Dress codes in public schooling have recently been a controversial issue nation wide.
Mandatory uniform policy s measures and emphasize the benefits of students on specific behavioral
and academic outcomes. The arguments for the issue are just as strong as those against the issue.
There are two main points surrounding school uniforms: performance and school and reduction of
violence due to uniformity.

A dress code will allow students to make friends on their personal qualities, rather than appearance.
Too often students classify other students but the way they dress. Many students avoid some of
their classmates because of the way they dress, rather than trying to be friends with them (Brunsma
5 6). Students would make friends with people that have the same common interests with
themselves, rather than people that dress like them.
The anonymous author of Rules of Fashion says that the dress code is one thing that has served to
lower crime, violence, and increase attendance and increase learning at a lot of schools. And a

Each class is divided into four year groups: first years, second years, third years, and fourth years.

Guilt is the regret one experiences when they realise their action was not appropriate according to a
lawful or moral standard. In Fifth Business, by Robertson Davies, guilt was a major theme and was
essential throughout the novel. Davies used the three main characters, Dunstan Ramsay, Boy
Staunton, and Paul Dempster to illustrate the different effects of Mrs. Dempster s incident. The
way one is raised, the key disciplines they have developed and their way of thinking reflects how
they deal with guilt.
Boy Staunton was illustrated to have an interesting attitude. Through the lack of his morals and
principles he felt no guilt after the incident. I threw a snowball at you, and I guess it gave you a

Today, people spend excessive amounts of time watching TV or playing video games. Although
not all television shows and games endorse violence, the majority of them do. This violence can
have severe personality effects on children if unmonitored. Some of these effects include
depression, aggression, or lack of morals which can affect children later on in life.

In a study conducted by Dr. Brent, Conrad we discovered that the minority population on average
spend ample amount of time playing video games. Surprisingly by age 4, Nearly half the
population has played a video game. Within the next 4 years of a child s life that numbers jump to
around 81% who have played some form of video game. Conrad also finds that children under the

get tough. Malcom X wanted to improve his writing, Lupe Quintanilla wanted to learn English, and
I am motivated to receive a higher education. Drive, that is what all of these individuals have in
common. Something in our lives lead us down the path to better our educationit was a tough road
but being motivated kept us going. In Malcom X s short story, A Homemade Education, it talks
about how Malcom was in prison and how he wanted to better his vocabulary and writing so he

atmosphere built up by Daniel is completed by the unique orchestral sounds; feelings of woe,
suspense, fear, and uncertain conclusions are skillfully captured. The pace of the film, the various
scores, and a deeply driven character all sum up to a masterfully skilled piece of work. Scored by
Jonny Greenwood, lead guitarist from the band RadioHead, uses his skills as a composer to
deliver a unique sound that pairs well with the film. Described as RadioHead s jack of all trades,
Greenwood is skilled in plying not only the guitar, but also the xylophone, sampler, keyboards

Cornelius Eady is a Black American writer who focuses and writes widely on the topics of race
and society. His poetry is usually centered on jazz and blues, violence, home life, family life and
societal problems arising from questions of race and socioeconomics. Eady has written over twelve
books but the most popular include Brutal Imagination, Hardheaded Weather, Don t Miss Your
Water, The Gathering of My Name, and The Autobiography of a Jukebox. From this list, I chose to
explore the content of Brutal Imagination, The Gathering of My Name and Hardheaded Weather.
Brutal Imagination is based on a true story about a mom named Susan Smithfrom Union. South
Carolina. On October 25th, 1994, Smith told police she d been carjacked by a Black man, who
forced her out of her car and drove away with her two young sons still in the back of the vehicle
(Susan Smith Biography.com. 2014). She then blamed the death of her sons on this man but later
she confessed and was convicted of the murder of the boys and was sentenced to life in prison.
This book is made up of two cycles of poems, each confronting the same subject: the
characterization of a black man in white America. In this book, I plan to focus mainly on the first
cycle and touch briefly on the second. The first cycle includes four different sections. In section
one of cycle one, Eady writes about Susan Smith and Charles Stuart, two murderers who blamed
their crimes on nonexistent black attackers. The first poem is called How I Got Born (Eady 5), in
this poem the fictional young African Americanman is conjured up. In the upper right hand corner
of the page, Eady writes a note that explains who and what the speaker is: The speaker is the
young black man Susan Smith claimed kidnapped her children (Eady 5). In the first few lines of
the poem he says, Susan Smith willed me alive/ At the moment/ Her babies sank into the lake (l.
1 40). So right away he gives us a pretty straightforward explanation for what this poem is about
and what this section will be about. In the next few poems, the narrator discusses his existence and
reason for being created. Eady uses a lot of metaphors, similes and imagery in his poems, and he
does a phenomenal job with imagery.
