The Book Of Proverbs In The Hebrew Bible
Introduction The Book of Proverbs, found in the Writings, the third division of the Hebrew canon, is a
unique book, entirely different from the rest of the Old Testament. There is no mention of the Israelite
forefathers, God s promises, or narrative of any event from Israelite history. Similar to Job and
Ecclesiastes within the genre of Wisdom literature, the Proverbs focus on patterns of life to observe
the acts of God , rather than declaring direct messages from him. The purpose of Proverbs is to
instruct the reader in attaining wisdom, the ultimate pursuit. The word wisdom (hokmah in Hebrew)
occurs thirty nine times and the adjective wise (hakam) forty seven times throughout the 31 chapters.
The scope of wisdom applied in the Book of Proverbs ranges from wealth to work to the words we
speak, encompassing nearly every aspect of life.

It is written entirely in poetry. Parallelism, a well known phenomenon in biblical poetry, is especially
present in Proverbs. Certain proverbs are experiential, telling it the way it is, more practically than
theoretically. At other times, the biblical saying goes beyond mere observation, to urge a certain
course of action. Portions of the Proverbs may have been assembled due to a desire on the part of later
scribes to preserve Israelite traditional wisdom, which was in danger of being forgotten. The poetic
form provided mnemonic value, as short, pithy sayings lent themselves more favorably to
memorization, securing their transmission to future

A Report On Sustainable Biofuels
Executive Summary
With the goal of achieving carbon neutral growth by 2020 the aviation industry views sustainable
biofuels as its tool to reach that goal. The major aircraft manufacturers are leaders in the research
effort, utilizing their resources to fund and facilitate early tests with biofuels. While a core group of
airlines using a very limited supply of biofuel is testing the commercial viability of biofuels across
diverse networks.
Ethanol, made from corn, is part of the first generation biofuels, which are cheaper but have a larger
impact on food supply. The price of ethanol is higher than the current gas prices when factors like
transportation and labour are taken into account. However, airlines may find this type of biofuel ...

The usage of land originally dedicated to agriculture has not only created food shortages, but also
caused an increase in food prices. Furthermore, there is not enough land capacity to satisfy the
demand of the biofuel industry.
Biofuel is an ideal solution and the successes seen by aircraft manufacturers and airlines are small
steps of progress towards full implementation. However, given the limitations in land capacity, the
debate of fuel versus food, the current technological developments, high prices and lack of
government support, this solution is neither economical nor sustainable.

Future of Alternative Fuels for Air Travel Introduction
Rise of Biofuels
With the airline industry committed to achieving carbon neutral growth by 2020, the introduction of
sustainably produced biofuels is a key strategy for achieving this goal. It was a multi year process that
required collaboration between aircraft makers, engine manufacturers and oil companies, with the first
demonstration flight in 2008. In 2011 biofuels were approved for commercial flight use. Since that
time there has been thousands of flights fuelled with sustainable biofuels, here are a few milestones;
February 2008
First demonstration flight powered with biofuel, a Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747 with one engine
powered with a 20% biofuel mix flew from London to Amsterdam.

Julia Alvarez
In the story Antojos by Julia Alvarez, the main character, a wealthy Dominican woman named
Yolanda, travels to the Dominican Republic in order to search for her cultural and personal identity.
Her difficulty interacting and relating to her old family members before she immigrated to America
reflects the emotional hardship of immigration.
The setting of this story is crucial to the plot of the story because it changes frequently to distinguish
social class and amount of wealth, as well as shifting perspectives. Yolanda immigrated from the
Dominican Republic at a very early age to escape the revolutions that were always breaking out inside
her capital city where she and her parents resided. This means after so many years, the Dominican

Yolanda, after having been away for so many years, cannot express herself fluently in Spanish
anymore, so it is very hard to communicate with her family in the same as she used to, highlighting
another hardship of immigration. Her initial distrust of men we see near the middle of the reading
reflects her fears of the Dominican Republic after five years of being away. This is very important to
the arc of the story and simply to her character development as a whole because though she should be
at home in her home country, she feels like a foreigner and is more comfortable being treated as such
when the men confront her at her car and asked if she spoke Spanish. Yolanda also consistently
predicts the wrong reaction from people she meets in the Dominican Republic. She expects the two
men with machetes to kill her and steal her things, when in fact they were actually trying to help her.
They ended up changing the tire on her car and walking away. She also expects the security guard at
the mansion to respect the young boy, Jose, she sends for help. Instead, the security guard punishes
and beats the boy for lying, because he did not believe a Dominican woman would be by herself alone
in the night with an expensive car. This shows very well

When children are little, they often learn that every cigarette you smoke takes seven seconds off your
life. We also know of the addictive nature of smoking. Once people start, it is very hard to stop
(ALA). There are hundreds of different facts about how smoking can harm you. This proves that the
negative effects of smoking will far exceed the positive.
Smoking reduces the stress in your life.
Although it is proven that smoking calms you down for the short period you are smoking that
cigarette, in the long run, smoking can be the cause of many stressful issues. Smokers will be stressed
when they end up in a hospital fighting any number of smoking related problems like lung cancer and
emphysema. Smokers will be stressed when they get the expensive medical bill. They might not have
the money to pay this bill because of all the money that they have wasted on cigarettes. If a person
smokes a pack of cigarettes every day for one year, it will cost them nearly $1300 a year. So if you are
a lifetime smoker of 30 years, you have probably given the tobacco companies $39,000(Action on
Smoking and Health). Think of all they could do to take away their stress with that money.
Stopping smoking can be a health hazard.

A New York medical malpractice law firm is one in which its lawyers focus on the needs of clients
who have experienced injury, illness, or death due to wrongful action or inaction at the hands of the

The majority of practitioners prove their competence every day, working diligently and ethically in the

percentage adds up to enough negligence cases that we and other law firms have made medical
practice litigation a primary focal point.

