Indigenous Rights
2. What are some recent events in the news that deal with indigenous rights? How do they relate to the
module?
I m sure most people have followed the news on the Dakota Access Pipeline and the Keystone XL
Pipeline, this may even be the largest (recent) news event that is involved with indigenous rights.
However, there are several other recent news events that cover indigenous rights within the United
States in particular. Many of these news events revolve around land (monument statuses, and rightly
ownership), and cultural appropriation. These factors play into the larger scheme of structural violence
and general perceptions of Native American people.
First, I d like to give a little background on the pipelines for those who may be ... Show more content

Rather, as Garrett and Pichette would explain, legislative measures were clever and would go on to
force Native Americans to conform to the structures of White American (Garrett and Pichette).
So what does this second example have to do with modern events? The piece was written on
attempting to return land that was forcibly taken from the Native Americans, in this case the Lenape.
An activist for Native American rights would go on to buy a building in Manhattan with the hopes of
restoring it into a prayer house, which would be owned and operated by the Lenape Nation. This
decision was not without some controversy, as this person had made Mr. Van Dunk the recipient of the
gesture/gift (Kilgannon). Mr. Van Dunk was a prior chief of the Lenape Nation, who had been
criticized for how he handled tribe finances and business. Mr. Van Dunk has since been barred from
the nation by a tribal vote (Kilgannon). Thus, people feel he is an inappropriate recipient. This
particular article relates to the land ownership and rights of Native American tribes, that have often
been neglected.
Lastly, there s also been an article regarding the promises of the coal industry made to some tribes.
These tribes have been said to be relying on Trump s promises regarding the revitalization of the coal
industry. The coal industry for several tribes serves as a means of

Essay On Phospholipids
Phospholipids
Phospholipids are created by two fatty acids with a phosphate group, they are classed as fats and they
are made up of lipids. The fatty acids in the phospholipid are hydrophobic and the phosphate head is
hydrophilic and it is outwards and the tail is inwards, this causes to create the cell membrane.
Triglycerides
Triglycerides contain three fatty acids and glycerol molecule, whereas phospholipids have two fatty
acids and a phosphate group. Triglycerides stop the loss of heat by insulation and they have ester
bonds.
The difference in uses of triglycerides and phospholipids
Phospholipids
The cell membrane is formed by phospholipids, the cell membrane controls what substances and gases
go in and out of the cell. When inside the water the phospholipids organize themselves into position,
the hydrophilic head is on the outside of the membrane because they can handle water, however, on
the inside of the membrane the hydrophobic tail does not like water. ... Show more content on

Case Study Essay On Bromo Cottages
Bromo Cottages Hotel, Indonesia: The Exotic Hotel with Unique Facilities
Mount Bromo, an active volcano in the eastern Indonesia s island of Java, is a place with breathtaking
natural beauty of nature. The volcano has become a magnet that attracts hundreds of thousands
domestic and international visitors to come there to witness the magnificent sunrise view from the
volcano s crater area.
This fact certainly makes hotel businesses around Mount Bromo flourish. Like many other tourist
spots, there are many hotels of different prices that offer different facilities and services. Bromo
Cottages is one of them. Therefore, many times it is difficult to make up your mind on which hotel to

But since you don t stay for too long in Bromo, a foggy morning is a natural phenomenon too pity to
be missed (you may not see this phenomenon in your country!). Fog always comes at around 5am to
6am and this is quite a normal thing for a tropical hill area more than 3000 meters above sea level. Get

Ancient Chinese Contributions
Ancient Chinese Contributions
Kenneth Smith
Professor Maxine Brown
HUM 111 World Cultures I
November 29, 2012
The Ancient Chinese culture has contributed in many ways to the way of life today as we know it.
Upon completion of this paper, I will have identified eight to ten useful inventions or contributions
that are used in the world today. Some of these inventions include the compass, gunpowder, row
planting, deep drilling, and toilet paper and so on. Within those eight to ten inventions, I will choose
four that I believe are the most innovative.
Row Planting (Feudal period 6th Cent BC)
The Chinese started planting crops in rows sometime in the 6th century BC. This allows the crops to

It s assumed the discovery of occurred sometime earlier, since Zeng describes three different
gunpowder mixtures and the Chinese used it for signal flares before appropriating it for military use in
rudimentary grenades. Over time, we realized that metals added to the mixtures created brilliant colors
in gunpowder explosions and modern day fireworks were born! It also makes a handy explosive for
projectiles like bullets. (Josh Clark)
Paper
Once language begins to develop, though, humans wrote on anything that would stand still long
enough. Clay tablets, bamboo, papyrus and stone were only a few of the early writing surfaces. Things
changed once the Chinese, specifically a man named Cai Lun, invented the prototype for modern
paper. Before Cai s breakthrough, the Chinese wrote on thin strips of bamboo and lengths of silk, but
in AD 105, he created a mixture of wood fibers and water and pressed it onto a woven cloth. The
weave in the cloth allowed the moisture in the pulpy mixture to seep out, resulting in rough paper.

Toilet Paper (Sui Dynasty: 581 618 AD) As noted above, paper was an early invention of China. One
of the first recorded accounts of using hygienic paper was

his hitting was the second best of his skills, so he knew he could make the team if he was weak in the
other skills. Then arrived to pitch, he struck out every guy that came up to bat for practice. Chris also
felt he was the most accurate pitcher there so his hopes of making the team were still strong.

Eve By Christina Rossetti
In A Daughter of Eve , Christina Rossetti describes a prostitute who regrets her decisions in the past;
this regret is sparked by her loss of virginity. Through the prostitute s perspective, Rossetti conveys
that a loss of innocence can lead to regret through her use of biblical references, contrast of time and
seasons, and evocative diction that helps augment her bitter tone of remorse.
Firstly, the title is a reference to the myth of Adam and Eve, the first man and woman and ancestors of
all human beings. The daughter of eve at first glance seems to represent the prostitute a female human.
Upon further thinking, it is likely that the title connects to how all women are prone to temptation,
much like how Eve was tempted to eat the apple. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the first stanza of the poem the speaker writes A fool I was to sleep at noon,/ And wake when night
is chilly (Rossetti 1 2) Noon is the time of the day when it is bright outside and has connotations to
innocence, whereas the chilly night has a negative connotation. This is especially supported in the next
line where the speaker describes the chilly night Beneath the comfortless cold moon; (Rossetti 3). This
further enforces the negative connotation of night. This contrast between night and day further
symbolizes the prostitute s loss of innocence and the remorse she feels. Furthermore, a similar scheme
can be seen in the second stanza where the speaker contrasts the seasons of summer and winter. She
recalls Oh it was summer when I slept,/ It s winter now I awaken. (Rossetti 9 10) Summer is typically
seen as a season of joy and winter is perceived as the cold season of despair. In line 11, Rossetti writes
Talk what you please of future spring (Rossetti 11). Spring is seen as the season of a new start; the
speaker regrets her decisions so much as to yearn for a new start. Moreover, Rossetti is trying to
express the pain and suffering that comes from the regretful

Kinesiology And Athletic Performance Analysis
In American culture being an athlete or a coach is a major aspect of many lives. What is even more
important than being an athlete or a coach is having a winning record. To achieve those winning
records, coaches tend to focus on the athletic performance aspect of kinesiology and not realize the
athlete is not the only factor when it comes to their athletic performance. Some of these factors
include coaching which can break down into the task/ mastery environment which are good for
athletes and ego environments which is typically more hostile, motivation which can either be intrinsic
or extrinsic, and anxiety which often comes with coping techniques. If the coach can understand all
aspects of kinesiology the relationship between the coach and ... Show more content on

