Providing Professional And Vocational Education
The second barrier standing in the way of the process of obtaining professional and vocational
education was this: It is physically very difficult to get to school as indicated by our respondents. At
present, in the Russian Federation, only 10 percent of universities provide not only architectural
but, first and foremost, educational and methodological accessibilityof higher education for disabled
students, demonstrating a proper level of professional and pedagogical competence of the teaching
staff.
Not surprisingly, these higher educational institutions become centers of attraction for disabled
young people and accumulate the largest number of disabled students. In addition, in Russia, only
21 universities, according to monitoring, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As was mentioned earlier, this was the third most popular answer as 31% of respondents answered
like this. Romanov P.V. and Yarskaya Smirnova, E.R. (2010) emphasize that barriers are not in
themselves specific features of someone s appearance, communication or movement patterns, but
are results of the lack of public participation, which exacerbate social inequality between people.
The authors of the article argue that one of the ways to overcome the first and second barriers
could be the involvement of team project work of school and university students. In line with this
suggestion, N.A. Lukianova directed a project in autumn 2016, at TPU whereby a team of students
studying Industrial Design completed a portfolio consisting of the results of monitoring and
assessment of the level of accessibility of the architectural environment on campus for students with
disabilities. The portfolio included an interactive map of the campus. The main objectives of this
team student project were formulated as follows. Students had to analyze official documents that
define norms and rules for assessing accessibility and regulate legal relations in the area of
research. Moreover, they had to develop methodological recommendations for assessing the state of
accessibility of a

Yahweh s The Dead Sea Scrolls
What makes The Dead Sea Scrolls such a powerful text? Why does it hold such importance and
influence in regards to the present? The Dead Sea Scrolls not only gives in depth content to the
Bible, but most importantly, the texts give a different perspective and insight into a civilization
that thrived in the regions of Qumran before the age of the Christ. In the scrolls, grand aspiration
to an ideal utopian empire are clearly and carefully written. The discovery of the scrolls exposed a
blue print containing a plan to create a society completely devoted to the Yahweh. The scrolls not
only enforce laws and regulations but also instructs meticulous details of an architectural plan. This

Class and hierarchy brings order into the social system. Rules, regulations and order provide
structure to the society. Without structure and order, chaos will reign and all will be lost. In
order to prevent such disaster, strict discipline must be implemented. In the history of
civilization, the Jews have been oppressed by many all the way back to Ancient Egypt 3,200
B.C. One of the essential ingredient to an empire s success is it s ability to defend itself from
foreign invader. In order to have the strength, an army is essential. In the Charter for Israel in the

childhood each boy is to be instructed in the Book of Meditation. As he grows older, they shall
teach him the statutes of the Covenant and Then, at age twenty, he shall be enrolled in the ranks

The Elements Of Watchmen
In the comic Watchmen, various elements are at work to bring the comic to life through its
pages. Each element working together providing a more in depth feeling to the reading and
understanding of each page. Looking at chapter X pp.12 13, the size and shape, coloration, and
transitions are the three elements I found most interesting when looking at these two pages
alongside what and how the part of the story was being told. On page 12, panels 1 3, a
protagonist is shown in the Tales of the Black Freighter is shipwrecked off the US coast. As the
readers reach panel6 9 there becomes a sudden outbreak of violence that would be welcomed to
the New World is then transformed into a monstrous murderer, horse thief, and land pirate. The
Black Freighter story is a newspaper headline that is only partly readable for us, making the reader
infer the missing letters. The article brings a sense of wonder towards how the concepts of
vengeance and retaliation might be connected. The comic is read by one of the minor characters in
the storyline, who withholds more information than the reader does. In the same panel, in the right
hand corner, there is a person reading the pirate comics, showing both readers share the same plain
of reality. Watchmencontinually forces the reader s focus to shift. Throughout Watchmen it is
difficult to tell which storyline is truly relevant, which information needs processing first, and what,
in the end should be disregarded. One strategy used to achieve

Construction Of An Existing Large Dwelling Into A New...
Planning is a continuously evolving process, at times chaotic and often contested, difficult and
frustrating. (Thompson, S. 2007). The redevelopment of an existing large dwelling into a new
tavern/restaurant will be considered carefully as ...at the heart of planning is the community, and
the education, research and practices relating to the planned use of land, its associated systems, and
of the natural and built environmental, social and economic impacts and implications of the use of
land. (Thompson, S. 2007). In order for the developer to have the greatest chance of successfully

Zoning Planners need to plan a town s future. Zoning addresses the issues of land use, density and
building height for certain areas. (Thompson, S. 2007). Zoning is a prime tool for guiding
development of a town/suburb and sets helpful standards for long developed areas and is also
useful for neighbourhood preservation.
2.Required Setbacks Refers to the placement of the building on its block of land. In this case, the
building is already pre existing so the council will more than likely only need to consider the
setback requirements for the new addition to the rear of the property. Issues such as proximity to
the boundary line and therefore neighbours will need to be addressed.
3.Car Parking Requirements The existing building was originally not designed to be a restaurant
come tavern. As the building will now be repurposed the developer will need to allow for car
parking plans within both the planning and building approval stages.
4.Floor Area Ratio can be defined as The total square feet of a building divided by the total square
feet of the lot the building is located on. In more urban areas this ratio tends to be greater to reflect
the density of the area s construction. (Investopedia, 2011)
5.Landscaping Requirements Usually, an approved landscaping plan would be required for any
new commercial or residential construction. Landscaping plans may also show utilities and

