Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD)
Our mission is to advance and support the emergency medical dispatch professional ensuring that
the public s need of health related emergencies are coordinated quickly, effectively and safely with
the most appropriate medical response.
The communication industry is changing more rapidly than most agencies can keep up with, and
Emergency Medical Dispatch is the most effective and economically feasible advancement for the
services response.
Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) is a system structured around the use of medical dispatching
priority cards using key questions, giving pre arrival instructions, and implementing dispatch
priorities. Dispatchers are trained to ask specific questions such as patient s age, level of
consciousness, breathing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this course, the students will gain the knowledge to properly prioritize the EMS calls
received, as well as convey proper pre arrival instructions to the callers as needed.
During the course, students will study topics such as structured information gathering, journalistic
investigative approach, response allocation and response prioritization, systems of the body,
pediatric considerations, legal and liability issues, anatomy and physiology, stress management, and
quality assurance and recertification.
The initial cost of the certification is $395.00 per person, which also includes the guide cards, and
all books or manuals required. Training can be held here at our facility so there would be no travel
costs, but scheduling would need to be worked to allow the necessary training, which may, in some
instances, occur overtime.
Another option to holding a course, is to allow the employees to participate in an online course
which includes a one hour long web based simulation and a one and a half hour practical practice
conference call. The final practical is completed on a conference call with a one on one

Lga Research Paper
Differences Existing Between the 3 Areas: Each of the LGA areas we visited expressed a very
different trend to each other. Although within a region, the traits were all heavily related
expressing the socio economic status of the region. Through our fieldwork along with some
Internet research, we were able to identify the major differences between these regions. These
consist of: House Prices Toorak, according to Realestate.com, is by far the most expensive
property. Buying a house there will cost $3 240 000. This is more than double the cost of a house
in South Melbourne which is $1 175 000. And this is almost double again of Footscray which is

Almost all of the shops there are a type which only wealthy people would go to and this is
because the region is full of wealthy people. The shops take advantage of this along with the fact
the people are willing to spend a lot because the other shops are a longer distance away. This is
why the shops charge, total of all items surveyed, $2101, almost double South Melbourne s
prices being $1287.2. South Melbourne is aiming to cater for a more working class group of
people but still quite wealthy meaning they can put in some beauty and expensive stores such as
Elmas Jewelers, Eyelash Extension Specialist and Choices CafГ©. Footscray however only cost a
total of all items surveyed, $328.3. This is because every store there is for functionality and
essentials rather than luxurious stores like Toorak and South Melbourne. Most shops here sell

Trickster God Mythology Examples
Iktomi, Wakjankaga, Coyote, and Rick Sanchez trickster gods created through generations of
rich Sioux, Winnebago, and Navajo tradition, as well as the weird and wonderful minds of Dan
Harmon and Justin Roiland. Specifically, I ll be focusing on the themes of community and
individual values told through trickster god narratives with a concentration on
environmentalism. Initially, it s important to establish the tropes and traits of trickster gods, so
I can establish a firm link between Rick Sanchez and trickster gods of old. This will give the
social commentary and myth of Adult Swims Rick and Morty a figurative leg to stand on.
Beginning, let s define common traits and relay them to specific examples in trickster myths.
Trickster God s are often wandering, bawdy, gluttonous, and obscene (Levine 100) selfish,
amoral, foolish, destructive, and as the name indicates, given to duping others in his own
interests (Levine 100). They are also culture heros (Levine 100) with god like power (Levine
100). A poignant example arises in the episode Rick Potion no. 9 where in Rick attempting to
secure his grandson Morty a date at a dance, makes him a love serum, which unintentionally infects
the whole world with a virus that turns everyone into a David Cronenberg esque monsters. He is
then forced to relocate himself and morty to another dimension of earth. This satisfies multiple of
the requirements wandering (Levine 100) and god like (Levine 100) with the ability to pick and

Bereft Tone
The somber poem of Bereft reflects on the anxieties after a great loss love. Bereft by Robert
Frost is comparing the narrator s past and present loss and lonliness . The use of different and
similar feet patterns lets readers connect sections of the poem to create a better understanding of
the meaning. The trimeter poem does not have a specific foot throughout the entirety of the poem,
but the poem uses dactyls and trochees in various patterns. By looking at the various similarities
between lines you can gain a deeper understanding of the reflection and questioning of his past
love loss. The stormy weather in Bereft is metaphorical to his previous loss of love being realized
again. This change as said in line 1, has caused the poems final... Show more content on

These lines, which describe the motion and sound of the storm, are thematically creating conflict
between the author and nature. In the follow phrases, Leaves...hissed/ Blindly struck at my
knee.../...sinister in the tone , gives a negative tone to the metaphorical storm within the poem.
Their rhythmic pattern aligns with that of the last lines of the poem starting with Word , which
are describing his loneliness. Word I was in the house alone//Word I was in my life alone, /Word
I had no one left buy God , continue this pattern of very metrical lines of three (13, 15 16. Theses
two sections of lines are not only metrically similar, but thematically. They are no longer
questioning the trials of his loss of love, as he is no longer questioning. The two sections are
described through sound, which is a motif throughout the poem. The storm s description with sound
connects with the other passage of same foot pattern as the narrator believes that someone has
spread word of his loneliness, could this be the nature? These sections are also following the same
end rhyme scheme hissed/...missed/...tone and alone/...alone/...God (9 11, 13,15 16). The meanings
may reflect each other in these passages, the sense of nature being the one acknowledging the
narrator s loneliness with the storm. It is not clear who knows of his loneliness in the poem, but
from the similarities in theme and meter it can be assumed that the storm is spreading word of his

Describe The Sudoku Puzzle
Most people must heard about or used to seen the Sudoku puzzle in newspaper, which is a world

might be not much people know that the Sudoku puzzle was developed Latin square is an nГ—n

puzzles did not require mathematical knowledge and thinking. However the statement was wrong.
Solving a Latin square or Sudoku relied on the mathematical logical thinking. Although it is
different from solving algebra, geometry or other math questions that looks more mathematical ,...

