not be achieved. Face validity considers the
relevance of a test as it appears to testers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
367, 2012). This particular validity is important when it comes to legal defensibility. Construct
validity explains how what is being studied matches the actual measure. Criterion validity answers the
question of whether a test reflects a certain set of abilities. One way to assess criterion validity is to
compare it to a known standard. A reference is needed to determine an instrument s criterion related
validity. Criterion related validity predicts the future. If a nursing program designed a measure to
assess student learning throughout the program, a test such as the NCLEX would measure student s
ability in this discipline. If the instrument produces the same result as the superior test the instrument
has a high criterion related validity. The higher the results the more faith stakeholders will have in the
assessment tool. A criterion related validity study is conducted by statistically correlating scores with
some measure of job performance (Biddle, p.308, 2010). Criterion related validity is most important
when it comes to predicting performance in a specific job, and predicting future

The Aviation Fever After The World War I
James Dutch Kindelberger, a member of the National Aviation Hall of Fame, played a pivotal role in
American aviation. Kindelberger was born in Wheeling, West Virginia in 1895, 20 years before the
first heavier than air flight by the Wright brothers. After attending only one year of high school, Dutch
dropped out to become a steel mill apprentice. After experiencing the brutal hard work of the steel
mill, he decided to go back to school learn drafting at Carnegie Institute of Technology, which would
prove to be a useful skill in his future in avionics. Kindelberger first caught the aviation fever after an
ariel exhibition by the famous Lincoln Beachey in 1913. His flying fever led Dutch to become a pilot
instructor in the Army during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As President of North American, Kindelberger would lead design in many military and civilian
aircraft as well as make huge strides in rocket powered aircraft, laying a foundation for the United
States Space Race with the USSR. Before his death in 1962 Kindelberger would see his foundation
put an American in space. Although serving as an instructor in World War I, most of Kindelberger s
largest impacts came during the inter war years and World War II. While working as a mid tier
draftsman and designer with the Martin Company, he helped with the design of the illustrious Martin
Bombers which were a series of superior bombers used towards the end of World War I. The Martin
Bombers had new some never before seen features such as closed cockpits, rotating guns and
retractable landing gear as well as much more. The innovation in these planes changed the standards
for bombers at the time thus leading to other bomber designs being obsolete. Then, with his
experience at Martin, Kindelberger was able to move over to the Douglas Aircraft Company where his
genius really began to shine through. With Douglas Kindelberger designed seventy one models for
both military and civil use. One of his greatest accomplishments was the creation timeless DC series.
Kindelberger s great brain child, the DC 2, would be outshined by other aircraft in the DC family, but
it still paved the way for commercial airliners. The DC 2 was one of the first airliners and would

The Fur Trade Analysis
Bowsfeild, (2003) explains that Robert Semple who was born February 6th, 1777, and was the
Hudson Bay Company s, territorial Governor. He also states that historians claim Semple to be an
extremely hostile, vain, and failed to appreciate the lengths to which the Northwest Company would
go in order to destroy the Red River Settlement. At first Semple respected Robertson s superior
knowledge of the country, but he eventually decided to assert his own leadership. Robertson hoped to
blockade the rivers and prevent the Métis from supplying pemmican to the Northwest Company
bridges travelling west. Semple was more concerned with provisions for the settlement than with the
blockade.

The first Métis people were born in Eastern Canada as early as the 1600s, and they were the children
born to European men and their Aboriginal wives, (Sprague, 1998). When the fur trade moved west, in
the 1700s and 1800s, many French Canadian fur traders found the Aboriginal wives and had children,
and there are about 350,000 400,000 Métis in Canada alone. The Métis played a vital role in the
success of the Fur Trade. Not only were the Métis skilled buffalo hunters, but they were also raised to
appreciate both their Aboriginal and European cultures. Over time, the Métis became valuable
employees of both fur trade companies: The North West Company and even the Hudson s Bay
Company because the Métis were skilled voyageurs, buffalo hunters, traders, and interpreters,
(Sprague, 1998).
Ray, (2015), explains that The Hudson s Bay Company was founded by French traders named Medard
Chouart des Groseilliers, and Pierre Esprit Raddison, who first proposed a trading company to reach
the interior for better fur access. Once the posts for the Hudson s Bay Company were established, they
began trading with the Aboriginal people in Canada, this came to be known as the Fur Trade, which
will be further explained below. The Aboriginal people would trade pemmican and other furs for
manufactured items. This continued for many years until the Hudson s Bay Company began wanting

Catcher In The Rye Feminist Essay
In the book, The Catcher in the Rye , by J.D Salinger introduces Holden as a rowdy character who
values Feminism more than the people around him. He also admires many of the women around him
such as Jane and his younger sister Phoebe. In The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, Holden s
remarks and behavior characterizes his thoughts on feminism. By Holden expressing his views and
wanting to try to keep the children young and not grow up hints towards the lens of feminism. For
most of the book Holden doesn t have a set course of what he wants to do in life, but when he says to
Phoebe, Thousands of little kids, and nobody s around nobody big, I mean except me. And I m

