Background and Origin on Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome
SARS( Severe acute respiratory syndrome) Background/Intro/Origins SARS, also known as
severe acute respiratory syndrome was first found in Foshan, Guangdong in November of 2002.
SARS is a very new and rare disease. SARS was officially recognized as a threat by the World
Health Organization in March of 2003. This outbreak was the only one ever recorded of its type,
up until the recent Middle East Respiratory Syndrome. Scientists recognized SARS as a variation
of the coronavirus. In humans, the typical coronavirus is one of the many that cause the common
cold. In livestock, the virus is found to create serious and fatal diseases. Scientists believe that this
variation of the coronavirus originated from civets and the Horseshoe bat. Corona viruses are
known for their ability to mutate in order to spread among humans. Transmissions SARS is
transmitted through the droplets of vapour from coughing and sneezing. Contact with these
droplets and the objects the infected touched would also transmit SARS. Some scientists theorize
that SARS is an airborne spread virus. Epidemiological analysis also indicated that SARS was
spreaded along the routes of international air travel. Symptoms Fever Dry cough Shortness of
breath Chills Body aches and pains Nasal congestion Diarrhea Malaise (a general feeling of
discomfort) Muscular stiffness Loss of appetite Confusion Rashes Diagnosis Blood tests Blood

Erich Remarque s Magnum Of All Quiet On The Western Front
The First World War, or the ill named War to End all Wars, was one that brought hell to Earth and
mankind. For the first time in history, industry had appeared to make killing efficient. In static
trenches, young men from around the world were killed by artillery kilometres away, poison gas,
and disease. All nations in the conflict experienced the creation of a Lost Generation; men who lost
their lives, limbs, or the ability to live a normal life. Paul Baumer, the young German protagonist of
All Quiet on the Western Frontbecomes a member of this sad generation through his sad journey to
the ultimate elixir, death. In Erich Remarque s magnum opus All Quiet on the Western Front, Paul
Baumer is faced by various emotionally jarring tests that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the Germans repel the French, Paul and his company push back, and for a moment, turn from
men to animals. While running and killing Paul illustrates, We have lost all feeling for one
another. We can hardly control ourselves when our glance lights on the form of some other
men. We are insensible, dead men, who through some trick, some dreadful magic, are still able
to run and to kill (Remarque 55). This moment demonstrates the damage that has occurred. Paul
already considered himself a dead man, a men that has lost all humanity. It is this moment that is
the first step in the hero s slow demise, in which he loses all joy and hope. It is impossible for, in
the conditions described, to be able to return home; death becomes the only elixir. Hence, it only
takes two more events in his short life for Paul Baumer to realise this elixir. After the initial
French Offensive, Paul is given time to recover, getting leave and additional training. But, when
he returns back to the front, he reaches the climax of the journey, as he kills a man in close
quarters. While on a night expedition into No Man s Land, Baumer is surprised by a Frenchman,
but is able to swiftly recover and, to his understanding, kill him. But in the morning, Paul is
confronted with the truth: Then, he opens his eyes... The body is perfectly still without a sound,
the gurgle has ceased but his eyes cry and yell, all his life gathered together for

To What Extent Is the Conservative Party Still Committed...
TO WHAT EXTENT IS THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY STILL COMMITTED TO ITS
TRADITIONAL PRINCIPLES?
Since 1979 the conservative party has undergone significant changes from the traditional
conservative party which focused on ideas about human nature, order and pragmatism, first with
new right conservatism under Thatcher then with the current conservative party. The current
conservative party however, can be seen to still be committed to its traditional conservative
principles such as Euro scepticism and that they remain largely traditionalist. However there are
many ways in which the conservative party has changed such as taxation, education and the welfare
state.
One way the conservative party has changed is through taxation. Traditionally, the... Show more

Another way the party has deviated from traditional conservative principles is through education.
In contrast with the traditional elitist view on education by the conservatives, under Cameron
there has been a strong emphasis on the idea that everybody should be able to go to university if
their ability allows them too, supporting labours policies on scholarships to students from
disadvantaged backgrounds and also attempting to establish more apprenticeship jobs and work
experience jobs to encourage young people who perhaps wouldn t go to university to learn skills
that would provide a better future for them. However, the fact remains that the vast majority of
Cameron s conservatives graduated from private schools which does make the overview of the
party seem very elitist but, its policies and support for scholarship programmes seem to challenge
this idea and show that perhaps the conservative party has changed from that traditional view.
Another thing that shows that the conservative party has stuck to its traditional principles is the
fact that the party is still very traditionalist. The conservative party has always been very
traditionalist in its views and in many ways it still is today, little or no comment is made on social
issues such as gay adoption, the party

Essay On Cannabinoids
From time to time, people experience stress and anxiety in their life. Stress usually comes about
when undue demand is placed on the mind or body. This demand can cause you to develop
feelings of fear or uneasiness. Short term feelings of stress and anxiety can help build resiliency
and help you overcome tough situations. However, if stress and anxietyreach to the point where it
affects your ability to function in your daily life, a more serious issue has developed which should
be addressed. Cannabinoids induce varying responses on anxiety and fearrelated behaviors. Source
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21309120 Cannabisis perceived by many as a natural source
of anxiety and stress relief. Its presence in the body has an effect on stress levels through the

Mommy Book Report
Mom? Dad? Where do babies come from? asked one of my children not too long ago. You might
sense a little sarcasm if I say this is every parent s favorite question. We wait with anxiety for this
question to be asked! But let s be realistic: it is probably not every parent s preferred one. How
about, Dad? How do babies get into a mommy s tummy and how do they come out? This inquiry
certain triumphs over the previous one. Questions are formed as minds and hearts contemplate the
information they are exposed to. Answers are pursued when the human soul undergoes the
searching process to discover the meaning of life and God. Consequently, Nicodemus devoted
himself during the day reflecting on Jesus words and actions and the evening seeking... Show more

