Early Childhood Observation Of Young Girls
For this ten minute observation I observed a girl with brown hair, she had bangs across her forehead
and her hair length went along her ears, hardly touched her neck. She was wearing a pink stripped
shirt that had stripes on the top 3/4 of the shirt and the rest was pink and white flowers and she was
wearing jeans that had purple, pink, and white butterflies on the back pockets, and her shoes were blue
and pink with a Velcro strap. She was in the other room today where there is a stage in the far right
corner and to the left of that there is a reading area. Behind that there is some tables where the children
can play and interact.
The little girl was standing next to a table once I first started observing and she announced to the
teacher, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She stood back up and went the left of the room and sat down where a few other children were playing
with a long tube that had holes and the children were using yellow hammers to hammer in little plastic
nails. She was sitting next to a blonde haired girl but shortly after stood back up and went to the
wooden table again. She had red paper in front of her that she was cutting with green scissors. She cut
out a unusual shape and set it down on the table then walked to grab some green paper but as she tried
grabbing one piece about ten pieces of green paper fell onto the floor. She leans over to pick up all the
paper she dropped and put it back into the little cubby on a wooden shelf near the wooden table. The
teachers start singing, Finish what your doing finish what your doing. She walked back to the wooden
table and sat down with her green paper and started cutting that with her green scissors. The table hard

The Personal Development Of Nathan s Psychoanalytic Theory
According to Freud s Psychoanalytical theory, the ego serves as a balancing force between the id and
super ego. The healthy development of each of these components relies on having positive interaction
with one s parents throughout the first years of life. If a child grows up in a chaotic home, it is likely
that their development, according to the Psychoanalytic theory, will suffer. Nathan s upbringing was
filled with turbulence and instability as a result of his parents abusive relationship and mother s mental
illness. Freud s theory notes that the id is the first to develop and represents the impulsive and
instinctual portion of the unconscious mind. As the child progresses through their development, their
ego and, subsequently, super ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Erik and Nathan were friends in high school; they played in a garage band together, had frost tipped
hair and grungy plaid pullovers seemingly average boys from the early 90s. Erik s parents are what
Erik described as damned near perfect. His mother seems to fit a type that is caring, appropriately
concerned, and loving of Erik s artistic and post pubescent expressions. His father is similarly
supportive. Erik s mother remembers Nathan as a nice, well behaved kid. She had mild intuitions
around some troubling behavior: in particular, phone calls to his mother during stay overs that, at
times, lasted more than an hour, or his parent s hot and cold feelings of his being in the band. It
seemed to express, to her, helicopter parenting bordering on problematic. Erik s family responded to
what they knew of Nathan s situation with appropriate concern and action. His mother made attempts
to reach out to social services, once aware of possible ongoing abuse within Nathan s home life. Social
services told her his case would most likely be overlooked, due to his older age. Nathan s mother,
according to Nathan, had some very serious issues in regards to sexual intimacy and boundaries. His
father was physically abusive. During a phone call at Erik s home, Erik had eavesdropped on a
conversation between Nathan and his mother. His

Land Art History
When it emerged in the sixties among the crush of several other art movements (Pop Art, Minimalism,
among others) Land Art came to be an anti gallery artistic offshoot that straddled the domain between
architecture and sculpture. It had no manifestos nor schools nor leaders and it was not quite a
movement; the artists who were involved with it were also involved in other types of arts. Land art
was labelled as modern sculpture but its versatility and introduction of new concepts and visual
materials made it difficult to ascribe it to one field or term. Later on, the term Earth Works, coined by
Robert Smithson came to use but Earth Works only refers to works that use earth while Land Art is an
all encompassing umbrella that includes works ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Smithson s work Broken Circle Spiral Hill is two different works situated near each other. It is
actually not in America but was commissioned for an exhibition in the Netherlands near Emmen.
Spiral Hill is an earth mound that coils clockwise unto itself, like a sleeping snake. When it was
completed it was just shaped earth but in current day it is covered in green grass. Situated nearby on
the edge of the shore and into the water is the Broken Circle; its site was actually a functioning sand
and gravel quarry which was filled with green water. Smithson played with the negative and positive
space in such a way that the broken circle whose alternating arms are shaped with white and yellow
sand, recalls the Chinese Yin Yang symbol. In the middle of the positive space half circle sits a
boulder and this is yet again another allusion to monumental works of the past, this one appropriately
native to Dutch lands. Yet the center boulder in fact significantly expands the associative levels of this
work because it offers a direct tie to prehistory. . . . In the Bronze Age they [this type of large rock]
were used to make huge dolmens and

My Personal Statement Of Ecology
For me to fall in love with science, and ecology in particular, has been a lifelong process. I was lucky
to have experienced an early discovery of the joys and nuances of nature and this was supported
throughout my youth and adulthood by teachers, peers, and most importantly, my family. My first
memory, of seeing light filtering through swaying trees above me, is indicative of the beauty and
tranquility that nature has provided me throughout my life. Although I have always had an innate
respect and enjoyment of the environment, this feeling was amplified every time i would visit my
family in Valparaiso, Zacatecas, Mexico. These frequent trips to a pristine environment were what
ultimately changed my perspective on the world, my personal values, and led me to pursue an
education in ecology.

Although they had never studied it in universities, they knew more about their land and its
conservation than I ever could. They were aware of the common names of every species, of how to
grow what they needed, how to pollinate and take care of the soil, and how to raise and maintain
animals. My family knew how to live off of the land while tending to it for future generations. My
mom and her siblings were able to turn the soil to maintain maximum growth and could grow
livestock to use the resources provided by them. They know which plants are medicinal and
beneficial, as well as which ones can be deadly. These concepts, of being able to conserve the
environment, are what I focus on learning now. When I apply the concepts I learn in my biology
classes, such as on a recent restoration project in Baja California, I am reminded of what my family
taught me to do from a young age. Due to my experience of the beauty and grandeur of Valparaiso,
Mexico, it feels only natural for me to keep pushing towards the conservation and restoration of places

Mac Vs Pc Research Paper
Admittedly, Macs were in the market first, and initially were much better than PCs. But it s time to
realize the future of home computing: the PC. Although Macs are not completely useless, PCs
dominate the world of computers with a better user interface, cheaper price, and better internal
workings. These advantages far outweigh any little extra features that a Mac might have.
First of all, PCs have a better user interface. While Mac users have always boasted of having a
computer with a clean, modern look, this changed with Windows Vista, released on January 30, 2007.
Windows Vista has translucent window bars, a search bar on the start menu, and tabs on the bottom of
the screen, as well as introducing a feature in which users can scroll ... Show more content on

Another factor to ponder is that PCs have more RAM, or random access memory. RAM is memory
that programs that are running use actively. Less RAM means programs run slower, so having more
RAM is definitely a plus. Windows launches applications faster than Macs, and Windows is far better
at 3 D rendering (required for most modern games) (itok.net).
Compatibility is definitely a major issue. PC s are compatible with Xbox 360, the top selling console
of 2011 (winrumors.com), Linux, and Windows 7 has something called XP mode. XP mode allows the
PC user to run Windows XP on their Windows 7. PCs are also more compatible with TVs/big screens,
because most Macs require an adapter (www.itok.net). Another topic to think about is the Windows
Task Manager. The Windows Task Manager allows you access with a quick shortcut (CTRL SHIFT
ESC or CTRL ALT DELETE) to close unresponsive or frozen programs, or to monitor threads, CPU
usage, network usages, users, and background processes. Mac s equivalent, Activity Monitor, does not
have such a simple access method (the user must search for it in spotlight, then click on it), does not
provide as much information, and instead uses Force Quit. PC s alternate to Force Quit is a simple pop
up that automatically appears when a program stops responding, possibly saving the user much time
and effort. This alternate can be manually triggered by the user.
Furthermore, PCs

