Types Of Pencils, Mechanical And Non Mechanical
In human history, there have been numerous inventions that made our daily lives easier. One of
the most significant inventions is a pencil. a thin, sharp pointed device that is used for writing or
keeping a record of events or information of any kind. Writing on a whiteboard using a marker
illustrates writing or drawing patterns on a piece of paper. There are two types of pencils,
mechanical and non mechanical. In spite of the fact that a mechanical and non mechanical pencil
share one most important material that produces shapes or writings when pressed with pressure
or rubbed against a paper, they differ in the way they are used and the materials they are made
from. Non mechanical pencils are often made of wood, whereas most mechanical pencils are made
of non wood materials, such as plastic, metal, and sometimes a mixture of both. Since a mechanical
pencil is complex, it is the main emphasis of this text. In general, any mechanical pencil has five
primary components, namely lead, intermediate lead tube, knock button, barrel, and clip (U.S.
Patent No. US20110229245).
The principal component of any mechanical pencil is lead. According to Tavares, Paulo
Henrique, Campos Prado1 Barbeira, and Paulo Jorge Sanches, It is made by dispersing natural
graphite into a mixture of organic binder and spindle oil followed by a thermal treatment (p. 827).
In addition, as Tavares, Paulo Henrique, Campos Prado1 Barbeira, and Paulo Jorge Sanches, have

Pope Paul Vi And John Paul II
The third and longest chapter of the book dealt with how the documents have been received and
implemented in the church over the last forty years. What appears to be evident is there was a lot
of confusion in how and what needed to be done to implement the teachings of Vatican II.
Gaillardetz quotes John Henry Newman at the beginning of the chapter, it is uncommon that a
Council not be followed by great confusion. Gaillardetz shows that the two major proponents for
helping to understand the council documents were PopePaul VI and John Paul II. There are several
references to their writings as Pope that clarified misunderstandings or built upon the teachings in
the documents. A key issue that Pope Paul VIbuilt upon was the inclusion of the laity in the sensus
fidei, in the discernment of church matters. Gaillardetz notes in the 1980s American bishops
adopted a consultative process of listening to experts before drafting pastoral letters. The bishops
took seriously the assumption of both Vatican II and Paul VI that all God s people, and not only
the hierarchy, must engage in the central processes of ecclesial discernment. Another
implementation issue had to do with as noted in the book from Karl Rahner Vatican II marked the
beginning of the church s discovery and official realization of itself as world Church. This led to a
theology where the local church not only received from the universal church but also offer to the
church universal its own particular gifts

Sars-Cov Research Paper
Kendra Poirier Microbiology 9 December 2014 Finding the Natural Reservior of Sars CoV A
severe pneumonia like virus suddenly appeared in February 2003 in Hanoi of the Guangdong
providence in Southern China, and rapidly spread to thirty countries, infecting 8,098 people and
killing more than 774 in a matter of months [3]. Investigations identified a Chlmydia like organism
using electron microscopy in patients who had died from this atypical pneumonia, however this
could not be confirmed as the disease, as it was not seen in other patients outside China [3]. After
a global collaboration, researchers identified the etiologic agent of this atypical pneumonia to be a
coronoavirus, known known as SARS CoV [3]. The disease was eventually... Show more content on

Retrospective serologic studies indicated that proior to the SARS outbreak, there were no
antibodies in the human population (KSIAZEK ET AL 2003). This finding was vitally important
because it indicated that animal to human transmission is responsible for the SARS CoV entrance
into the human population. Two groups of researchers recently and independently demonstrated
that bats (genus Rhinolophus) are natural reservoirs of Sars like viruses, which provided very
strong evidence that SARS CoV was a zoonotic virus with wildlife orgin [6,7] The identification
of a natural reservoir is both difficult and essential. A natural reservoir is where the virus hides
between outbreaks, and is often difficult to identify because the organism does not display
symptoms of the disease. Early observation of patterns in SARS CoV transmission showed that
many of the first patients were had gone to or worked in China s exotic animal markets. Early
studies in SARS CoV identification focused on the wild animal markets of southern China.
Researchers in China identified a SARS like coronavirus in masked palm civets (Paguma larvata)
and a raccoon dog (Nyctereutes procyonoides) in one market in the city Shenzhen, part of the
southern provience of Guangdong [8]. It was found that these animals had antibodies against a
genetically close coronavirus. Interestingly enough ten civet

Minor Characters By John Wyndham
Minor characters play an overall important role in the progression of the novel; as this will be
proven by analyzing John Wyndham s book The Chrysalids. Minor characters serve an important
role in this story. They do this by showing the kind of environment Waknuk s society has, how they
deal with mutants. As well as revealing the history of Waknuk, how they acted before and their
origin. Beyond that, they play an important role by showing the progression of the novel, in which
they create subplots, and add suspense to the story. Even though minor characters are barely
mentioned in the story, they do show that they serve an overall important role in the progression of
the novel because they create subplots, in which they add suspense to the story. Equally important,
they help reveal the history of Waknuk, which is intricately connected to the setting and action of
the plot.
Minor characters have an important role in the progression of the novel, because they help reveal
the history of Waknuk and its people. Notably, this is shown when old man Jacob reveals to David
how they previously dealt with mutants/deviations. My father reckoned there was a lot less trouble
with mutants on account of it, and when there were any, they were burnt like other deviations
(Wyndham 88). This quote proclaimed by old man Jacob evokes to the reader the history of
Waknuk s actions against mutants. This quote has shown that they have
become less strict with them, and instead of burning them

