Analysis of an Affair in Anton ChekhovВґs The Lady with the...
Anna and Dmitri are two people with a strong desire to be together, but this is conflicted by
reality. Their reality is that they are married to other people. The love that they share for one
another represents the struggle that one may face wanting to break away from reality. Dmitri
was a man who had been unfaithful to his wife quite often. Her imperfections seemed to be his
only reasoning for this. Dmitri was most likely only in Yalta to look for a new woman to have an
affair with. Considering this, being with Anna didn t bother him. He was introduced in the story
as a rather selfish man who seemed to just have his way with Anna. He referred to women as an
inferior race , due to his past experience. Anna, on the other hand, was new to the idea of being
unfaithful to her husband. This scared her so even though she knew that she loved Dmitri, she
convinced herself that it was not real lovethat they shared. Throughout the story, both Anna and
Dmitri changed the way they felt about their lives. Dmitri seemed to have had a very superficial
relationship with his wife, and this made him appreciate his relationship with Anna even more.
Once he spots her, the scenery in the story begins to shape. It is full of beautiful colors and light.
The more exciting his life became in Yalta with Anna, the more dull and uninteresting his life back
home became. His thoughts portray to the reader that he believes Anna is the perfect contender for
an affair. The author of the story, Chekov,

4.4.3 Regression Analysis
In this study, a multiple regression analysis was applied to test the influence among predictor
variables. The research used statistical package for social sciences (SPSS V 20) to code, enter and

According to the finding in the above table the regression equation was
Y = 1.381+ 0.168 X1 + 0.389 X2+ 0.636X3 + 0.304X4
Where Y is the dependent variable (effectiveness of inventory management), X1 is procurement
procedure, X2 is Funding, X3 is the staff skill X4 is Documentation.
The strength of each predictor (independent) variable influence on the dependent variable can be
investigated via standardized Beta coefficient. Hence, the regression coefficient explain the average
amount of change in dependent variable that caused by a unit of change in the independent variable.
Therefore, as shown the table above fund is the most contributing factor in the prediction of
effectiveness of inventory management in Este woreda public sector with beta value 0.359

Refugees In Brazil Research Paper
The nation of Brazil believes that their is indeed a need for a solution to the refugee problem, that
in Europe, and that in Southeast Asia and Oceania. Brazil is one of the biggest recipients of
refugees in Latin America, with former Justice Minister EugГЄnio AragГЈo saying in June 2016,
given the financial circumstances, that Brazil could take up to 100,000 refugees, 20,000 per year.
The nationof Brazil has several reasons for accepting refugees into the country. With the acceptance
of refugees, from both areas, Brazil increases the nation s international reputation within the
community. Additionally, the nation of Brazil is in need of skilled workers, and refugees offer a
solution to the resettlement problem, and fills this need the nation of Brazil has. Refugees offer a
way for the nation of Brazil to boost its economy, and increase innovation within the country. As
the Nation of Brazil s economy is in turmoil, the refugees could offer a solution to the economic
problems, as they could boost the economy. This positive effects could certainly occur in other
countries that refugees take refuge in, as if they are given the proper compensation, refugees can be
an asset to a country.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Brazil has one of the highest number of immigrants coming to the country in the Western
hemisphere. The nation of Brazil has always been responsive to refugees and immigrants. Due to
the nation of Brazil s past, the nation of Brazil has a more accepting public than the majority of

Why Was The Automobile Important In America
The Automobile played a big part in the way people go to place to place and it also played a part
in the economy and the rapid growth in the United States in the twentieth century. With the higher
incomes, it meant that people had money to spend on cars and goods. The inventing of the
automobile was the greatest thing people have come up with because know that is the only way
people get around these days.
People during this time mainly lived on farms and did not have a fast way to get into town. So
people started moving to the cities because more jobs were available and over all better lives. The
Automobile was so affordable in America that it started an industrial powerhouse. At first there was

there was the higher incomes made the importance to people to have more money and spend it
on cars and goods during this time especially after the great depression people went from
basically broke to having some money to spend on stuff. Much thanks to cars there was a big
production of roads that were made over time and it also connects distant places and
communities. One of the very most known highways in the United States is Route 66 that
connects the Midwest and southern California. With cars in being in high demand business
started wanting products to be sent to other places. During the 1900 s when millions of people
left their home to live in the city in the United States also provided immigrants and other
minority groups jobs at assembly lines and other specialized jobs. In the 1920 s the U.S.
government became more involved with making the roads matter to connect t major cities.
Through 1939 1945 the U.S. government Sayed no production on cars because the U.S. was
focusing on the war needs. Company like General Motor Company s started working on
warplanes, guns, tanks, ammunition and armored cars for people now a days their car
represents more than their social status. During the three were war posters incourgening the war
production effort with the saying keep em firing . In 1956 was when the Highway Act was
made and it builded a system of insterstate highways. In 1960 s there was a cioncern about air
pollution and that s how the idea started for electric cars. There is about eight hundred million

The Effect Of Nitrogen On The Growth Of A Sapling Essay
Introduction
Nitrogen is an essential nutrient for plant growth, being a key component in the process of
photosynthesis and is a part of the chlorophyll molecule. Nitrogen acts to increase the amount of the
green chlorophyll in plant leaves which allows them to absorb the optimum amount of sunlight by
increasing the surface area of leaves to hold the chlorophyll and optimum amounts of nitrogen in a
plant allow it to produce enough foliage in order for it to successfully photosynthesise efficiently,
therefore producing the right energy it needs to function.
I am interested to see how the levels of nitrogen in the young saplings, measured from the leaves of
randomly chosen plants, affects the rate at which they grow around the radius of their trunks and
whether there is a significant relationship between the two. I would expect that certain levels of
nitrogen are the most optimal for the growth of a sapling where enough is present to allow the most
efficient production of photosynthesis in its leaves as the energy produced in this process would
allow growth throughout the rest of the plant. At very low levels I could expect growth rates of
saplings to be very slow or not at all and as the nitrogen levels in a sapling s leaves increases for
the growth rate to increase to a certain extent. There would however be likely a point where an
increase in nitrogen levels does not mean a higher growth rate as too much can be detrimental to
other components in a sapling s health,

Marie Joseph Paul Yves Roche Gilbert Du Motier
Marie Joseph Paul Yves Roche Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette was born in 1757. At a
very young age Mr. Lafayette became a very wealthy orphan after his parents passing; his father
at two years old and mother at twelve. When the young wealthy orphan turned fourteen years of
age he decided he would join the Royal Army and at the age of 16 married into one of the
wealthiest families in France marrying Marie Adrienne Francoise de Noailles. When he turned
eighteen years old he found himself at a dinner where he met the Duke of Gloucester who spoke
with much compassion regarding the trials the colonies were facing. Hoping to keep his plans a
secret from the King whom he knows would be completely against his plans; Mr. Lafayette
reveals to a close friend Comte de Broglie his plans of a better life far away in the United States.
After learning of his friend s plans to travel to the Americas Comte de Broglie introduced Mr.
Lafayette to the Baron Johan De Kalb who also had travel plans to the U.S. and after delays and a
few written agreements from Silas Deane with promises they would be commissioned major
generals they set off across the Atlantic. After arriving to the United States he and several other
French officers volunteered to aid the Americans after learning of the difficulties involved with
their efforts to gain independence. In the summer 1777 Mr. Lafayette found himself in Charleston,

Essay How Did Class Structure, Ethnicity, And Gender...
LaKecia Osborne HIS 202 Journal III Prof. T. Johnson How did class structure, ethnicity, and
gender affect urban politics? Social classes and gender roles played bigger pivotal roles during
the urbanization of the United States during the earlier parts of the 20th century than ethnicity, in
my opinion. Women began to obtain more working roles in the industrialized America and
middle class women tried to lessen the burden of being in the working class or God forbid being
worse and being poor immigrant. They did this by opening settlement houses such as the Hull
House and others like it where newly arriving immigrants could get food and water and basic
necessities to transitioning into society in a new country. Ethnicity only was important to people

Patient: 64, Male
Final Diagnosis: Varicella Pneumonia
Symptoms: Increased shortness of breath, cough, dyspnea, tachypnea
Medication: Acyclovir
Clinical Procedure: Chest X Ray
Specialty:
Objective: Uncommon Disease
Background: Varicella Pneumonia remains to this day an uncommon and rare complication among
both adults and children. (1) Yet, ironically, it accounts for the majority and mortality among
adults diagnosed with Varicella. In general, Varicella Pneumonia tends to appear once in 400 cases
of patients with Varicella (2) and has the mortality rate of 10 30% and can increase to 50% to
patients with respiratory failure. Patients usually complain of severe hypoxemia and increased
shortness of breath. Generally, the illness is treated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On examination, the patient exemplified diminished breathing sounds along with mild scattered
cracks.Diagnosis of Varicella pneumonia was made on the basis of the rash, pulmonary symptoms,
and the contact with a patient with chickenpox. Additionally, chest x ray (16.3%) showed interstitial
and/or nodular infiltrates which indicates the presence of pneumonia. Varicella Pneumonia is
known to occur in approximately 1/400 cases with adults with chickenpox. Likewise, the risk
factors of Varicella Pneumonia is smoking which provides substantial evidence in order to form the
diagnosis. The patient had then undergone seven days of intravenous acyclovir associated with
Varicella. The treatment was successful which might hint that if the patient were to be given early
RX, then it may modify the natural course of this complication.
Conclusions: In retrospect, Varicella Pneumonia still remains to be a dangerous complication that
still kills thousands, however, if accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment were to be made, then
patients would have a greater chance to overcome the illness. Yet, survival still depends on the
recognized risk factors.

