Make Up History
Makeup has been around for at least 6000 years and some may even say 100000 years, but it all has
evolved to what it is today. Women use makeup to enhance their natural beauty, but how they
express themselves to the public has changed constantly.
Makeup was first originated from Egypt. The ancient Egyptians used copper and lead ore to create
the world s first cosmetics, as early 40000 10000 BCE. They lined their eye with kohl, a substance
made of soot, metal, and fat. It was thought that kohl helped to prevent the eyes from blindness. Red
or orange lipstick was worn to symbolize status both men and women in the upper class wore it.
They also used scented oils and ointments to clean and soften their skin and mask body odor. And
also oils and creams were used for protection against the hot Egyptian sun and dry winds.
During the 3000 BCE, Chinese people stained their fingernails with gum arabic, gelatin, beeswax,
and egg. And with these fingernail stains created different colors which represented different social

Wearing a full face of makeup was still seen as a sin, but natural tones gave a healthy, pink cheek
look. Before 1914, many woman were creating their own versions of mascara at home, by adding
hot beads of black wax to the tips of their eye lashes. By 1914, T.L. Williams created the first
modern commercial mascara formulate. It contained of petroleum jelly and carbon soot. The
mascara was called Mabel, and now is known as Maybelline. Around 1920s, the first pressed
powders were introduced, which included a mirror and a puff for touchups. A pressed powder
blush followed after. Revlon was founded Charles and Joseph Revson, nail polish distributors,
and Charles Lackman, a nail polish supplier in 1932. Revlon is a brand that sells nail polish in a

Hockey Is A Unifying Force
Hockey is closer to a religion than a simple sporting pastime in Canada. It is a unifying force in a
nation where one state wanted to separate from the rest of Canada. Hockey has a major impact
on the social, economic, cultural and political realms of Canada. In the 2014 olympics, alcohol
laws in bars were lifted when Canada was in the finals for the gold medal. People were drinking
in 5 o clock in the morning which would be frowned upon in many social circles in any other
circumstances. Maurice is credited with raising the National Hockey Leagueto major sport status ,

League. He was ranked 5th behind greats like Wayne Gretzky, Gordie Howe, Mario Lemieux and

puck in the back of the net. He was one of the greatest goal scorers in the history of the game. He
was the first player to score 50 goals in 50 games, he was the first 500 goal scorer in the history
of the NHL. Not only did he score goals at will but he also scored the big goals, for example, he
scored the most goals scored in overtime during the post season, a record that he would hold until
October 2006. Two of them against the heavily favoured Detroit Red Wings in 1951 both in Detroit
one a minute into the 4th overtime period and the next 2 minutes into 3rd overtime period. During
his eighteen year hockey career all with the Montreal Canadiens, he would collect eight stanley

Distressed Real Estate
In New York, it is a legal requirement for a seller to disclose of a property under inspection if it
is believed to be haunted by ghosts. As a realtor they never know what their walking into when
they enter a new house. When realtors get assigned a house they have a brief history of what
happened in the house. The house could have had a massacre in it or have ghosts. It doesn t
matter what type of house it is, it doesn t matter how it looks on the outside, it s always the inside
that truly matters. There is over a 100 years of history of reality. The National Association of
Realtors was started in 1908 ( National Association of Realtors ). The first meeting was in a Ymca
auditorium in Chicago Illinois, with a hundred and twenty members, nineteen boards, and one state

The Pros And Cons Of Republicanism
terms of demography and territory in the Ethiopian state, were targeted for destruction, and instead
forced to glorify the identities and cultures of the oppressive group (xxx, xxx).
Meanwhile, the notion of the nation was introduced to Europe in a powerful way during the
Revolution and the subsequent Napoleonic period (xxx, xxx). After Napoleon was finally subdued,
European monarchs and their representatives assembled in Vienna to chart a more peaceful order
for themselves (xxx, xxx). They blamed the mayhem that Europe endured between the early 1790s
and 1815 on the notion of popular sovereignty and thus agreed to proscribe Republicanism (xxx,
xxx). At the same time, however, they began conceding the idea of nation by binding the ruled and

The inconsistencies in the implementation even partly contributed to the outbreak of the Second
World War (xxx, xxx). The European powers mobilized their African subjects with propaganda
vilifying the racial supremacist ideology of the Fascist powers. This set in motion a process in
which Fascist nationalism produced the opposed reality of anti Fascism; and anti Fascism became
antiracism; and antiracism led in due course to an end of colonization (Davidson, 1992). The
result was the erasure of European colonial rule from large swathes of the African continent within
a relatively short period of time (xxx, xxx). Consequently, this led to the development of a
decolonized version of the self determination concept. The decolonization version of self
determination was based on the following three principles: i) all dependent peoples are entitled to
freedom; ii) the peoples so entitled are defined in terms of the existing colonial territories, each of
which contains a nation; and iii) once such a people has come to independence, no residual right of
self determination remains with any group within it or cutting across its frontiers (Emerson 1964).
This version of self determination had numerous implications. The concerned entities often did not
find it necessary to demonstrate effective legitimate authority to gain and

Yoga has also been found to be beneficial in alleviating cardiovascular conditions and preventing
heart failure. This also is a physical ailment that impacts productivity.
Constant practice of the breathing techniques and some simple poses improves blood circulation,
and alleviates high blood pressure and other heart related diseases. Yoga does not only treat these
conditions, it also keeps a check on them, so that they do not resurface.
YOGA IMPROVES MOVEMENT
Yoga improves balance and flexibility, allowing you a movement range that you would ordinarily

