A Joint Venture Company
From the point of view of a general manager in a JVC there are many things to take into account during the day to day management. It is likely to be different
from normal organization since employees are formed by people from different countries which have different tradition while at the same time the manager has
to face possible divergent requirements from the patent companies. Some issues could happen during the short to long run and may have huge impact on the
JVC. Therefore solutions and suggestions will be given in order to minimise the impact they have on the long term survival of the JVC.

2.1.1 Building the team
Tuckman (1965) suggested that there are 4 stages of development that a team will go through which are forming, storming, norming and performing. The first
stage forming is when people come together to get to know each other and try to avoid conflict at the same time. During this stage there should be no obvious
issues for the manager because people are just trying to get to know each other and trying to learn what to do next. On the other hand the situation on the
following stages could be more challenging. During the storming stage employee will start to have conflict with each other. These conflicts could be caused by
differences in culture and working style in previous company where employee may find hard to adopt. If the problems were not fix properly then it is possible
that the team can stay together any longer. The third stage is when team members had overcome all the conflicts and members started to bind together where
they will be supportive and respect each other. The general manager should be alerted at all times even at this stage because may be people compromise only
due to the fear of losing their job. They will then reluctant to share ideas that might improve the performance because it might just create another possible
conflict.

Hades Shall Not Prevail Against It
The Church The Church is a very important part of Christianity. It is more than just a building, it is the people that are in the building. It is a place of
fellowship and for all to worship God as a family. Without the church, it would be very difficult for Christians to grow in their walk with Christ and have
fellowship with other believers on a consistent schedule. The church is so important that God has promised to preserve it. Matthew 16:18 says, on this rock I
will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it (NKJV). The Church began after the death of Christ, it is both the body and the bride
of Christ and the purpose of the church is to worship God, teach believers and spread the gospel to the world (Davis). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

These three purposes are to worship God, to educate and instruct itself, and to spread the Gospel to the world (Davis). The Bible commands believers to
worship God in John 4:24 when it says, God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth (NKJV). God also instructs the church to
equip His people for works of service, so that the Body of Christ may be built up, until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God
(NIV). This instruction from God is to teach and instruct Christians so that they can be confident in their faith and learn more about God (Davis). Christians
are also taught so that they can teach and help other Christians to grow in their faith. The last main purpose of the church is to evangelize the world and share
God s word with every person so that all people have the opportunity to accept Christ (Davis). This is known as the Great Commission and it is found in
Matthew 28:19 20, Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirt, and teaching
them to obey everything I have commanded you (NIV). The Church would not exist if Christ did not come and die on the cross. It is by His blood that all can
be saved and worship God as a church family. As a church, Christians are the body of Christ and He is the head. The church is also the Bride of Christ, which

Summary Of Rudyard Kipling s The Great Gatsby Essay

(Citizens, I give you friendly warning).
That the things that truly last when men and times have passed, they are all in Pennsylvania this morning!
Rudyard Kipling 1. The Commonwealth They Served
The weather was seasonally cold in Pennsylvania s Capitol late in 1914. On Sunday morning, December 27, the temperature was 1 degree Fahrenheit. This
reading was the lowest ever registered in the last month of the year during the almost three decade history of the Harrisburg weather station. Nevertheless, the
cold did not dim the spirit of the holiday season as the Harrisburg Evening Telegraph newspaper cheerfully proclaimed, Perfect Christmas Makes City Happy.
During that week Governor John K. Tener, in the last month of his term, released a legislatively mandated report that made history. The Report of the Economy
and Efficiency Commission, for one of the very few times in Pennsylvania s Chronicle, provided the public with a roster of all 5,152 state employees. The
release of this document was a key milestone in the Commonwealth s early 20th century effort to improve its personnel management practices.
By listing names, this document provides an opportunity to recognize the often unheralded contributions of selected state employees assigned to organizations
under the general supervision of the Governor. The register also affords an invaluable chance to appreciate how the offices, bureaus, and divisions make

Japan is quite an interesting place. I have never personally been to Japan, but my grandpa has gone there multiple times. I remember how he would bring stuff
from his trips for me and my dad. It was interesting to see all the different stuff he brings back, it was crazy. One day he just got back from Japan and give me
this comic book called Sailor Moon. To me at the time it was the weirdest thing. I don t know if you know this, but Japanese comic books (also known as
manga) are supposed to be read backwards. In America all the books you read are left to right well for these books you read them right to left. The most

Both are pretty bad in their own ways. Physical fights as I see it, is when the people fighting are just going for hurting the body. The mental fights for me are
trickier because half the time people don t even realize they re in one till it s too late. Honestly I think it s girls who start the mental fights 90% of the time. The
become your friend, but the moment you mess up something. Like for example, their birthday or favorite color. They become your worst enemy, and you don t
know that they re plotting against you until it s too late. They are like a mean puppy in a sense. Nice and friendly at first, but then the next thing you know you
re petting them and they re trying to bite your hand off.
I honestly think that people start fights because they re bored and in need of something to talk about. I think people should get more into being productive
rather than starting drama just so they can relate to their favorite tv show stars. Like I know this girl named Serena and let me tell you she loves drama. With
her it is like new drama is always coming up. It can be quite annoying honestly. I find it rather crazy to me how you always hear people say I don t like drama,
but a week later you hear how they ended up starting drama. I m just personally sick of all the fighting/drama, but people seem to just love it.

Similarities Between The Great Gatsby And Atonement
This essay looks at The Great Gatsby written by F.Scott Fitzgerald and Atonement written by Ian McEwan, and their film adaptations, The Great Gatsby
directed by Baz Luhrman and Atonement directed by Joe Wright. Many film directors that decide to adapt a novel to a film often change the essence and core
message of the original work of the author. According to Paulo Coelho, the reader has a certain perception about the characters, scenes, and details of the
novel. But when the reader goes to watch the film adaptation, all these perceptions and views are ruined and the reader often ends up leaving the film feeling
disappointed. However, I do not agree that Joe Wright and Baz Luhrman changed the message of the two novels. To a large extent, I was not disappointed by
the film adaptations of The Great Gatsby and Atonement. I believe that both film directors have stayed loyal and faithful to the novel, they did not change my

simply not how the human mind works. Despite being fiction, media products like this can still influence: our views of the vehicle in question (as the
advertiser fervently hopes); the ability of women today to become authoritative, powerful professionals, yet to still have a family (presumably this ad was
directed mainly at women who would identify with the surgeon); the basic set up of OR s, the kinds of professionals who participate, how they dress, and what
tools they use; and of course, the relative power, knowledge and professional roles of physicians and nurses. Some of this may be unintended, but all of it sells
the minivan to the target demographic. All of the elements above contribute to the high credibility of the surgeon, who is, after all, doing the selling. In this
manner media also increase the knowledge of those that are committing crimes, what they may not have been doing before they are doing it now. For example

The Biological Theory Kate Millet Essay
The biological theory Kate Millet point out that male supremacy dos not reside in physical strength but in the acceptance of a value system which is not
biological; superior physical strength is not a factor in political relations vide those of race and class .(Millet, 27). Kate Millet points out in ancient society at
some point took a turn toward patriarchy, displacing female function in procreation and attributing the power of life to phallus alone. The temperamental
distinction created in patriarchy ( masculine and feminine personal traits does not appear to originate in human nature, but popular attitude, patriarchal religion

President Celso Valmores in his speech before the board members said: I would like to seek your opinion regarding a major initiative of our bank, which is part
of the implementation of Golden Opportunity Commercial Bank s (GOCB) renewed strategy to be the bank of choice in terms of consumer banking. To be
able to finance this new strategy and to aggressively revive our bank, GOCB is contemplating a major move that will, in effect, recover from losses brought
about by increasing mortgage default payments, valued at P5.0 billion. This move is designed to fully extinguish our debts, create a new and dynamic bank and

A number of branches were increased to 30 from 10, which are located in the various areas of Metro Manila, Cebu, Davao, Naga, and Baguio City. GOCB
eventually became a highly tradable publicly held company.
In his desire to further increase its revenues at approximately 300%, he sought new opportunities. The bank teamed up with GRC and entered into a guarantee
agreement with the Home Guaranty Corporation (HGC) for the securitization of P5.8 billion worth of housing loans. The guaranty program aimed to liquefy
through the asset backed securitization (ABS) ranging from P10,000 to 1.0 M, with a yield of 15% per annum paid quarterly and a term of five years. This
strategy met with great success for 6 straight years of record increases in profits. In 2006, GOCB was highly leveraged with as high as 85 percent. However, it
managed to lower the debt ratio to 60 percent to retain shareholder confidence and ensure the bank s eligibility for a B bond rating. Strong reputable brand
name, financial strength, and a strategic fit were the three key ingredients why the GOCB s 10 million shares had market value of P250 each which is 10 times
the net income per share. This further boosted its market position to hold the top 20 spot with a total resource base of P35 billion as of December 2007, which
comprised of 10% of the entire banking industry s total resources.

