Bad Credit Car Loan
If you have bad credit, getting a loan for a car or any kind of loan presents a problem. There are
companies that offer bad credit car loans for people who have filed for bankruptcy, have slow pay
history or other severe credit problems.
The majority of Internet sites that offer to give you a bad credit car loan are really just loan mills
that collect your information and sell it third party loan companies that specialize in bad credit car
loans.
These companies that advertise bad credit car loans are not in the position to approve your
application or get you a car. The application that you complete online arrives at their data center.
They send this information to several dealerships that offer bad credit car loans. If you apply online

Consumer Price Index
Consumer Price Index
EC 601 Fall 2010
December 3, 2010
Consumer Price Index (CPI) According to Mankiw the Consumer Price Index is a measure of the
overall cost of the goods and services bought by a typical consumer. The Department of Labor s
subordinate branch the Bureau of Labor who is in charge of providing the Consumer Price Index of
states that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) is a measure of the average change over time in the
prices paid by urban consumers for a market basket of consumer goods and services. Some
background into how the Consumer Price Index came about. The Consumer Price Index was

If a consumer buys one product over another because of a price hike in the first product, chain
weighted figures will capture this buying shift, while Core CPI will not (Barnes, n.d.). Core CPI
will continue measuring the price of the good as it rises, regardless of whether fewer people are
purchasing the product (Barnes, n.d.). The CPI represents all goods and services purchased for
consumption by the reference population (U or W) BLS has classified all expenditure items

Essay on Integration in Major League Baseball
When asked to describe a baseball the first word generally voiced is white, and before April 15,
1947 that is exactly what the game of baseball was, white. There is no law against Negroes
playing with white teams, or whites with colored clubs, but neither has invited the other for the
obvious reason they prefer to draw their talent from their own ranks ( 42 ). These were the
feelings of people living in 1947, that blacks and whites were not meant to play baseballtogether.
Then, why decades earlier, had there been an African American in the league? In 1887, an African
American Pitcher, George Stovey, was expected to pitch a game with Chicago, however, the first
baseman, Cap Anson, would not play as long as Stovey was on the field. Other... Show more content

Through all this Robinson still showed to be the team s most valuable player, securing not only his
future, but other African American players like Larry Doby.
Larry Doby was the second African American player in the mlb and the first in the American
League. Doby was signed, with the Cleveland Indians in 1947 (Editors), the same year as Jackie
Robinson. Like Robinson, Doby was excluded from many segregated hotels and restaurants
frequented by teammates, received numerous death threats (Editors). Doby faced the same
circumstances as Jackie Robinson, but Robinson already had so much publicity that Doby was
mostly overlooked at the time.
Jackie Robinson and Larry Doby were very determined to stick with the game they loved and to
make a change. Thanks to their performance both on and off the ball field, other owners began to
seek talented black players, and by 1952, there were 150 black players in organized baseball
(Branch). Their actions had repercussions far beyond the sports world (Jim). The integration of
baseball was an enormous smack in the face to all of segregation. Many racial barriers quickly
tumbled down with the integration of baseball; restaurants, hotels, and stores removed their white
only signs bringing blacks and whites together. Robinson and Doby could not have won the battle
against segregation on their own, the press helped to make their struggle to be known throughout
the country.

Psycho-American War
The Russo Japanese war began on February 8th, 1904 when the Japanese launched a surprise attack
on the Russian fleet and ended September 5th, 1905 with the treaty of Portsmouth led by Theodore
Roosevelt. The war had a substantial effect on both of its participants, the Russians and the
Japanese, but first this essay will talk about the events leading up to it, such as the Russian
encroachment. In 1898 the Chinese and Russians finally negotiated a convention after three months
by which china would lease to Russia Port Arthur in Talianwan, a tremendously strategic point
which would be Russia s sole warm water port on the coast of the pacific, and its surrounding
waters. Immediately after their agreement, Russia took no time in occupying the Port. A year later,
Russia began to build the southern Manchurian railroad to further consolidate their position at Port
Arthur. The building of the railroad led to be one of the causes of the Boxer rebellion. Because of
the Boxer rebellion, the uprising of a secret organization in china against the spread of western and
Japanese influence there, the Russians and Japanese had both contributed troops along with Britain,
Austria Hungary, The United States, India, Germany, France, and Italy to quell the uprisings and to

Introduction on Leadership of Nelson Mandela Nelson Mandela was the first Black President of
South Africa that helped end
Apartheid in South Africa. As stated, his political activity started when the apartheid policy of
racial segregation won the elections (Nelson Mandela Leadership 2015). When he began to realize
nonviolence would not suffice, he resorted to guerrilla warfare to achieve his means.
As stated, United States deemed Mandela as a terrorist and refused him entry (Nelson Mandela
Leadership 2015). Nelson Mandela demonstrated The Five Practices Exemplary Leadership by
Kouzes and Posner which are the best leadership experiences (Kouzes and Posner 2007, 14).
Background of Nelson Mandela The history of Nelson Mandela states, after being on the run for
17 months, he was captured and imprisoned for 27 years, and he was released on February 11,
1990 (Nelson

No government in the Middle East wanted the Arab Spring to succeed. The Arab Spring were grass
root protest s that citizens of multiple Middle Eastern countries involved themselves to reform their
own governments. From North Africa to the Gulf States, there were yells for reform and a more
representative governmentby the people. These reforms for the most part failed, some countries
received full regime change like Egypt, others got lucky and held moderate reform (Morocco), and
others like the gulf state that had the resources, paid their citizen s to not protest. In the worst case
there was war and violence, the most prevalent of which have been in Libya, Iraq, and Syria. There
have been multiple disputes as to why, in particular, these

Penny Lab Essay
In this lab we will be heating up substances and use them to galvanize pennies. When you heat up
the zinc, and then coat the penny in it, it then galvanizes the penny. Meaning, it helps protect the
penny from oxygen and water. Afterwards, you will need to record data such as the mass of the
penny. This helps keep track of what physical traits are being changed during this experiment. On
part B of this experiment, you will be heating up the now galvanized pennies in order to see what
reaction you get. The reaction you should receive from heating up the now zinccovered pennies is
that the pennies will change color.
In metallic bonding, the reason it is so good at conducting heat and electricity, is the electrons are
loosely held in the atom. Also, the structural pattern of metals is hexagonal close packing
(Francis, E . . .). Metallic bonds are when the electrons are shared and are able to move and how C
models show that. The idea of the electrons being able to move, delocalized electrons, helps
produce its characteristics like conductivity and malleability, etc. (Anderson . . .). In a redox
reaction, oxidation and reduction happens. Also you can t have reduction happening without
oxidation also happening along with it. Redox reactions oxidation is the loss of electrons
and
reduction is the gain of electrons (Redox . . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Iron not only needs water, but also oxygen in order to form rust. (Rusting . . .). Galvanizing
involves coating corrosive metals with a non corrosive metal, which not only protects from
corrosion of soft metals but also adds strength of the original, uncoated metal. Hot dipping is one
way of galvanizing, which is when you dip a metal into hot melted zinc (What . . .). When the
metal is dipped into the melted zinc, it creates a protective shell around the metal and keeps it from
rusting away from oxygen and

The Hour Of Reckoning Analysis
The Hour of Reckoning
In the chapter The Hour of Reckoning from Let the Trumpet Sound: The Life of Martin Luther
King, Jr., author Stephen B. Oates goes into great detail on King s view of the Vietnam War that
occurred in 1967, which led into his probable presidency. On the evening of April 04, 1967,
Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered a speech to a crowd of 3,000 at Riverside Church in New York
that spoke against the war in Vietnam. He called the war immoral and felt as if he couldn t continue
to remain silent because as a believer of non violence, he couldn t undertake equal rights and peace
amongst humanity, when the government thought violence was the answer in Vietnam. Due to
King being anti war, his relationship with the president at the time, Lyndon Johnson had ended.
After his speech it caused uproar in the United States and Martin Luther King, Jr. then became
known as the most hated man in the nation, regardless of his nonviolence approach. ... Show more

young white graduate student stopped him in his path and pleaded that he was the most important
man and politically, he was the most meaningful that could possibly bring change to the people.

