Investigating The Substances Of Water Chromatography
Most chemists and many other scientists must routinely separate mixtures and identify their
components. The ability to qualitatively identify the substances found in a sample can be critical. For
example, an environmental chemist investigating samples of polluted ground water will want to know
which toxic ions might be present in a sample. Chromatography is one of the first tools used in such
situations. In this technique, many types of mixtures can be separated into the component pure
substances; by comparison to a standard sample, each component substance can also be tentatively
identified. Many varieties of chromatography exist, each one designed to separate specific types of
mixtures. The common feature of each type of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The movement of the components in the mobile phase is controlled by the significance of their
interactions with the mobile and/or stationary phases. Because of the differences in factors such as the
solubility of certain components in the mobile phase and the strength of their affinities for the
stationary phase, some components will move faster than others, thus facilitating the separation of the
components within that mixture.
The first chromatograph was invented by Russian botanist Mikhail Semenovich Tsvett. Mikhail Tsvet
was born 14 May 1872 in Asti, Italy. His mother was Italian, and his father was a Russian official. His
mother died soon after his birth, and he was raised in Geneva, Switzerland. He received his B.S.
degree from the Department of Physics and Mathematics at the University of Geneva in 1893.
However, he decided to dedicate himself to botany and received his Ph.D. degree in 1896 for his work
on cell physiology. He moved to Saint Petersburg, Russia, in 1896 because his father was recalled
from the Foreign Service. There he started to work at the Biological Laboratory of the Russian
Academy of Sciences. His Geneva degrees were not recognized in Russia, and he had to earn Russian
degrees. In 1897 he became a teacher of botany courses for women. In 1902 he became a laboratory
assistant at the Institute of Plant Physiology of the Warsaw University in

Is Neoliberal Globalization A System Of Smoke And Mirrors...
Neoliberal globalisation has been a system of smoke and mirrors where the basic instability and

In this research paper I am going to discuss the extent to which neoliberal globalisation has been a
system of smoke and mirrors where the basic instability and unsustainability of the whole system has
been covered up by the credit bubble. I will firstly attempt to define what neoliberal globalisation is,
and explain how it has spread globally. I ll then outline examples of the effect this has had on
countries, and how it has led to the growth of unregulated corporations. Next, I ll try to clarify the key
link that exists between neoliberal economies and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Neoliberalism believes strongly in having an up to date free market, It focuses on the principle of
having a free market with nationalised institutions transforming to become private entities, this leads
to most if not all public institutions being sold off to private investors. It also believes in reducing the
helping hand of government by cutting public services and removing social initiatives such as
unemployment and disability payment. Neoliberalism also believes that to create a truly free market,
there must be no regulation of it; this allows the market to generate as much profit as possible.
Individual responsibility is a key aspect of neoliberalism, as it ensures that the government can be
relinquished of its responsibility to provide for the poorest in society, this forces the poorest to pretty
much fight to survive due to no state healthcare, education or social security. Capitalism is one of the
most important aspects of neoliberalism, it allows anyone to achieve their goals if they have the
determination to follow it through.
Neoliberal globalisation is therefore the global expansion of neoliberal economic theory; this has
resulted in the formation of a global economic system which operates with oversight from neoliberal
economic institutions such as the International Monetary Fund and

The Importance Of Greed In Macbeth
Oftentimes, to further their lifestyles, people hide behind a fictitious version of themselves.
Eventually, one finds their mind twisting and turning, detracted and dismembered, unable to bear the
gravity and distress of their conflicting personas. Take, for example, the character Macbeth in the play
Macbeth, who to remand power reveals his true unstable persona while continuing to maintain a
virtuous one to the public which results in a tyrannical dominance of his instability. Because of
Macbeth s actions, Scotland is thrown into chaos when his unstable personality completely dominates
him and leads to his demise at the hands of rebels affected by his greedy and indecent actions. In the
play Macbeth, Shakespeare uses light and darkness imagery to convey how Macbeth s ambition and
greed led to corruption, signifying the negative societal effects tyrants have because of their greed and
ambition. Shakespeare uses light imagery to reveal Macbeth s immoral personality which resulted
from greed. Before Banquo was murdered, Macbeth laments to Lady Macbeth, Light thickens, and the
crow makes wing to the rooky wood: Good things of day begin to droop and drowse, whiles night s
black agents to their preys do rouse (III.ii. l50 53). Macbeth explains that eventually anything good
will fall away and anything made of evil will rise and take control of the world. Shakespeare uses
metaphorical imagery to make Macbeth admit how mentally mutilated he became by his ambition to
remain in power by symbolizing him and Lady Macbeth as night s agents or evil beings and Banquo
as good . Macbeth s immoral behavior indicates the desire and want for power as a sovereign and what
limits he would go to just to ensure his vision, resulting in disfigurement of his kingdom. Furthermore,
when Macbeth is debating whether it is alright for him to murder King Duncan, Macbeth notes, Stars,
hide your fires, /Set not light see my black and deep desires;/ The eye wink at the hand; yet let that be/
which the eye fears, when it is done, to see (I.iv.51 53). Through his words, Macbeth directly admits
that he has an immoral side to him and that he wants it to remain concealed to people while he
portrays his virtuous persona. Shakespeare

