War Essay
Weird silence filled the air. It was a cold and relatively peaceful night on January 2005. Almost
all citizens hid in their rooms to protect themselves from the war. The sky was completely dark
with no light on streets. All of a sudden, the dark silent night was put to an end as six year old
Samar Hassan was screaming and crying. A car was approaching in the dark when several
American soldiers were patrolling a main road of northern Iraqs Tal Afarwhich was a town rife with
insurgents. Concerning that the vehicle might carry insurgents and suicide bombs, the soldiers
began to flash lights and waved arms to indicate the car to stop. However, the Hassansdidn t see the
sign but kept driving forwards. After receiving a command from an... Show more content on

Thousands of Iraqis suffer from the pain and trauma caused by the war, but the story of Samar
again stands out. Rakan, Samar s brother, was hit by a bullet in his spin which was the most
vulnerable part of our body. He was seriously wounded in the tragedy, and he was sent to Boston for
treatment after Hondros s photos were published. Although Rakan was fortunate enough to survive
from the tragedy, he was again haunted by death. Rakan died three years after their parents s death
when an insurgent attack badly bombing the house where they live in.
* * * I remember the first time when my older sister left our family to study aboard for such a
long time. It was a normal night dinner was served at 6:30, everyone took their own seat except
there was a weird silence during dinner. No one would like to talk but have dinner quietly. I
knew that my older sister cried when she said goodbye to us at the airport. It was her and also
mine fist time being apart from each other in 17 years. On our way back home, my older sister
texted us to read the letter that she hid in the car. I didn t read the letter until I locked my room s
door. In the letter, my sister reminded me that I was the one who should take care of both my
parent and little brother now. Also, she told me that she trusted me I could do it and she would
always be there if I need any help. I cried. I cried so hard. But I could not make any noise so

What Was the Design of the Hakka Houses
What was the design of the Hakka Houses?
#1 Brown
Built in round shape to fend off bandits, warlords, and unwanted guests
Inexpensive to build and maintain, and last long (some over 1000 years)
Upper floors have windows and massive wooden gates are sheathed in iron
Layout: First floor is for cooking, eating, socializing, and working. Second floor is for grains and
grandparents. Third and fourth floor is for young people to live. Central Courtyards have a well,
mill, threshing floor, and ancestral hall
About 360 houses are round, 4,000 are square
#2 Katayama
The plane composition, roof height, main gate orientation, location of a stove, direction of drain
ditches etc... in Tulou dwellings were determined by Feng Shui. Other influences were Chinese
traditional philosophy (Confucianism, Taoism, Buddhism etc...)
Plane construction reflects the Guangdong plane s Wei Long Wu with Three main two side house
styles and Five Phoenix. Taking the human body as the model, both houses stretch forward as if to
greet people
Exterior Walls: Base with heavy load uses stone masonry
Deep eaves to protect walls from weather
Defensive parts are made of stones
#3 UNESCO
Each house holds up to 800 people
Built defensively around a central open courtyard, with one entrance, only windows are above first
floor
Tall fortified mud walls, capped by tile roof with wide eaves
Buildings divided vertically families
Highly decorated and comfortable on inside

I Think About The Word Ethics
When I think about the word ethics the first thing that comes to mind is what is it, and what does
it mean to me? Ethics itself is how one conducts themselves in what they deem is an appropriate
manner. It is the basis of our moral decisions and makes us who we are as people and influences
our choices. There are different components in ethicsthat consist of, acting out of duty, good
intentions, consequences, utility or outcome of one s actions and striving to be a virtuous person.
The one that stands out the most and influences my behavior is virtue. Whether it is my thoughts or
actions I try to remain virtuous in my behavior. Doing the right thing because that is what is
morally right is how I make my decisions. I would rather go out of... Show more content on

Overcoming these vices and still maintaining a virtuous attitude shows true strength and virtuous
character. This, I also believe, stands out as one of the important aspects of virtue. Even when
difficult vices are set in front of you to choose along with the good, being virtuous would result in
picking the right choice because it is simply that, the right thing to do.
Augustine Aurelius, more commonly known by the name Saint Augustine, was quite astonishingly
one of the most important and influential thinkers in history as we know it. Although he had
extremely pessimistic views, his way of thinking towards contemporary political theory shaped his
following and ideas into what is known about him today. Many critics target Augustine s
pessimism, arguing that his fixation on sin and longing for the heavenly city deny the value of
this worldly politics. (Lamb, 2014) Born in Tagaste in 354, he was particularly exposed to varying
cultures and religion. Living in North Africa throughout his childhood, he saw and recognized the
coexistence of these cultures and religions around the time of Emperor Constantine. The edict of
religious tolerance took the forefront around 1313, and this inspired him to search for the truth. He
set out to reach this goal after examining and reading the works of Cicero. His exhortation to love
wisdom was what sparked the inspiration of Augustine to explore different doctrines that were
presented at the time of his life.

Investigation Methods of Firearms
Firearms can be investigated in many different ways. The most common way is examining the
bullet. Bullet characteristics such as shape, impressions, and grooves can help determine what type
of firearm the bullet was launched from. The same can be said for the bullets cartridge. You can
identify what firearmwas used just from the cartridgeitself. When you load a cartridge into a
firearm you will leave distinctive marks that can be identified. The cartridge doesn t necessarily
have to be fired in order for certain identifiable marks to transfer therefore, they will exists the
moment the cartridge is put into the firearm.
The typical cartridge case is made out of brass. Plastic and steel are also materials that cartridge
cases have been known to be made of. Cartridge cases are acknowledged of being softer than the
other materials found in the firearm. Despite this, cartridge cases still have a variety of finishes.
There will always be a mark where the inner working of the firearm meets the cartridge case.
One method to determine the marks on a cartridge case is using a comparison microscope. Using
the scope you can compare the cartridge cases against fire standards. Scientists first examine the
standards in order to determine what firearm is constantly reproducing certain marks. The experts
would then compare their findings to the evidence on the cartridge cases to see if they have any
matches.
There are two standard forms produced by the tool marks on a cartridge case.

