Film Production Industry And Its Recording Process
Describe Innovation Targets
The major objective of the innovation is to target and address the sluggish and superfluous technique
of the existing feature film production industry and its recording process. The plan suggests methods
reduce the time spent in the recording of the images during the process of filming a feature film
production. The innovation will be made using multiple cameras recording through new
technologies in advanced camera resolution and camera size (Steyn, 2013). The scope of the
problem lies for the whole feature film industry as this slow process of filming affects the whole
industry. When new technology will be introduced in the filming production industry then the
development of pictures will become a more advanced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If proper resolution cameras are not used while shooting a video than the quality of picture degrades
and it may not be possible to take a shot in a single instance. With the use of multiple high–
resolution cameras with greater size in megapixels, the capturing of video will be easy. This
innovation will include placing the cameras at different angles and then videoing the film. When
different cameras of high resolution and big size picture will be placed at different angles, the video
will be made from all possible angles (Mansurov, 2015). Thus, no more retakes will be required in
shooting the film. This will make the process of filming a movie faster and will reduce the overall
cost and time of film production. Thus, the slower and tedious process of a film production will
improve to a better and faster process. By reducing the cost of production this innovation will meet
the needs of all the stakeholders involved in it. Further, the filming industry studios which are the
organizations for developing a film will get a positive hike in profits. This will fulfill their need of
earning more and more profit in their business. In addition to reducing the cost, the theater owners
will get the advantage of reducing the cost of renting the motion pictures for presentation. This will
help them increase their business and will fulfill their needs. The investors of the film production
will get their

Analysis Of Netflix
LONDON, xxxx xxth, 2017 – Cinesite Studios has announced the delivery of more than 150 VFX
shots for the Netflix Originals' ' sci–fi film, MUTE, which reunited reunites the studio with British
director Duncan Jones. Working alongside Twickenham–based studio, The Senate, a dedicated team
of over 50 artists delivered the seamless invisible VFX in just 12 weeks.
Cinesite Studios had has a good relationshipworked previously with Duncan Jones and producer
Stuart Feinnegan having worked with them both previously on the sci–fi cult classic MOON in
2009.
The latest highly–anticipated project comes from a story Jones created twelve years ago. Produced

The foreground of the original live action was shot against greenscreen. Cinesite created the
background using a combination of 2.5D projections populated with CG stalls along with crowd and
smoke elements supplied by the production.
Eagle–eyed aficionados of Jones's films may notice a brief appearance by Gerty in the background
of another sequence, a nod to Cinesite's previous work on MOON.
In addition to adding interactive monitors to the interior of a large indoor swimming pool, Cinesite's
environment work included interior shots of a library, a coffee shop and 'Hackers Hall', a seedy
indoor market with line upon line of dark market stall type booths filled with screens, hackers, geeks
and dodgy technology–based activities. Futuristic matte paintings imagining some of Berlin's best–
known buildings as they would appear 34 years from now were also crafted along with blood shots
and various weapons to support the film's violent and gritty fight sequences.
Like all the digital environments, Hackers Hall entailed a range of "invisible effects". The original
shot had a few market stalls in the foreground shot against a giant green screen. Cinesite's team
created models using the foreground as a reference and then created 2.5D projections using other
plates to texture the stalls from all angles; the CG stalls were then replicated to populate the
background. The addition of

The 12 Basic Principles Of Motion Graphics
Motion graphic is consist of two words. Motion is the action or process of moving or of changing
place or position; movement. power of movement, as of a living body. A bodily movement or
change of posture; gesture. ("the definition of motion," n.d.). Graphics is the art of drawing, Movies,
Television. the titles, credits, subtitles, announcements, etc., shown on the screen before, or as part
of, a film or television program. ("the definition of graphic," n.d.)
The term "motion graphics" was first posed by John Withney, the well–known animator, in 1960.
Saul Bass was the first one who outstandingly took advantage of motion graphics in his works (Yu,
Li, 2008).
But, there is no universally accepted definition of the term Motion Graphics. It generally refers to
the movement or animation of words, letters, shapes, or artistic elements, sometimes within three–
dimensional space.
II.1.3.1 Principle of Motion Graphic
There are 12 basic principles in motion graphic based on The Illusion of Life: Disney Animation
book (Thomas, F., & Johnston, O. 1995), which are fellows :

What Is Collaborative Creative Work
The collaborative creative work was a group performance for the Creative and Performing Arts
(CAPA) class. The performance explored notions and concepts of technology as a tool for art, which
was a predominant component of the course over the semester. The intention of the group was to
examine, analyse and discuss how technologies can alter multimodal texts and the effect and impact
this has on the text's original form and audience. This essay will provide reflection and critique on
the process, collaboration, group contribution and final performance, and whether or not what
achieved what we set out. This paper will also examine issues, topics, structure and how we ended

concepts that undoubtedly influenced the final performance. This paper discussed the underpinning
ideas behind our motif, the process of arriving to an idea, the physical process and structure of
presenting the performance and issues that arose in the performance. The content of this topic truly

Bigger Than Life By Nicholas Ray
Nicholas Ray's Bigger Than Life is a story of an American family man who tries to have it all and
fails because of his addiction. In an effort to visually portray this, Ray largely abandons
conventional Cinemascope practices and tends to revert to the paradigms of the Academy ratio.
Rather than using Cinemascope to highlight spectacle, Ray films a small family melodrama. Instead
of splitting the screen into thirds and adjusting the mise–en–scène to visually fill up the screen, Ray
uses close–ups, single–person shots, and symmetry. He frequently divides the screen in two at the
center, essentially treating each side as an Academy ratio film. Since Ray focuses less on
'clotheslining' actors, he is able to bring the audience closer to understand the psychology of Ed
Avery (and physcially closer to him than most Cinemascope films would go). The sequence towards
the end of film is of paramount importance–Ray takes the tension, anger, cruelty, and derangement
that has been building throughout the film and raises it to a high enough level that Ed is willing to
kill his own son. To get this across, Ray uses composition to show Ed as isolated, sinister, and
dangerous. Two of the scenes in particular from the sequence deviate from his regular techniques, as
he stages the family in a single frame to highlight the growing distance between them all.
Throughout the film, Ray used close–ups to show Ed's mental state; in this sequence, Ray largely
abandons that technique–Ed's state–of–mind