And Holden resembles that in many ways such as how he doesn t like to take advantage of women,
admires Sally and many other women and hates the idea of Stradlater dating Jane because Holden
knows that he is a very full of himself and will take advantage of her. Another example is when Sunny
the prostitute comes into his room he pays for her and he doesn t have any interaction with her he just
tells her to leave which relates to Holden s history of being a caregiver and wanting to protect women.
Yet the 1950s saw some important developments that would contribute to the revival of feminism.
One was the rapid expansion of higher education. Although the proportion of women among college
students fell during the postwar years, their numbers kept rising. This meant a far larger constituency
of educated women, always the nucleus of feminist movements. Another major development was the
steady, incremental increase of women, notably married women, in the postwar labor force. The rising
number of working wives reflected the impact of birth control; women now completed their families
at younger ages. It also reflected the postwar growth of the middle class. (Foner) Holden took all of
these increases into consideration, although he didn t know about them he still unknowingly showed
them in the book by his actions towards every girl he met even the ones he

Gastrointestinal Disease
Stress and Gastrointestinal Diseases
Stress can cause mental disorders like anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), but it can
also cause gastrointestinal diseases such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and peptic ulcer disease. I
found the article The neurobiology of stress and gastrointestinal diseases which discusses the
correlation between the two.
Both chronic and acute stress can cause changes in the stomach. Acute life threatening stress episodes
in adult life are an important risk factor in the development of functional gastrointestinal disorders.
Examples of a acute life threatening stress episode could be rape, post traumatic stress. Even early life

John M Barry On Politics Analysis
John M. Barry examines the nuances of power in America by comparting and connecting and the
concepts behind politics, sports, and the media in Power Plays. As a means of maintaining the
audience s attention, Barry uses an informative narrative tone through different specific examples
along with anecdotal experiences to prevent the topic from becoming entirely conceptual. Barry, a
former college football coach, is able to draw parallels between sports and politics displaying how
powerful agendas affect lives. Barry focuses much on the devious tactics that are used to create or
destroy America s most powerful figures.

Jim Wright and Newt Gingrich were both House Speakers. Jim Wright was the Speaker beginning in
1987, however he was forced to resign in 1989. Barry explores how Gingrich, who Barry recalls was
ruthless in the coldest way, exploited and manipulated the media to unfairly and unjustly bring down
Wright through a scandal. While it was Gingrich who orchestrated the attacks on Wright, Barry
focuses mainly on the media as being a player in the game. Gingrich understood the influential power
of the media. While most politicians dislike the media as most of what is written exists as lies or
exaggerations, powerful politicians are able to manipulate the media to further their own needs. Inside
the game, the politician with the better tactics, for example the one who knows what to say, when to
say it, and with what tone should it be said, will have a more positive relationship with the media and
a greater chance to abuse the influence the media has. Outside the game, similarly to athletes, money
has power and can be crucial in establishing relationships. Therefore the man who has greater money
has a greater potential to create positive ties with the media. Again, while this book, due to the time
period, relates this power of influence struggle between Wright and Gingrich, a more up to date
comparison would be between potential Presidential Candidates Hillary Clinton, who owns the media
through inside the game tactics and Donald Trump, who holds influence outside the game by using his

Viking Raiders Essay
Beginning in about A.D. 800, many Scandinavians sailed south from their homelands to seek their
fortunes. These seafaring warriors began by raiding coastal sites of the British Isles but soon grew
more ambitious. During the next three centuries, they left their mark as traders, pirates and settlers on
much of Britain and the European continent. These raiders became known collectively as Norsemen,
or Northmen, though they are better remembered by another name: Vikings.
Most Vikings came from the regions of Scandinavia now known as Denmark, Norway and Sweden.

good friend Bubba first encounter their new Lieutenant in Vietnam, Forrest already knows that he was
from a long, great military tradition . Dan s belief that his destiny is predetermined, and that he is
going to die in an American war is not debatable. In Forrest s word s, you could say he had a lot to live
up to . Therefore, when Forrest saves Lieutenant Dan s life when their squadron comes under attack
by Charlie , Dan resents Forrest. Rather than dying with honor like his grandfathers, he becomes a
legless cripple. Lt. Dan laid all of his faith in the belief that he would die in Vietnam, and as effect of
his undesired survival, he throws himself into alcoholism and a cynical lifestyle. A quote by
Democritus describes Lt. Dan s character very well: everywhere man blames nature and fate. Yet his
fate is mostly but the echo of his character and passion, his mistakes and his weaknesses . Dan s
certainty that he is meant to die in war leaves him reeling for many years after Vietnam. He does not
know what his purpose in life is after that. Although he puts off a strong exterior, Dan becomes a weak
character, turning to booze and openly doubting God. As a result of Dan s once stringent belief in a
prearranged fate, he struggles through most of his life until the end of the film when he makes peace

Enlightenment Era Research Paper
The Enlightenment is marked as a period in time that challenged people to think for themselves. While
it did not mean removing a belief in God from a person s life, it usually meant refraining from reliance
on God and instead relying on oneself. Prior to the Enlightenment, there stood few influential people
in America who branched away from the Puritan lifestyle; however, that quickly changed as changed
during the Enlightenment period. J. Hector St. John de Crèvecoeur, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas
Jefferson, and Thomas Paine were important figures in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries who
exhibited an enlightened way of thinking, which helped to inspire the thoughts of future generations.

