Perception And Perception Of Perception Essay
Perception serves more than one purpose to the human experience. Wikipedia defines Perception as
the organization, identification, and interpretation of sensory information in order to represent and
understand the environment. This definition unfortunately describes only one of the services
perception provides. I would like to offer instead the definition Perceptionis a collection of data
filters, some natural but most created by education and experience, which serve to shape and
enforce limits on sensory and intellectual data that is considered to provide the individual a world
view in which to operate within. Similar definitions yes, but the differences are critical.
In the Wikipedia definition, perception is nothing more than an interpreter of sensory information.
It implies that all sensory information is considered, and considered equally. Additionally it implies
that intellectual data such as words, symbols, and events are not subject to perceptional filters.
These critical omissions remove from view that perception is subjective and subordinate to the
human intellect, a key concept in the road to higher enlightenment which I will discuss in future
posts.
Perception provides to the human experience with:
A world view to determine what sensory and intellectual data to consider and what to discard based
upon (representative, not all inclusive):
Personal Impact
Personal Accountability
Personal Interest
Personal Relevance
Ability to effect

The New Market Prevailing Under Globalization
We see drastic changes in the world: the transition process from an industrial to a postindustrial
economy has restructured everything. Such rearrangement of economic and social power is
influencing society as well as business. The new market prevailing under globalization has changed
the nature of business and the old ways of doing business no longer work. Only a worldwide
corporation can adapt to this powerful socio economic megatrend. Businessmen now exploit every
opportunity to implement business growth strategies in order to increase firms competitiveness in
these rapidly reshaping markets. Implementation of these strategies requires a lot of investments,
and depends upon firms finances, competition and government regulations.... Show more content on

Financial reporting is an important tool that helps to define the position of the company in the
current market. Using this tool properly, management can make effective decisions regarding the
company s objectives and overall strategies. The financial reporting also provides vital information
about the financial health and activities of the company to its stakeholders including its
shareholders, potential investors, consumers, and government regulators. This project will focus on
the evaluation of the financial performance of two merging manufacturing companies, Dent Y Inc.
and Sir X Inc., which work in the dental equipment market. Both companies are international and
operate globally. They manufacture and sell a range of dental equipment and products that help
dental professionals serve patients oral health care, from preventive services to tooth replacement.
Dent Y Inc. and Sir X Inc. are competitors in many segments of the dental market. Currently, the
Boards of Directors of both companies have approved a definite merger agreement. This merger
will create a combined company with the largest sales and service infrastructure in the dental
industry, with 15,000 employees globally. The transaction, which is expected to be completed in
the first quarter of calendar year 2016, is subject to the receipt of regulatory approvals and

Canadian Unity
Being a Canadian is a blessing. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity that garners protection against
low wages, provides a platform propelling diversified learning environments and functions under a
democratic government system operating for the common good. Adopting a pretentious
framework, being able to acknowledge Canadian identity within the following context is the actual
blessing. Canadian identity itself is submerged within an array of events, individuals and time
periods that have significantly contributed to her development and fundamentally, idealization as a
unified nation. Nevertheless, the idea of unity was not a matter of immediate occurrence; the
journey to cultivating a unified nation was plagued by measures accentuating plurality.... Show

The manner, in which these labourers were treated, goes beyond the authentic ideologies of binding
a nation and coincides with those of initiating the doctrine of separation instead. With British
Columbia having agreed to join Confederation under the condition that a railway be built within
ten years, an adequate labour supply was essential to the fulfilment of the obligation. Though the
politicians and electorate were in favour of immigration from the British Isles, Sir John A.
MacDonald approached a new line of thought. The Prime Minister contended upon the use of
Chinese labour to minimize costs for the project, initiating the first paramount of inequality and
exclusion. It is simply a question of alternatives: either you must have this labour or you can t
have the railway. Accordingly, over 17,000 Chinese labourers migrated to Canada between 1881
and 1884 to aid in the development of Canada s newfound project. Having arrived in the hopes of a
well nourished future, a large mass of these labourers encountered an inimical reception within
British Columbia instead. Although the late 1850s period of the Gold Rush had already passed, the
Chinese population was widespread in the region; nonetheless, racism against Chinese individuals
remained expansively eminent. They [Chinese] were favoured over Caucasians in terms of
employment;

Mental Illness In Macbeth
Shakespeare, Browning, and Carol Ann Duffy attempt to display their characters in such ways in
order to address heavy social issues within the times in which they were alive, through various
writing techniques.
It is important that we define the term disturbed in order to answer this question to high quality
standard. An adjective that describes the symptoms of mental illness, and psychosis. All traits of
which the writers characters possess.
Shakespeare evidentially displays Macbeths committing regicide in order to address the
consequences of treason towards the reader. Regicide was considered more than just murder back
in Shakespearian time; it could be compared to killing a God. Shakespeare deservingly uses the

The use of guilt and sin must have been eccentric for Shakespeare, living amongst such a religious
audience, and yet writes so powerfully to which was seen against the words of God. Macbeth s sins
plunge him into a pit of guilt, leading him to an unstable state of mind, contributing to his disturbed
mind set. This slightly contrasts to Carol Ann Duffy s Education for Leisure as the orator doesn
t seem to feel any guilt or sympathy for the sins in which he has committed, unlike Macbeth who
to which changed his attitude., One cried, God bless us! and Amen, the other, as they had seen
me with these hangman s hands. List ning their fear, I could not say Amen, when they did say
God bless us . Methought, I heard a voice cry, Sleep no more! Macbeth does murder sleep . This
quote is spoken to which by Macbeth after he is finished murdering King Duncan, the phrase
Macbeth does murder sleep cunningly refers to how Macbeth will suffer horribly from his
actions by his guilt. The insomnia that Macbeth suffers displays how he is uncomfortable after
making a decision to try and claim his manhood. Robert Browning The laboratory contrasts
immensely to Macbeth, as the orator gets pleasure out of the sins in which he/she has
committed. Furthermore to which goes against the belief of God, Empty church, to pray God
in, for them! I am here so to which, his sins have no meaning, which means there is no barrier
blocking him from gaining his pleasure from his doings. However it does slightly link in with
another one of Robert Browning s pieces Porphyria s lover , it is clearly evident that the orator
has no sympathy what so ever for his victim, which he strangles to death, seen as one of the most
painful ways to die, but in order to cover his sins he try s to persuade himself that it was a happy

The Nine Doctrines of War Essay
Surprise The nine doctrines of war are intertwined and dependent on each other. The doctrines
used in war are relative to the situation, which is always in flux. They must be used at the most
precise time that is right for the situation. Each doctrine of war is vital, but one can never stand
on its own. Speed and deception are often employed to further insure the desired effects. People
use some form of deception every day. Whether they are playing some type of game, trying to
win the love of their life, or trying to win big bucks, deception is everywhere. Surprise is
important in developing the course of a battle, having a successful business or sports team, and
winning political campaigns, but it is ineffective if it is not backed by... Show more content on

Surprise is key in sports because teams need deception to trick the other team. If sports teams
apply deception as well as other doctrines of war they will most likely win. Furthermore, security
is important in obtaining surprise. Operation Mincemeat was successful in getting Hitler to split
his forces. To set up the deception, the British needed the body of a man who appeared to have
died by drowning. They found a man who had died of pneumonia in London. The British created
a false identity for the body as a major in the army. The dead man s wrist was handcuffed to a
briefcase containing British coded documents pertaining to the upcoming invasion of Sardinia
and Crete. The body was dumped overboard near the coast of Spain and Portugal and was
washed up on shore. Churchill knew the Germans had the British code, and messages were sent
to indicate the Allies plan was to attack Crete and Sardinia instead of Sicily. Hitler left soldiers in
Sicily, but he split his forces and sent some to Crete and Sardinia. The Allied plan to attack Sicily
did not go as well as hoped. The night the British and Americans spearheaded the attack the wind
was blowing forty mph. The Americans landed fifty five miles from their target and many
drowned. When the ground invasion came ashore between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m., it was still
dark, and the Allies could not quite see where they were coming ashore They had hoped the
Germans and Italians would all be gone. As should have been

Shawn White
SummaryThe Summary of my paper, Shaun White, is: 1. My findings were that Shaun was only
13 when he became a pro snowboarder, he also became a pro skateboarder in 2003, and that he is
trying to become more marketable by extending his demographics. 2. My opinions are that he
has great ambition for the sport and is going to be great on and off the hill, he snowboards with
such grace, and that by winning the gold in the Olympics hw will be more marketable. 3. My
conclusions are FindingsShaun White was born on September 3, 1986 in San Diego California.