Australia’s Potential Uranium Mining Industry
Australia s Potential Uranium Mining Industry
Summary
Australia s Uranium Resource Position Australia is the world‟s richest country in terms of
uranium resources. Australia‟s uranium resources are spread over 85 deposits and accounts for
23% of the world‟s total resources. Kazakhstan is the current largest producer, producing 40%
more tonnes of uranium than Australia while have considerably less reserves. Canada has the
highest grade deposits but with much less resources than Australia, however they too produce much
more uranium. Three Mine Policy Introduced more than 30 years ago this policy inhibited the
growth of Australia‟s uranium mining industry until 2007. The policy was changed in order to
promote the future of Australia. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Canada Canada has a long history of uranium mining dating back to the 1930‟s. It had the
largest production of uranium for many years until overtaken by Kazakhstan in 2009. (World
Nuclear Association 2010: Uranium in Canada)
Canada has the world‟s largest high grade uranium mine; the McArthur River mine. It is also
the most productive mine and contributed around 15% of world production in 2008. This deposit
has reserves of 168 000 tonnes of uranium at a grade of 21.2%. (InfoMine 2005),

„Three Mines Policy‟
The „Three Mine Policy‟ became effective after the Labor Party was voted into power in
1983. In the same month as taking office the new Federal Labour Government revoked the
negotiating licences of the uranium companies in Australia. The Ranger and Narbarlek mines were
relicensed after reapplication and in November of 1983
Caucus voted to approve the Roxby Downs project (today known as Olympic Dam) and prevent the
operation of any new uranium mines. In the 1984 ALP National Conference the Government
amended its party platform and its new position became known as the „Three Mines Policy‟.
(Panter, Kay 1994)
In 2007 the newly appointed Prime Minister Kevin Rudd announced a change in uranium mining
policy which led to the end of the 23 year old „Three mine policy‟ in order to promote the
future of Australia. Currently

Sample Naturalistic Observation Papers
On Friday, February 10th, 2017 I did a naturalistic observation with the intent to observe gender
dynamics unfold in a specific setting. I attended a party on Friday night and observed for
approximately 2 hours. The setting was a lingerie party at Gaia s Cradle.
Gaia s Cradle is a living learning community at Northland, located next to the CSE building, in a
historical two story home with six students residing. It is a learning community dedicated to
gender, women s, and sexuality studies. Gaia s regularly holds educational events, and always
offers free condoms and dental dams for anyone who needs/wants. As a setting, Gaia s is an
extremely open, accepting, and diverse place. For the party, he house was decorated with art made
from a previous event this week, photos of people with their bodies painted, and various lingerie
(bras, stockings) hanging from the ceiling. The lights were off, but there was mood lighting, fairy
lights and black lights. Dance music was playing loudly from a ... Show more content on

The men at the party only drank beer, while playing beer pong. The beer was in bottles, cans, or in
the red solo cups from the game. The women at the party either took shots together, or brought
their own wine or mixed drinks in water bottles. I believe many women brought their own drinks
for safety reasons. College, especially college parties, can be a very dangerous place for women.
Rates of sexual assault are extremely high on college campuses. These women likely mixed and
brought their own drinks so they would know they aren t getting drugged. The men weren t
worried about being drugged by drinking open solo cups of beer that were setting out in public.
This is an example of male privilege. The men at the party didn t need to worry about being
drugged and possibly assaulted because the overwhelming majority of assaults are committed by
men and the victims are

The New Frontier
The business of today have evolved to a whole new frontier. The new frontier is no longer a
physical interface, but has shifted towards the internet scene. The internet offers many new
advantages, and because of this, it has drawn an increasing number of aspiring entrepreneurs. For
my business, I would take full advantage of the fortune of having the internet at my disposal, and
follow the path of creating an online retailer primarily focused on clothing, and fashion. I am
fully aware of the fact that there are numerous online retailers that are currently available, and that
competition will be fierce. Because of this, I will need to use everything that I have learned so far
in the business world in order to distinguish myself from me competitors. The initial step for
starting my business would be for me to study from successful online retailers, and try to analyze
the reason behind their success. I will then use this knowledge to apply it to my own site. Although
it will be challenging, I will try my best to satisfy my customers by being reliable, and committed.
After all, Amazon s success can be primarily attributed towards the excellent relationship, and
commitment that they have towards their customers. As mentioned before, it is important that I
take advantage of the technological advances that have become available to my generation. As
many successful e retailers have done, I will create an official account on various social media
platforms such as Instagram,

Death Be Not Proud By John Donne
The progression of societal beliefs regarding our approach towards death is dependent upon the
changing nature of both cultural and historical contexts. In Donne s Holy Sonnet Death be not
proud he uses second person narration to address Death as thou , thee and thy , death is not
considered conceptually but anthropomorphised as the poems fundamental pride. In Death be not
proud , we see how the rumination of death is shaped by Elizabethan values. Through the subverted
Petrarchan structure and style, Donne s use of apostrophe denigrates the omnipotence of death and
lowers its statue to the level of the poet. This corresponds with contextual religious values of
certainty in external afterlife and death as a transitory stage. This... Show more content on

Vivian s reversion to the punctuation, Death semicolon thou shalt die, is symbolic of the 1990s
literature culture wars, as Edson argues that a personal interpretation of the text is crucial to
understanding its virtues. This is seen as Donne s religious context only saw a mere pause, comma,
between life and eternal life, whereas, modern existential beliefs see this transition as more potent
and vivid, semicolon. This uncertainty can be seen through the final stage directions, the instant she
is naked and beautiful, reaching for the light, which symbolises purity, peacefulness and hope.
Therefore, we see the modern context produce an uncertain, yet uplifting approach to death. Donne
s poem, The Sunne Rising, expounds how his view of life is shaped by relationships. We see this
as the poet defies the natural order by apostrophising the Sun, Busie old foole. In Donne s context,
the Sun was seen as the centre of the natural world and the source of energy and life. Donne s
irritated, jesting tone denounces the Sun s power when compared with his lover. This is seen
through the metaphorical description, This bed thy centre is, these walls, thy sphere, which
extrapolates the apotheosistic nature of his relationship, and is

Donna Tartt s The Secret History
The Secret History Theme: The Effect That Choices/Tragedy Has
Donna Tartt s novel expresses the idea that the choices made in our youth will have an impact on
our later lives, be it a few images that create a shadowy presence in the mind of a person
throughout their life, or a completely alternated series of life events. This novel provides the reader
with excellent examples of how negative life events and choices can alter our thoughts and
personalities for better or worse. All five major characters in this novel undergo some degree of
change as they struggle to accept the true weight of their actions.
To illustrate this idea, the character of Charles Macaulay experiences possibly the most prominent
change over the course of this novel. In the early stages of the narrative, Charles is friendly, caring
and mild. He gets along well with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Richard confronts Henry later in the novel, after the death of Bunny, Henry tells him, ...
My life, for the most part, has been very stale and colourless. Dead, I mean. The world has

in everything I did. But then it changed, the night I killed that man . He went on to tell Richard that
It enabled me to do what I ve always wanted most; to live without thinking . After the first murder,
Henry became even more rational than he was previously, spending a great portion of his time
planning out how to get away and how to deal with Bunny. It is difficult to map out Henry s
change in character as from the start he came across as listless and emotionally unresponsive but
he markedly became even more strange and reclusive toward the end. This is shown by his elusive
behaviour during the time Richard tried to get answers out of him in chapter 8, when he talked
about the mundane as if nothing was wrong and then abruptly

