Exhibit B Case Study
Should Exhibit B continue or be cancelled? What are the positive and negative outcomes about the
show? Should people be dehumanized and exhibited for the way they were born? What affects does
it have on the african community versus the rest of the population?
In my opinion the show should not be continued, because they are only using African american
actors, who as a community have already been dehumanized for centuries, because of the color of
their skins. (Exhibit B has been lauded by white, black and brown audiences and critics for the
powerful stance it takes against racism, the dehumanisation and objectification of black people, and
the sanitisation of the brutalities of European colonialism.) The moral of this featuring is the

Reaction (rate) between magnesium ribbon and hydrochloric...
Aim
It is to tell how the reaction between magnesium and hydrochloric acid will be effected if we
change the concentration of hydrochloric acid.
Introduction
In the experiment the magnesium reacts with the hydrochloric acid to create magnesium chloride
and hydrogen. The balanced formula for this is:
Mg(s) + 2HCL(aq) MgCl2(aq) + H2(g)
Magnesium + hydrochloric acid Magnesium Chloride + Hydrogen
Magnesium will react with hydrochloric acid, because it is higher in the reactivity series than
hydrogen. The magnesium displaces the hydrogen in the acid, so it forms magnesium chloride and
hydrogen gas.
There are many variables that I can change, which are the temperature and concentration of the
hydrochloric acid, and the mass and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The amount of hydrogen I will end up with when the reaction has completely finished will be the
same for all the concentrations, but if a reaction is too slow and exceeds the set time I will stop
taking results and it might not finish reacting.
Preliminary experiment
I was suggested to use 20cm3 of hydrochloric acid and 5cm of cleaned magnesium ribbon, and
take the volume of hydrogen in the syringe every 10 seconds for the preliminary experiment to. I
tried this but the reaction happened very quickly and the results of the volume of hydrogen were
very spread out. The results for each 10 second interval were not accurate enough and there was
not enough magnesium to get a high level of hydrogen. To solve this I increased the amount of
magnesium strip to 8cm, and decreased the time interval to 5 seconds each. I tried this and the
results were much more reliable to use and analyze.
Fair Test
To keep a fair test I will have to look into all the variables surrounding the experiment and only
change the variable that I am testing on. The other variables are the temperature of the acid at the
beginning, the volume of acid, the surface area of the magnesium strip, the length of the
magnesium strip and if the magnesium strip is cleaned or not.
The magnesium strips were cleaned and cut correctly by the lab technician and I measured and
inspected the strip each time I started the experiment to make sure it was ok for the experiment.
Most of these variables

Criminology Personal Statement
I have had a passion to be a Forensic psychologist since the early years of high school which is an
important contributor for me choosing to study criminology. I believe that the skills and
knowledge I gain and learn from this unit will be beneficial for me in the future as well as help me
gain an insight into the study relating to law and illegal acts. I have gained sources of information
about crimeand criminality in both tv shows and movies. One particular show is How to get away

professor who are involved in numerous murder incidents that change the course of their lives. The

what if a well known and a apparently constant characteristic of matter starts behaving

elements are changing. This is especially mysterious as we are talking about elements with
constant decay rates these rates aren t supposed to change . One may ask what does this has to do

Detecting and Responding to Malicious Misbehavior in...
INTRODUCTION Owing to the developed technology and cheap prices, wireless networks have
increased more preferences over wired networks in the previous few decades.Mobile Ad hoc
Network (MANET) is agroup of mobile nodes armed with both a wirelesstransmitter and a receiver
that connect with each othervia bidirectional wireless links either directly or indirectly. One of
themajor benefits of wireless networks is it allows data to be communicated between different
parties and still maintaintheir movement. The main factor in this type of communication is range
of transmitters. That is the node which is outside the range of one node cannot communicate with
the other node which is outside its range. This difficulty in MANET is resolved by letting... Show

A)WATCHDOG Watchdog is a technique used for intrusion detection in Mobile ad hoc

Porter s Five Force Analysis
This Michael Porter s five force analysis of Starbucks coffee shows the intensity of the five
strengths of the firm, and the bases of these powers. Starbucks coffee s prosperity shows its viability
in tending to these outside elements in its industrial surroundings. However, this five forces
investigation highlights current industry conditions that force present and developing concerns
significant to StarbucksCoffees business. Following are the five forces of Michael Porter s model.
These five forces have different intensities or powers on the basis of the market position of
Starbucks.
(1)Competitive rivalry or competition (strong force)
(2)Threat of substitutes or substitution (strong force)
(3)The bargaining power of buyers or customers (strong force)
(4)Threat of new entrants or new entry (moderate force)
(5)The bargaining power of suppliers (weak force)
Competitive Rivalry or Competition According to Maverick (2015), marketplace rivalry from
significant opponents is the strongest business sector constrain that Starbucks needs to address. In
spite of the fact that it holds a preeminent position in the coffeehouse market segment, there is
intense rivalry from competitors, for example, Dunkin Brands Group and McDonald s. Like its
real rivals, Starbucks advertising technique has depended vigorously on setting up an exceptionally
solid brand personality and brand reliability sufficiently to encourage customers to pay a sensible
premium price for its items.

Jim Crow, By John Crow Essay
Jim Crow was a character portrayed in Minstrelsy shows to be goofy, drunk, lazy, and
uneducated. This character set a very harsh stereo type for African Americans. Jim Crow
became a common racial slur. According to Dr. David Pilgrim of Ferris State University by
1838, the term Jim Crow was being used as a slur for African Americans which was not as
offensive as nigger, but more similar to coon or darkie (Pilgrim, David, Dr. Who Was Jim Crow.
). According to PBS Jim Crow was named after a popular 19th century minstrel song that
stereotyped African Americans, Jim Crow came to personify the system of government sanctioned
racial oppression and segregation in the United States ( The Rise and Fall of Jim Crow. PBS.).
The Jim Crow character created by Thomas Dartmouth Daddy Rice along with the song and dance
created an image or stereotype of the African Americanman that helped reinforce the belief that
African Americans were lazy, stupid, and overall less human. Therefore, they were unworthy of
integration (Pilgrim, David, Dr. Who Was Jim Crow. ). This idea set the stage for the Jim Crow laws.
The song Jim Crow written by Rice started off like this
Come listen all you galls and boys,
I m going to sing a little song,
My name is Jim Crow.
Weel about and turn about and do jis so,
Eb ry time I weel about I jump Jim Crow.
As shown above even the lyrics of the song had an accent to them that portrayed a person who was
uneducated. One of the Jim Crow

The Scottsboro Trials, Brown v. Mississippi, and trial of Tom Robinson in Harper Lee s To Kill a
Mockingbird
The purpose of this essay is to compare three very similar cases, the Scottsboro Trials, Brown v.
Mississippi, and the fictional trial of Tom Robinson in Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird; and to
prove why the defendant of the third trial never had a chance. Each took place in the rural South in
the 1920 s and 30 s and involved the unfair conviction of young black males by all white juries
pressured by the threat of mob violence. Each lacked the evidence sufficient for conviction, most
especially for the death penalty. Last, heroes emerged from each trial and made small but solid
steps towards equal justice for all. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Price had conveniently washed her step ins and though six men allegedly raped her, not a one got
any semen on her coat. The Supreme Court granted the Scottsboro boys new trials on the grounds
that they did not receive adequate legal counsel. In this second round of trials, presided by Judge
James E. Horton, Ruby Bates denied that she or Victoria Price had ever been raped (To Kill a
Mockingbird: Then and Now).
The hero in this case was Judge Horton. Despite public opinion in the region, Horton overturned the
conviction of the jury, an unprecedented act. He wrote a thoughtful essay of the improbability of
the crime and examined what evidence should have resulted from it. Very little of this expected
evidence actually appeared and thus Judge Horton declared:
It is therefore ordered and adjudged by the Court that the motion be granted; that the verdict of the
jury in this case and the judgment of the Court sentencing this defendant to death be, and the same
hereby is, set aside and that a new trial be and the same is hereby ordered. (To Kill a Mockingbird:
Then and Now).
Judge Horton had run unopposed in the previous two elections, but shortly thereafter, Judge Horton
lost the next election.