(Street Smith s Sports Business Journal, pg. 32) Shaun s sponsorships and winning this year are
estimated to exceed three million dollars. His sponsorships include; Burton which he has been
with for twelve years, Volcom for five years, Oakley for five years, Birdhouse for four years,
Adio for two years, Mt. Dew for three years, Playstation for five years, and Target for four years.
White s next steps will be working with brands that will put him with a much wider audience.
One of the most important deals he is working on is an agreement to create a signature
snowboarding video game with Ubisoft. This will give White a chance to reach beyond his core
demographics. Shaun has the ability to bring his name and stamp and signature and take
snowboarding gaming to the next level, Sawabini said. (Streets Smiths Sports Business journal,
pg.33) Whites work off the slopes may be the leading factor that extends his demographics.
OpinionIn my opinion I think that White is an outstanding athlete and extremely talented. He has
great ambition and love for the sport, which gives him the urge to do better every time his board
hit s the snow. I think we are going to continue to see white on top for years to come. He
snowboards for himself not his parents or his sponsors, which adds to his grace on the hill. He
snowboards with such grace and ease which makes him a great athlete to watch. There are many

Genetic algorithm is a searching approach [8] that is based on natural genetic mechanism and
natural reduction. Using the strategy of survival of the ttest in the nature, the algorithm uses
random genetic operators to generate several new solutions, eliminates the poorer, and keeps the
better and promising ones. The information of the ttest solutions is constantly utilized to search for

Holden Uses Defense Mechanisms
Consequently, Holden uses defense mechanisms, as a means of preventing anxiety that would
result from conscious awareness of disturbing impulses, wishes, or ideas arising from the id,
(Nevid 471). Nevid explains that according to Freudian theory, defense mechanisms reside in the
unconscious part of the human brain because if people were conscious of every single problem,
people wouldn t be able to function. Therefore, Holden is subconsciously utilizing defense
mechanisms in order to shield himself from confronting his problems. One major defense
mechanism present in Holden s behavior is denial. Holden s resides in an ivory tower, reluctant to
accept that he s actually hurt. For example, Holden encounters an elevator man named Maurice...

Although defense mechanisms can help put off a certain problem for some time, relying on
defense mechanisms is not always beneficial because it gives people reasons to act irrationally.
This clarification of Freud s theory is strongly portrayed in Holden s exaggerated view of reality.
His denial triggers delusional fantasies in Holden s mind that he doesn t seem to think deeply
about. For example, when one rash thought entered into Holden s mind, he delivers an
ultimatum to Sally, saying, ...Tomorrow morning we could drive up to Massachusetts and
Vermont...We ll stay in cabin camps until the dough runs out. Then, when the dough runs out, I
could get a job somewhere, and we could live somewhere with a brook and all and, later on, we
could get married or something, (Salinger 132). At the age of sixteen, as if it s not unrealistic
enough, he tries to persuade Sally. When Sally gives him a reality check, he practically rages at
her. Holden is so blinded by the fantasy world he created for himself and his defense mechanisms
were giving Holden an excuse to acting abnormally. As a result, he blames Sally for the
unreasonable idea he proposed, calling her a royal pain in the ass, (133). This irrational behavior of
Holden is exactly what Freud is illustrating in his theory of personality that depending on defense
mechanisms for relieving stressful

Granville Hicks notes how war leaves soldiers disillusioned and, The terrible destruction of
Dresden is... an example of the way the military mind operates (Hicks 602 603). Pilgrim sees the
trivialities of war, while exhibiting disdain for other aspects in life; this demonstrates the effect war
had on him. In Novels for Students, Kurt VonnegutJr. speaks about how the bombing of Dresden
made the terrain look like the moon, Pilgrim noticed that Nobody talked much as the expedition
crossed the moon. There was nothing appropriate to say. One thing was clear: Absolutely
everybody in the city was supposed to be dead, regardless of what they were, and that anybody
that moved in it represented a flaw in the design (Vonnegut 260). The soldiers, left speechless at
the carnage, Pilgrim states that We had been foolish virgins in the war, right at the end of
childhood... you ll be played in the movies by Frank Sinatra and John Wayne or some of those
other glamorous, war loving, dirty old men. And war will look just wonderful, so we ll have a lot
more of them (Vonnegut 18). War lost all glamourous appeals; the monotonous task of fighting in
the military wore on Billy Pilgrim and made him question his participation in the war. The
alienating experience of war separates soldiers from everyday people; civilians never see the
horrors of war, they never see the casualties and deaths, they never suffer from the traumas of war.

Protein Synthesis Lab Report
Scientists found out that the formation of proteins (polypeptide chains) are dictated by the
expression of DNA. The DNA dictates the types of proteins that will be formed by making the
sequence of nitrogen containing bases. Each three base sequence has an equivalent code for the
amino acid that will make up the formation of protein(polypeptide). For example; the sequence of
the three bases CCA is a code for using the amino acidProline (Pro), CTT is for the amino acid
Leucine (Leu), TCT is the code for the amino acid Serine (Ser), and so on. After coding, each of
these amino acids will be used to form long chains of amino acids called polypeptide chain.
These chains will make up the proteins. The synthesis of protein is a very complex process. The
two major steps in protein synthesis are (I) Transcription and (II) Translation. These are the process
in the synthesis of protein from the information expressed by genes. The figure below illustrates the
synthesis of proteins in a cell.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Transcription. In this process, the information from the DNA sequence is copied to a
complementary RNA sequence. The type of RNA that is involved in this process is the
messenger RNA (mRNA). During a transcription process, when a sequence of DNA is
expressed, one of the two DNA strands is copied into the mRNA based on the base pairing rules.
For example, in base pairing in DNA, Adenine (A) is paired with Thymine (T), and Cytosine (C)
is paired with Guanine (G. But when it comes to base pairing rules in RNA, Adenine (A) is paired
with Uracil (U) instead of Thymine (T), and Cytosine(C) is paired with Guanine (G). Figure __

crowdfunding into perspective of entrepreneurial finance and thereby describes factors affecting
entrepreneurial preferences for crowdfunding as source of finance. Thereafter, we elaborate
different business models used to raise money from the crowd, in particular with respect to the

Charles Dickens Mood Of A Christmas Carol
Charles Dickens was the most famous author of the 19th century. His most well known work, A
Christmas Carol has been adapted many times in the last 150 years. Two modern interpretations
include the 1992 The Muppet Christmas Carol and the 2009 A Christmas Carol .
To start off with, Charles Dickens novel does a fine job of setting the tone of the scene because
it displays a dismal, wretched, and ruinous churchyard . This description tells the reader that the
church yard is old and in ruins. Also the novel does a grand job at presenting the tone by saying
in a desperate tone I am not the man I was. This shows the reader that Scrooge wants to change.
Overall the novel does a good job at showing the change in Scrooge.