The Physician-Patient Relationship
The Physician Patient Relationship
Tahira Duncan
Drexel University
Abstract
Sexual contact that occurs concurrent with the patient physician relationship is considered to be
sexual misconduct. The Hippocratic Oath prohibits such relationships. The Oath is deeply rooted in
first do no harm. By violating beyond the boundaries in a patient physician relationship it cause
harm to the patient.
Boundaries: The limits of appropriate behavior by a professional toward his/her client.
Transference: Of which a patient is usually unaware and/lacking insight into its significance.
Undue Influence: A judicially created defense to transactions that have been imposed upon weak
and vulnerable persons that allows the transactions to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Patients often don t know they have been violated usually until after interactions between patient
and physician either fail or don t work out in favor of the patient.
Sexual Misconduct Scenario:
I ve been involved with my physician for a couple of months now. There are a lot of factors
which make the relationship wrong mostly on his side: a huge age gap, his marriage amp;
family, the fact that he s a doctor. He also knows my father, who is a fellow doctor, and the
relationship started right when I practically committed suicide. It might be a stupid question, but
did he take advantage? I am fully in my right mind and did not feel abused in any way, but I
suppose psychology would show that there must be some part of me that was taken advantage of.
We started the relationship and after a few days, it dwindled. Now I feel abandoned and used.
The fact that the patient noted that she was fully in her right mind brings into play informed
consent. Can a patient truly give consent to a sexual relationship with their physician? Considering
undue influence a patient can t soundly give consent to having sexual intercourse with a doctor.
They lack the knowledge due to transference. Next, non maleficence and beneficence, the
Hippocratic Oath teaches, do no harm. There is a great risk to do potential harm to a patient
especially by entering into a sexual relationship with them. Much of

Irish Airman Myth
Contrary to what General George S. Patton believed, wars may be fought with weapons, but they
are not won by men. War is often characterized by tales of great valor performed by courageous
warriors willing to stake their lives in order to defend their country, but such people are few and
far between. What history so often neglects is the silent majority of almost any army: the rank
and file, the so called average Joes that lose any sense of individuality as they disappear within a
horde of identical bodies. Fighters in a warare just that. Fighters. They leave behind whoever they
were back home in favor of becoming a anonymous puppet with a rifle fighting a war they may
not even care about. Truly, war does not provide a blank canvas upon which each man paints his
own epic, rather it strips away whatever identity one possesses and replaces it with that of a brave,
yet faceless, soldier. While many stories glamorize the actions of the soldier that goes down in a
blaze of glory as he battles marvelously against overwhelming odds for a greater good, not
everyone can be that hero of legend. In An Irish Airman foresees his Death by William Butler
Yeats, the titular character serving as a pilot in World War I
believes that those that I fight I do not
hate, and those that I guard I do not love (Yeats, ll. 3 4). In a moment of grim clarity, the persona

Demonic Memory-Personal Narrative
The whispers I never did anything to make it come. Never played the demonic games, never
asked if Charlie was here, never talked into the mirror, but it still came, or perhaps it was always

mother about the voices but she never believed me, no one does. Now I m stuck in this special
place for the insane, but I m not insane, I just tell the truth. If they were there that night horrible
night they would understand. It was a frigid October morning as I got into the bus. I sat next to
the humble girl from my Language Arts class and pulled out my agenda that was smeared with
Sharpie from when it used to say Margaret Harris, 8th grade. It was a normal school day until I
looked out the window and saw a man that appeared to be looking straight at me from a far
distance, and then the whispersstarted. Until that day the whispers were just chaotic, jumbles of
words that I could never comprehend, but today was different. The whispers grew loud in my head
as I stared at the man and just one word repeated in my head...... until. The rest of the day I
pondered what the word could have meant that was running through my skull. When I got home my
little sister was acting quite unusual. She usually sits at the table and does her homework or eats a

Amelia Earhart Theory
How could someone survive a plane crash? Trying to explain what had happened to the
disappearance of Amelia Earhart, theories were developed. For the purpose of these theories, some
people either believe that Japanese troops kidnapped Earhart, she died as a castaway, or that she
lived under another identity. In the end, Amelia Earhartdid survive her attempted voyage around the
world. Earhart s mysterious disappearance leads to different theories. One of those theories is that
the Japanese kidnapped Amelia Earhart and her navigator Noonan, holding them captive. Earhart
and Noonan were making a stop on Howland island, but before they arrived, they lost connection
with the U.S. Coast Guard. Years later, the government discovered a photograph in the U.S.
National Archives, displaying what is supposed Earhart and Noonan near Japanese troops. Along
with the two missing people in the photograph, parts of plane were behind them. An American spy
took the picture. An article in:
Kent Gibson, a facial recognition expert, who studied the photo, said in the History Channel
special that it s very convincing evidence that the photo is of Noonan. The hairline is the most
distinctive characteristic, Gibson said. It s a very sharp receding hairline. The nose is very
prominent.
A facial recognition expert claimed that the U.S. spies photograph could possibly be Noonan and
Earhart. Although it is very possible for the kidnapping of Earhart and Noonan, the picture with the
evidence

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Nootropics
Attention Deficit Disorder is diagnosed two ways: with or without hyperactivity. The inclusion
of hyperactivity is what makes the difference between a diagnosis of ADD or ADHD. With
children between the ages of 6 and 12 being the most commonly diagnosed ages, it has also been
known to continue as they get older. With school aged children being affected the most, it can
become severely difficult for the student and teacher to work out a solution. Sure, the children can
be given the commonly prescribed medications, but they don t get excluded from possible
dependency or addiction. When it comes to prescribing medications for ADHD, physicians are
more apt to stick to the type that they know will work and these are Adderall and Ritalin.
Although these two drugs work for ADHD, many people today are starting to explore options that
involve the use of alternatives that pose no adverse reactions or long term effects. To help assist the
many people affected by this disorder who want a safer alternative, we will explore the many
benefits that can be obtained by using nootropics. Among the many alternatives, the best types
available include the nootropics noopept, racetam, and modafinil. These three nootropics have
proven to be very effective at improving cognition, but each... Show more content on

Slut-Shaming In Puritan Society
Visualize living in a society where slut shaming occurs every day and someone s mistake is
publicized to the point that everyone knows what happened. Some people would believe this
would be referring to the Puritan society that existed during the 1600 s, but unfortunately, this is
common situations that appear in today s society. A famous person s error can show up on
social media, covers of magazines, and every talk show throughout America. For example,
recently the break up of the beloved Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie appeared everywhere in less
than a day. The breakup sparked news on twitter, talk shows such as Wendy Williams, and
prevailed to be the lead story on every tabloid by the following day. Even though our society did not

