The Field Of Psychology Ranks
First let me start off by congratulating you on your terrific work. Your commitment to the field
of psychology ranks amongst the best and your work has stood the test of time. I know you are
unaware of the impact you will have in this field, but let me tell you that your work is still
highly regarded. Your work has been used by many professionals and educators to help
individuals throughout the years. Professionals have used your gestalt principles to expand their
industries by creating their own logos. As the years have and continue to pass every individual
have seen or used your gestalt principles even when they are not aware of it. As you left your
country and came to the United States, you left behind a legacy but continued to create one in a
different world. You faced a new chapter in your life when you came to the United States but it
was a time where you played a great role in emerging psychology. Because of the gestalt migration
was a time where the United States gained great talent. That s where everything started and many
psychologist and professionals started to know more about your work and started to engage and
research more on it. Gestalt theory has been a successful theory for many years and continues its
way to improvement. Your Gestalt theory, any type of illusion not just movement, has been very
successful in a way that individuals see things a certain way rather than a whole. Your five

Mermaid Research Papers
Mermaids are legends that have been among us for years; moreover, to understand the legends,
one must look at their history, their mystical powers and their distinct descriptions. Mermaids,
Mermen, and Merbabys are making more of an appearance in our waters than they ever have.
These mystical creatures are swimming back into our world. Mermaids originated from aquatic
ape s years ago when dinosaurs still roamed our earth. As Tim Chaffey stated, Our supposed ape
like ancestors started living near the oceans, and the narrator informs viewers that this is where our
advanced intelligence began to develop thanks to the brain building nutrients like iodine and fatty
acids so abundant in the shellfish gathered there, their brain capacity and... Show more content on

Mermaids have multiple human bodily functions and multiple fish bodily functions to support their
bodies and keep their have fish and have human bodies healthy and running. As Irene Ziegler has
stated, When a real mermaid is underwater, that third eyelid closes over her eyes like a window
shade pulled from the side of the sash. The mermaids third eyelid serves to let the mermaids
keep their sight while living beneath water for most of their lives. Without their third eyelid,
Mermaid s eyes could potentially dry out and they would be blinded for over 50% of their lives.
These mystical creatures also have a tail covered in aquatic fish scales. These scales that surround
the mermaids tail help protect it from predatory attacks and can also to show the origin of that
specific mermaid. Inside the top human half of a mermaid is an aquatic respiratory system.
Without these aquatic respiratory system mermaids wouldn t be able to breath underwater or stay
underwater for long periods of time. Basically, the mermaid would be a human with a fish tale.
Mermaids also have a heart, lungs, and all other anatomy that a human has, but their body can
survive the intake of great amounts of water. Unlike humans, mermaids use their outrageous bodily
abilities to thoroughly embrace life. The third eyelid that helps them see underwater and prevents
eye dryness, fish scales that prevents injuries from predatory attacks, and an aquatic respiratory
system to allow the animal to live and breathe underwater, all work together to allow the mermaid
to create a life strictly under ground

Pros And Cons Of Single Transferable Voting System
Every three years the Australian Senate is reelected using the single transferable voting system.
In this system, voters rank the list of candidates by order of preference to fill spots in a multi
member district. Then a quota is set based on the number of votes cast and the number of Senate
seats to fill. If any candidate receives more votes than the quota, they receive a seat. Any surplus
votes are then transferred to second choice candidates to see if they reach the quota, and so on until
all Senate seats are filled. In reality, single transferable votingis not a perfect electionsystem.
Because it does not follow the independence of irrelevant alternatives criteria of Arrow s theorem,
there is always a chance that the system could result

Causes Of Human Trafficking In Thailand
Human Trafficking in Thailand
Thailand is located in Southeast Asia, surrounded by numerous of bodies of water, such as the
Andaman Sea, and the Gulf of Thailand. According to the C.I.A website, which is a United States
government website that offers information about different countries and monitors their activities,
Thailand s government was a constitutional monarchy from 1932 to 2005. Thailand experienced
intense government turmoil due to a military coup and several large scale political street protests
from 2008 to 2010 (C.I.A). As a result of the unrest among the citizens, it caused corruption from
the government, which meant that often times human trafficking is overlooked to not only promote
the increase of economy, but also increase the workforces in the country(C.I.A). Reported by The
Global Slavery Index, which is a global organization that conducts research and surveys in various
countries, it shows that, 425,500 people or 0.63% of the total population live in conditions of
modern slavery in Thailand. This creates different national issues such as a human rights violation
and also social issues such as communities being torn apart due to separation of families, but there
are different solutions out there that are easing the challenges of human trafficking. As a nation,
Thailand s economy has been gradually increasing; however, it still faces large national debt and
high unemployment rate overall (C.I.A). This leads to the government trying to find

A War Does Not Require Weapons
Acosta, Alejandro Rachel History 4C7/July 2015 A War does not Require Weapons In between
the timeline of World War One and World War Two, political leaders, states, and nations were
fighting against each other with and without the usage of weapons. The ideology of great
philosophers, and raising leaders, such as: Herbert Spencer, Leon Trotsky, Joseph Stalin, Great
Britain, and Russia brought civil wars and battles during the small timeframe between world
wars. Before we go into depth on the one 30 year war, we begin with the settings of this one 30
year war. In the beginning of the 19th century, European powerhouses, France and Russia, obtained
the same equal power. At the same period, Germany s industry began to grow tremendously which
brought rival, Britain. Germany s economics in industrial were growing due to the exports of
heavy materials, and beneficially to politicians running the state. The economic growth of Germany
lead them to create the Triple Alliance in 1882. The reason for this secret agreement between
Germany, Austria Hungry, and Italy was because Germany felt that its economic growth would
lead to war with their rivals. In response to the Triple Alliance 1882, the Triple Entente of 1894
was created by France, Russia, and Great Britain. Nevertheless, Germany was thinking in advanced,
and planed the Schlieffen. A plan that Germany created, if war would to break out, to attack France

Essay about Literary Devices Used in the Raven by Edgar...
Analysis of the Raven by Edgar Allen Poe The nineteenth century poet Edgar Allen Poe makes use
of several literary devices in order to create a gloomy atmosphere in his poem The Raven .
Alliteration, rhyme, onomatopoeia, assonance, and repetition are used to contribute to the melodic
nature of the work and provide an almost visual representation of his gothic setting. Poe is a master
of using these writing techniques. The Ravenis one of his most popular works. This is certainly due,
in part to his use of these literary devices in this piece. The poem tells of a narrator who is reading
an old book in his parlor when he is interrupted by a knock at the door. The protagonist is in a
period of grieving over the loss of his love,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many other internal rhymes are also found within the lines of the poem. In fact, the first line of the
poem contains an internal rhyme Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary .
Another example is found in Line 31 which reads Back into the chamber turning, all my soul within
me burning, The poem is rife with such examples.
Poe also uses repetition to accentuate the musical quality of The Raven . Obviously, the
repeating of the word nevermore is used throughout the work not only to convey a sense of
musicality, but to suggest the melancholy theme of this piece due to the connotations that the
word expresses (lines 48, 54, 60, 72, etc.). Poe also uses repetition in other sections of the poem.
In lines 16 and 17, we read Tis some visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door; Some late
visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door; In these lines, we get the impression that the
speaker is trying to reassure himself that there is no sinister force at work, but simply a visitor at
his door. Edgar Allen Poe was extremely talented at choosing words which not only support the
fluidity of the work while also reinforcing the tone.
Alliteration is another literary device which is used throughout The Raven . Alliteration is the
repetition of beginning consonant sounds. The Raven is full of examples of alliteration. An
instance of this device is seen in line 26, in which the d sound is repeated: Doubting, dreaming

