Water is essential for all living things to survive. Without water, life would be impossible.
Seventy percent of the world is covered by water but only 2.5 percent is fresh water. (1) Not only
is freshwater used for domestic and personal purposes, it is also used for irrigation, thermoelectric,
industrial and agriculture. (2) Although freshwater seems to be untarnished, it regularly contains a
variety of solutes ranging from gas in the environment to inorganic salts and minerals of rocks.
Due to the ions dissolved, the water has a possibility to be hard or soft.
Water hardness is defined as the amount of dissolved calcium and magnesium in the water. (2) In
order to have hard water, calcium (Ca^(2+)) and magnesium (Mg^(2+)) need to have a high
concentration of both ions dissolved into the water. Depending on the amount of dissolved
minerals, water hardness has the possibility of being detected without actually experimentally

Game theory is a popular resource for modelling economic, sociological, philosophical and many
other situations. The Stanford Encyclopaedia of Philosophy defines it as the study of the ways in
which interacting choices of economic agents produce outcomes with respect to the preferences (or
utilities) of those agents, where the outcomes in question might have been intended by none of the
agents. Game theory has many uses, including describing and predicting ideal behaviour as
discussed later on. It can be used to model and predict for example. There are, however, criticisms
to game theory in regards to its ability to apply to human rationality and emotion. Due to the
widespread use of game theory, this has become a popular area of research in economic,
philosophic and even psychological theory.
One can think of game theory as descriptive due to the fact we often use game theory to explain
or justify people s actions after they are taken. This is best seen in analytics of games or sports,
where an analyst might weigh up the advantages and disadvantages to explain a player s actions.
An example of this would be a retrospective analysis of a chess game, where game theory can be
applied to each move to explain why the player might have played a move that seemed illogical
without further thought, but ultimately gains an advantage. This only works assuming both player

countries are a ton of smaller and more compact states. Inside these states are a bunch of cities. In
the history of this country, however, there weren t always the states that we know and love. There

were once under very harsh rule and were not very equip to fight back and become separated. They
were under the rule of Great Britain. They did not have the man power to gain their independence.
They were not ready for this extremely tough challenge. However, with the army that they had, they
were ready to fight. From the beginning of the time when the British were the rulers of the
Colonies, there was always very heavy tension. The people of the British government, under the rule
of King George III, were extremely harsh rulers. They told the colonies what to do, when to do it,
and how to do it. They were not fair in any way. Beginning in 1765, leading members of the
colonies were not happy with the taxing that the British were putting them under. They felt that the
British government had no right to tax them when they had no representation in government. This

At University of California, Santa Barbara, in 2014, the student Senate passed a resolution that
called for mandatory trigger warnings. This resolution, if it had become campus policy,
proposed that not only students who have been diagnosed with PTSD would be exempt from

According to NPR author Anya Kamenetz, 51% out of 841 professors reported that they ve used a
trigger warning in advance of introducing potentially difficult material (Kamenetz). University
faculty and staff have increasingly used trigger warnings to alert students to the possibility that they
might be affected or even harmed by potentially traumatic material. In colleges like Oberlin and
UCSB, trigger warnings are given in assumption that universities have a responsibility to protect
students from controversial or potentially sensitive material. Joanna Williams, director of the Centre
for the Study of Higher Education at the University of Kent, points out that the entire canon of
English literature could contain warnings as to the emotional nature of the content and the
issues covered (Williams 17). This has already begun to happen as some students have called for

violence, so that those students who have been previously victimized by racism or domestic
violence can choose to avoid these works, due to the possibility of a trigger. Williams also
mentions that lecturers driven by the pursuit of student satisfaction may well choose to self

Teams Are An Integral Part Of Most Business Situations
In all employment situations, there will be circumstances where an employee will find themselves
on a team with a specific problem to solve or goal to reach. Teams are an integral part of most
business situations. Leadership within the respective organization often creates teams. The way
that the leadershipinteracts with the teams can affect how cohesive the team is and if they reach
their goals. These two groups can cause a business to succeed or fail.
Teams
Utilizing teamwork has been a key to the success of our military for many years. The most
effective of these is the cross functional team. This is a team comprised of, employees from about
the same hierarchical level, but from different work areas, who come together to accomplish a task.
(Robbins Judge, 2009) One of these teams I was a part of was involved in ensuring a large multi
agency training event occurred without any problems. This event involved the Active Army, Army
Reserves, Army National Guard, Active Air Force, Air Force National Guard, Marine Corps, local
fire departments, local law enforcement agencies, and the Departments of Emergency Management
from multiple states. It had national military and civilian leaders that came to watch the outcome.
This extremely high stress situation was accomplished through teamwork and planning. The event
was checking the response of the agencies to a natural disaster situation. The meetings that we had
