Essay On Money Is Not Everything
Writing an essay on the topic "Money Is Not Everything" can be a challenging task, as it requires
a delicate balance between expressing personal opinions and providing objective arguments. The
complexity arises from the fact that people often have deeply ingrained beliefs about the
importance of money in their lives. Crafting an essay on this subject demands not only a
thorough understanding of the topic but also the ability to present a well-reasoned argument that
challenges conventional perspectives.
Addressing the multifaceted nature of the topic adds another layer of difficulty. Money plays a
crucial role in various aspects of life, from meeting basic needs to pursuing dreams and
aspirations. However, the challenge lies in exploring the nuanced aspects beyond the monetary
value, such as emotional well-being, relationships, and personal fulfillment. Striking a balance
between acknowledging the practical significance of money and recognizing its limitations is
key to crafting a compelling essay.
Moreover, one must navigate through the vast array of perspectives on the subject. Different
individuals have diverse experiences and beliefs regarding the role of money in their lives. A
comprehensive essay should not only consider contrasting viewpoints but also offer a nuanced
understanding that goes beyond a simplistic "money is or isn't everything" dichotomy.
Additionally, organizing the essay coherently poses its own set of challenges. The structure
should facilitate a smooth flow of ideas, allowing the reader to follow the argument seamlessly.
Balancing statistical evidence, real-life examples, and personal reflections can be intricate,
requiring careful consideration to maintain a persuasive and engaging narrative.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic "Money Is Not Everything" demands intellectual
dexterity and the ability to navigate through complex nuances. It is a task that requires not only
sound research and analytical skills but also a keen understanding of human experiences and
values. Crafting such an essay involves going beyond surface-level discussions and delving into
the intricate interplay between money and the broader aspects of life.

Portfolio Assignment ITS 315: Introduction to Networks Mazen Alkhatib December
23, 2012 Network Implementation Over four months, a very short period of time, a
small accounting firm grew from five employees to fifty. The existing network
architecture could no longer support the exponential growth. Peer to Peer networks
work very well in a small office environment. Once the ratio of employees exceeds
around five employees resources, file storage and a plethora of other network
disasters begin. The obvious solution was to recommend a change. As explained in
the proposal the proposed upgrade from a peer to peer network architecture to client
/server was an imminent necessity. Cable Recommendation The accounting firm...

Our intention is to do the aforementioned in a manner that will allow us to manage
all of the files and resources from a central location by implementing a server to
our current network architecture. Reasons to Change. In the past our peer to peer
network architecture served us well by providing us with a way to share our files
and resources in a manner that did not require much planning. Unfortunately, as a
peer to peer network grows it becomes more difficult to maintain due to its lack of
centralized control which makes it un scalable. With the addition of fifty
individual workstations, security access and file storage control remains in the
hands of the user. For example, should someone decide to delete a company file,
there would be no way of knowing. Once there are more than five or six
workstations attached peer to peer networks begin to pose as a security threat that
may cause loss of sensitive company data due to virus and spyware attacks.
Fortunately advancements in technology have provided a viable solution for
rapidly growing small businesses such as our own called servers. Our Viable
Solution. Adding a server to our current network will allow our employees to
manage, store, send and process data from a centralized location 24 hours a day. In
The Use of Turbine Blades in Generating Electricity Essay
The Use of Turbine Blades in Generating Electricity
Turbines are used in many different ways produce and generate electricity. They are
used as gas turbines, coal turbines and steam turbines. Each one has a different
property, which makes it unique. Airlines and cars generally run on gas turbines.
Steam engines, ships and railway engines run on coal turbines as coal produces a high
amount of energy that enables them to run for long length of time before adding
more coal.
In order for these turbine s to operate well and efficiently with as little maintenance as
possible, it is necessary for the turbine s to have well constructed, well designed
turbine blades. They have to have certain properties that enable them to withstand

In order to cope with the pressures of having to implement the need to be lightweight
and environmentally friendly, they have to improve the mechanical and thermal
strength in order to match keep up with the rising technology and competition.
Turbine blades have to be able to endure temperatures around and greater then 500OC,
in order for them to be useful. A reasonably lightweight alloy commonly used in the
production of turbine blades is an often a long SiC fibre reinforced titanium alloy for
the highly mechanically loaded parts. By using sputtering techniques followed by hot
isostatic pressing cycles, the components then become strengthened in comparison to
conventional materials, which are manufactured.
These alloys are heavily researched to adapt to long term behaviour which the
turbines and blades undergo. These researches focuses on the durability of the
turbines and degrading reactions at fibre matrix interfaces as well as internal
protective layers. This means that they test the materials under extreme conditions
e.g. high temperatures or duration periods, which will enable them to find the stress
points which will be more prone to damage than other areas as well as disintegration
points.
By conducting these research experiments, engineers have been able to produce a
fibre reinforced material that is oxidation resistant (rusting) and damage tolerant for a
long duration of time and for temperature up to 1400OC,
My Brother Sam Is Dead Quotes
Have you ever heard the saying war turns men into beasts ? I ve never heard it until
I read the book My Brother Sam is Dead. The theme of that book for me is war turns
men into beasts because Susannah (Mother), says it when people died, got
kidnapped, or stole cattle from others.
The main character, Tim Meeker, had an older brother (Sam Meeker) who decided
he wanted to fight in the war. His choice made him have to steal the family s gun.
Father, Eliphalet/Life Meeker, wasn t very happy with it. He needed it to be able
to fight back when he went to trade. While on his way back, a group of soldiers
came and kidnapped him. Later we found out he was dead. In just these two
examples we see that war had made Sam steal from his own family, and

Abstract This paper discusses the impacts of the September 11, 2001 terrorist
attacks on the aviation industry. Specifically, how aviation industry members were
forced to alter their marketing mix in response to the events. The four P s of
marketing were all modified. The airlines had to change their product (route
structures) and their prices. They also had to change their promotion tactics to ease
the customer s fear factor . Lastly they had to alter the means of delivering their
product to the consumer due to enhance security measures (place). September 11,
2001 will always be considered a turning point in the history of America. The events

Cooperation within alliances poses several challenges to managers: the size of the
alliance, the need to intensify cooperation and the harmonization and standardization
of common processes, and the search for synergies to reduce costs. However, in
times of crisis, alliances do not necessarily prevent stiff competition between the
partners. At present, five alliances В– One World, Star, Wings, Sky Team and
Qualiflyer stand out as the core groupings around which other airlines with strong
regional networks will come together to form worldwide networks and can be
described as global alliances. But they remain fragile creations subject to competing
attractions and economic forces. Over the years, several companies have switched
from one alliance to another. Austrian Airlines, for example, moved from the
Qualiflyer to the Star alliance. Air France has recently floated the idea of creating a
Mediterranean alliance with Alitalia and Iberia. To make this three way deal
possible, Iberia would have to leave the OneWorld alliance. Airlines took the various
short term measures that have been described above, but few changed their long term
strategies. The network carriers did cut out some unprofitable routes, and reduced
frequencies on others. The 11 September

With legs crossed at the heels and arms folded, a man leaned his lower back against
the dark marble counter of a small apartment kitchen. His hair was short, blonde,
and styled with hair gel. His face was rounded and subtly angular with a jaw
accentuated by a rough stubbly ginger brown beard. The beard was quite thick and
dense, and appeared as if some days before there had been an attempt to neatly trim
it. His eyes were bright green, almond shaped and innocent but were made slightly
sinister by a thick arched brow and a widows peak hairline. Above him was a
selection of dark cupboards like you might expect to find in such a kitchen, except
the doors all hung open and another man was rifling through them. The guy was

Prevent Identity Theft
Identity theft is a growing problem and happens when someone else uses your
information/identity as if it were their own. It s a serious crime that can damage your
finances, credit history, and inflict an emotional toll. The recovery process can take
time, money, and patience to resolve. According to the Identity TheftResource Center,
it takes 600 hours to restore your identity after a theft has taken place. This means
your best bet is prevention.
There are two primary actions that you should take:
Review your credit report regularly at annualcreditreport.com
Reviewing your credit report helps you catch signs of identity theft early. By law,
you are entitled to a free copy of your credit report every 12 months from the three
major bureaus: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. This site is the only official site
authorized by federal law to provide them. Review your reports annually and look for
any suspicious activity.

