Big Moving Research Paper
Sometimes I think getting ready for a big move is a blessing in disguise. For anyone who has
moved in the last three years you know the routine: Clean out your drawers and cupboards, rid your
home of clutter and clear off all your counter tops.
In the beginning, it s a bit of a heart stopper seeing all your precious belongings disappearing
from eyesight, but after awhile you start to get used to the sleek look of clean drawers and
counter tops. Suddenly, you re able to get your hands on just what you need at a moment s notice
because everything has its place. This sense of order has a cleansing effect and you vow to
continue this new discipline once you move.
Finally, the day of the big move arrives and off you go to a new home with a... Show more content

Clothespins aren t just for hanging wet clothes. They make great closet organizers for hats, mitts
and scarves. Glue the pins to the inside of closet doors and keep your mitts organized in the cold
weather. Use the same idea in an office cupboard to hang memos, cards, photos or small calendars.
6. Use pretty glass knobs or other coordinating hardware to hang tee towels over the sink in the
laundry room.
7. Sometimes candles will sit in a drawer for an entire year without being used, and may easily be
broken during that time. Next time you empty a roll of paper towels, use your empty cardboard
roll to store candles, labeling each tube with the color and size of candle.
8. The next time you have to go poking around a dark place like your crawl space or fusebox,
have a flashlight ready to go. If your flashlight is metal, simply attach a small magnet to the
outside of the fusebox, or glue a strip of Velcro for plastic versions. Don t forget to put batteries in
the flashlight.
9. If you purchase large bags of dog food, simply empty into a small garbage pail for easy storage.
Close the lid tightly and the food will stay fresh for

An Allegory In George Orwell s Animal Farm
An allegory is a story or poem that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden message, typically
involving politics. A great example of an allegory is George Orwell s, Animal Farm. When just
looking at this story, one would think it was just about animals that ran off their owners and then
formed their own lifestyle with an animal leader. On the contrary, if one was to pay attention to the
story they would notice that it is pointing the reader to a time in history. Orwell wrote the story
around 1944 in reference to the Russian Revolution and to slander the Soviet Union. Throughout the
novella, the reader is introduced to the vital characters and is able to connect them to men in
history. For example, Old Major the pig was a symbol of Karl Marx. One can see this through
the personality and Old Major and also through him telling of his dream. In the beginning of the
novel, Major has a dream where all animals were equal. He told the other animals that they did
not have to have short lives that were dominated by labor and hunger for the human s sake. Old
Major asked during the giving of his dream if it was not crystal clear, comrades, that all the evils
of this life of ours spring from the tyranny of human beings? The dream was used to shadow Karl
Marx s Communist Manifesto where Marx presented the evils of feudalism, capitalism, and the
ideal world of communismto inspire the Russian Revolution. Marx believed that everything in the
worlds history could be explained in result of

Visit Of The Shree Swaminarayan Mandir On Prescott Avenue
When it comes to the topic of understanding religions other than one s own, most are educated by
what they have learned through their reading, or have been taught by professors, colleagues,
friends and neighbors. Few have the curiosity, courage, and in my case a course requirement to
attend a service of another religion and dialogue with those practicing that particular religion. I
chose to visit the Shree Swaminarayan Mandir on Prescott Avenue mainly because of my curiosity
regarding the diversity of the practice of Hindusim. I attended two services, one being the
celebration of Diwali, the festival of lights, and the other being an ordinary Sunday ritual. These
experiences have given me a unique understanding of the practice of Hinduism... Show more

We began to take a seat as close to the rear as possible, when Mary Katherine pointed out that we
were clearly on the women s side of the temple. The other two male students and I realizing our
lack observational skill turned around and exited back through the shoe room, and into the lobby.
There I thought it would be best to stop in and inform the young man in the office (whose name
has slipped my memory) that we were visiting as part of our course. He welcomed us and
explained that today was their celebration of Dewali and that they were expecting close to 500
people. He came out of the office and brought us down the center isle up to the shrine. I couldn t
hear much of what he was saying, partly due his accent, but also due to the loud music that was
being played by a few worshipers just a few feet away. The shrine was composed of three figures
covered in brightly colored decorative ornaments and clothing. The figures stood in a large altar
that appeared to be beautifully carved and finished wood that was lined with strips of lights that
flickered colored patterns throughout the service. Below the altar was an assortment of foods and
fruits, which were aesthetically prepared and plated. I took a few pictures as were many
worshipers, the young man then said he had to head to the back of the temple to grab something
and my fellow students and I then headed to the back of the temple to take a seat. The service was

Sleet Vs Ice Storm
The ice storms start out, begins, with warm air and some layers of cold. Then as the rain freezes as
it is falling from warm air to cold air, everything melts as it falls, and when it hits the ground it
attaches itself as water and it freezes. Soon everything, will be covered with ice, power lines, roads,
bridges, and trees. Then we have a good ole icestorm, which around here these up or down hill
travels aren t good, since we have no guard rails over most of it. Weathermen, use a METAR code
to figure out what the weather is going to be, for the winter forecast. Sleet is the confusing one,
because it matters where you live. Snowand sleet are very small and delicate ice pellets, that form

The Care Of A Patient
Within this case study I am going to use two of the Chapelhow et al. (2005) enablers to discuss
and reflect on the care of a patient I have been involved with on placement over a period of 5
weeks. Enablers are the essential and underpinning skills that come together to provide expert
professional practice (Chapelhow, C et al. 2005, p.2). These include; assessment, communication,
documentation, risk, professional decision making and managing uncertainty. The enablers work
together to provide a holistic approach to the care of patients in health care settings. I am going to
focus on and discuss two of the enablers, linking them both together, which will be assessment and
communication as I believe these two enablers can be related most to my patient. I have gained
full consent to use this lady as my patient in my care study. Consent is important as you must
always gain permission from the patient in regards to their care plan and keep them fully informed.
It is vital that the person consents before any treatment, care, examination or assessment (Brooker
et al., 2007, p.157). Confidentiality is a fundamental part of professional practice that protects
human rights (NMC, 2008). To maintain my patient s confidentiality throughout my care study I
am going to call her Annie. Annie is a 72 year old lady whose care I have been involved with on
placement. Annie s medical history included; previous left hip replacement, osteoporosis, high