What Is Ernest Hemingway Code Hero
Each person has their own perception of what a hero is. Ernest Hemingway has a specific set of
guidelines to identify who is a hero and who isn t: Code Hero. Hemingway s code entails following
the ideals of honor, courage and endurance in a world that is sometimes chaotic, often stressful, and
always painful. Two characters, each written by Ernest Hemingway and John Steinbeck, respectively,
both demonstrate and fall short of Hemingway s standard. Santiago, of Ernest Hemingway s Old Man
and the Sea, fits the code in his perseverance through the hardships he endures while fishing, and even
though Santiago was written by the creator of Code Hero, fails to reflect it in his impatience. John
Steinbeck s George Milton in Of Mice and Men, though ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Santiago brought his trouble onto himself all because he was not able to go more than 84 days without
catching fish, violating one of the guidelines of Code Hero: endurance. All of Santiago s motives were
also all for himself, which one could argue shows an inferior way of being a hero. A selfless hero is a
better hero, just as George Milton shows. All of George s motives were to keep Lennie safe and give
him the best and happiest life he could. George was persevering and courageous enough to do all it
would take, including sacrificing his mental state to put Lennie out of his misery. Everything George
did was all hero and no coward, and none of it was done for his own benefit, while santiago s heroism
was brought upon by cowardice, and it was all self motivated, decidedly making George the best hero

What Does Christian Faith Mean To Me
What does my Christian faith mean to me? Faith is a gift from God. Faith means I won t go to hell
when I die. We were God s perfect creation. Being the loving God he is he gave us free will. We
abused that free will and fell into sin. God loved us so much he sent his own son Jesus (who is also
God) down to earth, Jesus was willingly tortured and slaughtered by the people he came to save,
dragged the sins of the world into the pits of hell and rose again so that everyone can go to heaven and
be God s children if they have faith. Jesus didn t stop there. He stayed and taught people for 40 days,
promised that the the Holy Spirit (who is also God) would come and then ascended into heaven. 10
days later the Holy Spirit came on Pentecost.

Online Vs Traditional Classes Essay
Many more people would enjoy school if it was convenient to their time. A great solution to this
problem is online classes. Some wonder if online classes are just as educational as traditional classes,
and if the discussions are as easy to understand without the face to face interaction with the instructor.
In this paper I will be discussing how online classes can be just as educational and are more
convenient to those who have busy schedules. The points of comparison are assignments, testing and
materials, convenience and interaction/discussions. The first thing I compared for online and
traditional classes were the assignments. Assignments for both classes require resource materials like
text books. For traditional class students the assignments are homework , but online students do all of
their work at home, so it is not necessarily called homework for them. Both classes require a specific
turn in date specified by their professor. Traditional classes have more of an advantage because
classmates are able to check each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The interaction and discussion between the two different types of classes is very different. Traditional
classes offer a more face to face social interaction and allow students to meet fellow classmates easier
than those who are taking online classes. The discussions for online classes is based on comments and
emails sent between each other. Those in online classes are barely able to talk to professors due to
slow feedback and they are not able to communicate easily with classmate unless they reach out
through chat rooms or emails. This is difficult because students are unaware of others schedules and it
is harder to reach out because they may be busy at the times you are not. An advantage of online
classes is students are able to learn from professors around the world which allows them to broaden
their perspective and learn from different

Postscript On The Societies Of Control Society Essay
The computer, one of the icons of the information age, has become an integral part of society. Email
has replaced snail mail, online videos have replaced the tape cassette, and social media has replaced
the village square. In his essay Postscript on the Societies of Control, the French philosopher Gilles
Deleuze argues that the rise of the computer heralds the transition from a disciplinary society to a
control society, where people are no longer viewed as individuals, but as dividuals, like data points in
a system. In her book How We Became Posthuman, Katherine Hayles gives examples of the
dividualizing effect computers have on individuals. Deleuze s control society stands in contrast to the
older disciplinary societies outlined by another French philosopher, Michel Foucault. In his book
Discipline and Punish, Foucault describes what he terms a panopticon, a system in which a large
number of subjects are observed from a central location, knowing that they may be observed but not
knowing when they are, in an effort to induce them to self discipline their own behavior. The
panopticon forms the basis of a disciplinary society, which uses panoptic institutions such as school,
prisons, and hospitals to encourage individuals to conform to certain standards and norms (e.g.
learned, law abiding, healthy). In the article The Subject and Power , Foucault further discusses the
power relationships that underlie such disciplinary societies, asserting that power in

Essay on The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and Beauty and The Beast
A fairytale is a fictional fantasy fable that passes through generations of children as source of interest
to them. Though used for the intent of entertainment, fairytales often indirectly advocate a moral or
message to readers (whom are usually children), in hopes that they will grow up to apply these ethics
and lead a righteous life. This criteria, however, often originates from the occurrence of a magical
transformation; it is this paranormality that introduces the characters of the story to a side of life far
from what they have grown to know and learn to adapt to the dramatic amend in their life. This is
evident in the characters in world renowned tales such as The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and Beauty and
the Beast. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the story progresses, Eric does come to know of Ariel s true identity as a mermaid, nevertheless he
still loves her; she doesn t need to change herself for it wasn t what she is that he fell in love with; but,
it is who she is. The classic tale of The Little Mermaid is gives strong evidence as to how the basis of
a fairytale essentially lies within the occurrence of a magical transformation. The importance of
magical transformation is also present in the enchanting saga of Aladdin. Aladdin is an illicit, street rat
whom is, perhaps, the most wanted criminal in Agrabah by the federals. Due to his meagre
circumstances, Aladdin relies on robbery as his means of survival. After narrowly escaping the wrath
of the police, he comes across Jasmine, a disguised runaway princess. Jasmine is the headstrong
young woman and the princess of Agrabah whom after being caged within the palace and isolated
from anything and anyone beyond it her entire life, runs away to find happiness. Aladdin, whom
initially believes that Jasmine is merely a commoner, is quick to fall in love with her, though later her
identity is exposed and she returns back to the palace. Aladdin eventually is caught and imprisoned
when Jafar, a menace acting as the royal vizier for the king (Jasmine s father), disguised as an old
man, tricks Aladdin into retrieving a lamp for him. Before Jafar could kill Aladdin and claim the lamp
for himself, Aladdin manages to

Child Soldiers in India
The military use of young children takes three distinct forms: children can take direct part in hostilities
(child soldiers), or they can be used in support roles such as porters, spies, messengers, look outs, and
sexual slaves; or they can be used for political advantage either as human shields or in propaganda.
Throughout history and in many cultures, children have been extensively involved in military
campaigns even when such practices were supposedly against cultural morals. Since the 1970s a
number of international conventions have come into effect that try to limit the participation of children
in armed conflicts, nevertheless the Coalition to Stop the Use of Child Soldiers reports that the use of
children in military forces, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

military and other training on a voluntary basis. Although not obliged to sign up for military service,
cadets who succeeded in passing exams were given concessions when applying to the army, navy or
air force as well as auxiliary forces. Cadets were involved in relief operations in southern India
following the 2004 Asian tsunami. * Child recruitment and deployment
The lack of systematic birth registration, particularly in rural areas, made it difficult to verify ages,
making it impossible to rule out the possibility that under 18s might participate actively in hostilities.
There were active recruitment drives targeting youths , particularly in the Kashmir valley. * Detention
of children
There was evidence that in areas of armed conflict children accused of being members of armed
groups were detained, often in violation of national legislation designed to protect children in conflict
with the law. In Manipur it was alleged that the system established under the Juvenile Justice Act 2000
was non functioning due to inadequate resources; in particular no juvenile home had been established.
As a result, security forces (including police) who detained children in anti insurgency operations
were reportedly claiming that they were over 18 when