Analysis Of 50 First Dates
The movie 50 First Dates is about a tragic head injury and its effects on memory
that takes place in Hawaii. In the movie, the main character, Lucy, experiences a
terrible car accident that involved hitting a tree and resulted in short term memory
loss. Lucy had her long term memory and was able to recall everything prior to the
actual accident. However, Lucy was unable to retain and store new memories after
a night s sleep. Each morning Lucy would wake up and think it was Sunday,
October 13th, her father s birthday. Lucy s father and brother worked hard each
night in order to undo any changes for the next day. This was the routine that
happened daily until Henry Roth came along. Henry Roth worked as a veterinarian
at an aquarium until he could finish his boat that he wanted to sail to Bristol Bay
to study walruses, a plan he had for ten years. Henry was a man who had trouble
committing to relationships. Henry was known for short lived relationships with
women who were vacationing in Hawaii. Henry walks into a diner one day and
spots Lucy sitting alone. After a few visits to this diner Henry finds the courage to
talk to Lucy and make a breakfast date. Following their meeting, Henry is informed
of Lucy s condition and thinks she s the perfect girl for him; no commitment since
every night she forgets what happened that day. After creating multiple forced
encounters, Henry begins to realize he really likes Lucy. Lucy s father and brother

The Palace Of Versailles As A Symbol Of Wealth, Glory,...
Absolute monarchs in the seventeenth and eighteenth century made sure to increase
their power in order to have absolute authority. These monarchs all had several similar
methods to control, consolidate, and increase power. Methods in these centuries
included constructing grand buildings, controlling the nobles, and stimulating
economic revenue. Constructing grand buildings for absolute monarchs was a
symbol of wealth, glory, importance, and power. Louis XIV of Francespent an
enormous amount of money to construct the Palace of Versailles. Construction began
in 1660, and it was not until almost 30 years later that the palace was complete. The
Palace of Versailles served as many different functions, ranging from the residence of

These show Philip II s deeply religious aspect. The rulers of Louis XIV, Peter the
Great, and Philip II all built magnificent buildings to consolidate and grow their
power by their dominating influences. In Europe, absolute monarchs knew that
controlling the nobles was key to power. Louis XIV exemplified this by removing
nobles from the royal council and transferring them to his court of Versailles. Once
they were at his court, Louis XIV discretely controlled the nobles by cleverly
occupying them with numerous activities of life in Versailles, none of which
included politics. As a result, the nobles influence over politics diminished,
allowing Louis XIV to gain more power. Another absolute monarch was Peter the
Great of Russia. Peter the Great also agreed to the idea of controlling the
aristocracy. However, his way differed from Louis XIV. Peter the Great compelled
nobles to shave their beards and cut their coats at the knees in a bid to Westernize
them. Not only that, Peter demanded that nobles that held land either serve in the
military or civil offices. These actions from Peter show the increase of monarchial
power over the landed nobility. To add on, in the eighteenth century, Peter the Great
created the Table of Ranks, which allowed non nobles to become nobles through a
serious of levels. This increased Peter s power since this new nobility was dependent
on him, and they

A Limit for Their Own Good
Whether we are aware of it or not, technology has become a normal part of our
lives nowadays. No matter where we go, technology will be present, from mobile
devices to more complicated creations, and all generations are exposed to them,
specially the younger ones. This young generation spends a great deal of time in front
the screens of these technologic devices. Which is why parents should limit the
amount of time children under 12 use technology since it does not let them develop
certain abilities, it limits them from having real life interactions, and it might cause
children health problems too (Summers).
Many kids were born in the Digital Era therefore, they are surrounded by
technology and screens most of the time, mostly at home, but too much exposure
to this can affect their abilities. According to a Research made by the University of
California, Los Angeles, kids who spent time away from looking at screens were
better at recognizing human emotions than kids who kept living their lives with
technology around them (Wolpert). This show us, how replacing real life
interactions for screen time not only isolates children but also makes them unable
to develop this kind of skill, skills that are important in the real life and are likely to
be needed in the future. Besides that, kids who invest most of their time on staring at
screens can be faced by health problems in the long run. As reported by some
researchers, this health problems range from childhood obesity and irregular sleep
patterns to social and/or behavioral issues. (Summers). Therefore, considering all
these negative effects on children, parents should be more cautious regarding how
much time their kids use technology and expose themselves to screens and digital
media.
Some parents might argue, however, that kids do not necessarily waste their time
with technology and actually utilize it for educational purposes such as researching a
school project, creating music or art, or interacting with friends via social media.
(Elana). Parents might believe that this is reason acceptable enough to let them
control it as much as they need to. They are partially

The American Bullfrog is native to lands east of the Rockies. The Bullfrog was

the world, where it either eats the natives, or competes with the natives for food until
the natives die out or near extinction as it happened in the
Four Period School Day Controversy
After a schedule change, students and teachers have been having controversy about a
four period and eight period school day. After two years of the new schedule,
although calmed down somewhat, the controversy continues. An eight period school
day (traditional schedule) seems to be far outweighed by a four period schoolday
(block schedule). A four period school day provides academic, educational, and
emotional benefits when compared to an eight period school day. A typical eight
period school day would have eight forty seven minute long classes with a thirty
minute lunch and five minutes between each class period, lasting the whole school
year (7). A typical four period school day would have four ninety two minute long
classes with a thirty minute lunch and seven minutes between each class period (7).
The first four classes go from the middle of August to around the middle of January,
then the next four go from the middle of January to the end of May. At Preston High
Schoolstudents and teachers were surveyed on stress levels from each schedule.
They were also surveyed on which schedule they thought was more effective for
learning. A consensus between all of the students and teachers agreed that the
block schedule was more effective for learning (8). They also all agreed that an
eight period day proved significantly more stressful when compared to their amount
of stress in a four period day (8). A block schedule is very beneficial if it is properly
implemented.
Mean Girls Is A Teen Comedy Film
Deciding what is most important in life is often a struggle, especially during high
school. Mean Girls is a teen comedy film loosely based on the self help book titled
Queen Bees and Wannabes. The main character is a high school student named
Cady that just moved from Africa and has been homeschooled her whole life. The
American culture and society she is introduced to is embodied by the Plastics, who
are the most popular girls at North Shore High: Regina, Gretchen, and Karen. The
pressure put on Cady by society causes her to struggle to decide what her priorities
should be. Mean Girls criticizes the traditional notions of femininitythat are expected
of women, as they are not required for them to be successful and accomplished.
Consider the scene when Cady first goes to Regina s house, closer to the beginning
of the movie. During this scene, the Plastics collectively walk up to a mirror and
start stating what they dislike about their bodies. The fact that the Plastics, who are
supposed to be the most popular and attractive characters in the film, are pointing
out flaws on themselves induces feelings of superiority, because even they aren t
perfect. The superiority theory as described by Rappoport suggests that this is
humorous because feeling superior to someone, even subconsciously, causes
pleasure and laughter. Putting down the supposedly perfect characters causes the
viewer to feel gratification as it may cause a boost of their ego. This scene is also
incongruous for a
The Separation Of Argon, A Uniform Dc Electric Field At...
Abstract A home made dc sputtering is characterized by cathode potential of 250
2000 V and sputtering gas pressures of (3.5Г—10 2 1.5) mbar. This paper studies in
experiment the breakdown of argon, a uniform dc electric field at different discharge
gaps and cathode potentials. Paschen curves for Argon are obtained by measuring the
breakdown voltage of gaswithin at different target cu,Au,Ag, vacuum chamber . The
Paschen curves in Ar gases show that the breakdown voltage between two electrodes
is a function of pd (The product of the pressureinside the chamber and distance
between the electrodes). Current voltage characteristics visualization of the discharge
indicate that the discharge is operating in the abnormal glow region.
Keywords: gold target , gas discharge, glow discharge, plasma , dc sputtering.
I. INTRODUCTION
Dc glow discharges are widely applied for depositing thin films, etching, plasma
polymerization, oxidation, and pumping gas discharge lasers, etc. Therefore the
research into the conditions of the dc glow discharge is of considerable interest [1]
[6]. Plasmas are ionized gases; hence, they consist of positive (and negative) ions
and electrons, as well as neutral species. Therefore, the ignition of the dc glow
discharge is one of the oldest problems in the study of low pressure gas discharges.
The mechanism of the gas discharge can be explained as follows: When a
sufficiently high potential difference is applied between two electrodes placed in a

