The Universe and It’s Phenomena
The Universe and It s Phenomena The universe is an unknown place. Most of it has not been explored.
Some things are known, however. Scientists know a lot about things like the Big Bang and our
Asteroid Belt. Some of the universe s natural phenomenons are yet to be discovered. This article will
explain some of them and why they happen. In the year 1929, Edwin Hubble made a revolutionary
discovery. He learned that the universe is expanding. He saw that the galaxies were each moving away
from us. Edwin knew that for one instance of time, almost 14 billion years ago, all of the mass of the
universe was contained in a single spot. There had to have been a huge explosion that pushed all the
matter away. This explosion is known as the Big Bang Theory. (www.science.nasa.gov) NASA is now
monitoring the expansion of the universe in spacecraft such as the Hubble Space Telescope and
Spitzer Space Telescope. A goal of these telescopes is to decide if the universe will expand forever, or
if it will go backwards and return to the original spot of the universe. (www.science.nasa.gov) What
did the universe look like when it was born? To certain theories, if we went back and watched the Big
Bang, we would see ... a sea of neutrons, protons, electrons, anti electrons (positrons), photons, and
neutrons (www.science.nasa.gov.) With time, the universe would cool and neutrons would either
decay or combine with other things. The universe would look opaque. This is because

Marketing Development Of The Luxury Goods Industry
1. 2.2.4 Regional feature
In the luxury goods industry, the rapid development has brought the market more brands and the latest
design products. Industry matures has caused the accelerated development of a wide range of luxury
goods (Chiari, 2009). However, one thing was constant, no matter how much increased production
costs, the large luxury brand of origin will not be transfer. Long cultural history is an integral part of
the luxury brand, and the origin of products have also brought a certain cultural value for luxury goods
(Heine, 2012).Especially for Asian consumers, it seems that in the far west, craft superb tailoring and
rich cultural history of the western area are the pursue of Chinese consumers (Sombart, 2001).Louis
Vuitton s president has said that (2013), when customers buy our products, they expect Western
quality. The mystery of the origin of our brand is closely linked with our brand . Although with the
close of trade, many luxury goods in the production and sales process will cooperation with other
country s companies, the final product definitely launch in the country of origin. Gucci is a legendary
brand in Florence (Italy), and it will also strictly control the production done in Tuscany (Italy), to
ensure pure and high quality products (Gucci, 2015). Therefore, a regional feature has brought an
intangible value and more local cultural characteristics to the luxury goods.

he is. Do you want to find out read about him and say your opinion on what you think about him, Jerry
Rice played for San Francisco 49ers, Oakland Raiders, and the Seattle Seahawks Rice was born
October 13th 1962? He was an average wide receiver size seeing as he was six foot two inches. Jerry
was very fast he ran the 40 yard dash in only 4.71 seconds. Rice wore number 80 because it was
retired and the retired football player wanted him to play with his number and Rice was okay with the
number 80. Rice is just like any other receiver but he had heart and also gave it from time to time so

Religious Rights And Gay Rights
As stated directly in the Constitution, Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of
religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof... This means that one cannot be discriminated on the
basis of religion. In recent years, religious rights and gay rights have become tied together due to the
fact that some feel sexual orientation ties into religious beliefs. There are some people who are in
agree with same sex marriage, while there are some that oppose it. It is stated that in The Atlantic
article that, In certain cases, extending new rights to LBGT workers will necessarily lead to religious
freedom objections, and vice versa. No matter what side you agree with in the controversy of same sex
marriages, it is important to remember that the Constitution states, all men are created equal , therefore
we must handle this controversy in a way that everyone is treated equaled in the eyes of the law.
Girgis and Anderson, the writers of What is Marriage? Man and Woman: A Defense, are against same
sex marriages. Their view on same sex marriage is considered traditional. The framework that Girgis
and Anderson erect for for approaching questions of religious liberty is that when analyzing claims
based on theoretical accounts of the values served by religious liberty and antidiscrimination we can
achieve win win outcomes by respecting the moral and religious liberty claims in the debate without
undoing anyone s legitimate policy goals. Personally, I disagree

How Did Werner Heisenberg Change The World
Werner Heisenberg was a great physicist, but did he really change the world? Werner Heisenberg was
a German physicist and a key pioneer of mechanics. He played an important part in planning the first
West German nuclear reactor. He continued his work on atomic research through World War II.
Werner Heisenberg was born in Würzburg, Germany, 1901. During school he studied physics and
mathematics in college. He finished college during 1923. He completed his Habilitation in 1924, at
Göttingen. In 1937 Heisenberg married Elisabeth Schumacher. They have seven children, and live in
Munich. In 1927, Heisenberg was appointed ordentlicher Professor of theoretical physics and head of
the department of physics. During the same year he published the Uncertainty Principle , which he
built his philosophy and for which he is best known. After the discovery of the neutron in 1932,
Heisenberg submitted one paper on his neutron proton model of the nucleus. That paper awarded him
the Nobel Peace Prize in Physics during 1932. After Hitler took power, Heisenberg was called a White
Jew by the press. Once the word got out, he was brought ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Pregnancy Discrimination Act Summary
The Pregnancy Discrimination Act is designed to protect employees from any type of discrimination
which includes hiring, promotions, job responsibilities, layoffs, benefits, and any other terms of
employment. Employers are required by law to provide accommodations to women experiencing a
medical condition related to the pregnancy that stops them from performing their usual job
responsibilities. The Pregnancy Discrimination Act amended Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964
that prohibits sex discrimination on the basis of pregnancy. This act also covers childbirth and related
medical conditions. By law, pregnancy is considered to be a temporary disability and pregnant
employees must be reasonably accommodated and treated by employers as ... Show more content on