Furthermore, we acknowledge that children also have a need to be reborn in water and the
Spirit. Therefore, they are baptized as soon as possible because their parents, as well as the
Church, cannot deny them the gift of becoming children of God. Indeed, infant baptism testifies
that God says yes to us in love even before we can say yes to Him in faith while summoning the
community to look after and support one another s faith journey. Nevertheless, Baptism puts us on
the path of salvation and new life but does not guarantee that we will arrive at the end of this path.
Therefore, we must look for, encounter, and walk with Christ Jesus daily on this earth to heaven
journey. He is truly the Way, the Truth, and the Life that will guide, enlighten, and empower us.
Certainly, the Second Person of the Trinity became man for our salvation and offers us new life
through the sacraments, with the help of His Spirit, and in Him who is the True Vine. (Jn

So, You Re Planning On A Media Room Or Dedicated Home Theater
So, you re planning on a media room or dedicated home theater room. You need to know everything
about home theater seating. This guide will educate the home theater buyer on how to select and
purchase home theater seating.
Home Theater Room Dimensions:
The first thing a buyer needs to do is measure the theater room in it s entirety. Top four
considerations when buying home theater furniture.
The width of the viewing screen. The optimum viewing distance is 1.5 to 2 times the width of
your viewing screen. After you have decided this, you now know where to start your first row of
seats. Should I put a second row of seats in my theater? A second row may need a raised platform
at least 7 inches in order to see over the front row ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The advantage to these seats are that you can fit more of them in a limited space than recliners.
The most common use is placing these seats on a second row platform in home theater, apartment
building theaters, condo association theaters and home theaters that want to achieve the movie
theater look. Fixed theater seating is not as comfortable as recliners but it has its place in some
home theaters. The trend with apartment and condo complexes is to build a community theater for
the residents. This provides an amenity for community living. In this case, movie theater seating
makes sense so you can fit larger numbers of people in a smaller space. The viewing time is
usually limited to a few hours at a time versus home theaters where people tend to use for tv, movie
and gaming which extends the time utlization of the seats.
Pre Built Home Theater Seating Vs Special Order Seating
Pre Built Home Theater Seating For customers on a limited budget with limited time for delivery.
Pre built seating is seating that is normally in stock. The seating is pre built theater seating with
limited color choices. The most common color available in pre built seating is black leather/vinyl or
black leatherette. Most pre built seating is manual recline. What you see is what you get with pre
built seating. Special Order or Custom Theater Seating For customers with a little better budget that
have planned their lead time properly. In this case, you

The Theory Of Folk Psychology
Eliminative materialism (eliminativism) is an ontologically radical approach that claims that a
matured cognitive science will show that mental states that common sense takes for granted, such
as beliefs, do not exist (or do not have referents). Instead, it claims that these mental entities are
theoretical terms for the false theory of folk psychology(common sense psychology), which can be
defined as the cognitive ability to explain and predict the behaviour and mental state of other
people. In essence, the theory aims to discredit folk psychology by claiming that people will
discover that there is no neural basis to mental entities and thus, they are non existent. I shall argue
that there are significant fundamental flaws to both the arguments for eliminativism about
propositional attitudes and eliminativism about qualia (subjective experience). For the former, I
will argue that the eliminative materialist s theory theory is flawed and show that propositions
alone can discredit the position on philosophy of mind. This will lead to identifying the position as
self refuting. Furthermore, I will show that science itself has proven simulation theory to be true so
that I can discredit eliminative materialism. For the latter, I will argue that qualia exist due to
introspection. Combined, the deconstruction of eliminative materialism with regards to
propositional attitudeand qualia will show that the materialist position is flawed and should not be
agreed with.

Assessment And Care Provision Of Mrs. Amalie Jones
Assessment and Care Provision of Mrs.Amalie Jones.
This essay about 89 year old Mrs Amalie Jones will be a discussion of assessment and care provision
identified through the concept map in assessment one.Concepts from Miller s Functional
Consequences Theory of healthy ageing will be used to identify the risk factors which negatively
impacts on her function, safety and independence. Focus of this essay will be demonstrating how
the dignity of the client/patient can be maintained through dignified nursing care. The main purpose
of this assessment will be to protomote both problem solving and care provision including
prioritising.According to Miller s Functional Theory, not all the health issues are due to age related
changes, lot of them are a result of risk factors. These can be addressed and even prevented.
Nurses play a big role in the prevention of such problems.Amelie Jones has few age related
problems such as Macular Degeneration , Arthritis and risk factors due to lifestyle such as
Hypothyroidism, risk of fall, weight loss and depression. Nursing interventions will be person
centred and ethical.
Mrs Amalie Jones is an 89 year old widow. She lives alone and had to give up on lot of things of

Bone Of Blood And Macbeth Comparison

Destruction of Ambition and Power Throne of Blood and Macbeth have many similarities and
differences. These similarities and differences are shown through themes, characters, and plot. The
themes are similar because it is light vs dark. The characters are similar because of the supernatural
aspect, the insane wives, and the reluctant murder of the King and Lord. Macbeth takes actions that
have serious and destructive consequences for himself and for other characters in the play just like
Washizu in Throne of Blood. Once Macbeth and Washizu have committed an act in which they use
power for negative consequences, they both find it extremely difficult to keep themselves from

In opposition, there was not a clearly defined reason found in Throne of Blood. Macduff acted as a
representation of a righteous man, someone that put the benefit of others before his. Although
Macduff once admired Macbeth, he turned malicious after Macbeth murdered his family. In the
play, he acted as a judge of all evil acts. In Throne of Blood, Kurosawa purposely left the character
anonymous. He focused mostly on the inner struggle of the man and the morals that once governed
Washizu which turned into his greatest enemy after he started to murder. Washizu s attitude gave
little information about his thought process, but it was clarified through the symbolism of nature.
The change of atmosphere showed how he was losing his mind. When his wife turned crazy,
lightning split the sky in two. As the forest approached, darkness shadowed the whole city. These
foreshadowed the coming events and the confusion that was going on in his head. He was waiting
for an enemy to challenge him, but his ignorance led to his