Petersel On Peds
Zach Petersel, in his essay, Here s Why Suspensions Won t Deter PED users Like Maria
Sharapova, claims that the risk and rewards of using performing enhancing drugs (PEDs) is
unbalanced and needs to change. He adopts a slight angry tone in order to appeal that big name
athletes caught using PEDs don t face major consequences. He uses this tone to appeal to readers
who might also want change in this topic. This feature should be printed in The Shorthorn because
it will prompt students to look at this issue in a deeper sense and see exactly how important this
issue affects an individual and sport. In this essay, I will talk about how Petersel talked about
Sharapova use of PEDs, how Petersel responds to counterarguments, and how athletes should be
punished for using PEDs.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(2) A incremental change is very small when compared to a rapid exponential change. He contends
that athletes will continue to take PEDs until they are caught. That was the case of Maria Sharapova
. She began taking Meldonium, a PED, before it was banned and continued to use it afterwards
until she got caught for using it. Petersel believes that the suspensions are lousy way to punish
athletes taking dangerous PEDs while they acknowledge the consequences. Throughout his
piece, Petersel uses many reasons to support his claim and evidences to support his reasons. In
the third paragraph, he uses logical appeals by informing that suspensions don t affect the life of
an athlete as it should for taking a PED. He includes that Sharapova made about 30 million last
year and she only lost some sponsors. She already has a business called, Sugarpova, which sells
candies and expects revenue of 20 million by 2018. He includes visual pieces throughout his
article to keep the reader engaged in the writing. In this part Petersel included a picture of
Sharapova holding a Sugarpova candy. Furthermore, he discusses Sharapova case of using
Meldonium. In

Developmental Disorders And Working Memory
Memory, specifically working memory, is an extremely influential concept. Within the last 30 years,
it has guided a great quality of empirical investigations that contribute to the understanding of
developmental and adult cognition. This paper will focus specifically on developmental disorders
and working memory along with contributing factors. Memory plays a fundamental role in the
learningprocess, which is necessary for both long term and short term. For writing processes, it
becomes necessary to recover lexical elements phonological or indirectly, and by visual
orthographic means, generating recall of previously acquired knowledge, such as graphemes,
phonemes, or words, and store them through memory. Therefore, memory is required for active...

The Human Need For Realistic Representations
When photographs and film were first invented it was seen as a means for capturing reality.
They would replace paintings in the role of capturing reality, due to the ability to capture
pictures in real time. In class we discussed about the idea that artists may choose to omit a part of
a portrait that is not representative of the person being depicted (such as a random strand of hair
standing up). Additionally, a random ray of light may draw attention to something in the real
world that may also not be of great importance to the person in question. These same problems
are things that can arise in movies and rather than having the viewer interpret and figure out what
is being shown, the director can take on these responsibilities through the use of camera angles,
multiple cuts, editing, artificial lighting, and the use of professional actors who can portray the
director s vision of the characters. Bazin identifies cinema as the human need for realistic
representations. Bazin is a believer in realism and explains the elements of realism consisting of
long takes, deep focus, limited editing, and the use of non professional or relatively unknown
actors (De Sica, Metteur En Scene, p.65). Though realism does have its place in filmmaking, it
would fail to take advantage of the artistic gifts and skills of the director to show what he envisions
the filmto be. After considering both sides carefully, I have come to the conclusion that the
formalist approach to filmmaking is

Essay about Product Life Cycle Analysis For The Apple Ipod
The alarm clock rings and its time to go for a jog and get the morning routine off to a good start.
After my morning jog I take a shower while listening to my favorite high energy time to wake up
music. The weather channel says it is going to be a rainy morning, so I grab my umbrella and
head for the door. During the car ride I toggle between the news and my French audio lessons. All
of these events are done through the use of a little device that seems to be everywhere you look.
For the past years we have seen how APPLE Computers Inc. has not only introduced the Ipodinto
the market for music players, but created the new must have pop icon. The following is a brief

All of which create similar players that incorporate design and functionality. Although some of
these are household names none has been able to dethrone the iPod from being the icon for
digital jukeboxes. The first casualty that fell to the iPod was the iRiver Rio that could not
compete with the loyalty people have for Apple. Part of the iPod secret is the iTunes software.
This is a platform where you can download music into your iPod and organize the files. It offers a
library of over three million songs from very diverse genres of music. Others have tried to
mimic this concept but have not been able to create the following that iPod has. An example of
these failed ventures is the Sone Connect store which is attempting to offer Sony s MiniDisc
player as an alternative to Apple s iPod. Even Wal Mart, Amazon.com and Tower Records are
also seeking a piece of the action by selling individual songs for a cheaper price than iTunes by
adding these retailers the market is growing and becoming more and more competitive. It can be a
safe assumption that Apple s iTunes internet downloadable music will partly replace the traditional
channels through which music had been distributed in the past. It is evident that since its
emergence into the market this little monster has gobbled up the market share of digital music
gadgets. Apple has been able to directly penetrate the market and enable a quick adoption for the
iPod.

Duck Commander Duck Outsourcing Strategy
Some of the most profitable companies have collapsed due to their failure to respond to changes in
the market. What started as a family business making duck calls has expanded into hunting
accessories, specialty foods, apparel, dvds, books, and speaking engagements for the Robertsons
and Duck Commander. It is no longer viable for the Robertson family, and the extended family of
staff, to handcraft each duck call on site at the current and projected rate of demand. Standard
industry practice is to outsource non strategic functions while retaining in house the company s
core value functions. Other companies attempts to keep their core value functions in house have
not yielded success. Our team has compiled data on these companies to show you how we have
derived our strategic plan for outsourcing. E E understands the unique challenge faced in
outsourcing Duck Commander duck calls with the same business values that were and always will

How I Have Made And Are Seeking Advice
I have heard that you regret the choices you have made and are seeking advice. I would like to
reassure you that I am here to help you. I know something wonderful that can help you find peace
and heal you personally as well as your damaged relationship with God and the community.
When people sin, they turn away and disobey God. They are choosing their own way instead of
remaining faithful to God. When a person sins, it creates a separation between the community, God
and the person. Whenever someone sins it hurts and affects the community of believers. When we
sin, we damage our ability to experience God s love and to live fully with a freed conscience. Our
actions have a ripple effect that affects the whole community. This means that we... Show more

Over all, the Church has developed formal rituals that address the needs of people to be reconciled
with God and the church.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation calls for repentance and conversion of heart. This means, turning
away from sin and bad choices and turn towards God and others. Through this sacrament, members
of the Catholic Church can continue to experience God s mercy and forgiveness and are reconciled
with God, themselves and the church community. Catholics believe that through Reconciliation
they receive the grace and power from God to turn away from evil and turn to a new way of
being. Reconciliation celebrates the conversion to a new way of living. The new relationship
between self, God and community. All of us will at some point in our life need reconciliation with
people and sometimes even with ourselves. For Christians, it is also important to reconcile with
God. We all experience times when we need forgiveness for how we have behaved but it must
begin with a change of heart.
Before you go to the Sacrament of Reconciliation it is important to understand what will happen.
Going to confession is a concrete sign that we are sorry for our sin and shows that we are ready to
do something about changing our behaviour. When going to Confession, there is two main people
involved: the penitent, who is seeking forgiveness and the priest, who is absolving you of your
sins. The priest does not forgive sins

