Although literature is abundant on the assessment of vital signs or paediatric early warning
Scores (PEWS) in children most recent studies look at their effectiveness in relation to infection
(Bachur et al 2001, Brent et al 2011, Coghill and Simkiss 2011, Craig et al 2010, Opiyou and
English 2011, Thompson et al 2008, Thompson et al 2009 and van den Bruel 2005) these studies
also tend to focus on either those infants under three months or children between three months and
sixteen years. Also there are many studies that relate their effectiveness in detecting Paediatric
Intensive Care admission for already hospitalised children (Edgell et al 2008, Akre et al 2010,
Edwards et al 2008 and Duncan et al 2006)
Twelve articles were considered of which the majority were quantitative, but one was a small group
qualitative study using semi structured interviews by van den Bruel et al (2005). A study by
Thompson et al (2008) did use a questionnaire to elicit the data and information that was needed

From the scattered references made about the ancient Anasazi Indians in
Tony Hillerman s A Thief of Time, one can identify several cultural characteristics of this
mysterious tribe. One can discover how they lived, where they lived, their religion, simple day to
day activities, and mysteries about their culture. Even though many references are made about this
tribe, people will never know the truth, for there is an unsolved mystery to why the Anasazi
disappeared. Even to this day no one knows what happened to them.

The Romans constructed large and superb stone bridges in Rome. The first bridges were built
using stone blocks held together with iron clamps. The Romans then started using concrete since it

Driving down the 405 freeway will now be a different experience for myself. Prior to the
weekend of June 11, 2017, The Getty Museum was always a mystery. There are a several things
I really enjoyed about the museum. It was surprising to learn the Getty Center is free for
everyone that attends. When arriving we of course had to pay for parking, which was fifteen
dollars for an all day parking pass. With the parking pass, the museum allows you to leave and
return once within the same day. This is ideal for those who rather get food off the museum s
property. When arriving at the museum we rode on a six minute tram ride. The tram ride was
included in the price of parking. Walking up to the museum s entrance was an experience of its
own. The architecture was entertaining. There were several areas that grabbed the viewers
attention. After speaking to a museum employee, I was able to notice different areas with in the
museum. The architect used large pooped out stones to grab the viewers attention. These
pooped out stones provide a path to view points with in the museum. For example; one pooped
out stone showed a view of the Central Garden, another lead us to a view of Los Angeles. The
views were beautiful from the guided points. The museum was broke up into different pavilions.
Each pavilion had a different theme, it was very easy to locate each pavilion and artwork within
the building. One pavilion had a Changing Exhibition. While visiting the theme of the West
Pavilion was The Lure of Italy: Artist Views. I soon realized all areas of the museum change to
help protect the art on display. Areas of the Getty Museum included several painting galleries,
sculpture, decorative art galleries, architecture, gardens and of course the changing exhibits. While
walking through the buildings it was fascinating to see all the different styles of art on display.
Artists all have their own techniques when creating their expression of what they see. Many
paintings dated back to the 1700 s and seemed to have very little cracks or signs of age within the
paintings. While experiencing the painting galleries, I was hopeful to find a painting by both

gained through mistakes, and one may find themselves trapped in a maze like situation that they
need to find a way out of. However, making the best out of one s position through determination,
perseverance, and courage can slowly reverse the difficulty of handling it. Eventually, as strength is
regained from tough obstacles, the desire to obtain their dreams escalates even further, which aids
in working harder and striving to reach their goals. Barbara Ehrenreich, the author of Nickel and
Dimed, depicts the financial struggles of single mothers who raise their families through minimum
wagejobs after the welfare reform affected their lifestyles. In the novel, Ehrenreich tests the limits of
living in poverty by accepting any scarce job that was offered, and provides insight that although it
was exhausting to balance her needs and her hectic work schedule, by diligently laboring, constantly
persisting in seeking the better, and voicing out the wrongs, it can eventually lead to the attainment
of the American Dream. Through the struggles of stabilizing two jobs at once while searching for a
temporary home, Ehrenreich displayed the frustration of sticking to her three guidelines in her

many variations of culture. Cultural universals are traits, patterns, and elements that transcend
specific groups and can be applied to all known cultures (Macionis 2014). This idea implies that
mankind and its multiple cultures are interconnected by patterns of fulfilling human needs that
occur on a global scale. Specific examples of cultural universals extend from medicine to the family
unit. Though anthropologists and sociologists have found support for the existence of cultural
universals, the idea of these universal aspects of culture still draw criticism from critical and
postmodern scholars and by individuals who ascertain cultural universals are in a natural state of
opposition with cultural relativism.

The article Marketing: philosophy of science and epistobabble warfare is a commentary by the
author Michel Rod published as a qualitative research in an International Journal, Vol. 12 Iss. 2, pp.

not an easy paper that one could read and understand on the first go. If the topic is not within the
subject area of the reader, then the article further becomes an epistobabble full of isims and
schisms that one would have to ponder on for days.
There is no denying that the reader had to do additional research to fully comprehend Rod s
commentary on the philosophical perspectives involved in conducting a market research.
Nevertheless, by stating his background in medicine where research was/is conducted with less
philosophical debates, save ethical ones the transition for Rod to an area with documented
philosophies in search of truths was a transition for him.

I had the pleasure of meeting Devyn in November 2015. I asked whether he was able to be
interviewed by me, and he agreed. Devyn has worked in the Therapeutic Recreation field for 20

study sample included uninsured individuals, especially those who were in the high risk, low

short term and long term effects, such as improper brain development, impaired cognitive and