Picasso-Braque Comparison Essay
During the 1920s and early 1930s, Braque painted a series of still lifes representing a return to a
CГ©zannian means of expressing depth and surface composition. As an heir of Cezanne, Braque
had inherited the possibility of applying to painting the economy and precision traditional in the
craftsman milieu from which he came. The two great influences on Braque s development were
CГ©zanne s work and his relationship with Picasso; an understanding of the complexity of the
Picasso Braque reciprocity is necessary in order to interpret the stylistic differences that finally
separated the two artists. In Verre, pomme, serviette et pipe, as with other works executed during
the same period, Braque was experimenting with a heightened abstraction of form and the elision
of space, light and perspective. The final result of Braque s effort, which was painted in 1931, is
something of a doctrinaire pre World War II Cubist (kemper) composition, having generated the
tactile space through the use of overlap, translucency and the repetition of both form and color.
From the muted venetian red of the apple to the gradated burnt umber of the background planes,
which are articulated like panels on a screen, the artist has tapped into the heavy, earthen palette

Salvador Allende Failed Summary
To abandon the imperialistic idea that the United States of America used to justify its presence in
Chile and ultimately regain its sovereignty as the leader, Salvador Allende, had to reconstruct a new
Chilean identity that abandoned the national notion that Chile did not possess a culture of their
own or wasn t literate enough, to govern itself (Rivera 25). Inspired by Marxism, Allende led a
socialist movement that would reshape the Chilean economy through the nationalization of major
industries, as well as redistribute income through tax and land reform. Salvador Allendehis rapid
socialist movement became an ideological battle between socialism and capitalism. Due to Chiles

Narrative Essay On Camp Snoopy
The first time going to camp snoopy was a huge deal because I was only 4 years old. I was with my
close family, which are my brothers and cousins, and of course my mom and grandma. When we
were walking into camp snoopy for the first time it was like a tree in a forest and all I could hear
hear squeal of kids screaming, and the rides rumbling. The first ride we decided to go on was the
elegant peanutsswing. When we got on the swing I felt the chilly metal of the seat and the smooth
breeze of wind blowing into my face. After that we went to the shooting star and at first I didn t

water splashing everywhere from the log chute coming down the monster hill. The line felt like a
mile long, the scary thing was we kept going into the abandoned cave, every step it got darker and
darker. We advently saw a pinch of sun before it went away, and then we were first in line. So
me, my mom, and Sam stepped into the log chute. Then we started to float down the stream and
then we took hard right and slowly went the lift and all you could here was click clack, click
clack, click clack. Once off the lift we hit some rapids and we went by the home run chair; then
all a sudden we went down the hill after the drop my heart was racing. Then we went up another
lift to go to the massive drop my heart was racing, my stomach felt like it was going to explode.
Then we went straight down, and we made a massive wave making water go everywhere. Till
this day the log chute is one the scariest rides at Camp Snoopy because your just sitting in the log
chute, so you have to girl the metal bar for my life.I felt that then and a I feel it

Olive oil about a tablespoon
About a quarter cup flour
I also added a sloosh of wine, black pepper and chopped herbs
Vegetables
Heat the olive oil in a large pan and put a glass of water in the freezer.
POTATOES
The potatoes I used had been around for a while so were quite eye y so my first job was to wash
them, clean out any eyes and cut them into quarters. Each chunk of potato should be bite sized.
Once the oil is hot, add the potatoes. I like to dab them with paper towel to dry them first. Stir the
potatoes and turn the heat to medium low.
LEEKS
Simply clean the leek and cut into slices. I don t know if it s just me that gets particularly grubby
leeks but I always have to give them a very thorough rinse in cold water.

Put the leeks to the pan with the potatoes. Give them a good stir.

Peel and slice the garlic cloves and put these into the pan too, combining the vegetables well. By
now, the potatoes will probably be cooked. I usually just eat one to test but if a knife point goes in
easily, they re done.

Overcoming Dental Implants
Have No Fear: How Dental Implants Are Well Worth Overcoming Dental Apprehension
Although a lot of people fear the dentist s office, when you know what s going to happen and all
the benefits you ll reap, it can be a lot less scary. Implants involve a few steps, mainly, making way
for the new teeth and putting in place the devices that will hold them secure and finally, popping
those babies in. When you consider the benefits, along with the simplicity of the process, there s
really nothing to fear.
Consider The Benefits
If going to the dentist for a procedure didn t make your life easier or improve it in a number of
ways, you might be left questioning whether or not you should do it. With implants, however, the
advantages are clear and abundant: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cleaning: Despite their strength and durability, implants need to be cleaned as meticulously and
regularly as the rest of your own natural teeth. The bacteria and inflammation accompanying plaque
build up threatens your artificial teeth, too, necessitating frequent brushing, flossing and rinsing.
2. Protecting: As strong as they are, implants are still vulnerable to injury, pressure and stress, so
always wear a mouth guard if you play sports, protect all your teeth by skipping hard candy and
chewing ice and talk to your dentist if you grind your teeth at night.
3. Living Healthy: Beyond the toothbrush, the way you live your life can have a negative impact on
your teeth, too. Smoking, eating too much sugar and not seeing your physician to keep on top of
issues involving the heart or diabetes may put your teeth at risk. Your teeth are simply an extension
of the rest of you and as such, require the preventative and proactive measures that contribute to
total health and wellness.
Despite your fear of going to the dentist, you understand the long term value of getting implants and
the immediate benefits they provide. This really motivates you to overcome your inhibitions and
take these steps needed to protect your oral health and put your best face forward with every

Lower Athabasca River System
The Lower Athabasca River (LAR), in northern Alberta, Canada, begins north of Fort McMurray
and flows to the Athabasca Delta and Lake Athabasca. Throughout its course, the river cuts through
natural bitumen deposits, (Conly et al. 2002) and runs adjacent to the Oil Sands developments. Fine
cohesive sediments and associated chemical constituents such as metals and polycyclic aromatic
hydrocarbons (PAHs) play an important role in the LAR ecosystem (Ghosh et al. 2000, Garcia

The proposed numerical frame work for the study is summarized in Figure 1. A one dimensional
(1D) model is used for large scale long term simulation of flow hydrodynamics and sediment
transport patterns in the LAR. Furthermore, a 1D ice model is used to predict the winter ice
coverage and its effect on the river flow characteristics; however, other ice processes (such as ice

Caffeine And Heart Rate Experiment
This paper explores and explains the findings of the heart rate experiment conducted by the
students of Grand Canyon University for the Anatomy and Physiology 202 Laboratory course.
Over a two week time span, students were asked to record their heart rate, before, during, and after
activities as instructed by the professor. Specifically, this paper focuses on the female students,
comparing the heart rates of individuals who reported that they drink coffeeversus those females
who reported that they do not drink coffee. The effects of caffeinecontained in the coffee were
examined and it was noted that those who drink coffee have lower heart rates before, during, and
after times of examination. These findings suggested that the hypothesis proposed prior to research,
Females Who Drink Coffee Have a Higher Heart Rate Prior to Exams, was an incorrect statement.
Keywords: heart rate, female, coffee drinkers, non coffee drinkers, hypothesis.
Effect of Caffeine on Heart Rate in Females before an Exam In the fast paced life of a college
student, it is not uncommon for tasks and due dates to quickly pile up, demanding more hours
studying and less hours sleeping. Any amount of sleep deprivation can lead students to consume
caffeinated beverages, particularly coffee, to help them stay awake and get their work done.