Louis Riel Hero
Louis Riel Position Paper: Hero
Paragraph 1: Must briefly explain the issue and state your position on it (do not present any
reasons).
We must cherish our inheritance. We must preserve our nationality for the youth of our future. The
story should be written down to pass on. (Louis Riel, 1884, IZ Quotes). Louis Riel, an
accomplished leader of the Metis, the architect of Manitoba and a resolutely, religious man who
spoke for the rights of the Metis and Manitobans, is one of the most controversial figures in
Canadian History. A beloved icon of the Metis, Manitobans and French Canadians wills, he spoke
for the inherited rights of all people, that would not be trampled by any including the Dominion of
Canada. For others, he is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, in reality, his actions did cause a rebellious and traitorous portrayal of himself in the
eyes of the English Canadians, Orangemen and the Federal Government. One such act was the
execution of Thomas Scott an aggressive man who was an ally of Dr. John Schulz and
threatened Riel s life. This execution demonized Louis Riel and was a severe miscalculation
that eventually led to Riel s exile a mistake due to the result of the execution being spread to
Ontario, where it angered many (including John A. Macdonald who sent troops to Manitoba
forcing Riel to flee to the USA). Another reason that depicts Louis Riel in a negative light is the
insanity plea given by Riel s lawyers at the Regina trial in 1885. During Riel s 15 years of exile
in Dakota (USA), he formed a strong, almost psychotic belief that he was the prophet of the New
World and believed the Metis were his chosen people. Louis Riel was admitted into a lunatic
asylum in 1873. The judge and jury of the 1875 trial described him to be sane and punished
according to that description. Also, Louis Riel was tried for high treason the federal government
wanted him hanged, the Ontarians wanted Riel punished and the Quebecois wanted mercy for
his noble cause of defending his people. The charge of high treason is deserving, in the opinion
of many, because Riel did lead two rebellions (Red River and NorthWest) which led to increased
tensions and death. Though absurdly, Riel never fired a bullet in the rebellions he only prayed and
led causing many to call him a coward and

The Post Industrial Age
Uber has been in the news recently for trying to mass market, something people have been
working at for a long time. driverless cars. These cars developed in their Advanced Technology
Center in Pittsburgh, went to the streets in mid September for some selective testing. They hope
to unveil completely driverless cars by 2021. Uber s goal of this project, as best put by their
engineering coordinator, Raffi Krikorian is, To wean us off of having drivers in the car.
(Chafkin) Seeking efficiency, they don t seem to take into account the many side effects of this
development. They released this picture on their website for the unveiling. Pictures are worth a
thousand words, they speak to both the heart and minds of individuals, in ways nothing else can.
The genre of photography, is a recently developed one finding its origin in the post industrial
age. This genre has become ubiquitous in our modern age, with these ease of access to photos
and cameras. We see photos everywhere, from ads to newspapers to instagram, they are
everywhere. Whether to express emotion, show a product, or a beautiful view, there is
something special about the art of photography. Uber, in this photograph, beautifully synthesizes
the aspects so that we are drawn to it. This image of the Uber self driving car, expresses a very
complex claim, that is the direction of technology and labor in our modern society. It seems to

Envy In A Separate Peace
A Separate Peace Writing
Envy is ignorance, and limitation is death, throughout the novel A Separate Peace . Knowles
suggest that Genes envy and limitations, affects him and Finny s relationship together. Gene is an
envious and lost person, who later finds himself, and peace at the end of the story. Throughout the
story, Gene suggest how he is looking for a separate peace, and it shows how his emotions manage
to kill someone; before he returns.
Gene Forrester is obsessed with how talented his roommate Phineas is, so he feels as if he has to
become the best, and Phineas is considered the problem. One part in the novel is when Finny
brought Gene to the beach the day before he had a test, and he thought Finny was trying to take
away Gene s only advantage, which was grades. According to Gene he states, going there risked
expulsion, and destroyed the studying I was going to do for an important test the next morning
(Knowles 23). Gene had known what the beach meant risk wise, but had still went in order to
prove a point. Gene had thought Finny brought him there to get him off his game, and so he could
fail his test. Another way Gene is affected is when he is made to jump from the tree because it

Finny to never play sports again. When Gene admits to hurting Finny, it changes both of the

Advantages Of Qualitative Research
5 Qualitative Research
5.1 Methodology
As the aim of the research is to identify the relationship between the CSR and the brand trust,
focus group would be the most appropriate approach to collect a diverse range of individuals
opinions in a short time (Rabiee, 2007). Moreover, Focus group would encourage participants to
communicate with each other, which would generate more data which cannot be collected by one
to one depth interview, this could be termed as the group effect (Carey Smith 1994). Morgan
Krueger (1993) also point out that focus group would observe the participants attitude about the
social problems.
The objective of qualitative research is to collect the individuals views and support the quantitative
research design. The focus group is considered as a technique, which implements the depth group
interview to collect the data and evaluate the identified variables are relevant for the study (Rabiee,
2007). Richardson Rabiee (2001) argue that participants should be selected according to the
following criteria: First, they have the relevant life experiences and have something to state on the
topic. Second, it would be better that they are not fearful of expressing the opinions among the
participants. Third, they could feel comfortable communicating with each other.
To collect more valuable data, the focus group was divided into two groups, each group has 5
participants. They were conducted in one of the group members flat on 1st November and 2nd

The Optical-Time Domain Reflectometer
The OTDR is a device that measures distances to a reflection surface by measuring the time it
takes for a lightwave pulse to reflect from the surface. Reflection surfaces include the ends of fiber
cables, breaks in the fiber, splice locations, and connector locations. The ability to provide these
measurements simplifies the fault location procedure for fiber systems.
The OTDR measures the scattered and reflected light returning from a pulse of transmitted light.
Pulses of light are generated from the OTDR, and reflected light is displayed on the oscilloscope
portion of the OTDR. Knowing the time delay of the reflected light pulse and knowing the speed
light travels in the fiber determines the distance to the discontinuity of the fiber. Discontinuities or
impedance changes of the fiber cable reflect light back to the OTDR. It is important to know the
index of refraction of the fiber core to accurately determine distance. This setting must be
correctly set on the OTDR. Keep in mind that power level is displayed on vertical axis, and
distance is displayed on the horizontal axis of the screen. Abrupt changes in reflected power can
represent fiber open conditions. The OTDR will display small losses from couplers and connectors.
The accuracy of the OTDR can be in the order of .01 dB splice seen more than 40 km (25 miles)
away to within 1 meter of the problem. Loss performance of new installations is usually recorded
on floppy disks and/or hard copy printouts for future