Elijah The Prophet By Elijah
Elijah the Prophet
I have decided to write my Old Testament essay on the mysterious prophet Elijah. According to
the bible, in the book of Kings, Elijah was not only a devoted prophet of God, but he also served as
a worker who lived in the northern kingdom of Israel, under King Ahab s reign. Elijah is
remembered for his remarkable faith and devotion to God. In writing this essay, I will tell the
story of one the many adventures that occurred in Elijah s lifetime. Of course, there are so many
alterations and rewritten versions of the bible, that I have no idea what to believe. No one truly
knows what happened, for everyone who could have, died long ago. Either way, all the different
versions of the story seem to have the same basic outcome. In telling you this, I will try to
incorporate the information that is mentioned throughout the book, The Old Testament Story, Ninth
Edition (by John H. Tullock and Mark McEntire) and some of what I have been taught myself over
my twenty eight years of life.
It all began when King Ahab, and his deceitful wife Jezebel demanded for their kingdom to
worship the false God of Baal. As a result, they ordered all the prophets of the Lord to be put to
death. Elijah was the only one to survive this horrible purge and went to confront King Ahab. He
told the King that a three year drought would be brought upon Israel. This was to challenge the
people s false prophet, Baal and eventually teach them a very valuable lesson in whose God was
real.

There are number of solutions available in this regard. Same solutions are available on various
google forums and are easily accessible. The best solution to this sticking problem is the use of
Kapton Tape. The build platform comes coated with the same tape. This is easily available on
Amazon. Another solution is the use of bluepainter s tape. It can be coated over the build platform
with ease and it is important that the tape being coated is not overlapped. If none of the above
mentioned solution works, then get hold of any aerosol hairspray and coat the platform with its
spray. It is important to let the spray soak down before the machine is turned for use.
Another problem is the alignment of the build platform. It is generally observed that the alignment
of the platform is not as it is after getting a certain number of printouts. The same needs to realign
before giving the final print command. This may happen often so user should not get complacent.
The button on the front panels tend to get stuck in the wood casing which causes a lot of problem
during the printing process. On the other hand, push buttons tend to get stick into the casing during
the platform alignment procedures as well.

The Frog Heart And The Frog Heart
The development of perfusion solutions such as Ringers solution enables us to study basic cardiac
functions. These solutions are based on the composition of extracellular fluid that is able to
sustain isolated organs and allow them to perform as they do inside the body (Silverthorn,
2013).The frog heart beats slowly and therefore allows us to easily observe the mechanical activity
of the cardiac cycle (Courtice, 1989).
The heart is made up of cardiac muscle. Compared to skeletal muscle, cardiac muscle exhibits a
few differences such as rhythmicity. The frog heart is different to the mammalian heart in that it
has three chambers instead of four (Sherwood et al, 2013). The pacemaker cells are located in the
sinus venosus as opposed to in the sinoatrial (SA) node in mammals. The sinus venosus receives
deoxygenated blood from the veins which drain most of the body organs and empties it into the
right atrium. Oxygenated blood from the lungs returns to the left atrium. The single ventricle
receives the blood from both atria and pumps it through a single large artery known as the truncus
arteriosus (Sherwood et al, 2013). There is little mixing of the two pools of blood due to the
structural organisation of the ventricle and the outflow tract. Due to the organisation, oxygenated
blood is delivered to the brain and tissues while deoxygenated blood flows to the lungs and to the
skin through which the frog exchanges gases and water (Sherwood et al, 2013).
During the experiment, a pithed frog will be used to determine the effect of temperature and certain
drugs on the activity of the heart. In endotherms, humans for example, rate and strength of the
heartbeat increases as temperature increases due the effect that an increased temperature has on
enzymatic reactions (Silverthorn, 2013). When the environmental temperature decreases, the heart
rate initially speeds up to increase metabolism which ultimately will increase heat production in
order to maintain homeostasis. However, once core body temperature decreases, cardiac activity
decreases due to the decreasing rate of chemical reactions (Silverthorn, 2013). Because frogs are
ectotherms, their core body temperature is dependent on the environment. It is expected that an

Nadsat In A Clockwork Orange
One of the first things that captures a reader s attention as they re reading Anthony Burgess novel,
A Clockwork Orange, is the argot, also known as nadsat in the novel, which presents the idea that
language can shape reader s thoughts. This is depicted by the language techniques such as
descriptive language and slang (nadsat). The nadsat, which the main character and narrator, Alex,
and his friends in violence, or droogs as they call themselves, speak throughout the novel shields
the readers of the gory and brutal violence that is really being done to people. The way the author
describes the attacks, or as Alex calls ultraviolence , using the artificial language works because
all of the time the readers are reading, they have to be think about what words such as yarbles
(testicles), glazzies (eyes), and oozy (chain) mean, and so this creates a delay in the readers minds
in registering what is actually happening to the people Alex and his friends are attacking.... Show

At first sight, it would be more than difficult to tell what is happening, but after concentrating on
the sentence for a while, readers would then figure out that Alex was cutting Billyboy on the
cheeks. Overall, the effect that the descriptive language and slang/nadsat have on the readers
alienates the violence in the book, making it seem less shocking and therefore conditioning the
readers to behave in an ordinary way, also making readers feels as if they re one of Alex s friends,

Social Order Theory In The Giver
Some would say society is unpredictable and uncontrollable; which some may view this as either
a negative or positive. There have been multiple theories of what a more organized and
harmonious society would need, also known as social order theories. According to
Reference.com, social order theory is the way a society is organized which includes the rules and
standards that are set in order to maintain that organization . We can see one an example of a social
order being put to practice in a society through the social sciencefiction film The Giver. We can
also see how this theory fits under the collectivism and rational quadrant on the spectrum of order.
And lastly, we see a greater connection between the social order in the film and Marx s... Show

First, Durkheim believes that society is already there rather than us creating it. In The Giver we
see how the elders go against the ideology since they are the ones who try to control and regulate
their society, in other words they are creating it. Second, Durkheim also believes the crime is a
part of society and plays a significant role since it forms solidarity amongst people in the
society.etc. In the film, we see that the elders do everything possible in order to prevent any crime
from occurring. Durkheim also is on the non rational spectrum where he is concerned about
feelings instead of goal orientation. In the film, the elders are unconcerned about feelings, and
even take emotions away, in order to maintain their social order which is their main goal. On the
other hand, Marx believes that there are two types of people in the world; the owners and the
worker, whom are hostile towards each other. In the beginning of the film, they mention how they
took away certain divisions such as fame, popularity, etc. so that people will not become envious.
This shows that they understand the division of groups can cause conflict which correlates with