Mobile Edge Computing : Analysis And Vision Of Mobile Edge...
Abstract: – The vision of 5G Mobile networks lies in the provisioning of high throughput (over
10GB/s data rate), low latency (less than 1m for radio link latency) and connecting more devices
(over 1M terminal per square kilometer). This is driven by the need for the Internet of Things (IoT)
applications (e.g. smart cites smart homes), rich immersive multimedia applications (e.g. live video
streaming) and the tactile Internet. To achieve 5G targets, Mobile edge computing (MEC) is
regarded as a vital solution to provide satisfactory Quality of Experience (QoE) for multimedia
services. Although video streaming applications are seeking more bandwidth and exorbitant video
quality. Particularly for virtual reality applications or video on ... Show more content on

And the second edge is that when a wireless user equipment (EU) streams videos, there will be 2
network segments on the end–to–end path that will have different characteristics, 1) radio access
network (RAN) which is wireless. 2) Mobile core network and the internet that in most cases are
wired, the wired segments have higher bandwidth–delay–product (BDP) due to the high–capacity
over–provisioned backbone link and long latency due to long distance that the data transport
between the global Internet.
One of the major networking problems is the insufficiency of structured resource management
schemes to provide Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE) support for real–time
applications, primarily in networks that can be affected by delay or packet loss. E.g. the video or
VOIP services are not tolerant to packet loss that should not more than 1%, especially if the system
is using compressed codecs e.g. G.722, and the latency is also playing a major impact on the
services which should be less than 150ms between two end–points [3].
The delivery of mobile content, especially in high definition (HD) videos with high resolution, has
become one of the main topics to add to the context of 5G network development in the future It

YouTube, The Internet and the future of movies
The Internet has transformed the music industry. Sales of CDs in retail music stores have been
declining while sales of songs downloaded through the Internet to iPods and other portable music
players are skyrocketing.
And the music industry is still contending with millions of people illegally downloading songs for
free.
Will the motion picture industry have a similar fate?
Increased levels of high–speed Internet access, powerful PCs with DVD readers and writers,
portable video devices, and leading–edge file sharing services have made downloading of video
content faster and easier than ever. Free and often illegal video downloads are currently outpacing

Viacom claimed in a 2008 lawsuit that over 150,000 unauthorized clips of its copyrighted television
programs had appeared on YouTube. The media conglomerate is seeking $1 billion in damages from
YouTube.
When Google purchased YouTube in 2006 for $1.65 billion, the site gained considerable clout in the
media world. With YouTube reporting 100 million video views per day and becoming one of the
most visited sites on the entire Web, the major production studios were not going to stand idly by
while some–one else profited off of movies that cost them an average of over $106 million to make.
NBC Universal, for example, assigned three employees to search YouTube every day for property
that had been posted without permission.
Of course, in the end, the chase probably is not worthwhile. Rather than pursue an unachievable
goal, some of the major studios, including NBC Universal, Time Warners Warner Brothers
Entertainment, and News Corporations Twentieth Century Fox, sought more constructive solutions.
They entered into negotiations with YouTube to establish licensing agreements that would make
copyrighted content available legally. The licensing model was already in place between YouTube
and several major music companies. Furthermore, YouTube had already engineered successful
arrangements with major studios to market movies on the site.
The studios clearly recognize the value of getting exposure for their movies on such a heavily

Digital Technologies and Technological Advances
In this essay I will discuss the ways in which changes over recent years to new media formats and
platforms have led to innovation in the distribution of work created by film makers. New media is a
term that is used to describe the on–demand access that is now available to users twenty four hours a
day on any digital device or platform and this includes interactivity between users and real–time
creation of original and unregulated content. The creation of the internet and its evolution over the
past decade has led to various innovations including the introduction of social networking and video
sharing websites and these have had a significant impact on the production and distribution of film
makers work. These technological advances have affected a diverse range of audiences including
mainstream, small specific groups and individuals.
"Digital Technologies have, over the past quarter–century or so, transformed our world." Hassan and
Thomas (2006), p.1
These innovations in the media industry bring both advantages and disadvantages, both for the film
makers and also the audience. A major advantage is that it is now possible for anyone to become a
film–maker with the arrival of video sharing websites on the internet. However an unforeseen
negative consequence of this is the huge volume of random and pointless videos that are being
"produced" and posted on these sites which means that the audience's searching and viewing time
and ultimately patience is inevitably taken up by

Abstract–With the increasing variety of mobile applications, reducing the energy utilization of
mobile devices is a major challenge in multimedia streaming applications. In this paper we
investigate energy–efficient offloading policy for transcoding as a service in a generic mobile cloud
system. we explores how to minimize the energy consumption of the backlight when displaying a
video stream without adversely impacting the user's visual experience. we put forward algorithms to
solve the fundamental problem and prove the optimality in terms of energy savings. Finally, based
on the algorithms, we present a cloud–based energy–saving service.
The proposed offloading policy can reduce energy consumption on both mobile devices and the
cloud jointly, which provides guidelines for the design of green mobile cloud. Keyword: Mobile

Video Editing Essay
TASK 1 – PROPOSAL (Typed document – minimum 1000 words)
Special investigation into editing
I will be talking about editing work through the industry of media, we will start some of the
software that is used in the industry today, these include, Premier pro, Avid, and final cut, avid has
always been a strong editing software in the industry, but as some technology rises and falls premier
pro is just edging the gap into the industry, as regular updates of this software make it the better
choice for editing films together as different filters, transitions and bugs with in the software are
updated, for the software to be crisp. Final cut on the other hand is mostly use by educational
establishments for training people to use software like this in the future as in the last few years final
cut has dropped down in consumer use as it is not been updated and is less consumer friendly for
use then premier and avid, This is reason for it being used in education.
Methodology of Video Editing
There are several different ways to edit video and each method has its pros and cons. Although most
editors go for non–linear editing for most projects, it makes sense to have an understanding of how
each method works, as some people prefer different options or how some look, i.e Vintage

Technology In The Film Industry Essay
Introduction
The film industry has continuously changed since its inception due to rapid technology
advancements. Camera technology has been a key factor that has influenced the growth of
filmmaking. The first motion picture in the world was produced in the early 1880s, and the first
public screening occurred ten years later. It didn't take long for the quality of films to improve as
new filmmaking equipment emerged. Ever since the first movie was produced, the film industry has
been continuously changing in response to emerging filmmaking technology. Introduction of digital
photography and digital data storage along with the development of internet significantly influenced
the film industry (Barsam, 2015). These technologies contributed ... Show more content on