Metaphors In The Ox Bow Incident
Metaphors
Lynch mob
After the news of the rustling of Drew s cattle and the murder of one of the rancher, Kinkaid, the
mob gets infuriated and decides to catch the culprit and hence, do justice. Though, aware of the
consequences of such posse, they agree to be a part of it because now they had someone to blame
on if something went wrong. There were people in the posse who opposed the lynching but any way
went ahead with due to the fear of rejection form the society or because they lacked the conscious
to keep a check on such an act.
Lynch mob as a literal concept is self evident. Clark uses the mob as a form of criticism against the
lynching that occurred in 1870 s to 1960 s in the southern United States against the African
American citizens. He also uses it to symbolise the corruption and the power play of the white in

He feels that law and justice are important to sustain a society and they must reflect the moral
conscience of the individuals. Conclusion The novel, The Ox Bow Incident, can be read at many
levels.
At one level, it deals with the inadequacies of the law in addressing to the question of justice and
at the same time highlights the importance of the law in a society as even in presence of
inadequacies, law is needed as it is better than a state of lawlessness.
Another interesting view put forth is that justice may not necessarily mean taking revenge and
punishing those who go against the society but it means that in doing so, the innocent must not
suffer and that every accused must be given an opportunity to fair trial and fair procedure in
determination of their guilt.
It also deals with the questions of morality and psychology of a person who assumes the position
of the judge while offering to judge the innocence or guilt of the accused and how the final holding
is affected by the subjective conscience of the

The Development And Maintenance Of Civilization Essay
Over the course of human history, order within society, through its many facets, has been
considered to be a vital part of the development and maintenance of civilization. One such aspect
of order, however, is arguably more important than all other characteristics: the creation and usage
of social constructs. A social construct is defined as a social mechanism, phenomenon, or category
created and developed by society, which aids in either the development or regression of society as
a whole. While more commonly known constructs such as race and gendershape the mindsets of
societies and civilizations as a whole over periods of time, the consequences of the existence of the
construct itself can have both a positive or negative affect. Additionally, many social constructs are
interconnected with each other, not exactly through topic matter but rather by the relationships and
connections they establish with aspects of society and its influence upon it. However, race and
gender are not the only constructs that shape mindsets and opinions, many lesser known ones also
affect changes within society. Such examples include the constructs of higher educationand gender
bias, two seemingly different aspects of society and ideals. However, although they do not
explicitly mention each other, Linda Lee and Anne Fausto Sterling establish a clear connection
between the two, especially in their dealings with societal development in their respective essays

Neil Jacobstein s Analysis
Neil Jacobstein, an AI expert who has consulted on projects for the U.S. military, GM, and Ford,
has thought of a solution for AI becoming too powerful, or superintelligent. Deep learning is a
part of AI created to help it accomplish tasks on their own. But if AI starts to learn on its own,
there is the fear of the Terminator style robot emerging down the road. As AI becomes more
powerful, there is the question of making sure we are monitoring its objectives at it understands
them, Jacobstein said. However, he did propose a solution: A control system to shut AI down. If
something does go wrong, and in most systems it occasionally does, how quickly can we get the
system back on track? That s often by having multiple redundant pathways for establishing
control, he said (Muoio). Another way we can make sure AI does not go haywire is by
programming Isaac Asimov s laws of robotics into AI. The three laws are: a robot may not injure
a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm; a robot must obey
orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law; a
robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or
Second Law. A lot of rules can be loopholed out of, but these laws do not... Show more content on

Roper Park Case Study
It appears the trailer at Roper Park may be heading for the dump instead of the airport. The triple
wide trailer had served as the previous Boys and Girls headquarters in Roper Park and earlier
this year appeared destined to become a base at the airport. But slow work and rain may have
sidetracked the project. The ramshackle mess now sitting between the baseball fields looks like
something hit by a tornado with piles of wood, plenty of exposed nails, sheet of tin and other
debris piled around it. A Progress reporter and photographer accompanied Airport Manager Randy
Thomason on an inspection of the partially disassembled trailer Tuesday and the prospect of it
being salvageable looked slim with water soaking interior carpets, ceilings and... Show more content

Thomason said below $20,000 it made sense, but at $75,000 or more, other options were
financially more practical. Both Thomason and Jones said the low bidder, Shannon s Mobile

the external roof, porches and stairs, they appear to have quit and the project stalled with the
roof removed, allowing rain to damage the interior. Jones said the trailer had originally been
slated for demolition and money paid to the contractor for removing the roof, stairs and porches
would have had to be done regardless of where the trailer winds up. We were originally planning
to haul it to the dump [before the airport authority expressed interest], Jones said in a phone

airport if we are going to have to deal with mold or other issues. If it is determined that the trailer
is no longer worth moving, the county will still face a substantial chore in demolition and cleaning
the site in the center of the park. But Jones noted demolition and clean up was the original plan so
they are basically back to where they started. In other

Learning Disabled Students With Learning Disabilities Essay
A learning disabled student not only suffers from being below average in academics, but in many
cases these students suffer with mental illnesses. Students with learning disabilities have lower self
determination in academics and struggle in post secondary education (Jameson, 2007). Higher
levels of anxiety and test taking anxiety can additionally be found in students with learning
disabilities (Nelson, Lindstrom, Foels, 2015). Studies also show that students with learning
disabilities have a higher rate of depression (Ashraf, Najam, 2015). Why are learning disabled
individuals struggling with self worth? The extreme social pressures everyone faces daily has a
negative affect students with learning disabilities. Students with learning disabilities are self
conscious of their impairment. Schools should not only focus on giving extra academic assistances
to students with learning disabilities, but also give resources to help fight mental illness in these
students. Students who have learning disabilities should not suffer from low self determination,
anxiety, and depression. There will be discussion on why these students suffer at a higher rate from
mental illness, and discuss a solution to this issue.Social pressure is a feeling that every human
being has experienced. Humans are naturally social, and be it consciously or subconsciously, all
humans want to fit it. Social pressures come in many forms, such as peer pressure, socioeconomic
pressure, and academic pressure.

Hester Prynne
D.H. Lawrence, an English novelist and literary critic, pens his essay On the Scarlet Letter
critiquing the novel The Scarlet Letter and its portrayal of American society. Lawrence argues that
Hester Prynne, the novel s protagonist, is not a victim, but rather, the product of evil and sin in
American society. D.H. Lawrence is effective in portraying his harsh perception on Hester Prynne
by the use of clever diction, thoughtful allusions, and choppy syntax. The clever diction utilized
by Lawrence in his essay aid in achieving his purpose as a writer. D.H. Lawrence begins his
critique by introducing his cynical perspective that the greatest triumph a woman can have,
especially an American woman is seducing a man, especially if he is pure (Lawrence). This
hyperbole helps to better communicate Lawrence s view of Prynne throughout his analysis of her
character. By making such a controversial and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lawrence s selection of choppy syntax communicates his stance on Hester Prynne. Through concise
alliteration, such as Adulteress! The great Alpha. Alpha! Adulteress! The new Adam and Adama!
American! , Lawrence demonstrate that Hester is not a worthy woman, but rather a poison to the
society she surrounds herself with (Lawrence). The repetition of referencing Hester as an
adulteress emphasizes the consequences of her sinful actions, which Lawrence wants to highlight
for the reader. Additionally, describing Prynne as the alpha , and Adama connects her back to Eve
in the Garden of Eden, who was the first human being to sin. In short, Lawrence wants to expand
on the presence of Hester s sin and its grip on her life. D.H. Lawrence continues this broken syntax
as he writes, Flop. Flop goes spiritual love (Lawrence). This onomatopoeia is a distinct contrast with
the previous passage that Lawrence writes which is lengthy and substantive. Prynne s choppy,
shortsighted, sinful path becomes the trajectory for which Lawrence parallels in his writing

