History Of The Insanity Plea
The insanity plea has been around since 1843 when it was first used in London during the M
Naghten case. The insanity plea made its first appearance in the United States in 1859 after
Congressman Daniel Sickles murdered the man who his wife was having an affair with.
However, a more recent and rather public use of the insanity plea is against James Eagan
Holmes. James is being charged with murder and attempted murder after he maliciously attacked
an Aurora Colorado movie theatre in 2012. James shot and killed 12 people and wounded 70
others. According to one source (2011, Black s Law, Bryan A. Garner) insanity is Any mental
disorder sever enough that it prevents a person from having legal capacity and excuses the person
from criminal or civil responsibility, insanity is a legal, not a medical, standard. Another source
states In order for one person to be considered for the insanity plea, they must have a psychiatric
evaluation and prove they were insane during the committing of the crime. (1965, Psychiatric
Justice, Thomas S. Szasz, M.D) If someone pleads not guilty by reason of insanity, than they
undergo mental rehabilitation. The length of time in the mental rehabilitation is determined by how
long it takes the individual to be mentally prepared to re appear in court. After the individual is fit
for re trial, the individual returns to court and will than plead guilty or not guilty. In most trials, the
defendant serves a punishment that is not as severe as it was

Nt1310 Unit 3 Assignment 1 Network Design
To meet the requirements given, the network was designed to be both scalable and secure. The
networks required a specific number of hosts for the LAN each connection to the switches. For
the EIGRP and OSPF companies, the devices used VLSM and were given /19, which provided
many more addresses than the required 120 and 250. This addressing made sense, due to its
scalability and because were seven devices on these networks. Had the network used a /24 an
entire octet of addresses would have been wasted. For the RIP company, to account for its users
a /24 was used because it allowed for 250 hosts and it could use vlsm and not waste addresses. A
network professional must plan for current as well as future needs. This is discussed in Optical
Network Design and Planning as it relates to wireless networks. A design issue in some wireless
networks is the ability of a system to allow for a specified number of hosts to transmit information
without completely changing the design of the current network (Vinod Kumar Verma, Surinder
Singh, Nagendra P. Pathak, 2014).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Security is almost certainly the most difficult aspect of a network to perfect. It is important to have
the correct procedures and components in place to make certain network security is being
accounted for and addressed on any given network. The journal, Future Generation Computer
Systems elaborates on this necessity for an information system. Future Generation Computer
Systems , this component of a network is discussed thoroughly. Essentially securing an Information
System (IS), involves identifying unique threats and challenges which need to be addressed by
implementing the appropriate countermeasures (Dimitrios Zissis, Dimitrios Lekkas, 2012). This
was achieved through configuring access lists as well as CHAP configuration on the routers

Devil In The White City Essay
Erik Larson s book Devil in the White City is full of magic and madness that has shaped the
society of the late 19th century that is specific to in Chicago. The issues that have been handled
through this time frame that are addressed in this book is that how Chicago was known to be the
black city at first, and how the city hoped that hosting the World s fair would increase their
reputation. Secondly, the magic of a man named Daniel Burnhamthat did put the plans of the world

The thought of Chicago hosting the world s fair would be daunting at first, but it could turn
around the reputation of Chicago from one of a city of gloom and darkness, to one of a city of light
and progress from the Great Chicago fire of 1871, and that city would be fascinating for years to
come. Chicago would get an economic shot in the arm from the revenue that it would get from
hosting the 1893 World Fair and it would make Chicago into a great city of America. The event
and also the transformation that would happen to the city of Chicago would not have happened
if it would not be for one great man who had taken up the challenge to make sure to host this
1893 World fair. The Magic of Mister Daniel Burnham would be the tool that would be behind
the greatest fair that Chicago has even seen in the history of its city. Daniel Burnham was forty
three years old at the time he would receive news that Chicago would be the site of the fair, and
he worked as an architect in Chicago. He was one of the best architects in Chicago because he and
James Root were the first to design the towering building that would make cities build upwards, the
skyscraper. That high achievement was would test Daniel Burnham and James Root even more so
because of the fair that they were tasked to construct and build up eventually. The

-the Role of the Leader in Managing a Crisis
MASTER IN INTERNATIOANAL COMMUNICATION
The role of the leader in managing a crisis:
Case Study
The Truth is that no one factor makes a company admirable. But if you were forced to pick the one
that makes the most difference, you d pick leadership. (Warren Bennis, 1998)
Leadership is today`s most contreversial and commented topic. Do we really know what
leadership is all about? Today leadership is becomming a more and more a demanding task.
John Kotter (2001), a leadership expert at the Harvard Business School, defines leadership as the
ability to cope with change. Leadership is a process of social influence in which one person can
enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task . (Chemers M. ... Show

It is clear that when a crisis event occurs, it requires close monitoring from a leader and swift
actions implemented to advert the crisis. If this is not adhered to, not only does the occurrence
threaten the current activities of an organisation but it may also affect the general structure of a
company. If we work with an example to define the crisis we can liken a crisis to a virus placed
into a weakened body the effect on the body is inversely proportional to the power of constitution.
Causation of a Crisis:
Environmental change leaves an organization faced with the crisis situation out of step with the
time and in accordance, ignorance and miscommunication situations, educational activities are
insufficient and incorrect, inadequate, such as communication and coordination. There are many
sources, and why. Some of them are bigger than others dangerous and can cause problems, but the
point is to remember each of various levels of organization under threat. Aylin Pira, Г‡isil Sahodol,

College Essay On Social Anxiety
Fitting In
Social Anxiety is stopping me from success of achieving my dreams and goals in life; my
weakness is shyness, lack of self confidence and fear of public speaking. Another words, it s
difficult to admit, however, I am suffering from SAD (social anxiety disorder), otherwise known as
phobia, which is the most common anxiety disorder.
I m a shy and quite person by nature. Most of the time, don t feel comfortable expressing my
opinion and thoughts. I m definitely not a leader type person (though sometimes I push myself to
be one). Public speaking literately terrifies me. A panic attack kicks in, ones I start talking in front
of large groups of people.
College can be an intimidating environment for people like me who are going through social anxiety
. A simple hi while seeing someone pass by, can be a little uncomfortable and awkward at times;
yet, a simple hi can entirely change the communication behavior for the better, a much greater
result every time saying hi , and taking one step at a time. Confidence doesn t necessarily come
natural to shy people and can be challenging.
Another challenge is talking to professors, whether it was in a classroom asking a question, or

when I leave the classroom, I usually said something like Have a good day! , Have a great
weekend! , or See you Wednesday! The response that I receive back is was always kind and
generous. Now, I always smile and try to be friendlier, and look less shy then I really

Violence Breeds Adulthood Throughout The World
Violence Breeds Adulthood In the time as which my parents grew up the world was very
different. They played outside at all hours of the night and they got into more trouble with each
other and less with the law. Growing up I had always heard my dad s stories of wandering around
the small town with his friends getting into fights and meeting girls. Somehow now day s things
have changed but remain the same. For instance, we often act like boys fighting at a young age is
just stupid or even childish but to a boythese fights are often almost something he will need to for
the rest of his life it is almost as the fights begin to shape a boy physically and mentally. Fights
prepare him for the physical struggles he may later face. If a man... Show more content on

Men typically are greasy when they have low income or live near a ghetto or suburb often
meaning they have learned the harsh reality of the streets such as bare knuckle brawling or
drugs and drinking something. These boys have low experience with giving him the edge.
Then, Boyle writes, I came at him like a kamikaze, mindless, raging... I came at him and brought
the tire iron down across his ear (572) The boys were in a situation of oppressing odds. They
tried their hardest to fight back but part of being a man is to adapt to new situations, the boy s
primal instincts took over. Boyle uses the term kamikaze and mindless because to throw
yourself at something without fear or worry of death is to become strong mentally in the fact
that you may die or wind up in jail. The boy was forced to adapt to his situation and used a tire
iron knowing his fist would be worthless adapting this and surviving as he feared for his life. The
tire is most likely used in this story because tire irons represent change and replacing the old with
the new for example the boy is losing his childhood and overcoming this to become a man. The
boy learns the reality of violence and death. Boyle states, In one of those nasty little epiphanies for
which we are prepared by films and TV and childhood visits to the funeral home to ponder the
shrunken painted forms of dead grandparents (573). The boy may have been prepped since
childhood to understand death but nothing could compare to the true

