Communication In Communication
Conversation is changing dynamically as society ushers in a new era of communication. Social media
has been a revelation in the way society interacts with one another. It is often celebrated for the ability
to connect individuals over extensive distances; however, it is quickly creating a disconnect between
people communicating face to face. There are three prevalent issues plaguing modern society s
interpersonal communication: Social media becomes an addiction, the interaction between reality and
the online landscape, and social media teaches society to multitask. Social media has caused attention
span to plummet and society has become increasingly enamored with an online world; thus, causing
individuals to be detracted from their environment and less sociable in face to face communication.
Renowned movie critic Roger Ebert had an interesting thought on why he believed social media was
addicting. In Ebert s blog he wrote about the French word frisson and its meaning. A translation into
English would show it means; a brief intense reaction. Ebert theorizes that humans search out for it
often. Essentially, what Ebert is acknowledging is that he finds himself addicted to this frisson. He
feels the need to search out the quick fix that social media provides. This indicates a possible
explanation why society tends to be on their phone during lulled situations (Ebert). Individuals do this
to search out frisson, and to distract themselves from their own perceived boredom. This

Child Care Center Observation Essay
I chose to observe at Foster Knox Child Care Center in Warrensburg, Missouri to finish up my
observation hours. When viewing this facility, it was similar to Central Village by having different age
groups separated by rooms. When I first walked into the facility I didn t notice any labeling on the
doors, to identify which age group took place in that room. However, I could easily tell by looking at
the children who were in the room. To finish my observations all I needed was the age group 24 36
months. This age group I was observing was located in the back of the facility. As I entered the room,
I noticed it was empty, no children to be found. I then realize that it was nap time. All children were in
a separate room enclosed by a door that was connected to the room I entered in. When walking in I
noticed two tables were in the center of the room. A tiny restroom area was in the far left hand corner
of the room which had a sink, water fountain, and a small toilet for the children to use frequently after
every activity. There is a play area as well which was located right when you walk into the room. The
room was bright, and had a lot of natural light coming in from the windows. Each child had their own
hook and cubby basket for their items. There were several light fixtures; however, they were not being

During these first couple of years, they begin building brain structures that will support learning, and

understanding of a child s development, it makes it easier to identify children who may not be

Prufrock in the poem The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock...
Question
Who is Prufrock?
The modern propensity for excessive introspection prevents people from living full, active lives.
Is this true of Prufrock? Refer to examples from the poem to support your opinion.
Answer
It is obvious that the excessive and obsessive reflection of self that Prufrock undergoes in the poem,
The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock written by T.S. Eliot, prevents him from living to his true
potential, and this is shown through the poet?s language and his use of poetic devices.
?The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock? has some immaculate imagery. T.S. Eliot uses figurative
diction to create almost cinematic images in the readers mind, almost like a memory of their own. The
imagery creates an incredible mood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I suppose Eliot realised the propensity of man is to analyse themselves up against the things that we
value and dream of to acquire. Therefore I deem Eliot to have tried to rid this common perception and
teach us that this view hinders us from living full, active lives. I presume T.S. Eliot replaces his
perception with Prufrock?s, which is ultimately the theme of the poem. However this is unclear,
because T.S. Eliot might have replaced Prufrock with his view on the typical individual that he
despises. It is quite evident that Prufrock has qualities derived from both these two examples. For
example, Prufrock is obsessed with his appearance, age and things which have no lifelong value, and
this ultimately leads Prufrock to individual isolation and a perpetual loathing of mankind, and this
negatively affects him. Although this is the case, Prufrock also has wisdom of the superficiality of
people in the modern world. So it is unclear who Prufrock is, in terms of if he is Eliot?s perception of
the typical man or if he is the typical man that Eliot despises, or both.
Regardless of this, I believe that Eliot is trying to convey an examination of the tortured psyche of the
prototypical modern man, a prototypical man who is overeducated, eloquent and neurotic, like
Prufrock, who is often moody, indecisive, isolated, but yet a sensitive thinker. Prufrock is lacking in
direction and is searching for order and a point to his life. I believe it was a design choice that

What Is The Rhetorical Analysis Of William Mcraven s Speech
Admiral William H. Mcraven addressed the 2014 graduating class at the University of Austin, Texas
with more than eight thousand students in attendance. Adm. Mcraven s address touched the hearts of
millions all around the world with his inspirational message of how one person can change the world
by following a simple set of rules. I chose this speech for my rhetorical analysis because of the
important message it portrays, by how helping a few can eventually help many. Adm. Mcraven s
address was especially effective for his audience, much due to how he relates to the students by
reminiscing of the day he graduated from UT while providing advice to his audience of college
graduates preparing to begin their adult lives. Adm. William ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

If you hope to complete the swim, you will have to deal with them. Not only is Ethos and Pathos used
effectively in the speech, Logos is as well. Though the use of Logos is used much more indirectly than
either of the latter, it is still an important component of the speech. Adm. Mcraven uses Logos by
providing support for his statements and lessons taught throughout the speech. For example, Adm.
Mcraven explained how one individual could ultimately change the lives of eight hundred million
people by only changing the lives of ten in their lifetime. He supports this claim with mathematical
reasoning and evidence, Ask.Com says that the average American will meet 10,000 people in their
lifetime. That s a lot of folks. But, if every one of you changed the lives of just 10 people and each one
of those folks changed the lives of another 10 people just 10 then in five generations 125 years the
class of 2014 will have changed the lives of 800 million people. Though Adm. Mcraven did use much
more Ethos and Pathos than Logos, the way in which he used them was near textbook. By using a
combination of all three components he was able to express emotion, logic, and give credibility to
himself and his stories. Perhaps the most evident usage of persuasion was the stories he told and the
lessons given after them. Doing this, Adm. Mcraven was able to give valuable life advice to his
audience in a simple, well composed statement that the audience was able to relate

Bullet Containing Embedded Metal Fragments
Wounds containing embedded metal fragments are not a recent phenomenon. However, the
introduction of unique metal mixtures to the modern battlefield, as well as the insurgents use of
improvised explosive devices, have resulted in the potential of embedded fragment wounds with
materials whose toxicological properties are not well understood. The Armed Forces Radiobiology
Research Institute was one of the first laboratories to study the long term health effects of embedded
fragments of military relevant metals. Responding to concerns over the effects of wounds containing
depleted uranium, the Institute developed a rodent model system to investigate this issue. As
additional unique metal mixtures were incorporated into weapons systems, the ... Show more content

One aspect that did not change was the use of lead in ammunition. In the 1900s other metals and metal
mixtures were used to produce munitions. In response to the increased range of firearms and the
military requirement to defeat hardened targets, copper, tungsten carbide, and steel found their way
into munitions. Advances in medical care also resulted in increased survival rate of wounded
individuals, many of whom now carried embedded metal fragments in their bodies. Standard surgical
guidelines recommended leaving embedded fragments in place, unless they could be easily removed,
to lessen the collateral tissue damage that surgery can inflict. In addition, there were few indications
reported in the scientific literature to indicate that embedded metal fragments left in place were a
health hazard in either the short or long term. There were, however, the occasional reports of adverse
health effects resulting from the long time retention of lead fragments (Stromberg, 1990; Eylon et al.,
2005). The effects were usually attributed to the solubilization of lead from the fragments, as
symptoms usually abated once the fragment was surgically removed (Linden et al., 1982; Beazley and
Rosenthal, 1984; Magos, 1994; Gerhardsson et al., 2002).