Mirror neurons are neurons that are activated by the actions we take and the actions we see others
take. For example if someone buys a new pair of shoes the neurons are activated but if the same
person sees someone else wearing a new pair of shoes the same neurons are activated. Your brain
subconsciously imagines you taking the actions that others are taking.
This phenomenon is why you cringe when you see someone get hurt. You experience their pain
momentarily and literally feel for them. The same thing can be said when you walk down the
street and see that 3 out of 5 people are using their iPhones. Your brain imagines you having an
iPhone every time you see someone using one. This causes you to want an iPhone more and more
until you have one.
This chapter is applicable to everyone. I think that we all feel like we have to buy something to fit
in at times because everyone else is doing it. It is important for us to recognize when we are doing
or purchasing something because we want it and doing or purchasing something because everyone

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Adversity is a large factor in the shaping process of one s character development, but it always
varies from person to person. In his novel The Book Thief, Markus Zusak integrates adversity
into the lives of his characters through the political struggles during the era of World War II, to
ultimately shape their personal character and identity. The development by adversity is
demonstrated largely through three different characters: Liesel Meminger, Hans Hubermann,
and Max Vandenberg. Liesel Meminger faces a couple accounts of hardships, or adversities,
before even arriving at the doorstep of her foster parents Rosa and Hans Hubermann. In the fifth
chapter of The Book Thief, Liesel s brother dies directly in front of her own eyes, resulting in
endless dreams every night about her brother, always ending in his death; this also creates
pathos for the reader because Liesel s pain and agony is visible every single day, but is being
used to strengthen her relationship with her foster father, Hans ( Papa ). Another factor in the
development of Hans and Liesel s relationship is the loss of Liesel s mother. A loss usually
signifies a death, but in Liesel s case, it signifies her mother leaving and never to answer the
letters that are continuously sent to her. Hans Hubermann has a soft and docile character, and is
not only used to comfort Liesel after her nightmares, but to become the parent figure that Liesel
craves as a young 10 year old girl, especially after losing her entire

Control characters are used when sending data to a printer, monitor, modem, or other device.
XOFF (usually referenced by CTRL+S) is used by the transmitting side at the end of the data
pulsed to say that the transmission batch is complete. XON (usually referenced by CTRL+Q) is
used to start the transmission, and is found at the beginning of the data pulse. (ComputerHope,
2004)
Simplex and duplex
A simplex data transmission is only sent one way and without control characters or error signals.
An example of a simplex transmission would be the alarm codes that are sent to officials at a
burglar alarm company.
A half duplex transmission can send a signal and then receive a signal, but cannot send and receive
at the same time. An example would be a CB radio that can send a message, and then listen for the
response.
A duplex data transmission is capable of sending and receiving data at the same time. A telephone
line is an example of a full duplex transmission system. (Eserver, 2004)
Serial and parallel transmission
Serial transmission is the consecutive transmission of the signal. The characters are transmitted in a
sequence over a single line, rather than simultaneously over two or more lines, as in parallel
transmission.
Parallel transmission are packets of data sent at the same time, usually over more than one
transmission line. This results in faster transmission of data. Many times, this data is sent
sporadically, and start and stop

Painting, Violet Persian Set With Red Lip Wraps By Dale...
The exhibition that focuses on contemporary artworks since 1960 will be small, containing only
two pieces. The pieces are both sculptures, Violet Persian Set with Red Lip Wraps by Dale Chihuly
and Nefertiti by Wendall Castle. The theme of the exhibition will be about the reimagining of the
exotic female form through abstract sculpturespecifically, in the round, free standing sculptures.
Both Chihuly s piece as well as Castle s fit this theme as they depict abstract forms that can be
interpreted as feminine. However, the pieces look radically different from one another and are
fairly abstract. One sculpture shows a strong and regal womanly form while the other could be
interpreted as the exact opposite. Both sculpture s in the exhibition can also be seen as being
inspired by the exotic and romanticized past. At a glance, Violet Persian set with red lip wraps is a
very abstract form with many different parts and pieces. There are coneshapes wrapped in thin
waved sheets of blown glass. It appears as though Chihuly uses cane working in his piece as
there are stripes of color throughout each layer. It measures approximately 2.5 feet by 2 feet by 2
feet and is made of twenty different sections of sculpted glass that must be disassembled and
reassembled every time it is moved. The outer wraps, like shells, gently wrap the glass shapes in
their folds. The interior sculptures take on the shapes of cones, trumpets and petals and are nestled
closely together. The sculpture can be

To conclude, though use of Aspergillus species is common in synthesis of metal nanoparticles,
these five species are not well studied. Among them, A. fischeri confirms a good quality production
of AgNPs at an incredibly low concentration of salt solution used but with more number of bigger
sized particles. However, efforts are underway to optimize the conditions in the process to obtain a
good size and shape morphology. Also, understanding the protein nanoparticle interactions during
the synthesis mechanism shall guide us to the possibility of utilizing the present system as future

