The And The French Revolution
Casper David Friedrich was a German Romantic artist in the nineteenth century that is most known
for his landscape paintings that display the romantic ideals of individualism, nature, physical and
emotional passion and an interest in the mysteries of the world. Where did these ideals of
Romanticism begin? Taking a look back into the 17th century, there was another intellectual
movement that changed society, culture and politics. The Enlightenment was a time period lasting
throughout the 18th century which brought about the Age of Reason in which politics, philosophy,
and science dominated in Europe. The philosophies of the Enlightenment placed emphasis on
rational and scientific thought and viewed the natural world as one that is governed mathematically
and by scientific laws which could be understood by humankind. The Enlightened philosophies
brought about this drastic change in all aspects of society which influenced the several revolutions
of that time period such as the American and the French revolutions. After the French Revolution,
the concepts of the Old Regime and traditions of the past in Europe were abolished while new
concepts introduced by the Enlightenment were being implemented in all areas of politics, culture
and society. This left Europe in a state of two opposing worlds one that still appreciated the
traditions of the past and one that was ready for new ideas of the future. Out of this chaos is where
the ideology of Romanticismdeveloped and thrived in

Pablo Escobar has won his reputation of being the most dangerous and best drug trafficking man

Pablo Escobar seems that his major desire is being in the power, he seeks to control Colombia

Tea Party Dbq
The Boston Tea party helped repeal tax on tea and made a stand on the British. But was it
necessary? When thinking of the Boston Tea party, tea being dumped into a river or an ocean
comes to mind. But there is so much more than that. The questions that should come to mind are;
was it necessary, who and how it was organized, what effects did it have on the British East India
Company and on the United States.
The British taxed American colonist on many things, including sugar, paper, lead, and paint. But
their biggest mistake was passing the tax on tea. In the year of 1773, the Tea Act was passed. The
Boston Tea Partywas a response to the Tea Act. It was very necessary because everyone drank tea

North American Christian Convention Research Paper
In October 1927, the first ever North American Christian Convention was held in Indianapolis,
Indiana. It was one of many conventions that was held at the time and are held still to this day.
Throughout this time, the North American Christian Convention has grown and developed, but
how did it all begin and how has history shaped it into becoming what it is today? Throughout this
paper I will be discussing the different events and people, that shaped and molded the North
American Christian Convention into what it is today. To understand why the North American
Christian Convention was started we must first take a step back and look at some past events in
history. The early 1800s marks the beginning of the Restoration Movement. In 1804 a man... Show

A year later, the second convention was held in Kansas City, Missouri and the third took place
another year later in Canton, Ohio. In 1930 there was no North American Christian Convention, in
order that everyone would gather together at the International Convention, in washington D.C., to
celebrate the nineteenth centennial of Pentecost. It was year of unity between the two
conventions. The following year the North American Christian Convention was held and there
was division between the two conventions once again. They were so close to the goals of
Campbell s movement, yet they were so far away. In the the following two decades the North
American Christian Convention was held only seven times because of World War II and the
depression. Wartime restrictions made travel difficult and attendance dropped during those years to
1,300. In 1950 the convention became an annual convention and a policy was put into place to
make it truly a national convention by moving it to a different area in the United States each year. I
love how intentional they were with this policy and I think it really holds true to what the Stone
Campbell movement was. They were not keeping to themselves in one area of the county but
instead they went to different areas of the country, to try and get everyone

The Role and Significance of the Monastic Life in Medieval...
The Role and Significance of the Monastic Life in Medieval Christianity
What is monasticism?
The central and original role of the monastic life can be drawn from the meanings of the words
monk and hermit . the word monk comes from the Greek word monaches which means solitary
and hermit from heremites a desert dweller. The early monks and nuns were just that: men and
women who fled the worldliness of urban life and the ethos of a church that was at the time of
Anthony and St. Paul and established institution of the Roman Empire. They fled to the desert to
repent and seek God by prayer, fasting and hard manual labour. In the desert they practiced an
aesthetical lifestyle of great poverty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore to begin with in order to set the monastic life in context I am briefly going to look at
society in the medieval Christianity civilisation.
For many centuries in the medieval west the rule for monks composed by Saint Benedict provided
the standard pattern of monastic observance.
What was the Benedictine rule?
Richly endowed, and sometimes exploited by lay rulers, the great Benedictine abbeys came to hold
a prominent place in the social landscape of Europe as landowning corporations, ecclesiastical
patrons and centres of learning.
we must wrote Benedict in his preface create a scola for the Lord s Service. in the language of the
sixth century the word scola had a military as well as academic sense; it meant a special regiment
of corps d elite.
(Lawrence: :28)
The Benedictine monastery was not a place of quiet retreat or leisure, neither was it a school in the
academic sense; it was a kind of unit in which the recruit was trained and equipped for his spiritual
warfare under an experienced commander the abbot.
The central objective of the Benedictine monasteries was the conquest of spirituality and self will
that made a man receptive to God. In order to achieve this the rule prescribed careful ordered
routine of prayer, works and study which filled the day, varying only according to the liturgical
year and

Missouri S T can also obtain gifts through alumnus employee matching gifts. Under corporate

Emergency Room Fees For Non Emergent Cases
Emergency Room Fees for Non Emergent Cases
Description of Problem
The Emergency Department (ED) is the highest cost environment to receive non emergent care.
The public views the ED as a safety net; more and more people are seeking treatment in the ED for
non urgent problems. This circumstance not only exacerbates overcrowding, it diverts attention
from critically ill or injured patients and can diminish the quality of their treatment. Overcrowding
in the ED is a problem that leads to delays in treatment and poor health outcomes (Hutchinson,
2015). ED overcrowding historically has been a problem seen most often in inner city academic
hospitals, but the issue is now a crisis in both urban and rural settings. Such use of expensive ...

People would receive treatment in non hospital settings such as physician offices, outpatient clinics,
urgent care centers, etc. Individuals continue to delay treatment or to seek care in the ER, both of
which ultimately increase the cost of caring for such individuals. Contrary to the perception that
the uninsured account for a disproportionate amount of the increase in ED use, most of the
increase in visits is due to increased use by insured people, specifically the privately insured
(Center for Studying Health System Change, 2004). A study, conducted in 2006, revealed that over
40% of the payer distribution in the ED were by private insurance (Gooch, 2010). Consequently,
hospital systems suffer financially in part because of millions of dollars in ED bills left unpaid.
To decrease inappropriate ED use, patients who arrive at the ED and do not need emergency care,
and are considered non emergent patients upon initial triage, should be given the option of
seeking treatment in a less costly setting, such as the nearby urgent care center, or paying $150
before they are treated in the ED. Pregnant women, children under five, and persons over the age
of 64 would be excluded from the up front fee policy.

