What Are The Similarities Between Inanna Queen Of Heaven...
When comparing the film with different texts that we have read, Death was served as a gateway to the
other realms. For example, in Inanna: Queen of Heaven and Earth , Inanna goes to the underworld to
visit her sister, Queen Ereshkigal. The Queen who despises Inanna has her servants torture her as she
goes through each layer. After going through a series of gates in the underworld, she was stripped off
each part of her clothes one by one and was later chained and tortured in hell from the evil creatures
that dwell underneath in the mountain. In each gate, not only were different punishments carried out
but Inanna was walking through darkness and seeing less of the light. When relating to the film, the
other world has a stairway that shows

Analysis Of Street Art Of Israel And Palestine
Before the study of street art in Israel and Palestine can begin, first, one must understand why these
artworks are there a basic principle in any art theory. For instance, taking Picasso s Guernica (see fig.
1.1) as an example, it appears at first glance to be a disturbing painting, very abstract in style and
chaotic in its composition. The appeal of abstract art is that it is less superficially explicit. I would
argue that this conveys deeper meaning to the viewer because of the personal journey required to
untangle what it is that he is seeing. When one learns that Picasso painted Guernica in response to the
bombing of his hometown, the namesake of the work, an element of the celestial emerges, and Picasso
s ability to express this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, physically denying access to an area that was previously shared is fraught with flaws. If
a barrier is erected, consideration to the other party must be demonstrated otherwise expect retaliation
and accusations that it is a form of arbitrary detention on a large scale.
Therefore, it is widely recognised that the partition should stand upon, or be situated inside, the de
facto border: The Pre 1967 Armistice Line (see fig. 1.2), alternatively known as The Green Line
(hereby referred to as GL) so named as green ink was used to geographically mark the factions
territories with respect to their military distribution before the 1967 war. This act situated 78% of
Mandatory Palestine as Israel and was carried out on the arrangement that:
No provision of this Agreement shall in any way prejudice the rights, claims, and positions of either
Party hereto in the ultimate peaceful settlement of the Palestine question... being dictated exclusively
by military, and not by political, considerations.
In spite of the obvious pitfalls which arise from augmenting the separation barrier away from the GL s
original purpose as an armistice line, it has become recognised by international officials inclusive of
Arab states and the Palestinian diaspora, e.g. The Palestinian Liberation Organisation as the Israeli
boundary, despite it never formally declared as

Out Of All The Assassin s Creed
If Skyrim and The Witcher 3 had a baby, Ubisoft s Assassin s Creed: Origins would be it, and dare I
predict, Origins is bound to achieve same legacy as those two legends. Knowing that, Origins has
significantly strayed away from its Assassin s Creed roots; it does not play like an Assassin s Creed
game at all. Instead, Origins has taken a more open world, do anything you want approach, which I
think is perfect for the game s breathtaking Ancient Egyptian setting. From exploring vast deserts to
robbing visiting little mudbrick houses, Origins offers so many activities that it is impossible to go
through it all in one playthrough. Ride a horse (or camel!) through Alexandrian streets, climb the
pyramids, or raid some tombs for valuable treasure Origins is a game that has something for everyone.

Bayek is a three dimensional and lifelike character with whom the player can easily sympathize with.
Out of all the Assassin s Creed protagonists, Bayek is arguably the most human of them all and this is
coming from a die hard Ezio fan. He is not afraid to show grief, exert anger, and even laugh (ahem,
Altaïr). In other words, Bayek is not a cool mysterious stoic wannabee; he is a living, breathing

The Recreation Of Virtual Reality
Some people identify the recreation of virtual reality in rudimentary Victorian stereoscopes, the first
3d video viewers. Others point to a sort of out of body experience. But to most people, VR was
created by a handful of developers in the 1950s and 1960s. In 1962 filmmaker Mort Heilig patented
the first VR system: the Sensorama, an arcade style room with a 3D display and vibrating seat. Heilig
imagined it as the first in a line of products for the cinema of the future, unfortunately that future
failed to arrive in his lifetime. In 1965, Ivan Sutherland already known as the creator of revolutionary
computer interface Sketchpad accepted of what he named The Ultimate Display, Which was a room

While a head mounted it had to be put on the ceiling because it was just too heavy to wear. The
display was all wire frames, but they were 3D models, and the person could change your position and
see different views thanks to a tracking system built on the head mount. In the 1950s and 1960s,
Myron Krueger and Ivan Sutherland built a model train like environment, with all the tiny buildings
and aircraft, and flew a little camera across the surface to create an image that could be fed into the
cockpit and looked like an out the window scene. And then it actually changed to computer based
imagery using Evans and Sutherland s devices. Ivan Sutherland was involved in making some of the
fast hardware that would make it possible to do the perspective transformations quickly enough so you
could have some degree of manipulation in the games. Skip a couple years ahead to the 1990s and
2000 a number of different head mounted displays (HMDs) were released to little fanfare by
consumers. I O Display Systems had its named i Glasses, VictorMaxx had a number of HMDs with
names like Stuntmaster and CyberMaxx, and Forte Technologies had its VFX line. By and large, these
HMDs were failures. The underlying tech just wasn t good enough yet, and the massive price tags
prevented any bit of traction from forming. Along these headsets, the resolution and overall
performance usually sucked, but the worst part was how half hearted so many devises were. Some

Articles Of Confederation
The Articles of Confederation was the formal charter of the government of the United States that was
the first binding document outlining its independence from Great Britain. As tensions grew between
the United States and Great Britain, a war was inevitable with the people of America growing tired of
the British rule and wanting independence, the Revolutionary War was the next step in trying to free
itself from British tyranny. The Articles of Confederation was fully ratified in 1781 after the
Revolutionary War and seemed to be more interested in stability rather than liberty. The Articles of
Confederation was the first document outlining a national government that wrote into law the

Aviation Provides The Sole Worldwide Transportation...
Aviation provides the sole worldwide transportation network that makes it essential for international
business and tourism. It plays a significant role in facilitating economic growth, notably in developing
countries. Flying transports close to two billion travelers per annum and four hundredth of
interregional fares of merchandise (by worth), four hundredth of international tourists currently travel
by air. The air transportation industry generates a total of twenty nine million jobs globally (through
direct, indirect, induced and catalytic impacts). Aviation s international economic impact (direct,
indirect, induced and catalytic) is calculable at US$ 2,960 billion, comparable to 8 may 1945 of world
Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
Aviation boasts high occupancy rates of sixty five to seventieth that is more than double those of road
and rail transportation. Air transportation entirely covers its infrastructure prices. In contrast to road
and rail, it is a net contributor to national treasuries through taxation. Modern craft achieve fuel
efficiencies of three.5 liters per one hundred passenger km or sixty seven passenger miles per US
gallon. The next generation craft (A380 amp; B787) are targeting a potency of less than three liters per
one hundred passenger km or seventy eight passenger miles per US gallon5, which exceeds the
efficiency of any modern automobile on the market.
The air transportation industry includes those activities that are directly captivated with