America Should Spend More on Space Exploration Essay
The United Sates federal government is planning on cutting federal funding for space exploration and
NASA towards the end of the year. The Space Race began in the 1950 s and 1960 s when Russia sent
up the first successful, unmanned satellite named Sputnik in into outer space. The U.S. response was
the creation of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. During this time, the Soviets sent
the first man in to orbit, Yuri Gagarin. Then, in July of 1969, the U.S. took the lead in the race by
sending the first men to the moon on Apollo 11( Space Exploration 1). Ever since then, space
exploration has lead to the discovery of much beneficial information that has allowed us to invent
some of the greatest devices we now use today. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

order to further space exploration (Horowitz 2). Mir showed that space exploration is no longer a
competition between nations and helped Americans and Russians develop expertise to build and
maintain the space station. Now, this International Space Station is the largest international space
collaboration of all time. 15 countries have all come together to seek to improve life on Earth and pave
the way for future space exploration. The United States needs to work together with these other
nations so we do not become isolated like in the past, ruining our economy. With the help of these
other nations, the U.S. and NASA can make new discoveries in space that may benefit the way we live
today.
NASA has proven that space exploration is the key to the future. Technologies developed by NASA
have been used in many different areas, from agriculture to computer science. These space related
technologies and scientific knowledge have contributed to high performance computing, robotics,
scratch resistant eyeglass lenses, breast cancer imaging, and satellites that support communication,
navigation, weather observation, and other remote sensing disciplines (Horowitz 2). Have you ever
thought how your life would change if NASA never developed the modern cell phone? The

American Born Chinese Stereotypes Analysis
American Born Chinese Stereotype Essay
The most common stereotypes today are dumb blonde, geek, nerd, smart asian, fat american, terrorist.
These insults are used everyday, as it is a way for society to label people for being different from
everyone else. Stereotypes are used in American Born Chinese to show how stereotypes are used to
negatively group people, to depict how others bully those who are different, and are used to show how
stereotypes affect those they are directed towards and those around them in a negative way.
The first way stereotypes are used is to show negative stereotypes from the looks from other people.
One example of this happening is on page 31. [Timmy ] My momma says Chinese people eat dogs.

One example Yang gave was when Jin was eating his lunch and a group of boys went over to him.
They teased him about eating dogs (Yang 32 33). This only because Timmy and the teacher assumed
the worst of Jin s culture and associated him with it. These kids were bullying Jin because he was
different. This happens everywhere from the workplace to the classroom and some people think that it
is true so it is okay. In order to make them look and feel superior, the kids bullied Jin and made him
feel left out and not worth anything. This also happens today, as people are constantly putting down
others at work or in school due to their race, religion, or just by the way they look. Another example of
stereotypes being used to show superiority is when Peter Grabinsky taking Jin s sandwich and
promising to be his friend if he continued to give his lunch to him (Peter) (Yang 34). Peter then treats
Jin as if he is a dog s favorite toy that will soon be forgotten and thrown away. This does happen, as
Peter leaves to live with his father and leaves Jin. This example shows how Peter took advantage of
the other children s disliking towards Jin due to what he looked like by taking his lunch and abusing
him. Both of these show how students of mayflower elementary treat Jin as if he is useless and bully
him in order to make them feel special. The kids saw that Jin was different and their brains seemed to
associate him with eating dogs and coming from china. To sum it up, the children making fun of Jin
for supposedly eating dogs just shows that the children are making him seem abnormal and a shame to
society just because he is from a country that does things that are frowned upon in their

3d Printing Has A Huge Future
3D Printing
One Emerging Technology field that is soon to change the game is 3D Printing. Though 3D Printers
have been around since the 1980 s, it hasn t been widely accessible or used until now. This is due to
the advances in technology, which allow 3D Printers to be created in a smaller form factor and used at
a much cheaper price. Throughout this paper, I will further go through more reason why I believe 3D
printing has a huge future. This paper s topics are broken up into various paragraphs, which will
discuss technology specifications, business value, examples of usage, competitive value, and my
analysis and perspective of 3D Printing technology.
Technology Specifications. As stated in the previous paragraph, the earliest known 3D Printers have
been around since the 1980 s. In 1984, advances made on the inkjet concept of printing transmuted
into printing with materials. The concept is closely related to the inkjet concept but during the early
stages of 3D printing, manufactures could not produce the necessary equipment at a cheap enough
price in order for the 3D printing phenomena to lift off. If you fast forward 20 years you will see that
technology has made a huge leap. This leap allowed for the necessary advances of the 3D Printing
industry that allowed for cheaper printer production cost. The following is a brief description of how
3D Printers work. Typical 3D Printers are composed of about 5 different parts: laser source, elevator,
vat, layered part, and

Comparison Of Peanut Butter And Jelly Sandwich
The most well known sandwich in America is by far the peanut butter and jelly sandwich. It s
straightforwardness, and palatability, have contributed to this iconic sandwiches prominence in the
American house hold. Whether it be for lunch, or as a quick snack, PBJ s will surely not disappoint.
Adhering to these instructions will produce a trouble free, and delectable sandwich. The first step to
making the sandwich is choosing the type of bread that will be used. A traditional peanut butter and
jelly sandwich is made on white bread, but there are so many others to choose from. For the health
conscience person, they can choose to use wheat, or any whole grain breads, bagels, and muffins. To
add extra flavor to their sandwich, they can use breads that are infused with any number of flavors
including cinnamon, brown sugar, and raisin. Choosing the bread used, is the first step in making a
fantastic sandwich. Next is arguably the most important step, choosing their peanut butter, and jelly.
Peanut butter comes in all types, and doesn t have to be made with peanuts. Almond butter and cashew

When constructing the sandwich, it is important to note that the peanut butter to jelly ratio will greatly
affect the taste of the sandwich, and the overall consistency. To start they must set up a suitable work
station, this includes a clean surface, and a butter knife that they will need to spread the peanut butter
and jelly with. Once that is done, they will lay out two pieces of bread, and open the jars of peanut
butter and jelly. Using the butter knife, they will scoop a generous amount of peanut butter, and jelly
onto one of the slices of bread. Next, they will spread the peanut butter, and jelly across the surface of
the bread, making sure to cover the entire slice evenly. Now that the bread slice has had peanut butter,
and jelly applied to it, it can now be mated to the other slice of bread, to be

Merit-Based Utopia Essay
People are the building blocks of a society. The society is perfect only if each individual achieves
happiness through his/her own satisfaction from achievements. In order for that to happen, the society
should be merit based. A place where people have an incentive to work for themselves without
harming others will ensure a safe, respectful, and successful community. Unlike our society in the
twentieth century, people are actually encouraged to strive for success and get rewarded according to
the level of accomplishment in this utopia.
The main idea of a merit based society is a person receives what he works for. The most hardworking
people are the wealthiest, most respected, and most loved. At the same time, these people are very
happy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Incentive is an invisible but effective force that causes people to act a certain way, according to the ten
principles of economics. (Mankiw, 7) Firstly, the role of government is very different in a merit based
society compared to the American government. In a merit based society, the government is only
responsible for enforcing a law that forbidden a person from doing harm to others, arresting those who
break this law and sending them to jail. This idea is similar to Ayn Rand s objectivism, in which she
says, Punishment is the only proper function is government. ( Ayn Rand First Interview 1959 (Full) )
If punishment exists, people will refrain from causing harm to others because of the idea that people
avoid punishment called secondary negative reinforcement proved by a psychological experiment.
(Logan)
The government also differs from the American government in its treatment of welfare. In the merit
based society, there is no welfare. The government does not tax nor lend help to anyone because
welfare discourages people from fully using their potentials. If welfare is available to the non wealthy,
people tend to become one of them by not working and being fed by the government. Taxes are also
eliminated because some people restrict their income to a certain degree by processes called tax
avoidance and tax evasion because they want to pay less tax to the American government. (Mankiw,