What Happens If You Expose Individuals To Web Pages Essay
What happens if you expose individuals to web pages for short periods of time? First
impressions of web pages are important to HCI developers as they have been shown as powerful
in a variety of contexts which include studying personal character attributes. There has been
multiple research and experiments where individuals were exposed to web pages for 50
milliseconds and how individuals formed an opinion of web pages. Notably the works of
Lindgaard et al 2006 this study is where the participants were exposed to a website twice when
viewing the website for only 50 milliseconds. The study showed that individuals can form a reliable
first impression whilst only viewing the website for 50 milliseconds. Within the second study
conducted by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, the research showed us that the relationship between visual appealing ratings fell
below par for twenty two participants for the first and second phase. There was a high
correlation between visual appeal and other characteristics such as the participants noted the web
pages were boring, good design, bad design, bad colour etc... However, there was a rather low
correlation amongst visual appeal, simple complex and a reasonable correlation amongst
attractiveness and clear confusing judgements. By only viewing web pages for 50 milliseconds
individuals can form a first impression. The study of and analysing aesthetic scopes of web page
design and how design affects attractiveness is vital for HCI designers which will enable them to
implement and produce a suitable system for users which meets their requirements. It is imperative
that the HCI designer takes into consideration the necessary factors related to attractiveness and
unattractiveness of websites. It is imperative that the design of the website must include technical
and low level aspects making sure that it interacts with each other. There has been research relating
to design concepts. The work of Kim et el., 2003; Park et al., 2004 where they found out that design

Background Of An Authorised Firearms Officer
Chapter 1
Background
When an authorised firearms officer in the police is involved in a shooting, procedures and
guidelines are firmly incorporated to ensure that investigations are thoroughly carried out.
However, most police officers in England and Wales will never possess a firearm, face a gun or
discharge one as this supports the ideology that police officers in England and Wales have no desire
to carry a firearm routinely (Rostker, 2008, p. 78)
It is not a common occurrence for a weapon to be discharged in any firearms incident in England
and Wales, for example if a firearm is discharged following an alert, over half the rounds fired are
believed to miss their intended target and of those people hit by a round, more than half survive
(Punch, 2011, p. 1). A similar situation also exists in the United Statesof America.
The United States are viewed in the Western society as extreme in relation to weapons and
violence because of its high police response rates to its widespread strong gun culture (Crank,
1998, p. 152). The United States will be introduced as a comparator to this research as it is already
highly compared to other societies where the sale of weapons and its regulation is minimal, with
only local law enforcement agencies setting the policy with no national policing system.
A report released in 2012 by the Federal Bureau of Investigation stated that 410 Americans were
lawfully killed by the police with only one victim unarmed (2013). However, during

I Am A Proud Aunt Of A 2-Year Old Beautiful Baby Girl.Her
I am a proud aunt of a 2 year old beautiful baby girl. Her name is Julianna Rasberry. Right now,
she currently attends A Mother s Heart Daycare facility. Last week, Julianna had a pretty tough
week. On Monday, she came home with scratches all over her face. Her teacher explained to me
that one incident occurred in the playroom area earlier that morning, after Julianna had been
dropped off. All of the kids gathered in the big playroom that morning, when their parents dropped
them off. So, her teacher was not able to explain one of the scratches on her face. The other two

These elements are being able to listen to the opinions of others, even when their opinions differ
from her s and having a sense of self respect. The first strategy that I would recommend would be
to incorporate Julianna within the Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) meetings. I know that
it would be a challenge for a 2 year old to sit through the whole entire meeting, so I would have
her present for the first five minutes, at the beginning of the meeting and then would have her
sent back to play with her classmates. This would help to make her aware of the fact that her
teacher and I do communicate regarding her academic and behavioral performance. It may also
make her aware of the fact that her behavior is being recorded/kept track of and will not be
tolerated. This strategy will allow her to work on listening to other people s opinions and self
respect. Another strategy that could be used is for her teacher to make note of her behavior on her
daily classroom report form that is sent home with her each day. This can be reviewed by Julianna
s parents and with Julianna at home, so that she knows that her parents know what is going on at
school. Time out is another strategy that should be incorporated within the classroom setting. This
will not only help to immediately address the inappropriate behavior, but it will also help Julianna
to work on her listening skills and allow her time to think about what she

The Murder Of James Byrd
The murder of James Byrd, the Howard Beach incident, and the shooting in Ferguson are some of
the most infamous racially motivated hate crimes. But, one of the most important things to note is
the violent uproar each of these events caused within the African American community. In the novel
Frankenstein, Mary Shelley illuminates the effects of racial prejudice by emphasizing the Creature
s shift in character as he is continually rejected by society, the DeLacey s, and his creator. Similarly
to modern day racism, the Creature s hatred towards mankind is fueled by his desire for
acceptance. He is forced into the archetype of The Monster; initially good, turned against the world
by the absence of love in his life.
Ordinary humans are unable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This ignorance breeds fear and hatred in the human race causing the creature to lash out against
humanity, in fear of being rejected and tormented. Personality and appearance are two very
different things; human beings need to distinguish that fact. This same discrimination appears in
today s society, it may not be as prominent as it was in Mary Shelley s time, nevertheless, it still
occurs.
This fear and rejection of the Creature is seen not only in the different people the Monster
encounters throughout his travels, but also in his creator. Frankenstein is unable to stand the sight
of the creature stating, its unearthly ugliness rendered it almost too horrible for human eyes
(Shelley 95). Frankenstein s rejection causes the Creature to accuse Frankenstein of abandonment:
you had endowed me with perceptions and passions, and then cast me abroad an object for the
scorn and horror of mankind (Shelley 141). The Creature says that he is Frankenstein s obligation
and it is Frankenstein s responsibility to be his essential caretaker. Although Victor originally
cowered in fear of the Creature, the Creature claims he was initially good and it his Victor s
rejection which drives him to violence. The monster repeatedly lectures Frankenstein on his
responsibility, I am thy creature; I ought to be thy Adam, but I am rather the

2.3.1 Differences between The Blitz and IRA attacks
Both of these events seem very different an the first look as they took place in very different
situations in the history of London, even though the real time gap between them isn t that huge
compared to the overall past of the British capital.
They were very distinct in many aspects for example the reason the final intention and the way they
happened. That s not surprising as one of them was a real war, country against country, while the
other one was a terroristic organization against the government.
However both events, The Blitz and the IRA attacks had one important thing in common: Both
wanted to frighten the citizens of London.
To reach their goal and show what their capable of the Germans during the Blitz as well as the Irish

where she makes friends and has to cooperate with her lawyer. Devon can t remember anything
from the night when she gave birth but as things start clicking into place, Devon realizes what she

The author uses a great deal of detail when describing characters. For example, the author wrote,
Yellow...yellow. The color of Devon s mom s hair. The color of a sun breaking through the flat
gray clouds. Of a lemon drop. Devon allows her eyes to droop closed for a moment. I can
distinctly imagine the appearance of the characters because the author uses the detail that he
does. The plot of this book moves quickly because she starts to remember things from That Night
from flashbacks that happen often. The text reads, She steps slightly closer to him, lets her
shoulder brush his arm as they walk hand in hand. Lets her hip bump into his. Once. Then.
Twice.... The author uses plenty of imagery when describing places and people. For example,
the author wrote, Devon s eyes skim over the room s three rectangular tables and finds that
vacant seat indicated. It s beside the pale girl with the breads. The girl scoots her chair back to
make room for Devon, presenting the seat with an open hand, her crooked smile creeping back
over her face. The author s tone in this book is stressful, and outraged. An example from the
story includes, No! Get out of here! Devon s mom lunges at the man, grabbing his shoulders
from behind, her long nails digging into his jacket. Get the hell out of here! Are you hearing
me? The other man, the one in the uniform, appears suddenly, pulling Devon s mom off of the
first man. The theme of this story is displacement. Devon is a girl who gets good grades, is
involved in sports, and gets her work done on time. She is not someone you would expect to be in
jail, and she is so much different from her peers in jail. I can apply this lesson in my life because if
I am ever in a place where I feel uncomfortable and out of place, I know that it will end soon. This
lesson will make a change in my future

Is Technology Has Changed Our Brains
Don t Fret: Technology Has Changed Our Brains Humans are creatures of habit. We wake up at
specific times to go about our days and then we sit down at our dining room tables to eat at
specified times throughout the day, usually habitually. But, humanity hasn t always been this
algorithmic. It wasn t until the advent of the mechanical clock that our lives began to mold around
time. We changed. I would like to assume that we became more productive because of this change.
However, humanity historically hasn t perceived change as good. In Sherry Turkle s The Flight
from Conversation she negatively asserts that technology has changed the way we socialize and
communicate by sacrificing conversation for our mere connection to each other through
technology and allowing that connection to replace the former. In the same vein, Nicholas Carr s
Is Google Making Us Stupid? establishes the idea that technology has altered the way we critically
read and think for the worse. As the title of his article suggests, Google (more broadly the internet)
has simplified our reading style, and in turn is making us stupid . I choose to defy both these
notions. Technology hasn t become the catalyst for a society where we lose the ability to have
social connections or critically read and think. Rather, humans have adapted to change through the
use of technology as a new way of thinking, reading, connecting, and socializing in attempt to
become more productive and efficient.