State anxiety occurs during competition and decreases performances but interventions can decrease
cognitive and somatic anxiety (Prapavessis, Grove, McNair, Cable). Athletes can also attain anxiety
when they do not see their coaches as competent. For example, if a coach were to tell a soccer athlete
to do this and then they get hurt they would not trust them and be anxious doing any other directions
(Myers, Beauchamp, Chase, 2011). Since coaches are able to reduce an athlete s anxiety then, coaches
have the ability to create a positive atmosphere and in this study student athletes had an overall
positive view of their coaches ability to develop autonomy supportive team climates (Noble Forester,
2016). According to researcher s anxiety may be a predisposition but state anxiety is heavily
influenced by the motivational climate, more specifically ego environments athletes reported increases
in anxiety over the season (Smith, Smoll, Cumming, 2007). When athletes enter state anxiety many
have coping methods, and PPR may influence performance through lowering the athlete s anxiety
(Hazell, Cotterill, Hill, 2014) or even self talk (Miles Neil, 2013), but the success of using these
techniques would depend on the situation. However, some research suggests that regardless of
competition (good or bad) and sport (long duration/short duration) athletes reported an equal number
of experiences and implemented coping strategies (Nieuwenhuys, Vos, Pijpstra, Bakker, 2011). With
this conflicting research on how it effects athletes, there is research that states giving athletes CSAI 2
or sports oriented questionnaires can help both parties understand each other (Hall Kerr,

Ebola Disease Occurs In Humans And Nonhuman Primates
EBOLA FACT FILE
Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) is a severe and often fatal disease that can occur in humans and nonhuman
primates (such as monkeys and gorillas). The outbreaks of EVD occur predominantly in remote
villages in Central and West Africa, near tropical rainforests and where contact with animals is more
likely to take place. EVD is transmitted into the human population through close contact with the
blood, secretions, organs or other bodily fluids of infected animals (typically nonhuman primates and
fruit bats). Once a human is infected it spreads in the community through skin to skin contact, direct
contact with the bodily fluids of an infected individual, or contact with environments that are
contaminated with such fluids. The incubation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Diagnosing Ebola in an individual who has been infected for only a few days is difficult, as the early
symptoms such as a skin rash and fevers are nonspecific to the Ebola virus and are seen often in
patients with more commonly occurring diseases. This can cause the virus to develop so much that it
can no longer be treated and the high death toll is a direct result of this. Death of Ebola victims usually
occurs during the second week of Ebola symptoms and is mostly due to extreme blood loss.
Pathogenesis of Ebola
Treatment of Ebola
The standard treatment for Ebola is still limited to supportive therapy as no vaccines are yet available
for clinical use. The supportive therapy consists of balancing the patient s fluids and electrolytes,
maintaining the patient s oxygen status and blood pressure, and treating the patient for any
complicating infections. Treatment from the day the virus is contracted is important but extremely
challenging due to the fact that Ebola is very difficult to diagnose in its early stages of infection.
However, if a person has the early symptoms of Ebola and there is reason to believe that Ebola should
be considered it is extremely important that the patient is isolated

F. Scott Fitzgerald s Babylon Revisited
As one of the most well known writers of the 20th century, F. Scott Fitzgerald is noted for his work
revolving around the cultural dynamic of the 1920s. The author continues this topic trend in his short
story, Babylon Revisited. Instead of America, the story takes place in Paris just after the stock market
crash of 1929, contriubting to Fitzgerald s overall message. The protagonist, Charlie Wales, has
returned to France in hopes of regaining custody over his daughter. Fitzgerald developes an
international criticism of Americans lavish lifestyle in the infamous Roaring 20s through the
characters contrasting priorities, clever symbolism, and the format of the story itself. While his other
works critiquing 1920s American society was evident due in part to their local settings, Fitzgerald uses

Throughout the short story, Fitzgerald strategically incorporates statements that develop a contrast
between countries economic statuses and materialistic values of the time period. From Charlie s first
encounter with his in laws, the phrase American is used to describe anything, in the main character s
opinion, pleasent. For example, The room was warm and comfortably American, and She was a tall
women with worried eyes, who had once possessed a fresh American loveliness (677). Intentionally,
Fitzgerald does not use the term French as a complimentary adjective in order to emphasize the
glamorized idea of American opportunity and wealth of the twenties. He presents this difference in
cultural values more blatantly later as Charlie and his in laws discuss the guardianship of his daughter,
Honoria. After Charlie stops himself in the middle listing his

Toward A Recovery Of Nineteenth Century Farming Handbooks
Toward a Recovery of Nineteenth Century Farming Handbooks
While researching texts written about nineteenth century farming, I found a few authors who
published books about the literature of nineteenth century farming, particularly agricultural journals,
newspapers, pamphlets, and brochures. These authors often placed the farming literature they were
studying into an historical context by discussing the important events in agriculture of the year in
which the literature was published (see Demaree, for example). However, while these authors discuss
journals, newspapers, pamphlets, and brochures, I could not find much discussion about another
important source of farming knowledge: farming handbooks. My goal in this paper is to bring this
source into the agricultural literature discussion by connecting three agricultural handbooks from the
nineteenth century with nineteenth century agricultural history. To achieve this goal, I have organized
my paper into four main sections, two of which have sub sections. In the first section, I provide an
account of three important events in nineteenth century agricultural history: population and
technological changes, the distribution of scientific new knowledge, and farming s influence on
education. In the second section, I discuss three nineteenth century farming handbooks in connection
with the important events described in the first section. I end my paper with a third section that offers
research questions that could be answered in

Examples Of Satire Essay
Stupidity or Satire?
Laughter can be an instinctive expression of lively amusement although we don t usually realise the
offence of the joke we are laughing at. Tamara discusses modern satire and its position in humanity.
Sometimes the world we live in can be too blinded or careless to really discover the reasons why we
laugh at satirical comedy. Satire can be like a dream. When were in the dream we remember bits of
details and when we wake up we don t realise what our dream was about in the first place. Satire can
relate to this because as were watching satirical things were able to laugh at the subject of mockery
even when it can be so stupid, yet when we walk away from it we forget what we watch and keep

In our lecture for this unit, the speaker lays out several helpful guidlines for interpreting works written

The lecturer made the case that by reading and studying the interpretations of experienced interpreters,
we could grow as interpreters ourselves. While I have absolutely no problem with consulting the

Analyzing The Production Of Grapes
Viticulture examines the production of grapes. Viticulture takes into account everything outdoors,
including key factors such as geography, climate, soil, drainage, graftin¬¬g, the vine life cycle, and
harvest.
Geography: Mountainous terrain = water run off which helps with drainage.
Climate: Warm locations will produce sweeter and riper fruit, therefore creating sweet wine with high
alcohol content since these grapes are producing more sugar for the yeast to eat. When the climate is
cool, lower temperatures maintain the acidity and make it hard for grapes to ripen.
Soil: Dry, arid soil is critical since grapes don t do well in rich, organic soils. If wines receive a large
amount of nutrients, they go vegetative which is when grape ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Phylloxera is a microscopic, yellow sap sucking insect that feed on roots and leaves of grapevines.
This insect can infest a vineyard as a whole and ruin every vein on the property. It has had a huge
impact on the wine industry because it allowed for the introduction of grafting. Phylloxera kills
European vines therefore in order to grow European grapes on American soil one must graft a
European vine to an American root allowing for the different grape types to survive and thrive.
The 5 S s are important to take into account when tasting wines. Sight, Swirl, Smell, Sip and Spit are
essential to understand.
Sight: When first pouring a glass of wine, you want to hold it to a white background in order to have a
clear vision of the wines color. If a white wine has hints of green it indicates youth and acidity. Darker
shades indicate bolder flavors or the wine was held in a oak barrel. When viewing a red wine, less
color indicates aging and a subtle flavor. You can also determine age by the amber outer ring that is
present; if a wider ring is visible the wine is older.
Swirl: By tilting the glass, and swirling this action enhances the wines flavor and natural aroma.
Moreover when you swirl, legs and tears appear on the glass itself allowing for observation. If the
drippings are wide and slow it indicates a heavier wine, while

Interesting Features of Ancient Civilizations
Question: Try to imagine what it was like to live during that time and in that place. What was it that
caused the transition from Neolithic life to civilization? What were some of the major features of those
civilizations that you found interesting? One of the most interesting features of ancient civilizations
was the extent to which topography influenced cultural worldviews and practices. For example, in the
case of the Sumerians, they possessed a highly evolved and complex culture, as manifested in the
philosophical depth of their Epic of Gilgamesh. However, the openness of the land in which they lived
to invaders made them vulnerable as did the propensity of the land to catastrophic flooding. This may
be one of the reasons why they did not create as politically and architecturally complex a society as
Egypt or Greece. It also likely affected the relatively dark worldview expressed in Gilgamesh.
However, despite the susceptibility to invasions, subsequent civilizations in the area, like the
Babylonians, created ways of tracking the stars and other valuable methods of observing and
interpreting the world in a scientific fashion that were to become the building blocks of modern
civilization in other areas. In contrast to Mesopotamia, Egypt had the advantage of a regular,
predictable source of fertilization of its soil in the form of the Nile. This stable source of food enabled
the creation of one of the world s great empires. The pharaoh was responsible for all