Caicos Fishing Cycle
The Terrifying Canoe Ride in Turks and Caicos
Have you ever gotten stuck in the middle of ocean? Well, I have. It happened when I was only
10 years old, in the middle of the summer when I was on vacation in Turks and Caicos. While I
was there, I was so eager and excited to canoe. It was one of many things you can do that the
hotel offered and I kept bugging my mom and my siblings to do it. When they finally agreed to
do it, I didn t know how much trouble it would put me in the future and all my other siblings into
too. I learned from this event to always be sure on how to do something before you actually do it.
Or just not to be a smarty pants and think that I know how to do something perfectly when really, I
could use a lot of help.

We didn t swim about ten feet when a big snorkeling boat came to our rescue. A man took my
sister and I, and lead us on the boat and then took the canoe and hosted it on the boat as well. He
said, Are you guys okay? and then my sister and I said, We are okay now, but we were so scared!
Then we told him that are brother was swimming toward shore. Then they went and picked up
brother who was still swimming for dear life not even knowing the snorkeling boat was behind
him! All three of us kids were a complete mess! While on the boat, my sister, brother, and I were
in a quiet mood of panic. When I got back on the shore, I saw my mom smiling and then
laughing. At first, I was a little irritated because she was laughing and her kids could have been
killed! But then after my mom told me she knew we would be safe because one of the workers
was already coming to get us, but the other snorkeling boat saw us first. This is my experience
when I went canoeing and then got stuck in the middle of the ocean. We then got picked up by a
snorkeling boat and then safely got back to the shore to realize my mom was laughing. Getting
lost in the middle of the ocean is not fun, so remember, make sure you know how to canoe before
you go out in the ocean and do it! Even though this experience doesn t impact me on a day to day
basis, I can still remember as if it just happened

Covering a period which starts with the Hundred Years War already in full swing, contains the
start of the Wars of the Roses and ends with last English king to die in battle the level of
participation of the aristocracy and the roles which they fulfilled is a natural continuation of the
topic, especially given how kings can be lauded or vilified for their participation or non

otherwise notable figures in the battles who had much greater military command, often give

There were fewer high level aristocrats who went along with the Black Prince s chevauchee s in
France during the early 1350 s and more Knights of the Garter, which was an honour often

However the first expedition in the period involved the Earls of Warwick, Oxford and Stafford
as well as a number of knights and each of the three earls was placed in charge of a battalion and,
rather than fighting any French they instead sacked the town of Languedoc. The next was 1359 60

Lewy Body Dementia
Lewy body dementia (LBD) is a common form of progressive dementia that affects approximately
1.4 million Americans today which makes it the second most prevalent form of dementia behind
Alzheimer s. LBD is formed when lewy body proteins grow in the area of the brain that controls
thinking, memory and motor movement. Generally, there are two types of braindiseases that are
affected by lewy bodies; Parkinson s disease with dementia and dementia with Lewy bodies.
Discovered by famous neurologist Frederic Lewy, lewy body dementia can affect a person s
ability to perform daily task, cause mood changes and sometimes leads to brain tumors and strokes.

becoming increasingly social with 80% reporting being part of a gaming community (Fredrickson).
This study states that online games provide a communication tool to people since social

Is Broken, published in 2011 by the Penguin Group, discusses why games make people better and
how they can change the world. Among the chapters, chapter 5, Stronger Social Connectivity,

Appealing to logos means persuading readers by the use of reasoning, and helps to support
claims or arguments logically. Firstly, she gives an account of happy embarrassment by citing
an expert s points. Happy embarrassment is when people tease each other, and it brings out
slight emotions of hurt and embarrassment. McGonigal says that teasing each other is one of the
fastest and most effective ways to intensify people s positive feelings for each other (McGonigal
84). To support her points, she draws on Dacher Keltner, who is a leading researcher of prosocial
emotions at the University of California, and talks about his experiments on the psychological
benefits of teasing. McGonigal provides reliable data or citations from experts, instead of using
only her assertions. The reason she mentions experts is to make readers believe her data are
reliable or credible. If McGonigal had given ambiguous data or only her own experience, readers
would have thought of her arguments as unreliable or doubtful so that they might not easily agree
with her points. Therefore, she uses opinions from various experts to avoid readers becoming
suspicious of her information. While McGonigal mentions Keltner s points, she does not simply
cite experts thoughts. She smoothly joins her points to the expert s points by writing, Keltner s

Suffragette Movie Essay
I was given the opportunity to watch the movie Suffragette. The movie illustrated the struggle
women endured while pursuing the right to vote. Lives of actual women who participated during
the movement were illustrated in the film along with fictional characters. I used the full names of
real life characters, and just the first name of fictional characters in this essay.
In watching the plot unfold I could not help but notice the social structures and emotions fall in to
design. The characters covered realistically: nuclear families, role conflict, role distancing,
dramaturgical analysis, social groups, deviance, crime, social stratification, government power and
policy ending with altruistic suicide, and the impact of global village.
The opening sketch begins with a young woman named Maud who works in a laundry with her

to condone the social deviance Maud is taking part in. Maud experiences role strain and she flips
out, attacking her employer when he makes yet another sexual advancement on her.