A Brief Note On Companies And The Largest Ever Consumer...
Case Study #2: Maxxed Out: TJX Companies and the Largest Ever Consumer Data Breach
There are five components to the operations security process that companies use to analyze. These
five modules provide a company a full analysis of the risks, vulnerabilities, and threats of their data
and how to mitigate them. This process identifies all the critical information the company or
organization have such a credit card information like TJX had on their main server. Identifying this
information is crucial so the business knows what valuable assets, or data is being stored. If a
company does not recognize this material, the material is unprotected.

Also, TJX did not apply counter measures in place of those defined vulnerabilities or threats which
costed the company huge losses. If the company implemented the WPA securityprotocol, the risks
could have been small.
There are multiple methods to improve the security at TJX to prevent future breaches. The network
wireless system should be upgraded to Wi Fi Protected Access2, WPA2, from WEP. WPA2
provides the most secure protocol that is available on a wireless network. WPA2 uses Advanced
Encryption Standard to encrypt all the data when the data is in motion. AES encryption takes a
hacker months, even years to break. If the company wants customers to have free Wi Fi then have
two separate networks in which one is has a network password and other just requires a login with
terms and conditions.
For the wired/wireless connections, TJX can institute a virtual private network, or VPN, to connect
with the servers that have sensitive information. This allows the connection between the servers
and device to be secure but the data is not. VPN does have limitation such as devices, but is an
alternative to WPA2 and better than WEP. VPN is ideal for documents such as sales reports,
inventory, and strategies. TJX must implement these standards on all of the retail locations to
safeguard all the data being processed throughout the business day.

Documentary And Narrative Filmmaking
What makes documentary filmmaking distinct to narrative filmmaking? There are a few
contrasting objectives for both types of filmmaking that distinguishes them from each other.
Simply put, narrative filmmaking is a movie with a pre written script, actors and a story which is
already crafted before they start shooting. while documentaries are filmmaking where real life
events are captured, and a script is usually written afterwards. Narrative films rely on the three act
structure which goes Setup, Confrontation and Resolution or in other words, a beginning, middle
and end. The main aim for the three act structure is for the story to develop while the stakes get
risker for our characters, so they evolve as the movie goes on. Narrative film... Show more content

Focusing on the 9/11 terrorist attack and how the Bush administration handled it. Many believed
Moore had an agenda against President George W. Bush while making the film and edited the
movie to show the audience what he wanted them to see. The opening lines from Moore in the
film are, We worked hard on creating a work of cinema that would move people not just
politically but on an emotional and visceral level. I hope we have made a contribution to this art
form we love so much. Unfortunately for Moore, debate sparked over Moore s true intentions
while making this film. Many believed it was to attack Bush who was running for re election in
2004 as the movie was due for release around the same time Bush began campaigning. The crux of
the debate surrounding the film involved Moore s satirical styling. Some argued Moore tried too
hard to make his movie entertaining and, in the process, would often distort pieces of information.
(Bryd, 2017) This is yet another possible example of filmmakers showing the audience what they
want to see and not the complete truth. While it is not proven that Moore did bend the truth,
therefore it is nearly impossible to create a comprehensive code of ethics when making a
documentary because Filmmakers can and sometimes will break the rules to show what they want
to, be it to expose the truth or a personal

Cancer Stem Cell Thesis
Isolation of Cancer Stem Cells through their Dielectrophoretic Signature
Thesis
The purpose of this research article is to create a microfluidic device that can isolate and separate
cancer stem cells from regular cancer cells in blood.
Background
In spite of all the achievements and advances in the medical field, cancer stays as one of the leading
causes of death worldwide. Cancer is an umbrella term for groups of diseases that are all
characterized by uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells [1]. These abnormal cells are cells that are
either mutated or damaged in such a way that natural mechanisms for checking cell growth are no
longer efficient for containing their growth. If these unusual cells are allowed to multiply
unchecked, severe health issues will arise possibly leading to death. Cancer can result from both
external factors including tobacco usage, virus infections, chemicals, and radiation, as well as from
internal factors such as hormones and inherited mutations [1].
Approach ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These cells are said to behave very similarly to normal stem cells in that they have the ability to self
renew and differentiate into more specialized cell types. In the case of the CSCs, they are capable
of replicating themselves and eventually differentiating into the more commonly known tumor cells
[2]. Currently, no cure for cancer exists but various cancer treatments and therapies do exist. These
typically involve surgery, immune therapy, targeted therapy, hormone therapy, or chemotherapy
.
Many of these treatments focus heavily on killing rapidly dividing and growing cells, which is
characteristic of most cancer cells. Therefore, people aspire to isolate these rare CSCs from normal
rapidly dividing cancer cells in order to study them further to cure

Pregnancy is a new stage in a woman s life that can involve a number of complexities, which can
affect the mother or baby, or both. Multiple birth is a complexity of pregnancy that is becoming
increasingly more prevalent in today s society. The incidence of multiple birth has a great effect on
the mother and offspring, not only physically but also socially and emotionally. These effects
include emotional instability as a result of child maltreatment, the increased risk of congenital
malformation causing emotional and social problems and a wider social impact on the health care

The incidence of congenital malformations in multiple births is up to 4 times higher than that of
singleton births (Menasinkai Chiniwar, 2013). Corsello and GiuffrГЁ (2012) define congenital
malformations as single or multiple defects of the morphogenesis of organs or body districts
identifiable at birth or during intrauterine life. The whole family and their quality of life are
impacted when a child is born with birth defects, particularly emotionally. Parents of children
with congenital malformations face a unique challenge in adjusting and learning to care for them
appropriately. Post diagnosis of congenital malformation, the parents often go through the typical
stages of grief very similar to if they had lost the child. This is recognized as a part of the process
and it is normal for parents to mourn the loss of what they expected to be a healthy child
(Lemacks, Fowles, Mateus, Thomas, 2013). The parent s emotional and mental health can be
adversely impacted and as a result suffer depression and anxiety, which can have a devastating
effect on the entire family (Song et all., 2012). Siblings and parent s interaction outside the family
can be hugely affected with parents frequently being unable or unwilling to take part in particular
social activities. Grief counseling is shown to help

The Government Of North Korea
An oppressive government is more to be feared than a tiger. Confucius Many people believe that a
dystopian government will only happen in the distant future but, they do not know that nowadays,
many governments function in a similar way to those governments depicted in the future. In
particular, the government of North Korea. The North Korean government limits the freedom of
speech and the press. Even your basic human rights are denied by the government. Their rights are
repressed. In North Korea, all the agencies of education and propaganda are controlled by the
government. Schools, colleges, radio, films and newspapers are all controlled by the government.
They are only exposed to what the government wants them to know. The people of North Korea
have limited food and resources. The citizens have very little or no say on who is elected to rule the
country. There is national glorification for their leader. The North Korean government is just like a
dystopian government only, it is not in the future. In the book Surviving Antarctica, it states how
the government controlled the people and how it limited their human rights. Right now we can see
how the Korean government acts much like a dystopian government.
Even though, the North Korean government claims that their citizens are treated impartially with
none of their rights prohibited, this is fallacious. The media of North Korea is one of the most
firmly controlled in the world. The press is strictly restrained by the

The And Gold Tour Bus From Louisiana State University
On Losing Everything
This past week I saw that purple and gold tour bus from Louisiana State University in my town,
not only surprising me but also forcing me to think back on my childhood in the south. Growing
up in southern Louisiana one must be prepared for major storms and flooding at less than a day s
notice. Hurricanes are powerful storms that can ravish towns and can be deadly for people and
animals alike. Hurricane Katrina tore through the Gulf Coast in August of 2005, and I was in the
midst of that wreckage. My family and I were living in a small, close knit community, named St.
Amant, about an hour west of New Orleans. On the third day of the hurricane, my family