African American Family In The 1970 s
Once again, in the 1970s, changes in the structure and dynamics of the American family are present in
the popular 1970s TV show The Brady Bunch . Perhaps the biggest change that is present is the
structure of the family portrayed. The Brady s, the TV shows main subject, would be considered a
blended family. Mike Brady, the father in the show, has three sons from a previous relationship; he
marries Carol, who has three daughters from a previous relationship, there marriage brings both
families together. I would classify the family as an upper middle class family, based on the appearance
of their house and the presence of a full time maid at their house. Similar to TV shows from previous
decades the children appear to be submissive to the authority ... Show more content on

The family that is depicted in this TV show is the Huxtable family, this is a African American family
with a nuclear family structure, as it contains a married couple living with their five children. This is
the first TV show that we watched that s main subject is an African American family. In the previous
TV shows viewed there was a lack of any type of African American population in them. Based on the
careers of the parents, one being a doctor and the other being a lawyer, I can assume that this is an
upper middle class family. For the first time, in this show we see the children being a bit rebellious,
and less submissive to the authority of their parents. It appears that both parents share equal authority,
and an argument can be made that the mother is more authoritative then the father in this show, as the
father seems to take more of a relaxed comical approach to confrontations with his children. This
show does correlate with the real culture of the decade, as for the first time African American s are
able to hold high level jobs such as the ones that both parents in this show have. However, this show
may possess a false narrative, as through studying this period in time there is still obvious racial
barriers that are being put against the African American race. The Cosby Show provides the first look
of a African American family and also portrays some things that are happening for the first time in U.S
history in regards to the

How Is 1984 Still Relevant Today
Today s society is full of hypocritical beings whose belief it is that there is a certain way to act and all
must follow it. Indeed this idea goes back all throughout history, existing from biblical times, to those
of the French Revolution, continuing on with Stalin s Soviet Union, and still existing today in our
society. These norms define what actions and reactions are appropriate for any situation, as well as
providing a basis on which different classes can properly live their lives. However, sometimes these
norms contain questionable content that, when viewed, is found to be harmful to their way of live,
destructive of their culture, and detrimental to their freedom and rights to the pursuit of happiness. It is
in these moments that it is prudent that people stand up against the restrictive norms and fight for their
rights. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

to enforce control. This knowledge prompts Smith to rebel against Big Brother in order to gain the

The Bolsheviks
Lawyers would say that Europe, Asia, and the United States of America are completely different.
However, from the point of view of the citizens, the similarities in their daily lives are numerous, even
if some fundamental differences remain. To begin with the most obvious similarity and example: in
the USA, as well as in parts of Europe, citizens use a single currency, identical to the currency of their
neighboring States. Just as in Europe, in the USA, several decisions remain the responsibility of the
states, such as highway code, certain taxes, social welfare, minimum wages, and certain areas of
justice. At the political level, some plea for further independence of the States in relation to the federal
government, while others are bidding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It should not be unforeseen that the Bolsheviks worked hard to safeguard that any person potentially
antagonistic to them did not retain arms. The first Soviet gun controls were enacted during the Russian
Civil War, as Czarists, Western troops, and national independence movements fought the central Red
regime. Firearm registration was instituted on April 1, 1918. In October 1918, the Council of People s
Commissars (the government) ordered the renunciation of all firearms, ammunition, and sabers. As
has been the case in nearly every nation where firearms registration has been introduced, registration
proved a preamble to confiscation. Excused from the confiscation order, however, were affiliates of
the Communist Party. A 1920 decree imposed a obligatory minimum penalty of six months in prison
for non Communist possession of a firearm, even where there was no felonious intent. After the Red
triumph in the Civil War, the firearm laws were consolidated in a Criminal Code, which if broken,
unauthorized possession of a firearm would be punishable by rigid labor. A 1925 law made
unauthorized possession of a firearm punishable by three months of hard labor, plus a fine of 300
rubles (equal to about four months wages for a highly paid construction worker). Stalin apparently
found little need to alternate the weapons control structure he had inherited. This chapter of Lethal
Laws summarizes the genocide perpetrated by Stalin from 1929 to 1953, starting with his efforts to
collectivize farming by destroying the class of property owning farmers. Altogether, about twenty
million people were murdered, worked to death in slave labor camps, or deliberately starved to death
by Stalin s government. Stalin s successful campaign of genocide against the Kulaks and against
dissident Communists served as a model for

Essay about Elimination of Poverty in the Welfare State
Elimination of Poverty in the Welfare State
The welfare State is a system in which the state takes responsibility for the health and welfare of its
citizens/subjects. The state uses benefits, free healthcare, free education and provide adequate living
conditions to ensure that people s health and well being is looked after. One of the aims of the welfare
state is to eliminate poverty, poverty can come in many different forms some worse then others.
Absolute poverty is when someone s income doesn t cover the minimum provisions needed to
maintain health; these people are below the poverty line. Relative poverty are those people that cannot

The welfare state was first started by the Liberal government between 1906 1919. They started to
introduce new services under social security, health, education, housing, employment and the
treatment of offenders. Rowntree did research into poverty and this influenced the Liberal government
to take responsibility to try to reduce poverty. In 1906 free school meals were introduced, in 1909 old
age pensions were given to those who could no longer work. The most important thing the Liberals
introduced was National Insurance in 1911. These changes mainly helped the old and disabled as it
prevented these groups from going into poverty. However it didn t help those who were unemployed
or already in poverty as they could pay into the National Insurance scheme.
In 1940 50, after winning the Second World War the people of Britain never wanted to return to pre
war conditions. There had been 20 years of mass unemployment and no help was given to those in
poverty. The measures introduced by the Liberal government were not proving successful. The
environments and housing people had to live in were of poor condition and helped spread disease.
The Labour government decided that no one should be allowed to live in poverty and the Welfare state
should be for everybody. To get rid of disease everyone was to have proper healthcare so the National
Health Service was