Rebellion In Dostoevsky s Harry Potter
A central strength which fantasy offers in Harry Potter is its uses as a plot device, the way in
which this engages the reader, and the escape which the world of fantasy offers to Harry himself.
The reader follows Harry s perspective, thrust into a world of magic they know nothing about. This
fantasy world offers Harry what he has dreamed of his whole life, and is simultaneously a dream
come true for many child readers, with his instant acquisition of fame, food, friends, fortune,
mystery, excitement, an opportunity for rebellion, and an epic quest to complete. There is certainly
a fantastical element to Harry s complete reversal of fortune, for example, the way Harry is treated
by the Dursleys, with negligence and contempt, contrasts with... Show more content on

Another way the fantasy world engages the reader is through the quest which Harry and his
friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger embark on. Rebellion is a common theme in
children s books, and the plot of the narrative is moved forward by Harry and his friends
defiance of the rules, as they explore explicitly forbidden areas. By doing this, Harry and his
friends conquer the evil Lord Voldemort (for now) by stopping him from acquiring the philosopher
s stone, and in the end they are rewarded with house points for their defiance of the rules. Through
this fantasy quest and the way the characters defy rules and authority figures, Rowling encourages
children to take agency, and she is quoted as saying, in relation to the Harry Potter books, You
should question authority and you should not assume that the establishment or the press tells you
all of the truth (p. 751). Harry Potter and the Philosopher s Stone is strongly influenced by its post
modern context, and this theme of agency, of questioning authority figures and established
institutions is an essential theme throughout the

How Tattooing Is Well As The Modern Techniques Of Tattooing
PROCESS OF TATTOOING
This essay will explore the history of tattooing as well as the modern techniques of tattooing. 5
types of tattoos:
Medical tattoos
Traumatic tattoos
Professional tattoos
Cosmetic tattoos
Amateur tattoos
Have you ever wondered why you have heard of tattoos hurting or experienced the tattoo process?
Have you ever wondered how or why tattooing began? Well in this essay I hope to get you these
answers and more.
My Reasoning
After 11 years as a Tattoo Artist I decided to figure out when tattooing first started and the first
tattooing process. I want to talk about the approximate time tattooing started and the process during
that time up until the present process.
After graduating high school, I felt I should take up a trade that was becoming a trend. I knew I
was a quick learner and I also knew I was extremely interested in art.
Tattooing has been something that has been in my life since the age of 16 and from there on I
was hooked. I have learned many tricks of this trade and have mastered few. I loved every minute
of my learning process of tattooing, even the mistakes that were made. The process was intriguing
to me mostly because I was into blood, gore, pain and art.
In selecting this particular trade I have been influenced by the way the process was carried out. I
was particularly looking forward to learning how the ink is transferred to the skin.
HISTORY OF TATTOOING
Tattooing began roughly over 5000 years ago and it s as diverse as the people

The Interpretation Of The South On Alternate Voices, And...
Franklin opened the interpretation of the South to alternate voices, and gave a firm framework on
establishing the different perspectives relevant for Woodward s experiential not one South thesis.
The points of contention between their interpretations are telling about Southern histories, and their
reputations evidenced the lingering effects of institutionalized racism, as Woodward often gets credit
for opening Southern history to African Americannarratives. However, it was Franklin that did it
first and allowed for agency, while Woodward s narratives most featured black victimization
/victimhood. Despite some differences in interpretation, Franklin and Woodward would become
two of the most influential historians of the twentieth century. Only recently does it seems more
women, more minorities, more identities are writing southern history from their unique viewpoints
and interpretations. All of them aided by the path laid by Franklin. His influence is clear in the
works of Tera Hunter, Mary Hoffschwelle, Karen Cox, Pippa Holloway, and all of the most recent
histories of the South.Franklin s essays mirrored role of African American in Southern
historiography. Starting out, African Americans were given little or no attention at all, then came
outright racist histories, then blacks as subjects of white actions/ideologies, and finally, blacks as
full historical actors, controlling their own lives, demonstrating their own agency, controlling their
own narratives.

Prison Industrial Complex In Prison
Most of us probably don t give jail much thought but with a rapid rise in the prison population, we
probably should.
PIC or Prison Industrial Complex is the term used to reflect the rising prison population in the US
and other countries. Yes, even here in Canada.
It s interesting to note that the US has more people behind bars than China. A country with 5 times
the population yet America is considered the land of the free .
The majority of people in jail are Black or Hispanic. Also interesting to note: US federal law cracks
the whip down on the possession of rock cocaine (crack). Less than 2 ounces will get you 10 years
in prison. Possess 500 grams of cocaine powder you only get 5 years. That s almost 18 ounces yet

In 2013, there were 133,000 state and federal prisoners confined in privately owned prisons in the
US. Hmm, privately owned. What are they doing in there? Sounds like business to me.
The fact is, it very much is a business. Just to give you an idea, the prison industry raked in 5
billion dollars in 2011. It s starting to make sense now why these prison sentences are
unreasonable and designed to pick off minorities. I mean after all, the prison industry can t run

An Essay About My Cultural Identity
What is my cultural identity? Personally, I don t think I am completely assured on what my cultural
identity is, but I can do my best on explaining it. However, I won t get started on that yet, first I ll
explain the occasion of me learning about my identity. At almost the beginning of the year, it was
announced in our English class that we would be doing an essay on our cultural identities. When
my teacher announced this I thought to myself, What in the world is a cultural identity, or even my
cultural identity? In these months, we have gotten to learn the definition of culture, and what it
means to us, individually., I believe that culture means a group of people that share the same
customs, way of life, and beliefs. Also, over these last couple of months we have been reading
texts all about people knowing and understanding their cultural identities, meanwhile I still didn
t understand my own. All I know is that I was born on February 11, 2002, I like movies and
music, and my mom is from Chile and my Dad is from Virginia. Now that didn t feel like enough
for me to write on, but then I started thinking about all of the cultural differences that my parents
have had raising me as a person, and how those have all combined to make me. In my short 15
years of life, the culture clashes have sometimes affected me on my thoughts and opinions,
which I ll talk about later on. As well as how movies and music have affected my perspectives
and opinions. Now there are a lot of aspects that make me as a person, but the one I want to
develop on the most would be the fact that I have been raised by two almost completely different
cultures, my dad being raised in a more conservative setting, while my mom was raised in a more
carefree, but still careful setting, but they both lived in similar living conditions, not having a lot of
money, but they found ways in their times to overcome those issues and cope with them. Which
makes them similar on how they have raised me and my two siblings, but still quite different in
other aspects. I found this part of me, with the combined cultures of my parents, to be very
conflicting at times because when my dad would talk about different topics, my mother would just