Metamorphosis And Dantes Inferno Comparison
In The Metamorphosis you have a man who turns into a bug and in Dante s Inferno you have a man sending people to nine different levels of hell, but
someway they relate to each other in many ways. Sympathy is what makes these two books so similar. The author makes the reader feel sympathy for the
character but the author himself has no sympathy for the character. The Metamorphosis and Dante s Inferno have the author developing the story so the
characters have sympathy towards each other but the author has no sympathy towards the characters. First lets show how this happened in The Metamorphosis.

In Dante s Inferno as the reader we can see that the author the author has no sympathy towards either of the characters similar to how the author from The
Metamorphosis had no sympathy for Gregor. Throughout the whole story the author is showing how two people who have fallen in love with each other were
sent to hell as a single person. This is shown in the book when dante says Love led us to one death. Everyone knows that this is not possible but it is showing
how neither of them are their own person because they based their lives on one another. When the author did this he showed how much he didn t care. He had
no sympathy for those characters at all. Once the characters were in hell they were stripped of their identities and had no more loe for each other. To add on to
these lovers being in hell they have not committed a sin to be there. That is another reason that the reader can think of why the author is so unsympathetic
towards the characters. Before we saw how the author viewed the two characters

Climate Change and Public Policy Essay examples
It is becoming increasingly certain that climate change will have severe adverse effects on the environment in years to come. Addressing this issue poses a
serious challenge for policy makers. How we choose to respond to the threat of global warming is not simply a political issue. It is also an economic issue and
an ethical one. Responsible, effective climate change policy requires consideration of a number of complex factors, including weighing the costs of
implementing climate change policies against the benefits of more environmentally sustainable practices. Furthermore, this analysis must take place amidst
serious gaps in the existing research and technology concerning the developing climatic condition. For these reasons, global ... Show more content on

However, even for those who are less motivated by such moralistic calls to action, the fact remains that conservation is as much an economic issue as an
ethical one. While economic considerations are a problematic feature of climate change policy, under the proper analysis, they also serve as an important
motivator. Economic analysis that weighs all costs and benefits of a particular model must include environmental considerations. That is to say, the potential
for short term economic losses caused by conservation in the present, should be measured against the dividends that conservation will pay in the future
(Nordhaus, 2007). If the earth is truly our most valuable commodity, then analysis under these conditions should recognize that if a dollar value were placed on
environmental sustainability, more often than not it would outweigh any initial monetary loss resultant of the implementation of more sustainable practices.
Indeed, if we accept the danger of global warming to be a real and present one, then the question of how to address it must be given serious consideration.
Research conducted from as early as the 1950s through the present has afforded us a solid understanding of its causes. In the most basic sense, the problem lies
in the burning of carbon based fossil fuels such as carbon and oil which leads to the emission of carbon dioxide (CO2). Gases such as CO2 are referred to as
greenhouse gases (GHGs) which accumulate in the atmosphere. GHGs can

Crime And Juvenile And Adult Crimes
In today s criminal justice system in the United States, there is a lot of dispute between what the qualifications are for juvenile and adult crimes. Some believe
that the only difference is age. Others say it is the severity of the crime. It s obvious that when adults commit crimes, whether they are a misdemeanor offense
or a felony, they pay for it. The confliction comes when a juvenile commits a crime. What exactly determines if they are tried as an adult or a juvenile? Does it
vary by state to state? Are there federal laws that govern that debate? There have been cases where children have been tried in a court of law as an adult. So
what exactly is the clear cut reason why juveniles are tired sometimes as adults, and other times as juveniles?
So what exactly is a crime to begin with? According to dictionary.com, crime is defined as an action or an instance of negligence that is deemed injurious to
the public welfare or morals or to the interests of the state and that is legally prohibited. (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/crime?s=t). People of all ages
commit a crime. The crimes that people commit can range from shoplifting to murder. But what happens when a juvenile commits one of these crimes? First,
let s cover what a juvenile is. According to (http://www.hg.org/juvenile crime law.html), Minors under the age of 18 years, who commit a crime, or otherwise
violate established rules and statutes, are identified as juvenile delinquents, juvenile offenders,

The urinary tract is the drainage system for the human body. Wastes and extra water are removed via a system comprised of two kidneys, two ureters, a bladder

A Pragmatic Philosophy Of Second Language Acquisition
A Pragmatic Philosophy of Second Language Acquisition
Learning a second language is an issue of immense importance in our contemporary world. Knowledge of a second language enhances a person s economic
potential in the globalized marketplace. The ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend another language empowers an individual to exchange ideas across
cultural and linguistic barriers. At the center of contemporary second language acquisition is the learning and teaching of English. Due to the legacy of the
British Empire and the rise of the United States as the world s last remaining superpower, English has become the main international mode of communication
in science, technology, business, diplomacy and popular entertainment. While educators and students worldwide may agree that learning English is paramount,
many students and teachers struggle with a pragmatic means to achieve this goal. In this paper, I discuss my pragmatic philosophy of second language
acquisition (SLA) based on existing literature on the topic and my experiences teaching English to second language learners in Asia and in the United States.
Pragmatism
To be a pragmatic language teacher means to be sensible, realistic and practical rather than to base instructional methods solely on theoretical considerations.
Brown (2007) states, Pragmatic constraints on language comprehension and production may be loosely thought of as the effect of context on a string of
linguistic events (p. 232). A pragmatic

Situational Leadership Theory And Organizational Leadership
Situational Leadership Theory and Organizational Leadership
Why are some employees happier and more satisfied with their work environment than others? Why are some teams within the same organization more
productive than others? How can you get subordinates to trust your decisions, readily cooperate with others and follow your lead? The answer to these
questions boils down to one thing; effective leadership. For our purpose, effective leadership can be defined as the art of influencing individuals and groups to
accomplish the goals and objectives of the organization (Plunkett, Allan, and Attner, 2013). Effective leadership has a direct impact on the motivation, or lack
thereof, of employees and how they interact with others within the organization. Followers will also act in ways that reflect their leaders example, whether it is
positive or negative. It is obvious that the leadership culture within our organization is ineffective and employee productivity and morale has slipped to
unacceptable levels. Because of our current situation, the following information is presented to you, as managers and supervisors, as a guide to help you
become a more effective leader. There are many theories on how best to lead and motivate employees, however, for our purposes, we will concentrate our
study and efforts on the situational leadership theories.