In his writings, he eloquently shared the enlightened idea of individual thought and liberty. Jefferson
wrote of the self evident truths ...that all men are created equal and have inalienable rights inclusive of

happiness endorsed the idea that when a person is able to determine their own pursuits through their
individual ability, they are able to discover their individual liberties. In addition, the Enlightenment s
ideology coursed through Thomas Jefferson s vision of a government formed by deriving their just
powers from the consent of the governed (663). Jefferson and his peers believed in the liberal political
thought that the people formed the government, which was answerable to those they represented.
Jefferson eschewed the idea of absolute authority and tyrannical rule as he wrote, that whenever any
form of government becomes destructive...it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it. (663). He
relayed the enlightened intellectual s belief that it is the duty of the people to dispose of despotic
regimes (663). Of Particular interest is the idea that Thomas Jefferson and many American colonists
ascribed heartily enough to the progressive ideas of individualism and freedom that they were willing

Summary Of Afonso I s Letter To John III Of Portugal
One course reading that reflects the ideas and themes of the documentary is Afonso I s Letter to John
III of Portugal. In his letter, Afonso expressed his anger toward the Portuguese merchants who
overstepped their boundaries and sold his people as slaves, regardless of whether they could actually
be sold as slaves. He was also frustrated that the merchants only sought profit and sold products that
were prohibited, and, as a result, the people of Kongo bought wares from the merchants rather than
from other citizens, which hurt the economy of the country. Additionally, he emphasized his desire to
maintain a friendly trading relationship because of the importance of European goods and guns in

would have likely been seen by King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella. He also knew that if they

percent of the revenue achieved from the land. Columbus also highlighted the natives lack of
weapons, stating, They have no iron, nor steel, nor weapons, nor are they fit for them... In addition, he
claimed that they were very timid and seemed to think he was a god, meaning they were very
compliant and easy to enslave. Similarly, Guns, Germs, and Steel notes that the Spanish conquered the

in their conquest. Furthermore, as previously mentioned, it acknowledges the enslavement of natives

Parenting Styles And Styles Of Parenting
Parenting Styles My term paper will discuss the 4 Styles of Parenting, including; the styles of
parenting that we as single parents and couple parents may identify with. My paper will also discuss
how each parenting styles impacts our children, if it works and the style of parenting that s most
effective. Authoritative Parenting Style The Authoritative Style of Parenting, children are expected to
follow the rules and guidelines that a parent with this style of parenting has put into place. This type of
parents are responsive to their children and willing (eager) to listen to questions. Authoritative parents
gives reasonable demands, consistent limits, expresses warmth and affection which every child, I
think, yearns for. Rules are set and reasons behind the rules are explain to ensure that the child (ren)
understands. They re also willing to listen to the child s feelings when setting these limits. Parents
with this style of parenting are flexible and willing to bend the rules in certain cases for example,
allowing the child to stay up an hour pass the normal bedtime, so that the child can finish watching
television. When a child (ren) fail to meet the expectations that an Authoritative Parent is more of a
nurturing and forgiving parent rather than punishing. These types of parents uses rewards, praises, and
positive consequences for good behaviors. Baurmind (1971, 1991) suggests that these parents, monitor
and impart clear standards for their children s conduct. They

independent when he portrays himself as transparent, honest, and truthful; as a result, Widow Douglas
wants to civilize Huck because if he does not he will die according to his religion like his caretakers

me a poor lost lamb¨ (para. 3). By Widow Douglas naming him a ¨poor lost lamb¨ she thinks of him as
unordinary for being himself, an individual. The Widow wants to change his appearance and how he

Huck does not plan to convert the same way as them. Huck is not being what they considered
¨respectful¨ and instead is getting into his old rags, running away, and uneducated. Another example,
in the piece is when Huck illustrates that ¨There was things which he stretched, but mainly he told the
truth¨ (para. 1). Huck refers to the author as lying in his stories in some cases just like Miss Watson
portrays herself as religious, but has an adopted son who she lives with that is not like society. She is
being a liar to the rest of the society because her religious allows her to be what she wants and that is
why she wants to change Huck because she is the religious one. Huck feels he is better off on his own
because he does not want to be raised by people who are not fully religious like they are claiming and
wanting Huck to be. To conclude, Huck is more comfortable having his freedom than what Miss

Examples Of Stoicism In The Aeneid
In the Aeneid by Vergil, the Roman values of Stoicism, dutifulness, and patriotism are reflected
through the main characters actions and beliefs, such as Aeneas s abandonment of Dido and his speech
of encouragement to his soldiers. In Roman philosophy, Stoicism was valued because it emphasized
following duty over giving into emotion. Vergil portrays this belief consistently throughout the Aeneid
through the characters actions. The first instance of Stoicism is when Aeneas and his crew are
shipwrecked in Carthage. Aeneas states, Now call back your courage, and have done with fear and

should actively participate in the political aspect of society as a duty to their country. Vergil highlights
the Roman value of dutifulness throughout his entire epic. For example, Aeneas s quest is based upon
his duty to the Trojan people and his descendants, who are destined to become formidable leaders.
Aeneas leaves Troy to construct a new empire that will continue to build upon the Trojan legacy. He
endures numerous calamities and misfortunes throughout his journey but always honors his duty to the
gods and his people. Vergil further enhances his portrayal of the Roman value of duty through King
Latinus. Although his daughter, Lavinia, has many suitors around his kingdom, a prophecy from the
Oracle of Faunus reveals to him that she is destined to marry a foreigner. At first, Latinus is dutiful
and honors the gods wishes, but his lack of fortitude in standing up to his wife and other suitors leads
to him neglecting his duty. This results in a major war and his country s ultimate

