The History of Cambridge University
The beautiful city of Cambridge has an enviable reputation as one of the world s greatest
universities as well as being an agreeable place to live and work. The inhabitants enjoy low
unemployment, a cluster of good schools and plenty of green spacious parkland. The river Cam
provides a focal point in the summer with its flotilla of punts gliding around gentle bends
overhung with lush willows. It is a city of two vibrant communities, that despite a chequered
past of friction and confrontation now seem to co exist with ease. Both the students and locals
go about their business, almost independent of each other. Many scholars are completely
unaware of the delights the city has to offer away from the seclusion of their learned places and
locals would be hard pressed to tell you where any university building was apart from King s
College Chapel and maybe the University Library, with its huge soaring tower. Most central
colleges face inward to courtyards hidden behind castle like buildings, giving no clue to the
enclosed delights (that can include a lake with huge fish). Secret and enchanting places only
accessed by gatehouses guarded by porters keepers of the portcullis. Within the city boundaries are
a dense collection of architectural styles ranging from medieval, Jacobean, classical and Victorian.
This city is an architectural historians paradise where examples of one style evolving into another
are abundant. The relationship between the colleges and the university is

Participant observation
How do we really find out about the way of life of a group of people? One way is to join them to
participate in their daily activities amp; observe what they say and do. This research method is
known as participant observation. It was used by John Howard Griffin (1960) a white journalist
who dyed his skin black in order to discover what it was like to live as black man in the southern
states of America in the late 1950 s. It was used by the anthropologist Bronislaw Malinowski who
spent many years studying the Trobriand Islanders of New Guinea. He observed the most intimate

This happened in Judith Okely s (1983) study of traveller gypsies. Entry was a long and difficult
process until she gained the friendship and trust of a family who had recently suffered a tragic
death. The sympathetic and understanding relationship she developed with members of this family
provided entry to rest of the group.
Conducting research
Looking and listening Participant observation involves looking and listening. The general rule is
to go with the flow rather than forcing the pace and influencing peoples behaviour. Since the aim
is to observe people in their normal setting, the research must not disturb that setting. Blending
into the background is usually recommended, though this is not always possible. For example, a
participant observer in a classroom can stand out like a sore thumb. This can result in an artificial
lesson. However, its surprising how soon he or she becomes invisible and taken for granted. In his
study of a secondary school, Walford (1933) found that it took four weeks of observation before
any class misbehaved. However, the situation changed rapidly after this time and Walford was soon
watching mock wrestling and chairs flying around the classroom!
Asking Questions Watching and listening are not always adequate for the researcher s purposes.
Sometimes a participant observer must take a more active role in order to obtain information. This
usually involves asking questions. In such cases, the diving line

Analysis Of Where Are You Going Where Have You Been
Over the course of thousands of years there have been many different writers, while being unique
and talented in their own way. Joyce Carol Oates, the author of Where Are You Going, Where
Have You Been , is no exception. However, while writers may be talented and unique in their own
way, the readers will have their own opinions about the stories. It is rare for a reader to read a story
without having a critical outlook on a few of the stories elements. Where Are You Going, Where
Have You Been is a story that lacks consistency and a connection with the reader due to poor
execution in elements such as mood, pace, and closure.
Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been is a story with a 15 year old girl who is the main
character. The main ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Oats portrays this story in a peculiar manner, especially with the lack of consistency that the mood
is built upon. The beginning of the story is established with a rather heavy hearted nature of the
mother and Connie s relationship. Connie describes her mother and explains that she makes her
want to throw up sometimes , this is following the rude comments that Connie claims her mother
makes, Stop gawking at yourself? Who are you? You think you re so pretty? (Oats) This
beginning mood is then hastily pushed aside when the story begins to become centered upon
Connie and her friends. The mood becomes light, airy, and fun. They are all enjoying the music
that was playing, and they were all having an enjoyable time. They sat at the counter and crossed
their legs at the ankles, their thin shoulders rigid with excitement, and listening to the music that
made everything so good: the music was always in the background, like music at a church service;
it was something to depend upon. (Oats) These quick and uncalled for mood swaps create a
disconnect from the story due to the abrupt nature of it. This issue could have been fixed had Oats
used more concise and fluid transitions. This gives the reader time to understand and adjust to the
different settings and moods.
The pace of Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been is an aspect included in the story that
has a negative impact as well. The story begins at a pace that

Urban Development And Reconstruction Of Cities
Contemporary cities face a dilemma in the modern world today; either they evolve in order to adapt
to the challenges which globalization bring about, or simply refuse to change and stagnate. At
present the global economy is at a fragile and unpredictable state, and for cities to continue to be
competitive they are directing their attention towards their own historical, cultural, social, assets
coupled with their own creative talents and spaces. The production, publication and campaign of
such events as, festivals, exhibitions and championships are important factors of urban
development and reconstruction of cities by way of economic prosperity, media coverage, image
building and tourism. Nevertheless, cities need to weigh in the factors of being an eventful city ,
which include, sustainability, security, the costs, interruptions and other social factors that comes
with this strategic objective. Through time, cities have evolved and transformed themselves, with
that the understanding of what cities are and their roles have also adapted How cities are
envisioned has effects. Urban designers and planners have ideas about how cities should look,
function and be lived, and these are translated into plans and built environments.. (Bridge Watson,
2001:350). During the medevel era, celebrations and events such as saints days or holy days
(where the word holiday is rooted from) and other festival celebrations played a key role in