The American Dream Of An Unbiased Judicial, Executive, And...
Many Americans have the good fortune to be brought up believing that they can trust their
governmental system. Unfortunately, the American Dream of an unbiased judicial, executive, and
legislative branch cannot be equally accessed by all Americans. Some parents find it is necessary
to dispel the myth of the American Dream for their children, to protect their young minds from
future mental strife and in some cases to protect their bodies from future physical harm. This is a
reality in our country today. In the increasingly tense political and social environment corruption
festers and bad politics reign. While the situation may seem hopeless, it is important to realize that
the struggle to ensure equal rights for all has been a cause that countless people have been
committed to throughout the history of our country. They have dreamt and continue to dream of a
better future, one in which race and economic status do not define a child s potential. People have
been fighting for equal treatment since nearly the founding of the nation first to end slavery, then
to stop the legal and social practice of segregation. While discovering its point of origin is unlikely,
it is possible to examine the time frame which saw the struggle for equality fully developed into the
Civil Rights Movement. The movement reached its peak in the 1950s and 1960s with significant
figures like Martin Luther King Jr., Bayard Rustin, and Thurgood Marshal. Contemporary with the

Merkel was born in Hamburg, Germany to a Lutheran pastor father and a Latin and English teacher

necessity in the East patience, blandness, intellectual rigor and an inconspicuous but ferocious drive
and changed not only her life but the course of history (Vick).
Merkel became involved in politics as a youth, joining Germany s Young Pioneers and Free

Naughton Thesis Statement
Thesis Statement: Naughton s overall goal in this article was for the audience to consider both
sides of the argument and create their own belief upon the matter by using rhetorical choices such
as appealing to expert opinions, statistics used in a poll, the tone and advanced diction.
Quote 1: Although there is much still to understand about the brain, the impact of the internet has
helped us to learn new ways of measuring its organization as a network. It has also begun to show
us that the human brain probably does not represent some unique pinnacle of complexity but may

Analysis 1: I will use this in my first body paragraph as a example of the rhetorical choice appeal

majority of the article and the overall rhetorical choice used by Naughton is the use of different
opinions of experts and writers to strength the article s credibility. Naughton displays the statements

How far do you agree that the Qing Dynasty fell mainly because of the humiliation of China at the

The Qing Dynasty fell apart in the 19th after flourishing throughout the 18th century. Like many
complicated systems, it grew brittle and inflexible. It could not adjust as new problems arose. Bad
harvests, warfare, rebellions, overpopulation, economic disasters, and foreign imperialism
contributed to the dynasty s collapse. The qing rulers were themselves foreign as they were not

The Qing Dynasty had experience a very prosperous period. But at the middle of the Chien Lung
years, there were both internal problems and external invasion. And let s see how these problems
became the symptoms of decline of this former great country. The administrative inefficiency was
a serious problem causing the Qing government to collapse. Since the emperor of the Qing
government held a suspicion feeling on the officials, so he set up many restrictions, checks and
regulations on them. Gradually the officials thought the less responsibility the less risk they will
face. This really hinders the administration of the government. And there was nobody wants to take
charge on important matters. So the decision had to be maked up by the emperor himself. But
after Chien Lung there was no great emperor. At this point you are probably wondering how on
Earth the Qing Dynasty lasted this long after all the wars and rebellions. And by this time it
seemed as if China did not have much say in what went on in its own territories. Communism was
clearly not working for China. Sun Yat Sen realized this and he attempted to do something about
it. He came close to death to try and make his dream of China becoming a Republic a reality. In the
1890 s he formed a secret, anti Qing society and by 1895 there was a price for his head in China
forcing him to have to leave the country. His dream was to see China become a Republic and to

Theme Of Women In Mrs Dalloway
Virginia Woolf s Mrs. Dalloway tells the story of a middle aged, upper class woman, Clarissa
Dalloway, on a single June day in 1923, who plans a house party. However, Woolf s novel also
traces the story lines of multiple characters, concentrating on their mental states and internal
beliefs. Woolf s novel depicts the impact of World War One and a male dominated society on the
lives of individuals, specifically females. Through the inclusion of primary female characters,
such as Clarissa and Sally, Woolf centralizes an exploration of the emotions the female characters
experience in the novel. Floral imagery abounds to help Woolf develop the connection between
female characters and their routine experiences in English society. In Mrs. Dalloway, Woolf
conveys floral imagery as a dual symbol of both the feminine liberated identity and the
systematic oppression of women in post war English society, through an analysis of female
characters. Woolf s use of floral imagery helps portray the freedom that female characters desire
and experience in their daily London lives. In the first line of the novel, the narrator notes that,
Mrs. Dalloway said she would buy the flowers herself (Woolf, 1). From the start, Clarissa
conveys her desire to experience freedom with the ability to make her own decisions and perform
simple tasks herself . She initially surpasses the low expectations of women in the English society,
using flowers as a tool to combat the oppression. In choosing to buy the

Prescriptive English Essay
Linguists and other scholars who study language do not take prescriptive grammar rules
seriously. To them, understanding the meaning and function of words is more important than
correction. They belief that language is not an empirical fact and that it is not universal, there
are hundreds of dialects in a language which means that there are hundreds of grammars as well.
There is also no scientific validation that can be done on prescriptive grammar. The majority of
what native speakers know about their language wasn t taught to them explicitly but in an
implicit way through the communicative teaching approach which is a more natural way of
speaking and has more to do with whether the message the speaker tries to convey is
understood. One example of this is a very common one; a person says Can I use the bathroom?
which is grammatically wrong because of course he/she can, but the question should be May I
use the bathroom? which is asking for permission. If both of the questions are meant to be
understood in the same way by the person who is asking it and the person who is listening, why
should it be wrong? Some examples of popular, enduring prescriptive rules in English are that a
person shouldn t split infinitives, for example: He decided to quickly leave the room you should
say he decided quickly to leave the room. You shouldn t end a sentence with a preposition, for
example: which student did you talk to? you should say: To which student did you talk? Knowing

The Main Provisions Of The 1944 Education Act And 1988...
The 20th century saw more changes to education than the thousand years preceding it. This was
largely in response to a recently industrialised country; with newly acquired voting rights, it became
apparent that education should not be only for elites. Education is a crucial element of social
mobility and it is important we fully understand both the positive and negative aspects of previous
legislation to help us plan for the future. The were two major 20th century pieces of legislation:
1944 Education Act and 1988 Education Reform Act. Both brought with them changes that are still
being felt today. This essay will cover those Acts in detail, along with other sizable changes such as

The ramifications of Butler s failure to separate church and schooling and further pandering by all
subsequent ministers can still be witnessed today. The church s influence on teaching on subjects
evolution has forced the requirement of a law to ban creationism being taught (BHA, 2014). It has
also come to light that many faith schools teach a very narrow worldview pertaining of just their
own beliefs (NSS, 2015).
Furthermore the school age was raised to 15 in 1947, with secondary education beginning at 11.
Though the lack of funding and teaching costs meant this took a long time to fully implement as
the act stated it should be raised to 16 as soon as feasibly possible but this did not happen until 1972.
Other changes included free milk and meals, clothing grants as well as transport to and from
schools. As families would normally expect children to be working by the age of 13 14 these
measures ensured there was not too high a financial burden on parents. Giddard (2011) argues that
although there were many problems with the 1944 Act its redeeming features were forward looking
and progressive.
Few debates in education have been given more time than grammar schools. Though not a part of
the 1944 Act the tripartite system was based on a report by the Norward committee (1943); which
made recommendations based on the pseudoscience notion of there being three types of mind:

its outcomes; it includes work that is rationally, physically, socially or ethically perilous and
destructive to children, and meddles with their educating. UNICEF characterizes child work as
work that surpasses a base number of hours, contingent upon the age of a child and on the sort of