Our society uses one of the Puritans traditions as entertainment for others. For example, the current
society has established specials that air on Comedy Central called Roasts , where a celebrity is
ridiculed by other celebrities. The first Comedy Central roast was aired on August 10th, 2003 and
Denis Leary was ridiculed on stage for the viewing of millions of people. Roasts have been
around as far back as 1904 where the Friars Club held annual roasts. Their main motto was We
only roast the ones we love . At first, roasts were taken lightly and people would just have
innocent fun with friends and family. When Comedy Central started airing roasts it changed the
game. Roasts went from being innocent fun to making a mockery of a celebrity. Even though
the Puritans used the scaffold to generate a mockery of a plebeian, it still happens today. When
Hester was on the stage the townspeople scorned her for her mistake. She left that day feeling
dreadful, as a result of, the words from the townspeople were so cruel and in 2016 it is still
tolerable. In this day and age, it is accepted to hire people to insult others to gain a laugh from
other people. This society accepts one of the Puritans traditions to such an extreme that it is
broadcasted for millions of people to observe. The only element that has changed from the 1600 s
to today is that technology is so advanced it allows everyone to find enjoyment off this

Camping Tent Disadvantages
The availability of secure campsites close to major cities is increasingly attracting families wishing
to take a camping tent vacation without heading out to the jungle. For someone who has never been
out camping, the toughest question is where to experience their first camping tent trip. Starting off
in low risk well supplied areas not too far from home is usually the safest option. Increasing
gasoline and airlines charges are squeezing families struggling to make it through the tough
economic times and forcing them to embrace campingtentalternatives. With high quality family
tents retailing at under $200, a whole family of up to 6 people can enjoy a camping tent extended
weekend for under $100 close to urban centers. What are some of things a first time camper needs
to know in choosing their first tent?
Type and Size
With many types of tents available, choosing the right one can be mind boggling. If you are
looking for a tent to use for many years and do not plan on going camping in winter, then a three
season tent is all you need. Dome family tents are preferable because they have more space and
headroom.
When it comes to deciding the size, if you are not going backpacking in the wilderness where the
weight of the tent is a major consideration, always go for a tent that will take more people than the
quoted size. Manufacturers usually overstate the amount of people that can comfortably sleep in a
tent. The rule of thumb is to select a tent that will sleep 1 2 people

Using Two Different Switching Switches And Hubs
SUMMARY
In this lab, we have set up switched LAN using two different switching devices i.e Switches and
Hubs. Various performance metrics like throughput, collision count, traffic received, traffic sent and
delay are analysed by implementing the network with and without switches. The network is then
modified such that its maximum performance and efficiency is achieved.
OBJECTIVE
The main objective of this lab is to design a network with and without switches and examine the
network s parameters in both the scenarios. Two such scenarios were created: 1) Only hub (where
one hub is connected to 16 work stations) 2) Hub and Switch (where 8 work stations are connected
for two hubs and a switch connecting them). Here, a hub is a device which ... Show more content on

The X and Y coordinates are set to 50. The name of Ethernet16_hub is set to Hub1.
Each work station is configured by changing its attributes to as shown in the image below. This is
done for all the sixteen work stations.
The next step is to Choose Individual DES statistics. For this project, various statistics like Delay,
Traffic received, Traffic sent and Collision count are selected.
The simulation is then run by selecting the duration to 2 minutes. The graph is as follows.
The red curve represents Traffic received, green represents Traffic sent and blue represents Delay.
From the graph, it is clear that the delay is almost negligible when it is compared with the traffic
sent and traffic received.
Now the current scenario is duplicated and named as HubAndSwitch. In this scenario, a hub which
is Ethernet16_hub and a switch which is Ethernet16_switch are added to the work place by
selecting from the object palette. The names are set as Hub2 and Switch respectively.
The network is then modified by placing the switch in between the two hubs and connecting 8
work stations to each hub with 10Base T links. The network appears as shown in this image below.
The DES statistics are same as that of the OnlyHub scenario. The results are obtained by running the
simulation and setting the duration to two minutes.

Brush Fires By Linda Thomas Analysis
Each year in Southern California, the fall is marked by the arrival of the Santa Ana. These winds
are described in two different texts, Brush Fires by Linda Thomas and The Santa Ana by Joan
Didion. Both pieces address the relationship between the wind and the community, using rhetorical
devices to convey their views. Thomas presents a windthat is essential to nature. Didion, on the
other hand, sees the wind as a characteristic Los Angeles, that can sometimes be detrimental. The
writers also have contrasting experiences with the fires causes which cause drastic differences in
tone, portrayal of the winds, and the overall message within each text. Both texts talk about the
negative effects of the wind that spreads chaos throughout California... Show more content on

Didion shows that California is not the only place affected by these winds, many places in the
world are as well. She uses the winds and their effects such as increased suicide rate, depression,
nervousness, atypical blood clotting, and more, as a metaphor for life and the world in general.
The world and life, just as the winds, is in an unnatural state at all times. In the winds, ...the air
carries an unusually high ratio of positive to negative ions and no one seems to know why.
Similarly, insanity in life can hit anywhere at any time, with no explanation why. The overall
purpose of Didion s text is to not only show that these winds truly do have a detrimental effect to
some extent on the lives of the people living in California, but also to show that life is just as
unpredictable as life and people overall.. Thomas s overall message of his piece is to primarily say
that humans are greedy and take advantage of nature. Therefore, people need to have more respect
for the Earth and natural resources and disasters that come with

The Causes Of Racial Inequality In The United States
Racial inequality has always been an issue of the past in the United States that is still present today,
but what happens when racism interferes with the well being and health of minorities? When it
comes to health African Americans fall at the bottom of the list. African Americans are much more
likely than people in other racial/ethnic groups to die from heart disease and stroke. Heart disease
and stroke are the biggest reasons for inequality in life expectancy between whites and African
Americans. (Aetna) There are countless influences that contribute to the result of poor health of
blacks in the United States such as racial discrimination, environmental exposures, poor nutrition,
physical inactivity, the lack of access to health care, incarceration, poverty, various diseases and
many more.
Today, gentrification has become a huge systematic problem especially in urban neighborhoods.
Many fast food restaurants are being planted in areas where the vast majority of African
Americans live. The nearest supermarket that sell fresh fruit and vegetables to urban areas are
usually five or more miles away which means that many people are unable to travel to
supermarkets. Also, these supermarkets have limited hours or they sell expensive food which
makes it nearly impossible to purchase food for themselves or for their family. African Americans
are 1.4 times as likely as whites to have high blood pressure. (Aetna) This makes it easier to
purchase more unhealthy food that can