Problem Of Evil And The Free Will Defense

Problem of Evil and the Free Will Defense
Evil is something that exists in many forms. From big evils like Hitler s Holocaust and slavery, to
small evils like getting a papercut and getting stuck in the rain (perhaps to some this might be a big
evil), evil is basically anything that is not good. For theologians, evil poses several problems, most
notably when it comes to the existence of God.
To most theologists, God has a set definition. God is defined as an all powerful (omnipotent), all
knowing (omniscient), and all loving (omnibenevolent) being that is morally perfect, meaning God
always does the right thing. So how can there be a God if there is evil in the world? This question is
something ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To clearly show the problem of evil, I will lay out it out in premise, conclusion form:
1. If God exists, then God is all powerful, and all good.
2. An all powerful being can do anything.
3. An all good being always prevent evil as far as it can.
4. There is evil.
5. Conclusion: Therefore, God does not exist.
From this, some possible solutions arise. Simply, if stating that one of the premises is not true, then the
problem of evil does not exist. Maybe one does not believe that God s power is limited or perhaps are
prepared to say that evil does not exist and is merely an illusion. It is hard to truly prove that these
solutions are true, but they are solutions nonetheless. Along with these adequate solutions, are some
solutions that Mackie describes as fallacious . The most noted one very well could be the Free Will
Defense.
People have the choice to do the good thing or the bad thing. The free will defense states that evil is
due to human free will. It attempts to prove that premise 3 is incorrect. In other words, the evil that
exists in this world is not God s fault, but rather the choices and actions of humans, who were given
free will from God. This means that the potential cost of having free will is evil. Thus, God, who is an
all good being, will not prevent evil because it is not under his discretion whether humans choose the
cruel option. This is

Gaius Marius a Military Leader
Gaius Marius was born into a poor family. He began his political career serving in the military is
Spain. According to Livy, he was elected Tribune of the People in 119. His general at the time was
very impressed with him and helped he achieve this status. He then served under Metellus in the war
against Jugurtha, but Metellus was not a successful leader and failed. When Marius returned back to
Rome ran for consul and won the election. He then broke his first law, and persuaded the comitia
tribute to give him control of the forces in Africa, which only the senate could do at the time, but he
gained the power anyway. He then went to break more rules, by offering the poor a job as a solider,
giving them an opportunity to make money, and later gaining their alliance. The war he so badly
wanted to lead, was won, but it was actually won by Sulla and not Marius. Sulla was a young questor
at the time and only starting his political career. Rome was then attacked in the North. Because of
Marius success in geurilla warfare with Jugurtha, Rome trusted him to take care of the fighting in the
north, and Marius was elected a 2nd time to consul. Which is again, illegal. After Rome was safe in
the North, Marius wanted to repay his army and he established laws that would secure his army land
after they has served their time in the army. To do so, he aligned himself with the Tribune of the
People, Saturnius. This alliance would gain him a third consulship later. Saturnius and Marius went

Chapter Of Alpha Omicron Pi
Preface:
For my subculture, I decided to do the Beta Zeta chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi, also known as AOII,
because I became a sister in the fall of 2015. Although I have spent nearly two semesters with the
sorority, I still have a lot to learn. Due to my lack of knowledge, there are many assumptions. My first
assumption is about the leadership council of Beta Zeta. I presumed the girls in charge of the chapter
were elected because of popularity. I also believe the leaders are running for the sake of their resumes.
Another preconception I have is that sororities do not promote leadership. As far as bigs go, I
considered them as a friend inside the sorority, not a leader, which is another assumption of mine. A
big is an older sister in the sorority, who decides to become a mentor to a newer, younger sister. The
younger sister is known as a little, and any question she has or guidance she needs is directed towards
her big. I would like find the true meaning behind both being an officer on the Leader s Council and a
big. I look forward to what my research will find.
INTRODUCTION:
A series of observations, interviews, peer reviewed articles, and surveys taken as field notes will be
the primary sources to my research. The order of the paper will go from the history of AOII to
discussing leadership inside AOII, to challenging the idea of bigs being considered a leadership
position.
To begin my research, I formed some critical guiding questions. My first was based off

The Historical Context Of The Saint Bartholomew s Day...
In a private correspondence from George Washington to Irish politician Edward Newenham, the
president responded to Newenham s description of the violence between Catholics and Protestants in
1792 by stating that, Of all the animosities which have existed among mankind, those which are
caused by a difference of sentiments in religion appear to be the most inveterate and distressing, and
ought most to be deprecated. Two hundred and twenty two years before Washington penned those
words, those deep rooted and disturbing resentments between Catholics and Protestants brought about
a massacre of thousands of Protestant victims in the Paris, its neighboring urban centers, as well as in
the countryside on 24 August 1572. The Saint Bartholomew s Day Massacre was one of the bloodiest
events in early modern French History, and initiated an intensified and bloodier period in the War of
Religion. This paper will analyze testimonies from Catholic and Huguenot viewpoints by looking at
the massacre s historical context, the massacre itself, as well as its importance to the Reformation. By
presenting information from primary and secondary sources, this paper looks to examine the massacre
and the Catholic Church s culpability, and whether the leaders within the Church could have prevented
the slaying of thousands of innocents or simply nurtured longstanding resentments in order to
eliminate their religious opposition. To fully comprehend the enormity of the violence that

The Battle Of Malvern Hill
The Battle of Malvern Hill:
Field Artillery played a significant role in many battles during the Civil War. The Battle of Malvern
Hill is one such instance. Located in Henrico County VA, Malvern Hill sits South East of Richmond
just north of the James River. This battle is part of The Peninsula Campaign (March September 1862)
and more specifically the Seven Days Battle. The Seven Days Battle was a series of six battles starting
on June 25, 1862 at The Battle of Oak Grove and ending at Malvern Hill on July 1, 1862. During the
battle, artillery in both armies had a drastic effect on the outcome whether good or bad. In this paper,
we will discuss the initial disposition of troops as well as the challenges faced by each army, the
actions taken once hostilities initiated and the outcome of the battle. In conclusion, we will discuss the
lessons learned from this battle as it pertains to the Field Artillery as well as the relevance of the
lessons learned to the modern day battlefield.
Union Forces At this time, Major General George B. McClellan commanded the Union Army of the
Potomac although he would be relieved of command soon after this battle by President Abraham
Lincoln despite the battle being a Union victory. M.G. McClellan was relieved because of a difference
in tactical decision making between M.G. McClellan and President Lincoln. At the beginning of this
battle, he had 89,000 men under his command although not all of that number saw action in this battle.

Final Essay: Hills Like White Elephants
Jig s Abortion through the Historical and Textual Lens I know you wouldn t mind it, Jig. It s really not
anything. It s just to let the air in (Hemingway 213). In Ernest Hemingway s Hills Like White
Elephants, an abortion is debated through subtleties, similes, and symbols. The abortion is never
explicitly mentioned, but instead Hemingway leaves the reader to conclude what this simple operation
really is (213). With no decisive decision on the termination of the pregnancy revealed at the
conclusion of the story, the reader is left to conjecture what decision, if any, Jig settled upon. Many
critics are resolute in their reasoning that Jig would have the abortion performed, but a smaller
population believes Jig decided to forgo the procedure. Through examination of the history of abortion
as well as Hemingway s personal history, his sympathy and respect towards women in Hills Like
White Elephants and other writings, and textual analysis of symbols and word choice, it is evident that
Jig resolves not to have the abortion. Abortion has been long been a subject of legal and moral
controversy. Today, abortion is legal in 75% on the world and no less controversial ( Abortion Laws
Worldwide ). In 1927, however, when Hills Like White Elephants was published, abortion was much
more restricted. In the United States nearly every state had antiabortion laws by 1910 (Doan 51).