The Beliefs Of The Monster In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Frankenstein s Monster
Three narrators deep, a God complex, and an unpleasant appearance; Frankenstein will withstand
the test of time. Novels and movies alike bounce back and forth between religious conflicts and
God like scenarios; society loves a power struggle that ultimately is overcome by a superior being.
Storytelling has been in circulation for thousands of years; from old Bible stories to grandma
reciting a recipe, people have enjoyed the pleasant sounds of their loved one s imaginations. Today
s culture loves a pretty face; super models and Hollywood actors are what people strive to look like.
Many perspectives of one story, a God complex, and an ugly face will forever keep this novel in
circulation.
Originally, the story flip flops between Victor Frankensteinand his creation speaking on behalf of
their own accounts and partially of each other s. Robert Walton, the man Victor tells his side of
the story too, relays the tale to his sister in the form of letters. Upon Walton s sister receiving
these letters, the original story many have been jumbled up and the true voyages that occurred
may have been lost. The use of many narrators makes it tricky for readers to one hundred percent
comprehend what occurred because everyone tells the same story differently to fit their own
personal needs. A more modern example of many speakers telling the same story is The Girl on
The Train; in Paula Hawkins chilling novel, readers get a sneak peak in the lives of three women

Climate Change There s one issue that will define the contours of this century more dramatically
than any other, and that is the urgent threat of a changing climate. (Barack Obama). Climate
change has been a popular topic of discussion for years now, due to its crucial threat to our
environment. The world will forever be altered if climate changeisn t taken into serious
consideration and not in a good way. Climate change is happening now and immediate action
should be taken to stop it. The damage to our earth cannot always be undone. Climate change has

importantly rising sea levels. Rising sea levels are caused by the melting of ice correspondingly

Essay on Breast Feeding is Best
Argumentative
Breast is Best If one chooses to have a child, shouldn t he or she be obligated to do what is best
for that child? There are many important choices to make for that child, and some may be more
difficult than others. Hospital or home birth? Pampers or Huggies? Crib or family bed? But when
it comes to feeding, the choice is clear. Breast feeding is the best choice that mothers can make for
themselves and their child. Not everyone agrees that breast feeding is the best choice. Some argue
that bottle feeding is democratic and gives other members of the family a chance to feed the baby. I
agree that family members need a chance to experience the thrill of nourishing the new life, but
giving the child a bottle of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This concern is unnecessary because the hind milk, the milk that a baby gets at the end of a
nursing session, is higher in calories than that at the beginning, and tends to make a baby feel full
(Eisenberg, Murkoff, and Hathaway 4). Some women choose not to breast feed because they have
heard the common myth that breast feeding causes jaundice, or excess bilirubin in the skin that
causes a baby to look yellow (Lim 70). This belief is unfounded. Breast feeding is actually the
best thing that you could do for a jaundice baby because colostrum, the rich fluid that comes in
before your milk, actually acts as a laxative to help the baby pass meconium, a baby s first bowel
movement, which is high in bilirubin (Lim 70). There are many reasons to breast feed, but the
most important reasons have to do with the health of you and your child. Did you know that
breast feeding is possibly linked to reducing the risk of breast cancer that occurs before
menopause (Eisenberg, Murkoff, and Hathaway 5) ? Nursing also helps a women recover after
child birth. It is part of a natural cycle and will help your uterus go back to pre pregnancy size.
Besides helping you recover from child birth, breast feeding may keep you from getting pregnant
again right away. Most nursing mothers do not ovulate or menstruate until their babies begin to
take significant supplementation, such as formula or solid foods (Eisenberg, Murkoff, and

Quest For Dignity
Kazuo Ishiguro s protagonist from The Remains of the Day, Mr. Stevens embarks on a quest to
become the dignified butler his father represented. His quest results in his personal life
disappearing into his professional life. In the passage from pages 165 169, Stevens s reflects this
disappearance through his embarrassment caused by the incidental enjoyment he receives from
romancenovels. The passage shows Stevens quest for dignity striping him of any sense of self

intimacy in a natural way, in fact, it causes him some actual embarrassment. Stevens use of the

This romantic connotation coincides with the idea that Stevens desires intimacy; he just can t

he dismisses to keep up the standard his ideology requires. Stevens betrays his ideology by
allowing himself to appear off duty in the presence of Mrs. Kenton. This betrayal along with the
intimacy causes his embarrassment. Ironically, Stevens rejection of Mrs. Kenton reflects his
desire for intimacy through his refusal to give the book to her. He doesn t want her to see the
types of books he reads because the romance genre carries a connotation of intimacy. Therefore,
Stevens doesn t reject Mrs. Kenton out of want; he rejects her out of necessity to keep in line with
his ideology. Stevens rejection furthers the belief that there s no distinction between Stevens the
human and Stevens the butler; his ideology of the dignified butler won t allow

The Museum Of The West Michigan Area
Many different museums surround the West Michigan area and are the storage centers of the
history of our counties, state, and country. When visiting a museum many people take in the sights

I believe one must struggle to stumble across their strength. In order to discover strength, one

Additionally, engineering program curriculum of the 10 universities, mentioned previously, are also

The Russian Revolution widely spread Karl Marx s economic idea of communism. As we know
now, communism has not worked out in history but in the 1900 s it was a very popular idea.
The Russian Revolution had many outcomes that were good and bad. The main positive effects
are that the czarist rule comes to an end and gives workers and peasants the right to interfere in

Russia. Another positive effect was that Lenin made the eight hour working day, which greatly
improved working conditions. On the other hand, there are some negative effects resulting from
the Russian revolution for sure such as the spread of communism around the world that was the
reason for World War II. Another negative effect was that 15 million people die after the
Bolsheviks and anti Bolsheviks sweep Russia. After the revolution, people s freedom was lost