Warsaw Ghetto During The Holocaust
The Holocaust can be described as the prosecution and death of about six million Jews in Europe
by the Nazis between 1933 and 1945. Other ethnic groups like pygmies were destroyed as well.
The Holocaust started when Hitler became Chancellor in 1933 and passed decree/laws
removing Jews as citizens of the country. Overtime when the Nazis occupied majority of Europe,
the Jews were forced to move out of their homes to live in specific areas under harsh conditions
which are also known as ghettos and were later transferred to the death camps. The ghettos could
be described as the Jewish city districts in which the Jews were meant to live in order to be
separated from the Non Jewish population. One of the biggest types of ghettos was the Warsaw
Ghetto in Poland where more than 400,000 Jews were crowded into an area of 1.3 square miles
and were living in harsh conditions. This was established On October 12 1940 after the decree
the establishment of a ghetto in Warsaw. All Jewish residents of Warsaw were supposed to move
into a small area, which was eventually sealed by the Nazis from the other citizens in November
1940. The ghetto was enclosed by a wall that was over 10 feet high, topped with barbed wire, and
closely guarded to prevent movement between the ghetto and the rest of Warsaw. The end of 1940
found Warsaw Jews confined to a 1.36 square mile area that was surrounded by a 10 foot wall
topped with barbed wire and broken glass. Within the ghetto there was considerable

Are Environmental Factors, Genetic Patterns, Or Previous
Are environmental factors, genetic patterns, or previous experiences responsible for every single
action people commit in life? Why bothering in telling the truth to others when everything is
justified by a certain response to some kind of stimuli? Many philosophers and psychologists
around the world have been studying the human behaviorfor several years. Most of them have
agreed on the way people react to things in life such as love, hate, truth, and lies. As a matter of
fact, various theories have been developed when it comes to justify human behavior. These theories
happen to explain the relationship between the body and mind of human beings from different
perspectives. Just to mention one, we have Behaviorism. Behaviorism, ethics, and... Show more

So, what kind of human behavior that is?
Ethics, on the other hand, also defined as moral philosophy, encloses the meaning of what is
wrong and right in life. Questions arise from this term such as what s the best way for me to go
through this situation? How can I end up being the least damaged? What s the best way for me
to live in this world without being hurt? If I lie, only this time, would it be wrong or right?
Everything goes around one self. Then, we have the term psychological egoism where every
person is being motivated by self interest and well being, without caring about others. Therefore,
lying to others in order to achieve a certain benefit becomes a self ethical psychological egoism,
in other words, if I m going to be fine and won t get hurt after lying, then it s right for me to do it
no matter what the consequences will be. Philosophers like Kant condemned any kind of lying.
They use to say that lying, even if it was the only way possible to save oneself from some
situation, was never ethically permissible. How right is it to be admitted in a hospital almost
dying from some kind of unknown condition and lie about anything in your daily life that can be
relevant to your doctor in order to diagnose what you have going on inside you? Why would you
lie to your mother when something went wrong and you could not do things the way she told you
to? Why to lie about pregnancy if it s not illegal? What to lie about sex if you re

Introduction It is matter of fact that the modern day workplace environment is changing at a very
high rate. The change is brought about by organizations need to incorporate new and innovative
strategies and models. For business entities, the new models and strategies present both
opportunities and benefits. For instance, the decision by most organizations to embrace diversity
provides them with a lot of opportunities in using the diverse knowledge and skills to their
advantage. At the same time, the issue of diversity brings about several challenges especially in
managing employees from different cultural and religious backgrounds. Despite the challenges that
the constant changes in the workplace environment offer to organizations, these changes have an
overall positive impact on their growth and development (Creasey Hiatt, 2003).
Body
The role of innovation in executing change strategies
When an organization is implementing change, there is usually resistance from its members. The
resistance is usually brought about by the members fear of the uncertainties related with the change.
For instance, there are instances when some organization members fear that the changes might lead
to them losing their jobs. In order to avoid such fears, leaders are supposed to employ innovation
when it comes to implementing change.
One of the innovation ways the management needs to use in implementing change is through

Analysis Of The Podcast The Price Of Lettuce In Brooklyn
The podcast The price of Lettuce in Brooklyn discloses the process of obtaining the Consumer
Price Index (CPI) and how it determines some of the important parts and policies of a country s
economy. Kenney, one of the speakers, spent a day with George, an economic assistant, whose
job is to visit different stores and collect the prices of specific goods every month. The economic
assistants have a list of specific goods, for which they have to collect the prices. There are many
economic assistants across the United States, who are responsible for completing the same task as
George in order to obtain the CPI. The podcast infers that through the comparison of prices of the

Left Hand Of Darkness By Ursula Le Guin
Before women like Bruce Jenner and Laverne Cox found the mainstream spotlight, gender and
sexuality were both, and still are, very concrete ideas and those who didn t conform to these ideas
were considered taboo and more often than not shamed into hiding their sexuality and whom they
were in order to fit in with the rest of the world. It was only recently that sexuality and gender
identification became a more mainstream topic in the pop culture world. Before Bruce and
Laverne there was Ursula Le Guin s novel, Left Hand of Darkness, in which she subliminally
addresses themes of gender and sexuality in a way that contradicted the mainstream s
unchangeable ideas towards gender and sexuality. She used her book to defy the gender, sexual
and sociopolitical binary in a time that was far less welcoming towards people who didn t fit
within the closet of normality. Even though her book is a science fiction novel about and alien
planet and was first published in 1969 many ideas she touches on are completely relevant and
relate back to our Earth society. There are quite a few lessons our Earth society could pick up and
learn from Le Guin s book.
Le Guin s novel is about a male human, Genly Ai, who is sent to an alien planet, Geth, with the
mission to convince the planet to join the growing intergalactic organization, like the usual sci fi
novel it is filled with adventure, danger. What is so unique to her novel is the society Le Guin