Isis of Egypt The Egyptian Goddess Isis, whom is the Goddess of Health, Marriage, and Wisdom, has
been widely worshipped amongst many religions throughout history seeing as her influence was able
to spread outside Egypt as Isis s influence spread also to the Greco Roman world as well. The contrast
of her worship in the Egyptian world and the Greco Roman world is particularly fascinating as her
worship had evolved over the course of time. In each of these time periods, as her worship continued
temples were built in her name in Egypt and in Greece. The origins of Isis aren t entirely known,
however the first evidence of Isis was found in the fifth dynasty in the sun temple of Niuserre. Even
though this is the first evidence of Isis, some like Maria Muenster makes the case that Isis was the
oldest of the gods, and that she came before the Old Kingdom of Egypt, There, in the beginning was
Isis. Oldest of the old, she was the goddess from whom all Becoming arose. And later continues to
say, In all her great and wonderful works she was a wiser magician and more excellent than any other
god. This all remains to be speculation however, since her claims are based on a lack of archaeological
evidence. Isis s elusive origins remains a common topic in Ancient Egypt history. Isis s name means
throne, and as she is depicted in the Ancient Egyptian culture, her headdress is a throne. Isis was a

Conformity And Social Conformity
Introduction
Conformity shapes our everyday decisions, whether it is acknowledged or not. How individuals are
perceived by society and our peers puts an immense pressure on a person both in groups and privately,
actively changing behavior that they may not normally take part in. An individual may change their
behavior due to the chance of becoming an outcast. The ultimate fear or possibility of being an outcast
influences individuals to conform to social norms. Psychological researchers have long been interested
in the reasoning behind social conformity. Social conformity can result in the change of behavior or
even the belief of an individual when it comes to them trying to fit within a group. The change can be
due to pressure from a social group. By looking deeper into group size and familiarity, it is possible to
accurately predict behavior for groups and individuals in the future.
In psychology, conformity is defined as the alteration of one s beliefs and behaviors to better match
those around you. There are typically two different forms of conformity, normative and informational.
Normative conformity is becoming compliant to group pressure with the want to fit in. On the other
hand, Information conformity refers to when a person looks to the group for guidance when they lack
knowledge in a certain area. Conformity also can range in different levels such as from how people
dress to how people act in public. This force is what drives even the most simple of decisions that a
person will make on a daily basis. As a result, these individuals conform to other people s behaviors.
For example, just like a public compliance, which is when a person conforms to another s behavior
even if they do not necessarily believe or agree of the person s words or actions. In society, conformity
puts pressure on citizens to either conform to the laws they are given or face legal consequences.
Conformity creates something called group norms , which are an informal set of social rules that are
often unspoken. (Group Norms) When a person violates these norms, they will often find themselves
in conflict with the rest of the group, and can potentially be removed.
Conformity has been well documented and researched, with one of the

Pakistanarian Militancy Statement
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM:
Sectarianism and militancy has become a major security issue for Pakistan. The history of sectarian
conflict in Pakistan is as old as the existence of this country. But the militant culture in Pakistan has
been on the rise for more than a decade. Sectarian killings and extremism has posed a serious threat to
society. This has not only affected the society but also its institutions. Pakistan has witnessed various
trends of militancy from intolerance to extremism, radicalization and violence. The coordination of al
Qaeda with the Taliban and the induction of sectarian extremist groups into this have proved to be a
deadly mix and have given a complicated tilt to the militancy issue.
The increasing sectarian violence and militancy in Pakistan has converted a tolerant society into an
increasingly intolerant society. The need for embracing diversity and pluralism has been felt to avoid
straining the social fabric irreparably. Sectarian militancy and extremism has not only created
disharmony in the society and is acting as repellent from Islam for followers as well as disbelievers
but is also a threat to internal security.

Global Cost Of Dementia Essay
For this assignment, I will focus on the issue of chronic illnesses when it comes to growing older. I
will look at dementia specifically, as a type of illness that affects majority of the elderly population in
the world we live in. The population is ageing and people are living longer than before hence new
diseases affecting the older generation are settling in.
The WHO (World Health Organization) says that Dementia should be considered a part of the public
health agenda in all countries (WHO, 2010)
What is Dementia?
According to WHO, almost 35.6 million people across the world are affected by dementia. Dementia
is a term used to describe a number of conditions that causes damage to the brain cells of an individual
which eventually leads to brain damage. There are many types of dementia. Not ... Show more content

The global impact of dementia costs
The cost of dementia worldwide is greater than costs of cancer and heart disease combined together
and this cost is expected to rise as the number of people with the disease is rising. The worldwide cost
of dementia is estimated at US$604 billion while in Europe it is estimated at €160billion (Wimo et al.,
2011).
The United Global Declarations sees dementia as an important cause of morbidity and also see the
need to provide equitable access to effective programmes and health care interventions (UN, 2011)
Policy Response to Dementia in Ireland
The policy response available in Ireland for people with dementia currently is to try and encourage
them to live in their own homes for as long as possible (The Years Ahead, 1988). In order for them to
live in their own homes, the government must take into consideration the following:
The extent of his/her illness (independent? Able to move around? Requires help)
The social demographic characteristics of the person ( age, race, gender, economic status, level of
education, income and employment

Moving away from the window, the young man walked toward a school desk, the only furniture
present in the room. He left a glass soda bottle, labelled Eagle s Flight , on top of it. Just as he picked