Battle Of The Santa Cruz Islands Research Paper
The Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands was a naval battle between the United States Navy and the
Imperial Japanese Navy. This was one of a hand full of naval battles that happen within visual
range of each other. The first strikes of the battle took place on 26 October 1942. The two fleets
pulled out of range from each other on 27 October 1942. The battle took place in the Pacific
Ocean around the Solomon Islands. This battle was labeled as a Japanese tactical victory, but later
to prove that it was an American strategic victory. Due to the amount of damage and loses that the
Japanese Navy took. It took away from the fleets involvement in the battle for Guadalcanal,

But with the fleets being so close to each other it was hard for them to move about for more
tactical placement. So, with the size of the Japanese fleet and the fact that they got off with the
attack first lead them to sink one of the Allied carriers. But also with the amount of damage the
Japanese fleet took, the Allied forces used that to push harder and win battles against the naval
fleets of Japan. So on the grand scale of things this battle was a Japanese tactical victory, but later
to prove that it was an American strategic victory. So most Naval expert have the argument that
overall battle was a win for the Allied fleet, due to the heavy loss of aircraft from the Japanese

Effectiveness of the Tory and Whig Arguments Prior to the...
Effectiveness of the Tory and Whig Arguments Prior to the American Revolution In the eighteenth
century, the American Revolution played a vital role in determining the future of the American
colonies. Prior to the Revolution, propagandas from both the Tories and Whigs influenced the
choices that Americans make. Both sides exchanged attacks and accusations in their publications,
while also presenting realistic evidence and logical reasoning to back their doctrine and arguments.
Two of the many documents preceding the Revolution are especially interesting in terms of their
structure of presentation. Letters of a Westchester Farmer, composed by Reverend Samuel Seabury,
offers arguments favouring... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He then provides logical reasons for his claims throughout the document, focusing on the issue of
those agreements. This structure is extremely effective, given that the arguments are sequential and
connected. Likewise, Common Sense has a similar structure that also creates a comparatively same
degree of effectiveness. The document first proposes its doctrine, ...as much hath been said of the
advantages of reconciliation, which, like an agreeable dream, hath passed away..., [3] and then
answers each of the charges the Tories make. Unlike the structure of the earlier document, Common
Sense poses a question or an accusation from the Tories, and rebuts it with the Whigs doctrine and
Paine s reasoning. The structure of this document is more effective in terms of impact. As in the
earlier document, the reverend does not counter Whigs view, but only express his opinions about
them. Contrary, this document offers a scope of the Tories point, and persuades the Americans that
the Whigs view is more logical by comparing the two sides. In short, Common Sense is more
effective than the Letters of a Westchester Farmer in terms of structure, due to its more
comprehensive reasoning behind the doctrines. Besides the structure, the validity

How I Learned At University Of Miami
Summarizing Your Semester
While I was attending one of my classes, the professor asked us a surprising question regarding
our purpose for studying at University of Miami. The question was whether our goal is to claim
the Bachelor degree or expanding our knowledge about the major we re studying? I was completely
shocked by the question because I have never thought about studying engineering in this
perspective. All I wanted was to get the Bachelor degree in order to secure my future. I kept
thinking about this question for almost a week, until I realized that a person can gain more than
just a degree during his college time. Therefore, in this paper I will discuss three main aspects that
I learned in this semester which are: being a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, as an Engineering student who must be capable of drawing I was afraid of not
being able to draw structures, either by hand or by using the AutoCAD program. However, I m
now confident in my drawing skills due to this class. In fact, I m not only glad that I can
perform drawings now, but also I m enjoying the time I spend in doing these drawings.
Engineering drawings have also taught me how to imagine the structure of any object I see.
Furthermore, I find the second program which is C++ to be described beyond the word
entertaining . C++ is a high level language that is used for making codes in the computer. I have
never imagined that I will be capable of creating a program that is considered a puzzle game,
where you have a loop that will continue until you get the correct answer and then it shows you a
specific message that says for example Winner! . There are more complicated questions and tricks
that require a lot of thinking and concentrating. These types of materials are certainly going to
expand our thoughts to be creative and successful engineers.
Engaging with students from different cultures in groups is a huge step that I made during this
semester. Working in groups helped me develop my thoughts to create the best ideas. For instance,
we had two projects this semester that were worth 25% of our total grade in Introduction to
Engineering. The professor gave us

Feminist Perspective In Macbeth
Macbeth is a tragedy by Shakespeare which dramatises the theoretical feud between masculinity and
femininity whilst exploring the extent in which morality is pushed to gain power. Imbedded in the
storyline of the play is an unconventional expression of gender which can be further explored
through the feminist critical perspective lens. The feminist critical perspective challenges the
common viewpoint by re evaluating texts and highlighting patriarchal ideas of gender. Therefore the
play can be interpreted in way that seeks further insight on the differences between the portrayal of
men and women, self ambition, power abuse and common stereotypes that are depicted through the
motives of the complex characters.
The play provides a substantial amount of violent and disturbing imagery with a distorted view of
masculinity and femininity. The characters in Macbeth are depicted as hostile to the embodiment of
what it means to be a woman whilst admiring the strength and power of a man. When Macbeth
exclaims For thy undaunted mettle should compose nothing but males, (Act 1 Sc7) wishing only
male children as he believes them to be superior and able to continue his bloodline. It is seen in
Lady Macbeth s actions as well as words which presents the idea that she has an unhealthy focus on
the world of men, something she is seen to value upon all other things. Furthermore, Lady Macbeth
serves as a figure that challenges the line between masculinity and femininity when necessary. Her

The Circular Ruins And Miles Davis s Kind Of Blue
The products of one s emotions, skill, and craftsmanship can take many different forms: art,
music, and even in some cases, people. Jorge Luis Borges in The Circular Ruins describes a man
painstakingly working to create a Dream Man just to find out that he is one himself. He, a
manifestation of someone else s efforts has the autonomy to inspire, or rather be inspired, to
create a new dream man. In Miles Davis s Kind of Blue, the work being created is spontaneous
and without exception, the first complete performance of each was a take (Evans). Improvisation
that can never allow for the same performance again is caught on five tracks frozen in time. Yet, it
too can inspire others to make new works of art, just as the dream man was able... Show more