These guidelines were not laws and were aimed at aiding employers and employees in making policies
and identifying discrimination. These were highly indicative of how the EEOC was inclined to rule on
disputes brought to the agency. The EEOC Enforcement Guidance provides clarification on important
issues within the Pregnancy Discrimination Act. Specifically:
1. The Pregnancy Discrimination Act protects employees from discrimination based on current
pregnancy, past pregnancy, as well as potential or planned pregnancy. Employers cannot refuse to hire,
fire, or discriminate against employees who are currently pregnant or have the potential to be
pregnant. The PDA protects past pregnancies by providing protection to employees who may be fired
after pregnancy and the action was motivated by some factor that occurred when the employee was
pregnant and being accommodated by the employer. PDA still applies even though the employee is
not pregnant at the time of firing.
2. The EEOC states that an employer cannot force a pregnant employee to take leave nor can they
reassign the worker to a different position even though they feel it is in the best interest of the

College Budgeting In College
Budgeting can be very difficult, nevertheless for college students, so I will be explaining how to
budget in college by making smart decisions. A college education is probably one of the most
expensive purchases a young adult will most likely ever purchase in their lifetime. College can be very
expensive as a consequence tuition can range anywhere from 10,000 to 70,000 a year. Nearly all
college students pay for college by a college fund, scholarship/grants, out of their own or parent s
pocket or borrowed money. Despite the fact some of those payments aren t directly coming from the
student it is more than likely that they still don t have a stable income to provide themselves with basic
necessities. Most colleges don t provide students with basic necessities which means they acquire to
go out and obtain everything needed as far as food, supplies, books, also toiletries. The average
college student spends anywhere from $200 $700 a month on just the articles they need. While on
articles they want they spend anywhere from $20 $200. More than likely that most college students
don t work, notwithstanding first year students and athletes, which is a large population of the school
anyway. Today most students aren t obtaining a stable cash flow and even the ones who are from
allowances or a job tend to still most likely struggle with budgeting. Budgeting can be a very difficult
task even for adults or people making a substantial amount of money, but it s not impossible if

The Lion And The Mouse Analysis
A famous person once said Judging a person doesn t define who they are. It defines who YOU are.
Don t judge someone by how they look comes out in both of the stories The Lion and the Mouse by
Rob John and Wonder by R.J Palacio. Both of the stories have characters that are different from
others. Both of the characters get judged, but are very helpful in the end. Never judge someone by
their looks is very important in The Lion and the Mouse. In the beginning, the lion new he was big
and strong and the mouse was little and weak. So, he thought he would eat the mouse just because of
that, he never even new the mouse. The lion overlooked the mouse and didn t get to know him. In the
middle, the lion said You? How could a tiny mouse help a huge lion like me..? The lion judged the
mouse and thought that because the mouse was small he couldn t do anything. No matter what your
size you can always be helpful in some way. Towards the end, even the though the lion thought the
little mouse was worthless, he actually saved his life when he chewed through a hunter s net that the
lion was trapped in. The mouse didn t let there differences get in the way of being nice. People that are

someday it will help him and the lion doesn t believe a tiny mouse can help a big lion like him. Then,
the lion gets caught in a hunter s net and the little mouse comes to save him by chewing through the
ropes. However, Wonder is a chapter book so it teaches us not to judge in a longer way. A boy named
August has a face that looks very different. There are lots of challenges and lots of people judge him
because he is really different. Not judging people will make a huge difference in the world. Will you

The Final Stage Of Management Design
Control is the final stage of management design, making sure the specific goals and objectives of the
team is met by all those who are placed within the organization to complete specific task. It is at this
stage that all members must perform the work that is within the organizations scope of business.
Controls can be strong and visible, such as are needed in a maximum security prison, or they can be
more relaxed and invisible, such as are needed in a group of volunteers working at the local food
bank. The four steps in the process of control in the Mainstream and Multistream managerial
processes according to Nuebert Dyck 2010 are Establishing Performance Standards, Monitoring
Performance, Evaluating Performance, and Responding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This process is helpful in identifying needed changes in the input and conversion stage to maintain
quality products Mainstream managers are interested in high quality products at the lowest
productivity cost possible while maintaining good relations and organizational wealth (Nuebert Dyck
2010). In the Multistream approach managers use a value loop which helps to identify key
performance standards. Multistream process standards are used not targets like the Mainstream
manager. The Mulitistream manager uses the information system to help enhance, process, share, and
self monitor the dada. Rather than use a Top down approach the Multisystem manager is going to
expect that other help in these processes rather than have it trickle down hill effect and emphasizes
balancing multiple forms of well being for multiple stakeholders (Nuebert Dyck 2010). Nuebert Dyck
in 2010 describe the Multistream approach to the four step control process as looking at and
establishing standards in the value chains rather than value loops. The goal is to incorporate all
stakeholders goals however much of the time they are able to foresee potential delinks and the
potential un connectivity of those chains (p556). The Mainstream focus on controlling their employee
from top to bottom, the Multistream organizations focus on creating a system that allows the
stakeholders to

The Eureka Stockade
The eureka stockade... It is defined by many as the beginning of Australia. This historical event has
influenced every person, in that it changed our country s legal system for the better, into the
democracy we know today. For this reason, a documentary needs to be made about the struggles and
journey that these noble diggers went through, to improve the lives of everyone.
The Gold rush that took place in Ballarat, Victoria brought with it much conflict. The Eureka stockade
was a battle between the government and the troops that took place in 1854. Although the battle took
place on December 3rd, the events that led to it, happened during that year. The outrage first started
when Governor Hotham came to power and set up weekly licence checks and increased the price of
licences in order to make money for himself and relieve the debt of the colony. Over months the
licence checks became more frequent and the police became brutal in order to collect owed fees. On
October 7th 1854 digger James Scobie was murdered and his suspected murderer James Bentley was
acquitted due to his friendship with the judge. This made the miners angrier, and on 17th October
10,000 diggers got together and burnt down the Eureka hotel in protest. With no action from
government authorities being taken to improve the conditions, the miners formed the Ballarat Reform
league at Bakery Hill. It was here on November 11th that the miners first developed the rights and
demands that they would fight for. On

suffering. I personally think that the Four Noble Truths represent a good approach to life because
human suffering comes from the choices we make in life and how we choose to live. The Four Noble