What Does My Papa s Waltz Mean
When you read My Papa s Waltz, you might think it is about a boy and his father having fun just
before bedtime. However, if you look further into the words you see much more. Considering the
text is all one needs to discover the true meaning of this poem. The words will get into your soul
and bring sorrow and anger to the surface. The word whiskey (line 1) shows the father is a
drinking man, and the word dizzy (line 2) implies the amount of whiskey his father consumes
sickens the boy. The boy is young and fragile which plays in the lines of the poem death (line 3),
battered (line 10), beat (line 13), and caked hard (line 14), are all negative hidden meanings. The
word countenance (line 7) parallels the mother s stern disapproval. Hung (line 3) is past tense
reflecting on an earlier time. Understanding the words is the first step in analyzing the poem....

Rhythm as in lines one through four, and seven through eight, are seen throughout the poem.
Whiskey, waltzing, was flows, contrasting to the negativity of the first verse. The image of the
father beating time on the boy s head with the palm of his hand sounds detrimental. It portrays the
father as having the utmost power over the boy, he grabs his wrist instead of holding his hands,
showing the control the father has. The boy hung on like death (line 3), is showing he hung on to
save his life. Verses rhyme sounds unnatural, giving the poem an uncomfortable feeling. The verses

What Is The Role Of Corruption In Animal Farm
The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out for himself
, from H.L. Mencken. Animalism, in Animal Farm by George Orwell, promises everything you
could desire in a society: abundance in the things you need, equality, and less labor. Animal Farm
is about a farm on which the animals believe that they are not being treated fairly, so they all
decide to revolt against their farmer and create, what they think to be, a perfect society, called
Animalism. Animalism in the book drew parallels to socialism in the Soviet Union in the 1940s.
Unfortunately, like the Soviet Union, Animalism becomes corrupt because of tyrants at the top who
lead the government, in this case, pigs. Slowly, but surely the socialist like... Show more content on

They help the pigs succeed by not wanting to make their own decisions, promoting fear amongst
the animals driven by violence, and their willingness to do any dirty work requested by the pigs.
Ultimately, these choices have the largest effect in helping the pig s rise to power. Having been
in a corrupt country before, to see family, I see many parallels between the dogs and the military
in African countries. In Kenya, instead of the military working to enforce the laws, more often
they work to promote fear, in order to keep the corrupt government in place. For fear tactics,
every time you see a police officer they have a large gun strapped to the front of his or her chest.
They sometimes ignore people who are being robbed and take bribes from criminals who are
trying to not get caught. From Animal Farm, I have learned numerous lessons, but one of the
most important is that a good society needs checks and balances when it comes to the military. If
they are not checks and balances in place, there can be a pooling of power which results in
corruption like what we see in Animal Farm. Secondly, in order to be a good citizen in a
Democratic Republic make the choice that you know is right, instead of the most attractive
choice, or else you can end up being part of the problem like the dogs. All in all, try to make your
set up your society in a way to avoid a pooling of power and try to make it better every chance you

The Mozart Effect Essay
Mozart effect is a believe that listening to music could enhance individuals intelligence, and
therefore lead to better performance in various spheres, such as languages and arithmetics. There
are researches pointed out that listening to music while tasks performance would result in
significant boost of scores. The effect of listening to Mozart s musicon spatial seasoning was
looked over in 1933 by Dr. Rauscher, three common tests about abstract spatial reasoning were
given to the participants after they were exploded to three conditions, (1) Mozart K. 448; (2) verbal

According to the course list of Parkland Music, one 45 minutes pre grade violin class will cost 195

very heavy financial burden to many families.
However, no proof of long term performance enhancement was found among most existing research

Hall (1952) and Mitchell (1949) illustrated that background music could lead to enhancement in
reading comprehension while Fogelson (1937) and Kiger (1989) reported that no noticeable effect

Dr. Rauscher clarified that the enhancement caused in condition (1) was just a short term progress,

Analysis Of Alive And Robinson Crusoe
The theme of perseverance is prominently featured through both Alive and Robinson Crusoe, as
well as the focus on characters who have been unexpectedly marooned. The way the authors present
these themes, develop characters and setting is how my chosen extracts link to each other.
Both novels are based on adventures and describe the life of the characters as they survive after
being marooned in a remote place; however they are two different genres. Alive is a creative
nonfiction novel written in 1974 by Piers Paul Read, which documents the events in 1972 when a
plane carrying 45 passengers crashed in the Andes. The genre allows Read to recount the survivor s
events in the most detailed, accurate way while also using literary techniques associated with fiction
to create an interesting novel. In the extract (page 213 214), Read exhibits the conventions of
creative nonfiction, for example Parrado , and Canessa are characters but they are based on and
represent the survivors and their emotions, attitudes and values. The extract focuses on the physical
and mental perseverance of Canessa and Parrado, who despite difficulties, manage to climb the
mountain after three days. Religion and hope are also themes present in the extract.
Robinson Crusoe is an adventure fiction novel written by Daniel Defoe, published in 1719.
Adventure novels typically exhibit morals to the story and focus on exciting escapades involving
the protagonist. They also have fictional characters and

The Framers Of The U.s. Constitution Essay
Introduction The majority of people, if not all, by human nature are greedy and work toward
their own desires and betterment. This natural instinct to protect one s self interest actually is a
positive force in the world. People will naturally work toward improving their station in life and
the innovative ideas that are unleashed and actions that are taken in these pursuits improve other
people s lives as well. The issue begins when this greed grows unchecked and becomes a desire
to have power over others. History has long shown that people who have power, especially power
protected by a governing body, should be held accountable. A community of people should never
assume that those they have elected to govern them possess greed that is more virtuous than
individual greed. The Framers of the U.S. Constitution recognized this abuse of power and were
intent to put in place a system that included separation of powers and checks and balances to
protect American citizens from tyranny. Although the Constitution does not specifically address
term limits on public servants in government leadership, there is evidence that some of the
Framers understood that the negative effects of power hungry public officials. During the

which have a powerful influence on the affairs of men. These are ambition and avarice; The love

The Nervous System And Peripheral Nervous Systems
The nervous system has three general functions: a sensory function, an interpretative function and a
motor function. Sensory nerves gather information from inside the body and the outside
environment. The nerves then carry the information to central nervous system (CNS). Nervous
tissue consists of two main types of cells: neurons and neuroglia. Neurons also so known as nerve
cells ) transmit nerve impulses that move information around the body. Central Nervous Systemand
Peripheral Nervous System are Identified as the two major groups of nervous system organs while
CNS = brain spinal cord and PNS nerves that extend from the brain (cranial nerves) and spinal cord
(spinal nerves). Sensory receptors respond to stimuli and transmit data about them to the brain. In
the skin, receptors detect touch, pressure, vibration, temperature, and pain. Elsewhere in the body,
more specialized receptors detect light (see How the eye works), sound (see The mechanism of
hearing), smell, and taste. The body nervous system detects the changes affecting the body, make
decisions, and stimulate muscles or glands to respond. The responses counteract the effects of the
changes, where the nervous system helps maintain homeostasis. Neurons vary in size and shape and
also differ in the lengths and sizes because of their axons and dendrites. A neuronhas 4 basic parts:
the dendrites, the cell body which is also called the soma, the axon and the axon terminal. Dendrites