Memory Is A Social Phenomenon
It is been seen that memory is now ubiquitous .All of Memory has been wholly observed by its
meticulous reconstitution.. When we examine a little closely to how we recollect things in our day to
day to life, we realize that the greatest number of memories come back to us when our parents, our
neighbours, our friends or the other persons recall them to us. Differences in discourse of memory
have been understood by the remnants of experience which is still lived in the warmth of tradition, in
the silence of custom, in the repetition of ancestral which have been displaced under the pressure of a
fundamentally historical sensibility.
Memory is a social phenomena. It has become the subject of controversies among observers and
analysts. The notion of memory when it is defined, can be either understood as internal or inward
memory and external memory, or personal memory or social memory(Halbwach 1950, 52). Narratives
about the past by nations and states are not something new. When we reflect upon them , we make
many discoveries ; we discover the shape and the why of the events. (ibid: 55). But the explosion of
the memorial phenomenon by largely, is increased from the utterance of specific groups, whether
intranational or transnational groups, and from the range of scales on which the narrative of past
experience is legitimately expressed. A social group s identity is constructed with narratives and
traditions that are created to give its members a sense of an community.

Advantage And Disadvantage Of Composite Materials
Composite materials (also called composition materials or shortened to composites) are materials
made from two or more constituent materials with significantly different physical or chemical
properties, that when combined, produce a material with characteristics different from the individual
components. The individual components remain separate and distinct within the finished structure.
The new material may be preferred for many reasons: common examples include materials which are
stronger, lighter or less expensive when compared to traditional materials. In the last decades, the use
of natural fibers as reinforcement in polymeric composites for technical application has been a
research subject of scientist. Interest in natural fibers has increased worldwide due to their low cost,
low density, hardness, higher fatigue endurance, good thermal and mechanical resistivity and to their
environmental friendliness. The Asian markets have been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

different uses depending upon the requirement. In engineering, brown fibres are mostly used. There
are many general advantages of coconut fibres e.g. they are moth proof, resistant to fungi and rot,

Venezuela boasts the tallest waterfall in the world, several Caribbean archipelagos, vast plains, and

The northwest territory ordinance was the first ordinance made. It was made to get all the states north

Some people would take the slaves papers and rip them up and send them back to the slave states to
make money. So that made it hard for the slaves to live a new normal life.
The troubles they had with this treaty was how divide the land into states. Because the population had
to reach 60,000 to become a statehood. But once that happened they divided the land north of the ohio

Inventor and engineer Nickola Tesla was born in Jul of 1856, in Croatia. He came to the United States
of America in 1884 and briefly worked with Thomas Edison before the two parted ways. He sold

Bad Girls Don T Die
Have you ever found yourself wondering about the afterlife? Of demons and spirits, and things not
quite alive nor dead? Katie Alender seems to have. Katie Alender (rhymes with calendar, but without
the c) grew up in South Florida, where she attended high school at the Palm Beach County School of
the Arts, studying Communication Arts. After graduating, she studied film at the Florida State
University Film School and then moved to Los Angeles, where she worked in TV development and
production for several years, including a large amount of time producing dog shows for Animal
Planet. She is very private about her life, however, we do know she writes books people find scary,

Alexis thought she already led a dysfunctional high school life when a family fight leads to some
sisterly bonding. As dysfunctional morphs into dangerous, as her sister Kasey begins acting strangely;
Alexis wants to believe it s all in her head, but soon it becomes life threatening as she questions, is
Kasey even Kasey anymore? The ongoing theme we see is the author not only uses a darker scarier
tone and theme, but she uses a lot of imagery. First off in Bad Girls Don t Die it states, He faked his
sigh and checked an imaginary watch. Your inability to answer the question doesn t bode well for it
may not seem like much but it really sets the scene for the reader. You can obviously tell from this
quote alone the man seems uninterested and bored. This quote being an example of how imagery is
used in Katie Alender s work to really put the author in the setting. It also states in Bad Girls Don t
Die I stood perfectly still, looking up at the house and the dark sky beyond it. Alender paints a picture
of a dark gloomy and new environment in the reader s head. It fits not only with the imagery piece but
even the scary tone as it portrays and unsure and unsafe image in the reader s mind. Both books alone
already provide quite the case, but put together, they create an even more riveting

In this short paper I will cover my thoughts on the article provided for this week s article summary,

One of the largest successful multi billion dollar company that I have found interesting is Target
Corporations. In actuality, they are second, right next to Walmart on the retail distribution scale. Target
has produced a functional organizational habit that has brought in an annual revenue of
$72,618,000,000 in the year of 2014, cited from Wikipedia. Target, I truly believe is one of the most
successful corporations in United States of America. It has also extended itself to countries such as
Canada and even as far as Australia. Target makes it even more convenient to shop online or even in

6. Scatter Diagram
7. Stratification
The above highlighted quality tools have been discussed below
Check Sheets
Check sheets are tools which contains a collection of items and an indicator which shows how often
each item on the list occurs. It makes the data collection process easier by categorizing events that are
likely to occur. The performance of check sheet can be amplified if it is used with other tools such as
Histograms and Pareto analysis. Ishikawa estimated that 80% to 90% of all workplace problems could
be solved using only the simple quality improvement tools . (Thomas Pyzdek 2015)
The various types of check sheets are Recording check sheet, check list, Process check sheets, Defect
check sheets, Stratified defects check sheets, Defect location check sheet, Cause and effect diagram
check sheet. (Thomas Pyzdek 2015)
1. Recording Check Sheet
It is a simple form of check sheet used to collect measured or counted data in a tabular form. Data is
collected by making tick marks. It can be broken down to show shift, day or month. One precaution to
be taken is to leave enough room to write individual measurements.