Mandela In South Africa
President Mandela played a big role in stopping South Africans segregation problem. South Africa
several years ago favored white people over the native South Africans. Mandela used rugby and the
native children to help unite the country into one. He used the Springboks (the rugby team
representing South Africa) to coach younger kids in the slums. Francois, the captain of the team,
even said, I m glad I don t live here , when talking about how poor the slum conditions were. They
targeted younger children because their success with this population appealed to the public. This
was very smart of Mandela because this plan ended up working and all the South Africans who
jeered the Springboks initially, then cheered them on at the World Cup. The coaches visited the
youth living in the slums teaching them rugby. South Africaended up being the underdogs yet
beating two very talented team and ended up winning. Mandela knew he had to keep all his
Africaner employees to help stop the massive racism issue. All the government workers thought
they were being fired but he gave them the choice to stay or to leave. Many white peoplehated
Mandela, in fact, when he was released from prison someone said, It s that terrorist Mandela to
one of his rugby players. I envy Mandela s way of maintaining control. He could ve had all the
Africaners suffer for what they did to the native Africans. I don t get how someone who suffered

Bite Marks Weaknesses
Weaknesses of Bite Mark Analysis The lack of large scale systematic research and data collection
on the correlation between bite marks and dentition limits the degree to which bite marks can be
considered a unique character. By its nature, research concerning bite marks, especially on humans,
are difficult to conduct. Models using animal skinor wax are often used in bitemark research as well
as education. Though these models are a good tool for research, they cannot replace data sourced
from humans. A study has shown that examiners have a lower degree of reliability when
examining bite marks in animal skin versus those in wax (Whittaker, 1975). This decrease in
reliability can easily roll over to the examination of humanbite marks. Research also varies in their
findings: some negating their uniqueness (Bush, Bush, Sheets, 2010), while others support it
(Rawson, Ommen, Kinard, Johnson , Yfanits, 1984). These differing results can be attributed to the
sample size which the researchers used. Forensic odontologists lack sufficient data to conclusively
ascertain the prevalence of specific dental characteristics within a given population and thus have
difficulty providing scientifically proven probabilities of dentition patterns matching. A match is
described as specimens that could not be determined as distinguishable within measurement error
(Saks, Albright, Bohan, Bierer, Bowers, 2016, p. 558). However, it is found that the probability of
having matches

Essay on Tort Reform
Tort Law and Cases:
A Comparison of Two Cases and Their Potential Frivolity8/22/2010
|
Introduction
A tort is a civil wrong resulting in injury to a person or property ; that is brought before a court to
compensate the injured party (Bagley amp; Savage, 2010, pg 251). In order to prove an intentional
tort, the following conditions must be met: 1) Intent 2) Voluntary act by the defendant 3) Causation
4) Injury or Harm.
The following tort cases, Pearson v. Chung and Liebeck v. McDonalds, have been a pinnacle
poster child for tort reform in the United States. In 2002, frivolous lawsuits cost taxpayers over
$233 billion (Insideprison.com, 2006). What is considered a frivolous lawsuit? It is when an

Originally, Mr. Pearson sued Custom Cleaners for the loss of his pants, alleging claims of

Pearson amended his lawsuit and stated that he is not suing for lost pants , but only regarding the
Satisfaction Guaranteed sign. (Pearson 4). Mr. Pearson insists that the Satisfaction Guaranteed sign
is unconditional and limitless (Pearson 7). In addition, the claim tickets that are printed have
limitations on the back which further limit the unlimited guarantee that is provided by the signs

The Executive Branch
The years from the founding of our country to the civil war were tumultuous times. Precedents
were set, the power of the various branches of government was constantly called into question,
and issues like slavery and sovereignty split the country into factions. As the will of the people
changed, new political parties were formed to accommodate this; while irrelivant parties would
fade from public consciousness. At the time we reveled at our own ability to change power so
peacefully with every presidential election. Each new candidate represented different mindsets and
had completely different goals but amazingly the system we had so painstakingly designed to allow
power to shift in the government bloodlessly, was working. The same principles... Show more

The first president to really push the limits of presidential power was Andrew Jackson. He was
the first Democrat to be elected president. His first controversial move was his refusal to renew
the bank charter. This essentially killed the National bank, a veto power that no one had ever
thought or intended the president would have. Jackson then took all the money and put it into
state banks. So all at once he expanded national power and affirmed the power of the states to
regulate currency. He also managed to cause an economic crisis while he was at it. Next Jackson
ignored the supreme court decision that Georgia had no claim to the Native American lands
within it. This decision was in line with the desires of the people of Georgia, but it ignored the
power of the supreme court. Finally when South Carolina began refusing to pay the high Tariffs
on goods Jackson passed the force bill so he could send troops into the state to collects the tariffs.
This law not only affirmed the power of the executive branch but also the power of the federal
government over the states. With this bill he explicitly denied that nullification was a right of the
states. However with South Carolina threatening to secede Henry Clay stepped in with a
compromise to keep South Carolina in the union. All of Jackson s actions earned him the moniker
King Andrew the First as seen in a political cartoon showing him dressed in traditional clothing of a
monarch. These fears of oligarchical rule had been deeply prevalent in America since our separation
from England. They were present years before Jackson was elected when the Constitution was
being written, and they were still deeply ingrained in people s minds decades later. These lingering
Anti monarchy sentiments almost certainly contributed to the reluctance of the people