Taxing and E-Commerce Essay
Taxing and E Commerce
With the advent of the Internet, e commerce exploded, and in 2003, the estimated value of online
sales was 95.7 billion dollars (epaynews). It also is estimated that 30% of online users buy online
(epaynews). As e commerce and the revenues from e commerce increase, so do the questions and
problems concerning taxes. Because of the global nature of the World Wide Web
, and more than
30,000 tax jurisdictions in the United States (US), (Internet Taxation) it is easy to see the
complications that exist in the taxation of e commerce. Who do you tax? How is it collected? Can
taxes be collected from a sale that was made in another state, and what is considered a substantial
nexus in the buyers state. Because 75% of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of the issues with this type of tax are whether it should be per use, per month or per year.
Another issue involved with this tax is how it would be implemented and whether there would
be extra fees related to the type of connection. For example, would the fee be changed based on a
DSL vs. a regular modem connection? (Internet Taxation). The second type of tax involves
intangible goods or downloads such as: emails, software, music etcetera. Obviously, this tax
would involve all those that access this type of material. The administration of such a tax again
poses a problem, for example, how should international emails be handled or an international
user who download software from an American company web site. The final type of tax that
could be levied is a sales tax. Although it would only affect those who purchase items on line, it
would have potential to be an enormous source of revenue. Currently, the sales tax is the largest
revenue source for federal, state and local governments. (Internet Taxation) In 2003, online retail
was estimated at 68.4 (epaynews) billion dollars, all of which would be taxable and would
increase the federal state and local tax revenues. Again, administration and division of revenue
cause a problem, but there is also the problem of classification of the product. This is a problem
because it is only subject to sales tax if it is classified as a good. As seen, there are many different
types of Internet taxation to be

Biological Psychology When most hear the words biological/psychology, many tend to have
trouble rapping their mind around it. Psychology is the study of behavior, so how does biology fit
into this equation? Well we have to assume that our brainhas influence or somehow effects are
behavior. In order to prove or disprove this theory, we have to research the biology and psychology
of both the brain and our behavior. So how do we do this, well first we have to understand the
brain and how it functions, as humans we have roughly 100 billion nerve cells in the brain. This is
an overwhelming amount to keep track of at one time but ever so important to researchers. Nerve ...

Restricting Communism with the Marshall Plan
The source in question is an extract from the United States Secretary of State George C. Marshall
s commencement speech for receiving an honorary degree from Harvard University; it was
delivered on the 5th of June, 1947 at Harvard University.
The speech was created primarily Charles Bohlen, a Soviet expert and Marshall s special assistant,
and later revised by Marshall. Department officials, including George Kennan and William Clayton
saw the Marshall Plan as a way of restricting Communist growth in Europe, by strengthening the
struggling democratic European nations . After the end of WWII in 1945, the majority of Europe
was in ruins; over a third of the European industry was destroyed by the war, resulting in weak
economies, and millions of people unemployed and starving, causing low morale. As economies
were not improving at a rapid enough pace, combined with high unemployment and a hungry
population, people started to look for change. Communism began to look promising, and was
becoming increasingly popular in Europe through rebels and partisans. In an attempt confine the
spread of Communism, Marshall was sent to Moscow to negotiate with Stalin. Initially, Stalin
welcomed the possibility of Soviet participation in a U.S funded European reconstruction program.
However, Stalin opposed the idea of a coordinated multilateral aid programme, which was seen to
threaten the Soviet political and economic position in Eastern Europe , and withdrew all support and
insisted that

The Four Stages In Ovid s Metamorphoses
Pythagoras was a Greek philosopher born in 570 B.C.E. In Ovid s the Metamorphoses, Pythagoras
discusses a variety of beliefs including the four ages of man, autogenesis, and vegetarianism.
The four stages of man as described by Pythagoras states, that the year displays four aspects,
passing through them, in a semblance of our life. Each season represents a different aspect of man.
Spring is a delicate time of year full of new beginnings and hope. Summer is described as
powerful, rich, and expansive. Fall is the time between youth and age. Pythagoras describes winter
as hair turning white. Each and every day we change as people. We are youthful and then after the
middle years we decline as life moves on. In the Ovid, Milon an athlete who ... Show more content

Pythagoras had fled Samos because the leaders were tyrants. By ws exiled, but he continued to

a disgrace to eat meat. His excuse for not eating meat was that the earth provides crops and we
should use these to our advantage and not shed the blood of animals. Pythagoras

Pythagoras calls eating animals for food wicked and says those who eat meat not worthy of

circle of life allows for the predators to eat their prey. Humans do defy this stereotype due to

What Is The Theme Of Touching The Void
Touching the void by Joe Simpson is a vivid, intense and powerful story of a horrifying
adventure in the Peruvian Andes. Two experienced climbers, Joe Simpson and Simon Yates, set
out to conquer the mountain Siula Grande. They do indeed achieve their aim, but disaster strikes
on the way down and Simon has to make an impossible decision should he cut the rope holding
Joe, thereby saving his own life, or should he stay attached, leading to certain death for both of
them? They face an almost impossible journey, where their survival instinct and absolute
courage, triumph the human spirit over the power of mother nature s battle. Alpine Style
climbing can be very dangerous and is also the style Joe and Simon used. This means carrying
all of one s food, shelter, equipment, etc. climbing up the mountain. The novel as a whole
demonstrates survival, because it s all about a man who had the extraordinary ability of human
nature to survive, physically and mentally. When Joe was in the crevasse, he was trying to find a
way out but he couldn t. He stated, There was no going back now, yet inside I was screaming to

A Group Of Advisory Councillors From Google
SUMMARY
A group of advisory councillors from Google wrote a report on The Right to Be Forgotten policy
in 2015. This policy was created in an effort to offer a balance between freedom of expression and
the press. The Right to be Forgotten offers citizens the ability to request for their information to be
removed from the results of a Google search. The removal of these search results, or links, upon
the request of an individual is referred to as delisting (Floridi et al., 2015). Delisting allows web
users to maintain and protect their privacy by limiting the public s access to information about them.
It is important to note, however, that while citizens may apply to be delisted, Google does not have
to comply with this request. Google ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, citizens should have the right to access information that is germane to the public.
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE POLICY
The policy first outlines the nature of the rights at issue in the ruling. Google must decide whether
the general public should have the right to easily access an individual s information via the search
engine. Google must also consider if the individual requesting to delist experiences harm from
[public] accessibility to the information (Floridi et al., 2015, p. 6).
Next, the policy addresses the way in which Google must assess each delisting request according
to four key pieces of criteria: the data subject s role in public life, the nature of the information,
the source, and time (Floridi et al., 2015). When evaluating the data subject s role in public life,
Google considers three different types of citizens: individuals with a public personality (e.g.
politicians), individuals with no public personality (i.e. average citizens), and those with a defined
role in public life (e.g. school directors). Ultimately, the more involved a citizen is in the public
sphere, the less likely they are to be delisted.
Google also considers the nature of the information. Financial records, private contact information,
and false information, are all deemed worthy of privacy according to Google. If, however, the
information biases toward a public interest (e.g. information related to criminal offences),

Australia is split into different states and territories that have their own government. These
territories include the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, the Northern Territory,
Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria, and Western Australia. This is important to note
because each individual state government manages the schools within its territory (Immi.Gov).
They provide both the regulations and funding to both the public and private schools, though the
government only provides the public schooling and private schools are offered by Churches and
other groups (Immi.Gov). Some of the biggest differences between our US School system and the

are not entitled to the Commonwealth Program. The Commonwealth support program allows
students to only pay part of the fees while the program pays the rest of the balance (Working In