Arid Climate
The Arid climate has irregular seasons. Say for instance, the Sahara Desert is mainly always hot
and dry. However, some areas change in temperature depending on the latitude, and surrounding
climate. So the two main seasons, summer and winter.
Can range from as hot as 130 degrees, to as cool as negative 30 degrees. Also, latitude determines
what the temperature and seasons will be like.
Is the main factor that determines Arid climate. An area must receive less than 10 inches in a year
to be Arid. However. Some don t receive any rain.
Because the temperatures are so dry, there aren t many plant life here. But, a vast majority of the

Significance And Significance Of The Suez Canal
It may be a crossing from the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, yet it is a symbol that holds
great value to the Egyptian people. The Suez Canal was an idea proposed by many generations,
ranging from the Egyptian Pharaohs to Napoleon Bonaparte. Their ideas failed because it was
believed that there was a height difference between the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea,
because of this it would take an enormous amount of time and money to construct. Some say that
the pharos succeeded in constructing the Suez Canalbut it was later destroyed as there was evidence
of an old path that connected the two seas.
The purpose of the Suez Canal was to reduce the distance of travel between South Asia and Europe
without having to go all the way around Africa, therefore effectively separating Africa from Asia as

The project shares were to be shared between the Egyptians and the French. The actual construction
came about the year 1895 and took 10 years of constant Egyptian labor. The Suez Canal started
from Port Said and ended at Port Tewfik. The British fought the construction with all their might
and yet the Suez Canal was still constructed.
External debts that occurred for the Egyptians forced Ismail Pasha, who succeeded Sa id Pasha, to
sell his shares which Britain bought, yet the French still had the majority of shares but not for long.
During a revolt to end foreign influence in Egypt took place, Khedive Tawfiq requested Britain to

Now the Suez Canal was under foreign control. Egypt gained full control of it after the Second

Sports Subsidies Relies On Fan Support
Many people believe that support for sports subsidies relies on fan support. John Oliver, Dennis
Coates and her companion Brad R. Humphreys present several viewpoints regarding the stadium s
arising arguments and questions. In his parody video Last Week Tonight, John Oliver attacks
stadium subsidies, the process by which local and state governments give hundreds of millions of
dollars in taxpayer money to fund stadiums for professional sports teams. The article Do
Economists Reach a Conclusion on Subsidies for Sports Franchises, Stadiums and Mega Events?
claims that we should not support sports subsidies because of the consensus______. Oliver speaks
to a broad audience while Coates and Humphreys appeal to a specific audience, consisting primarily
of economists. When considering both Oliver s and Coates Humphrey s texts, it is evident that the
genre of the text had the greatest impact on the choice of the organization.
Throughout Oliver s video he makes several clever comments that keeps a broad audience not only
entertained but educates them on stadium subsidies. Oliver cleverly begins his parody video by
mentioning that he loves sports and that the only times he s cried as a grown man has been while
watching the actors play a coach role and delivering inspirational speeches. Oliver finishes his
video by delivering an emotional and uplifting speech in which he states it s time to fight back. He
continues explaining that he has no problem with stadiums having large

Examples Of Mercy And Compassion
There are so many ways on how to practice mercy and compassion. There are three simple steps
given to us by Pope Francis during his apostolic visit here in the Philippines on how to become
ministers of mercy and compassion. First is to rest with God. Second is to renew one s self.
Third is to love others. Pope Francis tells us that To be an ambassador for Christ means to invite
everyone to a renewed personal encounter with Christ. (Evangelii Gaudium). A renewed personal
encounter with Christ is witnessed when we rest with God. Rest is very crucial to everyone s life.
But some people seldom have time to rest due to hectic schedules and for some students are

And also there are people that we love so much but doesn t return our love back. Real love is
about loving God, and letting Him love us back. Another way of practicing mercy and
compassion is to love others. Loving others unlike the renewal of one s self focuses on giving love
to other people. Loving others is bringing Jesus to others. Loving others is not just about giving
them what they need, it s about teaching them how to provide for themselves. Let us practice mercy
and compassion by resting with God, renewing ourselves, and loving others. During the season of
lent we reflect on the passion, death, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Lent is a source
of mercy and compassion in a way that we practice fasting and abstinence and as much as
possible drink water. Water has a chemical formula of H2O which means, H for Honesty, H for
Humility, for being humble enough to admit your mistakes, and O for Obedience, for obeying the
people in authority like our parents. These 3 are the sources of mercy and compassion. That s why
we should be honest, humble and obedient. Always drink H20 on the season of Lent. The author
spent his holy week in the Philippines.

Melodrama and Heaven Allows Essay
Both Rainer Werner Fassbinder and Todd Haynes have drawn on Sirk s film melodramas in their
films. Discuss the differences and similarities between their uses of Sirkian melodrama in their
films Ali: Fear Eats the Soul and Far From Heaven. In developing your analysis you should engage
with theoretical debates about these filmmakers s work and theories of melodrama, and you should

Douglas Sirk, a Danish German film director, is best known for being the father of Melodrama.
He is commonly referred to as a master of the weepie (Willemen 1972) and has been an inspiration
and paved the way for other directors to use and adapt his work. One film that has been embraced

In this way, audiences are made aware that if it weren t for Cathy losing the scarf, they would have

Williams also states that victim heroes are the focus of melodramas through recognition of the
character s virtue, where the victim s point of view is the main concentration of melodrama. The
protagonist s moral virtue ultimately causes immense suffering, thus causing audiences to
empathise with them (Williams 1998). In Far From Heaven, it is Cathy who is the virtuous
individual who silently suffers to maintain equilibrium within her family and society at large. This
is conveyed throughout the film as each event leads us to Cathy s (the victim) recognition as
virtuous through her suffering (Skvirsky 2008). In the first half of the film, Cathy decides she will
do well by her husband Frank by bringing his dinner to the office as he is working late. Just as she
arrives at his office late at night, Cathy discovers her husband, to her surprise romantically involved