Critical Analysis Of Iris Marion Young Five Faces Of...
Five Faces of Oppression: Marginalization Iris Marion Young, an American political theorist, is
the author of The Five Faces of Oppression (1990). In this book, Young explicates the unjust
effects of oppression in today s societies. By definition, oppression is described as prolonged
cruel or unjust treatment by a ruling group inflicted on another group. One of the five forms of
oppression is marginalization. This type of oppression may be the most dangerous one because
it socially excludes an individual from the participation of society based on race, religion,
disability, appearance or affiliation with a particular group. I agree with Young s idea of justice,
in which a person should not be treated in an oppressive or demeaning manner, all due to the
current social structure of marginalized individuals roles in society. When people think of
oppression, they think of it as a sort of tyrannical or overbearing rule of a group over another in
order to gain an unjust advantage. And while there is no doubt about it that it is true, there is
another underlying meaning behind it. In today s usage, oppression can also be the systematic
limitations that a social group may experience. Although they might not seem like a big deal, it is
heavily prevalent in many different settings and environments without it being the intention of a
government. In The Five Face of Oppression, Young describes the new left oppression as the vast
and deep injustices some groups suffer as a

Setting Of The Red Pony
The classic novel, The Red Pony, is written by John Steinbeck. This novel is of the historical fiction
genre. This means that the exact things in the novel did not happen and the characters are not real.
Although the characters are not real, the types of things happening in the novel did occur in the
time period the book was written. The Red Ponywas first published in the year 1932.
Setting
The novel, The Red Pony, takes place mainly on a ranch in Salinas California. It is very near the
Gabilan Mountains, a mountain range in Monterey County. The novel takes place during the great
depression. This was somewhere between the years 1929 and 1939. In the ranch that the novel
takes place, it contains a series of rainy, cloudy, and sunny days. All of these different climates
play a key role in the novel. On the ranch, it has a chicken coop, a barn, a house, a bunkhouse, and
a lot of extra land. All of the things mentioned have great meaning to the story. The rainy weather
results in the main character, Jody, to lose his first horse, Gabilan. When the rain occurred, Gabilan
got very sick from being outside in the very wet, cold, and scary environment. If the rain did not
occur, the horse would not have died. The death of Gabilan plays a very important piece in the
novel. Without this happening, the novel would be completely different.
Characters
Two of the main characters in the novel, The Red Pony, are Jody Tiflin and Billy Buck. Jody Tiflin
is a ten year old boy who is the

Chris And Chase Compare And Contrast
Most siblings have a lot in common. Like the same interest. However, both of my sons Chris and
Chase are very different from each other. Although they are often mistaken for twins by strangers
and distant relatives. As their parent, I realize that they have very different eating habits,
personalities and hobbies. I often wonder how they turned out so different. Their appearance is
one of the only things they have in common. Chris and Chase have many similarities. Most of
their features pulled from their father s genes. None of mine are present! Both of my boys are
very tall for their ages, and have the very same height of 4ft. and weight of 60 pounds.
Furthermore, they both have sandy brown, curly hair, hazel eyes, really light skinned, and
freckles from head to toe. Their round shaped face and peanuts heads are identical. Easy for me,
and less expensive because they also wear the same size clothing. I often dress the same colors and
outfits, so it makes it hard for strangers and distant relatives to tell them apart. Moreover their

inconsiderate of Chase. In contrary, Chase has a really big heart and always give in to Chris
very easily. As far as school, daycare and interacting with other kids. Chris is the very social,
curious and outgoing. His teacher thinks this is a two way street, because he ask a lot of
questions and always eager to learn. Along with disrupting class, talking play and being the class

The Discrimination Of Female Applicants
To behave and treat servicewomen with respect and entitlement and those who recruit to display no
discrimination to female applicants. We have to approach the recruitment steps since discrimination
can easily begin here. Secondly, we have to implement a no tolerance policy concerning rape and
discrimination in the United StatesMilitaryand to hold all those accountable who don t follow the
new regulations. There should be no exceptions to these rules; an illustration to this declaration is
when kin intervention occurs. Those who have a political or financial platform tend to use their
positions to exclude their family members from undergoing certain circumstances. It is hard to
escape the suspicion that Bush got an easy ride through the guard.
At the time he did his years in uniform, his father was a prominent Texas congressman, a fact not
lost on his commanding officers, who seemed, in the latter years of his service, disinclined to
demand regular attendance. I d have to have been an idiot not to know about [Bush s parentage],
says Lieutenant Colonel Albert Lloyd Jr, a retired personnel officer whose signature is on
documents released by the White House this week apparently confirming Bush s service.
Bush is sworn into the National Guard and there is his father, Congressman Bush, standing beside
him. It was a good chance for unit publicity (Goldenberg).
Reporting rape is currently not anonymous, there has to be a secure, safe, unbiased and

Genetic Modification In The Film Gattaca
The 1997 film Gattaca, explores the future genetic manipulation of genes, to create the perfect
human . Gattaca was directed by Andrew Niccol. Niccol tried to capture the not too distant future
setting to present his perception of the future. Genetic modification is somewhat of a hot topic
around the U.S. today, leaving several people in question. Will this cause an even greater social
class divide amongst societies? Is this an opportunity that will be offered to anyone? What is the
purpose of creating a perfect human? All questions aside one cannot deny the leaps and bounds that
have been made in technology thus far. This is taking us, as humans, to new heights. Gattaca raises
the question of whether genetic modification is ethnically moral, but also offers a great prediction

The Impact Of Old-Time Radio Era On American Culture
There have been many different aspects that have come out of the old time radio era that have
impacted our culture today. It was not just the news that people learned about it was also
entertainment. Usually, in a time when there was nothing to be happy about. In order for us to
understand the difference that these people made in the lives of others. It needs to be
understood why they were created and where they came from. Also, it was not just about the
actors, it was the story lines and the dramas that helped people escape and either enjoy a good
thriller or comedy show. A radio drama is a dramatized performance, broadcasted on the radio or it
was published on audio media for instance a tape or CD. These tapes became very popular during...