Ken Kesey s One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest
The 1960s was a decade that saw Americans experiment with mind altering drugs, and test the
limits of societal norms and behaviors with respect to what is acceptable and what is not
acceptable. As part of Ken Kesey s participation with drug experimentation, as well as time spent
working at a California mental health facility, Ken Kesey formed the basis for his novel, One
Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest, published in 1962. The book was enormously popular, selling
nine million copies, especially after the award winning movie released in 1975. Even in the face
of all this success, many school districts have voted to ban this book from their curricula. The
reasons for removal have been numerous, but can be summed up by one Ohio school, which said
that the book glorifies criminal activity, has a tendency to corrupt juveniles, and contains
descriptions of bestiality, bizarre violence, and torture, dismemberment, death, and human
elimination (Baldassarro). Although the book contains scenes of brutality and abuse to patients,
as well as racist, profane, and vulgar language, which could be disturbing to some, One Flew Over
the Cuckoo s Nest should be kept in high school curriculum because it questions society s
definition of insanity and shows the importance of expressing one s sexuality in a healthy and
responsible way. The book is set in a mental hospitaland is narrated by Chief Bromden, a Native
American who has repetitive fits of schizophrenia. The ward is run by the

The Performance Appraisal Process Is Defined As The...
The performance appraisal process is defined as the process which a manager (1) examines and
evaluates an employee s work behavior by comparing it with preset standards, (2) documents the
results of the comparison, and (3) uses the results to provide feedback to the employee to show
where improvements are needed and why (Business Dictionary, 2015). Performance appraisals
are used to determine who needs what training, and who will be promoted, demoted, retained, or
fired within organizations (Business Dictionary, 2015). Performance appraisals have changed
over time (Glen, 1990). The BARS or behaviorally anchored rating scales evaluated employee
traits such as reliability and cooperation (Glen, 1990). This system was later replaced by a
management by objectives which sets performance objectives and appraised (Glen, 1990). More
recently this was replaced by the merit pay and pay for performance systems (Glen, 1990). All the
appraisal system attempt to maximize objectivity while minimizing uncertainty and subjectivity
(Glen, 1990). Performance appraisals are often viewed as a no win situation by both managers and
employees (Glen, 1990). Managers view performance appraisals as their job to provide
performance feedback and motivate employees in order to drive individual and organizational
improvements (Glen, 1990). Employees see performance appraisals as the means to an increased
income, improved skills through developmental training and promotional opportunities (Glen,

The United States is considered to be one of the biggest powerhouses in the world, but when it
comes to education in the U.S, we re consider to be average. How is it that other nations who aren t
as powerful as the U.S, be ahead us in education? Examples of these nations are South Korea,
Finland, and Poland. Amanda Ripley sought to find an answer to this question. Amanda Ripley
followed three foreign exchange students who visited these three nations to see what made their
educationsystem superior than the U.S . She documented her journey in the book The World s

How Did The League Of Nations A Success
The League of Nations was supposed to be an international organization that would help solve
disputes between the different countries to avoid future wars and bring lasting peace. It was
endorsed on January 10th, 1920 with its headquarters located in Geneva, Switzerland. The League
was created and introduced by President Woodrow Wilson of the United States of America along
with his Fourteen Points, a plan listing terms which he believed must be comprised in the Peace
Treaty of Versailleswhich would bring an end to World War I
. Many nations were members of the
League, and it did help resolve certain issues, but unfortunately, there were quite as many failures
as there were triumphs. Eventually though, the League failed and led to World War II, only to be
replaced by the United Nations in 1946. The League of Nations, meant to be a strong power and
keep peace with all nations who were members, was only a weak and virtually power less
organization. President Woodrow Wilson created the League of Nations and used his immense
influence to attempt to achieve its success. He believed that it would guarantee lasting world peace
and resolve any disputes between nations. President Clemenceau of France and Prime Minister
Loyd George of Great Britain, while highly doubting that the League would succeed, supported it in
order that Wilson would support their plan of revenge on Germany. He was able, with the support
from Clemenceau and George, to attach the Covenant of the League to the

Feminism in Northanger Abbey and Persuasion by Jane Austen
Feminism in Northanger Abbey From my point of view, Jane Austen should be seen as a feminist
writer. As she wrote in one of her novel Persuasion, she considers that Men have had every
advantage of us in telling their own story. Education has been theirs in so much higher a degree;
the pen has been in their hands. I will not allow books to prove anything (Anne Elliot, in Jane
Austens Persuasion). Such feminist ideas are expressed in many of her literary works. In her
another novel Northanger Abbey, there are various issues discussed, which include not only
marriage, social criticism and Gothic, but also feminism as well. The essay is to discuss Jane
Austen and her feminist thoughts by analyzing Northanger Abbey. The analysis will cover three
aspects. First of all, in her book, Jane Austen expresses the view that both genders possess equal
creative and intellectual qualities, and thus women are born to be equal to men. Second, she
expresses her skepticism towards the degree of rationality and justice of the common social norms
about female behavior. The third aspect is that Austen also insists that women should act for
themselves in a rational way rather than merely trying to impress or to please the other sex. First,
though Jane Austen s Northanger Abbey is not completely categorized as a feminist novel, by
portraying the protagonist Catherine in the way Jane Austen does, she expresses her opinion that
women have been individuals with