In no way do I mean to trivialize the severe and deadly effects hurricanes can potentially bring, but
not all hurricanes are the same. Most storms that would make it to the area I used to live usually
lost strength by the time it got to us. For the weaker storms, the kids would get a mini vacation
from school, and the parents got a much needed break from work. At the time, I thought everyone
in Louisiana and especially New Orleans were not ready for what was coming. Louisiana is a
laid back state, due to its French roots. The catch phrase for the state was always Laissez Les
Bon Temps rouler, or Let the good times roll! So, it s easy to see why the media portrayed
Louisianan s as not caring about the tropical storm that was headed our way. We did care, we
were just expecting much less than what we received. I think a good way to describe this is that
people from California have been through many earthquakes and are prepared for them, but
would you stop living your life for a small earthquake that might not happen? Probably not. My
family tried to be as prepared as we possibly could, but there is only so much money to go around
buying things for situations that might not even happen. My dad purchased our first gasoline
generator earlier that year which sadly put a dent into our emergency savings. Nevertheless, we
had enough supplies, water, and food to last about a week if necessary. From my memories, about a

at male adolescents, focusing on the science of science fiction whilst following youthful education

the attitude that his young protagonists portrayed, calling Heinlein s political views strongly
authoritarian and fascist. On the other hand, Verhoeven s ideology is exactly the opposite. Rather
than downplaying these fascist elements of Heinlein s novel, Verhoeven decides to play them up,
giving the film s incipient Nazism an admiring positive spin (Cass, 1999, p. 56), hence mocking the

Leadership And Commitment Of Senior Management Essay
Leadership and Commitment
Senior management leadership and commitment forms a key element of this model. A successful
OSH risk management strategy must be driven by senior Management. This is the level of
management mandated to make critical decisions on policy development of an organization. Risk
management is most effective when it is integrated into the initial stages of business and strategic
planning. In Australia the public service legislation places an emphasis on high levels of
professional leadership and expertise; and performance management, and accountability in devolved
management framework (Commonwealth of Australia, 2005). In a study done to establish safety
standards in Borabu District in Kenya it was found that 36% of head teachers indicated that Board
of Governors were uncooperative in improving safety standards. (Migiro, 2012). Training
institutions like other organizations must be led by senior management that is committed to safety.
2.3.1.2 Active Involvement of all workers
Active involvement of all workers in the workplace ensures success of any OHS management
program, and helps to develop a safety culture in the workplace. Open communication between
management and workers support OSH activities. Employees provide critical OSH information as
they are often in the immediate work area and identify hazards. They can provide valuable advice
about risks and possible solutions (Commonwealth of Australia, 2005). In Kenya the OSH Policy

Compare And Contrast Odysseus And Harry Potter
Escaping from a man eating cyclops is no easy task, and neither is fighting the Dark Lord
himself. Odysseus is a very intelligent and motivated man who is the King of Ithaca. He fights in
the Trojan war but gets stuck sailing on the sea searching for his way home. Harry Potter is also a
very intelligent boy. At a very young age his parents were killed by Lord Voldemort
. Voldemort
attempted to kill Harry too, but failed, making Harry the boy who lived. On Harry s 11th
birthday, he received many letters inviting him to attend Hogwarts, a School of Witchcraft and
Wizardry. A man named Hagrid comes to take him and that is where Harry s journey begins.
They are pretty similar, but in some ways they differ. Some similarities are that they use their
wits and strengths to get their way through problems, and they both have a desire to see their
family. But they also differ in the way that their goals are completely different, Odysseus wants to
get home to Ithaca, and Harry wants to stay as far away from his home, with the Dursleys as
possible. So they use their brain as a problem solver, they have a longing for their family, but they
both want to go in a different direction.

Theme Of Justice In The Oresteia
Finding Peace Within Justice If you want peace, work for justice. Pope Paul VI. The Oresteia
trilogy, which contains the plays Agamemnon, The Libation Bearers, and The Furies, uses justice
as its dominant theme. Aeschylus wrote these plays sometime after the end of the Persian wars,
around 449 BC, when the star of Athens was on its superiority. It was the commencement of a
new era, marked by the establishment of a new social and political order built on democracy and
the rule of law. The rule of law designed the institutionalization of justice. Justice was not a
personal responsibility to be handed out according to the rule of family dispute of blood for blood
anymore. It was now a state responsibility representing the community as a whole that the law was
set down. It was an advancement in the direction of realizing a more peaceful and orderly existence.

In the first play, Agamemnon, Clytemnestra murders Agamemnon to retaliate for the sacrifice he
made of their daughter, Iphigenia. Clytemnestra did this out of revenge, since the code of getting
even demanded that someone s murder must be avenged by their close blood relative. This called
for torment at the hands of the Furies, who were female divinities of a terrible frightening aspect,
that came upon anyone who murdered a close blood relative. In the second play, The Libation
Bearers, Orestes kills Clytemnestra to avenge the murder of Agamemnon. This act is still
maintaining the revenge principle, but it is committed primarily at the instigation of Apollo.
Apollo takes center stage in the third play, The Furies, to argue in defense of Orestes in a trial
supervised by Athena. This ultimately leads to the end of revenge killing and the establishment of
a new order of justice based on the laws of the

The Unbearable Lightness Of Being Character Analysis
The Unbearable Lightness of Being is written by Milan Kundera, a Czech novelist. It is mostly
set in late 1960 s Prague. The novel explores the state of life after the Russian military occupation
of Prague. The author does not follow a chronological order throughout the novel, which is a
reflection of how disorderly life is. It is a time of conflict both spiritually and physically. People
start to question the meaning of lifeif there is any meaning at all. Kundera begins the novel by
refusing both Nietzsche s interpretation of eternal return and Parmenides classification of lightness
as positive and weight as negative. Then he argues the point that lightness is unbearable and proves
his point through his observations of the four main characters ... Show more content on

He begins by explaining Nietzsche s interpretation of the concept of eternal return . Then, he tries to
prove that the concept does not exist for humans outside the realm of paradise. Thus, it is
unachievable. Later on he rejects Parmenides classification of lightness as positive and weight as
negative. Kundera believes that lightness may seem initially freeing and sweet but this sweetness
disintegrates gradually and eventually becomes unbearable. On the other hand categorizing one
theory as unbearable does not necessarily make the other bearable. If Kundera rejects both lightness
and weight; identifying them as extremities, where does that leave human beings? Do they choose
lightness, weight or maybe a little of both? These questions are not directly answered but are

Challenging American Bridge
Challenging American Bridges
Choosing the right type of structure in bridges is one of the main challenges of the civil
engineering while building one of them. The structure types can be arch, beam, truss, suspension
and cable stayed. Among this diversity of designs, two important bridges of the United States are
the already constructed Mike O Callaghan Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge, which is an arch bridge
that connects Nevada and Arizona above the Colorado River; and the St. Anthony Parkway Bridge,
which is a truss bridge that will replace an existing one on the same place and is being built above
one of the main rails of the United States in Minneapolis; the bridge is going to be finished in
2017. The differences between the two bridges are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hecox (2011) says that the arch structure of the Tillman Bridge makes the canyon walls hold the
weight of both vehicles and the bridge itself. In addition, the arch structure allows a better vision
of the canyon for the drivers, which was a request of the population to the engineers of the project.
In the other hand, according to Jones (2015), the truss structure of the new St. Anthony Bridge also
was requested by the population because they wanted to keep a truss bridge in that place. The
author also affirms that the St. Anthony Bridge is a truss, but the project team proposed adding a
posttensioned concrete bottom chord to the steel truss in order to reinforce it. The project team
made this choice because one bridge in Minnesota has collapsed in 2007, and the engineers wanted
to lessen the fracture critical issues to avoid a new catastrophe. In addition, this posttensioning
approach wiil make the structure redundant for both resiliency and long term durability. In
conclusion, both bridge s structures were right chosen in order to provide safety and beauty in both

Legalization Of Marijuana And The State Of Arizona
Legalization of Marijuana in ArizonaThe Legalization of Marijuana in the state of Arizona has
been under fire for the past several years. Ever since 2010 when Prop 203, which called the right
to have a medical marijuana card in the state, arose it caused a stir in society on which to allow
marijuana to be legal. The ballot for the state is set in November and as we approach the
deadline many people are coming out with their takes on the issue. The legalization of marijuana
has many positive and negative effects on society that make it a tough decision for many voters.
Marijuana has been a commonly used medication for thousands of years, the oldest written
record of the use of marijuana is 2727 B.C.E. in china, up until 2003 when marijuana was
classified as a Schedule 1 controlled substance by the Controlled Substance Act which prohibited
use and sale of the substance. This act caused major controversy and sparked many scientific
experiments that are still going on today to try to understand the drug. The legalization of
marijuana in other states has increased access to and acceptability of this drug for both medicinal
and recreational purposes. In the absence of well designed research and FDA approval, this creates
unique challenges for both practitioners and regulators alike. Doctors are being pressured to
recommend medical marijuana based off of the requests of the users. The regulations that have been
put on marijuana are extremely loose fitting and hard to control