Guantanamo Bay And National Security
Guantanamo Bay and National Security
Chapter One: Introduction
Introduction to the Chapter National security in the United States is more significant than ever before.
With recent terrorist attacks in Europe, the Middle East, and within the United States, politicians as
well as citizens have questioned how safe the country is compared to prior to the events of September
11th, 2001. The opening of the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base as a detention facility in 2002, serve the
purpose of housing suspected terrorists and criminals that were responsible for the 9/11 attacks. These
criminals included suspected member of the Islamic fundamentalist faction, the Taliban, and those
thought to be responsible, members of al Qaeda. However, throughout the nine years that it served as a
detention facility, it was under extreme scrutiny, controversy, and ethical and legal dilemmas over the
treatment of the prisoners.
When President Obama announced the Guantanamo Bay would close on January 22nd, 2009 and
issued the executive order to promptly close the facility, it was met with mixed emotion and criticism.
While, the closure of the detention facility has yet to be fulfilled, there have been hundreds of
prisoners released, or transferred to their countries, and presently less than one hundred remain in the
detention facility. What this research chooses to explore is, if the Guantanamo Bay (GTMO) detention
facilities are closed entirely how it will impact the United States national security?

Joyner Lucas I M Sorry Meaning
Rough Draft Essay #4 The song I chose was I m Sorry by the artist Joyner Lucas. This song has a
pretty deep meaning to me. It s about a man who commits suicide. Last year around Christmas time I
met this guy. He was a friend of a close family member of mine. He was always hanging around them
so naturally we started talking. I m the type of person who cares about people a little too much. I
started noticing that he got more quiet and more to himself. I never thought he wanted to hurt himself.
I trusted him and he knew he could trust me too. Things at home weren t good. He was hurting. No
kid should ever go through that (he is my age). A couple weeks later things seemed like they were
getting better. He used music as his escape. Me and him would talk about different songs that we liked
and how they affected how we felt. Cheesy stuff like that. Then one night at around 11 p.m. ish he
sends me a link to the song I m Sorry. I listened to it. All I remember is so many things going through
my head. My brother in the hospital, his funeral, my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My story has a meaningful story behind it. The story is deep for me and even for the artist and
probably for many other people. Hearing songs like this can inspire you. It inspired me to be thankful
for the people in my life. One day they can be here the next they could be gone. You never know what
s going on in their lives. The question is why should we read? You get inspired by reading. It also
helps you succeed. Given that reading can help, one story was about a boy who struggled with
English. This story was Inside Out. He painted and read which inspired him to succeed in school.
(brief summary from pages 11 18) Hence the story by Sharon Cho. It was about a girl who was sick.
Reading inspired her to become a better person. It also helped her with her English too. She was very
sick but reading certain books inspired her to become a better person and enjoy life. (brief summary

The Bayeux Tapestry, By The Historical Events That...
The Bayeux Tapestry is a 230 foot long enigma. Although the historical events that inspired its
creation are well known, there are still many aspects of the tapestry that remain a mystery and a range
of theories to explain certain contested phenomena. There is still discrepancy over the basic facts of
the tapestry such as where it was made, and who even commissioned it. However, one aspect that has
many interpretations are the borders surrounding the main narrative. The borders stretch,
uninterrupted, above and below the main scene for almost the whole length of the tapestry. Composed
of plants, mammals, birds, and occasional humans, separated with bars and plant images, some see no
meaning in the borders, while others argue they are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fox and Crow can be used as a case study to lay out the various scholar s analyses of the fables. In the
Fox and Crow, the crow found a piece of cheese, but the fox tricked him into dropping it and ate it
himself. Some see this interaction from a pro Norman point of view. In it, William of Normandy is the
crow and the cheese is his claim to the crown. Harold is the conniving fox who tricks William by
going around his back and asking King Edward for the crown, even after he had sworn an oath to
William on sacred relics. Others see it with a pro English point of view. In this reading the cheese is
still the claim to the English throne, but now Harold is the crow. He rightly acquired the crown from
King Edward on his deathbed and now William is being the sneaky one, raising an army in secret and
coming to take the cheese back.
In The Narrative Art of the Bayeux Tapestry Master, John McNulty has two separate readings of the
fables that link together. First, he believes that all the eight canonical fables work together to convey
to the viewer the main themes of the narrative and that they supply a carefully attuned commentary on
the main story. The fables encompass themes from corruption and trickery to greed and vanity, which
are all associated with the events of the

Definition Essay On Happiness
Everyone in life has their own perspective of happiness, everyone has their own struggles and
obstacles that they go through . Individually, happiness does not include materialistic items because
they only last for the moment. Happiness is when you are content with yourself within and do not care
about others judging you for you. People in our society often think that having the finer things in life
and changing their appearance will help them cope with the flaws inside of themselves. Instead of
being satisfied with who they are and what they already have, they tend to go above and beyond their
means as an individual. This makes it harder to become lively because people are consistently trying
to find happiness outside of themselves when in

Cineplex Inc. Risk Profile
CINEPLEX INC risk profile
CAS 300 requires auditors to their audit using a risk based model where the nature, timing and extent
of audit procedures are based on the assessed risk of material misstatement. Pickett (2006) argues that
for audits to be effective and efficient, much of the audit effort should be focused on areas that are
considered to pose the highest audit risk. Additional audit procedures should be linked to individual
audit assertions whereas other audit procedures need to be performed as and when needed. Thus, for
an audit plan to be put in place, it is necessary for an auditor to come up with a risk profile of the
client comprising an understanding of the business operating by the audit client, assess business risk
and also perform its preliminary analytical review.