Digital technology has erased the boundaries and offered new opportunities for shooting films.
Shooting with digital cameras tends to be easier as filmmakers can shoot more scenes in less time.
Often, multiple digital cameras can be used on the same shot but in different angles which assists in
reducing the number of retakes. Digital shooting allows filmmakers to shoot multiple takes and in
different angles at fewer costs (Murray, 2012). With new steady camera equipment, the footage shot
is more precise and intimate. This enhances the audience experience as the camera view is authentic.
Also, the cameras save time wasted on reshooting the same scene.
IT has also changed the way movies are shot particularly through application of film special effects.
The film industry heavily relies on illusions to simulate imaginary events in a story (McClean,
2007). Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) is another key technology that is applied to special
effects to enhance films. CGI is mainly used in special effects to enable filmmakers to control the
scenes instead of using many extra actors. This has simplified film production and reduced the costs
incurred. A lot of movies especially those classified under fiction, action, and horror genres rely on
CGI.
Post–Production
Previously, editing used to be a challenge for most filmmakers. Often, they relied on manual
methods when filming to add effects to the films. Incorporating visual effects to the film was a
demanding task that

Also how population growth eventually outstrips our resources such as land, water, energy
production, and food production. According to the video, the number of population could reach nine
billion by 2050. This overwhelming population growth could be very problematic and most likely
could be the cause for the end of humanity. Yet, their solution to these problems was technological
innovation. I agree technological innovation could reduce many problems such as food shortage and
energy shortage. However, there are other problems like water scarcity and climate change, and
political instability, which are impossible to prevent by innovating new technology. So, I think the
producers should have come up with other solutions such as finding acceptable means of reducing
the population growth rate.
Additionally, many innovations such as green sense farm are practical only in the developed world,
especially the United States. Other undeveloped countries cannot afford most technologies that are
mentioned in the film. In fact, undeveloped countries were barely touched on the film. I felt this was
particularly a problem in the presentation of the challenge of feeding the world's skyrocketing
population growth. I believe there is tremendous potential in undeveloped countries in particular to
increase food production through agricultural development.

The Music Of Music Videos
The development of music videos throughout many years has changed rapidly due to the
relationship between media forms and platforms of different media kind of texts. Some issues in
contemporary music videos are from the evolution of new technologies, social media and politics.
Thus, artists throughout time have taken advantage of music videos in order to use it as a site for
debates about politics of representation. Nowadays the majority of music videos are transforming
and turning into short films and art in order for the artists to express themselves through this
function. A music video that illustrates these media contexts is Justin Timberlake's song "What Goes
Around". This essay will firstly describe this music video and how it has broadened the definition of
the term music video, and then examine how this is relevant to media contexts. Therefore, with new
technologies arising in music videos it tends to contribute to changes in ideas of musicianship and
performance.
On February 7th 2007, the artists Justin Timberlake released his music video to his song "What
Goes Around" which turned out to be a short film as it was nine minutes and twenty–two seconds
long. It was directed by Samuel Bayer and starred the actress Scarlett Johansson. It features acting,
dialogue and of course the song itself. The lyrics of the song and the actions shown within the music
video are of a relationship that ended badly due to cheating. It shows and portrays women's bodies

Video Refereeing Advantages And Disadvantages
There are multiple advantages and disadvantages when it comes to video refereeing. This has
instigated a debate whether it should or shouldn't be used as an alternative for refereeing in all
professional sports. Currently, video refereeing or also known as VAR (Video assistance refereeing)
is being used in sports such as NBA, AFL, cricket, soccer and Tennis. They're virtual computer
bases that record footage as the game is being played, referee's use it to help them make certain
decisions whilst in gameplay. Advocates believe that results will be fairer and that referees will be
supported in the future, however antagonists argue that this takes away the human factor of sports
and there are still queries about the dependability of the technology.
The use of video refereeing will have influences on players of elite sports in numerous sporting
programs. Exponents such as Graham Poll discusses that detection is very difficult at full speed, but
with the assistance of slow motion pictures and act of cheating or foul play can be exposed, and we
can visually see and stop players from making an effort to scam the referees. For instance the
fanfare created by challenged lines calls in the sport of tennis, where technology is efficiently and
effectively used to create fairer match results, and elite player love it as it can mean the difference
between winning and losing a round. On a contrary viewpoint, opponents, such as Europe's football

How Does Technology Affect Independent Films
How has the role of technology affected independent films and their film–making process?
The distribution of film has changed phenomenally during the last 10 years. Independent film is an
area of production where filmmakers produce their films independently, outside of the studio
system. Many argue that cultural value is taken from independent films whereas commercial
releases follow the same narrative structure. Often, mainstream cinema will follow a common
narrative arc which fits into the equilibrium theory e.g. Protagonist is faced with a challenge, a stage
of disequilibrium occurs, equilibrium is restored and the film has a traditional happy ending.
Independent film's niche audiences enjoy the creative freedom that comes with genre. This freedom
has been extended by new technology, giving filmmakers the ability to fulfil their artistic vision.
Advances in technical equipment have benefitted the film–making process for independent
directors, who are now able to create high quality films on a low budget. In addition to advances in

The 1920s.) Metropolis falls under the German Expressionist Movement that took place between
both world wars. The German expressionist movement was an art movement that incorporated

An Essay On We By Gary Turk
There are plenty of interesting videos on the YouTube that attract people's attention every day, but
there are still some strange videos try to let people step away from this digital world. "Look up"
might be the most famous and persuasive one of those special kind. The interesting things is that the
author Gary Turk describes the world inside the internet "is just an illusion", and the reality is indeed
"a world of confusion" (Gary). In this spoken word film, Gary Turk argue that people should look up
from their virtual world and engage more with their actual life. Gary Turk is not only build trust on
his audiences by using his precise observation of the technology problems happen in the real life,

Then, he uses some comparison examples between the lonely life with technology and the happy life
without technology to set a tone that the technology is bad for people. In the middle part of the film,
the narrator speaks a perfect love story: The main characters, a man and a woman, meet with each
other by a coincidence, and then they live happily ever after. With the association of words, the
video uses several frames of short cut of their perfect life which is enough to stir up audience desire.
However, after the end of the love story, the narrator uses a turning point that the love story is just a
fantasy. In the real life, they never meet because the man does not look up from his phone. The
narrator uses a strong contrast as the end to let people think about themselves and develop his point
of look up. Although it is only 5 minutes long, but it has been seen for 56 million times. That 56
million times repetition of 5 minutes makes this video not just a simple poetry slam, but a great