Borges is describing the power of imagination and dreams in his story. He is stating that dreams
can come true if you focus and work hard enough towards them. This can be seen in the eventual
creation of the dreamed man, despite the sorcerer s struggles and changes of course. He simply
wanted to dream [a man] completely, in painstaking detail, and impose him upon reality (Borges
97) and he did just that. The sorcerer had come to fill his entire soul (Borges 97) and he spent all
of his energy upon completing his task. Borges argues that regardless of what stands in the way,
one can achieve what they put their mind to. In the process, there will be self discovery and it
may or may not be all that they wanted, but discovery will be made. The sorcerer is flooded with
relief, with humiliation, [and] with terror (Borges 100) when he realizes that he is also a
dreamed man. He makes a discovery about himself that is both threatening to his self image, but
also relieving because of his deeper self knowledge. Davis is pushing the envelope of jazz with
Kind of Blue (Urness). It is something that the world has not seen before and, while based in what
is already known, is trying to find what is possible. It encourages the listener to push the
boundaries of their lives and be willing to take risks. Davis put his bandmates in uncomfortable

Narby Research Chapter 5 Summary
Objective: In this chapter Narby researches past findings of intelligence in animals and plants.
Some examples include the self awareness of dolphins and crows creating tools. Narby s definition
of intelligence seems to change to being capable of consciously making decisions.
Subjective: One part of this chapter I was able to associate to was the part about parrots
answering questions. I could relate to this because I remember seeing a parrot identify shapes
once while I was on vacation. Initially it blew my mind, but I later convinced myself it was a
routine, however now it makes sense, parrots are capable of learning.
i)The problem with these definitions of intelligence, is that they can only be applied to humans. So
based off of these definitions, no other species can be intelligent even if they act in such ways that
would require intelligence (43 44) ii) Monod didn t believe there was intelligence in nature. He

Subjective: I am conflicted about this experiment because it s cool and cruel at the same time. I
think it s cool that bees are able to learn to match corresponding images to find food, meaning that
they are able to learn new processes for finding food. However, it is also cruel because Narby

trapping an innocent child in a basement for the flourishing of others seems like a grotesque thing

the best possible outcomes at the expense of the innocent are unjust, and that one has a moral

Classifications Of The Overachievers And Academicly...
School is a melting pot of people. Everyone is different, which means that everyone has different
ways of learning. Although different, there are similarities among students which leads them to fit
into three different classifications. These three classifications are the overachievers, academically
average students, and the underachievers or slackers. Admittedly, these categories are heavily
influenced by media s portrayal of different students but can still be useful when evaluating what
kind of person each studentis. The first classification of the different type of students is the
overachievers. These students are sometimes called goody two shoes or know it alls. These are the
students that are motivated, persistent, dedicated, and responsible. The overachievers are usually
the ones found studying the most. They are also the ones who usually sits in front of the class and
participates the most. They are the first ones to raise their hand to answer a question and since they
usually know the answers to most questions in class, they are the ones that are approached by other
students who are seeking answers themselves. Other students believe that overachievers make those
students that are not overachieving not capable of anything. Overachievers are the students who
are the most prepared, has higher grades in classes, and never really get in trouble. These students
are the ones that everybody has high standards for and is predicted to be the most successful in life.

Multiple Ideas In The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald
While writing The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald had many inspirations that helped him form
what is considered the great American novel. Fitzgerald portrays multiple ideas throughout the
story that closely relate to events in his own life in the early 1900s. He wanted his book to be
different. He wanted to create something greater, with this work. The book is considered to be
written closely to his own experiences, and could have been Nick Carraway or Jay Gatsbyhimself.
When Fitzgerald first wrote Gatsby in the 1920s, it was not an instant sensation. Although all the
copies from the first run of 20,870 sold, many copies from the second run languished in a

some of his profound ideas came from. Ironically Fitzgerald based many different ideas in his
novel, to events that were happening in his own life. Some articles suggest that Fitzgerald based
the plot of Gatsby from two real life murders that he was influenced by. 1922 was also the year of
the Hall Mills murders, a horrific double homicide full of the sort of salacious detail that turns a
tragedy into tabloid fodder (Churchwood). The book Careless People expresses facts of the Hall
Mills murders, and how closely related it was to the secret love between Daisy and Gatsby, and
Tom and Myrtle Wilson. It is described that an adulterous couple, Edward Hall and Eleanor
Mills, who were both married to other people, were found dead side by side on rural property; a
popular spot for couples. It was said Mills was sadistically mutilated (Churchwood). It was also
said that Halls spouse was rather wealthy and used her money to eliminate the case. After all, she

Fryd Statue Of Freedom Summary
Fryd critics issues in public art, as well as an analysis in the historical developments in public art in
America. He interprets the art of the United States Capital as an ideological tool for promotion of
the nineteen century American expansionist polices and displacement of Native Americans from
the land. But also, he explains how the Statue of Freedom, and the bronze statue atop the U.S
Capital dome in Washington, D.C., was altered to accommodate racial politics of antebellum
America. I believe art comes in role in many aspects in history and politics, such as Fryd examines
the objections in both statues. Fyrd analysis how Davis s objection resulted in Crawford s fusion of
three allegories, Liberty, America, and Minerva.
First Fryd knowledges the secretary of war s rejection of the liberty cap. As Fryd states, However,
for this takes on political implications in relationship to the dissension between the North and South
over slavery, which would eventually erupt into civil war. Crawford had intended to include the
liberty cap in his group for the cornice of the Senate door, which originally was to represent
Liberty and Justice (Fryd 107). This became an issue because the cap became a revolutionary ...

Not only did he provide evidence in the art created that was tied back to into history, but
described that symbolization that had racial implication. Fryd expository passage help the
misunderstandment of how the audience viewed the statue simply as an Indian princess, instead
of Davis s own vision of white superiority that he insisted be represented in the U.S. Capitol dome
statue. I found these observations to be very surprising because art comes along way involved in
history. If the detailed evidence in the art Davis wanted and Crawford created was not focused

Jack Mccallum s Basketball Team
The book Dream Team by Jack McCallum is about the 1992 mens Olympic basketball team, that
was sent to sent to Barcelona, Spain. This was the first time NBA players were allowed to
compete in the Olympics. This would soon prove to be a major disadvantage to all other
countries, as the United States demolished every team that was set before them. McCallum
describes this monstrous team and says, the closest any opponent came was a fine Croatia team,
which lost by 32 points in the gold medal final. A description of the games is of course provided
in the book, but McCallum did not simply want to do an account of the games and how dominant
the team is. He took a look at each of the members and how they earned their spot on the team.