What Is The Purpose Of Cadavers
In my paper you will be pleased to find that I talked about three different topics that are important
to me discussing Stiff by Mary Roach. The first topic talks about how cadavers are used in so
many different areas and kinds of research. Cadavers are used in many different areas of research,
but all areas give information that will better the future. Without the knowledge the use of cadavers
give us, we would be so uneducated in not only the medical field, but many other fields of study as

The Louisiana Purchase Essays
The Louisiana Purchase was done in the year 1803. In this purchase the United
States of America paid fifteen million dollars to get all the land west of the Mississippi
River and east of the Rocky Mountains. This transaction was done between Thomas
Jefferson and the great Napoleon. The benefits that the United States of America
experienced from this purchase were numerous. For one, it gave the U.S. complete
control of the Mississippi, which in tern helped many farmers with transporting
goods. Second, it more than doubled the size of the United States. With this huge
amounts of land, the government could set up more farms to feed the young but
growing nation. Despite these benefits, however, many people believe ... Show more content on

When the ambassadors have arrived in Paris, they quickly began to negotiate with
Napoleon and his advisors. Napoleon then offered the American ambassadors a deal of a
lifetime the whole Louisiana lands for only fifteen million dollars. Now why would
France want to sell all this land? For one, there was a civil war in the Island of Haiti.
There the slaves have revolted and won independence from France. Napoleon tried
hopelessly to get the Island of Haiti back under control, but it was to no avail. Without
control of Haiti the lands of Louisiana were useless to France, and thus Napoleon decided
to sell it to the Americans. Moreover, Napoleon was planning to conquer all of Europe,
this meant war with Great Britain. Since Napoleon knew that Britain would easily
gain France s overseas lands, he decided to sell them for fifteen million dollars. Robert
Livingston and James Monroe contacted Jefferson, who only wanted to get New Orleans,
for advice, and the final decision. Jefferson, seeing it as an opportunity, agreed to pay
fifteen million dollars to get all of the Louisiana lands. This land sale, probably the
largest in history, was negotiated early in 1803. (Curti 247).
Napoleon s offer to sell land pleased Jefferson, but it also troubled him, for he
believed that the Constitution did not allow him to buy huge amounts of land. This was

Antigone By Sophocles Antigone
In Sophocles, Antigone begins with the stages of grief as Antigone mourns the loss of her two
brothers, Polyneikes and Eteokles, who die simultaneously in face to face combat in Thebes.
Eteokles dies with honor fighting for the Thebesians and is honored with rituals and a proper
burial. The body of Polyneikes, who attempted to burn the city of Thebes, is left for the dogs
and birds to savage. Thesbesian s law forbids anyone giving a traitor, like Polyneikes, a proper
burial, for that itself is a crime punishable by death. Antigone is angered that Polyneikes is not
going to receive a proper burial and is determined that she must honor him even if it means the end
of her life. Antigone alone attempts to bury her brother, but is captured and imprisoned, at which
point she decides to form a noose around her neck and end her life. Sophoclesleaves the reader to
question whether Antigone s suicide is an act of heroism, a stand for the citizens of Thebes, or a
selfish way of coping with personal trauma. Antigone sought assistance in burying her brother
from her only family member alive, her sister, Ismene, who tries to reason with her. Ismene
proclaims, Remember, we re women. How can we fight men? They re stronger (Sophocles 749).
The physical statures of neither Polyneikes nor Antigone were not ever mentioned, but in general
men typically weigh more and have a larger build than women. We have to assume that she doesn t

Taking a Look at Coordinating Compounds
Coordinating compounds, usually noted by their Indo Aryan name dvandva . Coordination
complexes were notable since the start of chemistry. The definition and border of the class of
coordinating compounds involves two issues: initially, what a compound is and how can we
distinguish coordinative compounds from alternative multiword expressions; second, the
understanding of what coordination is, and the way it s to be distinguished from alternative, non
symmetrical relations (e.g. subordination). The major breakthrough occurred once Alfred Werner
put forward in 1893 that Co(III) bears six ligands in an octahedral geometry. His theory permits
one to grasp the distinction between coordinated and ionic in a compound, for instance chloride
within the cobalt ammine chlorides and to clarify several of the earlier unexplainable isomers. In
1914, Werner resolved the first coordination complex, known as hexol, into optical isomers,
overthrowing the idea that solely carbon compounds may possess chirality.
Introduction
Coordination compound is a compound formed from a Lewis acid and a BrГёnsted base , a
Lewis acid being an electron pair acceptor and a BrГёnsted base a proton acceptor. Thus the
interaction of the Lewis acid metal centre as in Ni(ClO4)2 with the BrГёnsted base ammonia to
make a complex in line with the given equation: Ni(ClO4)2 + 6NH3 в†’ [Ni(NH3)6](ClO4)2

The 1936 Olympic games in Berlin came as a bolt from the blue; the whole world was caught
unaware, as everyone expected the games to be a huge catastrophe. Despite the fact that Germany
was in great amount of debt after world war one, the Nazis took advantage of the Olympics to
promote a new, strong, and united Germany. But behind closed doors, Germany was establishing
racist policies as well as flourishing its militarism. It s apparent that, Adolf HitlerNazi dictatorship

The International Olympic Committee decision to present Germany the
games was before Germany s major turning point in politics. In 1933 Germany experienced a
change of political leadership; democracy was eradicated, and totalitarianism took its place. Nazi
party leader Adolf Hitler became Chancellor of Germany and quickly claimed all aspects of
German life. At first, Hitler was not passionate about hosting the Olympics until the propaganda
minister convinced Hitler that the success of German athletes in the games would reveal Germans
(Aryans) dominance to the world. He argued that spectacular Nazi Games would show to the world
that Germans are sports enthusiasts capable of staging a magnificent athletic festival. Beside
visitors would go home to their countries believing they had nothing to fear from Nazi Germany.
Therefore, Hitler emphasized on recruiting German athletes and extending sports facilities for
Olympics competitions. Ultimately the Nazi party burned the candle at both ends to ensure
successful games. In April 1933, a new racist policy was established: Jewish or part Jewish and
Romani athletes were thoroughly disbarred from German sport facilities and associations.
Numerous regulations and rules were created by the Nazis to shut out Jews from all aspects of
German society. Some of the Jews eliminated from the Olympic team were in fact

Aerobic Exercise Release Stress Research Paper
Aerobic Exercise Releases Stress Psychologists have researched and tested the theory that aerobic
exercise combats emotional distress, relieving stressors that combine with negative thinking
patterns. Studies have brought psychologists to the conclusion that not only does aerobic exercise
release stress, but people who perform these exercises tend to show a significant decrease in
negative and depressive symptoms.
They tested this theory at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA, on ninety five eligible male and
female participants ranging from eighteen to thirty six years old using various methodologies. The
participants required to complete three in person lab visits, participated in different activities each
visit. On the first visit, they completed a questionnaire followed by a twenty five minute activity,
that consisted of resting, stretching or cycling. After completion, participants then undergo a
computerized test, which includes: the N back a memory test using twenty various trials, an

Government Privacy Analysis
How much do you know about the American government? Does the government respect the
privacy of their citizens? Is the government violating Americans privacy? In 2013 a guy named
Edward Snowden released government files that prove that the government has a file for every
cell phone in America. Meaning that every text message, photo, phone call, email, etc is being
recorded, making it easier for the government to track down anyone that they want. Americans
privacy is being violated very similarly to the privacy violations in 1984, a novel written by George

person s cell phone file, and review every text message, phone call, email, etc. Thanks to a guy

government does behind the people s backs. Edward Snowden worked for the NSA and had many
important roles. When Snowden came across these files he felt the need the documents because he
believed that these types of decisions should be determined by the public. And just like Edward
Snowden I do strongly believe that the government should not have made the decision of recording