South Asian And Indian Societies
Long distance trades played a major role in economic, cultural and religious exchanges that took
place between major civilizations in Europe, Africa and Asia during the pre modern period.
Chinese, West Asian and Indian societies were the first ones to develop major transportation
networks. A few examples of such important trade routes are The Silk Route, The Trans Saharan
Caravan Trade in Africa and the maritime Spice Route. The Silk Road is the most famous trade
network in the world and its complex links across Eurasia is considered the first example of
globalization. The network exchanged not only commercial goods but also elements of
civilization such as art, religion, philosophy, technology and science therefore it was considered
a cultural bridge between Asia and Europe. The Silk Road (130 BCE to 1453 CE) consisted of
links of trade routes of about 7000 kilometers, established during the Han Dynasty of China and it
is considered the major economic achievement of this Dynasty. The Han empire was constantly
being threatened by the nomad tribe Xiongnu from the North and at the time of emperor Wudi, it

The Coin Is A Man With No Political Experience Whatsoever
During this election cycle, America witnessed a plethora of pantsuits. Ranging from teal to lilac,
speech after speech, debate after debate, Hillary Clinton the Democratic Presidential Candidate
painted a picture of professionalism and composure in her pantsuit. After the primaries, her poise
only seemed to double, not of her own accord, but because of her opponent s (intentional or
unintentional, who knows) attitude and mannerisms.
In a situation like this, one would think that most American citizens would go through a
relatively easy decision making process: on one side of the metaphorical coin is a woman with
a lifetime of service and political expertise. On the other side of the coin is a man with no
political experience whatsoever, whose entire platform revolves around a mantra of sorts, Make
America Great Again, without any true substance or concrete policy proposals. For lack of a
better description, this election cycle seemed almost like a formality; the path to victory for
Hillary Clinton was basically paved in gold. In a way, it almost seemed like a mockery of the
system.
Everything was fun and games, that is, until the American people through the Electoral College
managed to pick the less qualified candidate, Donald Trump. As such, the question arises: how
exactly did Hillary Clinton, being one of the most qualified candidates to ever run for president,
lose the election? Was hatred of Hillary Clinton the true reason she lost the election? Or rather, was

Dillon vs Champion Dogbra Essay
Assignment #5 Dillon v. Champion Jogbra Business Employment Law (HRIS) Dr. Jean Gordon,
Instructor 1. What were the legal issues in this case? The legal issues in this case stem from a
lawsuit filed by former Champion Jogbra employee, Linda Dillon. She accused her former
employer of wrongful termination. She believed the company breached the implied contract and
terminated her services without abiding by its progressive discipline policy as outlined in the
company handbook. But, according to Walsh (2010, p. 589), the first page of the manual states; the
policies and procedures contained in this manual constitute guidelines only. They do not constitute

She would maintain the same pay and benefits, and she had until the end of December 1998 to
find a new position or face termination. Dillon did apply for a new position that would become
open in a month, but was not selected for that position. Dillon left Champion Jogbra when her
temporary position expired. Promissory estoppel is a term used in contract law that applies
where, although there may not otherwise be an enforceable contract, because one party has
relied on the promise of the other, it would be unfair not to enforce the agreement.
(USLegal.com, 2012) Champion s counter argument was that Dillon was an at will employee,
and based on policy outlined in the employee handbook, could be terminated at any given time. 2.
Explain what the implied contract was in this case. An implied contract is a promise made
between two or more parties. Upon accepting a job at the end of an interview, the hiring party is
likely to shake the new hire s hand. This is an implied contract. (Doverspike, 2012) The implied
contract in this case occurred when Dillon interviewed for the new position. At first, she was told
by the Human Resource manager that her extensive training would include time with her
predecessor. In addition, the vice president, her immediate supervisor, reassured her that her
predecessor would be brought

Literature Review On Biological Neural Network
Chapter 2: Literature Review In this chapter, we discuss a brief introduction of neural network and
biometrics . Traditionally, the term neural network had been used to refer to a network or circuit
of biological neurons. Neural networks are inspired by our brains. The modern usage of the term
often refers to artificial neural networks, which are composed of artificial neurons or nodes. Thus,
the term has two distinct usages:
2.1 Biological Neural Network generally, a biological neural network is consists of a set or sets of
chemically linked or functionally linked neurons. The human brain owns about 1014 synapses and
1011 neurons. A neuronconsisting of a soma (cell body),dendrites (receive signal) and axons (send

The hemp plant and marijuana has been around for a long time and has had a variety of purposes.
What is marijuana and how is it consumed?
Marijuana is a greenish gray mixture of the dried, shredded leaves, stems, seeds, and flowers of
Cannabis sativa the hemp plant. (Drugabuse.gov, 2012). It is a naturally occurring plant. It can be
consumed by smoking it, eating it or brewing the leaves into a tea (Drugabuse.gov, 2012). The
preferred method of ingestion is by smoking. Once it is inhaled into the lungs it enters the blood
stream and moves quickly throughout the body eventually making it to the brain.
What physical and mental effects does marijuana have on a person?
Smoking or ingesting marijuana creates a euphoric effect for the user. The effects can range from
being in a mellow or calm mood to sleepiness. Users also exhibit an inability or lack of desire to
use critical thought processes and show little or no motivation to complete normal activities of
daily living. The active ingredient in marijuana that causes these effects is THC or Delta 9
tetrahydrocannabinol (Drugabuse.gov, 2012, July). According to the National Institute on Drug
Abuse, THC binds to specific sites called cannabinoid receptors (CBRs) located on the surface of
[the brain] nerve cells. These receptors are found in high density in areas of the brain that influence

Notes On The Day Of The National Anthem

main concepts you must try and work in to your life. For the first degree, black belt one of those
is determination. I believe that this is important for the first level because it help teach us to not
give up and to continue to train no matter what. 2 It is the mark of an educated mind to be able
to entertain a thought without accepting it This quote make me think about how important
critical thinking skills are. If we blindly trust everything we here or whatever we think without
truly analyzing what we are about to say. It is because we fail to analyze our thoughts that we
end up with so much false in for nation. Currently I see this as a big problem without modern
society as most people will just believe everything that we here on the news. Once we are
educated thou we CNS better weed out truth from fiction. 3 Should we stand to the national
anthem at sporting events and why? I think that it is truly your own opinion and that it also
depends on why you chose to sit. I don t think it is that important to stand for the anthem. I
personally don t see what the big deal with our obsession with our country is. Most Americans are
overly patriotic if you ask me and we should all lighten up a little bit. We seem to think that our
country is the greatest and that we are somehow better than other countries. Standing for the anthem

First And Second Laws Of Thermodynamics For Living Systems
1.Explain the consequences of the first and second laws of thermodynamics for living systems. The
first law of thermodynamics states that all energy is constant, which as a consequence, or result,
means that energy can never be produced or destroyed but rather it is transformed. During the
process of energybeing transformed some energy is typically lost as heat. Another result of energy
being transformed is the increase of entropy, or disorder. The increase of entropy and loss of energy
is referred to as the second law of thermodynamics.
2.Explain how life is able to adhere to the laws of thermodynamics and accomplish the following
life processes:
a.GrowthLiving organisms are able to grow as long as cells grow which survive by several
inputs, such as nutrients and oxygen. When cells grow it is typically referring to amount, not size.
Cells multiply by mitosis or meiosis, which require energy to occur. The first law of
thermodynamic is applied in which energy from macromolecules, such as enzymes, are transferred
for the cellular processes can take place, and thus the organism increases in growth.
b.Increase in Order An increase in order would occur when coupling a process that increases entropy

many procedures that need to be followed. One of them is a need to sit for Interview or Written

In some states such a Negeri Sembilan and Penang, the person has to undergo chambering for

become syarie lawyer. As compared to pupillage student to be admitted as advocates solicitor,
after undergo 9 month period of chambering they can be admitted as an advocate and solicitor in

A Chinese big real estate investment firm becomes one of the most aggressive property buyers in
California. Their acquisitions prove that Chinese investors are at the top of the list of foreign
investors in the commercial properties in the U.S.
U.S. properties are the most attractive to the fast growing Chinese firms under the condition that
Chinese domestic real estate market is slowing down. The Chinese investors paid $3.9 billion for
the U.S. commercial properties last year, approximately 1% of all American commercial property
sales and more than investors from any foreign country except Canada and Norway.