Military Technological Advances
Advances in military technology have helped the course of history by changing
our weapon use and design of weapons over the course of time. If we still had the
same weapons as the 1800 s I have a feeling our world wouldn t be the same way it is
right now. Our military has evolved and grown into thousands of men and women
who are risking their lives everyday to try to make sure our world and people are safe
and no harm comes our way. If our military systems and people still had the same

years. if I could take a
The Discovery Of The `` New `` T Rex Explosion During
The...
The Discovery of the new T Rex occurred during the blistering heat of a Ganzhou
summer by a construction worker in the city. Obviously, it was not a
paleontological expedition but it quickly turned into one after the worker s backhoe
slammed into a rock hard barrier. Though the man likely assumed it would be a
major inconvenience for his job (such as bedrock or pipes), but he was in for quite
the surprise. Amidst the dusty, dirty air, the skeletal remains of a new species of
TyrannosaurusRex lay idly by just waiting to be discovered. That is right, the
Qianzhousaurus Sinensis, in all the glory of its long snout, was revealed completely
by accident.
Paleontologists were aware of the T Rex and other similar dinosaurs for quite some
time, but were unable to actually put together how and where they evolved from.
There were questions that went unanswered because of a severe lack of uncovered
fossils. It was very recent that the fossils were unearthed, and it has been filling the
cracks of the unfinished puzzle ever since. So, is the Tyrannosaur famous merely
because of the mystery of its evolution, or was it because of the dinosaur itself? Those
questions are answered thoroughly in the article. The original discovery of the T Rex
was more than a century ago, but the unique creature has still managed to remain the
main attraction in the dinosaur world. The reason stems from the creature s
mysterious family tree. The mighty Tyrannosaurus Rex is unlike any other dinosaur
Review Of The Egyptian Cinderella
Cultural Cinderella
Cinderella is one of the most well known stories in every culture. Cinderella comes
from many regions and time periods. Folktales are stories inspired by popular
culture, typically passed on by word of mouth. The Egyptian Cinderella (the first
version of Cinderella) is a folk tale that suggests breaking social and racial barriers.
Fairy Tales are stories, like myths, that provide supernatural explanations of everyday
events, often with a moral outcome, or the portrayal of justice. The Disney version of
Cinderella is a fairy tale that implies mistreatment of people. These narratives share
in common the idea of love conquers all.
In the Egyptian Cinderella, Rosy Rhodopis was kidnapped from her home in
Greece and taken to a house to work with other servant girls. She was considered a
slave while the Egyptian girls were considered servants. They taunted and teased
Rhodopis because she looked different to them. Their hair was straight and black
while hers was golden and curly. They had brown eyes and hers were green. Their
skin had the glow of copper, and she had pale skin that burnt easily in the sun.
Since she was rejected by the other girls, she found friends among the animals, she
loved to sing and dance for them. Her master was intrigued by her dancing that he
rewarded her with a pair of slippers, the shoes were gilded with rose red gold and the
soles were leather. Now the other servant girls could really hate her for they were
jealous of her beautiful

whose first product, the Kindle e book reader, came to market wrapped in a business
model not only foreign to Amazon s DNA but also potentially disruptive to the entire
publishing industry. To launch this high margin, product based offering, Amazon had

In addition to the roll of asphalt roofing material, you are going to need a hook

With additional assistance, you can handle more length than that. You will also
want to measure your roof; depending on how long each side of your roof is, you
may be able to create sheets of roofing material that will run the entire length of
your roof. Cutting The Rolled Roofing Material First off, you need to lay down a
piece of plywood on the ground. Then, unroll the roofing material on top of the
layer of plywood. The plywood protects the roofing material from any dirt on the
ground and will any sticky coatings or layers on the roll as well. The plywood also
functions as a giant cutting board. Once the roofing material is stretched out on the
plywood, use your measuring tape to measure out the length of material that you
determined you needed. In order to mark where you need to cut, use your hook
blade utility knife to make a small notch at the appropriate length. Then, take your
hook blade utility knife, and starting where the notch is, pull straight across to cut
off a section of the roofing material. Once you have cut the section, roll it back up.

Vaseline, Mineral Wax and Paraffin Jelly for its moisturizing effects. It is
classified as slightly hazardous when placed in direct contact with the eyes or
ingested. These both seem to pose unlikely risks for your child, as the petrolatum is
present inside the diaper, not just loosely available for ingestion or eye contact. For
ingestion, the baby would have to eat the entire diaper to be at risk, and if the baby
did eat the diaper, it only causes slight irritation of the gastrointestinal tract. The most

Natural News then stated that styrene, ethylbenzene and isopropylene were found in
diaper emissions and that they most certainly cause cancer. According to the EPA
and the FDA, styrene is not classified as a carcinogen. Ethylbenzene is also not
classified as a carcinogen. If you come in direct contact with isopropyl, or you set
it on fire, you could have a problem on your hands as it is corrosive, highly
flammable and the vapors can cause dizziness. However, as previously mentioned it
is very unlikely that babies will come in direct contact with chemicals or fire, so they
should be safe. The only PAHs actually classified by the EPA as carcinogenic are
benz(a)anthracene, benzo(a)pyrene, benzo(b)fluoranthene, chrysene,
dibenz(ah)anthracene, and indeno(1,2,3 cd) pyrene. Natural News does not mention
any of these compounds as being found in Pampers

Victimization, Perceive Crime Ad The Justice System Essay
Data and Variables
This study is influenced by variables that have been gathered from the General
Social Survey on Victimization. The information from the survey dates back to
2009, and focuses specifically on Crime and Justice, and well as Society and
Community. The data set consist of 554 different variables, and 19422 cases from all
provinces within Canada excluding territories. The data was collected by Statistics
Canada on behalf of those who have been victimized. Also known as Cycle 23, the
data collected only survey those who were 15 years of age and above. The purpose
of this survey is to understand how Canadians, through their experiences of
victimization, perceive crime ad the justice system.
Since not all provinces have the same population within, a sample was gathered
from each province as a representative of the overall population. When analyzing
the province of resident of each respondent, Ontario and Quebec have the largest
samples because they consist of the largest populations. On the contrary,
Newfoundland and Labrador, along with Prince Edward Island have the smallest
samples because the population of those provinces are lower compared to other
provinces. Samples of each population act as a representatives to the population for
many reasons. The main reasons are that it is very difficult to interview every single
household within a country. Not all information will be accurate, and not all
variables apply to some individuals. Therefore it is possible
What Was The Difference Between Platt And Ward
Both Platt and Ward do an excellent examination of critically going through what
was happening in the Child Savings Movement and America s juvenile justice
system. Platt and Ward gave me perspectives of beliefs, biases, practices, and
institutions that existed during the inception of the juvenile justice system. I will be
discussing one of the practices which is child labor and also I will be discussing
about the orphan trains. Does punishment work? I will then be discussing reflectively
about what I would have done to address this problem.
Platt s view on the motivation of the child saving movement was interesting. He
believed there was a middle class desire to control the dangerous and perishing
classes. A push from middle class professionals working in the area to improve their
status. The desire of middle class women to widen their sphere of influence. In 1969,
Platt summarized three themes: (1) The child savers were not benevolent, because
they imprisoned children for long periods of time under the pretext of protecting
them from corrupting influences, (2) the ideal home setting was gauged by idealized
middle or upper class standards that would be difficult for anyone to maintain, and
(3) the child savers blurred the line between dependent and delinquent children, so
any criminal child lost the right to due process and anybody who argued this point
was treated as uniformed. Child labor was extremely terrifying during the child
saving movement. These children were
How Companies Use Manipulative Tactics Within The
Food...
Within a free market, there are very little restrictions towards companies in their
effort to attract the general public to their product. Specifically, this is seen within
the food industries. Their marketing tactics revolve around a goal to make the
consumer like their product to the point where they need more of it, no matter how
unhealthy it is. Nevertheless, this shows how companies only care about money
and will do anything they can to make a profit. This process of finding the perfect
combination of ingredients is described by Moss, he states In a process of product
optimization, food engineers alter a litany of variables with the sole intent of finding
the most perfect version (or versions) of a product. (Moss 263). This... Show more

With this though, the tasty ingredients provided by these big companies are to the
liking of the unknowing consumer as he/she will purchase the products that satisfy
them with the most pleasure, regardless of what it does to the body. Further
expanding on the idea that food companies impose health risks on its consumers,
there are many other negative aspects of the production process as well. For
instance, Moss explains another harmful tactic used by companies, What I found,
over four years of research and reporting, was a conscious effort taking place in
labs and marketing meetings to get people hooked on foods that are convenient and
inexpensive. (Moss 262). In this case, companies have complete control over its
consumers. With an addictive sense for a specific product within a consumer, their
demand soars as well as the company s profit. Overall, this represents the unethical
tactics being it manipulates people to keep buying foods that are unhealthy and
cheap, giving them a distorted sense that, since they are saving money, it is the best
product for them. As a college student, I understand where these people are coming
from considering, on a tight budget, there are only a select amount of foods that are
available, most being unhealthy. To add, people are subject to play the game of these
companies in that, in some cases, when

Unit 7 Hooke s Law Lab
Unit 7 Hooke s Law
Introduction
This lab will test the relationship between the spring constant, k, from Hooke s Law
and the change in applied force resulting in displacement. Using two different
methods, part one and two of the lab will determine the spring constant, k. In part
one we will hang different masses from the spring so that we can alter the amount of
force acting on it. After applying these weights, one can measure the displacement
caused by this action. Hooke s equation will yield a straight line graph of F (weight)
versus x (displacement). The slope of the graph will yield the spring constant, k. In
part two we will be using the oscillation of the mass on the spring as an example of
SMH. By graphing the oscillation, we can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Post Reformation During The Reformation Era
Post Reformation era is remarkable better in the Good Governance compared to the
centralistic Pre Reformation era, since the authoritarian tremendous power in the pre
reformation era can be easily used to suppressed the opponents and defy the good
governance principles. Unfortunately, there are some weakness with this infancy
stage of decentralization in the post reformation era due to power abuse by the
district government or the local forestcommunities to forest resources. The euphoria
of Reformation revolution endorse over exploitation and over reclaim on state forests,
which generate further forest conversion and illegal logging. Furthermore, the
overlapping jurisdiction also become common problem within this era, since each tier
of government claim to have the righteous authority. All aforementioned issues, may
eventually impair the implementation of the good governance and should be
effectively addressed.