The success of these advertisements must be measured. Marketers often conduct surveys and questionnaires to pull information about their products from the
marketplace. Information gathered like this for a specific purpose is known as primary research. Marketers can draw a lot of valuable knowledge from primary
research. Such as images and ideas consumers associate with certain brands, a concept known as brand image. Primary research also evaluates levels consumer
satisfaction. Following a product purchase, the buyer experience either satisfaction with their decision or cognitive dissonance, when one regrets their recent
purchase. This regret often corresponds with the amount of involvement and thought put into a purchase. As a consumer, you most likely think less about
buying a bag of Cheetos versus buying a new IPod. When it comes to Cheetos you know what you re getting, not much variation involved. However, an iPod
offers multiple opportunities for customization and upgrades that the consumer must carefully consider relative to the price they are willing to pay. In this
sense, buying Cheetos requires far less consumer purchase involvement then the purchase of a new iPod. All of these factors contribute to the overall
satisfaction associated with a product. The results of conducted primary research help marketers decipher elements of their advertising strategy that need
tweaking. Essentially, the advertising

The Main Features Of Egyptian And Mesopotamian Civilizations
What advantages does an agriculturally based society have over a hunter/gatherer society? There are several advantages that an agriculturally based society has
over a hunter/gatherer society. An agriculturally based society could have more people in less land because they are creating food from the land, rather than
scavenging off an area. In addition, they could build villages with larger and permanent houses. They could also afford to build permanent structures like wells.
With agriculture, it was also shown that there was a great increase in population. More people working and producing an excess of food allowed for others to
pursue other interests and specializations such as science and metalworking. Overall, agriculturally based societies made it easier to form larger and more
advanced societies. Compare the main features of Egyptian and Mesopotamian civilizations. What did the two civilizations have in common as early
civilizations? What were their main differences in values and organization? To compare Mesopotamian and Egyptian civilizations, one can look at their
organization, academic achievements, and economic styles. In terms of organization, there were many similarities. Both were agriculturally based. In both
societies, the leader held divine status. However, differences arise when comparing their academics. Both societies developed mostly equal science and

When we think of prejudice, we often think of racism. However, racism and prejudice are not interchangeable terms. Through the phrase power plus prejudice,
we have learned that racism, for example, can only be achieved with power. One can only be racist towards someone else if he or she has the power to do so.
Meaning, is this person white or black? If they re white, they have power ergo can be racist. Throughout both Mixed Blood Stew by Jewell Parker Rhodes and
the story The Sneetches by Dr. Seuss, the concept of power plus prejudice is portrayed. The story of The Sneetches offers an accurate portrayal of society
today. In the story, we are told that there are creatures living on an island called sneetches. Some are born with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since Dr. Seuss uses strong words throughout the story, we can assume that the sneetches were either privileged or not privileged and that there were truly only
two options within their society. However, at the end, when he uses positive word choice, we can assume that the sneetches living as a whole society was the
correct choice from the start. In the story Mixed Blood Stew, we are given examples of miscegenation and how members of society with mixed race
backgrounds are victims of prejudice. Similarly to the sneetches without stars on their stomachs, mixed race members of society are often looked at as lesser
and not worthy of our time. However, we now understand that no matter what background someone might have, we should always give them a chance without
judgement. In Mixed Blood Stew, many cultural references are made elaborating on this point. The one that sticks out to me the most is the reference to Lucy,
the oldest fossil found that shows human characteristics. The author writes, Wasn t Lucy their mother too? (Rhodes) This reference is meant to enforce the
message that all humans come from similar fossils and should be considered equal. The entirety of Mixed Blood Stew highlights the importance of recognizing
that all humans are equal regardless of racial background. In both stories, there is a similar issue present. Generally speaking, this issue is targeting a

The Real Housewives Of Atlanta
Television has been one the most influential pieces of technology as a source for entertainment. During the earliest days of Televisions introduction into
society, there were always shows highlighting the portrayals of mothers cooking and cleaning their homes for their husbands and children. Although, as time
moved on, television and the shows that were channeled on it took a dramatic turn, leaving the days of drama free entertainment as a vast memory. Today,
however, when a person turns on a television and flips through the vastness of channels on their cable network to eventually a channel like Bravo, the screen
goes on to glisten and proceeds to portraying ritzy socialite women dealing with their everyday lives as housewives . The Real Housewives of Atlanta deals
with the everyday lives of modern day housewives living in Atlanta, Georgia. Upon thought of these women and their family life, the reality series displays to
its viewers, that practically a significant majority of family life involved in a modern day generation is dramatic, full of misconceptions and misrepresentations
of how people are perceived, and that fame is can be a problem for family life. Reality shows have the allure of garnering the interest of millions of people
around the world with the promise of authenticity and representations of actuality. Producers often use the strategy of claiming that that these reality shows are

News Stories That Changed the World
Introduction Rendell, Hart and Hollar have said broadcasting the truth can improve the world, while news that twists or denies realities of our existence can
have momentous consequences. We believe this concept and to demonstrate it we have complied 3 major news stories since the year 2000 that have had a
major impact on our society both nationally and internationally and both for better or for worse. These three examples are not meant to be a collection of the
most historic stories of the past 12 years; but rather to demonstrate the power the media holds. It s no secret that journalism is under attack in a myriad of
ways; particularly the notion that it deserves to exist as a governmental watchdog. Another river has feed into this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was filling with Iraqi detainees, ranging from petty criminals to former intelligence operatives for Saddam Hussein; all jammed into twelve by twelve foot

an ugly black mark on the American Presence in Iraq; a permanent scar on the countries reputation. Pulitzer Winning correspondent Charles J. Hanley, of The
Associated Press was quick to document and disclose the obvious mistreatment arising behind closed doors. It led to a series of pieces, culminating in a
shocking report on November 1, 2003, based on interviews with sex released detainees. However, this story was swept under the rug and no major newspaper

obvious in the events that unfolded in the year 2004. Four months after Hanley s article, the conditions at Abu Ghraib finally became international news after
several photos were aired on CBS 60 Minutes II, showing soldiers taunting naked Iraqi prisoners forced to assume humiliating positions. Two days later, in

The Evil of Human Trafficking
Introduction Human Trafficking is one of the most heinous crimes that operate over transnational boundaries. The act of human trafficking is highlighted as a
criminalized activity according to the article 5 of the Trafficking in Persons Protocol set out by United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime. While Human
Trafficking is generally attributed to the Less Developed Countries. This is because the socio economic dynamics along with weaker law and order situation
provide a strong environment for this activity to take place. That said the developed countries have an equally important role to play in the prevalence of
Human Trafficking. What is Human Trafficking? As implied by the word, and in simple words, human trafficking involves smuggling of human individuals
across Trans national boundaries. However, over the years it has been realized that there are far more other angles to human trafficking beyond mere
smuggling. For this reason, the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime has given a comprehensive definition of human trafficking under the article 3 of its
Trafficking in Persons Protocol. According to the definition given by the United Nations, the act of human trafficking involves, recruiting, transporting,
harboring, transferring or receiving of persons by means of fraud, exploitation, force, coercion, threat, deception, or offering of some kind of unlawful benefits
(Potts, 2003). Generally, human trafficking is done for the purpose of prostitution, slavery or

What Was The Cultural Importance Of Asian Elephants
The cultural event I chose was the cultural importance of elephants to the east. Recently Busch Gardens have had an Asian elephant assimilated in. Elephants

The Mother-Daughter Relationship In Amy Tan s The Violin
Every mother daughter relationship differs, whether it is a happy or terrifyingly, angry relationship. This is shown in Amy Chua s excerpt from The Violin in
the memoir Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mom and Amy Tan s excerpt from Jing Mei Woo: Two Kinds in the novel The Joy Luck Club. Chua writes with a more
calm yet irritable tone, while Tan on the other hand is more aggressive and belligerent. First off, in The Violin , Amy Chua shows an irritable tone in the
relationship with her daughter. Chua stated, ... my presence made her edgy and irritable , which clearly shows that their relationship was not always the most
comfortable to be a part of (Chua 47 48). Chua s daughter, Lulu, felt like she was always being criticized by her mother when playing the violin. ... Show more

The irritable tone in Chua s excerpt could have been recognized as already aggressive in another person s opinion; however, the mother daughter relationship
in Tan s novel seemed much more violent. Aggression was shown when Tan wrote, ... yanked me by the arm and pulled me off the floor. She was frighteningly
strong, half pulling, half carrying me towards the piano... (Tan 141 142). Using great imagery in that line, Tan made it incredibly easy for readers to see in their
minds the amount of anger that was running through the mother s head and the fear of the daughter. When the daughter said, You want me to be something that
I m not! , it was referring to her not wanting to play the piano. (Tan 141 142). Her mother is one of those parents who have a dream in mind for their children
before they are even born instead of supporting the child s own dream. As if it could not get any more bitter, words of hatred were exchanged between one
another such as, ...I wish you weren t my mother, (Tan 141 142). The readers could only imagine the menacing tone in the daughter s voice when this was

