The scene in The Fits that I decided to make a close reading of was the scene in which Toni and

The theater was largely attended by children and toddlers. To my surprise, I noticed that there were

On November 17th, 2016, I attended a jazz concert and had quite a time. The experience was
captivating, and gave me a warm feeling inside. There were three different bands that play in the
hour slot, and all of them sounded magnificent, but The SantГ© Fe Jazz Combo and Santa Fe Big
Band stood out the most. The only thing these two bands have in common is that some of the
musicians play in both bands. Otherwise, these jazz fanatics are polar opposites.
When listening to The SantГ© Fe Jazz Combo, you get a mellow feeling that courses through
your body. Their opener Recorda Me, which was my favorite piece, featured solos from Dr.
Hamilton on Piano, Spencer Hoefert on Guitar, Ben Salhanick on Bass, Doc B on Alto Sax, Wyatt
Thomas on Trombone, and Noah Woolard on Drum Set. The song had a moderate swing tempo that
kept your feet tapping up until the solo. First, the brass rang through their part, then the electric
instruments. Next came the bass; he was strumming so fast but he was barely audible. The pianist
busting through with a tricky piano rift and the drummer finished it off with an intense solo. Every

doing even if it s the smallest things, it can lead up to a consequence as shown in literary devices
such as; simile, metaphor, and repetition.
At first, Bradbury uses simile as a way to illustrate a comparison of unlike things reflecting to the
character s actions. Simile is an expression comparing one thing to another using the words, like,
or as. In the short story, Eckels and the company travelled back 60 millions years ago. Travis
warned everyone to not step off the path, and began to talk consistently about the consequences if
you would step off the path. As Travis was talking about the consequences, it was brought up that
if you step on a mouse, and you leave your print, like a Grand Canyon, across Eternity (Bradbury,
22). This shows us that Travis said this, but meant that if you make any changes in the past, even
the smallest ones, it can result into something disastrous in the future. It compares the effects of
stepping on a mouse to that at the Grand Canyon, which shows the resemblance. This is one of the

This article by the National Sleep Foundation describes how adolescents today are not getting
the recommended amount of sleep and in return do not perform appropriately or at their
maximum level at school. Through different scientific studies it was discovered that adolescent
NATURALLY fall asleep at 11 P.M. or later. One study looked at the melatonin secretion in
patients and how it occurred later at night in adolescents. Through research the National Sleep
Foundation has urged schools to synchronize school clock with student body clocks (If teens
naturally fall asleep at 11 P.M. and require 9.5 hours of sleep, school should start approximately at
9:00 10:00 A.M., 1 to 3 hours after current SC school start times). This sources supports my claim
to start school later and provides support research about the negative aspects of sleep deprivation in
adolescents and the importance of reforming school start times

The benefits to elementary students include increased attendance, high academic achievement,
better use of opportunity recognition and problem solving skills, and an exploration in ethical
issues. In middle school, entrepreneurship education is seen to improve academic skills, increase
self esteem, encourage risk taking and learning from failure, learn about opportunity cost, and foster
idea generation. Overall it caused students to enter the adult world with a sense of more self worth,
self awareness, personal responsibility, motivation, communication skills, and creativity. This
