Intelligent Risks Essay
Taking intelligent risks in life is very important because if the risk that you take is deemed
intelligent, then you can only be benefiting. The risk you take has possible outcomes and they must
be determined before you decide to take the risk or not. To determine the outcomes, you must make
every outcome a possibilitybecause in a risk, anything can happen. When taking an intelligent risk,
you must also realize that it doesn t have to be a drastic risk. Taking intelligent risks in life can be
deemed intelligent if the positive outcomes overweigh the negative ones and should be taken.
Taking intelligent risks are good for several reasons and they must be analyzed. When taking a risk,
there are many things to consider. You should

A risk deemed foolish is when the possible outcomes are substantially not in your favor or
interest. An intelligent risk is when you know and understand the severity of the risk and when
the outcomes will be good and no harm will be done. Risks in life are very important however,
you must realize the importance of intelligent risks. Taking intelligent risks have very good
consequences compared to taking a risk. There are many consequences for avoiding risks. If you
are always avoiding risks, there are some values that you will not obtain such as you may
overcome a fear of them. Also, when the time comes that you must take a risk, you could be
unprepared because you haven t had any experience. Taking intelligent risks outweigh the negative
consequences of never taking a risk in several ways. This is true because an intelligent risk is
backed by several reasons why you should take that risk. When you never take a risk, you are
inexperienced and it will become difficult to cope with having to take a risk for the first time.
Taking intelligent risks in life is very important to living better. When you take an intelligent
risk, you can only enhance your style of living. If you have to take an intelligent risk, such as
having surgery, it can save your life and help you enhance your life. You should never avoid risks
and you should never always take risks, you have to know what risks are necessary. Risks in life

Counter Terrorism Alternatives
In today s day and age, the fear of terrorism is not only a common sentiment, but is also a rising
subject of debate. In order to keep troops out of harm s way, the United States has looked for
alternate means of combatting terrorist organizations. Since September 11, 2001 the United States
has relied heavily on its men and women in uniform to prevent terrorism abroad. Technology of
today and the use of intelligence offer the United States alternate means of addressing terrorism.
For instance, drone strikes were called by former US CIA director Leon Panetta, the only game in
town in term of confronting or trying to disrupt the Al Qaeda leadership (ODLE, 2013). With the
use of typology, socioeconomic assistance, drones, diplomatic engagement and enhanced airline
security services, the use of military force is not the only way to prevent terrorism.
If our country wants to never send another son or daughter to war then we must first understand
who the terrorists are. Former President George Bush said we fight against poverty because hope
is an answer to terror (Lee 2011). On the other hand, there are studies that say the opposite, that
terrorism is not related to poverty. Poverty and education are very important factors of what
violence occurs. The lower the poverty and education the increased chances for violence.

Essay On City Council Meeting
The process of the City Council meeting was very interesting and long. There were many things
that I learned in this meeting because it was the first meeting that I have been to for the city.
Everything was planned and very organized in the meeting and they go down a schedule or list
of what they will do first. The Mayor of the city of Bakersfield is the one to begin the meeting,
but he was absent the day that I went so Vice Mayor Harold Hanson took his spot. He mentioned
how the Mayor had not missed a meeting in such a long time that he can not even remember the
last time he got to take his place. Hearing what the Vice Mayor said about the Mayor showed the
residents of Bakersfield and I how important and how serious the Mayor takes his job. It showed
that the Mayor really cares for the people of Bakersfield even though many disagree with me.
Vice Mayor Harold Hanson begins with an introduction the meeting by welcoming everyone and
announcing that Mayor Hall is going to be absent. There was not a lot of people like I was
expecting, but it was still very interesting to hear all of the residents concerns and opinions. After

then do what is called appointment, that is when they go over what the residents proposed, and
they cast votes. They also ask questions about the propositions, do considerations, ask for time,
and finally take votes in the statements that where given that day. This whole process was very
informational because I learned so many things on what is going on in our community. I also
learned what is being done and I could see that most of the city council members have the best

Our Town Play Analysis
Our Town, a play by Thornton Wilder and Frank Craven, is an incomplex play about everyday
life. Yet it gives a strong message about cherishing every second of life. Donald Margulies depicts
the theme of Our Town in the Foreword. Margulies gives a stupendous analysis and accurate
descriptions of the theme. Margulies begins his foreword by trying to show how important the
message of Our Town is, that one should cherish every small moment in life as death can come in
an instant, by commenting on the fact that in order to understand the point of the play, is to watch
a commendable production of the play. Actors who portray the characters in our town need to be
good at their job in order to feel the emotion of the characters and to understand the lessons of
everyday life. Margulies also mentions the different... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It wasn t the characters or the storyline that changed. It was Margulies. Another point of
excellence of the foreword in Our Town is the description of how the play is nothing but life
itself. Margulies describes it as simple. This shows the majority of people s lives as most people
do not live extravagant lives with ten cars and a prodigious mansion. Instead it shows the
everyday life lessons that a simple life can give. Margulies also comments the modernity of Our
Town in the time it was written, 1937. Plays and production during the time period usually
involved great set pieces and dazzling costumes, but WIlder strips the stage except for a few
furniture pieces and props to keep the mind of the audience off of the production and onto the
message that Our Town gives. Margulies states, Anyone who dismisses Our Town as an idealized
view of American life has failed to see the impieties and hypocrisies depicted in WIlder s vision.
He states that Our Town is not just another story for entertainment, but a story that gives a vital
message about life that needs to be taken

Twelfth Night Viola
In Act 1 of Shakespeare s Twelfth Night, Olivia falls for the reinvented identity of Viola, Cesario
, the character she embodies along with her physical change. During her appearance earlier in the
act, Orsino orders Viola to unfold the passion of my love (1.5.27). In the interaction between
Olivia and Cesario , the actions Viola performs are merely for the expression of her disguise.
Even the compliments where Viola refers to Olivia as radiant, exquisite, and unmatchable beauty
(1.5.169) are part of her cover to seem like a gentleman. Her dialogue about lovewhere she explains
how my lord and master loves you (1.5.252) and that if I did love you in my master s flame

Analysis Of Light Weight Aggregate ( LWA )
Light Weight Aggregate (LWA) has gained good acknowledgment in the field of Civil
Engineering for more than 70 years. It is mostly used for cast in place structural light weight
concrete for skyscrapers and bridge deck and is now greatly used for geotechnical application
(Holm and Valsangkar,1993). LWA is an alternative for accelerated backfill. Formed of shales,
clays, and slates, when heated in rotary kilns at temperatures over 1100ЛљC. The heating process
makes LWA strong, durable, and light weight due to its expandable nature. LWA is been used in
asphalt road, concretebridge deck, concrete masonry, MSE walls, and other Civil engineering
projects. The recent improvement in the usage of LWA in the field of geotechnical engineering

In this experiment, the EPS was used for raising a road section on the embankment in Oslo, which
had failed due to high settlement during an earthquake. They concluded that EPS as a backfill for
road embankment had less settlement but was still vulnerable during an earthquake.
Yoon et al. (2009) case study on the effectiveness of fly ash and bottom ash mixture as backfill
material in the embankment located in Terre Haute, Indiana was demonstrated and monitored for
one year. Fly ash and bottom ash are by products of coal combustion, they are produced in ample
quantities throughout the world out of which about million tons are produced in the USA every
year. The study showed negligible settlement of the soil layer when fly and bottom ash mixture was
used as a backfill material in the embankment. They concluded that the ash mixture can be used as
an alternative to the conventional backfill materials.
Alleman et al. (1996) studied the environmental impact caused by the ash mixture when used as a
backfill material in the embankment. The study showed the leaching of trace metals from the ash
mixture when used as a backfill material in the embankment. They concluded that the leaching of
trace metal from the backfill caused the ground water contamination in nearby fields.