Comparing France and Us Criminal Justice System Essay
There many different criminal justice systems in the world today. Some that consists of many of
the same policies and some that are considerably different. In the case of France and the U.S.
there are a lot of similarities, but I will be focusing on the differences between each of their
systems. The aspects that I will be comparing are police, courts, the legal profession, legal
education, criminal procedural law, corrections, and juvenile justice and the advantages and
disadvantages of each.
The policing system in France is a lot different than the one in the U.S. In France there is one big
centralized police system run by the government. Unlike the fragmented police model, which is
found in the United States and is attributed to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another difference between the two countries is their court system. France does not practice
judicial review. In the United States, the Supreme Court has the principle responsibility of ruling on
the constitutionality of all laws. This kind of judicial review is not practiced in France (Terrill 232).
In France they have the Constitutional council which has nine members serving a nine year term,
they are responsible for election complaints and the legislation made in parliament. The advantage
of this is that it reduces the conflict of jurisdictions. But the disadvantage is that our Supreme Court
has a longer term than the Constitutional Council which allows more constant laws and fewer laws
that will contradict each other.
The aspect of legal profession and legal education is also extremely different. To become a judge
in France you must first obtain a law degree from a university law school. Next you must gain
admission to the National School for the Judiciary at Bordeaux (Terrill 236). After completing
this school, the candidate is now qualified to become a judge. The French system allows judges
to begin their profession at an early age which could be a disadvantage because of lack of
experience in the system, where judges in the United States are usually older and more
knowledgeable.
The legal education is noticeably different from America. In France, students enter a university

The Third Man
CARITA MARSILI
The Third Man (Reed, 1949) encompasses the notion that art is a derivative of pain, and is most
successful when the audience is overwhelmed with a state of lamenting sadness. Through variance
in narrative, form and tone, The Third Man reaches audiences critical understanding of art, and
challenges it in devious ways.
The style of the film takes on a classic film noir, depicting the rubbles of Vienna post war. This
world is reflexive of the theme that art is derived from pain. An American author, Holly Martins,
arrives to Vienna with hopes of meeting with his friend and finding literary inspiration, but
inevitably finds a world of despair. His friend has been mysteriously killed in a car crash and he
must find out the truth. With high key lighting, gorgeous depictions of Vienna post war, and an
excessive use of Dutch angles, a beautiful apprehension is strongly depicted throughout the film.
The film consequently uses its location as a representation for uneasiness. The final scene of the
film takes place on a hunt for Harry Lime in the sewers of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The porosity and volumetric characteristics of the materials were evaluated by volumetric
analyses. In both materials (Fig. 4), the Type IV N2 adsorption desorption isotherms with H1
type hysteresis corresponded to condensation and evaporation steps, and were characteristic of
periodic mesoporous materials. The textural properties of SBA 15, NH2 SBA 15 and Fe3O4
SBA 15 Cya Cit Au NPs have been summarized in Table 1. It is noteworthy that the surface area,
pore volume, and pore size decreased following the modification, confirming that the surface
modification occurred on the inner surface of the silica wall [23]. A considerable decrease in the
BET surface area upon grafting of cyanuric citric acid and Au nanocrystallites at the surface of the
functionalized SBA 15 material (B) clearly suggests that the cyanuric citric acid and Au
nanoparticles have been anchored on the inner surface of the mesopores.

Will Sewage Treatment Plants Have Effect On Water Birds ...
Will sewage treatment plants have effect on water birds persistence and distribution?
Longji Deng, 100189430, Group 8
Introduction:
Anthropogenic climate warming has elevated the global temperature, and it has risen faster during
the last 40 years. There is no doubt that the temperature change has affected the biological process
of birds such as wintering, migration and breeding. (K Meller 2016) Also the increasing
temperature can cause a poleward geographical distribution.( Rachael H, et al, 2006)
It is certain that artificial ponds have positive effect on water birds breeding and migration as
ponds can provide more food and a safe space, these factors finally result in changing the
distribution. (SГЎnchez Zapata J A, AnadГіn J D, Carrete M, et al. 2015) .
Sewage treatment plants are really common and important infrastructures as they play a
significant part in daily life. Almost every river people can find at least one plants. Due to they

Diffusion tensor (DT) imaging allows measurement of the random motion of water molecules and
provides information about cellular integrity and pathology. In a highly ordered white matter tract,
water molecules diffuse faster in the direction parallel to the tract than in the perpendicular
direction, thats because the transverse diffusion is restricted by axonal membranes and myelin
sheaths [21]. In contrast to isotropic diffusion where diffusion is equal in all directions, diffusion
with a strong directional preference is called anisotropic diffusion [8]. DT imaging is useful for
identification and estimation of neural tracts integrity at the subcortical level [7]. Also, the new
technique of DT tractography allows the visualization of the integrity of the corticospinal tract
(CST), which is the major neuronal pathway that controls voluntary movements and is the most
important motor pathway for predicting motor outcome in the human brain [22]. Patients with
vestibular symptoms had lower fractional anisotropy values in the distinct regions than control
subjects with no symptoms. We used fractional anisotropy values from DTI MRI to measure
damage to the brain s signal transmitting white matter (WM). It had been clear that, the lower the
fractional anisotropy, the greater the damage to the tissue of WM underlying vestibulopathy with

The Political and Social Changes in Western Europe Essay
Western European people had endured a series of changes during the late medieval period.
Changes can be categorized into two aspects: politically and socially. On politics, Popes were not
as strong as they were due to conflicts between the state and the church. Socially, people began to
live a religion dominated life, and experienced active sexism towards women. These changes,
either positive or negative, have become an undivided part of European History. People faced the
rise and the fall of the Catholic Churchduring the medieval time. The Popesused to hold the final
authority for the church and over the state. PopeGregory VII asserted the Pope had granted the