Role Of Gladiatorial Sports In Roman Times

Sports During The Roman Time Period During the Roman Times from (31 BCE to 476 CE)
sports were both things that many did in their daily life and as well as Roman Fighting games.
Not all Roman games were violent and played by men. Many Roman kids would swim, ride
horses, hunt and fish, play board games during their leisure time. Sports were very important to the
Romans because some had a religious meaning to them. Gladiatorial games in Ancient Rome and
modern sports have more in common than some would think. Violence has been a key component
to the success of each of these games. Many spectators watched as the Coliseum was filled with
blood from brutal gladiatorial matches. These days, hundreds of people watch two men fight in a
boxing ring. After thinking about gladiatorial games and looking at modern sports see similarities
between the two. The Romans believed that they inherited the practice of gladiatorial games from
the Etruscans who used them as part of a funeral ritual. The first gladiatorial games were offered in
Rome in 264 BCE by sons of Junius Brutus Pera in their father s honor. Even though this ritual

Women Should Not Fly Commercial Or Private
After starting flight lessons and seeking a pilots license one of the researchers became aware of
the ridicule and negative perceptions that women face in the field aviation. Chances are that when
you fly commercial or private that you will not be flying with a female pilot in command. Aviation
is a field that continues to be a males career with females making up only five percent of the
industry (Goyer, 2016). This particular area tends to focus on being a male s career choice and
lacking in the advancements for women. Different stereotypes, genderroles, and opinions are all
factors in determining a good pilot. Although women have proven their worth and ability,
prejudices such as women should not fly and a woman in the cockpit is one less in the kitchen are
still evident.
Given the importance of the topic at hand, it is necessary to better understand why negative ideas
exist. Although women have made advances in the field in the past, it has become stagnant within
the last decade. This study is to be done during a years length where researchers will interview
Certified Flight Instructors (CFI) with more than 200 flight time hours, Pilots in training (PIT) and
those of private and commercial license holders. This study will entail extensive interviews, and
incorporate flight simulation. Researchers will look at entry level pilots and compare it those upon

How Did The Great Train Robbery Essay
The Great Train Robbery No crime in British history has ever come close to the Great Train

Themes Of Oppression In Crown Of Midnight By Sarah J Maas
Celaena heard it now as if for the first time, the story of a Fae blessed with a horrible, profound
power that was sought by kings and lords in every kingdom. While they used her to win wars and
conquer nations, they all feared her―and kept their distance (118). Sarah J Maas is an American
Author best recognized for her Throne of Glass series. Its second installment, Crown of Midnight,
follows Celaena as she spars with her loyalty. One grievous night forces her to choose allies and
foes. To emphasize the focal idea, Maas utilizes themes of rebellion, oppression, and death.
First and foremost, a crucial theme embedded is rebellion. The King of Adarlan is recognized as a
megalomaniac, from his own son to the prisoners in Callaculla. He is on a quest to conquer all of
Erilea. But in order to do so, he is in need of somebody to do all of his dirty work, and that is when
Celaena comes into the light. Her task is to kill the King s enemies. Conversely, she disobeys
direct orders. I haven t killed any of the people the king commanded me to assassinate (184).
When she consults it with her friend Chaol, he is livid. If the king finds out, he will force Chaol
to kill Celaena as punishment for being her friend. Chaol attempts to talk sense into Celaena by
calling those men traitors to the crown. She scoffs, Traitors. For refusing to grovel before a
conqueror? For sheltering escaped slaves trying to get home? For daring to believe in a world that
s better than this gods forsaken

Students with one or fewer characteristics are minimally traditional, two to three characteristics are
moderately traditional, and having four or more characteristics define highly Non Traditional
students. (Hoyt, Howell, Young Wygant 2010)
For highly Non Traditional learners there are several factors that can negatively impact their lives.
Lack of time, including child rearing and full time work that limits time and opportunity is often
cited as a major constraint. Additionally, highly Non Traditional learners are significantly less
active in campus activities and are less involved in the the general college experience. Hoyt,
Howell, Young Wygant s 2010 study found that Non Traditional students were Less likely than
traditional students to participate in other academically related activities such as organized off
campus study opportunities (10% versus 17% ) and forums, seminars, galleries, and recitals related
to their major (49% versus 56%).
Student involvement on campus is viewed by higher education institutions as an important metric
in predicting academic achievement. While GPA does not assess specific learning outcomes, it
can be used as a factor to assess academic success. A study at Purdue Universityfound that students
who are involved in student organizations having statistically higher GPAs than the general student

immaculate on pain of a flogging (119). The author suggests, The uniform of the British soldier in
1775 might have been designed by some demonic tailor who had sworn sartorial vengeance upon
the human frame (118).
The military uniforms of the British also radiated a uniquely British quality. An air of superiority
was apparent in the dress of the British. The red coats were elaborately embellished with lace,
wings, buttons, loops, knots and incongruous heart shaped badges on the coattail (121). This
illustrates the gentility and superiority that the British felt was inherant in them. Instead of wearing
the crudely put together uniforms of the various militias, the British attempted to exude an air of
confidence that was repugnant to the Americans.
Hackett Fischer goes to great lengths to establish this feeling of superiority that was prevelant

The Principles Of Radio Dequency Identification
The acronym RFID stands for Radio frequency Identification, which is one of the most prominent
technologies being used in the modern lifestyle, which has wide range of applications like
enabling physical security in an enterprise, tracking objects/merchandise on a shop floor etc. A
general RFID System has a Reader and Tags. The RFIDtags are nothing but small sized
transponders, which store small amount of data which can be either information about the product
that is being tracked or any unique serial number directly fed into it and the information can be
read multiple times by the reader . The RFID reader which is a two way trans reciever uses the
radio waves which enabling wirelesstransfer of data between tags and the reader.

the energy from electromagnetic field of the reader into an RF wave that is transmitted into the

Passive RFID tags find eligibility in applications which require low range of detection like access

classification called Battery assisted passive tags . These tags have a small on board batteries
which get activated in the presence of an RFID reader.
It is clear that the above classification is based on the availability of power source in the RFID
tag. Also it is known that the tags contain vital data regarding the object that is being tracked. The
memory in the tags can be either a read only type of memory (a unique serial code embedded into
the chip) or a read write/ programmable memory type in which the data in the tag can be written by
the end user.

because they have no family nearby and the land is unfamiliar. The climate is also different, it is
winter time and the weather is cold. Ashima is learning very quickly that the living conditions are
different. Ashoke explains to her that they have gas twenty four hours a day, and the difference
between hot and cold water symbols. Also there was no need for her to boil the water for drinking;
she could just drink straight from the tap. Life in America is different and at times lonely, however
Ashoke believes it s the land of opportunity. When Ashima... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The clashes are both cultural and generation based. Teenagers in any culture choose not to listen to
their parents, and play loud music as Gogol did in the movie. The Ganguli home is often filled
with Bengali family and friends, and that provides a support system for Ashoke and Ashima. It
makes the Ganguli s feel like they did when they were in India, surrounded by family. Gogol
receives some advice from his aunt before leaving for college. She tells him to have fun, but
come home and marry a Bengali woman. After Gogol leaves home, he meets Maxine who is
American in every sense of the word. She is in the upper social class, and Gogol is attracted to
her family because they are American. They call Gogol, Nick short for Nikhil. He distances
himself from his parents by not returning phones calls, and upsets Ashima when he would rather
visit Maxine s parents than his own. Gogol does decide to stop at his parents on the way to visit
Maxine s, out of possible guilt for not keeping in touch. Gogol introduces Maxine, and she calls
Ashima by her first name. It s apparent that is not the respectful introduction Ashima would have
preferred. Again, a clash in cultures, and what s considered appropriate. Gogol and Maxine leave,
and Maxine states she would ve never guessed those were his parents. Gogol celebrates his birthday
with Maxine s family and his mother cannot get in