Why Stereotypes Are Important Essay
There are many places where jokes are appreciated. At a friend s house, a comedy club, or a family
gathering, jokes are common, and even expected. However, there are many places where jokes should
not be told. Places such as a classroom, a serious dinner, and a business meeting, are not good settings
for jokes and laughter. I think it is important to learn when and where to tell jokes, not to always seek
attention, and know what jokes are appropriate for your setting. Jokes can be very helpful. After a
great loss, people might watch a comedy in the hopes of bringing their spirits up or forgetting about
their pain for just a few seconds. On the other hand, in class when teachers are trying to get work
done, one should not make jokes to get a few laughs. It is important to focus on the task at hand, and
not joke around until the time is right. Sometimes when people wisecrack, they throw ... Show more

Topics such as death and killing at schools is very sensitive, and no jokes should be made about this
subject. In recent years many kids have threatened to kill their classmates, and some of them followed
through with it. This is why when someone makes a fool of themselves and says something humorous
about the subject, they should be taken seriously and given the fitting punishment. It is important to
remember where you are and if anyone would be offended before you make a joke. Jokes are often
misinterpreted and can offend people. The saying Beauty is in the eye of beholder is similar with
humor. A joke isn t funny unless the audience finds it funny. There are places where comedy is normal
and it is okay to joke around. However, there are places, such as in a classroom, where jokes are not

True Meaning of Love Revealed in Snow Falling on Cedars
David Guterson s novel, Snow Falling on Cedars, is one that covers a number of important aspects in
life, including some controversial topics like racism and the Japanese internment during America s
involvement in the Second World War. It speaks to this reader on a more immediate and personal
level, however, through the playing out of Ishmael and Hatsue s relationship one which Hatsue seems
to be able to walk away from, but which shapes the way Ishmael tries to live his life because he cannot

he was unable to stay away from Hatsue and finds a moment to share with her what his love, when not

Kevin Smith Film Techniques
To get the level enjoyment I got out of this film, you really need to be a Kevin Smith fan. Which I
really am, having seen all of his films save one. That one being Tusk, the precursor to this film and the
first film in the True North trilogy. Though I m more than aware of its story enough to know that they
aren t related. With exception of overlapping characters. So, you can jump right in without missing to
much, if really anything at all. I m not sure what it is about Kevin Smith s writing, but I can always get
into his films. No matter how strange and cheesy the plot gets and this one gets plenty of both. Yoga

form Smith. Since the only other horror film I ve seen by him is Red State, which is a horror film. So

exemplar of Naturalism, generating many studies that range from the indifference of Nature to the

Reflection Of Melancholic Depersonalization
Melancholic Depersonalization Today begins the same as every day before it. An alarm going off at
six o clock in the morning. The sound of it s violent whispers, daring me to unlock the heavy coffin
that is my eyes. It taunts me, but I realize it is better than the horrific images of the previous night. As
my body remembers the functions of yesterday I feel the anxiety entering my bloodstream. It starts
with my toes, quickly flowing through me. I can see it now, so similar to the black ink dropping in the
water. Slowly it will consume the water, creeping into the depths of it s memories. Just as the anxiety
will consume me. I realize it is time to cleanse my body of the dirt covering me. I raise myself from
the bed. The air is sharp, stabbing my throat each time I breathe. I can feel my lungs entering the state
of hypothermia. The combination of the frigid air and the anxiety tear me away from the grasps of the
warm, false comfort I crave. The screams of the alarm echo in my mind as I look into my peripheral
vision. I can hear another familiar voice in the distance. I fight the urge to look into the abyss. I can
feel every vein in my eye strain as they break. The temptation was too great. I lose the battle. My eyes
reluctantly look into my conflicted reflection, it has caught me. I question myself. Can the mirror see
the emptiness inside of me? Why does it reveal the disgusting largeness of my body? I panic at the
reflection that mimics me. Quickly, I run to a drawer adjacent from the mirror. I look inside. There it
is, the snake that wraps around my waist strangling my internal organs. I let it slither slowly across my
body. It reads to me the numbers, mocking my inadequacy to be thin. Each digit another entry wound,
my daily dose of poison. I am then released from my confinement, ready to go the bathroom. I exit my
bedroom into the otherworldly dimension. The darkness surrounds me and I am reminded of
everything that lives in this plane. I enter the bathroom and immediately turn the lights on. Again, the
mirror mocks me. I seek out music to comfort my lack of security. The comfort of hearing another
voice of a human who is feeling emotions that I yearn to feel again. I hear the sound waves charming

OVERVIEW FANDOM Hannibal is an American psychological thriller T.V. series that first aired on
April 4th, 2013 on NBC and that was developed and produced by Bryan Fuller of Pushing Daisies and
Wonderfalls fame. Hannibal is loosely based on The Red Dragon, by Thomas Harris, but diverges
notably form the text and is focused on exploring plot elements and characters prior to the book.
Specifically, the series focuses on the budding relationship between Hannibal Lecter and Will Graham,
and the idea that these two men are two of a kind, and uniquely suited to understanding one another,
despite Graham s reluctance to accept it. Much of the popularity of the show comes from the diversity
of the cast and the fully fleshed out characterizations for even minor characters. The cast of the

The Contribution of Texas in WWI
Texas contribution during WW II
When Japan attacked the US naval base at Pearl Harbor on the 7th day of December 1941, this marked
the beginning of WWII since the USA was heeded for a revenge mission soon after that and indeed on
the following day, the USA declared war against Japan. Soon countries were taking sides and
alignments were formed in anticipation of the impending war. The entire USA was called upon to
volunteer to the war and Texas was not left behind. Before the commencement of the war, Texas was
predominantly a quiet place with frontier traditions and rural life dominating the state. The life of the
Texans was predominantly within their ranches and farms and never ventured far off their local
ranches with farming being the predominate activity. Texas Historical Commission (2012) indicates
that even though Texans were only 5% of the total USA population, they accounted for at least 7% of
the response to the call for volunteers into the WWII. Texas was not only affected at the societal level
and the economy but there was a shift in the landscape. The fact that there were expansive land and a
moderate temperature in Texas made it a preferred ground for trainings. There were more than 75
major military installments across Texas with 65 of them being Army fields, 35 of them being Army
forts and camps 7 of them being naval bases. It is noted that there were also 60 branch prisoner of war
camps. Socially the war also cost Texans a great deal since more

Examples Of Self Destruction In Macbeth
In life people seek prosperity. Humans have been trained to always want more, never satisfied with
what they have. Whether someone does everything in their power to achieve a promotion, or someone
tries to become rich. The previous example shows selfishness and that people will do whatever it takes
to achieve these goals, whether an asset to society, or a downfall. In the Renaissance tragedy,
Macbeth, Shakespeare reveals how people s greediness and feeling entitlement to prosperity causes
their own self destruction. Greed, the selfish desire for something that causes people to perform acts
that they may have thought they were not capable of, which can change somebody s entire outlook on
life and change their entire personality. Greed consume ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They have an obsession with it that causes them to lose their sanity. This becomes very unhealthy and
can cause people to hallucinate and see things that aren t really there. Shall never tremble. Or be alive
again and dare me to desert with thy sword. If trembling I inhabit then, protest me the baby of a girl.
Hence, horrible shadow! Unreal mockery, hence! Macbeth began seeing ghosts, which was one of the
first signs of his self destruction. Shakespeare shows that this is part of the slow decent into insanity.
Once this has started it is very hard to stop. A slow and painful process, especially if being watched
from the outside because the person s life spirals out of control and nothing can be done to stop it. Is
this a dagger which I see before me, the handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee. I have thee
not, and yet I see thee still. Art thou not, fatal vision, sensible to feelings as to sight? (II. i. pg. 51)
Macbeth envisions a dagger in his sleep. He has a nightmare and sees the dagger before him, unable to
touch it. Shakespeare reveals how detrimental greed is to one s mental health. Having dreams and
sleepwalking while seeing a dagger before them does not define a person of a healthy mental