The Great Leapfrog Contest and
In the short stories, #8220;The Good Corn #8221; written by H.E. Bates and #8220;The Great
Leapfrog Contest #8221; by William Saroyan techniques such as characters, point of view, setting and
structure work together to explore the issue of personal conflict and establish tension between the
main characters in each story. An examination of these techniques allow a more enhanced reading of
the texts and in turn evoke a particular response from the reader. In the short story #8220;The Good
Corn #8221; there are three main characters which are portrayed in such a way as to allow a tension
and personal conflict to be created but only after the reader is positioned to respond favourably to the
characters initially. Joe Mortimer and his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This conjures images of a peaceful and thriving natural environment with no invasion of manmade
inventions. However, as the personal conflict of Mrs. Mortimer #8217;s sterility is developed the
setting complements her feelings of worthlessness and loneliness as the reader becomes aware that the
farm is in fact isolated and any outside contact with people is welcomed. This is demonstrated through
the passage #8220;Whenever the Mortimer #8217;s caught sight of them [the children on the train]
there was a sudden brightness on their faces. #8221; Similarly, in #8220;The Great Leap Frog Contest
#8221; the setting enhances the portrayal of Rosie as the underdog. The fact that the contest takes
place on a highway that is made out of #8220;dirt and asphalt #8221; conveys an atmosphere of a fast
paced competition and it is painstakingly obvious that Rosie #8217;s gender does not complement this
setting. Hence, she is portrayed as an outsider not only because she is fighting a boy, but also because
of the nature of her surroundings. Both short stories employ third person point of view to enable the
reader to see into the lives of all the characters presented. While this doesn #8217;t allow a more
personalized insight into the main characters mind it does give the authors freedom to explore all of

Research Paper On Airplanes
World War was had been the first major conflict that saw use of the newly invented airplane.
Newspapers filled with stories of daring pilots, valiantly taking down the opposing Luftwaffe. Ace
became a term for a pilot who successfully shot down at least five enemy aircraft; however there were
a special few pilots who far surpassed this and went down in history as the top aces. America s Ace of
Aces was Eddie Rickenbacker who throughout the war won twenty six aerial victories, and earned the
Medal of Honor for taking on seven German planes by himself, downing two (Sherman). Coming in
second was Frank Luke Jr. with 14 enemy balloons and four enemy planes. He was known as the
Arizona Balloon Buster and was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his last victory, when
he shot down three balloons while taking fire from eight planes, then, as he was going down, he
opened fire on German ground troops killing six, and finally, when asked to surrender, he instead ...

time information though telegraph lines made them far more strategically sound throughout the
majority of the war. Their greatest contribution was providing unparalleled artillery spotting, whereas
artillery was the cause of seventy percent of the casualties during the war. The balloon was so valued
strategically that when airplanes had become more developed, their greatest contribution was
attacking and defending the balloons. Balloons were such valued targets that they were greatly
defended by anti aircraft guns and allied planes. As Rickenbacker remarked about how the Balloon
Staff favored Luke, They appreciated the value of balloon observation to the enemy and knew the

T.S. Eliot’s The Waste Land
T.S. Eliot s The Waste Land The Most Influential Work in Modern Literature
T.S. Eliot s The Waste Land is considered by many to be the most influential work in modern
literature. First published in 1922, it captures the feelings and sentiments of modern culture after
World War I. Line thirty of The Waste Land, I will show you fear in a handful of dust, is often viewed
as a symbol of mankind s fear of death and resulting love of life. Eliot s masterpiece with its
revolutionary ideas inspired writers of his era, and it continues to affect writers even today.
In the first two lines of The Waste Land, Eliot says, April is the cruellest month, breeding/Lilacs out of
the dead land (l. 1 2). Eliot shows the connection between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not everyone appreciates life after suffering the death of someone close to him. After the death of
Mary, Ade is forced to leave the mission. A few weeks later, Santigie must also return home after the
death of his father, Chief Bombolai. The Brothers Three, seemingly separated forever, are not
appreciating life more than they did before. Each boy is dead to the others; none of them believe they
will ever see each other again. After several months, however, the Brothers Three are reunited. They
promise to always stay together, and each boy has an optimistic outlook on life again.
Eliot s own pessimism toward life amid the destruction of World War I is evident throughout most of
the poem. He uses many dark images to suggest death and brokenness, but Eliot contrasts those
depictions with pictures of life and energy. In the second stanza of section one, Eliot vividly describes
a desert wasteland. A few lines later in the same stanza, he depicts a young hyacinth girl (l. 37) and a
lush garden full of flowers. These two contrasting images of life and death are mirrored in the final
pages of No Past No Present No Future. Ade and Bodil move Denmark after their engagement. A few
days before the wedding, Bodil receives a letter informing her of Ade s affair with another woman.
Throughout their relationship leading up to this point, Bodil has stuck by Ade s side and been his life
support; without her, things would