Avian Aspergillosis
Avian Aspergillosis
The subfamily Aspergillus has a wide range of fungi which can cause Avian Aspergillosis. Aspergillus
Fumigatus is the most commonly diagnosed species of the fungus, others include flavus and niger.
Aspergillus Fumigatus tends to thrive in moist and warm environments. Endotoxins are released
through the dispersal of microscopic spores, which usually become airborne. This enables the disease
to travel from one location to another and then proceed to grow, which creates areas that are more
highly populated compared to others. In small minorities the fungus is less likely to have adverse
consequences. Some factors concerning the environment that can increase the chances of a bird
inhaling spores are poor ventilation and sanitation, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Acute Avian Aspergillus can create a loss of appetite and can cause severe difficulty when breathing.
This can be seen by the bird showing signs of accelerated breathing, gasping and voice changes. An
infected bird might also have abnormal excretion, a strong thirst with excessive urination or show
signs of emaciation and central nervous system damage. This severe damage will be evident in an
obvious lack of muscular coordination and mobility; the bird might also hold its head at an unnatural
angles. Central nervous system damage will only occur if the fungal infection reaches the brain. The
most common signs of Avian Aspergillosis are drooped wings and rapid opening and closing of the
bird s bill. The fungus usually affects the respiratory region including the trachea, lungs and syrinx;
the infection can however spread to the kidneys, brain, skin, and muscles. Since Aspergillus can be
fatal, a lot of birds are diagnosed post mortem. The signs from an autopsy can include brain tissue
death or meningoencephalitis; white nodules can also be evident. These small growths are evidently

The Pros And Cons Of Gold Rates
Commodities:
Putting aside a specified sum of money and expecting some kind of return out of it within a certain
time period is what financial investment is all about. Various types of financial investments are mutual
funds, fixed deposits, bonds, stock equities, real estate, gold/silver and precious stones.
Interests in stocks, gold and oil contracts are dependably thought to be the best wellspring of interest
in developing economies. Speculators of Pakistan are differentiating their speculation into gold, on the
grounds that such speculations regularly have had a converse association with stock exchange
developments. Investment in the gold is considered as the most secure investment today. There are
numerous reasons behind that but since of old customs and traditions gold is vital in this part of the

Gold prices/rates in Pakistan are for the most part subject to two primary elements. To begin with are

Literature Review On Luxury Hotel
Introduction Literature Review
Luxury Hotels
It is hard to give a single universal definition for a luxury hotel for the simple reason that it is even
harder to first explain what exactly is entailed in the word luxury (Danziger, 2005). Kapferer (1997)
presented the semiotics of the word luxury as Luxury defines beauty; it is art applied to functional
items, which emphasise that luxury products as an art form brings more psychological satisfaction,
like esteem on the owner, than functional utility.
Barbara Talbott (2004), Ex. Chief Marketing Officer of Four Seasons Hotels, said that there are four
key factors that contribute to a luxury hotel experience; style, comfort, service, and pampering. In this

Essay on The Giant Panda
The Giant Panda (Ailuropoda Melanoleuca) lives in the bamboo forests
of southwestern China. This type of panda is endangered and to this day
there are only around a thousand pandas left (http//:panda.org, 1).
Adult giant pandas have a length of 160 to 180
centimeters (5/14 to 6 feet). The weight of an adult
male giant panda is normally between 80 and 125
kilograms (176 and 276 pounds) with males
typically weighing about 10% to 20% more than
females about the same size as the American black
bear. However, unlike the black bear, giant pandas

signaled by a swipe with a paw, or by a

Giant pandas are by nature solitary animals, most of the time avoiding

between March and May, the females must seek each other out in order to
mate (Etling 3). Pandas are known to begin mating at six years of age
(Jonkel 1).
In the months of August or September, one or two
cubs are born in a sheltered den made of twigs and
leaves. The mother will hold the cub to its chest
with both paws until the youngster squirms away.
This is to ensure that the cub is alive and well. The
young cub will become the mother s constant
companion for the next 18 months until the cub is
able to live on its own (Etling 3).
When panda cubs are born they usually weigh 3 to 5 ounces or about
4 5 grams each (1/900th of the mothers weight) (Etling 1). When the baby
pandas are born, they are blind and hairless. After a short 10 days, the cubs
eventually grow hair and gain sight.
The pandas eating diet is very basic. There are 25 different types of
bamboo that pandas eat. When the panda eats bamboo, the panda usually sits
in an upright position holding the bamboo out in front of it.

Conspiracy Theories Of The Death Of Tupac Shakur
Contrary to official explanations of key events are conspiracy theories, alternate explanations that
point out coordination and intent by figures and/or powers outside of the accepted knowledge. People
love a narrative that comes with a conspiracy theory, which is why such theories vanish. One theory
that never vanished was that of the death of Tupac Amaru Shakur. Conspiracy theories give people an
out to believe something else must have occurred instead of what has been told through the
mainstream media. People want to hold on to something or someone as long as possible until they

Enlargement Of The European Union
Introduction The European Union (EU), which began through the integration of six member states in
1951, welcomed its latest member, Croatia, in 2013, effectively bringing its total to twenty eight
members (Verdun, July 23, 2015). The first EU enlargement occurred in 1973, when the UK, Ireland,
and Denmark joined the union. Since then, four major enlargements have taken place, despite the long
existent controversies regarding the possible value or downfalls of the expansion of the union. With
over twenty more countries within the continent as possible candidates, especially as many express
interest of joining, it is highly possible that efforts for further enlargement may be made in the future.
The question, however, is whether EU ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of high concern, is whether the union can accommodate more diversity. Respecting and protecting
minorities for the EU has been an ongoing challenge. Anti immigration is a common phenomenon,
and although efforts have been made to increase acceptance, it is a challenge that may be further
induced as new member states join. The candidacy of Turkey, for example, has resulted to increased
anti Muslim attitudes. It is therefore questionable whether EU should pursue further enlargement in
the near future, or whether it should first address the internal challenges it is currently facing prior to
greater expansion. Background Economic Implications for Pre Existing and New Member States
Many studies exploring the implications of further EU enlargement focus on the possible economic
consequences. From liberal perspective further enlargement would mutually benefit all the member
countries economically (Cohn, 2012). Often, it is argued that new members joining the union are
positively affected, whereas pre existing countries suffer financial losses (Neueder, 2003). However,
studies suggest that although new members experience the most economic benefits by gaining
membership, pre existing members are positively impacted as well. Epstein argues that EU
membership has greatly benefited Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries in economic

Bigotry In Hudson
Hudson, the perfect bubble in Northeast Ohio, is seen as serene and flawless; when, in reality, it s a
breeding ground of bigotry. This bigotry is not as rampant and explicit as the protests and riots we see

became clear that the majority of the kids in the room wanted an all white workplace. They didn t
speak poorly about minorities, they simply implied that they were lesser than the dominant race in

Theories Of Hominin Evolution
Thinking about evolutionary theory, some people s first thoughts are humans have come from
monkeys. From what I have learned thus far in Archaeology is that there is more to evolutionary
theory than what one would have previously thought. Prior to entering Introduction to Archaeology I
had almost no knowledge about hominin evolution. The only idea I had about hominin evolution is the
single line of an ape that evolves into a human. For me personally I did not see the relevance of
hominin evolution, I believed that evolution did happen, for example; Darwin s findings on the
Galapagos Islands with how finch beaks change depending on the diet. I believe that evolution does
occur, what I struggled with was the hominin evolution. Prior to class ... Show more content on