Examples Of Figurative Language In Drama
F igurative language is the language that expresses one thing in terms of another by
analogy, extension, or other association. A critical approach to drama written in
verse requires the knowledge of not only of metre but also the function and
purpose of the various figures of speech. These should never be only decoration
because they are one of the means by which the playwright can develop and express
his meaning. The various figures of speech have often been made interchangeable,
thus a satisfactory definition of them is difficult to provide. There is a tendency to
include symbols, similes, and metaphors making up the imagery. Metaphorical is
used to mean figurative and symbolical or symbolizes is often applied to almost any
of the figurative... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this technique, understanding is suggested not through conscious evaluations like
those of a chorus aware of everything, a character specially endowed with authority,
or the observers who interpret a central referent but through devices of speech that
implicitly reveal a level of awareness beyond the speaker s own comprehension. By
introducing changes of tone, images, allusions, ambiguous words, and variation in
sound, or by making a speech from words, images, and symbols repeated or
duplicated in other contexts, the dramatist breaks the barrier of human limitations of
his individualized characters. Through these devices, the dramatist creates
authoritative dramatic facts relevant to all the characters. None of these stylistic
devices can function alone. They acquire their significance from the general context
of the action, which, they in turn try help to elucidate through their own
contributions. Each of these stylistic devices works with other devices, of language
and structure, in provoking the spectators to view the action as a whole in a certain
perspective. This lack of autonomy is especially true of the sound pattern into which
the dramatist shapes his words, that is, the pattern produced by variations in stress
and pitch, differences in the placement and duration of pauses, the relationships
between individual words or lines, the presence or absence of rhyme, and the contrast
of one speaking voice with another. While it is possible to isolate and describe this
pattern, the resulting description can embody no specific meaning. The sound pattern
may have only appropriateness, meaning that the emotion articulated by the content
of expressive words determines their arrangement. Nevertheless, in many instances
sound devices lead the spectator toward a clearer understanding of the situation
presented. Rhyme implies a
The World s Urban Population
1Introduction background From 2011 to 2050 it is expected that the world urban
population is rise from 7.4 billion to 9 billon. Much of this will be in the cities of
developing and less developing countries (World Urbanization Prospects the 2011
Revision, 2012). Therefore maximum of the development will happen in Asia and
Africa. Population will be living in urban areas by 2020 and 2035 respectively. It
is forecast that the world s urban population will grow by 1.4 billion during the
period of 2011 and 2030. China will be Share 276 million and India be 218 million
in this increment. India will account for slightly over 15.5% of increase the world
urban population (World Urbanization Prospects the 2011 Revision, 2012). Urban
population is growing and that are going to be face problem like congestion and
pollution. India contribute 6% of world Road accidents and 10% of world road
death rate. More than the 1.41 lakh people die in road accidents and more than 1
million deadly road accident take place every year. They are mostly of pedestrians
or cyclist. For them there is hardly devoted space on road (Jain, 2014). Indian cities
are urbanizing and population is increasing 280 million in 2001 and 590 million by
2030 probably. Motor vehicle population in India has increase by 100 times from
1951 to 2004, while the road network as expended only 8 times. This has caused
huge strain on the urban transport infrastructure, which is already of overcapacity
coupled with problems of
The Pros And Cons Of Poverty
Just ten years later, janitors once again marched for an increase in their wages. The
city still had to confront all the issues related to poverty and wages, so the workers
decided that their best option for them to be heard, was through a march (Meyerson,
2000). As the marchers began to walk down Wilshire Boulevard from downtown to
Century City, they experience many surprises. As they walked the cars kept honking
at them, not become of anger, but because they were trying to signal their support for
the movement (Meyerson, 2000). As the movement continued, there was a lot more
support then what they believed they would get. Elected officials came out and
stood on the flatbed truck leading the parade, to signal their support (Meyerson,
2000). This march was very different in comparison to the one that had occurred 10
years prior, which had been violent. Furthermore, there was a lot of influential
people on their side, for example Deputy Mayor Manuel Valencia, who said that the
wages that the strikers are now earning are simply not a livable wage, not for anyone,
not in Los Angeles. (Meyerson, 2000). They had a great deal of support, not only
here, in L.A., but also abroad. There is an important line in the article by
Meyerson, By making visible the lives of our immigrant poor, by making plausible
a solution to their poverty, they have in 10 short days improved us all (2000). They
stood up for their rights, and helped make L.A. a better city. It is interesting to see that

Committee shall maintain long run growth of the monetary and credit aggregates
commensurate with the economy s long run potential to increase production, so as to
promote effectively the goals of maximum employment, stable prices, and moderate

After several years of financial turmoil and panics, particularly the panic of 1907,
the U.S. policymakers realized the need for banking and currency reform. The
Federal Reserve Act was enacted on December 13, 1913. It was an act of congress

Government, 1977)
In the 1930s the Federal Reserve act was amended to create the Federal Open

Governors and five representatives from the Federal Reserve Banks. The FOMC
meets at minimum four times a year and has the power to direct all open market
operations of the Federal Reserve banks.

FOMC to promote the goals of maximum employment, stable prices and moderate

FEDERAL RESERVE OPERATIONS AND OVERVIEW
When economists think of monetary policy implementation they primarily focus on
instruments, operating targets, intermediate targets, and policy goals. Instruments are
the variables directly controlled by the central bank(Flandreau, 2007). These contain,
an interest rate charged on reserves borrowed from the central bank, the reserve
requirement ratios that govern the level of reserves banks must hold against their
deposit liabilities, and the composition of the central bank s own balance sheet. The
instruments of policy are employed to accomplish a

Francis Galton published a paper about synesthesia in the journal Nature in 1880.(

Bleuler and Karl Lehmann collected data on 76 synesthesia patients and compiled a
book that now is considered a milestone in the history of synesthesia. (Simner). As a
whole the scientific community delved into the study of synesthesia in the late 19th

until the 1970s when the study of synesthesia was revived. (Carpenter). Synesthesia
history was one of self discovery and new studies and data about the condition.
The exact cause of synesthesia although not discovered; at the moment the cause can
best be explained by the hypothesis of serotonergic factors. Scientists do in fact

three categories as follows are developmental synesthesia, acquired synesthesia, and
drug induced synesthesia. (Brogaard). Developmental synesthesia is the most
common type; it is the form of the condition that has continued since birth or early

relieved by steroid therapy.( Reemtsma 1964) For example, Cutler et al. found that
from 1960 to 2000, average life expectancy increased by 7 year. Research
The Possibility Of Vulnerability
In order for humans to connect with one another, they must accept not only their own
vulnerability but also the vulnerability of others. However, vulnerability may be a
trait in which every human shares, but not everyone is willing to embrace the
concept. Understanding the power of vulnerability is essential when trying to
comprehend human nature because it gives us the ability to see someone at their
truest self. Accepting one s self at their deepest truest selves opens them up for the
possibility of connection. It is logical then that if vulnerability leads to connection
then it too leads to joy, the birthplace of joy as Brown coins it (2015). When one
accepts vulnerability and then become vulnerable for the sake of connection, that
The Allocation Of Funds Is An Ongoing Debate
The allocation of funds is an ongoing debate when administering all aspects of fiscal
policy. Policy makers around the world routinely debate what should take precedence
when it comes to government spending. In general, lawmakers fall into one of two
categories. They either believe and support that more government funds should be
spent on social services, or the opposing view is that more should be allocated toward
defense spending. Despite what elected officials might think, there is a finite amount
of funds, therefore, without continuing to increase the national debt, an increase in
spending in one category should cause a decrease in another. In 2016, the United
States spent $615 billion on defense, $914 billion towards social security,... Show