What Is Locke s Argument For The Existence Of Spinoza
Similarly to the way Spinoza took the terms given by Descartes to an extreme, Berkeley did with
Locke. When Locke argued for the existence of a substratum holding our perceptions of
phenomena together, he defined the substratum as something, I know not what. Berkeley, found
that notion to be preposterous and a blatant contradiction. It is unintelligible to claim to have a
coherent idea of something that is by definition, impossible to have an idea of it. Besides, even
if it were remotely possible to form an idea of substance there would be no reason to believe
there could ever be such a thing in existence. It is not impossible for all of our perceptions to
exist without the presence of a material substance. Berkeley goes on to reject Locke s distinction
between secondary and primary qualities; because he feels that if anyone took the time to really
read about it, then they would realize they are the same thing. In Berkeley s opinion it is a

El Tovar Research Paper
I had just woken up to one of the greatest exciting days of my life. My family and I had remained
at the EL Tovar Hotel on the edge of the Grand Canyon in Grand Canyon, Arizona, since we
arrived Thursday afternoon. The El Tovar Hotel first opened its doors in 1905. The hotel is
constructed from limestone and Oregon pine. The hotel is a mix between a Swiss chalet and a
Norwegian villa. The El Tovar required around two hundred and fifty thousand dollars to be
created. The El Tovar Hotel was later named a National Historic Landmark in 1987. Now let us
move to the furthermost important part of my adventure, visiting the Grand Canyon. After we
had become dressed and had breakfast, my family and I departed the El Tovar Hotel to
adventure around the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon was created by the mighty Colorado
River over a period of five million years. The Grand Canyon measures at over two hundred and
seventy miles long, and about eighteen miles wide at its widest point and over one mile deep!
The Grand Canyon was instated as a national park in 1919. The Grand Canyon was made a

Humanism In The Middle Ages
This class has taught me that humanism can be defined as examining the creative and intellectual
contributions made by every culture that stresses human logic, values, and scientific method
(Humanities Through the Ages).
When I think of the middle Ages, I envision romantic images of knights in shining armor,
magnificent castles, and glorious cathedrals. But the Middle Ages, (medieval) was much more.
There were rise of cities, economy and money that started in Florence Italy, Mediterranean empires,
the townspeople benefited from the rise but the rise damaged the nobles.
The rise of nations, crises of the church, new military development caused a decline in the
medieval period. Shortly after the Black Death (Bubonic and the Plagues) a new period

Beatles Influences
When one thinks of The Beatles, some concepts that usually come to mind are the hippies,
psychedelic drugs such as marijuana, and their timeless classics such as Blackbird, Yesterday, and
Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. While these associations are founded in truth, the
Beatles are also closely connected with the politics of that time. Their song lyrics advocate for
peace and harmony in a world that was at war. The way they dressed, and the length of their hair
showed a disdain for the social norms of the time. Their greatest influences were famous for straying
away from the normal to find art in the unventured. The Beatleswere created in a time of
unpredictability, but their music will outlive them.
Prior to The Beatles, there were numerous precursors with different styles of music that existed that
came together to set the stage for the Beatles to become successful throughout the world and
throughout popular music. When the Beatles first became popular, rock and roll was only about
fifteen years old at that point, although they did have iconic musicians who they looked up to and
aspired to be like. John Lennon stated himself in an interview saying, If there hadn t been an
Elvis, there would not have been The Beatles. The band even did a cover of one of Elvis popular

Essay on A City Upon a Hill by John Winthrop
In John Winthrop s essay City Upon a Hill , Winthrop expresses his distinct views on the aims of
the Puritans coming to New England. During the early 17th century in Europe, some groups
separated from the Church of England. These groups were known as the Pilgrims, who founded
Plymouth Colony in 1620. This religion had a direct impact on religious ideas and culture in
America. John Winthrop acquired a royal charter from King Charles I and created the
Massachusetts Bay Colony. City Upon a Hill was written on the ship during the first mass Puritan
migration to New England. This document provided the followers with a plan regarding their goals
upon arriving in America. Winthrop firmly believes that the people who are willing to be fully...

He stresses throughout the essay that the settlers who are willing to be involved in this mission
must put their whole life into it and come together as one if they want their religion to succeed as
a model for other Christian churches throughout the world. Winthrop says that God will help them
in their times of need, and bless them in return for their faith in him. The author uses biblical
references such as Nadab and Abihu. He uses this to show the consequences of innovation in
worship. They were blessed by God until there were transgressions including their unauthorized
entry into the Holy of Holies , lack of reverence, and intoxication. The Lord had given them clear
instructions on how to do something, but Nadab and Abihu decided to disobey him do it in their
own choosing. He references them to give an example of sinning against the Lord. Another biblical
reference Winthrop makes is Saul and Amaleck, in which Saul makes a great mistake that denies
him his kingdom and results in his downfall. Winthrop mentions this because he is trying to convey
that the settlers are required to obey the Lord s wishes at all times.
Throughout the sermon, John Winthrop makes himself very clear about what he wants the
Massachusetts Bay Colony to accomplish when he establishes it. He desires it to be a strictly
religious society that will act as an example for the rest of the colonies. Winthrop lays out a plan of
exactly how he wants the colonists to act