ASP.NET Web Forms
At this time there are a good deal of ASP.NET web forms coders out there who admit that they simply don t have an understanding of ASP.NET MVC. In a lot
of ways, I can associate with them. The expressive fraction that talks about ASP.NET MVC speak about it with such fervour that they make it appear like you
d have to be a idiot not to change over. In reality, the selection isn t nearly as straight forward.
ASP.NET web forms aren t going anywhere. These methods have their right place in a web developer s toolbox and it s crucial to discover their strengths and
flaws. In general, the ASP.NET MVC framework has a tendency to give up ease of use (e.g. viewstate, validation, etc.) in order to supply developers stronger
control over the reins. This can be a terrific thing, but only if you take advantage of it. If not it can just as easily be a issue.
With all of this, I have developed a swift metric to establish if ASP.NET MVC is right for you. The way I see it, there are three primary purposes a developer
should select the ASP.NET MVC framework over ASP.NET web forms. If none of these factors are compelling to you, then you need to stick with ASP.NET
web forms:
To Increase Control and Extensibility
As indicated out in the commentary, ASP.NET MVC supplies you much more control and extensibility options than ASP.NET web forms. You get entire
control over the page request lifecycle and the ability to replace out several key items of the framework (e.g. view engine, routing,

Macroeconomics for Business Debt Sustainability
BS1780 Macroeconomics for Business Problem Set 3 Group Assignment February 2016

Assuming that the nominal interest rate, the inflation rate, the real GDP growth and primary deficit remain constant for the next year, we can compute the
projected next year end debt as a percentage of GDP by using the equation: dt+1=dt+i πdt grdt st+1 In this case, dt is the public debt (as % of GDP) of 2011,
which is 88%; i is the government interest rate 7% according to our assumption; π is the inflation rate, which was 2% if it is held constant constant in the next
year; gr is 1%, the real GDP growth; and st+1 is the primary deficit, which is 3%. Therefore: dt+1=88%+7% 2%×88% 1%×88%+3%=96.28% Thus, the

Importance Of Becoming A Law Enforcement Officer
If you currently are or will be considering becoming a law enforcement officer you will hopefully find the following information useful. I will be conveying to
you not only the importance of professional appearance and means you can use to be more efficient at presenting such an appearance. While representing a
state, city or county a less than professional image as an officer is not acceptable. As a public servant an officer s appearance is the public s first impression of
who you are and what you represent or stand for. Not caring about your own appearance as a professional may lead some to assume you do not care about your
job. We will discuss the reasons an officer should take extra pride in their appearance as well as steps to take that will assist in achieving a more professional
appearance. Hopefully you will consider the advice given to you and make yourself a more professional looking officer or officer to be.
My first tip or recommendation to a successful appearance in the law enforcement field is having a clean and fresh pressed uniform with a light starch and a
complimenting bright white undershirt. In order to make this easier on you as an officer rotate uniforms regularly and keep a schedule for having uniforms dry
cleaned. A four uniform rotation should be substantial for a seven day work week. Also, as your uniforms become worn out or old replace them as needed.
Fabrics also tend to fade at different rates and severity. The point to take away here is to

The Ancient Inventions Of The Future
The Ancient inventions of the future Socrates was one of the greatest philosophers of the ancient world. His teachings inspired young philosophers to go and
explore the world. In addition, His Knowledge even influenced boundless minds like Plato, who help make gigantic pushes in geometry. Or Aristotle, who mad
giant leaps in astronomy (also made a theory that the earth was round in about 384 B. C.). therefore, a new era of philosophy was inaugurated and the course of
western civilization was decisively shaped. Modern mathematics, Medicine, and cartography was all modernized during this age of philosophy. Without the
Greeks, present ideals and the way we live our life would not be the same. So it is important that we know what the Greeks invented and their power over our
civilization.
First of all, the use the same form of democracy that we use in America. They decided that a dictator would have too much control and power. So they got a
cabinet of over 500 people for democratic voting. They voted on taxes all the way up to executions. It worked a lot like our jury system, with people randomly
chosen to serve. As it was said by Scott J. Cooper; Demokratia, Greek for power of the people, was born in Athens in the 7th century BC. As the city state s
oligarchy exploited citizens and created economic, political and social problems, Athenians were inspired by the successful, semi democratic model Sparta had

Play And Literacy
The thought of school and play don t generally belong in the same category. Although people don t find play important in a classroom, play is very important
especially in the early childhood setting. In early education classrooms students begin exploring, experimenting and mastering the beginnings of numeracy,
literacy and even science. While children are talking and playing with one and another they are learning those concepts. Oral language and written are spread
throughout classrooms. When talking is not an occurrence in the classroom students are listening to directions, identifying their cubbies, cleaning up and
responding to questions which is all considered play.
In order to meet the academic requirements play does not need to be nonexistent in the classroom. According to research play, high quality play can and does
have a huge advantage on the development of their literacy and language skills. One of the greatest effects on the development of literacy and language is
dramatic play. Being able to have the usage of multiple props and objects, roles and themes as well as being able to create a scenario is one of the best ways to

Mary Oliver Twist Essay
Introduction
Prostitution looms large in the Victorian consciousness. The image of the fallen woman reflects the Victorian upper classes ideas about sexuality, gender and
class. The prostitute is a staple of 19th century fiction. Debate about prostitution is also a reflection of cultural anxiety about urbanization.
Victorian ideas about fallenness create the ideological assumptions behind the creation of the Contagious Diseases Acts. Through the control of sexuality, the
Acts reinforced existing patterns of class and gender domination. They reflected an acceptance of male sexual license. The double standard allowed male
access to fallen women and punished only the women.
Fallenness as Literary Motif

Cultural beliefs about the fallen woman necessitated that she be victim of a sacrificial death. While her death may have seemed shocking to us, there is no
other way that Dickens could have told her story. Nancy is lost beyond redemption and although she had a heart of gold, her fallenness necessitates her death.
To have redeemed her would have justified prostitution, or at least acknowledged the fact that it could be a temporary state, and not the road to ruin and a
horrible and lonely death.
Oliver s mother is also a fallen woman who meets a sacrificial death although her heart is apparently good. Her entire family is also consequently ruined. This
reads as particularly tragic since she was not seduced by a rake, but by someone who intended to marry her. No matter; she also had to be sacrificed to
fallenness, along with her entire family. It is a cautionary tale.
There are two examples of fallenness in Mary Barton. One is Mary Barton herself, who is seduced by dreams of improving her social status via the upper class
Carson. Her lust for wealth leaves her at the mercy of this rake, who has no intention of marrying her anyway.
The true fallen woman is Mary s aunt Esther. She is destined for the street by her love of clothing, finery, and her class aspirations. When John Barton
encounters her on the street again she is the epitome of the streetwalker, bereft of dignity, morality, and the possibility of salvation.

Case Questions
1. How long will it take you to fill a rush order?
Time taken to fill a rush order = MLT = 6 + 2 + 10 + 5 + 2 + 1 = 26 minutes
2. How many orders can you fill in a night, assuming you are open four hours each night?
4 hours per each night = 4 hours * 60 minutes = 240 minutes
Cycle Time = The Duration of the bottleneck = (Setting thermostat and Timer) + (Baking Cookies) = 1 minute + 9 minute = 10 minutes
Maximum no of orders we can fill in a night = (No of minutes per night Duration of First Setup) / Cycle Time + 1 = ((240 26) / 10) + 1 = 22.4 orders ~ 22

For example, is there a bottleneck operation in your production process that you can expand cheaply? What is the effect of adding another oven? How much
would you be willing to pay to rent an additional oven?
Assuming
1 order, only 1 dozen cookie
Second order comes in while person is making first batch
Assuming that we add another oven, the cycle time of the ovens would be 5 minutes. The new bottleneck for the entire process would now be that of mixing
the ingredients and dishing the cookies onto the tray, a process which takes 8 minutes for 1 batch of cookies.
New cycle time = 8 minutes
Maximum no of orders we can fill in a night = (No of minutes per night Duration of First Setup) / Cycle Time + 1 = ((240 26) / 8) + 1 = 27.75 orders ~ 27
orders
Therefore, we would only be willing to pay at the most, (27 22) orders worth of rent, which = 5 * (2.00 + 0.70) = $13.50 per day.