The Cation Exchange Gel Samples
The cation exchange gel samples are labelled IEX 19 22 as these were the tubes with the highest
activity as shown in the above table. The other IEX fractions had significantly lower specific
activities so were less likely to contain the protein of interest and more likely to contain unwanted
proteins than the higher specific activity fractions. Only the higher specific activity fractions were
chosen for this reason. All the fractions that were analysed by gel electrophoresishave the same
banding patterns which means that they can be combined to get a combined total for the yield
calculations. This has then been used to calculate the amount that there would have been if the
entire solution was used for this process. However, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is seen in the gel electrophoresis where there is a greater number of bands for dye 9 11 than
there is for the IEX tubes. The fold purification was expected to be between 3 7 fold as found on
the BRENDA web page (2017), for this experiment a 1.4 fold (492404/349710) increase in activity
was seen after dye ligand chromatography. The retrospective yield was like cation exchange
which also gave an impossible result considering the after dialysis yield. It is difficult to say
which yield is more accurate. The after dialysis yield measured may be lower than its true value or
the error created by averaging the different tubes and treating them as if the entire sample has
overestimated the amount of LDH present. Although there are more bands on the gel there is a
lower retrospective total protein for dye ligand than there is for cation exchange 43.2 mg and 55.9
mg respectively. This could indicate that although there is a greater number of bands the ratio of
LDH to unwanted proteins may be higher. This technique has gotten rid of the band that was
present in cation exchange but has different bands present which shows that the two purification
techniques are targeting LDH in different ways.
Affinity chromatography relies on the protein ability to bind to specific molecules tightly but not
covalently. This technique uses a ligand bound to the matrix that is capable of specifically binding
to the protein. When the impure solution is passed through the

The 6th Millennium BC Bandkeramik Culture
After the last ice age, the European continent was transformed as climate warmed and sea levels
rose. Increased rainfall and warmer temperatures allowed communities to depend more on plant
foods and exploit their surroundings. Communities took advantage of new resources and grew in
size and complexity as hunter gatherers became farmers. Farming spread into Europefrom
Southwest Asia. Both DNA analysis of European skeletal remains and domesticated plant and
animal species confirm that migration of farmers helped spread agricultureinto Europe. The first
farming settlements mainland were established around 6500BC in east central Greece on

one of the most famous. Chambered tombs also became common containing the remains of
hundreds of people. The Carnac area in southern Brittany contains clusters of impressive
monuments including stone rows and adjacent burial mounds. Many axes that were found within
these mounds have been compared using spectroradiometric analysis and are tracked back to other

easily accessible via land are starting to run dry and are becoming harder to find. This is why we
have begun to see more and more offshore oil drills. Although there are benefits of offshore
drilling such as profit, lower gas prices, and becoming less dependent on foreign oil. There are also
many drawbacks in which if something were to go wrong, the mistake would be catastrophic
impacting the environment, the nature, and have trickling effects all around the world.
When people hear the word oil it is commonly interpreted as gas, but the oil that we drill is not
what goes into our cars. The oil that is retrieved from the ground is called crude oil, Oil in its raw
natural form and when it becomes refined it is used in plastics, rubber, and gasoline. Gasoline is a
volatile, flammable liquid obtained from the refinement of petroleum, or crude oil. It was originally
discarded as a byproduct of kerosene production. The first oil well was found and harvested in
Titusville, Pennsylvania by a man named Edwin L. Drake, in 1859. The well was about 70 feet
deep (How gas). It pumped between 20 40 barrels a day

Explain How Human Geography And Physical Geography
How human geography and physical geography overlap The influence of natural environment of
human activity are very huge. First of all, we have terrains. The influence of terrains on rural
tribes is very apparent. Rivers in plain area is less, and the terrain is complete, open and flat. So
the shape of the village assumes the circular or irregular polygon and more concentrated.
However, in river less area, villages along the river or valley stretching and villages scattered and
quite small. Second , the water. Villages are generally close to the water. In the water supply
adequate areas, Village is concentrated and have large scale. In water supply scarce areasпјЊthe
village is fragmented and smaller. In dry and desertareas, village is distributed in the area rich in
oasis or groundwater.
The third one is climate. If area rich in precipitation, most of the roof are inclined. This is in favour
for the rain come down. And most of the plants are very good live in the more water areas. So
people usually use bamboo to build their house. Because of the rain is very often, the ground and
the air are very damply. So people s houses usually impending. The less rainfall area home usually
use flat roof. So people usually use earth and rocks to build their house.
The fourth one is temperature. When the areas in the high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Its importance role of providing a platform for unions to negotiate and bargain with their respective
airlines has minimized or prevented the extent of the damages strikes have on the airline industry.
Strikes, such as the one by ALPA, have been proven to be disastrous with regard to public interest.
RLA s role cannot be taken lightly as an absence of such an act would be extremely detrimental to
the airline industry and ultimately, United States commerce.
Although the RLA has proven to be effective, it is not without its shortcomings. Its loopholes and
limitation can and will be exploited as proven in the case of FedEx. Hence, it has to constantly be
reviewed and amendments by the Federal Government and Congress have to be made to the act if it
were to stay relevant with the ever changing times. Workers should be making the rights on whether
or not they want to be in a union, not their managers or even government bureaucrats.

Quality Management Issues of Shipping and Receiving
Quality Management Issues of Shipping and Receiving

Introduction
Professional Flooring Supply (PFS) is a wholesale distributor of flooring installation supplies
and sundries. PFS currently has 15 branches located in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma,
Colorado, Utah and Idaho. Each of these locations serves as a distribution point for resale
customers as well as a retail store front for flooring installers. PFS was founded in 1977 with a
location in Houston and in Fort Worth Texas. The company remained fairly small until 2005 when
they began expanding rapidly. PFS in the past has always used a hub and spoke model when it
come to distribution of inventory. The majority of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally, another major area of concern is when the inventory counts in the system do not match
what is physically on hand in the warehouse. This can occur for a number of different reasons. The
main cause however is poor cycle counting. PFS has implemented the use of cycle counts to insure
that inventory counts are done regularly to make sure everything matches and is correct. These
counts are being done in the middle of the day when the warehouse workers are trying to pull
inventory for deliveries, receiving in inventory, and picking inventory for customers who are there.
As previously mentioned a lot of times these items are not located properly so this worker is
rushing through the list trying to count the goods while performing all the other tasks and often
times misses items that may be in stock, just improperly located. That worker will then have to
write off that inventory causing the purchasing department to reorder the needed quantities to
satisfy customer orders.
Literature Review
The main focus of the solutions needed for PFS revolve around the management of the supply chain
and how that can be made into a more automated process that will lower the amount of possible
manual errors. Talib, Rahman, and Qureshi discuss the similarities of Total Quality Management
(TQM) and Supply Chain Management (SCM) and how they each are used in business processes.
They state The extant review of literature revealed that

Newborn Reflexes Research Paper
Newborn reflexes play an important role in the construction of the traction in the early stages of
development because they are the first well established driving structures from which an infant may
start to diversify themselves and create new schemes. Reflexive behavior is fixed; it does not allow
for voluntary control to achieve a goal. However, from three months on babies begin to establish the
first relationships between actions and feelings. They are very simple movements in appearance,
but require the implementation of neural connections; they are a fundamental first step.
Doctors consider reflexes routinely at birth. The absence of them virtually only occurs in the
context of serious diseases, which are generally detected in other ways. Newborns reflexes have