Essay On Flowers For Algernon
I have just concluded my reading of the astounding book Flowers For Algernon by Daniel Keyes.
Throughout the journey of reading this book, I was deeply devoted to learning everything I could

book. This book is about a 30 year old man named Charlie Gordon. In the book, the reader follows
him through life while he is navigating his circumstances of being born with a brain defect. This brain
defect causes Charlie to have an incredibly low IQ, and it holds him back from maturing when he is

Some of the characters in this book exemplify the type of people who break the law, and I think it is
important to focus on them because these are the people who are responsible for so many of the world
s problems. First, I will be discussing Charlie s own parents. As children, we expect our parents to be
the ones who are always there, the people that have your back, and the people who will love until the
end of time. However, for a lot of children this is not the case. And in Charlie s life, this was far from
reality. His parents were embarrassed and disgusted by him and his mental disability. They were
ashamed. The main culprit was his mother. His mother would yell at him, treat him like nothing, and
just pretend that he didn t have feelings and that he wasn t her son. For instance: Now he had a clear
picture of Charlie s mother, screaming at him, holding a leather belt in her hand, and his father trying
to hold her back (112). This example shows how his mother felt about him, how his father reacted, and
how his mother chose to take it out on Charlie: abuse. This next example Now I can see where I got
the usual motivation for becoming smart that so amazed everyone at first. It was something Rose
Gordon lived with day and night. Her fear, her guilt, her shame that Charlie was a moron (144). This

Magnet Schools Case Study
Public schools need to be competitive and imaginative when marketing their campuses so they are
viewed by the community as safe and with stronger academic programs. It is imperative to improve
the quality of teaching and learning in schools because people like to be part of a successful system.
The push to market traditional districts and regular schools is stronger than it s been before, said Rich
Bagin, the executive director of the National School Public Relations Association in Rockville, Md.
We have principals coming to us and saying we have a great school here, but everybody seems to be
leaning toward what s new (Samuels, 2012). The new can redefined as public education and can be
achieved through marketing by getting people to know you, like you, and trust you.

Magnet schools remain part of the public school system and operate under the same administration
and school board (Chen, 2015). Magnet schools have a specialized curricular focus such as science,

schools are schools of choice and students are enrolled based on their interest. Funding for magnet
schools differ from public schools because they receive additional funding for their students covering
supplies, teachers, and educational programs. Magnet schools give parents an option of sending their
child to a school with a specialized focus. The fact that magnet schools offer families a choice with
regard to their child s education is seen as a primary advantage as well. This increased competition,
supporters argue, actually benefits children in all schools, magnet or otherwise, because public schools

Advantages Of Flight Vs Invisibility
Flight vs Invisibility: One, a hero, the other a villain
Humanity has observed the heavens, viewing the feathered birds above them, being contemptuous
with their freedom of being winged creatures with the ability of flight. According to Orville Wright,
The dream to be able to fly like birds is as old as humanity itself (Wright), something embedded in the
minds of humanity. To possess flight, is to own the ability to resist the pull of a planet s gravity and
navigate through the sky, which many would disregard for invisibility, being unseen to the naked eye.

Moreover, it would be unnecessary to ride in buses, cars or planes if you had the power of flight,
enabling you to save money, as you can arrive to your desired destination without spending a dime.
Additionally, you arrive at your destination rather quickly as well, saving time. In fact, invisibility is
only good in two cases: It s useful in getting away; it s useful in approaching... therefore, useful in
killing , as stated from The Invisible Man (Wells), invisibility, is only useful for immoral acts.
Therefore, why wait and sneak on a plane with invisibility, when you can take off to anywhere of your
heart s desire? Logically and rationally, flight is truly the better option.
Alone it s wonderful how little a man can do alone! To rob a little, to hurt a little and there is the end ,
the Invisible Man in Herbert. G. Wells novel stated (Wells). Examining this assertion, one can denote
that invisibility has its shortcomings. As it relates to moral quandary, flight does not question your
moral belief, as in the majority of superhero films, the one who possesses flight is usually the
superhero. Furthermore, flight is for those who usually desire to do good with their powers, they are
shameless, fearless individuals, who would rather face danger as oppose vanishing. No one can

control over the sea route between Europe and Russia. Overall, the battle is largely considered a
failure. There were many forces that acted against the Allies during the campaign, main causes of the
loss were the repelling of the initial naval attack, the failure of the invasion of the Gallipoli Peninsula

A stray mine sunk the French battleship Bouvet with its six hundred sailors still on board. Another
French battleship, Inflexible, struck a mine close to where Bouvet had sunk earlier. Inflexible,
however, did not sink. It stayed afloat and eventually became beached. Due to the inexperience of the
men sailing the minesweepers, the constant bombardment of Ottoman artillery proved to be too much

Allied ships were damaged or sunk by the time the battle had ended.
The Allies then began to plan a ground invasion of the Dardanelles and sent two submarines into the

to enter into the strait unharmed and on December 13, 1959. It sunk the Ottoman Battleship,

The author uses different formats of symbols to portray the danger that the power of invisibility and
the man possess. First, the invisible cat on pages 108 and 109, is a minor character in the novel, but
portrays a much larger picture. While Griffith was testing his invisibility potion, he decided to test it
on his neighbor s cat. The cat gradually became invisible, except with its emerald green eyes. The
invisible man threw it out onto the street and it became a ruckus for all of the community. The
invisible cat represents the first time that invisibility is revealed. At first, the cat did not know what to
expect from the invisibility, like Griffith. Then the community didn t know how to react, like the
village of Iping. The invisible cat was a stepping stone in the climax of Griffith turning invisible and
his impact on Iping. Next, when Griffith was forced out by his landlord to leave his apartment, he set
his apartment on fire. At first the fire started out compact, like Griffith when he became invisible.
Over time, the fire gained strength until it roared like a lion and destroyed other apartments until it
engulfed the entire building. This portrayed Griffith and his insidious actions toward the community.
At first the invisible only affected himself. Then his actions began to turn devious and grow, much like
the fire. Finally, the last symbol the author uses to depict a

Embryonic Stem Cells (ESC) and how they are obtained. The funding is very unstable for stem cell
research due to the use of ESC, combined with the message they send. There have been several
arguments in regards to the right to life. In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) clinics have never been funded by
the government and that is not the plan for this research either. Even if the research was funded by the
government, the stem cells would continue to live on. Stem cells are used to find cures for life

No New Worlds By Dr. Adrian Forsyth
The world is in a constant state of change, today s decisions will affect the future of all species large
and small, defining the ways in which society will continue to live. The essay No New Worlds written
by Dr. Adrian Forsyth explores ideas associated with ever changing populations and states of the
world. The essay describes the existence of humankind by their impacts on the surrounding
environments. The reader is then introduced to the implications our world faces if these problems are
not solved and additionally steps to solving these issues. Thus, both men and women need to take
action to help or pay the consequences and protect the only world we have, planet Earth.