Miss Havisham Quotes
Pip experiences mental violence when he meets Estella and Miss Havisham for the first time. They
were both very mean to him. Miss Havisham was mean to him (and other men), because her heart was
broken once. Her fiancé left her on her wedding day, and she was so heartbroken that she was
determined to never move beyond that. Her broken heart made her grow cruel , and bend on revenge
on all men. Her revenge came in the form of her adoptive daughter Estella. She trained Estella to be a
heartbreaker, so that she could get satisfaction from that. This can be noted in one of the first scenes of
the book, when Miss Havisham talks to Estella. With this boy! Why, he is a common labouring boy! I

showed me what I once felt myself, I did not know what I had done. What have I done! What have I
done! (Great expectations,1992 ,p.338)When Pip left, he got a feeling that something was wrong, so
he went back to check on Miss Havisham. She was on fire when he entered the room, shrieking in
panic and in pain. Pip helped her stamp out the fire, and let her go when the surgeon arrived. Miss
Havisham started repeating four sentences What have I done! When she first came, I meant to save her
from misery like mine. and then Take a pencil and write under my name, I forgive her! . (Great

eventually, so her life didn t have a happy ending even though Pip forgave her. Pip finds out that she
died, in a conversation he had with Joe: Is she dead Joe? Why you see, old chap, said Joe, in a tone of
remonstrance, and by way of getting at it by degrees, I wouldn t go so far as to say that, for that s a

Finding Forrester
Finding Forrester: An Analysis
Introduction
Finding Forrester is one of the best movies to come out during its time. It was focused on the story of
boy who is looking for a role model and finding it in the most unexpected place and the most
unexpected person. The movie tells about the journey not just of Jamal Wallace but also of the journey
of William Forrester especially during the last few years of his life. It was a story that presented life in
its beginning and its ending and how the two are intertwined. Wallace s life was just beginning while
Forrester s was ending. Somehow, they bumped into each other and stood side by side during a
particular time wherein the crossroads they both have to face on their own seem to be found in one ...

The movie was dependent on the story line itself and not on visual effects. The story is about an
individual s experience bereft of any sci fi or hard action scenes that did not necessitate the need for
more complex and demanding art direction. Posters and other teasers released for the film often comes
in the warm colors of brown, yellow and something akin to sepia tone which is very warm and
compliments the warmth on the face and character of Sean Connery. The art direction also settled for
easily readable typography. Photography captured the softness in the physical characteristics of
Connery and Brown and transforms it as visual cue for the audience to lead them towards feeling the
unexpected emotional bond that these two men will share in the story.
Acting
As one of Sean Connery s dramatic movies that earned many positive remarks from critics, Finding
Forrester can be judged acting wise as a movie that reflects the emotional acting style of both Connery
and Brown. As usual, Connery brings to the table his father like demeanor that enhanced his acting,
while Brown was effective in playing the student who looks for an idol to look up to, and finding it in
Connery s character in the movie. Connery was effective in acting out the recluse, solitary literary
genius and was able to communicate to the audience through his acting the changes in his emotional
state but not allowing the audience to guess into the future of the

Nadine Gordimer s Once Upon A Time
Stories hold numerous aspects within their words to withdraw many emotions from us. Stories,
although known for their use of entertainment, teach humans about themselves. From birth, fear
becomes one of the primal emotions in the minds of people everywhere. Throughout the entire world,
people fear much of the environment around them, but there are truly five main fears that are the
epitome of all that people fear. These five consist of mutilation, separation, loss of autonomy, ego
death, and extinction. The fear of extinction is one that most humans can relate to, and all will
eventually face for themselves, making it an anxiety for more than half of earth s population. From the
beginning of time, authors have used stories to teach people about themselves, especially aspects of
their emotions. In the short story Once Upon a Time, the author, Nadine Gordimer, uses metaphor to
explicate the terror of extinction in humans and communicate to the audience that death is inevitable.
At the story s unconventional beginning, a seemingly picture perfect family is living in what seems to
be a beautiful house in a rich suburb ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nadine Gordimer s short story Once Upon a Time metaphorically explains to its audience how death
is inevitable and must not be avoided, lest an undesirable chain of events take place. With Gordimer s
gruesome use of the young son dying at the end of her tale, the audience is to understand the horrid
effects that come about when they hide from death. Throughout history, authors have written to
educate people about themselves. Gordimer s teaching about the resistance to death clearly captures
the worldly mindset of humans and their feeling of entitlement to life. No matter how strongly a
person feels that he or she deserve to live, the decision is not theirs and they must succumb to their

Why The Legislative Branch Is The Strongest
Collins 1 Ciara Collins PS 122: American Politics: Issues and Institutions Essay Two 11/5/2014 Which
of the three branches of the federal government (Congress, the Presidency, and the Judiciary) is the
strongest? Why do you think this is the case? The Legislative Branch is one out of the three branches
of the government. All the branches of the federal government play a super important part in
Government. However, the Legislative Branch is the strongest branch. All of the Legislative Branches
privileges and powers are well defined in the U.S Constitution. All of the Legislative Branches rights