Edmund Spenser Research Paper
Edmund Spenser was born into a relatively poor family in East Smithfield, London, England in
1552 (there remains a degree of ambiguity to the exact date of his birth). This information is
acquired from sonnet lx. in the Amoretti where he speaks of having lived 41 years, as of 1595.
Although he was related to an affluent and noble Midlands family of Spencer, his own
immediate family was not particularly wealthy. There also remains some ambiguity to the
specificities of Spenser s childhood, though it is known that he was entered as a poor boy in the
Merchant Taylor s grammar school, where he studied primarily Latin, with specks of Hebrew,
Greek, and music thrown in sporadically. Edmund Spenser began his illustrious writing career as
early as 16, as there are poems of his found in a miscellany, by the name of Theatre for Worldlings,
that are accredited to being... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This expansive knowledge of the traditional forms and themes of lyrical and narrative poetry
offered sufficient foundations for the formulation of his own highly original compositions. Without
the study of the Roman epic poet Virgil s Aeneid, the 15th century Ludovico Ariosto s Orlando
furioso, and, later, Torquato Tasso s Gerusalemme liberate, Spenser would not of been able to create
his heroic, or epic, poem The Faerie Queene. Without Virgil s Bucolics, and the later tradition of
pastoral poetry in Italy and France, Spenser would not have came up with and written the The
Shepheardes Calender. Lastly, without the Latin, Italian, and French examples of the highly
traditional marriage ode and the sonnet and canzone forms of Petrarch and succeeding sonneteers,
Spenser could not have written his most notable lyric, Epithalamion, and its accompanying sonnets,

Polyethylene Research Paper
Around 150 years ago, there was no such thing as plastic or any synthetic materials that were
widely used. The invention of plastic gave us the ability to produce materials that cannot be made
from natural substances alone. At first the benefit of creating synthetic materials was greatly
overlooked for many years, but over time the benefits became more evident. Polyethylene s first
discovery was actually made on accident. In 1899, Hans von Pechmann discovered polyethylene at
the bottom of a test tube in his laboratory (Sharp 18). He was convinced that this chemical was a
waste product that could be found after chemical reactions had taken place. Making this
assumption, he disregarded the chemical for what seemed to be practical reasons at the... Show

In fact the 1950 s and 1960 s showed a time of great expansion for the uses of plastic materials. So
much so that in 1976, plastic surpassed steel in becoming the most widely used material (Greer
A.25.). With the major technological advancements that occurred around this time in the 1970
s, many technological products today now contain polyethylene or other plastic materials. Some
examples of current technological products that are composed of polyethylene include DVDs,
computer and video games and CDs (Bell 17). It has been proven that the use of polyethylene in
these products has also increased the audio and video capabilities of these products greatly (Bell
17). CDs made in the last several decades are made from an injection molded [form of]
polyethylene and this material makes the CD less likely to wear down over time (Bell 17). Our
entertainment would be of a much lower quality if polyethylene wasn t used in making CDs and
we might have to rely on other forms of

Dancing Skeltons
Dancing Skeletons In the ethnography, Dancing Skeletons, the author Katherine Dettwyler
describes many reasons for her research in Mali. The main focus of her research was too attack
the problem of malnourished children and to figure out what diseases they were struggling with.
This ethnography detailed Dettwyler s second trip to Mali, and she wanted to relocate many of
the children she had previously measured, as well as add more children to her study. Throughout
the ethnography, Dettwyler makes it very clear that the malnutrition of these children is a major
problem in Mali. She describes many of the children she measures and the picture she paints in one
s mind is horrifying. One of the many diseases she comes across is Kwashiorkor,... Show more

This provided good insight into how these children should be nourished and more facts like that
would have helped the overall effect of the ethnography. The final thing I wish Dettwyler looked
more into was the male/female relationship and how the males felt about the female gender. I do
not know if she didn t address this because she had limited interaction with the males because of
her gender, or whether it was simply of no interest to her. If she could have explained further
why she didn t take much account to this it would have added a more well rounded ethnography.
What roles did the fathers play in the child raising? Were they passive like it appeared or was it
just not discussed? Dettwyler displayed tremendous anthropological skills as well as some not
so good skills. A good thing she did was build a high amount rapport with the Malians. This was
important so they would allow her to measure them, and also so they would trust her when she
taught them how to properly nourish their children. In the text she almost always displays a calm
and intellectual demeanor when she is speaking to parents about their badly diseased or injured
child. She has seen so many things that she is not surprised as too what she will see next and it
helps her keep her composure. One time she didn t

New Moon Essay
New Moon by Stephenie Meyer This book was quite suspenseful. While the series is known as
being mainly romantically based, New Moon contains a great deal of mystery. At the beginning,
Bella is unwrapping a present while at the house of her boyfriend (who just so happens to be a
vampire). His family is there, too, so when she gets a paper cut on her finger and then falls onto
a glass table and slices her arms up, it s a disaster. With all that blood, it definitely seems like the
vampires would devour her. However, they don t. A few days later, Edward moves away because
he believes it s too dangerous for them to be together. This leaves you wondering if he ll ever
come back. Then, Bella finds that if she... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Things then turn desperate as Edward is slowly pulling away from her. The next part of the book
is the part that s always the hardest for me to read. The tone of the middle part is incredibly
devastated until Bella meets Jacob. Then a little hope comes through because he s finally
getting her happy once again. While she s still in love with Edward, things are better when
Jacob is around. A bit of time passes, and then the book gets suspenseful and tense because Bella
nearly kills herself by cliff jumping. Edward thinks that she is actually dead, so he is going to
attempt to kill himself, and Bella has to try to rescue him. My favorite quote from the book is
said by Bella a few months after Edward has left. She feels that her life has basically ended, and
she s spent the past few months in a zombie like state. The quote is, Time passes. Even when it
seems impossible. Even when each tick of the second hand aches like the pulse behind a bruise.
It passes unevenly, in strange lurches and dragging lulls, but pass it does. Even for me. Another
quote that gets me every time I think about it is said by Edward after him and Bella are reunited
at the end. It is, Before you, Bella, my life was like a moonless night. Very dark, but there were
stars points of light and reason. And then you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly
everything was on fire; there was brilliancy, there

On Friday, December 16, 2016, at 5:40 PM, Officers Patrick Daugherty and Frank Miller were
working a uniformed assignment in cruiser 9022, and were dispatched to 1464 E. 26th Ave., on a

Upon arrival, Officers Miller and Daugherty made contact with the caller, Louise Hall, who
refused to secure the dog, but advised Officers Miller and Daugherty the dog was caught along

included displaying its teeth, barking, growling, biting the wooden and chain link fencing, and

Fearing the dog would again free itself, Officers Miller and Daugherty both discharged their

Trade Between The Maya And Aztec People
When in fact chocolate hails from Mexico and cacao was actually used as currency between the
Maya and Aztec people (Dyke, n.d.). It was also used for various medicinal purposes, from
stomach ailments, fever to infections (Dyke, n.d.). The piГ±ata is something else we associate
with Mexico. It actually has a long history of how it came about to what we think of today.
Marco Polo, while in China witnessed a celebration where a clay bull filled with seeds was hit

Mexican PiГ±ata , n.d.). This idea of clay pots made to be broken for celebrations spread to other

Relationship Between Grey And Cameron
The relationship between Grey and Cameron deteriorated rapidly throughout the Waikato Wars.
Grey was constantly searching for one determining knockout blow to defeat Maori forces, while
Cameron was a realist who realised that attacking the Maori Pa head on was suicidal. This
difference in opinion led to the two men arguing constantly which had a profound impact on the war.
The Waikato Wars (1863 1864) were a component of the New ZealandWars which were active
from 1845 to 1872. The wars have also commonly been known as the Maori Wars or the Land
Wars . During these wars there was a huge divide in society. Many people debate whether these
wars were over land or sovereignty. The New Zealand wars were a series of individual battles
between the higher government and various Maori tribes.
The Wars were caused by a miss understanding of ownership between Maori and Pakeha. When the
British settlers came to New Zealand they thought that the Maori were utilising the land like they
should. The settlers wanted to buy the land off the Maori but they refused. But of course, they all
had different views. Maori pass on land from generations and inherit it from their ancestors, whereas
Pakeha can just trade the land more money.
Grey and Cameron s relationship deteriorated hugely during the Invasion of the Waikato. Sir
George Grey (born 1812) made a huge impact on New Zealand during the Waikato Wars. He played
a lead role in the wars between 1863 and 1864.

Field Study on Helping Behavior
Abstract
The aim of this field study was to examine helping behavior among passerbies in crowded and
non crowded areas. The study was carried out in an informal manner where the actor would lie
down in the given areas, and the observers would record the amount of people who stopped to
help or enquire. Due to the concept of the study, the passerby s were the indirect participants and
the objective of the study was discreetly disclosed to each passerby who bent down to offer
assistance. Results showed that people tend to show more concern and interest in a less crowded
area.

