Gentrification Is A General Term For The Expansion Of...
Gentrification is a general term for the arrival of wealthier people in an existing urban district, a
related increase in rents and property values, and changes in the district s character and culture.
The word draws controversy not only in its definition and meaning but also in the impact it has
among human social life. It is a practice that is of ancient origin and has withstood the challenges
of evolving times and is still practiced in the contemporary world. Proposers and opponents alike of
the gentrifying phenomena take advantage of the numerous myths and misconceptions that
surround the practice to advance their arguments. Urban planners have rooted for the inclusion of
gentrification as one of the pillars of urban growth. With better economic status better roads, better
water supply system, better healthcare, reduced criminal activities and an overall uplifting of the
quality of life economically it is hard to argue against an overall gain from gentrification. Yet with
all this, it has been the source of a lot of widespread animosity between social classes. It has also
been blamed for a lot of cultural values erosion with in some instances complete override of the
indigenous ways of life that the original inhabitants subscribed to. Green development is an urban
development approach that utilizes green infrastructural growth and is aimed at alleviating negative
impacts, or ideally have a net positive impact, on the environmentand nearby ecosystems. Green

The Franciscan Order; a Victim of Its Own Success Essay
The Franciscan movement was a religious order that arose out of one man s ideologies and
beliefs. St. Francis of Assisi s ideals of absolute poverty, obedience, humility, and simplicity were
uncomplicated and basic, but during his life and even shortly after his death these ideologies were
gradually shifting and causing a great amount of debate. The immense size of the FranciscanOrder
combined with the mass amount of popularity that the Order gained made changes in the ideology
and objectives of Francis messages and teaching almost an inevitable necessity. Some could argue
that in many ways the Franciscan Order s original ideologies were a victim of the movement s
success. This is evident in the main rules of the Order, what the... Show more content on

Francis did not want any kind of class distinction in his Order. However, as the priests became
more in number, so did their demands for books and altars. And lastly was the matter of study,
Francis was against any kind of studying, he felt that it interfered with the notion of absolute
poverty and humility, but none of the priest friars were open to the idea of being entirely cut off
from any form of intellectual pursuit. They argued that education was required in order to
preach, convert and prevent heresy. The sheer size of the Order, accompanied by the feelings of
many of the new members with no direct loyalty to Francis made it nearly impossible for his
followers to maintain Francis ideals and objectives while he was still alive. New members in
distance provinces had no real or physical connection with the saint except for the popular piety
that his order had evoked. Many wanted rules within the Order changed, and with the large
number of reformers, it became more difficult for Francis to maintain the direction of the Order he
had founded. These were just the initial problems that the Franciscan Order faced, after the death
of Francis in 1226 many of the rules dealing with main ideologies began to shift from austere to
lax, and as a result there was a splitting and shifting in the faction.
Another problem with the Order was the ideal to live a life like Christ, to be a lowly person and

Defining Macbeth in William Shakespeare s Play Essay
Defining Macbeth in William Shakespeare s Play
The character of Macbeth is a classic example of a Shakespearean tragic hero. There are many
factors, which contribute to the degeneration of Macbeth of which three will be discussed. The
three points, which contribute greatly to Macbeth s degeneration, are the prophecies, which were
told to him by the witches, Lady Macbeth s influence and manipulation of Macbeth s judgment, and
finally Macbeth s long time ambition which drove his desire to be king. Under these influences
Macbeth s character degenerates from a noble, brave, loyal man to violent, murdering, tyrant
individual.
The prophecies, told by the witches, were one of the factors, which ... Show more content on

Lady Macbeth tells her husband,
When Duncan is asleep, his two chamberlains
Will I with wine and wassail, so convince ,
When in swinish sleep
Their drenched natures lie, as in a death,
What cannot you and I perform upon
The unguarded Duncan?
Macbeth is in struggle with his conscience but is goaded by Lady Macbeth to proceed with the
murder when she questions his manhood. Macbeth s image of himself forces him to reply,
I dare do all that may become a man;
Who dares do more, is none
As soon as Macbeth has performed the treasonous deed he immediately regrets his wrongdoing. At
this point of the play the audience can note the change in Macbeth s character. Macbeth s first
murder was a trying experience for him, however after the first murder; killing seemed to be the
only solution to maintain his reign of the people of Scotland. Therefore, it was Lady Macbeth who
introduced the concept of murder to Macbeth as the shortest way to obtain the crown that was
prophesied by the witches.
Macbeth s ambition also influenced his journey form hero to villain. However, Macbeth s ambition
had not been strong enough for him to kill the King. He declares,
I have no spur

Salsa Documentary Summary
Watching this documentary really expanded my knowledge of the rich history of salsa. Prior to
the documentary, my knowledge was very limited. Growing up in a Hispanic household, salsa
and other Spanish music was regularly playing. My parent pushed it on me and my brother,
encouraging to learn about our rich culture. So everything I knew about the salsa revolution
(before watching the documentary) came from my parents who really grew up listening to it and
who were constantly surrounded by it growing up. What I found interesting about salsa is it grew
out of the wish to move away from the norm of Latin music that was already placed at that. The
early form of salsa, Latin Boogaloo, allowed young Puerto Rican musicians a chance to express