Micro Air Vehicles ( Mavs )
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Micro Air Vehicles (MAVs)
Micro Air Vehicles (MAVs) are a class of Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs), significantly smaller
than typical UAVs. UAVs are aircrafts without human pilot aboard. These are controlled either
automatically by on board computers or through remote control by a pilot on the ground [3]. The
modern aircrafts can be as small as 20 centimeters. The design features and the configurations of
MAVs are different from that of normal aircrafts. The speeds of MAVs are very low and the size is
less than 30 cm in length, width or height. With the development and comfort of electronics, smaller
aircrafts, which can perform various tasks that were previously performed by manned aircrafts or
larger UAVs, have been possible. Commercially off shelf components like motor, propeller, ESC,
servo motor, battery, autopilot, data modem, camera (Payload), video Transmitter are tested and
trained for performance and is then integrated with MAVs for autonomous flight operations as
shown in Figure 1.1 [4].
Fig 1.1: Block diagram of MAV integration
1.2 Motivation
In today's world, MAVs equipped with digital cameras are increasing in number for real time
applications. MAVs are widely used because of its small size, low weight, low cost and flexibility in
design.
The main purposes of MAVs are to provide video surveillance during military exercisers,
firefighting, and weather monitoring, policing and border control [5]. However the video obtained

Digital Film Technology Revolutionizes the Film Industry...
Digital Film Technology Revolutionizes the Film Industry
With the release of Star Wars: Episode I the Phantom Menace, in March of 1999, digital film
technology officially filtered itself in to main–stream Hollywood. Digital film technology is the
latest and probably most revolutionizing new technology to hit Hollywood. The use of digital film
allows for infinite editing capabilities and endless benefits to distribution and special effects. The
use of digital film allows for producers to add in extras, produce stunts, and even create false people
with the click of a mouse. Time and cost consuming stunts, stunt doubles, and actors may no longer
be a worthy concern to producers and their budgets. Though the growing ... Show more content on

Directors and producers are allowed to let their imaginations run wild. This ease of use attracts
filmmakers to convert to a digital format. The skill and cost of technology which goes into creating
these effects, in return creates jobs for others.
Digital film not only enhances effects, but its special effects capabilities are so great, that it is also
beginning to replace people. For example, in Titanic, released in the winter of 1997/1998, false
people are created to enhance the reality and excitement of the scene. The movie shows a scene
which the ship tilts completely vertical. Passengers of the ship slide into the water, and fall from the
rails of the enormous ship. These passengers add drama and reality to the scene. The passengers
vividly dictate the harshness of the situation. Though these unfortunate passengers add a wealth of
reality to the scene, they are not even real people. Creating this scene on a standard film format with
stunt doubles, would have been difficult and time consuming. They were instead created with digital
film technology. Digital film technology erased the need for stunt doubles. Though real people were
not employed to be these characters, jobs behind the scenes were instead utilized. Creators of the
digital passengers were employed directly, and indirectly, business and jobs were harvested from the
digital equipment used. Even though physical people were

Movie Review : Easy Rider
Section 1: "Easy Rider" was a significant film because its success helped start a new Hollywood
phase of filmmaking in the early 1970s. Films like "Duel in The Sun", and "Red River" are what
preceded films like "Easy Rider". These films came into being and were financially successful
because they temporarily relieved the fears aroused by a recognition of social and political conflicts.
While studios suffered through a box–office slump from 1947 to 1968, the western proved to be a
consistently if modestly bankable genre. In an era that seemed to emphasize conformity, the
iconoclastic western hero proved to be a seductive archetype. Along with a revival of the westerns
came the emergence of a new genre (auteur films), one targeted at an audience demographic that the
studios coveted more than any other: The American teenager. And with the emergence of television
in order for films to compete with television, movies needed more than a new shape and new sound;
they needed to present material that could not be found on the small screen. 1968 was a pivotal year
in American history. The voluntary movie rating system that was introduced that year finally put to
rest the motion picture production code, which had hamstrung the filmmakers throughout the sound
era, and it completely changed the look and sound of American cinema, making possible more adult
themed films, films that explored in explicit detail formerly regulated subjects like sexuality and
criminality; films like easy

How Technology Has Changed The Development Of Today 's...
Modern technology has shaped the way in which society is evolving. The rising popularity of cell
phones containing cameras has led to a shift in culture and a new found passion for amateur
filmmaking among society. Several cultural factors, globally and locally, have contributed to the
success of mobile devices and amateur film. Technology is not just shaping culture; modern film
and internet culture is shaping the development of today's society.
Globally, the self–concept of many cell phone and social media users is being manipulated. Cell
phone use for photography and videography has led to an increase in the popularity of social media
usage. Social media usage branching from camera phone universality has become a significant
factor in the purpose behind amateur filmmaking. There are several reasons behind sharing a
homemade video online. Amateur filmmakers may post out of spite but many share their videos to
the public merely based on the concept of views. Paumgarten states "a perfect instrument for the
look–at–me age. Its charm lies perhaps in its sublimated conveyance of self, its sneaky tolerable
narcissism." (333) This quote exhibits an example of how technology used for amateur filmmaking
is a resource in the projection of self during an age where we strive to be acknowledged. This claim
assists in highlighting the idea presented that modern technology is affecting the sense of self of one
who searches for validation while also creating a form of narcissism, both

The studios used the rating system less to regulate or censor the content of their films than to
differentiate among products to advertise their pictures better and target audiences more precisely.
1968 was also a pivotal year in American social and political history. It saw two political
assassinations (of the civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. and the presidential candidate Robert
F. Kennedy) and a dramatic turn for the worse for the us forces in the Vietnam war. To produce a
new American cinema that might reflect or capture this tumultuous era, the studios turned to a
coterie of young directors, later dubbed the movie brats.
The film easy rider made it clear just how important the youth audience would be to a Hollywood
recovery. Its free form style and evocative use of a rock and pop–music score provided a template
for future gestures in the younger generations direction, easy rider is very much an auteur picture, on
in which an auteur's eccentric style and form transformed a familiar genre (the road picture) into
something undeniably modern and idiosyncratic. Hopper fashioned a complex mix of the teen biker
picture, the French New Wave where he broke down narrative structure, toyed with genre, mixed
and matched styles and most important, captured the ambience of cool. The documentary style was
especially important to the films larger appeal as it enticed viewer to sympathize with its
counterculture heroes.