Gradually, people will tend to feel less and less responsible for their actions towards other
individuals especially those whom they do not know (Levine, 2003).
Other than that, F. Stephen Bridges and Neil P. Coady(1996) carried out a study on helpfulness
using a technique called lost letters where 420 lost, stamped letters were dropped carefully and
equally in shop isles, besides public pay phones and sidewalks across Broward County in
Florida. A total of 210 letters were dropped in the cities and the remaining 210 in smaller towns
across the county, as the aim was to find out which location had a higher return rate of letters.
The envelopes consisted of addresses of two normal addresses addressed to B. J. Wilson (control
group) and Dandee Wilson as well as three social deviant addresses which were Prostitute
Education , Legalized Prostitution , and Safer Hustling . However, out of the 420 letters that were
scattered across the county, only 199 were mailed back from both the locations combined. The
results took an unexpected twist and showed that there was a larger figure of return rates from the
cities in contrast to the small towns (Bridges amp; Coady, p. 309).
The hypothesis is that passerby s would portray more helping attitudes and behaviors in non
crowded areas and would appear to be less helpful in crowded settings. This is in line with the
research conducted by Lattane and Dabbs (1975), suggesting that there is a correlation between the

Analysis Of Cormac Mccarthy s The Road
How Effectively Does McCarthy Create a
Sense of What a Post Apocalyptic
World Would be Like?
Cormac McCarthy creates a sense of what a post apocalyptic society in the novel The Road . He
does this by including dreams, description of the physical landscape and human behaviour. This
helps create a sense of a post apocalyptic world because it gives us insight into what it looks like
and how the people think.
McCarthy uses dreams as a recurring theme throughout the text in order to create his post
apocalyptic world. The novel opens with a dream, in which the author creates a monster. The
author uses dreams to create a contrast between a perfect dream world and the cold, dark terrifying
world that the characters live in now. Its bowels, its beating heart. The brain that pulsed in a dull
glass bell . This could be the author creating a metaphor for the horror that the characters are about
to face throughout the book.
Towards the middle of the book the man says that The right dreams for a man in peril were
dreams of peril and all else was the call of languor and death. He dreamt of walking in a
flowering wood where birds flew before them... but he was learning how to wake himself from
such siren worlds... with the uncanny taste of a peach from some phantom orchard fading in his
mouth... The father feels this because his reality and his life are so terrible, he can only have
perilous dreams because if he were to have dreams that were soft, pleasant and warming then they

Importance Of Sports In Arthur Ashe s Days Of Grace
Not 1...Not 2...Not 3...Not Just Championships: The Importance of Having Life Sports
Arthur Ashe, a professional tennis player who won three Grand Slam titles, spent many of his
last days writing his memoir, Days of Grace. In the chapter My Dear Camera, Ashe writes to his
daughter giving her advice for a future without her father, and in that advice suggests that she
finds a couple life sports . Another author, David Halberstam, writes of the importance of sports in
his book The Teammates, describing the bond and friendship that baseball players Ted Williams,
Dom DiMaggio, Bobby Doerr, and John Pesky had throughout their baseball careers as well as
after their baseball careers were over. In both of these quotes, Ashe and Halberstam demonstrate...

Both stories are told from the perspective of players who are retired and nearing the ends of their
own lives. Ashe s quote states the comfort and pleasure for life sports provide outright, but the
context of the quote shows how important it is to find a life sport. Ashe could have been doing
anything in his last years, and he chose to write a message to his daughter giving her advice and
including how important sports are life long. Meanwhile, Halberstam does this through the
example of Williams, Doerr, DiMaggio, and Pesky and how the bond and character traits they
took away from their baseball careers would provide comfort even in times of hardship.
Halberstam s quote displays the pleasure that these baseball players got from the game, and how that
pleasure lasted life long. Both Ashe and Halberstam show that the internal qualities that a life sport
provides are more important than the wins or championships that come from playing

The Third Man Sparknotes
The Third Man published in 1949 by Graham Green is a fascinating book. Graham Green (1904
1991) was said to be one of the greatest novelists of the twentieth century, writing everything
from short stories, autobiographies, to children s books. What I found most interesting about
the book was that the whole story is told from the viewpoint of Major Calloway and not from
Rollo Martins. This is determined from the beginning of the book that Rollo Martins, a broke
writer from London, has been presented as a man who is loyal and believes that friendship is
almost like a marriage. It is evident when he arrives at the cemetery in Vienna and is told by
Calloway that the body being buried is his best friend from childhood, Harry Lime. Rollo Martins...

Martins at that point decides to go home and then tell Calloway: I ll be getting back to England
(Greene 110). Martins gained some hope from an inspiration to investigate accusations to find
out if they were true when he believed he saw a figure that resembled Lime. Later in the book,
Martins set up a meeting with Lime and hearing Lime s own confession, Martins belief and
loyalty in his best friend disappeared completely because Lime s disregard for human life
produces a sad disappoint for Martins. Lime won t stop committing penicillin racketeering, so
Martins thinks it s up to him to do something to stop it. This fact brings evidence in showing that
Martins opinion of humanism must be placed over friendship. He decides to tell Calloway that he
will provide assistance to the police to help arrest Lime. By making this decision and the fact that
Martins manages to kill Lime, Greene, undoubtedly, wanted to convey that no matter how strong a
friendship may be, that it means very little compared to the value of human life. Last, it is
interesting to look at the use of viewpoint used to help express the theme of the book The Third
Man as perceived through Calloway s point of view. By using Calloway s point of view, Greene
interprets the theme through the viewpoint

Informative Essay On Cane Corso
Having a dog can be a big responsibility, they come in all shapes and sizes with their own sets of
requirements. There are so many breeds to choose from, one of the breeds that stand out is the
Cane Corso also known as the Italian Mastiff , from its long history and its distinct features this
dog is an amazing choice. These canines may look frightening at first, but if you get a little closer
you will see that they are very kind and friendly.
The Cane Corso breed originates from Italy, but it can be traced from a far older breed called the
Canis Pugnax , which was used as a Roman war dog in the first century. These creatures were used
for protection and even to fight in arenas against lions and other wild animals. The Canis Pugnax

INTRODUCTION LITERATURE REVIEW The current economic crisis has become a major
concern of all nations today. It has led policymakers and economists to rethink about the instrument
for economics stability. One of the most damaging consequences of this crisis is the consumption
instability, which negatively affects risk adverse agents welfare. As mentioned by Athahasoulis and

detrimental consequences for the accumulation of human capital and physical capital. Therefore,

Personal Conspiracy Theories Of Kurt Cobain s Death
Kurt Donald Cobain, born February 20th in 1967, was an American musician who helped to

Kurt was devastated by the separation of his parents and he often wrote in his journals how
much he hated his parents because they hated each other. Many of Kurt s friends and peers
revealed that Kurt would often mention suicide and death. Like many of his idols from a very
young age, Kurt killed himself in the midst of his prime years in his life and career. When Kurt
was much younger he had walked to school like he did every day. On this particular day,
however, he came upon the body of a young boy who had hung himself. The boy turned out to be
the brother of Kurt s friend. He sat there and watched the boy s body twist in the wind for hours
until he was forced by administrators to look away. This was a very defining moment in Kurt s
life in which left a long lasting suicidal imprint. From that day forward Cobain s friends note that
Kurt talked about suicide every day and the boy who hung himself. Kurt would often play games
involving him acting out many deaths and suicides. His journal was filled with entries involving

The Tax Rate And Private Savings Essay
Figure (7) may work as another evidence of the inability of Egyptian tax system to mobilize
domestic savings, as it shows that while domestic private savings, as a percent of GDP, was
fluctuating around a downward sloping trend, marginal tax rate was fluctuating around a relatively
horizontal trend which indicates that marginal taxrate has no or insignificant power over stimulating
domestic private savings.
Figure 7.Marginal Tax Rate and Private Domestic Savings to GDP Source: Author s calculations
based on data extracted from Ministry of Finance, Monthly Financial Report, different editions.
To verify this conclusion, the effect of main sources of tax revenue (taxes on income, taxes on
property, taxes on goods and services and tariff) on domestic savings will be examined
statistically. The only source of tax revenue that has statistically significant effect on domestic
savings is property tax. Tax on properties is negatively related to domestic savings with
coefficient 12, see appendix (3). Accordingly, small reduction in property taxes will have
magnitude increase in domestic savings. Thus, if financial markets are operating efficiently, tax
cut on properties will have a considerable positive effect on the process of economic growth,
especially since property taxes represent only 3.6%, in average, of total tax revenue.
While domestic saving is a leakage of income that flows outside the economy; however, it can be re
injected in the economy again

What To Expect When You Get A Home Energy Audit
If your power bills are higher than your friends or neighbors, yet you still feel too hot or too cold

it could have single pane windows and inadequate insulation. Before you spend a lot of money on
upgrades, it s best to have an energy audit so you know exactly what needs to be done. Here are
some of the things that are examined during the audit.
Power Bills And Lifestyle
The first thing the auditor will do is examine your lifestyle and look at things like how many
people live in your home, the thermostat and hot water heater settings, how often you use the
washer and dishwasher, and whether you have a pool. Next, he or she examines your power bill to
see how much energy you consume. You ll want to gather bills over several months so the auditor
can see your energy consumption during various seasons of the year.
Physical Examination
Next, the auditor makes a complete physical examination of your home. On the exterior he or she
looks for gaps and cracks that allow air to leak into or out of your home. The auditor checks the
roof and type of windows you have. The inside is examined thoroughly for amount and type of