How Did Anne Moody Contribute To The Civil Rights Movement
The abolishment of slavery in 1865 was only the beginning of a long, strenuous fight for African
American citizens in the United States. The abolition may have freed the slaves physically but did
not free them of the social injustices they had yet to endure. The African American civil rights
movement took place in 1954 through 1968. (history.com) The civil rights movement is described
as the struggle for social justice, a battle fought for blacks to be seen as equals under the laws of
the United states. Many people were involved in progressing the movement including but not
limited to Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr, Malcom X and Anne Moody. Throughout her lifetime
Anne Moody has had a major impact on the African AmericanCivil rights movement. Despite her
personal struggles, Moody used her life to promote the enlightenment and progression of African
American citizens. Moody s perseverance, hatred, and alienation contributed to her educational and
creative success as well as her contributions to the Civil Rights Movement in the novel, Coming of
age in Mississippi.
Essie Mae Moody also known as Anne Moody was born September 15, 1940 in Wilkerson
County Mississippi to Fred Moody and Elnire Davis. (briticanna.com) She was the eldest of nine.
After her parents divorced, Moody grew up with her mother nicknamed, Toosweet in Centreville
Mississippi. Meanwhile her father lived nearby in a town known as Woodville Mississippi. In

Nightingale s Reform And Career As A Nurse In British...
Road to Reform
Nightingale s reform and career as a nurse really took off in 1954 when she began working at
British hospitals during the Crimean War (Tunstall, 2016). She oversaw the introduction of the new
nurses at a military hospital in Turkey (Cohen, 1984). Nightingale worked in hospitals that had
terrible conditions. The bandages used for the patents were unsanitary, the water was rancid, and
the food was repulsive (Florence, 2016). The hospital itself was filled with rats and flees (Cohen,
1984). The building was on top of a sewer system causing dirty air to be pushed up in to rooms
overcrowded with patients (Cohen, 1984). The sheets were washed in cold water and were so
unclean that they had to be thrown out or burned most of the ... Show more content on

Nightingale began to classify these different deaths. Each death was classified as due to a
contagious illness (a disease), a wound or injury from war, or from other causes (things that fit in
neither of these categories) (Franklin, 2012).
The Calculations
After collecting and analyzing this data, Nightingale had to represent it in a way that policy makers
would understand (Tunstall, 2016). Most of these individuals did not have a background in statistics
or understand how to make sense of the data collected (Tunstall, 2016). Nightingale proceeded to
use various visual representation of her data as well as her numbers to prove the need for reform
(Cohen, 1984). She used line diagrams, line graphs, and scatter plots to represent her statistical data
(Franklin, 2012). Nightingale developed polar area diagram to easily show the data she collected
(Tunstall, 2016). The purpose of this diagram was to represent each category based on its size while
still maintaining the same angle for each one. she used this diagram to convey information about
different months in 1855 and the types of deaths that occurred (Tunstall, 2016) . On top of that,
Nightingale used different methods and comparisons to intentionally show the dramatic affect that
lack of sanitation had in military hospitals (Cohen, 1984).
Nightingale represented and provided a large amount of data as proof for the need to reform
hospitals. Nightingale was able to

Food Digestion Research Paper
Digestion begins when one sees food. Upon seeing food the brain sends signals for the salivary
glands to release saliva. When food is first placed into the mouth by taking a bite it is masticated
and broken down to increase the surface area so that food can be digested faster, as well as
allowing it to be swallowed. While being masticated food is moistened with saliva, which contains
Amylase, which begins the process of breaking down carbohydrates. Once thoroughly chewed
saliva forms the food into a clump, which is called a bolus. Once food is chewed and formed into
a bolus the tongue pushes the food to the back of the mouthinto the throat so that it can be
swallowed. Swallowing occurs by reflexes opening and closing the epiglottis, which... Show more

The bile that is released is produced by the liver, which then fills the bile duct before overflowing
and then being stored in the gallbladder, which then allows it into the duodenum through a duct.
In between meals the gallbladder absorbs water and electrolytes from the bile. The bile that is
released is used to emulsify fats, which is to make the fats separate into small droplets. This
allows them to be mixed with water and then acted upon by enzymes to further help their
digestion. It is easier for the lipids to be broken down once they are emulsified because they are
smaller and the lipase can attack it more completely. Bile itself is a green colored fluid that is
made of minerals, cholesterol, neutral fats, phospholipids, bile acids also called bile salts, and
bile pigments. Bilirubin is what gives the color to the bile, and it is produced from the
decomposition of hemoglobin as previously stated. Bile acids are steroids that are formed from
cholesterol. Both bile acid and lecithin, which is a phospholipid, help digest and absorb fats.
Anything else that is in bile is waste that will be excreted. In the end however around eighty
percent of the bile acids are reabsorbed in the ileum, which is the last section of the small intestine,
and they are returned to the liver where they are absorbed and re secreted by hepatocytes. The
circle of secretion and reabsorption is called the enterohepatic

Give Em The Pickle Analysis
After reading Give em the Pickle, I realized that I been viewing how to run a successful business
the wrong way. Focusing a business on just money and making a profit will not help a business
in the long run but focusing on the customers and their needs will keep the business going and
the money will fellow. Robert E. Ferrell had a hard life as a child but he was determined that his
past will not hurt he s future and he became a successful business owner and a great customer
service speaker. Learning from his mother that the customer is the boss Mr. Ferrell started Ferrell
Ice Cream Parlours in Portland, Oregon. The three things that I learned from reading Give em the
Pickle are the customer is the boss, you re not in business to make money, and view life through
your customer s eyes. When a business person stated to understand that the customer is the reason
that their business is up and running the sooner they will start treating the customer like the boss.

On December 7, 1941, while most American sailors were still asleep in their bunks, Japanese
planes flew over Pearl Harbor bombing every ship on sight. The surprise attack lasted less than
two hours. At that time, 2,400 Americans were killed, including over 1,100 when the battleship
Arizona sank, almost 1,200 were wounded, 20 warships were sunk or severely damaged, and
approximately 150 airplanes were destroyed. Immediately after the attack, all people of Japanese
descent became suspects of being capable of sabotage, and the success of the attack was assumed
to be the result of espionage by Japanese Americans living on the West Coast. President Franklin D.