There is no self separable form a non self. In the West this is misunderstood because the meaning of
self is not an essence or entity, is taken as self does not exist at all by people who have not imagined
any to his/her scheme of existence than entities. Traditional Western concept of self believe that every
person is entitled to one, and that it it s the self which acts or experiences. The notion of self
contributes to the suffering of human beings in that human project reality onto an illusory Ego for the
purpose of gratification. The misery of life is cause by self centeredness and the constant desire to
satisfy one s own needs. With that being said ego desire is the very root of all evil, including greed,
lust, hatred, lying, deceit, and crime. Eliminating the ego puts an end to unhappiness. Self
concentration does not allow the pursuit of truth and righteousness. Also, one s addictions contributes
to the suffering of humans in that it sets people for self destruction. Such addictions cause people to
lose everything that is significant to them which leads to suffering. People are free to make choices but

What Are The Major Inventions Of Ancient China
There were several important inventions during medieval times in Ancient China, but there were three
key inventions that advanced Chinese culture. China is very popular when it comes to inventing, and
making items that help make life easier, so it s not surprising when you hear of China inventing
something new. Those three inventions were, the umbrella, compass, and the moveable type printing
technique. By researching Chinese culture, I found that these three inventions, helped the Chinese
culture advance in many ways. The Umbrella, was invented by a man named Lu Ban, in the 1400 s.
He made the umbrella by making a flexible framework, covered by a cloth. The umbrella helped the

Comparing the Attitudes Demonstrated between Pre-War and...
Comparing the Attitudes Demonstrated between Pre War and at War with Brooke s Poem The Soldier
and Owen s Poem Dulce et Decorum est Dulce et Decorum Est was written at war in 1917 by an
English poet and World War I soldier Wilfred Owen. Dulce et decorum est is written in a very bitter
manner, by a man who had very strong anti war sentiments. The 27 line poem, written loosely in
iambic pentameter is told from the eyes of Wilfred Owen. The opening line of this poem contains two
similes which compares the soldiers to beggars and hags bent double, like old beggars under sacks ,
coughing like hags. This is not how we would portray young, fit, soldiers, but the fact of the matter is

and disabled we come to the fact that their youth was stolen, and we are also confronted with the
concept that they are innocent victims within the war. But someone still was yelling out and stumbling
this is the line where Owen begins his vivid description of a gas attack death. It is introducing us to the
situation this soldier is in from a third person view. The next line; And flound ring like a man in fire of
lime describes the helplessness of this poor soldier who is about to die. The image of the man
guttering, choking, drowning permeates Owen s thoughts and dreams, forcing him to live this
grotesque nightmare over and over again. The word Dim in the next line has a lot of significance and
meaning. Firstly it describes the scene, the light, giving it an eerie and gloomy feel, one with little
hope. Secondly, it describes the chances this soldier has, having shown us that war can be left up to
chance, Owen is describing the chances this boy now has for survival. I saw him drowning , shows
that Owen directly refers to himself. This is to personify the entire poem, to make it much more real to
the reader. It is showing us that all the horrors Owen has described are

Analysis Of The Article The Pelican Brief
The Wetlands In Grisham s novel, The Pelican Brief, he presents a case where an organization
attempts to protect the coastal marshes of Louisiana against the selfish oil companies and citizens that
wish to destroy it for money. This is a tremendous concern that people deal with in America. John
Grisham wrote The Pelican Brief, in 1992 and it was one of his best selling books. Louisiana s
marshes are being destroyed and are suffering greatly because of humans. Grisham shows extensive
knowledge of the wetlands as well as the wildlife through discussing the endangered Brown Pelican
and how humans have brought it to the brink of extinction. Numberless amounts of waterfowl, birds,
and countless species that call Louisiana home are now being terrorized thanks to non native species,
humans and a numerous amount of different causes. The Brown Pelican, Louisiana s state bird, has
been endangered until 1995, and about half of all the geese in North America spend the winter in the
coastal marshes (Elliott, Charles). Additionally, Louisiana is the leading state for the number of
wintering ducks (¨SGP¨). The marshes are extremely important to the fowl that live there year round
and for the ones that do not. The Bobwhite Quail, that live there year round, have suffered huge losses
to their population. From 1966 they have declined 75%, primarily due to habitat degradation (¨SGP¨).
One of the reasons populations of fowl have been going down is the result of invasive species. The

The Impact Of Introducing Assisted Dying Into English Law
Critically discuss the impact of introducing assisted dying into English Law. Introduction Dignity in
Dying is a national campaign and membership organisation, advocating a change in the law on
assisted dying. A change to the existing law would allow terminally ill people who are considered
mentally competent to decide when to end their lives. Essentially, this would mean that a dying patient
would be able to request life ending medication from their doctor, thus enabling them to make a
decision when and how they would die. Lord Falconer s Assisted Dying Bill was presented to the
House of Lords last year but was not passed in time for the General Election in May 2015. A Bill is a
proposal for a new law, or to amend an existing law. Bill s are presented to and debated by Parliament,
which is made up of the House of Commons and the House of Lords. In June 2015 Rob Marris MP
tabled a Private member s Bill in the house of commons. The Bill is essentially the same as the
Assisted Dying Bill submitted by Lord Falconer. The Bill includes a safeguarding framework to
ensure that a person has a voluntary, clear, settled and informed wish to end his or her life and that the
person is terminally ill and is reasonably expected to die within 6 months. Dignity in Dying suggest a
change in the law in assisted dying would not lead to more deaths, but it would empower those
suffering from a terminal illness to decide when to end their lives. The purpose of this essay is to