The Impact Of Burlesque And Vaudeville On Stand-Up Comedy
The Impact of Burlesque and Vaudeville on Stand up Comedy
The struggle of the funny performer has remained a symbiosis of drive, jealousy, heartbreak, and triumph existing then as it exists now. Perhaps the only other
constant is comedy s unfailing popularity K. Nesterkoff, 2016 Richard Pryor, arguably one of the greatest stand up comedians of all time, credits his comedic
abilities to many comedians, one being Charlie Chaplin. You may be thinking, how does Charlie Chaplin, the guy who played The Tramp in silent black and
white movies, influence a stand up comedian like Richard Pryor? Well, you may be surprised to know that all American stand up comedians are heavily
impacted by the performances in the late nineteenth century. During the late 1800 s, vaudeville and burlesque dominated performance venues across the
country and developed a new art form that had never been seen before. Although stand up is one of the only true American art forms, we cannot forget to credit
vaudeville and burlesque performers who paved the way for the rise of stand up comedy. Believe it or not, nineteenth century burlesque and vaudeville play a
major role in the evolution of what stand up comedy is today. After all, how can we respect the art form of stand up comedy today without fully understanding

Women had to struggle to be heard on equal terms with their male comrades. Women began to make small protests accusing the men of the Young Lords of
male chauvinism and demanded that the party oppose machismo and explicitly support the liberation of women. It took a long time, but then the women
achieved their task, but they also brought with them that the LGBTQ community, raised its voice and wanted to take a place in the revolution. the Young Lords
realized that the woman is a treasure with a lot power in her hands.
The Puerto Ricans in New York were being submerged in racist repression and a severe economic exploitation. There Puerto Ricans faced filthy and dangerous
tenement housing and a school system that denigrated their language and culture and offered little opportunity for higher education. The Latino population
could not get ahead because of the daily repression to which they are subjected. In the streets they faced an occupying army, the New York City Police
Department, which was openly racist and used violence liberally. Puerto Ricans were good enough to die in the jungle of Vietnam, but were treated like the
Viet Cong on the streets of New York, according to to palante brief history of the Young Lords what the young lord tried to do oster seeing all the events that
were helping to denigrated the latino community they began to clean the streets. Gave

Their Eyes Were Watching God Identity Analysis
What is identity? A normal person would think that it s simply defined as who we are. However, there are many definitions of identity, as it can mean
differently for others. Identity is what makes us unique from one another because there is no one else like us. Since our surroundings, such as the people we
meet and places we go to, possess a role into shaping who we are, we are constantly changing. As we grow up and become curious, we experiences many
things and start to see different sides of ourselves. We start to question our individuality, to the point where we may struggle with whom we really are. Similar
to Janie Crawford in the novel Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston, Janie struggles with identity. Throughout ... Show more content on

There are many different factors that influence our identity, such as our family, relationships, society, etc. Family plays a significant role into shaping our
identity because they can influence our attitudes, beliefs, and values. Some may grow up having the same values as their parents because it s what they are
taught and they retain those values as they enter adulthood. They may be modified along the way, but it s not completely gone. Although family can help
prevent us from committing poor choices through guidance, they can also hinder our ability to accomplish what we desire. In Janie s case, Nanny plays a
significant part into shaping her identity. Since Janie and Nanny had only each other left, Nanny became very protective of Janie. In order for Janie to avoid
experiencing the tragedy both her mother and grandmother went through, which was being raped and forced into a relationship, she wanted the absolute best
for Janie. As a former slave, the grandmother, Nanny, is haunted by the compensatory dream of making her first daughter, and then her granddaughter,
something other than the mule of the world, customary fate of the black woman. (Bloom). However, Nanny s narrow minded

The On The Block Chain
The public ledger is also called the block chain, which is again distributed to users, to independently verify the chain of ownership of every bitcoin amount
which approximately six times per hour, the groups of accepted transactions between users is added to the block chain that in turn publishes it to the nodes.
Doing so allows the software to determine when specific bitcoin amounts have been spent which is necessary, in order to prevent the double spending of
currency which eliminates the need for a central authority, something that can be thought of like a fail safe to prevent fraud. Preventing double spending by
people is necessary for the system to keep the block chain complete, consistent, and unalterable. By making it a necessity ... Show more content on

As the number becomes smaller, the longer the average it would take to find a required nonce, due to the lower probability that a particular value will produce
less than the target. This is further solidified by the act of the bitcoin system of periodically adjusting the difficulty target so that the average time the network
needs to find a nonce is about 10 minutes. By doing this, as computer hardware gets faster by the growth of technology regarding computer hardware over the
years, the protocol will simply adjust its mining target to make mining always last around 10 minutes thus creating an objective regulation which does not give
anyone an advantage, something the current system is consciously lacking with the presence of day trading and the profession of investors in general. This acts
as an additional safeguard against those wishing to create unfair advantages in the trading and production of Bitcoin and acts as almost an antivirus to prevent
corruption due to consistent innovations in the methods to corrupt. The measure, dubbed proof of work, makes any modifications of the block infinitely more
difficult because an attacker would be required to outperform the combined power of the rest of the network which continues adding new blocks to the original
version of this block chain, something that is physically impossible in the current

Assess the View That Appeasement Was the Only Realistic...
Assess the view that appeasement was the only realistic option for British policy towards Germany between 1936 and 1938 The erosion of Neville
Chamberlain s# reputation was brought about quickly as his policy of appeasement failed to prevent WW2. The Cato# collective branded him as a criminal in
the Guilty men #. Churchill# further reinforced this view telling the commons England has been offered a choice between war and shame. She has chosen
shame, and will get war. #. These more orthodox views starkly contrast the reactions of the public and media pre war. Hailed as a hero Most newspapers

The peace ballot is the most valuable source as it is simply so extensive and balances any anomalous results, compared to say, 400 Oxford students. Their
representation is also useful as it the public s opinion just before the Rhineland re occupation. So in this case shows that there was already a majority in favour
for using force, if necessary, even though nothing like the Rhine had happened yet. Between 1936 and 1938 the public s sentiment seemed to change. While
5,000 supporters gathered outside 10 Downing street for Chamberlain, 16,000 were demonstrating at Trafalgar Square, after Munich. The mass media reported
the supporters but not the protesters. This bias which is also shown to journalists such as Norman Ebbut could be the reason why public opinion started to
sway on such a scale, so late. If Chamberlain did have public support, other options to appeasement would have been more realistic. The censorship of Ebbut s
writings and his withdrawl from Berlin, which is reciprocated through the majority of mass media, is an important source as it would mean that Baldwin and
Chamberlain would not have the public support to rearm in the early to mid part of the 30 s. Disproving this, though, Sir Walter Citrine# in 1935 : There is no
alternative left to us now but the applying of sanctions, including the possibility of War .#As he is head of the TUC# it could be argued that he speaks for the

Solidarity And Solidarity
Love and Solidarity Solidarity means a feeling of unity between people who have the same interests, goals, etc. ( Human Solidarity and Love , Web
22/02/2017). In a broader and more inclusive sense, solidarity is when people consider themselves as one family irrespective of national, racial, ethnic,
economic, social and ideological differences; it is when people see themselves as brothers and sisters keepers ( USCCB Catholic Social Teaching , Web
21/02/2017). Mechmann stresses the social nature of the human person thus: It is an inherent characteristic of the human person to be in relation to others;
human beings are not only social in preference and desire, but it is necessary for us to live with others (7). The notion of ... Show more content on

There is a bond and equality between all persons, because all are created in the image of God , and because Jesus founded a new brotherly community (GS 32).
In the same vein, solidarity has a moral sense in that the bond unites all human persons in the basis of common dignity, fundamental equality, and rights. It also
has a sense of protection. Hence, solidarity could be used as a resistance to insensitive government to achieve the required and honourable goal. Social and
distributive justice can be achieved through solidarity. There are then some obvious links between solidarity and practical solutions in society. In solidarity, one
cannot find rest while others find no rest. It is a matter of commitment to the lots of others. The concrete experience is that one must be involved in the lot of
those who are affected. McKenna has a similar view with the above fact when he says, Charity in truth builds community and brings all people together
without imposing barriers (31). The principle of solidarity helps to see the other whether a person, people, or nation not just as some kind of instrument but
also as a neighbour (64). The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops also declared that greater attention must be given to the needs of the poor, the
weak, and the vulnerable in a debate often dominated by more powerful interests ( USCCB Catholic Social Teaching , Web 21/02/2017). The bishops further
emphasise that:

