2. Communication
- It is the art of exchanging messages between two or
more people.
Communication Process
- Refers to the exchange of information or a message
between two or more people.
- For communication to succeed, both parties must be
able to exchange information and understand each
other.
- If the flow of information is blocked for some reasons,
then communication fails.
3. The Three Types of Communication
1.Verbal Communication
- Spoken language, voice tone, voice speed and
voice volume
2. Non-Verbal Communication
- Facial expression, touch, body movement, eye
contact and gesture
3. Written Communication
- Communicating through written words.
4. Interpersonal communication
- It is the process by which people exchange information
through verbal and non-verbal messages.
- Often includes face-to-face and online exchange of
messages which may be in a form of a certain tone of
voice, facial expressions, body language and gestures.
- It is important to learn better interpersonal
communication skills because it is the basis of both
personal and professional relationships. Knowing how to
communicate to a wide variety of people can greatly
improve one’s social interaction and career pathways.

7. 1.Conversation
- A conversation is a type of dyadic communication
which is an informal talk between individuals.
- Its nature is less purposive, serious and intimate
than any other type of dyadic communication.
- This is a form of social entertainment.
- A good conversation is characterized by Eson et.al
(1979) as worthwhile, informal, flexible, relaxing
and interesting.
8. 2. Dialogue
- A dialogue is a kind of communication that gives clear
meaning to the two parties involved in spite of some
obstacles.
- Through a dialogue, the most intimate and personal
relationship is formed. The truth itself of the speaker
is entrusted to one another with confidence. This is
an avenue for one to enhance humanness.
- An effective dialogue comes up with a good listening
habit collaborated with an appropriate response.
9. 3. Interview
- An interview is a type of dyadic
communication that requires questions and
answers. Since this is intentional and purposive,
an accomplishment is always expected. Usually,
a person who knows much about a subject is
the one we interview.
14. Activity No. 2:
Directions: Choose five (5) members of your
family and conduct an interview using the topics
given. Prepare at least five (5) questions for the
interview. Take pictures while doing the
interview.

Sample questions:
• Did you have a childhood nickname?
• What was your favorite memory from your
childhood?
• What are the life lessons you learned when you
were a child?
16. 2. Hobbies
Sample questions
• What are your hobbies?
• Can you share an experience about doing
your hobby?
• Does your hobby make you happy? How?
17. 3. Dreams
Sample questions:
• Do you have a dream you want to achieve?
What is it?
• How do you plan to achieve the said dream?
• What will you do after you achieve it?