Great Lakes Water Quality Essay
Water quality in the Great Lakes is something that has been a criticall issue in the Great Lakes Region
for a number of years. Water quality can be anything that affects the benefits humans derives from
water. It can include drinking water, food, recreation, and any other use of water that is possible. Many
invasive species including zebra mussels and Asian carp pose a great threat to the water quality of the
Great Lakes. The ecosystem and industry relying on the Great Lakes are also affected by this invasion.
I feel that the best way to stop invasive species from coming into the Great Lakes is to prevent the
problem from happening before it already has.
Zebra Mussels are small mussels originally found in Russia, but were introduced into the Great Lakes
in 1988. Zebra Mussels have spread throughout every Great Lake, and are prominent in over 100
inland lakes (Home). Ships traveling up the Erie Canal transported the zebra mussel from European
waters into the Great Lakes. The zebra mussel quickly spread from Lake Erie to the other Great Lakes.
The invading species began to attach itself to almost every solid thing in the Great Lakes. These can
stick to boats, damage structures such as docks and piers, and they can clog water intake pipes, which
are used for drinking and industrial use. Invasive species like the zebra ... Show more content on

Therefore, in my opinion, the best approaches for dealing with the invasive species is to create
effective mechanisms to prevent their introduction in the first place before it happens, create
monitoring systems for detecting new infestations and we need to move rapidly to eradicate newly
detected invaders. Once invasive species become established and spread, it can be extraordinarily
difficult and costly to control or get rid of them all

Margo pulled a couple paper towels from a near empty roll that she brought up with them. Thank you,
Judy said as she wiped her mouth. No more booze for you, Dwayne said, as he put his arm around
Judy s shoulders. She moaned again, burying her face into Dwayne s chest. Margo sat up and looked
out to the street. She watched for any kind of movement. Anything, Dwayne asked as he pulled out his
cell phone again. Margo sighed and said, A lot of body s, that s for sure. She jumped a bit as she
ducked down. Dwayne gripped Judy tight as he looked at Margo, who was now eye level with the
wall. What, what is it, he asked urgently. Margo held her hand up to him as she watched. After a few
seconds, she lowered her hand and let out the breath she was holding. Margo grinned then turned to
Dwayne. A dog, she said as her body visibly relaxed. A God damn dog scared the shit outta me.
Dwayne loosened his grip on Judy as he sighed. Dwayne heard the now, all too familiar, All circuits

out the radio, and raised the antenna. She was about to crawl over to the wire by the door when
Dwayne said, Only for a minute. Those batteries won t last forever. Margo turned to him as she

Importance of Good Precedents for Sustaining Democracies...
There are many different reasons why the partition of India occurred. When Britain oppressed India,
they had a divide and conquer policy that exacerbated the religious and cultural rifts that already
existed in the society. The Muslim League, which believed in the ideology of Pakistan , actively
campaigned to gain more support for the Muslims in India, especially under the guidance of dynamic
leaders like Jinnah. Pakistani leader and founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah believed that this partition
was inevitable since [a] united India would never have worked (Komireddi 2009). He and others
thought that a unified state would only lead to the relegation of Muslims to the fringe of society and,
ultimately, to violence and civil war. The Indian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The east and west sides of Pakistan were not divided over religion (they were mostly all Muslim),
rather the division was on the basis of culture and language. West Pakistan was Punjabi while East
Pakistan was Bengali. In 1971, there was a major war between India and Pakistan and the east side of
Pakistan split off into what is today called Bangladesh. For the purposes of this essay, we will be
focusing on just Pakistan and India.
The people in both countries have very common and even interlocked backgrounds, so how is it that
these countries have very divergent political atmospheres since partition? India, adapting from the
legacy of British rule and the Government of India Act 1935 for its constitution, kept the idea of
federalism and was also successful in operating its political system within the formal democracy.
Except for 18 months between 1975 and 1977 India maintained its democratic institutions. In the five
decades since partition, there have been twelve legislative elections and many more state assembly
elections. There have been seven peaceful transfers of power between rival political parties at the
central (federal) level (Varshney 1998). Since 1967, the party that ruled in New Delhi has not ruled in
nearly half of the states (Varshney 1998). A fleeting sample of the morning newspapers will show that
the press in India has remained diverse, dynamic, free, and altogether unafraid to

Chicago Fire Essay
It all started on 137 De Koven Street, in Catherine and Patrick O Leary s Barn. Daniel Sullivan ,who
was a friend and the first one to discover the fire, did not hesitate to call out for help. When the fire
was barely 15 minutes old, the O Leary s barn and neighboring houses were already engulfed in fire as
families stood outside, watching, and waiting for any kind of help to arrive. The absence of rain for
three weeks [has] left everything in so flammable a condition that a spark might set a fire which would
seep from end to end of the city. Reported the Chicago Tribune in the Sunday Edition. During that
time, Chicago had recently renovated it s fire alarm making it it s best out of the nation. However, in

Reporters, photographers, and illustrators were sent to the ruins to report and write to the national and

What Is The Concept Of Inverse Probability Of Treatment...
B. Inverse probability of treatment weighting
According to Linden et al. (2016; 2010) and Horvitz Thompson (1952), the concept of inverse
probability weighting begun in survey works many years ago to adjust for imbalances in sampling
pools and continues to be regularly applied in complex survey designs. Several works have been done
over the years by researchers to extend this concept to the studies of treatment effects estimation in
quasi experimental designs (Robins Rotnitzky, 1995; Rosenbaum, 1987); where weighting estimators
are used to model the IPTW. From the sample counterpart of Equation (5), the estimator for the
average treatment effect according to Linden et al. (2016; 2010) is specified as: , ... Show more