Quantitative And Qualitative Methodologies
Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted, said
Albert Einstein. His saying goes well with certain methodologies applied for analytical research.
Researchers broadly consider two methodologies for their research, Quantitative and Qualitative
methodologies. Quantitative research is based on the quantity of data, measurement of parameters,
comparative calculations based on the numbers, countable incidences, in short quantitative methods
collect data and analyse through quantified interpretations, where as in qualitative research
preference is given to the real and actualities.
Though both have its merits and demerits, most of the modern research scientists agree that both
are complimentary to each other rather than opposing to each other while the quantitative studies

The percentage of citizens eligible to vote but who nevertheless opt out is a growing concern in
contemporary America; as of the 2008 presidential election only 64 percent of qualified citizens

phenomenon in which citizens with the right to vote choose not to (Carl, 2013). It is common
knowledge that throughout history minority voters are most often the ones who express this
indifference towards votingin comparison to whites (Carl, 2013). Voter apathy often results from

Postmodernism embraces hypertext and hyperplicity, or the rejection of centralized control. It
looses trust in the media and public communication, embracing simulacrum as a hyper reality that
was only long ago based on some sort of truth. Most importantly, Postmodernism rejects the
Modernist idea of high art as normative and dominant. Instead, it merges the concept of low and
high art, effectively canceling them both. Where Modernism saw a work of art as a finished
product, signed by the artist and authenticated by the art market,
Postmodernism sees art as a recycling of culture, authenticated by whatever audience that may be.
Where Modern art is a separate dichotomy of contrasting themes (organic/nonorganic, realist

clearly divided normity versus sexual difference and pornography. Postmodernism embraces
whatever ideas have an audience, and mixes polymorphous sexuality and pornography with
mainstream media. Postmodernist art and media reject the linear way of working, building upon a
specific discourse and ideology. It embraces instead, an anything goes attitude, expanding mediums
and messages into multiple directions. As long as there s an audience somewhere, the work can be
considered legitimate art.

Respiratory Tract Infections (RTIs)
The upper respiratory tract consists of the nose, nasal passages, paranasal sinuses, pharynx and part
of the larynx above the vocal cord (Porth, 2011). Common cold (self limiting but can lead to
secondary bacterial infections), sinusitis, otitis media, croup, epiglottis, influenza and scarlet fever
are the most common complication of URI (VanMeter Hubert, 2014). On the other hand, lower
respiratory tract consists of the trachea and the lungs (bronchi, bronchioles, and alveoli (Porth,
2011). Lower respiratory tract infection includes bronchiolitis (RSVP), pneumonia, severe acute
respiratory syndrome (SARS), tuberculosis, histoplasmosis and anthrax (VanMeter Hubert, 2014).

Practitioners are inclined to prescribe antibiotic when patients clearly requested it (Llor et al., 2014).
Antibiotics are usually prescribed for non specific upper respiratory tract infection to avoid small
risks for getting worst and becoming bacterial infection. Patients with acute respiratory infection
with antibiotic treatment were not at increased risk for severe adverse effect and had a small
decreased risk of hospitalization due to pneumonia (Meropol, Localio, Metlay, 2013). Similarly,
presence of risk factors such as age 65, COPD, diabetes, heart failure, atherosclerotic heart disease,
asthma, smoking, etc. had similar prescription rate of 62% to those patients without risk factors
(Grover, Mookadam, Rutkowski, Cullan, Hill, Patchett Noble, 2012).
Pathophysiology of Common Cold
The common cold is a self limiting upper respiratory tract infection with sign and symptoms of
nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat, sneezing, and cough. It is a viral disease that does not
respond to antibiotic (Zoorob, Sidani, Fremont Kihlberg, 2012). The common culprits that cause the
infections are rhinovirus, adenovirus, parainfluenza virus or coronavirus. This virus is usually
spread through droplets via inhalation, aerosol, and secretion on hand or direct contact with
contaminated object. This infection is highly contagious since it produces a large number of

The Importance Of Property Rights Of Native Americans
In today s society when thinking of Civil rights, or those whose rights have been taken advantage
of, what is the first minority that comes to mind? For me, I have learned about the abuse towards
African Americans and their history as slaves. Most people don t think of Native Americans. Most
people do not relate Native American issues with modern times. Native Americans are at the bottom
of most economic structures and have been since the beginning of time. I chose to demonstrate
how the majority of the Native American tribes are suffering in terms of social, economic and
intellectual standards due to lack of property rights. Native Americans deserve the same rights as
other American citizens. Solutions that help the Native Americans gain property rights can aid in
the issues that are affecting their everyday life. The property rights of Native Americans have been
abused since the beginning of Early colonization. Beginning with Columbus and other early settlers,
the Native Americans were driven from their land and many were enslaved. Europeans used an
International law, the Doctrine of Discovery, to claim the lands of America. Europeans used the
term terra nullius, empty land, to define an area inhabited by people who were not subject to
international law nor belong to a recognized nation. The American Indians did not qualify, so the
settlers made claim to the land (Crepelle 317). When the early settlers came to the Americas, the

Communities Essay
Communitites
When most people talk about community, they think of a location, an area in which people live. By
definition community is a group of people living in the same location and under the same
government. Community can also be defined as a group of people with the same common interests
or segments in society. However, these definitions, which can be found in any dictionary, are only
the tip of the iceberg when it comes to explaining what community really is. Community is the
memories and traditions of a certain area, as well as the interactions and responsibilities of its
members. In order to truly belong to a community people must follow a set of values. These
communal values are needed to provide stability among ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many times it is the responsibility of the community to speak out about problems. Communities are
the only effective power that can limit consumption, pollution, and the degradation of nature
(Ehrenfeld 21). A program such as Neighborhood Watch is a good example of people coming
together on a community level to fix and prevent problems.
Another aspect of good community, which can be seen in farm communities, is the idea of
stewardship and treatment of the land. In the past, the communal system in farm communities was
that everyone relied on each other for survival. Then with the introduction of modern economic
systems, that was drastically changed in some areas. Farmers then relied more on making a profit
and getting the most money out of their land. David Kline represented his ideas that one must be a
steward to the mysteries of god (39). This example of how farm communities have changed
resembles some of the problems facing large rural communities today.
One major problem with communities today is that people frequently move between different
areas where every house looks identical. Such communities are like packaged communities and
lack dynamism. Harry W. Paige would call people living in packaged communities, the rootless
ones, because they lack a sense of place and belonging. Paige also expresses the idea of retirement
communities and how they can never mimic the real feeling of home. Even if they claim to be living

In the museum, there were many interesting and fascinating art pieces. The SFMoma is a large

Essay History of the Scientific Method
Scientific method is the way scientists learn and study the world around them. It is the process by
which scientists work over a period of time to construct an accurate (i.e. reliable, consistent and non
arbitrary) representation of the world. In the study of natural phenomenon, personal and cultural
beliefs strongly influence our interpretations and perceptions. Scientific methodrelies on standard
procedures to minimize these influences when developing a theory.
Scientific method consists of four steps:
(1) Making an observation of a phenomenon.
(2) Formulating a hypotheses to explain the phenomenon.
(3) Proving the hypotheses correct by a series of experiments and tests. If the experiments do not