Characterization
Change in color was visually observed in the silver nitrate solution incubated with all five
Aspergillus species. The bio reduction of Ag+ in the aqueous solutions was screened by
sampling of aliquots at different time intervals. Absorption measurements were carried out on
Thermo scientific UV Visible Spectrophotometer from 200 800nm, at a resolution of 1 nm. A
part of the dried powdered sample was analysed by X ray diffractometer as a preliminary
confirmative method of the presence of silver nanoparticles. The X ray diffractometer (Rigaku
Miniflex 11) was operated at a voltage of 30 kV and a current of 15mA with CuKО± radiation
(О»=1.5406 Г…) and at 2 theta angles, intensities were recorded from 6В°to 60В°. To know the
size of synthesized silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), size distribution analysis was performed using
dynamic light scattering in aqueous solution. The hydrodynamic size of the silver nanoparticles
was obtained using a Zeta sizer (Malvern) instrument applying a 660 nm laser. The software was
optimized to report summary statistics based upon the intensity of light scattered. Two milliliter
sample volumes from each nanosilver dispersion were loaded into glass cuvettes and summary
statistics were obtained using triplicate 2 minutes analyses (total analysis time=6minutes). For

Ottoman And Italian Charity And Charity
According to Skocpol and Somers, one of the major uses of comparative history is to make
observations about institutions and structures and how they develop in different nations. Now
when one thinks about points of comparison, they probably think about broad categories like
religion, the state, etc., these are all obvious categories for comparative history, a less obvious
topic however, is poor relief and charity. How to deal with the poor (in this case, orphans, those
out of work, the sick, etc.) is an almost universal problem that every state or polity in the early
modern Mediterranean had to address in some form or another. This makes poor relief and charity a
prime candidate for comparison. For example, take the Italian states and the Ottoman Empire. On
the surface, you can find vast differences between the two, Italian city states were Christian and
were often individual cities that were independent of each other; meanwhile the Ottoman Empire
was a vast, Muslim state compromising large amounts of territory. Despite these differences, one
can find similarities in regards to how charity and poor relief were handled.

Low-speed Circulating Wind Tunnels Essay
Introduction When a viscous fluid flows along a fixed impermeable wall, or past the rigid
surface of an immersed body, an essential condition is that a velocity at any point on the wall or
other fixed surface is zero. To the extent to which the condition modifies the general character of
the flow is dependent on the viscosity of the fluid. If a body has a streamlined shape and the
fluid flowing over the body has a small viscosity that is not negligible, the modifying effect
appears to be confined to the narrowest regions adjacent to the solid surfaces; these are called
boundary layers. Within these layers, there is a rapid change in velocity which gives rise to a large
velocity gradient normal to the boundary which produces a shear stress... Show more content on

In the medium air speed wind tunnels where wind speed ranges from 1.5 40m/s, several types of
wind tunnels can be applied. At first, an open suction type wind tunnel can have a large test
section with high contraction ratio [3]. This type of wind tunnel has a large inlet area to take
motionless air to the test section. Air filters can be installed before the inlet to prevent any dust
from entering the test section and disturbing the air flow [3]. It also provides a pressure drop to
generate uniform flow at the inlet. A honeycomb shaped panel and several sheets of screens are
installed in the settling chamber of the wind tunnel. The contraction section makes the air flow
more uniform and stable. A diffuser is placed downstream of the test section to prevent an
adverse pressure gradient. This is done by increasing the cross sectional area along the main flow
direction [3]. When the open suction type wind tunnel is used for calibration purposes, air in front
of the inlet section should be as dormant as possible [3].A baffle or a restraint can be installed at
the inlet section to prevent any flow disturbances at the inlet of the wind tunnel [3]. However, if
there are any fluctuations in the air at the inlet, a closed type wind tunnel can prevent this. In a
closed type wind tunnel, air is

Poverty In Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin In The Sun
The 1950 s economy and political laws constructs the African Americans lifestyle of poverty. The
Industrial Revolution proposes an opportunity for a better life and persuades blacks to move
North in clusters creating black communities. The injustice amongst blacks led to the mashing
of black communities which they call the projects. After a while whites seized the chance to
form their own community in the suburbs and collect most of the jobs in the city. Blacks suffer
because of this movement and are becoming even more poor and difficult to maintain a regular
life. Some blacks sought refuge by saving up all their money and making plans to move to the
suburbs. Eventually their ideas of moving to the suburbs becomes a conflict for whites who
disagrees with them. Many authors express their experience of living in the city during the 1950
s and the limitations that are present. Author Lorraine Hansberry illustrated the lifestyle of blacks
during these hard times by writing A Raisin in the Sun. Lorraine Hansberry is born May 19, 1930
in South Side Chicago to Nannie Perry Hansberry and Carl Augustus Hansberry. (chipublib pp.1)
Lorraine is surrounded by many great leaders for example her father a black bank owner, and her

That is, the idea that denser cities across the globe is an adequate solution to limiting fossil fuel

did the invasion of Iraq have other characteristics of liberalism? It can be deduce that the 2003
invasion of Iraq had distinctive characteristics of liberal internationalism. Therefore it is the purpose
of this essay to define liberal internationalism and provide an analytical reasoning for why the
invasion contended liberal internationalism principles. Liberal internationalism is defined as foreign
policy doctrine that supports one or more liberal states and its inclination to intervene in other
sovereign states domestic and international affairs.