If Celie looks for God in a white church or a white written Bible it is inevitable that she will encounter

Celie then accepts and employs Shug s ideology that God is inside you and inside everyone else. In

Three Key Components Of Albert Bandura s Social Learning...
Another theory that is relevant to the study is Albert Bandura s (1977) Social Learning Theory. Unlike
the experiential learning theory which is more focused on how the environment affects the behaviour
of the individual, the social learning theory is based on the idea that we learn from our interactions
with others in a social context. Separately, by observing the behaviors of others, people tend to
develop similar behaviors. New concepts of social learning are being formulated as new trends in
distance education programs emerge. The rise in popularity of these programs continues to increase
the physical distance between educators and students (Smith Berge, 2009). There are three key

occur if a person observes positive, desired outcomes in the first stage. If, for example, an instructor
attends and observes a course in world and is entertained, informed, and approves of the way students
act, they are more likely to want to teach a course in world themselves. They can then use the behavior
they experienced to imitate and model other instructors

Distracted Parents
For this research response paper, I was asked to research and analyze a recent article from a local
newspaper. I chose an article that was recently published in the Deseret News. The article is titled,
Amy Iverson: Why kids think their parents are high tech hypocrites, this article explains why Amy
Iverson believes that parents are, as she calls them, high tech hypocrites (Iverson). She explains that
they are hypocrites in the sense that they don t follow their rules that they ask their children to follow
when it comes to technology. Parents may have rules for their children, But have parents set any
similar rules for themselves? Not really (Iverson).

One of the most important relationships that are suffering, is that between the parents and their
children. Parents are almost always being distracted by their electronics and cell phones when they
should be focusing and building a relationship with their children.
Such an understanding is critical given that a warm, loving relationship with parents, along with
experiencing effective parenting are key factors in both protecting adolescents from developing
behavioral difficulties and for promoting their positive development (QTD in Moawad et al).
Ultimately, parents need to be able to give the children the ...warm, loving relationship... (QTD in
Moawad et al) that they require; but if they are always distracted, they will not be able to do so. The
last reason that I want to mention in this paper is that when parents are continually using their phones
and electronic devices, they aren t paying the necessary amount of attention to their children. Which in
turn, puts them in danger. There was an article written about parents not paying attention to their
children in playgrounds. Cell phones are not the only distraction to parents, but ultimately it is the

Essay about My Family s Experience with Foreclosure
Foreclosure is one of the hardest things that a person can be introduced to. It can make a person or

more since getting out of a foreclosure scam at a very young age of 16. Throughout that hard time I
just continued to not only motivate myself, but my mother because I understand getting something
taken away from you that you have worked hard for can destroy a good person. This is what happened
to my family and I, and what we did to overcome it. April 1, 2007 we got the phone call stating we

This lady sat at our dining room table talking to me and my mother about how we were going to sue

foreclosure on the home would mean a immediate termination of our contract. The owner of the home
also told us she came because the mortgage on the home had not been paid since May. So not only
was the partial owner of the home not informing us of his financial problem but he did not pay the
mortgage company the money we gave him and still to this day we do not know where our money is.
We soon heard from him around Christmas time but not about the foreclosure. The conversation
revolved around if he didn t get his money what he would do to my family. We were threatened
mentally and physically to the point that we changed the locks and immediately started looking for
another home. We found out the situation we were in was a scam because we did some research and
noticed that we were not the first person he had approached with the same offer but also who lost all
of their money in the same home the same way we were. A week before Christmas eve my family

The Debate On Sex Ethics Essay
Under the topic of sex ethics, the morality of homosexuality is a widely debated and controversial
issue. One side of the debate asserts that homosexual behavior is against God s will, and is wrong
because we are all obligated to do God s will, God s will is expressed in the Bible, and the Bible
forbids homosexual behavior (Craig). This debate is called the traditional Christian argument.
Although the argument is valid, I will argue against the conclusion that homosexual behavior is not
against God s will and is not wrong, because the second and third premises of the argument are not
sound. The second premise of the traditional Christian argument is unsound because God s will is not
expressed in the Bible. Before stating what makes the second premise unsound, I will consider
reasoning one could give in support of it. Among the many denominations of Christianity, Catholicism
is easily able to support the second premise of the traditional Christian argument from the Vatican s
Declaration on Some Questions of Sexual Ethics . The declaration strongly asserts that moral
reasoning is not a human construct, but rather it comes from God. God is all knowing and all good as
his plan for salvation was conceived in wisdom and love (Pope Paul VI). God delivered Christ to
humanity to save humans from evil, and those who follow Christ will walk in the light of life (Pope
Paul VI). Christ established the Church, and the church is the pillar of truth, and transmits the truth of