The Importance Of Light And Darkness In Heart Of Darkness
Joseph Conrad uses light and darkness in Heart of Darkness to demonstrate that humans are not
innately evil but rather a mixture of the two. The good then light can be overpowered by the evil
then darkness when the characters refuse to see the value of the individual. Conrad goes on to show
that lightcan embody evilinstead of goodness similar to how Dave Eggers uses light and darkness in
The Circle. Through this juxtaposition, both Conrad and Eggers highlight the ignorance and refusal
of the main character to see the evil within or the evil around.
Conrad focuses on the morality of man, his capability to discern right from wrong, and the
actions he makes in response to that understanding; however, there is a point where there is no
longer a way to return to the good. In conjunction with Marlow s journey in which he sees the
gradual growth of darkness, the darkness grows within the heart of those making the journey. The
mutual growth is because Africa itself, with its forests, its heat, and its mysteries, is only a symbol
of the larger darkness, which is in the heart of man ( Heart of Darkness 111). By the time a person
is in the heart of the jungle, the immorality has practically demolished any remaining good. One
such person is Kurtz who foolishly expose[s] himself to the wild irresistible allure of the jungle
and lo! the darkness [finds] him out ( Heart of Darkness 109). The jungle draws out Kurtz s malice

Social Movement In Australia
Behind every successful social movement is a well executed and planned system and strategy. One
of the most common frameworks of social change is Saul Alinsky s Community Organising, which
is where another common framework known as Feminist Organising developed from. These
frameworks remain relevant today, and more specifically Feminist Organising in relation to a rape
culture on Australian university campuses.
To be able to fully compare and contrast the two frameworks, it is important to understand their
backgrounds.
Saul Alinsky, the founder of Community Organising , began his long organising career in the late
1930 s in Chicago s Back of the Yards neighbourhood (Hancock, 2017). It was here that he took the
ideas of unions and spoke to leaders to expand the systems and strategies to help organise
disadvantaged urban neighbourhoods nationwide (Stall Stoecker, 1998). From here he generated
many community movements, published two books, produced multiple powerful organisations and
influenced an entire generation of organisers (Stall Stoecker, 1998). Feminist organising however,
is not associated with any particular person or social movement (Stall Stoecker, 1998). This ... Show

A major element of feminist organising is that the issue is local and personal. This is very
applicable to our group. Each of the four female members of the group have experienced rape
culture to different extents, and the one male of the group can relate to this through his own
experience and relationships with the women in his life. It also applies to the hierarchy of our
group. We don t necessarily have an appointed leader and each of us brings different skills and
perspectives. We came up with the idea for this campaign through the same strategy behind
conscious raising groups. As a group we discussed issues that affected us and that we felt passionate

Abstract
The United States Postal Service is one of the nations most thriving companies. It has over
600,000+ employees and is the second largest civilian employer in the United States. (DeHaven,
2010). While it is one of the countries most thriving businesses it is not void of faults. To prevent
the employees from being mistreated, most post office branches create unions. The unions not only
protect those who take advantage of the membership but the other employees of the United States
Postal Service (USPS) as well. This paper maps out the many benefits to being in the American ...

At the point that the certain branch of the USPS s union is certified the employer, the federal
government, would then be legally required to negotiate with the union, in good faith, a legally
binding contract covering all of the aspects of employment. (Office Professional Employees
International Union, 2011)
Like anything, with time comes changes and at some point employees might feel as if the contract
they have should be amended and at that point the negotiation process starts. The APWU would, at
this point, begin the negotiation process. To start the union would create a Contract Action
Committee (CAC) filled with active members. The CAC would then gather key information about
things the members want to amend and plan a contract campaign. This campaign should be created
with the intent to apply pressure to the employer. Once the campaign has started a bargaining team
should be formed and trained. This team will work close with the CAC and negotiate the contract
with the employer. The team will gather information from the union members and begin to lay
negotiation round rules to schedule out the location and time of negations. They will also arrange
leave for the union negotiators. After the guidelines have been set the next step in the negotiation
process is to form a strategy. In this process, the bargaining team should describe the planned
proposal, explain how it works, describe the problem that is

Russell On Truth
Bertrand Russell discussed certain problems he found with philosophy. Russell was concerned
about how much did we really know. There is the stuff we know with our mind when we have a
particular idea, and stuff we know through actually experiencing it which would justify it. But
how do we know if it is real, or even there, for that matter? Russell says, For if we cannot be sure
of the independent existence of object, we cannot be sure of the independent existence of other
people s bodies, and therefore still less of other peoples minds, since we have no groundsfor
believing in their minds except such as are derived from observing their bodies (Russell, 47). How

This brings us to knowledge of things. Russell believed that all of our knowledge, both knowledge
of things and knowledge of truths, rest upon acquaintance as its foundation. It is therefore important
to consider what kinds of things there are which we have acquaintance (Russell, 57). You know stuff
through acquaintance by directly experiencing it and you know stuff through description from
hearing what other have told you from there direct experiences. William James on the other hand
would have had different views than Russell in some aspects. James believed that you needed
more than just an idea to make something true, it needed power. James believes that truth is
dynamic rather than static. James feels truth happens when everything holds together, when what
you believe actually fits in with other things you also believe. While at the same time, James
believed something is false when it doesn t fit in with the systems of your beliefs. James said,
The most violent revolutions in an individual s beliefs leave most of his old order standing. Time
and space, cause and effect, nature and history, and one s biography remain untouched. New truth
is always a go between, a smoother over of transitions. It marries old opinion to new fact so as
ever to show a minimum of jolt, a maximum of continuity (James, 124). Truth is a web where each
belief contributes to support our other beliefs. James would have reacted

The Boeing 7e7
The Boeing 7E7
WACC Estimation
In order to evaluate the prospective IRRs from the Boeing 7E7, we first try to estimate an
appropriate required rate of return for accepting this project. The capital asset pricing model is
applied to estimate the cost of equity of the commercial aircraft division:
R_EC= ОІ_EC*(R_M R_f )+R_f where REC is the cost of equity capital of the commercial aircraft
division. ОІEC is the beta for the commercial division of Boeing. This beta is used instead of the
company s overall beta is because the 7E7 project is a project on the commercial aircraft section.
It will help to improve the evaluation process when comparing the WACC with the IRR. Rm is the