Dr. Forsyth implements plenty of evidence as well as proven statistics to back up his outlook on these
issues. The growth of human population is happening at an exponential rate, implying that in a short
period of time population growth will double. We find it difficult to comprehend exponential growth,
but it may prove to be our fatal blind spot [3]. When analysing the world s population over a long
period of time, it took roughly 19,000 years for the world s population to go from 5million people to
500 million people in 1500 A.D. [4] With an estimated population of 7.5 billion people [5], for a
period less than 1000 years, population increased more than 1500 times its size than it was in the 1500
s. In addition, on a more minute scale of time, in 1950 the world s population was roughly 2.5 billion
people [6] in merely 50 years the world s population has tripled. With these statics, it is evident that
the world s population is increasing at an incomprehensive rate. With populations at their peak,
overconsumption is another problem this world faces, as Dr. Forsyth affirms humans consume far
more than their fair share of the Earth s natural productivity. [7] Due to this over consumption of
resources, there is a vast demand for cheap food which results in the clear cutting of large forest to
generate room for new plantations of food. When doing so, humans destroy habitats that

Joy Kogawa s Where There Is A Wall
The poem Where There is a Wall by Joy Kogawa is about the struggles of overcoming challenges in
life. Kogawa s poem addresses a social phenomenon. The poet was born in Vancouver, British
Columbia and her writing style is explained by the events that happened early on in her life. Kogawa s
family was sent to an internment camp for Japanese Canadians during World Word II. Therefore, the
poet s history with racism has greatly impacted her and influences her writing today. Considering the
poets past experiences with racism the poem is told in an objective view and could be described as her

Who s to blame for the Opium Wars?
The Opium Wars were a series of two wars fought between the British Empire and Chinese over

Firstly Britain had a stronger power over China which gave them more confidence to take hold of
China. Secondly Britain was given countless of times to stop the opium trade but still became angry
after they blew it up and Thirdly Even after Britain had gotten hold of Hong Kong and was able to

Animal Rights Against Animals And The Land Ethic
Drawing on animal rights claims, the questionable moral status of animals and the land ethic, this
essay seeks to argue that zoos; a place in which wild animal s are held in captivity, are inherently
unethical, because they violate the ethical and moral standard in which animals have a claim to. Citing
experts in the animal ethics field, this essay will be supported by firstly establishing that animals do in
fact have animal rights and similarly, that they have a claim to a moral status relative to that of
humans. Following this, this essay will show that the animal rights, which zoo animals are privy to,
allows us to set an ethical standard on which humans have a duty to treat animals, especially when
held in captivity. Analyzing this ethical standard with which me must treat zoo animals, we can
deduce that zoos are in fact not ethical in nature and in practice.
The starting point of this essay is to establish and lay out an animal rights claim. The point here is not
to solely list which specific rights animals have, as that goes beyond the scope of this essay, but to
discuss why animals do in fact have a claim to rights, and what this means for humans. The need to
understand the intrinsic, or inherent value of animals allows us to see the base from which their claim
to rights is derived. Inherent value refers to the idea that animals are valuable in themselves, not in
what they provide us. Tom Regan, an animal ethicist, sets out the moral grounding from which we can

Commercial Bridge Loans
The commercial bridge loan act as interim financing and is used to quickly close on a commercial real
estate property. These types of loans are also used to take advantage of an opportunity that is only

expensive than the usual commercial financing options. This is because commercial loans are riskier
than conventional loans.
The term, commercial bridge loan generally applies to the use of the funds instead of the source of the

Taser Research Proposal Essay
Research Proposal
Tasers
Definition of the Research Problem/Question The research topic we have chosen to research is Tasers.
The use of Tasers has been a very controversial topic in the last few years. Reporters, doctors, and
human rights groups have all expressed concern that police officers will use a Taser in situations when
no weapon is required and concern has also been expressed over if the Taser is really a less lethal
option. No one claims the use of Tasers to be risk free but studies have found them comparatively safe.
We believe that people opposed to Tasers ignore a body of the reports showing the technology is safe
and effective. The research question we hope to answer is: Is the deployment of a Taser a safe and

The media has made this topic a very controversial topic. If there is a story of someone getting tased
anywhere in the United States for anything, including having a weapon in their hand pointed at a law
enforcement officer, it will be on the Ten o clock news top story. The media makes citizens question
law enforcement actions because they only show the part of the story that has the greatest shock
factor. The reporters play the part of the video that makes the point they do not show the complete
video and explain what happened. Another issue that is on the rise is citizens believing that some
suspects that die after being tased is the result of the Taser. This is another problem the media has
created by telling the initial story and flashing Taser death all over the screen and don t do a follow up
story explaining the other reason why the person died that was tased. There is usually a medical
condition involved with the death. If the public does not receive the whole story how can they make
an informed decision if Tasers are a safe and viable option to deadly force.
Relevance
In our research study we hope to show that the goal to Tasers it to provide law enforcement with
alternatives to deadly force in order to minimize harm to both community members and police. We
also want to show that no use of devices or techniques may be safe to everyone, but that we can t look

Women in Iran
1. Women s rights in Iran have for many years been a very controversial and heated topic. The way
women live and are viewed by men in Iran has changed in so many ways throughout the end of the
twentieth century leading into current day. Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi was the last Shah of Iran
and throughout his attempt to westernize his country he was overthrown by the Iranian Revolution,
also known as the Islamic Revolution, on February 11th, 1979.[1] Religious rulers took over and
influenced the Sharia Law, which are decisions on how to live life by studying religious texts. Ever
since this change women have faced a struggle to survive in harsh conditions every day of their lives.