Visual Effect On Visual Effects
Visual effects started out as visual experimental techniques in the very early stages of film starting
with filmmakers like George mielies. As technology has progressed so have the ability of visual
effects in film. Visual effect techniques has influenced and help innovate film in many different
ways in the 21st century.
Firstly, one should differentiate between special effects and visual effects. Special effects are
generally carried out on set during production whilst and visual effects are usually done in post–
production, but this does not mean that special effects is not involved in the post–proudction process
and the visual effects are not involved in on set during production (http://filmescape.com/whats–

Special effects can be seen in terms of two categories: optical and mechanical effects. Optical effects
have to do with the camera and the manipulation of the camera as well as the lighting to make the
scene look different (http://filmescape.com/whats–the–difference–between–special–effects–visual–
effects). This process could involving changing the cameras lenses, the type of lighting used in the
scene or how the camera moves to create a specific look to the shot (http://filmescape.com/whats–

Mechanical effects are usually done during live–action shooting. This usually means making things

this video was design to persuade or to catch the interest of young Americans to be familiar or to

To change the world in the hearth of America. Examining the short film, the video only displays a
young male that seems to be in his early 20's and a potential teenager or possibly younger than that
has all of a sudden taken an interested in to the physics of sound. There is absolutely no female
presence in this video. With that mentioned, during this time period, woman were highly encouraged

ideal was that men would be the breadwinners. As said by at the time, Vice President Richard Nixon

Lillian Schwartz and Tracey Moffat – Modern Technology and Modern Art
Many modern artists use high technology equipment in their works. Whereas traditionally artists
used a pencil or brush to make beautiful works of art, artists in the early twenty–first century are

and shapes made using computer programs to finished works of art which can look as realistic as a

ways to use old mediums and finding new mediums as well. In modern art displays such as the
various Biennales held around the world, video plays a dominant role, as well as installation art and
increasingly, digital art. There are even exhibitions that solely focus on digital art, such as Ars

contemporary artists using it to display their works with online galleries, talk to other artists and sell
their works. Internet sites such as deviantart.com or yessy.com offer artists an opportunity to sell and

Film Editing And The Advancement Of Digital Technology
In today's world, film has made use of the advancement of digital technology to help with editing.
Innovations in film technology has without a doubt shaped the film industry into what is it today.
This has given filmmakers great advantages from cameras to sound recording devices, to editing.
Because of this technology everything has gone digital making it not only easier to access, easier to
edit with (computers, software etc.), but it also makes it more affordable.
Film Editing is the art of assembling shots or multiple images into sequences. The editor or editors
are usually given a pile of all the footage shot in the course of a day or several. This pile contains
various shots that are called raw footage. Raw footage just means there is unedited shots that has
had nothing done to it yet and its ready to be used. The task of the editor/editors are to create an
overall finished film by combining and selecting these different shots and placing them into an
organized sequence of events. Every single time there is a change from one image to another is
called an edit. The art of filmmaking and editing has been around for decade's. For example, the
world's first films that were produced were in black and white (Film History). But, even to make a
black and white film, several inventions were required. These inventions not only needed to be able
to record videos but to also store them.
The basic rules of film editing were first established in the silent era, which was also known

The most important in a film is the story. One of the most important parts is the key scenes and the
outline of the film, what the film is about, how it 's going to come out and how.Storyboards are very

The Evolution of Digital Film
In order for digital film to exist like it does today it had to evolve from something. Digital film
evolved from Film or celluloid film as it is originally more recognized. I have a few questions that I
wish to cover early on and continue to develop as time goes on. What is digital Cinema and what are
the advantages and or disadvantages of it over film. What is film celluloid and where did it originate
from ? Why did digital film start ? finally what is next for digital film is there more to come or will
it transition to something else ?.
Firstly celluloid film is a thin sheet of celluloid, created from nitrocellulose and camphor. Celluloid
can be traced back to as far as 1856 to an English man called Alexander Parkes. Parkes has been
found to be "the first person who was granted the first patent which described a plastic material
which he called 'Parkesine' ". (1) However it wasn't actually Parkes that patented celluloid. John
Wesley Hyatt an inventor and his brother Isaiah who actually patented their material as celluloid. So
celluloid originated from New Jersey in the United States. Celluloid was actually created to become
a replacement for the use of ivory in many products. However is made its way into film industry
later on. This was primarily down to the work of John H. Stevens. "John H. Stevens was a chemist
at the Celluloid Manufacturing Company" . (1) He discovered that a material know as amyl acetate
was a "solvent for diluting celluloid" (1) This discovery

Digital Vs. Digital Projection
Recently in the world of cinema, there has been a great shift from the analogue format of film to
digital projection. There are many who suggest that one format might be better than the other. I was
working as a projection and sound technician for a major cinema exhibitor during this shift, so I
have some insight into the similarities and differences in the two technologies. Though I enjoy
servicing film projectors more than digital projectors and I have nostalgic feelings about analogue
film in general, it is clear that the digital projection platform is far more versatile and has more
potential for being improved even further in the future. Digital and film projection actually have a
few things in common. Firstly, the majority of both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Modern digital projection technology only relatively recently surpassed 35mm film in terms of
subjective image quality perception. Whether or not digital image quality has surpassed 70mm film
is still debatable. on the other hand, with film projection, the image is physically developed on film
and there is no resolution, or you can say the resolution is infinite. It's like trying to describe a
perfect circle by describing it with squares or straight lines. So, the quality of film images depends
on the process used capture, develop, and duplicate the original image. An advantage of digital over
film is that the projected image will always be the same across all digital projection systems. Since
every digital projector is fed the exact same pixel data, the position and color of the pixels in
relationship to one another will be consistent. With film projection, the image is physically
developed on film, so there are greater variations in image and color from one print to the next.
Typically, this difference is negligible and not even noticeable, but there are differences. The way
the projected image is produced on each platform differs as well. Digital projection is essentially
individual 1's and 0's, strung together in binary code on a hard drive, that gets interpreted by a
computer into pixel data which is sent to either three DMD chips (DLP) or SXRD panels (Sony
digital). Each of the three chips/panels handles one color, red, green, and blue