The Importance Of Gender Equality In Youth Sports
Youth sports help children to develop many skills such as teamwork and coordination which can
be useful in other aspects of life and can be transferable into many career fields later in life. There
are not many girls playing contact sports. Youth football has a very large portion of male athletes
and far less femaleathletes. This is due to many factors and barriers created when the organizations
that run youth football leagues may have trouble recruiting young girls, have trouble guaranteeing
the safety of young athletes, and may even discourage young girls from participating in programs.
Genderequality is important for the betterment of society. It is an enduring concept of human life.
Gender equality has been improved due to the increasing number of female players participating in
youth football programs across the country and their inspirational fights to play the sport.
Gender equality is an important part of society. In an article on why everyone should be concerned
about what is happening with equality and should be supportive of advances in equality, the article
emphasizes how important equality is to the future of young women and girls for their careers
(Huhman). Female employees can sometimes be treated unfairly or be held to a higher standard
than their male colleagues. Women who take on leadership positions in their companies or
careers are able to help make improvements in gender equality and in the workplace. Additionally,
in another article, women work together to be activists for equality in sports and work to
normalize the participation of girls in sports often dominated by ale participants (Yi and Bhalla).
By working to make seeing girls in sports more common, girls are inspired to join sports by other
female athletes. This creates a ripple effect and eventually causes more girls to take on leadership
positions on teams and higher roles in their sports. Many of these girls can carry on these
leadership qualities at school and eventually as young women in the workforce. By inspiring these
young female athletes to take on these roles and to inspire others, they can promote gender equality
and normalize the idea of females playing contact sports. While there are some organizations that

The Workingmen s Party Of California Summary
The Workingmen s Party of California and How It Compares To Ideals of Today The
Workingmen s Party of California was an American labor organization led by Denis Kearney.
Created in 1877, the Party s goal was to unite all poor and working men into one political party.
The Workingmen s Party had some interesting goals, however, some ideas were a bit too radical.
Although this Association is over a century old, the mindset of it is still around today. Certain
ideals of the Workingmen s party can be found in two distinct people, Bernie Sanders and
Donald Trump. It might seem wild comparing these two together, but when it comes to the
Workingmen s Party they have a bit in common. Democratic socialist Bernie Sanders shares
many of the same views as the Workingmen s Party. Firstly, Bernie s mission was taking the
power from the rich and placing it into the hands of the people where it belongs. Sanders and the
Party also both wanted to destroy land monopoly by creating laws, and to destroy the power of
the rich by a system of taxation. A Robin Hood Tax System, which wants to Take from the rich

Anaconda Analysis
Operation Anaconda: Lessons of Unsound Planning
For the first eighteen days of March in the spring of 2002, coalition forces fought Al Qaeda and
the Taliban for the Shah i Kot Valley. The operation was named Anaconda because the intent of the
coalition forces was to surround and squeeze the Al Qaeda and Talibanforces in the Shah i Kot
Valley into suppression and destroy them. Operation Anaconda was the most aggressive plan of
Operation Enduring Freedom to that point, and ultimately, was a decisive coalition victory that
resulted in fragmented enemy forces in the area for years. However, during Operation Anaconda,
the Coalition Joint Task Force Commander and his staff made fundamental errors in the Joint
Operation Planning Process (JOPP) through assumptions, command relations, and unity of

Assumptions
The United States Army 10th Mountain Division Commander (CJTF Mountain) accepted the
command and planning of Operation Anaconda in early February. The overall plan, originally
devised and designed by Special Operation Forces Command, called for coalition forces led by
Afghan Soldiers to drive into the Shah i Kot Valley while other U.S. forces and Afghan troops held
a blocking position. Based on intelligence estimates, CJTF Mountain and his staff planned for the
Al Qaeda and Taliban forces to flee into the mountains where U.S. forces were waiting to capture
them. Unfortunately, CJTF Mountain and his staff made many assumptions based on unverified

This has directly lead to the cost of genome sequencing to sharp decline. Before the project the
cost to map out a human genome was one billion dollars, after the project was completed it had to
decline to ten to 50 million dollars. Now, ten years after the completion of the Human Genome
Project the cost to map out a human genome is only three to five thousand dollars. ( Quantitative
Advances Since the Human Genome Project (HGP) ) This number is predicted to keep declining
as well, in part because of company competition and the increase popularity of genetic mapping.
Another reason is because the National Human Genome Research Institute has new goals to
expand the use of genetic mapping which includes finding ways to lower the cost of genome
sequencing to less than a thousand dollars. It would be a huge feat but a goal the Institute could
manage to realize in the next ten years. ( Decade of Genomics NHGRI Celebrates 10th Anniversary

There was a little unforeseen additional to the National Institutes of Health, which is the Cancer
Genome Atlas. The whole goal of this program is to use genetic mapping to its full potential when
it comes to cancer research, diagnosis, treatment and prevention. The National Cancer Institute
parented with the National Human Genome Research Institute, to conduct a wide spread, large

bound up with the way lives are given narrative shape (Sheringham, Packet Page 45). Choosing to
See: A Journey of Struggle and Hope is not about the conversion of the author, Mary Beth
Chapman, but a definite turning point in her life, the death of her five year old daughter, Maria.
The book chronicles the major life lessons that she has learned, like understanding the concept of
grace and trusting Godwith parenthood, but ultimately, it is the after effects of Maria s death that

Steven Curtis Chapman s career eventually kicked off and now he is one of the most famous
Contemporary Christian musicians in the business. Throughout her marriage, Mary Beth has had to
balance all the duties of wifehood and motherhood with Steven s everchanging touring and work
schedules.
The first major lesson that Mary Beth Chapman learned was the concept of grace. The question of
whether you can earn your salvation or if it is given to you by God is debated across various
denominations of Christianity. Mary Beth talks about her struggle with salvation in chapters three
though eleven of her book. Mary Beth Chapman was raised in a working class family in Indiana;
a place where you wore your best dress to church on Sunday. The Protestant Christian church that
she grew up in taught her that she had be a good person, work hard and earn her salvation. ...I
grew up with the idea that Christians don t sin, they have faults...I knew I had a relationship with
God, but at what point did the big, far off God in the sky get mad enough or disappointed enough
to look at my faults and see them as sins? And if they were sins, was I really saved to begin with?
(Chapman 30).
Mary Beth did her best to play the part and be a well behaved Christian woman, but she felt
hallow inside. When she had sex before marriage, her good girl streak was gone and her
relationship with God was severely damaged.

Pros And Cons Of Betting On Horse Racing
Whether you are new to betting on horse racing or not, I hope that you ll find this article useful
as it explains three different channels for betting on horse racing. They are all quite different to
each other, and there are nuances that if you re not sure about them, could mean you don t win
as much as you should. It will also help you to understand which way is more appropriate to the
way you want to bet, because different people prefer different methods. Maybe you re hoping to
interpret a horse racing tipster more effectively or maybe you just want to understand the basics.
Whichever you are, the following will give you a grounding in what to look for. Betting on Horse

Once you have placed this type of bet, as a punter you know exactly what you are going to win
(or lose) right from the start, and so most people are comfortable with this type of bet since you
can manage your money more effectively, and this is so very important as a punter. Why Is
Spread Betting Different? Spread betting has become more popular in horse racing in recent
years, although it started out as being more popular in sports such as American football, rugby
and cricket; sports where there is potentially a large flexibility in the winning margin. It is also a
popular method of betting for those who trade the financial markets. Using this type of betting for
horse racing is definitely not for the beginner, nor the faint hearted, as there is generally the
possibility that you do not know how much you stand to lose if you re unfortunate enough to do
so. To explain this as concisely as possible, spread betting on horse racing is taking either the
jockey index, winning distance or the distance of places between individual horses, and so involves
a fair amount of guessing on the margin, known as the spread between

Yucca Plants And Yucca Moths
Yucca Plants and Yucca Moths: A Coevolutionary Point of View

BIOL 3700: Evolution
Maxence Salomon
Introduction
According to Thompson (1994), coevolution is defined as the reciprocal evolutionary change in
interacting species . This occurs when one species has a significant effect on the survival or
reproductive success of another species and vice versa, leading to the gradual evolution of both
species. It is important to study this topic, as it is possible that the evolution of a majority of the
world s life forms was affected by the coevolution occurring between plants and insects (Smith et
al., 2009). It is generally accepted that there are three forms in which coevolution can take place ...