Thread And Balance By Timothy Tapestry
Thread and Balance
In a small town many years ago, the Tapestry family walked to work enjoying the simple pleasures
that the morning offered. Timothy Tapestry was a tall man with blond hair and a subdued face. He had
lived in this town his whole life, and just like any other morning, he gazed happily at the hills in the
distance. Ever since he was young, Timothy had marveled at how the sun lit up those hills in the
morning, and since he was a creature of habit, he did the same today.
Past his thoughts, and in a world of her own, Adeline Tapestry walked with her husband to work. She
too enjoyed the morning, but for reasons other than its routine. Adeline had an easy smile, and

Even as they said yes, a cloud of doubt covered their hearts, because they knew full well that three

With these deadlines in mind, the king began. We bid you farewell. He then raised his hand to wave
goodbye, and the royal parade began to leave. A mixture of joy and anxiety rushed through Timothy
and Adeline as the king and queen left. For although the Tapestrys were well known for their quality
products, it always took them a while to actually fabricate their orders. They would have to work
quickly, and precisely to overcome their time constraints.
Once the crowd had finally dispersed, the Tapestrys let themselves into their shop. It was a homey
place that told comforting stories through its exposed beams, and crackling fireplace. Immediately
they began to pull out different fabrics, and patterns trying to decide what would best suit King
Leonardo, and his wife Queen Alisha. Ideas were shared and compromises made, so that in the end it

Disadvantages Of Lean Manufacturing
2 LEAN MANUFACTURING:
As per Womack, Jones, and Roos (1990), the expression Lean speaks to a framework that uses less
input with a specific end goal to make the same yields than those made by a conventional large scale
manufacturing framework, while expanding the scope of various completed merchandise for the end
client. The term lean manufacturing is synonymous with various names, for example, agile
manufacturing, just in time manufacturing, synchronous manufacturing, world class manufacturing,
and continuous flow (serial production).
Lean manufacturing is an operational procedure arranged toward accomplishing the most limited
conceivable process duration by wiping out waste. It is gotten from the Toyota production system and
its goal is to expand the worth included work by taking out squanders and decreasing superfluous
work. The method frequently diminishes the time between a client request and shipment, and it is
intended to enhance benefit, consumer loyalty, throughput time, and worker inspiration. The
advantages of lean manufacturing for the most part are lower costs, higher quality, and shorter lead
times. The term lean manufacturing is made to speak to less human exertion in the organization, less

Waste, or MUDA, is anything that adds expense to the item without including esteem. Squanders can
be arranged into seven classes:
1. Waste of overproducing: Producing components that are neither intended for stock nor planned for
sale immediately.
2. Waste of waiting: Refers to the idle time between operations.
3. Waste of transport: Moving material more than necessary.
4. Waste of processing: Doing more to the product than necessary and the customer is willing to

An Analysis Of Eastin s Style Of Writing
Eastin s style of writing is very focused on characters and how they interact. Every single one of his
characters possesses unique traits and personalities. He somehow manages to create characters that the
audience strives to be, and yet they are all pretty normal people. Take Neal Caffrey for example. He is
the main character of White Collar and a pretty normal person. He turns from his life of crime and
seeks a home, friends, and family (Eastin). The audience wants to be like him not because of the life
he was given, but because of the life he creates for himself through hard work and reform. There is
rarely a scene focusing solely on one character. The many interactions between characters make the
show feel alive and buzzing with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the show, they grow closer and Neal tries to put his life of crime behind him and start a
new life in New York with the bureau (Eastin). Throughout the series, Neal betrays Peter s trust time
and time again despite their friendship. Although Neal has good intentions, the audience knows what
he is doing is wrong. That doesn t matter, though, as the audience still finds themselves rooting for
Neal. His character has such a unique personality it almost feels real. Neal Caffrey has been sculpted
so magnificently that by the end of the show he is like a friend to many viewers. Eastin said the thing
that gives Neal his allure is They get to where they re going by sheer force of personality. Neal is
someone you could easily hate, but I think Matt Bomer brings so much boyish charm to him that you
end up liking the guy despite that. (Shattuck). In a way, Neal has conned the audience into liking him,
but nobody seems to mind. Peter Burke, Eastin s alter ego , transforms throughout the show, each
season growing more compassionate and less strict. Neal convinces him that the way to justice is
sometimes blocked by corruption in the FBI and other agencies, and they work together to skirt
around that corruption and make a difference in the world (Shattuck). The whole idea for White Collar
came from a hot tub with Jeff Eastin and his friend, Travis Romero. Eastin wanted to pursue a show
about white collar crime because he thought it was the one place

Creating Engaging Literacy Lesson Plan
Creating engaging literacy lesson plans takes a combination of effective instruction and material
interesting to students. Knowing your students is essential in the planning and implementing of any
lesson to ensure it reaches all students .Reading Comprehension: What Every Teacher Needs to Know,
states Influential teachers are highly valued participants in the reading process. They know the
importance of every student comprehending successfully. (McLaughlin,2012 p. 433). Ensuring all
students have the opportunity to learn and comprehend the information presented in a lesson is
important to lesson creation. Creating and implementing a reading/writing lesson for this course, took
some extra care and a planning. Using literacy based instruction practices in combination with STEM
education proved to be very helpful as well as engaging to my students.
I feel this lesson motivated students to read more informational texts. By reading this story, students
were intrigued about the other different kinds of boats there are and how they are made and work. This
also encouraged students to use a fictional text to learn about real world items. One student asked
what other kinds of books we could read to inspire us to build things. We discussed finding a story
about cars or buildings and then using different materials to create our own versions. This lesson also
introduced students to a way of applying what they learned from a fictional text, to other subjects, in

Polytetrafluoroethylene
Polymers have been changing the way we live for over 100 years. Their availability and diverse
qualities ensure that they are always in high demand, and new polymers are always being discovered.
Where does this leave the now commonplace polymers which once were ubiquitous in commerce?
Polymers such as polyoxybenzylmethylenglycolanhydride (Bakelite) and polytetrafluoroethylene
(PTFE) were first synthesised in 1907 and 1938 respectively, making them old by polymer standards.
Although the original polymer applications are now redundant, they have found uses in new areas of
society. This dynamic aspect of polymers is due to their unique structure. Polymers are created from

It was discovered in the 60s that a reaction between PTFE and magnesium produced a violent and
exothermic reaction. This occurred because magnesium is a highly reactive metal, which when
burned, gives of an intense, white light. (S.I.F., 2013) In addition, magnesium emits infrared when
burned, making it ideal for military use as a decoy flare. However, magnesium requires an oxidiser a
material that takes electrons from the fuel allowing the reaction to take place. This is why flares are
made of PTFE and magnesium, as it is the fluorine in PTFE that allows the reaction to take place.
Fluorine is a proficient oxidiser, more so than oxygen, as it contains more gaps for valence electrons,
allowing the reaction to obtain a higher temperature of combustion. Figure 6 shows magnesium s
preference for reacting with the fluorine in teflon over oxygen to form MgF2(l), a discovery made in
an experiment undertaken by L.V. de Yong and K.J. Smit in

Quality is also specified in the internal process. This process needs to be measure and comparable to
the acceptable ranges in production to develop a product that fulfil the specifications and it also
requires the participation from everyone in the organization . (Maguad, 2006)
4. What are the underlying causes of the problems at Executive Holloware?
There are some problems presented in the EH case of study. First, the products developed by the
company are high value tea sets items, thus the necessity to maintain a standard performance to
produce a product without any defect. One cause of the problem is that there is no specific definition
of defect in the entire process. It is mentioned that the senior shop foreman does not have a clear
understanding of defect definition and this affect the correct performance of the entire process because
it represent in re working cost.
Other cause of problem is that each department does not maintain a close communication about the
relevance of the quality in the process. Paul realized that each department blame each other regarding
to the scratches and bruises of the product. Even the finance director did not has a clear vision of the
situation, therefore the lack of communication and process internal control
In the Organization, there were no specification clearly defined of quality and the metrics of quality