Apologies strategies used among American and Arabic speakers.
Apologies strategies used among American and Arabic speakers. literature review Apologies are
generally explained as ways to remove misunderstanding and show respect between speakers in order
to avoid embarrassing situations, or make reparations in daily communication. However, scholars
have found that apology is defined differently dependent upon the cultures of the speaker and hearer.
Finnegan (2012) and Holmes (1990) believe that apologies function as meaningful social acts that not
only repair relationships, but also effectively convey feelings. On the other hand, Olshtain (2000)

1989). Olshtain Cohen (2000) also demonstrated an additional two strategies, and classified them into
two categories: a denial of the need to apologize, and a denial of responsibility. Detemr (2000) further
added another strategy: postponing the apology. Owen, (1983) thought of an apology as a remedial
move, therefore he offered three explicit types of apology: utterances that consist of the word
apologize or its variations; utterances that carry the word sorry ; and utterances that start with I am
afraid followed by the sentence. Scholars concentrate on different cultures because each culture s
strategy of apologizing, and language being used, is different. Also, many researchers conducted
research on apology strategies in different languages, taking many variables into account such as:
politeness strategies used, how cultural values affected the recognition of an apology, gender, the
factors that have an impact on in the choosing of a certain strategy, and the strategies used by native
and non native speakers of English. Olshtain (2000), made a comparison of the apology strategies use
by the speakers of English, French, German, and Hebrew. She found a numerous similarities in
choosing expressions of responsibility. Ultimately, she found that various languages will recognize
apologies in similar ways. Additionally, Sugimoto (1997) compared the apology styles of 200

Christine Poggi and In the Name of Picasso by Rosalind Krauss. Poggi and Krauss take two somewhat
different approaches to examine the usage of signifiers and language in Cubism collages. Poggi takes
a more personal approach at the beginning of his piece by discussing Braque and Picasso s juxtaposed
attitudes and actions towards the public and mass culture by discussing the way in which Picasso and
Braque s artworks were displayed through small dealers specifically Kahnweiler. [125] The
paradoxical element arrives from the usage of mass produced materials like newspaper or wallpaper in

Special Considerations for Branch Office Deployments
Microsoft has identified a number of special considerations for deploying Active Directory in branch
office environments. The characteristics of a branch office environment include:
• A large number of physical locations that need to contain replicas of Active Directory data. • A
small number of users per location. • A hub and spoke network topology where many branch offices
rely on connectivity to a centralized hub site for communications to other parts of the organization. •
Slow network connectivity between the branch office locations and the hub site.
Because of the ramifications of these requirements, Microsoft has developed additional content
focused on deploying Active Directory in branch office environments. The Active Directory Branch

Vimy Ridge Significance
Almost half a year ago, the great war was won by Canada and her allies overseas; Germany surrender
ed, and our men and women came home victorious. Since then, we have embraced our returning
soldiers with tears and great pride, while also acknowledging the sacrifices made to gain the peace we
have now. Throughout the four years of the war, Canada always fought bravely, despite the overall
loss of more than 60,000 soldiers. Indeed, Canada played a pivotal role in the success of multiple
battles, notably the Battle of Ypres, and the capture of Vimy Ridge. The Battle of Ypres: The first
battle where Canadians entered the front line took place from April 22nd to 24th in 1915, in Belgium.
The Germans had been backed into a concave bend the odds were in the Canadians favour. ... Show

Since the majority of their troops were mobilised in Russia, they only advanced 3.25 km before
stopping. Rather than falling back, the Canadians valiantly stood their ground, and fought through the
night. Although the allies suffered great loss, they came out victorious. Vimy Ridge: On April 9th to
12th, 1917, the Canadian infantry was sent to seize Vimy Ridge, an advantageous area heavily
protected by the Germans. They did not disappoint. Following the French s failed attempt to capture
this land, sustaining over 100,000 casualties, the Canadians wanted to leave nothing to chance. The
Vimy Ridge take over was carefully planned, and strategically executed. After the high number of
deaths in the Somme offensive, Arthur Currie, a senior Canadian officer, and British general, Julian
Byng, wanted to ensure victory by rehearsing everything. As Currie states, Thorough preparation must
lead to success. Neglect nothing. As a result, positions and roles were meticulously reviewed, men
specialized their weapons, and new aerial photos created improved maps. Everything was timed

Detections With The Multiplex Potential Of The MAP System...
Currently, there are limited options available for point of care diagnostic testing, and none with the
multiplex capability potential of the MAP device. Rapid diagnostic tests and thus efficient and near
real time surveillance and response are essential for timely and comprehensive decision making. For
example, confirmatory testing of DENV requires virus isolation, often inaccessible, or multiple visits
to a physician, which may be impractical for a variety of reasons. As was seen in the recent Ebola
outbreak, rapid segregation of malaria and viral hemorrhagic fever cases is essential for containing the
spread of the disease. The MAP device can provide lab results within the hour, enabling enhanced
patient care and surveillance. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs are recommended for managing pain and fever
associated with chikungunya and leptospirosis, but are contraindicated for dengue fever due to the risk
of hemorrhage. Leptospirosis and malaria are treatable with antibiotic or antimalarial medication.
Without this treatment, patient prognosis declines. Rapid identification of malaria cases in an outbreak
of viral hemorrhagic fever (VHF) will protect those cases and can help build confidence in the
healthcare system, and rapid identification of VHF cases can help prevent large scale outbreaks.
While the MAP is useful in a clinical setting, it is designed to perform equally well in an austere or
field setting. Because of its compact design, long battery life, reagent stability, and user controlled
cloud connectivity, the MAP can allow field and forward operating units to diagnose and treat
personnel without a large infrastructure and communicate diagnoses for personnel returning to
healthcare facilities. In an outbreak or other public health emergency, it can facilitate rapidly screening
military personnel as well as local populations. In these situations, cloud connectivity allows for rapid
data aggregation and analysis, improving situational awareness and a proactive approach to
containment. The small volume of blood required and protected lancet lowers the risk of infection for
medical personnel from that of traditional venipuncture.