The first of these, is the scrimmage that took place on July 22, 1992. The official games had not
yet started, but exhibition games had taken place. Before this, the team had of course conducted
scrimmages. Usefully Daily (the head coach) would divvy up teams by conference (McCallum
212), but today was different. With John Stockton and Clyde Drexler side lined with injuries,
this scrimmage would be unique. The blue team consisted of Mullin, Johnson, Laettner, Barkley
and Robinson while the White team consisted of Pippen, Jordan, Bird, Malone and Ewing. The
unspoken leaders were Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan. Both were dominant players that
had large egos. In 1989 the NBA even considered televising a One on One game between these
two. It never came to fruition, but in the back of their minds, this game was a way to prove who
truly was the better player. The game began with a blue team lead, in fact they racked up 7
points before white even got on the board. As the game got deeper and deeper, so did the
opponents mouths. Magic was known for complaining about fouls and with a scrimmage like
this, the ref was not safe of Johnson s complaints. McCallum says, he would win foul battles
every time while pointedly play through his own fouls and act like a petulant child when one
was called on him. Along with the complaints came trash talk and it was prevalent. It begins very
mild with Johnson yelling, right back at you after matching a 3 pointer Jordan had just made.
Later when the score is blue 19 and white 20, Barkley forces a 1 and 1. Johnson says to Jordan,
We ain t in Chicago Stadium anymore referring to the notion that Jordan got special treatment from
the refs. After continued effort, sweat and mouthing off, Jordan led white to a 40 36 victory.
Jordan describes it as, the most fun I have ever had on a basketball court.

Child Abuse And It s Connection With Social Work
Child Abuse and
It s Connection with Social Work
Amanda Miller
SWK 3301 01
Child Abuse and It s Connection with Social Work Childhood should be carefree, playing in the
sun; not living a nightmare in the darkness of the soul (Pelzer, 1995, p. 166). Various discussions,
studies, and ethical problems are formed around the topic of child abuse. Child abuse, defined by
the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA), is any recent act or failure to act on
the part of a parent or caretaker which results in death, serious physical or emotional harm,
sexual abuse or exploitation ; or an act or failure to act which presents an imminent risk of
serious harm. (Gateway, 2013) This leaves a large area for speculation on whether situations are
covered under this definition. Nonetheless, child abuse is an unfortunate and growing problem in
society today. With several causes such as poverty, parents who do not know any differently, and
behavioral issues. These are all areas that social workers deal with on a day to day basis.
Why child abuse? There are many outlooks involving values that form social work through ethical,
personal, and professional. As far as ethically, social work can become very challenging for the
social worker themselves. This is because of the ethical dilemmas emerge in certain cases when
social workers have to choose between their duties, values, and rights. These arises due to some of
the obligations that are expected of them colliding with

An Experiment on the Synthesis and Characterization of...
Introduction In this experiment, the focus will be the synthesis and characterization of biodiesel
fuel. Biodiesel seems to have become the substitute for fossil fuel. It can also be an alternative for
the petroleum based biodiesel. By having renewable resources such as corn, soybeans, peanuts and
other makes biodiesela viable option. Using these resources wouldn t help alleviate the problems
with fossil fuel in the US. Biodiesel is produced from the transesterification reaction of vegetable
oil. Transesterification is the reversible reaction where one ester is converted into another by
exchanging an ester group with an alcohol in the presence of a base.
Experimental
According to the Laboratory Manual, there are multiple steps. We will need 50mL vegetable oil,
10mL methanol, 0.5mL 9M NaOH, diesel fuel, salt and ice. For preparation of Biodiesel, various
types of oil were available for synthesizing biodiesel. Measure 50mL of biodiesel into a 250mL
beaker. Second, add a clean magnetic stir bar to the oil and the place the beaker on a stirring
hotplate. Adjust the stirring rate so that the solution is being well mixed without splashing and turn
heat on low. Third, while the mixture is heating prepare a solution of methanol and sodium
hydroxide. Measure 10mL of methanol into a small beaker. Add 0.5mL of 9M NaOH to the
methanol. Fourth, heat the mixture to 50C. As soon as the oil reaches 50C, turn off heat, but
continue stirring. Fifth, slowly pour the methanol/NaOH mixture

breathing and stretching routines everyone is feeling better about themselves. Moving the
objects around the room takes up most of the next day. Using the old horn hanging on the wall,
they worked out a game of Sunbeam musical chairs. Moving even the heaviest piece of furniture

Role Of Of The Jain Religion
Shoshana Pollack
April 19 2015
RLST:1620003 Final Paper
The Role of Women in the Jain Religion
The Jain tradition was born in India, a small but powerful religion that grew up alongside
Buddhism and Hinduism. Like the other religions of India, Jainism teaches that when the body
dies, the soul (known to the Jain as a jiva) is reincarnated. Eventually, through living religious lives,
the soul will reach realization, the end of the process of death and rebirth. In his piece
Fundamentals of Jainism, Champat Rai Jain explains that, within the Jain tradition, the path of
salvation consists in Right Belief, Right Knowledge and Right Conduct, called the three Jewels (
Jain, 7.) One must know and understand the Jain tradition, believe what it is saying, and act in
accordance with those beliefs. In order to conduct his or herself properly, a person of the Jain
tradition must follow five vows. The most central statute of the Jain religion is the vow of Ahimsa,
which means non injury. The religion places great emphasis on the 4 other vows as well, Satya
(speaking only the truth) Asteya (taking only what is given,) Brahmacharya (chastity) and
Aparigraha (non possession.) (Kinsey, lecture 3/7.) The Jain religion, while similar in some ways to
Hinduism and Buddhism, is in many ways very unique. The respect that Jainism holds for all life is
entirely it s own. In his writing on Jainism, The Jain Tradition, Vasudha Narayana explains the
importance of the Jain saying Ahimsa

Effects Of Vladimir Lenin On Russia

The Effects of Vladimir Lenin on Russia
Weak and unstable in its revolution and a battle on the Eastern Front, Communism weeded its way
into Russia and changed the lives of millions of people. Under the influence of Lenin and his
principles events such as the Red Terror, overall famine, and slave labor camps became the country
s reality. Russia participation in the war may have been stopped, but the consequences were much
greater. However, this could have never happened without Germany s interference in the February
Revolution of Russia, helping Vladimir Lenin return to Russia with his Marxist ideals and push the
provisional government out of office. The effects Communism had on ... Show more content on