Nabokov Letter To Lolita
Nabokov uses a letter to Humbert from Lolita to insure that although she says mean things about
him and repeatedly insults hum she does in fact feel a strong attraction to Humbert. Nabokov s
purpose in this excerpt is to convey how Loloita hides her love for Humbert by telling him to
leave. To achieve this hidden meaning Nabokov uses Lolitas dialogue and sarcasm. Although
Lolita knows she is in love with Humbert she thinks if she points out their differences in opinion
she may lose her feelings toward Humbert. Nabokov uses Lolita s tone towards Humbert to prove
she does love him even while she is saying things about him that she doesn t love. Nabokov
ultimately uses Lolita s dialogue to show hidden meaning in Lolita s letter.
Lolita feels very strongly about religion and doesn t appreciate he fact that Humbert is an
extremely unreligious man. Last Sunday in Church bad you who refused to come (Nabokov).
Lolita repeatedly reminds Humbert of his absence in Church even when he was asked to make
an appearance by Lolita and her mother. Lolita is trying to make herself feel worse about her
love for Humbert by convincing herself just how bad he really can be. The fact that Lolita is
very religious and Humbert isn t is another reminder for her of why she should forget this love she
has for him. Lolita is a very religious young girl and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

depressed and vulnerable Humbert just might feel bad enough to console her and tell her how he
feels about her. Lolita is extremely smart for her age and knows enough about Humbert to figure
out tricks to make her desires come to her, and she knows how to make Humbert feel sorry for

Blessed Be Research Paper
Blessed Be originates from The Five Fold Kiss , a ritual created by the found of Wicca, Gerald
Gardner, as the main Initiation Rite. It is commonly done during dedication and initiation rites.
The Five Fold Kiss ritual involves kissing five parts of the body and performed within a circle,
each kiss given is accompanied by a blessing. Blessed Be is used to grant the blessings of the
deity onto a person in a sacred way, asking the powers that be to invoke a person in countless
religions. Like countless many, I simply assumed that the term Blessed Be was a form of
granting blessing upon another person as we departed from one another; no different than
saying Good bye , but now I understand that it has a higher meaning than that. I do not use it in
my life at the moment as I am still learning and growing, but feel it may be used in future rituals
that I may either take part in or do myself. It is a term that I will only use when absolutely
necessary to ask the deities to bless someone or it is needed for myself during a ritual or casting.
I know now it is not something to be taken lightly. The term is used today by many Pagans and
Wiccans in their practices. Misinformed people may use it in terms as described above, to bless
someone in departure, as in saying Good bye . Though it is often used to call forth energies of the

pentagram. When wishing to get involved with something or learn something new, I feel like it is

International Students And Higher Education
International Students is rising in the U.S.
It is obvious that due the declining education funding and drooping domestic student enrollment
have forced many U.S. colleges and universities to adopt new revenue strategies and attracting
international students seems a reasonable solution. This strategy aims to bring more revenue to the
institutions as well a more diverse environment through a greater diversity of languages, cultures,
and perspective in the classroom.
According to Global Student Mobility, the global demand for international higher education is
growing rapidly, and it is forecast to rise from 1.8 million international students in 2000 to 7.2
million international students in 2025 globally. The U.S. higher educational system remains the
most respected and recognized, attracting the largest number of international students. The leading
contributors to the U.S. total are China, India, South Korea and the most recent one Saudi Arabia
sponsored by their scholarship program. Larger institutions tend to attract the most international
students, however, small institutions are not far behind.
I believe Ship should continue outreaching to the local International Community Colleges, develop
a more intense marketing strategy and recruitment plan for international students. Ship should be
keep using its location, accredited education and small size personalized attention as marketing

Differences Between Cadbury And Woburn Safari Park Ltd
Activity 1
Action Plan
What I want to achieve when I do my coursework is that I understand the differences and
similarities between the two businesses. I am going to do this is by using my own knowledge and
the internet and on various occasions my classroom notes. This should take me a while to
complete as I would be going in depth about information and expanding on key points. I will be
including different ideas that I have discovered.
The businesses I have chosen to discuss are Cadbury Plc and Woburn Safari Park ltd. I have
chosen these two businesses as they are different in both what they offer and who they target.
Cadbury is international and Woburn Safari Park is local to where I live.
Introduction
The purpose or this assessment is for me to compare and contrast the following two, Woburn
Safari Park and Cadburys plc. Now to start off with I will be providing useful information on both
Cadburys and Woburn; defining the definition of a business. A business is an organization where
goods and services are exchanged for one another or for money. Cadburys plc is a multinational
company which produces products such as chocolates, drinks and milkshakes. On the other hand,
Woburn Safari Park entertains tourists and pedestrians with their variety of different animals you
can interact with and witness at a live safari!

Gaming And The Media Industry
Gaming, the growing titan of the media industry, has affected almost everyone in some way,
even if they do not play games themselves. Everyone knows at least one person that plays games,
and whether they play them on a computer, a console, or a mobile device, their gaming has most
likely affected their relationships and health in some way. They could cancel events with friends
using the excuse that their World of Warcraft raiding guild won t wait for their real life, or they
may suddenly shave off a lot of belly fat, and credit their excessive play of Wii Sports Club for
their rapid boost in physical health. The two games mentioned prior, one being a massively
multiplayer online roleplaying game(MMORPG) and the other being a fitness game, are
completely different, and thus, effect the people that play them in different ways. On top of that,
the differences between these two games are just an insanely small snapshot of the variety of
games. Just like works of literature, there are several different genres that define games such as:
platformer, simulation, education games, and many more. This variety of genres attracts many
diverse groups of people, and this allows gaming to effect large groups of people in a multitude of
ways. At face value, it may just seem like a form of entertainment, but this power that video games
have over significant portions of the masses allow them to change how people interact with
themselves and others. There are several positive mental and