Aggressive Behavior In The Movie Bug s Life
Watching television with my family, the movie Bug s Life comes to mind when that bug is
attracted to a neon light which it is warned to not look at it since it is a bug repeller and will
harm it. That scene and the result of the bug still coming toward it has stayed with me through all
my child and become a moral recently. During the weekend, I often found myself clicking on
another YouTube video, staring at the shiny screen and ignoring the world around them yet it was
not until I realized that isolating myself in a digital word leads to me acting differently and being
tired most of the time. Recently, an incident occurred involving social media that led to wondering
about the link between aggressive behavior and an over dependence... Show more content on

Thus, the high risk group shown in the Hostility Online study could be assessed as meeting some of
the guidelines of internet addiction, but not being excessive enough. (Yen, Ju Yu, et al). With the
multiple scales and inventories used by both studies to examine if clinical factors contributed to
internet addiction, the answer from the first study is that, statistical analyses that included potential
mediating variables (the BAI, BDI, and CASS) showed that clinical factors played mediating roles
only when aggression predicted IAD and not vice versa . (Yen, Ju Yu, et al). This means that
aggression when seen as a symptom of aggression is not bound by underlying clinical factors.
Regardless of clinical factors, the data concerning the casual relationship still stands. This is also
referenced in the first article when it mentions that, In terms of demographic data, it was confirmed
that adolescents in the Internet addiction group had higher scores on the BDI, BAI, and CASS
than did those in the other two groups [high risk user and standard user] (Lim, Jae A, et al).
Therefore, the argument of clinical factors does not contradict with Internet addiction causing the
aggressive behavior as examined by the BDI, BAI, and CASS

Persuasive Speech About Bucket List
I went over a bunch of bucket lists for the year 2016. What every single one of them had in
common is some kind of planned visit. Visit Paris or London (among the most popular ones), go
to the park (does this really need to be on a bucket list), visit a new country (I got you there), take
a vacation, road trip with a friend... I could assume you all made it, but then my post wouldn t

How Fear Can Destroy An Individual
Incident at Vichy displays the powerful and compelling example of how fear can destroy an
individual. The play takes place in Vichy, France in 1942. The Vichy government is controlled
by the Germans, who have taken over power for the last two years. A group of men and a young
boy have been arrested and have found themselves in a depressing and empty building sitting on
a bench waiting. All of the men and young boy were stopped, while alone, on a street when
suddenly a car pulled up to them and detectives in street clothing accompanied by a Professor,
forced them to get into a car. The moment all the men are brought together on the bench without
an explanation given to them as to why they were arrested, their location corresponds to or
becomes relative to the guarded door down a long corridor. A couple of the many themes that this
play explores is the theme of humanity s behaviors towards one another and responsibility. How
does ones fear become clear or obvious? At what point are we able to make logical justifications
when face to face with fear? When confronted with an institutionalized system that takes away all of
your rights, would an individual or group of people realize the importance of other acts of prejudice
or discrimination? Would this injustice trigger one to act? Would this injustice trigger others who
are not affected to act? The destiny of these group of men are determined in a short amount of time.
But these moments, filled with tension, uncertainty, and

The Psychological Immune System By Leslie Bell And Daniel...
The methods by which human beings rationalize their thinking can be explained through many
theories and speculations. Two important theories about human thought are explained by Leslie
Bell and Daniel Gilbert in their essays Hard to Get: Twenty Something women and the Paradox of
Sexual Freedom and Immune to Reality , respectively. Bell applies the term splitting to explain
how the women she spoke with are able to cope with the conflictions they feel over their sexual
desires. Splitting is a tool used within psychoanalytic theory to describe a means of dualistic or
binary thinking. Similarly, Gilbert coined the phrase psychological immune system to explain
human self rationalization behavior when someone suffers a severe setback. The psychological
immune system is a method of protecting the mindfrom the harsh reality of some events. Both
splitting and the psychological immune system approach the idea that human behavior is designed
to protect the well being of the mind whether it is through simplification, detachment, or fabrication
of the true circumstances.
The psychological immune system works by using specific tactics and strategies to help us
transform and understand a seemingly horrible event into a positive one or one that we can
understand. Gilbert explains that the psychological immune system is able to protect the mind by
unconsciously cooking the facts and then consciously consuming them (Gilbert 132). This means
that when presented with a

Good Faith Bargaining Research Paper
I fully agree with your post. I like how you stated that despite even though each party may not get
all the things they want and request however, being willing to compromise is what is important to
good faith bargaining. Essentially, good faith bargaining commonly refers to the duty of the
parties to meet and negotiate at reasonable times with willingness to reach an agreement on
matters within the range of representation; however, neither party is required to cop out or agree
to any proposal. Therefore, I can agree that the current legal remedies for bad faith bargaining are
inadequate because they essentially fail both to deter wrongdoing and to compensate victims of
unlawful discrimination. Furthermore, the Board has a standard remedial tactic for employer
misconduct during organizing drives. It can employ a cease and desist order posted at the work
site which is the posting notice which is the remedy for violations of 8(a)(1). Moreover, in
uncommon situations, the Board orders the employer to bargain with a union whose majority
support was destroyed by an outstandingly bad and pervading employer unfair labor practices.
Thus, these remedies are entirely inadequate. The cease and desist order is intended to deter future...

Essentially, many alternative approaches to the problems are being focused upon. Moreover,
proposals such as labor relation boards should fulfill their remedial mandate by awarding remedies
that fully compensate the harm caused to individual employees, collective employee interests, and
the union by employer unfair labor practices committed during union organizing. Thus, this
proposal requires no change to LRBs remedial powers, and it reduces incentives for employers to
violate labour legislation. Instead, it fosters collective bargaining relationships (Slinn,

Also in another article it is stated that, a protein in milk is found in the latest treatment for

Who Does Not Hold A Christian Worldview
Interviewing someone who does not hold a Christian worldview was very interesting. This
interviewee is not only a self proclaimed atheist, but holds a hostile opinion of Christians in general.
This interview was an opportunity to understand her position and potentially flush out (in an
unassuming way) some flaws in her beliefsystem. One comment that leapt out at me was the belief
that basic instinct in humans and animals are the same, and that we can know right from wrong,
and good from bad, the entire question of ethics, purely by instinct. I disagree with this statement.
On the one hand, I believe instinct in humans is simply God s image within us, so if I were to say
this about people, that would be my meaning. However, in this... Show more content on