To the Bolsheviks disappointment, the new government kept Russian involvement in The Great
War and the two front war stayed persistent for Germany. With Lenin seeking passage into Russia
and the government showing no intention of letting him, it wasn t until Germany s financial
support that he able to sneak into the country via train.
The effects that Lenin s arrival first had on the Bolsheviks party began with the weakening of the
provisional government, primarily ending Russia s fight in the war. Lenin had been gathering
supporters since the 1890s with those apart of the forces in the war, alongside other supporters,
travelling worldwide and spreading his word of Marxist ideals and a Russia that was no longer
wrapped up in World War One. It wasn t long before he garnered enough manpower to seize control
and caused a great deal of uproar when he had turned the Russian Army against the Russian
provisional government to completely wash Prime Minister Kerensky out. After seizing railroad
stations, telegraph lines, and government offices, and subsequently sending out the people elected
provisional government, Lenin was able to intimidate the elected government out of office and
have control.
But the people were upset, their votes for Kerensky were ignored and it would only be the
beginning for more strife. Once in office, he sought to end the conflict with Germany and achieved
this through the Treaty of

Oakland s Finest; The Black Panthers Shocking the United States with one symbol, the raised

Black Power Movement or be against us by supporting the lying and deceitful government.
Founded in 1966 by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale, they birthed the start to the American
Public having their voice heard on tense issues. The Black Panther s lasting effects on society are
through their actions, philosophy, and modern day views of race. Many groups have stressed the
importance of Black Rights, but none have come as close as The Black Panthers to getting it
recognized. Marching up the concrete stairs to the front of one of the most iconic places of
Californian Government, The Capital, Black Panthers pounced to the top with fully loaded
shotguns and rope to scale to the summit of The Capital. This was a retaliation to a bill that was
proposed that would scale down the rights of the 2nd Amendment of California. Attempting to
combat Panther Patrols, a neighborhood watch that took justice under their jurisdiction, the
government epically failed paying the price for trying to suppress the voice of the people. This
was similarly done with the Civil Rights Movement as police brutality had reached an all time high
against African Americans. Disagreeing with Martin Luther King s view of how to act, the BPP

The Chemistry Of Diffusion Of Osmosis
Diffusion is the random movement of particles, caused by kinetic energy, from an area of higher
concentration to an area of lower concentration. Once the two substances are in equilibrium,
diffusion still occurs. However, the substances stay in equilibrium, as the random movement is
equal across both sides. Osmosisis the diffusion of water, through a selectively permeable
membrane. A selectively permeable membrane is a membrane that allows certain molecules to
pass through itself, and is resistant to other molecules. Osmosis is a very important process by
cells, with uses such as the absorption of water. Many cells are placed in solutions with a similar
solute solvent ratio, to prevent rapid intake or expulsion of water. Osmosis causes a change in
turgor pressure, and in osmotic pressure. Tugor pressure is the pressure exerted on the cytoplasm on
the cellcaused by the intake or expulsion of water. Osmotic pressure is the pressure of the water
If the turgor pressure in a cell is too great, than the cell may explode. If the turgor pressure inside
the cell is too low, the cell will shrivel. Potatoes are vegetables that are grown under the surface of

Investigation For Processing The Potential Crime Scene Essay
Describe your Plan for Processing the Potential Crime/Incident Scene Processing a crime scene
is no easy task. Individuals who are trained to process and analyze these crime scenes cannot just
walk into area of interest and commence handling items and taking items of possible implications
of the situation. This holds true for a digital forensics investigator as well. Digital forensics
investigators are looking for any possible digital evidence within the crime scene, but it s not as
simple as just finding a computer and taking it to the lab. Digital evidence is information stored or
transmitted in binary form that may be relied on in court. It can be found on a computer hard drive,
a mobile phone, a personal digital assistant(PDA), a CD, and a flash card in a digital camera,
among other places (Digital Evidence and Forensics, 2016). Identifying, preparing for the search,
seizing the evidence, documentation, and chain of custody are all critical pieces of ensuring digital
evidence is admissible in court.
How will your team identify potential digital evidence? Our team of forensic analyst and
investigators will safeguard and properly meet all criteria when processing the crime scene. When
our investigators enter the crime scene, our personnel will adopt the mentality of all materials
within the crime scene may hold some sort of evidence which maybe the key to solving the case.