While this is usually not necessarily a lousy concept, the fiasco on October 31st, 1938 between
8 and 9 PM said a different story. The WABC radio broadcast network decided to air an episode
of, The Mercury Theatre on the Air . Directed by Orson Welles the group performed their
adaption of, The war of the Worlds , written by Howard Koch s. The actors in the group did such
a marvelous job that people listening in actually believed that they were listening to a live news

Mrs Mallard Character Analysis
The character Mrs. Mallard from Kate Chopin s The Story of an Hour can be considered both
sympathetic and unsympathetic for various reasons. She could be seen as a sympathetic
character because of the times Mrs. Mallard s character came from. On the other hand, she could
be seen as unsympathetic for how her character is very self centered. We see this in how she is
constantly rationalizing with herself that her feelings of joy at her husband s death were well
founded. There are also several other variables that must be taken into consideration when deciding
if Mrs. Mallard is a sympathetic character, or not.
One might sympathize with Mrs. Mallard when they consider the times her character would have

Mallard being a bad husband, the author makes no implications to such a thing. In fact, we are told
that he had never looked save with love upon her, (CITE) which would imply she had no real ill
feelings toward Mr. Mallard. That is, she had no real grounds for her negativity towards him.
She even tried to appeal to her own emotions by pointing this reasoning out to herself, but in the
end, she put up a poor defense of how she deserved to feel elated over her husband s death. What
could love, the unsolved mystery, count for in the face of this possession of self assertion...
(CITE) Mrs. Mallard allowed her selfish emotions to take over, her fancy was running riot along
those days ahead of her. (CITE) This possibly even ruined a good thing between her and her
husband. Then again, the love in the relationship seemed very one sided as Mrs. Mallard admitted
that her love for her husband was not complete. The way she tosses aside a relationship like she
did makes it challenging for one to sympathize with Mrs. Mallard s character.
Whatever side one picks on the character of Mrs. Mallard, it is hard to overlook her tragic
ending. Some might disagree with the doctor s opinion in the end of the story in that she died
from a joy that kills (CITE). It could be quite the opposite, they might say she died in despair at
the idea of her newly found freedom being taken

The Inupiaq people have the same ideology as many other north American tribes when it comes to
the intertwined relationship with nature and the supernatural. As mention in the insight videos, the
Inupiaq think of nature as a living person that has a soul, therefor they treat nature with respect and
try to not harm it. In the insight video they say that they believe in that nature might present itself
as different object and or sometimes an actual person. Moreover, they believe that animals have
magical (supernatural) powers and that they can hear and understand human words, they also
believe that every animal has a human form and you can see it only when the animal wants you to

This was the goal of the video game for people to understand their heritage and learn about their
beliefs. I do believe that the game did a good job of communicating the values mention in the
insight videos because every challenge that Nuna and the fox faced had a moral or reason that they
were facing it in that moment. An example would be when Nuna and the fox forgot to respectthe
little mouse, they had to faced the big mouse and get out of his cave afterwards, the little mouse
comes to them when they are canoeing away and they lift of the mouse out of the water and place
him in their canoe showing that they learned their lesson to respect every animal even a mouse. In
the video, he says that you only use animals for food you don t mess with them and that is a key
element about their way of life. Another example of how the game presented the Inupiaq s values
of having a special relationship with nature other than Nuna s and the fox relationship is by
demonstrating that you can overcome all of the obstacles in the game without harming or killing
any animals or plants (other than manslayer since he represented greed and he killed the fox.)
Throughout their journey Nuna and the fox would run into the owl man who would tell them
stories and why things were happening, this concept is apart of the Inupiaq values of sharing
stories. Therefore, I think that the game did a good job in communicating with the player the Inupiat
s values seen in the insight

Sex Offenders And Sexual Offenders
They can be your next door neighbor, someone down the street, or even a stranger behind you in
line at the shopping center. Sex offenders are out there. They do not wear a label on them that
says, I am a registered sex offender . They are required to register on the sex offender registry list
as well as inform neighbors, put it on job applications, live a certain distance away from any zone
which contain children, and follow several other places they are forbidden to go as part of their
release from prison. However, one thing not stated upon their release is the way they are treated by
everyone in the community when the re enter the world. A sex offenderis the pariah of the
community. They are not welcome and most certainly are the easy target for society to cast
blame when a crime is committed. The community acts the only way they know how, and they
will do anything to protect the ones they love. By having to register as a sex offender, these
people are automatically labeled upon entering a community. No one wants a sex offender
living in their neighborhood where children live and play. It s an uneasy feeling. Yes, they may
have paid the debt to society by going to jail/prison, but the risk of them reoffending is not worth
the risk of anyone s child. No one wants to bet the safety of their children. If a sex offender does
find a place to call home, he still has a lot of hurdles to jump through before being able to live a

Organic Of Organic Food Industry
2.Introduction
Organic foods are foods that are processed without the use of synthetic materials such as pesticides,
antibiotics and chemical fertilizers. National Organic Standards Board defined organic agriculture
as;
An ecological production management system that promotes and enhances biodiversity, biological
cycles and soil biological activity. It is based on minimal use of off farm inputs and on management
practices that restore, maintain and enhance ecological harmony (Organic Trade Association, 2014).
Organic food industry is a heavily regulated industry which complies with organic standards set by
governments and international organizations (Statista, 2014). Inspections of farm fields, record
keeping and periodic testing of soil and water are required to ensure that growers of organic foods
are meeting the standards which have been set by these organizations.
Although organic production reflects similar cost structure with conventional production in terms
of growing, harvesting, transportation and storage; total costs are higher in organic production
due to more labour and management intensive process in order to adapt these strict regulations.
This causes organic foods become more expensive than conventional foods. However, even more
expensive, global demand for organic foods has been growing substantially over the last decades.
There are several different reasons behind this rapid increase in consumer demand for organic
foods. Food safety concerns linked to