This allows women to face discrimination in all walks of life, and which allows men the authority to
exercise their power without any fear of being held accountable for their actions. The Sharia or
Islamic law defines the roles of women which are that women are not equal to men when it comes to
inheritance, but men and women are equal before God when it comes to their religious duties and the
second is that women are placed under the protection and care of men. It says that men are not
superior to women and that in the beginning men did not come before women and visa versa and that
woman were not created for the purpose of man, but created in the unity of man.[11] After the
Revolution, the attitude toward women by men has been condescending.[12] Although the Hadith
states that women are morally defective , it must ignore the fact that the vast individuals jailed for
murder, rape, child abuse, etc. are men. The problem is that the laws have been derived from the
words of men and not the words of God in which were intended. The Qur an says O Mankind, keep
your duty to your Lord who created you from a single soul and from it created its mate (of same kind)
and from them twain has spread a multitude of men and women .[13] Women in Islamic culture had a

A Comparison of Moral Conflict in Antigone and A Doll s...
Conflict Between Individual Morals and State Laws in Antigone and A Doll s House
Mother, should I trust the government? Or should I trust myself? This dilemma is a common one in a
great deal of literature. In Antigone and A Doll s House, the main theme is the question of whether one
should be true to oneself or true to one s state or society. Should Nora (in A Doll s House) and
Antigone (in Antigone) follow the rules and do what the state and society want them to do or should
they follow their own consciences? Both plays address the conflict between individual morals and
state laws, obedience and disobedience, and understanding oneself.
Antigone shows the contrast between state law and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the state and state laws to exist there have to be the people too. The state depends on the people
and not just the ruler.
Haemon: A one man state? What sort of a state is that?
Creon: Why, does not every state belong to its ruler?
Haemon: You d be an excellent king on a desert island (Sophocles page #).
Haemon questions whether Creon s judgements are correct or not (above). For Antigone the divine
law is what should be used instead of the state law, which is defined only by what the king wants.
Therefore should Haemon and Antigone oppose the state law? The king makes up the main part of the
state, and decides whether the laws he makes are fair, and do not object to these laws otherwise he
wouldn t be king. Some may think that it is wrong that people should oppose the state s laws, and
should just follow them, but then they will never get to have their own beliefs and never have a better
understanding of themselves in the end.
In Antigone there is the state and its laws, but in A Doll s House we see more of the society, and the
laws it enforces on the individual. The society s rules prevent the characters from seeing and
expressing their true nature. When Krogstad tells Nora that the law takes no account of good motives,
she cries, Then they must be very bad laws (Ibsen page #). This causes a problem for the main female
characters, in deciding if

What Is The Theme Of Dover Beach Poem
The beauty of nature is a distraction from the misery of being alive. In his poem Dover Beach,
Matthew Arnold successfully captures the beauty of the world and manages to turn it into the idea of
life being full of despair. Writing during the Victorian period, a time of where people questioned
religion due to Darwin s theory of evolution, Arnold condemns the world for its absence of faith that
caused this misery. Suffering is seen in everything as it even lurks under the beauty of things. Arnold
exemplifies the human misery through his use of imagery, symbolism, and metaphor to convey that
faith is the only thing powerful enough to keep human life joyful. Beginning the poem with simple
imagery, Arnold elucidates the true dark reality that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ebb and flow of the tide is a metaphor for how sadnesses rises and falls in and out of human life
(Arnold 17). With no hope being left in religion, Arnold mentions one last hope for humanity to put
their faith into. In his last stanza, he reveals that love can bring back the joy in life (Arnold 29).
Specifically he refers to it as being true to one another and putting their faith into that other person
(Arnold 29 30). Arnold compares to love as being a land of dreams (31). Dreams are seen as happy
and being so beautiful (Arnold 32); consequently, just like dreams, they don t always come true.
Arnold brings his audience back to reality by professing how we are here as on a darkling plain (35).
By reflecting the darkness of reality, Arnold illuminates how love still might not be enough to go
through these confused alarms of struggle (36). In conclusion, throughout Dover Beach, Matthew
Arnold uses imagery, symbolism, and metaphor to elucidate how life is grim and suffering is hidden in
everything. Humans now live an endless cycle masking their misery in other worldly things that only
seem to make them happy. With the Victorian period s doubt in faith, Arnold seems to be suggesting
how faith once played a huge role in human happiness. He sees within his society that not everyone is
happy and is filled with despair. Human life is not meant to be all happy and that sadness is the eternal
aspect of living in this

on the quantity the more the company produces the greater the total variable cost will be. This
information is important to a company because if the price of production be greater that the price set

The cost concept TFC total fixed cost would provide a company with information related to total cost
of all fixed cost in the company such as rent, utilities, and salaries. Total fix cost is not impacted by
other cost concepts during the short run because it is the total of all variables that are fixed and can not
be changed, the cost of fixed variable cannot be avoided unlike TVC because even if there is no output
fixed cost must be paid. The cost concept AVC shows a company the average per unit cost including
both variable cast and fixed cost. This information is use to determine the price a company should sell
the product for to make a profit. AVC is determined by the total variable cost and the quantity if the
price is higher than the AVC then the company is making a profit if price is lower the company may

Describe briefly the function and composition of blood.
Blood is a red fluid that contains a complex mixture of cells suspended in a liquid matrix which is
transported (circulated) throughout the body by the circulatory system of an organism. It circulates
around the body by the heart and delivers oxygen and other important nutrients to cells of organs and
tissues, while at the same time, removing waste product from our body. Blood is located in almost
every part of our body, which is due to the network of blood vessels called the circulatory system. It is
circulated through the body s heart, arteries, veins and capillaries (tiny vessels that connect arteries
and veins). In order for blood to carry out its functions, it needs to circulate all over our body to all
living cells and tissues which it does through the support of the heart that pumps blood throughout our
entire body). Thus, it is the fluid of life, a vital life force that all humans need in order to live and
sustain life.

Pediatric Sarcomas Form A Heterogeneous Group Of...
Pediatric sarcomas form a heterogeneous group of mesenchymal skeletal and extraskeletal
malignancies [1]. Over the last few decades a multimodal treatment approach has improved
dramatically the prognosis for children with localized Ewing sarcomas (EWS) and rhabdomyosarcoma
(RMS) (65 70% event free survival rate) [2, 3]. Though EWS and RMS are considered radiosensitive,
the proportion of patients whose primary tumors are treated with external beam radiotherapy (EBRT)
alone has steadily declined over the past 30 years [4]. Increased awareness of the late effects of
radiotherapy (particularly second malignancies and growth disturbances) and advances in imaging and
orthopedic surgery has increased the use of surgical management for these tumors [5]. Due to the fact
that complete resection is often difficult or morbid to perform, adjuvant EBRT still plays an important
role in local control (LC) promotion [2, 3]. The challenge of achieving LC with a suitable therapeutic
ratio is especially demanding in the pediatric population and results in a very narrow therapeutic
window in which to balance benefits and late effects. The known detrimental effects of irradiating
large volumes with EBRT, impulsed limited radiation therapy alternatives such us intraoperative