In addition, Mr. Bennington said he wanted to be perfectly candid. He said that after the car accident
he failed to keep as close a watch on the business as he should have. Mr. Bennington admitted that he
felt ill at ease in the field of marketing and felt the company would need strong direction in that area.
He went on to say that Will should be a natural to manage this type of business.
After skimming the material, Will became increasingly enthused about the possibility of owning and
managing this motel. He knew there were many additional questions he would need to ask in his next
phone conversation. At the moment, the most exciting part was the possibility of living in Colorado
and being his own boss. Will knew he would have to develop a list of penetrating questions to ask Mr.
Bennington and also knew he needed to study the financial sheets in detail. That could come later. For
the moment, Will was picturing himself on the slopes of Colorado s beautiful mountains gracefully
skimming down the snow.
Questions:

Bob sufficient motivation to do something to make the boss and department look good .
Also, Beverly shows a supportive leadership which is similar to consideration leadership. Particularly,
leaders use this type of leadership to boost the confidence of their employees and to reduce boredom
and increase job satisfaction. In this case, Beverly creates an atmosphere that makes Bob would like to
call on her when he encountered some questions because she was happy to help him to deal with these
problems.
Moreover, the delegating style is another characteristic which means the leaders set the overall goals
but turn day to day decision making over to the employees. Obviously, in this case, Beverly would
like to set the overall goal and give the responsibility for Bob to do some decision by himself rather
than decide by herself. In this way, both a good leader member relationship and the position power are
strong. This is partly because the members like the leader, trust the leader, have confidence in the
leader, and generally have positive feelings about the leader, then leader member relations are good.
Also, the leader s position power is strong because the leader has the authority to hire and fire group
members, make pay raises, give bonuses or other financial rewards, and distribute various perks,

Multiprotocol Label Switching Essay
This paper will discuss one of the most popular and successful networking technologies in recent
memory. This technology is known as Multiprotocol Label Switching, or MPLS. Inspired by Ipsilon
Networks, developed by Cisco, and standardized by the IETF, this service has become a dominant
competitor. Independent think tank, Nemertes Research has estimated that nearly eighty five percent
of companies are already using MPLS today. Multiprotocol Label switching works at layer 2 and is a
new, alternative WAN service. Although it significantly differs from more traditional WAN
implementations, the creators were considerate of interoperability. Thus, MPLS is compatible with

MPLS encapsulated PDUs move through a WAN via Label Switched Paths (LSPs), which are similar
to Frame Relay s virtual circuits. PDUs with closely related paths are grouped into Forwarding
Equivalence classes (FECs). FECs are not synonymous with LSPs, as multiple FECs often traverse the
same LSP. Regular interior routing protocols are present on the WAN, but only to spread topology
data so that LSPs can be created. They are not involved in individual forwarding decisions. Traffic
engineering extensions can even be added to create backup LSPs and provide QoS.
MPLS has many advantages over competitive services. It was originally developed as a faster
technique for moving data between LANs. Since only a single router has to fully inspect incoming
traffic, and all others are merely reacting to the conclusions of this original inspection, speed is
improved from the paradigm. However many advancements in hardware have somewhat closed the
gap on this difference. Nonetheless, MPLS remains a fair choice for those who wish to optimize the
speed of their network, and it has many things to offer beyond that original intent. The Multiprotocol
part of it s name is important in explaining many of these perks. What is meant by multiprotocol is
that it s compatible with any network layer protocol. And not only that, it s also friendly with other
WAN services such as Frame Relay and ATM. This means that any existing legacy networks or variant
adjacent WANs will play well

The Push for Cone-Beam Computed Tomography
Dentistry is a field of exactness and the upmost precision. Today, most dentist continue to use the
limited 2D plaster models that only show the teeth and gums from a lateral position showing only the
outside and the inside of the mouth. Plaster models tend to only show the visible, apparent problems
that may be wrong with a patient but cannot effectively showcase the many other possibilities that
may be causing a patient to have malocclusions and misalignments of the jaw. Cone beam computed
tomography shows the roots of the teeth with precision while also displaying the bones in the head so
that any anomaly can easily be noticed and allow for easier work. There have also been specific
studies to determine how each person varies in their nasal passages and how this can cause certain
problems in each case. Overall, Cone Beam Computed Tomography proves to be the best option for
orthodontists to use because it accurately scans the facial structure and teeth allowing for the ultimate
amount of precision by orthodontists when dealing with the amount of space teeth need to be moved
and compare that with the forces particularly required to achieve a satisfactory product. With this
being said, Cone Beam Computed Tomography should be pushed widespread into the field of
Orthodontics so that in cases of great complexity patients with the proper health can be properly
helped with their situations. This technology can successfully bring the accuracy into the field needed

Power In Hesiod s Theogony
In Hesiod s Theogony, the Greek family relationships were often a repeated cycle between the

The Han Art Analysis
In ancient times, art was often made to become a burial object for the tomb of a respected individual.
The Chinese are apart of this tradition and this mingqi or spirit object of a dog belongs to the religious
concept of following the deceased into the afterlife. The artist of Mingqi (standing dog) is unknown
but the period of the artwork falls around 250 to 200 BCE, during the Han Dynasty. Though much is
unknown or undefined about this work, the visual components reveal the aim behind the artist s
choices. The Han artist focuses on the media, ceramic techniques, and composition to fulfill the role of
a protection vessel.
Mingqi (standing dog) is a clay figurine of a dog standing on all fours. The dog s mouth is agape and
the ears point upwards. The clay has carved eyes and whiskers while a harness and curled tail remain
raised. Beneath the tail, a circular hole is present while a less intentional hole lies underneath, on the

Media s Perception Of Plastic Surgery
Plastic surgery has been a hot button issue in recent years because of the debate of how far procedures
can and should go. TV shows like Botched highlight how plastic surgeries can go wrong and make
someone look fake, but that is a rarer scenario than media perceives it to be. Because of media s
prevalence in our lives, we see plastic surgery as fake and those who seek it faker. Not all the people
who seek plastic surgery are doing it in vain. They are seeking to better themselves. The truth is media
pushes a negative impact on the perception of plastic surgery and hides the benefits plastic surgery can
have.
Celebrities like Ariel Winter from ABC s Modern Family face ridicule within the plastic surgery
debate as described by Winter in an interview with Glamour magazine. Winter, at the age of 17, faced
societal pressure to do something about her size F breasts (Radloff 1). Winter described her situation
in the eye of the media as having so little to wear that s age appropriate which would lead to backlash
for dressing too maturely in form fitting clothes (qtd. in Radloff 3). Social media has its own mockery.
Winter described it as The Internet bullies are awful. I could post a photo where I feel good, and 500
people will comment about how fat I am and that I am disgusting (qtd. in Radloff 3). Winters felt as
though the media targeted her based off of her appearance rather than her accomplishments as a young
actress (qtd. in Radloff 4). This behavior by media is troublesome because it leads to people outside of
high publicity criticizing themselves and others based off of appearance, not character.
People in high publicity positions are shamed by media outlets for even discussing the idea of a
cosmetic procedure. Joan Kron, director and producer of the documentary about plastic surgery and
comediennes Take My Nose ... Please! talks about why celebrities are not quick to share their plastic

Reflective Essay On Practicum Experience
I am writing this reflection essay based on one of my experiences while on practicum. Between
myself, fellow student, a patient (Mr X) and my Student Nurse Educator (SNE). On the Orthopaedic
ward. Using the Gibbs refection cycle (Gibbs, 1988). Description Myself and a fellow student were
asked if we would like to give Mr X a bed bath. I said yes. It was done under the supervision of our
SNE. Mr X had come out of surgery that day, he had a spinal operation and was not allowed to sit up
any further than what he was or be moved too much in either direction. Upon entering Mr X s room I
washed my hands, pulled the curtains, introduced myself, as well as letting Mr X know what I was
there to do and asked for his consent (New Zealand, 2013). I asked ... Show more content on