Alternative Energy Production And Its Effects On Fossil Fuels
There has been a growing pressure to develop alternative energy production paths to reduce the
dependency on fossil fuels, while at the same time reducing CO2 emissions to prevent global
warming. Energy from the waste conversion is considered as alternative mean to create renewable
energy. Besides its importance in power generation, char as one of the pyrolysis product is considered
as a potential source that can be valorised alongside oil and gas (or syngas).
Pyrolysis is a thermochemical conversion processes that need an external source of heating to yield
gaseous and oily products in the total absence of oxygen, whose characteristics depend on feedstock
composition, temperature, reactor configuration and gasifying agent, and another key process (1,2).
This technology is considered as an attractive alternative to incineration for dealing with municipal
waste disposal due to its lower amount of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and sulphur oxides (SOx) produced
(3). Pyrolysis conditions and parameters are optimised to achieve the optimal output. However, the
thermal cracking process might lead to generating the extent of pyrolysis which is considered less
valuable.
One of the outputs, char, is a carbon rich matrix that contains almost all the inorganic compounds
present in the raw wastes and a significant amount of the condensed by products formed during the
pyrolysis process dispersed throughout a porous structure. In most cases, MSW pyrolytic char does
not have sufficient quality to

Rappaccini s Daughter And The Birthmark Short Story
In his short stories Rappaccini s Daughter and The Birthmark author Nathaniel Hawthorne explores
the limitations of humanity and the ability to achieve perfection. Humans are always striving to
advance and evolve, forever chasing after this idea of perfection. Part of humanity is always wanting
to do better, to have more. In Hawthorne s short stories, the two main characters are both scientists
who make an attempt at creating perfection. Hawthorne epitomizes the unattainable pursuit of
perfection sought after by humans and subsequently, the overeagerness of humans to attempt to play
god. In reality this desire to have complete perfection is an unattainable goal that humans can only
aspire to. In the pursuit of perfection, the greatest risk is to become too caught up in perfection and to
then lose the ethics and morality of humanity. The pursuit of perfection can cause an obsession with
perfection so that the pursuer becomes discontented with what they are physically able to attain. In the
short story The Birthmark scientist Aylmer imposes his pursuit of perfection onto his fiancee when he
attempts to remove a small birthmark from her otherwise beautiful appearance. Aylmer is unable to be
content with his wife and feels that he must remove the birthmark in order for her to become beautiful.
His displeasure with the birthmark increases even further as he becomes more and more unsettled by

Oppression In Native American Culture
Native Americans, the true founders of America, are best known for having a tight grip on tradition
throughout the years. Tradition is a way that Native Americans have been able to coexist for so long,
and is also a way that natives have found stability from tribe to tribe. As Native Americans graciously
welcomed colonists into the new world years ago, they did not receive equal respect in return. The
colonists invading America gave natives a harsh ultimatum, to either leave America, or conform to the
new society that would soon destroy the teepees and farmlands the natives considered home. The
oppression from the colonists, gave natives the incentive that being any race other than white was not
something to be proud of. Through the use of narrative writing done by Native Americans, readers are
given an opportunity to see history through the lens of the oppressed. This further gives an opportunity
for readers understand the very situation that many people who may even look like them once had to
deal with. This allows us to not only draw specific conclusions about this period of oppression, but it
displays how easy it can be for people to fall into very specific standards, and conform to societies that
do not protect their values, and lives.
Growing up, children are regularly told to be themselves, because everyone else is taken. This advice,
however, is quite controversial. I hated Tonto Still Do, written by Sherman Alexie, expresses how

My Study On A Small Sample Size Of Eight School Leaders
I recognize three considerations to my study: (1) sample size, (2) subjectivity, and (3) trustworthiness
of my research that need to be acknowledged. The first consideration of my study is based on a small
sample size of eight school leaders. I ve come to recognize that my findings in this narrative study can
only be generalized by the lived experiences and told stories given by each of the selected principals
in the study. An important perspective in narrative studies is that a small sample size allows only for
researchers to provide the context and content of those participants in the study. And by capturing the
entire story as told by my selected participants, I will be in the right position to present a more holistic
grounding of their work as school leaders in pursuit of equity. Indeed, additional studies that desire to
engage this kind of research is sorely needed in order to broaden and/or augment the findings of such
a study. I believe the current value of this study is its ability to capture the nuances of leadership
practices, dispositions, and challenges that can better inform school leadership for the just rights of
others. A second consideration significant to this study is my positionality. I recognize this research
study is vulnerable to my own positionality and my experiences in educational spaces. Alcoff (1988)
argues positionality results from the influences of our experiences in our changing historical context
and how we choose to act/contribute upon

American Language Pluralism
1. What were the dominant concerns of the founders of the United States with regard to language?
Several of the founders deemed standardization of language usage to be a grave concern because the
US does not have a designated language.
2. What attitudes did pre twentieth century Americans display toward linguistic diversity? What
attitudes did they hold toward assimilation or cultural pluralism? The attitudes of pre twentieth

3. What seems to account for waves of concern about an official language? There are several reasons

Cheerleading Is A Sport Essay
Do you believe cheerleading is a sport? Many people think cheerleading is not a sport, cheerleading is
a sport, it has everything that defines it as one, they only have 2 ½ minutes to show everyone what
they have been working on for months. It s rigorous just to make all those 8 counts perfect.
Although, many say cheerleading isn t a sport it is here s why. The definition of the word sport: is an
activity that involves physical movement and skill. In cheerleading all those tirelessly long practices
that s where all physical movement comes in. The skill part comes in when we do the gravity defying

cheerleaders compete they only have one chance to show they ve got. You have one performance, just

he can achieve his goals by obtaining knowledge outside of his small town in Loreto, Mexico. In his