In conclusion, every person with a cellular device does have a file that the government has just

Similarities Between Hidden Figures And Bend It Like Beckham
The movies Hidden Figures, and Bend it like Beckham, directed by Theodore Melfi and Gurinder
Chadha respectively, both explore the dangers that are inherent in a marginalised society. Each text
demonstrates that hope for change is needed in society as it can build the momentum for an
individual to strive. Through these texts, it is observed that people have no conscience about
harming others until they learn the truth about their circumstances. This is depicted by the way in
which Jess coach Joe behaves after learning about her cultural expectations in Bend it like
Beckham. Similarly, this is shown in Hidden Figures by Mr. Harrison. Both directors emphasise
that the abuse of power leads to corruption and this can be seen through the segregation between the
black and white people in Hidden Figures and the way in which cultural values overrule the lives of
the Bhamra s in Bend it like Beckham. Both characters highlight the importance of creating
opportunities rather than seeking it, this is shown when Mary Jackson goes to court for educational
rights in Hidden Figures and in Bend it like Beckham when Jess stands up to her father who appears
to be patriotic about his culture. The resolutions to both texts justify that determination comes from
within and that though many factors can outweigh a person s ability to triumph, consistency can
lead to rewarding results. Through the use of cinematic techniques we are able to further increase
our understanding of perseverance

The music increases in tempo and becomes louder in order to raise tension. Time is running out
as her home begins to sink. The tempo of the music acts as a clock, ticking away the time Mrs.
Brisby and the rats have to save the children. It mimics her own heart beat as she becomes fearful
for their lives. Once she uses the magic of the stone the music goes from being a terrible thunder to
a voice of triumph. The change in music makes the audience feel the tension release by going from
a loud foreboding sound to a quiet gentle sound. Mrs. Brisby will save her children and
everything will be all right. The lighting also cues the audience in on when the danger has
passed. Along with the music the shots become increasingly low lighted. The light goes dim and
gradually becomes darker with every shot. Once the home had sunken all the way down the
light on Mrs. Brisby fades. It is as if her very life, her will and hope vanish at the presumed loss
of her children. The lighting shows the audience what she feels: sadness, hopelessness, despire
and lost. When she uses the stone and its magic the shot is abruptly interrupted by rays of bright
light, turning the scene from low key lighting to high key lighting. The light is Mrs. Brisby s
bravery, returning her hope and allowing her the will to save her family. It is that beam of light
that inspires hope in Mrs. Brisby and she uses it to pull her home from the mud. It is when she

Queer Culture
In today s media, it is no longer unusual to see queers in the spotlight whether that is in TV shows,
in celebrity news, or even in advertisements. This definitely seems like a big win for the LGBTQ
movement on the surface but is society actually accepting of queer culture? A prominent big win
for activists was the legalization of gay marriagein 2015. However, many queerstudies scholars are
skeptical of the mainstream LGBTQ movement s focus on marriage rights because it is based on
homonormative politics that continues to uphold oppressive institutions and because it does not
tackle the actual underlying social issues. Instead of focusing on marriage, activists should

Along with this, heteronormative institutions, like marriage and the nuclear family structure, are
increasingly being held up as a vision of the good life (Berlant and Warner 173). Not only is this
belief deeply rooted in hetero norms, it also rejects the existence of intimacies outside the nuclear
family structure. Thus, queer public cultures, like Christopher Street in Manhattan, are needed to
provide a space for intimacies outside of marriage, such as girlfriends, gal pals, fuckbuddies, and
tricks (Berlant and Warner 175). Queer public spaces are thus needed to validate unconventional
intimacies and to elaborate a public world of belonging and transformation (Berlant and Warner

a politically centered approach, some queer activists, most prominently, the Independent Gay

Juvenile Delinquency In The US
Introduction
It is believed that children are the products of their environment. With their brains often compared
to sponges, children tend to mimic the language and the actions of those around them, and absorb
those things into their memory. (Briggs, Grella, Allen Burton, Yarmuth, Taylor, 2012) There are
many studies on the causes of juvenile delinquency, but there is much debate as to who and what
is considered the primary factors of influence. This topic is important because juvenile delinquency
continues to be a huge problem in the U.S; in 2012 alone, there was approximately 1,319,700
juvenile arrests (Puzzenchera, 2014). The primary group in this research are those adolescents who

The inner city neighborhood itself is primarily the reason as to why both delinquency and
dropping out occurs consecutively. According to the current study done by Seijeoung, Maaza,
Zwanziger, and Henry (2014), children (unlike their high income counterparts) living low
income based neighbors are more inclined to have a bad academic performance in school, may
act on impulse and exhibit negative behavioral problems. Lower levels of school performance
could be due to environmental factors such as home and the neighborhood as an added stress
especially for impoverished neighborhoods (Seijeoung et al, 2014). Lower grades then gives youth
a reason to drop out and give up. It is almost as though one thing enables another. In order to

trampled on a path which has been seen as a way to redefine the war in Iraq, an effective scheme
to bring the command of Assad to its crumbling demises and to recalibrate an inclusive plan to
collapse the Islamic Government of Iran. Immediately coinciding with the withdrawal of US forces
from Iraq, an organized string of deadly explosions gripped Iraq, leading to the massacre of dozens
of civilians. Multiple bomb explosions happening simultaneously in Baghdad, claiming the lives of
countless innocent civilians. Another series of explosions targeted Shia Muslims killing at least 71
people. Most of the explosions which targeted the Shia Muslims are maliciously meant to inspire
the feeling and doubt that it is a matter of sectarian violence, a plot devised by the US and its allies
to justify that the Iraqi politicians are intent to provoke a communal bloodletting which is gradually
tearing the country apart. Washington began to capitalize on tension in the country and playing the
religious card on one hand and sending a message that Iraq is not capable of maintaining security
and stability in the country on the other.
As the situation stands, Washington is redefining the war in Iraq by provoking chaos and
commotion in the ravaged country with three apparent motivations.. One, to create the impression
that the withdrawal of US troops was a mistake and that the country is diving into

In the journal article The Role of Siblings in Adoption Outcomes and Experiences From
Adolescence to Emerging Adulthood the only biographical information about the authors is their
names, the universities they are from, the departments, and their funding. The three authors are
Rachel H. Farr from University of Kentucky and in the Department of Psychology. The other two
authors are Margaux R. Flood and Harold D. Grotevant both from the University of Massachusetts

3.This reseach report was based off three studies dealing with adoptees and their families; both
biolgical and adoption. The object of the study was to see how participant s developmental effects
and adoption experiences from childhood to starting adulthood are connected with sibling
relationship dynamics. They expected that the results would indicate that the changes to starting
adults may relate to the changes in birth family contact from some adopted siblings. Each of the
studies had a different hypothesis based on their study, study one hypothesized that there would be
a decrease in adoptee s contact with birth family as the adoptee got older. Study two, hypothesized
that the target adopteess would be benefited when their siblings participated in

Federal Deposit Insurance System Analysis
Due to the financial disruption of the 1930s, the federal government intervened in the banking
system for the sake of the banks depositors protection of their deposits. With this action, the creation
of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation enabled stability in the economy and the shortcoming
banking system during the times of the Great Depression. Still currently utilized, the FDIC ensures
trust within the banking system for the reason that depositors acknowledge that their deposits are
insured when banks are failing. This backbone of the economy prevents banks from failing and
other financial crisis occurring, while simultaneously easing the panic of depositors. The
establishment of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation creates