Network Addressing:
A. Subnets Business Needs
As table summaries, the school asked students to make sure that network is running differently to
make sure that students, administration and general public all aren t sharing their own network. The
facility blueprints must identify how many port connections will be required by floor. The
approximation total, we required should be 222 IP addresses, with 194 addresses on the student
network. The subnetting of the network is going to be divided into two subnets that provide security
and separation of data between the faculty staff and students.
The table below provides this information by floor.
1st Floor Rms # for Faculty # for Students Total
5 x Classrooms 5 0 5
4 x Offices (1 x Admin) 8 0 8
1 x Library 6 22 28 Overall 1st Ports: 41

3 x Offices 3 0 3 Overall 2nd Ports: 181
Therefore, this will ensure one of the core security requirements is met. The table listed below
provides the subnets that will be used and distributed to each classroom/office and meet security
requirements. The university has been assigned a Class A network address from our ISP of

The Geeks Shall Inherit The Earth Analysis
In the book The Geeks Shall Inherit the Earth: Popularity, Quirk Theory, and Why Outsiders Thrive
after High School, by Alexandra Robbins, the quirk theory is defined as: Many of the differences that
cause a student to be excluded in school are the same traits or real world skills that others will value,
love, respect, or find compelling about that person in adulthood and outside of the school setting
(Pg.8). Three characters that the quirk theory applies to are Blue, Noah, and Regan. Blue is a
homosexual gamer and an underachiever, with interests different from the people at his school, which
makes him unpopular. To connect with someone special, he started to spend more time with the AP

The Importance Of Informed Consent
What is informed consent and when, why and how must the physician obtained this consent? From the
Medicine Net they defined Informed Consent as The process by which a patient learns about the
procedure, understands the purpose, benefits, and potential risks of a medical or surgical intervention,
including clinical trails, and then agrees to receive the treatment or participate in the trial. Informed
consent generally requires the patient or responsible party to sign a statement confirming that they
understand the risks and benefits of the procedure or treatment.
Informed consent needs to be obtained by the physician when a procedure with anesthesia is used, if
the patient is undergoing any type of surgery, a procedure that is entering the body through the skin or
through a body cavity, or if the patient is asked to be in a clinical research trial. This type of consent is
necessary so the patient and the physician are both on the same page of the patient s understanding
and willingness to participate in the procedure. It is also for the patient to know their right to stop the
procedure before or during the procedure. It also informs the patient that if they do not want the
procedure they have alternatives they can choose from.
The American Medical Association describes the 8 steps on how to obtain Informed consent, as: The
Physician informs participants about (1) the purpose of the procedure, expected duration and
procedures; (2) their right to decline to participate and

my grandmother but all the other residents, too. I felt like I had made a difference in their lives. The

The Deployment Of A Family Member
Many military families in the United States are experiencing multiple deployments as our country
continues to send more troops to Iraq and Afghanistan, and the effects on their families are becoming
more severe. The deployment of a family member can definitely be a difficult time for loved ones.
Currently, families are experiencing the affects of the deployment cycle and it is putting many people
under a lot of emotional stress. More than 1.2 billion families have an active duty parent or spouse
(The Long War). Although it affects every family differently, the phases are all the same. Preparing for
a family member to leave can be one of the hardest phases of the deployment cycle, this is called pre
deployment. During this time, spouses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sometimes, the deployed spouse has trouble getting back into the swing of things like managing
money and household routines. These phases seem to affect every family in many different ways,
positively and negatively. Throughout the deployment process, children seem to be the most affected
in the family when their loved one is about to leave them for a long period of time. The earliest war
time deployment in history was back during World War II (Lester and Flake). This had to have been an
extremely tough time for families considering how brutal this particular war was. About 40% of
children in active duty families are younger than five years old. Out of this 40%, 14% of the children
have school issues: failing, having little to no interest in learning and their work, and problems with
their teachers. More than half saw their grades fall when one of their parents was deployed. School
aged children seem to have more effects when a parent is deployed. Studies show that the older the
child, the more likely it is that they will use drugs and consume alcohol (Lester and Flake). According
to Patricia Lester and Eric Flake, school aged children show higher levels of emotional and behavioral
distress. Being in school while a parent or other family member is deployed can be hard on that child,
but they should