I think I struggled with conversion as I have a fear of saying something incorrect. That is something I
need to work on as I have always been that way and I find it is very frustrating at times. Furthermore,
when I was told about Mr X having had spinal surgery I think that I should have spoken up and said to
my SNE could we please have a bit more of a briefing on Mr X condition, from the registered nurse
that was assigned to Mr X about what I can and cannot do with him. Also, to know anything else that
they think might be important to know. Such as if he is moved to much he will vomit. Which is why
he had a vomit bowl handy throughout the bed bath. Conclusion The overall experience was a positive
one I felt it went well and the Mr X was happy with his bed bath. I could have made more of an
attempt to talking to Mr X and to have spoken up wanting to know more about his condition. I realised
that I need not be so nervous. I also need to work on my conversational skills. Action plan As part of
an action plan I will read up on effective communication (Jones, 2012). Equally important, is to find
techniques to aid with my nerviness. If the situation arose again I would be incline to ask more about
the patient such as how and whether to move them or not. As well as strive to fight the

Essay On Advantages And Disadvantages Of Rome
The Dominating Advantages of Rome The small city of Rome emerged as a city state right around 600
BC and was located in the Latium region in the Italian Peninsula. On its way to eventually dominating
the entire peninsula, it is documented that Rome had a few advantages that gave them the upper hand.
Some of these advantages were geographical location, outside influence, innate culture characteristics,
and their military power. They started as a tiny city state (a city and its territory separated from other
countries) and over the course of around three hundred years they expanded and began to conquer
nearby territories and eventually conquered the entirety of the Italian Peninsula. In the 6th Century BC
the main way to transfer and trade goods was through physically transporting said goods. Two of the
main ways to do this was through land and maritime commerce. A very unique thing about the city
state of Rome was its geographical location in respect to roads and routes for ships. Virtually every
land road in Latium converged into Rome. Rome s centralized location on the coast was a prime
position seeing as weary seamen had a perfect hub to stop, rest, and trade. Having that much traffic
from land travellers and boats carrying goods from hard to reach countries gave Rome a distinct
advantage over any other region, let alone another city state on the Italian Peninsula. This gave Rome
access to goods and that surrounding regions did not possess. In having these new

Mesopotamia Vs Egypt
Mesopotamia and Egypt two ancient civilization who have so much in common, yet are also different
in many ways. These two civilization both share geographic characteristics. Even though
Mesopotamia was brought up in 5000 BCE a whole 1900 years before Egypt, they both used similar
techniques to grow their civilization to what they were. (Acrobatiq, 2014) Like Egypt, the
Mesopotamia also was founded by a river, or rivers. The Tigris and Euphrates Rivers not only
surround Mesopotamia but gave the civilization its name, Mesopotamia which come from two Greek
words mean middle and river or, land between the rivers. The Tigris and Euphrates Rivers would flood
the plains of Mesopotamia and once the flooding receded it left behind a sediment known

Cultural Artifacts In The Wizard Of Oz
Cultural Artifacts
My first work is the American film, The Wizard of Oz, directed by Viktor Fleming. The film was
released in 1939 and is also a musical. The screenplay was written by Noel Langley, Florence
Ryerson, and Edgar Allan Woolf. The music was written and composed by Herbert Rosson. The film
is based on the book, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, written by L. Frank Baum. It is set at the turn of
the 20th century in Kansas and then in the Land of Oz. My second work is the book, The Lion, The
Witch and The Wardrobe, written by the English writer, C.S. Lewis and published in 1950. It is the
Scholastic edition from 1995. The book is set during World War Two in the English country side and
then then magical world of Narnia where time is different and therefore cannot be compared to any
time period of the real world.
Common Theme
The common theme I will be exploring is Good vs. Evil . The theme is expressed in The Wizard of Oz
throughout the movie through the use of the antagonist, the Wicked Witch of the West pursuing the
main character, Dorothy, for the shoes she wears (Fleming LeRoy, 1939). The Wicked Witch wants the
shoes for herself because they hold great power, but also because they belonged to her sister, The
Wicked Witch of the East (Fleming LeRoy, 1939). However, Glinda The Good Witch of the North,
gifts them to Dorothy after she traveled to Oz, in her house and through a cyclone (Fleming LeRoy,
1939). The house landed on the Wicked Witch of the East and

A Farewell Of Arms, By Ernest Hemingway
Major events throughout history have resulted from human desire for fulfillment by instituting war,
preaching religion, and glorifying love. In A Farewell to Arms, Ernest Hemingway introduces Frederic
Henry, an American in the Italian Army during World War I. Frederic Henry s attempts to find his
meaning in life, are represented by his attempts to discover the possibilities in war, religion, and love.
He does this through his friendship with a Catholic priest, his intense love affair with nurse Catherine
Barkley, who ends up pregnant with his child and eventually dies during labor, along with their child,
and finally with his position as Lieutenant during the war. Throughout A Farewell to Arms, Ernest
Hemingway repeatedly mentions games in war, love, and religion, to illustrate his belief that humans
use these as a way to play with and hopefully reach fulfillment but also use them as a distraction from
the inevitable ending: death.
Hemingway s repeated allusions to games in war, and his portrayal of Henry s attitude about war from
beginning to end of the novel shift dramatically; illustrating that war is used as a tool or a game by
humans to enrich their lives and avoid death, while systematically stealing the lives of others. From
disinterest, to realization, and finally reflection, Henry experiences diverse changes in his ideals
concerning war. At first Henry decides that I would not be killed... It did not have anything to do with
me stating his detachment from the

Exploring The Earth
The origins and improvement of scientific knowledge can be discovered by investigating children s
understanding of the earth. (Panagiotaki, et al, 2006) This report will focus on how children respond to
the shape of the Earth, which is an analysis and partly replication of the result of the experiment done
by Vosniadou Brewer in 1992. According to their research, by interpreting everyday experience,
children initially believe that the earth is a flat object. Some think that our earth is flat and rectangular
while others assume that it is flat and shaped like a disc. Then, during the process of knowledge
acquirement, children are exposed to the socially accepted knowledge that the Earth is spherical.
Nonetheless, because of the influence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Frède et al, 2011). In another case study, it is reported that age is a crucial foreteller and children aged
10 and above gain a considerable amount of scientific knowledge of the earth. (Straatemeir et al,
2008) This is due to the fact that when children get older, they will have more scientifically correct
knowledge of the earth. Additionally, they also state that age exerts a huge influence on the
consistency of children s answers. This is attributed to the fact that the consistency was lower for
younger children. (Straatemeier et al, 2008). The more knowledgeable the children are, the more
consistent their answers are.
Besides, children s understanding of the form of the earth is associated significantly with gender
differences. Previous case studies have expressed that boys are better at scientific knowledge,
including the understanding of the structure of our earth than girls. Straatemeir (2008) argues that the
boys are supposed to have a considerably higher consistency mark as did the girls. (0.60 and 0.18
respectively) In addition to that, it is suggested that males have the wider knowledge of scientific
problems. When working in a group, males are likely to be not only more clear headed but also more
confident and informative than their female peers while mentioning scientific matters. Moreover, this
finding remains unchanged

Essay Comparing Popol Vuh And The Odyssey
Popol Vuh and The Odyssey are epic stories that are considered, cultural touchstones; they dramatize
the life of a nation and help bind it together (Lawall, 3076). The two stories both form a connection to
the culture of Mayan, Popol Vuh, and Greek, The Odyssey, partly through the monsters that preside in
each epic. Because of the detailed descriptions of monsters or evil people and the known information
pertaining to each story s culture, the two can be connected. Therefore, Popol Vuh and The Odyssey
are comparable by cultures through the monsters that each story depicts. The monsters in Popol Vuh,
known as the lords of the underworld, are extremely important to Mayan Culture. In the cycle of tales
that comprises Part 3, the most celebrated portion of the Popol Vuh, Hunahpu and Xblanque vanquish
the lords of the Maya underworld, called Xibalba (a term of obscure etymology, provisionally
translated place of fright ). This material, likewise, is Central American and quintessentially Mayan.
Scenes from the story are preserved on painted vases of the classic period, recovered by archaeologists
from Maya burial chambers. Evidently, the sequence of events, in which the heroes twin fathers, One
Hunahpu and Seven Hunahpu, are undone by Xibalba and are ultimately ... Show more content on

greatest temptation of all: immortality. In refusing, Odysseus chooses the human condition, with all its
struggle, its disappointments, and its inevitable end. And the end, death, is ever present. But he hangs
on tenaciously and, in the midst of his ordeals, he is sent living to the world of the dead to see for
himself what death means. (Lawall,