Formal Analysis on Anthony van Dyck s Rachel de Ruvigny, Countess of Southampton
There are actually two versions of Anthony van Dyck s painting of the countess of Southampton;
Anthony van Dyck, Rachel de Ruvigny, Countess of Southampton, ca. 1640, National Gallery of
Victoria, Melbourne (see fig. 1) and Anthony van Dyck, Rachel de Ruvigny, Countess of Southampton

blue/blue green gown as where the background and other objects such as the sphere and skull are
painted in this dark hue of orange that contrasts with the main subject. Van Dyck has also used
different types of lines in this painting. Firstly, the folds and wrinkles in her clothes are created by soft
and sensual lines that have made the fabric more realistic. Also, contour lines have been used to

It was very impractical because the minority would have no say in this due to the fact that everyone is voting. With everyone voting this makes the cost go up and corruption would still occur. This was a problem because imagine having to vote on every single issue and in a country as big as the U.S. it certainly wouldn t work. This is why the representative democracy was a better fit than the direct democracy. Conservatism is an ideology of representative democracy. They believe in a lot of different things such as personal responsibility, a limited government, free markets, individual liberty, traditional American values, and a strong national defense. They also think the government s role should be to provide people with freedom necessary for them to achieve their own goals. Conservative policies generally want the individual to solve their own problems. A free market produces more economic growth, more jobs, and higher standards of living than any other systems and excessive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If stakeholders are not supportive of the results from face validity they will become disengaged. For example, when measuring the level of professionalism during the hiring process questions should relate to different levels of professionalism. If not stakeholders will not be motivated to give their opinion and the true assessment of the hiring process will not be achieved. This particular validity is important when it comes to legal defensibility. Construct validity explains how what is being studied matches the actual measure. Criterion validity answers the question of whether a test reflects a certain set of abilities. One way to assess criterion validity is to compare it to a known standard. A reference is needed to determine an instrument s criterion related validity. Criterion related validity predicts the future. If a nursing program designed a measure to assess student learning throughout the program, a test such as the NCLEX would measure student s ability in this discipline. If the instrument produces the same result as the superior test the instrument has a high criterion related validity. The higher the results the more faith stakeholders will have in the assessment tool. A criterion related validity study is conducted by statistically correlating scores with some measure of job performance (Biddle, p.308, 2010). Yet the 1950s saw some important developments that would contribute to the revival of feminism. One was the rapid expansion of higher education. Although the proportion of women among college students fell during the postwar years, their numbers kept rising. This meant a far larger constituency of educated women, always the nucleus of feminist movements. Another major development was the steady, incremental increase of women, notably married women, in the postwar labor force. The rising number of working wives reflected the impact of birth control; women now completed their families at younger ages. It also reflected the postwar growth of the middle class. Individually, happiness does not include materialistic items because they only last for the moment. People in our society often think that having the finer things in life and changing their appearance will help them cope with the flaws inside of themselves. Instead of being satisfied with who they are and what they already have, they tend to go above and beyond their means as an individual. Risk Profile CINEPLEX INC risk profile CAS 300 requires auditors to their audit using a risk based model where the nature, timing and extent of audit procedures are based on the assessed risk of material misstatement. Pickett (2006) argues that for audits to be effective and efficient, much of the audit effort should be focused on areas that are considered to pose the highest audit risk. Additional audit procedures should be linked to individual audit assertions whereas other audit procedures need to be performed as and when needed. Thus, for an audit plan to be put in place, it is necessary for an auditor to come up with a risk profile of the client comprising an understanding of the business operating by the audit client, assess business risk and also perform its preliminary analytical review. Unlike the experiential learning theory which is more focused on how the environment affects the behaviour of the individual, the social learning theory is based on the idea that we learn from our interactions with others in a social context. Separately, by observing the behaviors of others, people tend to develop similar behaviors. New concepts of social learning are being formulated as new trends in distance education programs emerge. This is what happened to my family and I, and what we did to overcome it. April 1, 2007 we got the phone call stating we had finally been approved to move into our first family home after 13 years. • 32. The Debate On Sex Ethics Essay Under the topic of sex ethics, the morality of homosexuality is a widely debated and controversial issue. One side of the debate asserts that homosexual behavior is against God s will, and is wrong because we are all obligated to do God s will, God s will is expressed in the Bible, and the Bible forbids homosexual behavior (Craig). This debate is called the traditional Christian argument. Although the argument is valid, I will argue against the conclusion that homosexual behavior is not against God s will and is not wrong, because the second and third premises of the argument are not sound. The second premise of the traditional Christian argument is unsound because God s will is not expressed in the Bible. Before stating what makes the second premise unsound, I will consider reasoning one could give in support of it. Among the many denominations of Christianity, Catholicism is easily able to support the second premise of the traditional Christian argument from the Vatican s Declaration on Some Questions of Sexual Ethics . The declaration strongly asserts that moral reasoning is not a human construct, but rather it comes from God. God is all knowing and all good as his plan for salvation was conceived in wisdom and love (Pope Paul VI). • 33. Alternative Energy Production And Its Effects On