Sensor Technology Applied to Martial Arts
 SOCIAL AND ETHICAL CONSIDERATION:
The system relates to the type of protective clothing worn by the players in sports like in martial arts,
taekwondo and kick boxing. Technology is becoming is very common in sports to highlight the unfair
decisions made by the referees during a game, it s a very complicated procedure to link technology
with the sports, however introducing sensors like (proximity, motion sensor, impact sensors) in sports
create a vast difference in the decision making of referees on field and also put fairness in the game
and enjoyment for the audience coming into see the game. The invention of impact measurement and
sensor technology uses the Piezo electric film sensors on the protective clothing worn by the players
to help the referees to make accurate decision of scoring in a game. The recently introduced judgment
making technologies has however, surged the accountability of the referee and judges to ensure the
precision of scoring, as scores now come spontaneously from two sources (1) the electronic scoring
system, (2) the judges via hand held electronic controllers. While the technology does mention about
the points that may not have been seen via the open eyes due to the surged speed of the game and
upturned complexity of practices, quite a lot of the interviewees expressed fear of points being scored
through the closing of circuitry rather than power and/or technique. Some indicated to this with
expressions such as soft points .

Dichotomy In Lysistrata
The ancient Greeks had very clear ideas about many things in life. In particular, this clarity can be
exemplified as a binary system of worldview by looking at things in black and white perspectives to
avoid ambiguity. A person is either free or a slave, a native Greek or a foreigner, rich or poor, royalty
or not, and in the case of gender, either a man or a woman. This kind of dichotomy was a good way to
impose social order and maintain harmony in Greek society because their social hierarchy was quite
rigid. However, from the early myth of Hesiod s Theogony where misogyny is quite obvious, ancient
Greek literature soon takes a more enlightened view of female roles in Greek society as their
civilization develops further. This change can gradually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Iron Metal Of Steel
Introduction
Stainless Steel is a generic term for a large family of corrosion resistant alloys from iron (FE), are
containing carbon (C) and chromium and may contain other alloying elements to get different
properties of steel like Nickels, Molybdenum, Titanium and Manganese.
Steel metal is the most common and most widely used in major construction industries because it s
can be malleability to sheets, beams and bars, and also its very god to transfer the heat, electric and
liable to Magnetization.
There are no limited period on the discovery of steel, but the period since 300 BC _ 200 BC is a

Stainless steels can be divided into five categories:
1. Martensitic Stainless Steels:
These alloys have a chromium content that ranges from 11.50 to 18.00%. They have relatively high
carbon content from 0.15 to 1.20% compared to other stainless steels and molybdenum can also be
used. These grades can be hardened through heat treatment to offer strength and hardness. They are
magnetic. The common uses are knife blades, surgical instruments, shafts.
2. Ferritic Stainless Steel:
Alloys In ferritic grades, carbon is kept to low levels (C 0.08%) and the chromium content can range
from10.50 to 30.00%. only chromium is present as the main metallic alloying element. Common uses
are automotive exhaust systems (11.00%Cr), automotive trim (17.00%Cr 1.50%Mo), hot water tanks
(18.00%Cr 2.00%Mo Ti).
3. Austenitic Stainless Steels:
Alloys In austenitic grades, carbon is usually kept to low levels (C 0.08%). Chromium content ranges
from 16.00 to 28.00% and nickel content ranges from 3.50 to 32.00%. This chemical composition
allows them to maintain an austenitic structure from cryogenic temperatures up to the melting point of
the alloy. These alloys cannot be hardened through heat treatment. The key properties of these types of

Tom Clancy s Influence On American Literature
Throughout the years, many authors have contributed to American literature by writing meaningful
poems and novels about their past. However, one of these great authors rose up through his military
and espionage styled novels, changing and refining those genres forever; that author s name is Tom
Clancy. According to Italie, since childhood, young Tom Clancy has always been interested in the
military and its history (Italie). He became a famous author that influenced many writers that writes

The Importance Of Government Regulations
Government regulation is important to society. A protection to both society and the citizens, criminal
law allows for government intervention on the daily issues of the country
(Saunders and Bromwich, 2016, p. 15). Regulations purposes listed here are just a few:
Protecting the environment, regulating the marketplace, and regulating individuals (Saunders and
Bromwich, 2016, p. 16 25). The government is concerned with the amount of damage caused by
human beings to earth. Water supplies are being damaged through agricultural by products, industries
are spewing chemicals in the air, water, and ground, and the disposal of waste in our lands and water
(Saunders and Bromwich, 2016, p. 16). The government regulates the destruction of earth by creating
ways to incentivize and protect the environment (Saunders and
Bromwich, 2016, p. 16).
In the marketplace, rich businesses cause white collar crimes. Fraud, scams, or misleading
advertisements are regulated by the government through criminal law (Saunders and
Bromwich, 2016, p. 20 21). Furthermore, the government is obligated to regulate the individuals
within society (Saunders and Bromwich, 2016, p. 23 25). Crime happens because of human greed and
corruption, and the government needs to set down rules to prevent and protect the law abiding
citizens. There will be three types of government regulations that will be addressed. The first method
of government regulation is taxes (Saunders and Bromwich, 2016, p. 27). By

Benefit Of The International Space Station
Benefits of the International Space Station to Earth Space is a place where no ground can be felt,
sound can t be heard, and every direction is endless darkness. There are people who spend their lives
studying space and how it differs from Earth. With the help of experts from 15 nations, The
International Space Station (ISS) has been built. The space station travels in our orbit at 17,500 miles
per hour and orbits the earth every ninety minutes. The ISS gives scientists a better understanding of
how life works in zero gravity.
The space station was not always there. It took about thirteen years to complete, and it all started in
1984. On January 25, 1984, President Ronald Reagan s State of the Union Address directed the
National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to build an international space station within
the next 10 years. (History and Timeline). That was the first time anyone had ever heard of a space
station and they had no idea what it could be used for. In November of 1998, Russia launched the
Russian Zarya control module into orbit which the first piece of the ISS. (History and Timeline)