For instance, I asked who gets to decide that racism or hurting people is not okay? Some cultures
see hurting others as reasonable (look at honor killings) and is expected. What makes our culture
right and those other cultures wrong? Who decides what that standard is? The answer of trial and
error ran itself in circles, so I gently moved on. My intent was only to pose additional questions
to provide continued thinking after the interview ended. To summarize her perspective, the
world does not have a creator, but it has order. It began as a star and formed into a planet once it
became part of the solar system, and is a continued process of evolution. Living organisms from a
different planet hitchhiked onto the earth through a foreign object such as a meteorite and created
life, eventually evolving into a species which continues to evolve. The ability to think and reason
is a direct result of the evolution process in humans and animals, taking us from a primitive state
to a high functioning species. This high level of functioning is a combination of learned
behaviours and basic instincts that sends signals to our brain that communicates right from wrong
based on our emotional or physical response, how it makes us feel. Rules and laws have been set
for people to follow based on these conclusions, which in turn helps us control behaviours because
we tend to follow rules and law. All life cycles on earth end in personal extinction with nothing

Analysis Of The New York Times By Nicholas D. Quot
The concept that marriage can occur, endure, and succeed without the factor of love seems to be
common in many other places in the world. Who Needs Love! In Japan, Many Couples Don t,
by Nicholas D. Kristof published in the New York Times in 1996 explores the aspects and success
of loveless marriage in Japan beginning with Yuri Uemura of Omiya, Japan. The article opens with
a small description of the setting of the interview and the blunt fact that there was never any
marriagebetween Yuri and her husband. But she follows this with the fact that they survived. Yuri
dives into the facts of never receiving neither affirmation from her husband nor affection. She
offers a sad comparison of how relationships between a male and a female animal seem better than
her own marriage. This example of a marriage is given to show how important familyis in Japan
regardless of the level of happiness. The example is followed by some simple statistics and facts
comparing marriage in Japan to the rest of the world. Japan s divorce rate is less than half the
divorce rate of the United States even though it is at a record high. It is shared that the traditional
family structure is crumbling in the US and Europe while Japan s is still going strong. Kristof also
supports the strength of the family structure by offering the evidence of a study that was published
by the Population Council declaring that the rate of two family traditional household is falling
significantly worldwide with one

The Contributions Of John Stuart Mill
John Stuart Mill was a British philosopher who was born on May 20, 1806 in London, England, to
Harriet Burrow and James Mill, a noted economist, philosopher and historian. James Mill was an
educated man who was heavily involved in an early 19th century movement called philosophic
radicalism, a school of thought also known as Utilitarianism, which highlighted the demand for a
scientific foundation for philosophy, as well as a humanist approach to economics politics. It was
this foundation from which James Millurged and advanced his eldest son s education from a very
early age. John Stuart studied Greek at age three and Latin at eight, and he was asked to recite
everything he had learned to his father every day. John Stuart also studied mathematics and science
for his personal enjoyment and would engage in long discussions with his father about histories and
biographies that he had read. It is interesting to note that John Stuart was also empowered with the
responsible for educating his eight younger siblings. His childhood comprised of a strict
environment of learning, teachings and tutoring, however, John Stuart felt that he was emotionally
compromised by his father s educational plan. Although John Stuart never actually attended
university, by the age of twenty, he essentially had a postgraduate self education in logic, political
economy and law. As an adult, John Stuart once stated that, out of all of his studies, teachings and
education, the element that he

I Am A Baseball Field
Everybody has a special place that means so much to them every time the set foot there. My special
place just so happens to be a baseball field. It doesn t necessarily have to be a particular field, it s
just that every time I set foot on one I think of all the memories made when playing the game and
of all the friends I have made because of it. I have been playing baseballfor practically my entire life
and along the way have learned a lot of life lessons because of it. A few fields that specifically
stand out to me are Cooperstown Dreams Park and Wenatchee Valley College baseball field
. A
baseball field is very unique. The smell of the fresh cut grass on game day and the feeling of the
dirt under your cleats are something only baseball players can describe. Every time I set foot on
the field for a game, it always feels like the first time with the pre game jitters and adrenaline
rush of the first pitch. Going to a baseball field at any level from little league or to a professional
game, I just love to take in all of the excitement and fun while enjoying every playmade because
baseball is easily the greatest game ever invented. A baseball field isn t necessarily loud like a
football game, but it is also relaxing to where you can sit and enjoy the weather and enjoy
conversing with whoever you are there with all while watching a great game played by kids or
adults. That s the atmosphere that I like, and that s another reason a baseball field is my place of
comfort.

Mark Edmundson Anti-Idealism
In Mark Edmundson s Polemical Introduction to his novel, Self and Soul, he analyzes how the
modern world has lost the ideals held by the ancient world, such as the heroic ideal, the religious
ideal, and the ideal of contemplation. Edmundson cites the loss of these ideals through modern
writers, such as Shakespeare and Freud. Edmundson specifically calls Freud a relentless enemy
of the warrior ideal, the religious ideal, and the ideal of transcendent philosophy. The truth in
Edmundson s analysis of Freud s anti idealist view can be seen in Freud s novel, Civilization and
Its Discontents. In this novel, Edmundson s assessment is most evident that Freud sees a desire to
follow ideals as a fall to illusion, as well as Freud s obvious... Show more content on

These attempts can be defined through Freud s pleasure principle, which aimed for an absence of
pain and unpleasure, and, on the other hand, at the experiencing of strong feelings of pleasure
(42). Therefore, happiness is not really possible all the time, as it seems to only come from
unhappiness, or a release from unpleasure. Since the purpose of life is not to be happy but rather,
only to survive, it calls in to question whether there is a meaning to life brought upon by a higher
power. Freud s idea of transcendency and the purpose of life seems to be answered when he writes,
the question of the purpose of human life has been raised countless times; it has never yet received
a satisfactory answer and perhaps does not admit of one (41 42). His answer seems that be that
there is no real purpose to existence, except for survival; rather, life only has the meaning that we
give it. Overall, this seems to be very dismissive of the idea of a higher power, deity, or purpose,
which is represented the ancient world ideal of transcendent philosophy. Another ideal that
Edmundson saw as one held by the ancient world was that of the heroic ideal, which Edmundson
typified through Achilles and Hector, who characterized the warrior soldier and the citizen soldier,