Ulfric War Fair
Shackle, shackle, shackle! As hundreds of dark skinned slaves tied from feet to feet with metal
chains made these sounds. Their backs ache from digging, and planting as they cry from pain. As
the newest shipment of slaves moved along you can see through their teary eyes that they had fear.
Yet one slave enraged by the fact that he must be a slave decided that it wasn t fair.
Ulfric a young, skeletal looking boy at the age of 16 had just arrived in the slave town with tens
of other slaves as they were the newest shipment of workers. Taken from their homelands and their
families and forced to work on the plantations. Ulfric was assigned the role of plantation farmer,
but has no experience in this field of work, and was punished if not done ... Show more content on

And so on weeks by weeks the soldiers in the fortress started to die one by one. Than sooner than
later there were more guns than soldiers as nearly half of them died. During mid December was
when the soldiers inside started to lose firewood and so on more of them died due to the coldness.
While the soldiers suffered a cold death the slaves celebrated their victory with a toast of wine and
fine beer they had found in the cellars.
Hip Hip Hooray As multiple slaves yelled at once.
Many dankie to you Ulfric Someone says in Afrikaan language.
But the war was not over yet.
On the last day of December was the day that Ulfric gave the order. Burn the fortress walls down, lit
your arrows with fire and shoot at the main gate. He says in a very aggressive voice.
As the dry crumbled wood walls burned to the ground the slaves charged in with a bang as their
muskets fire all at once. They charged and battered every door, every room until they found the
mayor of the town.
I surrender, just don t shoot. As the plumped up mayor quickly says in a stuttering voice as he
scrambles under his desk.
Few years have passed since the rebellion which freed more than 500 slaves from the town once
known for being a harsh slave community, but now it is controlled by Ulfric as he rules over the

The Renaissance Period And Artemisia Gentileschi Of The...
Introduction
When one thinks of influential Western artists, images of the works of Michelangelo or
Caravaggio might be evoked. In fact, most paintings one may think of would have been
completed by men. Most of the art movements in the western world were in fact lead and
contributed to by men, especially in the Renaissance and Baroque period. Even though art as a
profession in these time periods was dominated by male artists, female artists did, in fact, make
significant contributions to their respective art movements. This paper will discuss and compare
the lives and works of two Italian painters: Sofonisba Anguissola of the Renaissance period and
Artemisia Gentileschi of the Baroque period.
Sofonisba Anguissola

Thanks to Sofonisba Anguissola s success and fame, the door had been opened for more women to
pursue a career in art, including Artemisia Gentileschi.
Artemisia Gentileschi
Thirty four years after Sofonisba Anguissola became court painter to Phillip II, Artemisia
Gentileschi was born in 1593. Unlike Anguissola, Artemisia Gentileschi was fortunate enough to
have a well established painter as a father. Orazio Gentileschi was a follower of on of the leading
Baroque painters Caravaggio, who s paintings utilized dramatic lighting and focused on the
narrative of his realistically plain characters. Orazio trained his daughter in Caravaggio s style
until he found that her talents surpassed his own. He then hired Agostino Tassi to take over her
training and to teach her perspective in 1611. However, Tassi raped Artemisia, falsely promising
to marry her afterward. Orazio sued Tassi for the rape of Artemisia and the theft of several
pictures. The trial lasted for five months, and Artemisia had to endure the thumb screw, a lie
detector test of the time. Tassi was found guilty and spent eight months in prison before being
released. Even though Tassi was found guilty, Artemisia was labeled as a licentious woman ever
since. It is speculated that this trial acted as inspiration for many of Artemisia s paintings, which
included subjects of heroic women.
Despite her tarnished reputation, Artemisia Gentileschi became one of the most

Dear Editor, Your article pertaining to the crimes against the older population was thorough and
well delivered. The elderly population is indeed becoming victimized on a larger scale than has
been seen in the past. This increase is a result of the growing number of seniors living in society
with little protection. Perhaps the most compelling part of your article was that of your question
Who is responsible for protecting these individuals? You pose quite a thought and emotion invoking
question and one which I could not help but share ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a family member is suspected of being the perpetrator of abuse, neglect, or exploitation they
should in fact not be involved in the seniors life but otherwise there should be a common sense
rule that we look out for our family members. Too often seniors refuse to report abuse, neglect, or
crime against them out of fear of losing independence. It is a common misconception that being
victimized will deem you unfit to live independently and will result in being placed in a facility of
some sort. It is important that seniors feel they can turn to those around them with concerns and
incidents that occur. In the event that a senior is not forthcoming with information there are a
number of avenues that may involve reporting of suspected incidents. Hospitals, doctors,
community service organizations, and long term care facilities can report suspected crimes to
authorities or Department of Social Services in an effort to protect the individual. If a senior
cannot properly protect themselves then health care professionals from all areas should have the
ability to act on behalf of the individual to seek help but not dictate the overall outcome as a
result. For example: simply finding that a person has been a victim of exploitation should not
mean that a person be moved immediately into a facility forfeiting their right to care for
themselves. All facilities acting to protect a senior should aim to preserve senior

Alternative Medicine Essay
Alternative Medicine: Try Something New
Today more then ever alternative medicine is becoming more accepted and widely used as regular
medicine. Alternative medicine is considered the use of any medicine out of the normal of what is
considered conventional. Alternative medicine was once considered the domain of snake oil
charlatans and gullible consumers (Waltman, et al 1). As the growing popularity of alternative
medicines has increased, so has the number of groups and organizations set up to discover more
about these medicines. One group that is set up to discover new findings in this field is the
National Center for Complementary and Alterative Medicine and was started by a congressional
mandate as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The way alternative medicines work is if a person can find a need for something there is usually a
cure or remedy out in the world.
With alternative medicine being more and more a part of everyday life, doctors are beginning to
use alternative as their main practice. Dr. Ken Bock says with the advent of managed care, the
average doctor visit is now seven minutes and people are turning to alternative practitioners to get
the care they need (Crone 2). This is helping because people are learning that they can find cures
and solutions to their ailments that they once thought incurable. As people learn to take health into
their own hands, however, they still need guidance from science. After all, herbal remedies are still
unregulated by the FDA, and little is known about their long term effects (Crone 2). For medical
doctors currently caring for patients with back problems, anxiety, depression or chronic pain, the
odds are greater than one in three that a patient is simultaneously using unconventional therapy for
these medical problems without disclosing this fact (Monroe 3). Sometimes the person doesn t
have to be healed to be affected by alternative medicine. Evidence shows that unorthodox medicine
does help people feel better, even when it does not really cure the infection or disease (Monroe 3).
One alternative advocate named Dossey states these concepts are going to cause an immense

Comparing Truth In Plato s Republic And Oedipus Rex
The Antithetical Presentations of Truth in Plato s Republic and Oedipus Rex
The process of coming to know the truth is a central theme in both Plato s Republic and Oedipus
Rex, yet the same idea is presented in two contrasting ways. Truth in Plato s Republic is
represented by light. However, in Oedipus Rex, the truth Oedipus comes to know is agonizing so he
blinds himself. These notions of truth being light and also causing darkness reveal the beauty,
importance and unchanging quality of Truth.
In the Republic, Plato describes the eye as the most sunlike of the organs of the sense. and uses the
idea of light as a representation of Truth. The troglodytes are first reluctant to see the light and are
frightened of the Truth; much like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Much like many other good and beautiful things, the Truth is sometimes painful to receive or to
strive for. This fact very clearly illustrated in Sophocles play Oedipus Rex. The play is built off
of many ironies for example, the man who solves the difficult riddle of the Sphynx is ignorant
of his own origins. More specifically, the Truth which is typically represented by light is
distressing enough that Oedipus blinds himself. Therefore leaving him with darkness instead of
light. The prophet Teiresias says Alas, how terrible wisdom is when it brings no profit to the
man who is wise! (Sophocles 316 317). An important distinction to make is that the truth which is
revealed to Oedipus is not painful because it is true. Rather, the choices Oedipus made having no
knowledge of this truth which make it painful. Teiresias is one of many characters who fears
telling Oedipus the truth and fear discovering it for themselves. Oedipus still desires the Truth
which is a very noble and honorable quality. However the truth that he discovers prompts Oedipus
to blind himself with Jocasta s jewelry. Dark eyes, now in the days to come (Oedipus Rex line
1274). Sophocles used this irony of the metaphorical light of truth encouraging a man to blind
himself, as a means of expressing the importance and unchanging quality of

because he wanted to be adored by strangers and seen as a kind, saintly man in a world that