Of course there is a balance of powers between the branches and all three branches are fairly equal as
some Americans like to say but Congress has one advantage in particular, power of the purse.
Congress approves budgets. If they don t want to fund a project or law, they don t have to, and it s
dead in the water, that is why I would have to say that Congress has the most active power. They are
the only branch that can make laws after all, amend the Constitution and ultimately has approval over
all decisions affecting the nation as a whole. This seems like a clear reason on why the Legislative is
so strong, it is the fact that they have so much power. Congress is the only one out of all three
branches that is elected by popular vote, which can say a lot for the people. It is supposed to represent
the will of the people. The Executive branch is ultimately responsible to Congress and remember that
Congress can impeach a President, but a President does not have the power to remove a member of
Congress and thus, to the

Research Paper On Job Stress
There are almost three billion people in this world who are employed on different positions in
different organizations of the world. Their working conditions like environment, work load,
interconnectivity with coworkers etc are different but these employees faces one common issue during
their jobs that is Job Stress. Job Stress is perceived as a negative terminology which mostly employees
all around the world tend to avoid. Stress is one of the burning issues that organizations have to deal
so that employees can comfortably produce quality work. Stress causes an imbalance in one s life
because it leads to depression and thus damages health, attitude and work behavior. Causes of stress
are called stressors, which can be workplace conflict, role conflict, role ambiguity and workload. In
my research the main focus is on work load and interconnectivity with coworkers. Stress has been
defined in different ways over the years. Originally, it was conceived as pressure from the
environment, then as strain within the person. The generally accepted definition today is one of the

circumstances the employees tend to be positively affected by the job stress and also understand the

William Berkeley In The 1676 Analysis
In the 1670s, dissent from small farmers and frontiersmen marred the leadership of William Berkeley.
Reasons, such as restrictions on the right to vote, high taxes, low tobacco prices, aristocratic
leadership, and inadequate security against Native American attacks caused the dissent. Nathanial
Bacon, a relative of William Berkeley, relocated from England in 1673 and became part of the
administration in Virginia. Over time, the two disagreed on the issue of Indians (Rice, 2012). It was at
this point that emigrants of English descent were conquering land through force.
Some leaders in the Virginia governorship administration opposed this idea by preferring negotiations.
In 1676, a civil war erupted because of disagreement among the colonists. Nathanial Bacon emerged
as a leader of the people who lived on the frontier to protect them from attacks by Native Americans.
It was evident that Nathanial Bacon was fighting the colonial government by urging poor farmers to
express dissent by fighting the Native Americans and colonial government (Rice, 2012).
Consequently, the victims of the 1676 rebellion included the Pamunkey and the Occoneechee tribes.

Freud s Developmental Stages Essay
Freud held strong beliefs about the roles of sex, procreation and the death drive within human
psychological development and developmental problems.
A brief summary of Freudian developmental stages:
Birth 1 year: Oral Stage.
This stage is concerned with the mouth and how the baby feeds i.e. sucking and is weaned on and
from mothers milk. He called this libido and refers to it as the driving force.
When the baby changes from sucking to biting this indicates the time for weaning and the next stage
which is solid food.
Freud believes that if this is done to abruptly it can cause trauma and inhibit healthy progression.
The individual could suffer from difficulties with food, oral behaviours such as smoking, gossip and
other more aggressive verbal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

This stage is concerned with child s need to do things on their own terms, the conflict arises for them
where they have a need to assert their own will but also crave parental approval, this time can produce
a battle of wills between parent and child.
Age 3 6 years: The phallic stage.
At the core of this stage we see the child begin to learn about other people around them and the roles
they play, as children often learn by mimicking or copying they begin to do that with the same sex role
models according to Freud, although in the modern world this is not so clear cut as there are many
single sex parents and same gender parents raising families, which back then would not have been
accepted.
However, as the child becomes more aware of their genitals they will become increasingly curious
about sexual differences.
This is a very important stage in psychological development. There are some differing accounts about
what the Oedipal complex truly represents but it is clear it is a time of confusion for a

factors in combustion. Combustion is how a engine runs. With that being said a supercharger is a
system that forces more air into the engine to make it faster. With all this going into the engine the car

Abstract
This paper presents a comparison of mechanical properties of 17 4PH stainless steel parts built by
selective laser melting (SLM) additive manufacturing process with the wrought 17 4PH stainless steel
parts. The microstructure is analyzed using optical microscope and the mechanical properties are
evaluated using tensile testing according to ASTM E8 standard. Overall, the SLM fabricated samples
demonstrated superior tensile properties and the microstructure is strongly influenced by the SLM
process. The SLM processed specimens showed higher ductility and ultimate tensile strength than
wrought samples.