King Philip s advisers challenged the Pope by quoting the Roman Law, which stated that the
King of France was completely sovereign in his kingdom and responsible to God alone (McKay,
364). Not long King Phillip arrested Pope Boniface VIII in Italy and had foreshadowed later
conflicts between the church and the state in the 14th century. The decline of church power
became even more apparent during the Babylonian Captivity (1309 1376). Pope Clement V s
agreement on King Philip s request of settlement in Avignon in southwestern France first signified
the Pope s leadership and authority had been weakened. Furthermore, after Gregory XI s death,
Urban VI (1378 1389) had been planning on church reform, but his endorsement of opposition
among the hierarchy had triggered a serious of disaster. As a result, Cardinal Robert of Geneva
was elected to be Pope and took the name Clement VII. The situation became two popes in office:
Urban at Rome and the anti pope Clement VII at Avignon, hence marked the beginning of the Great
Schism. France immediately recognized the antipope Clement while Aragon, Castile and Portugal
follow suit. For England, they recognized Urban VI and the

Replacing Amputated Limbs with Prosthetics
CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION Prosthetic limb is an artificial device that is used to replace
the amputated part of the patient s limb. Myo prosthetic limb takes the signals from the patient s
muscles, which are live, to operate the artificial limb that is being used to replace the amputated
part of the arm. Through the mechanical and electrical technologies applications it tries to copy
the movement of the actual limb. In most cases, the bicep or triceps muscles can be used to
retrieve those signals which are to be processed further through circuitry. Other than that, any
other muscle that is active and can give the slight electrical signal can be used to process the
signal. Myo prosthetic limb comprises of electrical portion, that is the circuitry, as well as the
mechanical portion that is the actuator and gripper. The signals that are received can be used to
actuate the gripper through which any object can be picked, held and released as per the
requirement of the patient. Multiple prototypes were developed and improved in the previous
years. But they needed few improvements to make them work perfectly. The improvements were
done this year. The signal acquisition and gripper actuation were improved which resulted in the
more efficient response of the limb. The response of the gripper was greatly improved as well.
The overall reliability of the system was increased significantly and was brought to a level where
it could be represented as a product. The circuitry was

Essay on The Effects of Domestic Violence on Child Behavior
The Effects of Domestic Violence on Child Behavior The United States Department of Health
and Human Services found parents and other caretakers mistreat 900,000 children in the case of
child abuse (as cited in Moylan et al., 2010). Children can be abused directly or indirectly.
Indirect abuse can be exposure to violence enacted by the mother or father towards each other
(Baldry, 2007). As for direct abuse, this can include physical, sexual or psychological abusedone
personally to the child. Research conducted by Jaffe, Sudermann, Reitzel, and McDonald Jouriles,

Sternberg et al., (1993) found that there is some evidence that children who are victims and/or
witnesses of domestic violence have more social and emotional problems than their non abused .
Some children can be shy and stay way from adults and other children. They can be physically
abused and feel that because their parents hurt them other adults can hurt them also. Other children
exposed to abuse might take out the abuse on other children. They start bullying children in the
neighborhood or children in their classroom. Some children might feel that because they see
violence at home that it is all right for them to so violence in other setting. Bulling is a big issue
in schools. It does not mean that bullies come from domestic homes, but it s might be one of the
reasons. Another way a child might act out due to abuse is getting in trouble with the law. They
might start hanging out with the wrong group of people and doing things that is frowned upon by
authorities. They do not care about what happens to them and do what their friends think is all
right. They release their behavior with violence. They become short tempered and argue or fight

First is a whole new menu to all restaurants in all cities. To introduce all new products to the menu
simultaneously. And relaunch versions of customer favorites.
Next are brand new marketing strategies. This includes redesigned product packaging, an enhanced
service model, contemporary staff uniforms, a new store design, and digital

Chocolate Syrup and Milk
Introduction: We were testing the solubility of the chocolate syrup brands while being stirred in
whole milk. Our purpose is to see which of the major brands of syrup is most soluble and for
what reason. This is important to our daily lives because it makes us aware of what types of
materials we are ingesting and this applies to our experiment by seeing which of the ingredients
take longer to dissolve. Information known is all brands are known to dissolve in milk but they all
use different ingredients and they will cause a difference in the time it takes to dissolve. New
information that will be gained from this experiment is which ingredients inside chocolate syrup
will take the longest to dissolve, from the type of sugars in it to the syrups. We expected the
Nesquik to dissolve the fastest because it did not contain any high fructose corn syrupwhile the
other brand of syrup did. Also we observed from the syrups that nesquik was very thin, while the
others were very thick and slow in behaviour. Our hypothesis is that the Nesquik will disintegrate
the fastest in the milk because it lacks High Fructose Corn Syrup.

For the purpose of this discussion, I will discuss situations like the prisoner dilemma, in which

dilemma refers to a conflict in doing what is best for one s own interest over what is in the best
interest of the group; therefore, doing what is needed to receive the least amount of jail time for

Chipotle Mexican Grill Industry Analysis
In 1993, Steven Ells opened a taqueria in Denver, Colorado built on the idea of offering the
highest quality food with an open kitchen concept. This restaurant was named Chipotle Mexican
Grill (CMG or Chipotle) and competes in what is defined as the fast casual segment. The fast
casual segment offers consumers a portable convenient meal option while focusing on using the
freshest, highest quality ingredients to prepare the customizable made to order meals
(Subramanian, 2013). There are two other restaurant segments in which fast casual restaurants
compete: full service and quick service. According to a conference call on October 18, 2012,
CMG began recognizing its slowing sales, increased competition and rising foodcost during a
depressed economy. Since then, CMG s sustainability and business strategy have been questioned as
to whether CMG can continue operations as a major competitor while regaining its financial health.

will charge more money for the more complex processes, so the cost of these procedures are not