In addition, the downturn of business cycle and advance in video conferencing technologies also
affect the company estimation of future demand. It predicts that during the next 20 years,
economies will grow annually by 3.2%, and air travel will grow with GDP at an annual rate of
5.1%. According to this long term market outlook, it suggests that there will certain be a market for
7E7.
Market Share Airbus will launch their new large, long distance plane A380 in 2006. This plane can
be a dreadful competitive product to Boeing. If Boeing falls behind regarding innovations, fuel
efficiency and other attributes of a long haul airliner, it will soon lose its market share. In order for
Boeing to compete in the aviation industry, it is crucial to take on some risk and develop this new
7E7 project. This helps the company to fight against its competitors and recover from the slump in
the industry.
Financial Analysis The sensitivity analysis on IRR provided by the case in Exhibit 9 is
demonstrated in Table 3 in Appendix. With reference to the calculated WACC, 11.22%, most of
the circumstances considered in the sensitivity analysis suggest the acceptance of the 7E7
project. However, if the air travel demand worsened and sold only 1500 in the first 20 years, the
project will be abandoned even if there is a 5% premium in price. If the unit volume sold is equal to

Freud s Stages Of Development
1.From birth to a year and six months, Freud theorized that children go through an oral stage.
During this stage, children s pleasure focuses primarily on the mouth with chewing and biting as
the main sources of stimulation. Too much or too little satisfaction at this stage may cause the
children to smoke or eat often as an adult. Next, children go through the anal stagefrom age one
year and six months until age three. During this stage, pleasure stems mainly from bathroom
activities as children deal with their want for power. In adulthood, anal fixation may cause anal
retention or an extreme need for cleanliness. At three to six years, children experience the phallic
period. The phallic period focuses on pleasure stimulation from the genitals.... Show more content

encounter with three girls in nothing but bathing suits as well as the general manager of the store,
Lengel, who Sammy describes as a pretty dreary, observant Sunday school teacher. At first glance,
the short storyseems to be just that, but when taking a closer look, we can see that throughout the
story Updike expresses two different themes: desire and the power it wields and the mystery of
other minds. But what does Updike hope to convey to us, the readers, with these themes? As soon
as Queenie , Plaid , and Big Tall Goony Goony walk into the A P they demonstrate their power of
sexuality over all of the men in the store, attracting each and every eye in the building. The three
girls are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sammy, Stokesie (another male employee), and Lengel show varying degrees of interest, showing
the effectiveness of the girls strategy, but Lengel attempts to compromise it, thereby lessening their
power. Lengel embarrasses the girls by exploiting them for their behavior and suggesting that they
are dressed so inappropriately on purpose. Queenie tries to reclaim their superiority by responding,
We are decent and implies that Lengel is actually the one being inappropriate. The three girls
demonstrate an intense effect on the male employees of A P, Sammy in particular. Their actions
provoke the men into constant staring and making sly