Meglinide Research Paper
Class III: Meglitinides
The meglitinides are short acting drugs. They are similar to sulfonylureas in that they augment insulin
secretion or insulin release from pancreatic beta cells. They are only slightly less effective than
sulfonylureas in reducing glycemia. They are not sulfonylureas and can be used in patients allergic to
sulfonylureas. They cause less hypoglycemia as compared to sulfonylureas .They have a similar risk
for weight gain though as the sulfonylureas.
The 2 meglitinides that are available are Repaglinide and Nateglinide.
Pharmacology of the meglitinides: The meglitinides work almost similiarly just as the sulfonylureas
by increasing the release of insulin from the pancreatic beta cells. They act on a different binding site

Corporate Finance Programs
Corporate Finance Programs
Introduction
In a company s operational activities, it is essential induce financial management in its organizational
structure. All business operations center on the use of finances to incur profits that benefit the
company employees, shareholders and their nation s economic society. This context digs into the
conduction of both managerial and corporate finance. The executive finance deals with managerial
implication on financial techniques used alongside pecuniary decisions made by the company besides
other financial tools and analytical procedures through corporate finance. Among the techniques used
are corporate valuation, value based management, corporate governance and EPOS (Employees Stock
Ownership) plans.
Corporate Valuation
This is the evaluation of firm value strategies by forecasting on past financial statements; presenting
values of cash flow stream strategies and choosing value maxima based on the appropriate strategic
plan. A firm s stock is valued through different methods such as through the discounted dividend
model.
Corporate valuation is channeled alongside the corporate valuation model. It is a substitute to stock
valuation. The model points out company s main operational and non operational assets as well as the
total worth of firm value and growth (Ehrhardt and Brigham, 2008, pg 659). It is usually an alternative
to discounted dividend models in determining firm value of companies with no history in dividend and

The Novel Mayflower By Nathaniel Philbrick
In the novel Mayflower, by Nathaniel Philbrick, the author educates us on how the New World was
discovered and created. It all started with a group of roughly 100 men and women who originated
from England known as the Pilgrims. The Pilgrims were sick and tired of the lack of religious freedom
and work/economic opportunities. There was no future for the Pilgrims in England. This was all until
the group set sail on the Mayflower in order to find new land. After a rough journey, they came across
a piece of land now known as New England. The Pilgrims settled here because it was relatively empty.
They believed that in New England they would be able to create a godly city or a place where they
wouldn t be criticized for their religious views. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In reality, if it were not for the Native Americans, the Pilgrims would have been wiped out in a short
period of time. The first relationship dealt with economics. In the Pilgrims first winter, many died
from disease and starvation because they had no idea about how bad the winters are in New England.
They didn t understand how to grow crops successfully until the Native Americans helped them out,
resulting in less death from starvation. Since the Pilgrims were in need of food fast in order to survive,
they would have no choice but to steal corn from the group called the Nausets. The snow made it
difficult to find the corn, but eventually they located 10 catches of it. They educated the Pilgrims
about some of their practices such as how to build warm and protected shelters. But in a short period
of time this ended up hurting the Native Americans. There was a native man by the name of Squanto
who did not mind helping out the Pilgrims at all. Squanto showed the Pilgrims everything he knew
about building crops, fishing, building shelters and basically how to survive. Squanto was a very
talented eel fisherman and he provided eels to the Pilgrims so that they would have something to eat.
That night the Pilgrims at the eels with relish, praising them... He also explained to the Pilgrims that if
you plant fish in the soil next to your crops, the soil will get richer and the plants will grow better.

Cecilia is without any doubt one of the main characters of Atonement written by Ian McEwan. He is
able to show the reader her passionate, pensive and passive state through her behaviour and attitude in
various scenes. Her character is not as deep as Briony s or Robbie s as the reader does not get many
chapters in which one can hear her thoughts and feelings. Nevertheless Cecilia s actions say a lot
about her; how she took of her her clothes to get to vase manifests her stubborness and well. More
over her character is further developed through her interactions with Robbie from the letters she sends
him. The reader feels that Cecilia is idle at the start of the novel. She goes to her home however she is

However Robbie does so out of concern for Polly who was cleainig the floor. Furthermore when the
incident of the vase occurs, she does not acknowledge that it is their attraction which makes them
nervous, so she links it to class difference again. Her undressing near the fountain and plunging in the
fountain suggests that Cecilia views herself as one of the Furies or Erinyes, the merciless Goddesses
of vengeance in Greek and Roman mythology. She thinks that if the drowns, it will be Robbie s
punishment, drowning would be his punishment . This reminds the reader of Cecilia s over
dramatisation. Cecilia s thought about how she cannot smoke in her father s presence and how she
disobeys this rule makes the reader think that she believes that since she went to University and spent
three years amongst the most sophistacated, she is now indipendent. The lector witnesses Cecilia s
preparations in the dressing for dinner. She is unsettled and changes her dress twice before she is
satisfied with her appearance. It seems that she wants to impress someone, maybe Robbie. This idea
commences when Cecilia goes infront of the mirror before going out to fill the vase with water, ...she
wondered about going out to Robbie. It would save her from running upstairs. But she felt
uncomfortable and hot, and would have like to check her appearance in the large gilt mirror above