  • 2. The And The French Revolution Casper David Friedrich was a German Romantic artist in the nineteenth century that is most known for his landscape paintings that display the romantic ideals of individualism, nature, physical and emotional passion and an interest in the mysteries of the world. Where did these ideals of Romanticism begin? Taking a look back into the 17th century, there was another intellectual movement that changed society, culture and politics. The Enlightenment was a time period lasting throughout the 18th century which brought about the Age of Reason in which politics, philosophy, and science dominated in Europe. The philosophies of the Enlightenment placed emphasis on rational and scientific thought and viewed the natural world as one that is governed mathematically and by scientific laws which could be understood by humankind. The Enlightened philosophies brought about this drastic change in all aspects of society which influenced the several revolutions of that time period such as the American and the French revolutions. After the French Revolution, the concepts of the Old Regime and traditions of the past in Europe were abolished while new concepts introduced by the Enlightenment were being implemented in all areas of politics, culture and society. This left Europe in a state of two opposing worlds one that still appreciated the traditions of the past and one that was ready for new ideas of the future. Out of this chaos is where the ideology of Romanticismdeveloped and thrived in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When thinking of the Boston Tea party, tea being dumped into a river or an ocean comes to mind. But there is so much more than that. The questions that should come to mind are; was it necessary, who and how it was organized, what effects did it have on the British East India Company and on the United States. The British taxed American colonist on many things, including sugar, paper, lead, and paint. But their biggest mistake was passing the tax on tea. In the year of 1773, the Tea Act was passed. The Boston Tea Partywas a response to the Tea Act. It was very necessary because everyone drank tea even more so than people in Britain. The Boston Tea Party was a stand on the tax. • 5. North American Christian Convention Research Paper In October 1927, the first ever North American Christian Convention was held in Indianapolis, Indiana. It was one of many conventions that was held at the time and are held still to this day. Throughout this time, the North American Christian Convention has grown and developed, but how did it all begin and how has history shaped it into becoming what it is today? Throughout this paper I will be discussing the different events and people, that shaped and molded the North American Christian Convention into what it is today. To understand why the North American Christian Convention was started we must first take a step back and look at some past events in history. The early 1800s marks the beginning of the Restoration Movement. In 1804 a man... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A year later, the second convention was held in Kansas City, Missouri and the third took place another year later in Canton, Ohio. In 1930 there was no North American Christian Convention, in order that everyone would gather together at the International Convention, in washington D.C., to celebrate the nineteenth centennial of Pentecost. It was year of unity between the two conventions. The following year the North American Christian Convention was held and there was division between the two conventions once again. They were so close to the goals of Campbell s movement, yet they were so far away. In the the following two decades the North American Christian Convention was held only seven times because of World War II and the depression. Wartime restrictions made travel difficult and attendance dropped during those years to 1,300. In 1950 the convention became an annual convention and a policy was put into place to make it truly a national convention by moving it to a different area in the United States each year. I love how intentional they were with this policy and I think it really holds true to what the Stone Campbell movement was. They were not keeping to themselves in one area of the county but instead they went to different areas of the country, to try and get everyone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Role and Significance of the Monastic Life in Medieval... The Role and Significance of the Monastic Life in Medieval Christianity What is monasticism? The central and original role of the monastic life can be drawn from the meanings of the words monk and hermit . the word monk comes from the Greek word monaches which means solitary and hermit from heremites a desert dweller. The early monks and nuns were just that: men and women who fled the worldliness of urban life and the ethos of a church that was at the time of Anthony and St. Paul and established institution of the Roman Empire. They fled to the desert to repent and seek God by prayer, fasting and hard manual labour. In the desert they practiced an aesthetical lifestyle of great poverty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore to begin with in order to set the monastic life in context I am briefly going to look at society in the medieval Christianity civilisation. For many centuries in the medieval west the rule for monks composed by Saint Benedict provided the standard pattern of monastic observance. What was the Benedictine rule? Richly endowed, and sometimes exploited by lay rulers, the great Benedictine abbeys came to hold a prominent place in the social landscape of Europe as landowning corporations, ecclesiastical patrons and centres of learning. we must wrote Benedict in his preface create a scola for the Lord s Service. in the language of the sixth century the word scola had a military as well as academic sense; it meant a special regiment of corps d elite. (Lawrence: :28) The Benedictine monastery was not a place of quiet retreat or leisure, neither was it a school in the academic sense; it was a kind of unit in which the recruit was trained and equipped for his spiritual warfare under an experienced commander the abbot. The central objective of the Benedictine monasteries was the conquest of spirituality and self will that made a man receptive to God. In order to achieve this the rule prescribed careful ordered routine of prayer, works and study which filled the day, varying only according to the liturgical year and ... Emergency Room Fees For Non Emergent Cases Emergency Room Fees for Non Emergent Cases Description of Problem The Emergency Department (ED) is the highest cost environment to receive non emergent care. The public views the ED as a safety net; more and more people are seeking treatment in the ED for non urgent problems. This circumstance not only exacerbates overcrowding, it diverts attention from critically ill or injured patients and can diminish the quality of their treatment. Overcrowding in the ED is a problem that leads to delays in treatment and poor health outcomes (Hutchinson, 2015). ED overcrowding historically has been a problem seen most often in inner city academic hospitals, but the issue is now a crisis in both urban and rural settings. Such use of expensive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People would receive treatment in non hospital settings such as physician offices, outpatient clinics, urgent care centers, etc. Individuals continue to delay treatment or to seek care in the ER, both of which ultimately increase the cost of caring for such individuals. Contrary to the perception that the uninsured account for a disproportionate amount of the increase in ED use, most of the increase in visits is due to increased use by insured people, specifically the privately insured (Center for Studying Health System Change, 2004). A study, conducted in 2006, revealed that over 40% of the payer distribution in the ED were by private insurance (Gooch, 2010). Consequently, hospital systems suffer financially in part because of millions of dollars in ED bills left unpaid. To decrease inappropriate ED use, patients who arrive at the ED and do not need emergency care, and are considered non emergent patients upon initial triage, should be given the option of seeking treatment in a less costly setting, such as the nearby urgent care center, or paying $150 before they are treated in the ED. The Beliefs Of The Monster In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein Frankenstein s Monster Three narrators deep, a God complex, and an unpleasant appearance; Frankenstein will withstand the test of time. Novels and movies alike bounce back and forth between religious conflicts and God like scenarios; society loves a power struggle that ultimately is overcome by a superior being. Storytelling has been in circulation for thousands of years; from old Bible stories to grandma reciting a recipe, people have enjoyed the pleasant sounds of their loved one s imaginations. Today s culture loves a pretty face; super models and Hollywood actors are what people strive to look like. Many perspectives of one story, a God complex, and an ugly face will forever keep this novel in circulation. Originally, the story flip flops between Victor Frankensteinand his creation speaking on behalf of their own accounts and partially of each other s. Robert Walton, the man Victor tells his side of the story too, relays the tale to his sister in the form of letters. Upon Walton s sister receiving these letters, the original story many have been jumbled up and the true voyages that occurred may have been lost. The use of many narrators makes it tricky for readers to one hundred percent comprehend what occurred because everyone tells the same story differently to fit their own personal needs. A more modern example of many speakers telling the same story is The Girl on The Train; in Paula Hawkins chilling