  • 2. War Essay Weird silence filled the air. It was a cold and relatively peaceful night on January 2005. Almost all citizens hid in their rooms to protect themselves from the war. The sky was completely dark with no light on streets. All of a sudden, the dark silent night was put to an end as six year old Samar Hassan was screaming and crying. A car was approaching in the dark when several American soldiers were patrolling a main road of northern Iraqs Tal Afarwhich was a town rife with insurgents. Concerning that the vehicle might carry insurgents and suicide bombs, the soldiers began to flash lights and waved arms to indicate the car to stop. Thousands of Iraqis suffer from the pain and trauma caused by the war, but the story of Samar again stands out. Rakan, Samar s brother, was hit by a bullet in his spin which was the most vulnerable part of our body. He was seriously wounded in the tragedy, and he was sent to Boston for treatment after Hondros s photos were published. Although Rakan was fortunate enough to survive from the tragedy, he was again haunted by death. Rakan died three years after their parents s death when an insurgent attack badly bombing the house where they live in. * * * I remember the first time when my older sister left our family to study aboard for such a long time. It was a normal night dinner was served at 6:30, everyone took their own seat except there was a weird silence during dinner. No one would like to talk but have dinner quietly. I knew that my older sister cried when she said goodbye to us at the airport. It was her and also mine fist time being apart from each other in 17 years. On our way back home, my older sister texted us to read the letter that she hid in the car. I didn t read the letter until I locked my room s door. In the letter, my sister reminded me that I was the one who should take care of both my parent and little brother now. Also, she told me that she trusted me I could do it and she would always be there if I need any help. I cried. I cried so hard. But I could not make any noise so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ethics itself is how one conducts themselves in what they deem is an appropriate manner. It is the basis of our moral decisions and makes us who we are as people and influences our choices. There are different components in ethicsthat consist of, acting out of duty, good intentions, consequences, utility or outcome of one s actions and striving to be a virtuous person. Overcoming these vices and still maintaining a virtuous attitude shows true strength and virtuous character. This, I also believe, stands out as one of the important aspects of virtue. Even when difficult vices are set in front of you to choose along with the good, being virtuous would result in picking the right choice because it is simply that, the right thing to do. Augustine Aurelius, more commonly known by the name Saint Augustine, was quite astonishingly one of the most important and influential thinkers in history as we know it. Although he had extremely pessimistic views, his way of thinking towards contemporary political theory shaped his following and ideas into what is known about him today. Many critics target Augustine s pessimism, arguing that his fixation on sin and longing for the heavenly city deny the value of this worldly politics. (Lamb, 2014) Born in Tagaste in 354, he was particularly exposed to varying cultures and religion. Living in North Africa throughout his childhood, he saw and recognized the coexistence of these cultures and religions around the time of Emperor Constantine. The edict of religious tolerance took the forefront around 1313, and this inspired him to search for the truth. He set out to reach this goal after examining and reading the works of Cicero. His exhortation to love wisdom was what sparked the inspiration of Augustine to explore different doctrines that were presented at the time of his life. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Investigation Methods of Firearms Firearms can be investigated in many different ways. The most common way is examining the bullet. Bullet characteristics such as shape, impressions, and grooves can help determine what type of firearm the bullet was launched from. The same can be said for the bullets cartridge. You can identify what firearmwas used just from the cartridgeitself. When you load a cartridge into a firearm you will leave distinctive marks that can be identified. The cartridge doesn t necessarily have to be fired in order for certain identifiable marks to transfer therefore, they will exists the moment the cartridge is put into the firearm. The typical cartridge case is made out of brass. Plastic and steel are also materials that cartridge cases have been known to be made of. Cartridge cases are acknowledged of being softer than the other materials found in the firearm. Despite this, cartridge cases still have a variety of finishes. There will always be a mark where the inner working of the firearm meets the cartridge case. One method to determine the marks on a cartridge case is using a comparison microscope. Using the scope you can compare the cartridge cases against fire standards. Scientists first examine the standards in order to determine what firearm is constantly reproducing certain marks. The experts would then compare their findings to the evidence on the cartridge cases to see if they have any matches. There are two standard forms produced by the tool marks on a cartridge case. ... I attended a party on Friday night and observed for approximately 2 hours. The setting was a lingerie party at Gaia s Cradle. Gaia s Cradle is a living learning community at Northland, located next to the CSE building, in a historical two story home with six students residing. It is a learning community dedicated to gender, women s, and sexuality studies. Gaia s regularly holds educational events, and always offers free condoms and dental dams for anyone who needs/wants. As a setting, Gaia s is an extremely open, accepting, and diverse place. For the party, he house was decorated with art made from a previous event this week, photos of people with their bodies painted, and various lingerie (bras, stockings) hanging from the ceiling. College, especially college parties, can be a very dangerous place for women. Rates of sexual assault are extremely high on college campuses. These women likely mixed and brought their own drinks so they would know they aren t getting drugged. The men weren t worried about being drugged by drinking open solo cups of beer that were setting out in public. This is an example of male privilege. The internet offers many new advantages, and because of this, it has drawn an increasing number of aspiring entrepreneurs. For my business, I would take full advantage of the fortune of having the internet at my disposal, and follow the path of creating an online retailer primarily focused on clothing, and fashion. I am fully aware of the fact that there are numerous online retailers that are currently available, and that competition will be fierce. Because of this, I will need to use everything that I have learned so far in the business world in order to distinguish myself from me competitors. The initial step for starting my business would be for me to study from successful online retailers, and try to analyze the reason behind their success. I will then use this knowledge to apply it to my own site. Although it will be challenging, I will try my best to satisfy my customers by being reliable, and committed. After all, Amazon s success can be primarily attributed towards the excellent relationship, and commitment that they have towards their customers. In Donne s Holy Sonnet Death be not proud he uses second person narration to address Death as thou , thee and thy , death is not considered conceptually but anthropomorphised as the poems fundamental pride. In Death be not proud , we see how the rumination of death is shaped by Elizabethan values. Through the subverted Petrarchan structure and style, Donne s use of apostrophe denigrates the omnipotence of death and lowers its statue to the level of the poet. This corresponds with contextual religious values of certainty in external afterlife and death as a transitory stage. This... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Vivian s reversion to the punctuation, Death semicolon thou shalt die, is symbolic of the 1990s literature culture wars, as Edson argues that a personal interpretation of the text is crucial to understanding its virtues. This is seen as Donne s religious context only saw a mere pause, comma, between life and eternal life, whereas, modern existential beliefs see this transition as more potent and vivid, semicolon. This uncertainty can be seen through the final stage directions, the instant she is naked and beautiful, reaching for the light, which symbolises purity, peacefulness and hope. Therefore, we see the modern context produce an uncertain, yet uplifting approach to death. Donne s poem, The Sunne Rising, expounds how his view of life is shaped by relationships. We see this as the poet defies the natural order by apostrophising the Sun, Busie old foole. In Donne s context, the Sun was seen as the centre of the natural world and the source of energy and life. Donne s irritated, jesting tone denounces the Sun s power when compared with his lover. This is seen through the metaphorical description, This bed thy centre is, these walls, thy sphere, which extrapolates the apotheosistic nature of his relationship, and is ... Donna Tartt s The Secret History The Secret History Theme: The Effect That Choices/Tragedy Has Donna Tartt s novel expresses the idea that the choices made in our youth will have an impact on our later lives, be it a few images that create a shadowy presence in the mind of a person throughout their life, or a completely alternated series of life events. This novel provides the reader with excellent examples of how negative life events and choices can alter our thoughts and personalities for better or worse. All five major characters in this novel undergo some degree of change as they struggle to accept the true weight of their actions. To illustrate this idea, the character of Charles Macaulay experiences possibly the most prominent change over the course of this novel. He went on to tell Richard that It enabled me to do what I ve always wanted most; to live without thinking . After the first murder, Henry became even more rational than he was previously, spending a great portion of his time planning out how to get away and how to deal with Bunny. It is difficult to map out Henry s change in character as from the start he came across as listless and emotionally unresponsive but he markedly became even more strange and reclusive toward the end. It happened when I was only 10 years old, in the middle of the summer when I was on vacation in Turks and Caicos. While I was there, I was so eager and excited to canoe. Only the higher specific activity fractions were chosen for this reason. The fold purification was expected to be between 3 7 fold as found on