Why People Have Joint Pain
Why Many People have Joint Pain and How to Help Ease It As people age they begin to feel that
they are experiencing pain in their joints more so than they did during their youth. There can be
many reasons for this pain. Or can it be just a part of ageing. During our youth we don t pay
much attention to how hard we played, what we eat, or if we took vitamins. Our mothers for the
most part were responsible for what we eat, how much sleep we got, and in general how well we
take care of ourselves. As children our bodies are pretty resilient and other than broken bones,
skinned knees, bumps, and bruises pretty much heal and go away without any need or concern
to see a physician. Years ago mothers made sure that we got the proper amount of sleep, which
for the most part once we got to sleep our bodies took care of how much sleep we got all by its
self, for most children that was anywhere from 8 to 10 hours a night if undisturbed. Most
children got a balanced diet, some even got a daily vitamin or eat foods that were enriched in
vitamins such as cereal and milk. A lot of kids ate in the cafeteria at school. Schools did their
best to make sure that the lunches were well balanced. Children for the most part played outside
for recess which usually involved some sort of running, hopping, skipping, or throwing a ball. And
when they got home after some kind of snack they couldn t wait to get out to ride their bike, or
play some sort of game that normally again

Creation And The Persistence Of Evil By Levenson
In Creation and the Persistence of Evil , Levenson asserts that God s divine omnipotence
originates from his battle with rather than banishment of evil. There are a few textual facts to
consider in analysis of this statement. In an initial class discussion, we examined the fact that
God did not create evil. He created what was and what had the potential to be good (e.g. light,
man), separating it from what is deemed as evil (e.g. darkness). For instance, he did not create the
tree of knowledge of good and evil, but instead drew boundaries. Yet this concept from Genesis
conflicts with one that arises in Psalms 104:26. This verse states that Godcreated the Leviathan, a
sea monster, and later kills him in a battle ( thou brakest the heads of

The Corrupting Influence Of Corporations On Politics
The Corrupting Influence of Corporations on our Politics
As one of the very first political bosses of the modern era once said, There are two things that are
important in politics. The first is money, and I can t remember the second (Bartlett, 2009). Even
president elect Donald Trump once said in 2015, I gave to many people...When I need something
from them two years later...they are there for me. And that s a broken system (Schwarz, 2015).
The issue of money in politics has been widely recognized for decades by many and little has been
done about it. The president elect recognized it was an issue, yet participated nonetheless.
The elimination of political expenditures by corporations is necessary in order to restore the
principle of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People can express their opinion by giving money to some organization or even a political
candidate in order to further their own ideas. Sometimes this medium is the only one where the
feel their voice is actually heard. Therefore, it is logical for people to be allowed to donate to any
organization that they believe shares their deeply held convictions. But contrary to the decision of
Supreme Court in the Citizens United case that Spending is speech, and is therefore protected by
the Constitution even if the speaker is a corporation, corporations are not citizens which should be
protected under the constitution (Dunbar, 2012). They are large entities that are made up of
potentially thousands that could not possibly share all of the same beliefs. Therefore, corporations
should not be allowed to give unlimited sums of money to organizations that then perform
electioneering communications ads that advocate for a candidate s election or defeat (Epstein,
2015). This money is likely coming from the top executives only and does not represent every
single employee or shareholder. This type of donation labels every employee from a corporation as
supporting the recipient of the donation, but that could never be true in a corporation of any
substantial size. This legalization of corruption can be traced back to two landmark Supreme Court
cases: First National Bank of Boston v. Bellotti and Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission
(FEC). The former was the first

Essay On Mining Moving Object
There have been many recent studies on mining moving object. These studies have focused on two
categories of research: moving object cluster discovery and trajectory clustering. Moving objects
clustering means a group of object travels together where locations are not defined. Trajectory
clustering refers a group of locations based on similar objects traveling though traveling time is not
considered. Li et al. cite{li2010swarm}, propose the concept of temporal moving objects swarms,
which captures the moving objects move within an arbitrary shape of clusters for certain
timestamps that are non consecutive. Laube et al. cite{laube2002analyzing} first introduced flock
and the flock was further studied in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Trajectory clustering with probabilistic modeling of a set of trajectories is proposed in
papercite{gaffney2007probabilistic}. Whole trajectories may miss interesting common paths in
sub trajectories. Lee et al. cite{lee2007trajectory} proposed a partition and group framework that
finds out an interesting common path in sub trajectories. Mao et al. cite{mao2016mining}
proposed mining spatiotemporal patterns of urban dwellers from taxi trajectory data. The method
involves three critical steps that are discover potentially meaningful locations using spatial
clustering of taxi origin destination, identifying perfect parameter values to extract jobs housing
urban infrastructure and visualization of this spatial distribution and temporal trends of the
revealed urban infrastructure. Another swarms mining method on big spatiotemporal trajectories
using MapReduce cite{yu2016mr} has been proposed to mine swarm pattern. They propose a
parallel model based on timeset independent property where data sets are divided based on time and
creates local swarm patterns. Even though, combining these local swarms, global swarms have been
created. Our observation is that partitioning datasets based on time lost data consistence and
significant number of patterns removed from local swarms and in addition in huge number of
datasets, map and reduce process takes extra time for mapping and reducing. Chen et al.

Pros And Cons Of A Car
Car is one of the basic transportations that are needed by us. It goes along with trains, buses, ships,
airplanes, and any other means of transportations, which help people travel to different places
without so much effort and time wasted.
In ancient times, people only walk if they wanted to go to a different place, while others are using
horses to make the journey faster. However, not all of them are rich enough to have a horse. As
time passes by, few people were born with gifted minds and were able to discover and invent the
train. And without people noticing, new technologies were introduced in different aspects such as
communications, machineries, transportations, etc.
Car is the result of those never ending innovations in transportation technology. Every year, new car
models with unique and specific functions are released and introduced to the public. From the

Because of these, many rental car companies penalize even those young drivers with good records
by restricting some type of cars that will be rented, charging high daily fees and sometimes,
banning some drivers to rent a car.
In most times, drivers at the age of 18 to 21 are impossible to rent since they are renting a car under
25 years of age. But now, if you are in the ages between 21 and 24, you can rent cars in different
places managed by Thrifty, Enterprise, Advantage, Budget, Avis, Dollar, National and Hertz.
However, they still need to pay daily fees which vary on different locations. Luxury vehicles and
SUVs are also prohibited for this age bracket although some companies may reconsider to have
these cars be rented but with higher daily fees.
So, if you want to rent a car even though you rent a car under 25 years of age at car rental companies
, here are some of the things that you need to

Lunar and Solar Months control the DarkRealm Earth. During Lunar Months an eclipse occurs and
darkness reigns over the earth for eleven months.
Creatures of the night are free to roam the earth during that period hunting and stalking any prey
within sight. After the eclipse expires the light of the sun overpowers the darkness for five months.
Creatures of the dark, including warwuilfs, never surfaced from their lairs during Solar Months.
Humans and other non dangerous species are free to roam the DarkRealm in safety. This is known

Present Day Advocacy
I believe that history does impact the development of present day advocacy efforts in a significant
way. According to Meyers, efforts to protect children from abuse and neglect dates back to the
colonial times. Through individual advocates and organized parties many great events related to
children s rights came about over the years. Some of these events include minimum age laws for
factory work, day nurseries for low income wives and widows, orphan trains, the first white house
conference, the Children s Bureau, The ChildAbuse Prevention and Treatment Act, and more
recently in 2011 rights protected under the first amendment were extended to children.