Asian-American Women Stereotypes
As an Asian American woman, I want to see better representation for the Asian community; if
media is supposed to reflect the real world, then there is no excuse for leaving Asians out in
American films. I want to dissect why Asians are still marginalized and stereotyped today when
there is a demand for more diversity in media. In addition, I want to cover the history behind the
stereotyping and whitewashing of Asians in Hollywood and how that still has a negative impact
today. In fact, recent movies have white washed Asian roles in favor of white actors. In May 2015,
Sony released Aloha, where Emma Stone portrayed Allison Ng, a part Chinese Hawaiian fighter
pilot. This blatant erasure is also evident in Dreamworks casting of Scarlett Johansson... Show more

Movies produced in the later half of the twentieth century still suffered from stereotypes set by
films from years ago. In Year of the Dragon (1985), Tracy Tzu, despite being a professional
newscaster, was also portrayed as seductive and mysterious, manhandled and dominated by the
Caucasian hero, Stanley White, as he overpowers her and carries her off to bed like a trophy
(Rajgopal, 2010, p. 149). These stereotypes of Asian women in film feed into the stereotypes of
Asian women offscreen, and being perceived as exotic and submissive contributes to a higher
risk of sexual assault, as if they are somehow asking for it (Rajgopal, 2010). The portrayal of
Asians matched with the progression of history showed America was projecting its fear and
othering Asians through media. If Asians are not portrayed in a stereotypical role, then they are
given no role at all, rendered invisible by Hollywood and the masses. Because the West was not
hugely exposed to the East, the easiest way to generalize Eastern people was to build fictional
characters of an extreme (Wang, 2010, p. 86). Asians were not talked about, and when they were, it
was through caricatures and

George Gascoigne
In 1573, George Gascoigne published For That He Looked Not upon Her, a poem in which his
careful and methodical approach to the sonnet form is evident. Two years later, he published
Certayne Notes of Instruction on Making of Verse, which only further served to cement his
reputation as meticulous and deliberate with his choice of language and form every choice
Gascoigne makes is made with a purpose in mind. This is especially evident in For That He
Looked Not upon Her, wherein Gascoigne utilizes both the intentionally chosen sonnet form and
vivid imagery to develop his criticism of the classic sonnet in which the beloved s refusal of the
author only serves to make him more determined to pursue her. The sonnet form is typically one
chosen... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Gascoigne s metaphor, a mouse that had escaped a trap is unlikely to return, even if given
motivation to return to the trap and try for the food again (5 8). The idea of an tiny, innocent
animal representative of sonneteers caught in a trap which represents their beloved s chronic
rejection, is designed to engender feelings of sadness and pity in readers. Likewise, in
Gascoigne s second metaphor, it is improbable that a fly that has been burned by a flame would
approach any flame thereafter (9 12), once again inspiring compassion in the reader for the
sonneteers emotional pain. In more modern times, flies are seen as less unclean and disgusting
creatures than they were in the past, but in Gascoigne s day, that would not have been the case.
The same holds true for mice in Gascoigne s day, mice were seen as pests to be rid of at all costs.
No one would have sympathized with a mouse. So Gascoigne s argument changes contextually;
instead of creatures to be sympathized with, the mouse and fly and by extension the sonneteers are
simply nuisances to be rid

The Application of Psychodynamic Theory Through Dream...
INTRODUCTION Psychodynamic Theory is based on the premise that human behaviour and
relationships are shaped by conscious and unconscious influences and include factors such as
internal processes, personality, motivation and drives, and the importance of childhood experiences.
The essay will discuss and demonstrate the application of dream analysis as a counselling approach
and the personal and technical challenges associated with using the psychoanalytic technique of
‘free association’.This will be done by analysing my own personal dream from a
psychoanalytical perspective I will identify and describe two of the techniques used in
psychoanalytical therapy: 1. Psychoanalytical Technique of Free Association 2. Dream... Show

In adults, however, the situation is more complicated as the dreams of adults have been subjected to
distortion, with the dream s so called manifest content ,including the remnants of the previous days
events or thoughts being a heavily disguised derivative of the latent content, dream thoughts present
in the unconscious, consisting of hidden, symbolic and unconscious motives, wishes and fears. The
manifest content of a dream is the actual content of the dream, what actually happened during the
dream. In contrast, the latent content of the dream is the symbolic meaning of the content of the
dream. In order for a counsellor to get to the latent content, the client discusses the dream s manifest
content and is encouraged to free associate about the dream. It then becomes the
counsellor’s task to decipher the dream s latent content through both defense mechanisms
that may be present in the telling of the dream and in the free association about it. There is natural
censorship within dreams that will present when a client talks about the dream, and reservations or
repressions that the client consciously adds into the dream discussion. Each of the repressions and
censors must be overcome, and the counsellor will have to look deep into the content of the
discussion to get to the bottom of it. According to Freud the mind contains three distinct and actual
areas, which he referred to as the: The

