understand how children learn. Bandura s theory is based on how people can learn by observing
others, how internal mental states influence people, and how learning something does not change one

A Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift, the authors use literary criticism so the reader can dissect the
many different literary elements such as symbolism and vivid ironic imagery that help explain the
parallel theme going on in both stories. To achieve a world with peace throughout and reach a state of
utopia some moral and ethical decay will take place. Both stories have social issues that test the
citizens moral and ethical beliefs throughout the story, and actually show how the society is decaying
because of what they are doing. The short story by Ursula Le Guin, is about a flawless utopian society
that puts all of its guilt onto the misery of a child who is locked away in a cellar broom closet in order

throughout the story is symbolism. Le Guin makes this child carry the burden of the society Omelas
symbolic to Jesus because in the Bible, Jesus dies on the cross and takes all of the sins away from the

casted and saved by written beliefs who promise to take these troubles and cast them away. It is being
given to a child who in return can give nothing back. This child didn t deserve this punishment and Le
Guin tells the reader that some people know about the child, but instead of trying to help they just
ignore the pain this child endures for them while they live their perfect life. Just like in the Bible,
Jesus did so much for his people and his disciples, but when he was on the cross no one came to help
him, and his people that he endured so much for just watched him die on the cross. This kid will live

Burma, also known as Myanmar, has been independent since 1948 and is involved in one of the world
s longest on going civil war. The British and Japanese occupation from 1924 to 1948 exacerbated
tensions between ethnic groups. The country is also characterised by its unstable political regime,
mainly military ones, and its diverse ethnic background. The main ethnic group are the Bamar and
occupy 60% of the land (Laoutsides and Ware, 2016). But no less than 135 ethnicities occupy the 40%
left. Identity in the country is seen as the main explanation as to why the country cannot solve its
political problems and is in constant conflict. We can wonder however to what extent can the conflict
be understood by solely focusing on identity.
If identity is an important factor in the emergence of tensions it is only one facet of the problem.
Alternative theories to the identity explanation on the causes of civil war are polarised between
grievance and greed theories (Ballentine and Nitzschke, 2003). However, it is possible to have a
complete understanding of the causes and dynamics of ethnic conflict when combining these two set
of theories together. Conflict arises from the grievance of an ethnic group but is then maintained by
the actors greed.

Years preceding the terrorist attack on the 11th of September 2001, the CIA and the United States Air
Force had already developed the facility to use aerial vehicles, piloted remotely, as weapons. Yet, it
was the occurrence of 9/11 that sparked the use of armed remote piloted aerial vehicles (better known
as drones) in the global War of Terror led by the United States. The purpose of this position paper is to
examine the legality of the covert armed drone program, specifically in the Federally Administered
Tribal Areas (FATA) in Pakistan. It will consider the extent of accuracy of the legal frameworks
relative to the drone program and targeted killings. To do so, exploring the context in which the United
States justifies its actions and military strategies regarding the Global War on Terror is important. This
paper will be providing a review of, amongst other references, two pieces of academic literature that
discuss the presence of drone warfare in Pakistan: Mark Mazzetti s The Way of the Knife: The CIA, A