Risks of PSA Testing Essay
PSA test results are interpreted as: 0 4 ng/mL is normal. Between 4 to 10 ng/ML is 25% of
developing cancer, and 10 ng/ml is a 50% risk of cancer. However, some men with normal PSA
levels still have prostate cancer, while other men with high PSA levels do not. PSA levels increase
with age often due to a higher prevalence of benign prostate hypertrophy (BPH). Therefore, no PSA
cutoff can accurately guarantee that a man does not have prostate cancer. PSA blood levels are used
for several different purposes such as to diagnose prostate cancer, evaluate treatment of prostate
cancer, and to evaluate the severity of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Currently there is no

In the case for PSA screening, PCa is the leading internal malignancy in US men and the second

The First Arduino Essay
The first Arduino was introduced in 2005, aiming to provide a low cost, easy way for novices and
professionals to create devices that interact with their environment using sensors and actuators.
Common examples of such devices intended for beginner hobbyists include simple robots,
thermostats, and motion detectors. Arduino boards are available commercially in preassembled
form, or as do it yourself kits. The hardware design specifications are openly available, allowing
the Arduino boards to be produced by anyone. Adafruit Industries estimated in mid 2011 that over
300,000 official Arduinos had been commercially produced, and in 2013 that 700,000 official
boards were in users hands. Hardware: An Arduino board consists of an Atmel 8 , 16 or 32 bit AVR
microcontroller (although since 2015 other makers microcontrollers have been used) with
complementary components that facilitate programming and incorporation into other circuits. An
important aspect of the Arduino is its standard connectors, which let users connect the CPU board
to a variety of interchangeable add on modules termed shields. Some shields communicate with the
Arduino board directly over various pins, but many shields are individually addressable via an IВІC
serial bus so many shields can be stacked and used in parallel. Before 2015, Official Arduinos had
used the Atmel mega AVR series of chips, specifically the ATmega8, ATmega168, ATmega328,
ATmega1280, and ATmega2560. In 2015, units by other producers were