Success Is Counted Sweetest Analysis
After only a short sixteen years, I have that realized that success abounds everywhere. To me success
is learning, growing, and changing. While society tries to inculcate that success equals winning, or
being the best at something, I would argue that losing is what truly plants the seed for the greatest
accomplishments in life. A failure is just an opportunity to gain knowledge of what does not work.
This knowledge can then be applied in order to accomplish goals in the future. My theory of success,
contends that failures should not be a cause for frustration, because they are necessary in order to
move forward.
First of all, even history has shown us that success is not measured in the amount of triumphs one has.

the Cambodian culture. Being proper and having the best etiquette is a way to show how high your
status is. Women demonstrate their high status through proper behavior. This includes both proper
comportment and correct actions. Women are to walk slowly and softly, be so quiet in their
movements that one cannot hear the sound of their silk skirt rustling .(Ledgerwood 112). Loung starts
to wear more revealing clothes as she grows older. She puts on makeup and flirts with boys as she sees
the other girls in her class doing. When her brother starts to notice he gets angry at Loung, Accusing

Analysis Of The Great Wave Off Kanagawa
The Great Wave off Kanagawa; the Wave that Swept the Western World
Almost instantaneously recognizable, The Great Wave off Kanagawa (woodblock, 10 1/8 x 14 15/16
in, c. 1830 32), created by Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai in 1830, beautifully captures the
graceful, swelling movement of a crashing tsunami. Because of the way in which line and proportion
are utilized, this woodblock print gracefully portrays the sheer power of the ocean. Derived from the
Edo period in nineteenth century Japan, this classic was the first of a series of works from Hokusai
titled Thirty six views of Mount Fuji, all of which effortlessly depict the mountain in a wide array of
angles and scenery. Arguably, The Great Wave off Kanagawa is the most iconic and cherished piece of
Japanese artwork in the world. Even more importantly, Hokusai is considered a prominent father
figure for both Japanese art, as well as Western modernization as a whole. The Great Wave truly
displays how tiny and weak man is compared to the force of nature. Not only is The Great Wave a
quintessential piece of art, but it established a piece in the comprehensive networks of art, trade, and
politics, that has instilled a tremendous positive impact in the Western world. Created solely from the
vivid imagination of Hokusai, the primary compositional focus of this simple, but deceptively
dynamic print, is the massive deep blue and white wave located in the left foreground of the work. Its
detailed, curling white caps make it

Disastrous Self-Cannibalism
In Western culture a fundamental belief states that humans are profoundly different from animals. In
defense of our position as higher beings, we use culture and rationality to distinguish ourselves from
animals and savages. The eighteenth century European man saw himself as the very pinnacle of
culture and greatness. Advances in science had enabled man to understand and predict god s world,
and innovations in art allowed man to create works of increasing divine beauty. The progress of
society was evident and continued to propel mankind to greater status with increasing distance from
lowly animals. However, several eighteenth century authors present a different account of the idea of
progress. For Jonathan Swift, Alexander Pope, and William ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In particular, Swift shows this theme of human degeneration in A Beautiful Young Nymph Going to
Bed (1731). The poem depicts Corinna, a prostitute, as she is removing her makeup and other fashion
accessories at the end of the day. However, this nymph s evening practices elicit shock and horror:
Corinna Takes off her artificial Hair, plucks out her Crystal Eye, and Untwists a Wire; and from her
Gums/ A Set of Teeth completely comes (A Beautiful Young Nymph Going to Bed lines 10, 11, 19
20). This deconstruction of the female form functions as a sort of cannibalism. It mirrors the process
by which a butcher might process an animal so that its meat may be served. Indeed, Corinna is self
cannibalizing her own body and her own humanity. As her ritual progresses, she Unlaces next her
Steel rib d Brodice, which conjures up imagines of metal machinery and suggests that she is less than
human and therefore lacks the power of reason that would keep her together. Furthermore, the
prostitute s steady progress in revealing her grotesquely fragmented body parallels the same falseness
in society that Swift aims to reveal in his poetry. But perhaps most horrifying is imagining how the
Corinna, Must ev ry Morn her Limbs unite ( A Beautiful Young Nymph Going to Bed 66). This
process of reconstruction only works to hide her true nature, which she disguises by presenting herself
as fully human. Ultimately, Corinna is made monstrous by the demands to uphold cultural standards of