Analysis Of Gulliver s Travels By Jonathan Swift
Aldous Huxley once said, There are things known and there are things unknown, and in between
are the doors of perception (The Personal Path to Virtue 20). Perception is present in every aspect
of society, for humans decipher receptive actions into comprehensible and consolidated views of
the Earth around them. From art, to music, and even to literature, everyone has his or her own
perception, one that can change and develop dependent upon everyone s own vision. In the
novel, Gulliver s Travels by Jonathan Swift, the reader will find their perception of the themes
and the characters in the book drastically different in the beginning of the story than at the end.
When one first lays their hands on a copy of Gulliver s Travels, the ideas and themes they would
believe to be most obvious and important would include adventure, discovery and the development
of civilization. They would simply formulate these ideas from the title and cover of the novel.
However, as one reads the story and divulges into the deeper meaning of Gulliver and his travels, he
or she will find that the limits of human understanding and the individual comparisons of nature
versus society are much more present in the novel than are adventure and discovery. Change is the
underlining focus of this story. From the themes to the actions of the characters and even to the
motifs of the story, many facets of the story change from the first to the last page due to the
overwhelming significance of adventures that

The Children s Health Insurance Program
Executive Summary About 682,000 Texas children remain without insurance. That is the
highest number in the nation and more than double the next highest of 302,000 children in
California. Of the nation s 3.5 million children who still lack health insurance, nearly one in five
live in Texas. The Problem Our Children Deserve Better... A look at where we are and how we
got here: 1997 The Children s Health Insurance Program (CHIP, formerly the State Children s
Health Insurance Program (SCHIP)): was created by the Balanced Budget Act of 1997, enacted
Title XXI of the Social Security Act. It has allocated about $20 billion over 10 years to help
states insure low income children who are ineligible for Medicaid but cannot afford private
insurance. A drop in uninsured was seen immediately. 2010 Affordable Care Act (ACA) State
Expansion: Consisting of mandates, expansion, and subsidies to increase health insurance
affordability and quality. States are offered additional funding to expand Medicaid benefits.
2013, Governor Rick Perry of Texas refuses to expand Medicaid and additional funding of up to
$100 billion over the first decade in reimbursement. 2012 National Federation of Independent
Business v. Sebelius: The basic idea of the ruling was that ACA was declared a tax and not a
mandate, and was therefore declared constitutional. The ruling also let states opt out of expanding
Medicaid. Almost half of the U.S. States opted out of expanding Medicaid in 2014 (as of October

Analysis Of The Poem The Waste Land
The first lines of T.S. Eliot s poem, The Waste Land, proclaim,
April is the cruelest month, breeding Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing

This stanzaese ilines invokes a strange mix of hopeful images, layered with words of
despair.veiled beneath words of despair . Many would agree there is a clear feeling of
hopelessness throughout the poem; however, through poetic allusions to redemption, glimpses of
optimism are seen in Eliot s work, suggesting all may not be lost. His references to the redeeming
hellfire of Dante s Divine Comedy, and transformation through tragedy in The Story of Tereus and
Philomela, show that Eliot perhaps holds onto a glimmer of hope for society s despondent
state.fordespondent state .
Eliot calls to our attention the degradation of society using the theme of lust throughout The Waste
Land. In A Game of Chess and again in The Fire Sermon, he describes how sex has become an act
devoid of meaning and emotion. The speakers in these sections show how society has separated
sex and love, stripping it of its significance. However, in What the Thunder Said , Eliot points the
way to redemption. He quotes Dante stating, Poi s ascose nel foco che gli affina (line 427) which
translates to, Then he hid himself in the fire that refines them. The purifying fire he speaks of

King Leary Essay
King Leary The notion of celebrity status is one that is often overlooked and many people have
a one sided opinion on the life of a celebrity. Many people think the life of a celebrity as being
one of relaxation and stress free when in reality they secretly face problems that come with the
allure of fame. In the novel King Leary, written by Paul Quarrington, is an insightful book about

All of a sudden here was a crashing sound, and Manny came flying through one of the parish hall
s stained glass window. (Quarrington 55) The allure of fame and celebrity status has led to the
demise of several professional athletes because of peer pressure. For example, former Vancouver
Canucks NHL tough guy Rick Rypien was overcome by peer pressure when he assumed the role
of team enforcer. He was aware that when his team needed a spark he would have to get into a
fight with the opposing team s tough guy. This ultimately led to alcohol abuse and depression
which ultimately led to his suicide in early 2011. Throughout the course of the novel, the theme
of depression is another issue faced by celebrities and the character of Manfred Ozikean. This is
a perfect example of how depression can lead to a change in one s mental health. Depression has
become more and more common in the past twenty years. One in every ten Canadians will suffer
from depression and these odds increase in celebrities and athletes. This is proven through the
character of Manfred Ozikean as his depression begins to set in when his alcoholic tendencies
cause him to become separated from his wife. Manfred s depression is a result of his lack of
confidence in himself so he resorted to alcohol as his way out. He got himself arrested two or

Brief Paper #1
Both Jane Addams and Saul Alinsky, worked to enact social change within the poor neighborhoods
of Chicago. Both would also go on to inspire many other social changes due to their methodologies
and accomplishments. However, Addams and Alinsky s approaches to bring about social change
are often described as being polar opposites. One could argue though, that despite these superficial
differences, Addams and Alinsky shared a commonality that is not often talked about. Jane Addams

This falls back to Alinsky s do anything to win mentality and win he did. The BYNC housed the
infant station and the Chicago Settlement never regained its footing within the community. Alinsky
had again proved the effectiveness of his methods (Hamington, 2010). Addams and Alinsky appear
to have very different organizing philosophies. Alinsky himself often commented how his methods
were so different than those of the settlement houses. These comments however, should have been
more directed at what the settlement houses had become and not at the originating principles of
Jane Addams Hull House. Jane Addams herself would likely disapprove of the direction that the
settlement houses had moved towards. Addams and Alinsky both recognized the importance of
listening and learning the needs of the community in order to gain perspective. Addams recognized
that when existing social institutions do not provide a reasonable means for citizen participation,
those citizens will organize to resist... Similarly, Alinsky viewed his organizations as fully
democratic [stating]: This kind of organization can be built only if people are working together for
real, attainable objectives (Hamington, 2010). The connections between the philosophies of
Addams and Alinsky are inextricably linked. The resonance between the social philosophies of
Addams and Alinsky is not surprising if the Chicago School connection is taken into account.