The Health Problem Of Interest
Problem: Describe the health problem of interest. (2 paragraphs)
The health problem of interest is sickle cell disease. Sickle Cell Disease is also called Sickle
Cell Anemia. Sickle Cell disease is an inherited blood disorder which means it s not contagious.
Anybody that has sickle cell disease, must have two defective hemoglobin genes from each
parent. If a person has only one hemoglobin gene that is sickled and the other hemoglobin gene is
normal the person will have the sickle cell trait. Hemoglobin is a molecule in the red blood cell that
helps carry oxygen. There is an error in the hemoglobin that causes the cell to be sickled. This
disease deforms the red blood cells shape from a disc like shape meaning the red blood cells are
healthy to a crescent moon shape meaning that s unhealthy. The one thing in common that people
either have the disease or trait is they are immune from catching malaria.
In this disease the unhealthy sickled cells blockade the small arteries and veins which causes
oxygen depletion to all the tissues and critical organs in the human body. The damaged tissues
surrounding the veins and arteries causes infection, Congestive Heart Failure, Kidney Failure ,
Stroke, chronic anemia, Blood Clots and, Painful Episodes. This disease causes the increase of risk
in a lot of health problems such as acute chest syndrome, leg ulcers, muscle pain, intracranial

The good old good old days, a time of peace and happiness and kind of a shady subject. First of all,

finding it difficult to come up with new ideas that are not already present in today s music. The
feeling is portrayed that it might be easier to just go back to a time when all of these ideas were

In addition to wanting to return to a place in time where everything is new and unheard of, the

The Rational Irrationality Complex
According to John Cassidy, markets fail due, not because of greed but rather to the fact that they
act irrationally. Their irrational decisions and results can be, in part, hindered and corrected by
government intervention. That markets fail mostly due to irrationality rather than to greed can be
seen from the scenario of the retail bookstores, particularly Borders, vs. that of e book
publishing. It appears that e book publishing may have a future (PWC, nd), but many book stores
are slow to acknowledge and appreciate that fact. Borders was one of those companies who failed
to foresee the future and acknowledge the fact. More so, they made the astounding error of
employing one of their key competitors to conduct some of their business. According to Cassidy,
cognitive heuristics lead people to be over optimistic about their future and opportunity, therefore
making them unaware of certain trends that should bother them. It is their smugness and
obtuseness that causes them eventually to fail. Some of the retail bookstores fail to appreciate the
significant thereat threat that digital book publishing continues to pose. At one time, it is true, e
book publishing barley made its niche. This was particularly so in Europe. But Amazon Kindle
and similar tools have made it more acceptable and popular and studies such s those by PWC (nd)
predict incremental but sure growth of the digital book publishing future. Hermans, for instance,

quietly, would take care, down in Surrey, that these unsocial impulses, bred more than anything

this combination of decision and humanity that endeared Sir William so greatly to the relations
of his victims. (Woolf, 55) This shows the nationhood that Sir Will promotes to his victims . He
advertises his way of life quite drastically to his patients and that causes for some, including the
Warren Smith couple to feel threatened and leave. All in all, Mrs. Dalloway is a novel that
expresses the emotions and feelings experienced by outsiders. Clarissa, Peter Walsh, and Septimus

empiric, gender conventional, and war criticism. While Sir William is not quite an outsider due to
his controlling nature, he does have a massive empiric way of thinking due to his need for

Pros And Cons Of Hezbollah
Israel s primary strategy in terms of countering terrorism is to use force to eliminate threats to its
sovereignty and security. Initially, Israel sought to occupy southern Lebanon as a response to the
Abu Nidal Organization s attempted assassination on the Israeli Prime Minister to the United
Kingdom. This initial occupation had no relationship to Hezbollah, but is the source of Hezbollah
s establishment. Occupation to suppress violence falls under Audrey Cronin s category of
repression in her study of the decline and demise of terrorist organizations, How Terrorism Ends.
Repression is usually a knee jerk reaction that seems to be less promising in terms of effectiveness
than other strategies.

The Rise And Fall Of Prohibition
What is the purpose of government? The U.S. government has grown to provide much more
than was originally included in the constitution. Some may argue that large government is
helpful, because a large government provides services for its citizens through many different
programs. While this may be, some of these programs have only created bigger problems.
Prohibition is a great illustration of this, while the consumption of alcohol was lowered as a
result, there was a large increase in crime. In the book The Rise and Fall of Prohibition, results
from a study were published, showing that after prohibition, crime in major US cities had risen by
24%, with drug addiction going up a staggering 44.6% (Hanson, 1923). While the intent of these
programs is positive, in most cases it s one step forward and two steps backwards. In The Federalist
Papers No. 2, John Jay stated, Nothing is more certain than the indispensable necessity of
government; (Jay, 1787). While government is necessary, limits must be put in place to ensure that
a government doesn t grow too large, to the point where it grows out of control. Large
governments are inefficient, limit freedoms for individuals, and oppose the idea of free enterprise.
The current US government, for example, has grown much too large, there s a government agency
or department for just about everything you can imagine. This affects everyone from CEOs to
average joes, from air travel to national security, the government is overly involved

A Critical Discourse Analysis Of A Few Of The Speeches By...
The term terrorism is notoriously hard to explain as there is no international consensus on the
definition legally or academically thus is often used to mean many different things by pundits,
politicians and the media. A highly complex phenomenon, terrorism stands at the forefront of
international agendas, and the term is associated with a wide variety of groups all over the world.
So the question is what constitutes terrorism? The dictionary definition is violence or threat of
violence against non combatants or civilians, usually motivated by religious or political
ideologies. This paper aims to do a critical discourse analysis of a few of the speeches by US
Leaders George Bush and Barrack Obama in the aftermath of the attacks on the world trade
centre in 2001. It draws on Schiffrin et al (2003), Foucault s and Van Dijk s concepts of critical
discourse analysis and aims to reveal how Bush and Obama carefully selected emotionally charged
language, expressions and gestures to create fear and panic in the world and how they projected
terrorism negatively all the while advocating and justifying similar strategies and calling it anti
terrorism.
Terrorism is a highly complex phenomenon with over one hundred definitions all over the world, it
stands at the forefront of many international agendas. The complexity of this term means it can be
used to describe many different things, depending on the pundits, politicians or media outlet s
views and ideologies. In simple terms, A

Small Church Ministry Research Paper
When the bigger names and churches receive attention, there is an emotional, theological, and
personal impact on the small church pastor. Emotionally, there should be joy seeing another

saddening because the small church pastoris attempting to do the same thing, but is failing.