Sustainable Development Of Private Enterprise
The primary objective of these two books is the sustainable development of private enterprise, and
despite fact that they have been in existence for a couple of years since production, the content and
key topics remain extremely pertinent to current arguments about sustainability of the environment,
and climatic change. The commitment made by the two books is best comprehended by viewing
them in connection to the idea of sustainable development.
The two books begin by a thought of sustainability that does not debilitate but rather is perfect and
well matched with capitalism, fully supports it and does not threat a wage labor scheme of
producing products for profit. According to John Ikerd s book Sustainable Capitalism: A Matter of
Common Sense tries to challenge, the inherent lack of sustainability in the neoclassical paradigm. It
also supports a new method for accomplishing maintainable capitalism. According to Ikerd (2005),
neoclassical economic matters are the reason behind the absence of sustainability in the United
States agricultural sector, and the broader American economy. Along these lines, he attempts to
build up other economics of sustainability in view of standards of living frameworks that are self
sufficient and fit for regeneration. Ikerd (2005) he claims that sustainability is considered to be the
most obvious aspect by those firmly associated with the earth (on the same page) for which, in his
view, he is appropriately qualified, having been brought up

The Movie The Joey Sat On The Tile Right
The Joey sat on the tile right by the warmth of the fire. He actually had a much longer history
with Genie, so he had been invited to the gathering and as it seemed he must have been on the
guest list expecting to arrive late. He had a subtlety macabre upbeat demeanor, with a sharp whit
that snapped stronger than the crackle from the fireplace. He demonstrated his problem solving
skills as he offered ideas and suggestions about the tire on the car while committing himself to
helping them once again in the Am. To my eye, The Joey looked like a snowboarder warming up
by the evening fire in a log cabin wearing thick warm felted wool. I stared at his olive skin tinting
from the fire that dancing on his face. As an artist I naturally scan people and objects with my
eyes until the whole picture is complete and clear in front of me. My investigation revealed his
woolen winter clothes with Teva style sandals and no socks. I laughed to myself, remember all
the times I bundled up for the cool and did not have the energy left to put on socks or wasn t
able to find any clean. I did not resist the urge to comment. The Joey was quick and quick witted.
He explained that he was dressed for winter everywhere else, so why would his feet be cold. I
have said this to others before. I was officially intrigued. There was a warm sensation in my
stomach, which had been so damp and cold since Mr. Wonderful departure. I didn t recognize it at

The Use of Technology in Both the Training Methods and Training Environment of Elite Athletes in
Global Sport
Technology is used to help advance elite athletes, by achieving the maximum for the individuals
needs. Both with the training methods and environments technology is being used more and more,
for example simulated competition environments.
Although such technology is becoming increasingly popular with elite athletes, the provision of it
depends very much on how much money is at the athlete s disposal. This could be personal/family
wealth or funding provided by a third party, such as lottery funding or government funding.
There may be such cases where the athlete is part of a national ... Show more content on

This replicates altitude training. Without the technology of hypoxic chambers it is still possible to
create the altitude atmosphere by training with a restricted breathing pattern (hypoxic training).
This can be an effective way of replication, but technology is still required to measure the carbon
dioxide levels in the alveoli air.
The sporting institutes also use technology to analyse performance statistics, such as, speed,
power, heart rate, blood lactate, oxygen uptake, flexibility, technique and aesthetics (for some
aesthetic based sports, ie dancing, ice dancing). An example of this is using video recording and
playback technology to record an athlete s performance so that it can be analysed during playback.
This can be used to fine tune technique, or to work on the aesthetic sides of the aesthetic based
sports.
Particularly in aesthetic based sports video is used during media broadcasts to show the public
snippets of competitors in slow motion. The clips are normally of a particular specified element.
More recently the judges in ice dancing have been using a system that provides each judge with a
computer screen and with this they can select the slow motion elements that they want to view
before giving their scores.
Another example of the analysis of performance statistics is the use of technology in computerised

I wish we could get up one day, summon everyone and say we ve cured the disease, but it s just

knowing they have a long journey ahead of them filled with trying times and dark days. To someone
facing this horrible disease the only comfort they have is the use of an outdated unsuccessful

Feminism In Pygmalion
Pygmalion
(...through a Feminist Lens)
Pygmalion was written to challenge the class system, traditional stereotypes and the audience s own
views.
To begin with, George Bernard Shaw was an early and outspoken advocate for the rights of
women, and as a playwright he created some of the most distinctive women characters of his day.
He was deeply influenced in this aspect of his writing by Henrik Ibsen.
This play deals with a lot many themes. To cite a few: Rewriting the tale of Cinderella and Sleeping
beauty, Class, language and phonetics and Independence.
From the very beginning of the play, we can see the unequal relationship between Mr. Higgins (the
man) and Eliza (the woman). This difference can be seen by the parallelism between these two ...

She retorts back by replying, You want me back only to pick up your slippers and put up with
your tempers and fetch and carry for you. Eliza is mere domestic helper for Higgins, a helping
hand to Mrs. Pearce even if Eliza can be much more than that. This is the crude reality of the
patriarchal setup. Women, how much ever is qualified, is better than the opposite genderwhen it
comes to education, the opposite sex will always take her as a house maid or a person working
under him.
Eliza, in the climax scene vulnerably asks Higgins, why he made her a sophisticated Duchess if
her never cared for her, and why did not he thought of the trouble it would make for her, on which
Higgins shocking reply says:
Would the world ever have been made if its makes had been afraid of making trouble? (Act V,
127) Making life means making troubles. He still finds faults with Eliza, you are an idiot I waste
the treasures of my Miltonic mind by spreading them before you. Higgins thus suffers from
intellectual snobbery. He belongs to the world of Shakespeare and Milton.
All throughout the play, Higgins behave rude with Eliza. Eliza, in the last act as a representative of
all women trapped in patriarchal setup says the below quote to Higgins, who is the representative
of all the patriarchal men in the