How Does Hal Change In King Henry Iv Part 1
Hal is often referred to as the prodigal son of Shakespeare s King Henry IV Part I. Wasteful and
lazy, Hal is seen more often drinking in a tavern or robbing others than serving as the next king
of England, though he claims that to be all an act in Act I Scene II, where he promises to redeem
himself. However, this claim seems dubious at best, Hal immediately going to then play a trick
on Falstaff and rob him. However, things seem to change in Act III Scene II. In this scene, King
Henry IV has called his son to his castle to discuss the future of England and how Hal is acting
less like a prince, and more like the wretched King Richard II, who Henry IV disposed to take the
throne. Hal replies to his father, promising that he will redeem himself in his father s eyes and in
the eyes of the English noblemen by killing Hotspur, one of the leaders of the rebellion against the
king. This speech marks a major character shift in Hal and his motivations shift from drinking and
lounging about, to that of redemption and honor through battle. This character shift is seen through
many literary devices, such as the religious and familial diction, the personification of Hal s actions,

Sea Power In The 19th And 20th Century

of the sea, both travel and traffic by water have always been easier and cheaper than by land.
This advantage of carriage by water was marked two hundred years ago when roads were few and

The Book The Wolves Of The Walls, The Sandm Dream...
Throughout the second semester of my first year attending Rogers State University, I learned
valuable life lasting lessons, concepts, and morals that will forever change the way that I view the
world and the people that make up the cultures and societies in it. Multiple works that I studied
and discussed in class consist of works by Neil Gaimansuch as The Graveyard Book, The Wolves in
the Walls, The Sandman: Dream Country, and The Ocean at the End of the Lane. Another
important work that influenced me along with the Gaiman works is Never Let Me Go by Kazuo
Ishiguro. These literary works influenced me to think about the meaning of lifeand the purpose in
my life because my life is not always guaranteed to be here tomorrow. Although I still take things
for granted, I have learned from studying these works that the things in this life should be
appreciated because they have meaning and a purpose. While I studied multiple literary works
this semester, I believe that the five works discussed above had the greatest impact on me as a
student, a brother, and a friend because they taught me important values I will always cherish
and reflect upon in the wide, wide world. The first work that had an important influence on me
was The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. This piece of literature follows a boy named Bod who
is adopted by the inhabitants of a graveyard that consist of ghosts, witches, and a vampire.

Discuss The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Arbitration
The award of the arbitrators is final and generally no appeal lies against the award.
While in a regular civil suit there maybe an appeal and an appeal against an appeal.
п‚· In arbitration, the dispute can be resolved without inflicting stress and emotional burden on the
parties which is a common feature in court proceedings.
 In a large number of cases, „Arbitration‟ facilitates the maintenance of continued
relationship between the parties even after the settlement.
п‚· The parties in the arbitration process decide jointly on the arbitrator; in a litigation, the judge
is appointed and the parties have little or no say in the selection. The parties may have some say in
whether a case is heard by a judge or a jury.

п‚· Another merit of institutional arbitration is One of the advantages of arbitration is that it
provides for final binding determination of the dispute between the parties. In other words, no
review or appeal lies against an arbitral award to ensure finality. This involves an inherent risk
that mistakes committed by the tribunal cannot be corrected, whereby one party would
inevitably suffer. However, some institutional rules provide for scrutiny of the draft award
before the final award is issued and some provide for a review procedure. The latter entitles the
dissatisfied party to appeal to an arbitral tribunal of second instance, which can confirm, vary,
amend or set aside the first award and such decision in appeal is considered to be final and
binding upon the parties. Contrasting this to ad hoc arbitration where there is no opportunity for
appeal or review and the parties have to be prepared to suffer for the mistakes of the arbitrators,
this is a redeeming feature of institutional arbitration as it allows the parties a second chance of
presenting their case and also permits the rectification of mistakes made by the tribunal of first
instance. It also serves as a check on the

Devolution In The UK
Devolution allocates central powers and levels of governance within a state to share decision
making. In the United Kingdom changes in the government structure had an impact in planning
policy and their function; from the devolving creation of the Welsh Assembly and Scottish
parliament due to the unification of England, Wales, and Scotland. The election of New Labour in
1997 facilitated devolution and it created a pressure to establish distinctive and more culturally
aligned policies. Economic globalization and the growing wish to increase economical competition

In this sense, a regime of accumulation refers to the stabilization over a long period of the
allocation of the net product between consumption and accumulation; it implies some
correspondence between the transformation of both the conditions of production and the conditions
of reproductive wage earners. This must entail the formation of a knowable and predictable
configuration of norms, habits, laws, regulating networks and so on that ensure the unity of the
process, i.e. the appropriate consistency of individual behaviors with the schema of reproduction.
This task of regulating and ensuring the sustainability of the regime of accumulation is the mode of
social and political regulation.
The regime of accumulation under Fordism relied on the link between mass production and mass
consumption. In order to fuel the cycle of economic activity, wages had to be sufficiently high to
support mass consumption. This mass consumption drove demand and productive activity for
firms, which were afforded profits used to reinvest in productive ventures. This virtuous cycle of
cumulative economic activity was thought to perpetuate itself indefinitely once full employment
was realized.
The purpose of the state under Fordism was to stabilize the free market s inherent crisis tendencies.
The obligations of the state in this form of capitalist organization were

Cats In Ancient Egypt Research Paper
Cats in Ancient Egypt
Ancient Egyptians considered cats to be sacred. Killing a cat, even by accident could be
punishable by death. About 60 BC, Greek historian, Diodorus Siculus, witnessed a Roman
accidentally kill an Egyptian cat. An outraged mob gathered and killed the Roman despite pleas
from their pharaoh. The Greek historian Herodotus wrote that in the event of a fire, men would
guard the fire to make certain that no cats ran into the flame. Herodotus also wrote that when a cat
died, the household would go into mourning as if for a human relative, and would often shave their
eyebrows to signify their loss. The practice of mummification was extended to cats because of the
deep respect the Egyptians had for them.

The Effect Of Photosynthesis On The Environment Of...
Photosynthesis is defined as the process by which green plants manufacture their food (organic
compounds) making use of carbon dioxide and water in the presence of sunlight.
It is also the synthesis of carbohydrate from sunlight, water and CO2 by the green plants. It is an
endergonic and anabolic process. Bacteria show an oxygenic photosynthesis as they do not use
water and do not evolve oxygen. Cyanobacteria (blue green algae) evolved oxygen first time in
evolution as they show oxygenic photosynthesis.
Photosynthesis is an endothermic reaction and it consists of a series of complex reactions. This
reaction during photosynthesis is grouped into two stages called Light reaction and Dark reaction.
This stage occurs during the day or in the presence of sunlight. The light energy or solar energy
is captured by the chlorophyll and electrons are excited. The energy so trapped is used to split
water into hydrogen ion (H+) and hydroxyl ion (H ). The splitting of water into hydrogen ion (H+)
and hydroxyl ion (H ) is called photolysis of water.
Water combines with carbon dioxide in the presence of sunlight within the chlorophyll of leaves to
manufacture food (glucose) and oxygen is liberated as a by product. Photosynthesis occurs in all
green plants. Photosynthesis is an endothermic reaction and it consists of a series of complex
reactions. This reaction during photosynthesis is grouped into two stages called Light reaction and
Dark reaction. During this process, oxygen is given

