2. FLAIR (FLUID ATTENUATED INVERSION
RECOVERY)
• Flair is an inversion recovery sequence .
• The aim of the flair sequence is the supress
liquid signal mainly in the brain .
• It is useful for brain and spine imaging .
• It can show periventricular and cord lesion
more clearly.
• Flair is an another variation of inversion
recovery sequence with long inversion time .
• In this sequence fluid dark and fat bright .

3. STIR (SHORT TAU INVERSION RECOVERY)
• It is used to supressed the signal from fat.
• The fat signal is zero.
• In this sequence T1 is very short this sequence can be used
with T1and T2 weighted image .
• In MRI fat has high signal due to short relaxation time.
• STIR MRI is particularly useful in visualize in soft tissue
abnormalities and injuries.
• Additionally it is used to detect the lesion of breast imaging
.
• In this sequence fluid is bright and fat is dark .

4. PDW (PROTON DENSITY WEIGHTED IMAGE)
• Cortical bone and air always dark in MRI images
because they have a low proton density and therefore
return the little signal .
• PDW image are visualize number of protons per
volume.
• To achieve this both T1 and T2 components are
switched off as fully as possible ( long TR and short TE
).
• High signal intensity of fat .
• Intermediate signal intensity of fluid.

5. FLASH SEQUENCE (FAST LOW ANGLE
SHORT)
• It is a type of gradient echo sequence used in MRI to quickly
acquired signal.
• The flash sequence characterized by its speed and it often used in
dynamic imaging studies .
• It is used in cardiac images studies real time .
• The T.R time interval between RF pulse in flash sequence TR is
typically short.
• Abdominal imaging: flash MRI offers faster imaging option reduce in
motion artifact caused by breathing or bowel movement .