By having a written statement, you are sure to have a reminder of the ideals you want to be pushing

shared with a few people because it increases your accountability. If you are the only one aware
of your leadership principles, you don t need to worry about others calling you out on doing
something against your values since no one has knowledge of them. On the other hand, if you are
loosing your sense of direction, a person who has seen your leadership philosophy statement can
nudge you back in the right direction. The objectives you want to deliver and the values you want

Essay on Marriage in the Victorian Age
Many people believe that marriage is important in this day and age, but it holds little significance
compared to the importance of marriage in the Victorian era. In the Victorian era women were to
get married to a man of the same or a better social status, be good wives, and be a mother to her
husband s children. Very few marriages started with love, but a womans life is not complete without
being married. Over time, the role of married women has evolved a great deal and they now have
rights and privileges. John Stuart Millwas one of the great thinkers of the Victorian era, and his

Feminists ought to get a good whipping. Were woman to unsex themselves by claiming equality
with men, they would become the most hateful, heathen and disgusting of beings and would surely
perish without male protection (Moore).
There are many different reasons why women got married in the Victorian era. First and foremost
was due to the lack of education. Women were usually uneducated or were taught only basic
responsibilities. If a woman had too much education, Victorians thought that it would weaken
their womb and deform their bodies (Moore). From early childhood, girls were taught that they
should get married and have children when they get older (Hamilton). The little education that
women got was received mostly at home. There were some boarding schools, but there was no
university for women to attend. The studies that a girl would learn were French, drawing,
dancing, music, and how to use globes. If the boarding school was interested in teaching any
practical skills, girls would learn plain sewing as well as embroidery, and accounts. Through
knowledge and education a woman could have had a better sense of self worth and pride. On the
contrary, boys were well educated at home by a tutor until they were old enough to attend public

The Inequality Between Races, Lynching And Unemployment
orn in Richmond, Virginia 1912, Dorothy Height grew up in a period of time where inequality
between races, lynching and unemployment were the realities of everyday life. Both of her
parents were extremely active in organizations, and taught her that she was in competition with
no one but herself, ensuring she understood the firm line of appreciation of her responsibility to
other people. Height learned about discrimination from a very young age. When she was just 9

Height was black. Height attended an integrated school, where she was a talented straight A

mission, goals and culture. What works for one organization may not work for the next. In my

But now in the Navy I currently work on a 200 ton ship. My work environment is arduous,
industrious and at times very dangerous. I would definitely say that the typical management
practices don t work for my work environment. But fortunately some of them do work and they
work very well.
Being in the military, most military members don t have the traditional jobs, work schedules, and
working environment. When deployed I can work up to 18 hours days up to 7 days a week.
Working such grueling scheduling it takes remarkable leadership and management skills to keep
individuals in my work environment working steadily and keep morale at optimal levels. Within the
military one of the most important theories in management is the Behavioral Management Theory.
The Behavioral Management Theory works well within the military because it emphasizes
understanding of human behavior at work, such as motivation, conflict, expectations, and group
dynamics, improved productivity. In the military, especially during times of war it is crucial to
understand human emotions and behaviors. For example, in the Navy we are literally a floating

The Problem Of Gangs And Violence
The problem of gangs and violence are commonly found in Chicago, especially during the night
time. Although the rate seems to be lower compared to the past, the violence rate is still shocking
compared to other states. Therefore, violence in Chicago s neighborhoods and communities cannot
be overlooked. Statistics show that 1,109 school aged youth were shot, and 216 of those were
killed in 2010. As a student of UIC, I often receive crimealert emails as violencecases seemed to
occur quite often around the campus area. In order to improve the public security to ensure
residents safety, it is essential to find ways to solve these issues. It is because violence can cause
negative effects in many different aspects. Besides individual s physical well being, it may also
lead to some long term psychological problems; such as anxiety, eating and sleeping problem.
Moreover, violence also affects the communityas it became unsafe to live in. The value of the
properties will decrease because the quality of life became worse.
These days, Chicago launched a cure violence program to help prevent the violence, and this
program is managed by the Chicago Project. The social problem this community intervention is
trying to remedy is to lower down the cases of shooting and killings on the streets. As it could be

Rene Descartes Meditations Of Philosophy
Philosophy 120: Knowledge and Reality
Submitted to Dogan Erisen D106
By: Milad Marghoob Zamany (301 314 568)
Descartes begins the Meditations of Philosophy by rendering the use of the senses as deceptive,
explaining that everything that he had perceived up till now, I accepted as most true I have
acquired either from the senses or through the senses (M.O.P,12). On the other hand, Descartes
admits that God has given us the involuntary use of these senses. If the senses cannot precisely
represent the nature of material bodies, would this not make god a deceiver? Would it not be a
wiser choice to make the intellect the essential means of perceiving the world? Descartes pursues
the idea that God cannot be a deceiver; but if God ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sensory perception is beneficial to the body, by granting us the ability to rationalize whether
something is threat to us. However, intellect is crucial is observing the true nature of
proportions, but only go so far. Descartes resolves the conflict of whether God is deceiving us or
not, by explaining that our senses allow us to perceive harm and allow us to avoid danger for our
own well being. In other words, God is merely giving us the most apparent way of avoiding harm
for our own benefit. Thus, eliminating the idea of a deceiving