Dark Matter and Dark Energy Essay
Dark Matter and Dark Energy
Dark Matter and Dark Energy are important. They can help us know how the universe began. These
two are the mysteries of the universe; they compose about 90% of the universe. They are mysteries
because we believe that they exist but we can t see them or detect them. People question whether
they manifest to be the same thing. Astronomers know very little about their constitution so they
cannot assume they are related. Dark Energy is a mysterious force that drives the expansion of the
universe. Astronomers states that the universe is expanding and the expansion is accelerating, so
the unknown anti gravity force at work is termed dark energy. Dark energy has important

Once the temperature of the Universe dropped below the neutron proton mass difference, neutrons
began decaying into protons. If the early baryon density was low, then it was difficult for a proton
to find a neutron with which to make helium before too many of the neutrons decayed away to
account for the amount of helium we see today. So by measuring the He/H ratio today, they can
calculate the necessary baryon density shortly after the Big Bang, and, consequently, the total
number of baryons today. It turns out that you need about 0.05 M total baryonic matter to account
for the known proportion of light isotopes. So only 1/20 of the total mass of the Universe is
baryonic matter. This is probably the reason why Astronomers claim that Dark mattermust exist to
account for the gravity that holds galaxies together. If the only matter in the universe was matter
we could directly detect, galaxies would not have had enough matter to have ever formed. The
galaxies we observe today would fly apart because they wouldn t have enough matter to create a
strong enough gravity to hold themselves together. Dark matter is also responsible for amplifying
small fluctuations in the Cosmic Microwave Background back in the early universe to create the
large scale structure we observe in the universe today. Astronomers are still in the hunt of the Dark
energy and dark matter but they haven t found none. They are undetectable which makes it

should say. Freud had a lot of theory s which everyone along with myself didn t quite agree with
them all.
Born on the 6th day of may in 1856, a man by the name of Sigmund Freud was not only smart;
unique in his ways as a boy. He wouldn t even sit at the dinner table with his family for supper, that

During the years of 1885 1886 Freud s train of thought changed; he realized that in order for him
to understand hysteria, he would have to study psychology and not neurology. He believed that
the main characteristic of the neurotic person was a lack of normal sex, that s ironic for him to
say because not one time threw out this book did I hear him speak on his own sex life, which
would lead me to think he didn t have children if he hadn t spoken of them.
Freud beliefs of young men between the age of four five in the phallic stage being sexually
interested in their mother and aggression towards the father is by far bizarre and disturbing to me.
It seems that everything that had to do with neurology in somewhat way lead back to some form
of sex or sexuality. In 1892 Freud stopped doing hypnotist practices and changed to free association
in order to increase his understanding of neurosis theory.
This man believed every symbol in ones dream had to do with something of sex, umbrellas were the
symbols of the penis, purse s were the symbols of the vagina. Truly don t understand how he came
to that consumption but never the less he was unique in his own way of thought. In one instance
Freud became upset when he realized that his patents were emotionally attached to him during their
sessions, his first though was that it was an erotic attachment. Even though Freud

The Bureaucracy Of The Business World Of Greece
The bureaucracy found in the business world of Greece makes it even more difficult for innovation
to exist, according to the article: bureaucracy, laws, and rules exert particular influence in Greece
because they help make life more structured and less uncertain. In Greece, acquiring construction
permits, registering property, and enforcing contracts in courts require vast amounts of paperwork
and time. Thus, the rules which are in place to prevent uncertaintyin Greek businesses also inhibits
innovation which is already unlikely to occur because of the avoidance of uncertainty already
prevalent in Greek culture..

It could be argued, however, that American business writers are judging Greece s economy based
on their own ideas of how business is done. They may say that it is merely a coincidence that
Greece is struggling and happens to avoid uncertainty. It would be impossible to say that their
struggles are because of their tendencies to avoid uncertainty, but the weight of the previous
information given in this paper outlines the role uncertainty does play in the American corporate
world.
This is not the only argument to be made, however. The article from the Harvard Business Review
also charted out different country s innovation based on the European Commission Index
alongside their rating of uncertainty avoidance as determined by Hofstede s scale as well as the
level of Bureaucracy as according to the World Bank ranking. The chart demonstrates that, as a
general rule, countries which have a higher uncertainty avoidance also have less innovation and
more bureaucracy. While there are some discrepancies (Belgium has a 94 on uncertainty avoidance,

Communicative Language Teaching
The Goal of Communicative Language Teaching Method: According to Cook (2003), the focus of
Communicative Language Teaching Method is primarily social. Therefore, its main goal is to
enable the learners to communicate successfully in the target language. In order to achieve that
goal, the learners have to be communicatively competent. Communicative competence can be
defined according to Saville and Troike (2003) as What a speaker needs to know to communicate
appropriately within a particular language community . Which means that the learners in
Communicative Language Teachingmethod will not only know the vocabulary, phonology and
grammar, but also they ll know how to use the language for several purposes, how to differentiate
between the uses of the language depending on the situations and the participants and they ll able
to classify and produce different kinds of texts. In addition, able to do all of these effectively with
appropriate, accurate and fluent language (Saville Troike, 2006, p. 100).... Show more content on

The Changes in Police and Crime Drama Over Time Essay
The Changes in Police and Crime Drama Over Time
Crime drama has always been featured as one of the most popular genres of our society. However
over the year s crime drama has been changed and adapted to fit into different times. Many aspects
of crime drama have been changed such as camera shots, seriousness of crimes and police language
/jargon in order for crime drama to change with the times, become more realistic and retain its
former popularity.
Throughout time many crime programmes featured on T.V have changed through Media language