Military spending for Benoit contributed to improved productivity and infrastructure.
For countries who have a higher production capacity, military spending increases, as
well as, aggregate demand, investment, and utilization of production. As a result,
output is stimulated. In summary, despite the diverse set of countries observed, there
was a 3.33 percent mean increase found in GDP growth. (Dicle and Dicle 2017). One
country examined specifically is China. As a rising dominant military and economic
power, China s military and economic correlation holds significant relevance on a
global perspective. Our findings confirmed a positive relationship between China s
economy and military spending. One source approaches our research question from a
unique angle. Atesoglu focuses on the relationship between the two variables from a
global viewpoint. Given that the world is globally anarchic, there is no supreme
authority that controls all aspects of international relations (Atesoglu 2013). Thus,
each state must maximize their military power to survive as a sovereign state.
Sonmez concludes, Economic growth relaxes the wealth constraint and allows for
more military power. This theory implies that by increasing a country s wealth,
economic growth results in an increase in military spending. proving an undeniable
relationship (Atesoglu 2013). Furthermore, in light of China s
Impact Of Technology On The Field Of Information
Technology
Current Technologies in Cybersecurity Cybersecurity can be defined as the
technologies and processes used to protect data, networks, and computers from
attack or damage. Currently, it is one of the fastest growing careers in the field of
information technology with a bright outlook in the future. There is a high demand
for cybersecurity specialists with hundreds of thousands of jobs all over the country
from Washington D.C to Portland, Oregon. With new technology coming out and
changing every day, the cybersecurity specialist must keep up with the latest
methods to ward off hackers attempting to gain unauthorized access to data. Four
technologies that have a huge impact on cybersecurity would be cloud computing,
software/tools, active defense measures, and encryption. Cloud Computing Cloud
Computing has shifted the storage of information and data to remote servers on
the internet rather than a local server. It has cut down the cost and the need for
physical hardware and has focused on a pay per use system through the cloud
provider. It also provides the ability to scale depending on the resources needed by
the company. Third party cloud providers offer increased security of their services
opening up more jobs for cybersecurity specialists to secure that data. Since Clouds
are held off site, it practically makes physical attempts to breach into systems for data
nonexistent. In reference to his article about cloud computing playing a role in
government affairs, Morten
Correlation Between Fear And Anxiety

Instead, he has a colossal fear of tests, he begins to perspire and worry, which then
triggers a panic attack. Some may question as to why he simply does not relax, but
is it because his fear of tests has generated an anxiety disorder?

People with panic disorders will also begin to avoid the places they have had panic
attacks at, a coping method as described before. The ADAA (2015) discusses how
panic attacks could lead to trips to the emergency room, given the symptoms mimic
those of a heart disease ( Symptoms ). The first onset of a panic disorder generally
occurs in adolescence or early adulthood.
Phobias can lead to the development of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD),
which can cause severe anxiety for the people who suffer with it. OCD can be
described as constant thoughts reviewing every thought and action done. What if? is
the common question that consumes the mind of someone who suffers with OCD.
People who have OCD have their brain racing a thousand miles per hour. Obsessive
Compulsive Disorder sufferers also constantly need reassurance that they will be
okay. According to the Help Guide Organization, people who have OCD have
compulsions, which are behaviors or rituals that one feels driven to act out

OCD sufferers tend to be more superstitious than most. OCD sufferers are genuinely

Macbeth Letter To Macbeth
Dear О›О¬П‡ОµПѓО№П‚,
You fates boast your ability to command the path of a person s life, prideful of the
claim you have unwavering demand over one s singular destiny, but how can this be
true when you have no authority over an individual in which route they choose to
embark upon towards their destination? An ending outcome might be determined by
you ОњОїбї–ПЃО±О№, but only after the individual in question determines which
branch they should climb upon. You made a dreadful and pitiful appearance in
Shakespeare s tragedy of our dear Macbeth, in which you appeared to tell him of his
destiny of regality after his acclamation to Thane of Cawdor. While this position of
Thane was unbeknownst to him at the time, you only told him after the destiny was
fulfilled; he was already Thane before you told him, yet he had not known. You did
not predetermine this fate of his, for it had already come to fruition. You only gained
accreditation by telling him that of which was already true! You cannot take credit
for the acts that have already been consummated and present them as prediction.
Macbeth brought the title of Thane of Cawdor upon himself through determination
and free will; King Duncan bequeaths the position to Macbeth after he captures his
traitorous predecessor. King Duncan states, What he hath lost, noble Macbeth hath

that you were the sole factors in his title. Presenting events that have already come

many important state programs going unfunded, including transportation, increasing
the tobaccotax could aid in the state debt of Missouri. Even former opponents of
raising the taxes have begun expressing their own plans to move Missouri more in
line with the rest of the nation. Raising taxes on tobacco for the state of the
Missouri s unfunded projects could drastically open doors for more jobs for
residents in the state. The raising of the tax can also fund for children initiatives and
reduce the bad habits of smokingfor younger adults. In my opinion raising the state
taxes on tobacco can help with countless causes for the state of Missouri and the
cities. Raising the taxes on tobacco products can aid in the debt of not only the
state of Missouri but for the entire country of the United States. Organizers of the
Raise Your Hand for Kids campaign on Friday outlined their plan for a statewide
ballot initiative to an audience of about 100 business, education, health and early
childhood leaders at the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce. (Sherry,
Proposal to Raise Missouri s CigaretteTax Would Fund Children s Initiative.)
Hamlet Vs Gertrude Research Paper
Kaylee Finnegan
Mrs. Coughlin
English Composition I
1/2/17
Hamlet vs. Gertrude:
Hamlet is one of the most well known plays of William Shakespeare s. Anyone who
has read the play knows that the plot has so many twists and turns that make it such
an intriguing story. It begins with Hamlet being upset after his father dies of poison.
Queen Gertrude, his mother, remarries quite quickly to Claudius, Hamlet s uncle.
Queen Gertrude doesn t know that Claudius killed her original husband, but Hamlet
assumes that she knows about the murder and that she remarried simply for sexual
desire, which isn t the case. Hamlet s love for his mother quickly turns to hate
because she is so innocent about the situation; he thinks she is pretending to not
know. The increasing failure in relationships fuels Hamlet to plan revenge on King
Claudius. He has to continually adjust his plan throughout the story when Claudius
tries to get rid of him. Hamlet becomes so focused on plotting revenge on Claudius
that he doesn t even notice that he abuses his mother s love for him and it ends up
killing them both in the end.
Hamlet and Gertrude are different in their personality types. According to Keirsey s
temperament sorter, There are four main types of personality temperaments

Being good at planning operations (Keirsey 199) is a major Rational Mastermind
characteristic. Hamlet assures his real father he will get revenge on Claudius
(I.v.199). INTJ s stick to their word; they are loyal (Keirsey 201). So, uncle, there
you are. Now to my word: / It is Adieu, adieu. Remember me. / I have sworn t.
(I.v.116 117). Hamlet swears he will get revenge on Claudius, and he does so in
memory of his father. This is his main motive during the story. It drives him to forget
about any emotions but those of hate towards the
How Does Huckleberry Finn Show Civilization
Has anyone ever tried to drill their beliefs into your cerebellum because they
honestly think that their religion or behavior overpowers all? In the Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, an uneducated rebellious kid named
Huckleberry (Huck) Finn sees civilization as a repressing system where one must
behave accordingly and be tied to a set of rules and how to s. As Huck is
tormented and beaten by society s tainted morality and his own father, he sees no
point in returning to civilization where he will be chained down by the degrading
rules of a hypocritical world. In the beginning of the novel, Huck faces the harsh
brutalities of civilization through his father, a drunk deadbeat man. Pap Finn is
known as the town drunk who wears ragged... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Grangerfords represent themselves as a family full of courageous members
who are dignified and well known. Even though they come out to be a splendid
family, they own hundreds of slaves and are in constant battle with the Shepardsons,
another family, for a reason that has been long forgotten. Through this constant
feuding, it has drilled into the family members anger and a thrill in murdering each
other. Society does not condemn the family in their actions because, as expected,
they are white and follow the conventional status of having a higher power than
black people. Huck witnesses the action that occurs once the feuding begins, and he
recalls that watching the horror unfold made him sick. He says that, as they swum
down the current the men along the bank shooting them and singing out, Kill them,
kill them! It made me so sick I most fell out the tree. I ain t a going to tell all that
happened ... I wish I hand t ever come ashore that night to see such things (112). As
Huck recalls on his serene life on the river, he comes to conclusion that on land,
hypocrisy and contradicting worlds go hand in hand. Families, such as the
Grangerfords and the Shepardsons, exert confidence and represent dignity, but they
contradict their very words by handing their
Comparing League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Mary
Reilly,...
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Mary Reilly, and Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde
Robert Louis Stevenson s short novel, The Strange Case of
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde has spawned many retellings of Dr. Jekyll s
tale, as well as variations on the theme. The Jekyll and Hyde conceit
is one that lends itself to many different forms of literature, such
as motion pictures and sequential art. Sometimes liberties are taken
in reinterpretations of Mr. Hyde from the original text. This can be
distinguished in two recent works, The League of Extraordinary
Gentlemen, a comic book miniseries by Alan Moore and Kevin O Neill,
and Mary Reilly, a film by Stephen Frears.
The appearance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, as the movie
progresses, Jekyll becomes hairier, due to his going about unshaven,
but Hyde remains smooth faced; and he has smooth, well manicured
hands, a contradiction to the original book. The only character that
looks like a stereotypical Hyde in the movie is Mary s father, which
goes to one of the themes the movie has; that of women in abusive
relationships due to childhood experiences.
The stature of Jekyll and Hyde in Stevenson s original tale
were two different things. Hyde was a dwarfish man, as described
by Utterson (41) and other people. This was highlighted on several
occasions where Hyde was wearing Jekyll s clothing. Lanyon described
Hyde as wearing clothes... [that] were enormously too large for him
in every measurement (72), and when Hyde is found dead in Dr.
Jekyll s cabinet, [h]e was dressed in clothes far too large for
him, clothes of the doctor s bigness (66). Mary Reilly maintained
this size disparity in some fashion. Since the parts of Jekyll and
Hyde were both portrayed by
The Species Taxonomy Of Barn Owls
Taxonomy
The species taxonomy, according to Sieders (2009), is as follows:
Kingdom: Animalia Phylum: Chordata Class: Aves Order: Strigiformes Family:
Tytonidae Genus: Tyto Species: alba
According to Bachynski and Harris (2002), Tyto alba, commonly referred to as the
Barn Owl, has 35 recognized subspecies worldwide. These individuals are
differentiated by their body size, coloration, and geographic location. The subspecies
that resides in North America is known as Tyto alba pratincola. (Bachynski Harris,
2002).
The barn owl has been referred to by many other common names, including: Lesser
Masked Owl, Monkey Faced Owl, Cave Owl, Death Owl, Delicate Owl, Demon Owl,
Ghost Owl, Golden Owl, Hissing Owl, Night Owl, Screech ... Show more content on