UN CONVENTION ON THE RIGHTS OF THE CHILD
The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child was brought into effect to recognise that Children
needed their own set of specific human rights that should be protected and that these were a universal
right not a privilege. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child was drawn up and accepted by
the UN in 1989. The UK government agreed to abide by the principles in 1991 and it was fully
implemented in 1992. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child is the most universally
recognised set of standards for protecting the rights of children and numerous countries have agreed to
abide by it. The Convention forms a set of articles that highlight the minimum entitlements of all
children. These ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Children understand how to protect themselves, and feel protected and are protected from significant
harm including neglect, abuse and accident. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child essentially
underpins all aspects of the work we do and how we undertake it and the responsibilities we have to
the individual. It is therefore a major and key piece of legislation that we must be familiar with to
fulfill the job role and responsibilities as manager of a home.
HUMAN RIGHTS ACT 1998
The Human Rights Act was drawn up by the UK government and implemented in 1998. It draws on
the European Convention of Human Rights but allows for issues to be addressed within the UK courts
of Law rather than needing a European Court. The Act provides that it is unlawful for a public
authority to act in such a way as to contravene Convention rights. For these purposes public authority
includes any other person whose functions are functions of a public nature. The Human Rights Act
uses a set of articles to detail the rights of everyone within the UK. Examples of these articles include:
the right to life; prohibition of torture; prohibition of slavery and forced labour; right to liberty and
security; right to respect for family and private life; freedom of thought conscience and religion;
freedom of expression; prohibition of discrimination; protection of property; and

Argumentative Essay On Declining Fish
Over fishing our waters is causing a great deal of concern amongst environmentalist and commercial
fishermen. According to the Declining Fish Stock video, the average commercial fishermen s catch is
about 20,000 pounds. This has been estimated to equal a couple hundred fish per day per vessel
(Declining Fish, 2007). Some studies indicate that commercial fishing fleets have stripped the ocean
waters of at least 90 percent of its big fish (Declining Fish, 2007). This has begun to cause heavy
competition between commercial fishermen who are left competing for the other 10 percent of the
remaining fish population (Declining Fish, 2007).
Studies indicate that our oceans are not as resilient as we had once believed (Declining Fish, 2007).
According to Dr. Jeremy Jackson of the Scripps Institute of Oceanography, we will never again be
able to fish our waters at the level that we have been over the last half century (Declining Fish, 2007).
Dr. Jackson also states that over fishing is more destructive to the ocean waters than toxic pollution or
degrading water quality (Declining Fish, 2007). This is a frightening thought and seems to have
environmentalists and commercial fishermen at each other s throats.
When asked if the damage to the fish population is at a level of completion, Dr. Jackson said that the
damage was near completion but that the damage could be reversed if we take much needed drastic
measures to ensure that these fish have a chance to repopulate (Declining Fish,

Essay on Third World Development
Within the last 60 years, Third World development has been a global priority, at the top of virtually
every Western agenda. And with the rise of the global population and poverty levels continuing to rise
along with it, it is very easy to see why human development is becoming such a topic of focus and
discussion among members of the academia. But one question that everyone wants the answer too is,
how does Third World development fit into Globalization? Despite apparent compatibility, when
closely examined it is clear to see that Globalization actually contradicts Third World development
due to the conflict of agendas. Both Globalization and Development hold views concerning market
reform, social structure and regulation, which are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lifeblood of these regimes is the dissatisfied citizens, the unimpressed masses who desire
revolution and freedom from poverty, which is propogated to have risen out of Capitalist involvement
in the Americas. Capitalist economies, on the other hand, believe that it has nothing to do with their
involvement and instead sees these stages of development as natural, something that every economy
will go through, if they have not already. Despite the appeal, it is untrue to say that every developed
nation has gone through stages of development that todays underdeveloped nations are going through.
As Andre Gunder Frank puts it the now developed countries were never underdeveloped, though they
may have been undeveloped (104). This goes to show that the playing field was not even for all, and
that today s developing nations had a headstart in developing. Underdevelopment can also be, and has
been, understood as a reflection or product of the economic, social, political and cultural
characteristics of said country. Yet with a look at history we see that the underdevelopment of a
satellite nation can be traced directly back to the past and current economic relations the nation has
held with developed metropoles . This relationship between a metropolitan and satellite countries
pertains back to the process and development of the world capitalist system, which benefits its

Characterizing Amylin and Salmon Calcitonin Receptors in...
Background Amylin and Salmon Calcitonin belong to the calcitonin family of peptides and have high
affinity binding sites in the rat spinal cord. The aim of this study was to functionally characterize
receptors for Amylin and Salmon Calcitonin in the spinal cord of rats. We assessed the expression of c
fos in response to intraplantar formalin in the lumbar regions of spinal cord in conscious rats.
Methods:
Amylin (0.05nmoles) or Salmon Calcitonin (0.005nmoles) were administrated intrathecally) 10 min
before the start of formalin test. Antagonists were injected intrathecally 10min before the
administration of either of the peptides.
Results:
Two hours after formalin stimulation, rats pretreated intrathecally by either Amylin or Salmon
Calcitonin showed lower numbers of c Fos immunoreactive nuclei in their lumbar spinal cord as
compared to rats pretreated by saline. These effects were reversed upon co administration of either of
the Amylin antagonists AC187 or rat amylin8 37, but not rat α CGRP8 37. Few cells with c Fos
immunreactivity were found in the lumbar spinal cord of rats two hours after i.t. injection of saline,
Amylin and/or Salmon Calcitonin. However, Fos like immunoreactivity was increased in the lumbar
spinal cord two hours after i.t. treatment of either of the antagonists AC187 and rat amylin8 37when
compared to saline treated rats.
Conclusion:
Both Amylin and Salmon Calcitonin inhibit formalin induced c Fos expression in the rat lumbar spinal
cord when

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy Definition
Tan s (2007) article, Use of Prayer and Scripture in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, is about using
prayers and scriptures in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). According to Tan (2007), Cognitive
Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is the utmost empirically supported treatments (ESTs), (p.101). The article
noted that a recent placebo controlled study of behavioral activation, cognitive therapy and
antidepressant medication of paroxetine of 241 adults that suffered from major depressive disorder
showed that behavioral activation is as successful as antidepressant medication and more successful
than cognitive therapy in treatment for severely depressed adults, (Tan, 2007, p 101). Tan (2007) gives

Essay About My Best Friend
From one month ago. I played basketball with my best friend and I also know he is better than me.
Yeah, I m jealous of him so I pushed him to think he hurts his ankle, I know I did wrong, but I just felt
that he was so cocky, I didn t say sorry. I didn t want to say sorry. After that I feel awkward, but I
thought he could just think joke or will be fine, but I could feel he doesn t like me anymore he treat me
like trash, I didn t know what did I do, I just pushed him but I really don t understand why he is acting
like a girl and what s wrong with him. He didn t talk to me in the school, he didn t even try to face me
he didn t answer my text or call. I was so frustrating. One day I held his arm and said What is wrong
with you and he said, not your business and you really don t know? after that time I was so sad and
angry. But I hope at least our friendships will be recovered, but that was my stupid imaginary. He
started playing with other friends but not me. And when I see his laughing face I was so mad I don t
know why, but I think I jealous because he was playing and having fun with other friends, not me. I
asked him a lot let s go gym or do you want to play game he said I m busy but I saw he was hanging
out with other friends because he just posted pictures on Instagram. My hope was just broken. Now I
m starting mad, I trusted him and hope that he will be fine, but I guess I don t need to trust or hope. I
will start revenge, I will start to plan how to