International Relations During The Cold War
Final Exam Essay over International Relations This paper will talk about how international
relations changed after the cold war in four parts. The first part will be talking about
environment. The second part will be talking about religion. The third part is sovereignty. The
fourth part will have changes in statehood. The fifth part will talk about gender and then the
conclusion. Environment has been growing as an academic subject for the past three decades
and now it is on the international agenda (Jackson). Since the human population is nearly
doubling, there is a fight for higher standards of living as a threat to the environment. The cause
and effect is very simple. If the human population is expanding, the intake of food consumption
will increase. The effect is hard but easy to consume, food scarcity. The aftermath of food
production overtaxing the land might lead to deforestation and desertification (Jackson).
Industrial mass production of food threatens the depletion of raw materials and energy. While
the production is ever so good, there is an accepted fact that the gases released from the
production buildings will create chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) gases. In the book, it tells us that
CFC gases will cause damage to the Earth s ozone layer or the term called is Global Warming
(Jackson). Global Warming causes severe air pollution and rising sea levels. Using the term
correctly, China is experiencing excessive air pollution due to limited regulation against

students, which I am still a strong believer of but one thing my experience as a teacher in
Kinsale Community School is the relationship you build with your students is absolutely vital
for effective teaching and learning to take place within the walls of the classroom. According to
Kyriacou: A relaxed warm and supportive ethos stems largely from the style and manner of the

any pupil misbehaviour calmly helps pupils to relax too. This better enables pupils to develop
curiosity and interest in learning activities. (Kyriacou, 2007 page 69.) I would have remembering

Because of the many other school districts that were experiencing similar issues, the NAACP
had begun to focus largely on the desegregation of society, starting at schools. The main strategy,
was to push for the acceptance of black students into schools that would be difficult and
expensive for the states to desegregate (National Archives 4). Each of the other schools involved
showed parts of the struggle of being an African American in a white school district, but the
NAACP chose to focus on the Brown case, because it was undoubtedly avoidable without
segregation (History.com 3). This allowed the Brown case to soar through the courts and
eventually make its way at the highest one, the Supreme Court. Lawyers for the plaintiff feared

Why Canada Was An Unjust Society
Intro: Following the crash of the US market on October 29, 1929. Unemployment rates peaked
in 1933 (500,000) which was twice of what it was in 1921. 1 in 5 people were unemployed. The
great depression was devastating for Canada due to it dependency on farming natural resources.
For example, Saskatchewan experienced record low prices in record history. Provincial income
went down 90% within two years. This caused Canadato become an unjust society due to its actions
during the depression; it s treatment of Jewish refugees, and its detainment of Japanese Canadians.
Thesis: Therefore between 1929 1945 Canada was an unjust society.

Example #2:
RB Bennett was the conservative party, prime minister of Canada who joined office in 1927.
Once in office, Bennett had few tangible visions for drawing Canadians out of the
unemployment crisis. He believed governments should interfere as little as possible in the
economy (laissez faire policy). He believed businesses would sooner or later solve the dilemma.
His few efforts to control the economy involved conventional policies. Bennett raised tariffs to
extraordinary levels in an effort to guard Canadian markets and convinced Britain to offer
Canada some favored trading opportunities. In Bennett s speech for Pm he said, The
Conservative Party is going to find work for all who are willing to work, or perish in the attempt,
he told a Moncton audience while on the campaign trail. Mr. King promises consideration of the
problem of employment. I promise to end unemployment. Which plan do you like best? . Although
he promised this, he went the total opposite way after being elected. Unemployment rates peaked

Assessing And Treating People With Health Impairments
Assessing and treating people with health impairments is a challenge faced by health providers
around the world. In an attempt to create a standardized approach to classifications, terminology,
and functional descriptions, the World Health Organization created the International Classification
of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) first as a trial in 1980 as the International
Classification of Impairments, Disabilities, and Handicaps, or ICIDH (Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention, 2012), and then fully published in 2001 under its current title. In what
was considered a radical shift of focus from cause of the disease or disorder to the impact of the
disease or disorder, (World Health Organization, 2002), the ICF is written from the perspective of
ability versus disability. Specifically, it looks at health and functioning in society rather than just
limitations, or disabilities. To accomplish this, the ICF is structured around four broad components
related to health. These components are (a) health conditions (referring to disorders or disease)
which then affect (b) body functions and structure (impairment), (c) activities (e.g., tasks and
actions by an individual), and (d) participation (involvement in life situations) with additional
consideration for the interdependence and impact of (e) environmental factors and (f) personal
factors. (Chapey, 2008; CDC, 2012). The three aspects of (a) impairment, (b) activity, and (c)
participation will be considered

which can be interpreted through context clues such as; current philosophies, current events, and

My Dream Is A Dream
Growing up, my parents moved around a lot. There were times when we lived with relatives,
and there were times when we had an apartment or trailer. We never had any money and could
never stay in one place for long. As I got older, I heard the speeches they told us kids, such as
You can be anything you want when you grow up! and Follow your dreams! But now as I look
around, I see fear and misery. People are depressed and angry at how their lives are going. Our
government is selling our country to anyone with enough money. News has been reduced to
sensationalized, misleading opinion pieces. Rent has gone up. Houseprices have gone up. Gas
prices have gone up. All the while, wages have stayed the same. We are losing our privacy to
lobbying, our rights are being taken away for the illusion of safety, and our politicians want to
remove the safety nets that keep us from losing everything to unforeseen circumstances. This is
not a dream, it is a nightmare. I have dreams that I m currently pursuing them. I want a career I

paycheck. I want to love what I do and life a good life. Not once has a goal of mine been to buy a

The Failure Of A Psychodynamic Relationship
The problem with cross sex friendships is the failure to meet and keep up a platonic relationship.
These relationships start out in the levels of friendships from acquaintances to personal or
intellectual, ultimately evolving into intimate and, or emotional. The triangular theory of love is
then tested by a matter of combinations of the three following components intimacy, passion and
commitment. After there is a set combination, evolved feelings show through attraction, one sided
feelings, personality similarities, attachments and the risks. Cross sex friendships can not have a
relationship without the components of the triangular theory of lovewithout resisting the inevitable
feelings evolving between the two.

