The discovery of North America sparked a new era of exploration, expansion, and colonization. Many
European countries took the opportunity to develop a new territory where they could prosper
financially and benefit their home country as much as possible. The trip overseas was strenuous, as
was maintaining positive relationships with Native Americans and running a successful colony.
Although all European countries who showed interest in establishing territories in the Americas had
their own reasons for doing so, some countries did a better job executing their colonizing than others.
Britain, France, and Spain were the three most successful countries in terms of colonizing a new land
for their country.
The Spanish were amongst the best explorers at the time, establishing settlements in Hispaniola and
Mexico. They were looking for wealth, power, and to expand their territory. An explorer named
Hernan Cortes invaded the massive Native empire of the Aztecs, which was far richer and larger than
any town in Spain. When invited into the city, Cortes sought to conquer, enslave and steal from the
wealthy city. By forming many alliances with Native tribes who hated the Aztecs, the Spanish
overtook the city, showing no mercy towards their enemies. They enslaved those they didn t kill, and
disassembled some of the former Aztec pyramids into Christian Cathedrals. Cortes was eventually

A) The Bandura study aimed to see if children copying aggression that they see in adults. In the study
a male or female model was aggressive toward a bobo doll, the children were then observed to see if
they imitated any behaviour shown by the model, or if they were/weren t aggressive. There were also
2 control groups, one of which had seen a non aggressive male/female model and another group was
observed after seeing no model.
The results showed that the children were more aggressive when they had seen the aggressive model.
Boys were, on average, more aggressive than girls. The gender of the model also had an affect on the

that child as being more aggressive and so affecting the results. There was also a big cultural change
in the years following Banduras study. When this study took place there were very stereotypical views
of men and women, this means that the children may have been reluctant to copy the behaviour of the
aggressive female model, but were more likely to copy the behaviour of the aggressive male model,
because society at the time expected more aggression from men. Girls may also have been less
aggressive at that time because it was what was expected from society and vice versa with the boys.

increasingly growing number of Japanese immigrants in the West Coast. Subsequent regulations
placed on the Japanese in the United States made them aggravated. There was serious trouble brewing
between the United States and Japan until the Japanese carried out attacks on Pearl Harbour in
December 1941. After the attack on Pearl Harbor there was increased spread of propaganda from the
press and local leaders against the people with Japanese roots. There were numerous calls to the
Congress and President Roosevelt for removal of the Japanese from the Pacific Coast. On the 19th day
of February 1942, President Roosevelt issued the Executive Order Number 9066 (Wheeler, Becker
and Glover 244). The Executive Order authorized the evacuation of the Issei and Missei. About
120000 individuals of Japanese ancestry, both citizens and non citizens were evacuated from the West
Coast in what Lt. General John DeWitt said was compelled by military necessity (Wheeler, Becker

psychology and reading, but due to his father being a very strict Hasidic Jewish Rabi, he did not allow
Danny the luxury to study books other than the Talmud. But to study Torah is not such a simple thing.
Torah is a task for all day and all night. (132). As a result, Danny often snuck to a place in the library
to read and study other things. He could not get enough and even began questioning whether or not he
wanted to be a rabbi as expected. His father was counting on him to take his place, and if he did not it

Abstract: A Funnel Shape antenna for use in an ultra wideband UWB media is proposed. The proposed
antenna consists of Funnel antenna with monopole bridge antenna and partial ground plane. The
Funnel antenna with monopole bridge antenna are etched on the same sides of the antenna substrate, a
dielectric layer of FR4 microfiber. The overall dimension of the proposed antenna is 50 mm × 50 mm
× 1.6 mm. The antenna operates in the frequency range from 2 20 GHz covering UWB band.
Moreover, the proposed antenna provides good radiation patterns across the whole working bands and
a relatively good gain over the entire frequency band.

(ADSD) is a voice disorder due to central motor processing abnormalities which result in decreased
control of the laryngeal muscles (Blitzer, 2010). The idiopathic disorder is characterized by
involuntary spasms of the laryngeal muscles controlling vocal fold adduction (National Spasmodic
Dysphonia Association, 2012). The dysphonic characteristics presented by patients with ADSD are
described as strained, strangled, and effortful due to irregular adductions of the vocal folds and the
occlusion of air through the vocal tract during phonation(Blitzer,2010; Cannito, Doiuchi, Murry
Woodson, 2012). Patients with muscle tension dysphonia (MTD) present with similar perceptual vocal
characteristics however, treatment for the two disorders is quite different. Speech language
pathologists often have difficulty diagnosing and distinguishing between ADSD, a neurological
disorder, and MTD, a functional voice disorder (Rees et al., 2007). Correct diagnosis is important and
objective measures, such as spectral analysis, are more sufficient in distinguishing the two
disorders(Rees et al., 2007). ADSD has a neurologic etiology but the exact cause is still unknown (Lee

The democratic peace theory was not always seen as the substantial argument and significant
contribution to the field of International Relations that it is today. Prior to the 1970 s, it was the realist
and non realist thought that took preeminence in political theoretical thinking. Though the democratic

There are also different levels of analysis when it comes to the democratic peace theory. On one hand
the there is a dyadic which refers to democratic states have good and peaceful relations with other
democratic states while the opposite is true of their relations with non democratic states. Secondly
there is a monadic way of analyzing the democratic peace theory. In this case, democracies are
peaceful states overall and will only go into conflict with democratic or undemocratic states when
threatened or under attack.
Immanuel Kant s work is often said to be the starting point of the democratic peace theory. In his
essays, he proposes his peace plan by listing out six preliminary articles which he argued were steps
that had to be taken immediately. He also listed three definitive articles which included that the civil
constitution of every state should be republican, that the law of nations shall be founded on a
federation of free states and lastly that the law of world citizenship shall be limited to conditions of
universal hospitality, upon these, the foundation of peace could be built. Although Immanuel Kant
never mentioned democracy per say, his ideas were very similar to ideas that pertain to democracy. He
referred to republican states which were to be representative governments and where there was a
separation of powers.