The Effects Of Fitness Training On Vo2 Max And Vco2 Max

The Effects of Fitness Training on VO2 max and VCO2 Max
Abstract:
Mammals consume oxygen and produce carbon dioxide as part of their metabolism process in
order to maintain body functions. This occurs at all times, both rest and during intense work, within
mammals. During times of greater work, skeletal muscles work harder than they do at rest. This in
turn increases their metabolic rate and results in a greater demand for oxygen. It has been proposed
that fitness training has a positive effect on both the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, which
effect the maximum oxygen consumption rate during intense exercise periods. I hypothesize that
individuals who aerobically exercise a minimum of at least 7 hours per week will have increased
fitness, which will maximize their overall metabolic rates and give them higher VO2 max and
VCO2 max values than individuals who do not have increased fitness. Ten males having different
fitness levels were put on stationary bikes at increasing levels until exhaustion and VO2 max and
VCO2 max was then measured from each individual. It was found that there was a slight upward
trend between fitness VO2max and fitness VCO2max, although this trend was not statistically
significant when represented by the T test values through statistical analysis. Further experiments
should be done in the future to verify a statistically significant correlation.

Plagiarism In College Essay
Plagiarism in College Writing Introduction Plagiarism occurs in many forms. Self plagiarism and
inadvertent plagiarism are two forms of plagiarism. Students plagiarize for many reasons. Self
plagiarism is a form of plagiarism that is difficult to detect and often over looked. Inadvertent
plagiarism is often caused by sloppy work and poor citation preparation skills. Proper education
and practicing citations along with the use of online tools will assist the student in preparing
citations. Self plagiarism Self plagiarism is perhaps one of the most common but most overlooked
forms of plagiarism. Simply put, self plagiarism involves the handing in of the same work for more
than one assignment (MacDonell,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To avoid inadvertent plagiarism students should learn and practice these skills until they are
second nature. Conclusion Avoiding plagiarism in academic writing is something that must be
taken seriously by both faculty and students. Many online tools exist that can be used to avoid
plagiarism, both for the student and the faculty member. As simple as plagiarism is to do,
plagiarizing is just as easy to get caught. Students who resort to plagiarism during their college
years do so to due to laziness or even poor time management. All this is being done when the
students should be trying to learn to be better writers. But by plagiarizing they are only hurting
themselves, when they will not be able to write successfully a paper of any kind when asked to
do so. Learning to be a successful writer is a crucial part of the college experience. Students who
do not learn to become effective writers will feel the effects of this after they finish college and
enter the working world. Graduates will soon learn and wish that they had taken the time to build
their writing skills while in school. Becoming an effective writer and avoiding plagiarism is
sometimes a difficult task. The rewards in the end can be very fruitful. Businesses often call upon
employees to use their college writing skills on a daily basis. The Owl at Purdue states Give credit

A report published in 2008 titled Transit Co operation Research Program (TCRP) synthesis 78
based on the survey responses provided by 94 educational institutions revealed some facts about the
transit systems in college and universities (TRB, 2008). The most of the survey respondents were
from four year universities. All of the universities indicated that they have either self operated
transit system or a public transportation office operated transit system to serve the campus
communities. The most of the respondents agreed that the headway was less than 10 minutes for
these transit stations in the college. The report showed that 29 transit systems charged no busfare for
students and 26 transit systems charged $1.00 to $1.50 per local bus ride. However, majority of
shuttle services for on campus circulation were offered free to ride. Another interesting fact
mentioned in the report was that around 60% of the universities utilized remote park and ride
services. The report revealed the fact that many institutions were found to be charging low parking
prices to their staffs and faculties. Nine institutions reported to have annual parking fee less than
$100. The report also mentioned that this reduced parking price was not supporting the concept of
reducing the number of single occupant vehicle (SOV). The report recommended for conducting

Celebrity and media culture are probably the most overbearing pop culture conditions that we as
young people have to deal with, because it forces us to judge ourselves. Lady Gaga perfectly
describes the corrupt system of celebrity culture. Fame and celebrity culture is nothing new to
human nature. As humans progressed from hunting and gathering, people who have been skilled in

unhealthy distraction that undermines public discourse and sidetracks people from far more
important issues. Celebrities are exploited as products to society, set an unrealistic standard of

Oil Sand Industry Analysis
Almost every Canadian residing within this province could visibly see the relationship between
our economy and the energy industry, specifically the oil sands. The growth of this province is
mainly correlated with the development that we have seen with the Alberta oil sand operations.
As the oil prices rise during the bull cycle, the province becomes prosperous, providing jobs,
opportunities, and funding for a variety of social programs. However, as the oil prices tumble
during the bust cycle, we start to see how intertwined our economy really is with the energy
industry. The oil sandsis an economic driver that not only provides direct jobs for many, but in
addition provides many indirect jobs as well. Revenue from the sale of oil has assisted in the
development and continued funding for many infrastructure projects and social programs not only
for the province of Alberta, but for the rest of the Canadian provinces as well. Simply stated, we