  • 3. The Book Of Proverbs In The Hebrew Bible Introduction The Book of Proverbs, found in the Writings, the third division of the Hebrew canon, is a unique book, entirely different from the rest of the Old Testament. There is no mention of the Israelite forefathers, God s promises, or narrative of any event from Israelite history. Similar to Job and Ecclesiastes within the genre of Wisdom literature, the Proverbs focus on patterns of life to observe the acts of God , rather than declaring direct messages from him. The purpose of Proverbs is to instruct the reader in attaining wisdom, the ultimate pursuit. The word wisdom (hokmah in Hebrew) occurs thirty nine times and the adjective wise (hakam) forty seven times throughout the 31 chapters. The scope of wisdom applied in the Book of Proverbs ranges from wealth to work to the words we speak, encompassing nearly every aspect of life. Literary Form ... Certain proverbs are experiential, telling it the way it is, more practically than theoretically. At other times, the biblical saying goes beyond mere observation, to urge a certain course of action. Portions of the Proverbs may have been assembled due to a desire on the part of later scribes to preserve Israelite traditional wisdom, which was in danger of being forgotten. The poetic form provided mnemonic value, as short, pithy sayings lent themselves more favorably to memorization, securing their transmission to future ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. A Report On Sustainable Biofuels Executive Summary With the goal of achieving carbon neutral growth by 2020 the aviation industry views sustainable biofuels as its tool to reach that goal. The major aircraft manufacturers are leaders in the research effort, utilizing their resources to fund and facilitate early tests with biofuels. While a core group of airlines using a very limited supply of biofuel is testing the commercial viability of biofuels across diverse networks. Ethanol, made from corn, is part of the first generation biofuels, which are cheaper but have a larger impact on food supply. The price of ethanol is higher than the current gas prices when factors like transportation and labour are taken into account. However, airlines may find this type of biofuel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The usage of land originally dedicated to agriculture has not only created food shortages, but also caused an increase in food prices. Furthermore, there is not enough land capacity to satisfy the demand of the biofuel industry. Biofuel is an ideal solution and the successes seen by aircraft manufacturers and airlines are small steps of progress towards full implementation. However, given the limitations in land capacity, the debate of fuel versus food, the current technological developments, high prices and lack of government support, this solution is neither economical nor sustainable. 3 Future of Alternative Fuels for Air Travel Introduction Rise of Biofuels With the airline industry committed to achieving carbon neutral growth by 2020, the introduction of sustainably produced biofuels is a key strategy for achieving this goal. It was a multi year process that required collaboration between aircraft makers, engine manufacturers and oil companies, with the first demonstration flight in 2008. In 2011 biofuels were approved for commercial flight use. Since that time there has been thousands of flights fuelled with sustainable biofuels, here are a few milestones; February 2008 First demonstration flight powered with biofuel, a Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747 with one engine powered with a 20% biofuel mix flew from London to Amsterdam. Julia Alvarez In the story Antojos by Julia Alvarez, the main character, a wealthy Dominican woman named Yolanda, travels to the Dominican Republic in order to search for her cultural and personal identity. Her difficulty interacting and relating to her old family members before she immigrated to America reflects the emotional hardship of immigration. The setting of this story is crucial to the plot of the story because it changes frequently to distinguish social class and amount of wealth, as well as shifting perspectives. Yolanda immigrated from the Dominican Republic at a very early age to escape the revolutions that were always breaking out inside her capital city where she and her parents resided. This means after so many years, the Dominican Republic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yolanda, after having been away for so many years, cannot express herself fluently in Spanish anymore, so it is very hard to communicate with her family in the same as she used to, highlighting another hardship of immigration. Her initial distrust of men we see near the middle of the reading reflects her fears of the Dominican Republic after five years of being away. This is very important to the arc of the story and simply to her character development as a whole because though she should be at home in her home country, she feels like a foreigner and is more comfortable being treated as such when the men confront her at her car and asked if she spoke Spanish. Yolanda also consistently predicts the wrong reaction from people she meets in the Dominican Republic. She expects the two men with machetes to kill her and steal her things, when in fact they were actually trying to help her. They ended up changing the tire on her car and walking away. She also expects the security guard at the mansion to respect the young boy, Jose, she sends for help. Instead, the security guard punishes and beats the boy for lying, because he did not believe a Dominican woman would be by herself alone in the night with an expensive car. This shows very well ... Smokers will be stressed when they end up in a hospital fighting any number of smoking related problems like lung cancer and emphysema. The Space Race began in the 1950 s and 1960 s when Russia sent up the first successful, unmanned satellite named Sputnik in into outer space. The U.S. response was the creation of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. During this time, the Soviets sent the first man in to orbit, Yuri Gagarin. Then, in July of 1969, the U.S. took the lead in the race by sending the first men to the moon on Apollo 11( Space Exploration 1). • 9. American Born Chinese Stereotypes Analysis American Born Chinese Stereotype Essay The most common stereotypes today are dumb blonde, geek, nerd, smart asian, fat american, terrorist. These insults are used everyday, as it is a way for society to label people for being different from everyone else. Stereotypes are used in American Born Chinese to show how stereotypes are used to negatively group people, to depict how others bully those who are different, and are used to show how stereotypes affect those they are directed towards and those around them in a negative way. The first way stereotypes are used is to show negative stereotypes from the looks from other people. One example of this happening is on page 31. [Timmy ] My momma says Chinese people eat dogs. [Mrs. Greeders] ...In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One example Yang gave was when Jin was eating his lunch and a group of boys went over to him. They teased him about eating dogs (Yang 32 33). This only because Timmy and the teacher assumed the worst of Jin s culture and associated him with it. These kids were bullying Jin because he was different. This happens everywhere from the workplace to the classroom and some people think that it is true so it is okay. In order to make them look and feel superior, the kids bullied Jin and made him feel left out and not worth anything. This also happens today, as people are constantly putting down others at work or in school due to their race, religion, or just by the way they look. Another example of stereotypes being used to show superiority is when Peter Grabinsky taking Jin s sandwich and promising to be his friend if he continued to give his lunch to him (Peter) (Yang 34). Peter then treats Jin as if he is a dog s favorite toy that will soon be forgotten and thrown away. This does happen, as Peter leaves to live with his father and leaves Jin. This example shows how Peter took advantage of the other children s disliking towards Jin due to what he looked like by taking his lunch and abusing him. Both of these show how students of mayflower elementary treat Jin as if he is useless and bully him in order to make them feel special. The kids saw that Jin was different and their brains seemed to associate him with eating dogs and coming from china. To sum it up, the children making fun of Jin for supposedly eating dogs just shows that the children are making him seem abnormal and a shame to society just because he is from a country that does things that are frowned upon in their ... Though 3D Printers have been around since the 1980 s, it hasn t been widely accessible or used until now. This is due to the advances in technology, which allow 3D Printers to be created in a smaller form factor and used at a much cheaper price. Throughout this paper, I will further go through more reason why I believe 3D printing has a huge future. This paper s topics are broken up into various paragraphs, which will discuss technology specifications, business value, examples of usage, competitive value, and my analysis and perspective of 3D Printing technology. Technology Specifications. As stated in the previous paragraph, the earliest known 3D Printers have been around since the 1980 s. In 1984, advances made on the inkjet concept of printing transmuted into printing with materials. The concept is closely related to the inkjet concept but during the early stages of 3D printing, manufactures could not produce the necessary equipment at a cheap enough price in order for the 3D printing phenomena to lift off. If you fast forward 20 years you will see that technology has made a huge leap. This leap allowed for the necessary advances of the 3D Printing industry that allowed for cheaper printer production cost. The following is a brief description of how 3D Printers work. Typical 3D Printers are composed of about 5 different parts: laser source, elevator, vat, layered part, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In order for that to happen, the society should be merit based. A place where people have an incentive to work for themselves without harming others will ensure a safe, respectful, and successful community. Unlike our society in the twentieth century, people are actually encouraged to strive for success and get rewarded according to the level of accomplishment in this utopia. Incentive is an invisible but effective force that causes people to act a certain way, according to the ten principles of economics. (Mankiw, 7) Firstly, the role of government is very different in a merit based society compared to the American government. In a merit based society, the government is only responsible for enforcing a law that forbidden a person from doing harm to others, arresting those who