Hurricane Katrin The Hurricane
INTRODUCTION:
Early in the morning on August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast of the United
States. The storm itself did a great deal of damage, but its aftermath was catastrophic. Levee breaches
led to massive flooding, and many people charged that the federal government was slow to meet the
needs of the people affected by the storm. Hundreds of thousands of people in Louisiana, Mississippi
and Alabama were displaced from their homes, and experts estimate that Katrina caused more than
$150 billion in damage.[1]
HURRICANE KATRINA: BEFORE THE STORM:
Katrina at first shaped over the Bahamas on Aug. 23, 2005, as a tropical sorrow. A decently
characterized band of storm mists started to wrap around the north side of the storm s flow focus in the
early morning hours of Aug. 24. The storm was named Tropical Storm Katrina. The day preceding
Katrina hit, New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin issued the city s first ever obligatory clearing request. He
likewise pronounced that the Superdome, a stadium found on moderately high ground close
downtown, would serve as a haven of final resort for individuals who couldn t leave the city. By dusk,
very nearly 80 percent of the city s populace had emptied. Around 10,000 had looked for sanctuary in
the Superdome, while countless others decided to endure the storm at home.[2]
When it went to southern Florida on Aug. 25, Katrina was a moderate Category 1 typhoon. While it
brought on some flooding and losses two individuals were

The Great Gatsby And Angry Mindsets Of Modernism
Modernism brought a new era to fiction as a whole. With World War One raging distress and fear to
people worldwide, the modernists as a whole were very angry. They were angry with the propaganda
of the time telling them that war was good; those who d seen the battlefield knew better. They
despised their didactic Victorian predecessors, who taught clear divisions between right and wrong.
Modernists instead believed that authority figures were corrupt and that morality is often unclear. This
comes to light especially within the poems of Eliot and Yeats, and especially in the modernist
manifesto Blast. With this lack of clarity, the writing of this time shifted dramatically. The writings
reflect the confused, frightened, and angry mindset of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Apostle Paul sees visions of immense human suffering during the apocalypse, all of which are
contrasted against miraculously beautiful images of eternal happiness. Perhaps Yeats is snickering at
the Bible itself with all it s little contradictions as it begs people to believe in it. Or perhaps Yeats is
bringing out the fear that underlies Christianity a fear of hell, of losing one s purpose, of not being
included in the rapture and suffering the consequences. Yeats is clearly mocking Christianity and the
idea of a Second Coming as if people are not already living in a consistent state of suffering and
happiness already. Eliot uses a an even bolder approach in his poem The Hollow Men . The epigraphs
start with an allusion to Conrad s novella Heart of Darkness, simply saying Mistah Kurtz he dead
(2318). Considering the character Kurtz acted like as a God like figure that ended up murdering the
native Africans, Eliot sets his poem up with a great disrespect toward authority figures before it even

What Is The Final Chapter Of Nickel And Dimed
The final chapter of Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich, Evaluation , states about low income
families being almost invisible to the mid to high income families. This observation is valid because
walking around places, Walmart, Kmart, etc., a person cannot distinguish what class the person is in.
Poorer families are also rarely portrayed on television or other forms of entertainment, unless the
show is about people getting arrested, since most people only find higher class, comfortable people
interesting. Also, everything in society is unequal, a person can sit at a desk and order people around
all day, without moving, and earn a salary of at least $60,000, while the individual or individuals who
get stuck with all of his work, are getting paid around $25,000 a year. Yes, everyone starts out at a low
on the totem pole job at a company and they work their way up the food chain to get to the job they
want, but the lower class gets deemed lazy and or a high school dropout if they are seen waiting tables
or working at a fast food place or retail store past the age of 25 30. Just because they are working
twice as hard as the executives and other people higher up in society, and get paid twice to three times
less than them, does not mean they lack normal human emotions. ... Show more content on

Walking around stores such as Walmart, people watching is a very common activity. Everyone has

Tizbeth Alternate Ending
Tizbeth rushed forward and sliding on the ground so the golden, cat woman missed her, sailing over
her head. The fire pit stopped her with a crunched to her shoulder. Good girl. The voice was that of the
cat woman, but the cat s lips didn t move. It was a real compliment. Tizbeth turned to face the threat.
Good Bye. And the golden cat attacked again. Tizbeth aimed the blade at the beast s heart. The blade
deflected off the creature s chest. Tizbeth scrambled to her feet. The cat sat on its haunches and looked
at her, shook its head and knocked the knife into the fire. That isn t new. Now the golden cat sounded
like a spoiled child whose toy just broke. New. New. What did she have that was new? Forget new.

The Catcher In The Rye Character Analysis
It is often said that the people one surrounds themselves with can reflect things about themselves, such
as their beliefs and ideals. One s friends and acquaintances can reveal subconscious attractions to
people that fulfill their ideals or agree with the things they say, but these relationships can also help
one discover their personal philosophies by reinforcing opposing views. Indeed, in J.D. Salinger s
novel, The Catcher in the Rye, the way Holden reacts to and interacts with secondary characters reveal
his established philosophies and the values he holds most dear to him.
Although Holden never directly interacts with Jane Gallagher during the course of the novel, the way
he thinks and talks about her, as well as the way he remembers ... Show more content on