I especially enjoyed the video on homo Naledi, it was exciting and I thought it gave an in depth idea
of hominin evolution. It is important for Paleoanthropologists to continue their work because there
could so much more evidence that has not been uncovered yet. Earlier in my paper I said that my
previous understanding of hominin evolution was a straight line of an ape evolving into a human.
However, that is not at all the case. The hominin evolution is similar to many branches coming off of
each other into eventually what separates the earliest apes from the earliest humans. Branches do
come off that have no leads to any other type hominin, which is where the possibility lies on whether,
that branch went extinct, or the remaining branches have not been found yet. This is why the story of
discovering Sediba was so significant. Sediba was a branch of hominid that had never discovered
before it was a missing link from Australopithecus to Homo Ergaster. Without Paleoanthropologists
continuing to search out new evidence, Sediba may have never been found. Paleoanthropologists need
to continue to search for new evidence proving the evolution of hominids further, for many reasons.
One is to find more missing links in the branches like Sediba. Another reason is to

How Stability was Maintained during the Middle-Ages
Introduction
Feudalism a social structure and hierarchy containing mutual duties and obligations. Stability is
maintained as long as the system doesn t change. Physical power resides with the king and nobles
through their knights. The Church s power resides through controlling people s beliefs. Serfs were tied
to the land. The Black Death, however, brought about such massive changes in demographics /
population that the demand for a limited labor source (the peasants) meant that this social group at the
bottom of the social ladder grew in importance (as seen in the 1381 Peasants revolt) that drastic
change and the end of the feudal structure was inevitable.
Paragraph 1
The castles played an important role in the middle ages. The castles structure was built to fortify and
maintain control over an area. The architecture that was put into building the castles, was designed to
hold back any enemies with heavy weaponry and stronger armies then them. Source 1 states The
earliest medieval castles were built with mottes and baileys. Mottes were built with wooden walls
around the edges, in the process formed a ring work fort. This sort of protective structure was used in
the late twelfth century. The Motte was one of the most defensible areas, while the bailey was one of
the main places where the battle took place.

The Power of Carver s Little Things Essay
The Power of Carver s Little Things
To a reader unfamiliar with his work, Raymond Carver s short story, Little Things may seem devoid of
all literary devices owning to good writing. Fortunately, these people are mistaken. With his
minimalistic style, it is what Carver doesn t write that makes his work so effective. Most of Carver s
short stories describe situations that many people could find themselves in and that is why his work is
so appealing to readers. They are not restricted to harsh explicative details or over dramatized
language, but are allowed to create their own rationale for the actions of the characters and the
consequent results.

Carver describes this scene with an emotional detachment, concentrating more on what is happening,
rather than why. In her essay about understanding Carver s revisions, Hashimoto says that
minimalistic writing describes the events as they transpire, allowing the reader to draw his own
conclusions. It is most likely that this is Carver s goal.
On account of Carver s use of the outsider s perspective, the reader is not prepared for the climactic
ending: She would have it, this baby. She grabbed for the baby s other arm. She caught the baby
around the wrist and leaned back. But he would not let go. He felt the baby slipping out of his hands
and he pulled back very hard. In this manner, the issue was decided. Here, the reader comes to the
point of the story, that two people s own selfishness blinds them to the suffering they cause another.
Carver says of this approach. Almost all the characters is my stories come to the point where they
realize that compromise, giving in, plays a major role in their lives. Then one single moment of
revelation disrupts the pattern of their daily lives. It s a fleeting moment during which they realize that
they don t want to compromise anymore. And afterwards they realize that nothing ever really changes
(Carson). The story ends with the reader guessing at the emotional depth of the characters and why
they would stop at nothing to get what they wanted. As the man

Introduction
This research study identifies the benefits and challenges to the implementation of E procurement in
the organizations. E procurement is the process of purchasing the goods or services from various
suppliers through the internet. This helps to provides number of benefits over older manual
procurement method by eliminating several errors. These benefits include reduction of administrative
cost, faster transfer of information, improve communication, and decrease in inventory cost (Matunga,

direct and indirect procurement. Direct procurement involves the materials that are used in the
production of manufactured goods, whereas indirect procurement deals with the involvement of day to
day operations. E procurement mainly provides more concentration on indirect procurement in
contrast to direct procurement (Kim Shunk, 2004).

Leading Positive Change
1. The TED talks videos of Simon Sinek and Rosabeth Moss Kanter provided me with valuable
information when it comes to inspiring others to follow your lead, as well as knowing the six
important keys to leading positive change. From Simon Sinek s presentation, I learned that the best
way to inspire others is by understanding how we lead and communicate with one another by focusing
on what others can believe in. Sinek made it clear in his presentation that the Golden Circle of why,
how, and what are what some organizations like Apple have mastered in inspired individuals to action.
Most organizations that fail to inspire others, like his example of TiVo, normally focus on telling
individuals what their products do, but the organization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I do agree with this idea that if we are motivated by why we are doing something in particular for the
greater good, our actions or products will be more valuable to those around us. One of Kanter s keys
to leading to positive change that stood out to me the most was to never give up. I tend to be very hard
on myself when I am faced with an obstacle that I would consider a failure, but according to Kanter s
Law is only considered a failure if you give up. It is important to remain engaged by pushing forward
even if it takes longer than imagined because the mindset of not giving up is what Kanter considers a
hallmark of leaders . This is an important key is many of us, including myself, tend to forget that not
everything in life is perfect so it is important for us to keeping working harder to reach our goals.
Kanter s other key, which I believe is extremely important to implement in our lives to lead positive
change is to lift other up. By sharing success and credit is what helps any environment to have the
ability to be able to accomplish any task over and over successfully. I strongly agree with this idea
because I have always felt that there is always power in numbers, and if everyone is working together
by supporting one another anything can be

Military Technology Research Paper
Military Technologies #2 War is a very strange thing. There are many controversies about it. TV
shows, movies, books, and even toys are being included in the mass culture that is the military. One of
the main controversies of war is the use of drones. As one military colonel puts it, Wars are a human
phenomenon, arising from human needs for human purposes. This makes human participation at some
level critical, or the entire exercise becomes pointless (Col. Adams). He is not wrong. To the contrary,
there are many other arguments. One of the strongest oppositions is that the participation of robots can
save lives. Robots do not have to necessarily replace humans on the front line. They ... Show more

It probably has one or two rotors, correct? In a few years, that will even change. There are new Valor
Helicopters that have 3 4 rotors and can fly faster than a jet. They can carry massive payloads that
were once reserved for cargo planes. They also have more maneuverability, allowing maximum agility
in fights. They are now being equipped with larger weapons, which can decimate any opposition they
may encounter along the way to their deployment. They have large troop bays than today s largest
helicopters and can carry larger missiles. One main enhancement is the rotating rotors. This allows
easily controlled vertical takeoff and landing, and makes it easier to turn and pivot. Another upgrade is
the weapons systems. The new versions can autonomously track threats, allowing firing capability
while flying, much like jets can do. These plane like helicopters can Travel at airplane like speeds
greater than 230 knots, achieve a combat radius of 434 kilometers, use a stronger engine and operate
in what s called high hot conditions of 6,000 feet and 95 degrees Fahrenheit (Kris Osborn), which
means that the new generation of helicopters are better in every way than the current helicopters in
deployment. This is a major step up from the technology that we today consider