Coevolution in this scenario occurs by selection for those organisms from both taxa which possess
trait which allow them to take the best advantage of this mutualism relative to their conspecifics. An
example of this relationship is the plant pollinator interaction between yucca plants and yucca
moths.
While the relationship between yucca plants (Family Agavaceae) and yucca moths (Genus
Tegeticula and Parategeticula) can be defined as mutualistic, it is more than an ordinary mutualism
(Sheppard and Oliver, 2002). In a generic mutualistic relationship, both organisms gain fitness
benefits from the interaction, but are not dependent on each other for survival. In the yucca plant
yucca moth interaction, the yucca moth provides essential cross pollination services to the yucca
plant, and the yucca plant provides a predator free location for the yucca moth to lay its eggs, as
well as providing nutrition for the larvae in the form of some of its seeds (Moisett, n.d.). Since the
interaction between these two organisms is necessary for the survival of their species, it is called
an obligate mutualism (Lunau, 2004). The relationship between the yucca plants and yucca moths
serves as the theme for the remainder of this paper.
Objectives
To discuss the widely accepted hypothesis for the evolutionary mechanism behind the yucca plant
yucca moth relationship.
To discuss the pre existing adaptations required by these organisms for the facilitation of

Observing William Penn s Photography
I Description
At first glance I notice this Irving Penn photograph seems mysterious and blurry, much like a lot
of his works of art. He uses the blurring technique to make you wonder more in detail what is
going on in the photo. When researching, I found most of his works are portraits unlike Cretan
Landscape. Irving Penn was known as a photographer whose classical simplicity transformed the
pages of Vogue magazine. There are very few great portraitists, but he is a sort of sorcerer who
seems beyond resemblance. Irving Penn s Cretan Landscape was a rather large photograph at
15.4x22in. However, it still showcases the magnificent artwork that Irving Penn is capable of.
When looking at this photograph, I first think that the man on the horse is the main focus, almost
as if he is in charge over everyone else in the picture. I also notice the animals in the back ground
almost like cattle, things like sheep and cows. What I don t understand about this photograph is the
shadows of people behind him. I don t understand their meaning in this picture. I also don t
understand why this photograph s setting is in the deep woods, almost as if they are all hiding
from something. Penn stays in a strict color scheme, using multiple shades of gray staying dark
around the sides and moving to lighter shades in the center spaces. He blends these colors going
through the many prints he used in the platinum metals and then slowly blends the more distinct
colors when the hand coated color

Collective Bargaining Agreement Analysis
The most recent Collective Bargaining Agreement between San Luis Coastal Unified School
District and the San Luis Coastal Teachers Association contains clauses that are of substantial
benefit to the district, though some of the clauses included are not. A close analysis of the
agreement reveals a wide variety of stakeholders with varying needs, from the schoolboard and
administrative personnel to all regular permanent and probationary certificated employees (full time
and part time), including, but not limited to, counselors, librarians, resource teachers, etc. When
negotiating, the district must take the needs of all stakeholders into account, and must find a way
to work through the challenges that are present. Teacher associations... Show more content on

With the lack of high quality research related to the effects of class size on student achievement,
there is not a valid argument for decreasing class size in our schools. Additionally, taking on the
extra 1 2 students in each class will only help with master scheduling issues and course offerings.
If we continue to reduce class size, our students are the ones who will be negatively impacted as
we will be unable to provide certain courses for all students. There are instances when a teacher
may have one to two sections of a given class, and if we are a few students over, those students
cannot take the course they want, or possibly need. This is not an issue we want to face, nor do we
want to deny our students a proper education that fits their own individual needs. The flexibility of
being able to include up to 36 students in any one class ensures that there is enough space for
more of our students. In an effort to convince the Teachers Association to concede to this change,
it is appropriate to offer them something in return. In this instance, it may be fitting to offer to
keep elementary class size pupil teacher ratio to 1:28, making it clear that we will not ask to
increase their class size if they agree to the 4 12 growth. Increasing class size is vital for the
district as we are forging ahead into uncertain times with the closing of our primary source of
revenue, Diablo Canyon. We have to be

Astrology Signs
The astrology signs go in this order: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio,
Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces. You ve probably heard about fire signs, earth signs, air
signs, and water signs. These are the four elements. Twelve signs divided by four elements equals
3 signs per element. If you start with Aries as the first fire sign, then just skip to every 4th sign,
you ll see that the fire signs are Aries, Leo and Sagitarrius. Taurus is the first earth sign, then Virgo
and Capricorn. Gemini is the first air sign, then Libra and Aquarius. Cancer is the first water sign,
then Scorpio and Pisces.
So what does a fire sign mean? These signs tend to burn hard and fast. They start strong and then
can flame out just as quickly as they began. Do you know a person with a Aries, Leo or Sagittarius
Sun? Then you may notice that these people are a little more intensely emotional, whether that be
in happiness or anger. They may likely be more honest. And they may likely be more likely to take
action quickly and with no holds barred. These are generalities, of course. Other planets in a person

The Trojan War In The Illiad
Since the ancient times, humans have been fascinated with stories and mythology, things that are
regarded as fictional yet compelling because of the quality of the character s character and the plot
obscurely grounded in reality. As newer technologies and the myths of old collide, fascinating
discoveries and links are made, especially in one most notable tale: the Trojan War. While historians
and literary scholars continue to examine the most famous account of this war the Illiad more
insight is gathered about the authentic time frame, setting, causes, characters, resolutions,
ramifications, and resounding themes of this event. Furthermore, some scholars extend beyond the
war itself and dissect the journey of Odysseus, one of Greek mythology s epic heroes also
introduced in the telling of the Trojan War, all in hopes of finding what elements these timeworn
pieces of literature can offer to today s world, and what exactly happened all those centuries ago.
Now, from these discoveries of new archaeological, geographical, and historical evidences, modern
day historians are reexamining the truthfulness of Homer s myths. To establish anything as true, of
course, naturally lends itself to the question of where and when the event happened. The Trojan
War is not an exception to this convention, and fortunately, most historians agree that a site in
northwestern Turkey, known as Hisarlik, is the most probable location of ancient Troy. In this site,
which was discovered by Heinrich

Compare And Contrast The Whiskey Rebellion And Daniel Shays
Destiny Manston per.4 Dept, Taxes, and Daniel Shays Daniel Shays Rebellion took place during
the time of America s post war depression that from 1784 1787. The rebellion fits into the theme
of culture and society . The confederation had an enormous debt that had built up during the
Revolutionary War. Congress showed its weakness that weighed heavily on debtors and having
no power to tax. The confederation could only make requisition on the states but even then could
only receive one sixth of the money. Robert Morris and his Philadelphia allies had an idea for a
centralized government after the flaws found in the Articles of Confederation. Because the states
also had post war dept, they had to rely on taxation to get payed back. The increase of taxation
caused Nationalists to became outraged toward the government who felt that they were being
treated unfairly (and in some cases felt that the government was being tyrannical). The burdened
farmers demanded paper money to fulfill the obligations. The effect of the increased burdens of
debt and taxation caused farmers to riot periodically in various parts of New England in the late
1700s. The Dissidents from Connecticut Valley and Berkshire Massachusetts rallied behind Daniel
Shay who was a former captain of the Continental army. An example of something similar
happening was the Whiskey Rebellion. Both revolts include an anarchy that called for the
modifying of the government. Shay called for a changing of

Carports Research Paper
Why should you prefer carports than garage? You need to protect your car from the harsh
weather when not in use. For that you can either build a garage or a carport. If you re just hoping
to keep the sun from beating up your car s paint job all day, a covered carport is probably all you
need. What is a carport? A carport is a small structure usually used to protect cars from the
outside elements. The structure can be attached to a wall or free standing. Carports more often
than not are open to both sides. However, one can also find those that are partially or completely
closed. Carports usually come in three types: single, double and triple carports. The type of
design will depend on the number of vehicles one wants to store. If a person has two or three
vehicles, he or she can go for triple or double structures. The structure can be installed on a paved
surface, level ground, stem wall or even concrete slab. Carports can be made of timber or metal,
and the roof can be made from polycarbonate, Colorbond, Zincalume, or even other materials (such
as tiles).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first advantage of using a carport over a garage is the cost of installation. It will cost you
half as much to build a carport as a garage. The materials used for the construction of a carport is
cheaper than building a garage. Because a carport isn t an enclosed or liveable space, it s not
necessary to build fire rated walls or ceiling. You won t have to bother with so many city
regulations and fire safety considerations during construction. Carports are less massive so they fit
in with the architecture better. Since carport is more or less open, your car has plenty of natural
ventilation. A carport can be modified to suit a building or home. Design details such as gables can