The Potential Of The Five Factor Personality Model
MG4C2: Organizational Behavior
The potential of the Five Factor personality model to predict employee performance has been
overestimated. Discuss.
Personality can be defined as the qualities that make a person s unique character. The Five Factor
personality model is described as a hierarchical organization of personality traits in terms of 5
dimensions (McCrae and John, 2005) that can be used to describe personality. These Big Five
factors are Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness and Neuroticism (Costa and
McCrae, 1992). Each of these factors contains several sub factors that aid in identifying the overall
dimension. For example, for conscientiousness, primary indicators include self discipline,
dutifulness and achievement striving (McCrae and John, 2005). Employee performance can be
defined as the completion or accomplishment of a task against pre set goals or targets.
Several studies have considered the relationship between personality and employee job
performance (Barrick, Mount and Judge, 2001). Research has shown consistent relationships
between FFM personality traits and employee work performance (Barrick, 2002). Dimensions
such as conscientiousness has been found to be one of the most valid predictors for job
performance after general intelligence (Hurtz and Donovan, 2000), whereas other dimensions such
as agreeableness where found not to be strongly related to sales performance (Barrick, 2002). FFM
model and other models that

Life in the Ghettos
Bodies of men, women, and children lay strewn in great disarray (Life in the ghettos 4 5). Others
lay mortally wounded, crying out for help, moaning with pain, with head wounds or limbs torn
from their bodies. The ghettos started in 1939 . During the holocaust, a ghetto was a special
section of a city in which Jewish people were forced to live . They Jewsin the ghettos were
identified by their yellow badges worn. Within the ghetto the lives of the people oscillated in the
desperate struggle between survival and death from disease or starvation. There were several
families living in one apartment, and the Germans would try to starve them to death. Life in the
ghettos was unbearable.

The waste was thrown out on the streets with all the trash (Life in the Ghettos). In addition, very
few people had access to water, which soon made them become filthy. Thus, it was hard to
prevent becoming diseased when living in such poor conditions. They all suffered endless
infections illness, vermin, infestation, dehydration, and low morale (Ghetto Life 30). Lacking
proper medication, the ghettos physicians did their very best administer aid to the people whose
symptoms were discovered earlier on. Even in the winter, heating was very scarce. Many froze in
to death. Having very few things to live off of, tens of thousands died in the ghettos from either
starvation, illness, or cold. However, all of these things did not stop them from being forced to work.
The Jews were forced to produce goods. Some Jews were accosted and ordered to work
whenever a specific organization required them, while others were working in workshops. More
than 10,000 Jews were working as carpenters, tailors, and shoemakers. Carpentry workshops
would produce new furniture from from timber taken from Jews homes (Work Within Ghettos).
On the other hand, in the fur work shop, workers made fur coats from garments also taken from
the Jews. In the Lodz ghetto, the adult population worked twelve hours a day. If a person was not
fit for work, he did not receive food tickets (Ghettos). That meant death by starvation. Over 75,000
people in the ghetto died of disease and

Las Vegas, seat of Clark County in southeast Nevada, is the largest city in the state and one of the
fastest growing cities in the United State.
Las Vegas has a favorable business climate: taxes are
relatively low, and there are neither city nor state income taxes. This is because gamblingand sales
taxes, paid by tourists, have allowed the city and state government to avoid personal and corporate
income taxes.
Las Vegas offers more than 310 days of sunshine per year as well as mild,
sunny winters and low humidity year round. The Las Vegas inland desert area is virtually free of

Battle Of Palmito Ranch Thesis
Have you ever been so passionate about something in life that no matter what, you didn t want to
see it end? I think that Commander Theodore H. Barrett had that same desire. In May of 1865,
Commander Theodore H. Barnett led troops into what is known as the last battle of the Civil
War. The Battle of Palmito Ranch did not impact the outcome of the Civil War; but it still made
history. This battle was led by a man who wasn t ready to see the Civil War end, a man who was
passionate about what he was fighting for. The Battle of Palmito Ranch was the last land action
battle of the Civil War. Both the Union and Confederate forces were aware of the surrender of
Robert E. Lee, just a few weeks before. On May 1, 1865 there was a steamer... Show more content

As the battle is being fought, ground is taken and ground is taken away. Many times in a battle
each side feels like they have the upper hand. This battle was no different from the rest of them.
Commander Theodore H. Barrett thought he had the upper hand many times. Many people claimed
he went into to this battle to see more action before the war ended. Despite the war coming to an
obvious end, he ordered for his troops to head out to Brownsville, Texas. He started The Battle of
Palmito Ranch with the upper hand, planning a surprise attack. The Confederates across the border
gave away their position, so Commander Barrett had no other choice than to retreat. The Union s
first expedition was successful. They got a few prisoners and some supplies, but they did not
achieve the desire of surprise. Later in the afternoon the Confederate forces counterattacked with
less than 100 cavalry. That drove the Union back into White s Ranch, where the fighting stop for
the night. The Confederates and the Union sent for reinforcements. The Union started to move
westward with skirmishes along the way. Where the Commander of the Union attacked and then
flanked them. Although it wasn t enough and the Confederates took the win for this

Jazz Messenger Art Blakey
In the same way as other admired jazz artists, the drummer Art Blakey held tight sufficiently long to
see his way to deal with music return into style.
A main drummer of the post World War II bop style exemplified by Charlie Parker, Blakey was
better known for his authority of his Jazz Messengers, one of the longest running and reliably
superb gatherings in jazz. The street to incredible status was twisting, in any case. Shunning the
vanguard, Blakey was overlooked by jazz faultfinders in the trial 1960s and disregarded by
American groups of onlookers in the 1970s, when rock applied its hegemonic control over the
matter of popular music. Not able to land a U.S. recording contract, he discharged various
collections for European names in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Putting aside his neo bop style, which he spearheaded, Blakey took in band individuals whose
tastes were unequivocally more pop than jazz. Throw Mangione s minimal known stay in the
Messengers trumpet seat was maybe a definitive impression of the breakdown in the social
concensus about the components of true jazz. Yet for Blakey afficianados, the 1970s have much to
offer, as another re issue from Fantasy Records illustrates. Mission Eternal contains two full
collections recorded by a heavenly Blakey band in March 1973 and initially discharged by the
Prestige mark under the titles of Buhaina and Athenagin. A cut underneath Blakey s best recordings
of the 1960s, these collections by and by demonstrate a familiarity with the cutting edge, a desire
for Latin beats and roused exhibitions by solid sidemen. Cedar Walton stays the gathering on piano
and contributes some solid organizations, outstandingly Mission Eternal. Carter Jefferson, an
innovative saxophonist who merits more extensive thankfulness, strikes a decent harmony between
constancy to models and the unavoidable quest for new sounds. His performance on Gertrude s
Bounce is brutish yet melodic. Vocalist Jon Hendricks, who joins the gathering on two cuts, is
hypnotizing on the jazz standard Moanin and spooky on Along Came

Depression And Substance Abuse
The occurrence or diagnosis of depression in relation to drug use or abuse presents itself as a bi
directional relationship. Meaning the onset of one of these factors (depression or already present
substance use) creates an equal opportunity for the consequence of another factor to appear. Both
depression and substance use and dependency have the potential to co habitat each other in a
comorbid state. Symptoms occurring with depression, especially if they are left untreated, are
shown to have increased rates of drug use potential while consistent substance use and abuse can
cause depressive symptoms. In examining each condition separately and in conjunction of one
another as well as a variety of different effects caused by substance use, treatment... Show more