Social media has been a revelation in the way society interacts with one another. It is often celebrated for the ability to connect individuals over extensive distances; however, it is quickly creating a disconnect between people communicating face to face. There are three prevalent issues plaguing modern society s interpersonal communication: Social media becomes an addiction, the interaction between reality and the online landscape, and social media teaches society to multitask. Social media has caused attention span to plummet and society has become increasingly enamored with an online world; thus, causing individuals to be detracted from their environment and less sociable in face to face communication. Renowned movie critic Roger Ebert had an interesting thought on why he believed social media was addicting. In Ebert s blog he wrote about the French word frisson and its meaning. A translation into English would show it means; a brief intense reaction. Ebert theorizes that humans search out for it often. Essentially, what Ebert is acknowledging is that he finds himself addicted to this frisson. He feels the need to search out the quick fix that social media provides. This indicates a possible explanation why society tends to be on their phone during lulled situations (Ebert). Individuals do this to search out frisson, and to distract themselves from their own perceived boredom. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Child Care Center Observation Essay I chose to observe at Foster Knox Child Care Center in Warrensburg, Missouri to finish up my observation hours. When viewing this facility, it was similar to Central Village by having different age groups separated by rooms. When I first walked into the facility I didn t notice any labeling on the doors, to identify which age group took place in that room. However, I could easily tell by looking at the children who were in the room. To finish my observations all I needed was the age group 24 36 months. This age group I was observing was located in the back of the facility. As I entered the room, I noticed it was empty, no children to be found. I then realize that it was nap time. All children were in a separate room enclosed by a door that was connected to the room I entered in. When walking in I noticed two tables were in the center of the room. A tiny restroom area was in the far left hand corner of the room which had a sink, water fountain, and a small toilet for the children to use frequently after every activity. There is a play area as well which was located right when you walk into the room. The room was bright, and had a lot of natural light coming in from the windows. Each child had their own hook and cubby basket for their items. There were several light fixtures; however, they were not being used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Prufrock in the poem The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock... Question Who is Prufrock? The modern propensity for excessive introspection prevents people from living full, active lives. Is this true of Prufrock? Refer to examples from the poem to support your opinion. Answer It is obvious that the excessive and obsessive reflection of self that Prufrock undergoes in the poem, The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock written by T.S. Eliot, prevents him from living to his true potential, and this is shown through the poet?s language and his use of poetic devices. ?The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock? has some immaculate imagery. T.S. Eliot uses figurative diction to create almost cinematic images in the readers mind, almost like a memory of their own. The imagery creates an incredible mood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I suppose Eliot realised the propensity of man is to analyse themselves up against the things that we value and dream of to acquire. Therefore I deem Eliot to have tried to rid this common perception and teach us that this view hinders us from living full, active lives. I presume T.S. Eliot replaces his perception with Prufrock?s, which is ultimately the theme of the poem. However this is unclear, because T.S. Eliot might have replaced Prufrock with his view on the typical individual that he despises. It is quite evident that Prufrock has qualities derived from both these two examples. For example, Prufrock is obsessed with his appearance, age and things which have no lifelong value, and this ultimately leads Prufrock to individual isolation and a perpetual loathing of mankind, and this negatively affects him. Although this is the case, Prufrock also has wisdom of the superficiality of people in the modern world. So it is unclear who Prufrock is, in terms of if he is Eliot?s perception of the typical man or if he is the typical man that Eliot despises, or both. Regardless of this, I believe that Eliot is trying to convey an examination of the tortured psyche of the prototypical modern man, a prototypical man who is overeducated, eloquent and neurotic, like Prufrock, who is often moody, indecisive, isolated, but yet a sensitive thinker. Prufrock is lacking in direction and is searching for order and a point to his life. I believe it was a design choice that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. What Is The Rhetorical Analysis Of William Mcraven s Speech Admiral William H. Mcraven addressed the 2014 graduating class at the University of Austin, Texas with more than eight thousand students in attendance. Adm. Mcraven s address touched the hearts of millions all around the world with his inspirational message of how one person can change the world by following a simple set of rules. I chose this speech for my rhetorical analysis because of the important message it portrays, by how helping a few can eventually help many. Adm. Not only is Ethos and Pathos used effectively in the speech, Logos is as well. Though the use of Logos is used much more indirectly than either of the latter, it is still an important component of the speech. Adm. Mcraven uses Logos by providing support for his statements and lessons taught throughout the speech. For example, Adm. Mcraven explained how one individual could ultimately change the lives of eight hundred million people by only changing the lives of ten in their lifetime. He supports this claim with mathematical reasoning and evidence, Ask.Com says that the average American will meet 10,000 people in their lifetime. That s a lot of folks. But, if every one of you changed the lives of just 10 people and each one of those folks changed the lives of another 10 people just 10 then in five generations 125 years the class of 2014 will have changed the lives of 800 million people. Though Adm. Mcraven did use much more Ethos and Pathos than Logos, the way in which he used them was near textbook. By using a combination of all three components he was able to express emotion, logic, and give credibility to himself and his stories. Perhaps the most evident usage of persuasion was the stories he told and the lessons given after them. Doing this, Adm. Mcraven was able to give valuable life advice to his audience in a simple, well composed statement that the audience was able to relate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, the introduction of unique metal mixtures to the modern battlefield, as well as the insurgents use of improvised explosive devices, have resulted in the potential of embedded fragment wounds with materials whose toxicological properties are not well understood. The Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute was one of the first laboratories to study the long term health effects of embedded fragments of military relevant metals. In the 1900s other metals and metal mixtures were used to produce munitions. In response to the increased range of firearms and the military requirement to defeat hardened targets, copper, tungsten carbide, and steel found their way into munitions. Advances in medical care also resulted in increased survival rate of wounded individuals, many of whom now carried embedded metal fragments in their bodies. Standard surgical guidelines recommended leaving embedded fragments in place, unless they could be easily removed, to lessen the collateral tissue damage that surgery can inflict. In addition, there were few indications reported in the scientific literature to indicate that embedded metal fragments left in place were a health hazard in either the short or long term. There were, however, the occasional reports of adverse health effects resulting from the long time retention of lead fragments (Stromberg, 1990; Eylon et al., 2005). The effects were usually attributed to the solubilization of lead from the fragments, as symptoms usually abated once the fragment was surgically removed (Linden et al., 1982; Beazley and Rosenthal, 1984; Magos, 1994; Gerhardsson et al., 2002). Research Paper On Isis Daniel Gomes World Religions: M: 6:30 9:30 Jason File November 20, 2017 Isis of Egypt The Egyptian Goddess Isis, whom is the Goddess of Health, Marriage, and Wisdom, has been widely worshipped amongst many religions throughout history seeing as her influence was able to spread outside Egypt as Isis s influence spread also to the Greco Roman world as well. The contrast of her worship in the Egyptian world and the Greco Roman world is particularly fascinating as her worship had evolved over the course of time. In each of these time periods, as her worship continued temples were built in her name in Egypt and in Greece. The origins of Isis aren t entirely known, however the first evidence of Isis was found in the fifth dynasty in the sun temple of Niuserre. Even though this is the first evidence of Isis, some like Maria Muenster makes the case that Isis was the oldest of the gods, and that she came before the Old Kingdom of Egypt, There, in the beginning was Isis. Oldest of the old, she was the goddess from whom all Becoming arose. And later continues to say, In all her great and wonderful works she was a wiser magician and more excellent than any other god. This all remains to be speculation however, since her claims are based on a lack of archaeological evidence. Isis s elusive origins remains a common topic in Ancient Egypt history. • 8. Conformity And Social Conformity Introduction Conformity shapes our everyday decisions, whether it is acknowledged or not. How individuals are perceived by society and