Anti Depressants Research Paper
Depression is the leading cause of emotional and physical problems. So what do people do to treat this disorder? Anti depressants are most commonly used
amongst patients suffering from depression. Second only to antibiotics, anti depressants are the most commonly prescribed class of medication. This is
concerning because patients become dependent on these medications. In many cases, SSRIs can have an opposite effect on patients, resulting in thoughts of
suicide and other physical symptoms. Safer alternative treatments include treating depression through therapy without use of medication. Depression is much
more than just sadness. Some patients describe depression as living in a dark empty space, dealing with the lack of energy, ... Show more content on

The Nemours Foundation believes, Therapy is an important part of treating teen depression. There are three types of therapy commonly used to treat
depression: cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, and psychodynamic therapy. Therapy can also help you work through the root of your
depression, helping you understand why you feel a certain way, what your triggers are for depression, and what you can do to stay healthy. Clay Cockrell, a
New York psychologist treats his clients by going through a process known as the walk talk. Instead of having indoor sessions, Cockrell and his clients have
their counseling sessions outdoor, around the Manhattan area. My therapy sessions are conducted outdoors while walking, and somehow the simple act of
walking while talking out life s issues creates an environment of possibility and change. Another alternative to help improve functionality and build resilience
is to get involved socially and physically. Challenging yourself with a positive mind and being proactive can help overcome suicidal thoughts. Overcome the
temptation. There are many supportive hotlines out there to help depression sufferers; however, it is vitally important that the individual finds a

According to Na Hong Seok, analyst with Good Morning Shinhan Securities, Seoul, In contrast to Wal Mart, the British retailer Tesco is a remarkable case of
succeeding in localizing. 9
Background Note Tesco was founded in 1919 by Jack Cohen (Cohen), who invested his serviceman s gratuity of £30 in a grocery stall. The first private label
product introduced by Cohen was Tesco Tea. The name Tesco was a combination of the initials of the tea supplier TE Stockwell, and the first two letters of
Cohen s name.
Tesco opened its first store in 1929 in Edgware, London. In 1947, Tesco Stores (Holdings) Limited was floated on the Stock Exchange with a share price of 25
pence and the first supermarket10 was opened in 1956 in Maldon, Essex. The first superstore11 was opened in 1968 in Crawley, West Sussex. In the 1960s,
Tesco went on an expansion spree and acquired several store chains. | |
The Retail Price Maintenance (RPM) Act12 in Britain prohibited large retailers from pricing goods below a price agreed upon by the suppliers. To overcome
this obstacle to price reduction, Tesco introduced trading stamps. These were given to customers when they purchased products and could be traded for cash or
other gifts. RPM was abolished in 1964, and from then on, Tesco was able to offer competitively priced products to its customers in a direct manner. The first

Eva Peron Essay
Evita: The Real Life of Eva Peron
Evita: The Real Life of Eva Peron by Nicholas Fraser and Marysa Navarro is a life story of one of the popular political figures in the recent Latin American
history. Eva Peron is among the most controversial women in the modern history and a significant Latin American political figure, has also been portrayed as a
cultural symbol through movies and popular music over the last decades. The biography exposes Eva Peron s real humanity, and it does not only focus on her
achievements but also her failures and eccentricities.

Marysa Navarro and Nicholas Fraser, however, maintain that there is no record of Magaldi performing in Junin in the year 1934.
The Peronist version of Evita s participation in crisis placed her in the traditional Argentine woman s role. Evita was depicted as a supportive and a faithful
wife even in Peron s darkest hour. The opposition s version was that it was Evita who resisted Peron s arrest and led the organizing his release. On the surface,
Evita s role description by the opposition appear to have some positive qualities, they also had negative connotations that were disparaging both to Evita and
her husband. The actions of Evita taking the role assigned to Peron, she emasculates him and reveal her masculinity.
Nicholas Fraser and Maryssa Navarro recognize the negative connotations of Evita s portrayal in the Argentine context. This element alerts the reader to the
meaning of the current Latin fascination with Eva Peron. One the surface Evita seems to be a strong woman who is a role model to others, but Both actors
reveal her real self and attack her character of a woman who leaves her traditions. Until the publication by Fraser and Navarro, Evita had been viewed as an
uneducated, obscure and a vulgar woman who used men to climb the gutter. She is depicted as a scheming woman who manipulated herself into her powerful

Burlington Coat Factory Case Analysis
Burlington Coat Factory, as known as Burlington, is an American discount department stores headquartered in Florence, New Jersey started on 1972. Today,
Burlington is one of the largest off price department retailers in the United States.
Number of Stores As of 2017, there are total 592 stores in 45 states and Puerto Rico. Although Burlington was started in New Jersey, California has the most
stores, which is 65 stores (Burlington Stores, Inc., 2017). And furthermore, 41 out of 65 stores are located in Southern California. Burlington also tries to
expand new stores up to 1000 stores at satisfactory locations as a long term goal.
Brand Image In 1972, Burlington Coat Factory primarily sold coats, but the concept has developed until now. Today, they sell the latest designer clothing,
shoes, accessories, and home furnishings for all family members. They also try to offer current trend, high quality, and discount prices up to 65%
(burlingtoncoatfactory.com, n.d.). Although they offer discount prices and trendy designer merchandises, not many people are shopping at Burlington
compared to other retailers (nrf.com, 2016). One main reason is location and shopping experience. There are only few stores, so it is inconvenient for
customers. Shopping experience at discount store would be not good too. Wal Mart customers were complaining about dirty environment, empty shelves, and
poor customer service (Irwin, 2016). Also, Ross customers were unhappy with unorganized aisles with damaged merchandises (Peterson, 2017). Visual
merchandise and infrastructure are not organized enough since discount stores are selling off price items and outdated fashion items. Therefore, many people
are thinking of Burlington store as an unorganized store that has low quality items. Burlington also received a bad brand image on 2015 because of their wrong
promotion. They had been sued for allegedly misrepresenting the comparison prices and deceived customers to believe they were saving more than actual
value. Thus, many customers couldn t believe Burlington s price and promotion after that issue (Zinck, 2015).
Target Markets According to Burlington s 2017 Annual Report, they are targeting all genders and all ages, but their main customer