Segmented Polyurethanes Can Be Represented By Three Basic...
Segmented polyurethanes can be represented by three basic components in the following general
form: P (D(CD)n P)n
Where P is the polyol, D is the diisocyanate and C is the chain extender. Polyol, or the so called
soft segment, is an oligomeric macromonomer comprising a soft flexible chain terminated by
hydroxyl ( OH) groups. The chain extender is usually a small molecule with either hydroxyl, or
amine end groups. The diisocyanate is a low molecular weight compound that can react with either
the polyol or chain extender, leading to the interesting segmented structure. In linear polyurethanes,
the three components have a functionality of two. If a branched or crosslinked material is desired,
multifunctional polyols, isocyanates, and sometimes chain extenders can be incorporated into the
formulation. Due to the statistical nature of the copolymerization, polyurethanes have both a
distribution in total molecular weight and adistribution in the hard segment sequence length, those
copolymer sequences denoted as D(CD)n, that follow essentially a most probable distribution.
The principle chemical reaction involved in the synthesis of polyurethanes is the urethane forming
reaction, i.e., the reaction between isocyanate and hydroxyl groups.
Because this is a nucleophilic addition reaction, it is catalyzed by basic compounds such as tertiary
amines and by metal compounds such as organotin. Urethane formation is actually an equilibrium
reaction; the presence of catalyst therefore

Comparing And Differences Of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart And...
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Giuseppe Verdi both wrote exquisite Requiems. Since Mozart
lived in the Classical era, and Verdi lived in the Romantic era, their compositions were written
almost one hundred years apart. Though there are similarities in their pieces they differ in many
ways.
In Salzburg, Austria, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozartwas born on January 27, 1756. Wolfgang was the
only son of Leopold and Maria Pertl Mozart to survive. Wolfgang began learning about music
when he was three years old, watching his sister Nannerl play the keyboard. He was a musical
prodigy, composing his first piece at 5, and beginning tours with his father at 6 years old. When
Wolfgang turned 13, his father took him to Italy to show off this young boy s talents. Before
Mozart turned 21, he was appointed to be assistant concertmaster. It was at this time that he wrote
his first opera. Mozart left on another tour in 1777, and then returned to Salzburg to be a court
organist. He soon decided he was not so fond of this position, and resigned to become a freelance
musician in Vienna. When he moved to Vienna, he married Constanze Weber, against his father s
wishes. Wolfgang lived in luxury during the beginning of his life in Vienna, he was producing
popular operas. Soon, though, he began to lack money, and took loans that would leave him in
debt for the rest of his life. In the final years of Mozart s life, he was most productive, writing his
most famous symphonies, The Magic Flute, and of course,

How Does Glycolysis Affect Yeast Fermentation
Abstract
Sugars catabolize (break down) through the process of glycolysis. Glycolysis causes the sugar to
undergo fermentation, which yields CO2. In this experiment, different sugar solutions were mixed
with a yeast solution in order to see how fast and if they react to produce CO2. The yeast solution
caused the sugar solutions to undergo glycolysis and produce CO2. Glucose syrup, White sugar,

Sweetener all yielded CO2, yet Corn flour did not.
Introduction
The purpose behind this experiment is to identify a correlation between the production of CO2
when yeast is exposed to water and heat. Yeast being fungi requires nutrients (sugar/carbohydrates),
water, heat and oxygen to grow and survive like most other living organism. As a bi product of its
growth the fungi should produce CO2. The experiment involves testing 3 different forms of sugars
and 1 type of flour to show how yeast reacts with each under the correct conditions, then measuring
the amount of gas produced.

Ap English Literature Essay
Literature has always been a window into life during a particular time frame. Fiction and
nonfiction alike will give its readers a glimpse of the lives of those of varying social statuses,
along with the culture and politics of the time. This remains true regardless of the period in which a
work was written. From the Romantic era to the 20th Century, literature has been skilled at
providing understanding of others and their lives. For example, from the Romantic period works
like the two William Wordsworthpoems I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud and The World is Too
Much with Us, along with A Red, Red Rose by Robert Burns. The Victorian erahas its own share of
works that reflect the time when it was written, including Lewis Carroll s The Walrus... Show more

Language can mean a number of things in regards to literature, it can refer to the slang that is used,
the way that the author phrased a sentence, or even the dialect that the work is written in. Authors
like Robert Burns, Gerard Manley Hopkins, and W.H. Auden in particular make use of language in
the first two ways mentioned as a way of reflecting their respective time periods. Robert Burn s A
Red, Red Rose is a poem that makes perfect use of language in order to display the thoughts of
the author, which in turn displays the general thoughts of the time as well as his own location. A
Red, Red Rose is a rather romantic poem, and considering the era in which it was written makes
it fairly obvious that other authors of the time were discussing similar subjects. When discussing
the beauty of his love, Burn s use of language which talks of how, [...] fair art thou, my bonnie
lass [...] sort of automatically puts the reader in a mindset that can better understand his life
(Burns). Couple the more archaic way of writing with the dialect of the author, which is put on
display in his goodbyes to his love in the lines, [...] And fare thee weel, my only luve! And fare
thee weel awhile! And I will come again, my luve [...] (Burns). God s Grandeur by Gerard
Manley Hopkins also use language in order to further the ideas of his time. While the Victorian
period was one of great scientific advancements, it was also a time when Christianity was a very
large part of people s lives. Hopkins uses solid, imposing words in order to enforce the concept
of God s strength, as seen early on in his poem, where he states that, [...] The world is charged
with the grandeur of God. It will flame out, like shining from shook foil; It gathers to a greatness,
like the ooze of oil [...] (Hopkins). The author furthers the power of God by downplaying the
strengths of mankind,

The Importance Of Dracula In Bram Stoker s Dracula
Dracula: The Victorian Vampire When you think of Dracula, do you think of the bloodstained
creature or the sophisticated stalker of the night that symbolizes the Victorian era? Dracula was a
gothic novel heavily influenced by the folklore of vampires of the past and Vlad the Impaler, a
strict ruler of Wallachia, leading to Draculas cruel mannerisms. Another large contributor to
Dracula was also the stern Victorian erastandards, the era in which Bram Stoker composed the
classic. Therefore, the women needed to be proper and well mannered while the men had a
more important place in society. People looked down upon those who disobeyed the laws at the
time like anyone who was scantily clad. Victorian ideas leaked their way into the literature.
Writers disguised ideas and themes that would not be classy, like sexual acts, by alluding to
them with more appropriate actions. Consequently, these influences led Stoker to insert many
characteristics of the Victorian era into the novel s setting of London. Since the Victorian ideas
were put into the story, many fears that were instilled in the people of the time were
characterized in the novel. In Bram Stoker s seminal novel Dracula, the anxieties felt by the
Victorian people are shown by both the human characters and Dracula himself. First off, Jonathan
is introduced as an average solicitor going to Castle Transylvania and when he is trapped inside,
a secret side to him is revealed. After Jonathan is trapped by Dracula, he begins to deteriorate
mentally after realizing that he might never be freed from his imprisonment. After Dracula warns
him to not sleep elsewhere except his bedroom, Jonathan disobeys him and explores the castle,
stumbling into an ancient, abandoned room. After dozing off, he is awakened by three voluptuous
that emanate a dreadful aura. While still being in an exhausted mood, he describes the scene as
There was something about the m that made me uneasy, some longing and at the same time some
deadly fear. I felt in my heart a wicked, burning desire that they would kiss me with those red lips
(Stoker 39). Jonathan hints at a hidden desire for the women and wants for them to have their way
with him. This scene shows that Jonathan has deep repressed

Kudler Fine Foods Frequent Buyer Program James L. Lewellen BSA/310 June 17, 2013
Thomas Potts Kudler Fine Foods Frequent Buyer Program The intent behind the development
of Kudler Fine Foods Frequent Buyer Program is to increase the level of customer loyalty. The
system will be broken down into two different levels; the frequency of a buyers shopping with
Kudler Fine Foods and the amount of money that the buyer spends with each purchase. A
program like this is typically used as a marketing strategy that is enabled by point of sale
technology to record and store customer purchases in exchange for rewards (Appel, p. 156, 2006).