Independent Vs Blockbuster Research Paper
Ever since the Supreme Court handed down the Paramount decision the film industry has been open to
everyone, not just large studios. The advent of such freedom in the business caused many smaller
entities to produce small budget films which packed a big punch. To counter this new wave large
studios had to find a moneymaking venture that the smaller producers couldn t go up against; namely
blockbuster films. This created the venue that s still in the forefront today, the blockbuster versus the
independent. Independent film, created outside of the normal studio format, is one of the best ways
that smaller budgeted producers can bring their ideas to market. Born not of the major but of the minor
independent film is a more intimate way of portraying concepts on the screen. Usually made with a
higher refined standard and better acting independent film can provide an ... Show more content on

The Horror genre is a very good example of a section which straddles the line between both
blockbuster and independent. The Blair Witch Project was a small budget film made on hand held
cameras for a little over half a million dollars. Event Horizon was a blockbuster made for the towering
price of 60 million. Both movies were unbelievably brutal in their ability to scare people through use
of camera techniques and excellent acting. Suspense and the methods of violence were very similar
with an unseen antagonist pursuing the main characters ultimately most to their death. The Blair Witch
Project was able to provide a wide audience a sense of impending doom through suspenseful acting
and editing. The movie provided the viewer with point of view access to on screen happenings,
putting the viewer in the middle of the action. The sense of unknowing was very strong, giving the
viewer enough ammunition to let their imagination run

The Early Childhood Education Of Literacy And Numeracy
Introduction Literacy and numeracy are the most vital skills for any individual in modern society. The
early childhood education of literacy and numeracy is of great importance to not only intellectual
growth but also to emotional and social development in later years. Literacy is one of the fundamental
ability for one to be able to make sense of text, signs, books, and modern technologies. Numeracy
includes aspects such as number sense, computation, measurement, and geometry, which are all vital
to one s daily and professional life. The first few years of one s life is the key period to establish
literacy and numeracy as one s brain development is at its peak in this period, and the better the
foundation of literacy and numeracy is, the more likely one is going to successful in academic and
social performance in later years. Also as a social experience, literacy and numeracy education is
greatly influenced by one s social environment, or in early childhood settings, one s family
environment. Bronfenbrenner s (1979) ecological systems theory is the foundation of ecological and
sociocultural guideline of literacy and numeracy education in early childhood settings. The theory are
essentially a set of interconnected and yet isomorphic layers of systems that affect the development of
the children from a social aspect, e.g. the microsystem describes the interaction between the carer and
the child, mesosystem describes the interactions between the family and the teacher,