Film Production Industry And Its Recording Process

  • 1. Film Production Industry And Its Recording Process Describe Innovation Targets The major objective of the innovation is to target and address the sluggish and superfluous technique of the existing feature film production industry and its recording process. The plan suggests methods reduce the time spent in the recording of the images during the process of filming a feature film production. The innovation will be made using multiple cameras recording through new technologies in advanced camera resolution and camera size (Steyn, 2013). The scope of the problem lies for the whole feature film industry as this slow process of filming affects the whole industry. When new technology will be introduced in the filming production industry then the development of pictures will become a more advanced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If proper resolution cameras are not used while shooting a video than the quality of picture degrades and it may not be possible to take a shot in a single instance. With the use of multiple high– resolution cameras with greater size in megapixels, the capturing of video will be easy. This innovation will include placing the cameras at different angles and then videoing the film. When different cameras of high resolution and big size picture will be placed at different angles, the video will be made from all possible angles (Mansurov, 2015). Thus, no more retakes will be required in shooting the film. This will make the process of filming a movie faster and will reduce the overall cost and time of film production. Thus, the slower and tedious process of a film production will improve to a better and faster process. By reducing the cost of production this innovation will meet the needs of all the stakeholders involved in it. Further, the filming industry studios which are the organizations for developing a film will get a positive hike in profits. This will fulfill their need of earning more and more profit in their business. In addition to reducing the cost, the theater owners will get the advantage of reducing the cost of renting the motion pictures for presentation. This will help them increase their business and will fulfill their needs. The investors of the film production will get their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Eagle–eyed aficionados of Jones's films may notice a brief appearance by Gerty in the background of another sequence, a nod to Cinesite's previous work on MOON. In addition to adding interactive monitors to the interior of a large indoor swimming pool, Cinesite's environment work included interior shots of a library, a coffee shop and 'Hackers Hall', a seedy indoor market with line upon line of dark market stall type booths filled with screens, hackers, geeks and dodgy technology–based activities. Futuristic matte paintings imagining some of Berlin's best– known buildings as they would appear 34 years from now were also crafted along with blood shots and various weapons to support the film's violent and gritty fight sequences. Like all the digital environments, Hackers Hall entailed a range of "invisible effects". The original shot had a few market stalls in the foreground shot against a giant green screen. Cinesite's team created models using the foreground as a reference and then created 2.5D projections using other plates to texture the stalls from all angles; the CG stalls were then replicated to populate the background. • 9. Bigger Than Life By Nicholas Ray Nicholas Ray's Bigger Than Life is a story of an American family man who tries to have it all and fails because of his addiction. In an effort to visually portray this, Ray largely abandons conventional Cinemascope practices and tends to revert to the paradigms of the Academy ratio. Rather than using Cinemascope to highlight spectacle, Ray films a small family melodrama. Instead of splitting the screen into thirds and adjusting the mise–en–scène to visually fill up the screen, Ray uses close–ups, single–person shots, and symmetry. He frequently divides the screen in two at the center, essentially treating each side as an Academy ratio film. Since Ray focuses less on 'clotheslining' actors, he is able to bring the audience closer to understand the psychology of Ed Avery (and physcially closer to him than most Cinemascope films would go). The sequence towards the end of film is of paramount importance–Ray takes the tension, anger, cruelty, and derangement that has been building throughout the film and raises it to a high enough level that Ed is willing to kill his own son. To get this across, Ray uses composition to show Ed as isolated, sinister, and dangerous. Two of the scenes in particular from the sequence deviate from his regular techniques, as he stages the family in a single frame to highlight the growing distance between them all. Throughout the film, Ray used close–ups to show Ed's mental state; in this sequence, Ray largely abandons that technique–Ed's state–of–mind ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Abstract: – The vision of 5G Mobile networks lies in the provisioning of high throughput (over 10GB/s data rate), low latency (less than 1m for radio link latency) and connecting more devices (over 1M terminal per square kilometer). This is driven by the need for the Internet of Things (IoT) applications (e.g. smart cites smart homes), rich immersive multimedia applications (e.g. live video streaming) and the tactile Internet. To achieve 5G targets, Mobile edge computing (MEC) is regarded as a vital solution to provide satisfactory Quality of Experience (QoE) for multimedia services. Although video streaming applications are seeking more bandwidth and exorbitant video quality. Particularly for virtual reality applications or video on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And the second edge is that when a wireless user equipment (EU) streams videos, there will be 2 network segments on the end–to–end path that will have different characteristics, 1) radio access network (RAN) which is wireless. 2) Mobile core network and the internet that in most cases are wired, the wired segments have higher bandwidth–delay–product (BDP) due to the high–capacity over–provisioned backbone link and long latency due to long distance that the data transport between the global Internet. One of the major networking problems is the insufficiency of structured resource management schemes to provide Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE) support for real–time applications, primarily in networks that can be affected by delay or packet loss. E.g. the video or VOIP services are not tolerant to packet loss that should not more than 1%, especially if the system is using compressed codecs e.g. G.722, and the latency is also playing a major impact on the services which should be less than 150ms between two end–points [3]. The delivery of mobile content, especially in high definition (HD) videos with high resolution, has become one of the main topics to add to the context of 5G network development in the future It ... Sales of CDs in retail music stores have been declining while sales of songs downloaded through the Internet to iPods and other portable music players are skyrocketing. And the music industry is still contending with millions of people illegally downloading songs for free. Will the motion picture industry have a similar fate? Viacom claimed in a 2008 lawsuit that over 150,000 unauthorized clips of its copyrighted television programs had appeared on YouTube. The media conglomerate is seeking $1 billion in damages from YouTube. When Google purchased YouTube in 2006 for $1.65 billion, the site gained considerable clout in the media world. With YouTube reporting 100 million video views per day and becoming one of the most visited sites on the entire Web, the major production studios were not going to stand idly by while some–one else profited off of movies that cost them an average of over $106 million to make. NBC Universal, for example, assigned three employees to search YouTube every day for property that had been posted without permission. Of course, in the end, the chase probably is not worthwhile. Rather than pursue an unachievable goal, some of the major studios, including NBC Universal, Time Warners Warner Brothers Entertainment, and News Corporations Twentieth Century Fox, sought more constructive solutions. They entered into negotiations with YouTube to establish licensing agreements that would make copyrighted content available legally. The licensing model was already in place between YouTube and several major music companies. Furthermore, YouTube had already engineered successful arrangements with major studios to market movies on the site.