Ernest Hemingway Symbolism
Ernest Hemingway uses symbolism in a lot of different ways in this book, but one of the most
distinguishable ways he uses symbolism is to try and represent women and men through
different characters in the book. Early in the book when the old man is on the boat he starts to
think about the ocean. He brings up the fact that he thinks about the ocean as la mar, which is
the feminine form of the ocean in Spanish. On page 30 he says and if she did wild or wicked
things it was because she could not help them. I feel like this could be a negative thing or a
positive thing. It could be negative in saying women are kind of evil, but it could be positive
saying that a lot of the time it is not the person s fault. In the very beginning of the book

It’S Said That The Universe Will Tend To Move Toward A
It s said that the universe will tend to move toward a state with a higher entropy. Every gas
molecules will spontaneously diffuse to fill a container which will increase the overall entropy of
the universe. Evolution is then can be thought to follow this same basic principle. Nature has
given every species living in it an indefinite amount of time which allows them to evolve. Ergo, for
over three billion years, some of the single cell organisms had been successfully evolving into the
numerous multicellular organisms that we know of today, us included; and some, who were not
able to improve within the given time, would be exterminated (Darwin 120). But, what is it that she
has been eager to see through this long lasting experiment of... Show more content on

Although this is not a closed circuit, some energy is dissipated, some is added; but it is a
sustained circuit (Leopold 43). This similar instance was also explained in Darwin s theory as
the struggle for life for every species. In Darwinian theory, the struggle for life does not only
represent the species struggle to survive, but it also reflected on the idea that each individual is
interdependent with one another. A mistletoe seedling, for example, is said to struggle with each
other if they grow close to one another. And if a mistletoes is disseminated by birds, its
existence [now] depends on birds (Darwin 109). The struggle for existence that Darwin explain is
then similar to the flow of energy explained by Leopold. The seed that is disseminated by birds
becomes the container for the transfer of the energy from the sun. That energy would then be
dissipated as work for the bird to fly from one place to another, if not the energy would be
transferred to yet another organism. Thus, this seems as if evolution acts on every species with the
thought of a certain ethics that the species must followed which formed a strict system. Further
continuation of the theory comes from their explanation about the goal of evolution to elaborate
and diversify the biota