Argumentative Essay On Autism
Giving a speech in front of classmates. Hugging a best friend after a rough day. Changing up the
daily routine at school. These are a few examples of activities most Autistic children consider as
their worst nightmare. Even though a child with Autism could be, and probably is, brilliant, they
find themselves trapped inside. The Autistic Spectrum Disorder, universally known as Autism, is a
disease that causes a child to face mental, physical, and emotional challenges.
A wealth of new brain research is lifting the veil on Autism and revealing its effects on a child`s
mind (Cray and Wallis 43). Neuroscientist Eric Courchesne at Children`s Hospital of San Diego
revealed that while children with autism are born with ordinary size brains, they experience a
rapid expansion by age two (Cray and Wallis 45). Much of this growth is due to the excessive
amount of white matter, the nerve fibers that link different areas of the brain. The abundance of
white matter has led doctors to believe Autism to be a problem with the way the brain is wired.
Marcel Just, director of Carnegie Mellon`s Center for Cognitive Brain Imaging in Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania, wrote that there is a lack of synchronization between the different areas of the brain
(Cray and Wallis 46). Local areas of the brain, such as the frontal lobes and the amygdala, are over
connected while links between more distant regions, such as the right and left hemispheres, are
poorly connected. One area of the Autistic brain that is enlarged is the amygdala. The amygdala`s
job is to assess threats in the environment or in emotional and social behavior. It could be enlarged
due to the fact that autistic children maintain a high level of anxiety when having to relate to other
people. Another enlarged area of the autistic brain is the hippocampus, an area vital to memory.
Doctors believe the hippocampus is enlarged because an autistic child relies on memory to process
and interpret situations that most people interpret in a different area of the brain. Researchers have
also discovered that autistic brains have chronic inflammation. Amidst these issues Autistic people
have learned to adapt and use their brains in unusual ways. For example, they memorize the

How Contextualism Can Be Used to Disregard Skepticism
Contextualism today, is defined as the truth of a particular knowledge ascription dependent on the
context in which that truth is uttered. Over the past century and decades there have been many
great debates between philosopher s over contextualism and how it can be used to disregard
Skepticism. I agree with Cohen s defense of Contextualism in regard s to both how he answers
Skepticismand Conee s objections. Cohen starts off his defense of Contextualism by first
explaining the skeptical paradox. The skeptical paradox here is the paradox that Cohen sees
between Skepticism and Contextualism Cohen argues that he does see conflict in the paradox, as
all the terms can be true dependent on the context in which it is used. The skeptical... Show more

This brings Cohen to the question the fact that in our minds already determining that such strict
skeptical standards don t exist is incorrect as in most cases they can. In essence they are intuitive
judgments, and we can control those judgments. Consequently, this leads Cohen to state that we as
individuals do not know whether our intuitive skeptical judgments are made on correct/false
inquiries about skeptical claims. Cohen describes that even if there is such a correct theory that
our skeptical judgments are correct the question still to be asked/answered is why we have those
intuitions and where such intuitions stem from. It is only then according to Cohen that we may
find a rational answer as a resolution to that paradox. This argument put forth by Cohen takes into
account the varied applications that we don t see in everyday common sense claims. The fact that
Cohen believes that stricter standards can still be applied shows to us that it doesn t depend on the
claim and that almost every claim can be with held to that higher standard of knowledge. To
already presume something to a have lower knowledge standard is something that could be
changed when brought into conversation with individuals who question matter inherently before it
can be passed down as knowledge. In simpler words it doesn t matter what the claim is a stricter
skeptical standard can always be applied. Another objection

The Pharmacy and Terminology Quiz
I will reflect on pharmacy and terminology quizzes in my LANC2035 class section 10. I did the
quiz in Language Center, Lab 5 on Tuesday at 8:00 to 8:30 a.m. which the time of this quiz is
half hour also it need code to start answering. All of them it worries me before I started. When I
do the quiz, I get 50% of the total quiz mark, although I was studying hard and I finished the study