Externalism is understood as a thesis about how contents of thoughts are individuated. More

Joyce s Araby and Bambara s Lesson pose surprising similarities to each other. Despite the
narrators strikingly clear differences, such as time period, ethnicity, social class, and gender the
characters have important similarities. Both narrators are at crucial developmental stages in
their lives, are faced with severe adversities, and have a point of clarity that affects their future.
The narrators of Araby and The Lesson live in a cloud of youthful naivety. Despite being faced
with very real challenges, they continue to be blissfully ignorant of pressing adult issues on the
horizon. Both characters are faced with disappointment and life s reality in supposedly magical

Ignorance, Ignorance And Ignorance
According to Mark Lilla s Ignorance and Bliss , The source of the proverb Ignorance is Bliss is a
poem by the 18th century English poet Thomas Gray, who wrote in passing: Where ignorance is
bliss/ Tis folly to be wise (Lilla). At the time the proverb was referring to the Enlightenment and
Christianity s glorification of blind faith, and its renunciation of both scientific reason and
philosophical inquiry; however, today, it can be interpreted as whether or not man has the ability to
maintain happinessin the midst of unhappiness. Is ignorancereally bliss? Can it serve as a way to
avoid anxieties, or would repression of issues only lead to more dissatisfaction? Webster s
dictionary defines ignorance as lack of knowledge, education, or awareness. However, it can
also be seen as a refusal to acknowledge information. Bliss is defined as complete happiness.
Does the idea of ignorance is bliss really hold true? Can happiness be a byproduct of a lack of
knowledge and awareness, or the flat out refusal to acknowledge? The people of Omelas seemed
to have achieved that. The townspeople of Omelas live in a prosperous Utopian town where
everyone is happy, but in order to maintain their way of life a child must be subjected to inhuman
treatment and suffering, They all know it is there, all the people of Omelas...[T]hey all understand

Courage was one of the basic quality of a knight .During the argument with Ganelon Roland said
for everybody knows I fear no treat (61). Fear of death was never the nature of the knights The
French say: damn the man who runs away! Not one of us will fail you, unto death (86). A knight

The Best Athletes Money, Clothes, Cars
Another argument is that these full ride scholarships that are given to the best athletes do not
actually cover all of their expenses. When this happens, schools have boosters. Boosters give the
college athletes money, clothes, cars etc. Example of that is Reggie Bush, running back for the
University of Southern California from 2003 2005. Bush was paid by boosters to attend USC,
which violated NCAA rules. Bush was talked about bad when the violations were revealed and
had to return his Heisman trophy. While Bush actions were clearly wrong and him returning the
Heisman trophy was warranted, its tough to give him much a hard time. At the time, Bush didn
t come from much wealth and even with a full ride football scholarship, he could not cover all of
his expenses. Bush s mother was having trouble paying rent, so a booster at USC offered to pay
for his mother s apartment. Bush felt like he had to take this offer, as there was no other way to
make money and pay for his mother s apartment. If Bush were paid for his participation in the
NCAA, then Bush would have not had to violate NCAA rules. The last and the most important
reason to pay college athletes, is that it will ensure that most college athletes will complete their
degrees. Paying student athletes would provide athletes an incentive to stay in school and complete
their degree programs, instead of leaving early for the professional leagues (Should Student
Athletes Get Paid?). If athletes are paid to play,

Essay about Willem de Kooning
Willem de Kooning is considered one of the best American painters to ever live. He is compared
to one of the Greek Sea Gods, Proteus, and is called a master of a liquid realm who is gifted with
prophecy (Kertess).De Kooning is a highly intellectual, analytical artist with the courage to reject
all assumptions and to take up an issue at its most difficult formation (Hess 16). One of de
Kooning s good friends was the poet, art critic, and MOMA Curator, Frank O Hara. O Hara
considered de Kooning one of the three or four greatest painters of the twentieth century. He
idolized de Kooning and was deeply influenced by de Kooning over their relationship. (Stevens
484) One of O Hara s great poems about de Kooning s work was Ode to Willem de... Show more

O Hara used the lyricism, emotional effects, and metaphorical potentials of poetry to convey a
painting s contents, a painting s appearance and and array of some of the painting s potential
effects upon a viewer. O Hara s writings about visual art are simultaneously art objects and art
criticism. They are art objects themselves made of words responding to paintings. Because this
activity criticism as ekphrasis rather than a formalized description advocated by Greenberg, O
Hara was able to draw on the strengths of both poetic and prosaic expression to write hybrid
pieces of critical text. Again, O Hara s art writings, unlike those of formalist critics like
Greenberg, are a hybrid of aesthetic and critical modes of knowing (Shaw 179). Greenberg is
wrong in his belief that ekphrastic poetry cannot fully capture the essence of a painting. Lytle
Shaw and Charles Bernstein, two critics who supported ekphrastic poetry as a way to capture the
essence of a painting, saw O Hara s art writing as a powerful and necessary counter to the rigidity
that descends from Clement Greenberg s belief in formal art criticism (Bernstein). Bernstein adds
that the significance of O Hara is his ability to avoid simple descriptions of visual art in pursuit of
the complexity found in the pieces they are addressing (Bernstein). Shaw and Bernstein both argue
that O Hara s poetry is a better way to capture visual art than a