Camera shots and editing have also changed. Older title sequences of the Bill used long camera
shots, which were not varied and were focused on a particular person. However over the years as
technology has improved the title sequences have become faster paced and use shorter and varied
camera shots that create feelings of excitement and tension for the viewer.
Music has also changed. The original title sequence (1984) featured reggae style music and used
off beat instruments. This suggested that the programme was based in a multi cultural area. The
music in the late 80 s was more upbeat and faster paced, however it featured the same theme tune.
The music in the mid 90 s was jazzy and sophisticated. Music has become more upbeat due to
changes of personalities in society. However the theme tune has remained the same in order for
people of different times to identify the programme as a long remaining classic.
The storylines of each title sequence have also changed over time. In the original title sequence
we do not see the police s face. This indicates that the main emphasis of the programme is on the
job of the police rather than their characters. The slow moving music and camera shots convey the
sense that the programme does not feature dangerous crimes but simple crimes such as theft or
burglary. However the late 80 s title sequence shows clips of

Canada Goose: The South Korean Opportunity
Question 1:
The six important factors to consider about South Korea s culture is their values, norms, religion,
education, social mobility, and American influences. South Korea was built up by many core
values, however the most important being Confucianism. Confucianism was founded over 2000
years ago in the fifth century BC and was the official ethical system of China (Hill, Rihcardson,

A poll by the South Korean Anti Corruption and Civil Rights Commission found that 76.8% of
middle and high school students considered South Korea to be corrupt due to nepotism (Irwin,
2010). Corruption can never fully be nonexistent, thus it must be taken into consideration when
starting a business in a foreign country. Furthermore, environmental pollution raises ethical issues
when host nations are more inferior to the home nation (Hill, Richardson, amp; McKaig, 2009).
South Korea had significantly evolved in urbanization since the 1960s, and it is evident that their
environmental standards have evolved as well. The government launched the Green New Deal in
2009 that committed to establishing environmental projects (Irwin, 2010). This aligns with Canada
Goose s corporate standards in environmental ethics. In addition, South Korea had taken on the
initiative to create a code of ethics for almost all major businesses. A great challenge would be to
match with the standards of Korea s code of ethics for Canada Goose. Lastly, corporate
responsibility management is another factor to consider when entering a new market. Most South
Korean businesses are adopting corporate responsibility by focusing more on philanthropy and
community engagement. This correlates with Dani Reiss corporate responsibility as the leader
advocate for Polar Bear International (PBI).

Pursuit Of Power In Macbeth
Seeking power is exhilarating but it can be someone s undoing. The hunt for power can
oftentimes lead to different external and internal consequences, which can also depend on the
person or environment. Shakespeare s Macbeth focuses on a character who eventually becomes
obsessed with the pursuit of power, and trying to control the power that he already has. His power
affects him and everyone around him. This act of trying to collect as much power as possible will
ruin him, ultimately being his downfall. The real life example of Vladimir Putinshowcases that he
and people around him have also suffered the the consequences evident in Macbeth. Many times,
the pursuit of power will lead to psychological impacts such as feeling fear and guilt which can
show on the outside as delusion and insanity.
Macbeth has hallucinations based around guilt and to others he seems delusional and insane. After
he hires the three murderers to kill Banquo and Fleance, they come back unsuccessful, only
managing to kill Banquo. He is haunted by a hallucination of an apparition of (supposedly)
Banquo and says (to GHOST) Thou canst not say I did it. Never shake. Thy gory locks at me.

the ghost, Macbeth responds and another noble is weary of his actions. He kills Banquo because

DonT Sleep There Are Snake Life And Language In The...
Daniel L. Everett s ethnography, Don t Sleep, There Are Snakes Life and Language in the
Amazonian Jungle, writes about experiences and life he faced during the time living among the
Piraha. Everett, is a linguist who s whole mission during his stay with the Piraha s was to not only
learn their language, but to convert them to Christianity. This however never happened, Everett
actually ends up giving up his faith for the name of science and language. His novelis a page turner,
it make the reader to want to keep reading it until the very end. The way Everett writes just draws
people in, the way he chooses his words and the structure of the sentences makes one feels like that
they are with him.
Over the span of three decades, Everett and his family live with the Piraha for a total of seven
years learning their culture and language. What he found their really changed the idea of how we
perceive languages and the different theories behind them. The Pirahas, do not have a counting
systems, or clan system, nor a fixed terms of color or ritual, along with one of the smallest set
phonemes in the world, along with hum and whisper speech. They have no concepts of future or
past ideologies, totally living in the present and are relatively very happy people. One unfavorable
aspect about this novel is that it lacked the life of the women and children within the villages.
Everett only really interacted with the males of this society, whether there was any cultural
boundaries that restricted him from interacting with the woman is unknown, but it was something
that caught my attention while reading.
The novel is spelt up into three parts: Life, Language, and Conclusion. Each one dedicated to a
certain part of the Pirahas culture. Part One: Life was very detailed on what events went on in
the daily lives. These people get very little sleep and Everett mentioned that it is very rare to have
the village totally quiet at night, one is always talking not caring if people next to them are
sleeping. They start their day very early, men would leave and go out hunting, while the women
search of wild fruits and vegetables. The Piraha people would only catch and gather what they
needed for the day. It was also interesting to read that

Jacqueline Kennedy, Jackie Kennedy
What is an ethical leader? There is many definitions for it and there is many of them out there.
One example of an ethical leader is Jacqueline (Jackie) Kennedy, through the way she holds
herself and fights for what she believes in. One definition of an ethical leader is someone that
makes the effort to be a good role model for those around them, and actively tries to make changes
based on their moral values.
Jacqueline Kennedy was born to Jack and Janet Bouvier July 28, 1929, with one younger sibling.
In 1940 her parents got divorced due to her father s constant infidelities. Her mother got remarried
to Hugh Auchincloss, giving Jackie an additional two younger siblings. Being the oldest, she was
given the responsibilities of taking care of them and doing housework.
Jackie was sent to Chapin School for girls in Manhattan where she found interests in art, sculptures,
and horses. In 1944, Jackie attended Miss Porter s School in Farmington, Connecticut, where she
decided that she did not want to be a housewife, as it was too dull and unrewarding. She then
attended Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York. In 1949, she transferred to the University of
Paris, France, where she became fluent in French and gained a deep understanding and appreciation
of the history and literature. Jackie then transferred to Smith College in Massachusetts, and then to