Should people be dehumanized and exhibited for the way they were born? What affects does it have on the african community versus the rest of the population? In my opinion the show should not be continued, because they are only using African american actors, who as a community have already been dehumanized for centuries, because of the color of their skins. (Exhibit B has been lauded by white, black and brown audiences and critics for the powerful stance it takes against racism, the dehumanisation and objectification of black people, and the sanitisation of the brutalities of European colonialism.) • 3. Reaction (rate) between magnesium ribbon and hydrochloric... Aim It is to tell how the reaction between magnesium and hydrochloric acid will be effected if we change the concentration of hydrochloric acid. Introduction In the experiment the magnesium reacts with the hydrochloric acid to create magnesium chloride and hydrogen. The balanced formula for this is: Mg(s) + 2HCL(aq) MgCl2(aq) + H2(g) Magnesium + hydrochloric acid Magnesium Chloride + Hydrogen Magnesium will react with hydrochloric acid, because it is higher in the reactivity series than hydrogen. The magnesium displaces the hydrogen in the acid, so it forms magnesium chloride and hydrogen gas. There are many variables that I can change, which are the temperature and concentration of the hydrochloric acid, and the mass and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The amount of hydrogen I will end up with when the reaction has completely finished will be the same for all the concentrations, but if a reaction is too slow and exceeds the set time I will stop taking results and it might not finish reacting. Preliminary experiment I was suggested to use 20cm3 of hydrochloric acid and 5cm of cleaned magnesium ribbon, and take the volume of hydrogen in the syringe every 10 seconds for the preliminary experiment to. I tried this but the reaction happened very quickly and the results of the volume of hydrogen were very spread out. The results for each 10 second interval were not accurate enough and there was not enough magnesium to get a high level of hydrogen. To solve this I increased the amount of magnesium strip to 8cm, and decreased the time interval to 5 seconds each. I tried this and the results were much more reliable to use and analyze. Fair Test To keep a fair test I will have to look into all the variables surrounding the experiment and only change the variable that I am testing on. The other variables are the temperature of the acid at the beginning, the volume of acid, the surface area of the magnesium strip, the length of the magnesium strip and if the magnesium strip is cleaned or not.
  • 4. The magnesium strips were cleaned and cut correctly by the lab technician and I measured and inspected the strip each time I started the experiment to make sure it was ok for the experiment. Most of these variables ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Discovery News (O Neill, 2010), is the sun emitting a mystery particle, it stated . When probing the deepest reaches of the cosmos or magnifying our understanding of the quantum world, a whole host of mysteries present themselves. This is to be expected when pushing our knowledge of the universe to the limit. But what if a well known and a apparently constant characteristic of matter starts behaving mysteriously? This is exactly what has been noticed in recent years; the decay rates of radioactive elements are changing. This is especially mysterious as we are talking about elements with constant decay rates these rates aren t supposed to change . One may ask what does this has to do with slavery. Again ... Selfish nodes are unwilling to forward the packets in order to save their battery power, memory and CPU time. As, a selfish node will not cooperate in the transmission of packets which affects the network performance very badly. Starbucks coffee s prosperity shows its viability in tending to these outside elements in its industrial surroundings. However, this five forces investigation highlights current industry conditions that force present and developing concerns significant to StarbucksCoffees business. Following are the five forces of Michael Porter s model. These five forces have different intensities or powers on the basis of the market position of Starbucks. (1)Competitive rivalry or competition (strong force) (2)Threat of substitutes or substitution (strong force) (3)The bargaining power of buyers or customers (strong force) (4)Threat of new entrants or new entry (moderate force) (5)The bargaining power of suppliers (weak force) Competitive Rivalry or Competition According to Maverick (2015), marketplace rivalry from significant opponents is the strongest business sector constrain that Starbucks needs to address. In spite of the fact that it holds a preeminent position in the coffeehouse market segment, there is intense rivalry from competitors, for example, Dunkin Brands Group and McDonald s. Like its real rivals, Starbucks advertising technique has depended vigorously on setting up an exceptionally solid brand personality and brand reliability sufficiently to encourage customers to pay a sensible premium price for its items. ... • 9. Jim Crow, By John Crow Essay Jim Crow was a character portrayed in Minstrelsy shows to be goofy, drunk, lazy, and uneducated. This character set a very harsh stereo type for African Americans. Jim Crow became a common racial slur. According to Dr. David Pilgrim of Ferris State University by 1838, the term Jim Crow was being used as a slur for African Americans which was not as offensive as nigger, but more similar to coon or darkie (Pilgrim, David, Dr. Who Was Jim Crow. ). According to PBS Jim Crow was named after a popular 19th century minstrel song that stereotyped African Americans, Jim Crow came to personify the system of government sanctioned racial oppression and segregation in the United States ( The Rise and Fall of Jim Crow. PBS.). The Jim Crow character created by Thomas Dartmouth Daddy Rice along with the song and dance created an image or stereotype of the African Americanman that helped reinforce the belief that African Americans were lazy, stupid, and overall less human. Therefore, they were unworthy of integration (Pilgrim, David, Dr. Who Was Jim Crow. ). This idea set the stage for the Jim Crow laws. The song Jim Crow written by Rice started off like this Come listen all you galls and boys, I m going to sing a little song, My name is Jim Crow. Mississippi, and trial of Tom Robinson in Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird The purpose of this essay is to compare three very similar cases, the Scottsboro Trials, Brown v. Mississippi, and the fictional trial of Tom Robinson in Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird; and to prove why the defendant of the third trial never had a chance. Each took place in the rural South in the 1920 s and 30 s and involved the unfair conviction of young black males by all white juries pressured by the threat of mob violence. Each lacked the evidence sufficient for conviction, most especially for the death penalty. Last, heroes emerged from each trial and made small but solid steps towards equal justice for all. ... The Supreme Court granted the Scottsboro boys new trials on the grounds that they did not receive adequate legal counsel. In this second round of trials, presided by Judge James E. Horton, Ruby Bates denied that she or Victoria Price had ever been raped (To Kill a Mockingbird: Then and Now). The hero in this case was Judge Horton. Despite public opinion in the region, Horton overturned the conviction of the jury, an unprecedented act. He wrote a thoughtful essay of the improbability of the crime and examined what evidence should have resulted from it. Very little of this expected evidence actually appeared and thus Judge Horton declared: It is therefore ordered and adjudged by the Court that the motion be granted; that the verdict of the jury in this case and the judgment of the Court sentencing this defendant to death be, and the same hereby is, set aside and that a new trial be and the same is hereby ordered. Also, TJX did not apply counter measures in place of those defined vulnerabilities or threats which costed the company huge losses. If the company implemented the WPA securityprotocol, the risks could have been small. There are multiple methods to improve the security at TJX to prevent future breaches. The network wireless system should be upgraded to Wi Fi Protected Access2, WPA2, from WEP. WPA2 provides the most secure protocol that is available on a wireless network. WPA2 uses Advanced Encryption Standard to encrypt all the data when the data is in motion. AES encryption takes a hacker months, even years to break. If the company wants customers to have free Wi Fi then have two separate networks in which one is has a network password and other just requires a login with terms and conditions. For the wired/wireless connections, TJX can institute a virtual private network, or VPN, to connect with the servers that have sensitive information. This allows the connection between the servers and device to be secure but the data is not. VPN does have limitation such as devices, but is an alternative to WPA2 and better than WEP. VPN is ideal for documents such as sales reports, inventory, and strategies. TJX must implement these standards on all of the retail locations to safeguard all the data being processed throughout the business day. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Documentary And Narrative Filmmaking What makes documentary filmmaking distinct to narrative filmmaking? There are a few contrasting objectives for both types of filmmaking that distinguishes them from each other. Simply put, narrative filmmaking is a movie with a pre written script, actors and a story which is already crafted before they start shooting. while documentaries are filmmaking where real life events are captured, and a script is usually written afterwards. Narrative films rely on the three act structure which goes Setup, Confrontation and Resolution or in other words, a beginning, middle and end. Many believed it was to attack Bush who was running for re election in 2004 as the movie was due for release around the same time Bush began campaigning. The crux of the debate surrounding the film involved Moore s satirical styling. Some argued Moore tried too hard to make his movie entertaining and, in the process, would often distort pieces of information. (Bryd, 2017) This is yet another possible example of filmmakers showing the audience what they want to see and not the complete truth. While it is not proven that Moore did bend the truth, therefore it is nearly impossible to create a comprehensive code of ethics when making a documentary because Filmmakers can and sometimes will break the rules to show what they want to, be it to expose the truth or a personal ... • 13. Cancer Stem Cell Thesis Isolation of Cancer Stem Cells through their Dielectrophoretic Signature Thesis The purpose of this research article is to create a microfluidic device that can isolate and separate cancer stem cells from regular cancer cells in blood. Background In spite of all the achievements and advances in the medical field, cancer stays as one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Cancer is an umbrella term for groups of diseases that are all characterized by uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells [1]. These abnormal cells are cells that are either mutated or damaged in such a way that natural mechanisms for checking cell growth are no longer efficient for containing their growth. If these unusual cells are allowed to multiply unchecked, severe health issues will arise possibly leading to death. Cancer can result from both external factors including tobacco usage, virus infections, chemicals, and radiation, as well as from internal factors such as hormones and inherited mutations [1]. In the case of the CSCs, they are capable of replicating themselves and eventually differentiating into the more commonly known tumor cells [2]. Currently, no cure for cancer exists but various cancer treatments and therapies do exist. These typically involve surgery, immune therapy, targeted therapy, hormone therapy, or chemotherapy . Many of these treatments focus heavily on killing rapidly dividing and growing cells, which is characteristic of most cancer cells. Confucius Many people believe that a dystopian government will only happen in the distant future but, they do not know that nowadays, many governments function in a similar way to those governments depicted in the future. In particular, the government of North Korea. The North Korean government limits the freedom of speech and the press. Even your basic human rights are denied by the government. Their rights are repressed. In North Korea, all the agencies of education and propaganda are controlled by the government. Schools, colleges, radio, films and newspapers are all controlled by the government. They are only exposed to what the government wants them to know. The people of North Korea have limited food and resources. The citizens have very little or no say on who is elected to rule the country. There is national glorification for their leader. The North Korean government is just like a dystopian government only, it is not in the future. In the book Surviving Antarctica, it states how the government controlled the people and how it limited their human rights. Right now we can see how the Korean government acts much like a dystopian government. Growing up in southern Louisiana one must be prepared for major storms and flooding at less than a day s notice. Hurricanes are powerful storms that can ravish towns and can be deadly for people and animals alike. Hurricane Katrina tore through the Gulf Coast in August of 2005, and I was in the midst of that wreckage. Most storms that would make it to the area I used to live usually lost strength by the time it got to us. For the weaker storms, the kids would get a mini vacation from school, and the parents got a much needed break from work. At the time, I thought everyone in Louisiana and especially New Orleans were not ready for what was coming. Louisiana is a laid back state, due to its French roots. The catch phrase for the state was always Laissez Les Bon Temps rouler, or Let the good times roll! So, it s easy to see why the media portrayed Louisianan s as not caring about the tropical storm that was headed our way. We did care, we were just expecting much less than what we received. I think a good way to describe this is that people from California have been through many earthquakes and are prepared for them, but would you stop living your life for a small earthquake that might not happen? Probably not. My family tried to be as prepared as we possibly could, but there is only so much money to go around buying things for situations that might not even happen. In brief, this essay will delve into some of the utilized stylistic and thematic traits included in the film such as the obvious Nazi imagery, the powerful media presence that is dictated by the State and the deliberate satire that is used to comment on current American concerns. Before we delve into how Starship Troopers portrays a parodic fascist/nationalistic ideology, we must first define what ideology is, in particular, what is means in terms of cinema. ... The novel followed a similar pattern of all his juvenile novels aimed at male adolescents, focusing on the science of science fiction whilst following youthful education stories and supporting an optimistic vision of space conquest (Melin, 2010). Critics took issue with the attitude that his young protagonists portrayed, calling Heinlein s political views strongly authoritarian and fascist. On the other hand, Verhoeven s ideology is exactly the opposite. Rather than downplaying these fascist elements of Heinlein s novel, Verhoeven decides to play them up, giving the film s incipient Nazism an admiring positive spin (Cass, 1999, p. 56), hence mocking the very nature of Heinlein s novel. In his adaptation, Verhoeven gets away with cheeky, sometimes savage, parody of patriotism with campy enthusiasm, blatant and black humour and a cast of bugs, which steal the picture under the noses of the scrubbed and brainwashed teenage troopers. Some critics who understood the satirical point still worried that a younger audience would not that naГЇve viewers would embrace this fascist world, much as those of similar age did in the 1930s (Grimsley, 2014, p. 76). • 21. Leadership And Commitment Of Senior Management Essay Leadership and Commitment Senior management leadership and commitment forms a key element of this model. A successful OSH risk management strategy must be driven by senior Management. This is the level of management mandated to make critical decisions on policy development of an organization. Risk management is most effective when it is integrated into the initial stages of business and strategic planning. In Australia the public service legislation places an emphasis on high levels of professional leadership and expertise; and performance management, and accountability in devolved management framework (Commonwealth of Australia, 2005). In a study done to establish safety standards in Borabu District in Kenya it was found that 36% of head teachers indicated that Board of Governors were uncooperative in improving safety standards. (Migiro, 2012). Training institutions like other organizations must be led by senior management that is committed to safety. 2.3.1.2 Active Involvement of all workers Active involvement of all workers in the workplace ensures success of any OHS management program, and helps to develop a safety culture in the workplace. Open communication between management and workers support OSH activities. Employees provide critical OSH information as they are often in the immediate work area and identify hazards. The Oresteia trilogy, which contains the plays Agamemnon, The Libation Bearers, and The Furies, uses justice as its dominant theme. Aeschylus wrote these plays sometime after the end of the Persian wars, around 449 BC, when the star of Athens was on its superiority. It was the commencement of a new era, marked by the establishment of a new social and political order built on democracy and the rule of law. The rule of law designed the institutionalization of justice. Justice was not a personal responsibility to be handed out according to the rule of family dispute of blood for blood anymore. The author does not follow a chronological order throughout the novel, which is a reflection of how disorderly life is. It is a time of conflict both spiritually and physically. People start to question the meaning of lifeif there is any meaning at all. Kundera believes that lightness may seem initially freeing and sweet but this sweetness disintegrates gradually and eventually becomes unbearable. Here, they not only try to replace unhealthy foods with healthier ones, but also increase accessibility and affordability of healthy food for the families that cannot afford them. This cannot be done by profit motivated private companies. What the initiative is doing here is just to show all the stakeholders including parents, families, schools, communities, health care, industry, media, and government a right direction to solve the problem and let them get involved it with their own initiatives. There has been a strong concern, however, that unhealthy fast food has been served and advertised at cafeteria in public schools nationwide and legislation against serving and promoting these foods may be necessary to solve the problem. Schlosser revealed in his book ten years ago that nation s food chains are marketing their products in public schools (Schlosser 52) and points out that about 30 percent of the public high schools in the United States offer branded fast food (Schlosser 56). In Super Size Me, the director and performer Morgan Spurlock also shows that many public schools serve innutritious fast food at cafeteria (Super Size Me). The Principles Of Radio Dequency Identification The acronym RFID stands for Radio frequency Identification, which is one of the most prominent technologies being used in the modern lifestyle, which has wide range of applications like enabling physical security in an enterprise, tracking objects/merchandise on a shop floor etc. A general RFID System has a Reader and Tags. The RFIDtags are nothing but small sized transponders, which store small amount of data which can be either information about the product that is being tracked or any unique serial number directly fed into it and the information can be read multiple times by the reader . The RFID reader which is a two way trans reciever uses the radio waves which enabling wirelesstransfer of data between tags and the reader. Fig 3.17: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because of the on board power supply the cost of the active RFID tags is higher. Fig 18: RFID active tag b).passive tags: A passive RFID tag has no on board power source. But they are passively powered by the energy from the electromagnetic field of the RFID reader. The antenna present in the passive tag converts the energy from electromagnetic field of the reader into an RF wave that is transmitted into the coverage zone of the reader. 33 Passive RFID tags find eligibility in applications which require low range of detection like access control, supply chain management etc. Apart from active and passive tags there is a new classification called Battery assisted passive tags . These tags have a small on board batteries which get activated in the presence of an RFID reader. It is clear that the above classification is based on the availability of power source in the RFID tag. Also it is known that the tags contain vital data regarding the object that is being tracked. The memory in the tags can be either a read only type of memory (a unique serial code embedded into the chip) or a read write/ programmable memory type in which the data in the tag can be written by the end user. The move from the big city of Calcutta to the big city of New York is much lonelier because they have no family nearby and the land is unfamiliar. The climate is also different, it is winter time and the weather is cold. Ashima is learning very quickly that the living conditions are different. Ashoke explains to her that they have gas twenty four hours a day, and the difference between hot and cold water symbols. Also there was no need for her to boil the water for drinking; she could just drink straight from the tap. The clashes are both cultural and generation based. Teenagers in any culture choose not to listen to their parents, and play loud music as Gogol did in the movie. The Ganguli home is often filled with Bengali family and friends, and that provides a support system for Ashoke and Ashima. It makes the Ganguli s feel like they did when they were in India, surrounded by family. Gogol receives some advice from his aunt before leaving for college. She tells him to have fun, but come home and marry a Bengali woman. After Gogol leaves home, he meets Maxine who is American in every sense of the word. She is in the upper social class, and Gogol is attracted to her family because they are American. They call Gogol, Nick short for Nikhil. He distances himself from his parents by not returning phones calls, and upsets Ashima when he would rather visit Maxine s parents than his own. Gogol does decide to stop at his parents on the way to visit Maxine s, out of possible guilt for not keeping in touch. Gogol introduces Maxine, and she calls Ashima by her first name. It s apparent that is not the respectful introduction Ashima would have preferred. Again, a clash in cultures, and what s considered appropriate. Why People Have Joint Pain Why Many People have Joint Pain and How to Help Ease It As people age they begin to feel that they are experiencing pain in their joints more so than they did during their youth. There can be many reasons for this pain. Or can it be just a part of ageing. During our youth we don t pay much attention to how hard we played, what we eat, or if we took vitamins. Our mothers for the most part were responsible for what we eat, how much sleep we got, and in general how well we take care of ourselves. As children our bodies are pretty resilient and other than broken bones, skinned knees, bumps, and bruises pretty much heal and go away without any need or concern to see a physician. Years ago mothers made sure that we got the proper amount of sleep, which for the most part once we got to sleep our bodies took care of how much sleep we got all by its self, for most children that was anywhere from 8 to 10 hours a night if undisturbed. Most children got a balanced diet, some even got a daily vitamin or eat foods that were enriched in vitamins such as cereal and milk. A lot of kids ate in the cafeteria at school. Schools did their best to make sure that the lunches were well balanced. Children for the most part played outside for recess which usually involved some sort of running, hopping, skipping, or throwing a ball. And when they got home after some kind of snack they couldn t wait to get out to ride their bike, or play some sort of game that normally again ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Creation And The Persistence Of Evil By Levenson In Creation and the Persistence of Evil , Levenson asserts that God s divine omnipotence originates from his battle with rather than banishment of evil. There are a few textual facts to consider in analysis of this statement. In an initial class discussion, we examined the fact that God did not create evil. He created what was and what had the potential to be good (e.g. light, man), separating it from what is deemed as evil (e.g. darkness). For instance, he did not create the tree of knowledge of good and evil, but instead drew boundaries. Yet this concept from Genesis conflicts with one that arises in Psalms 104:26. This verse states that Godcreated the Leviathan, a sea monster, and later kills him in a battle ( thou brakest the heads of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