the BRENDA web page (2017), for this experiment a 1.4 fold (492404/349710) increase in activity was seen after dye ligand chromatography. The retrospective yield was like cation exchange which also gave an impossible result considering the after dialysis yield. It is difficult to say which yield is more accurate. The after dialysis yield measured may be lower than its true value or the error created by averaging the different tubes and treating them as if the entire sample has overestimated the amount of LDH present. Although there are more bands on the gel there is a lower retrospective total protein for dye ligand than there is for cation exchange 43.2 mg and 55.9 mg respectively. This could indicate that although there is a greater number of bands the ratio of LDH to unwanted proteins may be higher. This technique has gotten rid of the band that was present in cation exchange but has different bands present which shows that the two purification techniques are targeting LDH in different ways. Affinity chromatography relies on the protein ability to bind to specific molecules tightly but not covalently. This technique uses a ligand bound to the matrix that is capable of specifically binding to the protein. When the impure solution is passed through the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These counts are being done in the middle of the day when the warehouse workers are trying to pull inventory for deliveries, receiving in inventory, and picking inventory for customers who are there. As previously mentioned a lot of times these items are not located properly so this worker is rushing through the list trying to count the goods while performing all the other tasks and often times misses items that may be in stock, just improperly located. The good then light can be overpowered by the evil then darkness when the characters refuse to see the value of the individual. Conrad goes on to show that lightcan embody evilinstead of goodness similar to how Dave Eggers uses light and darkness in The Circle. Through this juxtaposition, both Conrad and Eggers highlight the ignorance and refusal of the main character to see the evil within or the evil around. Conrad focuses on the morality of man, his capability to discern right from wrong, and the actions he makes in response to that understanding; however, there is a point where there is no longer a way to return to the good. In conjunction with Marlow s journey in which he sees the gradual growth of darkness, the darkness grows within the heart of those making the journey. • 30. Social Movement In Australia Behind every successful social movement is a well executed and planned system and strategy. One of the most common frameworks of social change is Saul Alinsky s Community Organising, which is where another common framework known as Feminist Organising developed from. These frameworks remain relevant today, and more specifically Feminist Organising in relation to a rape culture on Australian university campuses. To be able to fully compare and contrast the two frameworks, it is important to understand their backgrounds. Saul Alinsky, the founder of Community Organising , began his long organising career in the late 1930 s in Chicago s Back of the Yards neighbourhood (Hancock, 2017). It was here that he took the ideas of unions and spoke to leaders to expand the systems and strategies to help organise disadvantaged urban neighbourhoods nationwide (Stall Stoecker, 1998). From here he generated many community movements, published two books, produced multiple powerful organisations and influenced an entire generation of organisers (Stall Stoecker, 1998). Feminist organising however, is not associated with any particular person or social movement (Stall Stoecker, 1998). This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each of the four female members of the group have experienced rape culture to different extents, and the one male of the group can relate to this through his own experience and relationships with the women in his life. It also applies to the hierarchy of our group. We don t necessarily have an appointed leader and each of us brings different skills and perspectives. We came up with the idea for this campaign through the same strategy behind conscious raising groups. As a group we discussed issues that affected us and that we felt passionate about to find common ground and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Effects of the Union on the United States Postal Service The effects of the union on the United States Postal Service Brittney Horton University of Phoenix HRM 531 April 09, 2012 Alesha Alstoft Abstract The United States Postal Service is one of the nations most thriving companies. It has over 600,000+ employees and is the second largest civilian employer in the United States. (DeHaven, 2010). While it is one of the countries most thriving businesses it is not void of faults. To prevent the employees from being mistreated, most post office branches create unions. The unions not only protect those who take advantage of the membership but the other employees of the United States Postal Service (USPS) as well. At the point that the certain branch of the USPS s union is certified the employer, the federal government, would then be legally required to negotiate with the union, in good faith, a legally binding contract covering all of the aspects of employment. (Office Professional Employees International Union, 2011) Like anything, with time comes changes and at some point employees might feel as if the contract they have should be amended and at that point the negotiation process starts. The APWU would, at this point, begin the negotiation process. To start the union would create a Contract Action Committee (CAC) filled with active members. The CAC would then gather key information about things the members want to amend and plan a contract campaign. This campaign should be created with the intent to apply pressure to the employer. Once the campaign has started a bargaining team should be formed and trained. This team will work close with the CAC and negotiate the contract with the employer. The team will gather information from the union members and begin to lay negotiation round rules to schedule out the location and time of negations. They will also arrange leave for the union negotiators. After the guidelines have been set the next step in the negotiation process is to form a strategy. In this process, the bargaining team should describe the planned proposal, explain how it works, describe the problem that is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While I have maintained at least a 4.0 throughout my career thus far, that is evident through the rest of my application. What the application fails to elaborate on is the adversity that was faced during part of my high school career. During the summer break of my junior year, I decided to take on the challenge of a collegecourse, American History to 1877, in order to help eliminate the phenomena of summer learningloss. While this proved to be difficult with such a busy schedule, I was put my organization and management skills to the test. Up to exam week, I had maintained a strong A in the class. The weekly textbook readings and research papers were not an issue throughout the semester, impressing both me and my professor. It wasn t until the day that the final exam was available that all of my hard work and dedication was put in jeopardy. My grandfather, age 83, had been admitted into the hospital that day. • 33. Russell On Truth Bertrand Russell discussed certain problems he found with philosophy. Russell was concerned about how much did we really know. There is the stuff we know with our mind when we have a particular idea, and stuff we know through actually experiencing it which would justify it. But how do we know if it is real, or even there, for that matter? Russell says, For if we cannot be sure of the independent existence of object, we cannot be sure of the independent existence of other people s bodies, and therefore still less of other peoples minds, since we have no groundsfor believing in their minds except such as are derived from observing their bodies (Russell, 47). Russell believed that all of our knowledge, both knowledge of things and knowledge of truths, rest upon acquaintance as its foundation. It is therefore important to consider what kinds of things there are which we have acquaintance (Russell, 57). You know stuff through acquaintance by directly experiencing it and you know stuff through description from hearing what other have told you from there direct experiences. William James on the other hand would have had different views than Russell in some aspects. James believed that you needed more than just an idea to make something true, it needed power. James believes that truth is dynamic rather than static. James feels truth happens when everything holds together, when what you believe actually fits in with other things you also believe. While at the same time, James believed something is false when it doesn t fit in with the systems of your beliefs. James said, The most violent revolutions in an individual s beliefs leave most of his old order standing. Time and space, cause and effect, nature and history, and one s biography remain untouched. New truth is always a go between, a smoother over of transitions. It marries old opinion to new fact so as ever to show a minimum of jolt, a maximum of continuity (James, 124). The Boeing 7e7 The Boeing 7E7 WACC Estimation In order to evaluate the prospective IRRs from the Boeing 7E7, we first try to estimate an appropriate required rate of return for accepting this project. The capital asset pricing model is applied to estimate the cost of equity of the commercial aircraft division: R_EC= ОІ_EC*(R_M R_f )+R_f where REC is the cost of equity capital of the commercial aircraft division. ОІEC is the beta for the commercial division of Boeing. This beta is used instead of the company s overall beta is because the 7E7 project is a project on the commercial aircraft section. It predicts that during the next 20 years, economies will grow annually by 3.2%, and air travel will grow with GDP at an annual rate of 5.1%. According to this long term market outlook, it suggests that there will certain be a market for 7E7. Market Share Airbus will launch their new large, long distance plane A380 in 2006. This plane can be a dreadful competitive product to Boeing. If Boeing falls behind regarding innovations, fuel efficiency and other attributes of a long haul airliner, it will soon lose its market share. In order for Boeing to compete in the aviation industry, it is crucial to take on some risk and develop this new 7E7 project. This helps the company to fight against its competitors and recover from the slump in the industry. Financial Analysis The sensitivity analysis on IRR provided by the case in Exhibit 9 is demonstrated in Table 3 in Appendix. With reference to the calculated WACC, 11.22%, most of the circumstances considered in the sensitivity analysis suggest the acceptance of the 7E7 project.