Persuasive Essay On Head Start
Head Start Programs:
All Children Deserve the Same Chance at an Education Head Start programs came about in
1964; when President Johnson declared a war on poverty. His idea was you must break the
cycle of poverty to win the war. The program s idea was to help break the cycle of poverty by,
providing the children of low income families the ability to meet the emotional, social, health,
nutrition, and mental needs. The Parents also are offered resources in higher education, paying
utilities, and other needs that are essential to succeed. According to The Basic Head Start Facts
Sheet 2011, Head Start is the nation s first national early education and early childcare program.
Since then over thirty two million children have had assistance with the program; therefore, has
caused an increase of twenty eight percent in High School Graduations (Smith 8). Head Starts main
goal is to lower the achievement gap between lower class and middle class children.
Being born in poverty and the disadvantages Smith states that children who are born into poverty
already have a disadvantage. The journal Why Investments in Early Childhood work, 2011,
shows that these children are twenty five percent more likely to drop out of school, forty percent
more likely to become a teen parent, and seventy percent more likely to commit a violent crime in
their life. Therefore, the cycle needs to end. We need to educate ourselves so our children can
succeed, and live a better life than we had. Abbott Shim

Essay on Aristotle s Notion on Eudaimonia and Virtue
In Aristotle s Nicomachean Ethics he accounts that humans should make sacrifices and should
ultimately aim first and foremost for their own happiness . In the paper I will argue that it is
really in a person s best interest to be virtuous . I will do this by first describing Aristotle s notion
on both eudaimoniaand virtue, as well as highlighting the intimate relationship between the two .
Secondly I will talk about the human role in society. Thirdly I will describe the intrinsic tie between
human actions . Finally I will share the importance of performing activities virtuously .
The central notion of Aristotle is eudaimonia or happiness which is best translated as a flourishing
human life . Happiness is a complete and sufficient ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However , acting virtuous is the mean to becoming virtuous . There are conditions for virtue
which consist of , having the appropriate inner state , taking pleasure in what your doing , doing it
for certainty and firmness , and being aware of what you are dong . If a person performs a virtuous
act without the right intentions the act is not longer virtuous . Virtue is acquired through
habituation , making or becoming accustom or use to something . A person is not born with virtue
, but by nature is capable of achieving and perfecting virtue . The way in which a person habituates
virtue is by practicing virtuous acts and initiating virtue at a young age .
Happiness is the highest good, being a realization and perfect practice of virtue, which some can
attain, while others have little or none of it... (Aristotle) . The relationship between virtue and
happiness have an close and personal relationship . Virtue is necessary for eudaimonia but it is
not sufficient for eudaimonia . Aristotle believes that virtue is most important to eudaimonia ,
because eudaimonia involves activity which is exhibiting excellence or virtue . Eudaimonia will
be gained when something is developed properly . To exhibit something well one must do it with
excellence ; therefore eudaimonia is dependent on virtue . In order to live a happy life a person
must be virtuous , and in order to be virtuous someone must act in the right way and live by the
right sort of reasons . For

Fall Of The Jin Dynasty
Following the fall of the Hans dynasty in 220 C.E., China divided into three separate kingdoms
known as the Three Kingdom Era. Powerful families and warlords who were in a constant battle
against each other led the north, south, and west. In addition to these battles, disease and natural
disasters also took an extensive toll on China. The battles continued for years and then in the year
280 C.E., a general under the Jin dynasty from the north managed to defeat the south and west for a
short time. The Jin dynasty produced 25 sons who after his death began to battle each other for the
power to control the dynasty. One of the sons made a disastrous mistake when he asked Turkic
nomads named Xiongnu to help him defeat his brothers. Xiongnu... Show more content on

Many Mongolians were unhappy about the acceptance of the Chinese language and the
combination of the Mongolian language. In addition to the unrest in the north, thousands of
wealthy educated Chinese families fled south. This migration to southern China made this region a
cultural mecca. Southern China did not experience the same fate as northern China but they did
have power struggles during the Age of Disunity. The years 220 589 C.E. was known as the Age
of Disunity in which Nomads were constantly invading China. In the midst of all the turmoil,
Buddhism spread throughout China. During the Hans dynasty, Confucianism was the philosophy.
After the fall of the Hans dynasty and during the Age of Disunity, the people began to gravitate
toward Buddhism. Buddhism s promise of inner peace and relief from life s burdens were an
interest to the people of China. In the year 399, Faxian a Chinese Buddhist monk made a
pilgrimage to India and returned to China in 414. He brought with him Indian Buddhist texts, which
he transcribed into Chinese. By 517 Buddhism became the official religion of southern China. The
Sui, Tang and Song dynasties prevailed in China during the years 589 1279. The years 589 to 618
saw the rule of Yang Jian, general for the Sui Dynasty. Under this rule, he began construction of the
Grand Canal connecting the north waterway to the south. Yang