Financial Analysis This initial cost of the startup of this program will be a minimal impact on
Kudler Fine Foods. The initial advertisement effort will be done via social media; the companies
Facebook page and Twitter account, email and word of mouth. Allowing for a reward system
for costumer referrals can be used for current and new customers as the programs is employed
and continues to grow. Rajiv and bell argue customer retention costs are generally lower than
customer acquisition costs, companies are better of focusing attention on their more loyal
customers especially since the top 20% of customers account for 80% of revenues and often
more than 100% of profits (p. 180, 2003). Kudler Foods could reduce their marketing expenses
by using a customer loyalty system through the use of rewards. The sales increase from this
program should be reflected by the increase of new customers and the increased returning
customers increased spending. The use of seasonal promotions only available to costumers
enrolled into the frequent buyers program could also help in increased sales profits. Conclusion A
frequent shopper program can be a successful tool is used correctly by a company. The difficult
task will always be bringing in new costumers. This program should allow for the retention of
existing customers with Kudler Fine Foods. A rewards points system should be used for the

Literature Surrounding Vehicle Speed Reduction Techniques...
3.1 Introduction
This chapter critically assesses literature surrounding vehicle speed reduction techniques and shared
spaces. Developing a clear understanding of background literature provides a strong theoretical
foundation, and perspective to conduct an effective investigation with regard to how vehicle speed
and presence are crucial aspects as to whether or not a shared space is successful. Therefore, this
chapter will begin with an overview of the history and development of shared spaces followed by
vehicle speed in shared space, risk homeostasis theory, speed reduction techniques, horizontal traffic
deflections techniques, and entrances and surfaces.
3.2 The History Development of Shared Spaces
Ben Hamilton Baillie, an architect in the United Kingdom coined the term shared space, however,
the original design and concept is accredited to Hans Monderman, a Dutch traffic engineer who
invented the term Woonerf in Netherlands, 1970 (Ben Joseph, 1995). However, there are many
examples today of shared spaces throughout Australasia, Europe, the UK and the United States.
Historic evidence states that streets has been a place of interaction, movement and activity. When
cars were firstly introduced, the road corridors were still a place to walk, move, and play.
However, in the mid twentieth century motor vehicles become more popular, where two concepts
arose to dominate road design:
The most key role of a road is to accommodate efficient movement and fast journey for

Catcher In The Rye Vs. Don Quixote Essay
J.D. Salinger s TheCatcher in the Rye can be compared to Cervantes Don Quixote. Both novels
feature naive protagonists pining for an ideal world. In Salinger s novel, Holden Caulfield is a
sixteen year old who experiences challenging and questionable events in the mid stage of his
adolescence. Holden wants to protect the innocent children like the catcher in the rye from the
immorality and corruptness of the phony adult world. In Cervantes work, Don Quixoteis the
idealistic protagonist who sets out to transform the world in accordance to his medieval vision. His
growing obsession with stories of knighthood and books of chivalry leads him to abandon his former
life and become a wandering knight set out to right the world s wrongs.... Show more content on

As Holden was walking up the stairs he sees fuck you written on the wall and rubs it off with his
hand. Then, later as he is going down a different staircase he sees the same phrase on the wall, but
this time scratched in with a knife so he can t efface it. At that moment, he thought that there would
be millions of signs just like that one in the world. There was no way he could eradicate all of
them. Even in the peace of the Egyptian tomb room at the museum there is a fuck you written in
crayon. At this point, he is hopeless and realizes that his dreams are unattainable.
In the carousel scene with Phoebe Holden reluctantly accepts the fact that everyone loses his or
her innocence. While on the carousel, Phoebe joins the other kids in trying to grab for the gold
rings. Although Holden is afraid that she will fall off the horse, he realizes that he can t stop her.
He states, The thing is with kids is; if they want to grab for the gold ring, you have to let them do
it and not say anything. If they fall off, they fall off, but it s bad if you say anything to them.
Similarly, Cervantes Don Quixote portrays an idealistic protagonist who sets out to transform the
world in accordance to his medieval vision. The novel opens by briefly describing the main
character s fascination with chivralic stories. He dreams for the way things were in the times of
knights and the code of chivalry. Even though he lived in the Renaissance Era, he decided to turn

Analysis of The Decline of the West
The subject of capitalism is one very thoroughly discussed, and opinions are wide spread. Some
believe it to be the root of all evil, while others merely choose to see it as an inevitable part of
progress, one we might as well enjoy. After all, has living not become much easier since, say, the
beginning of the industrialised age? Everyone can afford materialistic goods and no one is forced
to starve. The question is, however, whether it is too good to be true, and recently, with the deep
financial crises, many have come to face the fact that everything, even capitalismitself, comes with
a price. Mike, a hardworking father of two, and the main character of Hanif Kureishi s short story

The title reflects this as well. By The Decline of the West he refers not to the economy or the
financial crash, but to the emotional decline of individuals and the way family is becoming
secondary to money and the next piece of technology. As the author is the son of a Pakistani father,
this observation and focus on the lessening importance with which family relations are viewed, is
not surprising; in Pakistan and many other Middle Eastern countries, family is of much
importance, and to be close knit is considered not only normal, but expected. It would be only
natural if Hanif Kureishi has been influenced by his father, and the short story is without a doubt

Handoff In Cellular Systems Essay
Handoff in Cellular Systems Submitted By: Parveen kumar(15MT ECE008) Priyanka(15MT
ECE010) Garima(15MT ECE003) Abstract The Mobility in wireless cellular communication
systems is its backbone so as to enhance the quality of service and maintain the continuous service.
Handoff is an important task in maintaining the continuity of call in cellular systems and its failure
can result in ongoing call termination. So handoffs are necessary for providing an enhanced QoS
(Quality of Service) to users and provide a ubiquitous coverage. In order to successfully implement
the handoff process, the system designers make a proper optimum signal level at which point
handoff will initiate. During the handoff process some parameters like relative signal strength,
relative signal strength with threshold, relative signal strength with hysteresis and relative signal
strength with hysteresis and threshold are to be considered carefully. So this paper shows the brief
description about the different handoff techniques in cellular systems moreover it compares all the
handoff strategies on the basis of execution time, S/I ratio, RSS (Relative Signal Strength), call
handling difficulty, handoff made and generation

Who Is Lily s Objectification In The House Of Mirth
Despite their untruthfulness, they still make a large impact on the lives of the aristocracy.
People treat them like truth, which causes them to almost become a truth themselves. The myths
of the aristocracy make a large impact on the lives they define, usually in a negative way. They
make their victims feel confined to these myths even if they are positive. They create an
environment where everyone treats these people like the myths, which they inhabit. The myth
becomes more human than the actual person. The myths arise from one small fact then
speculation and assumption come and transform the fib into reality. One of the most significant
myths in the novel is the idea that Lily is an object. It follows her where ever she goes in her
society and warps people s actions directed towards her. In The House of Mirth by Edith
Wharton the myth of Lily being an object makes people treat her like a decoration or a prize to
be won instead of an actual human being, which causes Lily to have the skills of an object and the
soul of a being.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even before Lily walked amongst the living, the aristocracy treated women more like objects than
people. A women s value came from her beauty and how well she entertained the folk around her,
not personality traits. The more beautiful the woman, the more valuable she became, and worse she
was treated. Instead of being viewed as merely another beautiful painting in an exhibit, they became
the star attraction. Society put more pressure on them to act like decorative beings than other
women, and men treat them like prizes or trophies. These ideas of women traveled from one
generation to the next with parents teaching their children how women should act and how to
determine a woman s value. Then here comes Lily into this world. A natural beauty, she has to be

Examples Of Quebec Referendum Of 1995
English and French Canadians have had years of disagreements and the Quebec Referendum of
1995 proves how separate both really are. The Quebec Referendum of 1995 was the second
referendum to ask voters in the province of Quebec whether or not Quebec should declare national
sovereignty and become an independent country. The QuebecReferendum of 1995 was a defining
moment in Canadian History that emphasized the disunity between Quebec and the rest of Canada.
With the alienation of QuГ©bec, the Parti Quebecois advocating for national sovereignty, and
Lucien Bouchard taking over the leadership of the Yes side from Parizeau causing the Yes side to
get momentum, are all examples of how this historic event emphasized the disunity between
Quebec and the rest of Canada.

contributed to the poisoned atmosphere following the debate over distinct society, which brought
the separatist group Parti Quebecois back into power. The PQ returned in the 1994 Quebec
election under Jacques Parizeau, he believed that this might be the last opportunity for sovereignty
for the foreseeable future. The Parti Quebecois advocated for national sovereignty, a world where
Quebec is an independent country. They were heavily supported in the beginning, but the Yes votes
dropped. Ultimately, Lucien Bouchard took over the leadership of the Parti Quebecois which
resulted in the Yes sides votes increasing. People were naturally influence about separatism which
led them to believe that being disunited and disassociated with Canada would be better for Quebec.