The Passion And The Passion
One of the most memorable part of Jesus life on Earth is known as the Passion. The Passion
alludes to the suffering and death of Jesus Christ by crucifixion on Mount Calvary. Jesus predicted
these occasions and made it clear to his disciples that he would suffer freely for the salvation of the
world.
After his Last Supper, Jesus was captured in the Garden of Gethsemane outside the walls of
Jerusalem. There was a trial in which Jesus was found guilty and was then handed over to Pontius
Pilate who had him crucified. He was crowned with thorns and was led to the hill of Calvary
carrying his cross to be crucified. Then Jesus himself bore our sins in his body upon the cross, so
that, free from sin, we might live for righteousness. By his wound ... Show more content on

These accounts show both solidarity and differing qualities. Solidarity in having one Jesus Christ,
and differing qualities in depiction from 4 particular points/viewpoint. The 4 accounts are of
Matthew, Luke, John, and Mark. Matthew depicts Jesus as the Jewish Messiah, the fulfillment of
Old Testament hopes. For Luke, Jesus is the savior all individuals everywhere. He embodies
forgiveness for others. For Mark, Jesus is the suffering son of God who offers himself as a
sacrifice for sins. And John, present Jesus as the divine son who reigns even from the Cross.
Instead of contradicting each other, these representations complement each one.
All through the Gospel, the passion of Christ is already being predicted . In John 2:18 22, Jesus
predicted that the Jews would destroy His body (temple), but He would rebuild it in three days.
Moreover, in Matthew 16:21 Jesus plainly told the disciples that He would be killed and would
rise again the third day. When Jesus made these predictions, He verifies that He is the son of God,
and shows and tells that God is taking charge (NT Wright). Jesus foretold what would happen and
then His offer became

types of crime scenes; from homicide to rape. Forensic technicians can determine the distance of a

Possible evidence like fingerprints, fibers, cylinder debris in the cylinder, hair or blood can be

I would tread the waters of global expansion and would first expand with our neighbors to the

these issues would be place my businesses in tourist cities (I.E. Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, Quintana

The social culture difference that I would have to take into consideration are that many Mexicans

Apollo vs. Green Arrow
Apollo and Green Arrow/ Oliver Queen When I first learned about the Greek god Apollo in my
Classical Mythology class, he reminded me of Oliver Queen. Oliver Queen is a character from
one of my favorite television show called Smallville . He inherited a big industrial empire from
his parents when they passed away. He was a playboy who did not care to give back to the
society and only did what pleases him. One day, when Oliver was out on his boat, he was pushed
overboard into the sea by an employee. After being marooned on an island, he learned to hunt and
improved his survival skills. He later found a small settlement on the island and saw that some of

who was also Lex Luthor s, Oliver s enemy, ex wife. She is also very cunning and self
perseverative. She only cared for herself and fled when Oliver came into trouble. She later came
back to be a good friend and support system for the vigilante team. Oliver also had flings with
Betsy Braddock and Adrienne Frost. Betsy Braddock was noticed by Oliver because she had

Aristotle Virtuous
According to Aristotle virtue is achieving excellence of the soul. (1) For man to become virtuous
they must build habits that model virtuous behavior. Aristotle believed that moral virtue forms
through habit and no one is born virtuous. Under this premise virtue is both learned and practiced
through our behaviors. When one acts in a moral and virtuous way they become more virtuous, the
opposite is true also that if one acts in a non virtuous way they will learn to become less virtuous.
To be virtuous you also must maintain a balance which is called the mean. Aristotlefurther states
that you cannot merely define virtuein terms of characteristics, you must also specify the kind of
characteristic, and that this virtue renders good the thing itself of which it is the excellence, and
performs its function well at the same time.(2) To live in the mean is to be virtuous. The mean
is making choices that are the right amount of virtue, or the correct balance of choices. To act
either in excess or a lack of virtue is a vice. It is the ability of choosing to act in the mean or
middle that is considered virtuous. This can easily been in examples, if a wealthy man had the
resources to help others and give some of his money he could be a virtuous man if he did so while
acting in the mean. If the same man did not give to charities... Show more content on

is normal to feel some despair with loss, so the mean would be so grieve then return to a more

opposite would cause it to continue as a vice. If someone fell into despair and never recovered
from it and let it consume their life this would be a vice. Another vice of despair would be if
someone had a despairing situation and did not react to it at all, or shunned the loss all together