our peers puts an immense pressure on a person both in groups and privately, actively changing behavior that they may not normally take part in. An individual may change their behavior due to the chance of becoming an outcast. The ultimate fear or possibility of being an outcast influences individuals to conform to social norms. Psychological researchers have long been interested in the reasoning behind social conformity. Social conformity can result in the change of behavior or even the belief of an individual when it comes to them trying to fit within a group. The change can be due to pressure from a social group. By looking deeper into group size and familiarity, it is possible to accurately predict behavior for groups and individuals in the future. In psychology, conformity is defined as the alteration of one s beliefs and behaviors to better match those around you. There are typically two different forms of conformity, normative and informational. Normative conformity is becoming compliant to group pressure with the want to fit in. On the other hand, Information conformity refers to when a person looks to the group for guidance when they lack knowledge in a certain area. Conformity also can range in different levels such as from how people dress to how people act in public. This force is what drives even the most simple of decisions that a person will make on a daily basis. As a result, these individuals conform to other people s behaviors. For example, just like a public compliance, which is when a person conforms to another s behavior even if they do not necessarily believe or agree of the person s words or actions. In society, conformity puts pressure on citizens to either conform to the laws they are given or face legal consequences. Conformity creates something called group norms , which are an informal set of social rules that are often unspoken. (Group Norms) When a person violates these norms, they will often find themselves in conflict with the rest of the group, and can potentially be removed. Conformity has been well documented and researched, with one of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sectarian killings and extremism has posed a serious threat to society. This has not only affected the society but also its institutions. As children, we expect our parents to be the ones who are always there, the people that have your back, and the people who will love until the end of time. However, for a lot of children this is not the case. And in Charlie s life, this was far from reality. His parents were embarrassed and disgusted by him and his mental disability. They were ashamed. The main culprit was his mother. His mother would yell at him, treat him like nothing, and just pretend that he didn t have feelings and that he wasn t her son. For instance: Now he had a clear picture of Charlie s mother, screaming at him, holding a leather belt in her hand, and his father trying to hold her back (112). The growth of human population is happening at an exponential rate, implying that in a short period of time population growth will double. We find it difficult to comprehend exponential growth, but it may prove to be our fatal blind spot [3]. When analysing the world s population over a long period of time, it took roughly 19,000 years for the world s population to go from 5million people to 500 million people in 1500 A.D. [4] With an estimated population of 7.5 billion people [5], for a period less than 1000 years, population increased more than 1500 times its size than it was in the 1500 s. In addition, on a more minute scale of time, in 1950 the world s population was roughly 2.5 billion people [6] in merely 50 years the world s population has tripled. With these statics, it is evident that the world s population is increasing at an incomprehensive rate. With populations at their peak, overconsumption is another problem this world faces, as Dr. Forsyth affirms humans consume far more than their fair share of the Earth s natural productivity. [7] Due to this over consumption of resources, there is a vast demand for cheap food which results in the clear cutting of large forest to generate room for new plantations of food. Animal Rights Against Animals And The Land Ethic Drawing on animal rights claims, the questionable moral status of animals and the land ethic, this essay seeks to argue that zoos; a place in which wild animal s are held in captivity, are inherently unethical, because they violate the ethical and moral standard in which animals have a claim to. Citing experts in the animal ethics field, this essay will be supported by firstly establishing that animals do in fact have animal rights and similarly, that they have a claim to a moral status relative to that of humans. Following this, this essay will show that the animal rights, which zoo animals are privy to, allows us to set an ethical standard on which humans have a duty to treat animals, especially when held in captivity. Analyzing this ethical standard with which me must treat zoo animals, we can deduce that zoos are in fact not ethical in nature and in practice. The starting point of this essay is to establish and lay out an animal rights claim. The point here is not to solely list which specific rights animals have, as that goes beyond the scope of this essay, but to discuss why animals do in fact have a claim to rights, and what this means for humans. The need to understand the intrinsic, or inherent value of animals allows us to see the base from which their claim to rights is derived. Inherent value refers to the idea that animals are valuable in themselves, not in what they provide us. Tom Regan, an animal ethicist, sets out the moral grounding from which we can ... It says that men are not superior to women and that in the beginning men did not come before women and visa versa and that woman were not created for the purpose of man, but created in the unity of man.[11] After the Revolution, the attitude toward women by men has been condescending.[12] Although the Hadith states that women are morally defective , it must ignore the fact that the vast individuals jailed for murder, rape, child abuse, etc. are men. The problem is that the laws have been derived from the words of men and not the words of God in which were intended. Haemon questions whether Creon s judgements are correct or not (above). For Antigone the divine law is what should be used instead of the state law, which is defined only by what the king wants. In his poem Dover Beach, Matthew Arnold successfully captures the beauty of the world and manages to turn it into the idea of life being full of despair. Writing during the Victorian period, a time of where people questioned religion due to Darwin s theory of evolution, Arnold condemns the world for its absence of faith that caused this misery. Suffering is seen in everything as it even lurks under the beauty of things. With no hope being left in religion, Arnold mentions one last hope for humanity to put their faith into. In his last stanza, he reveals that love can bring back the joy in life (Arnold 29). Specifically he refers to it as being true to one another and putting their faith into that other person (Arnold 29 30). Arnold compares to love as being a land of dreams (31). Dreams are seen as happy and being so beautiful (Arnold 32); consequently, just like dreams, they don t always come true. Arnold brings his audience back to reality by professing how we are here as on a darkling plain (35). By reflecting the darkness of reality, Arnold illuminates how love still might not be enough to go through these confused alarms of struggle (36). In conclusion, throughout Dover Beach, Matthew Arnold uses imagery, symbolism, and metaphor to elucidate how life is grim and suffering is hidden in everything. Humans now live an endless cycle masking their misery in other worldly things that only seem to make them happy. With the Victorian period s doubt in faith, Arnold seems to be suggesting how faith once played a huge role in human happiness. It circulates around the body by the heart and delivers oxygen and other important nutrients to cells of organs and tissues, while at the same time, removing waste product from our body. Blood is located in almost every part of our body, which is due to the network of blood vessels called the circulatory system. It is circulated through the body s heart, arteries, veins and capillaries (tiny vessels that connect arteries and veins). In order for blood to carry out its functions, it needs to circulate all over our body to all living cells and tissues which it does through the support of the heart that pumps blood throughout our entire body). Over the last few decades a multimodal treatment approach has improved dramatically the prognosis for children with localized Ewing sarcomas (EWS) and rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) (65 70% event free survival rate) [2, 3]. Though EWS and RMS are considered radiosensitive, the proportion of patients whose primary tumors are treated with external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) alone has steadily declined over the past 30 years [4]. Increased awareness of the late effects of radiotherapy (particularly second malignancies and growth disturbances) and advances in imaging and orthopedic surgery has increased the use of surgical management for these tumors [5]. Due to the fact that complete resection is often difficult or morbid to perform, adjuvant EBRT still plays an important role in local control (LC) promotion [2, 3]. The challenge of achieving LC with a suitable therapeutic ratio is especially demanding in the pediatric population and results in a very narrow therapeutic window in which to balance benefits and late effects. While society tries to inculcate that success equals winning, or being the best at something, I would argue that losing is what truly plants the seed for the greatest accomplishments in life. A failure is just an opportunity to gain knowledge of what does not work. This knowledge can then be applied in order to accomplish goals in the future. My theory of success, contends that failures should not be a cause for frustration, because they are necessary in order to move forward. First of all, even history has shown us that success is not measured in the amount of triumphs one has. As an inventor, Edison made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb.