Corrections And The Goals For The Future
On June 7, 2016, Steve Walters interviewed Jon Litscher Secretary of Wisconsin Department of
Correction on his return to corrections and the goals for the future. Litscher (2016) explained how
policies changed due to the ACT 10 law. The law prohibited the workers to bargain with their
employers on their wages and benefits (Patterson 2015). He verbalized that one of the goals for

He also shared that the goals for correction is to reintegrate the inmates back into society. The

I did not have much history on the topic of corrections and the goals for the future. However, I

These shortages could contribute to situations that are more dangerous for the offeiceers. I have a
friend who works as a correctional officer and with these shortages, he has to work mandatory

make and keep plans with his family. Litscher (2016) verbalized that corrections is going through a

Nevertheless, I was unaware that the starting pay for a correctional officer is $16, but even with

The Causes for Us Economic Crisis
The United States economy is currently experiencing the worst crisis since the Great Depression
back in the decade that was preceding World War II. The crisis started off from the home
mortgage market, especially the market for so called subprime mortgages, and has already spread
beyond subprime to prime mortgages, commercial real estate, corporate junk bonds, and other
forms of debt. This paper critically illustrates the factors that account for the crisis, who was
affected by this crisis, and how it was spread to the rest of the world.

4.Risk deferral
Historically, commercial banks were to make the mortgage and own them for the entire life of the
mortgage, which forced them to carefully select their borrowers and ensure their credit worthiness
and the likeliness of them keeping up with their mortgage payments. But in the recent decade,
commercial banks started to sell these mortgages to investment banks, which pooled together
hundreds and thousands of mortgages into a mortgage based securities , which then sold them to
hedge funds, pension funds, and even foreign investors. This meant that the main income for the
commercial and investment banks came from selling these mortgages, which meant that the more
mortgages they had to sell, the more income they would be getting. While these mortgage
requirements were getting lower and lower, more people would be borrowing which in turn also
meant that the risks of the final owners of these mortgages were increasing. You may ask why they
still permitted these loans, but since all of these final owners would be owning an extremely large
amount of loans, they wouldn t be able to individually check each loan and ensure that they are
healthy. Therefore, these final investors depended on bond rating agencies to evaluate the risks in
these mortgages and assign ratings to them. But since these rating agencies were privately owned

Mary Rowlandson Book Report
From June 1675 to April 1678, there was a war between New England and English colonists
called King Philip s war. During the King Philip s war, the Massachusetts Bay Colony was
attacked by Native Indians and some people were captured by native Indians for 11 weeks and 5
days. Mary (White) Rowlandson was a colonial America woman who was captured after that attack.
After she was released, she recorded her experience during the time being captured by writing a
book called A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandsonwhich also
known as The Sovereignty and Goodness of God. This book was written from the personal

Characteristics Of An Effective Counselor
Characteristics of an Effective Counselor
DesirГ©e M. Ericksen
Liberty University
Abstract
This paper reviews four published papers and/or studies that have researched the characteristics of
effective counselors. Each of the papers/studies list their own set of characteristics, but share a
common thread of empathy, compassion, warmth, genuineness and emotional stability. After
reviewing each paper and research study, additional analysis was applied to the above five
characteristics with the hope of creating a more thorough understanding of what characteristics will
assist in the journey of becoming an effective counselor.
Characteristics of an Effective Counselor Counseling is an age old profession. A counselor is

Brown, 1996).
First, to understand the importance of a counselor s characteristics, it should be understood that a
counselor uses him/herself as a tool in assisting clients in various ways. Carroll stated:
When human beings [counselors] work they use themselves as the main focus of their work, they
infuse themselves into it, they become it; it is them at work, not just work done by them. Their
work changes from being a job, or indeed even a career, to becoming an extension of themselves, of
who they are. (Carroll, 2001, p. 77)
Therefore, empathy, genuineness, warmth, compassion and emotional stability are not only
characteristics of effective counselors, they should be considered the foundation of what a
counselor is.

conditions necessary for therapeutic change. Rogers listed six conditions of which three conditions
are specifically applied to the therapist: unconditional positive regard, empathetic understanding,
and congruence (Rogers, 1957) Rogers expounded on congruence as being the most significant
quality by saying
The third condition is that the therapist should be, within the confines of this relationship, a
congruent, genuine, integrated person. It means that within the relationship he is freely and deeply

Women And Women In Jack Kerouac s On The Road
In Jack Kerouac s novel, On the Road, women are objectified and sexualized by the men in the
story. Sal, Dean and other male characters use descriptive language to portray a woman s looks and
demeaning language to characterize the women they encounter. The men also disregard any
feelings that the women have while also ignoring any positive qualities they may have. The two
women who are the main victims in this novel are Marylou and Camille, and Dean Moriartyis the
source of the majority of the mistreatment. To begin, I would not recommend On the Roadto anyone
who is a feminist. This novel clearly victimizes and objectifies the female characters. Moreover,
the fact that these women are not only characters, but real people who experienced mistreatment
from these men, can be even more disturbing and offensive to not only feminists, but all females.
Marylou is first referred to as his beautiful little sharp chick. The possessive pronoun his refers to
Dean; together with a lacking description of the chick aside from her appearance, creates Marylou
as simply someone, even something, that belongs to Dean. She is not described by her personality
or height of intellect, but instead, her looks. From the beginning, Marylou is denounced to nothing
more than a sexual object for Dean to take advantage of. Additionally, it is no secret that Marylou
is merely a consistent hookup for Dean. When Sal arrives at Dean s apartment he says, Dean had

Political Changes in Europe Following WWII
Europe saw greater political changes than continuities following the 2nd World War.
World War II (WWII) was a pivotal event that reshaped the Europe very much in terms of
international politics. I agree to a large extent that Europe did see greater political changes than
continuities following WWII. The most evident changes of which were that the United States of
America (USA) and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) gained international
dominance in the world arena and that the United Nations (UN) was established following the
League of Nations demise.
WWII saw the decline of the Great Powers, mainly Britain and France, as well as the rise of USA

The establishment of the UN followed the demise of the League of Nations, which was
established after World War I (WWI). However, the League of Nations hardly had any authority
to do so, since they had no military power and nations who were a part of the League of Nations
were not required to provide one. In addition, USA, USSR and Germany were not members of the
League of Nations, meaning that three of the world s most powerful nations then played no part in
supporting the league. Britain and France were the two most powerful members of the League of
Nations, however both nations had suffered much economic and military losses during WWI and
hence were unwilling to contribute to issues that did not regard Western Europe.
After the League of Nations failed to prevent WWII, the UN was established as a replacement of
the flawed League of Nations to maintain international peace and promote cooperation. In
addition, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) was formed by the UN Charter, and its
jurisdictions can be enforced by the UN Security Council (but is subject to the veto power of the
five permanent members of the council). The UN has helped to diffuse the tension between USA
and USSR over the Cuban Crisis of 1962, succeeded in averting the Arab Israel war in 1967 and so
on, proving the capability and functions of the UN.