Almost 2000 years later Galileo challenged Aristotle s s work on mechanics and cosmology. Galileo
did not ridicule Aristotle, but simply showed that he had jumped to the wrong conclusions and
derived at inadequate answers because of his physics being not very mathematical. Errors in
Aristotle s work were rectified through direct observation and by the availability of new instruments
and experimentation techniques in the 17th century. Amongst other contributions, Galileo
contradicted Aristotle s view that bodies naturally returned to their natural place. It is believed that
Galileo demonstrated by throwing different weights from the Leaning Tower of Pisa that the weight
of the bodies was irrelevant to their speed of falling and only the density of the medium counted.
Lavoisier interpreted facts discovered by others and corrected them for errors. He is considered
the father of chemistry although he discovered no new chemical substances apart from a few new
chemical facts. Lavoiser used to carry out a lot of experiments, quantify their results and take
various precautionary measures. He studied Stahl`s theory on combustion and found errors in
reasoning. Stahl had given the concept phlogiston for combustion but Lavoiser proved that no such
thing existed. Lavoisier repeated Boyle`s experiments which had showed an increase in the weight

Cotton From 1850-1860
Factors that influenced the increased production of cotton from 1800s to the 1860s was different
resources, demand, and advanced technology.
To begin with, natural, human, and capital resources played a huge role in the growth of cotton
production. Land was a very essential natural resource to cotton farmers. With fertile land, farmers
could grow their big business, cotton. Also, because of land, the number of cotton farms in
America began to increase greatly. For instance, in Texas, cotton farms grew an astounding
251.6% from 1850 1860. An important human resource that helped increase cotton manufacture
was slaves. Slaves were needed to pick and plant cotton as it was a long and tedious job. From
1800 1860, the amount of slaves increased 342% and by 1860, the slave population amounted to
over 3 million (Davidson, 388). Money and profit was a very imperative capital resource. After
farmers collected their profits, they would buy more slaves, land, and machinery in hopes of
improving their cotton business and growing more cotton (Davidson, 388 389). ... Show more

The growth of the textile industry in Britain boosted the cotton sales in America. Textile industry
was dependent on cotton and 75% of their cotton came from farms in the South(Dattel). The
demand of cloth also affected the demand of cotton. The North needed cotton for their cloth and
textile industry after it grew during the Industrial Revolution(Dattel). The War of 1812 caused
Americans to start creating their own industries and goods after Britain cut off vital goods out of
the United States. In this period of time, there was a huge demand for cotton as American citizens
standard of living grew. Since there was a huge demand, farmers made a large profit. (Davidson,

Cookmaid With Still Life Of Vegetables And Fruit
Fashion is a platform in which one can represent themselves. People are often characterized and
assessed based on what they wear and how they present their body to the world. This notion of
clothing not just being for function but also for expression dates back long before the modern
age. In the early seventeenth century, for example, an artists portrayal of apparel was used as a
symbol of wealth and status. The paintings Cookmaid with Still Life of Vegetables and Fruit
(Figure One), Probably Mary Lady Scudamore (Figure Two), and Dudley, the 3rd Baron North
(Figure Three) all depict people of different prosperity and backgrounds. The three subjects in the
paintings don distinctively different attire. In this essay, I will consider how... Show more content on

The subject of the portrait, Dudley North, is pictured wearing a knee length rich black garment
fully embroidered in silver thread, paired with an extravagant set of shoes. He also dons a white
collar and cufflinks made of lace, paralleling those depicted in the portrait of Lady Scudamore.
The color and materiality of the attire convey the elite status of Dudley. The subject of the
painting was a principle courtier of James I, a role that placed him in the heart of clothing. The
court members developed into models for the noble style of dress, with royalty spending
thousands of pounds annually for their wardrobe. In the modern world, fashion is predominately a
female dominated industry. However, in the early seventeenth century, the dress of men was of
greater importance than that of woman, as aristocratic woman often lived privatized lives whereas
men were more exposed to society. The fit of the male outfit also held a high significance, just as it
did for the female. In the portrait, Dudley s waist is highlighted through the tight tailoring of the
costume, and is enhanced by the belt that clasps his sword. The male representation of fashion was
a symbol of aristocracy in seventeenth century England and was used in portraiture in order to
express one s wealth, as seen through the painting of Dudley

Sir Gawain And The Green Knight
Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, The Wife of Bath s Prologue and Tale present dynamic views
of the art of love in medieval times. In Sir Gawain, the love between Sir Gawain and Lady
Bertilak at first appears to be genuine; however, we learn that both characters were using each
other guided by ulterior motives. Lady Bertilak jabs at Gawain s masculinity in order to achieve
her goal. The Wife of Bath s Prologue questions the meaning of lovewhile the narrator discusses
her own experience to portray the relationship between husband and wife. She also displays
different views of the art of love that contrast with each other; the Tale as well poses the question
of whether love or marriagebetween two people can ever be equal.
In the poem, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, the encounters between Sir Gawain and Lady
Bertilak depict ways in which the art of love can involve trickery. In Sir Gawain s initial
interaction with Lady Bertilak and the old lady, who is later exposed as Morgan le Faye, he
greets them with respect, [he] quickly offers to serve them unswervingly should they say the
word. (SG, ls. 975 76). Here he shows his troth, or loyalty to the women to uphold his chivalric
values, establishing a hierarchy of power. Lady Bertilak and Morgan le Faye, at the top of the
hierarchy, want to exploit Sir Gawain in order to carry out their master plan of humiliating him and
the Arthurian court. When the Lady enters Sir Gawain s bedroom the next morning, she uses her

Persuasive Essay On Homeless
47,725 or about 8% of the homeless population are veterans and 50% of the homeless people are
over 50 years old in the U.S. Homelessness is an unsatisfactory issue that we as humans do not see
the importance of the help they need. In our community, we take things for granted and not worry
about the importance of helping others. The unfortunate people living in the streets have passed
through difficult times and appreciate small or big things. Homeless is a person without a home,
and therefore typically living on the streets. Some homeless people have become abusive of drugs,
alcohol, and other different type of drugs. Homelessnessis a major problem in our society.
Homelessness contaminates our city, makes our city look dirty, and it is priority to fix this
problem. To begin, homelessness contaminates our city and spreads diseases like Hepatitis A, HIV
/AIDS of sexually transmitted infections, virus and Tuberculosis. For example, when the unhoused
go to the public bathroom, sometimes they do not clean themselves or wash their hands. During,
the homeless pass it on to their neighbors or other living creatures and spread or contaminate with
different types of diseases. Homeless contaminate our city by littering on the ground with plastic,
foil, and other types of things that contaminate. Based on what I have seen, one example is when
I go down to the Santa Ana Public Library my mom, sister, and I see that there are various
amounts of trash on the ground. To include, when my family and I pass through the Angels
Stadium in Anaheim I see that there are numerous homeless people that are contaminating our
environment with plenty of diseases. To add, in the short story ВЁWhat do Fish Have to do With
AnythingВЁ by Avi, it states that ВЁhis matted, streaky gray hair hung like a ragged curtain over
his dirty face when describing the homeless man. As a matter of fact, the author states, his shoes
were torn; he had rough hands that lay upon his knees; and his hand was palm up. No one seemed
to pay him any attention and he begs for money. Because he is filthy, most likely he is carrying
bacteria that may cause diseases. In my community, near the riverbed you can tell that the homeless
leave their feces

On The Fabric Of The Human Body Argumentative Essay
In the 16th century, Vesalius decided that he would state his opinion on Galen and his own
research in his book titled On the Fabric of the Human Body . However, his opinion was not
quite what you would expect from someone in and before that time period, his opinion was
negative toward Galen s thoughts and writings . Vesalius did a lot of his own research in order to
produce this book and to teach people what he thought about Galen s work and compared it to the
experiments he had done . This paper will look at Vesalius comments on Galen, why he felt like he
needed to get his opinion out there and how his opinion changed the way everyone else thought.
Vesalius talks about Galen, and how all his followers never questioned Galen s work . He spoke
of how everyone believed Galen was right, even though they could physically see that Galen was
wrong in multiple instances . Galen had even stated that he may be wrong, and that people should
go out and look for themselves, do their own research and experimentation . Nonetheless, no one
listened to that part of Galen, they all focused on that fact that he knew everything and that they