  • 2. A Joint Venture Company From the point of view of a general manager in a JVC there are many things to take into account during the day to day management. It is likely to be different from normal organization since employees are formed by people from different countries which have different tradition while at the same time the manager has to face possible divergent requirements from the patent companies. Some issues could happen during the short to long run and may have huge impact on the JVC. Therefore solutions and suggestions will be given in order to minimise the impact they have on the long term survival of the JVC. 2 Employee performance challenges 2.1 Culture differences The creation of a joint venture company (JVC) is to combine forces from two or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2.1.1 Building the team Tuckman (1965) suggested that there are 4 stages of development that a team will go through which are forming, storming, norming and performing. The first stage forming is when people come together to get to know each other and try to avoid conflict at the same time. During this stage there should be no obvious issues for the manager because people are just trying to get to know each other and trying to learn what to do next. On the other hand the situation on the following stages could be more challenging. During the storming stage employee will start to have conflict with each other. These conflicts could be caused by differences in culture and working style in previous company where employee may find hard to adopt. If the problems were not fix properly then it is possible that the team can stay together any longer. The third stage is when team members had overcome all the conflicts and members started to bind together where they will be supportive and respect each other. The general manager should be alerted at all times even at this stage because may be people compromise only due to the fear of losing their job. They will then reluctant to share ideas that might improve the performance because it might just create another possible conflict. 2.1.2 Employee relation Good employee ... • 3. Hades Shall Not Prevail Against It The Church The Church is a very important part of Christianity. It is more than just a building, it is the people that are in the building. It is a place of fellowship and for all to worship God as a family. Without the church, it would be very difficult for Christians to grow in their walk with Christ and have fellowship with other believers on a consistent schedule. The church is so important that God has promised to preserve it. Matthew 16:18 says, on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it (NKJV). The Church began after the death of Christ, it is both the body and the bride of Christ and the purpose of the church is to worship God, teach believers and spread the gospel to the world (Davis). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These three purposes are to worship God, to educate and instruct itself, and to spread the Gospel to the world (Davis). The Bible commands believers to worship God in John 4:24 when it says, God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth (NKJV). God also instructs the church to equip His people for works of service, so that the Body of Christ may be built up, until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God (NIV). This instruction from God is to teach and instruct Christians so that they can be confident in their faith and learn more about God (Davis). Christians are also taught so that they can teach and help other Christians to grow in their faith. The last main purpose of the church is to evangelize the world and share God s word with every person so that all people have the opportunity to accept Christ (Davis). This is known as the Great Commission and it is found in Matthew 28:19 20, Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirt, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you (NIV). The Church would not exist if Christ did not come and die on the cross. It is by His blood that all can be saved and worship God as a church family. • 4. Summary Of Rudyard Kipling s The Great Gatsby Essay They re there, there, there with Earth immortal (Citizens, I give you friendly warning). That the things that truly last when men and times have passed, they are all in Pennsylvania this morning! Rudyard Kipling 1. The Commonwealth They Served The weather was seasonally cold in Pennsylvania s Capitol late in 1914. On Sunday morning, December 27, the temperature was 1 degree Fahrenheit. This reading was the lowest ever registered in the last month of the year during the almost three decade history of the Harrisburg weather station. Nevertheless, the cold did not dim the spirit of the holiday season as the Harrisburg Evening Telegraph newspaper cheerfully proclaimed, Perfect Christmas Makes City Happy. During that week Governor John K. Tener, in the last month of his term, released a legislatively mandated report that made history. The Report of the Economy and Efficiency Commission, for one of the very few times in Pennsylvania s Chronicle, provided the public with a roster of all 5,152 state employees. The release of this document was a key milestone in the Commonwealth s early 20th century effort to improve its personnel management practices. By listing names, this document provides an opportunity to recognize the often unheralded contributions of selected state employees assigned to organizations under the general supervision of the Governor. The register also affords an invaluable chance to appreciate how the offices, bureaus, and divisions make Pennsylvania ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One day he just got back from Japan and give me this comic book called Sailor Moon. To me at the time it was the weirdest thing. I don t know if you know this, but Japanese comic books (also known as manga) are supposed to be read backwards. The become your friend, but the moment you mess up something. Like for example, their birthday or favorite color. They become your worst enemy, and you don t know that they re plotting against you until it s too late. They are like a mean puppy in a sense. Nice and friendly at first, but then the next thing you know you re petting them and they re trying to bite your hand off. I honestly think that people start fights because they re bored and in need of something to talk about. I think people should get more into being productive rather than starting drama just so they can relate to their favorite tv show stars. Like I know this girl named Serena and let me tell you she loves drama. With her it is like new drama is always coming up. It can be quite annoying honestly. I find it rather crazy to me how you always hear people say I don t like drama, but a week later you hear how they ended up starting drama. • 6. Similarities Between The Great Gatsby And Atonement This essay looks at The Great Gatsby written by F.Scott Fitzgerald and Atonement written by Ian McEwan, and their film adaptations, The Great Gatsby directed by Baz Luhrman and Atonement directed by Joe Wright. Many film directors that decide to adapt a novel to a film often change the essence and core message of the original work of the author. According to Paulo Coelho, the reader has a certain perception about the characters, scenes, and details of the novel. But when the reader goes to watch the film adaptation, all these perceptions and views are ruined and the reader often ends up leaving the film feeling disappointed. However, I do not agree that Joe Wright and Baz Luhrman changed the message of the two novels. To a large extent, I was not disappointed by the film adaptations of The Great Gatsby and Atonement. Despite being fiction, media products like this can still influence: our views of the vehicle in question (as the advertiser fervently hopes); the ability of women today to become authoritative, powerful professionals, yet to still have a family (presumably this ad was directed mainly at women who would identify with the surgeon); the basic set up of OR s, the kinds of professionals who participate, how they dress, and what tools they use; and of course, the relative power, knowledge and professional roles of physicians and nurses. The bank teamed up with GRC and entered into a guarantee agreement with the Home Guaranty Corporation (HGC) for the securitization of P5.8 billion worth of housing loans. The guaranty program aimed to liquefy through the asset backed securitization (ABS) ranging from P10,000 to 1.0 M, with a yield of 15% per annum paid quarterly and a term of five years. However, it managed to lower the debt ratio to 60 percent to retain shareholder confidence and ensure the bank s eligibility for a B bond rating. Metamorphosis And Dantes Inferno Comparison In The Metamorphosis you have a man who turns into a bug and in Dante s Inferno you have a man sending people to nine different levels of hell, but someway they relate to each other in many ways. The Metamorphosis and Dante s Inferno have the author developing the story so the characters have sympathy towards each other but the author has no sympathy towards the characters. This is shown in the book when dante says Love led us to one death. Everyone knows that this is not possible but it is showing how neither of them are their own person because they based their lives on one another. When the author did this he showed how much he didn t care. He had no sympathy for those characters at all. Addressing this issue poses a serious challenge for policy makers. How we choose to respond to the threat of global warming is not simply a political issue. It is also an economic issue and an ethical one. Responsible, effective climate change policy requires consideration of a number of complex factors, including weighing the costs of implementing climate change policies against the benefits of more environmentally sustainable practices. Furthermore, this analysis must take place amidst serious gaps in the existing research and technology concerning the developing climatic condition. For these reasons, global ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, even for those who are less motivated by such moralistic calls to action, the fact remains that conservation is as much an economic issue as an ethical one. While economic considerations are a problematic feature of climate change policy, under the proper analysis, they also serve as an important motivator. Economic analysis that weighs all costs and benefits of a particular model must include environmental considerations. That is to say, the potential for short term economic losses caused by conservation in the present, should be measured against the dividends that conservation will pay in the future (Nordhaus, 2007). If the earth is truly our most valuable commodity, then analysis under these conditions should recognize that if a dollar value were placed on environmental sustainability, more often than not it would outweigh any initial monetary loss resultant of the implementation of more sustainable practices. Indeed, if we accept the danger of global warming to be a real and present one, then the question of how to address it must be given serious consideration. Research conducted from as early as the 1950s through the present has afforded us a solid understanding of its causes. • 13. Crime And Juvenile And Adult Crimes In today s criminal justice system in the United States, there is a lot of dispute between what the qualifications are for juvenile and adult crimes. Some believe that the only difference is age. Others say it is the severity of the crime. It s obvious that when adults commit crimes, whether they are a misdemeanor offense or a felony, they pay for it. The confliction comes when a juvenile commits a crime. What exactly determines if they are tried as an adult or a juvenile? Does it vary by state to state? Are there federal laws that govern that debate? There have been cases where children have been tried in a court of law as an adult. So what exactly is the clear cut reason why juveniles are tired sometimes as adults, and other times as juveniles? So what exactly is a crime to begin with? According to dictionary.com, crime is defined as an action or an instance of negligence that is deemed injurious to the public welfare or morals or to the interests of the state and that is legally prohibited. (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/crime?s=t). People of all ages commit a crime. The crimes that people commit can range from shoplifting to murder. But what happens when a juvenile commits one of these crimes? First, let s cover what a juvenile is. A Pragmatic Philosophy Of Second Language Acquisition A Pragmatic Philosophy of Second Language Acquisition Learning a second language is an issue of immense importance in our contemporary