Another limitation of IPTW according to Linden (2015) and Kurth et al. (2006) is that the IPTW
framework can perform badly when there is extremely large weights for a few individuals. This leads
to an imprecise treatment effect estimates due to large standard errors.
C. Marginal mean weighting through stratification
The marginal mean weighting through stratification (MMWS) is a more recent approach developed to
handle multivalued treatment analysis. It works by combining elements of both propensity score
stratification and IPTW (Linden, 2014; Hong, 2012; Linden et al., 2010). It works by first stratifying
the analytic sample into quantiles of the generalized propensity score, and secondly, generating a
weight for each individual based on their corresponding stratum and treatment assignment (Linden,
2015; 2014). The stratification process is meant to reduce bias in the observed covariates used to
create the propensity score (Rosenbaum Rubin, 1984), whilst the weighting processes standardizes
each treatment group to the target population (Linden, 2014). In the multivalued treatment situation
(Linden, 2014; 2015), the MMWS approach is initiated as follows: first, the GPS is estimated either
by an ordered or multinomial response models. Next, each GPS is then stratified into equal sized
quantile categories. It is worth noting that stratification is based on the estimated probability of the

I Am A Strategic Thinker
Reflecting upon my personal areas for growth, I recognize a deep need to become more comfortable
amiss conflict and to be an active participant in resolving conflict throughout the various aspects of
my life. Conflict resolution is a necessary skill in order to be an adaptable minister and chaplain. It is
essential to understand what the sources of tension may be and how to react in grace and love to work
towards reconciliation. I am not an assertive person and have found myself avoiding conflict through
compromising or giving up my ideas for another. Going forward in ministry, I need to be prepared to
understand where conflict arises and how to squander it. I am a strategic thinker and hope to learn and

Conflict management assumes that conflict is a constant feature of group life. The idea is to keep it
within boundaries, not to eliminate it. Conflict resolution sees conflict as an interruption of normal
life.ii The idea is to find a solution usually a compromise as quickly as possible. Conflict cannot be
avoided, yet how religious leaders speak about and react to the conflict will frame how the community
handles conflict that arises. The stories and teachings of the Bible assume that conflict and change are
a natural and normal part of individual and community life.iii As leaders, we can be the voice that
highlights overlooked insights and methods while acknowledging and affirming the emotions in the
conversation and what each person has at stake in the decision making. People cause conflict. We can
either further the conflict or squander it with our actions.
The conflict that is dealt with, discussed, managed, and resolved can be good. This kind of conflict
provides an opportunity for growth and creative change. On the other hand, the conflict that is left
unattended and ignored can destroy unity, hinder growth, and render ministry ineffective. Poorly
managed situations can lead to increased tension, decreased productivity, and lingering resentments
that can last a very long time. Alternatively, if the conflict is well managed, it can lead to improved
communication and teamwork, more innovative ideas, and increased motivation. We let present

Flowers Symbolism In To Kill A Mockingbird
Flowers are an ongoing symbol in Harper Lee s novel To Kill a Mockingbird. They are used to relate
to or represent many of the characters all through the novel. The use of symbolism throughout this
work of fiction is essential because it gives a deeper understanding of the characters. Mayella Ewell
and the red geranium, Miss Maudie and her azaleas, Miss Dubose and her camellias, and Mayella
Ewell and the violet are four major uses of symbolism in the story. One use of symbolism in the novel
is when Mayella Ewell is compared to the red geranium. One corner of the yard, though, bewildered
Maycomb. Against the fence, in a line, were six chipped enamel slop jars holding brilliant geraniums,
cared for as tenderly as if they belonged to Miss Maudie Atkinson, had Miss Maudie deigned to
permit a geranium on her premises. People said they were Mayella Ewell s (pg. 194). Known as the
poor man s rose, the red geranium symbolizes gentility. The flowers growing in the filthy jars
represent Mayella and the conditions she lived in. Mayella was a young girl that was living a terrible
life and had no form of beauty in her life. Attending to those flowers had finally gave Mayella a form
of beauty and hope. They showed Mayella that underneath the ugly and unappealing, there is still
beauty. Another form of symbolism is when Miss Maudie is compared to her azaleas. Miss Maudie
hated her house: time spent indoors was time wasted. She was a widow, a chameleon lady who

How Did Fritz Theilen s Fight Against The Nazi Regime
From 1939 to 1945 World War II devastated Europe. The Nazi regime was taking over, but there were
resistance fighters. Some of them were members of the military, some hid Jews from the Nazis, and
some were children fighting against this regime. Fritz Theilen was a member of the Edelweiss Pirates,
a group of children who actively worked against the Nazis. Fritz had been a member of Hitler Youth
before becoming a Pirate, like most of the other boys. In 1940 he was expelled for insubordination.
After his expulsion he sought contact with other youth who were against the military regime, the
forced militarization of youth, and who believed in a free world. Then, in 1942, Fritz joined the
Edelweiss Pirates. He became one of the leaders of the group. This group of youth were active in their
fight against the Nazis. They stole goods, fought with current members of Hitler Youth, and helped
others escape dangerous situations. He was taken to the Gestapo headquarters after being arrested in
1943. There, he was brutally tortured to give the Gestapo information on the other members of the

Aristotle And Aristotle s Theory Of Moral Virtue
Nietzsche and Aristotle were two of the most significant philosopher of not only their time but their
works has lasted throughout the centuries to influence even some today s greatest minds. Their works
however could not be any separated, Aristotle is a prominent figure in ancient Greek philosophy,
making contributions to logic, metaphysics, mathematics, physics, biology, botany, ethics, politics,
agriculture, medicine, dance and theatre. He was a student of great thinkers such as Plato and
Socrates. He believes that ethics is a process to finding the final end or the highest good. He states that
although there are many ends in life those are usually only means to further ends, our ambitions and
wants must have some final purpose. Aristotle believes that this highest end is that of Happiness. He
introduces the concept moral virtue which is the ability to properly control desires to follow bad
actions, and is the focus of morality. Centered on the core of Aristotle s account of moral virtue is his
doctrine of the mean. According to this doctrine, moral virtues are character traits which are at in
between more extreme character traits. While Nietzsche a German philosopher, essayist, and cultural