Globalization Of The Amazon Forest
Introduction
It s likely that the paper that this essay is printed on was produced in the Amazon forest,
processed in a South American Factory and shipped on a German made ship to different
countries. This is just one aspect of Globalisation. More globally globalisation reflects
interconnectivity of markets, people and culture around the word. Today s world is
interconnected like never before, and corporations are trading, expanding, and employing across
the continents. Multinational businesses are changing the way that the world works, having new
and far reaching impacts on their customers, business partners, geographical bases, and their
suppliers from established concerns to the independent farmer or craftsperson. The term
globalisation is one that is used with ever increasing frequency as if it had a universally accepted
meaning and definition. According to Modelski, globalisation is a historical process which is
characterised by a growing engagement between peoples on all corners of the globe (Modelski,
2003, pp.55 59) The main aim of this essay is to explain the process of globalisation, and to
critically analyse one business in which has been impacted by globalisation, I will be focusing on
The Starbucks Company throughout this essay. The main case study which will be referred to
throughout this essay is the worldwide brand Starbucks, which has become a global company as a

This is because family is the primary setting where children start to learn acceptable way of
socializing and thinking. Physical abuse from their parents has encouraged them to practice
aggressive behavior to solve problem and obtain desired results (Boss, 2012). Furthermore,
Weatherburn and Lind (1997) found that children who have been being emotional neglect are
more likely to involve in social crime. Research has shown that teenagers who are being
emotionally neglect for a long period may feel depress and anxious may result in illicit drug, teen
suicide and alcohol abuse (Hammen, 1996). Besides, they may also feel insecure and use violent
acts to protect themselves. Abandonment leads them to join gangs in order to find the sense of
belonging. Additionally, long period of rejection and abandonment may cause teenagers to become
emotionally numb. They can feel neither sympathy nor care. Thus, they do not feel either guilty or
regret for their violent behavior. Besides, they are also not able to consider the consequences of
their aggressive acts rationally (Hammen, 1996).
Secondly, studies have shown that juvenile delinquency is conclusively related to the family
environment (Hammen, 1996). As one of the strongest socializing forces in life, family is the
primary place to cultivate children s behavior. According to Hammen (1996), the presence of

Fairest Medical Center
The capitals of Montana, Idaho, and Utah all have their own individual hospitals. In this scenario,
they want a medical facility capable of things that require new technology, however. Instead of
each city building their own, the three cities want to share one. The assignment is to find the
fairest center point for the facility between the three capitals. Some constraints in this problem
include the geography of the area the correct point of concurrency, which will vary depending on
the area. For example, if the correct center is in the middle of a lake, that may not be the best
option. To avoid this, it is much easier to find the correct point and then select the city closest to it.

An angle bisector is a line dividing an angle in two. The orthocenter is the point of intersection
of the three altitudes of a triangle. The three altitudes of a triangle are lines that create a
perpendicular line on one side of the triangle with the vertex of the opposite side. The
orthocenter varies strongly depending on the specific triangle. The distances between the
orthocenter and the vertices are always very different, and in our situation, the location of the
hospital would be ridiculously close to one of the cities, and very far from the others. A person
could use the incenter for the answer in the hospital problem because it accounts for the trails
/paths taken to one city from another. However, it doesn t account for the cities, only their paths.
Someone might use the centroid for the hospital problem because the centroid has equal area
surrounding it, which is why it is considered the center of gravity, as it is where everything
balances equally. Because of this, the area between each of the hospitals paths are equal.
However, it still isn t of equal distance from each of the three capitals. A person would use the
circumcenter because it would be equidistant from each of the three cities, making the traveling
time for each equal and fair. The circumcenter is clearly the best option. Out of the four, it makes
the most sense because it is equidistant from each

Globalizing and Localizing Manufacturing
Made by TOYOTA Aiming for Global Quality Assurance
Since 1957, when the Crown was first exported to the United States, Toyota has expanded the scope
of automobile sales across the entire globe. For over fifty years, Toyota vehicles have found their
way to over 170 countries and regions throughout the world. As their exports have continued to
develop so has the localization of their production bases, in line with a policy of producing
vehicles where the demand exists . Now there are 51 bases in 26 different countries and regions.
In addition, there are design and R D bases in nine locations overseas, showing that from
development and design to production, as well as sales and service, Toyota has now achieved
consistent globalization and localization.
Among the hurdles that this globalization of production has to overcome, the most important is
quality assurance, which requires that no matter where Toyota vehicles are made, they must have
the same high level of quality. Toyota doesn t put a label on vehicles which says Made in The USA
or Made in Japan , but instead opts for one label for all:

Taking Responsibility In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
When people don t take responsibility for their actions unacceptable things happen. For instance,
drunk drivers don t take control of themselves once they are intoxicated. They get behind the
wheel rather than calling a taxi, which puts other people s lives in danger. There has been 1,142
people who were killed in crashes involving a drunk driver in Minnesota from the years 2003
2012. The theme of not taking responsibility for their actions shows up in Mary Shelley s book
Frankenstein. People say it s a story about a monster, but it s really much more than that. Through
the events of when Victor Frankenstein creates the monster and abandons it, him not speaking at
Justine s trial, and Robert Walton turning back to save his shipmates, Shelley shows that people
should take responsibility for their actions. Victor Frankenstein s actions of creating the monster

Meridian Hawk Descriptive Writing
Autumn Durbin We Are Meridian There are many things that make up being a Meridian Hawk.
You can t just expect to be a Hawk after just a few days. Everybody needs experience of how this
school district is special and different from the others. There are many reasons for being proud
of this school. All of the teachers are greatly understanding to where they make learning fun, the
school field trips are amazing ( we are very grateful), and I am delighted about this new building
that they made for us. I feel special because it s as if someone cares about all of the students. Any
other school isn t as different as this one. Things at Meridian are rare and we are remarkably
lucky to have a great place to learn. Every school you go to, you leave a part of your life to stay
there forever. You are always going to be a Bobcat or a Tornado or something else. Like Ms.
Deckard, you can be multiple things. Well, I happen to be something that I am very proud of. I am
proud to be a Meridian Hawk! There are many things at this school that makes it worth enrolling
into. I am ecstatic to have attended Meridian my whole life.... Show more content on