Positive Effects Of A Bushfire
Australia is the most flammable country on Earth. In 1770, as Captain James Cook sailed along
the east coast of Australia, and in his journal he wrote that Australia was a continent of smoke due
to all the bushfires he could see from his ship. A bushfire is a fire that burns in grass, bush or
woodland that can threaten life, property, and the ecosystem. Bushfires can be natural disasters and
human caused disasters, since they can be started both ways. They have undesired effects on the
ecosystem and people. There are measures taken to prevent these fires which mostly succeed, but
repairing the areas after the bushfireis over usually takes a while.
Bushfires can start for many different reasons. They are more likely to occur when the weather is
very hot and dry. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Examples of positive effects are when the fire destroys some adult trees and burns the branches,
trunks and leaves of the others, and burns the undergrowth. This effect is positive because it
means the seeds and soil that needed a fire to release them, can now germinate. Young plants can
also grow vigorously due to the increase in light caused by the fire. A fire can also change the
structure in the soil by making it thinner and releasing its stored nutrients which give the ideal
condition for seeds to germinate. However this can also be considered a negative effect, because
at the same time it makes the soil easier to be washed or blown away. More examples of negative
effects bushfires bring are that they significantly reduce the number of animals in an ecosystem,
which can eventually lead to extinction of endangered species. Many animals die while trying to
escape the fire, while some escape to a safe area. The escaped animals will not be able to return
until food is available again. This damages the food web and can take years to return to normal.
Bushfires can easily get out of control, and that leads them into

Child Labor Essay
Child Labor
When child labor is examined, individuals and societies feel moral and emotional tugs. The
Freudian super ego is appalled that, especially in the modern world, there would be such a
preposterous issue. The Freudian id would rationalize numerous reasons, even justifications, of
why child labor exists and would be necessary. Every corner of the earth has known this conflict to
one degree or another. In the United States, the conflict is activated or denied with the purchase of
an expensive sneaker. The child who is exploited on the other side of the world rarely receives a
nod of concern for the slavery he endures. Countless items are similarly purchased with similar child
working conditions. The children of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Child labor is not necessary if the income from adults is high enough to provide a reasonable
standard of living. Almost without exception adult labor is a substitution for child labor. Child
labor is often justified by an attitude that says the children are developing good habits that will
make them constantly employable as adults.
Without education, the child often has no other alternative than to enter the work force while still
a minor. As a handicapped, probably illiterate child, he will be sentenced to a lifetime of poverty.
Access to education becomes increasingly remote. Over 125 million children are without formal
schooling. One comparison points out that the cost of educating these children would be 10 billion
dollars, a sizeable sum except when recognizing that this is the cost of four days of global military
spending.
For child labor conditions to improve, strong workers rights codes are necessary. Early studies
emphasize this point by pointing out that child labor problems extend beyond long hours and poor
pay and include highly abusive, sometimes criminal practices. Intentionally distorting and
concealing where and when the children are working can further violate child labor rights. With
multiple layers of production and outsourcing, it is hard to identify the degree and amount of work
that is child labor. What amounted to slave labor in the 19th century was the condition that was
prominent especially in

Comparison Of Elizabeth Proctor In The Crucible
I will not judge you John, says Elizabeth Proctor from The Crucible as she forgives John and
gives him the decision whether he lives or dies. Elizabeth Proctor is a Christian and holy woman
who is married to John Proctor will never tell a lie. She lives on the outskirts of town and gets
pregnant during the story. I am most parallel to Elizabeth Proctorbecause we are both loyal,
forgiving, and caring. In The Crucible Elizabeth Proctor is loyal, just like I am. Elizabeth
Proctor is loyal because she stayed with her husband even though he had an affair. Although she
was mad and angry at John, she never left him and stuck by his side. I resemble Elizabeth
because of my loyalty. I am loyal because I can always keep a secret. For example, my one friend
told me what girl he finds attractive. He trusted me with his secret because of my loyalty and I
have yet to tell anybody his secret. My friends could tell me anything and trust me that I will not
tell anybody. I am also loyal because I stick to my word. For instance my brother and I made a
promise to each other that we will stick up for each other no matter what. One time last year he
came home after curfew and my parents were mad at him. I stuck up for him and distracted my
parents by taking them behind our house to see a tree that fell down. I made up the excuse to get

Romanticism In Coleridge s The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner
Coleridge had been a neighbor, friend and collaborator of Wordsworth and their partnership
remained fruitful for the growth of English literature. Their publication of Preface to Lyrical
Ballads heralded the birth of Romanticism. Coleridge along with Wordsworth, librated 18th
century s poetry from the strict shackles and put along the road to new freedom and achievement.
Compared to Wordsworth, Coleridge was subtle and comprehensive, more gifted with poetic
sensibilities, but he was indolent and dreamy and liked to lay on the floating lotus like Lord
Vishnu and wake up a while only to sleep again for ages. Coleridge s The Rime of The Ancient
Marinerhas been founded on a dream of his friend Cruickshank, who fancied, he has been a
skeleton ship with figures in it. It was Wordsworth, who suggested Coleridge the killing of the
Albatross, the revenge of spirits and the stillness of the ship and consequently his sailors dying of
thirst. Coleridge blended natural with supernaturaland gave a romantic touch to his poetry. What is
the supernatural? Through the ages this phenomenon cannot be explained by the known laws of
nature. If these supernatural elements lead to the happiness of man they are consider being
benevolent, but If they cause suffering and misery they are called evil spirits. Literature has

Eleanor Conflict

struggling to find a seat on the bus. As the bus driver is yelling at her to sit down, everybody on

But eventually Park unwillingly lets her sit down next to him. Eleanor couldn t tell if the Asian

Eleanor is confused as to why Park let her sit down. She wonders if he is one of the bullies based
on how he yelled and sweared at her to sit down. Or, if he is just really dumb. This shows that
Eleanor grows as a result of conflicts with Park because she develops a feeling for Park. It may
not be a good feeling or good first impression, but he is the only one that let her sit down. A
second piece of evidence that supports this is when Park gives Eleanor a comic for the first time.