  • 2. Big Moving Research Paper Sometimes I think getting ready for a big move is a blessing in disguise. For anyone who has moved in the last three years you know the routine: Clean out your drawers and cupboards, rid your home of clutter and clear off all your counter tops. In the beginning, it s a bit of a heart stopper seeing all your precious belongings disappearing from eyesight, but after awhile you start to get used to the sleek look of clean drawers and counter tops. Suddenly, you re able to get your hands on just what you need at a moment s notice because everything has its place. This sense of order has a cleansing effect and you vow to continue this new discipline once you move. Finally, the day of the big move arrives and off you go to a new home with a... • 3. An Allegory In George Orwell s Animal Farm An allegory is a story or poem that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden message, typically involving politics. A great example of an allegory is George Orwell s, Animal Farm. When just looking at this story, one would think it was just about animals that ran off their owners and then formed their own lifestyle with an animal leader. On the contrary, if one was to pay attention to the story they would notice that it is pointing the reader to a time in history. Orwell wrote the story around 1944 in reference to the Russian Revolution and to slander the Soviet Union. Throughout the novella, the reader is introduced to the vital characters and is able to connect them to men in history. For example, Old Major the pig was a symbol of Karl Marx. One can see this through the personality and Old Major and also through him telling of his dream. In the beginning of the novel, Major has a dream where all animals were equal. He told the other animals that they did not have to have short lives that were dominated by labor and hunger for the human s sake. Old Major asked during the giving of his dream if it was not crystal clear, comrades, that all the evils of this life of ours spring from the tyranny of human beings? The dream was used to shadow Karl Marx s Communist Manifesto where Marx presented the evils of feudalism, capitalism, and the ideal world of communismto inspire the Russian Revolution. Visit Of The Shree Swaminarayan Mandir On Prescott Avenue When it comes to the topic of understanding religions other than one s own, most are educated by what they have learned through their reading, or have been taught by professors, colleagues, friends and neighbors. Few have the curiosity, courage, and in my case a course requirement to attend a service of another religion and dialogue with those practicing that particular religion. I chose to visit the Shree Swaminarayan Mandir on Prescott Avenue mainly because of my curiosity regarding the diversity of the practice of Hindusim. I attended two services, one being the celebration of Diwali, the festival of lights, and the other being an ordinary Sunday ritual. There I thought it would be best to stop in and inform the young man in the office (whose name has slipped my memory) that we were visiting as part of our course. He welcomed us and explained that today was their celebration of Dewali and that they were expecting close to 500 people. He came out of the office and brought us down the center isle up to the shrine. I couldn t hear much of what he was saying, partly due his accent, but also due to the loud music that was being played by a few worshipers just a few feet away. The shrine was composed of three figures covered in brightly colored decorative ornaments and clothing. The figures stood in a large altar that appeared to be beautifully carved and finished wood that was lined with strips of lights that flickered colored patterns throughout the service. Below the altar was an assortment of foods and fruits, which were aesthetically prepared and plated. Enablers are the essential and underpinning skills that come together to provide expert professional practice (Chapelhow, C et al. 2005, p.2). These include; assessment, communication, documentation, risk, professional decision making and managing uncertainty. The enablers work together to provide a holistic approach to the care of patients in health care settings. However, in reality, his actions did cause a rebellious and traitorous portrayal of himself in the eyes of the English Canadians, Orangemen and the Federal Government. One such act was the execution of Thomas Scott an aggressive man who was an ally of Dr. John Schulz and threatened Riel s life. This execution demonized Louis Riel and was a severe miscalculation that eventually led to Riel s exile a mistake due to the result of the execution being spread to Ontario, where it angered many (including John A. Macdonald who sent troops to Manitoba forcing Riel to flee to the USA). Another reason that depicts Louis Riel in a negative light is the insanity plea given by Riel s lawyers at the Regina trial in 1885. During Riel s 15 years of exile in Dakota (USA), he formed a strong, almost psychotic belief that he was the prophet of the New World and believed the Metis were his chosen people. Louis Riel was admitted into a lunatic asylum in 1873. The judge and jury of the 1875 trial described him to be sane and punished according to that description. Also, Louis Riel was tried for high treason the federal government wanted him hanged, the Ontarians wanted Riel punished and the Quebecois wanted mercy for his noble cause of defending his people. The charge of high treason is deserving, in the opinion of many, because Riel did lead two rebellions (Red River and NorthWest) which led to increased tensions and death. Moreover, Focus group would encourage participants to communicate with each other, which would generate more data which cannot be collected by one to one depth interview, this could be termed as the group effect (Carey Smith 1994). • 12. The Optical-Time Domain Reflectometer The OTDR is a device that measures distances to a reflection surface by measuring the time it takes for a lightwave pulse to reflect from the surface. Reflection surfaces include the ends of fiber cables, breaks in the fiber, splice locations, and connector locations. The ability to provide these measurements simplifies the fault location procedure for fiber systems. The OTDR measures the scattered and reflected light returning from a pulse of transmitted light. Pulses of light are generated from the OTDR, and reflected light is displayed on the oscilloscope portion of the OTDR. Knowing the time delay of the reflected light pulse and knowing the speed light travels in the fiber determines the distance to the discontinuity of the fiber. Discontinuities or impedance changes of the fiber cable reflect light back to the OTDR. It is important to know the index of refraction of the fiber core to accurately determine distance. This setting must be correctly set on the OTDR. Keep in mind that power level is displayed on vertical axis, and distance is displayed on the horizontal axis of the screen. Abrupt changes in reflected power can represent fiber open conditions. The OTDR will display small losses from couplers and connectors. The accuracy of the OTDR can be in the order of .01 dB splice seen more than 40 km (25 miles) away to within 1 meter of the problem. Loss performance of new installations is usually recorded on floppy disks and/or hard copy printouts for future ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Their irrational decisions and results can be, in part, hindered and corrected by government intervention. That markets fail mostly due to irrationality rather than to greed can be seen from the scenario of the retail bookstores, particularly Borders, vs. that of e book publishing. It appears that e book publishing may have a future (PWC, nd), but many book stores are slow to acknowledge and appreciate that fact. Borders was one of those companies who failed to foresee the future and acknowledge the fact. More so, they made the astounding error of employing one of their key competitors to conduct some of their business. According to Cassidy, cognitive heuristics lead people to be over optimistic about their future and opportunity, therefore making them unaware of certain trends that should bother them. It is their smugness and obtuseness that causes them eventually to fail. Some of the retail bookstores fail to appreciate the