How does the school pay for such things? The latest field trip was fascinating to attend. I was
amazed that everybody could go back the second day after the first day was canceled! The trip
was delightful, nonetheless. The fundraisers are supposed to help pay for those things but I still
feel lousy. It s like I didn t give enough money for the trips. They appear to be more than $2,000
for just one trip. One day, I hope to be able to take my child on a Washington D.C. trip from
Meridian Middle School. The faculty here is protective of us. When I go on a field trips, I want
to be able to know immediately that nothing bad will happen. I can think that on every trip we
have because I know that someone is looking out for me. If I could, I would donate to the school
for every field trip we would go

Magna Carta Research Paper Outline
Magna Carta
The Magna Carta or The Great Charter is one of the most influential documents in history till
date. The Magna Carta inspired many historical documents such as the U.S Constitution and the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The Magna Carta is a peace treaty signed in June 15,1215 between King John and the rebel barons.
The Magna Carta was made because nobles/barons caught King John breaking laws he
established. He was banned from churches by Pope Innocent III. To redeem his reputation, John
took money from barons to help the army, which was against the law. Rebel barons wanted King
John to pay for what he done. So, in May 17,1215, they captured the Tower of London. They made
a peace treaty, Magna Carta, which King John ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Magna Carta also charted the right to a fair trial and limits on taxation without
representation. This peace treaty was created because the king was going against the own laws set
by him, and the rebel barons wanted to put an end to this problem by creating a peace treaty. The
Magna Carta required that no one including the king himself must not violate the laws.
The Magna Carta is known as one of the first steps taken in England towards parliamentary
democracy. The Magna Carta is a symbol of freedom from oppression. This peace treaty inspired
the Parliament, in England. It also heavily influenced the American Bill of rights, and the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights. It inspired the U.S founding fathers to right the U.S Constitution.
The Magna Carta was made to protect basic human rights. The treaty was also contrived to limit
the king s power. King John had no intention of believing in the agreement leading to the Baron s
war. When the Baron s captured London King John was forced to negotiate with barons and
eventually sign the treaty. The 1215 Magna Carta was not the only version. In 1225 there was a

Cosmos Summary
Cosmos Carl Sagan was born in 1934 in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from the University
of Chicago and studied planets and other elements of space. He was named director of Cornell s
Laboratory for Planetary Studies in 1968, and worked with NASA with choosing where the Viking
probes would touch down on Mars. He wrote Cosmos in 1980 as a way of explaining his ideas to
the world and furthering the points made in his television series, also called Cosmos. Cosmos
begins out with the Cosmos themselves, and how they came to be discovered by humans living
on Earth. Sagan explains how he once worked at a genetics lab, breeding fruit flies to see how
their traits were passed down. He relates it to the evolution of DNA, and how evolution might
very well be unique to Earth. When he talks about the coevolution of plants and animals, he
explains how oxygen made from plants makes organic molecules fall to pieces He says, Despite
our fondness for it, it is fundamentally a poison for unprotected organic matter (Sagan 29). I
thought this was interesting because oxygen is essential for every living thing on Earth. It s what
gives us life, but yet at the same time it is slowly killing us. Next up, Sagan talks about astrology
vs. astronomy. Personally, I was not sure that there was a difference between the two before
reading this book. I had always thought that astrology was a subgroup of astronomy. But, I now
understand the difference. Sagan gives a great

Similar Ideas Presented in Blade Runner by Ridley Scott...
Bound by different contexts, authors often use a popular medium in order to depict the discontent
of the ideas of society. This is evident in the module Texts in Time; as Blade Runner, having been
written more than one hundred years after Frankenstein is still able to reflect the ideas proposed in
the latter. Blade Runnerby Ridley Scott deals with the effects of globalisation and consumerism
during 1980 s. Alternatively, the epistolary novel Frankensteinby Mary Shelley deals with the
kinship to the natural world set in the Romantic Era and enlightenment period. However Blade
Runner, although subjected by a different context, also portrays a similar idea to Frankenstein; the
fear of science and technology coupled with the value of the definition of a human. Through this
commonality, we are able to utilise the values of Blade Runner in order to truly understand Shelley
s purpose.
During the 1980 s, the increasing amount of industrialisation brought about a new period in time,
the Industrial Revolution. Literally revolutionising the world, the Industrial Revolution changed the
way the world was perceived, no longer an agricultural based society but instead one overrun with
globalisation and consumerism. Scott portrays this in an overindulged manner, looking at the
extreme effects to long time globalisation and consumerism. As depicted in the film, the city is
subject to a constant downpour of rain surrounded by numerous skyscrapers that effectively block

Personal Responsibility Pros And Cons
Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 (PRWORA)The United
States took on a major reform of the social welfare system with the passing of thePersonal
Responsibility and Work Opportunity Act (PRWORA), signed into law by President Clinton in
August of 1996. This policy essentially changed the nation s social welfaresystem by replacing a
federal entitlement program for low income families, called Aid to Families with Dependent
Children (AFDC), with the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program. The
primary focus is on moving welfare recipients from primarily getting cash assistance to working in
order to lower families dependence on public support. This push toward work promotes a second

For example, unemployed workers who receive an unemployment benefit may be able continue to
support their families. Disadvantages:The biggest disadvantage of welfare is its cost to the local
governments that control it. Even with federal support, states feel the burden of welfare in each
annual budget. One of the concerns is that welfare may discourage some recipients to seek work,
since an increase in earnings would exclude them from getting free benefits. Fraud would also be a
concern if someone supplies false information in order to get benefits that they do not qualify for.
Alternative:As an alternative of giving welfare directly to those in need, funding programs that
educate on new skills or help seeking jobs for the unemployed should be implemented. These
programs, if implemented, can show drastic changes in unemployment rates over time. Restrictions
on welfare, such as the time limits for getting unemployment benefits or a maximum monthly food
stamp allowance, serve to limit the government s responsibility in a way that open ended welfare
does not. Conclusion: The social welfare reform has improved tremendously but still has more