on the western side of the strait. As far as Magellan s voyage to discover a western sea route to
Spice Islands, he was shrewd to be able to develop such navigational skills to determine which
direction the fleet was flowing. As stated in Document C, In addition, he regularly sent small
scouting parties in long boats. Sending out small leagues in long boats and small boats were
beneficial because the process of getting through straits was quicker. In order to prepare for any
obstacle, Magellan was always prepared. As presented in Document C, He ordered lookouts
scrambling to the highest perch on the ships, where they could see the waterways and obstacles
that lay ahead. Magellan sending of his crew members to the highest perch on the ship is yet risky,
but also has an advantage so the helmsman can be prepared for difficult obstacles along way of
their destination. Some of these obstacles included diseases like scurvy. Document D states,

Small Round Lenses Research Paper
There is a trick that makes high prescription lenses for nearsighted vision thinner. You can use it to
minimize the lens thickness of even low index lens materials such as standard CR 39 plastic. The
trick is buying small round lenses. The lens curvature of a minus prescription (for nearsightedness)
is concave. That is, the lens is thin at the center and gradually thickens until you reach the edge
where it s thickest. If you made the lens thin at the edge, it would be too thin at the center, which
would make the lens too fragile. Therefore, these lenses have an absolute minimum thickness at the
center to ensure its strength. This means that large lenses with a high minus prescription can have
very thick edges. The lower the lens material... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
High index lenses are compatible with a huge number of frame styles, which allows you to wear
glasses you feel good about. A large selection is necessary to find a frame style that works best
with the shape of your face. Not all styles are compatible with all types of faces. This is also true
of frames made for small round lenses. Small round lenses may work for people with angular
features because they soften their appearance. They also work for oval faces because any lens
shape works for this type of face. However, these lenses can make people with round faces look
cartoonish, and can look out of place on people with square faces. If you re physically active,
your choice of sport frame styles is greatly diminished. They Provide Less UV, Glare, and Wind
Protection If you spend lots of time outdoors, your eyes should be protected from ultraviolet.
Avoiding UV associated eye problems require consistent use of glasses or sunglasses that block
the sun s UV radiation. Lenses that block UV are less effective if they don t completely cover the
eyes. UV light can enter the eyes by going around the lenses. In other words, the smaller the lens,
the bigger the gap through which UV reaches the eyes. That s why sun glasses tend to be either
large or tend to wrap around the

Is Rescission Ab Initio
Rescission, in general, means terminating of contract. It can be divided into two different types
namely Rescission ab initio and Rescission de futuro. The existence of rescission ab initio give rise
not only to the ground of terminating a contract but terminating a contract from the beginning itself
as if the contract has never been existed or entered into. Rescission de futuro, also known as
rescission for breach, refers to the termination of contract due to the breach of contractby the other
parties and therefore the courts grant restoration of any damages suffered by the affected parties.
In most of the cases, rescission ab initio is likely to be the most demanded remedies asked by the
parties because the restoration granted includes all... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rescission ab intio can be established when the parties entered into a contract without free consent.
Consent is not freely given when one of the contracting parties commited any of the vitiating
factors. The vitiating factors are fraud, coercion, undue influence and misrepresentation. Any
contract that has been entered into on the grounds of these four vitiating factors shall be rescinded
ab intio. In contrary, rescission de futuro can be established when one of the parties has refused to
perform as promised. Refusal to act or to carry out performance is thereby considered as breach of
contract. The innocent party will be given the rights to terminating the contract de