Greek Wine Case Study
How did the development of the large states and Empires promote wine as a drink of choice?
a.Around 870 BCE, a grand party was thrown to display the wealth of a king, Ashurnasirpal, for a new
capital in Nimrud in the Mesopotamia region. During this time, the king showed off exactly just how
rich the new empire was by making available 10,000 jars of beer, and 10,000 skins of wine, and at that
time wine was 10 times as expensive as beer. Not only was skins imported, but some were made from
his own vines, thus starting the craze of wine in that area.
2.What role did Greek geography play in its economic development and trade?

the holding the higher class of citizen they were.
4.What was Plato s view of democracy? How did Plato s symposium differ from others?
a. Plato believes that too much power is held by ordinary people like a father with his children. Plato
also believed that the wine pourers represent the power of democracy, and they have encouraged
people to drink too much freedom, aka wine. Plato s symposium had the aspects of good and bad
human behaviors, with the good outweighing the bad. For most symposiums it was an outlet of all

Arthropods are the Major Component in Animal Diversity
Introduction Arthropods appeared in early Cambriand and since the burst, the Cambrian radiation, the
species have been the major component of animal diversity in the past of 520 million years
(Edgecombe, 2010). They are probably the most diverse animals on earth, know species reach almost
one and two hundred milion, accounting for over 80% of animal living species (Thanukos, 2008).
Ranging sizes from less than 1mm and more thand 4m, arthropods vary from herbivores and
carnivores, parasitic and free living, social and solitary, being extreme ubiquitous they can be found
everywhere on the planet, to deepest oceans and highest mountains (Wheeler et al, 2004). Arthropods
possesses a wide range of taxonomic and structural diversity, ancient fossil record and a prefered
model system to study morphogenisis, therefore it could awnser many questions regarding
evolutionary biology (Regier Shultz, 1997). To awnser those questions is required a a phylogenetic
framework. Unfortunally evolutionary relationships among the majorority of arthropods groups are
still controversial (Regier Shultz, 1997). One of the problems of phylogenetic reconstruction of
arthropods is the choice of a outgroup (Giribet Ribera, 1997). Acording to Giribet Ribera (1997) an
outgrup must be historically related to the members of the ingroup. Other problem is about polyphyly
and monophyly and relationships in subphyla Chelicerata, Atelocerata and Crustacea (Regier Shultz,
1997). With advancements in

The Economic Crisis Of The G20
The economic crisis has brought about a transformation in international organization, signaling a
break with the established system of foundation for managing world liaison. While at the first of the
crisis, measures taken appeared ad hoc or temporary, the decision at the Pittsburgh Elevation in
September 20 09 to institutionalize the Chemical group of 20 leaders summit reflects a marked shift in
the locus of leadership. New players, new meeting place and new issues have moved to the center of
global decision making. Over the course of its first class, the G20 has delivered in response to global
economic challenges, at least in a declaratory fashion. However, as we move towards a billet crisis
environment, the G20 s follow on year will bring new challenges. In the lead up to the two 2010 top

Several are working upon the use of electromagnetic pulses, specifically the electromagnetic gun (EM
gun, rail gun, coil gun) as a way for new weaponry and advances in science.
The rail gun is a machine, in which it uses electromagnetic wave to send objects far distances without
a use of a fuse. Its makeup is of, usually, two parallel copper rails, connected to a power source, which
must be enormous. Within the rails is a groove carved out to fit in a small projectile, which can be
aluminum, graphite, or copper.[1] The way the gun works is that the power source sends an electric
current up one rail, going through the projectile, and down the second rail. The result is a powerful
magnetic field that causes the projectile to be thrown out of the barrel at high speeds. This
phenomenon has been named Lorentz Force.[2] Due to the design of the rails, the projectile
accelerates as it moves up the barrel. All you physics majors should know the result; that s right higher
velocity and farther distance. It is necessary for rails and the projectile to be conductive, which is why
they are of such materials.
The concept of the rail gun was created long ago, but what gave it spotlight was President Ronald
Reagan s necessity. The Strategic Defense Initiative was a plan initiated by Reagan, said in his speech
in March, 1983, as a

Del Hardy s The Light In The Forest Book
The Light in the Forest book was about an Indian boy, True Son being forced to return to his white

after being an Indian for eleven years in Ohio. With him was a white soldier, Del Hardy that spoke the

he arrived home, his Aunt Kate disliked True Son and his customs. His Uncle Wilse made fun of his
language and his people. Uncle Wilse hated True Son what he was, an Indian and slapped True Son.
True Son got into a lot of conflicts with other whites because of his Indian mindset. Half Arrow, True
Son s cousin found him on white territory. True Son and Half Arrow stole multiple things from True
Son s uncle. Half Arrow and True Son ran away together in the forest. They both stayed in the forest
until they came to their tribe again. True Son met with his Indian father, Cuyloga. The Lenni Lenape