Digital Technologies and Technological Advances In this essay I will discuss the ways in which changes over recent years to new media formats and platforms have led to innovation in the distribution of work created by film makers. New media is a term that is used to describe the on–demand access that is now available to users twenty four hours a day on any digital device or platform and this includes interactivity between users and real–time creation of original and unregulated content. The creation of the internet and its evolution over the past decade has led to various innovations including the introduction of social networking and video sharing websites and these have had a significant impact on the production and distribution of film makers work. These technological advances have affected a diverse range of audiences including mainstream, small specific groups and individuals. "Digital Technologies have, over the past quarter–century or so, transformed our world." Hassan and Thomas (2006), p.1 These innovations in the media industry bring both advantages and disadvantages, both for the film makers and also the audience. A major advantage is that it is now possible for anyone to become a film–maker with the arrival of video sharing websites on the internet. However an unforeseen negative consequence of this is the huge volume of random and pointless videos that are being "produced" and posted on these sites which means that the audience's searching and viewing time and ultimately patience is inevitably taken up by ... Video Editing Essay TASK 1 – PROPOSAL (Typed document – minimum 1000 words) Special investigation into editing I will be talking about editing work through the industry of media, we will start some of the software that is used in the industry today, these include, Premier pro, Avid, and final cut, avid has always been a strong editing software in the industry, but as some technology rises and falls premier pro is just edging the gap into the industry, as regular updates of this software make it the better choice for editing films together as different filters, transitions and bugs with in the software are updated, for the software to be crisp. • 26. Technology In The Film Industry Essay Introduction The film industry has continuously changed since its inception due to rapid technology advancements. Camera technology has been a key factor that has influenced the growth of filmmaking. The first motion picture in the world was produced in the early 1880s, and the first public screening occurred ten years later. It didn't take long for the quality of films to improve as new filmmaking equipment emerged. Ever since the first movie was produced, the film industry has been continuously changing in response to emerging filmmaking technology. Introduction of digital photography and digital data storage along with the development of internet significantly influenced the film industry (Barsam, 2015). These technologies contributed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Digital technology has erased the boundaries and offered new opportunities for shooting films. Shooting with digital cameras tends to be easier as filmmakers can shoot more scenes in less time. Often, multiple digital cameras can be used on the same shot but in different angles which assists in reducing the number of retakes. Digital shooting allows filmmakers to shoot multiple takes and in different angles at fewer costs (Murray, 2012). With new steady camera equipment, the footage shot is more precise and intimate. This enhances the audience experience as the camera view is authentic. Also, the cameras save time wasted on reshooting the same scene. IT has also changed the way movies are shot particularly through application of film special effects. The film industry heavily relies on illusions to simulate imaginary events in a story (McClean, 2007). Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) is another key technology that is applied to special effects to enhance films. CGI is mainly used in special effects to enable filmmakers to control the scenes instead of using many extra actors. This has simplified film production and reduced the costs incurred. A lot of movies especially those classified under fiction, action, and horror genres rely on CGI. Post–Production Previously, editing used to be a challenge for most filmmakers. Often, they relied on manual methods when filming to add effects to the films. Incorporating visual effects to the film was a demanding task that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to the video, the number of population could reach nine billion by 2050. I agree technological innovation could reduce many problems such as food shortage and energy shortage. However, there are other problems like water scarcity and climate change, and political instability, which are impossible to prevent by innovating new technology. So, I think the producers should have come up with other solutions such as finding acceptable means of reducing the population growth rate. Additionally, many innovations such as green sense farm are practical only in the developed world, especially the United States. Other undeveloped countries cannot afford most technologies that are mentioned in the film. In fact, undeveloped countries were barely touched on the film. I felt this was particularly a problem in the presentation of the challenge of feeding the world's skyrocketing population growth. I believe there is tremendous potential in undeveloped countries in particular to increase food production through agricultural development. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some issues in contemporary music videos are from the evolution of new technologies, social media and politics. Thus, artists throughout time have taken advantage of music videos in order to use it as a site for debates about politics of representation. Nowadays the majority of music videos are transforming and turning into short films and art in order for the artists to express themselves through this function. A music video that illustrates these media contexts is Justin Timberlake's song "What Goes Around". This essay will firstly describe this music video and how it has broadened the definition of the term music video, and then examine how this is relevant to media contexts. Therefore, with new technologies arising in music videos it tends to contribute to changes in ideas of musicianship and performance. This has instigated a debate whether it should or shouldn't be used as an alternative for refereeing in all professional sports. Currently, video refereeing or also known as VAR (Video assistance refereeing) is being used in sports such as NBA, AFL, cricket, soccer and Tennis. They're virtual computer bases that record footage as the game is being played, referee's use it to help them make certain decisions whilst in gameplay. Advocates believe that results will be fairer and that referees will be supported in the future, however antagonists argue that this takes away the human factor of sports and there are still queries about the dependability of the technology. The use of video refereeing will have influences on players of elite sports in numerous sporting programs. Exponents such as Graham Poll discusses that detection is very difficult at full speed, but with the assistance of slow motion pictures and act of cheating or foul play can be exposed, and we can visually see and stop players from making an effort to scam the referees. • 34. How Does Technology Affect Independent Films How has the role of technology affected independent films and their film–making process? The distribution of film has changed phenomenally during the last 10 years. Independent film is an area of production where filmmakers produce their films independently, outside of the studio system. Many argue that cultural value is taken from independent films whereas commercial releases follow the same narrative structure. Often, mainstream cinema will follow a common narrative arc which fits into the equilibrium theory e.g. Protagonist is faced with a challenge, a stage of disequilibrium occurs, equilibrium is restored and the film has a traditional happy ending. Independent film's niche audiences enjoy the creative freedom that comes with genre. This freedom has been extended by new technology, giving filmmakers the ability to fulfil their artistic vision. Micro Air Vehicles ( Mavs ) CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 Micro Air Vehicles (MAVs) Micro Air Vehicles (MAVs) are a class of Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs), significantly smaller than typical UAVs. UAVs are aircrafts without human pilot aboard. These are controlled either automatically by on board computers or through remote control by a pilot on the ground [3]. The modern aircrafts can be as small as 20 centimeters. The design features and the configurations of MAVs are different from that of normal aircrafts. The speeds of MAVs are very low and the size is less than 30 cm in length, width or height. With the development and comfort of electronics, smaller aircrafts, which can perform various tasks that were previously performed by manned aircrafts or larger UAVs, have been possible. Commercially off shelf components like motor, propeller, ESC, servo motor, battery, autopilot, data modem, camera (Payload), video Transmitter are tested and trained for performance and is then integrated with MAVs for autonomous flight operations as shown in Figure 1.1 [4]. For example, in Titanic, released in the winter of 1997/1998, false people are created to enhance the reality and excitement of the scene. The movie shows a scene which the ship tilts completely vertical. Passengers of the ship slide into the water, and fall from the rails of the enormous ship. These passengers add drama and reality to the scene. The passengers vividly dictate the harshness of the situation. Though these unfortunate passengers add a wealth of reality to the scene, they are not even real people. Creating this scene on a standard film format with stunt doubles, would have been difficult and time consuming. They were instead created with digital film technology. Digital film technology erased the need for stunt doubles. Though real people were not employed to be these characters, jobs behind the scenes were instead utilized. While studios suffered through a box–office slump from 1947 to 1968, the western proved to be a consistently if modestly bankable genre. In an era that seemed to emphasize conformity, the iconoclastic western hero proved to be a seductive archetype. Along with a revival of the westerns came the emergence of a new genre (auteur films), one targeted at an audience demographic that the studios coveted more than any other: The American teenager. And with the emergence of television in order for films to compete with television, movies needed more than a new shape and new sound; they needed to present material that could not be found on the small screen. 