Analysis Of Mud By Maria Irene Fornes
Mud (1983) is one of Maria Irene Fornes s best plays. Like Fefu and her Friends, it is set in the
preindustrial society (Savaran 2012, 56); the incidents take place in a small unnamed rural town in
the 1930s when feminism was not firmly established, and women were struggling to get their
rights. The play revolves around three characters, Mae, the only femalecharacter in the play, and
two male characters, Lloyd, her illiterate foster brother and former boyfriend, and Henry, her
neighbour and new boyfriend. The society in which Mae lives is a patriarchal one where she was
previously dominated by her father and later by Lloyd. In such a society women are considered
subordinate to and of lower rank than men. They are looked upon as... Show more content on

Explaining her relationship with Lloyd to Henry, Mae says: He [Lloyd] has always been here since
he was little. My dad brought him in. He said that Lloyd was kind and that he would keep me
company. He said he was old and tired [...]. My dad was good but he was sad and hopeless and
when my mom died he went to hell with himself. He got sick and died and he left Lloyd here
[...]. I don t know what we are. We are related but I don t know what to call it. We are not brother
and sister. We are like animals who grow up and mate. (Fornes, Mud 1986, 28)
Both Mae and Lloyd suffer from poverty. However, Lloyd is careless; he mindlessly looks after
their pig and farms the land. He is highly dependent on Mae; besides, he is satisfied with his own
status. On the other hand, Mae toils in ironing clothes in order to support herself and Lloyd; she is
the sole breadwinner of the family. Additionally, she prepares food. Mae is unsatisfied with her
own conditions; she yearns to improve herself and her life, and plans to escape from the sexual and
economic exploitation of Lloyd. She is aware that her aspirations can be achieved through
education. Consequently, she attends literacy classes at a school; she as Mala Renganathan
expresses it, dreams of educating herself and making herself literate (2010, 8). Lloyd is entirely
unlike Mae, he is not eager to learn and improve himself;

Essay about Nature’s Influence on the War of 1812
Nature s Influence on the War of 1812
Mother Nature played a part in every event in history, including the War of 1812. The War of
1812 was a conflict between the United States of America and Great Britain that had been
building for many years. By the end of the war however there was no clear victor and the issues
that caused the conflict were never resolved. Nature played a crucial role in the outcome. Because
of humanity s natural strive for power, the living and fighting conditions of the soldiers, and the
geographical layout of the countries involved, nature was a driving force during the War of 1812.
Hunger and greed are a part of human nature as much, if not more than, any other emotion. The

This alliance increased the tension between the British and the Americans.
The Americans had been trying to convert the Indians to farmers so they could take over their
hunting land, and the American public was concerned that if the British supplied the Indians with
weapons it would incite dangerous riots and revolts. To make matters worse for the American the
Indians were being led by Chief Tecumsehwho wished to unite all of the Indians into essentially
one tribe to assist in their fight for land. This would have most likely been successful had his
brother known as The Prophet led the Indians into battle against William Henry Harrison s army at
the Battle of Tippecanoe which led to the massacre of Indians Tecumseh had been away negotiating
at the time and returned to find his work completely undone, so he joined what little forces he had
left with the British. Tecumseh was killed at the Battle of Moraviantown on the Thames River.1
Not only were the Indians involved in the battle between the British and Americans. Also during
this time period it seemed that the French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte could not keep his
influence out of any international business. In 1806 Napoleon forced the neutral trading ships
going through Europe, mainly the American ones, to choose between Britain and France. The
American ships did not appreciate this and responded with a blockade leading to the

The Social Hierarchy Of Pride And Prejudice
Anon
Ms. Markwood
English IV DC 3
4 March 2016
The Social Hierarchy in Pride and Prejudice Lady Catherine will not think the worst of you for
being simply dressed. She likes to have the distinction of rank preserved (Austen 127). Distinction
of social classes has been slowly fading away in today s modern society, but contributed to create a
society dominated by a ironclad hierarchy prior to the twentieth century. Jane Austen published
Pride and Prejudice in 1813, which revolves around the love story between Elizabeth Bennet and
Fitzwilliam Darcy. Both Elizabeth and Darcy have to overcome various issues of the Regency era,
and learn to accept each other towards the end of novel. Jane Austen showcases the nineteenth
century turmoil between the upper class and the working class through the strict social hierarchy
and conflicts between the characters in Pride and Prejudice and ultimately proposes a solution
towards the end of the novel. At first, Austen reveals the tensions between the working class and
the upper class and emphasizes the rigid social structure that existed in nineteenth century London.
The rigidity of the social structure can be attributed to the fact that no class exists for itself but is
bound by reciprocated rights and duties to classes above and below (Kilger 359). Although the
classes are separate and very distinct from each other, they still all depend on one another to thrive
and succeed. However, this was definitely not the case during the

A Cold War
A cold war has broken recently between the government and the Supreme Court in Nepal. One or

constitutional provisions, I agree with those who blame the government for acting imperiously
and for going after Karki to intimidate her and the judiciary as a whole so they would desist from
holding it to account through judicial reviews of its decisions and follow ups. Here are the
provisions of the Constitution of Nepal 2015 relevant to this case: Article 101 (2): 1/4 members of
parliament can move the motion of impeachment against the chief justice or justice of the Supreme
Court if they fail to fulfill his their duties because of serious violation of this Constitution and law,