Pros of having an effective online support group would be accessibility, being able to free from
the constraints of time and distance. Members could also feel free to join late and leave early
when life s circumstances needed them to do so. Participants could also gain clarity from writing
their feelings and self expressions down in order for others to read. Sufferers of rare conditions
could meet over long distances and share their trials and tribulations with each other. Drawbacks of
possible internet support groups would include the technology required to access such groups,
slower responsiveness or feedback to thoughts and emotions especially if those thoughts are of
hurting one s self or others. Inevitably the disinhibition that people sometimes feel leads to a toxic
group environment and a lack of empathy. Falseness also is a large issue to be addressed since
there is no concrete evidence that participants are who they claim they

The Act Of Demobilisation By George Mosses
The act of demobilisation involves the standing down of armed troops. In the case of the loss of
the First World War, once the armistice was signed, Germany needed to return their forces home
from the Eastern and Western fronts. No formal plan took place, but a speedy operation ensued to
try and avoid disgruntled and agitated soldiers.
Some historians such as Detlev Peukert and Richard Bessel would agree in the successfulness of
the act of demobilising the German troops, commenting that, The first phase of demobilization
went through astonishingly smoothly. However, a glance at home and the private sphere shows
that demobilisation was a far more contested process. As Maureen Healy would argue, civilizing
the soldier was not as simple ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of the German defeat, plans for a gradual demobilisation, as drawn up in 1916, were
forgotten about. The terms of the armistice treaty stated all German troops must be returned
home within 31 days, which was accepted and a speedy demobilisation was further encouraged
with the soldiers determination to be home for Christmas; ...the troops could think of only one
thing : we want to be at home for Christmas. Because of this urging desire to get home as quickly
as possible, many soldiers decidedly made their own journeys home, which was found to be not as
chaotic as expected, but actually made the process of demobilisation easier, as Bessel insinuates,
Rather than make more difficult the task of getting the soldiers back home, it may have done just
the opposite. Therefore, with the means of demobilising the troops being simplified in such a way,
and quickly acted upon, the course of returning the soldiers home was surprisingly successful,
especially after considering the demoralised and hurried nature of the process.
However, this is not all that should be considered when contemplating the demobilisation of the
German soldiers. Although the act of bringing the soldiers back from the Western and Eastern
fronts was seemingly effective, introducing them into society can be construed differently; as
highlighted by Maureen Healy Demobilization did not take place at the instant when a man was
discharged from

The Victimization of Teenage Girls
What does it mean to be a girl according to society? How does society see it? In many countries,
a girl is seen as powerless, uneducated, and too emotional to handle a man s job. For example,
women in Saudi Arabia are not allowed to drive. In the past, writers used to describe a woman s
role as the victim of many forms of discrimination in the United States of America. In other words,
women were only involved in things that men thought were not important. For instance, women did
not have any other role than being a housewife. They had to stay at home, watch the children, be
responsible, and do all the chores. Nonetheless, American women got their freedom earlier
comparing to other countries in the world. Now they are more independent, more... Show more

Kerry Cohen, as a practicing psychotherapist and writing teacher, provides in her book different
resources and website where teen girls can get more information about these symptoms.
Another second reason why teen girls are victimized is the culture of this society. Teen girls are
told to be princesses when they are small. However when they are grown up they are told by their
parents that they are too young to use inappropriate cloth. When they go out and meet other teens
who wear sexy cloths, they are getting mixed feeling about it. Another example is when they watch
TV they see girls in sexy cloths and they automatically think that it is right. The TV uses girls in
bikinis to attract the audience. Even more, when teen girls go to school, they want to fit in their
group of friends by wearing the same cloths because that is what they make them seem cool.
Therefore, how they are seen by others is more important than anything. Image comes first. They
must do anything to fit in the Cinderella s shoe. Likewise, on the short story, Where Are You
Going, Where have You Been written by Joyce Carol Oates, Connie wants attention at all costs.
She enjoys when men are looking at her. Connie s mother never agrees with her that she is
beautiful. Instead, Connie s mother criticizes her and compares her with June, her older sister.
Then, Connie develops a low self esteem because her family is not accepting her sexual
admiration. For example, there is a part on

Recently, the Center for the Study of Rural Vehicular Trauma at the University of South Alabama

rural motor vehicular crashes (MVCs) (Baker SP, O Neil B, Ginsburg MJ, 31) This states that
they are spending more time getting to the scene and being able to spend less time on the patient
because EMS know that the drive to a hospital that can take them will be a long drive and each
minute counts for any patient with a trauma incident. Mortality rates from rural vehicular trauma

The Pros And Cons Of The Council Of Ephesus
To please the Council of Ephesus and the Church, Cyril of Alexandria and John of Antioch agreed
on a compromise that met the concerns of both sides. This compromise stated that Jesus was both
the perfect God and perfect man composed of rational soul and body...consubstantial to the Father
as to his divinity and consubstantial to us as to his humanity (Kereszty, pg. 248). This meant that
Jesuswas a human of divine nature, recognizing these two physeis. Unfortunately, this compromise
did not last long. After Eutyches was convicted by the synod in Rome, he appealed to other
Bishops. This lead to the rise of the Monophysite movement, headed by Eutyches.
Monophysitism believed that Jesus had one nature rather than the Chalcedonian belief that

locals (the Country People) are harassing them because of their decision to stay at the cottage
past Labor Day. Do you believe the locals are actually doing this or do you believe the Allisons
are simply paranoid and imagining this? Please respond in a concise, well written three paragraph

In Shirley Jackson s short story, The SummerPeople the Allisons decided to stay at their summer
cottage past labor day. This decision, however may not have been for the best. After making this
decision the Allisons began to become paranoid as things started to not go their way. First of all
the townspeople began to question them as to why they wanted to stay. They informed them that
no one had ever stayed past Labor Day. The Allisons also had to deal with the fact they could no
longer buy kerosene or have their groceries delivered as they had during the summer months. They
also received an interesting letter from their son that left them feeling confused and a bit concerned
because it did not sound like their son s writing. Lastly they had things in their house that were
braking such as their phone. Their car also had somehow broken and was no longer functioning. All
of these occurrences startled the Allison. They couldn t understand how they had been able to live