novel, readers get a sneak peak in the lives of three women whom ... The Negative Effects Of Climate Change Climate Change There s one issue that will define the contours of this century more dramatically than any other, and that is the urgent threat of a changing climate. The world will forever be altered if climate changeisn t taken into serious consideration and not in a good way. Climate change is happening now and immediate action should be taken to stop it. The damage to our earth cannot always be undone. Climate change has had many negative effects from damaging coral reefs or the increase of wildfires, but most importantly rising sea levels. There are many important choices to make for that child, and some may be more difficult than others. Hospital or home birth? Pampers or Huggies? Crib or family bed? But when it comes to feeding, the choice is clear. Breast feeding is the best choice that mothers can make for themselves and their child. Not everyone agrees that breast feeding is the best choice. This concern is unnecessary because the hind milk, the milk that a baby gets at the end of a nursing session, is higher in calories than that at the beginning, and tends to make a baby feel full (Eisenberg, Murkoff, and Hathaway 4). Some women choose not to breast feed because they have heard the common myth that breast feeding causes jaundice, or excess bilirubin in the skin that causes a baby to look yellow (Lim 70). This belief is unfounded. Breast feeding is actually the best thing that you could do for a jaundice baby because colostrum, the rich fluid that comes in before your milk, actually acts as a laxative to help the baby pass meconium, a baby s first bowel movement, which is high in bilirubin (Lim 70). There are many reasons to breast feed, but the most important reasons have to do with the health of you and your child. Did you know that breast feeding is possibly linked to reducing the risk of breast cancer that occurs before menopause (Eisenberg, Murkoff, and Hathaway 5) ? Nursing also helps a women recover after child birth. It is part of a natural cycle and will help your uterus go back to pre pregnancy size. His quest results in his personal life disappearing into his professional life. Stevens reaction, concludes that he doesn t handle intimacy in a natural way, in fact, it causes him some actual embarrassment. Stevens use of the word still (Ishiguro 167) to describe the atmosphere around him and Kenton connotes romance. This romantic connotation coincides with the idea that Stevens desires intimacy; he just can t justify to his ideology. Therefore, Stevens reads these romance novels to deal with the feelings he dismisses to keep up the standard his ideology requires. Stevens betrays his ideology by allowing himself to appear off duty in the presence of Mrs. Kenton. This betrayal along with the intimacy causes his embarrassment. Ironically, Stevens rejection of Mrs. Kenton reflects his desire for intimacy through his refusal to give the book to her. He doesn t want her to see the types of books he reads because the romance genre carries a connotation of intimacy. Therefore, Stevens doesn t reject Mrs. Kenton out of want; he rejects her out of necessity to keep in line with his ideology. When visiting a museum many people take in the sights and displays but never understand the work behind the scenes that when into providing the great historic exhibits. Many of museums are free admission or a slight admission fee but that small amount of profit is barely enough to keep the lights on. In order to discover strength, one must fail, and overcome that failure to discover their strength. Strength is something that I have valued and built within my lifetime. Encouraging us to obtain jobs, paying for necessities, making our own mistakes and developing our own problem solving skills was essential in their parenting. Effectiveness of the Tory and Whig Arguments Prior to the American Revolution In the eighteenth century, the American Revolution played a vital role in determining the future of the American colonies. Prior to the Revolution, propagandas from both the Tories and Whigs influenced the choices that Americans make. Both sides exchanged attacks and accusations in their publications, while also presenting realistic evidence and logical reasoning to back their doctrine and arguments. Unlike the structure of the earlier document, Common Sense poses a question or an accusation from the Tories, and rebuts it with the Whigs doctrine and Paine s reasoning. The structure of this document is more effective in terms of impact. As in the earlier document, the reverend does not counter Whigs view, but only express his opinions about them. Contrary, this document offers a scope of the Tories point, and persuades the Americans that the Whigs view is more logical by comparing the two sides. • 29. Feminist Perspective In Macbeth Macbeth is a tragedy by Shakespeare which dramatises the theoretical feud between masculinity and femininity whilst exploring the extent in which morality is pushed to gain power. Imbedded in the storyline of the play is an unconventional expression of gender which can be further explored through the feminist critical perspective lens. The feminist critical perspective challenges the common viewpoint by re evaluating texts and highlighting patriarchal ideas of gender. Therefore the play can be interpreted in way that seeks further insight on the differences between the portrayal of men and women, self ambition, power abuse and common stereotypes that are depicted through the motives of the complex characters. The play provides a substantial amount of violent and disturbing imagery with a distorted view of masculinity and femininity. The characters in Macbeth are depicted as hostile to the embodiment of what it means to be a woman whilst admiring the strength and power of a man. When Macbeth exclaims For thy undaunted mettle should compose nothing but males, (Act 1 Sc7) wishing only male children as he believes them to be superior and able to continue his bloodline. Although different, there are similarities among students which leads them to fit into three different classifications. These three classifications are the overachievers, academically average students, and the underachievers or slackers. Admittedly, these categories are heavily influenced by media s portrayal of different students but can still be useful when evaluating what kind of person each studentis. The first classification of the different type of students is the overachievers. These students are sometimes called goody two shoes or know it alls. These are the students that are motivated, persistent, dedicated, and responsible. The overachievers are usually the ones found studying the most. They are also the ones who usually sits in front of the class and participates the most. They are the first ones to raise their hand to answer a question and since they usually know the answers to most questions in class, they are the ones that are approached by other students who are seeking answers themselves. Other students believe that overachievers make those students that are not overachieving not capable of anything. Fitzgerald portrays multiple ideas throughout the story that closely relate to events in his own life in the early 1900s. He wanted his book to be different. He wanted to create something greater, with this work. The book is considered to be written closely to his own experiences, and could have been Nick Carraway or Jay Gatsbyhimself. Child abuse, defined by the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA), is any recent act or failure to act on the part of a parent or caretaker which results in death, serious physical or emotional harm, sexual abuse or exploitation ; or an act or failure to act which presents an imminent risk of serious harm. With several causes such as poverty, parents who do not know any differently, and behavioral issues. These are all areas that social workers deal with on a day to day basis. Why child abuse? There are many outlooks involving values that form social work through ethical, personal, and professional. Role Of Of The Jain Religion Shoshana Pollack April 19 2015 RLST:1620003 Final Paper The Role of Women in the Jain Religion The Jain tradition was born in India, a small but powerful religion that grew up alongside Buddhism and Hinduism. Like the other religions of India, Jainism teaches that when the body dies, the soul (known to the Jain as a jiva) is reincarnated. Eventually, through living religious lives, the soul will reach realization, the end of the process of death and rebirth. In his piece Fundamentals of Jainism, Champat Rai Jain explains that, within the Jain tradition, the path of salvation consists in Right Belief, Right Knowledge and Right Conduct, called the three Jewels ( Jain, 7.) One must know and understand the Jain tradition, believe what it is saying, and act in accordance with those beliefs. In order to conduct his or herself properly, a person of the Jain tradition must follow five vows. The most central statute of the Jain religion is the vow of Ahimsa, which means non injury. The religion places great emphasis on the 4 other vows as well, Satya (speaking only the truth) Asteya (taking only what is given,) Brahmacharya (chastity) and Aparigraha (non possession.) (Kinsey, lecture 3/7.) The Jain religion, while similar in some ways to Hinduism and Buddhism, is in many ways very unique. The respect that Jainism holds for all life is entirely it s own. Once the two substances are in equilibrium, diffusion still occurs. However, the substances stay in equilibrium, as the random movement is equal across both sides. Osmosisis the diffusion of water, through a selectively permeable membrane. A selectively permeable membrane is a membrane that allows certain molecules to pass through itself, and is resistant to other molecules. Osmosis is a very important process by cells, with uses such as the absorption of water.