  • 2. Perception And Perception Of Perception Essay Perception serves more than one purpose to the human experience. Wikipedia defines Perception as the organization, identification, and interpretation of sensory information in order to represent and understand the environment. This definition unfortunately describes only one of the services perception provides. I would like to offer instead the definition Perceptionis a collection of data filters, some natural but most created by education and experience, which serve to shape and enforce limits on sensory and intellectual data that is considered to provide the individual a world view in which to operate within. Similar definitions yes, but the differences are critical. In the Wikipedia definition, perception is nothing more than an interpreter of sensory information. It implies that all sensory information is considered, and considered equally. Additionally it implies that intellectual data such as words, symbols, and events are not subject to perceptional filters. These critical omissions remove from view that perception is subjective and subordinate to the human intellect, a key concept in the road to higher enlightenment which I will discuss in future posts. Perception provides to the human experience with: A world view to determine what sensory and intellectual data to consider and what to discard based upon (representative, not all inclusive): Personal Impact Personal Accountability Personal Interest Personal Relevance Ability to effect Sources ... • 4. Canadian Unity Being a Canadian is a blessing. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity that garners protection against low wages, provides a platform propelling diversified learning environments and functions under a democratic government system operating for the common good. Adopting a pretentious framework, being able to acknowledge Canadian identity within the following context is the actual blessing. Canadian identity itself is submerged within an array of events, individuals and time periods that have significantly contributed to her development and fundamentally, idealization as a unified nation. Nevertheless, the idea of unity was not a matter of immediate occurrence; the journey to cultivating a unified nation was plagued by measures accentuating plurality.... The manner, in which these labourers were treated, goes beyond the authentic ideologies of binding a nation and coincides with those of initiating the doctrine of separation instead. With British Columbia having agreed to join Confederation under the condition that a railway be built within ten years, an adequate labour supply was essential to the fulfilment of the obligation. Though the politicians and electorate were in favour of immigration from the British Isles, Sir John A. MacDonald approached a new line of thought. The Prime Minister contended upon the use of Chinese labour to minimize costs for the project, initiating the first paramount of inequality and exclusion. It is simply a question of alternatives: either you must have this labour or you can t have the railway. Accordingly, over 17,000 Chinese labourers migrated to Canada between 1881 and 1884 to aid in the development of Canada s newfound project. Having arrived in the hopes of a well nourished future, a large mass of these labourers encountered an inimical reception within British Columbia instead. Although the late 1850s period of the Gold Rush had already passed, the Chinese population was widespread in the region; nonetheless, racism against Chinese individuals remained expansively eminent. • 5. Mental Illness In Macbeth Shakespeare, Browning, and Carol Ann Duffy attempt to display their characters in such ways in order to address heavy social issues within the times in which they were alive, through various writing techniques. It is important that we define the term disturbed in order to answer this question to high quality standard. An adjective that describes the symptoms of mental illness, and psychosis. All traits of which the writers characters possess. Shakespeare evidentially displays Macbeths committing regicide in order to address the consequences of treason towards the reader. Regicide was considered more than just murder back in Shakespearian time; it could be compared to killing a God. Shakespeare deservingly uses the three witches in order ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The use of guilt and sin must have been eccentric for Shakespeare, living amongst such a religious audience, and yet writes so powerfully to which was seen against the words of God. Macbeth s sins plunge him into a pit of guilt, leading him to an unstable state of mind, contributing to his disturbed mind set. This slightly contrasts to Carol Ann Duffy s Education for Leisure as the orator doesn t seem to feel any guilt or sympathy for the sins in which he has committed, unlike Macbeth who to which changed his attitude., One cried, God bless us! and Amen, the other, as they had seen me with these hangman s hands. List ning their fear, I could not say Amen, when they did say God bless us . Methought, I heard a voice cry, Sleep no more! Macbeth does murder sleep . This quote is spoken to which by Macbeth after he is finished murdering King Duncan, the phrase Macbeth does murder sleep cunningly refers to how Macbeth will suffer horribly from his actions by his guilt. The insomnia that Macbeth suffers displays how he is uncomfortable after making a decision to try and claim his manhood. Robert Browning The laboratory contrasts immensely to Macbeth, as the orator gets pleasure out of the sins in which he/she has committed. Furthermore to which goes against the belief of God, Empty church, to pray God in, for them! I am here so to which, his sins have no meaning, which means there is no barrier blocking him from gaining his pleasure from his doings. However it does slightly link in with another one of Robert Browning s pieces Porphyria s lover , it is clearly evident that the orator has no sympathy what so ever for his victim, which he strangles to death, seen as one of the most painful ways to die, but in order to cover his sins he try s to persuade himself that it was a happy moment, The smiling rosy ... • 6. The Nine Doctrines of War Essay Surprise The nine doctrines of war are intertwined and dependent on each other. The doctrines used in war are relative to the situation, which is always in flux. They must be used at the most precise time that is right for the situation. Each doctrine of war is vital, but one can never stand on its own. Speed and deception are often employed to further insure the desired effects. People use some form of deception every day. Whether they are playing some type of game, trying to win the love of their life, or trying to win big bucks, deception is everywhere. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Surprise is key in sports because teams need deception to trick the other team. If sports teams apply deception as well as other doctrines of war they will most likely win. Furthermore, security is important in obtaining surprise. Operation Mincemeat was successful in getting Hitler to split his forces. To set up the deception, the British needed the body of a man who appeared to have died by drowning. They found a man who had died of pneumonia in London. The British created a false identity for the body as a major in the army. The dead man s wrist was handcuffed to a briefcase containing British coded documents pertaining to the upcoming invasion of Sardinia and Crete. The body was dumped overboard near the coast of Spain and Portugal and was washed up on shore. Churchill knew the Germans had the British code, and messages were sent to indicate the Allies plan was to attack Crete and Sardinia instead of Sicily. Hitler left soldiers in Sicily, but he split his forces and sent some to Crete and Sardinia. The Allied plan to attack Sicily did not go as well as hoped. The night the British and Americans spearheaded the attack the wind was blowing forty mph. The Americans landed fifty five miles from their target and many drowned. When the ground invasion came ashore between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m., it was still dark, and the Allies could not quite see where they were coming ashore They had hoped the Germans and Italians would all be gone. • 7. Shawn White SummaryThe Summary of my paper, Shaun White, is: 1. My findings were that Shaun was only 13 when he became a pro snowboarder, he also became a pro skateboarder in 2003, and that he is trying to become more marketable by extending his demographics. 2. My opinions are that he has great ambition for the sport and is going to be great on and off the hill, he snowboards with such grace, and that by winning the gold in the Olympics hw will be more marketable. 3. My conclusions are FindingsShaun White was born on September 3, 1986 in San Diego California. White is a fair skinned freckled kid with long red hair, which gave him his nickname the flying tomato. His sponsorships include; Burton which he has been with for twelve years, Volcom for five years, Oakley for five years, Birdhouse for four years, Adio for two years, Mt. Dew for three years, Playstation for five years, and Target for four years. White s next steps will be working with brands that will put him with a much wider audience. One of the most important deals he is working on is an agreement to create a signature snowboarding video game with Ubisoft. This will give White a chance to reach beyond his core demographics. Shaun has the ability to bring his name and stamp and signature and take snowboarding gaming to the next level, Sawabini said. (Streets Smiths Sports Business journal, pg.33) Whites work off the slopes may be the leading factor that extends his demographics. OpinionIn my opinion I think that White is an outstanding athlete and extremely talented. He has great ambition and love for the sport, which gives him the urge to do better every time his board hit s the snow. I think we are going to continue to see white on top for years to come. He snowboards for himself not his parents or his sponsors, which adds to his grace on the hill. He snowboards with such grace and ease which makes him a great athlete to watch. There are many ... The in tegrity and the uncertainty of information in the eld of articial intelligence is described in mathematical tool by it . It is a powerful tool for managing uncertainty that arises from inexact, noisy, or incomplete information. It also shown to be methodologically signicant in the domains of articial intelli gence and cognitive science, especially in respect of the representation of and the reasoning with imprecise knowledge, machine learning, and knowledge discovery [10][11][12]. And we just consider relative minimal reduction in this paper. Genetic algorithm is a searching approach [8] that is based on natural genetic mechanism and natural reduction. Using the strategy of survival of the ttest in the nature, the algorithm uses random genetic operators to generate several new solutions, eliminates the poorer, and keeps the better and promising ones. The information of the ttest solutions is constantly utilized to search for the new unknown area of the searching space. Its show e ective use of historic information that makes every search moving forward according to the best direction, genetic algorithm is similar to simulated annealing algorithm and tabu searching [9]. As a result, genetic algorithm is not only a random searching approach, but also a directing random searching approach. • 9. Holden Uses Defense Mechanisms Consequently, Holden uses defense mechanisms, as a means of preventing anxiety that would result from conscious awareness of disturbing impulses, wishes, or ideas arising from the id, (Nevid 471). Nevid explains that according to Freudian theory, defense mechanisms reside in the unconscious part of the human brain because if people were conscious of every single problem, people wouldn t be able to function. Therefore, Holden is subconsciously utilizing defense mechanisms in order to shield himself from confronting his problems. One major defense mechanism present in Holden s behavior is denial. Holden s resides in an ivory tower, reluctant to accept that he s actually hurt. For example, Holden encounters an elevator man named Maurice... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although defense mechanisms can help put off a certain problem for some time, relying on defense mechanisms is not always beneficial because it gives people reasons to act irrationally. This clarification of Freud s theory is strongly portrayed in Holden s exaggerated view of reality. His denial triggers delusional fantasies in Holden s mind that he doesn t seem to think deeply about. For example, when one rash thought entered into Holden s mind, he delivers an ultimatum to Sally, saying, ...Tomorrow morning we could drive up to Massachusetts and Vermont...We ll stay in cabin camps until the dough runs out. Then, when the dough runs out, I could get a job somewhere, and we could live somewhere with a brook and all and, later on, we could get married or something, (Salinger 132). At the age of sixteen, as if it s not unrealistic enough, he tries to persuade Sally. When Sally gives him a reality check, he practically rages at her. Holden is so blinded by the fantasy world he created for himself and his defense mechanisms were giving Holden an excuse to acting abnormally. As a result, he blames Sally for the unreasonable idea he proposed, calling her a royal pain in the ass, (133). This irrational behavior of Holden is exactly what Freud is illustrating in his theory of personality that depending on defense mechanisms for relieving stressful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Novels for Students, Kurt VonnegutJr. speaks about how the bombing of Dresden made the terrain look like the moon, Pilgrim noticed that Nobody talked much as the expedition crossed the moon. There was nothing appropriate to say. One thing was clear: Absolutely everybody in the city was supposed to be dead, regardless of what they were, and that anybody that moved in it represented a flaw in the design (Vonnegut 260). War lost all glamourous appeals; the monotonous task of fighting in the military wore on Billy Pilgrim and made him question his participation in the war. • 13. Protein Synthesis Lab Report Scientists found out that the formation of proteins (polypeptide chains) are dictated by the expression of DNA. The DNA dictates the types of proteins that will be formed by making the sequence of nitrogen containing bases. Each three base sequence has an equivalent code for the amino acid that will make up the formation of protein(polypeptide). For example; the sequence of the three bases CCA is a code for using the amino acidProline (Pro), CTT is for the amino acid Leucine (Leu), TCT is the code for the amino acid Serine (Ser), and so on. After coding, each of these amino acids will be used to form long chains of amino acids called polypeptide chain. These chains will make up the proteins. The synthesis of protein is a very complex process. The two major steps in protein synthesis are (I) Transcription and (II) Translation. These are the process in the synthesis of protein from the information expressed by genes. The figure below illustrates the synthesis of proteins in a cell.... Ranging from teal to lilac, speech after speech, debate after debate, Hillary Clinton the Democratic Presidential Candidate painted a picture of professionalism and composure in her pantsuit. After the primaries, her poise only seemed to double, not of her own accord, but because of her opponent s (intentional or unintentional, who knows) attitude and mannerisms. In a situation like this, one would think that most American citizens would go through a relatively easy decision making process: on one side of the metaphorical coin is a woman with a lifetime of service and political expertise. Promissory estoppel is a term used in contract law that applies where, although there may not otherwise be an enforceable contract, because one party has relied on the promise of the other, it would be unfair not to enforce the agreement. First And Second Laws Of Thermodynamics For Living Systems 1.Explain the consequences of the first and second laws of thermodynamics for living systems. The first law of thermodynamics states that all energy is constant, which as a consequence, or result, means that energy can never be produced or destroyed but rather it is transformed. During the process of energybeing transformed some energy is typically lost as heat. Another result of energy being transformed is the increase of entropy, or disorder. When cells grow it is typically referring to amount, not size. Cells multiply by mitosis or meiosis, which require energy to occur. Where Modernism saw a work of art as a finished product, signed by the artist and authenticated by the art market, Postmodernism sees art as a recycling of culture, authenticated by whatever audience that may be. For me, I have learned about the abuse towards African Americans and their history as slaves. Most people don t think of Native Americans. Most people do not relate Native American issues with modern times. Native Americans are at the bottom of most economic structures and have been since the beginning of time. I chose to demonstrate how the majority of the Native American tribes are suffering in terms of social, economic and intellectual standards due to lack of property rights. Native Americans deserve the same rights as other American citizens. Solutions that help the Native Americans gain property rights can aid in the issues that are affecting their everyday life. The property rights of Native Americans have been abused since the beginning of Early colonization. Beginning with Columbus and other early settlers, the Native Americans were driven from their land and many were enslaved. Europeans used an International law, the Doctrine of Discovery, to claim the lands of America. Europeans used the term terra nullius, empty land, to define an area inhabited by people who were not subject to international law nor belong to a recognized nation. Many times it is the responsibility of the community to speak out about problems. Communities are the only effective power that can limit consumption, pollution, and the degradation of nature (Ehrenfeld 21). A program such as Neighborhood Watch is a good example of people coming together on a community level to fix and prevent problems. Another aspect of good community, which can be seen in farm communities, is the idea of stewardship and treatment of the land. In the past, the communal system in farm communities was that everyone relied on each other for survival. Then with the introduction of modern economic systems, that was drastically changed in some areas. Farmers then relied more on making a profit and getting the most money out of their land. David Kline represented his ideas that one must be a steward to the mysteries of god (39). This example of how farm communities have changed resembles some of the problems facing large rural communities today. One major problem with communities today is that people frequently move between different areas where every house looks identical. Such communities are like packaged communities and lack dynamism. To begin with, natural, human, and capital resources played a huge role in the growth of cotton production. Land was a very essential natural resource to cotton farmers. With fertile land, farmers could grow their big business, cotton. Also, because of land, the number of cotton farms in America began to increase greatly. For instance, in Texas, cotton farms grew an astounding 251.6% from 1850 1860. An important human resource that helped increase cotton manufacture was slaves. Slaves were needed to pick and plant cotton as it was a long and tedious job. At this point my friend declared that she plus her four children all absolutely hated the kitchen area plus shall love to renovate plus modern it but were utterly daunted by the task and so hadn t attempted it. Among the guests at the party was a builder plus another a professional interior designer plus they both explained that while restoration work (restoring the building to as new condition similar to when the building was originally constructed) was quite extensive plus time consuming with however also a small kitchen makeover designs (modernization) project was relatively cheap. • 51. The Social Hierarchy Of Pride And Prejudice Anon Ms. Markwood English IV DC 3 4 March 2016 The Social Hierarchy in Pride and Prejudice Lady Catherine will not think the worst of you for being simply dressed. She likes to have the distinction of rank preserved (Austen 127). Distinction of social classes has been slowly fading away in today s modern society, but contributed to create a society dominated by a ironclad hierarchy prior to the twentieth century. Jane Austen published Pride and Prejudice in 1813, which revolves around the love story between Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy. Both Elizabeth and Darcy have to overcome various issues of the Regency era, and learn to accept each other towards the end of novel. Jane Austen showcases the nineteenth century turmoil between the upper class and the working class through the strict social hierarchy and conflicts between the characters in Pride and Prejudice and ultimately proposes a solution towards the end of the novel. At first, Austen reveals the tensions between the working class and the upper class and emphasizes the rigid social structure that existed in nineteenth century London. The rigidity of the social structure can be attributed to the fact that no class exists for itself but is bound by reciprocated rights and duties to classes above and below (Kilger 359). Although the classes are separate and very distinct from each other, they still all depend on one another to thrive and succeed. However, this was definitely not the case during the ... • 54. A Cold War A cold war has broken recently between the government and the Supreme Court in Nepal. One or the other side may win this war, but the constitution, the due process of law and the Nepali people will be the ultimate losers in it. It is important to put the case in perspective to cut out the misinformation about it. The government promoted Deputy Inspector General Jaya Bahadur Chand as inspector general of police. His competitor Nawaraj Silwal went to the Supreme Court against the decision. The court quashed the decision, and the government appointed another DIG Prakash Aryal to the post. Silwal knocked the court s door with the second petition, which the court for examination. Angered by this, the ruling coalition directed its members... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similarly, the public is divided. In view of the widespread criticism, the government decided to put the motion on hold, and the Parliament decided to postpone its meetings until after the local elections due on 14 May 2017. But the debate continues unabated. Based purely on the constitutional provisions, I agree with those who blame the government for acting imperiously and for going after Karki to intimidate her and the judiciary as a whole so they would desist from holding it to account through judicial reviews of its decisions and follow ups. Here are the provisions of the Constitution of Nepal 2015 relevant to this case: Article 101 (2): 1/4 members of parliament can move the motion of impeachment against the chief justice or justice of the Supreme Court if they fail to fulfill his their duties because of serious violation of this Constitution and law, incompetence or misconduct or failure and honestly or serious violation of the code of conduct. Section (6): Once the motion is moved, the chief justice or justice of the Supreme Court would not be able to discharge their duties. Article 103 (7) and (8): The legislature has the authority to punish anyone who undermines its privileges. Article 105: The legislature cannot discuss anything sub judice case or anything said or done in the course of giving justice unless it is considering an impeachment motion against ...