Christmas Island Gender Roles
As a remote island country of only 2,205 inhabitants, it makes sense that most people have never

Ocean off the southern coast of Indonesia. To get an idea on the size of this minuscule island in
comparison to Washington DC, the 138.9 km long coastline is roughly three quarters the size of the
U.S. capital city. There are two seasons that this tropical island experiences throughout the year: a wet
season with monsoons all throughout the months of December to April, and a dry season the
remainder of the year with trade winds that cool down the island. Most of Christmas Island s coastline

The people of Christmas Island live what I would call a modernized Victorian lifestyle in that woman
are allotted the right to work, but gender roles are still very much prominent. There is no law against
discrimination in the workplace and that causes difficulty for women when they are looking for work.
In this country, men complete all the work while women stay home, tending to the family and their
home.
Marriage is still arranged in Christmas Island, although in the more urban areas of the island, love
matches are becoming more accepted. Virginity tests are still performed on brides, although the church
frowns down upon them. The people of Christmas Island hold high importance in family, so divorce is
not a very common practice in this country.
It is uncommon on the island to make direct eye contact with another person, as well as it is for one to
look at a person of high status or cut between the gaze of talking individuals. Making direct eye
contact in this country, oddly enough, is a sign of disrespect. Parents also do not allow their children to

Taking a Look at Multiple Sclerosis
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an acquired demyelinating disease of the central nervous system (CNS) that
typically is diagnosed in the second or third decade of life. Normally, nerves are enclosed in myelin
sheaths that help facilitate transmission of nerve impulses within the CNS and the peripheral nervous
system throughout the body. In patients with MS, the myelin sheath is damaged and eventually
degenerates, causing patches of scar tissue called plaques or lesions to occur anywhere randomly on
the myelin sheath (Ruto, 2013). This results in impaired nerve conductivity, which interferes with
message transmission between the brain and the other parts of the body. As a result, impulse
transmission is altered, distorted, short circuited, or completely absent. This interference in impulse
transmission creates muscle weakness, muscle imbalance, and possibly muscle spasms with partial or
complete paralysis. Multiple sclerosis also can result in visual impairment and alteration of cognitive
abilities, as well as pain, numbness, or tingling sensations (Ruto, 2013). MS affects about 400,000
persons in the USA and approximately 2.1 million worldwide. The average age of onset is between 20
40 years, although it can also occur in young children and in people aged 50 years and more. It is
estimated that the direct and indirect healthcare costs of MS in the United States result in
approximately $35,000 spent per year per patient. Multiple sclerosis affects women more

Aluminum Foils
Before building the design that is best fit for the presentation, there was many models that had failed .
To start off with, the first design to successfully float with 50 pennies for 20 seconds was Tyler s
design that was built with two pop cans and two sheets of aluminum paper (one is used to wrap the
cans while the other is used to make a cup to hold the pennies). However, when the group weighed
this in class, it was around 31 grams, which is 4.5 grams overweight (the requirement is 26.5 grams).
Seeing this, the group cut the top of both cans off, this decreased the weight and allowed the boat to
meet standards. Sadly, since the opening was big, small amounts of water leaked in while tested, this
made the group reconsider using this design in the final presentation. Following Tyler s design, Jalen
created a design that had one pop can and aluminum foil wrapped around it, however, when Jalen
tested this at home, it did not work. During this time, Claire made a design to Tyler s. Instead of using
aluminum foil to wrap around the two cans, Claire poked two holes through both cans and used a
metal strip (a strip of aluminum cut from a pop can) and connected the two cans. Knowing that it will
be overweight, Claire cut both tops off. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the pennies to spread out. Claire s design is similar to Tyler s, its advantage over the previous design is
that it is lighter, however, it is also unbalanced making the boat float in an awkward angle. Lastly,
there is the group design, which has the advantage of disabling the water to cover its insides but a
disadvantage of a higher number in the depth of the displaced area. To prove this, the group should
test all three boats out during the presentation, this would help communicate the designs on each