War is often characterized by tales of great valor performed by courageous warriors willing to stake their lives in order to defend their country, but such people are few and far between. What history so often neglects is the silent majority of almost any army: the rank and file, the so called average Joes that lose any sense of individuality as they disappear within a horde of identical bodies. With the multiple scales and inventories used by both studies to examine if clinical factors contributed to internet addiction, the answer from the first study is that, statistical analyses that included potential mediating variables (the BAI, BDI, and CASS) showed that clinical factors played mediating roles only when aggression predicted IAD and not vice versa . (Yen, Ju Yu, et al). This means that aggression when seen as a symptom of aggression is not bound by underlying clinical factors. Regardless of clinical factors, the data concerning the casual relationship still stands. This is also referenced in the first article when it mentions that, In terms of demographic data, it was confirmed that adolescents in the Internet addiction group had higher scores on the BDI, BAI, and CASS than did those in the other two groups [high risk user and standard user] (Lim, Jae A, et al). • 27. How Fear Can Destroy An Individual Incident at Vichy displays the powerful and compelling example of how fear can destroy an individual. The play takes place in Vichy, France in 1942. The Vichy government is controlled by the Germans, who have taken over power for the last two years. A group of men and a young boy have been arrested and have found themselves in a depressing and empty building sitting on a bench waiting. All of the men and young boy were stopped, while alone, on a street when suddenly a car pulled up to them and detectives in street clothing accompanied by a Professor, forced them to get into a car. The moment all the men are brought together on the bench without an explanation given to them as to why they were arrested, their location corresponds to or becomes relative to the guarded door down a long corridor. A couple of the many themes that this play explores is the theme of humanity s behaviors towards one another and responsibility. How does ones fear become clear or obvious? At what point are we able to make logical justifications when face to face with fear? When confronted with an institutionalized system that takes away all of your rights, would an individual or group of people realize the importance of other acts of prejudice or discrimination? Would this injustice trigger one to act? Would this injustice trigger others who are not affected to act? The destiny of these group of men are determined in a short amount of time. • 28. The Psychological Immune System By Leslie Bell And Daniel... The methods by which human beings rationalize their thinking can be explained through many theories and speculations. Two important theories about human thought are explained by Leslie Bell and Daniel Gilbert in their essays Hard to Get: Twenty Something women and the Paradox of Sexual Freedom and Immune to Reality , respectively. Bell applies the term splitting to explain how the women she spoke with are able to cope with the conflictions they feel over their sexual desires. Splitting is a tool used within psychoanalytic theory to describe a means of dualistic or binary thinking. Similarly, Gilbert coined the phrase psychological immune system to explain human self rationalization behavior when someone suffers a severe setback. The psychological immune system is a method of protecting the mindfrom the harsh reality of some events. Both splitting and the psychological immune system approach the idea that human behavior is designed to protect the well being of the mind whether it is through simplification, detachment, or fabrication of the true circumstances. The psychological immune system works by using specific tactics and strategies to help us transform and understand a seemingly horrible event into a positive one or one that we can understand. Gilbert explains that the psychological immune system is able to protect the mind by unconsciously cooking the facts and then consciously consuming them (Gilbert 132). This means that when presented with a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Good Faith Bargaining Research Paper I fully agree with your post. I like how you stated that despite even though each party may not get all the things they want and request however, being willing to compromise is what is important to good faith bargaining. Essentially, good faith bargaining commonly refers to the duty of the parties to meet and negotiate at reasonable times with willingness to reach an agreement on matters within the range of representation; however, neither party is required to cop out or agree to any proposal. Therefore, I can agree that the current legal remedies for bad faith bargaining are inadequate because they essentially fail both to deter wrongdoing and to compensate victims of unlawful discrimination. Furthermore, the Board has a standard remedial tactic for employer misconduct during organizing drives. It can employ a cease and desist order posted at the work site which is the posting notice which is the remedy for violations of 8(a)(1). This interviewee is not only a self proclaimed atheist, but holds a hostile opinion of Christians in general. This interview was an opportunity to understand her position and potentially flush out (in an unassuming way) some flaws in her beliefsystem. One comment that leapt out at me was the belief that basic instinct in humans and animals are the same, and that we can know right from wrong, and good from bad, the entire question of ethics, purely by instinct. I disagree with this statement. On the one hand, I believe instinct in humans is simply God s image within us, so if I were to say this about people, that would be my meaning. However, in this... Some cultures see hurting others as reasonable (look at honor killings) and is expected. What makes our culture right and those other cultures wrong? Who decides what that standard is? The answer of trial and error ran itself in circles, so I gently moved on. My intent was only to pose additional questions to provide continued thinking after the interview ended. To summarize her perspective, the world does not have a creator, but it has order. It began as a star and formed into a planet once it became part of the solar system, and is a continued process of evolution. Living organisms from a different planet hitchhiked onto the earth through a foreign object such as a meteorite and created life, eventually evolving into a species which continues to evolve. The ability to think and reason is a direct result of the evolution process in humans and animals, taking us from a primitive state to a high functioning species. This high level of functioning is a combination of learned behaviours and basic instincts that sends signals to our brain that communicates right from wrong based on our emotional or physical response, how it makes us feel. Rules and laws have been set for people to follow based on these conclusions, which in turn helps us control behaviours because we tend to follow rules and law. Who Needs Love! In Japan, Many Couples Don t, by Nicholas D. Kristof published in the New York Times in 1996 explores the aspects and success of loveless marriage in Japan beginning with Yuri Uemura of Omiya, Japan. The article opens with a small description of the setting of the interview and the blunt fact that there was never any marriagebetween Yuri and her husband. But she follows this with the fact that they survived. Yuri dives into the facts of never receiving neither affirmation from her husband nor affection. She offers a sad comparison of how relationships between a male and a female animal seem better than her own marriage. This example of a marriage is given to show how important familyis in Japan regardless of the level of happiness. The example is followed by some simple statistics and facts comparing marriage in Japan to the rest of the world. Japan s divorce rate is less than half the divorce rate of the United States even though it is at a record high. James Mill was an educated man who was heavily involved in an early 19th century movement called philosophic radicalism, a school of thought also known as Utilitarianism, which highlighted the demand for a scientific foundation for philosophy, as well as a humanist approach to economics politics. It was this foundation from which James Millurged and advanced his eldest son s education from a very early age. John Stuart studied Greek at age three and Latin at eight, and he was asked to recite everything he had learned to his father every day. Since the purpose of life is not to be happy but rather, only to survive, it calls in to question whether there is a meaning to life brought upon by a higher power. Freud s idea of transcendency and the purpose of life seems to be answered when he writes, the question of the purpose of human life has been raised countless times; it has never yet received a satisfactory answer and perhaps does not admit of one (41 42). Each of the repressions and censors must be overcome, and the counsellor will have to look deep into the content of the discussion to get to the bottom of it. According to Freud the mind contains three distinct and actual areas, which he referred to as the: The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