The Gamble, John Sides And Lynn Vavreck
Political campaigning is now the full fledged live version of chess, with pawns, queens and
kings, but is all this parading and strategizing actually important? What is even the purpose
behind political campaigns; is it to inform the public about a candidate or through clever means to
win an election at all costs? The truth of the matter is that campaigns do actually serve an
important purpose in the political world of America. Its purpose is to help inform voters about
candidates and to improve the number of voters at the polling place. In order for these goals to be
achieved there needs to be a clear platform upon which the campaign is built. In the book The
Gamble, John Sides and Lynn Vavreck write that a successful campaign takes advantage of the
fundamentals, national conditions that set the stage for the campaign, (2). These fundamentals are
conditions that the candidate has no control over, like the economy, their opponent, obstacles or
opportunities, and how the candidate reacts to them affect their ability to be elected (Sides and
Vavreck 2). It is upon these fundamentals that a campaign is built. They inform political stances and
future decisions of the campaign, which makes them an important foundation. Though these
fundamentals are key to the survival of a campaign, equally if not more so, as Professor David
Parker has stated, unless the candidate has name recognition the campaign is a lost cause (Parker,
2016). A successful candidate that isn t already

What Makes Art Art?
Art is an object or piece of work that brings one pleasure. Art is also something you see or feel
and you cannot even begin to describe the ways you like it or how it makes you feel. Art is
something that portrays beauty and happiness. Art lets you see the world through another person s
perspective. Most art seems to tell a story about where a person has been and the things they have
encountered along the way. It lets you connect with the artist and see things through their eyes. Art
is a way of expressing one s self without words. When I think of art, I think of paintings, portraits,
sketches, and sculptures. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The scene has two snowmen at the entrance to the covered bridge. It fills your heart with warmth
and holiday spirit just to look at it.
Portraits to me are art in a different sense. Some of my favorite portraits are by Martin Waugh. It is
what he calls Liquid Sculpture. He uses high speed photography to capture drops of liquid as the
splash into lakes and other bodies of water. To me there is just something so soothing about his
work. It is amazing how a tiny drop of liquid can create such a beautiful work of art. His work
impresses me, because I never really thought of liquid as art before I saw one of his photos.
The formal qualities of art work are somewhat important. I like paintings that flow smoothly with
very fine brush strokes. I think some of the most beautiful art work is produced with a
combination of canvas and oil paints. I like portraits that capture images I normally could not see
otherwise. Portraits that capture the colors you can see when light reflects on a ripple of water
amaze me. I do not know a great deal about art, but art seems to be much more opinion than

taking risk no other pop star at the time would take. As Lady Gaga keeps growing into her career,
she has already accomplished so much in a time span of 8 years now, that it seems that nothing can

her third album, Born This Way, selling 1.2 million records in just one week. It s hard to say
there isn t anything she can t sell. She has garnered 6 Grammys over the years and over 380
awards for her music, acting, and foundation organization. But not all this came without a price to

Through Gaga s music you can always hear her pain, struggle, and heartbreak, and that s just
another reason she is so easy to connect with, because she makes it easy to relate to her as a

A Community Of Nobodies Of The Modern World
It is dangerous that we lose our bearings as we struggle at and with margins and marginalized
people, and they are often forgotten in our lives (EG #54). They are addicts, victims of the ism, the
throwaways of the modern world (refugees, migrants, and survivors of war), handicapped, and
challenged disabilities. They form a community of nobodies and Jesusis among them. As authentic
disciples, we should question ourselves that where their places are in our ministry. What are
locking our sight and our mind to see and reach them?
Being with, converting to, working from, and serving at the margins are what Jesus did to enter
deeper into human world. From divine to human, from human to stranger, and from stranger to
obedient death, and from suffering to glory, Jesus became incarnate among us as both humanly
divine and divinely human. He shows us the possibility of conversion from ethnocentrism, a
transformation from monocultural orientations to intercultural orientation. In other words, such
conversion is the facility to move from one s own worldview to that of another. Certainly, we must
agree that to be marginal persons in ministry, we need the qualities such as faithfulness, trust,
respect, listening, openness, and acceptance. Although ethnocentrism is like a shadow, it does not
become a stumbling block if we carefully enter the world of others. Then, we trust in the work of
the Holy Spirit for our conversion towards intercuturality.
We may know that the

The Dispossessed John Analysis
In the novels The Dispossessed by Ursula LeGuin and Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, the two
protagonists, Shevek and John, share keen interests in exploring foreign worlds. However, their
dissatisfaction with the social and economic conditions of their foreign communities compels them
to rebel against local authority, as they strive to reveal the dystopian qualities of their societies to
their citizens. While both protagonists grow up in isolation, Shevek emerges successful in his cause
due to his serenity, wisdom, and intelligence, whereas John, as a result of his naivety, fluctuating
emotions, and immense disgust of the traditions of the World State, emotionally breaks down and is
eventually driven to suicide. Both of these novels contain... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In The Dispossessed, Shevek escapes the detection of his Urrasti hosts to make contact with
local rebel forces. With their help, he speaks at demonstrations to criticize the control of the
Urrasti government, and promises a life of freedom, brotherhood, and peace for those who wish
to live on Annares (292). After a series of violent skirmishes, Shevek retreats to the Terran
embassy on Urras, where he allows his scientific theories to be accessible to all those who are
interested. As a result, Shevek becomes successful in his mission to open Annares, Urras, and other
planets to a wider universe, while also encouraging governmental reform in Urras and providing
hope for future solidarity between Urras and Annares. However, in Brave New World
, John s small
attempt at societal reform results in failure. In a hospital vestibule in the World State, John
encounters a group of children picking up some soma. Appalled by this sight, John wildly cries out
for them to stop tak[ing] that horrible stuff and immediately disposes of it, claiming that it is a
poison meant to enslave them, and asks them to choose freedom (211). However, the authorities
soon arrest him and restore the soma rations for the children. Later, when John is released, he flees
to a lighthouse where he emotionally breaks down and frequently whips himself for whenever he
has impure thoughts. Eventually, after shamefully participating in a soma infused orgy with a
group of visitors and reporters, John hangs