Campbell Soup Compan Audit
Campbell Soup Company
Background
Campbell was founded shortly before the start of the Civil War. Abraham Anderson and Joseph
Campbell began manufacturing canned vegetables and fruit preserves. In 1976, Campbell bought
out Anderson s interest and renamed the firm the Joseph Campbell Preserving Company. Later,
Arthur Dorrance was Campbell s new partner. In the early 1920s, John Dorrance, Arthur Dorrance s
nephew, was the sole owner of the Campbell Soup Company, which was the largest producer of
canned soup products. Unfortunately, as the twentieth century was coming to a close, the nation s
appetite for condensed soup products was waning. The weakening demand prompted the company s

In this case, Campbell pledged that in the future Campbell would provide proper accounting for
nonperformance related discounts, but they didn t. The auditors might be reckless because they did
not perform professional due care.
Shipping to the Yard
The plaintiffs pointed out that Campbell had recorded all customer sales on an FOB shipping
point basis. In fact, the actual shipping terms for many of Campbell s sales were FOB destination.
PwC was aware of this practice and had decided that since Campbell used the sales cutoff policy
consistently, it would not have a material effect on Campbell s operating results. The judge found
this conclusion reasonable and did not pursue the matter any further.
PwC s conclusion may reasonable and Campbell s practice may not have a material effect on
Campbell s operating results, but it still causes a misrepresenting report. An auditor should express
a explanation on the audit opinion.
Guaranteed Sales
Although this practice was not fraudulent, the plaintiffs insisted that Campbell had a responsibility
to record a reserve or allowance in anticipation of substantial customer returns likely to result from
theses sales. Despite the fact that a large percentage of product sold under guaranteed sales
contracts was returned, the company s accounting staff apparently never recorded appropriate
reserves for those sales returns. The plaintiffs charged that PwC must have known about Campbell s
bogus sales, but

The Reform Act Of 1867
Considerable progress was made in the European states toward liberal practices as constitutions and
parliaments, but the concept of mass reality became a reality. In the western European states,
parliamentary government was permanently rooted in these areas. As Britain and France
experienced the expansion for the right to vote, in Italy and Spain liberal reforms provided to be
the means of success. Reform in Great Britain took part because of their two functioning two party
parliamentary system and the growth of political democracy. The right to vote was brought to light
by the Reform Act of 1867, however William Gladstone further extended this right with the
Reform Act of 1884. This reform act allowed males who paid regular taxes and rent, by
enfranchising agricultural workers. Even though women were still denied the right to vote, the
passage of the Redistribution Act eliminated historic boroughs and countries and established
constituencies that contained one member for the House of Commons and have equal population
proportions. As the reform s became Great Britain s way of life, this was not the case for Ireland,
in which gradual reform failed to solve their problems.
Not quite like the political trends noticed in Great Britain, France had formed an independent
republic government in Paris, known as the Commune. Not only did the General Assembly crush
the Commune, but also women s roles were changed. Instead of women looking out for wounded
soldiers or caring for them,

The groupthink trap is a good trap to explain a time when I was trapped in the decision making
process. The groupthink trap is when majority of the group supports an idea and you do not
speak up even though you do not agree with the idea (LaForce, 2014). You either are not
confident enough to think you are right, or you do not want to cause a disagreement or conflict
(LaForce, 2014). My example: I was in a meeting with people who are a much higher up then me
and two of those people I do not feel confident around. Actually, one of those people I consider a
bully. The team was trying to come up with a solution to a problem. I can see that not everyone
agrees with the decision but yet, they are not speaking up. I too did not want to speak up,
because I did not want to cause conflict with the two people I mentioned above. I could see the
problem was not well defined, and it did not appear the decision made was not the accurate
solution for the real problem. In this case, I did not speak up, but since that meeting I have
realized that I was right to speak up. Unfortunately, at that time, I lacked the confidents to speak
up, but now I do. When I see others wanting to speak up, or are confused, not on the same page,
etc., I make a point to say something. In the end, there are times I caused conflict, but I allow our
customers to feel more conformable and I know what I did was right, and that conflict was worth it.
I have since learned when to pick my battles, when to take things off line, how to approach different
situations depending on the