  • 2. Indigenous Rights 2. What are some recent events in the news that deal with indigenous rights? How do they relate to the module? I m sure most people have followed the news on the Dakota Access Pipeline and the Keystone XL Pipeline, this may even be the largest (recent) news event that is involved with indigenous rights. However, there are several other recent news events that cover indigenous rights within the United States in particular. Many of these news events revolve around land (monument statuses, and rightly ownership), and cultural appropriation. These factors play into the larger scheme of structural violence and general perceptions of Native American people. First, I d like to give a little background on the pipelines for those who may be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rather, as Garrett and Pichette would explain, legislative measures were clever and would go on to force Native Americans to conform to the structures of White American (Garrett and Pichette). So what does this second example have to do with modern events? The piece was written on attempting to return land that was forcibly taken from the Native Americans, in this case the Lenape. An activist for Native American rights would go on to buy a building in Manhattan with the hopes of restoring it into a prayer house, which would be owned and operated by the Lenape Nation. This decision was not without some controversy, as this person had made Mr. Van Dunk the recipient of the gesture/gift (Kilgannon). Mr. Van Dunk was a prior chief of the Lenape Nation, who had been criticized for how he handled tribe finances and business. Mr. Van Dunk has since been barred from the nation by a tribal vote (Kilgannon). Thus, people feel he is an inappropriate recipient. This particular article relates to the land ownership and rights of Native American tribes, that have often been neglected. Lastly, there s also been an article regarding the promises of the coal industry made to some tribes. These tribes have been said to be relying on Trump s promises regarding the revitalization of the coal industry. The coal industry for several tribes serves as a means of ... The fatty acids in the phospholipid are hydrophobic and the phosphate head is hydrophilic and it is outwards and the tail is inwards, this causes to create the cell membrane. Triglycerides Triglycerides contain three fatty acids and glycerol molecule, whereas phospholipids have two fatty acids and a phosphate group. Triglycerides stop the loss of heat by insulation and they have ester bonds. Ancient Chinese Contributions Ancient Chinese Contributions Kenneth Smith Professor Maxine Brown HUM 111 World Cultures I November 29, 2012 The Ancient Chinese culture has contributed in many ways to the way of life today as we know it. Upon completion of this paper, I will have identified eight to ten useful inventions or contributions that are used in the world today. Some of these inventions include the compass, gunpowder, row planting, deep drilling, and toilet paper and so on. Within those eight to ten inventions, I will choose four that I believe are the most innovative. It also makes a handy explosive for projectiles like bullets. (Josh Clark) Paper Once language begins to develop, though, humans wrote on anything that would stand still long enough. Clay tablets, bamboo, papyrus and stone were only a few of the early writing surfaces. Things changed once the Chinese, specifically a man named Cai Lun, invented the prototype for modern paper. Before Cai s breakthrough, the Chinese wrote on thin strips of bamboo and lengths of silk, but in AD 105, he created a mixture of wood fibers and water and pressed it onto a woven cloth. The weave in the cloth allowed the moisture in the pulpy mixture to seep out, resulting in rough paper. • 8. Eve By Christina Rossetti In A Daughter of Eve , Christina Rossetti describes a prostitute who regrets her decisions in the past; this regret is sparked by her loss of virginity. Through the prostitute s perspective, Rossetti conveys that a loss of innocence can lead to regret through her use of biblical references, contrast of time and seasons, and evocative diction that helps augment her bitter tone of remorse. Firstly, the title is a reference to the myth of Adam and Eve, the first man and woman and ancestors of all human beings. The daughter of eve at first glance seems to represent the prostitute a female human. Upon further thinking, it is likely that the title connects to how all women are prone to temptation, much like how Eve was tempted to eat the apple. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the first stanza of the poem the speaker writes A fool I was to sleep at noon,/ And wake when night is chilly (Rossetti 1 2) Noon is the time of the day when it is bright outside and has connotations to innocence, whereas the chilly night has a negative connotation. This is especially supported in the next line where the speaker describes the chilly night Beneath the comfortless cold moon; (Rossetti 3). This further enforces the negative connotation of night. This contrast between night and day further symbolizes the prostitute s loss of innocence and the remorse she feels. Furthermore, a similar scheme can be seen in the second stanza where the speaker contrasts the seasons of summer and winter. She recalls Oh it was summer when I slept,/ It s winter now I awaken. (Rossetti 9 10) Summer is typically seen as a season of joy and winter is perceived as the cold season of despair. In line 11, Rossetti writes Talk what you please of future spring (Rossetti 11). Spring is seen as the season of a new start; the speaker regrets her decisions so much as to yearn for a new start. • 11. Kinesiology And Athletic Performance Analysis In American culture being an athlete or a coach is a major aspect of many lives. What is even more important than being an athlete or a coach is having a winning record. To achieve those winning records, coaches tend to focus on the athletic performance aspect of kinesiology and not realize the athlete is not the only factor when it comes to their athletic performance. Some of these factors include coaching which can break down into the task/ mastery environment which are good for athletes and ego environments which is typically more hostile, motivation which can either be intrinsic or extrinsic, and anxiety which often comes with coping techniques. If the coach can understand all aspects of kinesiology the relationship between the coach and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... State anxiety occurs during competition and decreases performances but interventions can decrease cognitive and somatic anxiety (Prapavessis, Grove, McNair, Cable). Athletes can also attain anxiety when they do not see their coaches as competent. For example, if a coach were to tell a soccer athlete to do this and then they get hurt they would not trust them and be anxious doing any other directions (Myers, Beauchamp, Chase, 2011). Since coaches are able to reduce an athlete s anxiety then, coaches have the ability to create a positive atmosphere and in this study student athletes had an overall positive view of their coaches ability to develop autonomy supportive team climates (Noble Forester, 2016). According to researcher s anxiety may be a predisposition but state anxiety is heavily influenced by the motivational climate, more specifically ego environments athletes reported increases in anxiety over the season (Smith, Smoll, Cumming, 2007). When athletes enter state anxiety many have coping methods, and PPR may influence performance through lowering the athlete s anxiety (Hazell, Cotterill, Hill, 2014) or even self talk (Miles Neil, 2013), but the success of using these techniques would depend on the situation. However, some research suggests that regardless of competition (good or bad) and sport (long duration/short duration) athletes reported an equal number of experiences and implemented coping strategies (Nieuwenhuys, Vos, Pijpstra, Bakker, 2011). With this conflicting research on how it effects athletes, there is research that states giving athletes CSAI 2 or sports oriented questionnaires can help both parties understand each other (Hall Kerr, ... • 13. Ebola Disease Occurs In Humans And Nonhuman Primates EBOLA FACT FILE Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) is a severe and often fatal disease that can occur in humans and nonhuman primates (such as monkeys and gorillas). The outbreaks of EVD occur predominantly in remote villages in Central and West Africa, near tropical rainforests and where contact with animals is more likely to take place. EVD is transmitted into the human population through close contact with the blood, secretions, organs or other bodily fluids of infected animals (typically nonhuman primates and fruit bats). Once a human is infected it spreads in the community through skin to skin contact, direct contact with the bodily fluids of an infected individual, or contact with environments that are contaminated with such fluids. The incubation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Diagnosing Ebola in an individual who has been infected for only a few days is difficult, as the early symptoms such as a skin rash and fevers are nonspecific to the Ebola virus and are seen often in patients with more commonly occurring diseases. This can cause the virus to develop so much that it can no longer be treated and the high death toll is a direct result of this. Death of Ebola victims usually occurs during the second week of Ebola symptoms and is mostly due to extreme blood loss. Pathogenesis of Ebola Treatment of Ebola The standard treatment for Ebola is still limited to supportive therapy as no vaccines are yet available for clinical use. The supportive therapy consists of balancing the patient s fluids and electrolytes, maintaining the patient s oxygen status and blood pressure, and treating the patient for any complicating infections. Treatment from the day the virus is contracted is important but extremely challenging due to the fact that Ebola is very difficult to diagnose in its early stages of infection. Scott Fitzgerald is noted for his work revolving around the cultural dynamic of the 1920s. The author continues this topic trend in his short story, Babylon Revisited. Instead of America, the story takes place in Paris just after the stock market crash of 1929, contriubting to Fitzgerald s overall message. The protagonist, Charlie Wales, has returned to France in hopes of regaining custody over his daughter. Fitzgerald developes an international criticism of Americans lavish lifestyle in the infamous Roaring 20s through the characters contrasting priorities, clever symbolism, and the format of the story itself. While his other works critiquing 1920s American society was evident due in part to their local settings, Fitzgerald uses a foreign country in Babylon Revisited to denounce the cultural phase in another ... Intentionally, Fitzgerald does not use the term French as a complimentary adjective in order to emphasize the glamorized idea of American opportunity and wealth of the twenties. • 15. Toward A Recovery Of Nineteenth Century Farming Handbooks Toward a Recovery of Nineteenth Century Farming Handbooks While researching texts written about nineteenth century farming, I found a few authors who published books about the literature of nineteenth century farming, particularly agricultural journals, newspapers, pamphlets, and brochures. These authors often placed the farming literature they were studying into an historical context by discussing the important events in agriculture of the year in which the literature was published (see Demaree, for example). However, while these authors discuss journals, newspapers, pamphlets, and brochures, I could not find much discussion about another important source of farming knowledge: farming handbooks. My goal in this paper is to bring this source into the agricultural literature discussion by connecting three agricultural handbooks from the nineteenth century with nineteenth century agricultural history. To achieve this goal, I have organized my paper into four main sections, two of which have sub sections. In the first section, I provide an account of three important events in nineteenth century agricultural history: population and technological changes, the distribution of scientific new knowledge, and farming s influence on education. In the second section, I discuss three nineteenth century farming handbooks in connection with the important events described in the first section. I end my paper with a third section that offers research questions that could be answered in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Examples Of Satire Essay Stupidity or Satire? Laughter can be an instinctive expression of lively amusement although we don t usually realise the offence of the joke we are laughing at. Tamara discusses modern satire and its position in humanity. Sometimes the world we live in can be too blinded or careless to really discover the reasons why we laugh at satirical comedy. • 19. Analyzing The Production Of Grapes Viticulture examines the production of grapes. Viticulture takes into account everything outdoors, including key factors such as geography, climate, soil, drainage, graftin¬¬g, the vine life cycle, and harvest. Geography: Mountainous terrain = water run off which helps with drainage. Climate: Warm locations will produce sweeter and riper fruit, therefore creating sweet wine with high alcohol content since these grapes are producing more sugar for the yeast to eat. When the climate is cool, lower temperatures maintain the acidity and make it hard for grapes to ripen. Soil: Dry, arid soil is critical since grapes don t do well in rich, organic soils. If wines receive a large amount of nutrients, they go vegetative which is when grape ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This guarantees a harmless, and safe process through the use of natural and environmental friendly methods. Phylloxera is a microscopic, yellow sap sucking insect that feed on roots and leaves of