Free Will
The Concept of Free Will Free will is the ability to make your choices in life without having any
consequences. We may feel the existence of free will until we start thinking and then figure out there
really is not. Thus, free will is nothing other than just an illusion. The moment a person is born, they
are confined to a land of law, a set biological makeup, and environmental factors that are beyond their
control. Hence, human beings do not have free will and ultimate responsibilities thus the punishment
for their misdeeds are not justifiable. A human can very well do what he wants, but cannot will what
he wants. Einstein. We, people, consider ourselves as a free being as we think we are capable of

Hence, we are not responsible for our misdeeds as we do not have free will. Let us take an example of

makes it accessible to other users within the network. Would you shut it down and put it in your

thing to question would be, if one should be punished for misdeeds if they are mentally ill. People that
are mentally ill do not have the capability of functioning in the society like most other people do. This
is due to impairments of the brain that is way beyond anyone s control. In some court cases, this

Judge Posner s Challenge to the Philosophy of Law Essay
Judge Posner s Challenge to the Philosophy of Law
ABSTRACT: This paper presents a conceptual analysis of Richard Posner s empirical theory of
judicial behavior. His theory opposes the conventional view which holds that judges are insulated
from external pressures so their judicial decisions will be based upon a disinterested understanding of
the law. Since economics holds that all people including judges attempt to maximize their utilities,
Posner thinks that the conventional view is an embarrassment which presumes judges are not rational.
His theory holds that the judicial insulation has actually left judges maximizing their utilities by
trading judicial utility against leisure utility. Posner s theory presents a challenge to the ... Show more

Economics holds that people make decisions based on efforts to maximize their utilities. That is
sometimes expressed as an attempt to maximize happiness or self interest. Two of Adam Smith s
insights are especially relevant here. A micro thesis holds that in the commercial world people attempt
to maximize their own utility while a macro thesis holds that in a competitive economy, the pursuit of
utilities on the part of producers and consumers automatically leads to maximum welfare. Economists
refer to utility maximization as rational, and say any exceptions are so rare that they do not pose
significant exception to the general economic assumption.
Posner is concerned because the conventional view of judicial behavior presumes that judges and
justices are, on these terms, irrational. For the purposes of his analysis, Posner concentrates on judges
and justices referenced in Article III of the US Constitution. I will follow his lead here, though both of
us recognize extrapolation to other judicial settings would be reasonably simple. From an international
perspective, Article III judges have been more exempted from the temptations and constraints of
employment than other judges. Posner points out that Article III judicial tenure is even more secure
than academic tenure:
A federal judge can be lazy, lack judicial temperament, mistreat his staff, berate without reason the
lawyers who appear