Mermaid Research Papers Mermaids are legends that have been among us for years; moreover, to understand the legends, one must look at their history, their mystical powers and their distinct descriptions. Mermaids, Mermen, and Merbabys are making more of an appearance in our waters than they ever have. These mystical creatures are swimming back into our world. Mermaids originated from aquatic ape s years ago when dinosaurs still roamed our earth. As Tim Chaffey stated, Our supposed ape like ancestors started living near the oceans, and the narrator informs viewers that this is where our advanced intelligence began to develop thanks to the brain building nutrients like iodine and fatty acids so abundant in the shellfish gathered there, their brain capacity and... • 4. Pros And Cons Of Single Transferable Voting System Every three years the Australian Senate is reelected using the single transferable voting system. In this system, voters rank the list of candidates by order of preference to fill spots in a multi member district. Then a quota is set based on the number of votes cast and the number of Senate seats to fill. If any candidate receives more votes than the quota, they receive a seat. Any surplus votes are then transferred to second choice candidates to see if they reach the quota, and so on until all Senate seats are filled. According to the C.I.A website, which is a United States government website that offers information about different countries and monitors their activities, Thailand s government was a constitutional monarchy from 1932 to 2005. Thailand experienced intense government turmoil due to a military coup and several large scale political street protests from 2008 to 2010 (C.I.A). As a result of the unrest among the citizens, it caused corruption from the government, which meant that often times human trafficking is overlooked to not only promote the increase of economy, but also increase the workforces in the country(C.I.A). Reported by The Global Slavery Index, which is a global organization that conducts research and surveys in various countries, it shows that, 425,500 people or 0.63% of the total population live in conditions of modern slavery in Thailand. This creates different national issues such as a human rights violation and also social issues such as communities being torn apart due to separation of families, but there are different solutions out there that are easing the challenges of human trafficking. As a nation, Thailand s economy has been gradually increasing; however, it still faces large national debt and high unemployment rate overall (C.I.A). This leads to the government trying to find ... • 6. A War Does Not Require Weapons Acosta, Alejandro Rachel History 4C7/July 2015 A War does not Require Weapons In between the timeline of World War One and World War Two, political leaders, states, and nations were fighting against each other with and without the usage of weapons. The ideology of great philosophers, and raising leaders, such as: Herbert Spencer, Leon Trotsky, Joseph Stalin, Great Britain, and Russia brought civil wars and battles during the small timeframe between world wars. Before we go into depth on the one 30 year war, we begin with the settings of this one 30 year war. In the beginning of the 19th century, European powerhouses, France and Russia, obtained the same equal power. At the same period, Germany s industry began to grow tremendously which brought rival, Britain. Germany s economics in industrial were growing due to the exports of heavy materials, and beneficially to politicians running the state. The economic growth of Germany lead them to create the Triple Alliance in 1882. The reason for this secret agreement between Germany, Austria Hungry, and Italy was because Germany felt that its economic growth would lead to war with their rivals. In response to the Triple Alliance 1882, the Triple Entente of 1894 was created by France, Russia, and Great Britain. Nevertheless, Germany was thinking in advanced, and planed the Schlieffen. • 7. Essay about Literary Devices Used in the Raven by Edgar... Analysis of the Raven by Edgar Allen Poe The nineteenth century poet Edgar Allen Poe makes use of several literary devices in order to create a gloomy atmosphere in his poem The Raven . Alliteration, rhyme, onomatopoeia, assonance, and repetition are used to contribute to the melodic nature of the work and provide an almost visual representation of his gothic setting. Poe is a master of using these writing techniques. The Ravenis one of his most popular works. This is certainly due, in part to his use of these literary devices in this piece. The poem tells of a narrator who is reading an old book in his parlor when he is interrupted by a knock at the door. The protagonist is in a period of grieving over the loss of his love,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many other internal rhymes are also found within the lines of the poem. In fact, the first line of the poem contains an internal rhyme Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary . Another example is found in Line 31 which reads Back into the chamber turning, all my soul within me burning, The poem is rife with such examples. Poe also uses repetition to accentuate the musical quality of The Raven . Obviously, the repeating of the word nevermore is used throughout the work not only to convey a sense of musicality, but to suggest the melancholy theme of this piece due to the connotations that the word expresses (lines 48, 54, 60, 72, etc.). Poe also uses repetition in other sections of the poem. In lines 16 and 17, we read Tis some visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door; Some late visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door; In these lines, we get the impression that the speaker is trying to reassure himself that there is no sinister force at work, but simply a visitor at his door. Edgar Allen Poe was extremely talented at choosing words which not only support the fluidity of the work while also reinforcing the tone. Alliteration is another literary device which is used throughout The Raven . Alliteration is the repetition of beginning consonant sounds. The Raven is full of examples of alliteration. An instance of this device is seen in line 26, in which the d sound is repeated: Doubting, dreaming ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Elijah The Prophet By Elijah Elijah the Prophet I have decided to write my Old Testament essay on the mysterious prophet Elijah. According to the bible, in the book of Kings, Elijah was not only a devoted prophet of God, but he also served as a worker who lived in the northern kingdom of Israel, under King Ahab s reign. Elijah is remembered for his remarkable faith and devotion to God. In writing this essay, I will tell the story of one the many adventures that occurred in Elijah s lifetime. Of course, there are so many alterations and rewritten versions of the bible, that I have no idea what to believe. No one truly knows what happened, for everyone who could have, died long ago. Either way, all the different versions of the story seem to have the same basic outcome. In telling you this, I will try to incorporate the information that is mentioned throughout the book, The Old Testament Story, Ninth Edition (by John H. Tullock and Mark McEntire) and some of what I have been taught myself over my twenty eight years of life. It all began when King Ahab, and his deceitful wife Jezebel demanded for their kingdom to worship the false God of Baal. As a result, they ordered all the prophets of the Lord to be put to death. Elijah was the only one to survive this horrible purge and went to confront King Ahab. He told the King that a three year drought would be brought upon Israel. This was to challenge the people s false prophet, Baal and eventually teach them a very valuable lesson in whose God was real. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. The Frog Heart And The Frog Heart The development of perfusion solutions such as Ringers solution enables us to study basic cardiac functions. These solutions are based on the composition of extracellular fluid that is able to sustain isolated organs and allow them to perform as they do inside the body (Silverthorn, 2013).The frog heart beats slowly and therefore allows us to easily observe the mechanical activity of the cardiac cycle (Courtice, 1989). The heart is made up of cardiac muscle. Compared to skeletal muscle, cardiac muscle exhibits a few differences such as rhythmicity. The frog heart is different to the mammalian heart in that it has three chambers instead of four (Sherwood et al, 2013). The pacemaker cells are located in the sinus venosus as opposed to in the sinoatrial (SA) node in mammals. The sinus venosus receives deoxygenated blood from the veins which drain most of the body organs and empties it into the right atrium. Oxygenated blood from the lungs returns to the left atrium. The single ventricle receives the blood from both atria and pumps it through a single large artery known as the truncus arteriosus (Sherwood et al, 2013). There is little mixing of the two pools of blood due to the structural organisation of the ventricle and the outflow tract. Due to the organisation, oxygenated blood is delivered to the brain and tissues while deoxygenated blood flows to the lungs and to the skin through which the frog exchanges gases and water (Sherwood et al, 2013). During the experiment, a pithed frog will be used to determine the effect of temperature and certain drugs on the activity of the heart. In endotherms, humans for example, rate and strength of the heartbeat increases as temperature increases due the effect that an increased temperature has on enzymatic reactions (Silverthorn, 2013). When the environmental temperature decreases, the heart rate initially speeds up to increase metabolism which ultimately will increase heat production in order to maintain homeostasis. However, once core body temperature decreases, cardiac activity decreases due to the decreasing rate of chemical reactions (Silverthorn, 2013). Because frogs are ectotherms, their core body temperature is dependent on the environment. It is expected that an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Nadsat In A Clockwork Orange One of the first things that captures a reader s attention as they re reading Anthony Burgess novel, A Clockwork Orange, is the argot, also known as nadsat in the novel, which presents the idea that language can shape reader s thoughts. This is depicted by the language techniques such as descriptive language and slang (nadsat). The nadsat, which the main character and narrator, Alex, and his friends in violence, or droogs as they call themselves, speak throughout the novel shields the readers of the gory and brutal violence that is really being done to people. The way the author describes the attacks, or as Alex calls ultraviolence , using the artificial language works because all of the time the readers are reading, they have to be think about what words such as yarbles (testicles), glazzies (eyes), and oozy (chain) mean, and so this creates a delay in the readers minds in registering what is actually happening to the people Alex and his friends are attacking.... Durkheim also is on the non rational spectrum where he is concerned about feelings instead of goal orientation. In the film, the elders are unconcerned about feelings, and even take emotions away, in order to maintain their social order which is their main goal. On the other hand, Marx believes that there are two types of people in the world; the owners and the worker, whom are hostile towards each other. This fantasy world offers Harry what he has dreamed of his whole life, and is simultaneously a dream come true for many child readers, with his instant acquisition of fame, food, friends, fortune, mystery, excitement, an opportunity for rebellion, and an epic quest to complete. By doing this, Harry and his friends conquer the evil Lord Voldemort (for now) by stopping him from acquiring the philosopher s stone, and in the end they are rewarded with house points for their defiance of the rules. Through this fantasy quest and the way the characters defy rules and authority figures, Rowling encourages children to take agency, and she is quoted as saying, in relation to the Harry Potter books, You should question authority and you should not assume that the establishment or the press tells you all of the truth (p. 751). • 18. An Essay About My Cultural Identity What is my cultural identity? Personally, I don t think I am completely assured on what my cultural identity is, but I can do my best on explaining it. However, I won t get started on that yet, first I ll explain the occasion of me learning about my identity. At almost the beginning of the year, it was announced in our English class that we would be doing an essay on our cultural identities. When my teacher announced this I thought to myself, What in the world is a cultural identity, or even my cultural identity? In these months, we have gotten to learn the definition of culture, and what it means to us, individually., I believe that culture means a group of people that share the same customs, way of life, and beliefs. Also, over these last couple of months we have been reading texts all about people knowing and understanding their cultural identities, meanwhile I still didn t understand my own. All I know is that I was born on February 11, 2002, I like movies and music, and my mom is from Chile and my Dad is from Virginia. Now that didn t feel like enough for me to write on, but then I started thinking about all of the cultural differences that my parents have had raising me as a person, and how those have all combined to make me. In my short 15 years of life, the culture clashes have sometimes affected me on my thoughts and opinions, which I ll talk about later on. As well as how movies and music have affected my perspectives and opinions. Now there are a lot of aspects that make me as a person, but the one I want to develop on the most would be the fact that I have been raised by two almost completely different cultures, my dad being raised in a more conservative setting, while my mom was raised in a more carefree, but still careful setting, but they both lived in similar living conditions, not having a lot of money, but they found ways in their times to overcome those issues and cope with them. Which makes them similar on how they have raised me and my two siblings, but still quite different in other aspects. I found this part of me, with the combined cultures of my parents, to be very conflicting at times because when my dad would talk about different topics, my mother would just have a completely ... • 19. Analysis Of Gulliver s Travels By Jonathan Swift Aldous Huxley once said, There are things known and there are things unknown, and in between are the doors of perception (The Personal Path to Virtue 20). Perception is present in every aspect of society, for humans decipher receptive actions into comprehensible and consolidated views of the Earth around them. From art, to music, and even to literature, everyone has his or her own perception, one that can change and develop dependent upon everyone s own vision. In the novel, Gulliver s Travels by Jonathan Swift, the reader will find their perception of the themes and the characters in the book drastically different in the beginning of the story than at the end. When one first lays their hands on a copy of Gulliver s Travels, the ideas and themes they would believe to be most obvious and important would include adventure, discovery and the development of civilization. They would simply formulate these ideas from the title and cover of the novel. However, as one reads the story and divulges into the deeper meaning of Gulliver and his travels, he or she will find that the limits of human understanding and the individual comparisons of nature versus society are much more present in the novel than are adventure and discovery. Change is the underlining focus of this story. However, some institutional rules provide for scrutiny of the draft award before the final award is issued and some provide for a review procedure. The latter entitles the dissatisfied party to appeal to an arbitral tribunal of second instance, which can confirm, vary, amend or set aside the first award and such decision in appeal is considered to be final and binding upon the parties. Contrasting this to ad hoc arbitration where there is no opportunity for appeal or review and the parties have to be prepared to suffer for the mistakes of the arbitrators, this is a redeeming feature of institutional arbitration as it allows the parties a second chance of presenting their case and also permits the rectification of mistakes made by the tribunal of first instance. Mapping a history of capitalism s different stages and forms both social and institutional would be an arduous task, complicated by the fact that in each of capitalism s stages, features and characteristics of past and future stages abound. Nevertheless, the current form of capitalism marks a unique departure from previous stages. Euphemisms and catchphrases concerning late 20th ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this sense, a regime of accumulation refers to the stabilization over a long period of the allocation of the net product between consumption and accumulation; it implies some correspondence between the transformation of both the conditions of production and the conditions of reproductive wage earners. This must entail the formation of a knowable and predictable configuration of norms, habits, laws, regulating networks and so on that ensure the unity of the process, i.e. the appropriate consistency of individual behaviors with the schema of reproduction. This task of regulating and ensuring the sustainability of the regime of accumulation is the mode of social and political regulation. The regime of accumulation under Fordism relied on the link between mass production and mass consumption. In order to fuel the cycle of economic activity, wages had to be sufficiently high to support mass consumption. This mass consumption drove demand and productive activity for firms, which were afforded profits used to reinvest in productive ventures. This virtuous cycle of cumulative economic activity was thought to perpetuate itself indefinitely once full employment was realized. The purpose of the state under Fordism was to stabilize the free market s inherent crisis tendencies. The obligations of the state in this form of capitalist organization were ... • 43. The Effect Of Photosynthesis On The Environment Of... Photosynthesis is defined as the process by which green plants manufacture their food (organic compounds) making use of carbon dioxide and water in the presence of sunlight. It is also the synthesis of carbohydrate from sunlight, water and CO2 by the green plants. It is an endergonic and anabolic process. Bacteria show an oxygenic photosynthesis as they do not use water and do not evolve oxygen. Cyanobacteria (blue green algae) evolved oxygen first time in evolution as they show oxygenic photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is an endothermic reaction and it consists of a series of complex reactions. This reaction during photosynthesis is grouped into two stages called Light reaction and Dark reaction. This stage occurs during the day or in the presence of sunlight. The light energy or solar energy is captured by the chlorophyll and electrons are excited. The energy so trapped is used to split water into hydrogen ion (H+) and hydroxyl ion (H ). The splitting of water into hydrogen ion (H+) and hydroxyl ion (H ) is called photolysis of water. Water combines with carbon dioxide in the presence of sunlight within the chlorophyll of leaves to manufacture food (glucose) and oxygen is liberated as a by product. Photosynthesis occurs in all green plants. Photosynthesis is an endothermic reaction and it consists of a series of complex reactions. Persuasive Essay On Head Start Head Start Programs: All Children Deserve the Same Chance at an Education Head Start programs came about in 1964; when President Johnson declared a war on poverty. His idea was you must break the cycle of poverty to win the war. The program s idea was to help break the cycle of poverty by, providing the children of low income families the ability to meet the emotional, social, health, nutrition, and mental needs. The Parents also are offered resources in higher education, paying utilities, and other needs that are essential to succeed. According to The Basic Head Start Facts Sheet 2011, Head Start is the nation s first national early education and early childcare program. Since then over thirty two million children have had assistance with the program; therefore, has caused an increase of twenty eight percent in High School Graduations (Smith 8). Head Starts main goal is to lower the achievement gap between lower class and middle class children. Being born in poverty and the disadvantages Smith states that children who are born into poverty already have a disadvantage. The journal Why Investments in Early Childhood work, 2011, shows that these children are twenty five percent more likely to drop out of school, forty percent more likely to become a teen parent, and seventy percent more likely to commit a violent crime in their life. Therefore, the cycle needs to end. We need to educate ourselves so our children can succeed, and live a better life than we had. Abbott Shim ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are conditions for virtue which consist of , having the appropriate inner state , taking pleasure in what your doing , doing it for certainty and firmness , and being aware of what you are dong . If a person performs a virtuous act without the right intentions the act is not longer virtuous . Virtue is acquired through habituation , making or becoming accustom or use to something . A person is not born with virtue , but by nature is capable of achieving and perfecting virtue . The way in which a person habituates virtue is by practicing virtuous acts and initiating virtue at a young age .