1968 was a pivotal year in American history. His long pale fingers raced away on the keyboard as he made incessant modifications and reviewed over the club's YouTube page–this was the norm for a Thursday afternoon. He'd arrived for his office shift an hour earlier than required–another common aspect of his routine. That day he wore a blue–green–and–white baseball cap over his short brown hair, and his valued green "Grass Stains" t–shirt; a memento of his participation as a production assistant in ... He named a couple inspirational heroes in the field: Alfonso Cuarón due to his proficiency at "oners" (or continuous, uninterrupted "long takes"), and naturally, his uncle. As Ferraro spoke about Barry, he crossed his legs, and his eyes hit the ceiling. "I want to be remembered the way he is," he said, while also emphasizing that while he knows he could always turn to his uncle for help in the industry, he doesn't want to rely on others–he wants to make his own way. But stepping away from the realm of film, Ferraro named his mother as his number one hero as his mother for raising him alone after his parents divorced when he was eight. While his relationship with his father has been strained for many years now, the two have recently reconciled, and his father even contributed to the financing of Ferraro's trip to L.A. this past summer on an ... • 68. Lillian Schwartz and Tracey Moffat Lillian Schwartz and Tracey Moffat – Modern Technology and Modern Art Many modern artists use high technology equipment in their works. Whereas traditionally artists used a pencil or brush to make beautiful works of art, artists in the early twenty–first century are now using sound, video or computer generated images. Digital art developed from simple patterns and shapes made using computer programs to finished works of art which can look as realistic as a watercolour or oil painting. Modern art exhibitions often include more videos and installations than traditional painting or drawings. • 70. Film Editing And The Advancement Of Digital Technology In today's world, film has made use of the advancement of digital technology to help with editing. Innovations in film technology has without a doubt shaped the film industry into what is it today. This has given filmmakers great advantages from cameras to sound recording devices, to editing. Because of this technology everything has gone digital making it not only easier to access, easier to edit with (computers, software etc.), but it also makes it more affordable. Film Editing is the art of assembling shots or multiple images into sequences. The editor or editors are usually given a pile of all the footage shot in the course of a day or several. This pile contains various shots that are called raw footage. Raw footage just means there is unedited shots that has had nothing done to it yet and its ready to be used. The task of the editor/editors are to create an overall finished film by combining and selecting these different shots and placing them into an organized sequence of events. Every single time there is a change from one image to another is called an edit. The art of filmmaking and editing has been around for decade's. For example, the world's first films that were produced were in black and white (Film History). But, even to make a black and white film, several inventions were required. These inventions not only needed to be able to record videos but to also store them. The basic rules of film editing were first established in the silent era, which was also known ... Filmmaking Is An Art, It 's Way Of Expressing Something Through out this student inquiry project i've decided to do something based on filmmaking, Filmmaking is an art, it's way of expressing something. Film editing is partially defined ass creative post production process of filmmaking. In this era, film has made a huge impact on digital technology to be able to use different types of technology to edit. The editors are usually given a bunch of videos usually called 'raw' footage their goal is to create a combined timeline of videos creating the story, and putting them in order (Dmytryk, Edward (1984). When it comes to filmmaking it doesn't matter about expensive cameras. An example of this is Casey Neistat, film director, producer, designer, creator of popular YouTube videos since 2010 and a ... Talking about these shows, that you don't need a lot of money just to produce a good movie but more on whats happening inside and what you're trying to show and the story. The most important in a film is the story. One of the most important parts is the key scenes and the outline of the film, what the film is about, how it 's going to come out and how.Storyboards are very important, as it's a draft and how it's going the scene is going to look. You plan the whole things, and consider the frames, angles, editing and how the scenes are going to be put together. A story board was made an example is in the folio and it was helpful to know what scene to shoot next. Creating this film, I had no idea, but somehow came up with the idea of "What is the secret to happiness" I feel like this film really goes to the young teenagers suffering depression or feel sad in a lot of times. I feel like relating to this really made me come up with a story, where there's a meaning behind it. • 76. The Evolution of Digital Film In order for digital film to exist like it does today it had to evolve from something. Digital film evolved from Film or celluloid film as it is originally more recognized. I have a few questions that I wish to cover early on and continue to develop as time goes on. What is digital Cinema and what are the advantages and or disadvantages of it over film. What is film celluloid and where did it originate from ? Why did digital film start ? finally what is next for digital film is there more to come or will it transition to something else ?. Firstly celluloid film is a thin sheet of celluloid, created from nitrocellulose and camphor. Celluloid can be traced back to as far as 1856 to an English man called Alexander Parkes. Parkes has been found to be "the first person who was granted the first patent which described a plastic material which he called 'Parkesine' ". (1) However it wasn't actually Parkes that patented celluloid. John Wesley Hyatt an inventor and his brother Isaiah who actually patented their material as celluloid. So celluloid originated from New Jersey in the United States. Celluloid was actually created to become a replacement for the use of ivory in many products. However is made its way into film industry later on. This was primarily down to the work of John H. Stevens. "John H. Stevens was a chemist at the Celluloid Manufacturing Company" . (1) He discovered that a material know as amyl acetate was a "solvent for diluting celluloid" (1) This discovery ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 78. Digital Vs. Digital Projection Recently in the world of cinema, there has been a great shift from the analogue format of film to digital projection. There are many who suggest that one format might be better than the other. I was working as a projection and sound technician for a major cinema exhibitor during this shift, so I have some insight into the similarities and differences in the two technologies. Though I enjoy servicing film projectors more than digital projectors and I have nostalgic feelings about analogue film in general, it is clear that the digital projection platform is far more versatile and has more potential for being improved even further in the future. Digital and film projection actually have a few things in common. Firstly, the majority of both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Modern digital projection technology only relatively recently surpassed 35mm film in terms of subjective image quality perception. Whether or not digital image quality has surpassed 70mm film is still debatable. on the other hand, with film projection, the image is physically developed on film and there is no resolution, or you can say the resolution is infinite. It's like trying to describe a perfect circle by describing it with squares or straight lines. So, the quality of film images depends on the process used capture, develop, and duplicate the original image. An advantage of digital over film is that the projected image will always be the same across all digital projection systems. Since every digital projector is fed the exact same pixel data, the position and color of the pixels in relationship to one another will be consistent. With film projection, the image is physically developed on film, so there are greater variations in image and color from one print to the next. Typically, this difference is negligible and not even noticeable, but there are differences. The way the projected image is produced on each platform differs as well. Digital projection is essentially individual 1's and 0's, strung together in binary code on a hard drive, that gets interpreted by a computer into pixel data which is sent to either three DMD chips (DLP) or SXRD panels (Sony digital). Each of the three chips/panels handles one color, red, green, and blue ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