  • 2. The Universe and It’s Phenomena The Universe and It s Phenomena The universe is an unknown place. Most of it has not been explored. Some things are known, however. Scientists know a lot about things like the Big Bang and our Asteroid Belt. Some of the universe s natural phenomenons are yet to be discovered. This article will explain some of them and why they happen. In the year 1929, Edwin Hubble made a revolutionary discovery. He learned that the universe is expanding. He saw that the galaxies were each moving away from us. Edwin knew that for one instance of time, almost 14 billion years ago, all of the mass of the universe was contained in a single spot. There had to have been a huge explosion that pushed all the matter away. This explosion is known as the Big Bang Theory. (www.science.nasa.gov) NASA is now monitoring the expansion of the universe in spacecraft such as the Hubble Space Telescope and Spitzer Space Telescope. A goal of these telescopes is to decide if the universe will expand forever, or if it will go backwards and return to the original spot of the universe. (www.science.nasa.gov) What did the universe look like when it was born? To certain theories, if we went back and watched the Big Bang, we would see ... a sea of neutrons, protons, electrons, anti electrons (positrons), photons, and neutrons (www.science.nasa.gov.) With time, the universe would cool and neutrons would either decay or combine with other things. The universe would look opaque. This is because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Pregnancy Discrimination Act Summary The Pregnancy Discrimination Act is designed to protect employees from any type of discrimination which includes hiring, promotions, job responsibilities, layoffs, benefits, and any other terms of employment. Employers are required by law to provide accommodations to women experiencing a medical condition related to the pregnancy that stops them from performing their usual job responsibilities. The Pregnancy Discrimination Act amended Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that prohibits sex discrimination on the basis of pregnancy. This act also covers childbirth and related medical conditions. The EEOC Enforcement Guidance provides clarification on important issues within the Pregnancy Discrimination Act. Specifically: 1. The Pregnancy Discrimination Act protects employees from discrimination based on current pregnancy, past pregnancy, as well as potential or planned pregnancy. Employers cannot refuse to hire, fire, or discriminate against employees who are currently pregnant or have the potential to be pregnant. The PDA protects past pregnancies by providing protection to employees who may be fired after pregnancy and the action was motivated by some factor that occurred when the employee was pregnant and being accommodated by the employer. PDA still applies even though the employee is not pregnant at the time of firing. 2. The EEOC states that an employer cannot force a pregnant employee to take leave nor can they reassign the worker to a different position even though they feel it is in the best interest of the ... A college education is probably one of the most expensive purchases a young adult will most likely ever purchase in their lifetime. College can be very expensive as a consequence tuition can range anywhere from 10,000 to 70,000 a year. Nearly all college students pay for college by a college fund, scholarship/grants, out of their own or parent s pocket or borrowed money. Despite the fact some of those payments aren t directly coming from the student it is more than likely that they still don t have a stable income to provide themselves with basic necessities. Most colleges don t provide students with basic necessities which means they acquire to go out and obtain everything needed as far as food, supplies, books, also toiletries. The average college student spends anywhere from $200 $700 a month on just the articles they need. While on articles they want they spend anywhere from $20 $200. More than likely that most college students don t work, notwithstanding first year students and athletes, which is a large population of the school anyway. Today most students aren t obtaining a stable cash flow and even the ones who are from allowances or a job tend to still most likely struggle with budgeting. • 13. The Eureka Stockade The eureka stockade... It is defined by many as the beginning of Australia. This historical event has influenced every person, in that it changed our country s legal system for the better, into the democracy we know today. For this reason, a documentary needs to be made about the struggles and journey that these noble diggers went through, to improve the lives of everyone. The Gold rush that took place in Ballarat, Victoria brought with it much conflict. The Eureka stockade was a battle between the government and the troops that took place in 1854. Although the battle took place on December 3rd, the events that led to it, happened during that year. The outrage first started when Governor Hotham came to power and set up weekly licence checks and increased the price of licences in order to make money for himself and relieve the debt of the colony. Over months the licence checks became more frequent and the police became brutal in order to collect owed fees. On October 7th 1854 digger James Scobie was murdered and his suspected murderer James Bentley was acquitted due to his friendship with the judge. This made the miners angrier, and on 17th October 10,000 diggers got together and burnt down the Eureka hotel in protest. With no action from government authorities being taken to improve the conditions, the miners formed the Ballarat Reform league at Bakery Hill. The word Dim in the next line has a lot of significance and meaning. Firstly it describes the scene, the light, giving it an eerie and gloomy feel, one with little hope. Secondly, it describes the chances this soldier has, having shown us that war can be left up to chance, Owen is describing the chances this boy now has for survival. Analysis Of The Article The Pelican Brief The Wetlands In Grisham s novel, The Pelican Brief, he presents a case where an organization attempts to protect the coastal marshes of Louisiana against the selfish oil companies and citizens that wish to destroy it for money. This is a tremendous concern that people deal with in America. John Grisham wrote The Pelican Brief, in 1992 and it was one of his best selling books. Louisiana s marshes are being destroyed and are suffering greatly because of humans. Grisham shows extensive knowledge of the wetlands as well as the wildlife through discussing the endangered Brown Pelican and how humans have brought it to the brink of extinction. Numberless amounts of waterfowl, birds, and countless species that call Louisiana home are now being terrorized thanks to non native species, humans and a numerous amount of different causes. The Brown Pelican, Louisiana s state bird, has been endangered until 1995, and about half of all the geese in North America spend the winter in the coastal marshes (Elliott, Charles). Additionally, Louisiana is the leading state for the number of wintering ducks (¨SGP¨). The marshes are extremely important to the fowl that live there year round and for the ones that do not. The Bobwhite Quail, that live there year round, have suffered huge losses to their population. From 1966 they have declined 75%, primarily due to habitat degradation (¨SGP¨). Introduction Dignity in Dying is a national campaign and membership organisation, advocating a change in the law on assisted dying. A change to the existing law would allow terminally ill people who are considered mentally competent to decide when to end their lives. Essentially, this would mean that a dying patient would be able to request life ending medication from their doctor, thus enabling them to make a decision when and how they would die. Lord Falconer s Assisted Dying Bill was presented to the House of Lords last year but was not passed in time for the General Election in May 2015. A Bill is a proposal for a new law, or to amend an existing law. Bill s are presented to and debated by Parliament, which is made up of the House of Commons and the House of Lords. In June 2015 Rob Marris MP tabled a Private member s Bill in the house of commons. The Bill is essentially the same as the Assisted Dying Bill submitted by Lord Falconer. The Bill includes a safeguarding framework to ensure that a person has a voluntary, clear, settled