Oppression In John Steinbeck s The Grapes Of Wrath
Introduction On June 6, 2014, two tornadoes tore through the small town of Pilger, Nebraska. After
the storm ended, the residents of the town banded together to rebuild their town. Over the next two
years, the residents of Pilger worked together to rebuild their community with the help of many
other communities around them. Though their town had been destroyed, the community united in
the midst of it all to rebuild their homes (Driscoll). In John Steinbecks The Grapes of Wrath, the
migrant workers faced opposition from Californian residents. Like the people in Pilger, Nebraska,
the migrant workers worked together to help one another out. In The Grapes of Wrath, Steinbeck
focuses on the central idea that when society is against a group of people, the people band together
to help one another out. To accomplish this, Steinbeck uses excellent characterization to show how
each of his unique characters united with others when faced with oppression.

Managing Crude Oil Using Derivatives
MANAGING CRUDE OIL USING DERIVATIVES
The present price markers for crude oil are WTI, Brent and Dubai/Oman. The crude oil
derivatives contracts are traded on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX). The
exchange acts as a regulatory body and as a financial trading forum for all the parties interested
in buying the options. Members of the exchange carry out the trades themselves, or they act on
behalf of the firms they represent through an open outcry auction held in the trading room or the

If the price of oil is tripled in a year then the company is able to purchase oil at the last years
locked in price, which is lower than the current price, which in turn helps the company to save a
lot of money (Grabianowski, 2009). But, if the price of oil falls then the company ends up paying
more and loses money.
There are different types of financial instruments available for companies and investors to hedge
against crude oil price volatility. These instruments can be traded financially without the tangible
physical delivery of crude oil and different instruments have different time periods. Some of the
hedging tools are Options, Futures and Swaps. But for this paper we will only focus on option
contracts for management of risk in crude oil trading.
OPTIONS
The modern day financial options market came into existence in 1973. It was known as the
Chicago Board Options Exchange. During the same year, Fisher Black and Myron Scholes
invented a formula to calculate the price of an option using specific variables. This formula was
later called the Black Scholes Pricing Model and it had a huge impact on investors as they became
confident about the idea of trading options. As of today there are thousands of option instruments
(stocks, bonds and currency) listed in the market and millions of them are traded every day.
Options offer extra flexibility to buyers for managing currency or price risk as they work like an
insurance policy. Call option and Put option

Psalm 23 Exegesis Analysis
Psalm 23 Exegesis
Psalm 23 is a realistic hopeful passage written by David about the presence of trials in his life
versus the provision and relationship the Lord has for him. This Psalm is filled with metaphors and
creative imagery that is best understood through contextual knowledge. Much of David s writing in
this passage is about his struggles and trials, while the rest is essentially about the faithfulness of
God. Psalm 23:1 says The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. . According to Schmoop.com,
the word want means lack , meaning that David is saying he will not lack anything because the
Lord is His shepherd ( The Lord is My Shepherd ). David says in Psalm 23:2 that the Lord makes
him lie down in green pastures . However, in Israel there are no green pastures, in the more
commonly associated definition. There are no pastures that are actually green in Israel
therefore it is only an allusion to the metaphor of the Lord being David s shepherd. A shepherd
will lead his flock of sheep to grassy pastures to eat. This reaffirms David s statement that he will
not lack. Him referring to God as his shepherd and saying that he will make him to lay down in
green pastures means that the Lord will have him lie down (rest) in places of provision
/sustenance similar to a shepherd leading his sheep to sleep in a rich pasture (Know, That the
World May, Green Pastures. ). David also says that God will lead him by still waters : another
metaphor of rest. In Psalm 23:3,

Hammertoes Research Paper
Why Hammertoes Will Not Heal On Their Own
The feet are the foundation of the body. Often, people don t even realize how much they use and
rely on them. Nevertheless, if foot problems occur, the value of keeping feet healthy and happy is
undoubtedly becomes an understatement. One s daily life, health, and the level of participation in
enjoyable activities, can all be greatly impacted by problems of the feet.
One issue that can arise is called hammertoes. Simply judging by its name, it may be hard to take
this foot problem seriously at first. However, it s important not to be fooled. This buckling, or

Hammertoes occur due to a muscle and tendon imbalance around the joint of the toe, causing the
joint to curl and possibly become buckled in an arched position. Although this does have an
aesthetic impact of the foot s appearance, it really shouldn t viewed as a mere cosmetic concern. As
a structural deformity, hammertoes can often make walking difficult. They can also cause the
development of painful corns, and lead to other concerning foot problems.
People can get hammertoes for a variety of reasons. One leading cause is genetics. Those with
inherited foot types, such as flat feet or high arches, have feet that are less stable and are often
predisposed to develop this deformity. Other factors that can lead to hammertoes include:
Wearing Shoes That Are Too Tight/Small: footwear that puts too much pressure on the toes or
pushes them together, like pointy toed high heels, can create the joint and ligament misalignment
that causes hammertoes.