  • 2. Types Of Pencils, Mechanical And Non Mechanical In human history, there have been numerous inventions that made our daily lives easier. One of the most significant inventions is a pencil. a thin, sharp pointed device that is used for writing or keeping a record of events or information of any kind. Writing on a whiteboard using a marker illustrates writing or drawing patterns on a piece of paper. There are two types of pencils, mechanical and non mechanical. In spite of the fact that a mechanical and non mechanical pencil share one most important material that produces shapes or writings when pressed with pressure or rubbed against a paper, they differ in the way they are used and the materials they are made from. Non mechanical pencils are often made of wood, whereas most mechanical pencils are made of non wood materials, such as plastic, metal, and sometimes a mixture of both. Since a mechanical pencil is complex, it is the main emphasis of this text. In general, any mechanical pencil has five primary components, namely lead, intermediate lead tube, knock button, barrel, and clip (U.S. Patent No. US20110229245). The principal component of any mechanical pencil is lead. According to Tavares, Paulo Henrique, Campos Prado1 Barbeira, and Paulo Jorge Sanches, It is made by dispersing natural graphite into a mixture of organic binder and spindle oil followed by a thermal treatment (p. 827). What appears to be evident is there was a lot of confusion in how and what needed to be done to implement the teachings of Vatican II. Gaillardetz quotes John Henry Newman at the beginning of the chapter, it is uncommon that a Council not be followed by great confusion. Gaillardetz shows that the two major proponents for helping to understand the council documents were PopePaul VI and John Paul II. There are several references to their writings as Pope that clarified misunderstandings or built upon the teachings in the documents. A key issue that Pope Paul VIbuilt upon was the inclusion of the laity in the sensus fidei, in the discernment of church matters. Gaillardetz notes in the 1980s American bishops adopted a consultative process of listening to experts before drafting pastoral letters. The bishops took seriously the assumption of both Vatican II and Paul VI that all God s people, and not only the hierarchy, must engage in the central processes of ecclesial discernment. Another implementation issue had to do with as noted in the book from Karl Rahner Vatican II marked the beginning of the church s discovery and official realization of itself as world Church. This led to a theology where the local church not only received from the universal church but also offer to the church universal its own particular gifts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This finding was vitally important because it indicated that animal to human transmission is responsible for the SARS CoV entrance into the human population. Two groups of researchers recently and independently demonstrated that bats (genus Rhinolophus) are natural reservoirs of Sars like viruses, which provided very strong evidence that SARS CoV was a zoonotic virus with wildlife orgin [6,7] The identification of a natural reservoir is both difficult and essential. A natural reservoir is where the virus hides between outbreaks, and is often difficult to identify because the organism does not display symptoms of the disease. Early observation of patterns in SARS CoV transmission showed that many of the first patients were had gone to or worked in China s exotic animal markets. • 6. Minor Characters By John Wyndham Minor characters play an overall important role in the progression of the novel; as this will be proven by analyzing John Wyndham s book The Chrysalids. Minor characters serve an important role in this story. They do this by showing the kind of environment Waknuk s society has, how they deal with mutants. As well as revealing the history of Waknuk, how they acted before and their origin. Beyond that, they play an important role by showing the progression of the novel, in which they create subplots, and add suspense to the story. Even though minor characters are barely mentioned in the story, they do show that they serve an overall important role in the progression of the novel because they create subplots, in which they add suspense to the story. Equally important, they help reveal the history of Waknuk, which is intricately connected to the setting and action of the plot. Minor characters have an important role in the progression of the novel, because they help reveal the history of Waknuk and its people. Notably, this is shown when old man Jacob reveals to David how they previously dealt with mutants/deviations. My father reckoned there was a lot less trouble with mutants on account of it, and when there were any, they were burnt like other deviations (Wyndham 88). This quote proclaimed by old man Jacob evokes to the reader the history of Waknuk s actions against mutants. What s the best way for me to live in this world without being hurt? If I lie, only this time, would it be wrong or right? Everything goes around one self. It was only recently that sexuality and gender identification became a more mainstream topic in the pop culture world. Before Bruce and Laverne there was Ursula Le Guin s novel, Left Hand of Darkness, in which she subliminally addresses themes of gender and sexuality in a way that contradicted the mainstream s unchangeable ideas towards gender and sexuality. She used her book to defy the gender, sexual and sociopolitical binary in a time that was far less welcoming towards people who didn t fit within the closet of normality. Even though her book is a science fiction novel about and alien planet and was first published in 1969 many ideas she touches on are completely relevant and relate back to our Earth society. Ken Kesey s One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest The 1960s was a decade that saw Americans experiment with mind altering drugs, and test the limits of societal norms and behaviors with respect to what is acceptable and what is not acceptable. As part of Ken Kesey s participation with drug experimentation, as well as time spent working at a California mental health facility, Ken Kesey formed the basis for his novel, One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest, published in 1962. The book was enormously popular, selling nine million copies, especially after the award winning movie released in 1975. Even in the face of all this success, many school districts have voted to ban this book from their curricula. The reasons for removal have been numerous, but can be summed up by one Ohio school, which said that the book glorifies criminal activity, has a tendency to corrupt juveniles, and contains descriptions of bestiality, bizarre violence, and torture, dismemberment, death, and human elimination (Baldassarro). Although the book contains scenes of brutality and abuse to patients, as well as racist, profane, and vulgar language, which could be disturbing to some, One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest should be kept in high school curriculum because it questions society s definition of insanity and shows the importance of expressing one s sexuality in a healthy and responsible way. The performance appraisal process is defined as the process which a manager (1) examines and evaluates an employee s work behavior by comparing it with preset standards, (2) documents the results of the comparison, and (3) uses the results to provide feedback to the employee to show where improvements are needed and why (Business Dictionary, 2015). Performance appraisals are used to determine who needs what training, and who will be promoted, demoted, retained, or fired within organizations (Business Dictionary, 2015). Performance appraisals have changed over time (Glen, 1990). The BARS or behaviorally anchored rating scales evaluated employee traits such as reliability and cooperation (Glen, 1990). This system was later replaced by a management by objectives which sets performance objectives and appraised (Glen, 1990). More recently this was replaced by the merit pay and pay for performance systems (Glen, 1990). All the appraisal system attempt to maximize objectivity while minimizing uncertainty and subjectivity (Glen, 