  • 2. History Of The Insanity Plea The insanity plea has been around since 1843 when it was first used in London during the M Naghten case. The insanity plea made its first appearance in the United States in 1859 after Congressman Daniel Sickles murdered the man who his wife was having an affair with. However, a more recent and rather public use of the insanity plea is against James Eagan Holmes. James is being charged with murder and attempted murder after he maliciously attacked an Aurora Colorado movie theatre in 2012. James shot and killed 12 people and wounded 70 others. According to one source (2011, Black s Law, Bryan A. Garner) insanity is Any mental disorder sever enough that it prevents a person from having legal capacity and excuses the person from criminal or civil responsibility, insanity is a legal, not a medical, standard. Another source states In order for one person to be considered for the insanity plea, they must have a psychiatric evaluation and prove they were insane during the committing of the crime. (1965, Psychiatric Justice, Thomas S. Szasz, M.D) If someone pleads not guilty by reason of insanity, than they undergo mental rehabilitation. The length of time in the mental rehabilitation is determined by how long it takes the individual to be mentally prepared to re appear in court. After the individual is fit for re trial, the individual returns to court and will than plead guilty or not guilty. In most trials, the defendant serves a punishment that is not as severe as it was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Nt1310 Unit 3 Assignment 1 Network Design To meet the requirements given, the network was designed to be both scalable and secure. The networks required a specific number of hosts for the LAN each connection to the switches. For the EIGRP and OSPF companies, the devices used VLSM and were given /19, which provided many more addresses than the required 120 and 250. This addressing made sense, due to its scalability and because were seven devices on these networks. Had the network used a /24 an entire octet of addresses would have been wasted. For the RIP company, to account for its users a /24 was used because it allowed for 250 hosts and it could use vlsm and not waste addresses. A network professional must plan for current as well as future needs. This is discussed in Optical Network Design and Planning as it relates to wireless networks. A design issue in some wireless networks is the ability of a system to allow for a specified number of hosts to transmit information without completely changing the design of the current network (Vinod Kumar Verma, Surinder Singh, Nagendra P. Pathak, 2014).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Security is almost certainly the most difficult aspect of a network to perfect. It is important to have the correct procedures and components in place to make certain network security is being accounted for and addressed on any given network. The journal, Future Generation Computer Systems elaborates on this necessity for an information system. Future Generation Computer Systems , this component of a network is discussed thoroughly. Essentially securing an Information System (IS), involves identifying unique threats and challenges which need to be addressed by implementing the appropriate countermeasures (Dimitrios Zissis, Dimitrios Lekkas, 2012). This was achieved through configuring access lists as well as CHAP configuration on the routers connecting to the edge ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The issues that have been handled through this time frame that are addressed in this book is that how Chicago was known to be the black city at first, and how the city hoped that hosting the World s fair would increase their reputation. Secondly, the magic of a man named Daniel Burnhamthat did put the plans of the world fair in Chicagointo life and the obstacles that he had overcame. The thought of Chicago hosting the world s fair would be daunting at first, but it could turn around the reputation of Chicago from one of a city of gloom and darkness, to one of a city of light and progress from the Great Chicago fire of 1871, and that city would be fascinating for years to come. Chicago would get an economic shot in the arm from the revenue that it would get from hosting the 1893 World Fair and it would make Chicago into a great city of America. The event and also the transformation that would happen to the city of Chicago would not have happened if it would not be for one great man who had taken up the challenge to make sure to host this 1893 World fair. The Magic of Mister Daniel Burnham would be the tool that would be behind the greatest fair that Chicago has even seen in the history of its city. Daniel Burnham was forty three years old at the time he would receive news that Chicago would be the site of the fair, and he worked as an architect in Chicago. He was one of the best architects in Chicago because he and James Root were the first to design the towering building that would make cities build upwards, the skyscraper. That high achievement was would test Daniel Burnham and James Root even more so because of the fair that they were tasked to construct and build up eventually. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But if you were forced to pick the one that makes the most difference, you d pick leadership. (Warren Bennis, 1998) Leadership is today`s most contreversial and commented topic. Do we really know what leadership is all about? Today leadership is becomming a more and more a demanding task. John Kotter (2001), a leadership expert at the Harvard Business School, defines leadership as the ability to cope with change. If this is not adhered to, not only does the occurrence threaten the current activities of an organisation but it may also affect the general structure of a company. If we work with an example to define the crisis we can liken a crisis to a virus placed into a weakened body the effect on the body is inversely proportional to the power of constitution. Causation of a Crisis: Environmental change leaves an organization faced with the crisis situation out of step with the time and in accordance, ignorance and miscommunication situations, educational activities are insufficient and incorrect, inadequate, such as communication and coordination. College Essay On Social Anxiety Fitting In Social Anxiety is stopping me from success of achieving my dreams and goals in life; my weakness is shyness, lack of self confidence and fear of public speaking. Another words, it s difficult to admit, however, I am suffering from SAD (social anxiety disorder), otherwise known as phobia, which is the most common anxiety disorder. I m a shy and quite person by nature. Most of the time, don t feel comfortable expressing my opinion and thoughts. I m definitely not a leader type person (though sometimes I push myself to be one). Public speaking literately terrifies me. A panic attack kicks in, ones I start talking in front of large groups of people. College can be an intimidating environment for people like me who are going through social anxiety . A simple hi while seeing someone pass by, can be a little uncomfortable and awkward at times; yet, a simple hi can entirely change the communication behavior for the better, a much greater result every time saying hi , and taking one step at a time. Confidence doesn t necessarily come natural to shy people and can be challenging. Another challenge is talking to professors, whether it was in a classroom asking a question, or meeting my ... • 7. Violence Breeds Adulthood Throughout The World Violence Breeds Adulthood In the time as which my parents grew up the world was very different. They played outside at all hours of the night and they got into more trouble with each other and less with the law. Growing up I had always heard my dad s stories of wandering around the small town with his friends getting into fights and meeting girls. Somehow now day s things have changed but remain the same. For instance, we often act like boys fighting at a young age is just stupid or even childish but to a boythese fights are often almost something he will need to for the rest of his life it is almost as the fights begin to shape a boy physically and mentally. Fights prepare him for the physical struggles he may later face. If a man... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Men typically are greasy when they have low income or live near a ghetto or suburb often meaning they have learned the harsh reality of the streets such as bare knuckle brawling or drugs and drinking something. These boys have low experience with giving him the edge. Then, Boyle writes, I came at him like a kamikaze, mindless, raging... I came at him and brought the tire iron down across his ear (572) The boys were in a situation of oppressing odds. They tried their hardest to fight back but part of being a man is to adapt to new situations, the boy s primal instincts took over. Boyle uses the term kamikaze and mindless because to throw yourself at something without fear or worry of death is to become strong mentally in the fact that you may die or wind up in jail. The boy was forced to adapt to his situation and used a tire iron knowing his fist would be worthless adapting this and surviving as he feared for his life. The tire is most likely used in this story because tire irons represent change and replacing the old with the new for example the boy is losing his childhood and overcoming this to become a man. The boy learns the reality of violence and death. Boyle states, In one of those nasty little epiphanies for which we are prepared by films and TV and childhood visits to the funeral home to ponder the shrunken painted forms of dead grandparents (573). • 8. Taxing and E-Commerce Essay Taxing and E Commerce With the advent of the Internet, e commerce exploded, and in 2003, the estimated value of online sales was 95.7 billion dollars (epaynews). It also is estimated that 30% of online users buy online (epaynews). As e commerce and the revenues from e commerce increase, so do the questions and problems concerning taxes. Because of the global nature of the World Wide Web , and more than 30,000 tax jurisdictions in the United States (US), (Internet Taxation) it is easy to see the complications that exist in the taxation of e commerce. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some of the issues with this type of tax are whether it should be per use, per month or per year. Another issue involved with this tax is how it would be implemented and whether there would be extra fees related to the type of connection. For example, would the fee be changed based on a DSL vs. a regular modem connection? (Internet Taxation). The second type of tax involves intangible goods or downloads such as: emails, software, music etcetera. Obviously, this tax would involve all those that access this type of material. The administration of such a tax again poses a problem, for example, how should international emails be handled or an international user who download software from an American company web site. The final type of tax that could be levied is a sales tax. Although it would only affect those who purchase items on line, it would have potential to be an enormous source of revenue. Currently, the sales tax is the largest revenue source for federal, state and local governments. (Internet Taxation) In 2003, online retail was estimated at 68.4 (epaynews) billion dollars, all of which would be taxable and would increase the federal state and local tax revenues. Again, administration and division of revenue cause a problem, but there is also the problem of classification of the product. This is a problem because it is only subject to sales tax if it is classified as a good. As seen, there are many different types of Internet taxation to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Biological Psychology Biological Psychology Melissa Thompson University of Phoenix Biological Psychology When most hear the words biological/psychology, many tend to have trouble rapping their mind around it. Psychology is the study of behavior, so how does biology fit into this equation? Well we have to assume that our brainhas influence or somehow effects are behavior. In order to prove or disprove this theory, we have to research the biology and psychology of both the brain and our behavior. So how do we do this, well first we have to understand the brain and how it functions, as humans we have roughly 100 billion nerve cells in the brain. • 12. Restricting Communism with the Marshall Plan The source in question is an extract from the United States Secretary of State George C. Marshall s commencement speech for receiving an honorary degree from Harvard University; it was delivered on the 5th of June, 1947 at Harvard University. The speech was created primarily Charles Bohlen, a Soviet expert and Marshall s special assistant, and later revised by Marshall. Department officials, including George Kennan and William Clayton saw the Marshall Plan as a way of restricting Communist growth in Europe, by strengthening the struggling democratic European nations . After the end of WWII in 1945, the majority of Europe was in ruins; over a third of the European industry was destroyed by the war, resulting in weak economies, and millions of people unemployed and starving, causing low morale. As economies were not improving at a rapid enough pace, combined with high unemployment and a hungry population, people started to look for change. Communism began to look promising, and was becoming increasingly popular in Europe through rebels and partisans. In an attempt confine the spread of Communism, Marshall was sent to Moscow to negotiate with Stalin. Initially, Stalin welcomed the possibility of Soviet participation in a U.S funded European reconstruction program. However, Stalin opposed the idea of a coordinated multilateral aid programme, which was seen to threaten the Soviet political and economic position in Eastern Europe , and