Gerburt Des Monicakinds Poem Analysis
Grammar can be defined as a linguistic system that exists in the mind of a speaker of a language,
a written description of a language, and an abstract notation of an ideal set of rules (of correct or
proper grammar) which can be encoded in a handbook (Studies in English Grammar Handbook,
pg.7). Monica Ferrell s, Of the Irresoubleness of Diamonds, Harmless, As Recalled by a Fairy
Tale, Gerburt des Monicakinds, and Beautiful Funeral each employ four different grammatical
issues one of them being the known new contract. By incorporating these grammatical issues
into her work, Ferrell intends to develop a clear and sharp image to ignite the imagination of her
readers. The poems Of the Irresoubleness of Diamonds, Harmless, As Recalled by a Fairy Tale,
Gerburt des Monicakinds and Beautiful Funeral were written by poet and novelist Monica
Ferrell. Monica Ferrell was born in New Dehli. She earned her BA from Harvard University and
MFA from Columbia University (Poetry Foundation). Ferrell discusses the role of uncertainty in
her poems. She states, I m trying to let something that wants to come into being do so poetry as
uncovering, rather than invention or rhetoric, and a form of devotion and service . (Poetry
Foundation). By using several grammar techniques Ferrell paints a bright image for her readers to
ponder upon. Ferrell is an atypical poem and uses a variety of forms to convey her simple and
lyrical tone throughout them. One of the reasons that

Essay on 18th Century, Period of Enlightenment
The Enlightenment took place during the 18th century and was defined as man s leaving his self
caused immaturity. A popular motto took place: dare to know. It was a period of questioning and
appliance of reasoning to explore many subjects often left untouched. People were leaving behind
their past and advocating the use of scientific method instead of unproven beliefs on religion. The
Enlightenment takes its name from those who wanted to contribute to a brighter future and society.
Different paths were taken in order to make this period possible. The intellectuals didn t

People were beginning to compare themselves and realized the similarities or differences that
shaped their society.
A last important trait for the inspiration of the Enlightenment came from two men. Isaac Newton
and John Locke. Newton was known as a genius and made a great deal at instructing his personal
rules to later uncover natural laws governing politics, economics, religion, arts, etc. His concept
was recognized as the Newtonian world machine. Locke tried to prove that humans were all born
plain and acquired their notions of life through nurture instead of nature. He believed people could
change and adopt new attitudes to create an improved society.
Taken together, these philosophers offered a possibility for a brave new world.
The leading figures of the Enlightenment were known as philosophers; they were literary people,
professors, journalists, statesmen, and social reformers above all. They emerged from various
social classes though most were French. They helped shape the culture in France and most
importantly, Paris, but their movement soon spread across Europe and to the West. Although they
had different backgrounds, they all shared a common point which was to discuss and attempt to
change the world. Philosophers relied on scientific methods to explain events and applied rational
criticism on all their works. A few dominant men left us with lasting impressions.