Returning to School Essay
Wanting to return to school has been a dream for a long time. I am starting out a little late, at 45
years old, but I have finally found my passion, working in education. Since the age of thirteen, I
have been working multiple jobs day and night, only to still be below the poverty line; stuck in
survival mode for so long now that I need to have a permanent positive change that will help me
accomplish more than I ever have. The reason for me going back to school is to get certified so I
may become a teacher. Our low income was the culprit on pushing me to get started. I have been
struggling for so long that now it is time for me to make a real difference in my life and those
around me, hopefully resulting in an increase in my... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While doing everything, I have been the only income, and support for my family, working three
jobs, and volunteering for the PHS Band Boosters. Stress is high at home, and I just do not feel
welcome. Our power was turned off, the phone and internet have already been disconnected, the
house is a mess, the cars are breaking down, and we have no clothes, or shoes that are decent,
and no money to buy any. I cannot afford to have the trash hauled off, so we live with piles of
garbage outside and inside. I am two months behind on the rent, and we live out of the local food
banks for our food. I m so embarrassed of how we live that I won t let anyone come over to visit.
I hear the kids and my husband saying that they blame me for how we live. It s my fault that I
am not home to keep things clean, or help with their homework, or that I am not bringing in
enough money to pay the bills. I have to fight each day just to prove myself, to those closest to
me. At this time the best that I can do, is to talk with one of the counselors at school, to see if
they may be able to help us out as a family. Working with so many different types of people
throughout the years, has taught me that there is a way if it is important enough to you. Giving up
is not an option In order for this to work a serious change at home will need to take place, getting
everyone back on track, and setting their priorities straight. I will need

Blake chose to use a children s song, similar to many nursery rhymes, to explain a theological
matter, in terms that even a child can understand. He begins by asking the age old question:
Who made thee? This initiates the thought process in the reader, causing the reader to begin to
ponder this same question, even if he or she is not conscious of it. He continues to describe all
of the many blessing and provisions the lamb has. This again causes the reader to look
introspectively at his or her own blessings and provisions. He then answers the question by using
God s own words to describe Himself, drawing the parallel between the creator and the created.
Mr. Blake explains how God both became a child, and calls Himself a Lamb, relaying the truth to
his audience that God reveals Himself to His creation through His