My Father And My Brother
As a child, my brother Jean and I were not always very close, even though we are fairly close in
age. As children, we went to school together and grew up learning the importance of family values,
particularly the meaning of sticking together. Every day we walked to school together. Before we

children and did not always follow all the rules. Also, Jean was more stubborn than I and did not

lesson about the value of my family and sticking together changed my life. It was a warm day
towards the end of the school year, and everyone was anxious to start summer vacation.
Throughout the day at the elementary school, I would see Jean about two times a day. Close to
the end of the day, and the sunlight beaming into my fifth grade classroom felt like a hundred

Enthroned Madrandonna And Child With Saints Summary
Piero della Francesca s art has always been intriguing to the eyes of the lookers, analysers, every
art pieces containing lots of symbolism and meanings. The Altarpiece Madonna and child with
Saints adored by Frederico da Montefeltro was one of the work. Piero della Francesca was born in
1412 and was involved in the Early Renaissance movement. His style involved the use of
humanism, geometric forms and use of perspective to create art. From what I saw in the piece
Enthroned Madonnaand Child with Saints, the first thing I saw was a group of people
surrounding a woman with a baby. The atmosphere of the piece seems to be solemn and grief
even though the painting was painted in bright colours. It was the facial expressions of the people
that depict that it may not be a joyous event. The knight was at the forefront of the painting and
almost seems to be bigger than anyone else, it may suggest that he s important in the piece. Piero
also used linear perspective in the altarpiece, creating a sense of depth and the vanishing point at
around Marys eyes. With the use of geometry, Piero managed to create the background
architecture with such clarity which a lot of artists at that time couldn t achieve. Into further
observation, instead of thinking that the baby was bleeding, he was wearing a red necklace. The
red colour can be represented as blood pouring out of the baby, a symbol of life and death. From
the way the baby was positioned, it may be assumed that the baby is either

  • 2. Gentrification Is A General Term For The Expansion Of... Gentrification is a general term for the arrival of wealthier people in an existing urban district, a related increase in rents and property values, and changes in the district s character and culture. The word draws controversy not only in its definition and meaning but also in the impact it has among human social life. It is a practice that is of ancient origin and has withstood the challenges of evolving times and is still practiced in the contemporary world. Proposers and opponents alike of the gentrifying phenomena take advantage of the numerous myths and misconceptions that surround the practice to advance their arguments. Urban planners have rooted for the inclusion of gentrification as one of the pillars of urban growth. With better economic status better roads, better water supply system, better healthcare, reduced criminal activities and an overall uplifting of the quality of life economically it is hard to argue against an overall gain from gentrification. Yet with all this, it has been the source of a lot of widespread animosity between social classes. It has also been blamed for a lot of cultural values erosion with in some instances complete override of the indigenous ways of life that the original inhabitants subscribed to. Green development is an urban development approach that utilizes green infrastructural growth and is aimed at alleviating negative impacts, or ideally have a net positive impact, on the environmentand nearby ecosystems. • 3. The Franciscan Order; a Victim of Its Own Success Essay The Franciscan movement was a religious order that arose out of one man s ideologies and beliefs. St. Francis of Assisi s ideals of absolute poverty, obedience, humility, and simplicity were uncomplicated and basic, but during his life and even shortly after his death these ideologies were gradually shifting and causing a great amount of debate. The immense size of the FranciscanOrder combined with the mass amount of popularity that the Order gained made changes in the ideology and objectives of Francis messages and teaching almost an inevitable necessity. Some could argue that in many ways the Franciscan Order s original ideologies were a victim of the movement s success. This is evident in the main rules of the Order, what the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Francis did not want any kind of class distinction in his Order. However, as the priests became more in number, so did their demands for books and altars. And lastly was the matter of study, Francis was against any kind of studying, he felt that it interfered with the notion of absolute poverty and humility, but none of the priest friars were open to the idea of being entirely cut off from any form of intellectual pursuit. They argued that education was required in order to preach, convert and prevent heresy. The sheer size of the Order, accompanied by the feelings of many of the new members with no direct loyalty to Francis made it nearly impossible for his followers to maintain Francis ideals and objectives while he was still alive. New members in distance provinces had no real or physical connection with the saint except for the popular piety that his order had evoked. Many wanted rules within the Order changed, and with the large number of reformers, it became more difficult for Francis to maintain the direction of the Order he had founded. These were just the initial problems that the Franciscan Order faced, after the death of Francis in 1226 many of the rules dealing with main ideologies began to shift from austere to lax, and as a result there was a splitting and shifting in the faction. Another problem with the Order was the ideal to live a life like Christ, to be a lowly person and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Defining Macbeth in William Shakespeare s Play Essay Defining Macbeth in William Shakespeare s Play The character of Macbeth is a classic example of a Shakespearean tragic hero. There are many factors, which contribute to the degeneration of Macbeth of which three will be discussed. The three points, which contribute greatly to Macbeth s degeneration, are the prophecies, which were told to him by the witches, Lady Macbeth s influence and manipulation of Macbeth s judgment, and finally Macbeth s long time ambition which drove his desire to be king. Under these influences Macbeth s character degenerates from a noble, brave, loyal man to violent, murdering, tyrant individual. The prophecies, told by the witches, were one of the factors, which ... Lady Macbeth tells her husband, When Duncan is asleep, his two chamberlains Will I with wine and wassail, so convince , When in swinish sleep Their drenched natures lie, as in a death, What cannot you and I perform upon The unguarded Duncan? Macbeth is in struggle with his conscience but is goaded by Lady Macbeth to proceed with the murder when she questions his manhood. Macbeth s image of himself forces him to reply, I dare do all that may become a man; Who dares do more, is none As soon as Macbeth has performed the treasonous deed he immediately regrets his wrongdoing. At this point of the play the audience can note the change in Macbeth s character. Macbeth s first murder was a trying experience for him, however after the first murder; killing seemed to be the only solution to maintain his reign of the people of Scotland. Therefore, it was Lady Macbeth who introduced the concept of murder to Macbeth as the shortest way to obtain the crown that was prophesied by the witches. Macbeth s ambition also influenced his journey form hero to villain. However, Macbeth s ambition