1990). Performance appraisals are often viewed as a no win situation by both managers and employees (Glen, 1990). How Did The League Of Nations A Success The League of Nations was supposed to be an international organization that would help solve disputes between the different countries to avoid future wars and bring lasting peace. It was endorsed on January 10th, 1920 with its headquarters located in Geneva, Switzerland. The League was created and introduced by President Woodrow Wilson of the United States of America along with his Fourteen Points, a plan listing terms which he believed must be comprised in the Peace Treaty of Versailleswhich would bring an end to World War I . Many nations were members of the League, and it did help resolve certain issues, but unfortunately, there were quite as many failures as there were triumphs. As she wrote in one of her novel Persuasion, she considers that Men have had every advantage of us in telling their own story. Education has been theirs in so much higher a degree; the pen has been in their hands. I will not allow books to prove anything (Anne Elliot, in Jane Austens Persuasion). Such feminist ideas are expressed in many of her literary works. In her another novel Northanger Abbey, there are various issues discussed, which include not only marriage, social criticism and Gothic, but also feminism as well. The essay is to discuss Jane Austen and her feminist thoughts by analyzing Northanger Abbey. The analysis will cover three aspects. First of all, in her book, Jane Austen expresses the view that both genders possess equal creative and intellectual qualities, and thus women are born to be equal to men. Second, she expresses her skepticism towards the degree of rationality and justice of the common social norms about female behavior. The third aspect is that Austen also insists that women should act for themselves in a rational way rather than merely trying to impress or to please the other sex. First, though Jane Austen s Northanger Abbey is not completely categorized as a feminist novel, by portraying the protagonist Catherine in the way Jane Austen does, she expresses her opinion that women have been individuals with ... • 27. Aristotle Virtuous According to Aristotle virtue is achieving excellence of the soul. (1) For man to become virtuous they must build habits that model virtuous behavior. Aristotle believed that moral virtue forms through habit and no one is born virtuous. Under this premise virtue is both learned and practiced through our behaviors. When one acts in a moral and virtuous way they become more virtuous, the opposite is true also that if one acts in a non virtuous way they will learn to become less virtuous. To be virtuous you also must maintain a balance which is called the mean. Aristotlefurther states that you cannot merely define virtuein terms of characteristics, you must also specify the kind of characteristic, and that this virtue renders good the thing itself of which it is the excellence, and performs its function well at the same time.(2) To live in the mean is to be virtuous. The mean is making choices that are the right amount of virtue, or the correct balance of choices. To act either in excess or a lack of virtue is a vice. It is the ability of choosing to act in the mean or middle that is considered virtuous. This can easily been in examples, if a wealthy man had the resources to help others and give some of his money he could be a virtuous man if he did so while acting in the mean. In 1770, as Captain James Cook sailed along the east coast of Australia, and in his journal he wrote that Australia was a continent of smoke due to all the bushfires he could see from his ship. A bushfire is a fire that burns in grass, bush or woodland that can threaten life, property, and the ecosystem. Bushfires can be natural disasters and human caused disasters, since they can be started both ways. They have undesired effects on the ecosystem and people. Examples of positive effects are when the fire destroys some adult trees and burns the branches, trunks and leaves of the others, and burns the undergrowth. This effect is positive because it means the seeds and soil that needed a fire to release them, can now germinate. Young plants can also grow vigorously due to the increase in light caused by the fire. A fire can also change the structure in the soil by making it thinner and releasing its stored nutrients which give the ideal condition for seeds to germinate. However this can also be considered a negative effect, because at the same time it makes the soil easier to be washed or blown away. More examples of negative effects bushfires bring are that they significantly reduce the number of animals in an ecosystem, which can eventually lead to extinction of endangered species. Many animals die while trying to escape the fire, while some escape to a safe area. The escaped animals will not be able to return until food is available again. This damages the food web and can take years to return to normal. Bushfires can easily get out of control, and that leads them into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Almost without exception adult labor is a substitution for child labor. Child labor is often justified by an attitude that says the children are developing good habits that will make them constantly employable as adults. Without education, the child often has no other alternative than to enter the work force while still a minor. As a handicapped, probably illiterate child, he will be sentenced to a lifetime of poverty. Access to education becomes increasingly remote. Over 125 million children are without formal schooling. One comparison points out that the cost of educating these children would be 10 billion dollars, a sizeable sum except when recognizing that this is the cost of four days of global military spending. For child labor conditions to improve, strong workers rights codes are necessary. Early studies emphasize this point by pointing out that child labor problems extend beyond long hours and poor pay and include highly abusive, sometimes criminal practices. Intentionally distorting and concealing where and when the children are working can further violate child labor rights. With multiple layers of production and outsourcing, it is hard to identify the degree and amount of work that is child labor. Romanticism In Coleridge s The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner Coleridge had been a neighbor, friend and collaborator of Wordsworth and their partnership remained fruitful for the growth of English literature. Their publication of Preface to Lyrical Ballads heralded the birth of Romanticism. Coleridge along with Wordsworth, librated 18th century s poetry from the strict shackles and put along the road to new freedom and achievement. Compared to Wordsworth, Coleridge was subtle and comprehensive, more gifted with poetic sensibilities, but he was indolent and dreamy and liked to lay on the floating lotus like Lord Vishnu and wake up a while only to sleep again for ages. Coleridge s The Rime of The Ancient Marinerhas been founded on a dream of his friend Cruickshank, who fancied, he has been a skeleton ship with figures in it. You can use it to minimize the lens thickness of even low index lens materials such as standard CR 39 plastic. The trick is buying small round lenses. The lens curvature of a minus prescription (for nearsightedness) is concave. That is, the lens is thin at the center and gradually thickens until you reach the edge where it s thickest. If you made the lens thin at the edge, it would be too thin at the center, which would make the lens too fragile. Therefore, these lenses have an absolute minimum thickness at the center to ensure its strength. This means that large lenses with a high minus prescription can have very thick edges. A large selection is necessary to find a frame style that works best with the shape of your face. Not all styles are compatible with all types of faces. This is also true of frames made for small round lenses. Small round lenses may work for people with angular features because they soften their appearance. They also work for oval faces because any lens shape works for this type of face. However, these lenses can make people with round faces look cartoonish, and can look out of place on people with square faces.