They can be found near grasslands, open fields, and woodlands. More recently, they
have moved closer to rural and urban areas where prey is more abundant. (Sieders,
2009). Wild Feeding Habits
The Tyto species is unique with their heart shaped facial disc that reflects sounds
waves to the inner ear. This ability allows the nocturnal predator to hunt in complete
darkness. These attacks also come as a surprise to their prey, as they are able to
perform silent flight with their fringed wing design. (Sieders, 2009).
These owls possess a higher metabolic rate, eating more than most other owls. Their
diet changes with prey availability rather than a change of season like some
animals. In Australia, Sieders (2009) reports that their most common prey is the
introduced long haired rat and the house mouse. Australia has had an infestation
problem with these prey species. They have also been recorded eating small
mammals, bats, baby rabbits, caterpillars, frogs, lizards, gophers, shrews, and voles.
Smaller prey items are swallowed whole while the larger items can be torn into
smaller pieces before consumption. (Sieders,

It 315 Unit 3 Assignment Portfolio Assignment ITS 315: Introduction to Networks Mazen Alkhatib December 23, 2012 Network Implementation Over four months, a very short period of time, a small accounting firm grew from five employees to fifty. The existing network architecture could no longer support the exponential growth. Peer to Peer networks work very well in a small office environment. Once the ratio of employees exceeds around five employees resources, file storage and a plethora of other network disasters begin. The obvious solution was to recommend a change. As explained in the proposal the proposed upgrade from a peer to peer network architecture to client /server was an imminent necessity. Cable Recommendation The accounting firm... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Our intention is to do the aforementioned in a manner that will allow us to manage all of the files and resources from a central location by implementing a server to our current network architecture. Reasons to Change. In the past our peer to peer network architecture served us well by providing us with a way to share our files and resources in a manner that did not require much planning. Unfortunately, as a peer to peer network grows it becomes more difficult to maintain due to its lack of centralized control which makes it un scalable. With the addition of fifty individual workstations, security access and file storage control remains in the hands of the user. For example, should someone decide to delete a company file, there would be no way of knowing. Once there are more than five or six workstations attached peer to peer networks begin to pose as a security threat that may cause loss of sensitive company data due to virus and spyware attacks. Fortunately advancements in technology have provided a viable solution for rapidly growing small businesses such as our own called servers. Our Viable Solution. Adding a server to our current network will allow our employees to manage, store, send and process data from a centralized location 24 hours a day. In

They are used as gas turbines, coal turbines and steam turbines. Each one has a different property, which makes it unique. Airlines and cars generally run on gas turbines. Steam engines, ships and railway engines run on coal turbines as coal produces a high amount of energy that enables them to run for long length of time before adding more coal. In order for these turbine s to operate well and efficiently with as little maintenance as possible, it is necessary for the turbine s to have well constructed, well designed turbine blades. They have to have certain properties that enable them to withstand high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to cope with the pressures of having to implement the need to be lightweight and environmentally friendly, they have to improve the mechanical and thermal strength in order to match keep up with the rising technology and competition. Turbine blades have to be able to endure temperatures around and greater then 500OC, in order for them to be useful. A reasonably lightweight alloy commonly used in the production of turbine blades is an often a long SiC fibre reinforced titanium alloy for the highly mechanically loaded parts. By using sputtering techniques followed by hot isostatic pressing cycles, the components then become strengthened in comparison to conventional materials, which are manufactured. These alloys are heavily researched to adapt to long term behaviour which the turbines and blades undergo. These researches focuses on the durability of the turbines and degrading reactions at fibre matrix interfaces as well as internal protective layers. This means that they test the materials under extreme conditions e.g. high temperatures or duration periods, which will enable them to find the stress points which will be more prone to damage than other areas as well as disintegration points. By conducting these research experiments, engineers have been able to produce a fibre reinforced material that is oxidation resistant (rusting) and damage tolerant for a long duration of time and for temperature up to 1400OC,

The theme of that book for me is war turns men into beasts because Susannah (Mother), says it when people died, got kidnapped, or stole cattle from others. The main character, Tim Meeker, had an older brother (Sam Meeker) who decided he wanted to fight in the war. His choice made him have to steal the family s gun. Father, Eliphalet/Life Meeker, wasn t very happy with it. He needed it to be able to fight back when he went to trade. While on his way back, a group of soldiers came and kidnapped him. Later we found out he was dead. In just these two examples we see that war had made Sam steal from his own family, and

Cooperation within alliances poses several challenges to managers: the size of the alliance, the need to intensify cooperation and the harmonization and standardization of common processes, and the search for synergies to reduce costs. However, in times of crisis, alliances do not necessarily prevent stiff competition between the partners. At present, five alliances В– One World, Star, Wings, Sky Team and Qualiflyer stand out as the core groupings around which other airlines with strong regional networks will come together to form worldwide networks and can be described as global alliances. But they remain fragile creations subject to competing attractions and economic forces. Over the years, several companies have switched from one alliance to another. Austrian Airlines, for example, moved from the Qualiflyer to the Star alliance. Air France has recently floated the idea of creating a Mediterranean alliance with Alitalia and Iberia. To make this three way deal possible, Iberia would have to leave the OneWorld alliance. Airlines took the various short term measures that have been described above, but few changed their long term strategies. The network carriers did cut out some unprofitable routes, and reduced frequencies on others. The 11 September

These monarchs all had several similar methods to control, consolidate, and increase power. Methods in these centuries included constructing grand buildings, controlling the nobles, and stimulating economic revenue. Constructing grand buildings for absolute monarchs was a symbol of wealth, glory, importance, and power. Louis XIV of Francespent an enormous amount of money to construct the Palace of Versailles. Construction began in 1660, and it was not until almost 30 years later that the palace was complete. The Palace of Versailles served as many different functions, ranging from the residence of the king... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These show Philip II s deeply religious aspect. The rulers of Louis XIV, Peter the Great, and Philip II all built magnificent buildings to consolidate and grow their power by their dominating influences. In Europe, absolute monarchs knew that controlling the nobles was key to power. Louis XIV exemplified this by removing nobles from the royal council and transferring them to his court of Versailles. Once they were at his court, Louis XIV discretely controlled the nobles by cleverly occupying them with numerous activities of life in Versailles, none of which included politics. As a result, the nobles influence over politics diminished, allowing Louis XIV to gain more power. Another absolute monarch was Peter the Great of Russia. Peter the Great also agreed to the idea of controlling the aristocracy. However, his way differed from Louis XIV. Peter the Great compelled nobles to shave their beards and cut their coats at the knees in a bid to Westernize them. Not only that, Peter demanded that nobles that held land either serve in the military or civil offices. These actions from Peter show the increase of monarchial power over the landed nobility. To add on, in the eighteenth century, Peter the Great created the Table of Ranks, which allowed non nobles to become nobles through a serious of levels. This increased Peter s power since this new nobility was dependent on him, and they
  • 10. A Limit For Their Own Good Milagro Ascencio Mrs. Mary Jo Loftin English 3 8th August 2017 A Limit for Their Own Good Whether we are aware of it or not, technology has become a normal part of our lives nowadays. No matter where we go, technology will be present, from mobile devices to more complicated creations, and all generations are exposed to them, specially the younger ones. This young generation spends a great deal of time in front the screens of these technologic devices. Which is why parents should limit the amount of time children under 12 use technology since it does not let them develop certain abilities, it limits them from having real life interactions, and it might cause children health problems too (Summers). Many kids were born in the Digital Era therefore, they are surrounded by technology and screens most of the time, mostly at home, but too much exposure to this can affect their abilities. According to a Research made by the University of California, Los Angeles, kids who spent time away from looking at screens were better at recognizing human emotions than kids who kept living their lives with technology around them (Wolpert). This show us, how replacing real life interactions for screen time not only isolates children but also makes them unable to develop this kind of skill, skills that are important in the real life and are likely to be needed in the future. Besides that, kids who invest most of their time on staring at screens can be faced by health problems in the long run. As reported by some researchers, this health problems range from childhood obesity and irregular sleep patterns to social and/or behavioral issues. (Summers). Therefore, considering all these negative effects on children, parents should be more cautious regarding how much time their kids use technology and expose themselves to screens and digital media. Some parents might argue, however, that kids do not necessarily waste their time with technology and actually utilize it for educational purposes such as researching a school project, creating music or art, or interacting with friends via social media. (Elana). Parents might believe that this is reason acceptable enough to let them control it as much as they need to. They are partially