break this law and sending them to jail. This idea is similar to Ayn Rand s objectivism, in which she says, Punishment is the only proper function is government. ( Ayn Rand First Interview 1959 (Full) ) If punishment exists, people will refrain from causing harm to others because of the idea that people avoid punishment called secondary negative reinforcement proved by a psychological experiment. (Logan) The government also differs from the American government in its treatment of welfare. In the merit based society, there is no welfare. The government does not tax nor lend help to anyone because welfare discourages people from fully using their potentials. If welfare is available to the non wealthy, people tend to become one of them by not working and being fed by the government. Taxes are also eliminated because some people restrict their income to a certain degree by processes called tax avoidance and tax evasion because they want to pay less tax to the American government. • 15. Memory Is A Social Phenomenon It is been seen that memory is now ubiquitous .All of Memory has been wholly observed by its meticulous reconstitution.. When we examine a little closely to how we recollect things in our day to day to life, we realize that the greatest number of memories come back to us when our parents, our neighbours, our friends or the other persons recall them to us. Differences in discourse of memory have been understood by the remnants of experience which is still lived in the warmth of tradition, in the silence of custom, in the repetition of ancestral which have been displaced under the pressure of a fundamentally historical sensibility. Memory is a social phenomena. It has become the subject of controversies among observers and analysts. The notion of memory when it is defined, can be either understood as internal or inward memory and external memory, or personal memory or social memory(Halbwach 1950, 52). Narratives about the past by nations and states are not something new. When we reflect upon them , we make many discoveries ; we discover the shape and the why of the events. (ibid: 55). But the explosion of the memorial phenomenon by largely, is increased from the utterance of specific groups, whether intranational or transnational groups, and from the range of scales on which the narrative of past experience is legitimately expressed. Advantage And Disadvantage Of Composite Materials Composite materials (also called composition materials or shortened to composites) are materials made from two or more constituent materials with significantly different physical or chemical properties, that when combined, produce a material with characteristics different from the individual components. The new material may be preferred for many reasons: common examples include materials which are stronger, lighter or less expensive when compared to traditional materials. In the last decades, the use of natural fibers as reinforcement in polymeric composites for technical application has been a research subject of scientist. • 36. Cubist Collage The readings for week five were Cubist Collage, the Public, and the Culture of Commodities by Christine Poggi and In the Name of Picasso by Rosalind Krauss. Poggi and Krauss take two somewhat different approaches to examine the usage of signifiers and language in Cubism collages. Poggi takes a more personal approach at the beginning of his piece by discussing Braque and Picasso s juxtaposed attitudes and actions towards the public and mass culture by discussing the way in which Picasso and Braque s artworks were displayed through small dealers specifically Kahnweiler. [125] The paradoxical element arrives from the usage of mass produced materials like newspaper or wallpaper in the Cubist collages. Through this, he challenges not only the hierarchical distinctions between high art and mass culture that would come to be a basis for much of twentieth century modern art, but also challenges idea of the ... • 39. Vimy Ridge Significance Almost half a year ago, the great war was won by Canada and her allies overseas; Germany surrender ed, and our men and women came home victorious. Since then, we have embraced our returning soldiers with tears and great pride, while also acknowledging the sacrifices made to gain the peace we have now. Throughout the four years of the war, Canada always fought bravely, despite the overall loss of more than 60,000 soldiers. Indeed, Canada played a pivotal role in the success of multiple battles, notably the Battle of Ypres, and the capture of Vimy Ridge. The Battle of Ypres: The first battle where Canadians entered the front line took place from April 22nd to 24th in 1915, in Belgium. The Germans had been backed into a concave bend the odds were in the Canadians favour. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since the majority of their troops were mobilised in Russia, they only advanced 3.25 km before stopping. Rather than falling back, the Canadians valiantly stood their ground, and fought through the night. Although the allies suffered great loss, they came out victorious. Vimy Ridge: On April 9th to 12th, 1917, the Canadian infantry was sent to seize Vimy Ridge, an advantageous area heavily protected by the Germans. They did not disappoint. Following the French s failed attempt to capture this land, sustaining over 100,000 casualties, the Canadians wanted to leave nothing to chance. The Vimy Ridge take over was carefully planned, and strategically executed. After the high number of deaths in the Somme offensive, Arthur Currie, a senior Canadian officer, and British general, Julian Byng, wanted to ensure victory by rehearsing everything. As Currie states, Thorough preparation must lead to success. Neglect nothing. As a result, positions and roles were meticulously reviewed, men specialized their weapons, and new aerial photos created improved maps. Everything was timed perfectly to the ... • 40. Detections With The Multiplex Potential Of The MAP System... Currently, there are limited options available for point of care diagnostic testing, and none with the multiplex capability potential of the MAP device. Rapid diagnostic tests and thus efficient and near real time surveillance and response are essential for timely and comprehensive decision making. For example, confirmatory testing of DENV requires virus isolation, often inaccessible, or multiple visits to a physician, which may be impractical for a variety of reasons. As was seen in the recent Ebola outbreak, rapid segregation of malaria and viral hemorrhagic fever cases is essential for containing the spread of the disease. The MAP device can provide lab results within the hour, enabling enhanced patient care and surveillance. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs are recommended for managing pain and fever associated with chikungunya and leptospirosis, but are contraindicated for dengue fever due to the risk of hemorrhage. Leptospirosis and malaria are treatable with antibiotic or antimalarial medication. Without this treatment, patient prognosis declines. Rapid identification of malaria cases in an outbreak of viral hemorrhagic fever (VHF) will protect those cases and can help build confidence in the healthcare system, and rapid identification of VHF cases can help prevent large scale outbreaks. While the MAP is useful in a clinical setting, it is designed to perform equally well in an austere or field setting. Because of its compact design, long battery life, reagent stability, and user controlled cloud connectivity, the MAP can allow field and forward operating units to diagnose and treat personnel without a large infrastructure and communicate diagnoses for personnel returning to healthcare facilities. In an outbreak or other public health emergency, it can facilitate rapidly screening military personnel as well as local populations. In these situations, cloud connectivity allows for rapid data aggregation and analysis, improving situational awareness and a proactive approach to containment. The small volume of blood required and protected lancet lowers the risk of infection for medical personnel from that of traditional venipuncture. The ability to operate outside a ... • 43. The Importance Of Informed Consent What is informed consent and when, why and how must the physician obtained this consent? From the Medicine Net they defined Informed Consent as The process by which a patient learns about the procedure, understands the purpose, benefits, and potential risks of a medical or surgical intervention, including clinical trails, and then agrees to receive the treatment or participate in the trial. Informed consent generally requires the patient or responsible party to sign a statement confirming that they understand the risks and benefits of the procedure or treatment. Informed consent needs to be obtained by the physician when a procedure with anesthesia is used, if the patient is undergoing any type of surgery, a procedure that is entering the body through the skin or through a body cavity, or if the patient is asked to be in a clinical research trial. This type of consent is necessary so the patient and the physician are both on the same page of the patient s understanding and willingness to participate in the procedure. It is also for the patient to know their right to stop the procedure before or during the procedure. It also informs the patient that if they do not want the procedure they have alternatives they can choose from. The deployment of a family member can definitely be a difficult time for loved ones. Currently, families are experiencing the affects of the deployment cycle and it is putting many people under a lot of emotional stress. More than 1.2 billion families have an active duty parent or spouse (The Long War). Although it affects every family differently, the phases are all the same. Sometimes, the deployed spouse has trouble getting back into the swing of things like managing money and household routines. These phases seem to affect every family in many different ways, positively and negatively. Throughout the deployment process, children seem to be the most affected in the family when their loved one is about to leave them for a long period of time. The earliest war time deployment in history was back during World War II (Lester and Flake). This had to have been an extremely tough time for families considering how brutal this particular war was. About 40% of children in active duty families are younger than five years old. Out of this 40%, 14% of the children have school issues: failing, having little to no interest in learning and their work, and problems with their teachers. More than half saw their grades fall when one of their parents was deployed. School aged children seem to have more effects when a parent is deployed. Studies show that the older the child, the more likely it is that they will use drugs and consume alcohol (Lester and Flake). According to Patricia Lester and Eric Flake, school aged children show higher levels of emotional and behavioral distress.