Irish Revolution Research Paper
The Irish Revolution From 1919 1923 the war of independence and the civil war began and finished in
Ireland. These two wars are thought to be one, the Irish Revolution.Without the revolution, Ireland
would not have gained their independence, and Ireland would still be under British government;
therefore, the Revolution was an important part of Irish history. The Irish revolutions became an
important part of European history because it was the time Ireland gained their independence from
British government. Menapia Gual was given a task to clear out pirates from the channel. When he
cleared them out he began to try and take control of Britannia for himself. He had built forts along the
coast to stop infiltrators from entering. Defense forts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Irish could not manage to drive England away from Ireland. Each time England tried to conquer
Ireland the Irish would just hate them more. Bitterness between Ireland and Britain depend with
religious differences surfaced. Henry VIII thought in order to keep control of Ireland he would
suppress Catholicism in Ireland. The new conflict became English Protestant versus Irish Catholic
(Bartoletti, 13). By the fifth century Argyll and Western Scotland were settled by Northern Ireland
Scots. They settled in South Welsch, Lleyn Peninsula, and Pembroke. The Caledonians who had
fought Agricola had joined with other groups from the Picts. The name is Roman and means painted
men. The land of the Picts bordered the territory colonized by the scots from Ireland (Lloyd, 109). By
the third century the Irish became a threat to the Wales and a menace by the fourth. Roman Britain
built new forts to deal with the problem(Lloyd,109). This war was unlike any other war Ireland had
fought. The rebels did not want to repeat what happened in 1916 because they did not want to repeal
the rising. In 1923 British government had finally given Ireland a limited amount of independence.
Irelands new issue was to form a new type of