Growing up in a Hispanic household, salsa and other Spanish music was regularly playing. My parent pushed it on me and my brother, encouraging to learn about our rich culture. So everything I knew about the salsa revolution (before watching the documentary) came from my parents who really grew up listening to it and who were constantly surrounded by it growing up. What I found interesting about salsa is it grew out of the wish to move away from the norm of Latin music that was already placed at that. The early form of salsa, Latin Boogaloo, allowed young Puerto Rican musicians a chance to express themselves ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Nightingale s Reform And Career As A Nurse In British... Road to Reform Nightingale s reform and career as a nurse really took off in 1954 when she began working at British hospitals during the Crimean War (Tunstall, 2016). She oversaw the introduction of the new nurses at a military hospital in Turkey (Cohen, 1984). Nightingale worked in hospitals that had terrible conditions. The bandages used for the patents were unsanitary, the water was rancid, and the food was repulsive (Florence, 2016). The hospital itself was filled with rats and flees (Cohen, 1984). The building was on top of a sewer system causing dirty air to be pushed up in to rooms overcrowded with patients (Cohen, 1984). Nightingale began to classify these different deaths. Each death was classified as due to a contagious illness (a disease), a wound or injury from war, or from other causes (things that fit in neither of these categories) (Franklin, 2012). The Calculations After collecting and analyzing this data, Nightingale had to represent it in a way that policy makers would understand (Tunstall, 2016). Most of these individuals did not have a background in statistics or understand how to make sense of the data collected (Tunstall, 2016). Nightingale proceeded to use various visual representation of her data as well as her numbers to prove the need for reform (Cohen, 1984). • 9. Food Digestion Research Paper Digestion begins when one sees food. Upon seeing food the brain sends signals for the salivary glands to release saliva. When food is first placed into the mouth by taking a bite it is masticated and broken down to increase the surface area so that food can be digested faster, as well as allowing it to be swallowed. While being masticated food is moistened with saliva, which contains Amylase, which begins the process of breaking down carbohydrates. Once thoroughly chewed saliva forms the food into a clump, which is called a bolus. Once food is chewed and formed into a bolus the tongue pushes the food to the back of the mouthinto the throat so that it can be swallowed. Swallowing occurs by reflexes opening and closing the epiglottis, which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The bile that is released is produced by the liver, which then fills the bile duct before overflowing and then being stored in the gallbladder, which then allows it into the duodenum through a duct. In between meals the gallbladder absorbs water and electrolytes from the bile. The bile that is released is used to emulsify fats, which is to make the fats separate into small droplets. This allows them to be mixed with water and then acted upon by enzymes to further help their digestion. It is easier for the lipids to be broken down once they are emulsified because they are smaller and the lipase can attack it more completely. Bile itself is a green colored fluid that is made of minerals, cholesterol, neutral fats, phospholipids, bile acids also called bile salts, and bile pigments. Bilirubin is what gives the color to the bile, and it is produced from the decomposition of hemoglobin as previously stated. Bile acids are steroids that are formed from cholesterol. Both bile acid and lecithin, which is a phospholipid, help digest and absorb fats. Anything else that is in bile is waste that will be excreted. In the end however around eighty percent of the bile acids are reabsorbed in the ileum, which is the last section of the small intestine, and they are returned to the liver where they are absorbed and re secreted by hepatocytes. It is commonly done during dedication and initiation rites. The Five Fold Kiss ritual involves kissing five parts of the body and performed within a circle, each kiss given is accompanied by a blessing. Blessed Be is used to grant the blessings of the deity onto a person in a sacred way, asking the powers that be to invoke a person in countless religions. In the case of the loss of the First World War, once the armistice was signed, Germany needed to return their forces home from the Eastern and Western fronts. No formal plan took place, but a speedy operation ensued to try and avoid disgruntled and agitated soldiers. Some historians such as Detlev Peukert and Richard Bessel would agree in the successfulness of the act of demobilising the German troops, commenting that, The first phase of demobilization went through astonishingly smoothly. However, a glance at home and the private sphere shows that demobilisation was a far more contested process. As Maureen Healy would argue, civilizing the soldier was not as simple ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because of the German defeat, plans for a gradual demobilisation, as drawn up in 1916, were forgotten about. The terms of the armistice treaty stated all German troops must be returned home within 31 days, which was accepted and a speedy demobilisation was further encouraged with the soldiers determination to be home for Christmas; ...the troops could think of only one thing : we want to be at home for Christmas. Because of this urging desire to get home as quickly as possible, many soldiers decidedly made their own journeys home, which was found to be not as chaotic as expected, but actually made the process of demobilisation easier, as Bessel insinuates, Rather than make more difficult the task of getting the soldiers back home, it may have done just the opposite. Therefore, with the means of demobilising the troops being simplified in such a way, and quickly acted upon, the course of returning the soldiers home was surprisingly successful, especially after considering the demoralised and hurried nature of the process. However, this is not all that should be considered when contemplating the demobilisation of the German soldiers. Though their town had been destroyed, the community united in the midst of it all to rebuild their homes (Driscoll). In John Steinbecks The Grapes of Wrath, the migrant workers faced opposition from Californian residents. Like the people in Pilger, Nebraska, the migrant workers worked together to help one another out. In The Grapes of Wrath, Steinbeck focuses on the central idea that when society is against a group of people, the people band together to help one another out. To accomplish this, Steinbeck uses excellent characterization to show how each of his unique characters united with others when faced with oppression. Biography ... • 32. Managing Crude Oil Using Derivatives MANAGING CRUDE OIL USING DERIVATIVES The present price markers for crude oil are WTI, Brent and Dubai/Oman. The crude oil derivatives contracts are traded on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX). The exchange acts as a regulatory body and as a financial trading forum for all the parties interested in buying the options. Members of the exchange carry out the trades themselves, or they act on behalf of the firms they represent through an open outcry auction held in the trading room or the floor. The procedure begins when a buyer calls an authorized commodity broker with an order to buy or sell futures or options contract. This order is sent to the firm s agent