In order to examine this relationship, substance abuse and addiction need to be understood on its
own first. Drug addictions contuse to persist on both a national and global level; it is also
significant to mention that such issues create a heavy burden on government and justice systems
that deal with them. In fact, 9% of Americans meet the diagnostic criteria for a substance abuse
disorder (6% for alcohol and 3% for illicit drugs), making it one of the most common chronic
diseases in the United States (Compton Change 2017). Such prevalence adds pressure to
government systems and taxpayers as they are, estimated to cost Americans more than $400 billion
annually: $224 billion for alcohol ($25 billion in health care) and $193 billion for illicit drugs ($11
billion in health care) (Compton and Chang 2017). Now, substance abuse or addiction are
considered, psychiatric illnesses with specific indicators [which include] a strong desire to use (or
craving), and [interruption of] life activities [which are] generally reduced to drug seeking, drug
using, and recovering from the effects of use (Compton Chang 2017) When an individual tries an
addictive substance like nicotine, alcohol, or other illicit drugs, it activates certain parts of the brain
which can induce, pleasurable feelings and, very strong memories that drive subsequent behaviors
to repeat the rewarding experience (Compton Change 2017). If such a drive continues to persist it
can transition into a habit and create a dependency on that substance. Now, likewise to treatments to
depression, those who suffer from substance abuse disorders also have a variety of treatment
options. These treatment options include long term and short term residential treatments (inpatient
and outpatient), individualized drug counseling, and group counseling (NIDA, n.d). With

What Are The Missteps In The Declaration Of Independence
An Analysis of The Declaration of Independence In the short span of thirteen years; how did the
American colonies go from loyal subjects of King George III, flush in they victory over the French
in the French and Indian War to becoming rebels capable of overthrowing the most powerful
government in the world? It was not one single factor that caused the colonies to rebel, but a
number of missteps by the smug and out of touch English government that caused the colonies to
declare their independence in July 1776. The first missteps that started the revolutionary wheels
turning happened when parliament enacted the Sugar Act in 1764 followed by the Stamp Act in
1765. In the wake of the French and Indian War, Britain had amassed a massive wartime debt.
Parliament thought it only fair and reasonable the colonies chip in to help pay some of the war
debt, considering the war was fought in their defense. Almost immediately the colonists pushed
back. The colonists felt without a colonial representative in Parliament the taxes were illegal....

Again too smug and out of touch with the politics and ideals of the colonies, Parliament decided to
give it another go at generating revenue from the colonies. This time parliament enacted the
Townsend Acts in 1767, placing themselves directly behind the colonial mules hind legs. Again the
colonists, fought back with protest and boycotting English goods. There were violent protest within
the colonies most notably in Boston, Massachusetts. Frustrated by the actions of the colonists, the
English government sent in troops to quell the violence and make the colonist submit and obey the
law. It was in response to the Townsend Acts that the Sons of Liberty organized, the Boston
Massacre erupted, the Committee of Correspondence was established and the East India Tea
Companies tea was dumped into Boston

