GEBMO or the General Behavior Model was developed by Ludwig Brenner as a way to predict
hazards before they happened. Brenner devised a system of scenarios that could occur with multiple
factors for each element. The system is basically designed on a cause effect relationship. One thing
happens because of another which leads to a result (Haight, 2012). This model was used to develop an
emergency action plan for a small community surrounding a gas station.
The first step to any emergency action plan is to conduct a hazard assessment and the best way
conduct to do that is to conduct a walk through of the facility or area (Haight, 2012). In this scenario,
our facility is a service station with fuel holding tanks and convenience store items which is located in
close proximity to the center of town, a housing development, an elementary school, playground,

review focus on violent crime in the U.S. Many studies in this review discuss how some sociological
variables can influence crime for better or for worse. This literature review will discuss the
relationship between violent crime and the following five themes: race, religion, gender, income, and
immigration.
Race
Violent crime has consistently been a significant issue throughout U.S. history, especially between
racial and ethnic groups. As a country, we ve had to deal with violent crime dating back to slavery in
the 1600 s, up unto today with issues such as police brutality against racial and ethnic minorities.
Researchers have found that segregation between races within neighborhoods can have a heavy
influence on violent crime (Hipp 2007; Krivo, Byron, Calder, Peterson, Browning, Kwon, Lee 2014),
although not all literature had the same results. Three races that were used throughout the research
were Blacks, Whites, and Latinos. Within racially segregated neighborhoods, those with a higher

The right to bear arms? Our second amendment right is something that I feel that most Americans
would go to war over. I never grew up around guns, I have never held a gun, or discharged a gun.
More importantly, I have never used a gun to protect me, my property or my family. This is why I fail
to see the fascination people have with the right to own a gun, especially military grade firearms like
assault rifles. Assault rifles were designed to kill people and have no legitimate civilian purpose.

to own one. Statistically speaking one in every three people in the U.S. own at least one firearm, and
of those 48% own four or more firearms. In the past 40 years the percentage of gun ownership has

and safety.
When having a conversation about gun rights it is clear that it veers towards American standards and
values. It comes back to a very basic question, how big of a role should the government have in our