Meanwhile, the notion of the nation was introduced to Europe in a powerful way during the Revolution and the subsequent Napoleonic period (xxx, xxx). After Napoleon was finally subdued, European monarchs and their representatives assembled in Vienna to chart a more peaceful order for themselves (xxx, xxx). The inconsistencies in the implementation even partly contributed to the outbreak of the Second World War (xxx, xxx). The European powers mobilized their African subjects with propaganda vilifying the racial supremacist ideology of the Fascist powers. This set in motion a process in which Fascist nationalism produced the opposed reality of anti Fascism; and anti Fascism became antiracism; and antiracism led in due course to an end of colonization (Davidson, 1992). The result was the erasure of European colonial rule from large swathes of the African continent within a relatively short period of time (xxx, xxx). Consequently, this led to the development of a decolonized version of the self determination concept. The decolonization version of self determination was based on the following three principles: i) all dependent peoples are entitled to freedom; ii) the peoples so entitled are defined in terms of the existing colonial territories, each of which contains a nation; and iii) once such a people has come to independence, no residual right of self determination remains with any group within it or cutting across its frontiers (Emerson 1964). This version of self determination had numerous implications. The concerned entities often did not find it necessary to demonstrate effective legitimate authority to gain and ... • 9. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak Adversity is a large factor in the shaping process of one s character development, but it always varies from person to person. In his novel The Book Thief, Markus Zusak integrates adversity into the lives of his characters through the political struggles during the era of World War II, to ultimately shape their personal character and identity. The development by adversity is demonstrated largely through three different characters: Liesel Meminger, Hans Hubermann, and Max Vandenberg. Liesel Meminger faces a couple accounts of hardships, or adversities, before even arriving at the doorstep of her foster parents Rosa and Hans Hubermann. In the fifth chapter of The Book Thief, Liesel s brother dies directly in front of her own eyes, resulting in endless dreams every night about her brother, always ending in his death; this also creates pathos for the reader because Liesel s pain and agony is visible every single day, but is being used to strengthen her relationship with her foster father, Hans ( Papa ). Another factor in the development of Hans and Liesel s relationship is the loss of Liesel s mother. A loss usually signifies a death, but in Liesel s case, it signifies her mother leaving and never to answer the letters that are continuously sent to her. Hans Hubermann has a soft and docile character, and is not only used to comfort Liesel after her nightmares, but to become the parent figure that Liesel craves as a young 10 year old girl, especially after losing her entire ... An example of a simplex transmission would be the alarm codes that are sent to officials at a burglar alarm company. A half duplex transmission can send a signal and then receive a signal, but cannot send and receive at the same time. An example would be a CB radio that can send a message, and then listen for the response. A duplex data transmission is capable of sending and receiving data at the same time. A telephone line is an example of a full duplex transmission system. (Eserver, 2004) Serial and parallel transmission Serial transmission is the consecutive transmission of the signal. The characters are transmitted in a sequence over a single line, rather than simultaneously over two or more lines, as in parallel transmission. Parallel transmission are packets of data sent at the same time, usually over more than one transmission line. This results in faster transmission of data. The pieces are both sculptures, Violet Persian Set with Red Lip Wraps by Dale Chihuly and Nefertiti by Wendall Castle. The theme of the exhibition will be about the reimagining of the exotic female form through abstract sculpturespecifically, in the round, free standing sculptures. Both Chihuly s piece as well as Castle s fit this theme as they depict abstract forms that can be interpreted as feminine. However, the pieces look radically different from one another and are fairly abstract. One sculpture shows a strong and regal womanly form while the other could be interpreted as the exact opposite. Both sculpture s in the exhibition can also be seen as being inspired by the exotic and romanticized past. At a glance, Violet Persian set with red lip wraps is a very abstract form with many different parts and pieces. There are coneshapes wrapped in thin waved sheets of blown glass. • 14. Ottoman And Italian Charity And Charity According to Skocpol and Somers, one of the major uses of comparative history is to make observations about institutions and structures and how they develop in different nations. Now when one thinks about points of comparison, they probably think about broad categories like religion, the state, etc., these are all obvious categories for comparative history, a less obvious topic however, is poor relief and charity. How to deal with the poor (in this case, orphans, those out of work, the sick, etc.) is an almost universal problem that every state or polity in the early modern Mediterranean had to address in some form or another. This makes poor relief and charity a prime candidate for comparison. For example, take the Italian states and the Ottoman Empire. On the surface, you can find vast differences between the two, Italian city states were Christian and were often individual cities that were independent of each other; meanwhile the Ottoman Empire was a vast, Muslim state compromising large amounts of territory. Despite these differences, one can find similarities in regards to how charity and poor relief were handled. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. Low-speed Circulating Wind Tunnels Essay Introduction When a viscous fluid flows along a fixed impermeable wall, or past the rigid surface of an immersed body, an essential condition is that a velocity at any point on the wall or other fixed surface is zero. To the extent to which the condition modifies the general character of the flow is dependent on the viscosity of the fluid. If a body has a streamlined shape and the fluid flowing over the body has a small viscosity that is not negligible, the modifying effect appears to be confined to the narrowest regions adjacent to the solid surfaces; these are called boundary layers. Within these layers, there is a rapid change in velocity which gives rise to a large velocity gradient normal to the boundary which produces a shear stress... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the medium air speed wind tunnels where wind speed ranges from 1.5 40m/s, several types of wind tunnels can be applied. At first, an open suction type wind tunnel can have a large test section with high contraction ratio [3]. This type of wind tunnel has a large inlet area to take motionless air to the test section. Air filters can be installed before the inlet to prevent any dust from entering the test section and disturbing the air flow [3]. It also provides a pressure drop to generate uniform flow at the inlet. A honeycomb shaped panel and several sheets of screens are installed in the settling chamber of the wind tunnel. The contraction section makes the air flow more uniform and stable. A diffuser is placed downstream of the test section to prevent an adverse pressure gradient. This is done by increasing the cross sectional area along the main flow direction [3]. When the open suction type wind tunnel is used for calibration purposes, air in front of the inlet section should be as dormant as possible [3].A baffle or a restraint can be installed at the inlet section to prevent any flow disturbances at the inlet of the wind tunnel [3]. However, if there are any fluctuations in the air at the inlet, a closed type wind tunnel can prevent this. In a closed type wind tunnel, air is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Poverty In Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin In The Sun The 1950 s economy and political laws constructs the African Americans lifestyle of poverty. The Industrial Revolution proposes an opportunity for a better life and persuades blacks to move North in clusters