  • 3. Counter Terrorism Alternatives By James Penney. English... Counter Terrorism Alternatives James Penney English Composition II Nikkele Shelton 25 August 2014 Counter Terrorism Alternatives In today s day and age, the fear of terrorism is not only a common sentiment, but is also a rising subject of debate. In order to keep troops out of harm s way, the United States has looked for alternate means of combatting terrorist organizations. Since September 11, 2001 the United States has relied heavily on its men and women in uniform to prevent terrorism abroad. Technology of today and the use of intelligence offer the United States alternate means of addressing terrorism. For instance, drone strikes were called by former US CIA director Leon Panetta, the only game in town in term of confronting or trying to disrupt the Al Qaeda leadership (ODLE, 2013). With the use of typology, socioeconomic assistance, drones, diplomatic engagement and enhanced airline security services, the use of military force is not the only way to prevent terrorism. If our country wants to never send another son or daughter to war then we must first understand who the terrorists are. Former President George Bush said we fight against poverty because hope is an answer to terror (Lee 2011). On the other hand, there are studies that say the opposite, that terrorism is not related to poverty. Poverty and education are very important factors of what violence occurs. The lower the poverty and education the increased chances for violence. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay On City Council Meeting The process of the City Council meeting was very interesting and long. There were many things that I learned in this meeting because it was the first meeting that I have been to for the city. Everything was planned and very organized in the meeting and they go down a schedule or list of what they will do first. The Mayor of the city of Bakersfield is the one to begin the meeting, but he was absent the day that I went so Vice Mayor Harold Hanson took his spot. He mentioned how the Mayor had not missed a meeting in such a long time that he can not even remember the last time he got to take his place. Hearing what the Vice Mayor said about the Mayor showed the residents of Bakersfield and I how important and how serious the Mayor takes his job. It showed that the Mayor really cares for the people of Bakersfield even though many disagree with me. Vice Mayor Harold Hanson begins with an introduction the meeting by welcoming everyone and announcing that Mayor Hall is going to be absent. There was not a lot of people like I was expecting, but it was still very interesting to hear all of the residents concerns and opinions. After the Vice... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 6. Our Town Play Analysis Our Town, a play by Thornton Wilder and Frank Craven, is an incomplex play about everyday life. Yet it gives a strong message about cherishing every second of life. Donald Margulies depicts the theme of Our Town in the Foreword. Margulies gives a stupendous analysis and accurate descriptions of the theme. Margulies begins his foreword by trying to show how important the message of Our Town is, that one should cherish every small moment in life as death can come in an instant, by commenting on the fact that in order to understand the point of the play, is to watch a commendable production of the play. Actors who portray the characters in our town need to be good at their job in order to feel the emotion of the characters and to understand the lessons of everyday life. Another point of excellence of the foreword in Our Town is the description of how the play is nothing but life itself. Margulies describes it as simple. This shows the majority of people s lives as most people do not live extravagant lives with ten cars and a prodigious mansion. Instead it shows the everyday life lessons that a simple life can give. Margulies also comments the modernity of Our Town in the time it was written, 1937. Plays and production during the time period usually involved great set pieces and dazzling costumes, but WIlder strips the stage except for a few furniture pieces and props to keep the mind of the audience off of the production and onto the message that Our Town gives. Margulies states, Anyone who dismisses Our Town as an idealized view of American life has failed to see the impieties and hypocrisies depicted in WIlder s vision. He states that Our Town is not just another story for entertainment, but a story that gives a vital message about life that needs to be taken ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They concluded that EPS as a backfill for road embankment had less settlement but was still vulnerable during an earthquake. Yoon et al. (2009) case study on the effectiveness of fly ash and bottom ash mixture as backfill material in the embankment located in Terre Haute, Indiana was demonstrated and monitored for one year. Fly ash and bottom ash are by products of coal combustion, they are produced in ample quantities throughout the world out of which about million tons are produced in the USA every year. The study showed negligible settlement of the soil layer when fly and bottom ash mixture was used as a backfill material in the embankment. They concluded that the ash mixture can be used as an alternative to the conventional backfill materials. Alleman et al. (1996) studied the environmental impact caused by the ash mixture when used as a backfill material in the embankment. The study showed the leaching of trace metals from the ash mixture when used as a backfill material in the embankment. • 9. Edmund Spenser Research Paper Edmund Spenser was born into a relatively poor family in East Smithfield, London, England in 1552 (there remains a degree of ambiguity to the exact date of his birth). This information is acquired from sonnet lx. in the Amoretti where he speaks of having lived 41 years, as of 1595. Although he was related to an affluent and noble Midlands family of Spencer, his own immediate family was not particularly wealthy. There also remains some ambiguity to the specificities of Spenser s childhood, though it is known that he was entered as a poor boy in the Merchant Taylor s grammar school, where he studied primarily Latin, with specks of Hebrew, Greek, and music thrown in sporadically. Edmund Spenser began his illustrious writing career as early as 16, as there are poems of his found in a miscellany, by the name of Theatre for Worldlings, that are accredited to being... This expansive knowledge of the traditional forms and themes of lyrical and narrative poetry offered sufficient foundations for the formulation of his own highly original compositions. Without the study of the Roman epic poet Virgil s Aeneid, the 15th century Ludovico Ariosto s Orlando furioso, and, later, Torquato Tasso s Gerusalemme liberate, Spenser would not of been able to create his heroic, or epic, poem The Faerie Queene. Without Virgil s Bucolics, and the later tradition of pastoral poetry in Italy and France, Spenser would not have came up with and written the The Shepheardes Calender. Lastly, without the Latin, Italian, and French examples of the highly traditional marriage ode and the sonnet and canzone forms of Petrarch and succeeding sonneteers, Spenser could not have written his most notable lyric, Epithalamion, and its accompanying sonnets, ... The invention of plastic gave us the ability to produce materials that cannot be made from natural substances alone. At first the benefit of creating synthetic materials was greatly overlooked for many years, but over time the benefits became more evident. Polyethylene s first discovery was actually made on accident. In 1899, Hans von Pechmann discovered polyethylene at the bottom of a test tube in his laboratory (Sharp 18). He was convinced that this chemical was a waste product that could be found after chemical reactions had taken place. Making this assumption, he disregarded the chemical for what seemed to be practical reasons at the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact the 1950 s and 1960 s showed a time of great expansion for the uses of plastic materials. So much so that in 1976, plastic surpassed steel in becoming the most widely used material (Greer A.25.). With the major technological advancements that occurred around this time in the 1970 s, many technological products today now contain polyethylene or other plastic materials. Some examples of current technological products that are composed of polyethylene include DVDs, computer and video games and CDs (Bell 17). It has been proven that the use of polyethylene in these products has also increased the audio and video capabilities of these products greatly (Bell 17). CDs made in the last several decades are made from an injection molded [form of] polyethylene and this material makes the CD less likely to wear down over time (Bell 17). The main focus of her research was too attack the problem of malnourished children and to figure out what diseases they were struggling with. This ethnography detailed Dettwyler s second trip to Mali, and she wanted to relocate many of the children she had previously measured, as well as add more children to her study. Throughout the ethnography, Dettwyler makes it very clear that the malnutrition of these children is a major problem in Mali. She describes many of the children she measures and the picture she paints in one s mind is horrifying. One of the many diseases she comes across is Kwashiorkor,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This provided good insight into how these children should be nourished and more facts like that would have helped the overall effect of the ethnography. The final thing I wish Dettwyler looked more into was the male/female relationship and how the males felt about the female gender. I do not know if she didn t address this because she had limited interaction with the males because of her gender, or whether it was simply of no interest to her. If she could have explained further why she didn t take much account to this it would have added a more well rounded ethnography. What roles did the fathers play in the child raising? Were they passive like it appeared or was it just not discussed? Dettwyler displayed tremendous anthropological skills as well as some not so good skills. A good thing she did was build a high amount rapport with the Malians. This was important so they would allow her to measure them, and also so they would trust her when she taught them how to properly nourish their children. In the text she almost always displays a calm and intellectual demeanor when she is speaking to parents about their badly diseased or injured child. She has seen so many things that she is not surprised as too what she will see next and it helps her keep her composure. One time she didn t ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. New Moon Essay New Moon by Stephenie Meyer This book was quite suspenseful. While the series is known as being mainly romantically based, New Moon contains a great deal of mystery. At the beginning, Bella is unwrapping a present while at the house of her boyfriend (who just so happens to be a vampire). His family is there, too, so when she gets a paper cut on her finger and then falls onto a glass table and slices her arms up, it s a disaster. With all that blood, it definitely seems like the vampires would devour her. However, they don t. A few days later, Edward moves away because he believes it s too dangerous for them to be together. This leaves you wondering if he ll ever come back. Then, Bella finds that if she... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Things then turn desperate as Edward is slowly pulling away from her. The next part of the book is the part that s always the hardest for me to read. The tone of the middle part is incredibly devastated until Bella meets Jacob. Then a little hope comes through because he s finally getting her happy once again. While she s still in love with Edward, things are better when Jacob is around. A bit of time passes, and then the book gets suspenseful and tense because Bella nearly kills herself by cliff jumping. Edward thinks that she is actually dead, so he is going to attempt to kill himself, and Bella has to try to rescue him. My favorite quote from the book is said by Bella a few months after Edward has left. She feels that her life has basically ended, and she s spent the past few months in a zombie like state. The quote is, Time passes. Even when it seems impossible. Even when each tick of the second hand aches like the pulse behind a bruise. It passes unevenly, in strange lurches and dragging lulls, but pass it does. Even for me. Another quote that gets me every time I think about it is said by Edward after him and Bella are reunited at the end. It is, Before you, Bella, my life was like a moonless night. Very dark, but there were stars points of light and reason. And then you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly everything was on fire; there was brilliancy, there ... • 17. Relationship Between Grey And Cameron The relationship between Grey and Cameron deteriorated rapidly throughout the Waikato Wars. Grey was constantly searching for one determining knockout blow to defeat Maori forces, while Cameron was a realist who realised that attacking the Maori Pa head on was suicidal. This difference in opinion led to the two men arguing constantly which had a profound impact on the war. The Waikato Wars (1863 1864) were a component of the New ZealandWars which were active from 1845 to 1872. The wars have also commonly been known as the Maori Wars or the Land Wars . During these wars there was a huge divide in society. Many people debate whether these wars were over land or sovereignty. The New Zealand wars were a series of individual battles between the higher government and various Maori tribes. The Wars were caused by a miss understanding of ownership between Maori and Pakeha. When the British settlers came to New Zealand they thought that the Maori were utilising the land like they should. The settlers wanted to buy the land off the Maori but they refused. But of course, they all had different views. Maori pass on land from generations and inherit it from their ancestors, whereas Pakeha can just trade the land more money. Grey and Cameron s relationship deteriorated hugely during the Invasion of the Waikato. Sir George Grey (born 1812) made a huge impact on New Zealand during the Waikato Wars. Due to the concept of the study, the passerby s were the indirect participants and the objective of the study was discreetly disclosed to each passerby who bent down to offer assistance. A total of 210 letters