  • 2. Background and Origin on Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome SARS( Severe acute respiratory syndrome) Background/Intro/Origins SARS, also known as severe acute respiratory syndrome was first found in Foshan, Guangdong in November of 2002. SARS is a very new and rare disease. SARS was officially recognized as a threat by the World Health Organization in March of 2003. This outbreak was the only one ever recorded of its type, up until the recent Middle East Respiratory Syndrome. Scientists recognized SARS as a variation of the coronavirus. In humans, the typical coronavirus is one of the many that cause the common cold. In livestock, the virus is found to create serious and fatal diseases. Scientists believe that this variation of the coronavirus originated from civets and the Horseshoe bat. Corona viruses are known for their ability to mutate in order to spread among humans. Transmissions SARS is transmitted through the droplets of vapour from coughing and sneezing. Contact with these droplets and the objects the infected touched would also transmit SARS. Some scientists theorize that SARS is an airborne spread virus. Epidemiological analysis also indicated that SARS was spreaded along the routes of international air travel. • 3. Erich Remarque s Magnum Of All Quiet On The Western Front The First World War, or the ill named War to End all Wars, was one that brought hell to Earth and mankind. For the first time in history, industry had appeared to make killing efficient. In static trenches, young men from around the world were killed by artillery kilometres away, poison gas, and disease. All nations in the conflict experienced the creation of a Lost Generation; men who lost their lives, limbs, or the ability to live a normal life. Paul Baumer, the young German protagonist of All Quiet on the Western Frontbecomes a member of this sad generation through his sad journey to the ultimate elixir, death. As the Germans repel the French, Paul and his company push back, and for a moment, turn from men to animals. While running and killing Paul illustrates, We have lost all feeling for one another. We can hardly control ourselves when our glance lights on the form of some other men. We are insensible, dead men, who through some trick, some dreadful magic, are still able to run and to kill (Remarque 55). This moment demonstrates the damage that has occurred. Paul already considered himself a dead man, a men that has lost all humanity. It is this moment that is the first step in the hero s slow demise, in which he loses all joy and hope. It is impossible for, in the conditions described, to be able to return home; death becomes the only elixir. Hence, it only takes two more events in his short life for Paul Baumer to realise this elixir. After the initial French Offensive, Paul is given time to recover, getting leave and additional training. But, when he returns back to the front, he reaches the climax of the journey, as he kills a man in close quarters. While on a night expedition into No Man s Land, Baumer is surprised by a Frenchman, but is able to swiftly recover and, to his understanding, kill him. But in the morning, Paul is confronted with the truth: Then, he opens his eyes... Since 1979 the conservative party has undergone significant changes from the traditional conservative party which focused on ideas about human nature, order and pragmatism, first with new right conservatism under Thatcher then with the current conservative party. The current conservative party however, can be seen to still be committed to its traditional conservative principles such as Euro scepticism and that they remain largely traditionalist. However there are many ways in which the conservative party has changed such as taxation, education and the welfare state. One way the conservative party has changed is through taxation. Traditionally, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another way the party has deviated from traditional conservative principles is through education. In contrast with the traditional elitist view on education by the conservatives, under Cameron there has been a strong emphasis on the idea that everybody should be able to go to university if their ability allows them too, supporting labours policies on scholarships to students from disadvantaged backgrounds and also attempting to establish more apprenticeship jobs and work experience jobs to encourage young people who perhaps wouldn t go to university to learn skills that would provide a better future for them. However, the fact remains that the vast majority of Cameron s conservatives graduated from private schools which does make the overview of the party seem very elitist but, its policies and support for scholarship programmes seem to challenge this idea and show that perhaps the conservative party has changed from that traditional view. Another thing that shows that the conservative party has stuck to its traditional principles is the fact that the party is still very traditionalist. The conservative party has always been very traditionalist in its views and in many ways it still is today, little or no comment is made on social issues such as gay adoption, the party ... This demand can cause you to develop feelings of fear or uneasiness. Short term feelings of stress and anxiety can help build resiliency and help you overcome tough situations. However, if stress and anxietyreach to the point where it affects your ability to function in your daily life, a more serious issue has developed which should be addressed. Cannabinoids induce varying responses on anxiety and fearrelated behaviors. • 8. The Theory Of Folk Psychology Eliminative materialism (eliminativism) is an ontologically radical approach that claims that a matured cognitive science will show that mental states that common sense takes for granted, such as beliefs, do not exist (or do not have referents). Instead, it claims that these mental entities are theoretical terms for the false theory of folk psychology(common sense psychology), which can be defined as the cognitive ability to explain and predict the behaviour and mental state of other people. In essence, the theory aims to discredit folk psychology by claiming that people will discover that there is no neural basis to mental entities and thus, they are non existent. I shall argue that there are significant fundamental flaws to both the arguments for eliminativism about propositional attitudes and eliminativism about qualia (subjective experience). For the former, I will argue that the eliminative materialist s theory theory is flawed and show that propositions alone can discredit the position on philosophy of mind. This will lead to identifying the position as self refuting. Furthermore, I will show that science itself has proven simulation theory to be true so that I can discredit eliminative materialism. For the latter, I will argue that qualia exist due to introspection. Combined, the deconstruction of eliminative materialism with regards to propositional attitudeand qualia will show that the materialist position is flawed and should not be agreed with. Mandela used rugby and the native children to help unite the country into one. He used the Springboks (the rugby team representing South Africa) to coach younger kids in the slums. Francois, the captain of the team, even said, I m glad I don t live here , when talking about how poor the slum conditions were. They targeted younger children because their success with this population appealed to the public. • 12. Bite Marks Weaknesses Weaknesses of Bite Mark Analysis The lack of large scale systematic research and data collection on the correlation between bite marks and dentition limits the degree to which bite marks can be considered a unique character. By its nature, research concerning bite marks, especially on humans, are difficult to conduct. Models using animal skinor wax are often used in bitemark research as well as education. Though these models are a good tool for research, they cannot replace data sourced from humans. A study has shown that examiners have a lower degree of reliability when examining bite marks in animal skin versus those in wax (Whittaker, 1975). This decrease in reliability can easily roll over to the examination of humanbite marks. Research also varies in their findings: some negating their uniqueness (Bush, Bush, Sheets, 2010), while others support it (Rawson, Ommen, Kinard, Johnson , Yfanits, 1984). These differing results can be attributed to the sample size which the researchers used. Forensic odontologists lack sufficient data to conclusively ascertain the prevalence of specific dental characteristics within a given population and thus have difficulty providing scientifically proven probabilities of dentition patterns matching. A match is described as specimens that could not be determined as distinguishable within measurement error (Saks, Albright, Bohan, Bierer, Bowers, 2016, p. 558). So all at once he expanded national power and affirmed the power of the states to regulate currency. He also managed to cause an economic crisis while he was at it. Next Jackson ignored the supreme court decision that Georgia had no claim to the Native American lands within it. This decision was in line with the desires of the people of Georgia, but it ignored the power of the supreme court. Finally when South Carolina began refusing to pay the high Tariffs on goods Jackson passed the force bill so he could send troops into the state to collects the tariffs. In the United States, the Supreme Court has the principle responsibility of ruling on the constitutionality of all laws. This kind of judicial review is not practiced in France (Terrill 232). In France they have the Constitutional council which has nine members serving a nine year term, they are responsible for election complaints and the legislation made in parliament. The advantage of this is that it reduces the conflict of jurisdictions. But the disadvantage is that our Supreme Court has a longer term than the Constitutional Council which allows more constant laws and fewer laws that will contradict each other. The aspect of legal profession and legal education is also extremely different. To become a judge in France you must first obtain a law degree from a university law school. Next you must gain admission to the National School for the Judiciary at Bordeaux (Terrill 236). After completing this school, the candidate is now qualified to become a judge. In a highly ordered white matter tract, water molecules diffuse faster in the direction parallel to the tract than in the perpendicular direction, thats because the transverse diffusion is restricted by axonal membranes and myelin sheaths [21]. In contrast to isotropic diffusion where diffusion is equal in all directions, diffusion with a strong directional preference is called anisotropic diffusion [8]. DT imaging is useful for identification and estimation of neural tracts integrity at the subcortical level [7]. Also, the new technique of DT tractography allows the visualization of the integrity of the corticospinal tract (CST), which is the major neuronal pathway that controls voluntary movements and is the most important motor pathway for predicting motor outcome in the human brain [22]. Myo prosthetic limb takes the signals from the patient s muscles, which are live, to operate the artificial limb that is being used to replace the amputated part of the arm. Through the mechanical and electrical technologies applications it tries to copy the movement of the actual limb. In most cases, the bicep or triceps muscles can be used to retrieve those signals which are to be processed further through circuitry. Other than that, any other muscle that is active and can give the slight electrical signal can be used to process the signal. • 28. Chocolate Syrup and Milk Introduction: We were testing the solubility of the chocolate syrup brands while being stirred in whole milk. Our purpose is to see which of the major brands of syrup is most soluble and for what reason. This is important to our daily lives because it makes us aware of what types of materials we are ingesting and this applies to our experiment by seeing which of the ingredients take longer to dissolve. Information known is all brands are known to dissolve in milk but they all use different ingredients and they will cause a difference in the time it takes to dissolve. New information that will be gained from this experiment is which ingredients inside chocolate syrup will take the longest to dissolve, from the type of sugars in it to the syrups. We expected the Nesquik to dissolve the fastest because it did not contain any high fructose corn syrupwhile the other brand of syrup did. Also we observed from the syrups that nesquik was very thin, while the others were very thick and slow in behaviour. Our hypothesis is that the Nesquik will disintegrate the fastest in the milk because it lacks High Fructose Corn Syrup. Materials Procedures: Materials: 1. Hershey s Chocolate Syrup 2.