withdrew all support and insisted that ... In Ovid s the Metamorphoses, Pythagoras discusses a variety of beliefs including the four ages of man, autogenesis, and vegetarianism. The four stages of man as described by Pythagoras states, that the year displays four aspects, passing through them, in a semblance of our life. Each season represents a different aspect of man. Spring is a delicate time of year full of new beginnings and hope. Summer is described as powerful, rich, and expansive. Fall is the time between youth and age. This policy was created in an effort to offer a balance between freedom of expression and the press. The Right to be Forgotten offers citizens the ability to request for their information to be removed from the results of a Google search. The removal of these search results, or links, upon the request of an individual is referred to as delisting (Floridi et al., 2015). Google must also consider if the individual requesting to delist experiences harm from [public] accessibility to the information (Floridi et al., 2015, p. 6). Next, the policy addresses the way in which Google must assess each delisting request according to four key pieces of criteria: the data subject s role in public life, the nature of the information, the source, and time (Floridi et al., 2015). When evaluating the data subject s role in public life, Google considers three different types of citizens: individuals with a public personality (e.g. politicians), individuals with no public personality (i.e. average citizens), and those with a defined role in public life (e.g. school directors). Ultimately, the more involved a citizen is in the public sphere, the less likely they are to be delisted. Google also considers the nature of the information. • 24. Antigone By Sophocles Antigone In Sophocles, Antigone begins with the stages of grief as Antigone mourns the loss of her two brothers, Polyneikes and Eteokles, who die simultaneously in face to face combat in Thebes. Eteokles dies with honor fighting for the Thebesians and is honored with rituals and a proper burial. The body of Polyneikes, who attempted to burn the city of Thebes, is left for the dogs and birds to savage. Thesbesian s law forbids anyone giving a traitor, like Polyneikes, a proper burial, for that itself is a crime punishable by death. Antigone is angered that Polyneikes is not going to receive a proper burial and is determined that she must honor him even if it means the end of her life. Antigone alone attempts to bury her brother, but is captured and imprisoned, at which point she decides to form a noose around her neck and end her life. Sophoclesleaves the reader to question whether Antigone s suicide is an act of heroism, a stand for the citizens of Thebes, or a selfish way of coping with personal trauma. Antigone sought assistance in burying her brother from her only family member alive, her sister, Ismene, who tries to reason with her. Ismene proclaims, Remember, we re women. How can we fight men? They re stronger (Sophocles 749). The physical statures of neither Polyneikes nor Antigone were not ever mentioned, but in general men typically weigh more and have a larger build than women. • 25. Taking a Look at Coordinating Compounds Coordinating compounds, usually noted by their Indo Aryan name dvandva . Coordination complexes were notable since the start of chemistry. The definition and border of the class of coordinating compounds involves two issues: initially, what a compound is and how can we distinguish coordinative compounds from alternative multiword expressions; second, the understanding of what coordination is, and the way it s to be distinguished from alternative, non symmetrical relations (e.g. subordination). The major breakthrough occurred once Alfred Werner put forward in 1893 that Co(III) bears six ligands in an octahedral geometry. His theory permits one to grasp the distinction between coordinated and ionic in a compound, for instance chloride within the cobalt ammine chlorides and to clarify several of the earlier unexplainable isomers. In 1914, Werner resolved the first coordination complex, known as hexol, into optical isomers, overthrowing the idea that solely carbon compounds may possess chirality. Introduction Coordination compound is a compound formed from a Lewis acid and a BrГёnsted base , a Lewis acid being an electron pair acceptor and a BrГёnsted base a proton acceptor. Each text demonstrates that hope for change is needed in society as it can build the momentum for an individual to strive. Through these texts, it is observed that people have no conscience about harming others until they learn the truth about their circumstances. This is depicted by the way in which Jess coach Joe behaves after learning about her cultural expectations in Bend it like Beckham. Similarly, this is shown in Hidden Figures by Mr. Harrison. Both directors emphasise that the abuse of power leads to corruption and this can be seen through the segregation between the black and white people in Hidden Figures and the way in which cultural values overrule the lives of the Bhamra s in Bend it like Beckham. Both characters highlight the importance of creating opportunities rather than seeking it, this is shown when Mary Jackson goes to court for educational rights in Hidden Figures and in Bend it like Beckham when Jess stands up to her father who appears to be patriotic about his culture. Years later when they shift to become adults, they silently endure the guilt of another child s fate and their own inability to come to terms with what they have seen in that forest. In adult life neither marries, yet both dedicate themselves to helping children, which in a way is ironic and foreshadowing their future plans because of this one girl named Alys who became lost and never found. • 37. Juvenile Delinquency In The US Introduction It is believed that children are the products of their environment. With their brains often compared to sponges, children tend to mimic the language and the actions of those around them, and absorb those things into their memory. (Briggs, Grella, Allen Burton, Yarmuth, Taylor, 2012) There are many studies on the causes of juvenile delinquency, but there is much debate as to who and what is considered the primary factors of influence. This topic is important because juvenile delinquency continues to be a huge problem in the U.S; in 2012 alone, there was approximately 1,319,700 juvenile arrests (Puzzenchera, 2014). The primary group in this research are those adolescents who live inner cities and reside in low income based neighborhoods. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The inner city neighborhood itself is primarily the reason as to why both delinquency and dropping out occurs consecutively. According to the current study done by Seijeoung, Maaza, Zwanziger, and Henry (2014), children (unlike their high income counterparts) living low income based neighbors are more inclined to have a bad academic performance in school, may act on impulse and exhibit negative behavioral problems. Lower levels of school performance could be due to environmental factors such as home and the neighborhood as an added stress especially for impoverished neighborhoods (Seijeoung et al, 2014). Lower grades then gives youth a reason to drop out and give up. It is almost as though one thing enables another. In order to understand how outside factors such as the low income neighborhood can lead to delinquency and school delinquency, one needs to know the people, and activities that are involved with the ... The Bombing Of The Islamic Government Of Iran From the recent massacres happening in Iraq and Syria, we can gather that Washington has trampled on a path which has been seen as a way to redefine the war in Iraq, an effective scheme to bring the command of Assad to its crumbling demises and to recalibrate an inclusive plan to collapse the Islamic Government of Iran. Immediately coinciding with the withdrawal of US forces from Iraq, an organized string of deadly explosions gripped Iraq, leading to the massacre of dozens of civilians. Multiple bomb explosions happening simultaneously in Baghdad, claiming the lives of countless innocent civilians. Another series of explosions targeted Shia Muslims killing at least 71 people. Unlike Anguissola, Artemisia Gentileschi was fortunate enough to have a well established painter as a father. Orazio Gentileschi was a follower of on of the leading Baroque painters Caravaggio, who s paintings utilized dramatic lighting and focused on the narrative of his realistically plain characters. Orazio trained his daughter in Caravaggio s style until he found that her talents surpassed his own. He then hired Agostino Tassi to take over her training and to teach her perspective in 1611. However, Tassi raped Artemisia, falsely promising to marry her afterward. Orazio sued Tassi for the rape of Artemisia and the theft of several pictures. The trial lasted for five months, and Artemisia had to endure the thumb screw, a lie detector test of the time. Tassi was found guilty and spent eight months in prison before being released. Even though Tassi was found guilty, Artemisia was labeled as a licentious woman ever since. If a family member is suspected of being the perpetrator of abuse, neglect, or exploitation they should in fact not be involved in the seniors life but otherwise there should be a common sense rule that we look out for our family members. Too often seniors refuse to report abuse, neglect, or crime against them out of fear of losing independence. It is a common misconception that being victimized will deem you unfit to live independently and will result in being placed in a facility of some sort. It is important that seniors feel they can turn to those around them with concerns and incidents that occur. In the event that a senior is not forthcoming with information there are a number of avenues that may involve reporting of suspected incidents. Hospitals, doctors, community service organizations, and long term care facilities can report suspected crimes to authorities or Department of Social Services in an effort to protect the individual. If a senior cannot properly protect themselves then health care professionals from all areas should have the ability to act on behalf of the individual to seek help but not dictate the overall outcome as a result. For example: simply finding that a person has been a victim of exploitation should not mean that a person be moved immediately into a facility forfeiting their right to care for themselves. With alternative medicine being more and more a part of everyday life, doctors are beginning to use alternative as their main practice. Dr. Ken Bock says with the advent of managed care, the average doctor visit is now seven minutes and people are turning to alternative practitioners to get the care they need (Crone 2). This is helping because people are learning that they can find cures and solutions to their ailments that they once thought incurable. As people learn to take health into their own hands, however, they still need guidance from science. After all, herbal remedies are still unregulated by the FDA, and little is known about their long term effects (Crone 2). For medical doctors currently caring for patients with back problems, anxiety, depression or chronic pain, the odds are greater than one in three that a patient is simultaneously using unconventional therapy for these medical problems without disclosing this fact (Monroe 3). Sometimes the person doesn t have to be healed to be affected by alternative medicine. Evidence shows that unorthodox medicine does help people feel better, even when it does not really cure the infection or disease (Monroe 3). The play is built off of many ironies for example, the man who solves the difficult riddle of the Sphynx is ignorant of his own origins. More specifically, the Truth which is typically represented by light is distressing enough that Oedipus blinds himself. Therefore leaving him with darkness instead of light. The prophet Teiresias says Alas, how terrible wisdom is when it brings no profit to the man who is wise! (Sophocles 316 317). An important distinction to make is that the truth which is revealed to Oedipus is not painful because it is true. Rather, the choices Oedipus made having no knowledge of this truth which make it painful. Teiresias is one of many characters who fears telling Oedipus the truth and fear discovering it for themselves. Oedipus still desires the Truth which is a very noble and honorable quality. • 51. The First Arduino Essay The first Arduino was introduced in 2005, aiming to provide a low cost, easy way for novices and professionals to create devices that interact with their environment using sensors and actuators. Common examples of such devices intended for beginner hobbyists include simple robots, thermostats, and motion detectors. Arduino boards are available commercially in preassembled form, or as do it yourself kits. The hardware design specifications are openly available, allowing the Arduino boards to be produced by anyone. Adafruit Industries estimated in mid 2011 that over 300,000 official Arduinos had been commercially produced, and in 2013 that 700,000 official boards were in users hands. Hardware: An Arduino board consists of an Atmel 8 , 16 or 32 bit AVR microcontroller (although since 2015 other makers microcontrollers have been used) with complementary components that facilitate programming and incorporation into other circuits. An important aspect of the Arduino is its standard connectors, which let users connect the CPU board to a variety of interchangeable add on modules termed shields. Some shields communicate with the Arduino board directly over various pins, but many shields are individually addressable via an IВІC serial bus so many shields can be stacked and used in parallel. Before 2015, Official Arduinos had used the Atmel mega AVR series of chips, specifically the ATmega8, ATmega168, ATmega328, ATmega1280, and ATmega2560. In 2015, units by other producers were ...