The Prevalence Of Ischemic Heart Disease
The prevalence of ischemic heart disease is increasing in the United States, and around the world.
Sudden cardiac arrest, the primary cause of death related to ischemic heart disease, is now the
leading cause of death worldwide (Weng Sun, 2012). Of the more than 300,000 patients who suffer
sudden cardiac arrestin the United States each year, only 7.9% survive to hospital discharge (Weng
Sun, 2012). Lilja, et al. (2015) report that despite recent improvements in methods of cardiac
resuscitation, severe and often permanent brain injury remains the leading cause of death in
hospitalized patients post resuscitation. Recent research has sought to preserve neurologic function
and improve outcomes post resuscitation through the implementation of therapeutic hypothermia.
Neumar, et al. (2015) provide a 2015 update to The American Heart Association s Guidelines for

The Authors and Their Works
The Authors Their Works
In the words of E.H. Carr in his classic study of historiography, As discussed the backgrounds of
the authors and their works plays a significant role in the writing of their biographies. Everybody
is subjective; we are all to an extent shaped by what is around us.
The selected works mark turning points in the writing of the life of Cook, and each of them is
considered as an important work within the field of Cook studies. They all display certain
characteristics and carry certain discourses that mark them as also being evocative of their
respective time periods. Cook scholars have often tried to prove or disprove certain facts, striven
to edit and correct details or attempted to replicate and summarize the total available information.
All of this is part of a wider discourse, an exploration of which is helpful in interpreting the
backdrop surrounding Captain James Cook.
It seems only logical to start with the very first biography, although several works penned by
Cook s colleagues dealing with his character had appeared before this, most notably that of
Johann Reinhold Forster, naturalist on board the second voyage, in 1778. This first biographical
work, The Life of Captain James Cook, was written by the biographer and Non conformist

appeared 9 years after Cook s death in 1788. Consequently this is the same year as the arrival of

When Adam and Eve sinned, it did not make God happy. So in order to cleanse the earth, He had
Noah gather up two of every animal and make an arc for the animals and Noah s family. God

Courage is a cardinal virtue every human being needs. Courage is doing something frightening
you are for the right being even if you are alone in your belief. Many regular humans have used
courage also. For example Dr. Martin Luther King jr. stood up for all African Americans, even
though almost everyone did not agree with him. He eventually helped end segregation by
raising awareness. Sadly, Dr. Martin Luther King jr. was killed just for his beliefs. Today we
celebrate a holiday for his great bravery. Bravery is a synonym of courage. Almost all saints in their
life have shown courage. One saint that had courage was Saint Francis of Assisi. Saint Francis was
a rich man, however he ignored all his money for God. He gave up his wealthy life just for his
savior. Saint Francis would help sick people just like how Jesusdid. He would approach Lepore s

Rhetorical Analysis Of Patrick Henry
In the Patrick Henry s speech at the Virginia Convention Patrick Henry tries to persuade the
colonist to fight a war against the English, he does this through several main rhetorical strategies,
imagery, emotional appeal, and allusion. Patrick Henry uses imagery to get the listeners attention,
as he relates the to the dumb sailors who would get killed by the sirons cause they would be
caught in their beauty and singing. Patrick Henry uses emotional appeal to get the listeners on his
side, by bringing up slavery because if they do not fight back they can become slaves. Patrick
henry uses allusion so he can get the listeners to fight back, he butters them up and gives them a

they will rapidly end up annihilating more than just themselves. Through the use of seasons, Carver
shows the collapse of the relationship before the story begins.... Show more content on

The couple, instead of speaking to one another about their situation, and how to properly handle
the custody issue, and discuss their feelings; they opt for hurting each other along with their
child. Through dramatic irony, readers learn that neither the man nor the woman gained what
they wanted; showing that the custody battle was hopeless and that they destroyed something
they could never get back whether it be the baby or the relationship. The women s selfish desires
do not necessarily root from vengeance, but from her need of the child. The baby is seen as a
vital source of life for her, she wiped her eyes and stared at him before turning and back to the
living room (328), she is turning away from the relationship with something to hold onto (the
baby). When she picks up the picture, Carver foreshadows the man s willingness to go after the
child, Then she noticed the baby s picture on the bed and picked it up. He looked at her... (328).
The man s selfish desires appear at this moment, already hurt from the ending of the relationship
and the rage filled words uttered by his past lover he sees an opportunity to demolish her to the
same level she did him. With both people aggressively tussling for what they want, they completely
disregard everything in between: the child. She grabbed for the baby s other arm. She caught the
baby around the wrist and leaned back. But he would not

This kind of tape is fundamental for essential releases, for example, on a shower head or a
fixture underneath a sink. This is one of the most straightforward things plumber employments.
Putty is utilized for making seals as a part of territories where holes are available. Plumber s
putty is likewise utilized on breaks as a part of sinks where standing water gradually dissolves
the split, intensifying it after some time. Locking forceps are basic for occupations underneath a
sink, or where a great deal of different things act as a burden, for example, channeling or tubing.
On the off chance that you find that you can t persistently straighten out the torque to continue

Environmental Issues Of Human Rights Violations
At both the international and domestic levels, defining the environmental issues as human rights
violations in legal terms is a complex task. However, in the last decade, petitions and suit cases
against climate change issue were gradually filed. In 2006, the first suit case against the
Environmental Protection Agency was reached to the U.S Supreme Court (Aminzade, 2006). A
petition claimed that climate change through emissions and air pollutants caused harm to public
health and welfare. This case grabbed the attention of multiple environmental agencies; it also
gained support from political and human rightsactivists figures (Aminzade, 2006). Another petition
in 2004 by Inuit claimed that the U.S climate change policy violated the human rights to life, the
right to health, and movement (Goldberg Wagner, 2004). The Inuit petition describes how climate
change is affecting the Arctic environment on which the Inuit depend. It argued that climate change
violates the Inuit rights, including the right to life, health, and property. Based on the petition, the
Inuit s right to life is violated because critical food resources are threatened by climate change, and
unpredicted weather events can cause loss of life (Knox, 2009). The Inuit community also argued
that climate change interferes with their right to health by damaging fish on which they depend on
for nutrients, and by diminishing the quality of their drinking water and increasing the spread of
diseases (Knox, 2009).