  • 12. Four Period School Day Controversy After a schedule change, students and teachers have been having controversy about a four period and eight period school day. After two years of the new schedule, although calmed down somewhat, the controversy continues. An eight period school day (traditional schedule) seems to be far outweighed by a four period schoolday (block schedule). A four period school day provides academic, educational, and emotional benefits when compared to an eight period school day. A typical eight period school day would have eight forty seven minute long classes with a thirty minute lunch and five minutes between each class period, lasting the whole school year (7). A typical four period school day would have four ninety two minute long classes with a thirty minute lunch and seven minutes between each class period (7). The first four classes go from the middle of August to around the middle of January, then the next four go from the middle of January to the end of May. At Preston High Schoolstudents and teachers were surveyed on stress levels from each schedule. They were also surveyed on which schedule they thought was more effective for learning. A consensus between all of the students and teachers agreed that the block schedule was more effective for learning (8). They also all agreed that an eight period day proved significantly more stressful when compared to their amount of stress in a four period day (8). A block schedule is very beneficial if it is properly implemented.
  • 13. Mean Girls Is A Teen Comedy Film Deciding what is most important in life is often a struggle, especially during high school. Mean Girls is a teen comedy film loosely based on the self help book titled Queen Bees and Wannabes. The main character is a high school student named Cady that just moved from Africa and has been homeschooled her whole life. The American culture and society she is introduced to is embodied by the Plastics, who are the most popular girls at North Shore High: Regina, Gretchen, and Karen. The pressure put on Cady by society causes her to struggle to decide what her priorities should be. Mean Girls criticizes the traditional notions of femininitythat are expected of women, as they are not required for them to be successful and accomplished. Consider the scene when Cady first goes to Regina s house, closer to the beginning of the movie. During this scene, the Plastics collectively walk up to a mirror and start stating what they dislike about their bodies. The fact that the Plastics, who are supposed to be the most popular and attractive characters in the film, are pointing out flaws on themselves induces feelings of superiority, because even they aren t perfect. The superiority theory as described by Rappoport suggests that this is humorous because feeling superior to someone, even subconsciously, causes pleasure and laughter. Putting down the supposedly perfect characters causes the viewer to feel gratification as it may cause a boost of their ego. This scene is also incongruous for a

Abstract A home made dc sputtering is characterized by cathode potential of 250 2000 V and sputtering gas pressures of (3.5Г—10 2 1.5) mbar. This paper studies in experiment the breakdown of argon, a uniform dc electric field at different discharge gaps and cathode potentials. Paschen curves for Argon are obtained by measuring the breakdown voltage of gaswithin at different target cu,Au,Ag, vacuum chamber . The Paschen curves in Ar gases show that the breakdown voltage between two electrodes is a function of pd (The product of the pressureinside the chamber and distance between the electrodes). Current voltage characteristics visualization of the discharge indicate that the discharge is operating in the abnormal glow region. Keywords: gold target , gas discharge, glow discharge, plasma , dc sputtering. I. INTRODUCTION Dc glow discharges are widely applied for depositing thin films, etching, plasma polymerization, oxidation, and pumping gas discharge lasers, etc. Therefore the research into the conditions of the dc glow discharge is of considerable interest [1] [6]. Plasmas are ionized gases; hence, they consist of positive (and negative) ions and electrons, as well as neutral species. Therefore, the ignition of the dc glow discharge is one of the oldest problems in the study of low pressure gas discharges. The mechanism of the gas discharge can be explained as follows: When a sufficiently high potential difference is applied between two electrodes placed in a

Obviously, it was not a paleontological expedition but it quickly turned into one after the worker s backhoe slammed into a rock hard barrier. Though the man likely assumed it would be a major inconvenience for his job (such as bedrock or pipes), but he was in for quite the surprise. Amidst the dusty, dirty air, the skeletal remains of a new species of TyrannosaurusRex lay idly by just waiting to be discovered. That is right, the Qianzhousaurus Sinensis, in all the glory of its long snout, was revealed completely by accident. Paleontologists were aware of the T Rex and other similar dinosaurs for quite some time, but were unable to actually put together how and where they evolved from. There were questions that went unanswered because of a severe lack of uncovered fossils. It was very recent that the fossils were unearthed, and it has been filling the cracks of the unfinished puzzle ever since. So, is the Tyrannosaur famous merely because of the mystery of its evolution, or was it because of the dinosaur itself? Those questions are answered thoroughly in the article. The original discovery of the T Rex was more than a century ago, but the unique creature has still managed to remain the main attraction in the dinosaur world. The reason stems from the creature s mysterious family tree. The mighty Tyrannosaurus Rex is unlike any other dinosaur

Folktales are stories inspired by popular culture, typically passed on by word of mouth. The Egyptian Cinderella (the first version of Cinderella) is a folk tale that suggests breaking social and racial barriers. Fairy Tales are stories, like myths, that provide supernatural explanations of everyday events, often with a moral outcome, or the portrayal of justice. The Disney version of Cinderella is a fairy tale that implies mistreatment of people. These narratives share in common the idea of love conquers all. In the Egyptian Cinderella, Rosy Rhodopis was kidnapped from her home in Greece and taken to a house to work with other servant girls. She was considered a slave while the Egyptian girls were considered servants. They taunted and teased Rhodopis because she looked different to them. Their hair was straight and black while hers was golden and curly. They had brown eyes and hers were green. Their skin had the glow of copper, and she had pale skin that burnt easily in the sun. Since she was rejected by the other girls, she found friends among the animals, she loved to sing and dance for them. Her master was intrigued by her dancing that he rewarded her with a pair of slippers, the shoes were gilded with rose red gold and the soles were leather. Now the other servant girls could really hate her for they were jealous of her beautiful

It wrapped this technology in a seamlessly integrated iTunes type digital media platform that combined both transaction and subscription based content delivery. It partnered with content producers in innovative ways and created an open back end that allowed independent publishers to generate new content for the Kindle. In its first year, Amazon sold an estimated 500,000 Kindle. This article claims that this is due to the petrolatum that Pampers includes in their diapers for its moisturizing benefits. The article goes on to explain that this petrolatum could contain PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) which are carcinogenic to humans. Petrolatum is an off white, odorless, tasteless substance. It is often used in Vaseline, Mineral Wax and Paraffin Jelly for its moisturizing effects. It is classified as slightly hazardous when placed in direct contact with the eyes or ingested. These both seem to pose unlikely risks for your child, as the petrolatum is present inside the diaper, not just loosely available for ingestion or eye contact. The information from the survey dates back to 2009, and focuses specifically on Crime and Justice, and well as Society and Community. The data set consist of 554 different variables, and 19422 cases from all provinces within Canada excluding territories. The data was collected by Statistics Canada on behalf of those who have been victimized. Also known as Cycle 23, the data collected only survey those who were 15 years of age and above. The purpose of this survey is to understand how Canadians, through their experiences of victimization, perceive crime ad the justice system. Since not all provinces have the same population within, a sample was gathered from each province as a representative of the overall population. When analyzing the province of resident of each respondent, Ontario and Quebec have the largest samples because they consist of the largest populations. On the contrary, Newfoundland and Labrador, along with Prince Edward Island have the smallest samples because the population of those provinces are lower compared to other provinces. What Was The Difference Between Platt And Ward Both Platt and Ward do an excellent examination of critically going through what was happening in the Child Savings Movement and America s juvenile justice system. Platt and Ward gave me perspectives of beliefs, biases, practices, and institutions that existed during the inception of the juvenile justice system. I will be discussing one of the practices which is child labor and also I will be discussing about the orphan trains. Does punishment work? I will then be discussing reflectively about what I would have done to address this problem. Platt s view on the motivation of the child saving movement was interesting. He believed there was a middle class desire to control the dangerous and perishing classes. A push from middle class professionals working in the area to improve their status. The desire of middle class women to widen their sphere of influence. In 1969, Platt summarized three themes: (1) The child savers were not benevolent, because they imprisoned children for long periods of time under the pretext of protecting them from corrupting influences, (2) the ideal home setting was gauged by idealized middle or upper class standards that would be difficult for anyone to maintain, and (3) the child savers blurred the line between dependent and delinquent children, so any criminal child lost the right to due process and anybody who argued this point was treated as uniformed. Child labor was extremely terrifying during the child saving movement. These children were