  • 5. Essay on Integration in Major League Baseball When asked to describe a baseball the first word generally voiced is white, and before April 15, 1947 that is exactly what the game of baseball was, white. There is no law against Negroes playing with white teams, or whites with colored clubs, but neither has invited the other for the obvious reason they prefer to draw their talent from their own ranks ( 42 ). These were the feelings of people living in 1947, that blacks and whites were not meant to play baseballtogether. Then, why decades earlier, had there been an African American in the league? In 1887, an African American Pitcher, George Stovey, was expected to pitch a game with Chicago, however, the first baseman, Cap Anson, would not play as long as Stovey was on the field. Other... Larry Doby was the second African American player in the mlb and the first in the American League. Doby was signed, with the Cleveland Indians in 1947 (Editors), the same year as Jackie Robinson. Like Robinson, Doby was excluded from many segregated hotels and restaurants frequented by teammates, received numerous death threats (Editors). Doby faced the same circumstances as Jackie Robinson, but Robinson already had so much publicity that Doby was mostly overlooked at the time. Jackie Robinson and Larry Doby were very determined to stick with the game they loved and to make a change. Thanks to their performance both on and off the ball field, other owners began to seek talented black players, and by 1952, there were 150 black players in organized baseball (Branch). Their actions had repercussions far beyond the sports world (Jim). The integration of baseball was an enormous smack in the face to all of segregation. Many racial barriers quickly tumbled down with the integration of baseball; restaurants, hotels, and stores removed their white only signs bringing blacks and whites together. Robinson and Doby could not have won the battle against segregation on their own, the press helped to make their struggle to be known throughout the country. Psycho-American War The Russo Japanese war began on February 8th, 1904 when the Japanese launched a surprise attack on the Russian fleet and ended September 5th, 1905 with the treaty of Portsmouth led by Theodore Roosevelt. The war had a substantial effect on both of its participants, the Russians and the Japanese, but first this essay will talk about the events leading up to it, such as the Russian encroachment. In 1898 the Chinese and Russians finally negotiated a convention after three months by which china would lease to Russia Port Arthur in Talianwan, a tremendously strategic point which would be Russia s sole warm water port on the coast of the pacific, and its surrounding waters. Immediately after their agreement, Russia took no time in occupying the Port. A year later, Russia began to build the southern Manchurian railroad to further consolidate their position at Port Arthur. The building of the railroad led to be one of the causes of the Boxer rebellion. Because of the Boxer rebellion, the uprising of a secret organization in china against the spread of western and Japanese influence there, the Russians and Japanese had both contributed troops along with Britain, Austria Hungary, The United States, India, Germany, France, and Italy to quell the uprisings and to relieve the international ligations under siege in... Meaning, it helps protect the penny from oxygen and water. Afterwards, you will need to record data such as the mass of the penny. This helps keep track of what physical traits are being changed during this experiment. On part B of this experiment, you will be heating up the now galvanized pennies in order to see what reaction you get. The reaction you should receive from heating up the now zinccovered pennies is that the pennies will change color. In metallic bonding, the reason it is so good at conducting heat and electricity, is the electrons are loosely held in the atom. Also, the structural pattern of metals is hexagonal close packing (Francis, E . . .). Metallic bonds are when the electrons are shared and are able to move and how C models show that. The idea of the electrons being able to move, delocalized electrons, helps produce its characteristics like conductivity and malleability, etc. (Anderson . . .). On the evening of April 04, 1967, Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered a speech to a crowd of 3,000 at Riverside Church in New York that spoke against the war in Vietnam. He called the war immoral and felt as if he couldn t continue to remain silent because as a believer of non violence, he couldn t undertake equal rights and peace amongst humanity, when the government thought violence was the answer in Vietnam. Petersel believes that the suspensions are lousy way to punish athletes taking dangerous PEDs while they acknowledge the consequences. • 13. The Human Need For Realistic Representations When photographs and film were first invented it was seen as a means for capturing reality. They would replace paintings in the role of capturing reality, due to the ability to capture pictures in real time. In class we discussed about the idea that artists may choose to omit a part of a portrait that is not representative of the person being depicted (such as a random strand of hair standing up). Additionally, a random ray of light may draw attention to something in the real world that may also not be of great importance to the person in question. These same problems are things that can arise in movies and rather than having the viewer interpret and figure out what is being shown, the director can take on these responsibilities through the use of camera angles, multiple cuts, editing, artificial lighting, and the use of professional actors who can portray the director s vision of the characters. Bazin identifies cinema as the human need for realistic representations. Bazin is a believer in realism and explains the elements of realism consisting of long takes, deep focus, limited editing, and the use of non professional or relatively unknown actors (De Sica, Metteur En Scene, p.65). Though realism does have its place in filmmaking, it would fail to take advantage of the artistic gifts and skills of the director to show what he envisions the filmto be. • 22. The Development And Maintenance Of Civilization Essay Over the course of human history, order within society, through its many facets, has been considered to be a vital part of the development and maintenance of civilization. One such aspect of order, however, is arguably more important than all other characteristics: the creation and usage of social constructs. A social construct is defined as a social mechanism, phenomenon, or category created and developed by society, which aids in either the development or regression of society as a whole. While more commonly known constructs such as race and gendershape the mindsets of societies and civilizations as a whole over periods of time, the consequences of the existence of the construct itself can have both a positive or negative affect. Additionally, many social constructs are interconnected with each other, not exactly through topic matter but rather by the relationships and connections they establish with aspects of society and its influence upon it. However, race and gender are not the only constructs that shape mindsets and opinions, many lesser known ones also affect changes within society. Such examples include the constructs of higher educationand gender bias, two seemingly different aspects of society and ideals. However, although they do not explicitly mention each other, Linda Lee and Anne Fausto Sterling establish a clear connection between the two, especially in their dealings with societal development in their respective essays The Case Against College and ... • 23. Neil Jacobstein s Analysis Neil Jacobstein, an AI expert who has consulted on projects for the U.S. military, GM, and Ford, has thought of a solution for AI becoming too powerful, or superintelligent. Deep learning is a part of AI created to help it accomplish tasks on their own. But if AI starts to learn on its own, there is the fear of the Terminator style robot emerging down the road. As AI becomes more powerful, there is the question of making sure we are monitoring its objectives at it understands them, Jacobstein said. However, he did propose a solution: A control system to shut AI down. If something does go wrong, and in most systems it occasionally does, how quickly can we get the system back on track? That s often by having multiple redundant pathways for establishing control, he said (Muoio). Another way we can make sure AI does not go haywire is by programming Isaac Asimov s laws of robotics into AI. The three laws are: a robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm; a robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law; a robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law. The triple wide trailer had served as the previous Boys and Girls headquarters in Roper Park and earlier this year appeared destined to become a base at the airport. But slow work and rain may have sidetracked the project. The ramshackle mess now sitting between the baseball fields looks like something hit by a tornado with piles of wood, plenty of exposed nails, sheet of tin and other debris piled around it. But after removing the external roof, porches and stairs, they appear to have quit and the project stalled with the roof removed, allowing rain to damage the interior. Jones said the trailer had originally been slated for demolition and money paid to the contractor for removing the roof, stairs and porches would have had to be done regardless of where the trailer winds up. We were originally planning to haul it to the dump [before the airport authority expressed interest], Jones said in a phone interview Tuesday. So we are not out anything. There will be no use to have it hauled to the airport if we are going to have to deal with mold or other issues. • 25. Learning Disabled Students With Learning Disabilities Essay A learning disabled student not only suffers from being below average in academics, but in many cases these students suffer with mental illnesses. Students with learning disabilities have lower self determination in academics and struggle in post secondary education (Jameson, 2007). Higher levels of anxiety and test taking anxiety can additionally be found in students with learning disabilities (Nelson, Lindstrom, Foels, 2015). Studies also show that students with learning disabilities have a higher rate of depression (Ashraf, Najam, 2015). Why are learning disabled individuals struggling with self worth? The extreme social pressures everyone faces daily has a negative affect students with learning disabilities. Students with learning disabilities are self conscious of their impairment. Schools should not only focus on giving extra academic assistances to students with learning disabilities, but also give resources to help fight mental illness in these students. Students who have learning disabilities should not suffer from low self determination, anxiety, and depression. There will be discussion on why these students suffer at a higher rate from mental illness, and discuss a solution to this issue.Social pressure is a feeling that every human being has experienced. Lawrence argues that Hester Prynne, the novel s protagonist, is not a victim, but rather, the product of evil and sin in American society. D.H. Lawrence is effective in portraying his harsh perception on Hester Prynne by the use of clever diction, thoughtful allusions, and choppy syntax. The clever diction utilized by Lawrence in his essay aid in achieving his purpose as a writer. D.H. Lawrence begins his critique by introducing his cynical perspective that the greatest triumph a woman can have, especially an American woman is seducing a man, especially if he is pure (Lawrence). The repetition of referencing Hester as an adulteress emphasizes the consequences of her sinful actions, which Lawrence wants to highlight for the reader. Additionally, describing Prynne as the alpha , and Adama connects her back to Eve in the Garden of Eden, who was the first human being to sin. Unfortunately, the American Dream of an unbiased judicial, executive, and legislative branch cannot be equally accessed by all Americans. Some parents find it is necessary to dispel the myth of the American Dream for their children, to protect their young minds from future mental strife and in some cases to protect their bodies from future physical harm. This is a reality in our country today. In the increasingly tense political and social environment corruption festers and bad politics reign. While the situation may seem hopeless, it is important to realize that the struggle to ensure equal rights for all has been a cause that countless people have been committed to throughout the history of our country. They have dreamt and continue to dream of a better future, one in which race and economic status do not define a child s potential. People have been fighting for equal treatment since nearly the founding of the nation first to