  • 2. The History of Cambridge University The beautiful city of Cambridge has an enviable reputation as one of the world s greatest universities as well as being an agreeable place to live and work. The inhabitants enjoy low unemployment, a cluster of good schools and plenty of green spacious parkland. The river Cam provides a focal point in the summer with its flotilla of punts gliding around gentle bends overhung with lush willows. It is a city of two vibrant communities, that despite a chequered past of friction and confrontation now seem to co exist with ease. Both the students and locals go about their business, almost independent of each other. Many scholars are completely unaware of the delights the city has to offer away from the seclusion of their learned places and locals would be hard pressed to tell you where any university building was apart from King s College Chapel and maybe the University Library, with its huge soaring tower. Most central colleges face inward to courtyards hidden behind castle like buildings, giving no clue to the enclosed delights (that can include a lake with huge fish). Secret and enchanting places only accessed by gatehouses guarded by porters keepers of the portcullis. Within the city boundaries are a dense collection of architectural styles ranging from medieval, Jacobean, classical and Victorian. This city is an architectural historians paradise where examples of one style evolving into another are abundant. The relationship between the colleges and the university is ... Participant observation How do we really find out about the way of life of a group of people? One way is to join them to participate in their daily activities amp; observe what they say and do. This research method is known as participant observation. It was used by John Howard Griffin (1960) a white journalist who dyed his skin black in order to discover what it was like to live as black man in the southern states of America in the late 1950 s. It was used by the anthropologist Bronislaw Malinowski who spent many years studying the Trobriand Islanders of New Guinea. He observed the most intimate details of ... Entry was a long and difficult process until she gained the friendship and trust of a family who had recently suffered a tragic death. The sympathetic and understanding relationship she developed with members of this family provided entry to rest of the group. Conducting research Looking and listening Participant observation involves looking and listening. The general rule is to go with the flow rather than forcing the pace and influencing peoples behaviour. Since the aim is to observe people in their normal setting, the research must not disturb that setting. Blending into the background is usually recommended, though this is not always possible. For example, a participant observer in a classroom can stand out like a sore thumb. This can result in an artificial lesson. However, its surprising how soon he or she becomes invisible and taken for granted. In his study of a secondary school, Walford (1933) found that it took four weeks of observation before any class misbehaved. However, the situation changed rapidly after this time and Walford was soon watching mock wrestling and chairs flying around the classroom! • 4. Analysis Of Where Are You Going Where Have You Been Over the course of thousands of years there have been many different writers, while being unique and talented in their own way. Joyce Carol Oates, the author of Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been , is no exception. However, while writers may be talented and unique in their own way, the readers will have their own opinions about the stories. It is rare for a reader to read a story without having a critical outlook on a few of the stories elements. Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been is a story that lacks consistency and a connection with the reader due to poor execution in elements such as mood, pace, and closure. Oats portrays this story in a peculiar manner, especially with the lack of consistency that the mood is built upon. The beginning of the story is established with a rather heavy hearted nature of the mother and Connie s relationship. Connie describes her mother and explains that she makes her want to throw up sometimes , this is following the rude comments that Connie claims her mother makes, Stop gawking at yourself? Who are you? You think you re so pretty? (Oats) This beginning mood is then hastily pushed aside when the story begins to become centered upon Connie and her friends. The mood becomes light, airy, and fun. They are all enjoying the music that was playing, and they were all having an enjoyable time. They sat at the counter and crossed their legs at the ankles, their thin shoulders rigid with excitement, and listening to the music that made everything so good: the music was always in the background, like music at a church service; it was something to depend upon. (Oats) These quick and uncalled for mood swaps create a disconnect from the story due to the abrupt nature of it. This issue could have been fixed had Oats used more concise and fluid transitions. This gives the reader time to understand and adjust to the different settings and moods. The pace of Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been is an aspect included in the story that has a negative impact as well. The story begins at a pace that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Urban Development And Reconstruction Of Cities Contemporary cities face a dilemma in the modern world today; either they evolve in order to adapt to the challenges which globalization bring about, or simply refuse to change and stagnate. At present the global economy is at a fragile and unpredictable state, and for cities to continue to be competitive they are directing their attention towards their own historical, cultural, social, assets coupled with their own creative talents and spaces. The production, publication and campaign of such events as, festivals, exhibitions and championships are important factors of urban development and reconstruction of cities by way of economic prosperity, media coverage, image building and tourism. • 6. Critical Analysis Of Iris Marion Young Five Faces Of... Five Faces of Oppression: Marginalization Iris Marion Young, an American political theorist, is the author of The Five Faces of Oppression (1990). In this book, Young explicates the unjust effects of oppression in today s societies. By definition, oppression is described as prolonged cruel or unjust treatment by a ruling group inflicted on another group. One of the five forms of oppression is marginalization. This type of oppression may be the most dangerous one because it socially excludes an individual from the participation of society based on race, religion, disability, appearance or affiliation with a particular group. I agree with Young s idea of justice, in which a person should not be treated in an oppressive or demeaning manner, all due to the current social structure of marginalized individuals roles in society. When people think of oppression, they think of it as a sort of tyrannical or overbearing rule of a group over another in order to gain an unjust advantage. And while there is no doubt about it that it is true, there is another underlying meaning behind it. In today s usage, oppression can also be the systematic limitations that a social group may experience. Although they might not seem like