Early Childhood Observation Of Young Girls For this ten minute observation I observed a girl with brown hair, she had bangs across her forehead and her hair length went along her ears, hardly touched her neck. She was wearing a pink stripped shirt that had stripes on the top 3/4 of the shirt and the rest was pink and white flowers and she was wearing jeans that had purple, pink, and white butterflies on the back pockets, and her shoes were blue and pink with a Velcro strap. She was in the other room today where there is a stage in the far right corner and to the left of that there is a reading area. The healthy development of each of these components relies on having positive interaction with one s parents throughout the first years of life. If a child grows up in a chaotic home, it is likely that their development, according to the Psychoanalytic theory, will suffer. Nathan s upbringing was filled with turbulence and instability as a result of his parents abusive relationship and mother s mental illness. Freud s theory notes that the id is the first to develop and represents the impulsive and instinctual portion of the unconscious mind. Erik and Nathan were friends in high school; they played in a garage band together, had frost tipped hair and grungy plaid pullovers seemingly average boys from the early 90s. Erik s parents are what Erik described as damned near perfect. His mother seems to fit a type that is caring, appropriately concerned, and loving of Erik s artistic and post pubescent expressions. His father is similarly supportive. Erik s mother remembers Nathan as a nice, well behaved kid. She had mild intuitions around some troubling behavior: in particular, phone calls to his mother during stay overs that, at times, lasted more than an hour, or his parent s hot and cold feelings of his being in the band. It seemed to express, to her, helicopter parenting bordering on problematic. Erik s family responded to what they knew of Nathan s situation with appropriate concern and action. His mother made attempts to reach out to social services, once aware of possible ongoing abuse within Nathan s home life. Social services told her his case would most likely be overlooked, due to his older age. • 4. Land Art History When it emerged in the sixties among the crush of several other art movements (Pop Art, Minimalism, among others) Land Art came to be an anti gallery artistic offshoot that straddled the domain between architecture and sculpture. It had no manifestos nor schools nor leaders and it was not quite a movement; the artists who were involved with it were also involved in other types of arts. Land art was labelled as modern sculpture but its versatility and introduction of new concepts and visual materials made it difficult to ascribe it to one field or term. Later on, the term Earth Works, coined by Robert Smithson came to use but Earth Works only refers to works that use earth while Land Art is an all encompassing umbrella that includes works ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Smithson s work Broken Circle Spiral Hill is two different works situated near each other. It is actually not in America but was commissioned for an exhibition in the Netherlands near Emmen. Spiral Hill is an earth mound that coils clockwise unto itself, like a sleeping snake. When it was completed it was just shaped earth but in current day it is covered in green grass. Situated nearby on the edge of the shore and into the water is the Broken Circle; its site was actually a functioning sand and gravel quarry which was filled with green water. Smithson played with the negative and positive space in such a way that the broken circle whose alternating arms are shaped with white and yellow sand, recalls the Chinese Yin Yang symbol. In the middle of the positive space half circle sits a boulder and this is yet again another allusion to monumental works of the past, this one appropriately native to Dutch lands. Yet the center boulder in fact significantly expands the associative levels of this work because it offers a direct tie to prehistory. . . . I was lucky to have experienced an early discovery of the joys and nuances of nature and this was supported throughout my youth and adulthood by teachers, peers, and most importantly, my family. My first memory, of seeing light filtering through swaying trees above me, is indicative of the beauty and tranquility that nature has provided me throughout my life. Although I have always had an innate respect and enjoyment of the environment, this feeling was amplified every time i would visit my family in Valparaiso, Zacatecas, Mexico. These frequent trips to a pristine environment were what ultimately changed my perspective on the world, my personal values, and led me to pursue an education in ecology. As the name of this small town ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although they had never studied it in universities, they knew more about their land and its conservation than I ever could. My family knew how to live off of the land while tending to it for future generations. My mom and her siblings were able to turn the soil to maintain maximum growth and could grow livestock to use the resources provided by them. They know which plants are medicinal and beneficial, as well as which ones can be deadly. These concepts, of being able to conserve the environment, are what I focus on learning now. When I apply the concepts I learn in my biology classes, such as on a recent restoration project in Baja California, I am reminded of what my family taught me to do from a young age. • 6. Mac Vs Pc Research Paper Admittedly, Macs were in the market first, and initially were much better than PCs. But it s time to realize the future of home computing: the PC. Although Macs are not completely useless, PCs dominate the world of computers with a better user interface, cheaper price, and better internal workings. These advantages far outweigh any little extra features that a Mac might have. First of all, PCs have a better user interface. While Mac users have always boasted of having a computer with a clean, modern look, this changed with Windows Vista, released on January 30, 2007. Windows Vista has translucent window bars, a search bar on the start menu, and tabs on the bottom of the screen, as well as introducing a feature in which users can scroll ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another factor to ponder is that PCs have more RAM, or random access memory. RAM is memory that programs that are running use actively. Less RAM means programs run slower, so having more RAM is definitely a plus. Windows launches applications faster than Macs, and Windows is far better at 3 D rendering (required for most modern games) (itok.net). Compatibility is definitely a major issue. PC s are compatible with Xbox 360, the top selling console of 2011 (winrumors.com), Linux, and Windows 7 has something called XP mode. XP mode allows the PC user to run Windows XP on their Windows 7. PCs are also more compatible with TVs/big screens, because most Macs require an adapter (www.itok.net). Another topic to think about is the Windows Task Manager. The Windows Task Manager allows you access with a quick shortcut (CTRL SHIFT ESC or CTRL ALT DELETE) to close unresponsive or frozen programs, or to monitor threads, CPU usage, network usages, users, and background processes. Mac s equivalent, Activity Monitor, does not have such a simple access method (the user must search for it in spotlight, then click on it), does not provide as much information, and instead uses Force Quit. PC s alternate to Force Quit is a simple pop up that automatically appears when a program stops responding, possibly saving the user much time and effort. This alternate can be manually triggered by the user. Furthermore, PCs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hemingway s code entails following the ideals of honor, courage and endurance in a world that is sometimes chaotic, often stressful, and always painful. Two characters, each written by Ernest Hemingway and John Steinbeck, respectively, both demonstrate and fall short of Hemingway s standard. All of George s motives were to keep Lennie safe and give him the best and happiest life he could. George was persevering and courageous enough to do all it would take, including sacrificing his mental state to put Lennie out of his misery. Some wonder if online classes are just as educational as traditional classes, and if the discussions are as easy to understand without the face to face interaction with the instructor. In this paper I will be discussing how online classes can be just as educational and are more convenient to those who have busy schedules. The points of comparison are assignments, testing and materials, convenience and interaction/discussions. The first thing I compared for online and traditional classes were the assignments. Assignments for both classes require resource materials like text books. For traditional class students the assignments are homework , but online students do all of their work at home, so it is not necessarily called homework for them. Both classes require a specific turn in date specified by their professor. Traditional classes have more of an advantage because classmates are able to check each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The interaction and discussion between the two different types of classes is very different. Traditional classes offer a more face to face social interaction and allow students to meet fellow classmates easier than those who are taking online classes. The discussions for online classes is based on comments and emails sent between each other. Those in online classes are barely able to talk to professors due to slow feedback and they are not able to communicate easily with classmate unless they reach out through chat rooms or emails. This is difficult because students are unaware of others schedules and it is harder to reach out because they may be busy at the times you are not. • 10. Postscript On The Societies Of Control Society Essay The computer, one of the icons of the information age, has become an integral part of society. Email has replaced snail mail, online videos have replaced the tape cassette, and social media has replaced the village square. In his essay Postscript on the Societies of Control, the French philosopher Gilles Deleuze argues that the rise of the computer heralds the transition from a disciplinary society to a control society, where people are no longer viewed as individuals, but as dividuals, like data points in a system. In her book How We Became Posthuman, Katherine Hayles gives examples of the dividualizing effect computers have on individuals. Deleuze s control society stands in contrast to the older disciplinary societies outlined by another French philosopher, Michel Foucault. In his book Discipline and Punish, Foucault describes what he terms a panopticon, a system in which a large number of subjects are observed from a central location, knowing that they may be observed but not knowing when they are, in an effort to induce them to self discipline their own behavior. The panopticon forms the basis of a disciplinary society, which uses panoptic institutions such as school, prisons, and hospitals to encourage individuals to conform to certain standards and norms (e.g. learned, law abiding, healthy). In the article The Subject and Power , Foucault further discusses the power relationships that underlie such disciplinary societies, asserting that power in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Essay on The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and Beauty and The Beast A fairytale is a fictional fantasy fable that passes through generations of children as source of interest to them. Though used for the intent of entertainment, fairytales often indirectly advocate a moral or message to readers (whom are usually children), in hopes that they will grow up to apply these ethics and lead a righteous life. This criteria, however, often originates from the occurrence of a magical transformation; it is this paranormality that introduces the characters of the story to a side of life far from what they have grown to know and learn to adapt to the dramatic amend in their life. This is evident in the characters in world renowned tales such as The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The classic tale of The Little Mermaid is gives strong evidence as to how the basis of a fairytale essentially lies within the occurrence of a magical transformation. The importance of magical transformation is also present in the enchanting saga of Aladdin. Aladdin is an illicit, street rat whom is, perhaps, the most wanted criminal in Agrabah by the federals. Due to his meagre circumstances, Aladdin relies on robbery as his means of survival. After narrowly escaping the wrath of the police, he comes across Jasmine, a disguised runaway princess. Jasmine is the headstrong young woman and the princess of Agrabah whom after being caged within the palace and isolated from anything and anyone beyond it her entire life, runs away to find happiness. Aladdin, whom initially believes that Jasmine is merely a commoner, is quick to fall in love with her, though later her identity is exposed and she returns back to the palace. Child Soldiers in India The military use of young children takes three distinct forms: children can take direct part in hostilities (child soldiers), or they can be used in support roles such as porters, spies, messengers, look outs, and sexual slaves; or they can be used for political advantage either as human shields or in propaganda. Throughout history and in many cultures, children have been extensively involved in military campaigns even when such practices were supposedly against cultural morals. Since the 1970s a number of international conventions have come into effect that try to limit the participation of children in armed conflicts, nevertheless the Coalition to Stop the Use of Child Soldiers reports that the use of children in military forces, and ... • 14. Problem Of Evil And The Free Will Defense Gall Harari PHI2010 Kearns 19 October 2017 Problem of Evil and the Free Will Defense Evil is something that exists in many forms. From big evils like Hitler s Holocaust and slavery, to small evils like getting a papercut and getting stuck in the rain (perhaps to some this might be a big evil), evil is basically anything that is not good. For theologians, evil poses several problems, most notably when it comes to the existence of God. To most theologists, God has a set definition. God is defined as an all powerful (omnipotent), all knowing (omniscient), and all loving (omnibenevolent) being that is morally perfect, meaning God always does the right thing. So how can there be a God if there is evil in the world? This question is something ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To clearly show the problem of evil, I will lay out it out in premise, conclusion form: 1. If God exists, then God is all powerful, and all good. 2. An all powerful being can do anything. 