creating black communities. The injustice amongst blacks led to the mashing of black communities which they call the projects. After a while whites seized the chance to form their own community in the suburbs and collect most of the jobs in the city. Blacks suffer because of this movement and are becoming even more poor and difficult to maintain a regular life. Some blacks sought refuge by saving up all their money and making plans to move to the suburbs. Eventually their ideas of moving to the suburbs becomes a conflict for whites who disagrees with them. Many authors express their experience of living in the city during the 1950 s and the limitations that are present. Author Lorraine Hansberry illustrated the lifestyle of blacks during these hard times by writing A Raisin in the Sun. Sustainable Development Of Private Enterprise The primary objective of these two books is the sustainable development of private enterprise, and despite fact that they have been in existence for a couple of years since production, the content and key topics remain extremely pertinent to current arguments about sustainability of the environment, and climatic change. The commitment made by the two books is best comprehended by viewing them in connection to the idea of sustainable development. The two books begin by a thought of sustainability that does not debilitate but rather is perfect and well matched with capitalism, fully supports it and does not threat a wage labor scheme of producing products for profit. According to John Ikerd s book Sustainable Capitalism: A Matter of Common Sense tries to challenge, the inherent lack of sustainability in the neoclassical paradigm. It also supports a new method for accomplishing maintainable capitalism. According to Ikerd (2005), neoclassical economic matters are the reason behind the absence of sustainability in the United States agricultural sector, and the broader American economy. Along these lines, he attempts to build up other economics of sustainability in view of standards of living frameworks that are self sufficient and fit for regeneration. Ikerd (2005) he claims that sustainability is considered to be the most obvious aspect by those firmly associated with the earth (on the same page) for which, in his view, he is appropriately qualified, having been brought up ... The sporting institutes also use technology to analyse performance statistics, such as, speed, power, heart rate, blood lactate, oxygen uptake, flexibility, technique and aesthetics (for some aesthetic based sports, ie dancing, ice dancing). • 34. The Effects Of Fitness Training On Vo2 Max And Vco2 Max Bryanna Ward #21421728 The Effects of Fitness Training on VO2 max and VCO2 Max Abstract: Mammals consume oxygen and produce carbon dioxide as part of their metabolism process in order to maintain body functions. This occurs at all times, both rest and during intense work, within mammals. During times of greater work, skeletal muscles work harder than they do at rest. This in turn increases their metabolic rate and results in a greater demand for oxygen. It has been proposed that fitness training has a positive effect on both the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, which effect the maximum oxygen consumption rate during intense exercise periods. I hypothesize that individuals who aerobically exercise a minimum of at least 7 hours per week will have increased fitness, which will maximize their overall metabolic rates and give them higher VO2 max and VCO2 max values than individuals who do not have increased fitness. Ten males having different fitness levels were put on stationary bikes at increasing levels until exhaustion and VO2 max and VCO2 max was then measured from each individual. It was found that there was a slight upward trend between fitness VO2max and fitness VCO2max, although this trend was not statistically significant when represented by the T test values through statistical analysis. Further experiments should be done in the future to verify a statistically significant correlation. Introduction: The Human body requires a constant supply of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These are a few examples of activities most Autistic children consider as their worst nightmare. Even though a child with Autism could be, and probably is, brilliant, they find themselves trapped inside. The Autistic Spectrum Disorder, universally known as Autism, is a disease that causes a child to face mental, physical, and emotional challenges. A wealth of new brain research is lifting the veil on Autism and revealing its effects on a child`s mind (Cray and Wallis 43). Neuroscientist Eric Courchesne at Children`s Hospital of San Diego revealed that while children with autism are born with ordinary size brains, they experience a rapid expansion by age two (Cray and Wallis 45). Much of this growth is due to the excessive amount of white matter, the nerve fibers that link different areas of the brain. The abundance of white matter has led doctors to believe Autism to be a problem with the way the brain is wired. Marcel Just, director of Carnegie Mellon`s Center for Cognitive Brain Imaging in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, wrote that there is a lack of synchronization between the different areas of the brain (Cray and Wallis 46). Local areas of the brain, such as the frontal lobes and the amygdala, are over connected while links between more distant regions, such as the right and left hemispheres, are poorly connected. One area of the Autistic brain that is enlarged is the amygdala. The amygdala`s job is to assess threats in the environment or in emotional and social behavior. It could be enlarged due to the fact that autistic children maintain a high level of anxiety when having to relate to other people. Another enlarged area of the autistic brain is the hippocampus, an area vital to memory. Doctors believe the hippocampus is enlarged because an autistic child relies on memory to process and interpret situations that most people interpret in a different area of the brain. Researchers have also discovered that autistic brains have chronic inflammation. Amidst these issues Autistic people have learned to adapt and use their brains in unusual ways. For example, they memorize the alphabet in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How Contextualism Can Be Used to Disregard Skepticism Contextualism today, is defined as the truth of a particular knowledge ascription dependent on the context in which that truth is uttered. Over the past century and decades there have been many great debates between philosopher s over contextualism and how it can be used to disregard Skepticism. I agree with Cohen s defense of Contextualism in regard s to both how he answers Skepticismand Conee s objections. Cohen starts off his defense of Contextualism by first explaining the skeptical paradox. The skeptical paradox here is the paradox that Cohen sees between Skepticism and Contextualism Cohen argues that he does see conflict in the paradox, as all the terms can be true dependent on the context in which it is used. The skeptical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This brings Cohen to the question the fact that in our minds already determining that such strict skeptical standards don t exist is incorrect as in most cases they can. In essence they are intuitive judgments, and we can control those judgments. Consequently, this leads Cohen to state that we as individuals do not know whether our intuitive skeptical judgments are made on correct/false inquiries about skeptical claims. Cohen describes that even if there is such a correct theory that our skeptical judgments are correct the question still to be asked/answered is why we have those intuitions and where such intuitions stem from. It is only then according to Cohen that we may find a rational answer as a resolution to that paradox. This argument put forth by Cohen takes into account the varied applications that we don t see in everyday common sense claims. The fact that Cohen believes that stricter standards can still be applied shows to us that it doesn t depend on the claim and that almost every claim can be with held to that higher standard of knowledge. To already presume something to a have lower knowledge standard is something that could be changed when brought into conversation with individuals who question matter inherently before it can be passed down as knowledge. In simpler words it doesn t matter what the claim is a stricter skeptical standard can always be applied. Another objection ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