  • 2. Analysis of an Affair in Anton ChekhovВґs The Lady with the... Anna and Dmitri are two people with a strong desire to be together, but this is conflicted by reality. Their reality is that they are married to other people. The love that they share for one another represents the struggle that one may face wanting to break away from reality. Dmitri was a man who had been unfaithful to his wife quite often. Her imperfections seemed to be his only reasoning for this. Dmitri was most likely only in Yalta to look for a new woman to have an affair with. Considering this, being with Anna didn t bother him. He was introduced in the story as a rather selfish man who seemed to just have his way with Anna. He referred to women as an inferior race , due to his past experience. Anna, on the other hand, was new to the idea of being unfaithful to her husband. This scared her so even though she knew that she loved Dmitri, she convinced herself that it was not real lovethat they shared. Throughout the story, both Anna and Dmitri changed the way they felt about their lives. Dmitri seemed to have had a very superficial relationship with his wife, and this made him appreciate his relationship with Anna even more. Once he spots her, the scenery in the story begins to shape. It is full of beautiful colors and light. The more exciting his life became in Yalta with Anna, the more dull and uninteresting his life back home became. His thoughts portray to the reader that he believes Anna is the perfect contender for an affair. The author of the story, Chekov, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dependent Variable: inventory Source: own spss computation, 2017 According to the finding in the above table the regression equation was Y = 1.381+ 0.168 X1 + 0.389 X2+ 0.636X3 + 0.304X4 Where Y is the dependent variable (effectiveness of inventory management), X1 is procurement procedure, X2 is Funding, X3 is the staff skill X4 is Documentation. The strength of each predictor (independent) variable influence on the dependent variable can be investigated via standardized Beta coefficient. Hence, the regression coefficient explain the average amount of change in dependent variable that caused by a unit of change in the independent variable. Therefore, as shown the table above fund is the most contributing factor in the prediction of effectiveness of inventory management in Este woreda public sector with beta value 0.359 followed by a staff skill with the beta value of 0.287. Brazil is one of the biggest recipients of refugees in Latin America, with former Justice Minister EugГЄnio AragГЈo saying in June 2016, given the financial circumstances, that Brazil could take up to 100,000 refugees, 20,000 per year. The nationof Brazil has several reasons for accepting refugees into the country. With the acceptance of refugees, from both areas, Brazil increases the nation s international reputation within the community. Additionally, the nation of Brazil is in need of skilled workers, and refugees offer a solution to the resettlement problem, and fills this need the nation of Brazil has. Refugees offer a way for the nation of Brazil to boost its economy, and increase innovation within the country. As the Nation of Brazil s economy is in turmoil, the refugees could offer a solution to the economic problems, as they could boost the economy. Why Was The Automobile Important In America The Automobile played a big part in the way people go to place to place and it also played a part in the economy and the rapid growth in the United States in the twentieth century. With the higher incomes, it meant that people had money to spend on cars and goods. The inventing of the automobile was the greatest thing people have come up with because know that is the only way people get around these days. People during this time mainly lived on farms and did not have a fast way to get into town. So people started moving to the cities because more jobs were available and over all better lives. One of the very most known highways in the United States is Route 66 that connects the Midwest and southern California. With cars in being in high demand business started wanting products to be sent to other places. During the 1900 s when millions of people left their home to live in the city in the United States also provided immigrants and other minority groups jobs at assembly lines and other specialized jobs. In the 1920 s the U.S. government became more involved with making the roads matter to connect t major cities. • 7. The Effect Of Nitrogen On The Growth Of A Sapling Essay Introduction Nitrogen is an essential nutrient for plant growth, being a key component in the process of photosynthesis and is a part of the chlorophyll molecule. Nitrogen acts to increase the amount of the green chlorophyll in plant leaves which allows them to absorb the optimum amount of sunlight by increasing the surface area of leaves to hold the chlorophyll and optimum amounts of nitrogen in a plant allow it to produce enough foliage in order for it to successfully photosynthesise efficiently, therefore producing the right energy it needs to function. I am interested to see how the levels of nitrogen in the young saplings, measured from the leaves of randomly chosen plants, affects the rate at which they grow around the radius of their trunks and whether there is a significant relationship between the two. I would expect that certain levels of nitrogen are the most optimal for the growth of a sapling where enough is present to allow the most efficient production of photosynthesis in its leaves as the energy produced in this process would allow growth throughout the rest of the plant. At very low levels I could expect growth rates of saplings to be very slow or not at all and as the nitrogen levels in a sapling s leaves increases for the growth rate to increase to a certain extent. There would however be likely a point where an increase in nitrogen levels does not mean a higher growth rate as too much can be detrimental to other components in a sapling s health, ... At a very young age Mr. Lafayette became a very wealthy orphan after his parents passing; his father at two years old and mother at twelve. When the young wealthy orphan turned fourteen years of age he decided he would join the Royal Army and at the age of 16 married into one of the wealthiest families in France marrying Marie Adrienne Francoise de Noailles. When he turned eighteen years old he found himself at a dinner where he met the Duke of Gloucester who spoke with much compassion regarding the trials the colonies were facing. Hoping to keep his plans a secret from the King whom he knows would be completely against his plans; Mr. Lafayette reveals to a close friend Comte de Broglie his plans of a better life far away in the United States. After learning of his friend s plans to travel to the Americas Comte de Broglie introduced Mr. Lafayette to the Baron Johan De Kalb who also had travel plans to the U.S. and after delays and a few written agreements from Silas Deane with promises they would be commissioned major generals they set off across the Atlantic. Social classes and gender roles played bigger pivotal roles during the urbanization of the United States during the earlier parts of the 20th century than ethnicity, in my opinion. Women began to obtain more working roles in the industrialized America and middle class women tried to lessen the burden of being in the working class or God forbid being worse and being poor immigrant. They did this by opening settlement houses such as the Hull House and others like it where newly arriving immigrants could get food and water and basic necessities to transitioning into society in a new country. Varicella Pneumonia is known to occur in approximately 1/400 cases with adults with chickenpox. Likewise, the risk factors of Varicella Pneumonia is smoking which provides substantial evidence in order to form the diagnosis. The patient had then undergone seven days of intravenous acyclovir associated with Varicella. The treatment was successful which might hint that if the patient were to be given early RX, then it may modify the natural course of this complication. Conclusions: In retrospect, Varicella Pneumonia still remains to be a dangerous complication that still kills thousands, however, if accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment were to be made, then patients would have a greater chance to overcome the illness. Yet, survival still depends on the recognized risk factors. • 12. What Happens If You Expose Individuals To Web Pages Essay What happens if you expose individuals to web pages for short periods of time? First impressions of web pages are important to HCI developers as they have been shown as powerful in a variety of contexts which include studying personal character attributes. There has been multiple research and experiments where individuals were exposed to web pages for 50 milliseconds and how individuals formed an opinion of web pages. Notably the works of Lindgaard et al 2006 this study is where the participants were exposed to a website twice when viewing the website for only 50 milliseconds. The study showed that individuals can form a reliable first impression whilst only viewing the website for 50 milliseconds. Within the second study conducted by... Furthermore, the research showed us that the relationship between visual appealing ratings fell below par for twenty two participants for the first and second phase. There was a high correlation between visual appeal and other characteristics such as the participants noted the web pages were boring, good design, bad design, bad colour etc... However, there was a rather low correlation amongst visual appeal, simple complex and a reasonable correlation amongst attractiveness and clear confusing judgements. By only viewing web pages for 50 milliseconds individuals can form a first impression. The study of and analysing aesthetic scopes of web page design and how design affects attractiveness is vital for HCI designers which will enable them to implement and produce a suitable system for users which meets their requirements. It is imperative that the HCI designer takes into consideration the necessary factors related to attractiveness and unattractiveness of websites. It is imperative that the design of the website must include technical and low level aspects making sure that it interacts with each other. There has been research relating to design concepts. France system is and inquisitorial system where part of the court is actively involved in investigating the facts. • 14. Background Of An Authorised Firearms Officer Chapter 1 Background When an authorised firearms officer in the police is involved in a shooting, procedures and guidelines are firmly incorporated to ensure that investigations are thoroughly carried out. However, most police officers in England and Wales will never possess a firearm, face a gun or discharge one as this supports the ideology that police officers in England and Wales have no desire to carry a firearm routinely (Rostker, 2008, p. 78) It is not a common occurrence for a weapon to be discharged in any firearms incident in England and Wales, for example if a firearm is discharged following an alert, over half the rounds fired are believed to miss their intended target and of those people hit by a round, more than half survive (Punch, 2011, p. 1). A similar situation also exists in the United Statesof America. The United States are viewed in the Western society as extreme in relation to weapons and violence because of its high police response rates to its widespread strong gun culture (Crank, 1998, p. 152). The United States will be introduced as a comparator to this research as it is already highly compared to other societies where the sale of weapons and its regulation is minimal, with only local law enforcement agencies setting the policy with no national policing system. A report released in 2012 by the Federal Bureau of Investigation stated that 410 Americans were lawfully killed by the police with only one victim unarmed (2013). However, during ... All of the kids gathered in the big playroom that morning, when their parents dropped them off. So, her teacher was not able to explain one of the scratches on her face. The first strategy that I would recommend would be to incorporate Julianna within the Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) meetings. I know that it would be a challenge for a 2 year old to sit through the whole entire meeting, so I would have her present for the first five minutes, at the beginning of the meeting and then would have her sent back to play with her classmates. This would help to make her aware of the fact that her teacher and I do communicate regarding her academic and behavioral performance. It may also make her aware of the fact that her behavior is being recorded/kept track of and will not be tolerated. This strategy will allow her to work on listening to other people s opinions and self respect. Another strategy that could be used is for her teacher to make note of her behavior on her daily classroom report form that is sent home with her each day. This can be reviewed by Julianna s parents and with Julianna at home, so that she knows that her parents know what is going on at school. Time out is another strategy that should be incorporated within the classroom setting. This will not only help to immediately address the inappropriate behavior, but it will also help Julianna to work on her listening skills and allow her time to think about what she ... • 16. The Murder Of James Byrd The murder of James Byrd, the Howard Beach incident, and the shooting in Ferguson are some of the most infamous racially motivated hate crimes. But, one of the most important things to note is the violent uproar each of these events caused within the African American community. In the novel Frankenstein, Mary Shelley illuminates the effects of racial prejudice by emphasizing the Creature s shift in character as he is continually rejected by society, the DeLacey s, and his creator. Similarly to modern day racism, the Creature s hatred towards mankind is fueled by his desire for acceptance. He is forced into the archetype of The Monster; initially good, turned against the world by the absence of love in his life. Ordinary humans are unable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This ignorance breeds fear and hatred in the human race causing the creature to lash out against humanity, in fear of being rejected and tormented. Personality and appearance are two very different things; human beings need to distinguish that fact. This same discrimination appears in today s society, it may not be as prominent as it was in Mary Shelley s time, nevertheless, it still occurs. This fear and rejection of the Creature is seen not only in the different people the Monster encounters throughout his travels, but also in his creator. Frankenstein is unable to stand the sight of the creature stating, its unearthly ugliness rendered it almost too horrible for human eyes (Shelley 95). Frankenstein s rejection causes the Creature to accuse Frankenstein of abandonment: you had endowed me with perceptions and passions, and then cast me abroad an object for the scorn and horror of mankind (Shelley 141). The Creature says that he is Frankenstein s obligation and it is Frankenstein s responsibility to be his essential caretaker. That s not surprising as one of them was a real war, country against country, while the other one was a terroristic organization against the government. However both events, The Blitz and the IRA attacks had one important thing in common: Both wanted to frighten the citizens of London. • 21. Amy Efaw The book After, written by Amy Efaw, is an addictive, action packed book. The fiction story is about a girl named Devon Sky Davenport who was pregnant, but in denial. She wakes up one morning, sick, and stays home from school that day. That night, she gives birth at home by herself, and throws the baby in the trash after putting it in a garbage bag. Devon goes to jail where she makes friends and has to cooperate with her lawyer. Devon can t remember anything from the night when she gave birth but as things start clicking into place, Devon realizes what she has done, and starts having suicidal thoughts. Devon must tell her lawyer the details, although it is hard, so she can be tried in a juvenile court and only get 5 years, but if she doesn t... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The author uses a great deal of detail when describing characters. For example, the author wrote, Yellow...yellow. The color of Devon s mom s hair. The color of a sun breaking through the flat gray clouds. Of a lemon drop. Devon allows her eyes to droop closed for a moment. I can distinctly imagine the appearance of the characters because the author uses the detail that he does. The plot of this book moves quickly because she starts to remember things from That Night from flashbacks that happen often. The text reads, She steps slightly closer to him, lets her shoulder brush his arm as they walk hand in hand. Lets her hip bump into his. Once. Then. Twice.... The author uses plenty of imagery when describing places and people. For example, the author wrote, Devon s eyes skim over the room s three rectangular tables and finds that vacant seat indicated. It s beside the pale girl with the breads. The girl scoots her chair back to make room for Devon, presenting the seat with an open hand, her crooked smile creeping back over her face. The author s tone in this book is stressful, and outraged. An example from the story includes, No! Get out of here! Devon s mom lunges at the man, grabbing his shoulders from behind, her long nails digging into his jacket. Get the hell out of here! Are you hearing me? The other man, the one in the uniform, appears suddenly, pulling Devon s mom off of the first man. The theme of this story is displacement. Devon is a girl who gets good grades, is involved in sports, and gets her work done on time. She is not someone you would expect to be in jail, and she is so much different from her peers in jail. I can apply this lesson in my life because if I am ever in a place where I feel uncomfortable and out of place, I know that it will end soon. This lesson will make a change in my future ... We wake up at specific times to go about our days and then we sit down at our dining room tables to eat at specified times throughout the day, usually habitually. But, humanity hasn t always been this algorithmic. It wasn t until the advent of the mechanical clock that our lives began to mold around time. We changed. I would like to assume that we became more productive because of this change. However, humanity historically hasn t perceived change as good. In Sherry Turkle s The Flight from Conversation she negatively asserts that technology has changed the way we socialize and communicate by sacrificing conversation for our mere connection to each other through technology and allowing that connection to replace the former. In the same vein, Nicholas Carr s Is Google Making Us Stupid? establishes the idea that technology has altered the way we critically read and think for the worse. As the title of his article suggests, Google (more broadly the internet) has simplified our reading style, and in turn is making us stupid . I choose to defy both these notions. Technology hasn t become the catalyst for a society where we lose the ability to have social connections or critically read and think. Rather, humans have adapted to change through the use of technology as a new way of thinking, reading, connecting, and socializing in attempt to become more productive and efficient. • 24. What Is The Role Of Corruption In Animal Farm The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out for himself , from H.L. Mencken. Animalism, in Animal Farm by George Orwell, promises everything you could desire in a society: abundance in the things you need, equality, and less labor. Animal Farm is about a farm on which the animals believe that they are not being treated fairly, so they all decide to revolt against their farmer and create, what they think to be, a perfect society, called Animalism. Animalism in the book drew parallels to socialism in the Soviet Union in the 1940s. Unfortunately, like the Soviet Union, Animalism becomes corrupt because of tyrants at the top who lead the government, in this case, pigs. Slowly, but surely the socialist like... Ultimately, these choices have the largest effect in helping the pig s rise to power. Having been in a corrupt country before, to see family, I see many parallels between the dogs and the military in African countries. In Kenya, instead of the military working to enforce the laws, more often they work to promote fear, in order to keep the corrupt government in place. For fear tactics, every time you see a police officer they have a large gun strapped to the front of his or her chest. They sometimes ignore people who are being robbed and take bribes from criminals who are trying to not get caught. From Animal Farm, I have learned numerous lessons, but one of the most important is that a good society needs checks and balances when it comes to the military. If they are not checks and balances in place, there can be a pooling of power which results in corruption like what we see in Animal Farm. Secondly, in order to be a good citizen in a Democratic Republic make the choice that you know is right, instead of the most attractive choice, or else you can end up being part of the problem like the dogs. All in all, try to make your set up your society in a way to avoid a pooling of power and try to make it better every chance you get by making the decision that you know is ... Alive is a creative nonfiction novel written in 1974 by Piers Paul Read, which documents the events in 1972 when a plane carrying 45 passengers crashed in the Andes. This natural instinct to protect one s self interest actually is a positive force in the world. • 37. Segmented Polyurethanes Can Be Represented By Three Basic... Segmented polyurethanes can be represented by three basic components in the following general form: P (D(CD)n P)n Where P is the polyol, D is the diisocyanate and C is the chain extender. Polyol, or the so called soft segment, is an oligomeric macromonomer comprising a soft flexible chain terminated by hydroxyl ( OH) groups. The chain extender is usually a small molecule with either hydroxyl, or amine end groups. The diisocyanate is a low molecular weight compound that can react with either the polyol or chain extender, leading to the interesting segmented structure. In linear polyurethanes, the three components have a functionality of two. If a branched or crosslinked material is desired, multifunctional polyols, isocyanates, and sometimes chain extenders can be incorporated into the formulation. Due to the statistical nature of the copolymerization, polyurethanes have both a distribution in total molecular weight and adistribution in the hard segment sequence length, those copolymer sequences denoted as D(CD)n, that follow essentially a most probable distribution. The principle chemical reaction involved in the synthesis of polyurethanes is the urethane forming reaction, i.e., the reaction between isocyanate and hydroxyl groups. Because this is a nucleophilic addition reaction, it is catalyzed by basic compounds such as tertiary amines and by metal compounds such as organotin. Urethane formation is actually an equilibrium reaction; the presence of catalyst therefore ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Comparing And Differences Of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart And... Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Giuseppe Verdi both wrote exquisite Requiems. Since Mozart lived in the Classical era, and Verdi lived in the Romantic era, their compositions were written almost one hundred years apart. Though there are similarities in their pieces they differ in many ways. In Salzburg, Austria, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozartwas born on January 27, 1756. Wolfgang was the only son of Leopold and Maria Pertl Mozart to survive. Wolfgang began learning about music when he was three years old, watching his sister Nannerl play the keyboard. He was a musical prodigy, composing his first piece at 5, and beginning tours with his father at 6 years old. When Wolfgang turned 13, his father took him to Italy to show off this young boy s talents. Before Mozart turned 21, he was appointed to be assistant concertmaster. It was at this time that he wrote his first opera. Mozart left on another tour in 1777, and then returned to Salzburg to be a court organist. He soon decided he was not so fond of this position, and resigned to become a freelance musician in Vienna. When he moved to Vienna, he married Constanze Weber, against his father s wishes. Wolfgang lived in luxury during the beginning of his life in Vienna, he was producing popular operas. Soon, though, he began to lack money, and took loans that would leave him in debt for the rest of his life. • 41. How Does Glycolysis Affect Yeast Fermentation Abstract Sugars catabolize (break down) through the process of glycolysis. Glycolysis causes the sugar to undergo fermentation, which yields CO2. In this experiment, different sugar solutions were mixed with a yeast solution in order to see how fast and if they react to produce CO2. The yeast solution caused the sugar solutions to undergo glycolysis and produce CO2. Glucose syrup, White sugar, Artificial Sweetener all yielded CO2, yet Corn flour did not. Introduction The purpose behind this experiment is to identify a correlation between the production of CO2 when yeast is exposed to water and heat. Yeast being fungi requires nutrients (sugar/carbohydrates), water, heat and oxygen to grow and survive like most other living organism. As a bi product of its growth the fungi should produce CO2. The experiment involves testing 3 different forms of sugars and 1 type of flour to show how yeast reacts with each under the correct conditions, then measuring the amount of gas produced. Fiction and nonfiction alike will give its readers a glimpse of the lives of those of varying social statuses, along with the culture and politics of the time. This remains true regardless of the period in which a work was written. From the Romantic era to the 20th Century, literature has been skilled at providing understanding of others and their lives. For example, from the Romantic period works like the two William Wordsworthpoems I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud and The World is Too Much with Us, along with A Red, Red Rose by Robert Burns. Language can mean a number of things in regards to literature, it can refer to the slang that is used, the way that the author phrased a sentence, or even the dialect that the work is written in. Authors like Robert Burns, Gerard Manley Hopkins, and W.H. Auden in particular make use of language in the first two ways mentioned as a way of reflecting their respective time periods. Robert Burn s A Red, Red Rose is a poem that makes perfect use of language in order to display the thoughts of the author, which in turn displays the general thoughts of the time as well as his own location. A Red, Red Rose is a rather romantic poem, and considering the era in which it was written makes it fairly obvious that other authors of the time were discussing similar subjects. When discussing the beauty of his love, Burn s use of language which talks of how, [...] fair art thou, my bonnie lass [...] sort of automatically puts the reader in a mindset that can better understand his life (Burns). Couple the more archaic way of writing with the dialect of the author, which is put on display in his goodbyes to his love in the lines, [...] And fare thee weel, my only luve! And fare thee weel awhile! And I will come again, my luve [...] (Burns). God s Grandeur by Gerard Manley Hopkins also use language in order to further the ideas of his time. While the Victorian period was one of great scientific advancements, it was also a time when Christianity was a very large part of people s lives. Hopkins uses solid, imposing words in order to enforce the concept of God s strength, as seen early on in his poem, where he states that, [...] The world is charged with the grandeur of God. • 43. The Importance Of Dracula In Bram Stoker s Dracula Dracula: The Victorian Vampire When you think of Dracula, do you think of the bloodstained creature or the sophisticated stalker of the night that symbolizes the Victorian era? Dracula was a gothic novel heavily influenced by the folklore of vampires of the past and Vlad the Impaler, a strict ruler of Wallachia, leading to Draculas cruel mannerisms. Another large contributor to Dracula was also the stern Victorian erastandards, the era in which Bram Stoker composed the classic. Therefore, the women needed to be proper and well mannered while the men had a more important place in society. People looked down upon those who disobeyed the laws at the time like anyone who was scantily clad. Victorian ideas leaked their way into the literature. Writers disguised ideas and themes that would not be classy, like sexual acts, by alluding to them with more appropriate actions. Consequently, these influences led Stoker to insert many characteristics of the Victorian era into the novel s setting of London. Since the Victorian ideas were put into the story, many fears that were instilled in the people of the time were characterized in the novel. In Bram Stoker s seminal novel Dracula, the anxieties felt by the Victorian people are shown by both the human characters and Dracula himself. First off, Jonathan is introduced as an average solicitor going to Castle Transylvania and when he is trapped inside, a secret side to him is revealed. After Jonathan is trapped by Dracula, he begins to deteriorate mentally after realizing that he might never be freed from his imprisonment. After Dracula warns him to not sleep elsewhere except his bedroom, Jonathan disobeys him and explores the castle, stumbling into an ancient, abandoned room. After dozing off, he is awakened by three voluptuous that emanate a dreadful aura. While still being in an exhausted mood, he describes the scene as There was something about the m that made me uneasy, some longing and at the same time some deadly fear. I felt in my heart a wicked, burning desire that they would kiss me with those red lips (Stoker 39). Jonathan hints at a hidden desire for the women and wants for them to have their way with him. Handoff In Cellular Systems Essay Handoff in Cellular Systems Submitted By: Parveen kumar(15MT ECE008) Priyanka(15MT ECE010) Garima(15MT ECE003) Abstract The Mobility in wireless cellular communication systems is its backbone so as to enhance the quality of service and maintain the continuous service. Handoff is an important task in maintaining the continuity of call in cellular systems and its failure can result in ongoing call termination. So handoffs are necessary for providing an enhanced QoS (Quality of Service) to users and provide a ubiquitous coverage. In order to successfully implement the handoff process, the system designers make a proper optimum signal level at which point handoff will initiate. During the handoff process some parameters like relative signal strength, relative signal strength with threshold, relative signal strength with hysteresis and relative signal strength with hysteresis and threshold are to be considered carefully. So this paper shows the brief description about the different handoff techniques in cellular systems moreover it compares all the handoff strategies on the basis of execution time, S/I ratio, RSS (Relative Signal Strength), call handling difficulty, handoff made and generation ... Monica Ferrell s, Of the Irresoubleness of Diamonds, Harmless, As Recalled by a Fairy Tale, Gerburt des Monicakinds, and Beautiful Funeral each employ four different grammatical issues one of them being the known new contract.