world. Knowledge of a second language enhances a person s economic potential in the globalized marketplace. The ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend another language empowers an individual to exchange ideas across cultural and linguistic barriers. At the center of contemporary second language acquisition is the learning and teaching of English. Due to the legacy of the British Empire and the rise of the United States as the world s last remaining superpower, English has become the main international mode of communication in science, technology, business, diplomacy and popular entertainment. While educators and students worldwide may agree that learning English is paramount, many students and teachers struggle with a pragmatic means to achieve this goal. In this paper, I discuss my pragmatic philosophy of second language acquisition (SLA) based on existing literature on the topic and my experiences teaching English to second language learners in Asia and in the United States. Pragmatism To be a pragmatic language teacher means to be sensible, realistic and practical rather than to base instructional methods solely on theoretical considerations. Brown (2007) states, Pragmatic constraints on language comprehension and production may be loosely thought of as the effect of context on a string of linguistic events (p. 232). A pragmatic ... • 16. Situational Leadership Theory And Organizational Leadership Situational Leadership Theory and Organizational Leadership Why are some employees happier and more satisfied with their work environment than others? Why are some teams within the same organization more productive than others? How can you get subordinates to trust your decisions, readily cooperate with others and follow your lead? The answer to these questions boils down to one thing; effective leadership. For our purpose, effective leadership can be defined as the art of influencing individuals and groups to accomplish the goals and objectives of the organization (Plunkett, Allan, and Attner, 2013). Effective leadership has a direct impact on the motivation, or lack thereof, of employees and how they interact with others within the organization. Followers will also act in ways that reflect their leaders example, whether it is positive or negative. It is obvious that the leadership culture within our organization is ineffective and employee productivity and morale has slipped to unacceptable levels. Because of our current situation, the following information is presented to you, as managers and supervisors, as a guide to help you become a more effective leader. There are many theories on how best to lead and motivate employees, however, for our purposes, we will concentrate our study and efforts on the situational leadership theories. Whether you realized it or not the minute you pressed the power button or flipped the cover page you were exposed to some sort of advertisement. Defined as any paid form of communication by an identified sponsor, advertising dominates a huge part of our daily lives. Living in such a consumer driven economy means that we deal with subliminal and up front messages pushing us to buy, buy, buy , countless times throughout our day. Most of these messages are sent by identified sponsors including major corporations like Wal Mart, as well as smaller run businesses. Marketers often conduct surveys and questionnaires to pull information about their products from the marketplace. Information gathered like this for a specific purpose is known as primary research. Marketers can draw a lot of valuable knowledge from primary research. Such as images and ideas consumers associate with certain brands, a concept known as brand image. Primary research also evaluates levels consumer satisfaction. Following a product purchase, the buyer experience either satisfaction with their decision or cognitive dissonance, when one regrets their recent purchase. This regret often corresponds with the amount of involvement and thought put into a purchase. As a consumer, you most likely think less about buying a bag of Cheetos versus buying a new IPod. When it comes to Cheetos you know what you re getting, not much variation involved. However, an iPod offers multiple opportunities for customization and upgrades that the consumer must carefully consider relative to the price they are willing to pay. In this sense, buying Cheetos requires far less consumer purchase involvement then the purchase of a new iPod. All of these factors contribute to the overall satisfaction associated with a product. The results of conducted primary research help marketers decipher elements of their advertising strategy that need tweaking. Essentially, the advertising ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. The Main Features Of Egyptian And Mesopotamian Civilizations What advantages does an agriculturally based society have over a hunter/gatherer society? There are several advantages that an agriculturally based society has over a hunter/gatherer society. An agriculturally based society could have more people in less land because they are creating food from the land, rather than scavenging off an area. In addition, they could build villages with larger and permanent houses. They could also afford to build permanent structures like wells. With agriculture, it was also shown that there was a great increase in population. More people working and producing an excess of food allowed for others to pursue other interests and specializations such as science and metalworking. Overall, agriculturally based societies made it easier to form larger and more advanced societies. Compare the main features of Egyptian and Mesopotamian civilizations. What did the two civilizations have in common as early civilizations? What were their main differences in values and organization? To compare Mesopotamian and Egyptian civilizations, one can look at their organization, academic achievements, and economic styles. In terms of organization, there were many similarities. Both were agriculturally based. In both societies, the leader held divine status. However, differences arise when comparing their academics. • 20. The Sneetches Analysis When we think of prejudice, we often think of racism. However, racism and prejudice are not interchangeable terms. Through the phrase power plus prejudice, we have learned that racism, for example, can only be achieved with power. One can only be racist towards someone else if he or she has the power to do so. Meaning, is this person white or black? If they re white, they have power ergo can be racist. Throughout both Mixed Blood Stew by Jewell Parker Rhodes and the story The Sneetches by Dr. Seuss, the concept of power plus prejudice is portrayed. The story of The Sneetches offers an accurate portrayal of society today. In the story, we are told that there are creatures living on an island called sneetches. Some are born with ... Since Dr. Seuss uses strong words throughout the story, we can assume that the sneetches were either privileged or not privileged and that there were truly only two options within their society. However, at the end, when he uses positive word choice, we can assume that the sneetches living as a whole society was the correct choice from the start. In the story Mixed Blood Stew, we are given examples of miscegenation and how members of society with mixed race backgrounds are victims of prejudice. Similarly to the sneetches without stars on their stomachs, mixed race members of society are often looked at as lesser and not worthy of our time. However, we now understand that no matter what background someone might have, we should always give them a chance without judgement. In Mixed Blood Stew, many cultural references are made elaborating on this point. The one that sticks out to me the most is the reference to Lucy, the oldest fossil found that shows human characteristics. The author writes, Wasn t Lucy their mother too? (Rhodes) This reference is meant to enforce the message that all humans come from similar fossils and should be considered equal. The entirety of Mixed Blood Stew highlights the importance of recognizing that all humans are equal regardless of racial background. In both stories, there is a similar issue present. In reality, the selection isn t nearly as straight forward. ASP.NET web forms aren t going anywhere. These methods have their right place in a web developer s toolbox and it s crucial to discover their strengths and flaws. In general, the ASP.NET MVC framework has a tendency to give up ease of use (e.g. viewstate, validation, etc.) in order to supply developers stronger control over the reins. This can be a terrific thing, but only if you take advantage of it. If not it can just as easily be a issue. With all of this, I have developed a swift metric to establish if ASP.NET MVC is right for you. The way I see it, there are three primary purposes a developer should select the ASP.NET MVC framework over ASP.NET web forms. • 37. Mary Oliver Twist Essay Introduction Prostitution looms large in the Victorian consciousness. The image of the fallen woman reflects the Victorian upper classes ideas about sexuality, gender and class. The prostitute is a staple of 19th century fiction. Debate about prostitution is also a reflection of cultural anxiety about urbanization. Victorian ideas about fallenness create the ideological assumptions behind the creation of the Contagious Diseases Acts. Through the control of sexuality, the Acts reinforced existing patterns of class and gender domination. They reflected an acceptance of male sexual license. The double standard allowed male access to fallen women and punished only the women. Fallenness as Literary Motif In Oliver Twist, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cultural beliefs about the fallen woman necessitated that she be victim of a sacrificial death. While her death may have seemed shocking to us, there is no other way that Dickens could have told her story. Nancy is lost beyond redemption and although she had a heart of gold, her fallenness necessitates her death. To have redeemed her would have justified prostitution, or at least acknowledged the fact that it could be a temporary state, and not the road to ruin and a horrible and lonely death. Oliver s mother is also a fallen woman who meets a sacrificial death although her heart is apparently good. Her entire family is also consequently ruined. This reads as particularly tragic since she was not seduced by a rake, but by someone who intended to marry her. No matter; she also had to be sacrificed to fallenness, along with her entire family. It is a cautionary tale. There are two examples of fallenness in Mary Barton. One is Mary Barton herself, who is seduced by dreams of improving her social status via the upper class Carson. Her lust for wealth leaves her at the mercy of this rake, who has no intention of marrying her anyway. The true fallen woman is Mary s aunt Esther. She is destined for the street by her love of clothing, finery, and her class aspirations. When John Barton encounters her on the street again she is the epitome of the streetwalker, bereft of dignity, morality, and the possibility of salvation. Both Oliver Twist an Mary Barton ... Perhaps the only other constant is comedy s unfailing popularity K. Nesterkoff, 2016 Richard Pryor, arguably one of the greatest stand up comedians of all time, credits his comedic abilities to many comedians, one being Charlie Chaplin. You may be thinking, how does Charlie Chaplin, the guy who played The Tramp in silent black and white movies, influence a stand up comedian like Richard Pryor? Well, you may be surprised to know that all American stand up comedians are heavily impacted by the performances in the late nineteenth century. During the late 1800 s, vaudeville and burlesque dominated performance venues across the country and developed a new art form that had never been seen before. Although stand up is one of the only true American art forms, we cannot forget to credit vaudeville and burlesque performers who paved the way for the rise of stand up comedy. Believe it or not, nineteenth century burlesque and vaudeville play a major role in the evolution of what stand up comedy is today. Hence, solidarity could be used as a resistance to insensitive government to achieve the required and honourable goal. Social and distributive justice can be achieved through solidarity. There are then some obvious links between solidarity and practical solutions in society. In solidarity, one cannot find rest while others find no rest. It is a matter of commitment to the lots of others. The concrete experience is that one must be involved in the lot of those who are affected. McKenna has a similar view with the above fact when he says, Charity in truth builds community and brings all people together without imposing barriers (31).