and informed wish to end his or her life and that the person is terminally ill and is reasonably expected to die within 6 months. Water quality can be anything that affects the benefits humans derives from water. It can include drinking water, food, recreation, and any other use of water that is possible. Many invasive species including zebra mussels and Asian carp pose a great threat to the water quality of the Great Lakes. The ecosystem and industry relying on the Great Lakes are also affected by this invasion. I feel that the best way to stop invasive species from coming into the Great Lakes is to prevent the problem from happening before it already has. Zebra Mussels are small mussels originally found in Russia, but were introduced into the Great Lakes in 1988. Zebra Mussels have spread throughout every Great Lake, and are prominent in over 100 inland lakes (Home). Ships traveling up the Erie Canal transported the zebra mussel from European waters into the Great Lakes. The zebra mussel quickly spread from Lake Erie to the other Great Lakes. The invading species began to attach itself to almost every solid thing in the Great Lakes. (2016; 2010) and Horvitz Thompson (1952), the concept of inverse probability weighting begun in survey works many years ago to adjust for imbalances in sampling pools and continues to be regularly applied in complex survey designs. Several works have been done over the years by researchers to extend this concept to the studies of treatment effects estimation in quasi experimental designs (Robins Rotnitzky, 1995; Rosenbaum, 1987); where weighting estimators are used to model the IPTW. Another limitation of IPTW according to Linden (2015) and Kurth et al. (2006) is that the IPTW framework can perform badly when there is extremely large weights for a few individuals. This leads to an imprecise treatment effect estimates due to large standard errors. C. Marginal mean weighting through stratification The marginal mean weighting through stratification (MMWS) is a more recent approach developed to handle multivalued treatment analysis. It works by combining elements of both propensity score stratification and IPTW (Linden, 2014; Hong, 2012; Linden et al., 2010). It works by first stratifying the analytic sample into quantiles of the generalized propensity score, and secondly, generating a weight for each individual based on their corresponding stratum and treatment assignment (Linden, 2015; 2014). The stratification process is meant to reduce bias in the observed covariates used to create the propensity score (Rosenbaum Rubin, 1984), whilst the weighting processes standardizes each treatment group to the target population (Linden, 2014). In the multivalued treatment situation (Linden, 2014; 2015), the MMWS approach is initiated as follows: first, the GPS is estimated either by an ordered or multinomial response models. Next, each GPS is then stratified into equal sized quantile categories. It is worth noting that stratification is based on the estimated probability of the base ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. Christmas Island Gender Roles As a remote island country of only 2,205 inhabitants, it makes sense that most people have never heard of the country. Christmas Island, considered a part of Southeast Asia, is located in the Indian Ocean off the southern coast of Indonesia. To get an idea on the size of this minuscule island in comparison to Washington DC, the 138.9 km long coastline is roughly three quarters the size of the U.S. capital city. There are two seasons that this tropical island experiences throughout the year: a wet season with monsoons all throughout the months of December to April, and a dry season the remainder of the year with trade winds that cool down the island. The nearest two schools are the University of South Pacific located in Suva, Fiji and South Tarawa technical college. The people of Christmas Island live what I would call a modernized Victorian lifestyle in that woman are allotted the right to work, but gender roles are still very much prominent. There is no law against discrimination in the workplace and that causes difficulty for women when they are looking for work. In this country, men complete all the work while women stay home, tending to the family and their home. Marriage is still arranged in Christmas Island, although in the more urban areas of the island, love matches are becoming more accepted. Virginity tests are still performed on brides, although the church frowns down upon them. The people of Christmas Island hold high importance in family, so divorce is not a very common practice in this country. It is uncommon on the island to make direct eye contact with another person, as well as it is for one to look at a person of high status or cut between the gaze of talking individuals. Making direct eye contact in this country, oddly enough, is a sign of disrespect. Parents also do not allow their children to cry or have temper ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. Taking a Look at Multiple Sclerosis Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an acquired demyelinating disease of the central nervous system (CNS) that typically is diagnosed in the second or third decade of life. Normally, nerves are enclosed in myelin sheaths that help facilitate transmission of nerve impulses within the CNS and the peripheral nervous system throughout the body. In patients with MS, the myelin sheath is damaged and eventually degenerates, causing patches of scar tissue called plaques or lesions to occur anywhere randomly on the myelin sheath (Ruto, 2013). This results in impaired nerve conductivity, which interferes with message transmission between the brain and the other parts of the body. As a result, impulse transmission is altered, distorted, short circuited, or completely absent. This interference in impulse transmission creates muscle weakness, muscle imbalance, and possibly muscle spasms with partial or complete paralysis. Multiple sclerosis also can result in visual impairment and alteration of cognitive abilities, as well as pain, numbness, or tingling sensations (Ruto, 2013). MS affects about 400,000 persons in the USA and approximately 2.1 million worldwide. The average age of onset is between 20 40 years, although it can also occur in young children and in people aged 50 years and more. It is estimated that the direct and indirect healthcare costs of MS in the United States result in approximately $35,000 spent per year per patient. Multiple sclerosis affects women more ... • 36. Aluminum Foils Before building the design that is best fit for the presentation, there was many models that had failed . To start off with, the first design to successfully float with 50 pennies for 20 seconds was Tyler s design that was built with two pop cans and two sheets of aluminum paper (one is used to wrap the cans while the other is used to make a cup to hold the pennies). However, when the group weighed this in class, it was around 31 grams, which is 4.5 grams overweight (the requirement is 26.5 grams). Seeing this, the group cut the top of both cans off, this decreased the weight and allowed the boat to meet standards. Sadly, since the opening was big, small amounts of water leaked in while tested, this made the group reconsider using this design in the final presentation. Following Tyler s design, Jalen created a design that had one pop can and aluminum foil wrapped around it, however, when Jalen tested this at home, it did not work. During this time, Claire made a design to Tyler s. Instead of using aluminum foil to wrap around the two cans, Claire poked two holes through both cans and used a metal strip (a strip of aluminum cut from a pop can) and connected the two cans. Knowing that it will be overweight, Claire cut both tops off. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Starting off with Tyler s design, the surface area of this boat is bigger, this allows the pressure from the pennies to spread out. Claire s design is similar to Tyler s, its advantage over the previous design is that it is lighter, however, it is also unbalanced making the boat float in an awkward angle. Lastly, there is the group design, which has the advantage of disabling the water to cover its insides but a disadvantage of a higher number in the depth of the displaced area. To prove this, the group should test all three boats out during the presentation, this would help communicate the designs on each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