A critical approach to drama written in verse requires the knowledge of not only of metre but also the function and purpose of the various figures of speech. These should never be only decoration because they are one of the means by which the playwright can develop and express his meaning. The various figures of speech have often been made interchangeable, thus a satisfactory definition of them is difficult to provide. In this technique, understanding is suggested not through conscious evaluations like those of a chorus aware of everything, a character specially endowed with authority, or the observers who interpret a central referent but through devices of speech that implicitly reveal a level of awareness beyond the speaker s own comprehension. By introducing changes of tone, images, allusions, ambiguous words, and variation in sound, or by making a speech from words, images, and symbols repeated or duplicated in other contexts, the dramatist breaks the barrier of human limitations of his individualized characters. Through these devices, the dramatist creates authoritative dramatic facts relevant to all the characters. None of these stylistic devices can function alone. They acquire their significance from the general context of the action, which, they in turn try help to elucidate through their own contributions. Each of these stylistic devices works with other devices, of language and structure, in provoking the spectators to view the action as a whole in a certain perspective. This lack of autonomy is especially true of the sound pattern into which the dramatist shapes his words, that is, the pattern produced by variations in stress and pitch, differences in the placement and duration of pauses, the relationships between individual words or lines, the presence or absence of rhyme, and the contrast of one speaking voice with another. While it is possible to isolate and describe this pattern, the resulting description can embody no specific meaning. The sound pattern may have only appropriateness, meaning that the emotion articulated by the content of expressive words determines their arrangement. Nevertheless, in many instances sound devices lead the spectator toward a clearer understanding of the situation presented. Rhyme implies a

An ending outcome might be determined by you ОњОїбї–ПЃО±О№, but only after the individual in question determines which branch they should climb upon. You made a dreadful and pitiful appearance in Shakespeare s tragedy of our dear Macbeth, in which you appeared to tell him of his destiny of regality after his acclamation to Thane of Cawdor. While this position of Thane was unbeknownst to him at the time, you only told him after the destiny was fulfilled; he was already Thane before you told him, yet he had not known. You did not predetermine this fate of his, for it had already come to fruition. You only gained accreditation by telling him that of which was already true! You cannot take credit for the acts that have already been consummated and present them as prediction. Macbeth brought the title of Thane of Cawdor upon himself through determination and free will; King Duncan bequeaths the position to Macbeth after he captures his traitorous predecessor. King Duncan states, What he hath lost, noble Macbeth hath won (Shakespeare. 1.2. 78). Yet, however, you falsifying fates caused him to believe that you were the sole factors in his title. • 42. Raising The State Taxes On Tobacco For years, in states such as, New York and Minnesota, they have attached high taxes to cigarettes in an attempt to both deter smokers and raise money for government programs. Missouri, however, has the lowest taxes on cigarettes in the United States; lower even than tobacco producing states such as Virginia and South Carolina. With many important state programs going unfunded, including transportation, increasing the tobaccotax could aid in the state debt of Missouri. Even former opponents of raising the taxes have begun expressing their own plans to move Missouri more in line with the rest of the nation. Raising taxes on tobacco for the state of the Missouri s unfunded projects could drastically open doors for more jobs for residents in the state. The raising of the tax can also fund for children initiatives and reduce the bad habits of smokingfor younger adults. In my opinion raising the state taxes on tobacco can help with countless causes for the state of Missouri and the cities. Raising the taxes on tobacco products can aid in the debt of not only the state of Missouri but for the entire country of the United States. Organizers of the Raise Your Hand for Kids campaign on Friday outlined their plan for a statewide ballot initiative to an audience of about 100 business, education, health and early childhood leaders at the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce. Anyone who has read the play knows that the plot has so many twists and turns that make it such an intriguing story. It begins with Hamlet being upset after his father dies of poison. Queen Gertrude, his mother, remarries quite quickly to Claudius, Hamlet s uncle. Queen Gertrude doesn t know that Claudius killed her original husband, but Hamlet assumes that she knows about the murder and that she remarried simply for sexual desire, which isn t the case. Hamlet s love for his mother quickly turns to hate because she is so innocent about the situation; he thinks she is pretending to not know. The increasing failure in relationships fuels Hamlet to plan revenge on King Claudius. He has to continually adjust his plan throughout the story when Claudius tries to get rid of him. Hamlet becomes so focused on plotting revenge on Claudius that he doesn t even notice that he abuses his mother s love for him and it ends up killing them both in the end. It drives him to forget about any emotions but those of hate towards the
  • 44. How Does Huckleberry Finn Show Civilization Has anyone ever tried to drill their beliefs into your cerebellum because they honestly think that their religion or behavior overpowers all? In the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, an uneducated rebellious kid named Huckleberry (Huck) Finn sees civilization as a repressing system where one must behave accordingly and be tied to a set of rules and how to s. As Huck is tormented and beaten by society s tainted morality and his own father, he sees no point in returning to civilization where he will be chained down by the degrading rules of a hypocritical world. In the beginning of the novel, Huck faces the harsh brutalities of civilization through his father, a drunk deadbeat man. Pap Finn is known as the town drunk who wears ragged... Even though they come out to be a splendid family, they own hundreds of slaves and are in constant battle with the Shepardsons, another family, for a reason that has been long forgotten. Through this constant feuding, it has drilled into the family members anger and a thrill in murdering each other. Society does not condemn the family in their actions because, as expected, they are white and follow the conventional status of having a higher power than black people. Huck witnesses the action that occurs once the feuding begins, and he recalls that watching the horror unfold made him sick. He says that, as they swum down the current the men along the bank shooting them and singing out, Kill them, kill them! It made me so sick I most fell out the tree. I ain t a going to tell all that happened ... I wish I hand t ever come ashore that night to see such things (112). As Huck recalls on his serene life on the river, he comes to conclusion that on land, hypocrisy and contradicting worlds go hand in hand. Families, such as the Grangerfords and the Shepardsons, exert confidence and represent dignity, but they contradict their very words by handing their
  • 45. Comparing League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Mary Reilly,... League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Mary Reilly, and Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde Robert Louis Stevenson s short novel, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde has spawned many retellings of Dr. Jekyll s tale, as well as variations on the theme. The Jekyll and Hyde conceit is one that lends itself to many different forms of literature, such as motion pictures and sequential art. Sometimes liberties are taken in reinterpretations of Mr. Hyde from the original text. This can be distinguished in two recent works, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, a comic book miniseries by Alan Moore and Kevin O Neill, and Mary Reilly, a film by Stephen Frears. In fact, as the movie progresses, Jekyll becomes hairier, due to his going about unshaven, but Hyde remains smooth faced; and he has smooth, well manicured hands, a contradiction to the original book. The only character that looks like a stereotypical Hyde in the movie is Mary s father, which goes to one of the themes the movie has; that of women in abusive relationships due to childhood experiences. The stature of Jekyll and Hyde in Stevenson s original tale were two different things. Hyde was a dwarfish man, as described by Utterson (41) and other people. This was highlighted on several occasions where Hyde was wearing Jekyll s clothing. Lanyon described

(Sieders, 2009). Wild Feeding Habits The Tyto species is unique with their heart shaped facial disc that reflects sounds waves to the inner ear. This ability allows the nocturnal predator to hunt in complete darkness. These attacks also come as a surprise to their prey, as they are able to perform silent flight with their fringed wing design. (Sieders, 2009). These owls possess a higher metabolic rate, eating more than most other owls. Their diet changes with prey availability rather than a change of season like some animals. In Australia, Sieders (2009) reports that their most common prey is the introduced long haired rat and the house mouse. Australia has had an infestation problem with these prey species. They have also been recorded eating small mammals, bats, baby rabbits, caterpillars, frogs, lizards, gophers, shrews, and voles. Smaller prey items are swallowed whole while the larger items can be torn into smaller pieces before consumption. (Sieders,