The War For Equality During The 20th Century
The War for Equality The first half of the Twentieth century witnessed both WWI and WWII and
another war as well; the War for Equality. With a racism and persecution at a high level, racial
minorities were ready to fight back. In the first half of the Twentieth century the mistreatment of
racial minorities led to a War for Equality; fought on many levels with varying levels of success.
The war was fierce and did not end in the first half of the Twentieth Century. Like any war the
War for Equality had its causes, in this case the war was brought about by the continued
mistreatment of racial minorities. This mistreatment came in many forms: segregation, violation of
other civil rights, and violence. Racial minorities faced segregation on different levels. Blacks
were kept out of public facilities in the South, Mexicans in the West, and Chinese out of America
itself. In 1896 The Supreme Court case, Plessy v. Ferguson, determined separate public facilities
were constitutional as long they were equal, allowing segregation of racial minorities. Segregated
facilities rarely proved equal. While the Supreme Court ruling kept blacks out of white facilities,
the Chinese Exclusion Act kept the Chinese out of America. The Chinese Exclusion Act, renewed
in 1902, made it increasingly difficult for Chinese to enter America, while also making it easier for
them to be deported (Chinese Exclusion Act). Consequently, Mexicans filled the role of cheap
laborers that Chinese previously

his own quintessential americans, the breed of a dog, or metaphorically speaking a filthy mutt. In
addition, Senator Smith fails to mention one crucial detail to the congress, which is our nation s

overcoming brutal and time consuming obstacles, for a taste of freedom. Why deny them the
opportunity due to their race being different, thus turning back the clock to a generations. For
even our past elected president Abraham Lincoln believed anyone who deserve freedom can get

Some additional information includes, that according to Stella Ting Toomey s Home on the Web,
Dr. Ting Toomey has held major leadership roles in international communication associations and
has served on more than fifteen editorial boards ( Stella ). To further explain the theory of Face
Negotiation, when Dr. Ting Toomey suggests conflict is a consequence of identity management on
an individual and cultural level, she means that culture has a significant impact in regards to
identity management. One s culture has defined rules as to how someone is to properly interact
amongst other individuals and groups, and these rules include values, norms, beliefs and traditions.
Generally, an individual would strive to adhere and follow all of their culture s rules, and in turn,
would view another individual turning against those rules as a threat to their overall culture or
beliefs. Similarly, Dr. Ting Toomey states that conflict can come from a clash of these rules, a
misinterpretation, or as a result of misapplying certain expectations and standards for behavior for a
given situation (Griffin List ). The Face Negotiation theory suggests there are three goals that any
conflict will revolve around; content, relational and identity, or rather, needs, interests or goals.
Based on M. Afzalur Rahim s work, Dr. Ting Toomey and later John Oetzel, identified eight distinct
responses to conflicting situations based on an incompatibility (Griffin