end slavery, then to stop the legal and social practice of segregation. While discovering its point of origin is unlikely, it is possible to examine the time frame which saw the struggle for equality fully developed into the Civil Rights Movement. However, Woolf s novel also traces the story lines of multiple characters, concentrating on their mental states and internal beliefs. Woolf s novel depicts the impact of World War One and a male dominated society on the lives of individuals, specifically females. Through the inclusion of primary female characters, such as Clarissa and Sally, Woolf centralizes an exploration of the emotions the female characters experience in the novel. Floral imagery abounds to help Woolf develop the connection between female characters and their routine experiences in English society. In Mrs. Dalloway, Woolf conveys floral imagery as a dual symbol of both the feminine liberated identity and the systematic oppression of women in post war English society, through an analysis of female characters. Woolf s use of floral imagery helps portray the freedom that female characters desire and experience in their daily London lives. In the first line of the novel, the narrator notes that, Mrs. Dalloway said she would buy the flowers herself (Woolf, 1). To them, understanding the meaning and function of words is more important than correction. They belief that language is not an empirical fact and that it is not universal, there are hundreds of dialects in a language which means that there are hundreds of grammars as well. There is also no scientific validation that can be done on prescriptive grammar. The majority of what native speakers know about their language wasn t taught to them explicitly but in an implicit way through the communicative teaching approach which is a more natural way of speaking and has more to do with whether the message the speaker tries to convey is understood. One example of this is a very common one; a person says Can I use the bathroom? which is grammatically wrong because of course he/she can, but the question should be May I use the bathroom? which is asking for permission. If both of the questions are meant to be understood in the same way by the person who is asking it and the person who is listening, why should it be wrong? Some examples of popular, enduring prescriptive rules in English are that a person shouldn t split infinitives, for example: He decided to quickly leave the room you should say he decided quickly to leave the room. You shouldn t end a sentence with a preposition, for example: which student did you talk to? you should say: To which student did you talk? Knowing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Five Factor personality model is described as a hierarchical organization of personality traits in terms of 5 dimensions (McCrae and John, 2005) that can be used to describe personality. These Big Five factors are Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness and Neuroticism (Costa and McCrae, 1992). Each of these factors contains several sub factors that aid in identifying the overall dimension. For example, for conscientiousness, primary indicators include self discipline, dutifulness and achievement striving (McCrae and John, 2005). Employee performance can be defined as the completion or accomplishment of a task against pre set goals or targets. Several studies have considered the relationship between personality and employee job performance (Barrick, Mount and Judge, 2001). Research has shown consistent relationships between FFM personality traits and employee work performance (Barrick, 2002). Dimensions such as conscientiousness has been found to be one of the most valid predictors for job performance after general intelligence (Hurtz and Donovan, 2000), whereas other dimensions such as agreeableness where found not to be strongly related to sales performance (Barrick, 2002). Others lay mortally wounded, crying out for help, moaning with pain, with head wounds or limbs torn from their bodies. The ghettos started in 1939 . During the holocaust, a ghetto was a special section of a city in which Jewish people were forced to live . They Jewsin the ghettos were identified by their yellow badges worn. Within the ghetto the lives of the people oscillated in the desperate struggle between survival and death from disease or starvation. Many froze in to death. Having very few things to live off of, tens of thousands died in the ghettos from either starvation, illness, or cold. However, all of these things did not stop them from being forced to work. The Jews were forced to produce goods. Some Jews were accosted and ordered to work whenever a specific organization required them, while others were working in workshops. More than 10,000 Jews were working as carpenters, tailors, and shoemakers. Carpentry workshops would produce new furniture from from timber taken from Jews homes (Work Within Ghettos). On the other hand, in the fur work shop, workers made fur coats from garments also taken from the Jews. In the Lodz ghetto, the adult population worked twelve hours a day. If a person was not fit for work, he did not receive food tickets (Ghettos). That meant death by starvation. Over 75,000 people in the ghetto died of disease and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Battle Of Palmito Ranch Thesis Have you ever been so passionate about something in life that no matter what, you didn t want to see it end? I think that Commander Theodore H. Barrett had that same desire. In May of 1865, Commander Theodore H. Barnett led troops into what is known as the last battle of the Civil War. The Battle of Palmito Ranch did not impact the outcome of the Civil War; but it still made history. This battle was led by a man who wasn t ready to see the Civil War end, a man who was passionate about what he was fighting for. The Battle of Palmito Ranch was the last land action battle of the Civil War. Both the Union and Confederate forces were aware of the surrender of Robert E. Lee, just a few weeks before. On May 1, 1865 there was a steamer... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the battle is being fought, ground is taken and ground is taken away. Many times in a battle each side feels like they have the upper hand. This battle was no different from the rest of them. Commander Theodore H. Barrett thought he had the upper hand many times. Many people claimed he went into to this battle to see more action before the war ended. Despite the war coming to an obvious end, he ordered for his troops to head out to Brownsville, Texas. He started The Battle of Palmito Ranch with the upper hand, planning a surprise attack. The Confederates across the border gave away their position, so Commander Barrett had no other choice than to retreat. The Union s first expedition was successful. They got a few prisoners and some supplies, but they did not achieve the desire of surprise. Later in the afternoon the Confederate forces counterattacked with less than 100 cavalry. That drove the Union back into White s Ranch, where the fighting stop for the night. The Confederates and the Union sent for reinforcements. • 47. Jazz Messenger Art Blakey In the same way as other admired jazz artists, the drummer Art Blakey held tight sufficiently long to see his way to deal with music return into style. A main drummer of the post World War II bop style exemplified by Charlie Parker, Blakey was better known for his authority of his Jazz Messengers, one of the longest running and reliably superb gatherings in jazz. The street to incredible status was twisting, in any case. Shunning the vanguard, Blakey was overlooked by jazz faultfinders in the trial 1960s and disregarded by American groups of onlookers in the 1970s, when rock applied its hegemonic control over the matter of popular music. Not able to land a U.S. recording contract, he discharged various collections for European names in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Putting aside his neo bop style, which he spearheaded, Blakey took in band individuals whose tastes were unequivocally more pop than jazz. Throw Mangione s minimal known stay in the Messengers trumpet seat was maybe a definitive impression of the breakdown in the social concensus about the components of true jazz. Yet for Blakey afficianados, the 1970s have much to offer, as another re issue from Fantasy Records illustrates. Mission Eternal contains two full collections recorded by a heavenly Blakey band in March 1973 and initially discharged by the Prestige mark under the titles of Buhaina and Athenagin. A cut underneath Blakey s best recordings of the 1960s, these collections by and by demonstrate a familiarity with the cutting edge, a desire for Latin beats and roused exhibitions by solid sidemen. Cedar Walton stays the gathering on piano and contributes some solid organizations, outstandingly Mission Eternal. Carter Jefferson, an innovative saxophonist who merits more extensive thankfulness, strikes a decent harmony between constancy to models and the unavoidable quest for new sounds. His performance on Gertrude s Bounce is brutish yet melodic. Vocalist Jon Hendricks, who joins the gathering on two cuts, is hypnotizing on the jazz standard Moanin and spooky on Along Came ... • 48. Depression And Substance Abuse The occurrence or diagnosis of depression in relation to drug use or abuse presents itself as a bi directional relationship. Meaning the onset of one of these factors (depression or already present substance use) creates an equal opportunity for the consequence of another factor to appear. Both depression and substance use and dependency have the potential to co habitat each other in a comorbid state. Symptoms occurring with depression, especially if they are left untreated, are shown to have increased rates of drug use potential while consistent substance use and abuse can cause depressive symptoms. In examining each condition separately and in conjunction of one another as well as a variety of different effects caused by substance use, treatment... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to examine this relationship, substance abuse and addiction need to be understood on its own first. Drug addictions contuse to persist on both a national and global level; it is also significant to mention that such issues create a heavy burden on government and justice systems that deal with them. In fact, 9% of Americans meet the diagnostic criteria for a substance abuse disorder (6% for alcohol and 3% for illicit drugs), making it one of the most common chronic diseases in the United States (Compton Change 2017). Such prevalence adds pressure to government systems and taxpayers as they are, estimated to cost Americans more than $400 billion annually: $224 billion for alcohol ($25 billion in health care) and $193 billion for illicit drugs ($11 billion in health care) (Compton and Chang 2017). Now, substance abuse or addiction are considered, psychiatric illnesses with specific indicators [which include] a strong desire to use (or craving), and [interruption of] life activities [which are] generally reduced to drug seeking, drug using, and recovering from the effects of use (Compton Chang 2017) When an individual tries an addictive substance like nicotine, alcohol, or other illicit drugs, it activates certain parts of the brain which can induce, pleasurable feelings and, very strong memories that drive subsequent behaviors to repeat the rewarding experience (Compton Change 2017). If such a drive continues to persist it can transition into a habit and create a dependency on that substance. Now, likewise to treatments to depression, those who suffer from substance abuse disorders also have a variety of treatment options. These treatment options include long term and short term residential treatments (inpatient and outpatient), individualized drug counseling, and group counseling (NIDA, n.d). With ... • 49. What Are The Missteps In The Declaration Of Independence An Analysis of The Declaration of Independence In the short span of thirteen years; how did the American colonies go from loyal subjects of King George III, flush in they victory over the French in the French and Indian War to becoming rebels capable of overthrowing the most powerful government in the world? It was not one single factor that caused the colonies to rebel, but a number of missteps by the smug and out of touch English government that caused the colonies to declare their independence in July 1776. The first missteps that started the revolutionary wheels turning happened when parliament enacted the Sugar Act in 1764 followed by the Stamp Act in 1765. In the wake of the French and Indian War, Britain had amassed a massive wartime debt. Parliament thought it only fair and reasonable the colonies chip in to help pay some of the war debt, considering the war was fought in their defense. Almost immediately the colonists pushed back. There were violent protest within the colonies most notably in Boston, Massachusetts. Frustrated by the actions of the colonists, the English government sent in troops to quell the violence and make the colonist submit and obey the law.