Stradlater doesn t know or care. Holden becomes so overwhelmed by the thought of him giving Jane
time, he gets into a physical altercation with his roommate. After this incident, Holden begins to
idealize Jane s image increasingly, leading to him imagining a fantastic scene after he gets robbed by a
pimp, Maurice. Then I d crawl back to my room and call up Jane and have her come over and bandage
up my guts. I pictured her holding a cigarette for me to smoke while I was bleeding and all (Salinger
104). This is why Holden can t talk to Jane; he has created another disjointed image of her in his mind
that he uses to rescue himself. Jane saves him; but it s not really Jane, more likely than not, the Jane in
Holden s head hasn t existed for years. His image of her becoming more and more warped, and his
cowardice in refusing to talk to her, show Holden s inability to reconcile the past, his childhood, with
the present: the fact that he and others around him are growing up. [ADD SOMETHING HERE?]
In a complete contrast to Jane appears Sally Hayes, an attractive but obnoxious girl that Holden goes
out with quite a lot. From Holden s perspective, Sally Hayes is everything he despises in the world;
phony, conceited, and stupid. But the truth is that Sally is probably just a typical, beautiful, seventeen

hope to rekindle an old flame with his past love Daisy Buchanan. Despite the fact that Daisy has

continues to attempt to revive their previous connection for one another. Gatsby completely alters his
lifestyle by devoting every minute to expanding his wealth to gain Daisy s satisfaction. Eventually

(9 Fitzgerald) It has become clear to why Gatsby is capitated by her, he is so infatuated that he devises
this meaning to Daisy. Gatsby then falls more deeply in love with his idea of her, rather than the real
Daisy. Critic W. J. Harvey states that Gatsby is not the simple antithesis of Tom and Daisy; he is
implicated in their kind of corruption too, and his dreams is proved hollow not only by the inadequacy
of the actual correlative that is, Daisy to the hunger of his aspiring imagination, but also by the means
he uses to build up the gaudy fabric of his vision. (Harvey) Harvey explains that Gatsby has imagined
this character he aspires to become, he has invested himself in this character and love for Daisy that
was in actuality just a figment of his imagination. There is no question doubting Gatsby fondness for
Daisy, from the day they met to his bleak death. After denied into Daisy s artificial world he left,
feeling that if he had searched harder, he might have found her that he was leaving her behind. (160
Fitzgerald). Gatsby s love for Daisy is so great, but it cannot break the disparity between the two.
Gatsby will always be defined as new money; new money will never be accepted by Daisy. Through
the use of Mutschler 3 parallelism, Fitzgerald writes that there were the same people, or at least the
same sort of people, the same profusion of champagne,

Essay about Intellectual Property Rights and the Piracy...
Introduction
With a population of 1.357 billion (2013)3, China is the most populated country in the world. Along
with the huge population comes a market that is unmatched by any other country of the world. Both
domestic companies and foreign companies want to tap into this large market that just recently
embraced capitalism and entered into the World Trade Organization.
China also provided a labor force that is able to tackle both white collar and blue collar job positions.
This made foreign companies rush both monetary and technological resources into China to utilize the
manufacturing and development power. Both Microsoft and Sun have created research and

The counterfeiting went on so that the Asian market s mass population can afford the things that only
the riches can without worrying too much about their expenses. With the technological advances in
multimedia and the Internet, China is seeing a flood of copyright infringements in optical disk
piracies, internet piracy, and other forms of piracy that didn t exist before the computer and internet. I
will address those technical piracies in China in this paper.
Optical disk piracy is the production of optical disks that contain intellectual property that can be
written and accessed from the disk. The copyright infringement of optical disk piracy is affecting the
music industry, the movie industry, and the software industry. Optical disk piracy comes in the forms
of CD, CD R, DVD, and VCD. The music industry in China has lost an estimate of $600 million in
revenues due to CD piracy, with the U.S. companies at $48 million.6 The pirated CDs either are
counterfeited from the original CDs or a mix match of songs put together by the violators. This is a
huge crisis for the domestic music industry with them only seeing a slight rise in revenue only in
2002.7 Next we have the CDs and CD Rs that are causing a massive output of pirated software in
China. There are licensed factories in China that actually create these pirated software CDs along with
genuine ones to be sold to the public with the knowledge that they are violating the rights of the

