newsboy crying out the Seattle Post Intelligencer s morning headline in the Puget Sound area on July
17, 1897. The Puget Sound s residents who gathered at the small waterfront area were attracted by the
tempting title. The message had sent shock waves across entire North America. Within days, I saw
thousands of fortune seekers risking their lives for the unknown adventures of finding gold. The
stampeders eagerly bought supplies and then boarded ships bound for the wild unknown of Alaska and

In the opening of the first book The Fellowship of the Ring Tolkien puts a poem which begins, Three
Rings for the Elven kings under the sky, Seven for Dwarf lords in their halls of stone, Nine for Mortal

Success as One of The American Dream When we hear the word success , we often think of wealth
and money. To some people, the embodiment of being success is earning a lot of money. In fact, the
concept of success is primarily based on how much money a person earns. However, each person
views the definition of success differently. One way to define success is something that has more to do
with flash than it does with substance. John Wooden, an American basketball player and coach view
success as a peace of mind which is a direct result of self satisfaction in knowing you did your best to
become the best you are capable of becoming (JLP). John Wooden believes that true measure of
success comes simply when someone do the best they can do, no matter what the outcome is. This
shows that some people view success in a way that does not deal with wealth and money. Success is
considered as one of the American Dream which each individual have at least dream of achieving it at

Skydiving is an adrenaline based sport with a fairly simple concept jump from a high place (usually
out of a plane) from several thousand feet above sea level and hope and pray for a safe landing. This
safe landing is often times achieved through the use of a device called a parachute, which enables the
skydiver to reduce his speed to such a point that colliding with the earth will not be fatal.