significant thereat threat that digital book publishing continues to pose. At one time, it is true, e book publishing barley made its niche. Some may argue that large government is helpful, because a large government provides services for its citizens through many different programs. While this may be, some of these programs have only created bigger problems. Prohibition is a great illustration of this, while the consumption of alcohol was lowered as a result, there was a large increase in crime. In the book The Rise and Fall of Prohibition, results from a study were published, showing that after prohibition, crime in major US cities had risen by 24%, with drug addiction going up a staggering 44.6% (Hanson, 1923). While the intent of these programs is positive, in most cases it s one step forward and two steps backwards. In The Federalist Papers No. 2, John Jay stated, Nothing is more certain than the indispensable necessity of government; (Jay, 1787). A highly complex phenomenon, terrorism stands at the forefront of international agendas, and the term is associated with a wide variety of groups all over the world. So the question is what constitutes terrorism? The dictionary definition is violence or threat of violence against non combatants or civilians, usually motivated by religious or political ideologies. This paper aims to do a critical discourse analysis of a few of the speeches by US Leaders George Bush and Barrack Obama in the aftermath of the attacks on the world trade centre in 2001. It draws on Schiffrin et al (2003), Foucault s and Van Dijk s concepts of critical discourse analysis and aims to reveal how Bush and Obama carefully selected emotionally charged language, expressions and gestures to create fear and panic in the world and how they projected terrorism negatively all the while advocating and justifying similar strategies and calling it anti terrorism. Terrorism is a highly complex phenomenon with over one hundred definitions all over the world, it stands at the forefront of many international agendas. The complexity of this term means it can be used to describe many different things, depending on the pundits, politicians or media outlet s views and ideologies. In simple terms, A ... Along with the use of mass merchandising as a form of marketing films, with the hope of creating awareness among the public. However, it may be saddening because the small church pastoris attempting to do the same thing, but is failing. • 28. International Relations During The Cold War Final Exam Essay over International Relations This paper will talk about how international relations changed after the cold war in four parts. The first part will be talking about environment. The second part will be talking about religion. The third part is sovereignty. The fourth part will have changes in statehood. The fifth part will talk about gender and then the conclusion. Environment has been growing as an academic subject for the past three decades and now it is on the international agenda (Jackson). Since the human population is nearly doubling, there is a fight for higher standards of living as a threat to the environment. The cause and effect is very simple. If the human population is expanding, the intake of food consumption will increase. The effect is hard but easy to consume, food scarcity. The aftermath of food production overtaxing the land might lead to deforestation and desertification (Jackson). Industrial mass production of food threatens the depletion of raw materials and energy. While the production is ever so good, there is an accepted fact that the gases released from the production buildings will create chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) gases. In the book, it tells us that CFC gases will cause damage to the Earth s ozone layer or the term called is Global Warming (Jackson). Global Warming causes severe air pollution and rising sea levels. According to Kyriacou: A relaxed warm and supportive ethos stems largely from the style and manner of the relationship you establish with the pupils. Because of the many other school districts that were experiencing similar issues, the NAACP had begun to focus largely on the desegregation of society, starting at schools. The main strategy, was to push for the acceptance of black students into schools that would be difficult and expensive for the states to desegregate (National Archives 4). Each of the other schools involved showed parts of the struggle of being an African American in a white school district, but the NAACP chose to focus on the Brown case, because it was undoubtedly avoidable without segregation (History.com 3). This allowed the Brown case to soar through the courts and eventually make its way at the highest one, the Supreme Court. In an attempt to create a standardized approach to classifications, terminology, and functional descriptions, the World Health Organization created the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) first as a trial in 1980 as the International Classification of Impairments, Disabilities, and Handicaps, or ICIDH (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2012), and then fully published in 2001 under its current title. In what was considered a radical shift of focus from cause of the disease or disorder to the impact of the disease or disorder, (World Health Organization, 2002), the ICF is written from the perspective of ability versus disability. Specifically, it looks at health and functioning in society rather than just limitations, or disabilities. To accomplish this, the ICF is structured around four broad components related to health. These components are (a) health conditions (referring to disorders or disease) which then affect (b) body functions and structure (impairment), (c) activities (e.g., tasks and actions by an individual), and (d) participation (involvement in life situations) with additional consideration for the interdependence and impact of (e) environmental factors and (f) personal factors. Ignorance, Ignorance And Ignorance According to Mark Lilla s Ignorance and Bliss , The source of the proverb Ignorance is Bliss is a poem by the 18th century English poet Thomas Gray, who wrote in passing: Where ignorance is bliss/ Tis folly to be wise (Lilla). At the time the proverb was referring to the Enlightenment and Christianity s glorification of blind faith, and its renunciation of both scientific reason and philosophical inquiry; however, today, it can be interpreted as whether or not man has the ability to maintain happinessin the midst of unhappiness. Is ignorancereally bliss? Can it serve as a way to avoid anxieties, or would repression of issues only lead to more dissatisfaction? Webster s dictionary defines ignorance as lack of knowledge, education, or awareness. However, it can also be seen as a refusal to acknowledge information. Bliss is defined as complete happiness. Does the idea of ignorance is bliss really hold true? Can happiness be a byproduct of a lack of knowledge and awareness, or the flat out refusal to acknowledge? The people of Omelas seemed to have achieved that. • 44. The Best Athletes Money, Clothes, Cars Another argument is that these full ride scholarships that are given to the best athletes do not actually cover all of their expenses. When this happens, schools have boosters. Boosters give the college athletes money, clothes, cars etc. Example of that is Reggie Bush, running back for the University of Southern California from 2003 2005. Bush was paid by boosters to attend USC, which violated NCAA rules. Bush was talked about bad when the violations were revealed and had to return his Heisman trophy. While Bush actions were clearly wrong and him returning the Heisman trophy was warranted, its tough to give him much a hard time. At the time, Bush didn t come from much wealth and even with a full ride football scholarship, he could not cover all of his expenses. Bush s mother was having trouble paying rent, so a booster at USC offered to pay for his mother s apartment. Bush felt like he had to take this offer, as there was no other way to make money and pay for his mother s apartment. If Bush were paid for his participation in the NCAA, then Bush would have not had to violate NCAA rules. The last and the most important reason to pay college athletes, is that it will ensure that most college athletes will complete their degrees.