People can express their opinion by giving money to some organization or even a political candidate in order to further their own ideas. Sometimes this medium is the only one where the feel their voice is actually heard. Therefore, it is logical for people to be allowed to donate to any organization that they believe shares their deeply held convictions. But contrary to the decision of Supreme Court in the Citizens United case that Spending is speech, and is therefore protected by the Constitution even if the speaker is a corporation, corporations are not citizens which should be protected under the constitution (Dunbar, 2012). They are large entities that are made up of potentially thousands that could not possibly share all of the same beliefs. Therefore, corporations should not be allowed to give unlimited sums of money to organizations that then perform electioneering communications ads that advocate for a candidate s election or defeat (Epstein, 2015). This money is likely coming from the top executives only and does not represent every single employee or shareholder. This type of donation labels every employee from a corporation as supporting the recipient of the donation, but that could never be true in a corporation of any substantial size. This legalization of corruption can be traced back to two landmark Supreme Court cases: First National Bank of Boston v. Bellotti and Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission (FEC). Early in the book when the old man is on the boat he starts to think about the ocean. He brings up the fact that he thinks about the ocean as la mar, which is the feminine form of the ocean in Spanish. On page 30 he says and if she did wild or wicked things it was because she could not help them. I feel like this could be a negative thing or a positive thing. Every gas molecules will spontaneously diffuse to fill a container which will increase the overall entropy of the universe. Evolution is then can be thought to follow this same basic principle. Nature has given every species living in it an indefinite amount of time which allows them to evolve. Ergo, for over three billion years, some of the single cell organisms had been successfully evolving into the numerous multicellular organisms that we know of today, us included; and some, who were not able to improve within the given time, would be exterminated (Darwin 120). But, what is it that she has been eager to see through this long lasting experiment of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although this is not a closed circuit, some energy is dissipated, some is added; but it is a sustained circuit (Leopold 43). This similar instance was also explained in Darwin s theory as the struggle for life for every species. In Darwinian theory, the struggle for life does not only represent the species struggle to survive, but it also reflected on the idea that each individual is interdependent with one another. A mistletoe seedling, for example, is said to struggle with each other if they grow close to one another. And if a mistletoes is disseminated by birds, its existence [now] depends on birds (Darwin 109). The struggle for existence that Darwin explain is then similar to the flow of energy explained by Leopold. The seed that is disseminated by birds becomes the container for the transfer of the energy from the sun. That energy would then be dissipated as work for the bird to fly from one place to another, if not the energy would be transferred to yet another organism. Thus, this seems as if evolution acts on every species with the thought of a certain ethics that the species must followed which formed a strict system. Further continuation of the theory comes from their explanation about the goal of evolution to elaborate and diversify the biota ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