  • 2. What Are The Similarities Between Inanna Queen Of Heaven... When comparing the film with different texts that we have read, Death was served as a gateway to the other realms. For example, in Inanna: Queen of Heaven and Earth , Inanna goes to the underworld to visit her sister, Queen Ereshkigal. The Queen who despises Inanna has her servants torture her as she goes through each layer. After going through a series of gates in the underworld, she was stripped off each part of her clothes one by one and was later chained and tortured in hell from the evil creatures that dwell underneath in the mountain. In each gate, not only were different punishments carried out but Inanna was walking through darkness and seeing less of the light. • 3. Analysis Of Street Art Of Israel And Palestine Before the study of street art in Israel and Palestine can begin, first, one must understand why these artworks are there a basic principle in any art theory. For instance, taking Picasso s Guernica (see fig. 1.1) as an example, it appears at first glance to be a disturbing painting, very abstract in style and chaotic in its composition. The appeal of abstract art is that it is less superficially explicit. I would argue that this conveys deeper meaning to the viewer because of the personal journey required to untangle what it is that he is seeing. When one learns that Picasso painted Guernica in response to the bombing of his hometown, the namesake of the work, an element of the celestial emerges, and Picasso s ability to express this ... If a barrier is erected, consideration to the other party must be demonstrated otherwise expect retaliation and accusations that it is a form of arbitrary detention on a large scale. Therefore, it is widely recognised that the partition should stand upon, or be situated inside, the de facto border: The Pre 1967 Armistice Line (see fig. 1.2), alternatively known as The Green Line (hereby referred to as GL) so named as green ink was used to geographically mark the factions territories with respect to their military distribution before the 1967 war. This act situated 78% of Mandatory Palestine as Israel and was carried out on the arrangement that: No provision of this Agreement shall in any way prejudice the rights, claims, and positions of either Party hereto in the ultimate peaceful settlement of the Palestine question... being dictated exclusively by military, and not by political, considerations. In spite of the obvious pitfalls which arise from augmenting the separation barrier away from the GL s original purpose as an armistice line, it has become recognised by international officials inclusive of Arab states and the Palestinian diaspora, e.g. The Palestinian Liberation Organisation as the Israeli boundary, despite it never formally declared as ... • 4. Out Of All The Assassin s Creed If Skyrim and The Witcher 3 had a baby, Ubisoft s Assassin s Creed: Origins would be it, and dare I predict, Origins is bound to achieve same legacy as those two legends. Knowing that, Origins has significantly strayed away from its Assassin s Creed roots; it does not play like an Assassin s Creed game at all. Instead, Origins has taken a more open world, do anything you want approach, which I think is perfect for the game s breathtaking Ancient Egyptian setting. From exploring vast deserts to robbing visiting little mudbrick houses, Origins offers so many activities that it is impossible to go through it all in one playthrough. Ride a horse (or camel!) through Alexandrian streets, climb the pyramids, or raid some tombs for valuable treasure Origins is a game that has something for everyone. ... Out of all the Assassin s Creed protagonists, Bayek is arguably the most human of them all and this is coming from a die hard Ezio fan. In other words, Bayek is not a cool mysterious stoic wannabee; he is a living, breathing character the player would want to be friends ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Recreation Of Virtual Reality Some people identify the recreation of virtual reality in rudimentary Victorian stereoscopes, the first 3d video viewers. Others point to a sort of out of body experience. But to most people, VR was created by a handful of developers in the 1950s and 1960s. In 1962 filmmaker Mort Heilig patented the first VR system: the Sensorama, an arcade style room with a 3D display and vibrating seat. Heilig imagined it as the first in a line of products for the cinema of the future, unfortunately that future failed to arrive in his lifetime. In 1965, Ivan Sutherland already known as the creator of revolutionary computer interface Sketchpad accepted of what he named The Ultimate Display, Which was a room which a computer can control the ... The display was all wire frames, but they were 3D models, and the person could change your position and see different views thanks to a tracking system built on the head mount. In the 1950s and 1960s, Myron Krueger and Ivan Sutherland built a model train like environment, with all the tiny buildings and aircraft, and flew a little camera across the surface to create an image that could be fed into the cockpit and looked like an out the window scene. And then it actually changed to computer based imagery using Evans and Sutherland s devices. Ivan Sutherland was involved in making some of the fast hardware that would make it possible to do the perspective transformations quickly enough so you could have some degree of manipulation in the games. Skip a couple years ahead to the 1990s and 2000 a number of different head mounted displays (HMDs) were released to little fanfare by consumers. I O Display Systems had its named i Glasses, VictorMaxx had a number of HMDs with names like Stuntmaster and CyberMaxx, and Forte Technologies had its VFX line. By and large, these HMDs were failures. The underlying tech just wasn t good enough yet, and the massive price tags prevented any bit of traction from forming. Along these headsets, the resolution and overall performance usually sucked, but the worst part was how half hearted so many devises were. Some models didn t feature ... As tensions grew between the United States and Great Britain, a war was inevitable with the people of America growing tired of the British rule and wanting independence, the Revolutionary War was the next step in trying to free itself from British tyranny. It plays a significant role in facilitating economic growth, notably in developing countries. Flying transports close to two billion travelers per annum and four hundredth of interregional fares of merchandise (by worth), four hundredth of international tourists currently travel by air. The air transportation industry generates a total of twenty nine million jobs globally (through direct, indirect, induced and catalytic impacts). Aviation s international economic impact (direct, indirect, induced and catalytic) is calculable at US$ 2,960 billion, comparable to 8 may 1945 of world Gross Domestic Product (GDP) Aviation boasts high occupancy rates of sixty five to seventieth that is more than double those of road and rail transportation. Air transportation entirely covers its infrastructure prices. In contrast to road and rail, it is a net contributor to national treasuries through taxation. Modern craft achieve fuel efficiencies of three.5 liters per one hundred passenger km or sixty seven passenger miles per US gallon. The next generation craft (A380 amp; B787) are targeting a potency of less than three liters per one hundred passenger km or seventy eight passenger miles per US gallon5, which exceeds the efficiency of any modern automobile on the market. • 8. African American Family In The 1970 s Once again, in the 1970s, changes in the structure and dynamics of the American family are present in the popular 1970s TV show The Brady Bunch . Perhaps the biggest change that is present is the structure of the family portrayed. The Brady s, the TV shows main subject, would be considered a blended family. Mike Brady, the father in the show, has three sons from a previous relationship; he marries Carol, who has three daughters from a previous relationship, there marriage brings both families together. I would classify the family as an upper middle class family, based on the appearance of their house and the presence of a full time maid at their house. Similar to TV shows from previous decades the children appear to be submissive to the authority ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The family that is depicted in this TV show is the Huxtable family, this is a African American family with a nuclear family structure, as it contains a married couple living with their five children. This is the first TV show that we watched that s main subject is an African American family. In the previous TV shows viewed there was a lack of any type of African American population in them. Based on the careers of the parents, one being a doctor and the other being a lawyer, I can assume that this is an upper middle class family. For the first time, in this show we see the children being a bit rebellious, and less submissive to the authority of their parents. It appears that both parents share equal authority, and an argument can be made that the mother is more authoritative then the father in this show, as the father seems to take more of a relaxed comical approach to confrontations with his children. This show does correlate with the real culture of the decade, as for the first time African American s are able to hold high level jobs such as the ones that both parents in this show have. However, this show may possess a false narrative, as through studying this period in time there is still obvious racial barriers that are being put against the African American race. Indeed this idea goes back all throughout history, existing from biblical times, to those of the French Revolution, continuing on with Stalin s Soviet Union, and still existing today in our society. These norms define what actions and reactions are appropriate for any situation, as well as providing a basis on which different classes can properly live their lives. However, sometimes these norms contain questionable content that, when viewed, is found to be harmful to their way of live, destructive of their culture, and detrimental to their freedom and rights to the pursuit of happiness. It is in these moments that it is prudent that people stand up against the restrictive norms and fight for their rights. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 10. The Bolsheviks Lawyers would say that Europe, Asia, and the United States of America are completely different. However, from the point of view of the citizens, the similarities in their daily lives are numerous, even if some fundamental differences remain. To begin with the most obvious similarity and example: in the USA, as well as in parts of Europe, citizens use a single currency, identical to the currency of their neighboring States. Just as in Europe, in the USA, several decisions remain the responsibility of the states, such as highway code, certain taxes, social welfare, minimum wages, and certain areas of justice. It should not be unforeseen that the Bolsheviks worked hard to safeguard that any person potentially antagonistic to them did not retain arms. The first Soviet gun controls were enacted during the Russian Civil War, as Czarists, Western troops, and national independence movements fought the central Red regime. Firearm registration was instituted on April 1, 1918. In October 1918, the Council of People s Commissars (the government) ordered the renunciation of all firearms, ammunition, and sabers. As has been the case in nearly every nation where firearms registration has been introduced, registration proved a preamble to confiscation. Excused from the confiscation order, however, were affiliates of the Communist Party. A 1920 decree imposed a obligatory minimum penalty of six months in prison for non Communist possession of a firearm, even where there was no felonious intent. After the Red triumph in the Civil War, the firearm laws were consolidated in a Criminal Code, which if broken, unauthorized possession of a firearm would be punishable by rigid labor. A 1925 law made unauthorized possession of a firearm punishable by three months of hard labor, plus a fine of 300 rubles (equal to about four months wages for a highly paid construction worker). Stalin apparently found little need to alternate the weapons control structure he had inherited. This chapter of Lethal Laws summarizes the genocide perpetrated by Stalin from 1929 to 1953, starting with his efforts to collectivize farming by destroying the class of property owning farmers. Altogether, about twenty million people were murdered, worked to death in slave labor camps, or deliberately starved to death by Stalin s government. The state uses benefits, free healthcare, free education and provide adequate living conditions to ensure that people s health and well being is looked after. One of the aims of the welfare state is to eliminate poverty, poverty can come in many different forms some worse then others. The welfare state was first started by the Liberal government between 1906 1919. They started to introduce new services under social security, health, education, housing, employment and the treatment of offenders. Rowntree did research into poverty and this influenced the Liberal government to take responsibility to try to reduce poverty. In 1906 free school meals were introduced, in 1909 old age pensions were given to those who could no longer work. The most important thing the Liberals introduced was National Insurance in 1911. These changes mainly helped the old and disabled as it prevented these groups from going into poverty. However it didn t help those who were unemployed or already in poverty as they could pay into the National Insurance scheme. In 1940 50, after winning the Second World War the people of Britain never wanted to return to pre war conditions. There had been 20 years of mass unemployment and no help was given to those in poverty. The measures introduced by the Liberal government were not proving successful. The environments and housing people had to live in were of poor condition and helped spread disease. The Labour government decided that no one should be allowed to live in poverty and the Welfare state should be for everybody. To get rid of disease everyone was to have proper healthcare so the National Health Service was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sensor Technology Applied to Martial Arts  SOCIAL AND ETHICAL CONSIDERATION: The system relates to the type of protective clothing worn by the players in sports like in martial arts, taekwondo and kick boxing. Technology is becoming is very common in sports to highlight the unfair decisions made by the referees during a game, it s a very complicated procedure to link technology with the sports, however introducing sensors like (proximity, motion sensor, impact sensors) in sports create a vast difference in the decision making of referees on field and also put fairness in the game and enjoyment for the audience coming into see the game. The invention of impact measurement and sensor technology uses the Piezo electric film sensors on the protective clothing worn by the players to help the referees to make accurate decision of scoring in a game. The recently introduced judgment making technologies has however, surged the accountability of the referee and judges to ensure the precision of scoring, as scores now come spontaneously from two sources (1) the electronic scoring system, (2) the judges via hand held electronic controllers. While the technology does mention about the points that may not have been seen via the open eyes due to the surged speed of the game and upturned complexity of practices, quite a lot of the interviewees expressed fear of points being scored through the closing of circuitry rather than power and/or technique. A person is either free or a slave, a native Greek or a foreigner, rich or poor, royalty or not, and in the case of gender, either a man or a woman. This kind of dichotomy was a good way to impose social order and maintain harmony in Greek society because their social hierarchy was quite rigid. A protection to both society and the citizens, criminal law allows for government intervention on the daily issues of the country (Saunders and Bromwich, 2016, p. 15). Regulations purposes listed here are just a few: Protecting the environment, regulating the marketplace, and regulating individuals (Saunders and Bromwich, 2016, p. 16 25). The government is concerned with the amount of damage caused by human beings to earth. Water supplies are being damaged through agricultural by products, industries are spewing chemicals in the air, water, and ground, and the disposal of waste in our lands and water (Saunders and Bromwich, 2016, p. 16). The government regulates the destruction of earth by creating ways to incentivize and protect the environment (Saunders and Bromwich, 2016, p. 16). In the marketplace, rich businesses cause white collar crimes. Fraud, scams, or misleading advertisements are regulated by the government through criminal law (Saunders and Bromwich, 2016, p. 20 21). Furthermore, the government is obligated to regulate the individuals within society (Saunders and Bromwich, 2016, p. 23 25). • 23. Argumentative Essay On Declining Fish Over fishing our waters is causing a great deal of concern amongst environmentalist and commercial fishermen. According to the Declining Fish Stock video, the average commercial fishermen s catch is about 20,000 pounds. This has been estimated to equal a couple hundred fish per day per vessel (Declining Fish, 2007). Some studies indicate that commercial fishing fleets have stripped the ocean waters of at least 90 percent of its big fish (Declining Fish, 2007). This has begun to cause heavy competition between commercial fishermen who are left competing for the other 10 percent of the remaining fish population (Declining Fish, 2007). Studies indicate that our oceans are not as resilient as we had once believed (Declining Fish, 2007). According to Dr. Jeremy Jackson of the Scripps Institute of Oceanography, we will never again be able to fish our waters at the level that we have been over the last half century (Declining Fish, 2007). Dr. Jackson also states that over fishing is more destructive to the ocean waters than toxic pollution or degrading water quality (Declining Fish, 2007). This is a frightening thought and seems to have environmentalists and commercial fishermen at each other s throats. When asked if the damage to the fish population is at a level of completion, Dr. Jackson said that the damage was near completion but that the damage could be reversed if we take much needed drastic measures to ensure that these fish have a chance to repopulate (Declining Fish, ... Background Amylin and Salmon Calcitonin belong to the calcitonin family of peptides and have high affinity binding sites in the rat spinal cord. The aim of this study was to functionally characterize receptors for Amylin and Salmon Calcitonin in the spinal cord of rats. We assessed the expression of c fos in response to intraplantar formalin in the lumbar regions of spinal cord in conscious rats. Methods: Amylin (0.05nmoles) or Salmon Calcitonin (0.005nmoles) were administrated intrathecally) 10 min before the start of formalin test. Antagonists were injected intrathecally 10min before the administration of either of the peptides. Results: Two hours after formalin stimulation, rats pretreated intrathecally by either Amylin or Salmon Calcitonin showed lower numbers of c Fos immunoreactive nuclei in their lumbar spinal cord as compared to rats pretreated by saline. These effects were reversed upon co administration of either of the Amylin antagonists AC187 or rat amylin8 37, but not rat α CGRP8 37. Few cells with c Fos immunreactivity were found in the lumbar spinal cord of rats two hours after i.t. injection of saline, Amylin and/or Salmon Calcitonin. The storm itself did a great deal of damage, but its aftermath was catastrophic. Levee breaches led to massive flooding, and many people charged that the federal government was slow to meet the needs of the people affected by the storm. Poorer families are also rarely portrayed on television or other forms of entertainment, unless the show is about people getting arrested, since most people only find higher class, comfortable people interesting.