grapevines. This insect can infest a vineyard as a whole and ruin every vein on the property. It has had a huge impact on the wine industry because it allowed for the introduction of grafting. Phylloxera kills European vines therefore in order to grow European grapes on American soil one must graft a European vine to an American root allowing for the different grape types to survive and thrive. The 5 S s are important to take into account when tasting wines. Sight, Swirl, Smell, Sip and Spit are essential to understand. Sight: When first pouring a glass of wine, you want to hold it to a white background in order to have a clear vision of the wines color. If a white wine has hints of green it indicates youth and acidity. Darker shades indicate bolder flavors or the wine was held in a oak barrel. When viewing a red wine, less color indicates aging and a subtle flavor. You can also determine age by the amber outer ring that is present; if a wider ring is visible the wine is older. Swirl: By tilting the glass, and swirling this action enhances the wines flavor and natural aroma. Moreover when you swirl, legs and tears appear on the glass itself allowing for observation. If the drippings are wide and slow it indicates a heavier wine, while ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. Interesting Features of Ancient Civilizations Question: Try to imagine what it was like to live during that time and in that place. What was it that caused the transition from Neolithic life to civilization? What were some of the major features of those civilizations that you found interesting? One of the most interesting features of ancient civilizations was the extent to which topography influenced cultural worldviews and practices. For example, in the case of the Sumerians, they possessed a highly evolved and complex culture, as manifested in the philosophical depth of their Epic of Gilgamesh. However, the openness of the land in which they lived to invaders made them vulnerable as did the propensity of the land to catastrophic flooding. This may be one of the reasons why they did not create as politically and architecturally complex a society as Egypt or Greece. It also likely affected the relatively dark worldview expressed in Gilgamesh. However, despite the susceptibility to invasions, subsequent civilizations in the area, like the Babylonians, created ways of tracking the stars and other valuable methods of observing and interpreting the world in a scientific fashion that were to become the building blocks of modern civilization in other areas. In contrast to Mesopotamia, Egypt had the advantage of a regular, predictable source of fertilization of its soil in the form of the Nile. This stable source of food enabled the creation of one of the world s great empires. The pharaoh was responsible for all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Disadvantages Of Lean Manufacturing 2 LEAN MANUFACTURING: As per Womack, Jones, and Roos (1990), the expression Lean speaks to a framework that uses less input with a specific end goal to make the same yields than those made by a conventional large scale manufacturing framework, while expanding the scope of various completed merchandise for the end client. The term lean manufacturing is synonymous with various names, for example, agile manufacturing, just in time manufacturing, synchronous manufacturing, world class manufacturing, and continuous flow (serial production). Lean manufacturing is an operational procedure arranged toward accomplishing the most limited conceivable process duration by wiping out waste. It is gotten from the Toyota production system and its goal is to expand the worth included work by taking out squanders and decreasing superfluous work. The method frequently diminishes the time between a client request and shipment, and it is intended to enhance benefit, consumer loyalty, throughput time, and worker inspiration. That doesn t matter, though, as the audience still finds themselves rooting for Neal. His character has such a unique personality it almost feels real. Neal Caffrey has been sculpted so magnificently that by the end of the show he is like a friend to many viewers. Eastin said the thing that gives Neal his allure is They get to where they re going by sheer force of personality. Neal is someone you could easily hate, but I think Matt Bomer brings so much boyish charm to him that you end up liking the guy despite that. (Shattuck). In a way, Neal has conned the audience into liking him, but nobody seems to mind. Neal convinces him that the way to justice is sometimes blocked by corruption in the FBI and other agencies, and they work together to skirt around that corruption and make a difference in the world (Shattuck). Polymers such as polyoxybenzylmethylenglycolanhydride (Bakelite) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) were first synthesised in 1907 and 1938 respectively, making them old by polymer standards. It was discovered in the 60s that a reaction between PTFE and magnesium produced a violent and exothermic reaction. This occurred because magnesium is a highly reactive metal, which when burned, gives of an intense, white light. However, magnesium requires an oxidiser a material that takes electrons from the fuel allowing the reaction to take place. This is why flares are made of PTFE and magnesium, as it is the fluorine in PTFE that allows the reaction to take place. Fluorine is a proficient oxidiser, more so than oxygen, as it contains more gaps for valence electrons, allowing the reaction to obtain a higher temperature of combustion. MPLS encapsulated PDUs move through a WAN via Label Switched Paths (LSPs), which are similar to Frame Relay s virtual circuits. PDUs with closely related paths are grouped into Forwarding Equivalence classes (FECs). FECs are not synonymous with LSPs, as multiple FECs often traverse the same LSP. Regular interior routing protocols are present on the WAN, but only to spread topology data so that LSPs can be created. They are not involved in individual forwarding decisions. Traffic engineering extensions can even be added to create backup LSPs and provide QoS. MPLS has many advantages over competitive services. It was originally developed as a faster technique for moving data between LANs. Since only a single router has to fully inspect incoming traffic, and all others are merely reacting to the conclusions of this original inspection, speed is improved from the paradigm. However many advancements in hardware have somewhat closed the gap on this difference. Nonetheless, MPLS remains a fair choice for those who wish to optimize the speed of their network, and it has many things to offer beyond that original intent. The Multiprotocol part of it s name is important in explaining many of these perks. What is meant by multiprotocol is that it s compatible with any network layer protocol. • 41. Media s Perception Of Plastic Surgery Plastic surgery has been a hot button issue in recent years because of the debate of how far procedures can and should go. TV shows like Botched highlight how plastic surgeries can go wrong and make someone look fake, but that is a rarer scenario than media perceives it to be. Because of media s prevalence in our lives, we see plastic surgery as fake and those who seek it faker. Not all the people who seek plastic surgery are doing it in vain. They are seeking to better themselves. The truth is media pushes a negative impact on the perception of plastic surgery and hides the benefits plastic surgery can have. Celebrities like Ariel Winter from ABC s Modern Family face ridicule within the plastic surgery debate as described by Winter in an interview with Glamour magazine. Winter, at the age of 17, faced societal pressure to do something about her size F breasts (Radloff 1). Winter described her situation in the eye of the media as having so little to wear that s age appropriate which would lead to backlash for dressing too maturely in form fitting clothes (qtd. in Radloff 3). Social media has its own mockery. Winter described it as The Internet bullies are awful. I could post a photo where I feel good, and 500 people will comment about how fat I am and that I am disgusting (qtd. in Radloff 3). Winters felt as though the media targeted her based off of her appearance rather than her accomplishments as a young actress (qtd. in Radloff 4). This behavior by media is troublesome because it leads to people outside of high publicity criticizing themselves and others based off of appearance, not character. People in high publicity positions are shamed by media outlets for even discussing the idea of a cosmetic procedure. Joan Kron, director and producer of the documentary about plastic surgery and comediennes Take My Nose ... Description Myself and a fellow student were asked if we would like to give Mr X a bed bath. I said yes. It was done under the supervision of our SNE. • 44. Essay On Advantages And Disadvantages Of Rome The Dominating Advantages of Rome The small city of Rome emerged as a city state right around 600 BC and was located in the Latium region in the Italian Peninsula. On its way to eventually dominating the entire peninsula, it is documented that Rome had a few advantages that gave them the upper hand. Some of these advantages were geographical location, outside influence, innate culture characteristics, and their military power. They started as a tiny city state (a city and its territory separated from other countries) and over the course of around three hundred years they expanded and began to conquer nearby territories and eventually conquered the entirety of the Italian Peninsula. In the 6th Century BC the main way to transfer and trade goods was through physically transporting said goods. Two of the main ways to do this was through land and maritime commerce. A very unique thing about the city state of Rome was its geographical location in respect to roads and routes for ships. Virtually every land road in Latium converged into Rome. Rome s centralized location on the coast was a prime position seeing as weary seamen had a perfect hub to stop, rest, and trade. Having that much traffic from land travellers and boats carrying goods from hard to reach countries gave Rome a distinct advantage over any other region, let alone another city state on the Italian Peninsula. This gave Rome access to goods and that surrounding regions did not possess. In having these new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. A Farewell Of Arms, By Ernest Hemingway Major events throughout history have resulted from human desire for fulfillment by instituting war, preaching religion, and glorifying love. In A Farewell to Arms, Ernest Hemingway introduces Frederic Henry, an American in the Italian Army during World War I. Frederic Henry s attempts to find his meaning in life, are represented by his attempts to discover the possibilities in war, religion, and love. He does this through his friendship with a Catholic priest, his intense love affair with nurse Catherine Barkley, who ends up pregnant with his child and eventually dies during labor, along with their child, and finally with his position as Lieutenant during the war. Throughout A Farewell to Arms, Ernest Hemingway repeatedly mentions games in war, love, and religion, to illustrate his belief that humans use these as a way to play with and hopefully reach fulfillment but also use them as a distraction from the inevitable ending: death. Hemingway s repeated allusions to games in war, and his portrayal of Henry s attitude about war from beginning to end of the novel shift dramatically; illustrating that war is used as a tool or a game by humans to enrich their lives and avoid death, while systematically stealing the lives of others. From disinterest, to realization, and finally reflection, Henry experiences diverse changes in his ideals concerning war. At first Henry decides that I would not be killed... According to their research, by interpreting everyday experience, children initially believe that the earth is a flat object. In another case study, it is reported that age is a crucial foreteller and children aged 10 and above gain a considerable amount of scientific knowledge of the earth. (Straatemeir et al, 2008) This is due to the fact that when children get older, they will have more scientifically correct knowledge of the earth. Additionally, they also state that age exerts a huge influence on the consistency of children s answers. This is attributed to the fact that the consistency was lower for younger children. (Straatemeier et al, 2008). The more knowledgeable the children are, the more consistent their answers are. Besides, children s understanding of the form of the earth is associated significantly with gender differences. Previous case studies have expressed that boys are better at scientific knowledge, including the understanding of the structure of our earth than girls. Straatemeir (2008) argues that the boys are supposed to have a considerably higher consistency mark as did the girls. (0.60 and 0.18 respectively) In addition to that, it is suggested that males have the wider knowledge of scientific problems. Essay Comparing Popol Vuh And The Odyssey Popol Vuh and The Odyssey are epic stories that are considered, cultural touchstones; they dramatize the life of a nation and help bind it together (Lawall, 3076). The two stories both form a connection to the culture of Mayan, Popol Vuh, and Greek, The Odyssey, partly through the monsters that preside in each epic. Because of the detailed descriptions of monsters or evil people and the known information pertaining to each story s culture, the two can be connected. Therefore, Popol Vuh and The Odyssey are comparable by cultures through the monsters that each story depicts. The monsters in Popol Vuh, known as the lords of the underworld, are extremely important to Mayan Culture. In the cycle of tales that comprises Part 3, the most celebrated portion of the Popol Vuh, Hunahpu and Xblanque vanquish the lords of the Maya underworld, called Xibalba (a term of obscure etymology, provisionally translated place of fright ).