a big deal, it is heavily prevalent in many different settings and environments without it being the intention of a government. In The Five Face of Oppression, Young describes the new left oppression as the vast and deep injustices some groups suffer as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although the characters are not real, the types of things happening in the novel did occur in the time period the book was written. The Red Ponywas first published in the year 1932. Setting The novel, The Red Pony, takes place mainly on a ranch in Salinas California. It is very near the Gabilan Mountains, a mountain range in Monterey County. The novel takes place during the great depression. This was somewhere between the years 1929 and 1939. In the ranch that the novel takes place, it contains a series of rainy, cloudy, and sunny days. All of these different climates play a key role in the novel. On the ranch, it has a chicken coop, a barn, a house, a bunkhouse, and a lot of extra land. All of the things mentioned have great meaning to the story. The rainy weather results in the main character, Jody, to lose his first horse, Gabilan. When the rain occurred, Gabilan got very sick from being outside in the very wet, cold, and scary environment. If the rain did not occur, the horse would not have died. The death of Gabilan plays a very important piece in the novel. Without this happening, the novel would be completely different. If the early baryon density was low, then it was difficult for a proton to find a neutron with which to make helium before too many of the neutrons decayed away to account for the amount of helium we see today. So by measuring the He/H ratio today, they can calculate the necessary baryon density shortly after the Big Bang, and, consequently, the total number of baryons today. It turns out that you need about 0.05 M total baryonic matter to account for the known proportion of light isotopes. So only 1/20 of the total mass of the Universe is baryonic matter. Older title sequences of the Bill used long camera shots, which were not varied and were focused on a particular person. However over the years as technology has improved the title sequences have become faster paced and use shorter and varied camera shots that create feelings of excitement and tension for the viewer. Music has also changed. The original title sequence (1984) featured reggae style music and used off beat instruments. This suggested that the programme was based in a multi cultural area. The music in the late 80 s was more upbeat and faster paced, however it featured the same theme tune. The music in the mid 90 s was jazzy and sophisticated. Music has become more upbeat due to changes of personalities in society. However the theme tune has remained the same in order for people of different times to identify the programme as a long remaining classic. The storylines of each title sequence have also changed over time. In the original title sequence we do not see the police s face. This indicates that the main emphasis of the programme is on the job of the police rather than their characters. Confucianism was founded over 2000 years ago in the fifth century BC and was the official ethical system of China (Hill, Rihcardson, amp; McKaig, 2009). Corruption can never fully be nonexistent, thus it must be taken into consideration when starting a business in a foreign country. Furthermore, environmental pollution raises ethical issues when host nations are more inferior to the home nation (Hill, Richardson, amp; McKaig, 2009). South Korea had significantly evolved in urbanization since the 1960s, and it is evident that their environmental standards have evolved as well. The government launched the Green New Deal in 2009 that committed to establishing environmental projects (Irwin, 2010). This aligns with Canada Goose s corporate standards in environmental ethics. In addition, South Korea had taken on the initiative to create a code of ethics for almost all major businesses. A great challenge would be to match with the standards of Korea s code of ethics for Canada Goose. Lastly, corporate responsibility management is another factor to consider when entering a new market. Most South Korean businesses are adopting corporate responsibility by focusing more on philanthropy and community engagement. This correlates with Dani Reiss corporate responsibility as the leader advocate for Polar Bear International (PBI). This however never happened, Everett actually ends up giving up his faith for the name of science and language. His novelis a page turner, it make the reader to want to keep reading it until the very end. The way Everett writes just draws people in, the way he chooses his words and the structure of the sentences makes one feels like that they are with him. Over the span of three decades, Everett and his family live with the Piraha for a total of seven years learning their culture and language. What he found their really changed the idea of how we perceive languages and the different theories behind them. The Pirahas, do not have a counting systems, or clan system, nor a fixed terms of color or ritual, along with one of the smallest set phonemes in the world, along with hum and whisper speech. They have no concepts of future or past ideologies, totally living in the present and are relatively very happy people. One unfavorable aspect about this novel is that it lacked the life of the women and children within the villages. Everett only really interacted with the males of this society, whether there was any cultural boundaries that restricted him from interacting with the woman is unknown, but it was something that caught my attention while reading. The novel is spelt up into three parts: Life, Language, and Conclusion. Each one dedicated to a certain part of the Pirahas culture. Part One: Life was very detailed on what events went on in the daily lives. These people get very little sleep and Everett mentioned that it is very rare to have the village totally quiet at night, one is always talking not caring if people next to them are sleeping. They start their day very early, men would leave and go out hunting, while the women search of wild fruits and vegetables. The Piraha people would only catch and gather what they needed for the day. Everybody is subjective; we are all to an extent shaped by what is around us. The selected works mark turning points in the writing of the life of Cook, and each of them is considered as an important work within the field of Cook studies. They all display certain characteristics and carry certain discourses that mark them as also being evocative of their respective time periods. Cook scholars have often tried to prove or disprove certain facts, striven to edit and correct details or attempted to replicate and summarize the total available information. All of this is part of a wider discourse, an exploration of which is helpful in interpreting the backdrop surrounding Captain James Cook. It seems only logical to start with the very first biography, although several works penned by Cook s colleagues dealing with his character had appeared before this, most notably that of Johann Reinhold Forster, naturalist on board the second voyage, in 1778. This first biographical work, The Life of Captain James Cook, was written by the biographer and Non conformist Reverend Andrew Kippis, a member of The Royal Society and The Society of Antiquaries, and appeared 9 years after Cook s death in 1788.