3. An all good being always prevent evil as far as it can. 4. There is evil. 5. Conclusion: Therefore, God does not exist. From this, some possible solutions arise. Simply, if stating that one of the premises is not true, then the problem of evil does not exist. Maybe one does not believe that God s power is limited or perhaps are prepared to say that evil does not exist and is merely an illusion. It is hard to truly prove that these solutions are true, but they are solutions nonetheless. Along with these adequate solutions, are some solutions that Mackie describes as fallacious . The most noted one very well could be the Free Will Defense. People have the choice to do the good thing or the bad thing. The free will defense states that evil is due to human free will. It attempts to prove that premise 3 is incorrect. In other words, the evil that exists in this world is not God s fault, but rather the choices and actions of humans, who were given free will from God. This means that the potential cost of having free will is evil. Thus, God, who is an all good being, will not prevent evil because it is not under his discretion whether humans choose the cruel option. This is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Livy, he was elected Tribune of the People in 119. His general at the time was very impressed with him and helped he achieve this status. He then served under Metellus in the war against Jugurtha, but Metellus was not a successful leader and failed. When Marius returned back to Rome ran for consul and won the election. He then broke his first law, and persuaded the comitia tribute to give him control of the forces in Africa, which only the senate could do at the time, but he gained the power anyway. He then went to break more rules, by offering the poor a job as a solider, giving them an opportunity to make money, and later gaining their alliance. The war he so badly wanted to lead, was won, but it was actually won by Sulla and not Marius. Sulla was a young questor at the time and only starting his political career. Rome was then attacked in the North. Because of Marius success in geurilla warfare with Jugurtha, Rome trusted him to take care of the fighting in the north, and Marius was elected a 2nd time to consul. Which is again, illegal. After Rome was safe in the North, Marius wanted to repay his army and he established laws that would secure his army land after they has served their time in the army. • 17. Chapter Of Alpha Omicron Pi Preface: For my subculture, I decided to do the Beta Zeta chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi, also known as AOII, because I became a sister in the fall of 2015. Although I have spent nearly two semesters with the sorority, I still have a lot to learn. Due to my lack of knowledge, there are many assumptions. My first assumption is about the leadership council of Beta Zeta. I presumed the girls in charge of the chapter were elected because of popularity. I also believe the leaders are running for the sake of their resumes. Another preconception I have is that sororities do not promote leadership. As far as bigs go, I considered them as a friend inside the sorority, not a leader, which is another assumption of mine. A big is an older sister in the sorority, who decides to become a mentor to a newer, younger sister. The younger sister is known as a little, and any question she has or guidance she needs is directed towards her big. I would like find the true meaning behind both being an officer on the Leader s Council and a big. I look forward to what my research will find. INTRODUCTION: A series of observations, interviews, peer reviewed articles, and surveys taken as field notes will be the primary sources to my research. The order of the paper will go from the history of AOII to discussing leadership inside AOII, to challenging the idea of bigs being considered a leadership position. In a private correspondence from George Washington to Irish politician Edward Newenham, the president responded to Newenham s description of the violence between Catholics and Protestants in 1792 by stating that, Of all the animosities which have existed among mankind, those which are caused by a difference of sentiments in religion appear to be the most inveterate and distressing, and ought most to be deprecated. Two hundred and twenty two years before Washington penned those words, those deep rooted and disturbing resentments between Catholics and Protestants brought about a massacre of thousands of Protestant victims in the Paris, its neighboring urban centers, as well as in the countryside on 24 August 1572. The Saint Bartholomew s Day Massacre was one of the bloodiest events in early modern French History, and initiated an intensified and bloodier period in the War of Religion. By presenting information from primary and secondary sources, this paper looks to examine the massacre and the Catholic Church s culpability, and whether the leaders within the Church could have prevented the slaying of thousands of innocents or simply nurtured longstanding resentments in order to eliminate their religious opposition. • 21. Analysis Of Hills Like White Elephants C2C Eric J Holm 10 Dec 2015 Dr. Van Nort Final Essay: Hills Like White Elephants Jig s Abortion through the Historical and Textual Lens I know you wouldn t mind it, Jig. It s really not anything. It s just to let the air in (Hemingway 213). In Ernest Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants, an abortion is debated through subtleties, similes, and symbols. The abortion is never explicitly mentioned, but instead Hemingway leaves the reader to conclude what this simple operation really is (213). With no decisive decision on the termination of the pregnancy revealed at the conclusion of the story, the reader is left to conjecture what decision, if any, Jig settled upon. Many critics are resolute in their reasoning that Jig would have the abortion performed, but a smaller population believes Jig decided to forgo the procedure. Through examination of the history of abortion as well as Hemingway s personal history, his sympathy and respect towards women in Hills Like White Elephants and other writings, and textual analysis of symbols and word choice, it is evident that Jig resolves not to have the abortion. Abortion has been long been a subject of legal and moral controversy. Today, abortion is legal in 75% on the world and no less controversial ( Abortion Laws Worldwide ). In 1927, however, when Hills Like White Elephants was published, abortion was much more restricted. In the United States nearly every state had antiabortion laws by 1910 (Doan 51). Overseas, ... Enlargement Of The European Union Introduction The European Union (EU), which began through the integration of six member states in 1951, welcomed its latest member, Croatia, in 2013, effectively bringing its total to twenty eight members (Verdun, July 23, 2015). The first EU enlargement occurred in 1973, when the UK, Ireland, and Denmark joined the union. Since then, four major enlargements have taken place, despite the long existent controversies regarding the possible value or downfalls of the expansion of the union. With over twenty more countries within the continent as possible candidates, especially as many express interest of joining, it is highly possible that efforts for further enlargement may be made in the future. The question, however, is whether EU ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of high concern, is whether the union can accommodate more diversity. Respecting and protecting minorities for the EU has been an ongoing challenge. Anti immigration is a common phenomenon, and although efforts have been made to increase acceptance, it is a challenge that may be further induced as new member states join. The candidacy of Turkey, for example, has resulted to increased anti Muslim attitudes. It is therefore questionable whether EU should pursue further enlargement in the near future, or whether it should first address the internal challenges it is currently facing prior to greater expansion. Background Economic Implications for Pre Existing and New Member States Many studies exploring the implications of further EU enlargement focus on the possible economic consequences. From liberal perspective further enlargement would mutually benefit all the member countries economically (Cohn, 2012). Often, it is argued that new members joining the union are positively affected, whereas pre existing countries suffer financial losses (Neueder, 2003). However, studies suggest that although new members experience the most economic benefits by gaining membership, pre existing members are positively impacted as well. This bigotry is not as rampant and explicit as the protests and riots we see on TV, but it is slowly grown, like a tumor, noticed only by a careful eye. A debate in class taken place a few weeks ago shows this perfectly. As our class argues about government imposed hiring quotas, it became clear that the majority of the kids in the room wanted an all white workplace. They didn t speak poorly about minorities, they simply implied that they were lesser than the dominant race in Hudson, caucasian. This upset me. From what I have learned thus far in Archaeology is that there is more to evolutionary theory than what one would have previously thought. Prior to entering Introduction to Archaeology I had almost no knowledge about hominin evolution. The only idea I had about hominin evolution is the single line of an ape that evolves into a human. For me personally I did not see the relevance of hominin evolution, I believed that evolution did happen, for example; Darwin s findings on the Galapagos Islands with how finch beaks change depending on the diet. I especially enjoyed the video on homo Naledi, it was exciting and I thought it gave an in depth idea of hominin evolution. It is important for Paleoanthropologists to continue their work because there could so much more evidence that has not been uncovered yet. Earlier in my paper I said that my previous understanding of hominin evolution was a straight line of an ape evolving into a human. However, that is not at all the case. The hominin evolution is similar to many branches coming off of each other into eventually what separates the earliest apes from the earliest humans. Branches do come off that have no leads to any other type hominin, which is where the possibility lies on whether, that branch went extinct, or the remaining branches have not been found yet. This is why the story of discovering Sediba was so significant. Sediba was a branch of hominid that had never discovered before it was a missing link from Australopithecus to Homo Ergaster. Without Paleoanthropologists continuing to search out new evidence, Sediba may have never been found. Paleoanthropologists need to continue to search for new evidence proving the evolution of hominids further, for many reasons. One is to find more missing links in the branches like Sediba. Stability is maintained as long as the system doesn t change. Physical power resides with the king and nobles through their knights. The Church s power resides through controlling people s beliefs. Serfs were tied to the land. The Black Death, however, brought about such massive changes in demographics / population that the demand for a limited labor source (the peasants) meant that this social group at the bottom of the social ladder grew in importance (as seen in the 1381 Peasants revolt) that drastic change and the end of the feudal structure was inevitable. Paragraph 1 The castles played an important role in the middle ages. The castles structure was built to fortify and maintain control over an area. The architecture that was put into building the castles, was designed to hold back any enemies with heavy weaponry and stronger armies then them. Source 1 states The earliest medieval castles were built with mottes and baileys. Mottes were built with wooden walls around the edges, in the process formed a ring work fort. This sort of protective structure was used in the late twelfth century. The Motte was one of the most defensible areas, while the bailey was one of the main places where the battle took place. Fortunately, these people are mistaken. With his minimalistic style, it is what Carver doesn t write that makes his work so effective. Most of Carver s short stories describe situations that many people could find themselves in and that is why his work is so appealing to readers. They are not restricted to harsh explicative details or over dramatized language, but are allowed to create their own rationale for the actions of the characters and the consequent results. Carver describes this scene with an emotional detachment, concentrating more on what is happening, rather than why. In her essay about understanding Carver s revisions, Hashimoto says that minimalistic writing describes the events as they transpire, allowing the reader to draw his own conclusions. It is most likely that this is Carver s goal. On account of Carver s use of the outsider s perspective, the reader is not prepared for the climactic ending: She would have it, this baby. She grabbed for the baby s other arm. She caught the baby around the wrist and leaned back. But he would not let go. He felt the baby slipping out of his hands and he pulled back very hard. In this manner, the issue was decided. Here, the reader comes to the point of the story, that two people s own selfishness blinds them to the suffering they cause another. Carver says of this approach. Almost all the characters is my stories come to the point where they realize that compromise, giving in, plays a major role in their lives. Then one single moment of revelation disrupts the pattern of their daily lives. It s a fleeting moment during which they realize that they don t want to compromise anymore. And afterwards they realize that nothing ever really changes (Carson). From Simon Sinek s presentation, I learned that the best way to inspire others is by understanding how we lead and communicate with one another by focusing on what others can believe in. I tend to be very hard on myself when I am faced with an obstacle that I would consider a failure, but according to Kanter s Law is only considered a failure if you give up. It is important to remain engaged by pushing forward even if it takes longer than imagined because the mindset of not giving up is what Kanter considers a hallmark of leaders . This is an important key is many of us, including myself, tend to forget that not everything in life is perfect so it is important for us to keeping working harder to reach our goals. Kanter s other key, which I believe is extremely important to implement in our lives to lead positive change is to lift other up.