Although within a region, the traits were all heavily related expressing the socio economic status of the region. Through our fieldwork along with some Internet research, we were able to identify the major differences between these regions. These consist of: House Prices Toorak, according to Realestate.com, is by far the most expensive property. Buying a house there will cost $3 240 000. This is more than double the cost of a house in South Melbourne which is $1 175 000. The shops take advantage of this along with the fact the people are willing to spend a lot because the other shops are a longer distance away. This is why the shops charge, total of all items surveyed, $2101, almost double South Melbourne s prices being $1287.2. South Melbourne is aiming to cater for a more working class group of people but still quite wealthy meaning they can put in some beauty and expensive stores such as Elmas Jewelers, Eyelash Extension Specialist and Choices CafГ©. Footscray however only cost a total of all items surveyed, $328.3. This is because every store there is for functionality and essentials rather than luxurious stores like Toorak and South Melbourne. • 4. Trickster God Mythology Examples Iktomi, Wakjankaga, Coyote, and Rick Sanchez trickster gods created through generations of rich Sioux, Winnebago, and Navajo tradition, as well as the weird and wonderful minds of Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland. Specifically, I ll be focusing on the themes of community and individual values told through trickster god narratives with a concentration on environmentalism. Initially, it s important to establish the tropes and traits of trickster gods, so I can establish a firm link between Rick Sanchez and trickster gods of old. This will give the social commentary and myth of Adult Swims Rick and Morty a figurative leg to stand on. Beginning, let s define common traits and relay them to specific examples in trickster myths. Trickster God s are often wandering, bawdy, gluttonous, and obscene (Levine 100) selfish, amoral, foolish, destructive, and as the name indicates, given to duping others in his own interests (Levine 100). They are also culture heros (Levine 100) with god like power (Levine 100). A poignant example arises in the episode Rick Potion no. 9 where in Rick attempting to secure his grandson Morty a date at a dance, makes him a love serum, which unintentionally infects the whole world with a virus that turns everyone into a David Cronenberg esque monsters. He is then forced to relocate himself and morty to another dimension of earth. This satisfies multiple of the requirements wandering (Levine 100) and god like (Levine 100) with the ability to pick and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Bereft Tone The somber poem of Bereft reflects on the anxieties after a great loss love. Bereft by Robert Frost is comparing the narrator s past and present loss and lonliness . The use of different and similar feet patterns lets readers connect sections of the poem to create a better understanding of the meaning. The trimeter poem does not have a specific foot throughout the entirety of the poem, but the poem uses dactyls and trochees in various patterns. By looking at the various similarities between lines you can gain a deeper understanding of the reflection and questioning of his past love loss. The stormy weather in Bereft is metaphorical to his previous loss of love being realized again. This change as said in line 1, has caused the poems final... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These lines, which describe the motion and sound of the storm, are thematically creating conflict between the author and nature. In the follow phrases, Leaves...hissed/ Blindly struck at my knee.../...sinister in the tone , gives a negative tone to the metaphorical storm within the poem. Their rhythmic pattern aligns with that of the last lines of the poem starting with Word , which are describing his loneliness. Word I was in the house alone//Word I was in my life alone, /Word I had no one left buy God , continue this pattern of very metrical lines of three (13, 15 16. Theses two sections of lines are not only metrically similar, but thematically. They are no longer questioning the trials of his loss of love, as he is no longer questioning. The two sections are described through sound, which is a motif throughout the poem. The storm s description with sound connects with the other passage of same foot pattern as the narrator believes that someone has spread word of his loneliness, could this be the nature? These sections are also following the same end rhyme scheme hissed/...missed/...tone and alone/...alone/...God (9 11, 13,15 16). The meanings may reflect each other in these passages, the sense of nature being the one acknowledging the narrator s loneliness with the storm. It is not clear who knows of his loneliness in the poem, but from the similarities in theme and meter it can be assumed that the storm is spreading word of his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Picasso-Braque Comparison Essay During the 1920s and early 1930s, Braque painted a series of still lifes representing a return to a CГ©zannian means of expressing depth and surface composition. As an heir of Cezanne, Braque had inherited the possibility of applying to painting the economy and precision traditional in the craftsman milieu from which he came. The two great influences on Braque s development were CГ©zanne s work and his relationship with Picasso; an understanding of the complexity of the Picasso Braque reciprocity is necessary in order to interpret the stylistic differences that finally separated the two artists. In Verre, pomme, serviette et pipe, as with other works executed during the same period, Braque was experimenting with a heightened abstraction of form and the elision of space, light and perspective. The final result of Braque s effort, which was painted in 1931, is something of a doctrinaire pre World War II Cubist (kemper) composition, having generated the tactile space through the use of overlap, translucency and the repetition of both form and color. From the muted venetian red of the apple to the gradated burnt umber of the background planes, which are articulated like panels on a screen, the artist has tapped into the heavy, earthen palette HE FAVORED? we find in other works produced in the 1930s. Caffeine And Heart Rate Experiment This paper explores and explains the findings of the heart rate experiment conducted by the students of Grand Canyon University for the Anatomy and Physiology 202 Laboratory course. Over a two week time span, students were asked to record their heart rate, before, during, and after activities as instructed by the professor. Specifically, this paper focuses on the female students, comparing the heart rates of individuals who reported that they drink coffeeversus those females who reported that they do not drink coffee. The effects of caffeinecontained in the coffee were examined and it was noted that those who drink coffee have lower heart rates before, during, and after times of examination. These findings suggested that the hypothesis proposed prior to research, Females Who Drink Coffee Have a Higher Heart Rate Prior to Exams, was an incorrect statement. This meant that the main income for the commercial and investment banks came from selling these mortgages, which meant that the more mortgages they had to sell, the more income they would be getting. While these mortgage requirements were getting lower and lower, more people would be borrowing which in turn also meant that the risks of the final owners of these mortgages were increasing. You may ask why they still permitted these loans, but since all of these final owners would be owning an extremely large amount of loans, they wouldn t be able to individually check each loan and ensure that they are healthy. First, to understand the importance of a counselor s characteristics, it should be understood that a counselor uses him/herself as a tool in assisting clients in various ways. Carroll stated: When human beings [counselors] work they use themselves as the main focus of their work, they infuse themselves into it, they become it; it is them at work, not just work done by them. Their work changes from being a job, or indeed even a career, to becoming an extension of themselves, of who they are. The distances between the orthocenter and the vertices are always very different, and in our situation, the location of the hospital would be ridiculously close to one of the cities, and very far from the others. A person could use the incenter for the answer in the hospital problem because it accounts for the trails /paths taken to one city from another. However, it doesn t account for the cities, only their paths. Someone might use the centroid for the hospital problem because the centroid has equal area surrounding it, which is why it is considered the center of gravity, as it is where everything balances equally. Because of this, the area between each of the hospitals paths are equal. However, it still isn t of equal distance from each of the three capitals. A person would use the circumcenter because it would be equidistant from each of the three cities, making the traveling time for each equal and fair. The circumcenter is clearly the best option. For instance, drunk drivers don t take control of themselves once they are intoxicated. They get behind the wheel rather than calling a taxi, which puts other people s lives in danger. There has been 1,142 people who were killed in crashes involving a drunk driver in Minnesota from the years 2003 2012. Through the events of when Victor Frankenstein creates the monster and abandons it, him not speaking at Justine s trial, and Robert Walton turning back to save his shipmates, Shelley shows that people should take responsibility for their actions. In A Partial Remembrance of a Puerto Rican Childhood, Judith Cofer accomplishes three powerful achievements: she gives details on the stories of her family experiences, shows her family stories in a strong imaginative language, and points out how family stories can take over a person s life. This essay seems to be very tricky because she goes from one story to another. Cofer s claim would be very difficult to understand if she started with one story; instead, she should finish explaining the initial story before moving on to the next one. He wrote Cosmos in 1980 as a way of explaining his ideas to the world and furthering the points made in his television series, also called Cosmos. Cosmos begins out with the Cosmos themselves, and how they came to be discovered by humans living on Earth. Sagan explains how he once worked at a genetics lab, breeding fruit flies to see how their traits were passed down. He relates it to the evolution of DNA, and how evolution might very well be unique to Earth. When he talks about the coevolution of plants and animals, he explains how oxygen made from plants makes organic molecules fall to pieces He says, Despite our fondness for it, it is fundamentally a poison for unprotected organic matter (Sagan 29). This is evident in the module Texts in Time; as Blade Runner, having been written more than one hundred years after Frankenstein is still able to reflect the ideas proposed in the latter. Blade Runnerby Ridley Scott deals with the effects of globalisation and consumerism during 1980 s. Alternatively, the epistolary novel Frankensteinby Mary Shelley deals with the kinship to the natural world set in the Romantic Era and enlightenment period. However Blade Runner, although subjected by a different context, also portrays a similar idea to Frankenstein; the fear of science and technology coupled with the value of the definition of a human. Through this commonality, we are able to utilise the values of Blade Runner in order to truly understand Shelley s purpose. During the 1980 s, the increasing amount of industrialisation brought about a new period in time, the Industrial Revolution. Literally revolutionising the world, the Industrial Revolution changed the way the world was perceived, no longer an agricultural based society but instead one overrun with globalisation and consumerism. Fraud would also be a concern if someone supplies false information in order to get benefits that they do not qualify for. The Gamble, John Sides And Lynn Vavreck Political campaigning is now the full fledged live version of chess, with pawns, queens and kings, but is all this parading and strategizing actually important? What is even the purpose behind political campaigns; is it to inform the public about a candidate or through clever means to win an election at all costs? The truth of the matter is that campaigns do actually serve an important purpose in the political world of America. Its purpose is to help inform voters about candidates and to improve the number of voters at the polling place. In order for these goals to be achieved there needs to be a clear platform upon which the campaign is built. In the book The Gamble, John Sides and Lynn Vavreck write that a successful campaign takes advantage of the fundamentals, national conditions that set the stage for the campaign, (2). These fundamentals are conditions that the candidate has no control over, like the economy, their opponent, obstacles or opportunities, and how the candidate reacts to them affect their ability to be elected (Sides and Vavreck 2). It is upon these fundamentals that a campaign is built. They inform political stances and future decisions of the campaign, which makes them an important foundation. With a racism and persecution at a high level, racial minorities were ready to fight back. In the first half of the Twentieth century the mistreatment of racial minorities led to a War for Equality; fought on many levels with varying levels of success. The war was fierce and did not end in the first half of the Twentieth Century. Like any war the War for Equality had its causes, in this case the war was brought about by the continued mistreatment of racial minorities. This mistreatment came in many forms: segregation, violation of other civil rights, and violence. Racial minorities faced segregation on different levels. Blacks were kept out of public facilities in the South, Mexicans in the West, and Chinese out of America itself. In 1896 The Supreme Court case, Plessy v.