  • 2. Investigating The Substances Of Water Chromatography Most chemists and many other scientists must routinely separate mixtures and identify their components. The ability to qualitatively identify the substances found in a sample can be critical. For example, an environmental chemist investigating samples of polluted ground water will want to know which toxic ions might be present in a sample. Chromatography is one of the first tools used in such situations. In this technique, many types of mixtures can be separated into the component pure substances; by comparison to a standard sample, each component substance can also be tentatively identified. Many varieties of chromatography exist, each one designed to separate specific types of mixtures. The common feature of each type of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The movement of the components in the mobile phase is controlled by the significance of their interactions with the mobile and/or stationary phases. Because of the differences in factors such as the solubility of certain components in the mobile phase and the strength of their affinities for the stationary phase, some components will move faster than others, thus facilitating the separation of the components within that mixture. The first chromatograph was invented by Russian botanist Mikhail Semenovich Tsvett. Mikhail Tsvet was born 14 May 1872 in Asti, Italy. His mother was Italian, and his father was a Russian official. Neoliberal globalisation has been a system of smoke and mirrors where the basic instability and unsustainability of the whole system has been covered up by the credit bubble . Discuss In this research paper I am going to discuss the extent to which neoliberal globalisation has been a system of smoke and mirrors where the basic instability and unsustainability of the whole system has been covered up by the credit bubble. I will firstly attempt to define what neoliberal globalisation is, and explain how it has spread globally. I ll then outline examples of the effect this has had on countries, and how it has led to the growth of unregulated corporations. Neoliberalism believes strongly in having an up to date free market, It focuses on the principle of having a free market with nationalised institutions transforming to become private entities, this leads to most if not all public institutions being sold off to private investors. It also believes in reducing the helping hand of government by cutting public services and removing social initiatives such as unemployment and disability payment. Neoliberalism also believes that to create a truly free market, there must be no regulation of it; this allows the market to generate as much profit as possible. Individual responsibility is a key aspect of neoliberalism, as it ensures that the government can be relinquished of its responsibility to provide for the poorest in society, this forces the poorest to pretty much fight to survive due to no state healthcare, education or social security. Capitalism is one of the most important aspects of neoliberalism, it allows anyone to achieve their goals if they have the determination to follow it through. Neoliberal globalisation is therefore the global expansion of neoliberal economic theory; this has resulted in the formation of a global economic system which operates with oversight from neoliberal economic institutions such as the International Monetary Fund and ... • 5. The Importance Of Greed In Macbeth Oftentimes, to further their lifestyles, people hide behind a fictitious version of themselves. Eventually, one finds their mind twisting and turning, detracted and dismembered, unable to bear the gravity and distress of their conflicting personas. Take, for example, the character Macbeth in the play Macbeth, who to remand power reveals his true unstable persona while continuing to maintain a virtuous one to the public which results in a tyrannical dominance of his instability. Because of Macbeth s actions, Scotland is thrown into chaos when his unstable personality completely dominates him and leads to his demise at the hands of rebels affected by his greedy and indecent actions. In the play Macbeth, Shakespeare uses light and darkness imagery to convey how Macbeth s ambition and greed led to corruption, signifying the negative societal effects tyrants have because of their greed and ambition. Shakespeare uses light imagery to reveal Macbeth s immoral personality which resulted from greed. Before Banquo was murdered, Macbeth laments to Lady Macbeth, Light thickens, and the crow makes wing to the rooky wood: Good things of day begin to droop and drowse, whiles night s black agents to their preys do rouse (III.ii. l50 53). Macbeth explains that eventually anything good will fall away and anything made of evil will rise and take control of the world. Shakespeare uses metaphorical imagery to make Macbeth admit how mentally mutilated he became by his ambition to remain in power by symbolizing him and Lady Macbeth as night s agents or evil beings and Banquo as good . Macbeth s immoral behavior indicates the desire and want for power as a sovereign and what limits he would go to just to ensure his vision, resulting in disfigurement of his kingdom. Furthermore, when Macbeth is debating whether it is alright for him to murder King Duncan, Macbeth notes, Stars, hide your fires, /Set not light see my black and deep desires;/ The eye wink at the hand; yet let that be/ which the eye fears, when it is done, to see (I.iv.51 53). Through his words, Macbeth directly admits that he has an immoral side to him and that he wants it to remain concealed to people while he portrays his virtuous persona. Shakespeare ... This is demonstrated through the passage #8220;Whenever the Mortimer #8217;s caught sight of them [the children on the train] there was a sudden brightness on their faces. #8221; Similarly, in #8220;The Great Leap Frog Contest #8221; the setting enhances the portrayal of Rosie as the underdog. In the second stanza of section one, Eliot vividly describes a desert wasteland. A few lines later in the same stanza, he depicts a young hyacinth girl (l. 37) and a lush garden full of flowers. Several are working upon the use of electromagnetic pulses, specifically the electromagnetic gun (EM gun, rail gun, coil gun) as a way for new weaponry and advances in science. The rail gun is a machine, in which it uses electromagnetic wave to send objects far distances without a use of a fuse. Its makeup is of, usually, two parallel copper rails, connected to a power source, which must be enormous. Within the rails is a groove carved out to fit in a small projectile, which can be aluminum, graphite, or copper.[1] The way the gun works is that the power source sends an electric current up one rail, going through the projectile, and down the second rail. The result is a powerful magnetic field that causes the projectile to be thrown out of the barrel at high speeds. This phenomenon has been named Lorentz Force.[2] Due to the design of the rails, the projectile accelerates as it moves up the barrel. Judge Posner s Challenge to the Philosophy of Law Essay Judge Posner s Challenge to the Philosophy of Law ABSTRACT: This paper presents a conceptual analysis of Richard Posner s empirical theory of judicial behavior. His theory opposes the conventional view which holds that judges are insulated from external pressures so their judicial decisions will be based upon a disinterested understanding of the law. Since economics holds that all people including judges attempt to maximize their utilities, Posner thinks that the conventional view is an embarrassment which presumes judges are not rational. His theory holds that the judicial insulation has actually left judges maximizing their utilities by trading judicial utility against leisure utility. Posner s theory presents a challenge to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Economics holds that people make decisions based on efforts to maximize their utilities. That is sometimes expressed as an attempt to maximize happiness or self interest. Two of Adam Smith s insights are especially relevant here. A micro thesis holds that in the commercial world people attempt to maximize their own utility while a macro thesis holds that in a competitive economy, the pursuit of utilities on the part of producers and consumers automatically leads to maximum welfare. Economists refer to utility maximization as rational, and say any exceptions are so rare that they do not pose significant exception to the general economic assumption. Posner is concerned because the conventional view of judicial behavior presumes that judges and justices are, on these terms, irrational. For the purposes of his analysis, Posner concentrates on judges and justices referenced in Article III of the US Constitution. I will follow his lead here, though both of us recognize extrapolation to other judicial settings would be reasonably simple. From an international perspective, Article III judges have been more exempted from the temptations and constraints of employment than other judges. Posner points out that Article III judicial tenure is even more secure than academic tenure: A federal judge can be lazy, lack judicial temperament, mistreat his staff, berate without reason the lawyers who appear ...