who is on the trading floor. If the price of oil is tripled in a year then the company is able to purchase oil at the last years locked in price, which is lower than the current price, which in turn helps the company to save a lot of money (Grabianowski, 2009). But, if the price of oil falls then the company ends up paying more and loses money. There are different types of financial instruments available for companies and investors to hedge against crude oil price volatility. These instruments can be traded financially without the tangible physical delivery of crude oil and different instruments have different time periods. Some of the hedging tools are Options, Futures and Swaps. But for this paper we will only focus on option contracts for management of risk in crude oil trading. OPTIONS The modern day financial options market came into existence in 1973. It was known as the Chicago Board Options Exchange. During the same year, Fisher Black and Myron Scholes invented a formula to calculate the price of an option using specific variables. This formula was later called the Black Scholes Pricing Model and it had a huge impact on investors as they became confident about the idea of trading options. As of today there are thousands of option instruments (stocks, bonds and currency) listed in the market and millions of them are traded every day. Options offer extra flexibility to buyers for managing currency or price risk as they work like an insurance policy. Call option and Put option ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Psalm 23 Exegesis Analysis Psalm 23 Exegesis Psalm 23 is a realistic hopeful passage written by David about the presence of trials in his life versus the provision and relationship the Lord has for him. This Psalm is filled with metaphors and creative imagery that is best understood through contextual knowledge. Much of David s writing in this passage is about his struggles and trials, while the rest is essentially about the faithfulness of God. Psalm 23:1 says The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. . According to Schmoop.com, the word want means lack , meaning that David is saying he will not lack anything because the Lord is His shepherd ( The Lord is My Shepherd ). David says in Psalm 23:2 that the Lord makes him lie down in green pastures . However, in Israel there are no green pastures, in the more commonly associated definition. There are no pastures that are actually green in Israel therefore it is only an allusion to the metaphor of the Lord being David s shepherd. A shepherd will lead his flock of sheep to grassy pastures to eat. This reaffirms David s statement that he will not lack. Him referring to God as his shepherd and saying that he will make him to lay down in green pastures means that the Lord will have him lie down (rest) in places of provision /sustenance similar to a shepherd leading his sheep to sleep in a rich pasture (Know, That the World May, Green Pastures. ). David also says that God will lead him by still waters : another metaphor of rest. In Psalm 23:3, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction When the Europeans switched from tobacco to sugar cultivation, the plantation needed more lands and more labour. The labour present came from the Tainos, whose population decreased from abuse, and could not meet the labour demands. The Europeans brought free labourers from Europe, but they could not be forced to work under the conditions demanded by the encomenderos. The church suggested the use of enslaving Africans to replace the fast dying Taino population. The Africans faced tremendous abuse. They were captured in tribal wars or raids on villages. Slaves also rebelled, by commit suicide and taking over ships, killing the crew members and order those they spared to sail the ship back and escaped to freedom. The death rates among slaves during the middle passage were extremely high. After crossing the Atlantic, the slaves were in terrible conditions, both physically and mentally. They were hardly in any condition to be sold. Before being offered for sale, they were cleaned up and inspected. Prices were set with the agreement of buyers then sold in the process of scrambling. As children, we went to school together and grew up learning the importance of family values, particularly the meaning of sticking together. Every day we walked to school together. Before we ventured off to elementary school, our mother would say, Sticktogether, and Jean, listen to your big brother! Even though I was only two years older than Jean, I knew I was responsible if anything bad were to happen to him under my watch. My brother and I were quite daring as children and did not always follow all the rules. Also, Jean was more stubborn than I and did not know when the time for play should stop. I will never forget that one frightful day when the lesson about the value of my family and sticking together changed my life. It was a warm day towards the end of the school year, and everyone was anxious to start summer vacation. Throughout the day at the elementary school, I would see Jean about two times a day. Close to the end of the day, and the sunlight beaming into my fifth grade classroom felt like a hundred degrees. Before we could leave, our teacher Ms. Harris wanted to give us a short vocabulary quiz. When she started to pass out the quiz, I was thinking of ways to get out of the assignment. Genetic Discrimination is no longer allowed because both federal and state laws have been made against allowing employers and insurance agents to discriminate you based on a genetic disease you may have. These laws are part of the GINA Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act. There are two titles within GINA, Title One prohibits Genetic Discrimination in Health Insurance and Title Two prohibits Genetic Discrimination in Employment. Others may argue that genetic testing is unreliable and does not work to detect genetic diseases in all parts of the body. Among the variety of genetic tests, some yield high rates of false positive and false negative results, while others are characterized by findings that are precise but of uncertain clinical or predictive value (1998, Hastings Center Report, 15 21). Enthroned Madrandonna And Child With Saints Summary Piero della Francesca s art has always been intriguing to the eyes of the lookers, analysers, every art pieces containing lots of symbolism and meanings. The Altarpiece Madonna and child with Saints adored by Frederico da Montefeltro was one of the work. Piero della Francesca was born in 1412 and was involved in the Early Renaissance movement. His style involved the use of humanism, geometric forms and use of perspective to create art. From what I saw in the piece Enthroned Madonnaand Child with Saints, the first thing I saw was a group of people surrounding a woman with a baby. The atmosphere of the piece seems to be solemn and grief even though the painting was painted in bright colours. It was the facial expressions of the people that depict that it may not be a joyous event. The knight was at the forefront of the painting and almost seems to be bigger than anyone else, it may suggest that he s important in the piece. Piero also used linear perspective in the altarpiece, creating a sense of depth and the vanishing point at around Marys eyes. With the use of geometry, Piero managed to create the background architecture with such clarity which a lot of artists at that time couldn t achieve. Into further observation, instead of thinking that the baby was bleeding, he was wearing a red necklace. The red colour can be represented as blood pouring out of the baby, a symbol of life and death. From the way the baby was positioned, it may be assumed that the baby is either ...