Fossil Fuels There has been a growing pressure to develop alternative energy production paths to reduce the dependency on fossil fuels, while at the same time reducing CO2 emissions to prevent global warming. Energy from the waste conversion is considered as alternative mean to create renewable energy. Besides its importance in power generation, char as one of the pyrolysis product is considered as a potential source that can be valorised alongside oil and gas (or syngas). Pyrolysis is a thermochemical conversion processes that need an external source of heating to yield gaseous and oily products in the total absence of oxygen, whose characteristics depend on feedstock composition, temperature, reactor configuration and gasifying agent, and another key process (1,2). This technology is considered as an attractive alternative to incineration for dealing with municipal waste disposal due to its lower amount of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and sulphur oxides (SOx) produced (3). Pyrolysis conditions and parameters are optimised to achieve the optimal output. However, the thermal cracking process might lead to generating the extent of pyrolysis which is considered less valuable. One of the outputs, char, is a carbon rich matrix that contains almost all the inorganic compounds present in the raw wastes and a significant amount of the condensed by products formed during the pyrolysis process dispersed throughout a porous structure. • 34. Rappaccini s Daughter And The Birthmark Short Story In his short stories Rappaccini s Daughter and The Birthmark author Nathaniel Hawthorne explores the limitations of humanity and the ability to achieve perfection. Humans are always striving to advance and evolve, forever chasing after this idea of perfection. Part of humanity is always wanting to do better, to have more. In Hawthorne s short stories, the two main characters are both scientists who make an attempt at creating perfection. Hawthorne epitomizes the unattainable pursuit of perfection sought after by humans and subsequently, the overeagerness of humans to attempt to play god. In reality this desire to have complete perfection is an unattainable goal that humans can only aspire to. In the pursuit of perfection, the greatest risk is to become too caught up in perfection and to then lose the ethics and morality of humanity. The pursuit of perfection can cause an obsession with perfection so that the pursuer becomes discontented with what they are physically able to attain. In the short story The Birthmark scientist Aylmer imposes his pursuit of perfection onto his fiancee when he attempts to remove a small birthmark from her otherwise beautiful appearance. Aylmer is unable to be content with his wife and feels that he must remove the birthmark in order for her to become beautiful. • 37. Oppression In Native American Culture Native Americans, the true founders of America, are best known for having a tight grip on tradition throughout the years. Tradition is a way that Native Americans have been able to coexist for so long, and is also a way that natives have found stability from tribe to tribe. As Native Americans graciously welcomed colonists into the new world years ago, they did not receive equal respect in return. The colonists invading America gave natives a harsh ultimatum, to either leave America, or conform to the new society that would soon destroy the teepees and farmlands the natives considered home. The oppression from the colonists, gave natives the incentive that being any race other than white was not something to be proud of. Through the use of narrative writing done by Native Americans, readers are given an opportunity to see history through the lens of the oppressed. This further gives an opportunity for readers understand the very situation that many people who may even look like them once had to deal with. This allows us to not only draw specific conclusions about this period of oppression, but it displays how easy it can be for people to fall into very specific standards, and conform to societies that do not protect their values, and lives. • 38. My Study On A Small Sample Size Of Eight School Leaders I recognize three considerations to my study: (1) sample size, (2) subjectivity, and (3) trustworthiness of my research that need to be acknowledged. The first consideration of my study is based on a small sample size of eight school leaders. I ve come to recognize that my findings in this narrative study can only be generalized by the lived experiences and told stories given by each of the selected principals in the study. An important perspective in narrative studies is that a small sample size allows only for researchers to provide the context and content of those participants in the study. And by capturing the entire story as told by my selected participants, I will be in the right position to present a more holistic grounding of their work as school leaders in pursuit of equity. Indeed, additional studies that desire to engage this kind of research is sorely needed in order to broaden and/or augment the findings of such a study. I believe the current value of this study is its ability to capture the nuances of leadership practices, dispositions, and challenges that can better inform school leadership for the just rights of others. A second consideration significant to this study is my positionality. I recognize this research study is vulnerable to my own positionality and my experiences in educational spaces. Alcoff (1988) argues positionality results from the influences of our experiences in our changing historical context and how we choose to act/contribute upon ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is an obvious use of geometric shape of a circle on the sphere to form its whole shape and having organic shapes for the whole figure of the countess and especially the clouds in the background and foreground. The artist has also managed to develop the texture in this painting. He mainly used light and rough brushstrokes instead of thick layers of paint like impasto. Gentle and small brushstrokes build up the figure of Rachel de Ruvigny, from her hair to her gown. These brushstrokes do not appear loose or quick. The shine and the way the fabric flows create the texture of silk (see fig. 6). The application of oil paint has helped in achieving the production of this texture. For the clouds, the build up of paint through dabbing and swirling has made them look soft and fluffy. The sphere is also painted with reflective spots and a smooth surface to create the texture of a sleek fragile orb. Moving on to the colour harmony of this painting, Anthony van Dyck has used complementary colours two of which are blue and orange. The subject, Rachel de Ruvigny, is mainly wearing a blue/blue green gown as where the background and other objects such as the sphere and skull are painted in this dark hue of orange that contrasts with the main subject.