were dropped in the cities and the remaining 210 in smaller towns across the county, as the aim was to find out which location had a higher return rate of letters. The envelopes consisted of addresses of two normal addresses addressed to B. J. However, out of the 420 letters that were scattered across the county, only 199 were mailed back from both the locations combined. The results took an unexpected twist and showed that there was a larger figure of return rates from the cities in contrast to the small towns (Bridges amp; Coady, p. 309). The hypothesis is that passerby s would portray more helping attitudes and behaviors in non crowded areas and would appear to be less helpful in crowded settings. • 20. Analysis Of Cormac Mccarthy s The Road How Effectively Does McCarthy Create a Sense of What a Post Apocalyptic World Would be Like? Cormac McCarthy creates a sense of what a post apocalyptic society in the novel The Road . He does this by including dreams, description of the physical landscape and human behaviour. This helps create a sense of a post apocalyptic world because it gives us insight into what it looks like and how the people think. McCarthy uses dreams as a recurring theme throughout the text in order to create his post apocalyptic world. The novel opens with a dream, in which the author creates a monster. The author uses dreams to create a contrast between a perfect dream world and the cold, dark terrifying world that the characters live in now. Its bowels, its beating heart. The brain that pulsed in a dull glass bell . This could be the author creating a metaphor for the horror that the characters are about to face throughout the book. Towards the middle of the book the man says that The right dreams for a man in peril were dreams of peril and all else was the call of languor and death. • 22. The Third Man Sparknotes The Third Man published in 1949 by Graham Green is a fascinating book. Graham Green (1904 1991) was said to be one of the greatest novelists of the twentieth century, writing everything from short stories, autobiographies, to children s books. What I found most interesting about the book was that the whole story is told from the viewpoint of Major Calloway and not from Rollo Martins. This is determined from the beginning of the book that Rollo Martins, a broke writer from London, has been presented as a man who is loyal and believes that friendship is almost like a marriage. It is evident when he arrives at the cemetery in Vienna and is told by Calloway that the body being buried is his best friend from childhood, Harry Lime. Rollo Martins... Martins gained some hope from an inspiration to investigate accusations to find out if they were true when he believed he saw a figure that resembled Lime. Later in the book, Martins set up a meeting with Lime and hearing Lime s own confession, Martins belief and loyalty in his best friend disappeared completely because Lime s disregard for human life produces a sad disappoint for Martins. Lime won t stop committing penicillin racketeering, so Martins thinks it s up to him to do something to stop it. This fact brings evidence in showing that Martins opinion of humanism must be placed over friendship. He decides to tell Calloway that he will provide assistance to the police to help arrest Lime. By making this decision and the fact that Martins manages to kill Lime, Greene, undoubtedly, wanted to convey that no matter how strong a friendship may be, that it means very little compared to the value of human life. Last, it is interesting to look at the use of viewpoint used to help express the theme of the book The Third Man as perceived through Calloway s point of view. The Tax Rate And Private Savings Essay Figure (7) may work as another evidence of the inability of Egyptian tax system to mobilize domestic savings, as it shows that while domestic private savings, as a percent of GDP, was fluctuating around a downward sloping trend, marginal tax rate was fluctuating around a relatively horizontal trend which indicates that marginal taxrate has no or insignificant power over stimulating domestic private savings. Figure 7.Marginal Tax Rate and Private Domestic Savings to GDP Source: Author s calculations based on data extracted from Ministry of Finance, Monthly Financial Report, different editions. To verify this conclusion, the effect of main sources of tax revenue (taxes on income, taxes on property, taxes on goods and services and tariff) on domestic savings will be examined statistically. The only source of tax revenue that has statistically significant effect on domestic savings is property tax. Tax on properties is negatively related to domestic savings with coefficient 12, see appendix (3). Accordingly, small reduction in property taxes will have magnitude increase in domestic savings. Thus, if financial markets are operating efficiently, tax cut on properties will have a considerable positive effect on the process of economic growth, especially since property taxes represent only 3.6%, in average, of total tax revenue. A Home Energy Audit What To Expect When You Get A Home Energy Audit If your power bills are higher than your friends or neighbors, yet you still feel too hot or too cold in your home, then your house probably isn t very energy efficient. If you live in an older home, it could have single pane windows and inadequate insulation. Before you spend a lot of money on upgrades, it s best to have an energy audit so you know exactly what needs to be done. Here are some of the things that are examined during the audit. Power Bills And Lifestyle The first thing the auditor will do is examine your lifestyle and look at things like how many people live in your home, the thermostat and hot water heater settings, how often you use the washer and dishwasher, and whether you have a pool. Next, he or she examines your power bill to see how much energy you consume. You ll want to gather bills over several months so the auditor can see your energy consumption during various seasons of the year. Physical Examination Next, the auditor makes a complete physical examination of your home. On the exterior he or she looks for gaps and cracks that allow air to leak into or out of your home. • 36. The Importance Of Gender Equality In Youth Sports Youth sports help children to develop many skills such as teamwork and coordination which can be useful in other aspects of life and can be transferable into many career fields later in life. There are not many girls playing contact sports. Youth football has a very large portion of male athletes and far less femaleathletes. This is due to many factors and barriers created when the organizations that run youth football leagues may have trouble recruiting young girls, have trouble guaranteeing the safety of young athletes, and may even discourage young girls from participating in programs. Genderequality is important for the betterment of society. It is an enduring concept of human life. Gender equality has been improved due to the increasing number of female players participating in youth football programs across the country and their inspirational fights to play the sport. Gender equality is an important part of society. In an article on why everyone should be concerned about what is happening with equality and should be supportive of advances in equality, the article emphasizes how important equality is to the future of young women and girls for their careers (Huhman). Female employees can sometimes be treated unfairly or be held to a higher standard than their male colleagues. Women who take on leadership positions in their companies or careers are able to help make improvements in gender equality and in the workplace. Additionally, in another article, women work together to be activists for equality in sports and work to normalize the participation of girls in sports often dominated by ale participants (Yi and Bhalla). By working to make seeing girls in sports more common, girls are inspired to join sports by other female athletes. This creates a ripple effect and eventually causes more girls to take on leadership positions on teams and higher roles in their sports. Many of these girls can carry on these leadership qualities at school and eventually as young women in the workforce. By inspiring these young female athletes to take on these roles and to inspire others, they can promote gender equality and normalize the idea of females playing contact sports. The Workingmen s Party Of California Summary The Workingmen s Party of California and How It Compares To Ideals of Today The Workingmen s Party of California was an American labor organization led by Denis Kearney. Although this Association is over a century old, the mindset of it is still around today. Certain ideals of the Workingmen s party can be found in two distinct people, Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump. It might seem wild comparing these two together, but when it comes to the Workingmen s Party they have a bit in common. Democratic socialist Bernie Sanders shares many of the same views as the Workingmen s Party. Firstly, Bernie s mission was taking the power from the rich and placing it into the hands of the people where it belongs. Sanders and the Party also both wanted to destroy land monopoly by creating laws, and to destroy the power of the rich by a system of taxation. Yucca Plants And Yucca Moths Yucca Plants and Yucca Moths: A Coevolutionary Point of View Petra Markova 300214198 BIOL 3700: Evolution Maxence Salomon Introduction According to Thompson (1994), coevolution is defined as the reciprocal evolutionary change in interacting species . This occurs when one species has a significant effect on the survival or reproductive success of another species and vice versa, leading to the gradual evolution of both species. It is important to study this topic, as it is possible that the evolution of a majority of the world s life forms was affected by the coevolution occurring between plants and insects (Smith et al., 2009). It is generally accepted that there are three forms in which coevolution can take place ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Coevolution in this scenario occurs by selection for those organisms from both taxa which possess trait which allow them to take the best advantage of this mutualism relative to their conspecifics. An example of this relationship is the plant pollinator interaction between yucca plants and yucca moths. While the relationship between yucca plants (Family Agavaceae) and yucca moths (Genus Tegeticula and Parategeticula) can be defined as mutualistic, it is more than an ordinary mutualism (Sheppard and Oliver, 2002). In a generic mutualistic relationship, both organisms gain fitness benefits from the interaction, but are not dependent on each other for survival. In the yucca plant yucca moth interaction, the yucca moth provides essential cross pollination services to the yucca plant, and the yucca plant provides a predator free location for the yucca moth to lay its eggs, as well as providing nutrition for the larvae in the form of some of its seeds (Moisett, n.d.). Since the interaction between these two organisms is necessary for the survival of their species, it is called an obligate mutualism (Lunau, 2004). The relationship between the yucca plants and yucca moths serves as the theme for the remainder of this paper. Objectives To discuss the widely accepted hypothesis for the evolutionary mechanism behind the yucca plant yucca moth relationship. Irving Penn was known as a photographer whose classical simplicity transformed the pages of Vogue magazine. There are very few great portraitists, but he is a sort of sorcerer who seems beyond resemblance. Irving Penn s Cretan Landscape was a rather large photograph at 15.4x22in. There are instances when a teacher may have one to two sections of a given class, and if we are a few students over, those students cannot take the course they want, or possibly need. As Britain and France experienced the expansion for the right to vote, in Italy and Spain liberal reforms provided to be the means of success. Reform in Great Britain took part because of their two functioning two party parliamentary system and the growth of political democracy. The right to vote was brought to light by the Reform Act of 1867, however William Gladstone further extended this right with the Reform Act of 1884. This reform act allowed males who paid regular taxes and rent, by enfranchising agricultural workers. Even though women were still denied the right to vote, the passage of the Redistribution Act eliminated historic boroughs and countries and established constituencies that contained one member for the House of Commons and have equal population proportions. As the reform s became Great Britain s way of life, this was not the case for Ireland, in which gradual reform failed to solve their problems. Not quite like the political trends noticed in Great Britain, France had formed an independent republic government in Paris, known as the Commune. Not only did the General Assembly crush the Commune, but also women s roles were changed. Instead of women looking out for wounded soldiers or caring for them, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The groupthink trap is when majority of the group supports an idea and you do not speak up even though you do not agree with the idea (LaForce, 2014). You either are not confident enough to think you are right, or you do not want to cause a disagreement or conflict (LaForce, 2014). My example: I was in a meeting with people who are a much higher up then me and two of those people I do not feel confident around. Actually, one of those people I consider a bully. The team was trying to come up with a solution to a problem. I can see that not everyone agrees with the decision but yet, they are not speaking up. I too did not want to speak up, because I did not want to cause conflict with the two people I mentioned above. I could see the problem was not well defined, and it did not appear the decision made was not the accurate solution for the real problem. In this case, I did not speak up, but since that meeting I have realized that I was right to speak up. Unfortunately, at that time, I lacked the confidents to speak up, but now I do. When I see others wanting to speak up, or are confused, not on the same page, etc., I make a point to say something. In the end, there are times I caused conflict, but I allow our customers to feel more conformable and I know what I did was right, and that conflict was worth it. I have since learned when to pick my battles, when to take things off line, how to approach different situations depending on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
